So i will follow up. Worse for that after this primary is testimonial i so i know suggests the summer game challenge yet. I did not finish any of the games on my list. I know terrible between work and have my sons. I just didn't have the time instead. I spent a majority of the summer teaching my kids how to play various games on the switch because they're at the age where they want to play video games so of course i had to begin teaching from games. I took a hands on approach whereas others kokomo and let's go navy screw picture. I left them to their own fate. I gave him the slightest of hints and overall told them care. Training catching poke among was on them and them alone. But when i did buy time. Boot up the capcom arcade collection and beat this along with giga wing. I've five with track. Not only from the beep but also goes on in the background while playing level. You're literally fighting on a satellite that's falling towards the earth and burning up in the atmosphere while you fight progressive. Those completed some of the challenge. It's an interesting because like is ill burn ruins right yes so like these three has had like multiple ports translations and whatnot and of course that means also different comb versions of this track. The version i played was on the turbo cd. Yes and they were one hundred percent on the news. They were like. This is the ill. Bird ruins burn. Yeah which is pretty funny. But i'm very happy that i got into it since i found myself completing east three wanderers from ease east four mask of the sun for the super nintendo. Both of which turn out to be very charming games packed with great tunes. The tune is selected. Here is quite typical of the east soundtracks that unfamiliar with with fire melodic approach that to my ears resembles across between judas priest and iron maiden. "Native steps up as the goat in her sport steps out the face of the summer Games. Most popular sport made a stunning decision to drop out of the women's gymnastics team final. Simone Biles had one disappointing appearance on the vault and then told reporters it was not an injury. It's been really stressful this Olympic games. I think just as a whole not having an audience. There are a lot of different variables going into it. It's been a long week. It's been a long Olympic process. It's been a long Year Without Biles. Russia's Olympic Committee took the gold medal. But the United States still earned silver thanks to the efforts of Simone's good friend and training partner, Jordan Child's 20 Years of age from Vancouver, Washington training in Spring, Texas along with some miles these days, And boy can she explode off of the table very similar to Simone, Watch how high she flies right here all big Jordan. Simone urged her new friend to move to Texas for pro training. She did so after high school and found joy in performing for the person who matters most. Once I realized that idea to stop doing it for other people and start getting it for myself, that's when I was like, just be free. Have fun with Jordan. Blistering Heat Wave Continues to Bake the Pacific Northwest
"Wouldn't want to hear any of these words in the weather forecast historic, dangerous, prolonged unprecedented, but that's exactly how the National Weather Service chose to describe the record breaking heat currently being experienced by millions in the Pacific Northwest. Want to wait in Tacoma, 1 13 around Puyallup, the South Hill grams at 1 10 Kent, Auburn about 1 11. Same thing in bottle and like I said, Farther east, you go Edmonds at 104. Monroe wants to homeless 1 10 to 1, 12. I mean, these are outrageous. These are just absolutely outrageous numbers for here. That's K I R. O s Nick Allard with the numbers for those close to Seattle. It got so hot that at one point, the U. S. Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, had to be postponed as the trackside temperature closed in on 150 degrees. We'll get into the summer games later this hour. But first Jeff Barrett Deli is the meteorologist in climate specialists for CBS News on Twitter. He's known as at weatherproof. He joined us earlier today from Central Park in New York. And I started by asking him what meteorological conditions have led to such extreme weather. Yes, so the meteorology behind it is pretty interesting. Very wavy jet stream lots of undulations in the jet stream and basically, it's elongated from north to south. So when it does that it slows down, everything slows down. The whole pattern slows down and we end up with kind of a blocking scenario in the atmosphere and There's a very specific block going on right now in the Western U. S. And that's called an Omega block and an Omega block is a pretty textbook block. And really, it doesn't allow anything to move. So what happens is the the hot air kind of pools. Intensifies and circulates around. And right now that happens to be located across British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. And so it's just sitting and spinning and intensifying. "Do up but dep- but but listen he's listened to about this city from jet set radio on the sega dreamcast that was performed composed by the rats as foreman and sheena forman. And you didn't get to hear it. But i got to hear pronouncing the whole song front. Back whole it's weird. That's a prime example of how attracting just get into your head. Because i've never read the leash to the song you know. I've never i've learned to a late. I will say. I listened to on headphones before but like never read the leaders. But i know the whole song beginning to end like i feel like if you didn't give me like an actual sound to golf might get will us but hearing it can get it can carry. This is this is this is this is cornell karaoke booth like oh no this. I looked over at the camera. And you're like you were jamming to the song you're into it. It's one of the best songs in that gained everyone. Everyone talks about super brother. Super brother is a great song. it definitely definitely all the hickey not gonna tracks are fantastic of love like a humming to the beat or coming to the is so good so good but this song. This song is like the summer song. This is a summer jam. Yes i believe. This is the i remember this track play on a level you get chased by dogs like the first level dogs. You're like running around net shaky town on the docks de stage yes. It is getting chased by the dog. That that's one difficulty. Really ramps up because they are like homing in on you but So i i did a lot of customization in this game on the dreamcast. Because i took advantage of making my own tags on was that the american or is that only in the that wasn't both versions right. That wasn't it was. It was in both of them. You upload tags your amu Had a first came out. I did have a rip of of the japanese version. I played a whole whole bunch. But i got stuck because there was some kind of weird glitch and one of the poison. Jam was the chase sequence. There are some of the bosses in this game. Was you're tagging rival gangs and the way you beat them. We hit the spray paint their backs three times per gang member until you knock them out but poison jam and the japanese version. I'm not sure if it was only ripped versions or if it was across the board affect people adding was. I think it was only for like the ripped versions. Because you know. I was again i measured but one of the characters and the team had what's called a perfect grown which is he never he would grind across everything across the level non stop. He never failed and the only way to catch him was by being just as good as he is which most people play in that game. Were not oh no. I mean like even like if you were fantastic. You'd have to be so perfect to catch up to this thing But so that's where i saw but anyway it caught my attention. I wanted to play it so so so in fact it came out to the state's got an american release. I was just weird name. Jet grind radio. That's fine is the same game. That's all that mattered to me. Was christmas trademark trademark. I think it was something else. But i think this on was still in the game and by played a whole bunch with the customization like because he can make your own tags and it wasn't drawing like a had a whole thing where you can like actually type out words and mess with like three d. of it and then change the how it was all like like how like graffiti is all like wacky and stretched out and all that and twisted can do all that stuff within the game. It's i made a whole bunch of custom tags and just the the whole game with my own stuff. It was the like. Have if you're familiar with beat sprite construction. How you like how you edit it down to the pixel level best pretty much how this could do with the tag like if you wanted to get intricate. You can drill down to the actual pixels are changing colors and expanding and tweaking them around. It was it was elaborate for a game. Yeah i you can do all sorts of crazy stuff with it. So i i spent like probably spent as much time with tag with customizing the tags which i didn't realize this is kind of a theme or because i was customizing doom and here i am customizing jet set radio if it goes it just goes like this this is this is the rob nichols success. Story like what created rob nichols just plain lake constructing things in game. I like video games but nobody. This song is on as s bird. Super-duper summery sounding in do up. Do up. I'll think i appreciate it as much when it first came out because i had the soundtrack. Now listen to cds tapes in the car but the By always enjoyed more of like electronic songs in the hip hop songs. But now i think i appreciate like these songs a little bit more. I just i just love it all ties attached to this game and then add drag because apparently you know the kids loved on me back of course dragging the fit into a game about japanese skateboarder skating. Punks yeah counterpoint. They included jurassic. Five and drastic five is like i mean if there's going to be a soul like like american food yeah there's going to be like another like side to this story like jurassic five fits in that thing you know if it wasn't going to be them who is going to be. Tribe called quest if tribe got in this game to help awesome. Yes probably i feel like. I remember all the tracks. Because he added dracula the has five track. The added just got wicked by coal which also didn't fit into the game now and yet somehow did for the new stage the added specifically because they added area was dark new york city time square everyday caught grind square sooner being attacked. I like l. helicopter shoot missiles that you had missiles like a very dark place in attracts call just got wicked till like you know now. Kind of fits somehow with this stage. That was so so difficult because it was so vertical but it was so cool to look at that like once. He figured it out like it was worth doing so neat. This game was very rewarding. Okay so now we are onto your last track of the set. All right so this is another game came out fairly recently. Cut the follow a trend with a lot of my games. Like i have my own purchased games that end up in the backlog and there are a number of them that are on my total summer completion list short but a number of my game ended up being gains. I started out reviewing and really liking them beyond normal. Here's a review. I gotta play more of this beyond the love the scheme and mrs another one of those where i love it and i recommend it to everybody but definitely to missile. This game is called smelter. It exists on steam and xbox and i think playstation and switch have it is will this track is titled all that remains.

