"Against 23 year old Kayla greenwell have been dropped, though she still facing three charges of second degree assault, all misdemeanors for the actions caught on video last month. For the felony child abuse, there does have to be. There's an additional threshold for injury. Ashley Elias is the assistant state's attorney prosecuting the case. These children were three years old and were unable to articulate on their own. Any additional injury other than the obvious injuries we see in the videos. Greenwell's attorney suggested in court that her actions weren't the only reason the day care facility is now closed, and that what happened was actually commonplace there. The judge called it predatory violence and kept greenwell held without bond. At the courthouse in upper Marlboro, John dome in WTO news. It's four O 6. "At the top with teofimo, Ryan García's there at the moment Regis pro gray, those titles, Josh Taylor still got one, but that's gonna go at some point as well. It might just make sense for him to move up, take a medium level fight at one 40 to get used to it, and then summer of 2023, look for that TF femo fight. Look for that Ryan García fight. Look for that pro gray fight and start taking big fights there. I think Devin Haney is going to be the guy that benefits a lot because he has so many options. You know, you look at lightweight if he stays at lightweight. You know, you've got Shakur Stevens in there. What a fight that would be him and Shakur Stevenson Loma as you said. You know, if he put tank Davis together, we know probably what happened there. But you know, I'll just throw it out at the tank Davis is the biggest draw. But you know that we know there is a lot of talent in both divisions, right? So he has a lot to pick from. And hey, I agree with what jamel said, you know, you don't hold it against him if he decides you can't make it. And I also agree jamel made the perfect point. And I think this is probably where he'll go is get a nutritionist in camp, have somebody keep him on point because he's a big dude. What is he like 5 8 and a half, 5, 9? Wide shoulders. Pretty broad shoulders and everything. So, you know, you know he's not going to be a light wave for the long term. But if you can get that big fight and I think Loma would qualify as a big fight, even though lomas maybe not what he was a couple of years ago, Loma still damn good. And that would be a big fight for him to then ride off into the sunset you've defended your undisputed title. A second time against a really good opponent and you go up to one 40 and you'll be the guy that everybody wants to see fight. They'll be calling you out one 47s will be calling them out, right? I mean, he's going to have a lot of options. I think Devin Haney is going to make a lot of money in the next couple of years. Yeah, you know, jamel and those top ranked guys love those perfecting athletes people. They love them. Yeah, they swear by those perfect athletes, folks. You know, jamel, you know what? I also love about Devin Haney and I've told him this. He's not aligning himself with anybody. I mean, he started his career fighting on showbox as an independent. He signs that he heard, he makes a whole bunch of money, doesn't get the fights he's looking for, so he signs with top rank. And now he's got one more fight left with top rank. Maybe it's against lomachenko. Maybe it's against Anthony ma Lopez, and then he can make another choice. Like he can elect to go back and do a new deal with top rank. He can elect to align himself made with golden boy even to try to get a Ryan García fight, like I love that approach. It's like the approach in Kevin knows this that Sugar Ray Leonard took back in the day. Sugar and Leonard didn't line himself with anybody. He just was like, you know what? I'm going to take the fights. I want to take. I mean, too often it feels like fighters are just so deeply loyal to promoters

"You get not only do you get thrill Manila, but then very quickly hearns hagler, you get you get the life after Ali and you're just there HBO was there in turn for a little guy named Mike Tyson. So it's like a Sugar Ray Leonard. I mean, all these people come through HBO's gateway. And it just blows up the sport again. Do you think it's surprised that the top executives at HBO just how big it became and how quickly it became such a big tent pole for what they do? Well, now you're talking about a different thing because now you're talking about hubris. And there were a lot of those guys at the company at the time. We were like, damn right, I knew it. I wasn't sure. Yeah. Michael fuchs, who was fearless about spending money on sports, got Wimbledon coverage during the week for the first time ever. He's been like $62 million on Mike Tyson at a time when nobody really knew what he was what he was capable of. So I think they have every right to kind of be boastful about it. Proud of it. I mean, herns, you go through all those big, big fights. They knew what they had. And they really transformed the sport for a long time until pay per view came along. If you could sort of elaborate on that point, you mentioned what boxing did for HBO. What do you think HBO did for boxing? Well, there's a couple things. And again, you know, I feel weird telling you this because you know how much better than I but here's one very easy thing to understand, which is that HBO didn't have commercials. And so what's going on is you're able to stay in the ring between rounds. If you're watching ABC world of sports in the 70s, the bell rings, they can't wait to get to a commercial to start getting money. HBO's got nowhere to go. And so as a result, we're like staying in the ring, we're seeing what it's like to be in that stool. We're seeing them talk to them. We're seeing them cut and we're seeing them all fix that up. And the other thing that they did, because production ecstasies were really important to HBO. They stick the mic there. So as a result, there's like two or three major moments where HBO is picking up there's two plastic jars, two plastic drinking containers. And you hear the trainer say to somebody, hand me that one..

