bringing you some of the most important we hope informative conversations we had on our daily Bloomberg business week radio show across the week right in conversations that were happening as we know the news continue to change around us and one of the guests that we caught up with it Everitt sands he is the founder and CEO of Linda street a fintech company it's a company that focuses on lending to very small businesses especially those owned by minorities women and veterans and I really felt like he is another one of those voices that helped open up kind of our eyes to what's going on in America yeah looking forward to hearing that when back plus another edition of business week talks our conversation with Hilton worldwide president and CEO Chris Nassetta first up though let's go inside the magazine it's a story that kid that Lee is hard to read it's about black CEOs in technology and the fact that humiliation well that is part of the job we caught up with reporter Sarah McBride well it's just a sad state of affairs another way where if the look on balance sheet is disappointing this time when it comes to African American founders play with my colleagues and I'm recorded a story where it was just job dropping the number of anecdotes we heard from black founders and holidays Chad and subtly and not so subtly that treated every step of the way and leave that white pounders never have to think about yeah I mean and and it's interesting Serra because what you guys do a really nice job of the ministry and I have to say it's one of those stories that you have to read it and as you're reading it it's actually hard to read and submit its horrifying in in in a lot of cases and and sort of embarrassing and in a lot of we have to think about yeah because it is anecdotal through your story but also appears to be systemic this is not sort of these one off things that that that are happening to me this is constantly happening right in fact one founder who I talked to who isn't in the story basically told me she was insulted that is so well documented the recent then and telecom valley she asked me why do I even still have to talk to you to explain how meet the seller can valley if can't we move behind behind the anecdote and the founder and that was the leader of the story will hate somebody a mad at the dinner maybe five or six years ago and historians have stuck with me all those years and when that moment came I knew it was the time to approach him and ask if you go on the record with that and he's somebody who's run a company listed work for many years and has raised many venture around but the company and one of his key HM and for many years the template marketing happen whenever they went to a meeting together very often and that investors would just as soon as marketing had with the female and reach out their hand to him first and shake the wrong guys handed Hey hi will that it was horrifying but it also became funny when it happened you know they had dozens and dozens of times over the years I spoke to both of them in the end and they said that that that happened at the meeting got off on that but there was just no recovery and then yeah you would never raise money from that venture firm because the fee would realize the mistake and just be so mortified that they would want to end the meeting as quickly as possible and there was never a check written on any of those burns he told me about one time he meant that one hundred million dollar round last year when he was sitting in a meeting the investor had made that mistake and Willis five or ten minutes and then the presentation in the investor interrupted and said you know I just want to say again how very sorry I am that I made that mistake once told well that the investor had heard nothing for the creek right ten minutes he's still in there and it's just an unpleasant situation when you're forced to deal with your own basis and and certainly for the founder not conducive to raising any money.
