Prince Harry Working On 'Intimate and Heartfelt Memoir'

"Prince Harry will soon release his memoir, maybe sees Deborah Roberts has the story just months after his stunning Oprah interview was reportedly angered the royal family, the Duke of Sussex, announcing plans to pin his own life story. Saying in a statement. I am not writing as the Prince I was born. But the man I've become. My hope is that in telling my story the highs and lows the mistakes, the lessons learned. I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think it's really going to focus on the people that have helped shape his life. And really come to discover the experiences that he's had made him the man. He is today the untitled memoir in the works since last year and will span Harry's entire life from his childhood in the spotlight to present day living outside the palace. The book reportedly a surprise to his father, Prince Charles. Tensions between Harry and the royal family have been high since he stepped away from his duties to make a life in America. So when I asked the question, why did you leave? The simplest answer is lack of support. And lack of understanding the publisher Penguin Random House, saying Harry will give the definitive account of the experiences that shaped him one of those becoming a husband and a father. But she also discussed with Oprah, I guess Highlight for me. Is Sticking him on the back of the bicycle. And his little baby, see? And take him on his boat rides or something which I never was able to do when I was young. This is the first time in modern history where a senior royal has written his or her own memoir, Usually other people write those books. The publisher says it will be released in 2022 Harry says proceeds will go to charity. But as you can imagine, there are strong opinions across the globe, many asking why others saying good for him?

Meghan markle told oprah that kate middleton made huck fry before her wedding in two thousand eighteen to prince harry nine british journalist camilla terminally. That's very british. "Someone impersonating a spokesman for imprisoned russian opposition figure alexander navalny conducted zoom meetings with european parliament members. The sessions featured. The incident is of course troubling for coming at a time when navalny is imprisoned and on a life threatening hunger strike and it's worth noting that relatively senior political officials were taken in by the scam but to place it in perspective. Prince Harry Gets Job at BetterUp Coaching and Mental Health Business

"That thing. Meantime, Prince Harry has a new job and a new title. Get what I did. He gets to be chief impact officer at a startup called Better Up, which is a fast growing coaching and mental health firms. The company's planning to it's a Silicon Valley Volley valley. Uh, start up. No, I haven't been drinking at least not yet. And so, according to this new story, he is going to help people's lives, Prince Harry said in an email response to questions about why he's taking the job. Proactive Coaching provides endless possibilities for personal development, increased awareness and an all around better life. So in his better up position. He's expected to have input into initiatives including product strategy, decisions and charitable contributions and advocate publicly on topics related to mental health. Well, the last I can understand because his wife said, toe Oprah that she, you know, contemplated suicide at a time after they got married, and things were going so badly in the in the in the palace, and he has also have been open about his own struggle. In the past, Given the early death of his mother, I'm not sure what input he could have into product strategy decisions. But one reason why he has to work is because he has to work. Here's some of what he told Oprah. Your family cut you off. In the first half of the first quarter of 2020. But I've got all my mom left me. So he's no longer on the Windsor Dole by the Windsors air on the UK Dole So he and Meghan Markle now have to make their own way. And they've signed this deal with Netflix, which is reportedly worth $100 million, and I'm not sure how Netflix expects to make. $100 million with Megan in Harry and also I think they have a deal of podcasting deal with Spotify or something like that. But now he's going to be working for this company called Better Up and the head of the company Now this company better up. I guess it's like it's coaching and The health of your employees. You hire them to make your employees happier. And, um, the head of the company is being used by sales force and some other things they had. The company says that it wouldn't say how much he's gonna pay the Duke of Sussex. Bond that he will not manage employees or have direct reports. "All the latest goings on with the British Royal Family I'm your host amid scooby flying solo this week because. Renewed, it's currently on the road for story she will no doubt with us with a couple of tales to share. on next week's. But that does not mean we have half the content this week, a royal family had been very busy. We've had the Cambridge's and about in London marking the launch of Kate's hold still exhibition with the National Portrait Gallery Prince. William has been getting in on the podcast seen as speaking about his outrage of the inaction world leaders on a environmental focused podcast. This obviously comes off the back of his Earth Shot Prize launch, which we discussed on previous episode also had him picking up a COUPLA new roles from the Queen and Prince Philip beginning into a little bit of diesel about that later in. The show and Kamilo opens up about her mother's struggle with osteoporosis in the video that was released by Clarence House just yesterday, and of course, we'll be checking up with our day old friends. The Sussex is across the pond been very busy this week with a collaboration or partnership with Time Magazine. The time one hundred talks special focusing on creating a more humane and compassionate S- digital community. The will not benefit the online world, but also the offline world they spoke with a number of leaders. And thought makers across the scene from the tax base. Fort was a very interesting insightful couple of hours was livestream earlier this week we diving into some of the details that came from that, and of course, the big announcement for their nonprofit organization arch well. That will be launching this year. We had some new information on that directly from team Sussex of course, we started our week with the Cambridge's the Duchess of Cambridge was out in London to mark the or see the final results of the months long haul still project that she had partnered with the National Poetry Gallery for here in London this was a project that pulled together images from across the country that represented off time in lockdown. A very poignant series portrays and some thousand and trees, and it was the Duchess of Cambridge, a panel of several others that pulled together the final list, and now this the gallery is available online to look at the digital virtual exhibition, of course. Given wherever adds it makes complete sense but they did wants to do something a little bit special and what's the National Portrait Gallery of done is bring many of these images two, hundred, twelve locations or community sites are calling it across the UK billboards pop up exhibitions in the streets and public areas, towns, villages, cities. It'll be going on for the next weeks and William Kate who are currently back in London. Of course because the kids or school. When town together to check out a couple of the sites where at the pictures to place visited Waterloo which London, some of you may have heard of. So, not far from the train station and they met with a couple who had actually. Had their images selected for the exhibition and. Trump's for the couple to have a look at some of these images more interestingly I. Think one thing that tickled the press mostly over here was Prince William had a little nose or pokes his head into a KFC he on the way. which somehow ends up being the picture of the day but of course. That was much bigger issue here which of course, checking images for the whole still exhibits So as I said, they're hundred and twelve exhibition sites and you know this was the transfer the couple again to be honest and about wearing them asks I think it's very important for the royal family at something mckeon spoken about law is that I think the royal family have really prove that worth and relevance throughout this period by bringing communities together. And being part of the conversations that being had across the country indeed and crow apart across much of the Commonwealth. As the world takes on deals with the challenge of Corona virus. This wasn't the only time that we saw Prince William this week because we also him on a podcast called outrage optimism alongside a U. N. official Cristiana Forget. Who she recently oversold the delivery of the Paris Agreement on climate change and she's also a member of the princes Earth Short Prize panel, and this was really a chance to hear some of William's thoughts on why surprise so important him. But also what he wants to achieve by launching this prize and what he feels can be gained from it during the Khasi spoke about his outrage by the inaction of world leaders around the world. Who in his mind freely failed to? Take on the leadership as the world continues to face. Problems stemming from climate change I get outraged by the inaction that's probably not shape. But that is what I get most trouble especially as I'm in a position of. Responsibility like Oh leadership I feel I can do a lot more. Ability, and so therefore, I don't understand why those who have the leaders don't. Yeah. And I think that's what really upsets me and keeps me awake at nights and I think this was a chance for Williams not only speak about the price, but he also shed his sort of hopes for new optimism for people to look for inspiring as to help fight full the natural world the next ten years. Show prizes. We went into great detail about last episode. Do Check it out if you want to hear more..

