"Welcome back. It's like Inception anyways when you're taking a poll in the office and we think our last two shows will be our best ones, or at least in our top 600, it's time for a final survey. All right, so circuit survey found out that one in four delivery drivers do this in their trucks. You guys ready? Based on. Is it a P and M? V hooking up? Oh. Do you hook up in them or see masturbating them? Don't give away your answers, Nina. We know it's C, oh is this the final? Are we going to be very competitive today on this? Not at all. I am. I'm going to go with what you're saying masturbating them? Yeah, I mean, this is yeah. I agree with agree with you except that would mean that a quarter of all drivers are admitting that they masturbate in their vans, which I don't feel like they would, I feel like they wouldn't have been. But just pick an answer. Yeah, I know, seriously. This is not a two hour special. The reason I know it's not a B, hook up with them. Hook up with people. Okay. Hook up in the. Let's see the answer. Hook up. Just saying I'm the best at survey says that there's ever been. Oh my God, next up, a recent poll had men estimating how loud their female partner snore was the top answer as loud as a, a toilet flushing B, a wood chipper, or C a vacuum cleaner. I'm gonna go with C because it's funny. You know what? I'm tired of competing with Nina, I'm also gonna go with C love you. Let's see. That just sounds like something men would say. Okay. All right, moving on to what to our next round, what percentage of people say they trust influencers like Gwyneth Paltrow more than doctors. This is scary. Is it a 20% B 55% or C 70%? Either any of these numbers is scary. At 1% is scary to me. But I'm going to go with 20. 20, my girls never wrong except for the first one. What's the answer? Not that it's a competition. Is this the last one? Yeah. C. And finally, a study of 2000 happy couples in the UK said they need 6 meaningful conversations a month to be happy. Wow. A month? That's nice, but we're more interested in conflict. So how many huge arguments did they need for a perfect marriage? Is it a 6 B three or C two? I'm going to go with C I'm going to go with C as well. Since he picked C I'll go for being just for giggles. All right, let's see giggles. Perfect round. You win. On the last survey says, yeah, I don't feel like I would like to argue with my partner more than two major arguments a month. That's a lot. That's so. What's a major like throwing things at the wall? Like, it's like, I think it's like when you, when you grab the knife, but you're not going to do it. The knife. Oh God. Well, four out of four surveys say we're done with all the. Be sure to tune in tomorrow for our big nightly pop finale bye.

Did Adam Levine Have an Affair With an Instagram Model?

"Top story today has to be that the maroon 5 lead singer, Adam Levine. He might find himself marooned from his marriage to supermodel, but had he pins low to very juicy story and it doesn't take much to see just how smarmy this guy Adam Levine truly is. And once again, my gut, my Spidey sense has always told me about this guy. And I'm right. I'm right. I wish I could print the whole newspaper one day about what my gut tells me. It'd be a lot more accurate than the newspapers you read now. A lot more honest and truthful. I'll tell you that right now. So here's what's unfolded the last day or so. Monday night, I'm on TikTok. I know. Don't laugh. Sometimes there are good leads on that stupid Chinese owned app. That's not so secretly spying on us. Once you get past the goofy dance routines and stuff, you find some people who like to drop dimes on people. Very interesting. So I'm watching TikTok. This very cute, but obviously cosmetically enhanced or cosmetically injected Instagram model. Sorry, didn't shut my phone off. This very cute but obviously cosmetically injected Instagram model comes on to show proof that she's had some sort of sexual relationship with Adam Lee a few years ago and it lasted for about a year, she said. Her name is summer stroke, very striking young woman. Let's just put it that way. Looks a lot like the Instagram models you see nowadays. These are girls that, you know, just I'm not quite models that would get work all over the world, maybe catalog work, what have you, they're not going to do runway work, but still they're very attractive until you get them speak. So her name is Sumner stroh, and she laid it all out. And her timing was obviously very well planned because she came forward just a few days after Adam Levine's wife announced the third pregnancy.

