I just have to ask you as a latino yourself. What does selena mean to you. I grew up admiring and listening to selena. And you know she's an icon. Surata stars in selena this friday on that flicks them excited for new fancy lives in. Selena is my iconic that portrait right there. I have her right there at all times. Twenty five years after her shocking murder selena's legacy lives on having the family involved. It's just been so amazing. Because it gives us this incredible insight into for life before she was the star that we know her should be. Now how did you prepare for the role. I just did a very deep dive on all things. So i tried to find as many photos as i could. She's from a very specific region in south texas. And i wanted to perfect dot as much as i could the vocal coach even though it is salinas. Singing just wanted to understand how she say and moved her mouth and her stage presence. We had an incredible choreographer. The show it gives me chills so many times. I've cried like it's just. It's so exciting. I'm just really happy to be telling this story again.

"Peter surata. I and joining me today is slash on weekend editor Brennaman, that's me and writers watcher and Billy me one. Chris evangelista? Hello, folks. Okay. It's getting yesterday's podcast. I mentioned the Twitter was getting rid of the lakes and re tweet numbers. Apparently like everything online it. We were freaking out over nothing, and they're just like hiding it under like a you've pushing you expanding like a little bit of a the the tweet. So don't worry guys. Those numbers are still going to be there in Chris. You could still people could still see how popular you're re tweets are. Yeah. But that's like an extra step who wants to take that step. I wanted to just be there like a banner like I'm wearing a sash that says. Cream os? Yeah. I I don't want people have to go through the effort. Yeah. I actually wish those away that I could see like what the most retweeted or like things timeline were because then I could see what's important. I guess there isn't there is I it doesn't do predict specifically that it just shows what you might be interested in which is not particularly like the most liked tweeted things. Okay. Guys. We gotta get to the news. Good talk about movies. Let's talk about pet cemetery. Which Chris you're gonna see when this weekend? Yes. Saturday night. I am flying to Austin tomorrow and Saturday night, I will be seeing it at south by south west. But unfortunately, Chris you're not going to be seeing in forty x. I know I'm this news broken. I was a little like, unlike maybe I'll cancel my trip and go see it and forty x instead because paramount is now screening not now, but eventually sometime this year is planning to screen pet cemetery in forty x forty x is of course, the ultra immersive cinema experience where that shares shake, and they shoot water at you and Fahd comes out. And there are since it's it's it's three D plus smell-a-vision. Plus, I don't even know it's a whole thing. It's actually even more than that. There's like things like like things that can poke you in the back. There's things that can touch the back year legs..

"In chief Peter Surata. And until spike gassed, I'm gonna take you to the set of marvel studios latest film, captain marvel or in a play some of the interviews that I along with other journalists conducted onset, those interviews include Samuel Jackson who reprises role as Nick fury. Ben Mendelsohn who plays a scroll in the new film, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz and booklets start things off with us. Samuel Jackson who I'm not sure if you guys know this, but he I interviewed Sam a bunch of different times. And he kinda get get some joy from his no fucks giving attitude as you'll see here. He really likes to challenge. Reporters with dismissive responses. I think he gets kind of a kick out of it. And it's kind of fun my favorite part of this interview is one of the journalists onset. I think it was Perry from collider asks Sam if you could talk a little bit about what it feel what it means to him to play a big supporting role in the first female lead marvel superhero film in Sam you'll see gives this kind of dismissive response. And you'll see this is kind of the game that Sam plays because Perry kind of you know, goes to bat and challenges him. And I think we actually get the best enter out of that confrontation. I I love talking to Sam Jackson, and I think you'll enjoy this interview. Let's see none of these mother fuckers. I. Sorry to see her disintegration skits with issue. The back in action. You have. Guessing Dotson stuff on your face. Get any injuries tank. Turn to join the conduct tribe and this initiation rite. Pretty cool. I am I'm been spanked. Anybody yet with the hazing is pretty pretty tough. It's okay. I played Nick fury. Did you ever think you'd get to explore his backstory you are in this one? And what is that like?.

