"Um, there is another rumor and this is, uh, good stuff for the movie, but the character of Vesper Lind and Casino Royale, the great James Bond novel and films, uh, apparently was based on Granville because she reportedly had an affair with Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond novels. Pretty neat. Did you know, I think we talked about it before, but Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl, the guy who's, uh, who created Charlie and Chocolate Factory, they were both spies for the Brits in America. Yeah. I just find that endlessly fascinating. Yeah, there's, we should do an episode on that stuff. That's good. Okay. So, um, Christine Granville actually had reached the point in her forties where she was ready to settle down with Kowarski. Um, and was like, okay, we're going to, he's a Kennedy after all, right. Where it's going to start. Um, he was definitely afraid of wifi and she was like, what's wifi? He's like, just wait and see. So, um, she was ready to settle down, started a new normal everyday life. And, um, she was visited at that Polish Relief Society hotel or boarding house by a guy that she had either had an affair with or had turned down, who was a coworker on the cruise ship with her. His name was Dennis Moldowny. And he stalked her and approached her in the lobby of that boarding house and stabbed her in the heart and killed her because he was so obsessed with her. He, he, he said later that to kill is the final possession. Which is an awful, awful sentiment. And I mean, good God. And he also said that he was still very much in love with her. So he murdered her out of just jealous obsession. Like if he couldn't have her, no one could. And that's how Christine Granville, after all the danger she put herself in, after all the services she provided to the allies, the good guys, objectively the good guys in World War II, she, she was murdered by a jealous jerk. Yeah. And in her, what sort of early forties, still a young woman, very, very sad. Yeah, by this crazed stalker. Kowarski for his part, AKA Kennedy, lived till 1988. And his ashes at his request were flown to London to be interred alongside Granville's. Kowarski, and we mentioned that Khmer guy was a good guy. Then three other guys said who had been close to with Granville. They formed the panel to protect the memory of Christine Granville after her death. To, you know, she had a life full of, you know, marital affairs and sexual encounters and things like that. And they didn't want her story to be just sort of scandalized, I think, after her death and for people to focus in on that kind of thing. So they actually blocked biographies successfully for a while for coming out, blocked articles from coming out. Eventually, though, articles and biographies would come out that would tell the full sort of proud story of her life and not in a scandalous way. And the whole thing kind of like tilted the world, showed that it was ready for, to appreciate Christine Granville. When Claire Mulley, the historian, released the book, The Spy Who Loved, colon, The Secrets and Lives of Christine Granville, that came out in 2012. And it's like the definitive biography on Granville. And it was extremely well received. And Chuck, you can rest assured that there's a good chance we will be frozen extras in the movie because they are making at least one movie about it. Yeah, at one point, Kate Winslet was attached to something. Would have loved to have seen that because Kate Winslet is the best. But there's one called The Partisan that's supposedly shooting now with Roman Polanski's daughter, Morgane, playing Granville. Yep. Who knew? I didn't know I had a daughter. I didn't know either, but that, that adds up. French Polish actress. Sure. Yeah. Malcolm McDowell's in it too. And I don't, I can't, I just can't, I can't feel settled when he's on the screen. No, he's, I mean, he's old, but who would he be playing? Oh, maybe Churchill. That's gotta be Gary Oldman or somebody, right? Uh, you know, that's Andy McDowell's father, right? No, no, I swear to God, that's Andy McDowell's father. Malcolm McDowell? Yes. I thought she was like from the American South. She is. She was born and raised in North Carolina, but that is her father. Wow. I had no idea. We know Margaret Qualley is his granddaughter then, I guess. Yes. And she's married to Jack Aronoff? No, wait, Andy McDowell's not his daughter. Yes, she is. Or no, okay, then she's Roddy McDowell's daughter. Close, both British, same last name. One was Caligula, one was, um, the dude from clock reforms. Well, now I feel like I don't have to check you, but now I got to look up Roddy McDowell. No, that one I'm sure of. Look it up. Are you sure? Yeah, we'll wait. All right. Well say something else. Like, you know, why don't you read listener mail or something? Oh, well, how about this? I'll set you up for listener mail while you're looking and you can tell us on the other side of the chime, whether I'm right or not, if you want to know more about Christine Granville, you can check out Claire Mulley's book, the spy who loved, and there's plenty of other great stuff on the internet to read about her too. And then look out for me and Chuck in the movie. And since I said, look out for me and Chuck in the movie, it's time for listener mail. All right. I'm going to call this, uh, Roddy McDowell was actually gay and never married. Good Lord. Okay. Well then let's, let's reverse this course. Who is Andy McDowell's father? Well, that's what I was going to say. That would be the sensible thing to do. Uh, I do know Margaret Qualley's her daughter. I know that. No, that's definitely true. She was in, um, maid. Have you seen maid? Uh, you know, I never saw that. Um, it's on the list. It is really good. And Andy McDowell, who I'm not usually a huge fan of as an actress. I don't think she's well used very, very much as far as characters go. She really nails it as Margaret Qualley's kind of like, um, ne'er do well mom who's still trying to be in her life. It's just a, just a really great kind of gut wrenching movie. Yeah. And I can also recommend while we're here, the movie sanctuary. Uh, it was out last year with Margaret Qualley and, uh, who's that guy? I really liked him a lot. He was in girls. Uh, Christopher Abbott, of course. And it's a, it's sort of a two person movie and it's really, really good. Highly recommended. And by the way, in case you wondered, Amy McDowell's dad, uh, was a lumber executive from South Carolina named Malcolm McDowell. Who's also the actor Marion, the St. Pierre McDowell. Wow. That was a journey. I've got another movie for you. Since we're talking about movies, I got two. As a matter of fact, one, let's hear it. My niece Mila is in a movie that's out on the big screen called the Hill. Yes. Okay. It's called the Hill. It's a super duper Christian movie. Um, like legitimately, like they, they call out Jesus Christ, but the, the preacher's not like set up to be like a demonstration of, of hypocrisy. He's actually like a preacher. Um, usually not my genre, but, and I probably wouldn't have seen it had my niece not been in it, but it is actually really good. And Dennis Quaid is the, the father, the main character and he does an excellent job and it's just a, it's worth seeing. It's pretty uplifting and Mila just knocks it out of the park as the young version of the main dude's love interest. Boy, Mila is just killing it. Yes. And that is so great. You guys must be so excited. Oh yeah. It was so cool to go to them, like just a normal movie theater and get popcorn and then see our niece up there on the big screen. I love it. That is amazing. The other one was the black hole, the Disney one from 1979. I just had an itch to watch it and man, does it hold up. You think so? Okay. Yep. It's even better than I remembered as a kid. All right. Okay. So that was it, Chuck. I'm going to call this a 10 year old request. We don't usually read requests, but we like hearing from our young listeners and this is from Henry. Uh, dear Josh and Chuck, my name is Henry and I'm 10 years old. Really love your podcast and I listen to it every day on the way to school. I'm writing in mainly because I think you should make an episode about the psychology, uh, where if you paint all the walls of a room black or a different dark color, it makes the said room feel much smaller. Now I know I could just read an article about this, but that would just be boring. Plus I'd rather hear it from you guys. So whatever time of day you're reading this, a farewell to you. I would, I would love to see that episode come out. Bye. And that is Henry and Henry. I think that would make a great short stuff. Yep. Uh, how color affects the perception of size. I love it. Nice. Thanks a lot, Henry. We appreciate that. We appreciate your charming character as well. Thank you for adding that to the email. It could have been totally boring and straightforward and you didn't do that. So thanks. That's right. Go Henry. "So it would have been a pretty quick evolution Yeah, I think this one makes a lot of sense street criers. I mean England and London especially says has a long tradition of Street-corner barkers and things like this, right? I remember seeing one myself when I traveled there in the 90s and I was like they're still doing this stuff Yeah, it was like a box in the park where you can go stand on it and soapbox maybe I mean that's where that came from right probably and And just you know shout your peace. Sure and it's all guy doing it and I thought what year is this? This is wonderful, right? It's fantastic. But the in particular the shaunters they sang and then sold penny Ballads. Yeah sheet music of penny ballads that they would write real quick after somebody famous died or there was a train wreck or something They'd write a ballad about it and then be out in the corner selling these things Wow, but because they were singing in rhymes and sing-song It's a really good bet that these guys were the ones who originated rhyming slang. Yeah, but not necessarily for any kind of Intentionally coded language because that same guy Dick Sullivan says There's no reason for Paterers who sold their you know, little gee-gaws or trinkets or whatever. I love that word Or shaunters who were selling these penny ballots. They worked alone There was no need for them to come up with a coded language communicate with one another Yeah in front of a customer who they were ripping off because they didn't need to communicate with one another in front of customers Well, I saw that maybe they you know could communicate with each other when customers were around or something Right, but the the other part of that is that it supposedly flies in the face of how slang develops that it's Unintentional, right? Like you don't say let's come up with a coded language and here's how it works Yeah, even like American teenagers when they have slang that their parents don't understand Like you remember how that stuff went. It was something you just heard you never sat around sure I'm hip to that and said, you know, like hey Let's use this other word that our parents won't know what it means right, you know, we'll call it Pepsi when we're on the phone There was also the Victorian backslang Which that was not cockney rhyming slang that was just pronouncing words backwards Sort of simple like yob for boy Yes, but something interesting about that is that it's based on the spelling not the pronunciation Right, which is suggests a strong degree of literacy Which you would probably not have found among at least the patters, right? Probably among the shaunters because they were writing songs and ballads, right? So it's possible they came up with that, too But they think maybe it was butchers and butchers assistants who came up with backslang. Oh, really? Yeah and actually to Confused customers or to be able to talk about what price they should charge a customer in front of the customer, right? So there is like you take all these different pieces and you get the current idea and story for cockney rhyming slang But it's actually a bunch of different stuff. Yeah, that wasn't really all connected until later on Yeah, what it probably also was not was Irish dock workers Yeah There was one theory being bandied about that Irish stock workers would come over and they would speak in this made-up rhyming slang So, you know they could just talk among their Irish peers and the people of London wouldn't understand them Not much of this makes any sense at all. Yeah, because they don't I think now you see it some in Ireland, but For all those years that it was prevalent in London. It was not in Ireland Right, unless they literally just made it up when they came over from Ireland, right? Plus why would they not to speak Irish in front of the English who might not speak it? Yeah, or what would that be Gaelic? Sure, I think so. We're getting so much of this wrong Do you want to take a break in fact check everything and maybe just rewind and start over? Yeah, let's let's get our Wait, what was facts our brass tacks? That's right. So we got to go get our brass straight. Just go to t-mobile comm slash now to learn more Okay We're back It's been about 30 minutes since we left you guys Fact-checked everything and so far so good. Yeah, this is a perfect podcast So you said at the beginning you teased out that it might not even have been cockney to begin with Everything I saw Kind of placed it in that That East I think they call it cheap side really area Wow Where the cockneys were but cockney was also I mean, it's also not necessarily specifically a one place, right? No but if you're talking about cockney people supposedly the Definition of a cockney person is someone who's born within hearing distance of the bells of st. Mary LeBeau. Okay in cheap side Which was in London what this guy John Camden Houghton who was writing in 1860 and placed the Place the origin of rhyming slang 12 to 15 years before so this guy was like on top of it as it was happening. Yeah He placed it at a place called seven dials, which is like a big marketplace and I think still is Which is a mile and a half away from cheap side At the time was in Westminster at the time a different town, right? So you had City of London and then Westminster which is where seven dials was So if you're if you believe Houghton, then it wasn't the cockney at all who came up with that. It was those patters and Sean tours That's a different word than I said no Sean tours Well cockney has what that is though is just sort of the working class, right? I think used to be viewed as Uneducated and sort of lower-class That may be a bit harsh, but if anything it was not the upper crust of British society, right? You know the the pub the hard-drinking pub goers rub-a-dub-dub goers Is that pubs? Yeah, which is another exception because you go from one one syllable pub, uh-huh to rub-a-dub-dub And it actually has three rhymes in there. Oh, but that is cockney rhyming slang for pub Well, but the cockneys were also known for a bit more of progressive politics and I think nowadays there can be a bit more of a of a pride of like a working-class pride associated with it I think there was back then too was there. Mm-hmm, but I think that's one reason also why the cockney accent and cockney rhyming slang in particular was Just treated shabbily and looked down on You know by the rest of England right because it was supposedly, you know associated with lower classes Yeah, it also found its way to Australia Isn't that right and then? somehow on the west coast of America Where the Australian version came in? Yeah in the prisons of the west coast in the u.s. It was called Australian rhyming slang. So I guess some cool guy from Australia showed up and was Speaking in gibberish that just made everyone think I want to do this, too, right It's kind of fun to go on YouTube though and see some of these, you know, because it's such a big thing in England It's been all over the BBC. I watched one episode of the two Ronnie's where this priest did a sermon in cockney rhyming slang Very funny and one of those sort of you know 80s. I guess it was 80s early 80s BBC comedies are always fun right, you know, the production value is not all there The laugh track is it had to have been a laugh track. I don't think it was a studio audience Although it may have been I don't know. It was hard to tell that's all that's during the transition but there were other shows not on your Nellie and the Sweeney and The titles of both of those shows come from actual cockney rhyming slang as well. Yeah, the Sweeney is Particularly dense. It's short for Sweeney Todd, which was rhyming slang for Flying Squad Which is a particular branch of the Metropolitan Police kind of like major case Which was a Sweeney was like the major case division of Metropolitan Police So Nellie comes from the word Nellie Duff the name Nellie Duff, which is apparently just a nonsense name And that rhymes with puff Which means life so not on your Nellie means not on your life. Yeah clearly It's so dense and then of course things like you mentioned Guy Ritchie really brought it into The American consciousness. Mm-hmm in the 90s when he made those two movies, right? Hey, you brought it into my consciousness. I'll tell you that. Yeah, sure So there's a really good question Chuck that I think we need to ask how is it that in 2019? Uh-huh. You and I are analyzing a hyper local slang that came out of the 1840s yeah in you know very specific part of London Like how is cockney rhyming slang still around after all this year all these years when so much other slang is come and gone over The years that we have no idea ever even existed. What's the staying power of cockney rhyming slang? Do you expect me to have an answer? Yeah, I Don't have one about why it's stuck around other than people, you know If people don't still use it, then it would have fallen by the wayside. So clearly it's Ignition of it, but seems to have gotten more popular in the last 20 years what I was reading is that especially in the UK? It's popularity is based on kitschiness. Yeah, you know kind of like hipster irony Uh-huh, like the cockney rhyming word for wife is trouble and strife So I imagine that probably doesn't go over very well If you don't call your wife that with a smile like you're joking right kind of thing Uh-huh. So I think that's the that's the current Use of it, uh-huh, but I mean it's it was used and it's still in use and there's still new words like Posh and Bex is the word for sex. Oh, really? That's pretty new Apparently Britney Spears. Mm-hmm can be used for beers, which is great and I saw one Nelson Mandela. Mm-hmm. If you're getting a Stella Artois. Yeah, this is a Nelson Mandela for Stella So the fact that it's still evolving Yeah, still being contributed to new like these existing words are being replaced with new ones And the fact that it's a hundred and fifty years old. I mean, there's got to be some thing to it that makes it more More I think I think it's that it's just so Hard to understand until someone explains it to you. I think it's fun. I think it's a fewfold. It's fun. It's to be it's fun It's fun It's there is a code to it and Part of the fun is that I think his friends may be trying to make something up and having it catch on sure It's almost like a game like a word game. Yeah a bit Did you just go a bit and then The the the unique Britishness of it all yeah is has a lot to do with it Yeah, because even though it got exported to Australia no one associates it with Australia Sorry, Australia But if we like if it really took off in America with hipsters people in Britain would probably be like forget it It's one that it's fun. Well, what is flown the coop? What could you say for coop? It's um, it's on the Gwyneth and the goop So the Gwyneth it's flown the Gwyneth Okay, that one might catch on I can do this all day No, some of them aren't so good but other ones are gems the why of it all though to begin with I thought was interesting I asked you why and you said you don't know you said why is it sticking around? I mean, why did it start to begin with? Oh, okay And I think you know Ed makes a pretty good point that they're just rhyming period has always been a thing right even in the States and he uses Examples like see you later alligator after a while crocodile. Like I remember saying that when I was a kid I just said that yesterday. Did you really? Yeah. See you later alligator There's just something about it. Maybe it's the childlike nature of it. That's fun. It makes old people feel young again Yes, I mean like it takes something boring and adds a little flair to it, you know, or like Yiddish like fancy-schmancy I love that people say that kind of stuff all the time. I never associated it with Yiddish, but it absolutely is, isn't it? I think so. I mean not outright Yiddish, but Yiddish culture, I think so But yeah, it is strange it is strange that it started to begin with and like I wish there was a definite like person zero That we could point to yeah And you know on the streets of London and someone thought it was funny and then they told two friends and so on and so on Yep Richie started it and Pazzi and Ralph Mouth took it from there and it just kept spreading like wildfire. You got anything else? Yes, I found a 2012 survey by the Museum of London and It set off a bunch of articles about how Cockney Ryman slang is dying But if you read the article it says that 40% of respondents believe it was dying Which means 60% don't believe it's dying. Yeah Yeah, and then they go on to talk about how there's all these, you know new words that are being replaced and added So I don't think it's going anywhere. I think it's usage has become more ironic and everything, but it's still like most most Britons still understand Porky pies means lies. Yeah, like don't tell me any porkies. Give it to me straight. Well, I think it was good We were able to sit here and have a good rabbit and pork. Sure or torque Apparently rabbit and pork is talk But oh that was one other thing the studying this there's reasons people study this it gives you a window into the past For example like pronunciations. Yes, so farthing used to be a Camden Well far things like a quarter penny that they don't use anymore But it used to be called a Camden after Camden Gardens Which tells linguists if they would get off their dust and study this thing That they used to pronounce farthings as fardens Oh Interesting or at least it's something that rhymed closely to gardens But that's why people study this allegedly amazing Well, if you want to know more about cockney rhyming slang get yourself a great cockney rhyming dictionary and go to England and just start Talking up a storm. They love that stuff. They'd love it. They can't get enough. They'll treat you like one of their own That's right. And since we said that it's time for listener me Oh Satanic panic we just re-released that as a Saturday select. I think that was Was that one of your picks or one of mine? I'm not sure but it was it was a good pick for October one of our favorite episodes Yeah, I think of all time and we got a lot of people emailing again about it after listening to it for the first time Hey guys, listen to satanic panic and realize had a story about that. I grew up in a suburb of California By the teenage years I'd become what you might call goth We're black spike jewelry dark makeup and all that stuff My town had a 10 p.m curfew on one night when I was 14 my friends and I were walking home after curfew got pulled over by the cops they Questioned and searched us then called the parents except for mine Not sure why but the officer insisted on driving me home once there. He also demanded to come inside my home I was too scared to argue. So I let him in he went to my bedroom. This is getting creepy Yeah, I was really worried about where this was headed. He went to my bedroom Which is full of posters of Marilyn Manson and the crow and stuff like that and he started going through my things What he told me he was concerned because Satanists are out there and that if I wasn't careful, I'd find myself sacrificed He told me there were rituals and barns that require virgins and I should rethink my lifestyle before I got raped or hurt I thanked him for his concern and I quietly said everything nice That I could to get him out of my house before he woke up my father Situation this happened in 2000 after hearing your episode today It's hard to believe that the residue of the satanic panic would still be around then especially in the police force Just to be clear the suburb. I lived in had very little crime. So the officer was very surprising indeed My boys and I love your show. I recommend it to everyone. Nice. That is from Lisa G does Really something Lisa, I know kind of disturbing. Yeah, like I don't I don't know if that cop was a good guy It started to go down a pretty creepy road there. It really did. Yeah, maybe he was just looking for some pot or something Coming up with a cover story. Yeah, I gotta get in your room and go through your You got any weed? Yeah, really who I was relieved to know that it just ended in the cop leaving. Yeah Agreed he went above and beyond and not in yeah a good way, right? Well, thanks a lot Lisa and glad that you made it through that and that you and your boys are listening to stuff You should know could you get any cooler? September 20th on dawn of week 3 in the NFL we've got the Niners and the Giants tomorrow I am alongside fellow Sports Illustrated NFL staff writer Gilberto Manzano go how you doing I'm doing well I'm still kind of recovering from those two clunky Monday night football games I don't know whose idea was it to get the Panthers and the Saints together but here we are they're gonna tell you I was chatting with our editor John plume throughout that game which I was assigned to you had Browns and Steelers and I told John that that's I was gonna have to pay me double if I ever have to cover another game like this that game was abominable while we don't have it on our run that we could talk about those games quickly first of all super unfortunate injury with Nick Chubb right on Monday night I mean that is a crushing blow both for course he unfortunately and for the Browns the Panthers Saints game that is one of the few games in my lifetime that I genuinely say this about I had a hard time staying awake for the game it was hey let's throw the ball for two yards let's run the ball for a yard let's run the ball again on third and seven for two more yards and punt the ball I mean some of it was good defense like New Orleans offices very good defense but some of it was just awful offense I mean just pitiful offense and you know I wrote the column after the game if this is how they're gonna treat Bryce young what are we even doing what is the point of this you might as well fire yourselves now right I mean you you gave Chicago two first round picks two second round picks DJ Moore so you could move up and you could take a franchise quarterback and Bryce young who at Alabama I believe that 87 touchdown passes and 12 picks in the last two years of his time there at the Crimson Tide they treat him like he has no arm they treat him like he can only throw the ball four yards in the air it's crazy and so you're stuck with this team right now that is unwatchable and that is Owen tip well Matt I needed that that rant from you because I was a you know a little sleepy from those Monday night games and I am three hours behind on the west coast but I needed that and I write your story it was it was a good take because it does feel like they're putting the training wheels on Bryce young and you're right there you went up to get this guy let him let him do his thing and yeah sometimes growing pains will occur mistakes will happen but you trade it up live with the result and see what happens but yeah I was pretty bored and I and I felt pretty lucky Matt when you got assigned Panthers and the Saints and then I started watching the Steelers and the Browns and that that final minute from we went to the second quarter and then went back to the first quarter there was two fumbles I was losing my mind because I don't know what was going on there during that that chaotic scene yeah yeah it was it was bad it was bad football it's the point about price young I mean he's obviously played two games in two games users combined numbers 299 yards 4.2 yards in attempt 4.2 that is impossible to do and yet it's been done he has two touchdowns two picks and he's been sacked six times which is not helping look I was talking to quarterback yesterday office using these a former former quarterback super bowling quarterback and we were having a very candid discussion just about a lot of different things again felt one of the things that came up was the way quarterbacks are handled now and his opinion basically was look what are you so worried about he's gonna throw an interception all right so fine then he throws an exception and you live with it and I agree completely with his take like you're the Panthers be realistic right you're in a first year of a new regime of Frank Wright and Bryce young you're not winning the Super Bowl if that kid throws three picks next week who cares let him do it let him learn from it all you're doing is conditioning him to just go underneath go underneath go underneath at some point you know what if he throws 25 picks this year so Peyton Manning through 26 is a rookie it doesn't matter let him fight it's you know we're gonna talk about a lot of different things in the podcast we get through in a minute but it's kind of like right now it's Justin Fields other the Bears are trying to get him to change everything about his game you drafted him because of who he is let him run with the ball let him let him play off script a little by understand you got to have those those five-step drops he hits his back foot he throws cool we all understand that but like this idea now that we know we're gonna turn him into Tom Brady in the pocket no you're not because it's not the way he plays right and so I think it's a lot of these coaches force guys into a box sort of play so you drafted him in the first round yeah three yards for Justin Fields are running against the Buccaneers is not ideal another like it's a good defense but man at least do make some plays and let him play backyard football once in a while cuz uh yeah like it it's tough seeing some of these quarterbacks in the weather being handled and you see two over there with the with the Dolphins you don't get it like McDaniel schemes and and and waddle and Tyreek Hill and and even even like a comparison CJ Stroud is a rookie who's going through the growing pains but he's making plays with Nikko Collins and making plays with tank Dale like it's rough they're getting they're getting their butt whoop early on but he's learning and growing and and right now I know it's way too early to say who was a better quarterback for you know looking down the line but Anthony Richardson and CJ Stroud are playing much better because they're going through the growing pains they are and they're all on bad teams it's not like one of these guys you know somebody traded up from 28 they're on a Super Bowl contender right so I agree with it completely go blur I think it's it's a bad job by the coaching staff in Carolina right now it's a bad job like let this kid go out and throw the ball if you make some mistakes you make some mistakes fine I mean on Monday night my god they might as well just taking a knee for 60 minutes they didn't threaten anybody it was insane all right let's get away from those games because those games deserve to die at the quiet yet nobody needs to talk about those games ever again but the Panthers are one of the teams that fit into our first topic so I wrote a piece where I listed out the nine teams that are on two and kind of ranked them based on like how how the future might shine on them or or rain on them depending upon whether you believe they have a team that can turn around or if their team is just dead in the water so if people have read the story then they know where I'm gonna go with this but I'll see the floor to you of the nine oh and two teams in the league which is the team that you look at and say I have the most faith in that team yeah I had to write it down because I don't even believe myself Matt you had them number two in your story but I did Minnesota Vikings and when I saw number two for the Vikings I questioned I'm like why Matt why are we doing this and then the more thing about it the more it feels right like no people got on me for the common row on Thursday night football giving credit to Brian Flores that was a good defense for the first half and then you know that the offense kept turning the ball over and they kept getting short fields and after a while it's okay well you know what we'll take the top off we'll put a roof on the coverage and just keep running the football what can we do the office is doing nothing for us so if they figure out not you know how to not to cough the ball up and you got a good offense there you don't have to play comeback football all the time I like the Vikings being eventually a complete football team it's a long way to go but you saw it a year ago Matt that defense was horrendous and they're actually promising now so I do like that but you know with the with the Bengals I just don't feel confident something feels off here and I know we're waiting here for Joe burrow news but if he's not ready and he's still lingering with the calf injury what if he hurts it again like he needs time off to get fully healed so I'm just not confident that if it and if burrows aren't ready and you fall down oh and three you don't even tell you the stats there everybody knows that you're probably gonna make the playoffs there so and then you know going up the the the list that you had I think the charges were number three but I'm done waiting for Brandon Taylor to figure it out you you are way ahead of me I am so late to the party but after what I saw a week ago Ryan Tannehill had four incompletions it's on the ball down so I'm I really enjoyed covering Brandon Taylor for a year and a half as a beat reporter but after a while no more excuses you got to figure it out and they're not getting it done yeah when you can't when you can't I mean not only the only to perform for completions he average over 10 yards an attempt it wasn't like he was just dinking the ball I mean they were going down the field yeah listen I so as you point out like I had the Vikings to on my list I had the Bengals number one but it certainly comes with a big asterisk here if if burrows not right the bro can't play on Monday night against the Rams you can't play down the road like they're done I know it's just this is the one thing in our business Gil that drives me crazy it's when people feel like they almost have to couch takes because if they don't want to say anything that's too definitive like that that's that's stupid okay like let's be real about this if Jake Browning's got to play they're done let's not even like waste time and like well how could the Bengals they're not gonna survive if if Jake Browning's got to play the Rams then go to Tennessee they're 0-4 okay let's just call it what it is because I love the Bengals coaching and I love their talent on the outside I was at training camp when Jake Browning was the number one with Trevor Simeon that day and let me tell you every single media member sat there to a man said if he's got to play it's over nothing in shape Browning might be a fine individual he's not an NFL quarterback anyone near the level of Joe burrow so like if you're gonna bring him in they have to play a totally different way they're not built to play a totally different way they can't go to a power run game they're not gonna go to a game where they're gonna win the game 10-7 that's not who they are so it's I do think if burrows there and he can get healthy I think there's still the team that I look at oh and two and sorry they'll figure it out they were own to last year they figured it out if he's not there then I'm with you on Minnesota for a couple of reasons one is I actually do believe in the offense I think the offense is gonna score the points and the other side of it it's the NFC you know oh and two is not as scary in the NFC as it is in the AFC where if you're the Chargers I get the Bengals are on two and and that the Chiefs are one in one and you know the Jags are one on one but you know those teams at some point you know the bills are one and they're gonna take off they're gonna win six seven games in a row and they're just gonna be gone the Vikings have the luxury of is that gonna happen in the NFC like is anybody in the north gonna win seven games in a row at any point in time this season so I think if you're Minnesota you have the luxury of the luxury of time although of course Chargers and the Vikings get together this weekend yeah and that might be a game that either is the most exciting game of the year or such a sport back 50 years we're gonna find out yeah no I'm which there's a wounded animal you know backs against the wall game and yep no whoever loses my you know they won't be in the playoffs it seems like it but again like you mentioned the NFC is not as daunting as the AFC so maybe the Vikings can afford to lose one and get back into it but by then you know you're playing a lot of catch-up football maybe you get a seven seed it's it's a it's a bad look to be on three and we'll see what they do but after that man I got those top three of the own two teams I do not feel confident about anybody you know the Broncos and champagne have a lot of work Justin Fields I had a lot of we started with Justin Fields earlier I had a lot of hope for the Bears being better that defense does not improve they went backwards as a passer for Justin Fields there you mentioned the Panthers you know who else am I missing here the Texans a lot of teams are rebuilding the Cardinals are I've been feisty they've been competitive you know jumping out their leads and then mysteriously losing the leads I don't know what's going on there but other than that I don't feel confident about these other teams on the list I know I think the one team I put on the outline because I just think they're interesting is Denver right I mean but I don't know how you go anywhere with Denver Denver just lost two home games to the Raiders and the commanders I they were 21 to 3 against Washington and my Twitter timeline or my ex timeline was awash with is rush back is rush back and then an hour later it was all these people being like don't never mind never mind he's not he's not back and then they hit a Hail Mary he's still lost I mean it's just unbelievable so now they go to Miami I'm sorry they're not beating Miami so they're gonna be 0-3 I think they're done the question I have with Denver now is like does this thing get really really interesting in terms of Russell Wilson gonna play the whole year is Sean Payton gonna say you know what I'm done with this I'm playing Jared Stidham I don't think Stidham is really an upgrade but do they just try to inject new life because their schedule coming up is not easy they have the Dolphins they play the Chiefs twice in the next month or so they come out they have a bye after that last Chiefs game they come out they play Buffalo on the road a lot of tough games a lot of tough games for a Denver team they're quite honestly he's not playing great defensively and then offensively Russell Wilson hit on a couple of deep balls are now he was atrocious and he stunk week one so yeah I think it's uh I think it's already it's getting it's getting late early in Denver I just don't think they've got the horses to really fight their way out of this yeah you know at least they have like a piece there with I've been liking when Marvin Mims a rookie why was here has been doing he had a couple long catches in that game and and who knows maybe that how Mary gives them kind of a momentum for the rest of the season but you mentioned they had two games at home and you don't take care of it and then you're crying about the pass interference at the end well you know if you've never you've never blew the lead and then you never got the hell Mary wouldn't be in a situation like that so at some point you know okay we really kind of dug ourselves a hole here that we couldn't get all the breaks here so we'll just take a Hail Mary and use it as momentum so it's probably the only thing I see for the Broncos but you're right maybe at some point you got to figure out you know go go with Stidham and then you got a the only problem here man is like if you want I'm going for Russell Wilson you need him to play decent to kind of develop a trade market if he's not he's gonna be on your bench next year making 40 million dollars and that's not gonna be good for anybody I don't know Russell Wilson I don't know what you do I don't know if you bench him and just deal with the fact that he's gonna