"Food is on the agenda at The White House this week. The Biden administration says it's giving a $1 billion to small meat processing companies. Grants to help finance new meat processing plants and easier financing terms for companies that need to borrow money to do what they do. The idea is marketplace Justin Ho reports is to give those smaller processors a leg up against the four big meat packing companies that handle the lion's share of meat production in this economy. Over the past year, the cost of beef has gone up almost 20%, but the income of the people who actually raise the animals, not so much. The small farmer and rancher today is just getting weeded out. That's Kerry bexley. He owns snow's barbecue and Lexington, Texas, and runs a small cattle ranch. He says the price he gets per head has not kept up with the prices he's paying for brisket. I mean, I'm paying probably my near double of what I was paying a year and a half ago. And I'm not getting double on the hoof when I sell them at the market. Part of the issue is that ranchers don't have a lot of meat packers that can sell to. That's been true for decades, says Dan Sumner, an agricultural economist at UC Davis. Concentration has been around in the meatpacking industry for a very long time. At least the generation or two. And it really hasn't changed very much. Demand for beef has gone up during the pandemic. And so of revenues at some of the big meat processors. Sumner says it's worth keeping in mind that these companies operate at large scale. A plant that process 5000 animals a day is substantially more efficient than one that processes 500. The Biden administration says, the aid package is meant to increase competition by expanding processing capacity. But even with the additional aid, it'll be a challenge for smaller producers to compete in the long term. Says Glenn tanzer, who teaches agricultural economics at Kansas state university. And one needs to think not in days and weeks and frankly, even individual years the decades because these are very expensive facilities that have multiple decades of life to them when they're built. And tonsor says the meat packing industry is continuing to deal with.

In two thousand twelve and has been passionately helping future tiny house dwellers ever since. Welcome ethan thanks less. It's great to be here. So how did you first become interested in tiny houses. How far back do you want me to go. I guess a good place to start is. I was out of college for a few years Working a couple of different kind of corporate jobs. Getting getting my feet wet kind of experiencing that that nine five cubicle lifestyle and i was not digging it so i had moved to vermont and gotten a job with a smaller company hoping like hey maybe maybe the big corporate culture isn't for me but maybe if i moved to a place that i love it will work out but i still just found. It actually got worse. Because i moved to vermont surrounded by wonderful mountains and skiing and mountain biking all these these activities that i love to do finding that i was. I was locked down to a desk for for much too much time. And so i decided to take a sabbatical. The company was really flexible. So i took a month of took all my vacation time and then some unpaid time and i did a bicycle tour on the west coast of the united states. With my cousin you know where you have the four years on your bike. You're carrying all your gear It's like the tiniest of tiny houses because you're carrying all your stuff with you. It's almost nomadic and throughout the trip we actually used a website called couch surfing and stayed in several tiny houses. But when i got home from the trip. I really it kind of forced me to take a restock of my life. The house that i was renting seemed so big and so overkill and i just realized like oh i could. I could drastically reduce what i need for my housing

"Not your Shining Moment. This is not your movie, you would not the main, so he's like, listen, I'm gonna win this thing. I don't want to lose, and it's because of me put P&P, had got benched because he quit on the team, a few games earlier, right? And Oh, shoot what just happened? Oh hell, you froze up? Oh now your mute. Oh oh no. Wait a second. It might have to kill difficulties. It's a zoom show. So there might be technical difficulties sometimes penes about to save the day and we he's David is David Sumner you guys. It's at Damon Jr. To Instagram and abdomen, Junior off on Twitter so you're back. It's going to be removed and my back in here I could hear you now. Yeah what's going to happen? Here is it's a suspenseful music but we're p d is going to come in and save the day but but there has been a plus in the dark Forest. Let's get back to it. What happened does PD come in? Oh my goodness, he comes in and polish out for the Super 8 in Asheville, North Carolina. So so, so we are pleased like, yo, like listen, I appreciate this right off. Thank you for letting me come into the game. I let my team down, I let them down. And now you Ryan, Gosling, Alan. You like to know what? I'm going to take some humility to your, the better player get in the game. All right? So second half, we get into the game, right side. Note em on. She comes to the championship game. Like she said, she would to Gary, right? Even though here is that there? Of course, he's watching the game at the hospital, but she absolutely. And so, she finds Julius and she shakes his head and says, I just wanted to introduce you, right? Trying to, you know, fulfill what she said, is this a touching moment, Julius accept walk-ins a good moment, right? So we get you, we get to the second half, right? And we, we realize a couple of things I officially going to play both sides of the ball, we need to get some points on the board, right? Boom, boom, boom. All right, we score now. We are down by Four Points. Hey fourth-quarter, this is the end of the movie, right here. Jack this take-home this is Sports on. This is the best sports movie song. This is how they all end. "So now he's thrust into action, right? And so Denzel makes up this last coach Boone, he's like, listen, my mom and my dad both died in the same month. I was the youngest of twelve kids have to take over. You can do that too, right? And his assistant is, like I thought you had eight brothers and sisters, but it's better than what. And if you don't have a story, make up a story off as a former teacher, I've done that several times to get kids to do that. English word. Anyway, I click and so, so it comes in. He's pressed his head. He leaves the charge right, they're feeling good. Now they get to the Regional Championship game, okay? They get to the Regional Championship game and before they get to the Regional Championship game cuz blue has a policy where it's like, listen, I don't cut players. If you come, were you do your best for me? I'll never cut you. This is a public high school or Gary respects. That's just, like, your coach. I need to talk to. I think Ray did not block on purpose. I want you to cut them because like I said, you gotta do it. All right? You gotta support it. So, after the game, he's like, yo man. Hey, you off the team? Like, were you talking about? Do we been through too much? It's like, now, I mean we, we move into something better and you and with it, so I said to get you cooked, he's you know, he's like oh well I guess it is your dad his team-mate right? Forget it right? And so yeah. Oh yeah, he tried to cut him deep. Yeah. Uh, huh. So we get on, right, and eventually few other things happen. Julius does get a chance to meet Gary's mother right after running the community, as I'm kind of moving through this quickly. The community is Kathy, Slowly taking on right, you get the Montage or six seven wins. They're they're, they're giving them free dinners at the diner right there. High five. And you know, our community off One, Cop is nice. Yeah, sure yeah, yeah. Let's get that guy. A stash our parade. Okay, absolutely fax so so we're good here right now we get you, we get to the Regional Championship game. We get we get some Regional Championship game and not opposing coach does not want to share video. They don't want to swap videotapes with Coach boom, right? So he's on TV, he's got two great players. It's like, listen here. These are my two great defensive player, right module, great defensive players, and I'll never trade tape with that monkey, right hands. Like, whoa, big words big dog. He's a big words, right? Yeah, he's dead. Coach Boone's like okay, okay. All right. I got you, right? So they get to the Regional Championship game, right? This is before the State title before they get to the the spinal finals took a second to last game they get there. It's a tough battle, right? Boom. Boom. Boom goes they win..