She's obviously grown up in the UK and I'm sure would have been very aware of some things that make an dealt with throughout the years growing up. But also during a time moving to the UK an experiencing the great and the. Difficult sides of participation that still exist. In that compensation Harry sort of went onto reflects about his own experiences of sort of discovering. Wear, a lack of diversity exists he spoke about going into a shop with your children anything White Dole's he said do even think that's it does not black told. Me He says, and I used that as just one example of we see where we as white people don't always have the awareness of what it must be like for someone else different colored skin of black skin to be in the same situation as we are where the world that we know has been created by white people full white people. And I think it's comments like bees. That makes Harry a very welcome participant in conversation owning his own privilege not being afraid to talk about. Some of this sort of more difficult moments in history in the past, we'd heard him speak about some of the darker sides of the British Empire in the past when speaking Queens Commonwealth. Trust. I'm curious about that conversation what reaction you've been seeing especially here in Britain compared to even the UK. What do you think what has the reaction been like from from whether it be the community or royal commentators about the fact that Harry Meghan or being so open and talking to the standard about this kind of thing. Sussex's <Speech_Male> really <Speech_Male> struggled with and. <Speech_Male> In <Speech_Male> My Book Finding <Speech_Male> Freedom, the biography <Speech_Male> of Harry and Meghan <Speech_Male> which is out, August <Speech_Male> eleven, <Speech_Male> so I can't say <Speech_Male> too much about it now. <Speech_Male> It <Speech_Male> really does touch <Speech_Male> or say touch <Speech_Male> a explore <Speech_Male> the damage <Speech_Male> that <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> this kind of no comment <Speech_Male> culture <Speech_Male> can have <Speech_Male> on. <Speech_Male> TV people <Speech_Male> are so desperate <Speech_Male> for the <Speech_Male> truth to be out <Speech_Male> there and have <Speech_Male> been <Speech_Male> affected by <Speech_Male> mistreats. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Having so much <Speech_Male> power over them <Speech_Male> and the and the world <Speech_Male> that they belong <Speech_Male> to. <Speech_Male> And so I think what <Speech_Male> what? What really interests <Speech_Male> me here is that we're actually <Speech_Male> seeing a couple now. <Speech_Male> Clearly <Speech_Male> feeling emboldened <Speech_Male> to speak <Speech_Male> out about <Speech_Male> this and I dating <Speech_Male> so this'll be <Speech_Male> the first we hear of <Speech_Male> it, and of course <Speech_Male> as I said there'll be a <Speech_Male> lot more of this on in <Speech_Male> the book, but <Speech_Male> I think beyond the book <Speech_Male> I think that this will <Speech_Male> be something. We hear <Speech_Male> from both Harry <Speech_Male> and Meghan <Speech_Male> on the future. Future <Speech_Male> bit through this <Speech_Male> case or <Speech_Male> future court cases <Speech_Male> we know that Harry <Speech_Male> instead of constant <Speech_Male> back, and forth <Speech_Male> with the son <Speech_Male> of different legal <Speech_Male> issues and I'm sure <Speech_Male> that they will <Speech_Male> become their own <Speech_Male> thing next <Speech_Male> year. Unfortunately for <Speech_Male> the couple it's <Speech_Male> sort of a double edged <Speech_Male> sword by <Speech_Male> wanting to <Speech_Male> make things <Speech_Male> better for themselves, <Speech_Male> and for others. <Speech_Male> They also have <Speech_Male> to suffer <Speech_Male> a little <SpeakerChange> bit more <Speech_Female> for Elizabeth Long <Speech_Female> interesting all these things <Speech_Female> we're talking about. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> We're looking towards the <Speech_Female> future. <Speech_Female> We'll get some interesting answers <Speech_Male> over the next <SpeakerChange> few months. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> have to thank you <Speech_Male> for your patience because <Speech_Male> this is the. <Speech_Male> Time <Speech_Male> that we <SpeakerChange> tempted <Speech_Female> recordings <Speech_Female> partner just <Speech_Female> three opportunities <Speech_Female> Chitchat. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> Always a good tie <Speech_Male> and good news <Speech_Male> is is that we'll <Speech_Male> actually be <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> possibly <Speech_Male> together <Speech_Female> next week maybe. <Speech_Female> We <Speech_Male> can dream. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Do, you <Speech_Male> have post. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> Lockdown. <Speech_Female> Lift plans <Speech_Female> way <Speech_Female> too many to get into <Speech_Female> I. Feel like my wanderlust <Speech_Female> lists just keeps growing. <Speech_Female> The more <SpeakerChange> I'm in lockdown. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Have to say that I'm very <Speech_Male> excited to be guessing <Speech_Male> and I am going to <Speech_Male> make this a public announcement. <Speech_Male> I'm getting ahead. <Speech_Male> Well! <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> Astonished, I have <Speech_Female> not seen <Speech_Female> your hair long. <Speech_Female> Please take a photo and post <Speech_Male> it on twitter. Right in <Speech_Male> meeting real <SpeakerChange> I kind of <Speech_Female> have A. Way <Speech_Female> The needs <Speech_Female> to see this. You need to post <Speech_Female> it of <Speech_Female> before and after. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> INSTAGRAM. <Speech_Female> Well that is exciting. <Speech_Female> That is a good <Speech_Female> update. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> Happy <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> Haircut, it's really <Speech_Female> all about. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> Fun to catch <Speech_Male> up amid thanks <Speech_Male> Maggie and a big. <Speech_Male> Thank you to my guests <Speech_Male> for joining the show <Speech_Male> this week. <Speech_Male> Course big.

