Speaking SASE's Language

"Sassy basics gartner coined the term. Sassy in the twenty nineteen hype cycle cloud security report deemed the future of network insecurity functions at the time sassy was just an emerging technology and there was barely a sassy product on the market. Uh sassy as defined by gartner quote combines network security functions with wayne capabilities to support. The dynamic secure access needs of organizations. These capabilities are delivered primarily as a service in based upon the identity of the entity. Real time context insecurity slash compliance policies. So essentially sassy is a new package of technologies including sdn secure web gateways cloud access security brokers zero trust network access and firewall as a service at abilities with the ability to identify sensitive data or malware and the ability to decrypt content at line speed with continuous monitoring of sessions for risk and trust levels and quote despite being new to the industry by summer. Twenty twenty multiple offerings were on the market and thanks to the flexible definition of sassy more on that later the offerings varied widely the shift. To sassy was here in cannot have come at a more urgent time. The covid nineteen pandemic and shift to remote work highlighted the need for infrastructure that supports flexible work options with secure remote access in. Sassy does just that sassy enabled enterprises to deliver secure networking insecurity more generally in a consistent way in a remote environment. But of course sassy is more complex than that says. He is a network architecture that merges wham capabilities with cloud native security functions these functions are provided as a service by sassy vendors though one emerging technology. Sassy isn't necessarily a new technology at all instead. It is a convergence of existing network. Insecurity technologies built around a single pass architecture. This allows for an efficient network that has the ability to inspect traffic. While in transit as the name suggests celsius two core components one the secure access to the service edge. The service edge refers to the edge principle functions are optimized by moving access and competing resources closer to individual users through the use of wide area networking or when the typically delivered through pops or points of presence close to the end points. Pops may be owned by vendors public clouds or a third party secure access refers to the use of cloud native security functions therefore security functions commonly used in sassy these are secure web gateways or s. Wg's cloud access security broker or caspi zero trust network access or z. Tna and firewall as a service or f. w. a. s. Let's dive a little deeper. Into each of these functions a secure web gateway prevents data breaches and cyber attacks by protecting data in enforcing security policies. They filter out unsafe content from network traffic and can block unauthorized user behavior. They can be deployed from anywhere. Making them a great option. For remote workforce's cloud access security broker platforms used various security functions from cloud hosted services is not a single technology instead. Many technologies fall under the caspi umbrella. Technologies under caspi include shadow. It discovery data loss prevention access control and others. Zero trust network access is a security model that has strict real time identification requirements for every individual trying to access resources within a private network whether they are in or outside the network permettre several different principles and technologies are used for zero trust architecture and finally firewalls a service this refers to firewalls delivered from the cloud. As you guessed it a service cloud firewalls block. Cyber attacks directed at cloud assets who various security capabilities like url filtering intrusion prevention and uniform policy management is creates a virtual barrier around cloud platforms infrastructures in applications with these functions at its core. Sassy can identify maur or sensitive data and decrypt content while continuously monitoring the session and assessing trust levels. All in real time since sassy in many cases utilizes sdn it is important to make the distinction between the two clear. Sdn's primary responsibility is to connect geographically distant offices and headquarters to each other. Security tools are usually located at offices in customer premises equipment and not an individual devices. Sassy on the other hand. Folks on connecting individual points efficiently and securely with an emphasis on the cloud as neal mcdonald distinguished. Vp analyst at gartner said in an interview with sgx central quote. The heavy lifting of sassy is performed in the cloud and quote part of the reason. Why the line between sassy. Sdn win gets muddled is because of inconsistencies within the industry has mentioned at the top of the episode sassy defined by gartner is quote a new package of technologies including st win s. Wg caz be z. Tna and firewalls service as core capabilities with the ability to identify sensitive data or malware and the ability to decrypt content at line speed with continuous monitoring of sessions for risk and trust levels and quote

JRPG Report Episode 144 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Black First Details - burst 02

"Hello friends welcome back to the show. This is the g. rpg. Report episode one hundred and forty five little bit weird this week and we knew it was going to be with christmas eve falling on our normal release date and of course christmas the next day and there must situation My little girl's birthday being the day after christmas so yeah we get a bang bang. Bang three a craziness there. Obviously just mitt that there was really no time to reporter Record a podcast. Even before christmas was just too hectic so We're recording this on saturday. The twenty seventh just a couple days left in twenty twenty. Goodbye rents But we've got a lot of cool things to talk about today. I kinda wanna wrap up all the stuff that we've missed as it's been nine days since our last pockets. No i'm sorry that's not even right. That is fuzzy. Math is been eleven days since our last podcast. So we've got a few things to go over That have popped off. Since then. And i wanna kinda look look forward to sometime this week. Mean jordan are going to get together and kind of talk about What games we really loud from. Twenty twenty maybe even discussed some Game of the year options and then look forward to twenty twenty one as Right off the bat. We got a bunch of games coming out in the beginning of the first the new year. We got to tell you rods two. You've got bravely default to you've got he's nine And the newly Confirmed for some of five strikers. Just a name The the big big ones I'm sure there'll be others. That will be unfortunately lost in the in the way. So we're going to record that sometime this week and In lieu of any news breaking. I may just make that part of the normal podcast unsure on that. But let's get into it. I hope you guys had a wonderful christmas holiday I didn't have any games that i particularly wanted that. We're already out. So i just kind of asked Asked the parents for Email confirmation that beginning Today risa to when it comes out on january twenty six that was cool and i did end up much too. Many of your delight. Hopefully i'm finally going to take a dive into these series. I picked up. Yee's eight for only twenty dollars on the ps story. I could not refuse as the physical version just refuses to ever go down in price so i figured this was by far the best opportunity. Get in on. What many consider to be a very very good. Jr pg and at some point. I'll be playing. It don't really know when that's going to be but that's enough rambling We did have fell. Calm day Twenty twenty winter addition and we got a few tidbits of information about the new legend of heroes. Toddle kiro no koseki if you notice the thumbnail for this Podcast are the two newest main characters is a third as well but these They dig use some high-rise resolution images of the to unsure why the third one was kind of like ashaari pow We'll get you later but still no names for these two characters but we do have a bit of information stuff. You see that image. There's a couple other on our facebook and twitter feed of those two characters while they are. I say have that trails feel to them. I do kind of agree with what president condo said last time that at mediate Glance they don't appear to be trails characters. And i believe that lies in the fact that they are from calvert So they're going to look a little bit different and we'll talk about that in just a little bit. These illustrations were drawn by katsumi. Nama and the other characters are from alcom. Like i said the character's names were not announced to this game is coming out sometime in twenty twenty one in japan so those were the images. There were some other ones as well. If you'd like to see all those. I did put up a slide show video on our youtube channel. So you can check those out if you don't feel like clicking through pictures of via the website here is what we do know and i will just read this to you as this is the about for the new age of heroes karoo new koseki beyond the blue sky ahead of flashing light a land. A dawning resides cuba. There's no spoilers going on in here. This is all preliminary stuff in the news story arc. So we don't have to worry about that type of stuff the ladder this latter half of the trails. There is about to begin. The setting moved to the calvert republic in two thousand and twenty one foul calm release. Legend heroes kernigan the latest entering the trail serious as its fortieth anniversary rumors of work. The calvert nation is a multi ethnic nation experiencing unprecedented economic growth. Brought about by post war reparations. In a corner of the capital of a huge nation were immigration issues bringing about political instability. Okay well maybe. There are some spoilers in here okay. let's just get to the best. I'm sorry i read that. And i didn't think about it until just now okay. The command style action time bow system. You didn't previous trails. Titles has been revamped and that's going to set up an from a couple people. Let's just see what they said. Seamlessly transitioned from action oriented field battles to turn based commands battle to turn based command battle systems while making use of the unique elements the sixth generation combat or meant would try to pronounce his last time. I'm not sure how it is x. I f. r. x. i. p. h. a. z. Feel in a ballots to evolve from the previous trails titles. Okay so what does that mean. I don't. I don't know i really don't know how to had say seamlessly transition from action oriented field battles to turn based command battle systems I i mean obviously there's a bit of an extra element when you strike the enemies on the field in order to go into the turn based battle i. I need to see this in action to really know what they're even beginning to talk about would just have to wait and see You will feature many elements you laws. It's setting including a topics system which enabled together until such topics by communicating with. Mpc's out towns tra- gate situations in your favor when you act as a spray gun and that is the The character it's basically a detective. But they're calling them spring and alignment flame system. In which characters three alignments great and chaotic fluctuate depending on your own style influencing various status allies and adversaries and even scenario developments please look forward to allege heroes lowest entrance toasters depicted enrich expression by thumbs new original ingen. So that's that's pretty cool Here's what how they set up the situation and I get. I don't wanna get too much into this. The to emit the two people that you see in the image the one is the one call the speaker those are they say sometimes detective somedays negotiators and other days as bounty hunters. They're up for any job from any client. That's pretty cool And then the other one is Say to be a school girl wearing uniform. Prestigious school visits a rundown building located in old town in cowards capital. So that's the setting that's beginning of it. You can check out those images. Like i said there's a third character in the images as well with the two swords on his back and some long hair but we don't have any details. There is a battle scene that shows what looks like to be a craft or an art powering up but that from that snippet it does look to be turn based. So don't i'm so confused as to what to make. But i'm certainly excited about this one. But the lack of details and the promise of something new is leading to some question marks popping up. And i don't necessarily love that idea but it is what it is and until we learn a little bit more. It's just going to be speculation Unfortunately though that wasn't the only bit of information. And i'm sure we'll have a bunch more but Foul calm day twenty twenty winter. Also let us know about and this is not really affecting us as much. But they did. Say that a hatch marco koseki which is the one before this one and after cold steel four Clouded leopard entertainment will release a switch. Pc esteemed version of the game Sometime in summer. Twenty twenty one in japan in asia. I'm nearly positive. That's the same company that handled The transition for coastal three and four to the top of my head. So i came out for. Ps four in japan on august twenty seventh. So you know nearly a year later. They're talking summer to get that Switch pc version now. It handles the asian side of this and i s america handles the translation available. At least they have for the past two games In the cold still series in the west still no confirmation that that translation is ongoing. That have to assume that it is unless it's being handled by other parties I mean exceed did do the first two trills of cold steel games but at imagine that they are going to do this hedge amari as well and as soon as i hear something about that it will happen. It's certainly a good thing that this is happening and It could lead to a speedier at least for these games in the west. But like i said still no information on unfortunately. The last thing that they talked about was not briefly. Mentioned this last time the natto. noca- seki game. That is coming out in japan for For playstation four. This was the old Two thousand twelve least. Psp action rpg though some new details and images kinda showing the ps p version versus the Ps four version of it They're sent opposites gonna run at sixty frames per second on. Ps four with more vibrant graphics. Not being obviously these are things that you'd want to have updated from an old old system user interface options One thing that i thought was very interesting. And i'm not to say what they say. This game is not connected to the trails game. However the main character's name is now utah herschel now you trails players especially cold. Steel will know towa. Her last name is hershal So what they're they say there's no connection but then there's a connection is the protagonist and a boy from that island who attends and academy in saint elise. Those aren't you know aren't names that i recognized the from the trails series so it is very very interesting and i would be would like to know what that connection is at kind of read through it. You can read through the tales. Like i said before i am lower on the percentage scale To say of this game was actually going to make it over here or not. I if i if you say your day is gonna come today out outs. Action say no but would just have to wait and see. The original game did not look super impressive. So this isn't a game that i'm all that excited about to begin with but we'll have to. We'll just have to wait and see if that indeed happens for a lot of switch owners the next. Gop g they will more than likely be picking up is going to be bravely default to gain closer and closer to that february twenty. Sixth rolled wide release date friend square annex released new trailer for it albeit in japanese and have still not seen an english version of this yet so it talks all well. Supposedly it talks about wiz walt. The country established by those mejia's. They did it themselves to studies. The magic research institute But the the real kicker with this one and you can see it. Is this places overgrown. It looks like it was built kind of in the middle of it are on top of a giant tree. And there's just this tree just going right up through entire town is really cool again Trailer is how long was trailer of about three and a half minutes. Like i said in japanese so you can't really tell what's going on but it is kind of cool to see some of the visuals in action Four it but if you're elected shake those game out for yourself you can check out the demo for it It is now live on the east shop and One who feels the demo before its release will even pick up one hundred mine. Intendo platinum points here is the Short official description of the demo experienced the games at risk and reward system character strategy and stunning visuals in the latest braley default to final demo in this demo. The games four men characters are already other journey with jobson abilities at their disposal. I downloaded this. The other night. as if getting the switch away from my kid was hard enough with minecraft previously The kid did pretty good for Christmas and her birthday. And i now had to contend with her own copy of animal crossing so she and my wife can play two switches and who copies of animal crossing so they can will each other's islands. I know she also got the Spyro trilogy which. I really enjoyed those games growing up. So i can't wait to play those with her and relive those moments and she picked up mario maker to so. I'm not seeing that switch for a while. Maybe once she goes to sleep. If i don't have anything to play eck fired that demo. I would like to see how it is shaping up as will If you've got some free time and you're looking for d'you monster hunter rise. There are to say ten videos in total. Let's do a little no here. One two three four seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. There's twelve total. So i check. They were they were released in two packs. I take them all and made them into six long. Because it only about a minute minute long. So if you're one to check out some of the different weapons they go into monster hunter rise. You can do that going from Things like the switch axe gun lance hammer sorted shield heavy light bogue gun. Land is long swords and even the hunting horn. You check all those out over on our youtube channel. J rpg report dot com. You can also see a new second official trailer for the action. Rpg magnum lord Still no western released on this one yet. It is coming out in japan on march. The eighteenth for playstation four and switch said. This is the second trailer for the game. It looks pretty cool. I do hope that they bring this one. Over is from publisher. D three Developer felicia quite heard of them before. But still no word on it. I really hope they bring this over because it does pretty fun but yeah nothing Nothing quite yet. i'll go over some of these ones. That are just videos. There's a fifteen minutes of new footage from christ tales. This is previewing the present and future game play of it Remember this game got pushed back to early. Twenty twenty one. That's just the winner that don't into it's been Hit with a couple delays here lately. Not sure how much. Everything's pandemic related at this point but how much they just wanna fine tune things in. How much is really needed to make this work. Obviously you're doing with a system of past present and future while stuff can go wrong and working Just the way that you would like it to work New genesis the fantasy star online. To almost say reboot but definitely the new version of there is the opening movie for it and you should probably check this out. If we're looking at over fifty minutes of new footage as well mostly the character creation for its but this opening movie You know typically when you see these opening movies. They're using a pre rendered scenes. This was actually created using parts of the in game graphics. Engine which looks amazing Definitely if you're looking forward to this you should check it out sometime in twenty twenty. One is the release date Four it but again. This is one of those. Well not one of those but this is the faa gain. That i'm kind of just don't understand why it's not on playstation four. In the west it is in japan. But you've got to either play on xbox or on pc here in the west doesn't make a ton of sense but there's just things like that in this world that we gotta kinda get used to them. I guess we got three bits of sky news this week. i is. You can check out the fourth official trailer for six defiance of destiny I believe there's an english. There's an english version for this out. Now you can check it out. There was originally came out. There was just a japanese version but the english version shows off of really cool voices that they've got for the game. They got some good voice. Talent in this one in Very fitting for the series especially the little reincarnated pug services is awesome It's about seven or review of the game If you are curious about what's going on in this one changes that they've made this series. You will definitely want to check it out. Of course it doesn't come out in the west until summer. Twenty twenty one. Japan is going to get it in right about a month on january. The twenty eighth The other day actually. This was on christmas eve that this news broke New punchy released some new information screenshots for the game featuring and i hope i get these names right la haro aetna and flown Those were the original characters from the original the sky and they are saying that Basically once you beat the game you can Play a scenario with these original characters in it so kind of a you know. They're not in the main game this something post post content but the fact that they're in their would open the door to other characters popping up from other games as well. So that's a cool thing The world inside of an item. I m worlds have mended. Detailed in this article on worlds are divided into several fours slash layers and the items level increases with every four. That you clear says weapons become stronger as they level up. You can clear there either. Worlds to power them up once. An item is leveled up. You can get the same item at the same level from then on pretty cool feature of the sky series all these images i took input into a slide show. You can check that out on our youtube channel so you can dispatch companions into item worlds to research them. There's a new team attack system with up to ten characters in it. That's a pretty cool feature. New enemies were detailed There's a new horsemen. That's pretty crazy. So here's the Previous protagonist Oh here we go says not only will hear from. Our doctors appear the protagonist in heroines of the sky. Two three four and five will also appear in three d. The protagonist and heroines wilburs as downloadable content sometime after the launch of disguise six. So there's a from the sky to or i don't know in timika these pronunciations. I'm at risk of offending people. I understand how they're supposed to be pronounced So yeah they're gonna add them in there as as post content deal see. That's the type of thing. Like i would think you'd be okay with paying for because that's obviously not a part of disguise six. They are previous games characters in new content. So take how you feel about. Dlc that is that's one thing i think is is no k To do speaking of all those previous disguised characters they are all assembled in the rpg. Mobile game And we got news from bolt chain games that they will release worldwide the mobile version the sky arc in spring. Twenty twenty one Unless you're in these countries in the no fast if you are but we are a western primarily focused podcasts. So you're not going to get in china taiwan hong kong macau singapore malaysia or korea Sorry don't i don't know why maybe that is. Just it's gonna come out later. Maybe there's some rules preventing that From happening if we're interested in getting it on a closed beta for the game. They will have one for canada. Brazil australia and the philippines sometime in january so really happy to see this thing go worldwide. There was a global announced trailer for it This came back It came back in march of twenty nineteen in japan. Had a whole bunch of issues with it and It was de definitely the this game was deadly responsible for some financial hardships for nippon ichi. And they finally got up. Right obviously gotta writes the point. Now they're really to bring this thing out worldwide As far as the gotcha game or not. I don't know if i recall. I think it was paid game. But i should probably ended up before speaking about it. But i'm sure there's elements in there but hopefully this is a Not another one of those kind of like. We've we've like. We've got enough of those already know ankara today. So in place of it you get one last plea for listener support We've had a few people signed up for but really not a whole lot of response so I kind of said you guys. I would do this to the year. See what we got and move forward I would love to have listener support. Not have the need for ads but it is just a reality of life and we may just see what that happens. If i get a bunch outpouring of support here after listening to this. I may reconsider. But at this point at least in the a few few adds to offset the cost of Of the time spent during the podcast hope to understand and hope you are okay with that excited much. Rather have just you guys Do that and not have to worry about. It would wait and see so you. Click on the link right below this episode. Either through anchor. John daly greatly. Appreciate it. And i don't have the read ads. You don't have to listen to him. That just seems like it'd be the the best thing for both of them If you're looking forward to to see how to say these things seal thurs. Dx and the They were supposed to come on japan on february twenty eighth. they have been delayed until march fourth. Twenty twenty one in japan. So if and when a western. What's going to happen for that. it's now going to be About five weeks later. There's my heart says one thing amonte says another and there's different things to have to consider overall ought to make that final decision here real soon on what that What was looking forward to our thoughts here are coming out this week on. Kyle duncan beckett. Mustang Mach-E First Drive Review - Ford's All-New New Electric Crossover