"And I'm Mike lynch Coming up today we catch up with Todd de buff president of top rank That's the boxing promotion behind legendary fighters like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard and more recently Tyson Fury That straight ahead on the Bloomberg business of sports show but first let's look at some of the top stories of the week and let's start with the Chinese video streaming giant ten cent They've cut the live broadcast this week of the NBA game between the Celtics and the New York Knicks and it's because of comments made by inescapable My message for the Chinese government is free Tibet And scar that comment caused a whole lot of problems in China angry fans and they called for a boyka It did because he made some pro Tibet comments He also denounced China's president Xi Jinping as a brutal dictator This was all over the course of a three minute video where he slammed Xi Jinping and then criticized China's rule over Tibet saying Tibet belongs to the Tibetan people He was wearing a black T-shirt with an image of the Dalai Lama and he said that he could no longer stay silent And of course China to bet relations very sensitive China reacted immediately and Tencent removed all live streaming for upcoming Celtics games This is not the first time that the NBA has found itself in hot water in China because a couple of years ago in 2019 the Houston Rockets general manager Daryl morey tweeted out support of pro democracy protests in Hong Kong and that sparked a huge backlash in China And Lindsay scarlet just said it we've seen this movie before and we thought the NBA keep your thoughts on the down low but it didn't happen No and I know and a scanter He's a very he's a Muslim he's from Turkey And we did an interview with the ABC affiliate in Boston a few years ago with him when he spoke out against the Turkish government and he still had family over there And they're in an arrest warrant was actually his reform four years ago So this will not be the last we'll hear from and his canter I promise you I mean this matters to Barr also because the NBA is hugely popular in China It's the most popular U.S. sports league Forget the MLB forget the NHL It's all about the NBA The NBA's business in China is a $1 billion enterprise and we've seen from superstars like LeBron you tread carefully in China Well you just hit again you hit the nail on the head There's a lot of money for the NBA and NBA players to be made in China and that's why a lot of the players have been like you said treading lightly And NBA commissioner Adam silver had his state of the league address on Tuesday and he expected revenues to hit or exceed $10 billion on that was before the Celtics stream was pulled by a ten cent over in China so maybe that this $10 billion projection by Adam silver will be directly affected by this move Let's talk about something a little more happier if you are an NFL fan my goodness gracious the rating numbers for the NFL 16.6 million viewers per game through week 6 That's doing something Yeah there's a lot of reasons for that Number one there's some great new quarterbacks this year that are in so a lot of teams that didn't have a great deal of interest now do even with teams that just won their first game like Jacksonville You get Justin Fields with the Chicago Bears You get Matt Jones with the New England Patriots and on and on But I've been saying this for weeks this new all these new gambling apps that people have on their phones have all these different props before you just made a bet before the game I'm going to take the over or I'm going to take the jets and I'm going to take 7 and a half points Now you can go right to the final whistle till zero zero zero to say if he's the odds on the jets making a first down on this possession So people are watching games and they're hanging in there to the end of the games they're going past the click points which is where they measure the total audience for a game And I think this is a direct correlation between all these betting apps and the uptick in attendance We got to take a big shout out When your name is ty ty Washington you're doing good And you better be good And he is good Lindsay he did an IL deal with a Porsche dealership Yeah and he's on his Twitter account or Instagram I can't remember which one it was It doesn't really matter He wrote at this point right Yeah You're sitting in an $80,000 Porsche And this was my biggest fear when the same image and likeness came out There's going to be a huge chasm between the haves and the have nots and I think it's going to divide a lot of teams Yeah because the best players immediately will get all these deals and everyone else will be looking on from the side And at the end of the day they're all playing on the same team but one looks like professionally paid player and everyone else students Yeah one guy's driving an $80,000 force to practice three other guys are riding their bicycles Well when you're playing at Kentucky so obviously you have a high profile college that you're playing for I say shame on the car dealer What is the attraction to have a kid who's never played a game of college basketball yet and giving him an $80,000 car and some type of agreement That's some of these These are going to drive around town in that car Yeah yeah Yeah it's been on the back of it It's going to say you know Scarlett will poor come on down I'm sure Up next on the show we speak with Todd.