"You're listening to Doom for the pc from the ad-lib sound card. This is bobby prints and the track is kitchen. Ace and taking names and for the record for those who didn't pick up on it. That's not quite the title but rob's doing the thing because you know we have kids listening. That's how it was title. But i haven't there's so many soundtracks that doom. It's hard to know what's what to be honest. And that's fine and someone who's more versed in june. They they can tell me. But i kind of real title fraud. Maybe the tongue in cheek title could be all right so doom right so i played wolfenstein whole bunch in school. You know on the pc's and stuff like in shop class and study halls and things like that and so my friend henry growing up. He grew up on a farm nearby. And i used to hang out there and we used to play in the orchard and his uncle had a bulletin board system of bbs system which is amazing to me. Like so we would go up into. He lives up in the attic of this old. This old house and we will go up into the house and it was just full computers and old stop and he was he collected like dungeons and dragons fantasy books from the seventies and he ran. The bulletin board system called the pc pub in wilmington back in the nineties and he was like hey rob. I just downloaded this game. You and henry. You gotta play this thing. If you like wolfenstein this is going to blow your mind. And i saw this thing. And i couldn't believe like how it looked on the screen to me at the time. Of course it looks like it's ultra realistic but like the idea of a wolfenstein game but it was like really dark and teacher ristic and like extra violent was really exciting to me. So that's what i did. All that summer was was getting doom. But then i think there's the following summer the summer after that I got a cd of like remember even see in Like software like walden software or before it was they used to sell books that was like hack doom or make your own. Doom was like all about like making your own levels and stuff. I honestly don't remember. But that's only because i didn't get into computers until fairly late. Compared to other people like i used to play the french houses exclusively anyway. So i would go with this book for christmas that was like how the hack doom and it was essentially it was a it was a a cd and a whole guide on how to pick apart the game and modify the game to make your own like stages and stuff so the have like cummick software for the purpose like actually customization dooms map customization software on it essentially. That's what it was. So i could go in and like create my own sprites and creamy on facts. But i wasn't about to do all the extra animation. I wanted to create levels and stuff so i got really really really into understanding how the game engine worked and how to pick apart all the files on how to create stages and create lighting effects. And all the stuff that wasn't the original game into my own little levels and play around in them and so i feel like doom like kind of got my interest in the program and sparked more interested into game development. So like that's why. Do you say you partly pretty much attribute your current interest in this whole thing to doom partly. Yeah that in like basic programs for back in the day and seeing a the older brother of a friend of mine create like weird like three d objects and engines and things like that with incubates. It can be like. Oh i can do all sorts of math and things and these things but this was like i can actually lay out levels layout geometry layout where enemies are going to be and that that in in cnn piece it together and see it in real time it was. It was a lot of fun but then again it wasn't exactly real time back. Then it was. It was like it took forever to like decompile the whole game create your stage and then recompiled the whole game and then play it. It took so long it took forever. It took forever. It was a project the project but it was fun. So yeah nowadays these kinds of games. Don't super interest me. Yeah we're playing horizon right now. But i'm not about to gone. Pick up like a run and gun game. Because i can't keep up with. That stuff is like i lately. Like i'll do reviews for that kind of stuff and i always think almost want to start with a caveat that says look i'm not sure it's an old man worse. My tv or the consul amusing. But i i have these gripes with this game like i just reviewed again collect necker monday or something and you're typically gunner s. Ps game to it. Got to the point where i was so bad setting up with enemies at a distance the i just malay killed everyone. Yeah rob stab. 'em keep moving. We're having an issue with horizon. Where like i'm christie gets kinda nervous like one. There's there's lot of action at one time but unfortunately in this game like you can sneak around and like hunt and antique things out at a distance. It's like we're going to get really good at doing that. We're going to get really good at sneaking and not being caught and like just to induce taking our time with this type of game but zuma's you must different. Dum dum dum. There was no aiming it was just left and right and you just turn life you turn right and you to shoot and i'll tell you that was needed has definitely changed since those days to Do me turn with the last one. I came out right. And i put that on hard more like a complete idiot. And that game was wrecking my day. But that was also why is good for a good existed to compare against the game. I just review. Because in that one. Though i wasn't a perfect shut when i was in a panic. And i was running in. Dodging and gunning. Oh man was dropping. Those sniper shots pat powell over the place and it was like whoa so mass. Still got it. But at the state. I'm of course. The big debut can give a little balance. Because i guess it's the waiting render games now. It's a little weird on. The is the screws with you but for the most part still got it. But it's not as easy as it used to be. S for donors shore like man. These guys are old cels. Just appreciate more and video games. Yeah i've played enough. Yeah i like. I like the first person shooters i get what people enjoy them. You and i get that the skill involved in playing them. But i just can't do it. I played a what was that. What's that apex. Legends was the last one. I played on the ps four. And i had fun. But like i wasn't going to go back and play it and like try to get good at it. I'm glad it was free to play. Because this is not the thing i'm going to get into you know so So pernell we're onto your second track right. Yes sir The summer of the ghosts of present continues on with his rampage in the form of a game. I've mentioned on the show before. But i'm term to ask you see more of it than prior times because i really like it but a really screws me. Mouse's pro for those in the know in this game. Labyrinth of refrain coven of dusk on the ps. Four in the switch.