"The car driving today is unique for four if their ever history fully electric battery electric vehicle designed from the ground up to be electric unlike some other early eighties like the nissan leaf. You know where. They decided to go for efficiency. Make it as a compact car for decided to go for the heart of the market. They what they really did was. They learned from tesla looked at. You know what tesla was doing. And how tesla was succeeding. That was making cars. Were cool looking. At cool technology had good performance And offer great range and ford decided to start with a compact midsize. upper compact. You know mid size crossover market is today. That's what people wanna buy It's getting close to suv's and crossovers are about forty percent of the us car market now and so the originally conceived this vehicle announced early twenty seventeen as a more conventional tross over. It was basically you know it was going to be front wheel drive. More something like Electric version of the escape Which is very popular compact. Crossover for four but late. Two thousand seventeen. They decided to completely change direction. They realized that that was not a car that was going to get people excited to buy an ev from ford. And so what they did instead was. They said okay. What's our what's our icon. What what is the vehicle that really gets people excited and within ford. The mustang is considered the heart and soul of the brand. It's by no means the best selling car but is the car they build that is representative of so many things for fun to drive. You know the racing history. Ford ford's racing. History goes back to before there was a ford motor company. Henry ford won the money that he used to start ford motor company by winning a race winning the vanderbilt cup and so the The they decided to use mustang as the inspiration for this car and and the end You know what they came up with was a crossover that has mustang design cues but they also knew that if they were gonna put the mustang badge on it that they needed to make it something that would fail. Drive a mustang. It's obviously a car. That's much taller than a traditional mustang. But because it's electric. That has the battery in the floor underneath the floor. That's still gives it a relatively low center of gravity. And they put a lot of the people who've worked on mustang over the years on this program and to try to infuse it with as much mustang dna performance dna and And they territory an attitude as they could and so they came up with something that has echoes of mustang but is also very practical car. For the first time ever you know traditionally mustangs the backseat and the mustang is not a place where you where you wanna be if you're an adult. It's fine for kids but know it's always been a two plus two this is a real five-seater got four doors. Got a hatchback big big cargo area in the back. And it's something that can be used as a family car but it also has a lot of that mustang. feel but it's also extremely modern. So you got things like the fifteen and a half inch touchscreen display in the center here with their sink for a system on it. They designed a completely new user interface for this car and this is going to be spreading out to two other vehicles as well. Unlike tesla Four as ford decided that you're not going to have everything in this touchscreen interface here They did retain a an instrument. Cluster display up in the front here directly in of the driver. Which i think is where it belongs. Yes that gives you information like your speed. Your driver systems systems like dab cruise control and lane keeping assist your range information. All that is right in front of you in the in the user interface here it's designed to be basically three areas three zones of this. You have the main zone up top here which is whatever the current application that you're using right now. It's navigation for dr route but You've also got these cards down here in this lower in this middle section here which represent the other applications that you've used most recently so if you go to things like you know right now there's an iphone connected to this which is being used as the phone is a key system and that brought up the the apple carplay interface and you can see that when it carplay interface came up navigation. Went down here into the most recently used slot in the in the cart section. So i can quickly get back to toggle back and forth. I can go to the ford pass out for charging. If i want to go to tap that and you see the Carplay and the navigation ford passer still down here instantly accessible so the system learns based on your behavioral based on what you're doing and so i'm going to go back here was also At the top here have Your your picture. You can have profiles from multiple drivers in here. Each driver can have Is tied to their own kifah program it to the fourth pass app on your phone use. Use the phone as your key with bluetooth belly when you tap on that it shows you all the apps that are available to the nice thing that they've done with his user interfaces. They've kept everything close to the surface close to the top so you're not drilling down through multiple layers of display multiple layers of interface. To get to the things that you want to use. It's all up close so right now. there's three three drive modes that are available right now in whisper mode which is the most economical mode the quietest mode the engage mode is the default mode. That's kind of a nice balance between the better better efficiency but also more performance and then unbridled is the the most performance oriented mode and what changes in between each of those modes. Is you get changes in the searing. Feel the amount of steering effort and you know for an suv. This thing has excellent steering response during feel to changing the drive modes also changes the accelerator pedal response so in whisper mode. It gives you a little bit slower response when you tip into the accelerator pedal A little smoother. Calmer more comfortable feel to it But then when you go through engage and finally to unbridled each time it gets a little more aggressive both with the the tip in response so that you know when you when you hit the accelerator pedal. It'll respond quicker jump off line faster in unbridled than it does in either engage or whisper but it also does the same in reverse for regenerative braking so in whisper mode you get more aggressive region or rather than Br bridled mode. You get more aggressive regenerative braking than you do in whisper mode or engage mode and you also have the option here separately for one pedal driving And you can set that and it'll stay remember what your settings were So it always goes back to whatever your last settings were so one pedal driving is great especially if your stop and go traffic in city traffic or On a on a on a highway even in stop and go traffic jam because it will bring the car to a complete stop when you lift off the accelerator. So i have not touched the brakes and the car coming to a complete stop here and then accelerating nice. Quick celebration puts you back seat. It's not as fast right now. As the tesla performance moats. But this also isn't the highest performance version. That's that's gonna be the. Gt the machi. Gt comes out in the summer. Twenty twenty one will be the version that goes up against the likes of tesla model y performance with it's insane mode the gt's going to accelerate zero to sixty in the in the mid three second range. Which will put it comparable to the shelby. Gt five hundred. Which has the giant supercharged v. Eight engine when i drove the machi earlier this afternoon on the auto cross course that one we drove was The rear wheel drive version. And what was interesting about it. Was you know they. They really tuned the suspension field. To give it more of that mustang. Feel so we get some off throttle oversteer. Can you can control the attitude of the car really well with the accelerator pedal the ride quality and this despite the performance capability is actually quite good. It's very comfortable but it's still got really good body control one other aspect does change when you change the drive. Moans is the sound there's the unbridled gives you a little bit more aggressive sound to engage. It's a little bit more toned down and whispered as you would expect. it's very quiet