"Some of the earliest moments that they had with Kensington Palace on their frustrations at not being able to speak out or to deny all smackdown stories that they felt were untrue. not this is of course old parts of the court case with the Mail on Sunday that sees Meghan taking on the newspaper for publishing what? was a private letter and breach of copyright in doing so the Mail on. Sunday argues that Megan had authorized friends to speak about the letter to people magazine, and so one of the things that was really clarified in these court documents was the fact that Megan had absolutely no idea that five of friends would be speaking to the US publication about such personal maximum I do. Do think it's interesting. Sort of with all. That's happening in the world right now and the fact that are back out on engagements and the whole world has changed in the past few months. SORTA, forget the court case almost going on still have to deal with it in a certain sense. The this kind of took me by surprise when this news broke and all the sudden. Seemed like it! Put drama back on the face of the Royal, family. It's unfortunate because I can see why for the Sussex. This is a necessary move they clearly. Feel very strongly about the fact that the has been an injustice hit. There has been a breach of copyright breach of privacy that they want to take on as Harriers set himself before that he sees many issues within the British media that he feels that can't be ignored or ignoring them just makes you complicit in being part of the problem, and so for them to really try and see this. Although it will be incredibly an emotionally exhausting. They clearly have their eyes on a much bigger picture here. This is all very much part of creating. That's a better life for themselves, but for the next generation as well one of those being archie, who, of course in a must be the driving force behind so many of the decisions that they made but I..

They were at making croissants or packaging meals. They were asking questions they were curious about. A variety of things in the lives of our men and women work there. Of course. homeboy industries is the largest gang rehabilitation and re entry program in the world, and it's of course, not just the bakery and cafe that you have the and there's also counseling educational legal. Assistant to removal job training. Did the couple get to hear more about some of the services? The are available through homeboy industries in formerly they did you know remember Harry was asking me questions in, and we would stand there and. In the though we were limited to just the kitchen and the cafe us, so the didn't see any other part of. Our operation, but but they certainly ask questions about it, and we've had recently from team Sussex at the couple really have shifted their focus now to really get involved in the black lives matter movement, and to really educate themselves on this racial Justice Movement I understand that you've sort of played a role in that and really sort of having some sort of deep conversations with the couple. You able to share some of the moments that you've had together. Yeah, I. I would I would wanNA emphasize that It was not a kind of an issue of systemic racism that the two of them needed to come up to speed on. They were they were quite. You know brilliant. Really. They were really had a depth of understanding of. Of what this. Entailed in in the kind of how how racism really has permeated every aspect of life in the United States so you know they were very much. Up to speed if you if you will and. So. It wasn't a question of here. Let me educate them. As if I if they they were quite knowledgeable in dairy And I'm sure if you if you've watched the commencement address a video that she did for her Alma Mater. It was very incisive, been clear and challenging, and so there's there's not a lot of this that she doesn't. Get clearly obviously, and so I'm hardened by the fact that they want to you know dedicate. A certain part of their energy to addressing this stuff. And, of course we head Prince. Harry. Speaking at the darn awards where he addressed. The issue of institutional racism doesn't just exist in the UK but of course in the US and around the world. This Sussex's of close being through. An incredible journey over the pasta is an announced very much just doing things independently. Will you following this story sort of in the past? And did you get to witness? Pat Some of these moments. When of course we with Meghan? She was on the receiving end of lots of racism, herself and sections of the media. was that something that you are aware of just only preferably not very not with any depth in in certainly she didn't. Raise any of this in our conversations, but. you know I've I've read a guess. You know in a superficial ways sort of what all that was. You know especially as represented in the press, but but I wouldn't say that I. I have much firsthand knowledge based on my conversations with the two of them and one of the things that we heard were Harry Megan, and how much they connected deeply, they said with homeboys missions welcome all people in the community of love and. Focused this focus on healing and contributions, wellbeing families and communities. It's a regular theme that we see in a lot of work that they do. They are very community focused expect sort of any future collaborations with the couple and homeboy industries I certainly hope so you know there in A. We've invited them in to stay. Connected to us than certainly as. We return to some. Semblance of what life was a little bit like before the pandemic. My hope is that they will feel. As at home as they seem to be that, they came to visit. And of course we had Harry in the past on engagements. Joke about his kitchen scales. All lack of was witnessed to sort of who might be best in the kitchen. Oh, there's no question she was. She, was she just you know kind of duck to water. She was completely acclimated to. You know how to manipulate a dose so that it could turn into something magical there one of our homeys. One of the guys was was teaching the two of them how to do it and he. He was kind of had to left thumbs, but but Megan quite skilled at. That's brilliant and I had that. She was speaking Spanish in the kitchen as well. Yeah, there was a one point where they were kind of in a conveyor. Kind of moment where they're loading up these. Meals that we are making to address food insecurity in Los Angeles County. And there was the woman who clearly was You know more comfortable in Spanish and and Megan just launched right in in in Spanish. That was quite quite good. One one of the things that I've commonly spoken about with the loss of the charities and organizations that we speak with on the show is just how. The tests. This pandemic has being on Organizations typically those are very reliance on funding from Memphis pate nations. How has that affected? homeboy industries we both AC- sort of been in lockdown of sorts for the past three months. Have happy been able to ride this out. Yeah, it was difficulty in as Harry was asking about our funding. were twenty million dollar annual operation. Half of that is brought in by our social enterprises, which were momentarily half those enterprises were crippled momentarily by the pandemic and the other half. We have to raise so that was a different thing than Harry's experience in the UK where a program that's comparable to homeboy industries. There would receive perhaps some government help. We only get one percent assistance from