"We're getting started on early on the summer of sixteen bit sixteen but this is totally eight. Bit eight bit yes. You're listening to hone island from the legend of zelda link's awakening for the sega for the sega. By stay gameboy. I look forward to playing that. Nintendo game boy composed by katsumi sumitomo. Paca menaka hamano. Yeah this is what this is one of those games. That has only a few only a few tracks. That are a little bit longer. Everything else is kind of short shorty tracks. But there's just memorable like this one in tau heights even the intro this is this is tons of remixes or at least a fair number of them. For gameboy game. Yeah i actually would have picked that. If they haven't played it previously on the show tau heights is my favorite one of my favorite. Gameboy ga- gameboy songs and overall. It's just takes the theme of this all the game and just amplifies. It makes really adventures. Get to that point in the game a little bit more than halfway through and you're like really exploring at that point. I think you get the hook shot after that. And it's it's awesome. That's super cool. So yeah the the the legends. Although link's awakening was like my first real zelda game. i never played the any s one. I played with the second seconds of the game but didn't really feel other and then I never had super nintendo. So i never really got to play. Linked to the past. The past right into the home was very similar to that. And i loved it i. I picked this game because we would go on trips to upstate. New york for camping ever almost every year and it was long drives in the car with a family crammed in the back seat of a station wagon. And i would play this game with your night. Go bendy light and our just. This is what i looked forward to. Oh going to be so many hours in the car. And i just. I wanted to see my goal was finished. The trade the trading of fetch quests like the side quests within waking what the yoshi doll for the bat find risk thing letter to trade to somebody and the guy can't dog food detroit to the alligator and They remade this right. For the switch. No gameboy cow. Yeah you're right. They did it for the game. We'd call a first right and then they remade it for the way later. Force the switch and they gave a kind of more of a cartoony like like nine hundred cartoon because like a diorama. Yeah it looks very much like like very well. Artistic dia romp emotion. Yeah i wanna say awesome screenshots. And i was like it looks really really cute and i hope it plays the same way because like this game is just i feel like it's just it's not really. It's not really big. It's just a perfect little like this is a funds all again. This is a fun adventure. Game little secrets to find and fun just to get into it really. Just he played yet. I got into no no no reason. The link of is perfect. Missed that you end up. I mean i've played through multiple times which even back then was a fee for me but the play through it. I did everything but the secret. She still see shit secret seashells by the seashore there. There's the hiddensee shells around the around. The island yeah. This is realized is up ton of them and then the other thing this was terrible about it was that they designed in a way where you had to bill the see show house every five or ten of them in order to get a new c. Shell that reward you for getting a set of five or ten. So if you didn't go back at the interval save ten you came back with eleven it would go over the marker where you'd get reward for the seashell get it which means you are officially locked out of the final reward which was like the beam sort. It was really annoying. But what i realized that later came back and play the game again. Cool sword was happy so that was good but loving also found interesting to me. That you mentioned a gameboy game in summer. Travel is pretty cool because i was having a conversation with someone just earlier today. We add early this this area a couple of days ago or made you yesterday. I remember we had a really bad traffic situation. People it was gridlock for hours. All around was waco toxic chemical spill really band right about that. And then i saw your post and i was like i got caught in that thing. I was so and it didn't hurt me too much so much aside from the idea. Of course like. I was hoping my boss wouldn't get on my case about it but if they didn't i didn't care with the only dock my pay i can deal with it right but the order was i'd be so annoyed if i wasn't working from home that this is awful and i was like can you imagine what it was. Know what it was like before game boys and self bows with like internet access getting stuck in traffic and only you had access to was like whatever garbage was playing on the radio. Timing gasping your family. Who do you do but like now like you're stuck in traffic. This check facebook already kotok. Who were about three times or you. My local news like there's as long as your phone has juice in it. if you're in gridlock. No no its nuclear robert up to do new billboard day. You get new billboards. You'll see that one billboard billboard blacken our so this give something that move english muffins you you got it mr billboard billboard news all right so cornell. What's year i. So you're you're playing games that you're gonna play this summer. I am the ghost of summer present. Plastic summers no this. Summer's present. we are in. This is simple. I guess technically summer hasn't started yet lady Then it's definitely a future. no. I'm playing all these games is just i gotta get through them as my summer games because i started the mall and i've been playing them all. I gotta finish the mall. Sounds like work. I mean like you work. Is we know what work is anymore. I'm just doing but with me. Just bounce around with game cells to get. Well yes yes. That's what it is stuff. I'm so confused. I am glad. I have started all these games in some capacity but i want to finish them and since that i always intended to is just sidetracked but this is my hope that i will focus on them and knock the malcolm like the february thing but with more games rolling year period of time. So i'm going to start this off with a recent new release new as it came out last week. But it's a doozy. If a goody this game is called avalon tiers of the earth and the track is for the gorgan tomb area of the game.

"You played breath of the wild that plays a lot like that. It's a lot of just you can just make your own story. It's a lotta fun okay. So this week's episode is similar to last week's but it's more personal so bench. It is the summer games on. What the heck are we going to play or try to play over. The next few months keyword is try because hits comes at your hard and fast for what i do and i think one game for the for the next few months so what i did was. I picked a kind of an astrologer fast history of my summer games. Summer hasn't happened. Just your basic already accepted how. You'll be lucky if played through play one game at least in the past summer thing patrons did yeah yeah. That's what i did. That's why i did. I did a few of those. And then yeah. So it's kind of one of those twenty. Rob rob is the game of summers past. And i am the gamer of summers present. We have yet to find a gamer of summer. But i'm sure they're out there somewhere and they'll have some pics another. I don't know where where they never gonna stop. Although it's going to be honestly this point out as long as a certain company are certain companies. All games are on the tables guys that are calm and it's not a resident. He will not so much just so sad. Anyway i just said the words but like my first track. I'm gonna pick today is from the legend of zelda link's awakening.
Xbox Is Coming to Your TV Without a Console
"There's been a lot of video game news lately but some the caught my years was that microsoft is looking to bring its xbox game pass service directly to television. That's correct the xbox game pass ultimate subscription service which you can of like microsoft's answer to video games as what net is to movies and tv. It costs fourteen ninety nine a month and currently gets you more than one hundred games on. Pc's and android tablets and phones all without an xbox console now microsoft says it wants to make the service available on more screens including working with tv's and the company is working with tv makers to embed an xbox experience to internet connected devices so basically if you have a tv and a good internet connection you can bypass the three hundred to five hundred dollars. You might spend on a console and have all your games stored in the cloud. This would certainly seem a great way to expand the xbox audience brett. I mean not. Everyone wants a console and right now not everybody can get the new console. They want because they just aren't enough out there. By the way cloud gaming could be the future games as google and amazon. Both app services running now and playstation has playstation. Now service that lets you stream games on. Pc's in addition to its game consoles amazon. Let you stream on. Pc's max amazon fire tv and on smartphones and google stadia streams games two. Tv's it uses google chromecast but it also streams games to various tablets and devices so. It's not a giant leap for a tv to have an app or a bit of software bill inside to do this. Yeah absolutely and it's interesting too because they're gonna also introduced a couple other ways you can Play xbox games. Microsoft said it's also building devices to connect just for streaming game so almost feels like a roku or chromecast but just for your xbox and it's also going to have browser gaming so you can play games on google chrome safari microsoft edge in the next few weeks. We're likely get more news from and xbox before e three in the summer game fester over because there's an xbox in but does the showcase coming up so keep listening in the days ahead as we'll break that down for you
Elden Ring Revealed, Launches January 2022
"Well elden ring was originally revealed. Eighty three twenty nineteen but since then from software has been very tight lipped about the whole project. You know we knew it was going to be a collaboration between hit tack on me. Zaki and george are martin going to be the largest came from from software. They attack oh today but we knew little elves leading to a drought of information with some wondering if the game even existed at well. That doubt has been removed. Because elden ring now is a trailer anna release date and is not too far away at all with the long waited trailer for elder ring showing off at the summer games. I two thousand twenty one. Which jeff keely almost willing up when introducing it his great to say because he's really passionate about what he does and also this is likely to be one of the biggest triumphs the season so he was visibly chuffed again to announce his abandoned. I'm co is publishing. The game nate do presentation of their own during eighty three twenty twenty one so we could see even more details. Watch this space about that one. I will let you know if we hear anything else but banned co did release more details post trailer and here are a few things that we learned about elgin ring. This is apparently from softwares. Biggest game tonight perhaps highlighted with the horses. We something new to from software games and now the games we've always walked around on for however this time we got hoarse and looks like we can fight on horseback as well as jump super far in the sky as one of the most memorable moment for in the trial is seeing that whole sleep vertically at speed on a jumping pattern given we got horses feels like the land we traverse could be really big indeed something on the scale of the which you three or the ghost of tsushima so from software games tend to feel like open world games but this is a little bit of game they've trickery with smaller zones connected via loading areas or in the case of demon they've got a hub world l. d. ring is much more of an open world fielder things test can be really exciting to understand how this is gonna plant now happen done really well and so badly two of the last few years. I'm really interested to see how from software tackles this
Video Game Fest E3 Kicks off With Starfield, Elden Ring Teasers
"We kind of kicked off the holy three week. This morning jet lease summer games kickoff. Live happened was followed by an hour long day of the deaths presentation and we did prepo shows all around that so was lots of talk about Going to be a great show will definitely talk about the death surrendering director's cut. Definitely die out. Tiny tina's wonderland's but first let's begin with l. During which was finally finally for all the souls weren't fans out there that have been dying information on this game. When news is old eld l. Escape was revealed at the microsoft press conference. I think at the last three twenty team and the the fan community for elden elden ring has taken it upon themselves. To just basically invented a bunch of laura on their own Love it very cool but now now they don't have to do that anymore. Their work is done and we know what the game is. And it looks it. Looks like looks like dark souls game yes jeff. Goldblum mean when. It's no secret that most of us aren't here like a souls born fans. But i think this game looks awesome and as amazing creature and character world designed just like all these games do and just like i was set grow i will. I will absolutely dive in and make it as far as i can. I mean like from from soft like yes shirt like. I don't need to be a fan of the style of game like appreciate what that companies accomplished in like the direction that they've pushed video games over the last decade and it has been so long since that company missed like. Oh yeah you know. Even souls two and three i don't think are quite as revered as the original like sacramento and especially bloodborne like a lot of people that was their game of the generation and they haven't released a game in three years like elden ring is a the next one. It's their next big thing like it's not a it's not a bt working on it it's like this is the game that zaky's been making for years now and so i definitely understand like the hype and the froth demand for this one.