"summer twenty twenty" Discussed on The Free Agents

"But i can get something better over here so he can take his time to go into the season. It doesn't seem like drew holiday is wanting to leave. Maybe he would be okay with a trade but you could go into the season. See how he looks playing alongside brandon ingram and zion for an actual nba season. Maybe make a run the play offs or maybe not maybe offers get a little bit better whenever the trade deadline comes around. Who knows when that's going to be this coming season. But there's no rush. And i mean if the biggest names you're looking at our will barton gary harris maybe mp pj kerris avert. Perhaps it's better to wait a little bit and just start extracting some pics and really go for a youth movement who knows david griffin has some options. Because it's also going to be. Every single team in the nba is trying to win this year. Because you don't want to be the team that is tanking when there are no fans in the stands. Why would anybody ever watch your team. You're not trying to win games. So all these teams are going to be trying to win getting drew holiday. We'll help a lot of teams win. There's a lot of options out there. david griffin. He's going to be busy busy busy busy all right next one here. Guess gordon hayward he's thirty four million dollars next season if he opts into the final season our final year of his contract with the celtics but there are reports that he may test the free agent waters here instead. Ryen russillo on the bill simmons. Podcasts said quote. i've heard hayward does want out. But i don't know if he's going to get the money he's not opting out of that large number unless he knows he's getting the deal and quote silla there. My question will slash. Should gordon hayward opt out lee. What do you think this is a really fascinating situation. Because we kind of talked a little bit about the other day. He's a very good player but he carries a little bit of an injury firm history. We already know the ankle and then down in the bubble. They're missing tom. he's a very good player. but what is he's value. and where. Which team would he be. Best suited for now. What did far up the trade machine last night. I know he can opt and become a free agent. But i really just wanted to see which teams have cap space right because i think if he does opt out. If someone says we'll give you four years one hundred million twenty five million. I think he takes if he can get that. So so which team has got that sort of space. Now the hawks through the knicks the pistons the kings. Apparently according to what. I'm saying here to do as well. I'm not quite sure if that's accurate. But so there are a few teams that have it. But what do you want to go to one of those teams. It's nowhere near competing for a champion. Because he he's obviously at the stage of his career where he needs to compete if he wants to win a championship and simply not going to happen on one of those teams in the next two or three seasons so i ultimately think he obscene and stays in boston because that's his best chance at winning a championship. Were closing the bubble. And i think they'll be close again next season if they keep their core together. But i don't see a long term future in boston simply because jaylen brown jason. Tatum are getting paid their contracts and cameras as well and i just don't think danny ainge is going to want to invest this time next year. Or whenever you know whenever next. Year is a big term contracting to gordon hayward as well so i think he stays one more season in boston and test free agency next year when again. He's he's charlie for free now because he can opt out of course but i think next year when things change and maybe another team that is closer to competing one of those things i mentioned earlier knicks pistons etc perhaps as some availability some cats spice next season. So i think that's where he's probably ultimately going to stay one. More year in boston wallets his choice and then reevaluate next season. Yeah i mean the celtics you said it there kemba walker huge contract. I mean he's still thirty. Four million dollar. Plus i think for three seasons jaylen brown big extension that kicks in now starting at twenty one million dollars which actually pretty good. Jason tatum coming up here you. He's going to be max so yeah he will not be there. I think for the long haul. But it's whether or not he looks at this really weird year where you're going to be getting a fraction of really your salary right because of money being held back does he go okay. Well i'll take you know. I would be getting similarly less of this thirty four million dollar contract for one year or do i sign like you said like four hundred. I don't think that's in play. But three seventy you know. I saw low kicking around something like that. Do i just take the long term money. And then maybe made more on it when we get back to normal. So i'm torn on this one trade. You have an opinion on really what gordon hayward and his team should do. Yeah i've gotten opinion if somebody's gonna pay thirty four million dollars you take it. And then you worry about the money on the other side as well. Because gordon hayward yeah he got hurt but he actually had a good season seventeen and a half points. A game seven rebounds four assists. He shot fifty percent from the field. Thirty eight percent from three. Somebody's still gonna give him a contract after next season. No doubt about it. Maybe not one hundred million dollars. But i would imagine Summer twenty twenty twenty on this is weird to think of. The name of the season is twenty. Twenty twenty twenty one. Mike goodness this is blowing my mind. I've been thinking about numbers for like ninety six.

Announcements from Nintendo Direct Mini

"Billed as the last partner showcase of the year Nintendo, dropped some news on us today from studios both big and indie feared the Nintendo direct mini. Oh my God how Partner showcase here's the rundown I up bravely default to after getting roughly four minute run down some of the game's mechanics. Nintendo drop the news of the game finally has released eight, and that is get your pencils out February, twenty, six, twenty, twenty, one. Quote quote later today so I imagine it is already out on the Internet, you'll get a full video rundown of some of the fan requested changes based on the demo. Also story of season nears. All of town is due on March Twenty three Rd twenty, twenty one. There's also video that you could go look up. Surviving the aftermath has a spring twenty, twenty, one window on switch immortals. Phoenix rising also coming to switch December third nintendo reminded us that a way forward backward gun game is November third. The card based griff lands switch addition has a summer twenty, twenty, one window for switch. Tropico six is arriving on the switch November sixth of this year. And then we're also getting cloud versions, which I don't know what that means of Hitman three do in twenty, twenty, one and control ultimate edition which is out. The day that this thing without thirty up, you can go get it Let's see no more heroes to out today. Again in the past, it's already allocated while no more heroes three still coming twenty, twenty, one part time you have a from Hal, laboratory is also out to you can grab that and then there's going to be high rules Jairo Warriors Age. Of Calamity Demo that again already exists you can go grab all this stuff right now how exciting that this is exciting intendo things. Away. We're going to draw the question which actually was basically my question for Mr Yasmine from our community says I was wondering to hear your thoughts on control being cloud. Being, probably, a cloud version for the switch and you see this being a success, I don't intend to will be able to pull it off especially how they handle their online. So so the cloud stuff was only Japan. Until this announcement. So for example, Games like resident evil seven assassins, creed Odyssey, there's fantasy star online to the only way. You could play these games in Japan was through the cloud because if you look at the size of these games antennas, internal storage is only like what thirty two gigs so I. Can't do it right and plus like these games are just to the switch. So yeah, in Japan, what they've been doing is they've had this little cloud streaming service. So for the first time, it's being brought over here and for obviously the games that you just mentioned. And from what I've read that I, it sounds like it works like okay like it works it just depends again, like your Internet and obviously like you know you can't really travel with it because if you do then you have to switch hotspots depending on like if you're on the bus or you're on the subway or maybe at a restaurant and that usually causes you to get kicked out. So anyway, that's what that's all about. Whether or not it'll be successful I think with anything that's all based in streaming base. It's just to depend on where you're at and what your resources available are. But yeah. I know. But at least they're trying like good for you.

Sealing your floor. The Hell Up, and then all of a sudden you're just as somebody in your living room dancing around. You know and you're like Oh. Gosh. What am I doing? There's one. I got to stop this. Before you hopped on, that's what I was talking to about the with producers my. My girlfriend has like a normal. She works in publishing she like works in and so she's on meetings all day but they're like you know business meetings, but then I will be like within earshot. Doing whatever it is podcasting like fully show there's like taiga like nobody actually wants to hear a full hour of stand up by accident led by. Choice that's that's. That's not I. Know it's not. There's this thing in standard called hijack shows, which is essentially where you're performing in the middle of a bar and. Bar Patrons don't know there's GonNa be a show. It's like everybody's having time, and then suddenly a stand up show starts. or it's always terrible for everyone and that's what all of twenty twenty feels like is like. From within my own home. Yeah Well I also would say I mean. For you, there's also a different amount of effort going on in terms of crap. Before show which I would imagine maybe it's harder to feel like. One would want to do if you're just GONNA be like in your own living room. but maybe that's not true. Sir I mean there is a certain amount of prep that I mean there's A. Specific. Amount of that has to take place. I don't WanNa make it's not like the easy. Especially now that sort of the the. The pressure and the owners of being the technical person director the you know all that stuff is on our shoulders whereas before I was in a position. I I should preface it by saying I believe that drag entertainers are some of the true renaissance people because many of us, not all of us but many dragon retainers do their own, their own makeup, their own music editing, their own on PR, their own you know own costumes make our costumes. You know they have bring our fashion background into it. They have to figure out how to be a standup comic, and then if they're doing impersonations, they have to beat do character study like all of these technical things go into and so that's that's enough and now I'm the it tack you know Never Forget this summer. And I now not running and I'm so sorry, this was not the attitude that carried into our. Conversation today but a month ago I was sitting down for a very important conversation with a bunch of other folks and we were having this conversation about a black transnet and everything, and then my internet. Stop stopped and gave out which was in the next all the way, the other entity apartment and I'm like, Oh, my gosh, I, have to get into I have to go Switzer Internet and get back into this conversation. So I ran from one of the apartment all the way to the other and did you don't you know because I had already done a show I think the night before something and I did a full slide down the hall on a Silk Cape? CAPE. Not. Robe. Not. Pillowcase Cape. Down the hall and I fell and I tore my meniscus apparently own no. The doctor after having the MRI. A few weeks later

Breaking Down Valve's Response to DPC

"So I wasn't sure how to approach US exactly but this may seem a little weird. We're going to read off the entire post that vowed made. We're going to split it up so that people don't get sick on my voice, of course. It's essentially read it in your normal voice or you're going to read it in your dramatic voice because if you read it a new dramatic voice, people get sick of it after one minute I what I was not planning on doing anything in my normal voice. But now that you brought it up, it would annoy people it makes me want to do it more now but regardless how you are. Valve has responded Holy Shit in valve has finally responded. To the community regarding the season that is to come. We've kind of split up between that and the Doda TV slash streaming. News. So let let's talk about the first thing which is the DPC's. So again, it's going to be a bit of a along read. We've heard a lot of the complaints re recently about the state of the DP and we agree that there's more that we should do. We want it to use this blog to walk you through what happened before what our thoughts were and what we will do going forward. Spring Twenty twenty. Once the extent of the covid nineteen pandemic became clear. We posted our plans to delay the international started pre-booking arenas for various alternative dates and countries around the world. We then began researching how to execute the international based on how different, how the different pandemic scenarios could play with the hope that we'd be able to host it as soon as possible since the spring DPC events could no longer operate anymore we started reaching out to the organizers to see what they wanted to do going forward. Some of these organizers shared their desires to run third party events to cover the period march through the end of summer. Summer Twenty twenty twenty one split this up between you and You keep going. I'll do the summer twenty, twenty, do the rest. Sorry Twenty twenty as we approached the middle of the summer, the volatility of the pandemic had grown significantly. We became very concerned about the impact it would have on future deep-sea events and the International. The global situation meant that cross regional play would be unlikely for a period of time and we have since seen scenarios globally and other competitions where teams from certain countries had to be excluded after qualifying do abrupt travel restrictions and complications. Americans can't go anywhere syndrome unless it's Ukraine Hanley while we had that was not part of the quote just to let you guys. Inter and you're. Not The competent then I would love under sprinkle in a little couple things like that just to spice it up you know but anyway. While we had already assumed that having a cry for the events was not in the cars we wanted to at least have confidence able to bring all teams together across region competition. We felt that was a very important component of how we allocate DC points for the International. We were also unsure of when the international itself would happen and given the significant lead time needed. The increase spread and the virus made harder to model out a timeframe with confidence. The potential of the season as narrative feeling to detach from the path towards the international was negative for us doing that would also necessitate a DP point decay system, which in and of itself isn't a bad thing but having to abruptly introduced decay midseason if the landscape changes has some additional downsides. Furthermore, we had also received some feedback from a couple of or that were either worried about the quality of the broadcast being lower or reluctant to want to operate GPC events in the fall altogether while neither the Cross region competition nor the relative distance to the international or absolute requirements. We felt the DPC as both the function of the international, and also as a coherent product for fans would be better served by holding off on them for. Now given that our plan was that we'd make the upcoming months open and clear for other leagues and Events to operate. Our approach historically has been to want third party tournus be able to exist outside of the international though the degree of that has been fluid over the years demands from fans and players for more structured circuits to lead to increased. Our hope was that we could both achieve a better and more coherent relationship between DC and TI. By approaching it this way as well as still along for third party events to have an impact with the overall Anders Zolt for fans still being that, there would be entertaining content to watch. In the fall. I'll give you this parrot this last section center in the you're not paying attention or you want me to read everything still you don't want them finish talking about this one I mean, do you want to break it up that way? That's fine as well as I guess, we should read the next. Okay. Moving forward. Soon. After we announced that there were not immediately proceeding that we were not immediately proceeding with GPS planned we received a lot of negative feedback from fans. We think that a lot of the points that were raised were reasonable criticisms toward us especially because we did not communicate what our intentions were and what they could expect in the future. that it doesn't say there guys. For this upcoming competitive season, there are going to be at least four third party events and leaks in the EU CIS, three in China and a few others that are still in the preliminary planning stages and are not able to commit at this time. However, there is still going to be a lot of teams, Casas organizers and fans around the world that are not going to be meaningfully served based on the current trajectory, and that is our fault for not pushing on those and supporting them enough. With that in mind, we started reaching out to many more tournament organizers to offer help and financial support in order to be able to create increased coverage globally for the remainder of the year we expect that these eventually gradually announced over the remaining season as they as soon as they are ready to communicate to fans and teams. And other feedback we got from players as well as fans was wanting more clarity in what we were thinking where the likely dates for deep-sea and tied to resume. Our look right now is that we're anticipating the start of the in the first month or two of twenty twenty one. Our hope is that by the end by the time, the first deep-sea leak concludes travel limitations will be more predictable. Spontaneous restrictions will be less likely this allowing for majors with Cross region competition happen where also operating under the assumption that the most likely outcome is for the International to happen in Stockholm in August twenty, twenty one. while. We have other countries backups. We recognize that fans would be upset if we moved to another location if the time savings

