Music from Russian Operas
"Hello I'm Naomi Lewin welcome to classics, for? Kids That's the pollen is from Modesto oxy's Opera Boris, Godunov, today music from operas by some other Russian composers. They call me Kyle Glinka, the father of Russian classical music. You hardly ever see Glinka opera Muslim and Ludmilla, but you hear the overture all the time. Well at least loosely, Ludmila has been performed. That's more than you can say for some operas. Lada flopped twice the first time a Russian theatre s four different composers to collaborate writing a combination opera ballet that Malaysia was never performed. Then rimsky-korsakov who was one of the four composers recycled the music he'd written into a Milonga of his own that Lada lasted all of six performances. If you've been Mada is a funny title. Sergei Prokofiev opera called the love for three oranges. The love for three oranges is about a prince who finds the princess he loves inside an orange one of three oranges. Love is a big problem for the title character in an opera by Tchaikovsky called Eugene on Yagan. A girl named Tatyana in love with you gene on Yagan but he doesn't fall in love with her until it's too late and she's married to someone else the two of them always seemed to be meeting up at a ball. "sultan" Discussed on Rock N Roll Archaeology
"Nineteen. Ninety. Five. After that everything. I could find mark knopfler basically by all accounts. Including his own interviews. Just came to despise being famous essentially. And the demands of fame and all that stuff and just prefers to be out of the spotlight and just be like a low key solo artist. So he really has no interest in in being a big famous rockstar anymore I think he just he just hated it. It was it was a lot of a lot of pressure. I ruined his marriage and he's just kind of like I. Don't want any part of it. So and he he doesn't seem that kind of guy. He just seemed like a musician, right? Yeah. He seemed like the sultans of swing just wanted to play. Funny about that. With this swing where we're musicians who are not famous who are not professional. And that sort of apparently by the end, what he longed to be. Oh my Gosh So I forgot. A weird jump back but. I wanted to. Veg. Michael Mention that of course, this song was parody by rebel Vic. Yes and as Beverly Hillbillies and Michael Do you know. The stipulation that Mark Knopfler had for in for weird out to do the song. Well. I think it has something to do with the title because the title of the Song Is. Is it's money for nothing open prints. WHO's beverly hillbillies sprint right I mean that might have been part of that. I. Know The stipulation was Mark Knopfler you can do the parody, but I have to play on the song. L.. Mark Knopfler playing on the parody really. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. I don't want anyone else doing my stuff so he was like you can do it. I had to play the guitar part, and so he did so and I think there was a stipulation where he had to call he couldn't call it beverly hillbillies and I don't know if that's from dire straits or if that's from like CBS or some. I don't know Yeah. The song title but Yes. Unlike most rebel song titles issue. And featured in fantastic film. The best. Movie Ever Okay. So. That was that Oh yeah. So he didn't like he he's he's out of the spotlight and dire straits was inducted into the hall of fame in two, thousand, eighteen and Mark Knopfler did not appear at how so. It's about because let's be honest after weird AL parodies you. Like, do you really care about the rock and Roll Hall of Your reach your peak. Mark Knopfler didn't appear what about picking Muff. Nice they're having wacky misadventures. If I. Mean They were. You know they were trying to get away from that desperately. Dogcatcher so they they had their own problems. Yeah. So one of them had fallen into a river and the other one was running along trying to. Get into the log. So they could grads right by the collar and pulling back up All right. That is. Time for lessons learned, what lesson do we learn? From this song let's start with Michael Michael. Wood lesson did you learn from Psalms a swing? You know what I learned I learned don't quit your day job okay. I learned maybe you'll make the scene maybe you're not gonNA make the scene be like Harry don't quit your day job but if you love your day job and what if music and performing is like Oh, this is such an obligation that I've gotta do. You want you go to work every day. That's that's that's your. That's your creativity. You save that for Friday night. Yeah. Get it over with. And then move on to the joys of being an actuary about how about this Harry. Harry about this, how about these spreadsheets are the honky-tonk? Okay. How about? How about you fill these out? With jazzy beat. Okay. How about you? How about you? Put those fingers to work on the keyboard of the. Up. About that. Rachel. Here's what I got. If you are playing, it doesn't matter how many people you play for make the bar pay you something. So you can afford new equipment because if the all you can afford is an old guitar guitar. George it's in your name. Your name is Guitar George, you should be able to afford a new guitar. So ask for a cut of the well, don't ask for cut out the door because nobody's coming in ask for a flat fee until you can afford some new equipment. Or he saw the main easy drink right exactly or five fall. Harry's lead and get a daytime job. That's right. So Martha would be thrilled by that right? We're glad you know all the cords. But what if you knew shorthand right? Maybe that would help what if you knew typing but if you knew all