"Listeners. Stephen miller and it comes from the game front mission. Three army base of front mission three with attract new title army base. And i think it's kind of cool bet. This is the final track because we're coming full circle since the beginning of the show we got really deep conversations about british games. Which i really telling myself. I should go back and play more of what's it be nice if the square would just revived them in a way that they weren't slow paced because that was like the one detriment that i had to those they were so slow but they were great I'll read the testimony because it's only fair is a good track. It deserves to get the word out to. So stephen miller says a few of my summer games were playing long ago. Or we're playing long-form rpg's with my best friend games like zeno saga champions. Nawrath my personal favorite game of all time front mission. Three completing both totally eighty hours in just a few weeks. And just me saying this. That is an accolade. Because holy cow. I actually find most of the soundtrack to be fairly forgettable. But this particular track always man stick in my head listening to it. Rack right man at different page. Listen to it now. It kinda reminds me of the military. Means that plays in the guys dylan movies and tone as always a hope you guys enjoy. Well guess what we did enjoy. We very much did this internet. And that one. I combat check and or like my favorite tracks from the game. Hands down some really this this. This is fantastic. It's so many so many good tracks. Happy with every submission like but this is also why. I really like when people go all in on their submission because flat out the state. Eat if we don't put it on the show for that episode because honestly there's just more tracks in there are slots we listen to all of them we do and i'll admit sometimes you've like how much pick like this bras. Like that. one and testimony. I suppose especially good so like and that's part of the fun i get excited about is like when we pick our own tracks. Were picking because we're like we're excited about them right. Works at about the music works out about the games. This gets us to know what our listeners are excited about. I agree a hundred percent and it's a lot more varied than just the province cornell show and asked large part of like where i admit like well i'm not in the mix i it's just how it is like i i. If people were chatty about stuff. I want to get in on it. I like talking to people friends and fellow gamers about what they like to do what they like to play. I talked about what they experienced in the game. If you right to rhythm pixels chat or in like discord blake. I'm playing a game and fighting. His boss is giving me grief. I'm ago were boston game. We're talking about. Give me some dates. And you go on your whole diet charlotte. This is just such an anti picnic. There's like five hundred damage. I'm gonna never played the game in my life but to me hearing someone or reading someone enthusiastically described a game experience. They had it makes me feel good. I like hearing people do really up close and personal with their gaze as opposed to what is kind of become for a lot of us which is a video. We've got so many games. That are coming out with such a rapid pace. It's almost like recycled one and done like i got this game. Wanna play through a check. The box move on an esky. Play the gate. Check the box. I to go back and ask you so. Tell me about that game. You play three weeks healing leveled up a lot. I completed it. S all right now this game though like it's really cool to hear people really get into. What their playoffs. And i love it and that comes out in the la of these testimonials to because when we like. Here's a topic. It kind of the goal ultimate to get you guys. It'd be like. I really want to think about this. What would i pick. Sometimes it'll be just like. Oh i have meeting the game i want to pick for. This is just perfect and then you submit it like this. Is that game. I play with my brother all the time. We got really big to throw to my friend's house over this game like that's the good stuff feel so good thrown out of my friend's house because of this game what happened. I'm sure it happens. But yes keep submitting. These things is keep doing it. It's just fun is fun to read. Your testimony is funded. Listen to the tracks admission. It completes the the submission right adds some story context to to what you're sending monmouth. "The n sixty four composed by very like usaa. I don't know this was this. Was this for the san francisco rush universe. so what. I remember in stephen. Correct me on this. San francisco rush was the one i played the death on before and that was meant to be like running through san francisco. Crashing through billion played that. In the arcade ton rush. It's this one. Dropped the san francisco and it was just like a rush twenty forty nine. It was like a futuristic version of. Just how even think it was. A specific city was multiple city. Yeah but that was also arcadian. That played a ton of rush. Twenty forty nine. So is this one based on rush. Twenty forty nine. I'm guessing maybe it is. But this is where. I'm hoping stephen miller steps because like i'm filled with rush nine rush to extreme racing usa. I almost want to say that was like keep in mind. This is for folks like us who haven't researched it. A part of me wants this was actually like the home version of better on the by do also remember there being a rush twenty forty nine home released so now. I'm not super sure arrigo. Thank you came in rush. Twenty forty nine was the third game. Fast was okay. That makes sense now. Because i remember a two thousand and twenty forty nine came out. It was so unusual. I was like. Why did we go from racing in san francisco to racing in space. Why is the real question. Michael bridgewater that information about the amiga. Please email to me. i would love to hear it. I'm really you don't have to post the whole thing of the chat. I'm really curious about that. So we know that barry lights was keen in the amiga demo scene or maybe just in that that world of composing music on the for other games. And so there's some crossover in the file formats and how the music was composed on the amiga and how the music was composed early ported it onto the sixty. Four top on that really fascinating. Thank you very very much but The rush games San francisco rush San francisco rush the rock or that one. I remember that maybe it was like add onto the game where you can make because remember the movie the rock with with Sean connery yes. The brakes alcatraz alcatraz right. That was really popular. And so everything was all that alcatraz you gotta you gotta rush out of the is all through the driving through alcohol through alcatraz however they made it but it was kind of cool but it was really a big deal when i was working at fun. Scape the arcade back in the day because one it played a lot like crews in usa except there was tons of shortcuts. You could find and that was really exciting forever. And he's like oh. I can cut through cut through there. That was the main thing cruising was missing a to had a little keypad. So you can actually put a code and keep track of your car and your your high scores or okay and three had a clutch. You actually like like a standard transmission with the with the manual and you had a break in a gas and he had a clutch. I gotta say. I don't want to drive clutch in real life but in a video game is so much more fun to drive. Stick shift over automatic. Because you've got that whole head or burn if you don't think there was any advantage to it though because especially in this arcade style like just pedal to the metal good. It just feels good. Because i've played a lot of the initial d racing games where you have to hit the gas and the brake at the same time in order to read the engine. And i'm like game could have benefited from having a clutch pedal also from me just standing behind the side of the machine river. I'm sure the audience would love that. Oh oh yeah well you know. It is part of the charm of the show for now. I for five ninety nine per will come to your arcade in just stay by the machine and make revenue. It'll be great barry. What do i have a good time. But we have a we have a testimonial written by stephen miller most of my summer games were multi-player games. That were played with my friends. Such as rush to myself and my best friend spent a summer trying to get the highest score possible on the stunt track of the game many exploits in stage breaking glitches were used in many laughs. Were had that's cool. I like that like spending spending the whole summer with your friend just trying to break the game. Honestly that some of the best aspects of gaming that has been long since lost to the analysis of time which is why these this summer games topic feels so good to me because like that's how it was read like growing up there were like small windows in there where i did have specifically refers that would play games with me and like present like streets arrays to we'd be like played. I played that game more times. I can count with my brother into neighborhood friends. Yeah san francisco russia's before we played that to death cruising usa show. I'm star wars the empire all those earliest. We'd still hanging on weekends. And i'll be like back in like junior high or the seventh graders. Sixth grade we used to go to these sleepovers. My friend andrea says house all because they hang out in his bedroom or in his basement just playing super nintendo beat em ups like all day long all night laws over and over and on. They must have got bomber man street fighter. Overdose it just dissolve. He loved we. Loved mario carpet bomber man in street fighter. That was that was the thing that was like the best thing miss. I love that car bombing. That was the friendship killer and bother me too because super barman to it may have been one. I didn't play much of one supervisor. Meant to introduce the gold bomber. So when you won you got a gold bomber outfit and you got gotta default starting power that no one else gotten by at the beginning of state so not only do you start a little bit more powerful. But you're like marked as the gold bomber everybody to target and being me. I jammed into that hard core when people chill catch me. I'm good circles roller skates. She would rub it in their faces. Why not start targeting. Me and i'm somehow still winning. I gotta gambetta. This is what i do. Like cabinet up ended up anyway. Thank you stephen miller for something. This track this is my jam. I love the drums samples this again. It's got that definitely definitely has that That old school prodigy vibe to it especially right now is the section also. I'm going to try on this list. If you didn't pick it for your last track. It should be the injured at least okay. Cool alright pick it like. I'm cheating because it's almost like a gimme all right. Well we're onto your third or fourth track. We'll find out. I'll review after. Pick this around your third track so this track comes in from listeners. Sola sanctuary from game that she's been gushing about quite a bit over the last few weeks and it really makes me want to break up a blessed ds. I'm just really denying as far as like sorting out a time but guide. This is like bali. Play your games printing. But this game that she's a big fan of is called me topiary. it's recently released. Intend switch and the track tyler. She met submitted for that game. Is the boss battle theme and is composed by toshiyuki pseudo. Shinji who she wrote up. Yumi me takahashi and.