Germany promises Elon Musk full support to get Tesla's Berlin plant ready

"Moving onto the stock, then volatile day for the Nasdaq and for Tesla Tesla finished down five point eight percent on the day to four hundred and forty seven dollars thirty seven cents. So just a bit above where the split happened at around four forty two but that did compared to the Nasdaq finishing up one percent today. So this provides a good illustration of the potential downsides of the at the market structure that Tesla has employed for this potential up to five. Billion, dollar capillaries that we had talked about yesterday. The stock is now down about ten percent from when that agreement was put in place, which demonstrates the risk of not just raising at that fixed price at the time. Of course, with the structure, you have to be comfortable with that risk and presumably not wanting to raise that money badly enough to do it at a lower price and status giving yourself the option if the price stays at that level or goes. Hi. I'm not sure currently on whether we get any sort of updates or when we get updates on whether or not Tesla has issued new shares as a part of that equity distribution agreement. So I'll try to do a little bit more digging on that but if anyone has the insight on that, please let me know for now though because the stock has fallen would be surprised if they have acted on that and issued any new shares we did have just. A couple of pieces of news specifically related to the stock today one is from significant Tesla investor Baillie Gifford. An investment firm that has for a long time held greater than five percent of the outstanding shares up Tesla stock that five percent level requires additional disclosures around trades with the SEC. So in an SEC, filing baillie Gifford has disclosed that their ownership stake in. Tesla has dropped below five percent of the company. I would assume the selling has been happening for. As has been dramatically rising, of course. So for firms that already had a significant portion of their portfolios in Tesla, it just becomes too overweight and they end up trimming it back to add more diversification to their portfolio. See the same sort of stuff from our best Baillie differed managing partner James Anderson said quote. The substantial increase in share price means that we needed to reduce our holding in order to reflect concentration guidelines which restrict the weight of a single stock in clans portfolios. However, we intend to remain significant shareholders for many years. Ahead, we remain very optimistic. About the future of the company, Tesla no longer faces any difficulty in raising capital at scale from outside sources, but should there be serious setbacks and share price. We would welcome the opportunity to once again increase our shareholding. We are privileged to have been decimals largest external shareholder over a period for the development of the company. We are mentally grateful for the extraordinary efforts and achievements of Tesla and driving forward a transportation and energy revolution in the face of persistent skepticism and often downright hostility without tussles efforts. The possibility of hurting climate disaster would have been significantly reduced and. So pretty strong statement there from Anderson I think safe to say that Baillie Gifford is not reducing their position Tesla due to any perceived weakness in the company rather just their funds management structure. In other news on the SOX Today Bank of America analyst Jon Murphy has increased his price target from three hundred, fifty dollars per share to five hundred and fifty dollars per share I believe that the second highest now on the street in terms of a base case Murphy noted the strength into the underlying business that the high stock price affords. Tesla. Saying that it creates A. Positive feedback loop due to the low cost of capital that Tesla has available to it. Through follow on offerings I would definitely agree with that positive feedback loop that helps Tesla not only raise capital, but it should help them get better terms on debt perceived strength of the business by the market can help desolate negotiations with suppliers. Again, especially, help confidence in customers Tesla's can exist going. Forward to service their vehicles, if they do decide to purchase and hey, it's probably helped a lot of investors be able to afford the product, which is also not a bad thing i. think the downside is that with a high stock price, there's potentially less upside available. So it can be a little bit more difficult to acquire talented recruit talent because you don't really have that one. Hundred X upside in the stock anymore like you might add twenty billion or thirty billion. There are offsets to that too though of course, some of that reduced upside comes alongside reduced risk, which is also important in making career decisions anyway back to the Bank of America note, despite the two hundred dollar price target increased to five fifty Murphy does maintain a neutral rating on the stock. Last thing today's quick update on a musk being in Germany. As we said earlier this week he's there for Giga Berlin meetings as well as with cure vac and Bloomberg has shared a couple updates from those Giga Berlin meetings according to Bloomberg. Meyer who is the German? Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy told musk quote. We are very proud of your car plant and Brandenburg and we wish you good luck with that. You'll have every assistance you need and. Bloomberg also notes that construction thus far has progressed relatively smoothly I think we're all pretty aware of that and they write quote a summer twenty, twenty, one production start is still the goal Brandenburg's premier Dima Vodka said in an email statement and.

"summer twenty twenty" Discussed on That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs

"Running low on a couple of the numbers already. So you want to scoot over to shop any F- downs, DOT COM, and the cousy will be there until they run out for four dollars each. So make sure you hop over and grab you a handful. Of those to take you through the fall y'all know and love Suzanne's deal. She was actually on any summer twenty nineteen with us as our intro episode and then I gave her a ring and said, hey Suzanne, please come back and answer some of these questions that are friends that are listening have submitted. So as you may have heard a couple of the final episodes of India Summer Twenty Twenty, we gave you a link to go fill out a survey or to ask US questions for this. So all these questions and this show are ones that you guys have submitted about the agreement. We didn't get through all of them, but we got through all the main topics that were brought up in the questions we scrolled they're all hundreds of them and Kinda put together in groups and we hit all the group. Suzanne has a couple of books already out the road back to you and the path between us make sure you grab those if you haven't yet if you want to continue your. Learning, but for now, here's Suzanne Be O. Answering your questions about any Graham and any a summer twenty twenty. Okay Suzanne's to bill. Are you ready to go? This is hard this is a. I'm so ready and my favorite way to teach. So I'm just GONNA kick back. Is it really oh? Yeah. I'd rather teach answering questions than any other way Oh makes me happy now I i. want to remind people. You are the author of the PATH BETWEEN US CO author of the road back to you and last year you were on our intro episode for Twenty Nineteen Summer. And loved it and people have been begging me to follow up with you about any grant books written by numbers like books written by wines books written by Twos, and that's on your website is and we're constantly updating that when we run into somebody perfect new so. If, I can remember the name of the book that I just this is for you any I'm ready. Patrice GOPRO. Okay. She's a seven on the angiogram and she's written a book. All the colors we shall see. Okay. Is it an all know stories but it is Like what I just said it to. You had chill bumps I. Love this book so much. Yeah. Okay. I'll order it. You know I've been I was going to ask you for this anyway but I turned forty last month and I've been asking masking forty people to tell me one book to add to my bookshelf. So I was GonNa ask you anyway and so I'm going to buy that one in put your name in it as the one you recommend. Okay. Can I give you two more? Yes. Of course, almond over giving I love the yarn over. It's very sweet of all the time. There's a wonderful book by Miriam Greenspan and the title is healing through the dark emotions. Oh Gosh, I don't WanNa read that. I know. Who? It's so relevant, helpful, and hopeful yet. So do that but the other one is here's another seven. But for you read confessions by Matthew Fox okay, Matthew Fox was a Dominican priest and e n my husband Joe left a priest to by invitation say were a little on edge. At about the same time a with around one hundred other fruits Oh. Wow. Okay. And he's had quite a journey but he's a seven on the any grandma and he is just a beautiful book. You'll love it. Okay. I'm going to get all three. Thank you very much. you're so kind. Okay. So let's jump in all these questions have come in from people who listen to any summer twenty twenty and filled out the survey and gave us some questions. So we'll just start buzzing through those. Okay. The first one can you identify as a different at different stages in life, for example, as a child and as an adult? Can you identify different numbers and different areas of life you can identify but you'd be wrong. The answer is sure you. Whatever you want an bro. You're the same number, all of your life, and it's well home by the time you're five however. You know my teaching is that at any given moment, you can be in healthy average unhealthy space or in excess in your number and some people are impasse holiday in their numbers and. Trauma. CAUSES YOU TO BE Hey to behave more from a place of excess in your number. So you have to do a little bit more work over a period of time while you're growing up to Kinda get to level off and get to some average face well, and we all do the same things. So it's really easy to think that you're some other number because of the way you behave. But your n gram numbers not determined by behavior it's determined by motivation. So lots of people who are ones on the Bram. Wonder if they're ones because they were parented by a one. Lots of children who have who lose a grandparents that they were close to childhood our whose best friend moves away. Events like that parents get a divorce they go through some often unexpressed and unexplained melancholy. And that kind of makes them wonder looking back. Essay or a different number, but the answer she? No No. But but even as you're saying that I'm kind of going, Oh, I can see how people get to that of going when I was a kid I bet I was this but now I'm this. Yeah. You know there's a woman who's been doing any groundwork for a long time since the mid seventies and she's pretty deep like A. Your average interest anagram person would enjoy her much. Her name is Sandra Maitree and she has a theory that in childhood you actually lived out of the number that you go to insecurity. Oh. Okay. So as a seven, I lived more out of five out of. Five behaviors. Yeah. So you would have been. A little a little more laid back, a little more. Of An observer. Before you started participating right I'm not.

I love Korean music I love Korean indie hip hop and some and some pop here and there. But I'm very skeptical when it comes to books that. Are Romances with pop stars. I don't I don't know like for some reason it just kind of. Makes me feel. Like, will they it right? Will they get the culture? Right obviously AXIOS is Korean American and she Malo Kate pop for a very long time. So I'm sure she'll get it correct. I mean wasn't her last book on rebel soul about like K. pop and robots. Summer Movies 2020: What to Stream, What's Delayed