"In the season, I don't know like like fifteen an 11-game like just curious to see it's it's like you get a surfing episode of the Dark Forest and one of my questions was where do you park anyway. So I don't always get the spelling and the details. It's a valid question. Okay. So there's like 11 gigs garlic. Yes. But they took the window. Yes, they're winning their undefeated right now, right? So coach Boone he comes over one day. He invites coach yoast to bring Cheryl to the house right so Cheryl right coach Schultz daughter she's at the house with the bones so they're chilling. She's at probably the first black family, she's hung out with without her dad. Right now with Talking Football, they're breaking down tape cut Corners like what you go play with like dolls and and she's like, I don't play with dolls. I'm not Nikki says I'm accessorizing, right wage. And and so, as we see this character happened, boom, a brick comes through the window right now. I found out today that in real life. It wasn't a brick. It was actually a toilet. Whoa, what club frenzy? Yeah. Yeah, that's so, a break comes through and like, coach cool. This is for you, right? And so, this is a big moment, right? This is a big moment for everybody, it's traumatic, right? Wage happening. And the next day kochi oats is trying to like, you know, kind of low-key reprimand coach Boone cuz it's kind of Pride was trying to do this press conference and put on this big strong. You know, kind of bravado type of press conference. He's like, listen, listen, let's not do all that. That's not going to show both. If your past your past sins, led to whatever happened last night was like, whoa, whoa, coach, you see my past sins, little brick. And my window is like, I'm sorry, the what happened to your daughter? I really am. But maybe your daughter got a taste of with my daughter goes to on a regular basis. Welcome to my world, right? Yep. And this is another breadcrumb that opens up for Koji outsides here. Right? Right, right, right. So they don't both cars, they do a great job that we don't really get into of, of character development that both players and both coaches are really learning for. And that's another great thing about this movie. Everyone is evolving. Everyone is growing, it's not just the whites, not just the blacks, it's not just the parents everyone. The, the seventeen year olds are all growing most dang, right? Or growing and evolving in the sake of time, right? So we get to the last few big games here right now. We're undefeated things to hide things of good faith. I'll type of stuff I can leave in but we don't have time for it but you get to the second-to-last game and in the second-to-last game we have the right. The second to last game of the last three games and if you listening to this and your die-hard fan, you're like damn, you're all over the place. I know you'll feel the pressure if you have to do this to all right, so begin to it. Yeah plain yeah I remember Ray r. A job. Good guy here Ray is not blocking or f r a let's a player come through the playing, a very strong team in rev gets hit so hard breaks his life and right, he's out for the rest of the season. All this is a big hit. This is a big blow, right? Because sunshine. Sunshine is a backup quarterback. He hasn't played. He doesn't know how to pitch the ball that, well, he can throw long, but he can't throw short..