"Welcome back you're listening to wind batteries zone. Act one from the game. Sonic mania composed by t lopez. Along with what. Everyone is setting the chat. Because i don't wanna shot submitted by listener fred to last rican so this track so sonic mania for those. Who don't know is like a sort of celebration of classic two d sonic so they use new stages but also some classic stages blind batteries zone originally appeared in sonic and knuckles and it was originally composed by. Who wasn't you remember. He said the nathan tire. Okay and with sonic mania t lopez did pretty much the entire t. And he did some new tracks but he also did his own personal touch some classic tracks for stages that reappeared miskin. So i've always been a complete sucker for flying batteries on like asti fits into my summer methodology to because this is one of the first games i excitedly played. Second channel came out. Because i couldn't afford sonic and knuckles black shorts plan on sega channel. So it was nice that make a return in this game as well and of course seeing it on the tracks of russian lists pick it. But let's talk about what the last week about he says so. This was the first game. I beat last year during my summer. Game challenge this arranged version of flying batteries on act. One by t lopez is just the best plus with the announcement of sonic colors coming to the switch. One can hope for site game as good as this one for maybe as pernille always says casanova generations to nose regardless joy the summer my people and let the summer game challenge began and they does maniacal laughter. I'm not doing that. But i can. Just picture that. He's laughing maniacally email. It says ben cornell maniacal after must do it honestly get sonic and this is one. This is one game i download. I was excited about. Because i have a lot of i have a lot of nostalgia for sonic games but i went back. I just i. i couldn't couldn't stick with it some spend more time with it. I'd say try that and see how it hits you. But i can say i relate to what you're saying because and that's probably why thinks onic generations worked so well from because people would always waxing nostalgic how much they love sonic games and then when the three gays were coming out. You were like nah. He's terrible go back to the tutti game which of course ultimately led to getting sonic mamie. But i feel like sonic mania ultimately ends up adding what i wanted for masonic gain by a actual sense of the speed that sonic is capable of producing the platforming challenges can still be done right if they do it. Right in those. It's not just whole home. Whenever i like the music and then styles that comes from those. Yeah yeah at all the original music. And all the remix tonic. Mini are so good But like once. I got used to playing three gays and then going back to the two geeze. I realized that i was always comparing sonic to tomorrow to and for some reason. I just don't get the same sense of accomplishment exploring to sonic levels. I would from a to d mario wound. Okay i kind of get that. I think i understand. You're coming from because we're stopped playing was a stage where there's a lot of like loops and the game like it was almost like a measly either kind of find your way out to the other side and i just kept getting lost and i'm thinking like i guess this is kind of exploration but i'm not getting that same kind of like thrill of discovering that i would say camario mario game because like you figure where the mario say for example. This is gonna sound like this is my like black before a lot of folks. Buy say in sonic. You might find an electric shield. As i'm murphy. Brought all shields backing me. I think they did. But you can find the bubble share. Let me shielded shields and three. Were like one of the best. Oh that was one of the best gas stations in it. Yeah but they're mainly for fun like they can help you get around and stuff but they never really felt like by having the shield i can do this thing that i couldn't do get me to the spot with a mario game. You like okay this zone. If i had the raccoon lead i can fly over. This wallraff gives me to this war zone area. That takes a whole horrible environment. Or i found the secret. Yoshi egg that gives me. The blue was more is the full experience. But with that said though like sonics daily sought a sonic. I was one of those guys who called in a frigging hotline because they couldn't get the barrel to drop on the carbonate zone and i'm not ashamed to admit it because a lot of people had that problem but i mean was i played a lot of sonic still place on what i just generally feel like over time. I ended up realized. I just prefer the three d. Which is pry like why mania while while it was fun. It didn't hit me like say generations. Dick generations blended the two. Yeah it was nice. I'm wondering if i don't like three d. ones do i just not like any of them anymore and that might be the case. Maybe i've just moved on from sonic and that makes me feel sad. Say play generations before you make play play. John's way generations. Before you made that claim. Because i think that when in colors were the best three d sonic. They did all right all right. We're whole but don't play forces because yeah okay so if i'm going to go to one generation new generations so i'll stop playing for some document here. We're going to pick our next track. It came from stephen miller desert. What kafer beneath the desert. He came from stephen miller occur. Throw stephen miller. I got a comment on this. Because i feel weird like nick nick walker has i have dumb nostalgia for unleashed on the we with proves how on the salary is. I'll be blunt when unleashed worked. Sonic unleashed for those who don't know the sonic game where sonic became aware wolf. Just really silly such a silly concept using a remote no no wagga least. I played but he had rubber arms punch stuff and backdrop enemies and stuff when the game worked. It was fun. I i actually play in completed. Sonic unleashed and had a lot of fun with it. It was just main issue. That game had for me and says mick walker was the one that brought it up. I'm curious what he thinks of it. I felt the wear hog levels while fun. Were just too low. Like i remember doing one. Where the clock hit like thirty minutes which should not happen in a sonic game ever ever ever and also it had rooftop run which is probably one of the best levels ever created by anybody. I think we've talked about that on the play some music on the show before you brought rooftop run to the show. That's right played the living daylights out of that stage. Th this next track is not rooftop. Stephen miller the track is called high role. It's from the extra tracks within rush to extreme racing usa for the n sixty four and this one is composed by very much for leach or. Maybe it's lech. I it's probably could both.