"Pandemic has totally thrown summer movie season for a loop. Lots of movies are going straight to streaming. Judd apoptosis and our Shirley's the roads and our welfare, but which streaming movies are really worth your time. And what will the pandemic mean for the film industry, and are we ever actually going to see tenant? The Big Budget Christopher Nolan Sci fi flick scheduled to come out in August. Will we ever see that on the big screen where it is meant to be seen? Well the answer to that question may actually be never. We just found out. That film has been delayed indefinitely, but there's still a lot more to discuss and here to talk us through it. Is Eliana Dr Men? She writes about movies and pop culture and Feminism for time Eliana. Hi, hi, how's it going good? How are you? Good holding up. So I think my first question just has to be like. Is there a summer blockbuster season this year? What happened? Yeah, I feel like saying. There's no summer blockbuster. Season is a little road to the movies that have come out on Vod vod meaning video demand, because a lot of stuff is just going straight to streaming racked. Yes, the things that are going straight to streaming which there have been some good things. But this certainly has not had the momentous feel of a usual summer where I convince my closest friends to go spend a ridiculous money to go see a movie in amax because it's summer and that's what you do. That is not happening. Hollywood has been a little circumspect about that. Keep moving movies that they insist have to count in theaters with good reason for some of 'em a movie like ten it would be much less fun to watch for the first time at home, but they keep sort of delaying it by two week increments, and delaying delaying delaying and I suspect that those delays will go into twenty twenty want, but we'll see. Yet kind of reminds me of early on in pandemic times it was probably like late maybe mid late February, when I found out that the the new James Bond movie was being delayed. Because that was supposed to come out in April. And they decided they moved it to like November. But I remember it was one of the first moment sitting at work when I saw the news where I was like. Oh. This pandemic is real. Yeah that was at the time I remember. Having discussions internally at time and just thinking personally. It's crazy that they're big to November. Why would they be November now? They look like geniuses because they sort of as this has continued to happen. All of these movies are rushing to find different dates, and I've sort of compared. You know finding the right movie release date to picking perfect wedding date. You don't want overlap with another big release that would. Not all the guests are going to come. And you also want to find a weekend when you know. A lot of people are free, so holiday weekends are always big Christmas thanksgiving Labor Day that sort of thing, so there's been just this total crush of movies. Where right now if things go the way that they are currently planned? We're just going to have a million movies released in November and December I. Don't think that that will actually happen, but they sort of James Bond beat everyone to the punch by claiming that date early. Right naming you know here. We are coming up on August. August like who knows what November's even GonNa. Look like yeah, exactly so I do think that most of those movies will probably move to twenty twenty one as well who knows, but it's sort of worst on such an ad hoc basis with all of this right now that I think the studios are also concerned and confused of course, so yeah, obviously you can't tell the future, but I do wonder like. Do you have a sense? You know you say? Probably? A million movies are gonNA drop in November December early. That's kind of the planet this point. is they're then going to be just like a huge drop off because of the stuff that should have been produced over the course of this year. That wasn't able to be because of the pandemic. I don't think we'll actually see that. Drop off until twenty twenty two because a lot of big movies that were supposed to come out this year like I remember another big kind of moment of this pandemic was real is when fast and furious nine moved from a spring of twenty, trying to spring of two thousand, twenty one, which also it doesn't the one that's taking place on Mars or something I think that the rumor is that they. I think that the actual poll of this. Is that this character Han? Who is very unjustly killed off a few movies ago, Mac so there's a whole justice for Han. A whole separate on my fast furious. Good to know. Just in case you're looking for. You on the list. So a lot of those movies have waited a full year. The top gun movie was delayed till Christmas. I think actually, but there are few other movies that have been delay pushed it back a full year. Yeah, push back a full year, so I think we will still get a crowded summer twenty twenty. One I think that we're really going to see the impact. In Twenty, twenty two where the delays in filming movies are are actually going to sort of manifest and that will be very strange. That's really interesting. So you say you don't want to do a disservice to the movies that have come out this summer that have gone straight to streaming services. What do you think are some the standouts that people shouldn't miss so I? Think that a few things have come out that have been great and entertaining, one big standout and profit by saying a lot of these movies are going to be on Netflix. Because Netflix was just more prepared for this than anybody else. WHO Like match? A four site that a pandemic was going to happen, but just by virtue of they drop a new movie every week at this point and write them have to be good. I think. The five bloods, which is Spike Lee movie that dropped on that flicks on June twelfth, and is h front runner in the very weird Oscar season. We're GONNA. Have a mom so far is definitely a standout. I think that that's one that is well worth people's time especially because there are going to be so few kind of prestige, Oscar movies that I think come out the series. Well that if you want to turn Oscar Susan that that is the way to go, okay so that one stands out I mean Hamilton. I watched as soon as dropped and APPS as. Everyone else I talked to did and I think they did a really good job of translating that to screen. Obviously, there's some reconsideration of Hamilton right now and rate. How good of a job it does! reckoning with the racism of the time. But I do think that unlike a lot of sort of problematic properties that were dealing with the summer lamelo Miranda has sort of owned up in participated in that conversations would say watch it with a grain of salt, and then go right you an internet deep dive. Researcher Slavery. And Google Hamilton slavery and just set aside a few hours for that So I think that stands out, I also really loved Palm Springs I'll too I just saw over the weekend, and I thought it was delightful. It felt like. Again try not to shade net flicks too much, but palm springs is one of the first movies released in quarantine that felt like an actual movie to me. and this came on Hulu. It came out on Hulu. It was the biggest purchase out of Sundance ever how it was supposed to be released in theaters. It was very much treated as an indie movie, but a big indie movie randy's hamburger than most people know about these days right and lonely island Andy. Sandberg's group produced it There's some Hollywood power behind it, but it felt like a fully finished movie with. With, the quirks of actual writers, directors incorporated in there and character development whereas I dunno some of the net flicks movies can feel a little bit empty to me like there was a concept and not a lot of follow through So this palm springs stood out to me. Is One a good rom com, which are hard to come by these days in to like. It felt like I would go to theater and pay money to see this movie. Yeah, totally so those are those are sort of a few that have come out so far that definitely stand out to me. As being people's time one that I've been hearing a lot about speaking of net flicks. is the old guard. I haven't watched it yet. What do you recommend it? So I do I mean? The old guard is sorta falls into that category of doesn't feel quite like a complete would be released in theaters film. And I don't. I can put my finger quite on. Why except that? I think that you know the premise of the movie is that these immortal beings are basically you know. superheroes that are constantly saving the world. I would watch that. Yeah, it's definitely entertaining, and like it's Shirley stare on shortly surrounds Great Gina Prince would who directed love and basketball won't have the greatest films of all time. Directed this and I think she does a good job. I do wish that these immortal beings were a little more interesting like if they've lived for thousands of if they had lived for thousands of years, I wish they had. More interesting quirks more things to say about the state of the world. That's a fair critique. Nothing can be perfect. It's definitely a diverted way to spend a couple of hours, and you know well worth people's time if they are looking for bad action, movies, and and kind of not even bad like. This is terrible action movie, but just like not A. Junk food. Yes, junk food. That is the perfect word for it which I mean like. Maybe the bar is really low now. Anyway. Right because it's like if I'm not leaving my house. If I got nothing to do then why not eat some junk food? You know exactly and I think that the I think that Hollywood is scared that we're going to get so used to junk food that we're not going to want to spend a little extra money on not junk food. After this is all over and that will sort of accepts. This is movies now. The netflix version of movies that feels a little bad for me and lacking in a little substance is just going to be the state of the world, and we're not going to spend the extra money to for example, see Palm Springs in theaters or see you know the Irishman in theaters vs on Netflix. To use another sort of direct networks parallel right so. What you're saying, is that essentially like if we are getting used to a lower quality than than what is our incentive to WanNa like go to the theater and spend a bunch of money. An let alone the fact that we're also like sitting. You know theoretically at least shoulder to shoulder with strangers, which is not a thing that people are super interested in doing right now during a pandemic. What do you think is sort of like the future of the movie theater industry? Like are they just doomed? Yeah, it's really hard. I mean as someone who watches a lot of movies, both in my personal life, and for work I cannot wait to get back to the movie theater. Going experience and I do think that there is that sort of feeling that once it is safe. I would happily walk several miles to go. Sit in a big theater next to some co workers or friends. Friends and watch a movie like Ted I. Wait for that to happen I am not comfortable doing right now. Though I do think that it's going to be a question of timing, and how long movie theaters can survive financially until moment where we do feel comfortable all coming back and I think that there's this fantasy that a movie like tenant or a movie like move on. It's just GonNa stuff movie theaters right off the Bat and there's going to be a moment where we all decide. Yes, this is the weekend where it's safe again. where I'm excited about going to the movies and I WANNA. Go sit next to a bunch of strangers and have them. You know spill popcorn on me. I don't think that that I. think that. That's sort of this illusive fantasy I. Don't think that that's going to be the case I. Think it's going to be a very slow trickle. I don't think people are chomping at the bit to go to the movie theaters I do think that that is why studios have been holding back the. Most expensive contents for kind of lack of a better categorization. Is because they don't want to give us Moulana streaming at home, and then have us come to expect okay I'll just wait for Milan's come onstream. I think that they want to create the incentive to go to the movie theater because it is so essential to their business. Surviving I just think that you know that means we might have many more months of not so great content. So, you're saying that it's not only like AMC theaters who need movie theaters to exist, but also Hollywood itself. Yes Hollywood definitely need movie theater to exist I mean the reason that you can make a movie like tenant for hundreds of millions of dollars is because you make. Hundreds of millions of dollars back by selling movie theater tickets. There's just no way that they can make that on Vod. It's not possible, so we'll see how they strategize it going forward, but I think sort of takeaway from this is that Netflix was already fighting it into the Hollywood. Business an Hollywood was not prepared for it, and this is just accelerating the process. So you've mentioned tenant a couple times, this is the newest is it's Sifi right from Christopher Nolan. Yes, it's a new Christopher Nolan movie. The reason I keep mentioning Tenet is because Christopher Nolan. Or Warner brothers have styled tenant as sort of the movie that is going to save the summer blockbuster season. They keep talking about is the first big movie that's going to open the movie. That's going to draw people back to theaters movie. That's GonNa save movie theaters the movie that's going to save the concept of summer blockbuster the movie that's GonNa. Make us feel better again and. I mean that sounds great i. does sound great I mean in fairness them. It's a good movie to pick to pin that on. Because Christopher Nolan is one of if not the only director left who can drop a totally original film that has nothing to do with comic book series. A book is not marble is not DC, NI, and, but this is still one of those like big loud movies. That's like perfect for a movie like a theater going experience that right, yes, yeah heart of the appeal of a movie like ten is that you see it with a big group of people rate, and then will gasp at the same reveal exactly like some of my favorite summer. Summer movie moments are the moments where you know. Something crazy happens in everybody screams. Everybody laughs I think of I. Guess is two summers ago. When the last mission impossible became out and spoiler alert for the first half hour of the mission impossible movie, there's a moment where they are jumping out of an airplane. A character gets struck by lightning and funny in this amass the lost bear market. And as well as the greatest movie memories ever had because it was just this collaborative woman just happened. And those are the best. That's amazing. That's so good well, even though we have just learned that the ten release has been delayed indefinitely, I hope cautiously optimistic that that will. That will have that again someday soon, ish. I hope so too. And in the meantime there are things to watch at home They might not be the things that we were excited about several months ago. but there are things to watch at home, and after this kind of summer movie season is over frankly studios graft figure out what to do with their Oscar contents, and I would not be surprised if a lot of them just get released straight to streaming so that they can qualify for the Oscars this year. Wow, the Oscars, which have officially been postponed right, yes, the Oscars have officially been postponed, and they've also changed their rules, so that movies that are released to streaming can qualify which is a. Huge concession on their part Isis County will change the back afterwards, but it's been a big fight in Hollywood as to whether streaming movies can count for the Oscars in hopes of saving the movie theater, going experience, and so now streaming movies will qualify and I think that's going to change the calculus for a lot of studios that aren't necessarily trying to make big money movies that they are trying to win awards. "Is a lot of great news I mean. Throughout this you know quarantine. What's going on? People making stuff and people are still making stuffing. People are still getting deals and people were still like there's a lot of really great books coming up in the next few years that we're super excited about so really once you started off the for story. Okay? I! First story is could not acquire Noble Prize for literature winner Couso Ishiguro's newest novel Clara in the Sun. The story follows a highly observant artificial friend Clara who monitors the shoppers who come into our store? Hoping that someday will choose her publication is set for March Twenty, twenty one I'm intrigued. But also. The sounds like I mean Kazuyoshi. Girl is known for writing bombers right I mean I don't mean that in a pejorative way like his historians are melancholic and introspective and like are not necessarily Like, fuel good pieces right I think. Ishiguro is definitely one of those author who. Takes the time to reflect on what is happening in the world and incorporate that into his story so yeah I could feel like a bummer, but it can also be a reflection of of the truth set. We're living in today and a lot of people don't understand that writing is political like there is no neutral ground for it, so Yeah like. A cousin grew is the author of never let me go for those who are unfamiliar with the name and never let me go was a book that we have covered a for a book club. Yeah, next up, Hall. Health acquired chains. Wong's picture book. Rainbow Shopping set in Manhattan's chinatowns. The book celebrates the joys of a mother daughter trip to the grocery store publication scheduled for summer twenty, twenty two. I hope never. It's an Asian grocer. You probably Chinatown. I will say that I have never liked my grocery trips with my mother. Just grocery trips in general I hate grocery shopping. Actually Dan is the one who grocery shops. In this household because I hate it so much. Trips with your mom to the grocery store is when she bites. It's like you know you find that one. Always get me. Like when I would go with my mom like when we would pick up, seafood showed like like. Like she would like. Ask me like Oh, which Crabs d want for dinner and it's like Oh. Wow, I'm going to pick the animal that. Arena kill to eat. Not really a pleasant

"And of Todd's feeling is perhaps he'll send that out as a bonus more on today. What do you think? Oh yeah absolutely absolutely amazing can I? Can I squeeze one more in here? He finally came around to Describing why he did it he said I kind of went nuts being cooped up inside for thirty days. I think we're going to hear a lot of those. I think we have a category of facemask morons and cabin fever. Morons coming our way I think. Summer Twenty twenty is going to be a bonanza story. Right all right. That is your morons in the news for today once again. Text the word more on two eight eight two six to seven four seven. You'll get the low speed. Bob Cat Chase. That's what happened to you Sherry. I know it is because the first like four weeks that we've been working from home. I had to sit with my head in a phone line box. It was so bad that I couldn't even turn my head. It was so painful I couldn't sleep and I'm not used to that I couldn't stretch it out. It was miserable. Go to olmecs health dot com and enter the Code Sherry and get twenty percent off teen contact talk on a Free Sherry APP so I have two examples here of how people are relating to the corona virus. Situation that we're all in the first one is a jackass and the second one is an amazing teacher. I mean we all know. Teachers are going way beyond what they're called to do. But this one is something so. Let's start out with the first story here. The police in Jacksonville Florida shown Cinco Tamayo tailgate party on Tuesday after hundreds of people showed up at a TACO joint. I think you might have seen that on the news. One person told a reporter quote. I don't even know anybody who knows anybody who's had the virus so for me. It's hard to say I'm afraid because I'm not afraid. Listen chief. Here's the deal. I don't know anybody. Who's a rocket scientist okay? I don't know anybody who knows anybody who's a rocket scientist but I still think we went to the moon. Well I'll I'll say this because I know that I see this on Social Media. Lot people saying I don't know anybody that had it and our hospitals are empty and Blah Blah Blah. Well I hope that that continues. I hope that you continue to not know that gets it because we do know. And we're here to tell you that it is devastating. We lost we lost. The young died in the hospital worker and his death was excruciating and lonely and terrible and he left his kids without a father. So here's my prayer for you that this goes on and one hundred years from now your descendants don't know anyone that ever had this virus what would love to see that continue now. Here's here's the really good news. We all know what teachers are doing. They're teaching remotely. They're trying to Keep a class together. Keep spirits up. Some of them are driving by the homes of their graduating students. Beeping horns and saying well done and so on this one is something an elementary school teacher. Connecticut as stepped in to take care of a student's newborn brother for a month. Well the students family recovers from Corona Virus. Wow so she's teaching and then she knows that she doesn't have the taste her in the summer. So she's going to take on a newborn baby. Oh that makes me think of the other night. I was watching David Muir who I love of Max tells me he's completely out of reach for me on. Abc World News Tonight. While I was cooking dinner and they at the end of the news show they had a kicker story and it was this nurse who the woman had her baby and the baby had to stay in the hospital and woman had to go home. And you're not allowed to be with your family members in the hospital even your newborn baby. Okay I want you to imagine that this nurse her name was Brittany. This nurse wrote this mom beautiful letter about. We just want you to know that even though you're not here we are loving on your baby boy. As though he were own and we're holding him and taking care of him and we don't want you to worry about that he's getting even though your arms aren't here to hold him he's getting all this love. It was this beautiful letter I was standing in the kitchen. Just like sobbing. And then they cut to the. The baby was able to go home and they cut away to the mom and the baby and the Dad and the little sibling and the mom just said getting that letter was everything to me and then she started to cry and then they cut away to the nurse that wrote the letter and the nurse. Said Bob. The nurse said we're just doing our job. It's just it is nice to hear. Thank you. Sometimes that was it. I was just crying and blowing my nose and wailing and sobbing and hysterical. It was so moving so people who look at these things did a survey and asked right. Now who are the hardest working people in the United States? And I'm going to bring that to us in just a few minutes here go with. It's not Kylie Jenner. You're on the money. There are after after the second. Guess Okay I'd get a second guess then and finally while the. Us Supreme Court held arguments remotely this week. The sound of a toilet flushing could be heard in the background. Do Your own jokes. I'll tell you what they can probably go pretty quickly with those robes on. Could somebody go into the bathroom with Mike? Could you hear the toilet plus well? There's there's there's a Mike. Obviously if they're talking back and forth and then somebody has bathroom near wherever the Mike is even if I went to the bathroom where Next to me with hearing it going to say the hardest working people in the USA right this minute with this virus thing going on. It's going to be straight ahead. This is pop. Share thanks to these Bob and Sheri listeners. Who have jobs considered essential? I work in healthcare do residential trash pickup. I'm a nurse who is currently working in public health states. It's Bob and Cherry. Oh we are so glad to have you with us and we hope that things are going well at your house. Whether you're all alone with your spouse or thirty one kids like that story. We had a couple of days ago. Somebody adopted thirty one kids and they are quarantined. So people were asked. What's the hardest job right now? In the United States of America there are ten that are listed and of course only one can be number one so I thought I would run them down and Most of them have one thing in common. And you can probably guess what it is when. I'm through number. Ten is prison warden number nine. Is Farmer Number Eight bomb squad boy? That's one I tell you I don't know why bomb squad is a on every list hardest job no matter what else is happening in the world. I mean if I if I became a police officer and they came out and said fellas ladies were one down on the bomb squad. Who's up for that? I just don't think so. Those people are amazing number. Seven healthcare worker surgeon is number six. These are the hardest jobs right now. Number five is firefighter. It's always in the top. Five number. Four is police officers. Same thing goes for that. Paramedic is the third hardest job..