"Already called out, right? I haven't talked to anybody else, right? So after all this happened, Sunshine comes, they have this moment. They're practicing a night. This here is the fulcrum moment of birth. The movie is one of my favorite movie moments of all the movies is one of my favorite moments. In this movie, here is one of my favorite moments. In all of Cinema, listen to the people. I don't like to speak in hyperbole, but this is my only time on Thursday, so I'm giving you all the exaggeration. All right, so we're going big. Let's hear we're practicing at night, right? It got the headlights on, it's nighttime. And they just Carlos, like, there's no way Jose. Gatlinburg, there's no, like big places, just, like, buses, with their lights on their running. This play over and over over and over, right? They haven't gotten it, right? And so Rahe, the full bag does not blow off for PD, right? And then Gary checks them in front of everybody, right? And Coach. T is about to go stop it and Coach jokes. It's like, whoa, let them handle this. Let me handle this wage raised, like, what are you doing checking me, do, what's, what's good? We're friends just like, oh, you better get with it. You better get into it. Brother. Cuz are we going to play hard? Right, cuz raised on offense really Julius are on defense. And so the next play, right? The moments building the music's gone. I see it. I got goosebumps right now Jagged. And so, so the moments gone, the next play happens, right? Ray doesn't happen. Again, Julius comes and lays out. Rev, boom. And now the defense is hyped and then Gary pushes Julius cuz you're on defense together. And he says, yeah, he goes left of cuz I planned on the left side and then Julius just like did you just push me? He realizes Gary's trying to rid of him up were together. Camaraderie he goes strong side. They go left side strong-side, wage jobs, I love Last wrong side and the defense gets in. That is the moment when the Music Drops, another Montage. Boom. Unity is building and we're taking off from the races, right? Okay. All right. Do you know that? I have a friend of mine who says left side strong-side regularly, her name is Jenny Berkman. She owns a toy store, in New York City. Yeah, very weird. She loves, she clearly loves Remember the Titans. I know that she has always enjoyed Denzel Washington before. Denzel Washington, huge, Tom Cruise fan. So I think she likes of dreaming page where the wind blows smoke anywhere cuz so handsome gentleman. Anyway so left side strong-side. This is where the Unity comes. This is where the Unity comes off the big Montage. Now, we're working together with blessing until we're having a great time, right?.

"Dead-on. Yeah, the the air is moist. Yo, said you got Denzel with its bacterial, the moment you understand and it gives us big speech about just how he's men who fought and died are going to be, you know, you're going to be like them if we can't get past this, right. So this is a big moment here. This is a big moment and we get more bread. Crumbs that, you know, kind of leaves us in the right direction. Now, Jackson, we're still not where we need to be it, but we're slowly making leeway. Okay, we're now beginning to have a few jokes. We're now beginning to have a little bit of an interaction, right? There's some camaraderie, we're forties and the camp where we went to Camp when we get again. Why do we now to Big more things happening? Number one, we got a new player off. Nuclear comes into town and he comes again for like a Marines family. And yeah. So now this is a 1971. Southern Virginia buzz, cut off short hair and the player, right. The Sun comes out from California long, just gold pretty hair. Just promise, not to shine. They call them off. And and so Gary kind of makes this, you know, just rude remark, you know, untimely and tasteful. Remark say, hey well Nino, fruitcakes on the team. He says 1971 Jeep. That's right. And so excited history on all. The topics Gary gray is the distance is trying to trade off. Gary, is showing his beginning show before he Morse, right? Okay. Okay. Is only picks up the football throws, the football hits Gary. That's like, oh yeah, he can make the team, he'll be fine and and so long. Another piece of the puzzle. Another big moment here. Is that Gary, okay, Gary. And Julius of torture, they were crucial, they finally get into it. They finally have their big moment whether like, listen, man, let's just get to know each other. Well we still ain't friends. Let's be very clear. We're still not friends and Joey says like, you don't want to really get to know. Me is like you don't want to know me cuz if you want to you're the leader of the team. Second gear is like I am the leader right? Well they won't you tell them to start blocking for reals and PD because you are not doing your job, you can't call me out, right? Cuz he was calling out Julia's for having a bad attitude. He was like, well, my favorite lines leadership reflects off said, attitude, reflects leadership, captain and I just one of my favorite lines because there's true attitude does reflect leadership to a degree right now. Unpacked that for me though, cuz it's like you're essentially put in all the rest of that month, right? Your attitude reflects, the kind of leadership you provide, right? So he's trying to chew out Julia's for not busting his tail and helping the team when he's like nobody's busted off. Everybody's being individualistic, I'm not going to bust my tail in rev. If Ray's not going to block your doing your own thing, everybody's one-on-one, right, right. You're so they're still not this unit is still not this needed front yet so don't come at me as the captain right and so he's saying our attitude is bad and it says so before you check me for you, look at the blanket. My look at the plan to your own. Hi. Okay. Cuz it's you have the, you have the, you have the, the leadership of the example of leadership example of attitude, because you're the leader, which is why the rest of us have this crummy additive. Absolutely okay, trickle-down trickle, trickle back. And so so now, Gary Gary, realizes his girls like oh shoot you? Okay, that's kind of true..