the government. So I, think he was surprised at sort of that that ratio and But we have been able to pivot to You know providing food and meals for. "Would know you'll story in your work I. would say that's impossible. And he said that this move this move that Harriet made to really highlight his work at emboldened him now to really even harder. Harder to continue to do what he's doing. And of course the what does continue behind the scenes with the Sussex is we head that Duchess Megan had spoken to a young woman who is the victim of an alleged race hate crime? She connects it with all thea Bernstein an eighteen year old black women in Wisconsin. His assault is being investigated by the police, but also has made major headlines over the past couple of weeks Impart, because it's such a horrific crime, and I from what I heard from speaking with sources, make him this really moved and horrified by the story, and wanted to reach out to the go herself to speak to family to hit her story and find out if she's okay, she had actually reached out to her via the president of an an initiative, boys and girls club of Dane County She spoke with Michael Johnson and he was the one he's the CEO. "I think was really important. It's important for spouses. It's important for all communities. Even if you're not the target of racism, but as he acknowledged, has taken part in systemic racism is important for all these communities right now to stand up and say something, and so to have Harry do that and also acknowledged that his past has not been perfect that he has made mistakes, and he is sorry for them, but wants to move forward and do. Do Better for the future. All of those things are very vulnerable so to have him do it and to have it happen on. You know the the anniversary of his mom's birth as well. What would have been his mother's birthday? It was just a very poignant a moment. Absolutely I think to address the issue of institutional racism and the fact that it does exist. Exist and has no place in our society that in itself I think particularly for the UK is quite powerful it's a compensation that is still had here regularly whether whether racism exists or not in this country and I. Think you if you watch a lot of the commentary on certain TV shows, it's still something that I think a lot of people have A. A tough time really addressing or accepting is a very serious problem in society, and so for hiring to really bring that up, but also to I think what I loved about this speech that he gave he'll say. Toss the my Cova to some of the young people who are actually the voices of community led initiatives that are working to really fight against racial injustices. There was one young guy. Who is working to see more black representation, particularly black Caribbean representation in British universities and another young woman who is working with charity fighting against racial injustice. Here in the UK and I think really a highlight, the work the others doing that really is kind of the Trademark Sussex move these days. We don't just see them using their own voices. We often see them sort of quote unquote, passing the Mike Who Others to share theirs had worked to such a good point. Point I think it's important right now to knowing when just to listen, and it was a really good thing that he did I. Agree to say his part, but then sort of step back and let the people that are living in and been working in this space for so long able to live, and he using his platform as a way to help amplify their voices, absolutely, James Freighter, twenty four year, old guy who's a medical students at King's College in London. He said that his when he spoke off to Harry, of course, he was very flattered. That Harry handed over to him, but he spoke about how his school days were really mad by being routinely dismissed all prematurely labeled by teachers for I guess things that are of often unfortunately stereotyped against people of Color. People in this country and he spoke very openly about having to endure hundreds of school tensions and exclusions from school that necessarily rightfully handed out, and so he spent about really. Realizing that this was happening why it was happening, and then wanting to do something about it, and he said to the end of his speech, he said if someone said to me when I was fourteen James in ten years time Prince Harry..

"Each is from the each a charity shops that we have across the UK and they've been closed for a long period of time. How's that impacted each? In general, and how can people in in the public sort of help make? A nothing can win when lockdown hits. The very next week we will lose income of around a hundred and fifty thousand pounds a week from the outset because we have to shop, we have food shops. We have close all of them. "Not because the second slash third time I attempt to terrific board this podcast because I'm back in London Maggie. Who is on the line with me now? Wonderful correspondent. We are one step closer to being reunited. I now I'm well I'm excited that we're one step closer, but from being honest. I'm really excited. I'm one step closer to Yoshi. I hate to break T. that's why I'm in this friendship. It's for your doc. He will be back in London more. He's just had little operation so well. It's good to have you back and lend in. This is this is this is a sign of hope. This is under progress it is. I feel like we are inching back to normal I. Feel like we can stop using the term new you know. Something probably should have done already, but. Yes. But it's been great and I. Think also one thing we'll talk about. This episode is just. Starts at see members of the Royal Family's stepping back into that sort of quote, unquote, normal oil roles you know way from the Webcams and actually back to in person boiling engagements and saying now I'm GonNa miss the Queen and her Webcam. On Zoom. Retreat for show. But it does mean that we've been able to see. members like Prince Charles Baxter. Doing what he does best, and we'll be talking about those engagement shortly and why I love them so. Just like a teaser for everyone to make sure you stick around. Sheriff how much he loves. Charles with farm animals leader. The highlight of his day. And of course, cates the Duchess of Cambridge was also out in person at a really heartwarming engagement at children's hospice. She helped plant a garden. They're not. I'll actually be catching up without patronage to hear more about the work that she's been doing with them in person, and also behind the scenes will also be catching. It really was as beautiful, little stubby, catching up with the latest goings on with Sussex says we have everything the couple of really shifted their focus onto the black lives matter movement I'll be talking with one of the. Organizations in La that they'd been working closely with and herring just about their involvement in that movement of Prince Harry also was Princess Diana rewards virtually giving rather impressive speech at touched on this subject as well as racial bias and institutional racism, and so it's really been an eventful week for them. also in the headlines of course at the couple have moved that quote case with the Mail on Sunday one step forward, and we'd be breaking down some of the details in those documents. Not but Maggie back to my favorite subjects, Prince Charles. Really, we were just talking to get back. We really why? This is significant is Prince Charles I think is a member of the royal family was really the family member. represented. covid nineteen away I..