"summer twenty twenty" Discussed on COVID-19: What You Need to Know

"You hear data about the ability of this virus to survive remember that is almost always in a laboratory setting so that's in an ideal situation if you will or laboratory setting it's not real life. It's not realistic. So only time will tell what happens here in the summertime all right a lot of questions surrounding this next question based on recent news headlines. Is there any evidence that this virus is man made? I have to tell you something amy on February third. I was at the NIH. I was touring the Vaccine Development Lab with Dr Anthony. Fauci I asked him this question verbatim on February third. His answer was no people were looking at that. They weren't in denial but remember the DNA sequence of this virus was publicly made available very early on and every time something has tested. They're comparing it. They're looking for clues and there's over ninety percent similarity between the DNA fingerprint of this virus. And that that comes from that so right now according to Dr Anthony. Fauci no evidence of that at all. Okay Dr Jen Ashton. We appreciate those answers. And you can submit your questions to Dr Jen on her instagram. At Dr J. Ashton well as the school year winds down summer camps across the nation are trying to figure out ways to still operate safely during the corona virus. Pandemic in some programs are already pulling the plug on those plans and here with more on whether camps will be open. This summer is the executive director of the American Camp Association of New York and New Jersey. Susie susie thanks for being with us and I just explain for people who might not be aware why summer camp is so essential for a lot of families. Yeah and thanks for having me. I mean especially during this time we do feel now more than ever children are going to need summer. Camp First of all most critically parents are going to have to get to work if the economy is going to be reopening and phases throughout the country. Parents have to be able to have their kids somewhere right so summer. Camp provides that opportunity of just basic childcare. Uc camps opening for Summer Twenty Twenty and is there a distinct and can we distinguish day camps and sleep away camps? Yeah we are working furiously as you can imagine to try to determine if an open safeway were waiting for guidance from the states to tell us whether or not they're going to be permitting camps to run and then beyond that the American Camp Association is working with an independent firm of medical experts and the American Association pediatrics and also working with the CDC to bigger out guidelines. How family gathered children safely this summer. There's an advantage to being outdoors overlooking at group sizes. Were looking at once. Children are out of camp. You know really kind of keeping them there so trips not allowing outside visitors. How do we screened children when they come into the now? All of those things most important thing is and we do this safely and camps operate in that environment. And do you see cam counselors and children as almost a must going through these vigorous rigorous health screenings before they would be able or be allowed to get into these camps. Yeah obviously we are hopeful that there will be some advancements in rapid testing as we go through the next six to eight weeks and beyond that the CDC has already started to release guidelines that they could see for day camps and those accounts that child goes through to during the day does not stay overnight. And what we're learning through those is that UH certainly there needs to be some sort of screening. But we're not quite sure what that's been a look at this point all right if camps do not open. Do you see the curriculum moving towards a virtual atmosphere. How would you do that? Yeah I mean similar to schools. Camps are part of a child's whole education. Certainly any camps are ready for their campers that were attending last summer. Some camps are already moving to virtual programming. They're doing virtual campfires. Doing Sing alongs steamatic activities. And they're trying to get their communities together an absolutely. We do see that some would be able to go that route but we're still hopeful that we get kids outside away from screens and help reopen the economy this coming summer. Twenty twenty and speaking of the Economy. Money's tight for a lot of people. A lot of families have already pre paid for Camp. So what about refunds for parents? Whether or not camp is open this summer. Yeah so every camp does operate as their own individual organization business so we definitely encourage families to contact gaps. If they haven't already heard from that most camps have been in contact with their families letting them know let their policies are talking to families about whether or not they want to roll over that money whether or not they're going to be expecting refunds and all of that. We are asking families to be patient. Let us see if we can if we can run a lot of answer absolutely going to try and create safe environments. Children says he'd you have any idea when you'll be able to make that decision? We are very hopeful than in the next of weeks we are getting. You know we're inmate now and we do need to start taking these decisions. We know that camps needs to make these decisions soon. We know that families need to understand what their summers are. GonNa look like so. We are hopeful that in the next two to three weeks. We're going to be seeing a lot guidance. Come down from the CDC. We're going to be seeing a lot. More states open up. And then we're going to be seeing the results of that and we are working with governors across the country to try to determine. Okay where's does can't fit into these phases all right Susie looper. We certainly wish you the best in all of that planning. We certainly appreciate your time today. Thank you so much for having really appreciate that and coming up next.

Former Education Secretary John King on what returning to school may look like

"Vote president trump is going back to school or something state governors should seriously start to consider but it's not clear what school will look like when students return John King was education secretary under former president Obama and now he is the president and CEO of the education trust good morning Mr secretary in your view what needs to happen before kids can go back to school well we've got to be guided by the best public health recommendations and those include fourteen consecutive days of declining cases first in the community getting in place a good system of testing and contact tracing and then we've got to have careful planning for how we reopen school in a way that is safe for staff and for students what do you think reopen schools will look like I mean in China there in some cases there are kids are wearing masks on their glass dividers people are talking about one way hall ways what what do you think a realistic scenario would be at this point well assuming that we've got in place that did system of testing and contact tracing I think we're going to see the school districts needing to adapt the structure of the day fewer students in each classroom procedures for lunch that will look very different where students are eating in the classroom rather than cafeteria rethinking activities like physical education so that students aren't crowded into a small space together they'll need to be a personal protective equipment for teachers will need to make sure that if a student becomes sick there's a way for that student to be temporarily isolated at school before they can be picked up and and they'll need to be processes in place to regularly check students how that may look like temperature checks I certainly mass may be a part of this strategy and that's why it's distressing to start planning now for what will look different when kids come back so how far in your what's your feeling about how far away from this we are well it probably varies across the country depending on where communities are in the in the spread of of coping nineteen but we are so far from the fundamental testing in contact tracing system that we need in place as a country and that's really that's really the the most critical issue we we see from our international peers that it's testing and contact tracing that's the key to protecting public health you brought up a really important point that we may end up having an effectively a lost generation of kids here that and during this period inevitably so many children are going to be learning less and are at risk of falling behind how significant do you think that is and it's a huge risk and really what's happened is that code nineteen crisis has held up a mirror to our system and showing us the extent of our inequities other some kids who don't have access to devices don't have access to bandwidth low resource districts that are struggling to provide professional development and support to their teachers students who are experiencing really difficult situations at home and need more socio emotional support and so we see a real gap between what's happening from one community to the next some communities parents are able to support their kids on their home teleworking other communities parents have to work outside of the home and in the African American workforce only about twenty percent of folks are able to work from home so we're going to see very large academic gaps when students come back that's why we need to be thinking about a potential summer school extended school day with after school programming probably summer school and summer twenty twenty one we've got to make sure that we don't end up with a with a lost generation of students and that's a question of political will are we willing to make the investments necessary to protect

Japan postpones 2020 Summer Olympics to 2021

"But with the children thanks the games I have to be rescheduled based on everything that's going on because if nobody wants to go and compete in and nobody wants a gold watch then Tokyo is going to really you know be tanked financially from this so prime minister Shinzo Ave spoke to the head of the IOC and proposed the delay it's going to be rescheduled beyond twenty twenty but not later than summer twenty twenty one now the Olympics have never been to lead up before I thought there was a delay one of the Olympics and forget I thought it was it had to be delayed into October of one year the summer Olympics once I think was in the sixties had to be delayed to October forget why but they were canceled back in nineteen sixteen nineteen forty and nineteen forty four I'm C. nineteen forty nineteen forty four was during divorce will work till so the gains have to be rescheduled to a day beyond twenty twenty but not later than summer twenty twenty one accord the international Olympic committee I guess that we they write the rules as they go originally the rules work you will have to deal with in twenty twenty and they realize well then it one of the summer Olympics if we have to wait till after the summers of the cold so Tokyo governor Yuriko Cole Leakey said vads the name of the delayed Olympics will still be Tokyo twenty twenty well because that's what all the gear and all the you know swag and everything says so it's not going to be called the twenty twenty one I think it's really really important for Olympic staff even number years even numbers on there so he made a comment to reporters or she'd made the comments are part of the vision part minister Shinzo abi spoke to the head of the national of the committee let me see here IOC president Thomas Bach has agreed one hundred percent of the falls from a proposal and then said the decision was about protecting human life fox said the new dates for the new games to be postponed during peace time would be decided by an IOC panel overseeing the gains in Tokyo organizers yeah it's very expensive we've talked about how cities take a big hit whenever they do Olympics because Olympics village the stadiums it's really hard to get your money back Atlanta has a really nice Olympic area it it it has like you know Olympic village and you know you get to see it except I just don't know how much money they make off of that but the average you know state country city whatever it doesn't seem to do well post Olympics from what we understand it's an absolute mess when you have all these consumers come and spend money and then you know they leave so what do not have an Olympics after spending all that money to prepare and it takes years to prepare that alone can just crash Japan's economy without even talking about you know the Olympics or the court of ours so when they see the current pandemic has already helped push Japan towards recession the GDP contracted one point eight percent in the October December quarter an economist at research firm Fitch on Monday revises twenty twenty growth forecast for Japan to negative one point one percent from negative point to and he said the postponement will worsen it significantly and impact their GDP the three point five point eight percentage points hence the postponement would badly affect Japanese consumer confidence they do not know what it would do to the two hundred forty billion yen if Japan has issues then we have issues obviously because we're all you know in an economy together Tokyo twenty twenty organizers declined to say how many foreign visitors expect to visit Japan specifically to watch this one action I remember they still have aftermath of Fukushima not so much a literal radiation aftermath but you don't have a lot of people very excited to you know also go to an area that had you know the tsunami and then you know the nuclear fallout from that so my guess is even if the Tokyo Olympics are postponed I don't believe that it's going to still be as much of a economic you know windfall as people