make a fortune on your bench I don't know if you just cut him and eat an ungodly amount of dead money I don't know if you can like I it's crazy it is just a reminder his extension that he signed when he got to Denver that starts next year that hasn't even begun yet he's still in his contract from Seattle so congratulations to Denver for that contract that's worked out well introducing the new Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones and QuietComfort Ultra earbuds with brought to you by the Hyundai Tucson it's your journey all right let's stay in the AC West for a second I want to ask you what is the bigger story in Kansas City right now she's offense and the defense because the offense it was not pretty against Jacksonville the Chiefs had three turnovers to two of which on offense one was on special teams they took 12 penalties as a team overall they did somehow manage 399 yards of offense Mahomes actually threw for 300 yards in the game but it was very disjointed very clunky Juwan Taylor who came over from Jacksonville had five penalties to the point that they briefly bench and now the funny thing is you'll watch the tape of the game and I did for my all 22 piece he actually played well when he wasn't being flagged the problem is you just flagged five times so you can't really say he had a good game but it's been disjointed offensively the first two weeks obviously we know calcium this week one it was kind of in and out week two the flip side is defensively they've been excellent they the field goals came on the muff punt that was in their own red zone where they held Jacksonville they've been one of the best teams in the league on third down in the red zone the first two weeks so what is the bigger story here with Casey is it the fact that the defense has been great or that the offense has been mediocre yeah you know before I answer that I don't know why I picture a funny scenario of the Jaguars saying that guy over there we know him really well Juwan Taylor you better watch him he falls stars every single time it was okay for us the last few years but this time you better watch him so yeah I can just picture that happening before the game but you know what you know I'll go with the offense because I thought the Chiefs defense has been pretty good over the years it maybe they're you know they don't get enough credit because they're playing with Patrick Mahone's but they're always very solid and maybe it's a little too soon to say this might be their best even because they've been playing lights out the last two games but I've been liking what they what they've done in this run here so they don't get enough love so I'm glad they're getting finding some attention and you know for Chris Jones I wonder can you go back to the negotiating table because when he wasn't playing with the Lions they were struggling when he played against the Jaguars he was a dominant force once again so it did not work out for Chris Jones and his contract holdup but hopefully he has some some leverage there for next year but we'll find out about that and yeah it's often is you know you know it's not in sync right now but it's kind of this thing that you know when you win so much and I know you can't do this in the NFL it's kind of the NBA where you wait out a couple of months and okay Christmas is over we'll start playing we'll figure it out and we'll dominate again and it's kind of what the pages were doing with Tom Brady for so many years that it could be just that you know Super Bowl hangover they'll figure it out there one-on-one it's not a big problem but I am a little concerned because they need more help at wide receiver and what happened Isaiah Pacheco I really like watching this guy a year ago is it because they're not using them enough you watch you've been watching them more than I do so I got to see more from the offense but shout out to the defense they keep doing their thing and they feel like they might be a problem was in week two they carried they ran the ball twice in the first half and then the second half he ripped off a 31 yarder on the first play of the half and then they barely ran the ball into the last game I mean it's Andy Reid Andy Reid is not a big fan of turn around hand it off I'm with you they should use them a lot more although right now by the way as we're doing this practice reports are coming out Isaiah Pacheco is not practicing for the Chiefs on Wednesday he has a sore hamstring Richard James has a knee injury that might keep him out a while and Glarius Toney has a sprained toe so all of a sudden she's maybe forced to change the offense a little bit that being said I would say right now the bigger story is the defense with this team I feel like if the Warriors miss a bunch of three-pointers for a week and people are like what's going on there you know at some point they're gonna hit like 33 pointers in a game they just are that's who they are if the Chiefs offense is their biggest problem they don't have a problem at some juncture that team's gonna have a stretch they score 40 a game it for like a month and it's not gonna matter I think the bigger story is defensively they typically would spagnolo as the coordinator they've started out slow it's a very complex defense and then they ramp up like last year they had eight rookies making significant contributions on that team and you're talking about guys like Carl of this and McDuffie me first-round picks Brian Cook second round pick Leo Chanel third round pick him that was a team that defensively there were a lot of new pieces a lot of new faces and it took them a while and then they got better this year they've come out of the gate they played very very well they've only given up 23 points on defense to two of the better offenses in the NFL and the Lions and the Jags if they play defense at a top 5 to 8 level they're gonna be very hard to beat because that offense at some point will get rolling and when it does if they're sitting there giving up 17 points a game good night they've been very impressive to this point and I think you know like now they have a stretcher where they play their next six games are against teams that are combined 1 and 11 so I mean they play the Bears this weekend at Arrowhead they're a 12 and a half point favorite in that game then they play the Jets and then it's Vikings Broncos Chargers Broncos so we'll see but the Chiefs might have an opportunity to get fat here and kind of get themselves on track offensively yeah after you mentioned those records I think they'll be fine either way you could throw in special teams as well all three phases of football of Kansas City will be fine there and and man I don't know if it's okay but I want to take a few maybe a moment to talk about the Jaguars like I expected much better from the Jaguars offense yeah the Chiefs defense is pretty good they had Chris Jones back but you're at home you have Trevor Lawrence on your side you have Christian Kirk you have Calvin Ridley you have you know Travis Etienne yeah you don't have Juwan Taylor anymore for a false start so I don't know what happened to this offense I kept finding myself watching more of the Colts Texans because I wanted to see Anthony Richardson you know fortunately went out with the concussion there or to be evaluated for concussion but I went back to the game I'm like man they can't get anything going offensively and it made me feel like okay it is two games but I'm ready to start doing some tears here like you got the Chiefs you got the bills you got the Ravens and I'm forgetting somebody else other dolphins there you go and then the Jaguars are tier below so I wanted to make them one of these top tier teams in the AFC but after watching that like are they not like a team that we should take seriously you're gonna division on team and then good night see ya thank you for coming and playing the postseason so I was a little disappointed with the Jaguars Oh Dave they've played the Chiefs three times since late November and their own three in the games and their offense has been hideous on all three of the games they just can't score I don't know it's just a matchup thing and it's magnolias has Lawrence's number Peterson's number look I think Jackson was gonna be fine they're gonna be a really good team this year but it's uh there was a humbling game if you're Jackson ball offensively I mean you scored nine points and three of them were gifted to you because Richard James fumbled the ball is on 15 yard line so it's not great when when you know I think Trevor Lawrence's cube you are thinking was like 15 I mean and I gotta tell you I watch it it was deserved but you mentioned Chris Jones he comes in off off basing off the beach and has a sack and a half couple you know a couple quarterback hits a tackle for loss a pass knocked down on a third down ended right he was everywhere he not just always the player it's the effect on the rest of the team right so he comes back and he's getting doubled and he's getting all this attention now George Karloff to says a hat I said a sack and a half I can say that all of a sudden Karloff dish explodes in that game and becomes a real force and it's like yeah look Karloff this is excellent on his own but Karloff this is so much better when Chris Jones is there right because now everybody's your if you're the quarterback if you're the offensive line you're going where's 95 where's 95 all of a sudden okay well now you're not you know worrying as much about you know the George Karloff decision Charles Mendo when he gets back from suspension so certainly the impact was there was notable and the Chiefs are now one-on-one and they have the Bears and the Jets the next two weeks and so that defense might even get better as we go forward all right let's get into the games this week top five games shockingly the Chiefs and the Bears not gonna be one of the top five games we talked about let's start off we mentioned them at the top the Chargers are at the Vikings it's a pick them which I think is fitting for this game all the lines courtesy of Sports Illustrated sportsbook si sportsbook calm Chargers at the Vikings desperation bowl both teams sitting at oh and two games at US Bank Field in Minnesota who do you like in this game and why yeah it was a very tough game to pick and it is a pick them for that reason because these are two wounded animals and he need a win with good offenses and Matt I've chosen to charge the last two weeks I don't care if I lose this one but I'm not getting burned three weeks in a row by the Chargers I am done believing in this team so I'll go with the Vikings just for that because I don't want to get burned there it is a dumbest analysis from my point but who cares at this point and and you're right you said it a week ago man like you got to stop showing faith in Brandon Staley they can't figure it out and after you know two plus seasons was trying to get this defense to figure it out you might be getting worse like these downfield shots that these teams are taking on you one week it is it's two entire weeks that's okay when it's Tannehill and Trellon Burks like you got some problems that is not good at all so now you have Justin Jefferson Jordan has been averaging one deep bomb touchdown per game so it might it's gonna happen maybe three times against the Chargers defense so you know I'll say this here I know people are really frustrated you know in LA for in terms of Chargers fans you know they're always trying to come at me and try to get my takes because uh you know I covered that team for a few years and you know I'll say this about Brandon Staley and his job security it's it's a hot seat probably but knowing this team they I don't think they're gonna fire a coach mid-season with such a talented roster as well like you think about the options there Kellen Moore is trying to figure out the offense because he's new to the the team he's new to Justin Herbert and then you're gonna ask him to run the whole team there you can't ask the special teams coach Ryan Fakin he's worrying about his own side there and I don't even know if he wants to be a head coach in this league I'm sure we won day but to ask them and doing an interim basis it's just not ideal for everybody all around slow down a lot of football left and if the Chargers win in their one and two then maybe we don't talk about Brandon Staley getting fired but I understand people are really frustrated they're upset but it is two games here and you do want to see more from the defense but I just don't see any benefit to it but in this game they're all in three those those conversations those those talks on the national spotlight for the talking media heads they're gonna really really stir up this headline and we'll see what happens yeah look I'm with you on Minnesota in this game as I mentioned earlier for a variety of reasons but the biggest one is I look at Jefferson Addison and Hawkinson I honest-to-god I think Hudson's gonna throw a foreign yards in this game I the one thing the Vikings have are good offensive tackles their guard play in their center plays atrocious but but their edge blocking is good but where do the charges get all the pressure from they get it from the edges like I that's where the problem becomes I don't know do you do you loop those guys in the blitz I mean maybe maybe Sebastian Austin Day is a big game I don't know he had a couple of quarterback hits today but the Chargers defense is just hideous I can't pick that defensive and look the other part of this is with the Chargers and I don't care I'm to the point like I know Twitter that you get roasted fish I tweeted us out there they Herbert is also to some degree responsible for some of this stuff like Stanley's terrible as a head coach I am he he has not done the job okay and he's number one in my opinion as far as the reasons why this team is struggling but let's also be clear about something I went back and looked at the Titans game there were four drives at the end of that game for the Chargers they could have won the game okay they're up 21 17 they get the ball in the fourth quarter they go three and out punt the ball they get the ball back same score 21 17 they're winning they can put the game away they get one first down then they go three and out they punt the ball then they get the ball back down 24 21 now to Herbert's credit he does drive the Chargers into field goal range they have a first and ten at the 14 with over a minute to go they can't punch it in they gotta kick field goal then they win the toss in overtime three straight incompletions the third down play it didn't even look like they knew what they were doing Herbert just throws it down downfield to nobody they punt they lose the game on a field goal with Tennessee's next drive he went 9 of 16 for 82 yards on those drives and they and they scored three points I mean it's some juncture if you're a great quarterback drive your team down the field and score do something we saw it in the Jacksonville playoff game I'm not saying that's on Herbert more that's on their defense or on Staley that would be untrue couldn't you score once can you bury him can you put him away like this stuff happens even in that Raiders a crazy Raiders Chargers week 18 game were you at that game yeah I was there that was there you go all right like so you I'm watching from home going they have the bowl all they're gonna do score touchdown overtime the Raiders have no defense nope can't do it gotta kick a field goal like it's at some juncture I'm sorry the Mahomes is of the world the Allens of the world the Hertz is of the world they score the games over like you need to score and I feel like in this game that's what's gonna happen we're gonna have a back and forth back forth back forth then the Chargers are gonna run an end around with a guard on third and six and get thrown for like a 20-yard loss and we're all gonna sit here and go you know I don't know what else Herbert could have done but they're 0-3 yeah well at some point it's not everybody involved and it's ugly I will take Minnesota to win I'm with you they're at home I trust them more not a lot but more they trust the Chargers all right back in the AFC East interesting game the 0-2 Patriots also obviously desperate here there are two and a half point favorite on the road in the Meadowlands playing against Zach Wilson's Jets of course Wilson and the Jets lost 30 to 10 to Dallas last week Wilson was awful he threw three interceptions he had one big play to Garrett Wilson heard that he couldn't do anything New England comes in a very good defensive team a limited offensive team who do you like in this game yeah you know I'll say is real quick you know you know Zach Wilson's not gonna be the answer for you at quarterback for the Jets oh he is not I'm not saying go check out my story and get those QB options going and start calling those teams like a Jamis Winston or even a Gardner Minshew I don't know if the coach will be willing to give up their quality back up there but I feel like that that that defense gonna be wasted Garrett wasn't gonna be wasted Bree so I was gonna be wasted you know I hate to knock Zach Wilson but at some point you got to tell yourself he's not gonna be your guy at least not right now you can be positive all you want and Aaron Rodgers gonna keep pushing and saying hey he's gonna be your guy but not right now so that is why they're underdogs at home to the Patriots who have their own problems there they're 0-2 I do like the Patriots just for that reason because you know they have at least a decent reliable quarterback in Mac Jones he's been okay you know you want to see more from him you know they had that you know sort of late rally there and gave the ball to Kiseki and they threw it back to the cold strange which was a stranger to play right there no pun intended but I like the Patriots and the problems they showed you know they have had slow starts with the Eagles the Dolphins they come back the defense you know has been holding it down but they're missing some kind of element there to to to become this team okay they could score points okay they could actually win some of these games but that's not who they are they're more like okay we'll keep it close we'll push you and then eventually you fade away they just don't have an offense to fade away so that's why I'm taking the pages just for that reason yeah look I agree I like the Pats I I don't trust Zach Wilson at all against New England's defense and we saw this last year let's we forget that was the game that after the Jets lost and Zach Wilson was absolutely horrific in it he went up after the game was like yeah you know you know I don't think this is all on me essentially as a paraphrase and he got benched right after that so just to revisit history I'm sorry for Jets fans you really don't want to do this he has played as a starter in New England he did it in 2021 and he did it as well last year and here are the numbers from those games first game as a rookie six of ten for 51 yards and yes he started that game they lost 54 to 13 now last year against New England on the road they lost 10 to 3 he was sacked four times he went nine of 22 for 77 yards in that game he also started at home if you're wondering if it was any better they lost 22 to 17 to New England he was 20 of 41 he did throw for 355 yards that's that's awesome in fact I believe I'm just gonna look quickly yeah that's a career high by a mile he also threw two touchdowns with three picks and they still lost the game so I'm not a huge believer here in Zach Wilson against Belichick for obvious reasons I I think New England finds a way to win you know the Pats have played the Dolphins and the Eagles tough those are two very good football teams I don't think the Jets are a very good football team without Aaron Rodgers so I think it's ugly I think it's a little scoring but I think the only one does find the way to win the game introducing the to get back to it back to all your people and the things you love to do it's a new season and you start every morning ready to take it all on hitting high gear a little earlier because there's more of everything to wake up for it's back to school back to business back to the feelings that anything is possible watch the today show every morning on NBC because every day needs today I'm Jonathan Strickland host of the podcast tech stuff I sat down with Sunan Shahani of surf air mobility which recently went public we talked about flying and electric planes and regional air mobility the future of travel doesn't have to include crowded airports cramped seats or long road trips it can be as simple as using an app to book a short-range flight on an electric plane learn more on tech stuff on the I heart radio app Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcast the short of a six-pack the bills huge bounce back against the Raiders I got that seven nothing earlier than they absolutely obliterated the Raiders in Orchard Park they get the one-on-one on the year and they're going to play the undefeated Washington commanders who of course beat Arizona in an ugly game in week one and then came back from a 21-3 deficit to beat Denver in week two at Mile High this game at FedEx Field in Maryland it is a six and a half point line in favor of Buffalo's Buffalo laying then their full seven point do you like the bills to win to cover do you like the commanders delusion to cover do you like the commanders to pull off the upset outright yeah I like the way you phrase it cuz I was just thinking I'm probably will make a bet on the commanders to cover because that's a big spread there for the home team and they're there to know and I get the commanders were behind to the Cardinals and the Broncos and that's not a good look but at least you know I you know like you were mentioned with Bryce young like Sam how has been shaky but he's been coming back and fighting that's what you want to see from by price young so I think that the winning comeback or having comeback victories goes a long way like I'm not saying Sam house give me the long-term answer but he's getting it done right now he's coming back and winning so sometimes that's enough so I'm not saying the commands are gonna win but I do like the points here and who would have thought I'm actually excited for this game you would ask me this a month ago yeah week three bills of commanders are gonna be so excited for that game but here we are here we are with this one because the bills came back pretty strong and with the rate with the Raider game you see Devante Adam touchdown like oh maybe the bills are in trouble and then boom 38 points and yeah let's forget about the bills being done here so I do like the bills to win this game it's gonna be a close one I am very impressed with the commanders defense I'm not surprised about that at all I think they sacked Russell Wilson seven times a week ago so that ferocious defense of line with Jonathan Allen Darion Payne and and and Monte sweat have been doing the right things there and credit to Ron Rivera like I know it's not the best option to start Sam Howell but he made it his his move to keep his job and have another season and it's been paying off so far so that story that he had with Albert Breer saying like yeah I had no clue this guy was good into week 18 so let's go with that guy so it was a small sample size he bet on Sam Howe and so far has been paying off but again it's gonna be a real measuring stick game here for Sam Howell against the bills defense I want to see more he could do a rally against bad teams but what can do with the bills and I'm very intrigued for many reasons for this game but give me the bills to win it outright yeah I'll take the bills to win and to cover slightly I think it's about a seven to ten point game but I will say this the one thing that's interesting in this game is Washington is tied for the league lead in sacks with Dallas the bills have given up seven sacks on the year which is one of the higher totals in the NFL that is the one way Washington wins this game right I mean they get a lot of pressure they get some some big negative plays maybe they get a few turnovers out of plays like that that's how you flip this game I don't know that Howell is gonna go out there and dominate the bills defense at this point the year has been good and granted they've played Zach Wilson and Jimmy Garoppolo but I think Buffalo does win the question for me is just does Allen take care of the ball or is this one of those hero ball games where he's just throwing all over the lot they shouldn't losses that's what they did because Allen had four obscene turnovers I think the bills win I I would take them to cover the bills have a tendency of like they blow teams out and then they lose games they should never lose I feel like this game is a game with their head comfortably Washington comes back and maybe either just covers the spread or just misses I'll say they just miss but it is an interesting game if Washington wins this game it becomes a much bigger story then all of a sudden you're going all right Washington all right three and all right I mean yeah maybe for real all right fourth game that we wanted to cover we're gonna cover both of the Monday night games same spread six and a half points the Eagles a road favorite at Tampa Bay both teams 2-0 of course the Eagles beating the Pats on a late Sunday game in week one then on Thursday night they go ahead and they take care of Minnesota in the game that got close late but really they handled Tampa Bay a couple of wins over Minnesota Chicago pair of own two teams but a nice win against Minnesota and they handled the Bears they are at home in this game Monday Night Football Eagles with a big rest advantage because they did not play on Sunday but rather on Thursday as I mentioned so do you like Philly you like Tampa already fall yeah you know kind of similar reasons I had for the cat commanders game you know six and a half points at home both both from the feeder for the Buccaneers here so also Buccaneers a good defense as well I know people when Tom Brady left wrote off the book the Buccaneers but overall they have a good roster so I like the Buccaneers to cover at home but give me the Eagles to kind of get another close game and be three you know and maybe don't expect another AJ Brown Jalen Hurts fight on the sideline that was a little strange there but that tells you that the Eagles have some issues going on with their passing game they can't really figure it out they have new coaching a new OC there and it's taking a while and people are frustrated I don't know how if I'm gonna you know do some some rumor stuff here but maybe AJ Brown's getting frustrated the Vontae Smith's getting all the passes because the Vontae Smith's off to a fast start so I don't know what's going on there there's something off there so if you're if your passing game is on point because the Buccaneers maybe you could struggle for a bit and then you just kind of what you did with the Vikings game you still give the ball to DeAndre Swift run the football and you'll be okay but this Buccaneers defense is much better than them the Vikings defense so it could be a lot of trouble here and credit to Baker Mayfield on the Tampa Bay side getting the ball to Mike Evans his best play his best playmaker there so overall I'm a little surprised with 2-0 I'm a little surprised that Baker Mayfield hasn't thrown an interception yet but with Baker he tends to have some really highs and some really bad lows so we'll see if it happens in this Eagles game but I think the Buccaneers will show a lot of fight and the Eagles will prevail once they figure them out yeah I like Philadelphia to win this game and I think look I think Tampa covers because Tampa defense was pretty good and the Eagles are kind of fighting themselves a little bit in the passing game here with Brian Johnson the new OC and that's expected when you change coordinators and maybe there's even a little bit of a Super Bowl hangover you know from from getting there and a lot of teams after they lose a Super Bowl they struggle the next year the Eagles is not struggling necessarily with 2-0 I will say this one thing that surprised me I do a column every Friday if people want to check it out that I basically list off like one stat every everybody should know about for each game and like kind of one matchup I should say the Eagles have given up more yards after catching anybody in the NFL this year and that's a game like if you're Baker hey man get the ball to your hands to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and let him eat like let him go make a play for you I that's the one reason I think Tampa can keep this game close is Philadelphia secondary has not been very good so far this year they played Mac Jones they've played a Vikings team that the Vikings can throw the ball the Pats not so much I think the Eagles will win the game I think it's something like you know 27 to 23 or something you know somewhere in that range 27 21 but yeah I think Philadelphia finds a way to win and then lastly here we have the Rams at Cincinnati now that was a six and a half point spread for the Bengals it is not one and a half you know this better than I do having been out there Vegas knows things like that Vegas doesn't like the line doesn't shift five points for nothing okay they're acutely aware that something is afoot and obviously in this case me something is a calf if you'll if you'll forgive an awful awful partner um first of all you think boroughs gonna play and and and then do you like the Rams you like the Bengals this game yeah I just started checking my phone for hopefully some kind of update from Zach Taylor on before I make my pick here but nothing so far and Joe burrow it's not looking good when you kind of you tweak that calf again after you had a hurt in training camp you rushed it back probably because you want to play in the season opener and then you're not you're not the same quarterback the first two games it's something off here and that and that's probably why the line change here so you know it sucks making a pick right now on a Wednesday because I'm being ass all over the place to make one but I don't care if burrow plays or not because you might be hobbled I'm going with the Rams I like that I like the way the Rams have been fighting they had the big upset win in Seattle they push the 49ers I was at that game and so if I stayed on for about two quarters and a half then that won't get away there because that they allow Brock pretty good a touchdown before halftime it changed momentum but this team is feisty and I guess I'll spend the rest of my time talking about Pukka Nakula man Pukka Nakula is a bonafide star great I watched I watched some in training camp and I told myself that's gonna be a number three wide receiver on this Rams team he might be one beat to Cooper Cup he's that good already so I was wrong there this guy's being asked to to run jet sweeps very precise routes doing blocking like it like a tight end he's just a John McVay's favorite play right now and Matthew staffers how do you get 20 targets in one game 15 targets the other game as a rookie and your in your quarterback is Matthew staffer who expects a lot from your wide receiver so he is doing a whole lot right there and I know I'm getting I'm overreacting here but I'm working I wrote one of my stories this guy might be one of the higher-end to dump two wide receivers in the league he might be up there it's soon enough to the T Higgins and the in the brand that use of the world but he's really good I'll slow it down but I like watching him he's been great he's been great there's no question I hadn't in my rookie stock watch you can't be enough of a riser look I'm just gonna caveat it if Burrow plays I think the Bengals will find the way to win the game and cup one now if Burrow doesn't play it they're not winning this game they're not gonna beat the right I gotta be fair the Rams are the biggest prize in the league for me right now I do not think the Rams be any good they're not great but they're good like they're playing well there they beat Seattle they were they were tough with chances are playing like a playoff team they're playing like a team that you make the playoffs the Bengals are not the Bengals have been awful against the run burrows been bad in these games their offensive lines done him no favors like if Burrow plays I'll say that just out of sheer panic and desperation they will find the way to win he doesn't play man I'm thinking the Rams all day in this game I'm not thinking Jake Browning to beat the Rams you kidding me with Aaron Donald in it good luck with that have fun so I'm just gonna kind of hedge it which is which is you know really what you know it's what I do you'd be smart about it cover yourself all angles all right I know we're coming up on about 45 minutes typically wrap so what's going on in your life over there go yeah I just wanted to give you an update I survived the Halloween horror night I made it through all those lines you know I think I averaged two hours per line it was very frustrating and then you get through it through a maze and it was like the worst thing ever because neither trying to scare you and like I'm not even afraid man I'm not trying to be this tough guy but it was like okay I expected better I waited two hours you better you know scare the crap out of me so that did not occur so yeah I think I got in three mazes you know that the good thing was the rides were pretty open because everybody was going to the mazes there but if you find yourself you're in LA and you want to go to Halloween horror nights avoid all the ones I have like the big names like the the exorcists or stranger things The Last of Us those were terrible the ones that don't have like a big name those are pretty scary so check that out if you want to but again I hate lines Matt I wouldn't recommend it for you you probably just as frustrated as I was but it I made it I'm okay I won't do it again maybe anytime soon or I'll forget and I'll get convinced to go back again next year yeah it's always dangerous stuff like that you forget you know it's kind of like when you have kids and you know I have two daughters and I know you know you have the first one and as much as you love your kids you like it's all the hard parts it's like yeah they go to daycare they gets they get sick for like a month and a half because they're getting all these new germs and then they don't sleep or whatever whatever the case may be whatever every kid is different but whatever the case may be for your kid you do all this stuff and you're like oh I love I love her but never again never again and then a couple years go by you know why at least in my case why we should have another kid come ons and like hey cuz you know at that point the kids too and she's cute you know I got and then like and then your wife is seven months pregnant laying in bed and can't get comfortable why why do we do I'm like you know what I it's cuz it's because you forget about all this stuff and now you're doing it again and so now like we have two and now you know my wife's like what about a third I'm like no no no no I remember the first the first two the processes the second my my youngest daughter gets out of diapers I'm going out to a bar and I'm buying everybody rounds and until they close the place because that's it I'll never look at another diaper the rest of my life so I I I know it's a little bit of a different topic but yeah I get it you know yeah the mind the human mind has a tendency to forget the bad and remember the good the Jetson Zach Wilson they keep going back and that's right oh why that's why we don't like this guy okay oh that's right actually no he's terrible we forgot that he's terrible um yeah no man like for me this week I got my daughter's birthday party on Saturday but the funny part of it is so I've mentioned I'm here before I play pickleball like an old man and I have a pickleball tournament Saturday at 8 a.m. and it's a it's like a 16 team tournament so I've never been the tournament I don't know how long this thing's gonna go my daughter's parties at 4 and so I told my doubles partner my cook man win or lose we better do it fast because if we get to 3 o'clock I'm out the door like there's no I'm not missing her birthday party for a pickleball tournament I will be divorced by the time I get home so here's the hoping that no matter how it plays out it's quick because if we're playing like matches you know games go to 11 we're playing like 11-9 matches the whole time and then everybody's got to take a break because half the people involved in this are like 70 I got a problem I got a problem like we need we need to move at a rapid pace and so I'm hoping that we can get it done matter it reminds me I know you live in the Chicago area so it probably wasn't you but a quick story you know where I live it there's we have some big windows and you can see a parking lot and there was like what it was one day like around midnight and it was a big wall and I just see some dude like hitting the ball back and forth and I think it was a tennis racket maybe could be for pickleball I don't know but is that what you're finding stuff doing just practicing in the middle of the night because you got to watch the kids early in the day you got to write stories for SI but you got to find time to train and it's at midnight and you find a wall or just trying to figure out a way how to play you know on your own with this training that's right I you know what it's funny I I do most of my writing at night I just find that I'm more productive then so like I usually play pickleball in the morning and I'll play from like 9 to 12 and it's it's the the side benefit has been like I think I'm healthier than I've ever been in my life because you you just run for three straight hours and so it's been fun but man yeah I do find myself I'll be sitting there and I'll be writing I'll take a mental break for five minutes you know I wonder if I serve and I rotate my wrist over like can I get more power that way and then I stop I think to myself like you're a dope don't like don't worry about it man just go out and play and hope for the best but listen everybody thank you for listening to the mmqb podcast whether or not it's this episode or other episodes but obviously of course you're hearing this it's this you know Gilberto and I and the "On today's show, while getting people around the table is often a challenge in itself, thought does have to be given to what shape that table should be, what kind of room it should be in and what variety of chairs should be placed adjacent to it. I'm joined now by heinie lehtonen, a creative director and designer based in Helsinki. First of all, I was reading an interview you did recently with the Finnish architect salak sunan. He mentioned the avo part center in Estonia as kind of an ideal venue for this sort of thing. When it comes to spaces that make good venues to talk about peace, why would that one work? First of all, that location or that building is located in a very calming and peaceful environment. It's a way from the hustle and bustle of a city from traffic from the business of whatever there is in the city. And also away from the media, because that also can be disturbing and destructing for peace dialogs. It's not a peace mediation center per se. It's a cultural center. It's located in a forest surrounded by beautiful nature. There is a lot of daylight. The spaces and the building also show respect to the people visiting there. The natural setting or the idea of a peaceful natural setting, I guess, the importance of that is pretty self evident, but to the architecture itself, how much of a difference can that make? I mean, if we think of famous example of Scandinavian diplomacy, the Oslo Accords, and the early meetings were held at beauregard manor near saps Bourg, I suspect that was largely because it was kind of isolated as well and surrounded by peaceful nature, but that's obviously a very grand old school building. Can that kind of setting have an effect? In a sense that it shows respect to all the participants when it comes to high level based dialogs. Usually the environment and the architecture should match the level of the dialogs. As part of that is the design of furniture important. I mean, I guess the obvious one people always think about is the round table, so no one feels like they're necessarily in charge. But can things like that the shape and size of the chairs have an impact? Do you need to be careful, for example, that somebody doesn't have a bigger chair than everybody else? Definitely. Yes. Of course, when it comes to tables, around table is always equal and it's kind of reminds us of a campfire also. And everyone should be able to hear each other everyone should be able to see each other. The distance between people is around the same. And when it comes to chairs, for instance, it also comes down to comfort. If you are sitting comfortably, you are more relaxed