"It's definitely a preoccupation as it should be in. Most countries is a constant compensation for member of the Royal Family. In this country. There are always questions about security and I think the Harry and Meghan on top of the difficulties that they had with the press. There has been this sort of underlying issue of who pays his security moving forward and I think it was something that I know that it's something that a couple of very mindful of that from March thirty first that it would have to be done by themselves. I think they really didn't WanNA leave themselves open for further attacks. We saw them already. Step forward and offer to pay back. The full renovation Kosovo Komo cottage that will go straight back into the sovereign grant ought to the government and that was something they wanted to do you personally and so it doesn't really come to surprise to me that there will sit doing the same with security. Yeah I just I think that unfortunately all of those efforts that you just listed get lost in the noise that accompanies Harry and Meghan sometimes often too you know they are not encouraging it and I do think that people missed that where they did say that this is some. These are costs that we want to assume on our own that said security is not cheap. I mean for them. You're dealing with at least multiple personnel and round the clock and having to account for travel in certain expenses. So this goes back to everybody's curiosity about what their future plans are going to be. Because they're going to have to like have a pretty significant income in order to cover that plus their lifestyle for sure and I think that's perhaps and I speculate here one of the reasons why they didn't go down the route of starting a foundation because they don't have sort of an unlimited fund behind them to start something like that they would have had to fund raised alongside raising their own money as well because they've they've spent the past few years not earning a living. You know thought work that they do for the royal family doesn't really come with a salary per se. Your expenses covered. The cost of work covered a lot of that is up to you. And so it's GonNa be tough for them certainly for those of these few months ahead which listen to the secretary or now no one really knows when there is sort of an end date this this could be something that follows for some time and that will of course provide gave different obstacles so the couple they weren't expecting because I'm sure as we've seen in the past. They were ready to hit the ground running. And I think from you know an observer perspective those people who follow celebrity gossip and royal lives because again like this is. Let's not pretend that this segment of the population out there. Who's engaged with this story and other royal stories isn't looking at them like they are celebrities. This is so wild in a way because imagine like Harry now. His life is like opening an envelope and looking at like a hydro bill dino like. It's an interesting way to think of we. Think of these these these British royals as they grew up in castles and they're always in a parade dressed up and there are Tiaras and salutes and the Queen. And let's not pretend that they've had it like real in any sense of what a civilian would understand yet for all intents and purposes. Now that Harry and Meghan are no longer senior members of the royal family they may be doing activities like that talking about budget and you know where to allocate and how much to save and yeah how much the Hydro Pot and of course probably at the same time looking at ways that they can also raise money for some of the projects they want to because they also have to fund all of the work they. Did you know with royals? Those engagements are picked up by the sovereign grand. So any travel costs whether it's toys you know it's there's a host country that picks up the bail or whoever and I think that suddenly stops and said they will constantly be this conversation about money. That won't be handled by someone else. It will be something that they'll be very much in charge of see. That's also what's interesting to me because you know in English society and I'm not just getting this from Downton Abbey but upper-class people don't like to talk about money right and it's the money matters are left to the people who are actually hired to care about these things it's considered. I guess not what elegant uncouth to really get dirty about money conversation in the modern world. Though and this pertains to all kinds of social streams and social and cultural preoccupations specially for example when we talk about equality in the workplace women in the workplace and getting more comfortable with talking about money. There are many people out there who were trying to remove that sort of Archaic Etiquette Protocol. Where hey you know what? We should talk about money. Because it's directly related to inequality and Harry and Meghan have been chew advocates. Social Justice and equality. So it's going to be interesting to see them making that kind of cultural departure from the royal family and from a certain class of people and getting more I guess real with the issues that other people are getting real about getting more real exactly. It's been a pleasure talking Delaney. I'm kind of curious to know when the next time we're going to be talking about. The Sussex will be because you know. We often see celebrities. Say they're going to take some time out. And then a few weeks later they sort of resurfaced with something. I think this looks like a proper break for the couple and from what I'm hearing from sources we're not going to hear from them until July time so that is some time to go without the Sussex is and I think it'll be interesting for the royal family who haven't really seen a day go by where Harry and makings names on sort of ties to the monarchy in some way or another for the past three years. I think someone posted the Statistic Online yesterday. That the mail online has posted four and a half thousand stories about Harry and Meghan in the past three years. Well Omid I. I definitely want to touch base again. And soon in fact maybe just about a month from now because we now know that. Sussex Royal The instagram account will be inactive meaning that there will be no further updates from Harry and Meghan on that account. But in a month's time is baby archies first and I'll think a lot of the all of us were expecting that since because they've they've given us archie gifts in little archie drops in the past that that would be the account where we would see some sort of archie birthday wish his big milestone so now like is archie. Birthday just GONNA pass quietly. And no one is going to see a new photo of him or will some kind of new Sussex Social Media County set up by then so that we can be like. Oh Hey arches one. I'm really really really curious. About what is GonNa happen like by that date and what may or may not be in place and if not whether or not that will be a bummer for people right hearing you say she's birthday going by quietly. I think is exactly what the couple of crazed for some time and I something tells me. That's exactly what will have. Well okay. Well Yeah let's let's make it a date. Let's touch base after may sixth and see whether or not you prophetic. You are prophetic in this prediction. All righty pleasure as always laney. Thank you for joining me. Stay safe and I'll see you in a month's time and that brings us to the end of our show this week and all of the Royal News. We have wrapped up. You know it's been interesting. I've always thought the this period would be such a quiet time for members of the Royal Family that work that they do particularly to support the country through this difficult time has continued behind the scenes. And it's been really interesting and refreshing to see that That the focus has remained very much on that and thank you as always all of either rights into the show with your kind words and positive comments. They mean a lot especially in this very strange time and I hope that the past half hour or one hour whatever this ends up has been slight escape for all of you. "Travelers has partnered with the likes of booking dot com tripadvisor skyscraper owner visa. Another big heavyweights from the world of travel to create a universal scoring system. That basically will allow us to without much