"A lender teigen gang boss care What else we get united his lost the US Olympic team sponsorship to Delaware as it. Because they've changed their colors too much blue too much blue. Not Red White never had signed united her. I ride to refusal. They just didn't stop them. Must have given them a better option. United refused to match a game. Yeah what do you think the incentive for united knock to match it what why? They think they just didn't get enough return. Maybe the marketing team said man. We're not seeing enough at. How much money do you think you're making off the Olympics? As a sponsor hundreds of millions of dollars contracts. I remember correctly like it's it's this is not a couple of a couple of bucks to name like a stadium in a small town as is huge amounts of money four hundred million for Delta well but he. So here's the thing right. One one of the things is that a lot of logistics into moving the team under equipment for a very long time. The question is can delta. Actually do it. Because it's an entire sub team within the company that manages all of that. Yeah they've got a couple of years to get together and Delta has been running. Sports Charters Sports. It's very different. Yes right there is still the absolute sort of There's a level of service did and then there's the unique scheduling. I'm not interested damage different. And I think I think Delta's sports stuff has been fairly well managed by Yahoo's most teams are happy with Delta and the service they provide. I haven't read any complaints so for those are very easy going. From point data point be with the entire team in all their equipment true but I mean moving Olympians across the ocean. I feel like. Isn't that much different? No but they're coming from different spots. The timing is different for each one based on their sports. Yeah Right. There's a lot more variables in it and it's not as many people. You're not charting planes for them right. That's the luxury of the sport charters. They're all charter planes. In this case these are just regular commercial. Flights sit down for trading. Sorry for training and stuff. It's not but I mean for so chee. United was running triple seven to Russia for a couple of days agreed. But it's just it's not just during the event though that's what you have to remember. It is a lot more than that this. This is from now from the time that it gets executed to the point that the games happened in the end. I know it covers like logistics for the team for getting to the Olympics. And my recollection includes like a sort of corporate discount code that is significant. Not your typical three to five percent. Whatever of meetings or whatever by like a significant corporate discount bite for just sort of regular moving around for training in such but it's though so that's the part where you're talking about is like they gotta fly those people around. Yeah because they still. That's still gets managed through the back office for the equipment stuff. Yeah you can't just go buy a ticket on the website with your discount code expected your equipment while with no problems or they think that Michael Bolton Sierra j two hundred mainly no I was going to say as long as you're not flying Sierra Tucson Delta he probably won't be delayed or or you'll be infinitely keeps get cancelled cancel. It was like what are you thinking? Oh man well I mean. I think it's I think it's sad for united. I mean they've been doing it for a long time so it has been trying to figure out when United I had to contract as long as I can remember back in the eighties which I mean. It's it's kind of sad but it's you know we'll see we'll see money money. Money talk so Just NAMING RIGHTS FOR STADIUMS FOR LA. Yeah that's why I thought the memorial key ally Memorial Coliseum United Pavilion or something like that. Yeah they couldn't actually name the they were going to name the stadium and then could it because people are like no. This is the memorial coliseum or people who died in wars. Maybe you should be jerks like that and back off hello really playing deocracy. Real game into using movie folks has electrolytes. Plants need. Yeah I mean. He went to Costco this past weekend. Definitely Living Clo anyway. So Bamboo Airlines has signed A. Um To start service unit from Saigon or human said. Excuse me and Hanoi This is interesting Seth. I would you explain what you owe Emma's MOU longer you just saying weird things. I think I think he put a text message wrong which he sent me. And maybe that's where I'll take credit for that one. But I was really enjoying it it's a memorandum of understanding. So it's the first step in the contracts towards securing gate space and other things Munich airport will deliver some advertising revenue advertising services and promotional stuff. Sorry this is subsidized route. Yup Day report is helping pay for and it's three days a week to coachman city in one to Hanoi. Starting in July is the plan and bamboos weird right there short-haul when I was in Vietnam late last year in October and it's it was a nice operation. They are sort of the value carriers right. They're not the true low cost carrier Via jets are Jetstar Pacific. And they're not what Vietnam Airlines considers themself. Full-service carry but on domestic flights is decidedly not You get a little free meal. They have some legroom. There was streaming live our entertainment on the plane. They're trying yet but it's also very much a ego by some billionaire who From whatever there's like an article about him in the was an article about the deputy director of the airline talking about experience and how he got hired to run the airline with the by the founder and the founder was talking about how he wanted to buy an airplane when they met at a country club. One day the guy's comment was but you just met Donald Trump and he owned he owned airline. Why don't you think bigger and get yourself airline instead and this guy did so Ego Plan might be putting a little too late. But he's thrown millions and millions of dollars at it who knows if they'll ever be profitable and they went from a bunch of a true mishmash of single-aisle aircraft like wet leases. Dryly says there's a. I think it'll Cambodia. Airways random piece of shit on the ramp and I was like what is that and it turned out to be running flights for bamboo And then they bought these brand new seventy seven and out of use them somewhere and so progress. I and that starts with the I. Atta spring or summer season. Summer are Northern Summer Twenty twenty which starts on the end of March and then goes from there and so we shall. We shall see. We'll see if it actually starts also that right like the good news. I suppose in many ways is that Vietnam Exposure with the corona virus has run very quickly. Some exposure seems to have died down pretty quick so some saying the virus like the molecules. Whatever done couldn't weather I don't know if that's true but so that Mameluke Seventy seventy four. First at the case the true. I thought it was business all night but.

"Tv ratings of Zero Point Zero in Houston that Nielsen couldn't verify that one huge donation had watched their games. So I kinda wanted to go down there to figure out what was going on. You know what was the plan? Was there any plan whatsoever? I went down with really just an open mind. I came away thinking that there was a plan. It was one that I'd never seen before or heard of before the way. They were committed to process the way they were committed to leveraging analytics in a very disciplined way combining their analytics with human observations. Get the best out of both man and machine. It really seems as if they're in the nascent stages of building something new and something special which is what led to that cover prediction And what led to my coverage of them over the next four to five years during which time it kind of improbably worked out now. I think that two things can be true. I think that this can still be a very innovative organization. That invented that were pioneers of that was on the vanguard of so many things that have not proliferated across baseball and across sports. You know in many ways so many positive things helping guys figured out how to get the most out of their skills about properly identifying and evaluating talent you know about committing to a process over have hoping for an outcome. I think those things are all good. I think that there was clearly this darker side to the operation. And I'm going to try to figure out my podcast exactly how this thing happened. You know how this emerged as part of the operation but there's a darker side of the operation since that perhaps and. I'm speculating a bit here. That this age he can culture a culture committed to finding an edge in everything above costs could have led them to the embracing of an edge. That was not as positive to put it mildly. That's where I wanted to kind of go like. How did this start like? Where did the genesis of this? This intern who invented dark arts. Is he the guy that said? Hey if you know if we you know almost like Gilligan's island they got this Structure Code Morris Code you know it's like did he come up with the plan and then he put it the. Ludd now and hench and say okay. Here's what I think we can do for the hitters and then I mean to convince baseball players that they're going to buy in or any pro athlete that you're gonNA be able to deliver on the good. You promise them there's got to be a little bit of a you know. A trust factor. Like it's gotTa be proven like if I went into a scouting room and I told the defensive lineman anytime. The centres left hand is on his hip. It's definitely going to be a pass when it's dangling in between his legs it's run. They're going to challenge me on that right. They're not taking it for gold. Like how did this become gold? Well that's certainly what I'm going to investigate In the next several months putting together this podcast the origins of how this happened are I'm sure multifactorial and there's still a bit muddy Mike. Look the Astros. Were very good at figuring out kind of underlying truth right and how the game works. I think it's not that hard to envision over time a slippery slope in which yeah maybe. The Front Office gave the players resources how to do this. A lot of this was certainly player directed as I said like the very concept of stealing signs was not something that was outlawed in baseball right. This is something that's been going on for hundreds of years. So maybe over time if your players or even the front office it's hard to kind of differentiate the new way in which you're doing it from the way it's always been done plus it was such a clear advantage right and how it was helping everybody. I think there was probably a sense in the clubhouse as I said that everybody in the League was gonna be doing this in some way just because it was so obvious. I'm sure they had some proof. That other teams were doing it. Do I think it's possible that the Astros were better at it? Because they were so savvy or came up with a more complicated system. Yeah that's certainly possible. Maybe they were the best of it but certainly can imagine a general sense in the clubhouse that hey this is what's happening base right now. Everybody's doing it to us. We're going to beat them at this game it's gamesmanship it's part of the game Clearly they knew to hide it but you know stealing signs and never been out in the open. Distant kind of a somewhat passably accepted practice. And I think it's the sort of thing that's snowballed from there into. What now is and seems like that. They cancelled baseball and decades. It's really remarkable that it's taken over. I mean the steroid. Thank to me was so obvious. And it did impact the game like it did in football the seventies. Because you know we saw a lot of players. He the but they didn't really understand what steroids was about in the seventies. I mean it was just it was supposed to be. I know when I first got started in Scouting. Steroids was looked at as. You're trying to help yourself. It wasn't going to hurt your body. Then we found out through medicine that became just dramatically Devastating to what you were trying to do to your body but the Starwood to me is is bigger but I. I have a sense that this we were just on the cusp of this Ben. I think this is going to be bigger. And I and I think if I were the commissioner you know I would be a little bit like Logan Roy and try to contain this. Because I think this is because there's no fricken way that some player left a Houston and went to some other team and didn't say hey man we should do this right like it's gotta be elsewhere right if you remember Mike. The initial athletic story that started to blows open the second part of the headline was part of an epidemic in Major League baseball right suggesting that yes the Astros. Maybe we're the worst. Violators at least the first violators to be revealed. But this is something that was going on across Major League Baseball. That's how the story came from the beginning. That's been lost a little bit. And yes. The Red Sox were waiting for their punishments. Come down I don't expect it to be as severe although it'll probably be pretty severe. I think the Commissioner's Office. And the owners of the club are very incentivized to limit the damage to where it stands right I think I agree with you that it's hard to believe that this thing doesn't spread now. Is it just a matter of degrees? Oh well the Astros are the worst that everyone else is doing a little bit. Maybe that'll help but like to me. I'm not sure I'm not sure how to draw the line between what is outrageous behavior that deserves a beating and which is kind of more in line with a slightly more modern version of something. That's always happened in the game. Don't know I mean one thing is for certain is that this story is not ending when the red sox penalties are announced. Right which we're expecting next week. Ben So that you're right. I could have more repercussions if all of a sudden they were guilty of similar fractures. Okay who's next team etc or is that it does. The Commissioner's office okay. We got teams. Don't want this distraction the season ultimately. We all know this. You always eat a great villain. Every story the ashes are now that Villainy Major League Baseball. What I think is fascinating. Let's guys can we for the season to start anyways but now got every Houston? Astros game is going to be disseminated like the Zapruder film if they get off to a great start. Bet It's amazing because then they're going to get emboldens. Screw you guys yeah fi? We cheated but you know we did win. Road Games okay. The method wasn't one hundred percent foolproof. We're still great players. Were proving it to you now so you can stick it but of course even more fascinating is a great team like that if they could opt to a bad start if I'll to a one for twenty five slide and he's not taking his jersey. Then you'll really get these catcalls. I think I just can't wait for the season to begin. Obviously with your podcast coming out this summer. There's no shortage of material with which people are going to be watching these Astros Games. You're right actually. Even thought too much about you know if these guys get off to an absolutely terrible start how that might snowball publicly. I frankly think the bigger obstacle to their success this year then presumably not benefiting from any signs stealing slash any hangover or continuance of this Backlash or the Yankees and the dodgers. Right like it's the first season in several years which I when. I'm looking at the League as an analyst. I'm not thinking the Astros are the favorite again There at least two other seemingly more talented superpowers out there. Well certainly going to be an amazing story. Last one four four. Let you go ben and again. We appreciate the time. I know how busy are right now. Jayson stark our friend was saying this is the biggest scandal in one hundred years as black sox scandal can you? I'm sure you'll do this in the podcasters as well. And obviously in your stories sl but what parallels would you draw for like a fifteen year old baseball fan listening to this podcast right now? Who is intimately familiar with Eddie? See Cotton Charles Comiskey and shoeless Joe Jackson. What perilous would you draw between what happened with the black socks and what happened with this? Astros team. I certainly think the black sox scandal was worth you know as far as intentionally losing a world series for Gambler. That's not exactly what they did here. But this is certainly one of those scandals that comes along every couple of decades that will shape the sport. I mean you know you can go back to the steroid era as probably the most recent one that is kind of comparable. I guess again. The difference is just the anger in the rest of the League. Right like I was thinking about this. We were talking about it a little bit at the MLB network. Yesterday wife players weren't attacking other guys during the steroids era in a similar way especially because those guys were doing something that's obviously much more dangerous Much in some ways a bigger competitive advantage. I think it's because look if you're going after steroid users you can convince yourself that you're actually also going going after the guy standing next to you in the clubhouse right. This thing was kind of insinuated throughout the sport whereas here. There's a very clear target. There's a very clear other you can attack and it's astros right. I mean I think that that kind of allows players to be like forget what we might have been doing in our clubhouse as far as dealing signs that was kind of a normal operation but these guys did is worse they are now the clearly defined villain so they're going to set up an interesting dynamic immediately and for a long time to come and how about the Washington nationals world series champions and no one's checking out with Mike Rizzo that great quote of the day. We're only the world series champions with three media guys here and forty-seven or talking to the Astros. That's just the way that life goes right down bed rider. Great writer first and foremost readers work in. Sports illustrated his book Astro Ball. The new way to win it all was a couple years ago. He's now going to podcast series coming at Summer Twenty Twenty series in conjunction as well canes thirteen of part of it Ben. Thanks so much of the time man. This was really illuminating. Really enjoyed it. Thanks guys thank you Ben. All right great stuff there from Ben Writer. A Week. Come back from the show. Mike and I will talk further about this ashes situation. Plenty more to unpack certainly plus. What happened the Cleveland? Cavaliers parting ways with John. Beland and what? We can learn from that situation throughout professional sports. That's next.