"Right here. Come all and Ryan Gosling again, and everybody comes in, right? And they start fighting. Boom. There, she has. He warned sweats yet. Anyway. You have to hit not broken, a single Swift. And so a lot of things happen at aren't important for the sake of time here but we get to the moment one moment. That's the next big piece of the puzzle here. So at the camp, right? The practice and and what happens is that PD right? Running back, he keeps fumbling the ball and we still get a chance to see more of Denzel's character is Tom Boone. He's very aggressive. You know, he's going to verbally abuse, you kind of really classic old school coach football. Okay. Yeah. That's exactly. I grew up your chops and it's going to be like that, okay. I grew up in that era so it just kind of they kind of portrayed that with with Coach boom. Right. So that happens and then they go to the cafeteria, Lasik big boy, he wants to see what the black people song. Like yo, do your throne tables? Like do y'all all my people? And they do a great job of Lasik trying to be this underlying threat of like go. Like we just saw people make your own defense. It's this is if you were my teammates. Yeah. And so he knows a lot about sole signals, a lot about his roommate and nobody else done. So close goes like, I everybody from this day forward, you gotta talk about your teammates, all right? And if you don't, we go and do practices three times a day, we're going to do three days until everybody has met everybody on this team, right? And so everybody's like, yeah, this is the worst, right, now here's this is another caveat by this is important for the end of the story. So Ray, if you remember at the beginning, I said Gary came up with his friend, Ray, Jerry, Lewis and Dean Martin, right? Ray is Gary Smith. Okay, ray is not going to be on the right side of History. Spoiler alert really strange. Gray is a full bag of full bag is basically off. A blocker. Right. Okay, so he he he doesn't get the ball a lot. He just blocks and tries to keep the quarterback safe and keep the running back safe. Now he's not really blocking and and Gary knows. This is like I'm a strong. I'm just buying my time. This whole situation is trash right? I should have a little caveat to know for Layla. And so as we do this, we're still fighting, we're still arguing, right? And so big moment in a second, big moment of the movie, where at the camp is 3:00 in the morning, alarms are going off, right? And Coach, boom, takes everybody downstairs. Like we're gonna run, we're gonna run at 3. Am going to go for a jog. Now coach yoast here is he's been given a few breadcrumbs, he gives another breadcrumb, he's like, yo, code, boom. This is, this is kind of flirting with crazy right here, okay? Boss is just smile. He said let's go, right? He says, if you don't make it just head on back to Alexandria, we all need you, right? So they jog in the middle of the night and they end up where the Battle of birth. Hattiesburg actually happened. Okay, so I didn't say they went to Gettysburg College for Camp, right? And and so of course, you've got the dramatic music. You've got the fog, you've got the speech. You got like.

If you've never seen it, it starts out which is one of my favorite type of ways that starts out starts out right with the ending. So it's like, hey, this is a red, a funeral and you're like, oh, shoot, wait a minute know and so, Yeah, that's that is dark. They start up who dies. This is not a spoiler. I think this movie is twenty one years old. So low in your yards fairs. Yes. But if you haven't seen anybody now, you're doing yourself a disservice, but they don't tell you guys know, they don't tell you, they don't take it to the last 3 minutes of the movie. They don't care you. Then we will save it for the last 3 months past expected. So they start off with, they start off with this and we see just a small moment here, we're really kind of storms, like, Virginia football. That's the way of life, which if you grow up in a football jersey City or even a heavy football state, there's truth in that right? There's truth in there for sure, for sure. And the Braska I grew up in Wisconsin, I know things about the Green Bay Packers that there's no reason for me to, oh yeah, just through osmosis not. He's no worries. Absolutely. And and so I saw watched it this morning. I was hyper about the episode today with you and I was like, just watch it again. I got dong. Do you own a show? My mind? You understand. It's very fresh on Mama. I don't own it. I do not own it. But, but yeah, so I'm watching it. And one thing this is something, this is hit me that I did not pay attention. I've seen this movie ten times. Now I know that's not a lot to some people, but I'm not a r e Watcher, right? So I have a friend, whose wife, okay, whole series of the office, like, forty times that's not who I am, right? That's just not me, right? Right? Yeah. So, for me, for me to say, I watched movie ten times, that's a lot for me, right? But I watched it this morning Jackie, and I did not know that the movie starts, it comes on. Is this peaceful moment of the funeral 1981? It takes us back to July of nineteen. Seventy one and the six Alexandria Virginia is, is is wreaking out. Somebody has killed a black boy, who was a white store owner. It has never crossed my mind. That's how they start the movie until 2012. Now, I was like, wait, what? I ring every wound it back. I was like, that's how the movie starts. And in light of everything. Yeah, I found this out, right? Right. Because since the Advent of the iPhone camera, we're like, oh, it happens every day cuz in two thousand we had just Rodney King and that's all we had. And yeah, so, okay, so yeah. So I'm like okay, the 10th, the tensions are high, the tensions are high and it starts off a couple of background information here. I know you like your background information to give it to you so long. A 19 1971 and Alexandria. Here they are combined under. This is based on a true story. That's also important to note, right?.

