So you stay tuned. You're listening to the best of Todd and don on news. Radio, K o B. J kalen. Good morning. Hey, How are you, Caitlyn? Hang on a second, It says here on the screen that you actually run a Texas fertility clinic. Yeah. Texas Fertility Center. All right, all right. There you go. Tell it Tell us what your thoughts are on this Well, there's a bunch of things. There's a bunch of points I wanna discuss with this, And the first thing is that I totally agree with you that in general, we should refer patients to their physicians. Absolutely. And they should be able to ask their positions. You know what's the right thing for me to do in my specific health situation? Doctor should be able to one should be the ones to be the ultimate decision makers and Patients to be referred to their positions. But in this situation is different. And the reason it's different because no doctor has a practice big enough where they can actually study this themselves. And there's very little published information that we can refer to when we're talking to patients, so we can't say Hey, you know what? There's a study of 50,000 pregnant women and everybody did well or 5% didn't do well or whatever. They're just no studies like that yet so Referring patients to their position while in general. Sounds like a great idea. The problem is, you know, with this situation. We don't have the data yet, So there's nothing doctors can tell the patients, so that's one situation. The other issue is if you look at the mechanism of the vaccine have the vaccine works. Based on this. These are in a vaccines. There's no obvious mechanism whereby that vaccine should cause a problem either for the woman or for her baby. Now. That doesn't mean that there isn't a mechanism that will discover in the future. But it's realistically gonna be years before we know the answer that question and the final point that I want to make it is that we know the effect of the virus. The virus is bad. There's no question about it, and it appears to be worse if you get the virus during pregnancy, and that's why the recommendation from the Center for Disease Control is that you should. If you're pregnant now, you should go ahead and get the virus should go and get the vaccine. Because we have every reason to believe that the vaccine is not as bad as getting the virus and vaccine may not be bad at all. So I think that that's where that's why the recommendations are the way they are at the moment. That makes sense. I got what you said. If you had, you know the experience of pregnant women getting the vaccine. If you had this conversation come up with some some patients. Now I have this conversation every single day because you know everybody that we see it. Texas Fertility is trying to get pregnant. Hmm. And so you know, we had this conversation every single day. Should I get the vaccine? Should I not get back? What's the risk? Well, we don't know the risk. I mean, you know, let's say for you know, God forbid. This vaccine turns out to cause developmental problems and kids. We may not know that for five or 10 years, but we don't have the luxury of waiting for 5 to 10 years to vaccinate whether you're trying to get pregnant. And most pregnant and most women who are trying to get pregnant. Don't have the luxury of waiting 5 to 10 years to try and get pregnant. Well, what do you tell? Ah young, healthy mother. Let's say she's in her early twenties, she comes to your clinic. She's pregnant and whatever and I mean, she says, Listen, this virus is 99.9% recoverable. Why would I take a chance with that shot? Well, First of all, she's exactly right. It's you know, 99.9% or whatever 9.6% recover with minimal to no long term effects there. Two problems number one we know from multiple published studies that the that the virus is worse in pregnancy. So if you were a pregnant woman, you are more than likely gonna have a worst course. Than a non pregnant woman is that could be because their immune system is already being put to the test. You're creating a baby, so there's some hormone issues there, right where there's a lot of different issues, and we don't know the mechanism. We don't know if it's hormonal. We don't know if it's because of your immune system effects. I mean, the amuse system in pregnancy is kind of funny anyway, But regardless we think that pregnancies and immunologically privileged state. We don't think that that your immune system tends to attack a pregnancy. Should pregnant women quick example. Give you quick examples. God forbid, a woman gets kidney failure if we have to do it that emergency transplant and take a kidney out of her husband, for example, and put that in her body. Okay, within a week. Surely the reject that kid near the kidney will start to attack her because it's not the same didna, right? But yet we can. We can cause a pregnancy. You know, a man and a woman can just have sex. Get pregnant. The woman carries a baby. A £7 baby did by definition is 50% not heard Nana, but she doesn't need any India suppression and to carry that further, we can use donor eggs. We can create a pregnancy with a donor egg. Her husband's sperm. She could carry a £7, baby. This 100% not her didna, but she doesn't need any immunosuppression. She does just fine. So we think that pregnancy is privileged. It's a It's a even a logical privilege state So it's a different situation. Would you advise expecting moms toe? You know, limit their exposure out the public, like in restaurants, or even in a TV. Everybody needs to do that common sense..