"Remember driving somewhere in bear. Gay collectors bucks collectors box. Yeah and that was a pack of all. We drive out of our way for awhile somewhere. Specific fit some cards. I m playing persona again. Since the last time we recorded this show which is good. I'm playing percent of our account. My what our count. My our count. Yeah hello how. Many hours i've played. Yes you just ask me. How many hours of. I know i gotta gil nerd. Techy like sixty seven sixty eight. Oh i'm not surprised. But then again i guess the endgame does ramp up. Yeah yeah. I'm assuming. I'm about halfway which i mean. But you're saying that i'm close to be halfway. No no no. No no just discouraging. You're over half with my problem. Is i grinded for stuff. Okay and i also played on hard so that would take a lot battles. Were hard like i told you like the level that i thought you were on. I did take me all night to the casino. That was only one app or the one after that. Yeah i mean. I i might have to spend some time. That's the thing like i. I don't know if other people are this way. But i really like to spend time with a game rather than being like. I only have a half an hour. I only have a half of coca persona to spend time with you. It's a law game along one. Yeah it does. Take some time. I i am still enjoying it. I'm still playing it so me be says. Oh michael ritual says he's close to finishing persona four. I question that. Are you really close to persona four. I say that because depending on where you are. There's an event where if you don't do it exactly the way you're supposed to the game stops. Oh well so. He might be close to finishing he might be closer to finish. Thanks oh wow but it depends not discouraging at all but it's not bad it's just that's just how designed the game like its. You'll know the part where you just have to safe falls essel. You'll know you'll get you'll get there. Always have a question right the right into rhythm and pixels at hotmail dot com. We'll help you personnel cornell underscore persona help persona helped blowing. Yeah at persona helpline dot com. Oh my god okay he. He's he's during the relevant things right. I'm glad to hear that. I mean it's been enough time. People know i've heard the last percent of the game was i three. And our call that one had like a proper endgame condition versus just playing through it or not. But i don't think if it did. I never found it because like i finish these games like that was a fantastic experience in that. Put it away. And i'm doing and i'm john new game plus i don't know i mean come on. I never ever do new game. Plus the way i mean the way i play games. It's just. I've already spent the so much i didn't. I might have spent the same amount of time. You did playing the game. Like i in game hours right but over the course of much longer so i feel like oh if i ever took me two years to complete this game. I'm not gonna spend another two years to finish it to fight one bonus digital game even though it's not over all that mess him amount. It might be the same amount of game in game hours. I don't want to go back and do that again. There's so many other games to experience hundred percent for that too. I have games on the stupid switch here. i'll never play. I just have them. Because i feel good handyman. And because he liked buying massive storage containers and putting a ton of games into it. That's right i'm thinking about just the switch though. This is gonna be the last system. I do that for the digital horder. I am but this is the last system of doing it for. What do you mean. I'm done like you're done. Hoarding gains not. Don't why you gotta phrase it like. I'm done collecting gangs. Okay so the switch will be the last system. I do that sort of thing for why get review goes. That's one thing but as far as gone on and be like. Oh i just want to have a decent size library for this console done with it because gaming collecting quote unquote has changed so much. It has changed during my process of collecting to own your physicals anymore. And i'm getting older to the point. Where like i can't reasonably make that claim of make time later to play this because i need that time to play my physical copies like you need storage for all that stuff. Yup my storage is getting way up. Yeah so would you say would you. Would you ever be interested in a game streaming service. Would you ever do that on. I don't to say that yet. Because i will say like there was like a new at the at the next megaton game came out. There's a brand new megatonne game now to pursuing a game of megaton game that's to be right and what if that was a streaming service only Well depends. I could see myself playing it that way. And then cancelling when it was done what if eighty percent of it was a gotcha game and twenty percents pachinko. What had already existed. I didn't play as the heck with that that was de accelerate. Dx liberation and. i wasn't doing well see. I'm just making jokes. And you're like note that exists that actually exist. And i did not play proud. That's very funny but people made some money off of that idea. Well actually actually actually love pachinko. Let's let's start. Experiencing some tunes can dig so we asked our listeners and we asked our patriots subscribers to send in their tracks elections for their summer game experiences. Through here's is my word of the night they came through in spades some good. I'm really really really pleased. We've even got. We've got a selection from justin schneider. Which which is. I don't know if he's ever said anything before. Yes i feel like everyone submitted justice on that podcast right. Yes of course he. He does that one podcast about movies. Oh no it's current events. No way now he's like a shock jock right nah ocsta- like strippers and then like get drunk. Why do you gotta make this out to be worse than he is. His name is justin. Schneider he's awesome. Yeah let it be absolutely absolutely let it be. All he ever does is podcasting now. he's he's off from his jail cell stomach although stuff that so. This is an odd numbered episodes. So we're going to start with you. L. and why don't you go ahead. and well. i feel like. I have to go with this one first because of all the tracks that came through as far as like again keep in mind. There was multiple interpretations of how this topic was received. This was the summary est submission that we got and it clicked for me very well. So this comes from michael bridgewater. This was from the game wind. Jammers and the track title is flying power disc. It was the theme of the beach. Court stage released for the neo geo arcade and console of course could hear the same thing pretty much composed by cgi hamadeh and tomo..

"My name is rob nichols. I'm every week. We listen to great video game music from all consoles and generations. We pick a topic refined a topic and we pick music. That fits that topic. We listen to the music and we chat about it and we we talk about everything else. All the greedy. And that's the show everybody pretty much you have. Obviously i like that aspect of the show. It makes me feel like made me feel good. I don't know. I like. Even when i if i'm not getting much conversation in other in other areas like you know 'cause works like hit me hard or wherever and didn't and hanging out and just gabbing on here's feels greg's louis catching up shooting bee's knees. I can't even talk that and like games and stuff at my job like i try every once in a while and no one was talking about talk fitness at work. Airbus like this donut. And it's like okay. Well that that doesn't help either. Yeah yeah everyone's like. Oh man what are you doing this weekend. And i was like well you know i was going to sleep in and maybe go for a run. Run run was something chasing me usual. I run to the local bar or the bathroom This week We should say that if you are a member of our patriot a patriot dot com slash rhythm and pixels. You get access to a monthly livestream or we record the show live in front of a live studio audience. There could be one or two zombies in there. But honestly i feel like that would be quite a selling point based on the timing of things and the time zones of where people are located the might become zombies later on for sorry michael bridgewater but this episode is yeah is recorded live with an audience and that's just how we do it once a month and our topic is the summer games and of course i think just from when i was reading through Suggestion i think everyone had rubber think everyone took that differently too because like when we announced it was like games of summer like some people think took it as these are summary games like this is like totally a summer game. I've heard some seen. Some people take it as the original intent which was like games you would be playing during the summer. Like in like retro time and i'll be anybody submitted a track from a game. They're going to play this summer. Which was the other aspect of it inspired by the summer games challenge. I was wondering maybe like some of our patriot. Members were teachers and suddenly they have like the summers off you know. And they are lucky. Boeing brother had that feature like he's not a teacher but he worked for school so when the schools close he gets the same benefit of being closed out with pay. So it's like well. There's a couple of months off. You have to do anything. What are you gonna do vacation vacation vacation. Second now i guess what i would do get extra money. He goes on vacations. And i get paid do that i pay. That's been my whole thing a lot lately too. I've been living this life like i do. My views like heck. I just wrote my first review and probably two years even i put it off because i review so many gay for. Snl never the time to write. But i did a review for a asha monster world for. Hey poor play recently and it took me hours to write twelve hundred. Words like is insane. How much you just gotta keep doing it. Man it's it's It's a muscle you a practice on but it came out well. It took me forever. But i did that. And like i'm still getting my reviews in But i've been getting like really obsessed with the idea league. Earning money earning money and it comes in a variety of ways. Like there's the frustrating the stock market. I hate stock market but then it comes in weird odd ways like discovering that you have garbage pail kids that are worth a lot of money like one that i won't sell because it would break up my set. I came across a duplicate and stuff now so series one garbage kid. I've never personally purchased a store. Like i when i was collecting them. They were already off the shelves. I started buying them round series. Two three okay. So i always wanted series one so around like aids like seventeen or like maybe early twenties ebay was just getting off the heavily off the ground. I purchase a series oneself. Some guy online when everyone thought were worthless and unfortunately one of them or two of them had like holes punched in the corner. But the guy that tell me why would you punch a hole in your stupid cars. The point is so. I have a set of series one car. But they're not pristine so the set wouldn't be able to get flipped for tons of money however some of the more popular. 'cause like there's like a vampire garbage pail kit and the trademark. The guys blowing had opened with a button. Yeah the big leagues and recently one of the power was which was like a pristine great from a grading system is for over ten thousand dollars. And i'm looking at my copy. I'm like well is not a ten but it sure is at least like a seven his might be flipping goal is to consider selling but even still like for some dumfries. I love my gosh. Show kids so much. Like i can't say by this this guy so you're probably looking at part of parts of their collections of being. Like what what could you do away with. Because you're just going to drive yourself crazy looking at things that you own that are like oh it's worth so much but i can't part with it by did find one thing that came out of nowhere. So two thousand. Fifteen was the thirtieth anniversary of garbage pill kit cars and they put out thirtieth anniversary. Say now at the time i purchased two boxes of hobby because my brain was thinking i would need at least two bosses a complete a set of court. I opened one of the boxes toward the packs. Open like oh yeah. This is great but then never got around opening the second in literally forgot ahead bass border to the president. There was a michael jordan documentary on netflix. Yeah it's called the last dance. I didn't even tell you know. It was caught new michael jordan getting connected to garbage bill. Got one of the cards. The thirtieth innovation one of the cars of the thirtieth anniversary set is garcia brocade of michael jordan dunkin a basketball with his tongue. His name is mad. Michael and then the other one's called jumping jordan. But apparently that card is now sought after because of michael jordan being brought back up on the spot over a garbage pail came from michael jordan. I gotta have so. The individual card was selling for one hundred bucks the base cord which is not the hard to get one either. It was just now going back to what i had. I have an unopened that unopened. Second box which i went and found by accident went to lebron i went to lucy patty doubles of the michael jordan card and that box. A card sells for like a thousand bucks. So it's like do. I open it and complete my set of thirtieth anniversary cars. I just say screw it. Thousand dollars is hard to say. And then i have other like gosh kids that might fit or similar mobile. If i go flip because it got a gold border it might be worth a couple of hundred bucks. The whole hobby is so weird. Gersbach has a big mistake. Because you were just. You're just collecting them because he likes them. Exactly you're like. How many can i just want to keep up with a hobby and just have them and enjoy them. And you're probably at the height of your collecting of them was before they were worth a lot of cash. Exactly i.