The white supremacist art in the US Capitol

"Now on the sixth of january we saw terrifying scenes in washington dc as right wing rioters and conspiracy theorists incited by the president. Donald trump and other republican politicians invaded the capitol building one of the emblematic images of that day. Taken by mike tyler for reuters featured one of the reuters walking across the second floor of the capitol holding a confederate flag with chilling irony behind him on. The wall is a portrait of charles. Sumner a nineteenth century massachusetts senator. Who was an abolitionist. But it didn't need the riotous to bring white. Supremacist imagery into the capital. Eight statues of confederate leaders. Still stand in the building. So we're going to begin this episode with a special version of our regular feature work of the week and focus on confederate statues and the capital. Sarah beetham is the chair of liberal arts and assistant professor of history at the pennsylvania academy of the fine arts. she's chosen to focus on a sculpture. that was in the capital until recently but is no longer there. It would valentine's nine hundred ninety nine statue of the confederate general robert e lee which was removed from the capitol's national statuary hall on the twenty first of december twenty twenty. So just over two weeks before the riot sarah the images from the capital last week of confederate imagery inside the capitol were so deeply disturbing but that building actually has white. Supremacist imagery in it already. Doesn't it yes absolutely does You know as i was watching the all of those images going by on my on my phone on my on my computer screen You know i. I was just so upset as an american To be watching and worrying about You know our members of congress their staff in that building Seeing that symbolic space be breach on. I was thinking so much about the officers who put themselves on the line to try to take care of. And and Protect our members of congress. My heart really goes out to all officers who were injured in the two who lost their lives on. But of course i was also thinking about The capital and the spaces as an art historian as a scholar of merck and art on and one of the things that i kept coming back to you over and over again was thinking about the significance of all of the art in that collection You have In the capital you have in the rotunda. You have those enormous paintings of All of these scenes from from american history You have the Rotunda with the Freeze going around. It's that is showing all these different scenes of american history as well But then one of the major parts. That i've been thinking about for a long time as the national statuary hall collection on which is a collection of one hundred statues Two of which come from each state on that Began in eighteen. Sixty four And each state has had the ability over time to donate their own two statues to it. n's There are a couple of different criteria for getting into the statuary hall on the statues has to be either marble or bronze. So kind of the highest level of of preserved stature on the subject must be deceased. Must have been associated with that state on and must be historically noteworthy in some way on and subjects are decided on by the states and then donated to the capitol collection with very little oversight by by the capitol collection on end. What i think that maybe maybe more people know now. But i didn't know until a few years ago. Was that a number of the statues. In the capital. Statuary hall collection are actually confederates Either confederate generals The confederate president. Jefferson davis was there on the confederate vice president alexander stevens on with the one that as i was watching those images over and over and over again the kept coming into my head was the statue of robert e lee Which was donated by the state of virginia in nineteen o nine It was by edward. Valentine who was a well-known converts with a sculptor on and it actually wasn't there to be present for the riots because just been removed in december on december. Twenty first of twenty twenty on. And so you know. A lot of people talk about those images of people going by with confederate flags. But i kept thinking you know. This kind of imagery has been there. has been supporting The the capitol for very long time. We talk a bit about valentine before we go onto the specific scope to that. We're talking about because it seems to me to be really amazing. There is this sculptor who long after the deaths of these people was effectively making statues repeatedly of confederate generals. Can you explain that histories y y walls. Valentine's his creating the statues. Sure so. Valentine was a southerner on his entire family was established in richmond. Virginia on there's a museum there today. The valentine museum that includes collections related. To the whole family he came for a very wealthy family. He wasn't actually a confederate soldier because he was studying overseas to become an artist while the war was over but when he came back He saw real opportunity to get involved in confederate commemoration on and he actually produced a number of major statues That's have been in news in the past couple of months One of them is the g. Sant- of robert e lee Lying dead in state on that is at washington and lee university on in the chapel. That's kind of above where his to miss on. It's very striking sculpture for anybody. Who has even before. I recommend looking