We lived on the banks of lake. Munro Just outside of orlando so just north of orlando you on the water or just we had. We were like two blocks off the water but we had access to the kind of like what you are right now. Okay so we have access to the boat ramp but everyone knew us no matter where we went and we had a big old thirty foot. I'm sorry twenty. Six thirty foot regal a boat that we put in the water and we'd go up and down saint john's wherever we taken up saint augustine. We've gone all the way down. Jupiter florida and it's a nice ride. It's an open boat. It's got a little cutty below. It's bathroom it's got all this stuff now right here. Video of a gigantic walrus. Flopping up on a small boat has made the rounds on twitter on twitter this week. And that's about the size of boat. I actually this is a little A little bit smaller than what we have in the video. The wallis manages this is probably maybe a twenty foot boat right here. The walrus manage aboard the boat out there much heaving and flopping around twitter users speculate that the walrus could be called the one that they were looking for. Wally boat loving beasts known for accidentally capsizing the vessels off of ireland. So if you want to see this video i hear. I travel that far. No he wouldn't come all the way down the florida but this is wally. That's in ireland. The thirty second video made us around on twitter on august. Thirty first today. After yesterday The walrus walruses seen struggling to heave its oversized body onto an empty anchored boat heating and flapping walrus eventually manage. It's like a big fat girl trying to get out of the pool or something like that. Yeah i can see this all right so here we go. This is a big old big wars. So here we go up for it. Goes describe what's happening. Okay you're seeing the clump of front paws. Ah getting on the on the back of the boat very back on the boat and struggling to get in as he's doing it. The boat is dead into the boat is going down. And he's got away about five hundred pounds thousand pounds and he has got himself into the boat fully out of the water and into the boat and he just kind of chills hangs out there. It's going to be like uncomfortable. Something living on water. I mean all the plastic and climbing over it. I don't know what his motivation is. Well you know. Sometimes you'll see him in san francisco out in the bay you'll see all the seals and everyone not in the water you'll see him up on the pylon we see him on the decks. They'd lay on top of the decks town at the embarcadero. We see them a lot so that's probably what he's doing. He's he's like all right. Here's a what. I think in my mind walrus mine a rock or some kind of thing i can just sit out and sunan. Here's an abandoned boat. I'm just going to jump up on it. i guess. Give them something to do that. "You don't even know how to enter this particular subject to The aviation world and we personally suffered a huge loss This past week When our friend of bread mazari decay. Launchpad was killed when his airplane crashed in a field in texas apparently near near his home base in texas You know we. We talk about airplane. Crashes all the time on this podcast and we try to be to be a respectful about the the loss in those cases. But it's it's usually pretty academic and this isn't academic on this. This guy was was a good friend. We knew him well for years and years and we enjoyed seeing every time we saw him and And it's just a huge loss Just to give you some perspective and we're not alone. jabeen dave. The so i put a brief condolence post on the uncontrolled space twitter feed that that day it has become the most noted tweet ever on the uncontrolled airspace tweet stream by far by like a mult- by a factor of ten. It's it's incredible. The number of people who who checked in there and either simply click like or followed up with a with a comment Of brad of a you know. It's you know brad touched. I knew he touched a lot of lies. I knew this. Because i knew he was so involved and he was just such a great cheerleader. Generally the asian and such a sweet guy But i just almost took me by surprise in a way it didn't but it did It's just just amazing And i don't know what are you guys anything you want to remember about about brad missouri jeb. Dave if you met him you'd never forget him. That's the truth. You talk about larger than life you know. I mean he was a big guy physically Great big handlebar moustache and and a big presence of big smile. A big presence And so much energy when it came to anything. He was interested in and In our case it was it was in our particular situation. it was usually asian of some sort He brad i so my earliest. I first became aware of brad when we got a box. We got a package in the mail. All right and we opened it up to discover that it was filled with these. I don't know if. I always call them german but someone who said they might have been swiss these these these chocolate bars all right all kinds of different chocolate bars. All right and i think it must have been around about the time of was either oshkosh or or sun and fun because the three of us were together. And we held little round robin Draft as we split up these gandhi bars. Everybody taking their favorites and And and it was just a great treat And that was sort of one of our introductions to brad and those chocolate bars became very much his signature S he He would always be carrying around a pack a cold pack. Some sort of ice pack thing that would be filled with the little snack sized versions of these german. Indoor swish these these exotic cool chocolate bars. He'd always say hi and he'd reach into his bag and hand you a chocolate thing and then then off to the races in terms of whatever it was you were talking about it was The that became very much his signature. he when we first met him he was A rag was an american citizen I didn't realize that at first because when we first met him he was living in germany. i later realized that that was because that was his work was in in germany And he would travel from europe to the us each year to go to the lions and And then in later years he got relocated and he settled in texas. And that's where he's been for many years now he I was always jealous of brad for having gone through the motions and gotten the training and gotten certified to be an official crew member for. I believe it was fishy the joining And so he got to fly as a crew member on fee fee From time to time and that was very very cool Brad became a representative of pistol One of the aircraft manufacturers and he was particularly passionate about their electric aircraft program and was always pitching the the the strengths of that program and he You know he was somehow into balloons. I think come he was into. He was all kinds of aviation. He loved aviation. Brad was what. I call a stone aviation junkie. They go on and he was definitely Everything about it. He was interested in and His enthusiasm made you interested in it. He was a fixture at a lot of different events that we have attended or responsible for over the years and Was definitely one of a kind. He will be masked he i. He was a big time Friend of of this podcast and friends of us Friend of us individually and is enthusiasm. his gregarious. Nece if that's the correct where i think it will always be remembered always appreciated. Yeah yeah he So i say that the first time we sort of became aware of brad was with the chocolate. The box of chocolates incident in later years. I discovered that we had actually met. Brad on the podcast. A couple of years before that The second time we went to sun and fun and we were doing One of our full-blown episodes from the deck there at the at at sunan fun radio and we had we had Various listeners who were standing just outside the railing listening to what we were doing. A remarkably and And i took a hand. Mike and went out to the railing to talk to some of these people and And it was and i've known this for many years now but i didn't know it when we got the chocolate that one of the people i spoke to that day was brad mar sorry And and i you know if you go back to lift the cap episode. Seventy seven from april of oh eight You will hear us talking to me talking to Saying hello to brad and he introduced himself and described himself from being from stood cart..