"Now for a very special bonus. Discussion is bill from the tree house. It's always great to see you. Bill grid see you. Chris and d'alene parnell the founder and ceo of play versus. Thanks for joining us delaying. Yes awesome to be here chris. We're here to talk about the new partnership between play versus and intendo But before we get to that delaying the founder of play versus. Why don't you tell us what your organization is all about. Yeah absolutely so play. Verses is a competitive gaming platform were high school and college stage gamers compete in the only place were gaming qualifies as varsity athletic in the us and canada. That's awesome. I was just was around back when i was this same great now bill. What can you tell us about. How nintendo is getting involved while we've been in conversations with play versus for quite a while and so we're really excited to be able to announce the partnership finally Play versus is going to be bringing super smash brothers ultimate and splatoon to to their high school seasons this coming fall and that means that high school students all over the country. Us and canada are going to be able to join teams and compete against other schools and potentially earn varsity letter in in super smash brothers ultimate platoon to so that we're really excited about Mario kart eight deluxe is going to get added in the spring. Know and for us. This is an important next step. Is we continue to look at ways to increase and expand and kind of diversify our support for competitive play across a number of different nintendo games. That's awesome as for people to join in and d'alene so what do you think about being able to add these titles to what play versus has to offer we're super excited about adding nintendo ip. You know a lot of people around the company grew plant smash. There's a lot of massage around the the ip specifically ip we. In fact have a smash league internally. My team is hopefully different runner for this upcoming season. We're playing our seeding games soon in. So yeah we're we're pumped about it. Miss a big part of our everyday life and you know it means a lot to be in partnership with such an iconic brand nintendo. Can you talk. Maybe just a little bit more. You know for people that maybe aren't as plugged in like you know what the experience would be like if people are able to join in and and what you know what i don't know what a seasoned might be like. Just kind of how it progresses short and so we have an official partnership with the nf nfs. Which is the national federation of state. High school athletic association's they govern and write the rules for all high school sports and america and also our affiliated in canada we partner with their state associations there's typically one in each state with state associations we roll east sports down to their schools schools can build programs. Those programs stretcher costs many games and reach as many as there's interest at a particular high school Couple of key points. There is that You know typically football team or basketball team may have roster limitations and east program does not is also co ed. So it's the first time. And you know traditional sports activities where blazing girls can compete on the same rosser side by side and other separation that competition a would compete in two four months seasons every single school year so one in four one in the spring each season features a preseason a regular season and postseason There's a certain amount of matches that you play in a regular season. Best teams qualify for the postseason. And then they compete for either a state or regional championship depending on which market there in in. It's a ton of fun we've had now six seasons we reach roughly forty three percent of all high schools in the country today and kids. Are you know Really passionate about being able to display their talents and we're excited that they're able to recognized for them the other thing. That's really great about this at least from an antenna perspective. One as the programs you know. They are their base there in the school. They've got coaches from the school. That are overseeing the programs and and helping the kids Kind of you know through the the season and the program and everything for us you know we look at splatoon to and super smash brothers ultimate and we see those two games in in a couple of different positions competitively with platoon to there's a. There's a core kind of competitive community but it's can be hard to find opportunities to form teams and participate. And i think this is a tremendous opportunity for people. Who are you know have played splatoon too but i've never actually competed on a team to to find and much easier way to form a team and start getting active competitively. We all know super smash brothers has a very devoted and passionate Community that that Has really strong competitive seen But even what we've seen is that There are a lot of people who play smash brothers who might never make the leap to you know participating in a tournament and particularly for kids on the younger side of things and their teen in high school years this becomes a great way for them to participate at a level of play that is commensurate with sort of their own skill level. They're they're not going up against people that have been competing for years and years and years for a long time in the competitive scene. It's their chance to kind of dip their toe in compete and get a taste for that and then and then we'll see where you know. Hopefully we'll start to see more and more players coming together and and getting an interest in playing smash brothers competitively that way. I think it's also great because You know at the same time because of these these high school team structures. It's a great way to for kids who maybe won't participate in traditional high school sports to kind of a place where they can have a similar type of experience and and build that camaraderie with with team as they're playing on their their local high school team competing in super smash brothers ultimate in splatoon to.

"There's a lot of cool stuff out there that will give you even bigger picture of what These are gonna offer just going to that list with you. I'm just just noticed. Like if you like japanese caves in particular. Rpg's the the summer of nintendo which is going to be extra treat for you. Good one yeah absolutely for sure next one moving onto players pulse and just a few days ago like normal just for fun. We posted three poles on twitter for nintendo fans. Answer and the first question we asked was if games were real. Which summary destination would you visit and the options that we gave were isle delfino which people remember from super mario sunshine outset island. Which of course is were linked starts his adventure in the legend of zelda. The wind waker wuhu island. Which was the location for. All of the we sports games and then Your island animal crossing new horizons so Stephanie if you had a choice of visiting alfie outset island wuhu island or your island in animal crossing your horizons. I mean visiting it for real. Which one would you choose. I strongly considered outset island. Because i just love treasurer and there's treasure all around but my animal crossing island can be anything. I want like. It could be halloween all year round. And that's just you can't beat that animal crossing all right. Well let me just going to go ahead and say that the The top vote getter from the fans was actually al delfino. At thirty nine percent island was second. Animal crossing was third so But overall a pretty pretty even split after aldo fina which which got a pretty big chunk. They're nice to the next question. Was who have you mostly made me characters of an choices our family and friends celebrities or bizarre creations. S- anthony just speaking for yourself. Is it when you make a lot of me characters. Does it tend to be family and friends celebrities or just something weird and bizarre. You know family and friends. I i make i make those often because just you know kind of like the first thing that comes to my when you're playing but i would say probably like the bizarre creations are more of my alley just because you want to do the craziest things you can do in the game and make the wacky est scenes and scenarios you can. So that's that's my choice. I don't know what the people said but buyer eyebrows kind of stuff yes any. Nfl crazy makeup. You can add to when. I made waiting in that online. Waiting room to play a match. In mario kart eight deluxe. And i'm like how did that guy get a giant ant on his face and dissecting the pieces okay. Those are the eyebrows bizarre creations. Actually the fans agreed with you anthony. That was the top both here at forty eight percent. It's pretty close. Family and friends was forty four percent and then celebrities just eight percent so it's either family and friends people you know or just whacked out crazy stuff like you said you know. You gotta get grandma's as the bad guy in there too. Sometimes the dark lord for sure all right to the final poll was just title alone. Which game sounds more interesting famicom. Detective close the girl who stands behind or famicom. Detective club missing air. Either one of you. Which do you think it you know. And you've probably you play these games by now but if if you're looking at the title which one do you think grabs your attention. The most well. I mean i'm just going to go on a limb and say i feel like the girl who stands behind his has less of It doesn't really tell you what the story is. All about as much as the missing heir may be so i would probably say girl stands behind but stephanie. What do you think going just on. Title alone I think the girl that stands behind us and more mysterious intriguing titles side. I'd probably have got for that one. If i didn't already play both of them in no i would have to. In fact that's the game. I started with. Because i found the title so intriguing and the fans agreed. They chose that one sixty percent to forty percent for famicom detective club the missing era so still not too far apart considered and speaking of those famicom detective club games. We are now going to move to nintendo power game club and we're going to talk about famicom detective club the girl who stands behind and become detective club the missing heir. These both just came out on may fourteenth. And i had been really looking forward to them because you know it always heard about the original games that came out back back in the day japan and late eighties Which never came over here and famicom of course means you know it stands for family computer. Which was the name of the nintendo entertainment system in japan. And actually the original versions of these games came out for the family computer disk system which we never even got over here so it's really cool to finally see these these remakes come our way so fans like me over