Hidden Histories - Rosewood, Tulsa, Chicago

"Halfway between Tampa and Tallahassee, a hundred yards off state route, twenty four and ten miles from the next town stands a handsome Pale Yellow House with decorative white trim on the two story porch. The house was the only survivor of an episode of such extraordinary violence that it boggles the mind how quickly and completely it was swept under the rug. An entire community was burned to the ground in an incident of racist asymmetrical warfare. And most people have never even heard of it. My Name's Moxy and this is your brain on facts. The community had been or technically still is Rosewood, Florida. It was settled by both black and white people twenty years before the civil war, but the Jim. Crow segregation in the Post Bellum decades put a clear divide into the community. The town was incorporated in eighteen seventy after it got a post office on a train stop and was named Rosewood for the Pink Cedars that were also the base of its economy. Residents worked in lumber, yards, mills, and even a pencil factory. Until the cedars had been overharvested, and the factories began to close. Most of the white residents moved to nearby sumner. But one couple John and Mary right who ran the general store? They were kind to their neighbors, and were known to Slip Candy to the black kids who hung out at the store, possibly because their own children had died young. The white flight continued into the nineteen twenties when Rose Woods population of about two hundred was entirely black plus the rights. The little hamlet got by just fine. Until New Year's Day nineteen twenty-three. Over in Sumner, a woman named Fanny Taylor woke her neighbors, saying a black man had broken into her house and attacked her. Rather than alert sheriff, her husband immediately gathered a group of men. Including clansmen who were in the area for a rally and a tracking dog. the, dog, lead them to the railroad tracks, which led to Rosewood. The mob, which would grow to be three hundred strong got it in their head that they were looking for a black man named Jesse Hunter who had escaped from a chain gang. The dog ran through the open door of a house and back out with that of wagon tracks. When the homeowner swore that no one else had been in his house, the mob tied him to the back of a car and dragged him down a dirt road. Then they tracked down the owner of the wagon whose tracks the dog sniffed. When he also claimed ignorance and innocence, the mob mutilated and killed him. The mob came to the House of Sarah carrier the Taylor's laundries. Two dozen people most of them. Children were hiding inside having heard what was going on already driven out of their homes by fear. For whatever reason the mob was sure that carrier was hiding Jesse Hunter. They fired on the House and carrier. Sons returned fire. When it was over both Sarah and her son Sylvester carrier had been fatally shot, though Sylvester had managed to kill two of their assailants. Had, anyone bothered to talk to Sarah carrier about Fannie, Taylor. She would have been able to tell them about Taylor's lover. Her white lover who she had been with before the attack. As, the mob kicked in the front door of the carrier house, the people hiding inside fled out the back door to the relative safety of the nearby. Swampy Woods. Not. All were able to get away though. Carriers, other son James was found by the mob who reportedly made him dig his own grave before killing him. The newspapers of the nearby towns caught wind of what was happening. They ran exaggerated. Retailing's of the siege of the carrier House and blatantly false reports of roving bands of armed black citizens. Seeing that even more white men poured into Rosewood believing that a race war had broken out. Apparently it's only a race war when the race you're targeting fights back. The manhunt and terror campaign wasn't confined to that single night, but stretched on for nearly a week.

"Four and ten miles from the next town stands a handsome Pale Yellow House with decorative white trim on the two story porch. Including clansmen who were in the area for a rally and a tracking dog.