the keys on the keyboard of the computer, then maybe you can you know get some more money and and buy some new equipment no guitar George Rhythm Guitar is not a trade. Trade Electrical Work H VAC, work those trades. That can be beneficial to you. Knowing all the chords does no good for anyone being very practical Follow your. Dreams guys always have a backup and other backup to the backup. That's right. I will say I aim low I just learned that if you are playing the sultans of swing. Role playing game. When you enter the Bar remember that you have to roll a six or better to give a damn about the trumpet playing. Pant. If you don't yeah, you're definitely going to not give a damn and it won't be what you call rock and roll. So that's right on the corner with the rest of the Young Boys. Yeah and then you may possibly get eaten by the Dragon. So you're going to. Be Real careful on that one. I'm going to have to wear like platform. No. Problem Yeah Yeah because I mean again, how are you going to run to the top of the tower? If you wearing platform. So you point is when you go into the bar, you really WanNa make sure that you're all sex or better because s is really going to hurt the rest of the game swing roleplaying game not very well constructed so. You got to be real careful on. Mattel. Right, that is why it is not played very often All right. Well, thank you so much for listening. "His real name is Mervin which is not any weirder. When? Did he guys this album was produced by Steve winwood brother. Do you think Muffin pick were best friends I hope. So does that is like a children's movie about Getting along. Yeah. Come on must our friends left us? We've gotta make our way across country. Muffin pick was made in two, thousand, five, and one of the dogs is forced by Josh. Hartnett? Some reason. Say Oh. Yeah Muffin. So Sewn swing was their first single and reached number eight on the UK singles chart at number four. In the US one hundred like I said during a tour of the US not long after Bob Dylan are there saw their show in La and invited Mark Knopfler and pick withers to play on his next album? That album. Yeah. That album is the somewhat infamous long train coming. which was still nineteenth studio album and was the first one dylan made after his conversion to Christianity. All the songs were about Jesus. So the album, the album was actually fairly well received people like the music but fans were let's say perplexed by. The lyrical content of the album. So is this pre or post electric? Way. Pretty Post Electric. Only. Seventies there's just so much. I don't know about Bob Dylan. Yeah Yeah. This is definitely one of them. Yeah. I what you mean on call Robert has six. Oh Yeah. Don't Robert I went down a rabbit hole of like Bob Dylan was on tour. He he was feeling very depressed somebody threw a silver cross onto the stage ninety, picked it up and put it in his pocket, and then he was like that night the physical embodiment of Jesus. Christ visited me in my hotel room and like and talk to me, and then I walked out in the morning a changed man and people are like, Oh okay that's weird but George. Yeah, so so so they played on that and then Mark Knopfler was like. Like call the was like. All these songs are about Jesus I. Don't know. Like I mean this is are good. I could play them but this is really weird. So. Yes. So so then after that, when did he go electric? Michael. If no famously at the like The Newport was like monopoly. Was a moderate to newport. Festival civil I think the Newport Folk I. Wish. I. Knew What Year was whenever that was? Yeah. There's like ninety, two, ninety, three. That's right. Yeah. No I think it's one even released. The song must be Santa Claus. That right. That's when he went up. Before that was all stick. Now. That's when he went sleigh bell. That's right. That's right. That's right. Yeah, also the way you say he went electric. Like imagine turning into a robot like I am now electric. The. That's now dealing goes electric. No. No. Unfortunately I wish. I have just been misinterpreted. Well I, stand corrected So. Okay. So then after that Derek Straits released some more albums had a few more hits Romeo and Juliet and private investigations, but I want to jump ahead. Tonight and eighty five. When Dire Straits released their fifth studio album called brothers in arms which included songs like. Money for nothing. So, far away and walk of life. So money for nothing hit number one. On one hundred. The album was the first CD to sell a million copies. The first. CD. Copies, and is credited with helping popularize the format. Also. The song. Brother, in arms from the album. Is generally considered the first CD. Single. Since it was given away at concerts that they did. And it was on CD so. For CD, single. Was Not commercially sold but it was a single on a CD so I that's amazing for single. So around that time dire straits also appeared at live aid. were. They did a ten minute version of sultans of swing. Drama God. And it's actually it's actually awesome and yeah, I'm going to listen to it right after this crowd the crowd goes nuts for it. It's great. Were they in the I'm guessing they were at the London. Show. Yes I think. So yeah, and and they do money for nothing obviously stink comes out and does the sting part Oh, that's right. Stink. Yeah. Yeah. So that's awesome. I didn't want to go too deep into money for nothing is. Not about money for nothing but right? Yeah. They also like they they were like, Hey, I I I in the studio I guess and like sting came in or whatever he's a London. Throats hanging around with each other and they're like, Hey, we wanNA play this