There's mortal there's more you don't stop you're constantly on the broadcast. Let's take a look at another ryan. Clark tweet that somehow got onto the broadcast. Let's go all the way back to two. Thousand fourteen dc scrawl. It's like me wrestle with my son. Jordan dude is throwing in body slam. The legend hindle finally looked old. This is when. I really did kind of put it on my boy dan. This was crazy man and you know obviously every time i watched your fights. I did watch as a homeboy be. Strata is like it's another black. Do from louisiana in this sport and he's dominating and you know so now checking your back story. I'm looking at your wrestling history. And the see you throwing hindle around like that. That was crazy to me. Because i was like you got to watch the ball. I guess so. I so point you got to watch the h-bomb your fearlessness. And the way that you it just made me to fan. Yeah you know. Like i said i mean when i when i met you in atlanta. We were walking through the airport. I got on the horn right away. I was like bait bait. I just met dame cormet. He knows who i am. Oh of course. So that was my my dc introduction to all back to two thousand fourteen right. You've been following you love this thing. Now we spoke a little bit about off air about franson ghana and the interim title. There lewis is one of those guys that is fighting forty title. Get zero gone and yesterday bro. The black piece the first pitch at the astros game. Oh my gosh rate this. Clark look this oh zero. I'm talking about zero to ten. This is zero honestly. This is this this will get you. Beat up by dan lewis a. Here's why because i would watch him. Thought his fallout. And this guy can't do anything athletically. You know you wanna root for the black. Because he's from new orleans new orleans. Yes yes popeye's but this guy throws the ball that's why when you throw the first pitch you don't try you don't try. I've thrown the first pitch before. And i just tried to try it there. Don't do it hard because then you embarrass yourself. And that's exactly what they're not went out and did he went out and went for the knockout through this ball. Like like he fought francis and gone. We should have stayed outside through some kicks and made sure he was bad for z. One one that fight he lost that pitch. He logged the pitch man. Listen it's been fun. It's been a great fun. I mean to get a new show. You wonder how it's going to be. Chemistry is going to work. I feel like it's good. I mean we've had a good time. I love it is medicine. You know what it is. It's two dudes who just love sports yell sports right. Well you know how it is. We grew up. We did everything obviously. Didn't russell because they didn't have one hundred fifteen pounds my high school but to have an opportunity to be able to do you admire. Be with somebody you like. Yes here because in this business you don't always get that opportunity and talk about things. We love man. We can't miss our see. I just wanted. I always want to explain this right when i speak football in football fans. Tell me all you didn't play. How can you speak on this. I will learn through you. You can teach me about it right. "No activation clause within the contract that if you escalate the it's called escalation and contract to a main event five round contest what happens. What is different participation wise for you. I think that's what paulo speaking about. And i've been waiting for that argument to come for a long time quietly. I know what the answer is quietly. I'll share it with you. Guys ninety nine percent of the fighters will be recognized after the fact and without discussion and out of contract in the form of a monetary compensation there was never discussed. But it does happen. One hundred per cent of the main of it fighters are compensated. There's a hand where it comes in another way. I could also personalized that i had something going. Did dana favor ended up. Not coming through. But i did my part of it and he. There was another way that he paid me back. Which i thought was more than jenner's he didn't need to do it. I was expecting nothing but he saw it differently. He saw you. Said yes when i asked you to say yes or whether i got this done or not. I wasn't hated. But i i was handed. Something also just a fantastic fantastic opportunity. I'll tell you what it was trying to keep a secrets. There was a show called something. Always something in philadelphia always sunny in philadelphia and i went and did a commercial for it at a great time and they got paid for the commercial but also i gotta do this thing on tv. Anyway that was how he paid me for saying. Yes so i only because i'm using a personal but one hundred one hundred percents just so paulo understands. Hundred percent of mehtab at fighters will be recognized. Ninety nine percent will be in the form of check but that is after the fact but even with that. I don't know the paulos wrong. I have been waiting for this argument to come up. I've been waiting for this fight to happen. Exclusively as it pertains to your contract but because if your placement on the cards you don't have to go ninety percent longer. I don't think the paul's out of here. I suggest that maybe paulo hasn't been through it. I was surprised that paulos managers and coaches and teammates. Who have been. There didn't grab him go away. Here's how it works. But i'm not surprised that this come up. I'm a little surprised that it's taken this long for it to come up so in the final analysis. Let's not be upset with paulo. Let's not he says he didn't sign for him within his own code. If he has not signed he is therefore not obligated. That's not the standard of the industry. But if that is with his code we need to show respect to that okay. Lost opportunity. gasoline comes in. That's the punishment we're square. The punishment here has already happened. I want this to be deal. I want us all agree of this. The punishment apollo i in opportunity now goes to kelvin. We're even nobody mad. Apollo nobody pick on paulo. Nobody tried to pull follow down. He believed absent of a signature. We yet have deal fine. that's fair. He says peace paulo has done nothing wrong. All right guys. that's it for today's show. I hope you enjoyed it. We're gonna talk about later but Sunan fund had their spring break for for pilots and aviation enthusiasts Early april and. I'm happy to report that. They have had on every metric that they measure a forty seven year record breaking event. They had more campers than ever before. The campers stayed longer than ever before they had more aircraft than ever before the aircraft stayed longer than every before they had more people they had more gross revenue And slip back to warbirds commentary. a normal number of tending registered or birds for sun and fun for us is in the one fifties or we had one hundred and seventy-eight warbirds show up so there's pent up demand and we have every reason to expect that frosh cashier venture.