"summer twenty twenty" Discussed on Talking Points

"You once you google or look up how to what's the best use of these points or like I've a page of award charts and transfer partners on the resource page. Now you have American Express points you can look up what the transfer partners and then you can look up a word charts and then once you're playing around with it it will. It will make a lot more sense all right coming up after the break here. How drew got into the points of miles game and some of his travel. Inspirations and welcome back to talking points and my conversation with teepee senior product manager drew macomer. Who is helping to build the T. P. G. APP coming Summer Twenty Twenty? Let's jump back into it so drew. Let's get to the basics. Like how did you get into this crazy miles points world like what was that? I draw that got you in. Yeah actually I read a book that talked about miles and points being earned by buying one dollar coins is actually Chris. Gilo bows book and it came out in two thousand nine. I was in one of his books. He interviewed me. I remember when I first started blogging. He had a paid community where you had to pay to get tips in the loyalty world. So what did you do after reading the book? Yes so I think I just googled what this one dollar coin thing was about. You know earning miles for free sounded pretty appealing. You know I was Kinda thinking about getting married and I wanted to keep travelling. But you know didn't have a lot of money but I knew I wanted to travel the world. I just absolutely knew that was a thing so so the US men thing was probably one of the most epic points earning opportunities of all time and for those listening there have been NPR and Wall Street Journal stories about it but basically the gist is. Congress passed a law saying that you could buy. Us dollar coins and in order to incentivize consumers you could buy them for free online with free shipping so basically you could put them on a credit card with no fee earned but say ten thousand dollars get those coins and then go straight to the bank deposit them and then pay off your credit card bill. Earning you as almost free points. Yeah exactly and we. We did that very hardcore. We were busing. You found out about it while it was still going on. Oh yeah definitely so many people today people will ask me hey. Is it still possible to get millions of free points by getting truckloads of coins and a Mike? That ship has long sailed. Oh Yeah it died in. I think two thousand eleven or two thousand twelve but yet the time it was awesome and because I was getting credit card to that had high spinned requirements that I couldn't meet at the time so I bought one dollar coins originally just to meet the three thousand dollar requirement. So I'd have three thousand dollars of coins show up and take him to the bank and then there was. I don't know if you remember this. But there is a cashback portal offer to get cash back on American Express gift cards so then I could buy one thousand dollars gift cards and then that helped me get around the one card number per thousand dollars of coins so then I was getting cash back to by thousands of dollars so you took it to an extreme. So you started off slow. And then did you get addicted. Well Yeah how can you not so renting U. Haul trucks to take in your coins to the bank? But you know. The car was a scientist at the sparks. Coming out driving. You're not good for the suspension. And they are that heavy. I totally serious. Like what was the amount that you could carry like? Was it like a thousand or something like no maybe ten thousand but we wouldn't carry them. You put them. We'd put them in rolling bags and then we just like troublemakers rolling up to the bank and unloading into banks. Ever give you a hard time totally so one time we went into the bank and the bank manager told us no like instantly. I could see the skepticism. I had like twenty thousand dollars in coins and they've never been on a raft and they're like. I've never seen these native American coins and their US your banker. You should know this. Oh so he thought it was like full fraud. He wasn't sick of other people doing it. He was just like the shady. Yeah just it probably had a lot more to do with me than the coins So Look Pretty Shady. So I looked up where another bank was and we went down to the next bank deposited all the coins and went home and went on with my day about an hour later. I got a phone call from the same bank manager. Apparently manager of both branches and the bank manager actually debited my account so all the coins are gone. I still owe twenty k. On my card you know and so all the coins were gone. I call up the bank just support line and they instantly took care of it. The called the bank so luckily that got turned around. You're able to pay off. Oh got turned around. And how much did you do? Total the coins like one hundred thousand. Oh Yeah for sure. Yeah so you get all these points and then you start reading flyer talk and blog just getting wrapped up in this whole body down the Rabbit Hole. Pretty quickly immediately. Because I knew I wanted to travel and actually I wanted to travel time. My goal was to get married. Take a year off and you know by the time we were thinking about that. I had millions of miles so then we booked a one way ticket zone away. We went so your if your wife then girlfriend. She was on the fence and now with millions of points. I mean that's going to have to say yes. No valley points. Obsession is real so you get married and then you lived in hotels for awhile rights. You did do the drama. Was it a full year or did you were you longer than that where you're gone a lot longer than that but originally was supposed to be a yeah it was just. Let's take off and travel and I started the blog travelers free. What was a early two thousand eleven? Maybe Two Thousand Ten. But we started traveling mid two thousand eleven. And if you've never been to a site go to travel is free dot com even though he's now part of the tea. Pg family of companies. He still going to be writing in his free. Time for travel is free really interesting stuff and we're looking to bring over some of the cool tools that he's created to the site and APP. So what did you learn so you went out on the road? You lived in hotels. How did you do it? Living in working from the road and earning redeeming points well one year turned into five years first of all five years. Yeah definitely we. Very quickly transitioned to a points. Hotels kind of strategy. So I'll say this. I I discovered I h g promotions where it was Kinda like the accelerate promotion. Where you complete these tasks can you got. I don't I don't remember maybe sixty thousand points so there was a cheap hotel. I think in Bangkok or something where we completed the promotion. Both of us we would alternate check. Ins and we. Yeah one day in Vienna. We checked into almost every I g hotel and Vienna because there was a big sale and that was when they gave a free night for completing the promotion and I re- redeem those free nights in Bora Bora so as well worth earn cheap redeem expensive for someone who wants to sell everything and just like live is a nomad for three months a year. What do you recommend based on your experience like what was the easiest and cheapest place to live well first of all almost every country's cheaper than the US like if you go to anywhere in Asia especially nowadays with the US dollar being pretty strong? Oh yeah so. Do you recommend Southeast Asia. I love South East Asia. I mean I love Elev- everywhere that's kind of different but I really love Southeast Asia. I guess if you're working you do need good Internet. So places like Bangkok have that Eastern Europe is like the Asia of Europe where it's really cheap. They have really good Internet much of Eastern Europe. Where have you been like almost everywhere? Where do you like Albania? I love Albania and Bulgaria in Bosnia. Like those are some of my favorites Slovakia. Only a little bit. I've been abroad slava but one time I did a motorcycle trip down the Danube so I've got to write a book about these experiences final question. You're in coach on an airplane. Three seats do choose the window or the isle. I like the window. I think I think it depends on if I feel like I have to get up for any reason or the person on the inside is going to get through the assessment. Yeah I don't I don't want to have to get up the whole time. Definitely I'd much rather look out the window and see the landscape even if it's a long flight and you're going over the Arctic. It's still cool. I still enjoy it looking out the window. Same drew macomer. Thanks so much for joining us. "Research. The first I'll be lynch intellect. She's not a white country artists. I'd that's attract. She's a little more than that but then they'll like you know we're all in love with her. While she was so such an amazing your form again was that what I think. Two two years after that. She wasn't toying with L. When she was out on the road in front of people instead it was her agenda sources her guitar. Yeah in how to be nothing else that Yup told me what she says. The last time was actually this year we went to see your city winery again. That's a great venue bed dinner. You know of course. They're blind date they make their and it's also very intimate venue where it feels like my holidays like a show than you were space. And he went into these intimate. Sit Down Join me you can have I here to enjoy performance and again she's just off the heels of it's not dark yet sort of so this very reason. Yeah did you just this past summer. Actually also Sasha's anybody to go she's announced to Oregon next As far as says coming in commercials and Summer Twenty Twenty is looking forward to cross fingers Chicago. Yeah but yeah. It's definitely something if you want. And if he wanted to show experience you know all the musician and all the sound pieces of equipment. That's what you like. Then you need to have this is not for you but if you one really good to know someone charge and and get to know you know. She has a very large catalog yes. She's reading herself. I didn't know what she chooses. Just to give you any performance. I I only have an hour and a half to me live. What is she wanted to say? She sings from shelby which awesome. Yeah well she loves to doing turn the volume down the Line Caja record too so it is definitely something that you really get to know. Inner Shelby why she's about amid it's there's no like I said no earpieces guitar and it's plugged into heaven. I said Yeah I loved. It's so beautiful. I mean her her beautiful singing to different. She's she's just all about. I mean I'm only duty in fact I jimmy giving you me what she does then. She said she was done. She walked out into the lobby talking to be able to talk to you. Yeah Yeah did you remember you know 'cause I'm just joking earlier I've I'm sure she has all three shows. I shouted out and play dream some and she did mm-hmm so like after you shouted in all fraternity close. Yeah well the first sign lighting. She did right after she went to me and she played it. You know. I'm hopefully not her as stripper. Dreams Napster by Sangram thing. You should who I it's only gonNA be your first dance it will visit is it's a it's maybe we go so much so sweet yes so what are we were I it's hard to pick us on lease like but there were a couple of my kids. Get those yeah so most of them for me or called. She's Sir I I. I don't think I want to talk about. I think it's just interesting to note. Is the fact that she won the Grammy Emmy for best new artist night not a small thing a lot of people considered quote unquote. The big four record for J deal is always. We're GONNA be with us. Oh 'cause you only be nominated once so you can with the three big major all category Grammy Awards but one of the big ones specify. Okay whatever worked for some people you know Mariah Carey Down Duly and it's worth less for other people like yeah but for this one for shelby was still talked about yeah. People in circle still refer to the grammy because again she said Sunni six seven. Six six dollars what we knew she wasn't anyone anyone who is also like didn't Portugal. The man win last year they were nominated but also in that one four another fifth album nominee was away because they finally had a hit with stacy's mom for their albums before then but it was the first to do the grammy's Eddie's whole fight is like the first time someone's in the public you know cards cultural prominent exactly which is why would she took the stage. She said well so great to invest you artists on the album elbow people have released retained by that too because it's just like Yep nope. This is kind of ridiculous that this is happening but I mean she stole that Grammy Having winner. I mean that's the only thing she's ever won grammy wise which is not like the you know the indicator of career but still. It's just such a weird little cultural woman that she's a part is I think she would be great to win more stuff. I don't think it's important to her. I'm using. She's not worried that she hasn't won more. So I have a thing. I WANNA toss out here. Something that's talking with Sharon. Because he shockingly. Anyone heard the main cash knows that. Turn and I were not fans of love shelby. This overpop- was raised eldrick. Perfect for you was one of the things that are part of the thing about Jesus on a Greyhound and some of the other songs on there was just like such a sharp turn of saw rating from ihop limited like an even sharper. Turn when she kind of course directed that knife in identity crisis. Because like. It's just like what happened with this batch of songs. What what is it about love? Shelby couldn't August three four different albums right in five years. Yes and I for me. I just don't successive. I WANNA put it out here. What what about the idea that now that she was in the spotlight she won the grammy and now she had the time to work with the last four separate user did she self sabotage lake? She's career yeah. She's had a little bit of a aversion towards like you know full blown like mainstream success making making strides okay because because she had been part of the machine river for years so she wasn't specifically trying to shield your tame to by working with the machinegun. She is just literally think that this was achieved liked the music of the the time she looked at herself as a possible incoming pop star. She was like well. I won this best new artist grammy. Let's give this a shot. You know. These people want to work with me. I like the sound. So let's let's see and then it was pretty much critically panned and you know fans liked it enough but a lot of fans of IM shelby. Lynne didn't and then that's specifically why we got identity crisis because she is like I thought this is what you want it. I thought I wanted and apparently no one liked it. So what am I. Now you know. And that's sort of why she tries on all those different like the bloop the League Classic Blues Structure In the Classic Balanced Structure and and brings us. And it's like okay. Well if you didn't like this. Is this what you want from me so I don't I don't think it self sabotage joined. I definitely think it was just inorganic growth of her as a career as an artist was just like okay. This didn't work. Let's see if this works better. I feel like after a Chevy win. They probably felt like well. The next step is to keep just to go further in this direction. I've had gotten more people know who I am. Now I did producers on to help you make this sound even or like the pop album that they won't Louis B. and here we are and and people that I endorse didn't resonate very well with her fans. I liked it because Dance pop guy apart. Let's just I felt like it was to me. I won't say it was like what's your candy for me. I just felt like it was a very lush album for whatever ranking like all the marriage artistic work that is one or two or three. So that's why afraid right exactly but it's still like it. Yes but I can again begin of these three succession. It's to me. It's so striking I I think it speaks to her talents. They couldn't be any more different right there so so strikingly dissimilar to each other heard she never she never made another one like it again. All of the others like I would love to see your try and do a pop album this day and age just to see what she would interpreter which you and made it as because they village energy just as much more level of experience than it'd be interesting you remember when Joel with hearted today as Po Goodness Roleo how the show we are like I said what the fuck is she doing this can do. She worked full games I wage. She's this sofa away. Rebirth of.