new song we had We have called money for nothing and they apparently play for him and he was like. Son of a bitch you guys. GonNa be big. Oh. My God. This is great and they're like, well, but so good. Why did you six stuff on like Kinda more being jerks daring he's like you know what I will a fine. I will and That's how that APP you're on. Yeah. But I mean literally was like that was not planned for the song he he literally just was like, okay I'll do it and he went into the studio and just like saying a bunch and they're like we're going to put it on the song so. That's a famous story and that's why he has songwriting credit because he saying. To the tune of don't stand. So close to me I want my MTV. There Yup. That's cool. Yeah. So so the band I broke up in nineteen, eighty seven. Mark, Knopfler, wanted pursue solo stuff. He formed side projects and did things like our rate with Chet Atkins on an album. So. The break-up was mostly mutual and friendly. And in the years following, the band would reform occasionally to do charity events and things like that. So. Everything was was pretty cheeky. But. Then in nineteen ninety-one, the band reformed and released an album. None of the singles from that album broke the top twenty. The band went on tour and by all accounts, it was a miserable experience in. The magic was gone and. The band broke up to ninety five and they were all kind of mad at each other and five. Yeah. They basically we should have stayed broken up. This was fake. Whenever they were just like totally depressed for four years. Yeah I'm sure they had peaks and valleys but by the end, they were just kind of like this was a mistake and this is all for nothing. because. Like stupid. Album money for nothing right but they only released one more album and that time like I said, none of the none of the singles broke the top twenty and they just kinda petered out. And broke up in Nineteen ninety-five. After that everything, I could find mark knopfler basically by all accounts. Including his own in interviews. Just came to despise being famous essentially. And the demands of fame and all that stuff and just prefers to be out of the spotlight and just be like low key solo artist. So he really has no interest in in being famous star anymore I think he just he just hated it it was it was a lot of a lot of pressure. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Janissary Music
"I'm Naomi Moon Welcome to classics for. Kids. Let's start this show off with a bang. You. Know how? When a certain kind of music catches on whether it's rap or jazz or Latino suddenly you hear it all over well, all over Europe in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries you would have heard Turkish flavored music like this marked by Ludwik von Beethoven. A very reasonable question would be if Beethoven was German, what was he doing writing Turkish music? The Sultan who ruled Turkey used to have a very select group of guards called Jan Aseries, actually, jams areas, what the Turkish term for new army sounded like to European ears like most armies. The Janice series had a band and since this was a Turkish army, the Janice every band used Turkish instruments like bass drums, triangles, and cymbals when the Sultan of Turkey since January, bands to Europe people went nuts over the exotic sound of those instruments hey, couldn't get enough of Turkish. Music. European composers knowing what their audiences wanted to hear started writing. Turkish. Sounding pieces and even set some of those pieces in Turkey This is the overture to Mozart's opera the abduction from the Seraglio. Seraglio. Was the Turkish Sultan's palace a palace which he kept US sizable Harem of wives. Plural. Very poor. Mozart wasn't the only composer to set an opera in Turkey German composer. Carl Maria. Von Vaber did to and he even gave his opera a Turkish name. Abu Hassan. And Turkish sounds crept into orchestra music too. For Instance Haydn's symphony number one. Kendrick. Since people associated the sound of drums, triangles and cymbals with Turkish army bands that Haydn symphony came to be known as the Military Symphony. The best symbols in the world are still made by the same family that made them in Haydn's day the Zil jains, the name zillion is Turkish for symbol maker a Turkish Sultan gave it to the first symbol maker in the family almost four centuries ago today zillions live in Massachusetts where they make the symbols you here in rock bands and symphony orchestras. That's from Wellington's victory by Beethoven. After. The FAD for January music died down the cymbals bass drums and triangles didn't go back to Turkey those instruments. Oh, their place in today's orchestras and bands to the eighteenth century European craze for Turkish music of all the composer's latched onto the sound of the January band I think Beethoven did it best? My favorite bit of January music is tucked into the middle of the last movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. That Sound is a controversy soon, the lowest pitched woodwind instrument there is it's acting almost like a bass drum. Back when January music was popular, you could buy a piano equipped with a special. January pedal by thumping down on it, you could accompany yourself with your own personal triangle and drums percussion section. Unfortunately today, those pianos are only found in museums when both amodio Mozart composed his Turkish Rondo he managed to get the piano to imitate Janice drums even without a special pedal. That's Mozart's Turkish Rondo. Now that you know about the Turkish part to find out what a Rondo is, join me next time for classics for kids.