"Give it a little light. But wait until danger of spring frost is gone before you bring that plant outside. So what if the leaves are looking all yellow and spindly because it hasn't been getting much light. Even though it started growing, would you would you cut it back? Or would you just let it go? No. You don't wanna cut it back because it contains the germ of the flowers. Exactly. Yeah. So what you wanna do is introduce it to the real deal sunlight gradually put it into shady spot and gradually bring it into slightly more light. So that it doesn't get burned. And so that it can get up to speed once it's acclimated to the real world and real sunlight, then you convert allies it, okay? So sale is this advice for all hydrangea or specifically for blue hydrangea is the blues and pinks those are the hydrangea as that formed their flowers on what we call old would. Okay. Other words in in August of the previous year, they formed buds that will be the flowers for the next year. And it's those buds that we have to get to the winter most of the white drain jus-, and even the invincible spirit, the pink Annabel, those bloom on new growth, and so you don't have to grow those in pots indoors that people in cold climates can very easily grow the peninsula. Ladas the PG hydrangea as they can very easily grow the smooth hydrangea as like Annabel invincible spirit about oak leaf and oak-leaf also flower on old wood. But there are a little bit heartier than the pilots and little hardier than the the Surata the lace caps. And by the way, a some of the if you look at the species name on hydrangea as if you see a hydrangea. With the species of Surata that tends to be slightly hardier slightly more, but hardy than the macro files are and so people could look for that. And some of the examples of currently sold Surata lace caps include the tough stuff series in the let's dance series. Those have a lot of Surata breeding or a little bit more, but hearty. All right. I just want to circle back to this blue topic froggy 'cause I bet you I'm not the only one who interpreted that title a little bit differently. Can you just say a word about soil acidity? I think most people understand that it's the more acid soils that produce the blue flowers in the more alkaline soils that will turn those flowers pink. If you're growing the kind of hydrogen that can have its flower color manipulated that way. If if like me, you're in love with that blue color. I have read that anywhere from four point five to five point five is the ph level that I should be aiming for would you say, that's right. And if somebody lives in an alkaline soil area like myself does that mean, I should do it in the container? Well, I think it certainly easier to manipulate ph in a container than it is in the ground. You know, if you have solidly alkaline soil, it takes work to make it and keep it acidic, right? Yes. To keep putting sulphur down or something else in order to make it a civic by the same token, if you live in the northeast where we have naturally acidic soils it takes work to turn that soil alkaline and you have to keep putting the lime down. So certainly if you live in a place where you have alkaline soil, you want blue hydrangea, it would be easier to do if you grew them in a pot. Yes. And would you? You say that between four point five and five point five is is what you're aiming for for soil city. I would say that's what you're aiming for. But I would say that people usually don't have to bother measuring the PH because they'll know when they hit it, right? Because they're flowers will be blue. Yeah. Is there a Decatur? That's right. So they don't they don't have to worry as much about the numbers as they do about what they see in terms of the flower color. It's actually aluminum that turns these flowers blow, but it is the ph of the soil that determines how much aluminum is absorbed..

"Thank you very much Surata. I am drew Smith here. Talking about the upcoming Colorado Springs Veterans Day parade. Now, this is a lot of this means a lot to this community. We have five military bases here in the area. And I know this because I confirmed this with Greg rose who is the vice president of the Colorado Springs Veterans Day parade, and we also have Courtney wall who is the executive assistant. So Courtney, and I are going to talk more about the parade coming up, but Greg if we could let's talk a little bit about this this parade, and really why you established it here in the community. And why it's so important. Sure, we want to honor the veterans in the community both current as well as past and we've been doing this since the year two thousand is a nonprofit event we have no solicitations and no commercial vendors. And generally we bring out roughly thirty five to forty thousand people if the weather's good and a few less if the weather's not so good on parade day. Let's talk a little bit about the event what we can expect. So Courtney tell us win. This is exactly where it is. So the parade is on Saturday November third at ten AM. It will be on Taylor street between Saint rain, and it will end on Verma hope. Yes. And I encourage people to get down and get a spots are community does really come out. For these events. Now, Courtney this is new to you. So you're going to be new to this parade. But Greg if we could years past does a community really come out in the show support. Oh, yes. We we've got some great supporters that are out there every year, not only parents and friends and relatives of folks that are marching in the parade. But as well as those folks who like to just come out and waving flags say hi to the veterans that are on our floats and marching and mass. There you go. Now, Courtney let's talk a little bit about the veterans that are going to be on the floats. What kind of organizations, and who are we going to see in this parade? We have tons of organizations. We have close to a hundred participant groups. Did I say that right? We're going to have people from VFW's American legions. We have. Participants from fort Carson as well as Peterson and shreve her and a lot of veteran, we have high school ROTC groups as well. As a lot of other veteran affiliated activities that come out every year. Some of these groups have been with us since almost the beginning or in the beginning as well as every year, we generally pick up five to ten new groups. I must mention that registration for this year's parade. From arching groups is over. But if you want to participate next year, keep an eye on our website, they will talk about here at the end. Absolutely. And this is what you do this. There's no other events that you have you all year work on putting together this wonderful parade. We we have a lot of fun set up. We have horses. We have motorcycles. The sky SOX baseball is participate in this year with the float. So you're gonna see socks the FOX out there. That guy owes me a handshake every time I go to shake his head. He he always he always. There's quite a few marching bands from the local high schools. We also have a military flyover with some local C one thirties that'll be coming through now, though, C one thirties are those the big ones with the propellers shake the whole house when they fly over or indeed they're coming out of Peterson. Yeah. You cannot miss those ones. And they're they're fun to see. And they're they're huge. They're bigger than you, would you know, they look like little microscopic planes in the air but over and a lot of those planes are being flown by local Colorado residents. Hey, that's awesome. So we can get out there. And now if we want to stay on top of this event, what's a good website and some other resources. So our website is C O S vets parade dot org. You can look us up on Facebook. And and you just simply look for Colorado Springs Veterans Day parade on Facebook. Yes, sir. Guys pop up right there. And also, let's not bury the headline here. It's free. It.