"On our links. Belief you to look at bud is undeniable. I mean the one with the Ufo coming out of the crater orissa's actually looks like it's coming out of it now it will be very way because obviously we Have cooled this on earth. And unfortunately we're gonna get this way the look to it but apart from the wavy look you can see. It is a mistake. -able ufo fight. Flying object is sort of overland shape. is lit up is hard to say exactly if he's made any substance but it looks disc shaped croft and it looks like it's coming out of the crater and then on the other video you've got what looks like lights you got on the another one appears next to it and then another one appears the one goes out in the one appears in the seal on the hovering over the crater next door so they're either landing or taking festival looks like anyway. But what are these things when they come from. Who's controlling them. These are all questions that need to be on said. Now i'm not saying for one minute. The these are extraterrestrial. Viggo Mortensen on new movie 'Falling'

"This is popcorn when we talk about. What's out there at the movies. There's a movie out there now. Called falling vigo mortenson. My guest is starring in it with this time in this movie falling. He also directs. It's the first time it's his feature directing debut and it's in many ways at top story but it's vigo to me. It's him saying. I'm going to take this on and see what happens. And what happens is so incredibly moving so figo. Welcome good to have you. Thanks is wonderful to see again. What i can't say. What attracted you to this because you wrote. This is something that came out of your own head and it feels very personal to me. But i don't know just help personnel. This it is personal but it's also I mean it's largely a fiction fictional family but the foundation of it is feelings. I have for my mother especially but by connection to my father as well into my childhood and adolescence so there are elements of truth. As far as i remember an memory subjected that after do with my upbringing and even with the aspect of dementia that that's dealt within the story. I've had a lot of experience with that. Both my parents stepfather grandparents. I've seen it up close in a caregiver. And it's something i wanted to explore. I wanted to explore the limits if there are any communication especially with people that you have a hard time communicating with other. I wanted to just more than anything asks questions. Rather than give answers. Ask myself questions and maybe half the audience are the people that you can't communicate with our the people. Obviously there are people that want to communicate with are there. People don't deserve to be communicated with or listen to i personally. Don't think so. But as person makes their own decision about that. It's i wanted to look fine. I wanted to explore the idea of empathy of communication and closer. We've gotten to the release of this movie. Which is february fifth. Us canada unexpectedly an away. Unfortunately this movie and the polarization the conflicts with this family that it deals with problems of communication are more timely than ever. Well i mean we come in the way i see admit point even low. Your movie is there's a great many flashbacks. And i should just say up front. That basically you're playing a gay man with a father who is suddenly hit by the ravages of dementia. It may even early onset and yet through the flashbacks in what we say we see. This man has always been difficult. He's been more than a handful. You know he's a racist in him. There's a person who can be a bowling and yet through the flashbacks to we see that he's capable of love. He's hard to take and yet we feel that we haven't seen except toward the end of the movie. What it was like when your character decides. I'm not gonna play at his wet. I'm going to try to give something. That is empathetic rather than something. That's hostile john. Is that yard. You're in sub it in your own life when you dealt with now in. My father wasn't anywhere near as difficult to deal with. We had better communication than john willis do in this story though sunan father but but my father was a man of his generation. He was not american use denmark but he was raised on a farm born during the depression went through the german occupation during world. War two ran away from home when he was fourteen You know self taught person who then eventually after he married. My mother moved the united states. He somehow got into business. School finished it in half the time by doing night courses nine. Just a determined person. Very self reliant. But like many men of that generation he was kind of even in his gentlest moments. A my way or the highway kind of guy. And that's just the way it was. And then you didn't adapt to changing times that well either the sixties the seventies is like what the hell's going on from their point of view. Why can't things just be the way they should be in. Men and women are women all that stuff and so there was a bit of that on my dad but but he was nowhere near as it was not as much of a conflict as you as i depicted in the movie. It's a fiction as i say this story. Even those became a father son story a basically the moral conscience to like the the the the fulcrum emotionally morally of the story really is is the mother for me. Is gwen by hannah. Gross the inspiration and the reason that they argue a lot. You know both father and son and also father and daughter. My sister played by laura. Linney the bone of contention. Is gwen a lot. So that was an important role and i. I guess that character resembles my mother and my relationship with that character in in the movie is more like my relationship with my mother than than the relationship with the father's like my own father. There's there's a lot of you that i see in this character in terms of how you play it and also how you directed wrote it which is nature of you know we see this man. He grew up in loved the farm. He loved it. He related to the horses to the answers like you. you know. there's something about nature where the best of him somehow is shown when he's with these animals he can't seem to rang. The embassy has them to is actual family which people in general yeah. It's just kind of tragic when it is said it is said and you know it's no accident that the first third of the movie threaded through it is this sequence that has to do with the duck the sequence of events right from seeing it shooting it bathing when it's sleeping with plucking cooking it and then finally you know eating it sharing it that way. let's that john that grows up to be your character of sleep. Was the dead duck. He lets him do that. He does some well. Yeah that whole thing. The story was away to introduce among things. What you're talking about the relationship that that family has with nature expos with life and death and all that would nature you. You all grow up for time on on a farm. I grew up in part. I bo bo cities and farms. I mean i learned to ride horses. When i was really little when i when i could walk and And my dad was someone who was raised on a farm And he introduced me and my brothers at the earliest possible age to campaign to know how to make a fire to forests and rivers and animals and fishing and hunting. And all those things. So i was very much part of my