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov 2: The Tale of Tsar Saltan
"Nicolai Ski Korsakov wrote the flight of the Bumblebee for an opera called the tale of czar. Salt on actually. That's just the Reader's digest abridged version of the title. The full Monty is the legend of Czar Sultan of his son. The famous end mighty hero Prince Vida Sultana Vich and of the Beautiful Swan Princess and at that title weren't enough. The plot is one of the most complicated in all of opera them. And that's saying the tale of our salt on is based on the story by the Great Russian poet. Alexander Pushkin once upon a time. Three sisters sat around discussing what they would do if they were married to the czar. That's Russian for ruler of the country. The first sister said she would make a huge feast. The second sister said she would weave beautiful cloth and the third sister said she would. Bears are salt a strong braves. The was listening in on the conversation and promptly married the sister who said she'd bear him a son then he told the feasts sister she could be the Palace. Cook and the cloth sister that she could be the royal weaver. They were not amused pretty soon. The newly married Zarina or Mrs Czar was expecting a child but before the baby was born her husband had to go off to war after the czar left Arina had a baby boy known as the Czarevich or son of Czar. The CZARINA sent her husband a message saying that they'd had a beautiful healthy son but her jealous sisters substituted a different message saying that she'd given birth to a monster when he heard that the czar was very unhappy and sent back a message saying not to do anything until he got home but the sisters intercepted that message to and substituted one saying that the arena and her son should be put into a barrel and thrown into the sea because this is a fairy tale not only did they survive but the boy actually grew up hour by hour as the barrel tossed on the water when mother and son washed ashore on an island. The first thing is our did was saved the life of an enchanted swan the swan him by making a beautiful city appear and Prince V. Don as the Czarevich was now known became ruler of that city by now. You're probably saying I thought there was supposed to be a flying. Be Somewhere in this story so far. The only thing with wings has been an enchanted swan well to make a long story not quite as long. Some people who traveled through Prince Vidalia City told him about SARS saw Tun's kingdom and czar south on heard from those same travelers about the amazing place where Prince Don lived so each of them really wanted to visit the other Prince v known got their first with help from the enchanted swan who let him pay three visits in disguise. I as a mosquito them as a fly and then you guessed it as a B. When's our salt on got to visit the Prince? He was delighted to see his long lost son. And all the miraculous things inference Vidalia city there was a squirrel that old emerald nuts out of golden shells a band of thirty three nights that marched out of the ocean in shining armor and a princess. More beautiful than the sun with moonlight in her hair and starlight in her face Of course the princess was the enchanted swan freed from her spell and changed back to a human being naturally she and the Prince got married and lived happily ever after

"Before the break we met a kind basket weaver who had a magic tree that produced ripe fix all year long. The sultan was wild about fix so we asked the basket weaver to bring him in one fig in exchange for one bag of gold every single day until the summer when the figs on the sultan's own trees would be ready to eat. The Sultan's chief advisor wasn't arrogant selfish man named l. e. and as Elliot watched the basket weaver grow richer and richer not to mention friendlier and friendlier with the Sultan. The adviser became greener and cleaner with envy so he cooked up land one spring morning as the basket. Beaver left the palace with yet. Another a bag of gold L. E. came running after my dear fellow. Wait before you go. I must tell you how thankful I am for those beautiful figs of yours ever since that cold wind today would you brought the Sultan One ripe. Fig Tree. His Majesty has been very pleased very pleased. Indeed there's just one problem the basket weaver cocked his head. What kind of problem? Well His highness couldn't bring himself to tell you in person but it's your breath. My breath the basket. Weaver brought his palm to his nose. Breathe didn't you. It then took a whiff. My breath doesn't smell so bad to me. Well the Celtics says it's atrocious like a skunk like old garbage. His Majesty wishes you would do something about it but he doesn't wish to embarrass you. The basket weaver felt his cheeks flush. I'm afraid I'm already embarrassed. How about if I changed my diet and