closing of of businesses businesses and and schools schools Gottlieb Gottlieb did did offer offer reassurance reassurance saying saying quote quote we'll we'll get get through through this this another another former former democratic democratic presidential presidential candidate candidate is is endorsing endorsing Joe Joe Biden Biden in a video on Twitter California senator Kamilla Harris threw her support behind the former vice president saying quote I believe in joke we need a leader who really does care about the people and who can therefore unify the people and I believe Joe can do that and with us right now was ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts Steve what a difference a week makes it did you anticipate Joe Biden picking up this mode the momentum this quickly no I have not I don't think anybody did I I think what we're what we're seeing though is a fascinating phenomena based on one word and that word is fear it's fear of Donald Trump and fear of Bernie Sanders Joe Biden has not been reborn as some useful charismatics move talking energetic candidates Joe Biden today is still the same Joe Biden that people have a lot of doubts about two weeks ago two months ago two years ago the difference is that Democrats have so desperate so frantic to find somebody who can beat Donald Trump that they decided that day either as a group and individually as voters and as candidates they'll camel Harris being an example of of having to rally around somebody and then choosing between Biden and Sanders the fear of Bernie Sanders is pulling the party too far to the left so there's a lot of energy around the Biden candidacy right now but in my view it's largely negative energy it's driven by fear it's driven by desperation there are not a lot of Democrats even this morning jumping up and down in Saint Joe Biden's gonna be a great candidate a great president but this negative energy is very powerful and that's what's driving this trend do you think it's now his to lose or is it too early to say that definitely has to lose end up and I think it's gonna be very difficult for Bernie Sanders to rebound here the one variable of course the one no wild card is by himself as I say he has not been report he's still the guy who can show astounding lapses of judgment he's still the guy who could make gaffes he's still the guy who can show his age very clearly he's still the guy who can appear fumbling and uncertain and in debates with Bernie Sanders and interviews it's still entirely possible for him to make damaging mistakes I think a lot of Democrats even if they rally around by they're holding their breath and hoping that Biden will get its act together and I've seen some signs a few signs of Byton improving on the stop I think he's shown a little bit more energy I think the campaign line about I'm the candidate of those who have been left behind it counted out is a defective and powerful line really echoes of a bill to written of nineteen ninety two the comeback kid although Biden's hardly a kid he's more the comeback teaser than the comeback kid and also this line of of of appealing to the concepts of dignity and civility and normalcy I think they provide a fairly stark contrast to the president who's in the oval office now but Biden is still Biden it was all of his flaws but at this point he's the Democrats best hope and it's gonna be very difficult for Sanders to capture Steve thanks for your thoughts again this morning ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts it's also worth noting that this morning one of the former Vertical bar centered on white vertical bar. Twice the width. The nearby walls were fifty percent gray without true vision the black and white patterned area would simply come across his does fifty percent gray. And you wouldn't expect the brittle stars to consider that part of the arena a good hiding place instead the brittle stars flock towards the pattern suggesting they have at least rudimentary rudimentary visual skills but strangely the creatures lost this ability when they turn from red debate after doing digital reconstructions of the visual system the researchers determined determined that perhaps the reddish pigments limit the angles of light reaching photoreceptors long the animals arms thus improving the resolution of the brittle stars vision and allowing them to do in their own way. S. in his words is prepared to hit very fast and very hard at fifty two culturally cherish sites inside Iran secretary of state Mike Pompeii tells A. B. C.'s this week that the American people should know that every targets that we strike will be a lawful targets present trump has been diligent about that he doesn't want war he's talked about this repeatedly he is a reluctant participant in this but he will never shy away ABC news correspondent Karen Travers is with us from the White House good morning Karen the morning the rhetoric seems to be ratcheting up yeah and the president just a couple hours after Mike Pompeii did the big rounds in the Sunday political talk shows where he said that the US will behave lawfully with in the system he says that we always have and always will a couple hours later the president contradicted that doubling down on his threat to target a running in sites that have significance to that country culturally the president said to reporters on Air Force One last night they're allowed to kill our people they're allowed to torture and maim our people and we're not allowed to touch their cultural side it doesn't work that way well it does because the president's threat could be a potential international war crime and a violation of the Geneva convention that you don't cook target sites that have kept cultural significance is there any feeling or or word that hearing at the White House that there is some push back against this attack that the U. S. staged well this certainly push back from Democrats first just because of a process here Democrats say that the it ministration did not properly brief Congress and give that advanced warning ahead of time and that they should have done that and they have to consult with Congress under the war powers act has bigger Nancy Pelosi says that the house will vote this week to limit the president's authority to take military action against Iran she called that strike last week that took out Qassem Soleimani quote provocative and disproportionate Iraq's parliament yesterday voted in favor of a resolution calling for US troops to leave the country where does that stand well it's non binding but certainly if this is added another dimension to the challenges of the administration has in the Middle East the president yesterday told reporters that the US will demand Iraq pay back the money that the US has invested in that country through the U. S. military any threatened economic sanctions if troops are forced to withdraw if this is not done in a friendly way between US and Iraq it will make a runny and sanctions looks somewhat tame I mean the U. S. has spent billions of dollars of course in or rock rebuilding there but also just for the US military presence the bases and outposts that are there the president has always said he wanted to bring troops out of Iraq this could be a way that he does it by saying they made us do it the president's just wrapping up but extended holiday vacation at his resort in Florida there are there are there any plans for him to address the nation on this nothing sixteen full days in Florida that seventeen if you count the ninety travel down there and today he has no public events here at the White House alright Karen thanks for your time is always say be sees Karen Travers with us from the White House Vermont senator Bernie Sanders holds a very narrow lead over former vice president Joe Biden in the latest poll for the New Hampshire democratic primary the CBS poll shows that Sanders leads Biden twenty seven percent to twenty five percent Elizabeth Warren is further back eighteen per said Pete booted yours is fourth at thirteen percent again in New Hampshire the new report shows the US states will need to tackle greenhouse gas emissions to be climate change the study released by the rocky mountain institute stated that the shrinkage of coal mining has decreased electric power sector emissions but natural gas and other fossil fuel emissions have remained the same the institute hopes to see greenhouse gas emissions reduced by eighty percent by the year twenty fifty a South Carolina police officer has become the first U.