Live Missile Found at LAL

"So what's the fun? An unexploded bomb at Lakeland airport influence is where son and finance look. That's what the news report says. Okay, exactly an unexploded bomb but live missile alive missile could be better or worse than an unexploded Bob depending on you know what they mean by live missile. Now, this story that we saw kind of goes out of its way to say it serious but not crazy dangerous. and. Right. So who would a jeb you? This story is yeah. First of all, this is from the Tampa Bay. Times. On August seventeen and There's in addition to, of course, Sunan Fund our other businesses and and concerns at Lakeland Linder Airport in where Senate, funding occurs each used to occur each year. So one of the businesses at that airport is a defense contractor. and. This defense contractor discovered invented had taken delivery of what is being called a live missile. Basically the quote from the company says in the process evaluating shipments to drake. International, Lakeland facility our team discovered an object with questionable markings. There's a quest, there's upset title for you. Indicated getting maybe explosive adhering to the explosive safety rule of exposing the minimum number of people for the minimum amount of time to potential explosive has it. We got the hell out. No, that's not what it says. It says we made the decision to evacuate the facility, inform our surrounding tenants and contact the appropriate authorities soon as possible. Apparently. This was a missile with an unexploded were alive warhead. It's unclear whether it was. You know solid fuel and ready to ready to be fired. There's all kinds of other questions that could be asked here there's a picture. Of. Understand what that picture is go ahead swept for there's a picture of some men wearing army fatigues, air force for something like that wrestling with this thing, it's about. the size of a small car or maybe a medium size car about that length, and it looks like could be about a meter in diameter. It's on cradle with with cash string wheels, and all this they're trying to me and handle it on the back of this flatbed truck Very interesting. So all kinds of things going on. At lakeland airport when it's not so infantile. Now, a couple of questions here first of all this jurors, what's the? It's Drake Drake Aka a K., and international. And where on the airport grounds is this located relative to the you know the the article the second graph of the article says that they evacuated the whole southeast side of the airport. doper chopper town. Yeah. Okay. Over there. All right. Yeah. Okay. And Jack and international is an aggressor. Squadron. Operation Right for training aired air pilots in combat I see. So it's an what a non-governmental training operation private private contractor and I haven't googled them but there's On old on say Oh, a not a current generation. Saab. Manufactured fighter called the draken. And many of them have found their ways into private hands I. See my say and I suspect that it's named after that type of airplane, right? Okay. And it's so. So. Many questions here. One would think if they were if anybody at draken was expecting alive munition to arrive keep going. They have been watching for it. You Know Sky Order I order A. Box of breakfast cereal from Amazon I put it on my calendar and I got reminders and. I know it's coming right Caution these rice krispies may exploded anytime snap crackle pop man but. So. How is so kind of the question whether or not did they get sent? This was this just sort of a special gift from some friend of drinking I suspect that they bought some surplus. Hardware. Okay from a vendor from maybe a directly from a foreign military. and. This was in the Tim. Yeah. Okay I guess.