I could start brushing my teeth more. Oh that definitely would help. But it wouldn't solve the problem. I suggest that when you deliver another fig tomorrow. Yutaka Kerchief around your face. Then when you breath out you won't offend. His Majesty's delegate knows so the next day when the basket weaver returns to deliver his single fig to the sultan. He wore a linen kerchief over his nose and mouth though. The sultan was perplexed. He chose not to ask any questions. The moment the basket left the palace. The esteemed ruler pulled his chief advisor aside alley when the basket weaver came in. Just now why was he wearing a kerchief over his face? I found it. Most Peculiar Ali felt his heart flutter. His plan was working well. Great minds. Must THINK ALIKE. Your Majesty because I was thinking the very same thing that kerchief was bizarre. How about if I catch up with the basket? Weaver and ask him what he couldn't have gotten far so at least scurried out of the palace. As if he were about to chase after the basket weavers carriage but do you think that's what he actually did no way instead L. E. Dove behind a Bush in the real garden and waited after sometime. He got up from his hiding place and returned to the Sultan's throne room with disturbed. Look on his face alley you. What's wrong did you find the basket. Weaver and ask him about the coach if Did You Majesty. But I don't think you're going to like what he had to say. Oh come now. How bad could it be at least smiled to himself? He couldn't believe how beautifully his plan was working out. Will Your greatness the basket? Weaver says he is forever honored by your generosity and your friendship. There's just one problem. Oh the sultan tilted his head. What sort of problem will the poor fellow couldn't bring himself to tell you in person but it's your breath my breath? The Sultan lifted his palm to his nose exhaled through his mouth and took US sniff. My breath smells just fine like the mint tea. I had after lunch or I know that Sir but the basket weaver insists. Your breath is terrible like a farmyard. Like a sewer. He wears the kerchief over his nose and mouth so that he doesn't have to smell you. He says without it he would faint dead away every time you exhale. This was the moment Ali had been waiting for. Surely the sultan would be so offended that he'd clench his royal fists Flare Royal Nostrils and banish the basket. Weaver from the palace or from the entire empire. But that's not what happened instead. The sultan was quiet for a moment then instead of flying into a rage he smiled O. Alley I am so glad we had this talk. Thanks to the basket weaver now. I know the truth tomorrow. When not fellow returns I will show him my gratitude with an extra special reward. L. E. was confused. But Your Majesty think about what the Basket Weaver said about you. You really want to give him a reward. The sultan's eyes twinkled. Yes I do and trust me Allie. It will be a reward that he will never forget the next morning when the basket weaver returned with his single fig and his white kerchief the sultan gobbled up the fruit with more Gusto than ever incredible my friend it's your finest fig yet l. e. was about to hand the basket weaver his usual bag of gold when the sultan held up his hand. No gold today ally instead. We're going to give our friend here. Something extra special. The Sultan reached into his room and pull out a tightly rolled. Scroll it was closed with the sultan's official seal. He handed it to the basket. Weaver after you leave my throne. I want you to take the sealed letter to the Royal Treasury make sure the Royal Treasurer and opens it and reads it and then enjoy the ruble. As the surprise the basket weaver rushed off to the Royal Treasury. Allie was more befuddled then. Evan was the sultan actually rewarding the basket. Weaver with even more riches. Well he got to those richest I. I Li dashed out of the throne room and caught up to the basket. Wait my friend. Wait that letter the Celtics gave you. You must give it to me the basket weaver world around scroll in hand give it to you. Why well elise mind raced. Will you see given how close I am with the Selten? I happen to know. Exactly what letter says it's and older for the royal treasurer too rewards you with many many riches far more riches than your usual bag of gold far more. That's amazing yes. It is and I'm sorry to spoil the surprise but I'm just thinking about your safety. Do you really want to ride your carriage all the way home with so many precious riches on board. What if someone tries to steal them? Listen I will bring this letter to the Royal Treasury on your behalf. Then I will personally deliver the Sultan's reward to your house. The basket weaver agreed and wrote his carriage back home. Meanwhile at Lee brought the sealed scroll to the Royal Treasury and handed