here can finally get to play. You know this missing piece of nintendo history and so we played the game but before we dig into our conversation. I wanna start just by sharing a couple of comments that people made about the game on twitter. And i'm going to start with skippy. Who says you know. Beat the missing heir last night and bought the girl who stands behind right. After i've never played murder mystery games before and i'm having a blast now might check out as attorney after these and then in 'em said wasn't expecting these games to have such a gripping story the mechanics are smooth and to the point that i loved guessing who the killer was especially when i was right also the music is so good and i love hearing the older versions of some of these tracks to it. Know so as the comments kind of described These games are murder mysteries. You know this platforming action just deep stories with a lot of twists for the player to investigate and puzzle out so stephanie. I know you really got into these games. Described them to people who've never played something like this before Well first of all. I love that the comment you read This was their first foray into the john. Mara that just makes me so happy. That people are still discovering for the first time like visual novel or adventure games. Because that's one of one of my favorites. And i think the best way to explain it would be You kind of touched on a little bit that you're playing a character and investigating the mystery but the biggest like interaction part for you is moving to different locations Talking to different suspects. And you're the one who's basically clicking different selections on a menu of what you're going to do and how you're going to interact with what you see in front of you whether it's clicking the talk button to talk to who's in front of you or a call in to get someone else's attention that's offscreen taken item that you may see on a table things like that. Are the ways that you actually interact from game. Play a perspective and it's really about moving from location to location and meeting a huge cast of characters to understand like what different characters motives might be are the ones that may be committed the crime and You've got this handy dandy notebook that logs all that information for you as you progress you can kind of piece together the different Clues that you've you've gathered. Yeah you know one thing that you talked about many of the ways that you interact with the game something that i kinda learned as i was playing it was i mean you can sit there and kind of spam every option like you might have a a someone that you're talking to and you're questioning standing right in front of you and if you want to you can like you said you can. You can ask them all sorts of questions that might be a whole list of topics you can ask them about you. Could you could decide to examine the area around that person or even you know examined that person themselves to see if you can catch any clues and you can't just sit there and kind of goes by option. Just click click. Click on it and kind of being lazy in a way and just until something new pops up but i found the game really starts to flow and pick up in and and you really start to succeed win. You're really thinking about okay. This guy just mentioned this person so even though he he didn't say much about this person. When i ask before i'm going to go back to this other option and the talk menu and ask about the again. Now he's gonna say something totally different so finding the right way kind of through those those. Those dialogue trees is kind of part of the fun of it in. You're playing best when kind of approaching it like you would in real life. You're not trying to outsmart the game. You're just trying to think if i was really questioning somebody. What would be my next question..
"summer games" Discussed on Nintendo Power Podcast
"Kind of with with its mouth horizontally horizontally or vertically and you can have to slash in their direction. Defeat it so. I found that to be really satisfying and kind of a fun. Kind of action puzzle element that they've added to the game but of course now with this new version. You can still do Motion controls if you like using a joy con controller or you can Use buttons and and the way that they've still used buttons but kind of mapped the sword controls specifically to the right stick is really interesting so that allows you to easily kind of flick in any direction and still kind of like i said interact with the game. In those ways where it's you specifically have to slash horizontally vertically or daily and But but using it You know with the stick instead of motion control. So i'm interested to try both out and kind of see how it goes. I did really like the motion control specifically for using the bow. And kind of aiming your arrows and also aiming the the claw shots. I think they were called. So i think there's definitely advantages to both styles and then i saw you know anthony were posting about zelda and left wing amoeba figure. That's going to be coming out for this game as well and you know. I'm an amoeba fanatic collected every amoeba so far and And this looks like just the detail on it. In and out of the fact that it's my favorite iteration of zelda. This is one of the ones. I really can't wait to get. Yeah if you're if you are a one a big fan but a collector of amoeba this is. This is a really special one. I mean like you said. Just the detail You know. I kind of looks like there's like to abo- like on one you know so it's kind of cool and yeah you know. I just visually aside from You know kind of using it. But i think just usually it's an awesome one to just kind of add to your collection. Yeah and then of course if if you use it You know we put a trailer out explaining this. But it can allow you to work back and forth between the land and the sky areas from any point Which will be great and kind of handy. I will say that there are plenty of save points in the game and say points is traditionally in this game where you're allowed to work back and forth between so you never that far from his safe point so as not certainly not necessary but definitely nice to have you know if you've got the amoeba to be able to use that analogy so i just can't to play the game again with all these new features. I'll be really excited to hear what you guys think. Being able to experience a game in this story kinda for the first time all the way through. Yeah i think I think. Definitely like i'll have to try Using the motion controls. As much as i can because Having not played it originally but having lots of friends who have like i. I've heard that you know they enjoyed that part of it. In that it was the way it's inc is just really clever and fun and You know i'm just curious to see you know how how it all works. Now that i've i've played plenty of games that use motion controls now but I'm definitely curious to see just like you know how great it really is so Yeah i'm definitely going to try that. I probably yeah. I think definitely going to do the same. I like to get really invested on play in tv mode. For games like zelda. So i think. I'm definitely gonna try the most controls i that's awesome. It's the opposite for me. Because i've already played through the original version of the game with motion controls now when to try the button. But i'm definitely going to try them. Both out the story chris as this one being one in particular that really stands out to you in the series and i think that's one of the things as drying me into not wanting to miss it this time around because i've just i won't go into spoilers of course and how much can i go into having not played it but i just seen some really interesting stuff about the master sword origins. Being something that you can learn about here in this game which is just so cool as someone who's played so many zelda games over the years so i think those are the nuggets that I'm really looking forward to and i experienced this game. Yeah and you know without spoiling anything myself. There's you get to see kind of the origins of a lot more part of the zelda lower in this game as well and you know the thing to keep in mind. Is that in the time. Line of of foolishness zelda games you know. I don't think they're all necessarily on the same timeline but for the ones that kind of our This game actually is the first one. So this is this is Technically the first leg zelda and when you when you experience it it really gives you different perspective. I think on a lot of what comes later on. Have really looking forward to that. You mentioned the metro and we talked about the golden. We might the but did you wanna talk about the fact that there's also going to be new shiny blue joy cons release that totally slipped my mind. Yeah i'm trying to picture them in my head right now but they have some cool designs on them right. Yeah they're both shades of blue but they do have Gold accents on them. Send this a little. Bit of a a throwback to the original. That's great and you haven't splurged on you. Joy konin awhile. So this might be where i actually chris after all i did get a brand new golden we remote controller with the original version of the scheme so got to keep the the trend going. Chris needs all the things exactly all right to later in the summer on august. Twenty seventh We're finally getting no more harrah's three. I feel like. I've been looking forward to this game for a long time. And you know of course game. This game is being developed by grasshopper manufacturer who also developed the first two games On we that. I really enjoyed and you know these games have a crazy kind of rebel spirit to them. You know they just have such over the top action definitely m. rated action by the way and but it's an all out actually game where you complete missions around town to earn money to enter these ranked battles and your goal is to work your way up through the galactic superheroes to stop an evil prince in his ten alien assassins from taking over the earth. So right away. How can you not be interested in a game where that's what's going on. Yeah i when you say it sounds pretty wacky. But it's just as wacky as you say. It is.

"Japan's started a vaccine push ahead of the Olympics but he may be too little too late that's the realization sinking in the sopranos scrambles to catch up on a frustratingly slow vaccination drive less than two months before the Summer Games now the Japan of doctors union says the Olympics history coming in incubator for what they call a Tokyo variants as fifteen thousand foreign athletes and tens of thousands of officials sponsors and journalists from around two hundred countries descend on and potentially mixed with a largely unvaccinated Japanese population with infections in Tokyo and other heavily populated areas company at high levels experts have warned this little slack in the system I'm Charles de Ledesma