Premier League: Manchester United Qualify for Champions League

"Manchester United and Chelsea qualify for the Champions League. UNITED WITH A to victory over less than meanwhile Chelsea without win against walls sees all. You're going to show and frank. Lampard side make it into the top four less city, but let's not forget with fifteen points Clare of fifth on New Year's. They dropped the ball completely in twenty twenty and have to make do with Europa League football dodgson staving echo with us, stevie united with win on the season. You one of the harshest critics so all. He's proved you wrong, isn't he? Host you? Listen the. You, you can't see that. Qualifying for the champions. League is not success. For, all the Because as You know ended a day. I think the biggest and the main reason why the option because when transfer marquette. Bought Bruno Fernandes without that piece of business. This this would happen so listen. He always asked to coach the team and he obviously had a hand and say Bruno Fernandes Oh yeah as I said. It's success. I'm not convinced that he can take them from from. Champions League qualifies to actually vying for the title against Liverpool in city I still. The way way off and I still think they have to say more players, but yes, but all they get into the champions lease as a success. But he's had plenty of time. Your United Stat Dome. That now. All you early I mean they close form then they all Liverpool, which is incredible thirty two from Bouma. Thirty three away from Liverpool, and it's not the right time in because I think that the well getting into jump and say those incredible finish I agree with Stevie. Bruno Fernandes doesn't come in. At this, all thing is that. Is Jason for Non Stop the season? Why did they wait until John? Rudy Sunan done I will never ever. No nothing deserves credit ease. That's big name. Players go shifted the dynamic inside the dressing room. He's might young is made them hungrier. There have been assigned to watch is not too many egos at the football club anymore, and you have a job on the summer. Trying to convince big plans like will stay on. And then chartwell tracked maybe three or four plans to try and give him so titled Till Next Season Way to they need to add to the squad don. I was still like say them. With a recognized number nine I get the argument where people think that Mason Green was going to lead the line, and maybe the could bring in some more to plan the rights on side because I'm not convinced marcial. Yet again I think the such a good player net. He's not consistent enough. And Watching Higher Maguire today and Victor Lindelof as a pair. I mean less than without James Madison. Pereira without Soyeoun shoe without some of their very best players, another about that was missing volley at Indiana Joe Coast to center offs problems time after time after time, and this under-strength less decide so I would like to see, and if they all going to try and compete again can get closer to the city. Liverpool in my opinion, need Weltklasse Center

Checklist // Approach Plate Best Practices

"Leaders will come back to the finer points and good morning it is seven thirty. AM here in San Francisco on a rainy Sunday morning. I have a cup of coffee. You got my microphones. You're here with me and we are GonNa talk about spatial disorientation and a little bit about the recent video. I published on power on stalls But I wanted to start with spatial disorientation. 'cause I got this podcast question from Gary and Gary Says Jason. I've heard you mentioned it multiple times in both the podcast and on the Youtube Channel to hold your checklist or approach plate up to the instrument panel. But what if your checklist or approach plate is in four flight and it's on an ipad mounted to your yoke. I understand I could print out on my checklists but what about the approach plates etc.. I truly enjoy the information. Please keep up the good work. I'm awesome Gary. Thank you for that question and it is a great conversation because we're living in a time of transition right now. I know this sounds funny but you might have heard me compare the period. We're living in now to that of the Titanic Manic Right. I mean we've got this new technology But we don't really know where the proverbial icebergs are. We don't really you know it's brave new world. We're doing things we could never do before. So one of those things is integrating digital tools into the cockpit. And let's just start by talking about why I want people to hold hold the checklists and approach plates up It's really multiple reasons. You know when you're via far pilot and you're on the ground and you're in a busy airport environment or even cruising along trying to maintain a sight picture for example the hold altitude. It's wise to pick things up and keep your eyes into the field of view. Where you you need to be looking right so not at the instrument panel? If you're via far you hold your checklists up to the window so you can keep your eyes looking out the window while you read the list your is just Kinda Dart right back and forth on instruments there's an additional component here. There's the component of spatial disorientation. Now you've probably also heard me say that the FAA takes a spatial disorientation simulator. Around to shows like Oshkosh's I think Sunan Fund so if you ever have a chance to use that simulator. It's a profound experience right right. I mean it's a spinning box spinning central y axis as you stand there on the outside. You can see this thing spinning but once you get inside. You don't really know it spinning all that Motion Ocean is invisible to you. They're not a parent and you're in a flight simulator. You know you're inside this spinning box flight simulator. And you're doing things that are pretty much normal you turn to this heading turned to that heading climbed. Descend at some point. The voice in your ear tells you to drop your Pencil and point your head down ninety degrees that is look at your feet to pick up the pencil and when you do that motion with your head in the ninety degrees from looking forward to looking straight down. It's unbelievable it's like someone picked up your feet and three. Are you backwards spinning through the air. It is completely disorienting. And this is what we're trying to avoid an instrument flying anybody that's ever been in in the clouds and experienced spatial disorientation. Knows just how uncomfortable that can be. Uncomfortable is not the right word. I was GONNA say scary. It's really you know you're trying to control this airplane in the Cosby. You're feeling Dizzy Wright. And then you're you start to feel the stress of holy cow it if I can't control this thing. This is a life threatening exercise. I'm engaged in here right On so you don't want to go down that road. You WanNa avoid that as much as possible so when you're in the clouds we all just to review we have fluid in our inner ears. Here's rate we've got little semicircular. Canals that help us detect pitch forward or role laughter around a vertical Axis. And the more you move your head had the more likely you are to move the fluid in your inner ear and experienced spatial disorientation. So when you're in the clouds you should typically weekly try to limit your head movement and move your eyes In you know and as we've always done you pick up your checklists and hold them right up to the instrument panel or your applaud PLO approach plates right up to the instrument panel for two reasons. One is that first reason just like via fire you want. Your is moving quickly back and forth between the data. You're trying to took hold old and the information you're trying to read but now also this new component of avoiding spatial disorientation or eight. So that's the lesson that's the way we've always taught it and like you know Gary you're saying here what we're starting to see this. Little proverbial iceberg. Moving into our way is that everyone is now attaching these this giant ipads to their knee boards or to their yolk or maybe better up somewhere on the window but still blocking the window So how do we deal with this. You know and It's a real thing you know it's in. It's precisely due to the technology. It's not a major difference you know but it's much easier to pick up a small paper checklist West than it is to pick up a giant ipad attached to your lap. So people put their head down. I need agrees. They do exactly what we've always coached them not to do you know. So how do we deal with that. And that's your question. I recommend with four flight. That you've got to devices period for flight allows you to have to devices for your log in And you also need a backup device right so I don't believe everyone is backing themselves up fully with paper. Maybe some people are but not everybody so I recommend. Do you have one IPAD. That's fixed in position. Maybe on your yoke or even on your lap I suppose And that is you're low altitude en route chart that is is your chart supplement. That has all the extra stuff you get with four flight. That is your imagery. That's everything you need to access and then in your hand something you're able to the pickup is your phone or an IPAD mini. I use an IPAD mini. That's on a little clipboard. So I can literally just stick my finger between the IPAD the clipboard and Sorta hold my hand up. And it's kind of attached to my finger on it certainly light enough to to use for approach plates and checklists. So my advice to you gary is to dedicate your your devices to different purposes and run to like run for flight onto devices. And if you have it on your yoke or you have to put it on in your lap stay conscious of the intention here and just try to move. Your eyes. Don't move no don't make large head movements in certainly not looking down ninety degrees degrees. If you ever have a chance to ride the Giro I think is what the FAA calls it And that is their spatial orientation simulator. Definitely do it. It will change the the way you think about this stuff and help you take it seriously. Thanks for that awesome question here

November 2019 Astrology Forecast: Last of Jupiter in Sag

"Right now into as we're recording this mercury is slowing down and getting ready to station retrograde but it's not quite there yet by the time I released this episode it'll probably be like right on the mercury integrate station it's happening on Halloween in Scorpio read yeah so that kind of opens the month in many ways it seems like right yeah one that's the it's one of the probably the most consistent thing about November is Mercury Retrograde until the twentieth and we'll be in Scorpio the entire month yeah and so you know other than the outer planets that is the most consistent thing about November it's all mercury and Scorpio all the time little bit retrograde little bit direct but in Scorpio the whole time yeah Ah I love that because then when a planet slows down and stations and just one sign you really get a much better feel for what that planet especially at enterprise like mercury is like all about one of the things I was doing a threat on twitter earlier this week was like talking about famous mercury and Scorpio place mints and some people throughout some pretty good ones I was curious if you guys have like a favorite mercury in Scorpio example that comes to mind see we'll see aware of so I believe you and Watson throughout Patrick Watson throughout Eminem and then we L. Yankovic whose parodies of Eminem were brilliant it was both mercury and Scorpio's I can contribute Alister Crowley who had Mercury and Jupiter both in the first second of Scorpio and so I think that I don't know his reputation in probably makes a lot of sense as far as mercury and Scorpio he was obviously obsessed with magic and mysteries and the Colt and also add as not everyone might know like eminem and like we don't Yankovic a a relentless troll right I was thinking about the episode I did on Evangeline Adams and one of the things where he had a falling out with her and he wrote this just like screed about horoscope writers that was like a very thinly veiled attack herb but yeah he also wrote a he wrote an essay on Arthur wait you in people may know weight from the writer Waite Smith Tarot he was one of the designers of that very popular Tarot deck and he called that essay dead eight okay about his uselessness but yet earlier one that you mentioned eminem was my favorite one and obviously the is a lot more going on there because he's like a libra with Sunan Libro with mercury and Scorpio and he has Saturn in Gemini and he was going through sort of Saturn return during the eight of his popularity in the early two thousands so obviously there's a lot more going on there but it's just funny thinking back especially a lot of his earlier music and how Oh so was the word like acerbic was in many ways as part of the reputation in the way that he expressed himself despite being a libra but having that mercury in Scorpion Lavi I think I think all three of our examples are Sunan Lebron okay what about you Kelly on the first came to mind when you mentioned that was at previous Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard who was incredibly shop intent agent woman and she's very famous for a speech about misogyny which he gave in parliament of attacking the opposite party and and some of their views I guess and I think she actually gave that speech when Satan in Scorpio was on her mercury in Scorpio so that's a really interesting one just speaking up from her perspective about how women were being traded according to the issues of the day and I think that's actually on youtube if anybody who's in trysted to to check it out but she's the first one she's also a son in libra actually was just having a quick check of that yes so there's that makes if you like and the other one enough is a poet Raynham Maria Rilke who I love his writing and unquote some of his poetry when I'm talking about Mercury and Scorpio about the truth telling but the depth there's a quart of he's that says something back you're not I'm just paraphrasing here but something like you're not dead yet it's not too late to dive into your depths and to find what's of hiding in there and mercury and his shot is like twenty nine school Pr Sorn that's interesting yeah the darkness of Rilke Yeah and he's actually Saj it's yet it's not just darkness it's like there's also you know the the juicy nes- certain of the hidden rivers of blood it's very passionate and very it's you know it's the depths of passion rate it's Jerry Elementary Wall artery but it's like you know yes throbbing lifeforce sort of water not not tepid water data I was thinking of that 'cause I previously on the Zodiac series I had used like ice as a mercury in Scorpio descriptors like an skewed but I was thinking about that earlier today that doesn't actually make as much sense because it's a Comorros ruled sign and Mars tends to be much more hot and much more fiery so it's more like hot water or water that's been rapidly brought to a boil and the funny imagery I thought of actually for Scorpio was a hot Tub Jacuzzi I'm great imagery for Scorpio we all know what happens in hot tubs I I so for for Scorpio for Scorpion water that that fixed but Marshall Water I usually use water which is flowing in a consistent direction such as in a fierce river or through a sewer system or it's it's always it's always moving always always moving but it's still fixed you know it's course where the river is headed and also blood like arteries right arteries veins that like always flowing fixed direction as a Scorpio lemonade ahead and stick with my Jacuzzi analogy and sewer analogy but I appreciate nonetheless the imagery well you know the I mean you know if you think about the rivers the blood within you it's important to have a sewer system right if your blood couldn't clean itself right then you'd be dead okay well I think it is important to keep your mind what you guys are talking about mercury assign ruled by Mas so there is shop nece or a directness or piecing quality two words and communication as mercury goes through Scorpio and as you said Austin it's Mercury Jio all the time this mom sometimes retrograde sometimes not but it is I mean if you've never read Real Kaz poetry this be a good month to Woah to try some of it but it's very piecing there's nothing that is left unexplored or unsaid no matter how shop would direct it might mm-hmm so there it is open with November first mercury is retrograde already conjuncture Venus Venus quickly changed does signs that same day and moves into cemeteries and the mercury basically spends the rest of the month in Scorpio before eventually stationing about three weeks later into November yeah well and it so it's worth noting here that mercury during this retrograde is really not strongly configured too much right it's ruler Mars is in libra for almost the entire time that Mercury's Retrograde Mars does move into Scorpio later in the month but just as the retrograde is leaving off and we literally Elbow Semel Tena Sleepy Mercury stationing direct as when Mars joins the pardon yeah and so and then Venus leaves of Venus Leaves Scorpio for Szeged areas a day after mercury turns