thought. See how much impact particular trip may have and it's not just about the carbon footprint of flights it goes really to write into communities as well so we're talking about whether communities are actually receiving much money back from the benefits of tourism in areas. And Harry himself. He's traveled extensively particularly within developing nations is frequent trips to Botswana or actually. What inspired him to really start thinking about this travelers initiative. There was a statistic that was shared with me by one of his aides. That's I think from about ten or so years ago so it may have been updated since then but I think around five dollars of every one hundred dollars made in communities in developing nations from tourism. Goes back into that community? And so it shows this massive unbalance. And so how he wanted to be able to add a bit of transparency to this so people when they are exploring the well actually know the impact. They're having along the way. I think they're being a little bit of misunderstanding. When this was first announced that this was almost harry preaching to people not to travel anymore and in fact. This is quite the opposite. This is to encourage people to explore the world explore the cities they live in the countries live in all further afield but to do it with mindfulness. And that's what's so impressive about this travel listed initiative and why is picking up steam so quickly because it does make sense. Recent survey. Show that about seventy percent of traveling consumers would like to know more about the impact. They're having asked. They travel the world and Sky. Scanner recently added the function on their website to rank your flight results in the order of the emissions. That may come from those flights. And so this was Focused on Scotland. Scotland is a huge hub of Tories and particularly Edinburgh. Where we were. Scotland also had some struggles with tourism. Edinburgh points has not been able to keep up with the amounts of people come in and out of the SEC- particularly at different times of the year during the comedy festival. Another key point at year and they seem to have found a balanced Made sense to us as testing ground for any of the work that travelers wants to moving forward so back to Harry. Harry flew in the night before and started the morning Brighton early at the Conference Center. There was some talk that really I guess dominated the headlines of the day where Harry was introduced to the stage as Harry. No titles no. Hr H we're not used to seeing that an MC. He's a journalist and former Labor adviser here in the UK. Aisha has rica. Before bringing Harry onto the stage said that she was told not to use his title unjustified him Harry and thus was the just colmey Harry headlines born now. I think this is a significant moment for Harry. This shows that he is ready to sort of move into this new chapter full force ready to leave behind the HR ages and the pomp and the pageantry that may have gotten on his nerves. Shall we say in recent months or years but I also think that we have to sometimes remember not to overreact? I have met Harry a number of times the first time I ever met him. I remember saying to one of this. This was a good a so years ago. Yeah about eight years and I said to one of his aides. What should I call him? Because with Prince William. I've always called him Sir and that's pretty much the standard protocol and with Harry. I wanted the same but at the same time it also need how you it's quite an informal guy and I was told back then just him Harry and that's always been the case ever since and I know many people that have been told just cool him Harry and so yes. I think it is important to note that on stage. We now have this. Just call me Harry Movement but this has always been who Harry's being and it sometimes gets a little bit of context behind the headlines before we sort of breathlessly get excited about being bigger than it perhaps is so anyway onto the event itself we heard from Harry. He spoke on stage. Just about how in portions this new chapter of the travel list. Sustainable Travel Initiative is. They are about six months into thirty six months development face. Oh we're a long way off the final product but had some really winds points to make as most of you in this room already. No tourism is one of the world's largest economic sectors generating nearly nine trillion dollars globally each year representing one in ten jobs and more than ten percent of the world's GDP and it is rapidly growing. It is predicted the tourism will reach over one point eight billion travelers by twenty thirty if we do not act in large part get ahead of this inevitable surge. This massive increase will mean we see more of the world's most beautiful destinations closed or destroyed more communities becoming overwhelmed more beaches shots because of pollution and animals and wildlife driven from their natural habitats which has a huge impact on communities and reduces tourism opportunities. But we are here to find ways to make sure that that does not happen. Yeah and as Harry pointed out consumers want more clarity incredible information about how they can choose more sustainable options and of course how vital is that communities across the wells I see the meaningful benefits from Tourism Manzullo said since the announcement last summer travellers has become a major talking point within the travel industry But Harry says that you know they've still got a way to go. I think what really stood out to me about. This engagement was a just how engaged Harry is being you know had conversations with people who are involved in this and some of his new team and you know. They said that he's involved in every meeting that he is really that hands on behind the scenes every step of the way and that's always worth pointing out. We often talk about the work that Memphis with real family. Do on this show. It's nice to hear how much work actually done. Because sometimes we're under the impression that voile members of the royal family just show up cuts a ribbon and leave and back can sometimes be the case but I think there is a lot more effort that goes into these engagements than one might think that speaking of Harry's team we sold for the first time him working with some of his new known palace team impact. There was no palace presence. At this event. There was not the usual group of rural photographers. Either and instead it was a small team by Harry side including former role foundation. Press Officer James Holt and former assistant. Private Secretary had the Wong. Both of whom are now working with Harry on travel list from its office here in London and it shows how important this is to Harry. An how keen is to keep certain people around that can help. He's worked with on projects in the past that he knows that can bring parts like this to fruition what stood out to me about chaplain was how this also gives us a bit of a look. How Harry and Meghan plans to work on things? Moving forward in the statement that the couple released on their own Sussex World website. It pointed out that moving forward. They won't be launching a foundation so to speak and they went on to explain. They would be a sort of non profit entity of sorts but the description was kind of vague. I would imagine that that's on purpose at the moment because I still figuring things out but this word. The Harry's doing on travelers really shows how the couple I think. Plant work moving forward collapsing with people and companies within the private sector for their philanthropic efforts and as a source pointed out to me rather than replicating classic charitable foundations that currently exists that they may have looked at of course they look through a number of models they really plan moving forward to look at the root cause of problems and find ways to change them in game changing ways and. I think that's really interesting. We can hear a lot. More about the couple's work the days ahead. Meghan wool as I said be joining Harry very soon in London for few engagements. They have the Endeavour Awards together that is honoring military veterans for their heroic achievements. We will see a couple of Mount Batten Music Festival. We spoke about that with Victoria opposite last week and most. Interestingly we'll also see the Sussex's side by side with the Cambridge's and other senior members of the royal family including.