it over with trembling hands the Royal Treasurer unsealed. The scroll and silently began to read the mmediately. Her eyes grew wide. She raised finger and two of the sultans. Birlik guards came barreling over. They grabbed l. e. by the scruff of his neck and escorted him out of the building. What's going on what's happening next thing? Ellie new the guards loaded him into the back of a carriage. The guards steered the carriage away from the palace cross the countryside and all the way to desolate mountain range at the very edge of the empire the dumped ellie onto the rocky ground and rode away the next morning the basket weaver don his linen kerchief and returned to the palace to deliver that days vic when the sultan saw the basket weaver enter the room. He's royal jaw dropped. What are you doing here you? I thought I wrote an order. Banishing you from the Empire now. It was the basket. Weavers jaw dropped. What do you mean Your Majesty that letter I gave you? It was an older to have you. Banished from the empire immediately Royal Treasury was supposed to summon the Gods and have them drive you far far away and yet you are. The sultan began looking around the throne room. Where's my chief? Advisor where's alley? Perhaps he knows what's going on. Allie Allie the basket. Weaver shrugged the last time. I saw Alley Your Majesty. He was taking your letter to the Royal Treasury for me. He was so worried about someone stealing all the richest getting that he offered to pick them up himself. Then personally deliver them to my house. He hasn't delivered anything yet. But I know how busy he is being your chief advisor and all right. The Sultan didn't respond. He just stared at the basket. Weaver with ever widening is anyway. I thought that was really kind of him. And speaking of kind it was also Ellie. Who did me the service of finally saying something about my breath and how bad you think it is even suggested. I wear this kerchief so as not to offend Your Majesty's delicate knows the sultan sat frozen on his throne. Suddenly he understood everything this man standing before him wasn't scoundrel know. The True Scoundrel was the sultans very own adviser alley. The great ruler thought about how Jealous L. E. had been the basket weaver how much he had coveted everything. The basket weaver had and now the envious advisor had actually taken the basket weavers place had been banished from the empire. So what else could the sultan do make the swamp complete? He invited the basket. Weaver to take alleys place in the palace and become his new chief advisor and the generous humble man provided the fig loving sultan with years and years of very helpful.

"Is it true you found a victory? That's actually bearing fruit in the middle of winter. Return to that and come back with the person who lives there and tell whoever it is to bring some figs. The person who lived in the tiny ramshackle hut with a fenced in yard was a poor basket. Weaver the basket weaver was a kind generous man who was every bit as sweet as the figs. That magically grew from his tree all year long when the guards brought the basket weaver to the palace the modest man pulled a plump ripe fig from his Satchel and presented it to the sultan on his throne. I hope my humble fruit is to your liking your Highness. The Sultan took the FIG and gazed at it with hungry eyes then he popped the entire thing into his mouth. Oh my good fellow. These figures delicious delectable. The Best I've ever tasted. Surely you have some more the basket. Weaver blushed I actually Your Majesty. I only brought one. You see I may be a poor peasant who doesn't have much but I'm always meeting people who have even less than I do. Hungry weary beggars often wander the countryside and come knocking at my door asking for food all I can give them is one of my baskets loaded up with figs from my tree with all due. Respect Your Excellency. I need to save my fruit for the people who truly need it. The Sultan was disappointed to receive just one fig but he was impressed by the basket weavers selfless generosity. I tell.

Moratorium on the death penalty to cover the new legislation. Well, the sultan's you tone for those a global outcry over the north which included protests by ADA celebrities Elton, John and George Clooney who called for a boycott of luxury hotels owned by Brunei. We'll let the death penalty is still on the statute books. Certain crimes. No executions have been carried out in Brunei since nineteen fifty seven, and Michael I guess that. There's something rather ironic about these laws because they will part of general phasing in given that the sultans family had a reputation for being pretty wild in terms. So she found herself darting from lamplight to lamplight like moth. She thought to herself how funny that was the notion of feeling more safe in the light.