Anne Ortelee's Weekly Weather Astrology

"We're gonNA talk about the week ahead I know last week was pretty hard for a lot of people I did say it was going to have a lot of stress energies and then you know had a few people report in cancer diagnoses or reveals of things that were a little harder to find out you know like Gee that I didn't know that was happening or I found out this you know so it it's a it's it's you know remember the bigger picture that we're working with here as all these planets move forward somebody somebody said to me so like what's going on yeah it's like really brutal and I'm like it is it's it's hard choices and I just want to encourage everybody to be very gentle with yourself you know and really kind of take extra care extra care on the self care extra care on how you nurture yourself you know like hanging out with people that you find supportive rather than people that are you know giving you a hard time about stuff and really honoring how do you support yourself how do you support others as we go towards this forward motion monumental Choice and there is a lot of kind of mean energy out there so when I see that I'm always Kinda like you know the there was a thing this week with Ellen Degeneres sitting next to President Bush and everybody yelling at her it's like you know respect for everybody's choices and because the planets are you know the Saturn Pluto are the dogmatic hard father energy the hard authoritarian power you must do this and this week we're having of energy kind of working with that you know like in your face really you want to kind of watch when you're coming across as dogmatic and you must or if someone's coming dog matic you cause remember a lot of times when they're coming after you really is their issue that they haven't resolved yet because there objecting it on you and they're telling you you do it and you kind of look and you go actually that's my it's not my issue that's your issue just kind of being taking an extra moment to be kind and to kind of look for where the blessing is look for the key you know the moment of consideration the moment of thinking I had someone come here and we were talking about his dead wife was you know and he said my wife would lean forward and she'd say have you ever considered in a in you know hoping open the space way and he was in areas and he goes I you know I make decisions I'm like next and she was say you ever considered and so you wanna kind of you know because the energy is like next you want to kind of take that posture of Oh have you ever considered and what that would do now that said you may be like no next and I'm good with that because we are making being choices for our future and we're deciding January January twelfth seven Pluto getting married man so you're going down the aisle with them that day whether you want we're not so you WANNA look at your life and go so like who do I wanNA marry January right I mean we're they're getting married twenty two in your chart you know what you're planning to twenty two capricorn that are getting married to the big guys right so honoring that there's this man of how do we how do we consider and consider of course is sitter whenever anybody says it I always sit up sitter it stars scenarios Odi AC con Sitter working with the stars you go astrology is everywhere man it's everywhere I recently heard Rick Levin say that you know at the conference he goes yeah when they say they don't believe in astrology I go so like you don't use it calendar 'cause the days of the week are all named after the planets right Sundays Sunday Saturn stays Saturday moon day is Monday right and if you know your French or Spanish America J. Marty's Fonder D- those are all you know named the planet's two so our job this week is to honor and to consider how we WANNA work with stars how we want to work with the paths in our lives that are opening up before us the choices were being presented with and the options ahead of us the other thing that happens this week we're going to have a big old mercury retrograde motion the first part of November cause retrograde on Halloween and it's retrograde for twenty one days in November today it enters shadow meaning yesterday actually it under yesterday yesterday and today Mercury under the shadow so what you're going to be working with on the mercury degrade has just shown up right and has just stepped forward and said this is what you're going to work on and you will get it over the next few days you know we approached the shadow this also means that you're going to hear from your old ghosts and I always encourage you to talk to go especially now because these are the Scorpio ghosts and mercury in Scorpio always has really good stories it seems like there's all sorts of secrets being leaked now and you know we can see it in politics we can see it in stories coming forward people wanting to tell us things This week we had a lot about Matlin hour and his behavior Ronin Farrell's new books coming out and he's like I didn't do that and you're Kinda like all right you know the C Chris coming out you know and it and it is part of the job of the Saturn Pluto because they're writing the wrongs they're rectifying the structures they're looking at the structures that are not working for us and they're saying you need a better structure what do you want that structure to be with the idea being getting that structure it in place in January and then starting to build on it all next year right and then really building the next thirty six years so watch for the season ritz in your life mercury is GonNa go retrograde and he is going to talk to you you know so he's going to go all the way up to last year Scorpio and then he's GonNa come on way back down he is in the path of fire so people are very fiery with their communications the Venus is in the path of fire. She's in Scorpio the sun is in the path of fire which is via combustive which is there's a bunch of mean stars and the part and this part of the heavens so Mars will be there next week so I'm oh my little cat just came over to like I said we're going to have a cat visit at this this podcast so the energy of the heavens is really inviting us to find that we're maybe a little on fire and that we're really you know kind of feeling this passionate energy the other thing that happens is last today at six forty six oh seven PM There was a full moon tonight full moon in aries which takes us back to aries time October tape rhyl rather thirteen of eighteen and then back to Capricorn Time January thirteenth of this year and now we have the full moon right and so then when we get to cancer next summer we have the closing when we get to June thirteenth get out of my water um everybody likes my water yeah so we're GONNA have this energy of new vision and seeing things is and reveals because the mercury Venus in Scorpio are tolin tails and Venus now mercury doubt going retrograde it's communication it's paperwork it's things coming to light you WANNA ask you WanNa Kinda say hey you know what if someone calls as long as they're safe goes you know some of them are go should ever talked to again but if they're safe ghost or if you run into someone and they share something that kind of sheds a little light on a situation from your pass that allows you to reframe it and give you a different vision of it that's really important too and I know I always watch the scores b-best stuff because I have a Lotta Scorpio my chart but with mercury there it wants to tell you things that you need to know for decision it's it's it's a decision making mercury remember mercury and Scorpio the energy of Scorpio's about accounting for things and so it's saying to you need to account for this you need to assure this you need to add this factor into your decisions so he also is e- Scorpio's financial sign so we need to think about that this financially we need to think about this in terms of the value to us and what is so it's an interesting energy that we have this week around this consciousness of things coming to light feeling very impassioned also taking it into consideration consider have you ever are considered have you ever tried to work with so blessings on that and honoring where the space is of DC connect now this week Mars is GonNa Square the nodes of fate when he does that he gives us choices he's GonNa ask us to make some choices remember he is entering Venus and Scorpio so he's a little in dense and he's pretty passionate and he also is making choices so it's important to take into consideration to take into balance and as we go forward into the fall season and the days get shorter and shorter and shorter we are really in that time of descending into the internal L. darkness seeing the plants shed their leaves she ing the world release here at least in the northern hemisphere down south everything's blooming but we're released thing we're entering that phase of deep Al Chemical Transformation Scorpio is the sign of alchemy and WE'RE GONNA be experienced this transformation in our lives in the lives of our friends and it is time when things are going to be revealed illnesses will be diagnosed stories will change and it's not going to be I don't think it's going to be as hard as last week was but it is Mercury Scorpio so you you might find that some of the stories that you're told are a little harder than you would like all right so tonight do your ritual it's about releasing back to April back to January of last year April of last year January of this year culminating sending it out into the world and so the Moon Today the moon today's and areas with a closing aspect of square to Pluto at six and it read and it goes into tourists tomorrow afternoon at twelve twenty four p That is Thanksgiving Day in Canada happy Thanksgiving are IAN friends that is suck us in the Jewish tradition that is Columbus Day here most people have the day off I will be working because I just Ted ten days off and I can't be too much of a slug Abed even though I might WanNa sleep in tomorrow morning so anyway the moon goes into tourist twelve twenty four four and Monday and Tuesday with that lovely moon tours a really very productive days Munin tourists has a lovely trying to Pluto at four thirty eighty seven am kinda pushing it forward and then the moon is void all day Wednesday on the sixteenth goes forward or four thirty seven in the morning void all day but a good closing aspects so even though it's you can get a lot of stuff done but just don't start new stuff but you really good aspects Monday all day Tuesday all the seventeenth and all the eighteenth going void at ten fourteen pm moon is trying winning Geminis trying Sunan Libra so those are very collaborative cooperative connecting relating partnering

Going From Earth To The International Space Station, First With Russian Spacecraft, Now with SpaceX

"Dragon two capsule in samba the niece spacecraft which were launched aboard a falcon nine rocket will allow america to finally fly at sunan crude to the international so space station without having to rely on russian soyuz rocket technology to get the america's been using the russian so us ever since it moth bowl the space shuttle fleet in two two thousand eleven no rule planning it being done for replacement so nassar awarded a bunch of contracts to private companies to provide crew in kaga transfer services to space station spacex and over the sciences eighty k. one the kaga contract spacex with passenger version of its dragon capsule the crew dragon into and boeing with a new spacecraft developed called the ceus t. one hundred style which will launch aboard an atlas five rocket that style liner and dragon will be reusable usable and capable of transferring the seven crew at a time between earth and the space station spacex have already carried at one unmanned test flight for the new crew dragon two capsule successfully launching to the space station automatically docking with it and then returning safely to the earth the company had planned to carry out its first manned test flight this month with regular crew transferred flies to the space station commencing by the end of the year but those plans were all scrubbed folly an explosion and fire which destroyed a crew dragon to capture during a lunch about ground test at cape canaveral in april. The failure was eventually traced to a problem with titanium vow system on the spacecraft super drako occur rocket launch abort system affixed has been developed but it converts the super drako rockets from reusable propulsion systems to single use only spacex have delivered a two and a half tons of supplies and equipment to the international space station. The flight nazi-era say team was the third mission for the same dragon captial it had previously flown on sierra's six back in april twenty fifteen and say are as thirteen in december twenty seventeen series eighteen blasted it off from space launch complex forty cape canaveral air force station in florida aboard a falcon nine rocket launcher being delayed by day following last minute scrub geeta bed with a ten nine eight seven by four three two one aw here vehicles pitching down ridge and there is successful liftoff of falcon nine carrying our our <hes> on a dragon spacecraft to the international space station network currently in a a what we call the throttle bucket and that's because in about thirty seconds we have an event called maximum dynamic pressure or max q. That's the point where the vehicle it was infrasonic the highest dynamic stresses so what we do is we bring down the engines a little bit pass through that point and throttle back up once the atmosphere her continues to drop off above that point vehicle is experiencing maximum aerodynamic so now we're through that point imagine to dynamic pressure now coming up are are a series of rapid events main engine cutoff than stage separation followed by second engine start of the second stage's merlin vacuum engine and then the first stage is gonna conduct boost back burn followed by a dragon nosecone deploy now managing cutoff or meco is where all nine merlin roland one d engines on the first stage will shut down followed shortly after that stage separation and then a few seconds later the merlin vacuum engine engine on the second stage will ignite to boost dragon into lower orbit in fact during a sent you heard the call out for engine chillan of that merlin vacuum engine stage separation from sort of and you can hear the cheers behind me. That's a successful start the of the merlin vacuum engine and boost back maneuver of the first stage shortly here. We should have nosecone deploy off dragon. We no longer need it now. That we're out of condense parts of the earth's atmosphere second-stage on its way to drop off dragon to its target orbit on the way to the international space station falcon nine first stage on its way to cape canaveral florida landing zone one for successful landing. Our first stage had an on-time launch at six so one p._m. Eastern standard time you just a few minutes trajectories. You had a nominal ascent an ideal stage separation. We just performed the first of three burns of the first day to boost back burn and we're a little more than a minute away from that second. Burn the in terms of fuel conservation nations only fire one merlin engine on this final burn engine number nine the center engine entry translate the orlando burn has begun stage two is entered terminal guidance the to note one hundred and the falcon has landed congratulations everyone here at space expert other successful landing for those as you keeping score this is our forty four successful first-stage recovery the secondary mission at space x vehicle ability back emission so back to our my primary mission orbital insertion we just had secondary engine cut off and you just heard the call out for a good orbit. That's fantastic that means that dragon reagan and the second stage are in low-earth orbit around the earth. Now the second stage does have one last major task for today's mission and that's commanding separation nation of the dragon spacecraft very shortly from now dragging separation confirmed signal. You can hear the cheers on count on one separation off dragging goes for mission to the international space station the dragon team doing little hand off with falcon there well the folk talkin nines first-stage returned to with performing a textbook landing on landing pad wanted cape canaveral dragon spacecraft continued to the international space station arriving two days later upon rendezvous dragon was grad by the opening opposite candid. I'm too and beth under the hominy docking module series eighteen delivered some one thousand one hundred ninety ninety two kilograms of scientific equipment and supplies as well as two hundred and thirty three kilograms of crew supplies one hundred and fifty seven kilograms of vehicle hot way for the space station seventeen kilograms of computer equipment and one hundred fifty seven kilograms of space walk equipment. The mission also carried the new international docking adept to three these new docking adapters raptors attached to the space station. How many modules to pressurized mating adapter docking ports. They'll enable dragon style spacecraft to dock autonomously the space station asian dragon will remain docked to the isis until august the twentieth when it will be undocked and then returned to earth karen completed experiments equipment science experiments servants included in the sierras eighteen manifest include the multi scale bowling experiment designed to use a laser to heat a refrigerant liquid in microgravity to trigger vapor bubble. The astronauts will then use a gray scale camera to track the bubbles formation and growth revealing the processes at work in order to better understand the seemingly simple but actually rather complex flick's process also boards the by rock experiment. It'll study how microbes feet on besset extracting ions food and forming biofilm scientists want wanna understand how altered states of gravity a thick this process another experiment will help scientists better understand the neurodegenerative effects of spaceflight the amyloid aggregation agregation experiment will try to understand why astronauts post-flight brain scans show changes similar to those of elderly patients suffering from alzheimer's meanwhile a russian in progress cargo ship carrying two point seven tons of food and supplies as also successfully launched and docked with the international space station but instead of taking two days to get the it didn't just three and a half hours to bits second umbilical tower. It started out. Come back yeah liftoff of the province progress seventy-three on its way amoco's space