"Prevent accusations and criticism of them cashing in on use of the word royal so while. I'm sure it is a little bit frustrating. Because of course they've they've put so much time and effort into branding. Sussex Royal I think in the long term. It will be one of those amid when we talk several months from. Now we'll go. Oh yeah that was a good idea with hindsight because it just protects Both entities exactly and. I think it's worth remembering that. When they announced the Sussex website that they had alongside manifesto for this sort of part time working world working model but they wanted to put forward. That was the time when they were thinking about the Sussex for Brandon. And I think a soon as everything changed for them on not being able to continue as sort of part time working royals. I think they would have been far from surprised when they finally heard that might not be possible to use the role name moving forward and I don't even know if that's something that the couple particularly wants because of cost their lives have completely changed in the last month or so. They thought that they would be working. Still for you know for the Royal Family as well as doing their own thing and of course that's completely changed so I think we talk about this independence. They have this freedom that they have. It makes sense to also do away with any royal branding as well and as you say. I think that in the long run. They'll appreciate as the palace said that the couple of agreed to an initial twelve month review to ensure that the arrangements of this situation works well and so by not having role on their name their sort of helping themselves in the long run. It's prevents to if I couldn't agree more and think actually it doesn't matter for Harry and Meghan if you just say Harry and Meghan. Everyone knows who you're talking about everyone. That's very few people in this world. You can say one name and everyone knows who you're talking about. They don't need the word royal in order to progress and as you said they're leaving all things royal behind so this is just part of the further freedom the rebranding of Harry and Meghan. Should we say so? If they're rebranding why hold onto what they did in the past when they looking ahead to the future and a totally new identity and a new chapter for themselves so I don't think they the word royal is immaterial at the end of the day. Unfortunately it just bought huge backlash against the Queen because people determined she was being petty and mean and And that she was punishing. Harry and Meghan and it's important. Remember too that the Queen Acts on behalf of the government Everything every decision. That's made isn't the Queen's sole decision it's done with a team of advises Palisades government officials Experts in in Trademarking and and all the rest of it so this really isn't the Queen Being Petty. This is the queen protecting the institution of monarchy which is a job. And this is the queen also trying to give Harry and Meghan everything it is that they need to move forward so Now that the news is out there we can move on from it. But I'm with you I made. I didn't think even need the the use of the word royal. They're going to be just fine on their own. I was curious to know outside of the Royal Bubble. What the general public thought actually ran a poll on my twitter accounts and had quite a few thousand responses. Seventy one percents said no it. It is not important. Sussex's get to use word wall in their foundation name and the comments underneath basically said they don't need it. They are big enough on their own. You know and so on and I think that just shows that it's really I think paps when we look at how head up the press kits about this and how things have framed as you say paps people had seen this as a something personal towards a couple from the queen because I think the way these stories are often written in sort of Harry and Meghan slapped down in a banished or whatever it is that we've seen over the recent weeks and as you say it just comes down to preschool and logistics at the end of the day. What we really look at. Is the big picture. So okay. That's business then. Don't using the word royal but Harry maintains his place in line to the throne. They've maintained their HR H even though they can't use it in a in a commercial sense up. They've kept they've kept the style Harry remains a prince by extension as his wife. Megan remains a print says the United Kingdom. They maintain that you can duchess titles And they maintain the order of precedence. So that's the stuff of all of that had been stripped away and they just been left as plain old. Mister and Mrs. Mountbatten Windsor. Then you might be able to sound is getting a little bit more personal The fact that all of that remains tells you that queen very much wants to keep them within the fold of the Royal Family. They'll always be members of the royal family. They're just not part of the working members. So it's separating that personal and business side as well isn't it so Yes I think we can rest assured that the queen is not banishing them or punishing them And yes it's just sort of as you say things get a little hysterical in the media and then suddenly we we all kind of go along with that narrative and it's worth just saying okay. Let's let's look at the bigger picture here. It often paints a very different image. Exactly I think it was quite good Buckingham. Palace were able to announce all of the kind of confirm details of this new arrangement so soon after the Sussex Royal Debate because I think people perhaps you know it is important point out that they are still. Hr H they're just not using it because of their they're working roles have changed and the palace also went to point out. In relation to the Military Harry retains his ranks of Major Lieutenant Commander and leader and they spoke about this twelve month transition period this period of review Who is the only time that his honorary military positions won't be used so it obviously is leaving the door open for things to change moving forward? And I think they statement or this guidance from the palace really went at great lengths to paint a realistic picture of the situation that they haven't been stripped of any of their titles they still maintain the titles earl and Countess of Dumbarton and the Baron and baroness of kill kill. Not I think we've ever heard even in the Scottish press. Think Dumb Barton's of Mahita there and actually I think this twelve month review is a brilliant idea We'd sort of understood. In the beginning. I guess in the brew horror of of all the misinformation being reported as well that Harry was effectively with all his honorary military roles immediately so I actually really liked that. They've said as well that those honorary positions will not be filled by anyone else during this twelve month review period. And I think it's very generous as well that the door is being left open That speaks to the Queen's affection for this couple as well and I think probably the royal family rather optimistic Lee is hoping that perhaps at the end of the twelve months Harry and Meghan will decide to come back. I'd be very surprised if that happens. Because by then they will have started forging their own new pause and I expect all kinds of exciting things will be happening for them but at least in leaving the door open that tells you as well that they're not being punished and banished and cost out. And and forevermore Considered evil members of the family simply not the case so. I think the twelve month review will be helpful as well given as we said before. There is no blueprint model for anything like this. So a year from now they can say. Okay what's working? What's not working? How can we improve this? What does everybody need in order to continue to facilitate this in a positive fashion? Absolutely is a very lucky position to be am. I mean. Imagine being think of it in an autumn's imagine being unhappy and a job and being allowed to go ahead and do your own thing for twelve months and then review it at the end of the year. Brilliant I mean. That's that's the thing that way. That's the thing we you know that scares us about change. I think making being able to take away some of that. Fear about the unknown because there is always in the back of their mornings knowledge that things can be discussed at this side moving forward in twelve months time. It's important to keep the lines of communication. Open isn't et nothing The the Queen in his sixty eight years on the throne. Let's face it. She's learned to think or to Given everything she's been through and she's very wise even all her former prime ministers have said you go in there and you appreciate the as of wisdom and while she doesn't ever obviously tell them what to do. She can point to examples where things have happened that have been similar in the past and she can just offer wisdom and guidance and listening ear And Harry as we know in particular is very close to his grandmother. Nobody else could have done the MIC DRP video that he sent the Obamas with the Queen. they share a very similar sense of humor and they share a very warm bond So he doesn't want to let her down but in the same vein. She doesn't want to let him down. She'd be so sad if she was to suddenly never see her grandson his wife and her great grandson again. So we have to remember to as as much as we're looking at the institution of monarchy also looking at a family and it's easy to forget. Sometimes their family as well. It was very important. And this'll be. I think this time that Harry will have back home and Meghan will be a great time for not just the work but also time as a family away from I guess. Probably what's being an exhausting eight weeks of discussions bounce the future of the Sussex says? There's a lot more that we need to get to from this Buckingham Palace guidance. That was released this week but before we do. Let's take a quick break. We've got really packs itinerary that's being shared by the Palace Harry's hair for twelve days. I believe that Megan's here for slightly shorter period of time. But he kicks things off on the twenty eighth of February as you mentioned earlier with an engagement with Jon. Bon Jovi which. I love the sound of this. He'll be at studio to made famous by the Beatles Abbey Road Studios on that day as he and the invictus Games Choir rerecord his song unbroken in aid of the INVICTUS Games Foundation. I imagined this song. Although released in March will make it sort of big stage. Debut at the INVICTUS Games Games in the Hague in May. But it's a fun engagement. And we saw that great little teaser on the Sussex Orleans. Graham ACCOUNTS OF FICTIONAL. I must point out text. Conversation between Jumbo Jovian Hurry. It was fun though. Was I mean what a nice way? It's just kind of just to have a little fun with it. Not The old sort of stage released a statement. It's just and of course that was criticized As everything is these days you damned either way And I think we just have to accept that that is the way things are moving forwards regardless of who. You are celebrity politician. Ore indeed a royal but I think this is going to be a lot of fun. That's probably going to be a major goosebumps moment at the opening ceremony of the INVICTUS Games. When you go to big choir like that in Jon. Bon Jovi fronting it. I mean you can already tell. It's going to be amazing. No doubt that'll be a UK number one single as well So I think this'll be fun and Harry as well having had a little time away. I think we're going to see the best version of Harry. He's going to be having fun because he knows that. This is sort of his final Hurrah as a royal Before he begins this next chapter which I expect. They're very excited about so. I think we're going to really see the best of this couple as they conduct these engagements because I think they'll be keen to show the British public as well that yes they are spending a percentage of the time in North America but they all as committed to the UK as well absolutely and some people were big puzzled. By the fact. That Jon Bon Jovi with actually even involved in this but I don't think it's as well documented over here but certainly in the US as being very outspoken. About his work when it comes to military veterans both of his parents also served in the US Marines and this song really is dedicated to those from all branches of personnel and military ranks Basically using music to aid their recovery. So it's really a I think the song will be very important to him and to hurry and and a really smart choice. Oh so jump on. Job is well known for his charitable endeavors and we really touched on before in two thousand thirteen he joined Taylor swift and Prince William onstage They were raising money that night. Four centerpoint So clearly this is something he loves to do. He loves to be involved. He's massively successful global superstar. This is the way you give back when you have that kind of platform. Absolutely and any engagements continue. We've got Harry and Meghan side by side at the Endeavor Fund awards which recognizes wounded injured and sick service personnel. It's spoke about goosebumps earlier. This is a nights of goosebumps..

That was the time when they were thinking about. The Sussex will brandon. And I think soon as everything changed for them on not being able to continue as sort of part time working royals. I think they would have been far from surprised when they finally heard. That might not be possible to use the role name moving forward and I don't even know if that's something that the couple particularly wants because of cost their lives have completely changed in the last month or so. They thought that they would be working. Still for you know for the Royal Family as well as doing their own thing and of course that's completely changed so I think we talk about this independence. They have this freedom that they have. It makes sense to also do away with any royal branding as well and as you say. I think that in the long run. They'll appreciate as the palace said that the couple of agreed to an initial twelve month review to ensure that the arrangements of this situation works well and so by not having royal on their name their sort of I guess helping themselves in the long run it's prevents to if I couldn't agree more and think actually it doesn't matter for Harry and Meghan if you just say Harry and Meghan. In relation to the Military Harry retains his ranks of Major Lieutenant Commander and leader and they spoke about this twelve month transition period this period of review Who is the only time that his honorary military positions won't be used so it obviously is leaving the door open for things to change moving forward and I think the statement or this guidance from the palace really went at great lengths to paint a realistic picture of the situation that they haven't been stripped of any of their titles they still maintain the titles earl and Countess of Dumbarton and the Baron and Baroness of kill kill? "The Ano- everyone and welcome back to another episode of the airports seven days of flying by. And we've got a whole load of news to discuss this week. It's been incredibly busy particularly for the Sussex who have finally tied a bow on all of the speculation and talk around departure as working members of the royal family. Got Brand new information from Buckingham Palace to Digest and talk through and I'll be joined by WorldCom and Tastes Victoria. Arbiter to go through all of that later in the show but this week we also saw the queen returned to work and engagements after returning from. Sandringham last month. She officially opened a major new medical facility in London that house to Specialists Hospitals under one roof and she was a visitor at the Royal Anti Hospital and Eastman Dental Hospital. That was where she saw firsthand. The buck being carried out across the facility visiting adult dental and pediatric treatment floors and speaking to a number of the patients there as well. So it's great to see. Her back in action has been sort of quiet time for her busy time for her behind the scenes. But we haven't seen as many engagement somehow recently so it's great to see her back in the swing of things and we also saw. Prince Charles celebrating a landmark moment. This week it was fifty years officially since he first spoke about the environment and He shed special interview through Clarence House Talking about when he first became to care talking about when he first came to care about the environments fifty years ago reflecting on a speech that he made in one thousand nine hundred seventy where he spoke about many of the issues that we're now talking about today that a very much trending topics he spoke about the growing menace of oil pollution at sea and the growing pollution from gases pumped out by endless cars and aeroplanes and it was really interesting to hear. Just how informed. He was a time when very few others were thinking about this subject. He himself said that people thought he was party. Remember years ago in the sixties when I was a teenager minding so much about things that were going on the destruction of everything unilever uprooting trees and hedgerows and trading.