Which was you to compete to box. I mean most people santana me just this crazy man. You know all that if you have money to have fame saw you need no. It gets to a point based we're still human gets to appoint whereas that if you're not if you don't feel good about yourself and at that time i wasn't feeling good about myself i don't i don't know what it was. But you know you become friends. Muhammad ali and he's he's watching you fight ten years after hagler. He's watching some of the decisions that you're making and at that point you know we're starting to learn medically about where he's heading. Was there ever a conversation. You guys ever talk about it. Because i always imagined that fighters you guys can talk to each other in a way that no one else can ever talk to you. Oh we don't talk we don't we don't let it out. It's it's an amazing thing. And i wish i could put it in. Some order was something inside much that because again there's nothing greater than having has raised beating the odds That that moment in time in history is just amazing until we all k- with ourselves until we liked out sales a lot better It's gonna be it's gonna be. A challenge is going to be challenged and you know thinking about. There's no one is no one statement. There's no one sentence that's going to clarify what we tried to grab. I want to end it there. That was awesome. I don't want to take it more. Your time i really. She opened it up and talk. And so Thank you are you know that was. That was terrific hope. You enjoyed gino. And i hope you know that in one of the things that it's cool about your life even though you've mentioned before you know struggling to to like yourself to love yourself That you should have moments where you appreciate how much you meant to so many people you know you should allow yourself to feel good about that and said are rejecting it which i think you probably at that place. Now because it's it can be a nice cool feeling when you're like you know what i mean a lot to a lot of people in and i was inspiring and you should let yourself know that you know what i hear that that sentence words it makes even strong. Thank you okay bye. Hey thanks a lot man. Honestly that was terrific. Thank you rick when simplisafe home security's founders chad and eleanor. Author Jonathan Eig Discusses His New Book 'Ali: A Life'

"Book is ali a life biography. And it's incredible and the author of jonathan joins us on the podcast. We're going to kind of do an ollie specific pot here so let's start at the beginning just like the book does his family's two generations removed slavery. We know there are some history that none of us really knew about. Even he didn't know about about his own grandparents. He has a father whose abusive but talented. They weren't a destitute family by any means In their neighborhood louisville it was. It was a family that was probably doing better than some others. But i think the the foundation of who ali became as a person. How did he develop this kind of unpolished. Personality is non compromising personality at such a young age. That's really one of the central questions to understanding. Ali and i think it goes to understanding american history. You know when. I interviewed dick gregory for this book. He said to me e books not going to be worth a damn. If you can't explain. What made a kid from the jim crow south same age as emmett till think that he could talk back to white people and get away with it that he can call himself the greatest when everybody around him was telling him he was a second class citizen. You got to be able to understand what made ali capable of that. And it's a really difficult question. I mean it's really complicated. Part of it is that he grows up in. Not the deep south louisville thinks of itself as more progressive. There are some opportunities That wouldn't be available to him anywhere else For example to to walk into a boxing gym at age twelve and have a white cop offer to help him and to be to get in the ring and mix it up with white kids. That didn't happen in alabama or mississippi. But it did happen in louisville and so all of these things And the fact that his father was really a you know a fighter Not in the boxing sense. Which is somebody who didn't think that we should have to take the the conditions that we were born into because of this racist country that that That we live in.

"Get to two time withstood. Stead of mayweather. The name of may weather whether or not whether or not on h. e. t. e. r. Yeah it it'd be your guess whether or not but i'm more interested right now. I wish we had a call in. I really wish. We had that component. Where i can hear the people talk to me and you right now and just tell me you know were. They embarrassed that they bought it. I can speak and speak for all of them. Yes i was. I was pissed. I didn't like it. I was like man. This is like come on get employed or don't get him. I was embarrassed. I didn't like it i. I'm i'm bummed out that i paid for it. But congratulations to floyd and paul. They made a lot of money. But i didn't find it to be overly entertaining. I found it to be frustrating. I mean with the exception of the of the herd fight. The other fight was a one-sided beat down with one guy holding off dear. Life shouldn't have been in the ring with jack. And then floyd in paul anyway web you represent the can i wanna ask you another. Follow up for this one. Does it hurt the future of the side. Show business whatever we want to call it. The his brother his blood is going to be fighting another. You have see former fighter always still fighter. But he's he's a great fighter that he's gonna fight tremendous but but he's past way past his his his peak tyron woodley woodley the other polls gonna fight him and we'll people be more hesitant now about by that or any of these of future events. I don't think so. I think that each one has a unique component. I thought that ben aspirin was unique. Because i couldn't imagine that happening to ben aspirin but it did. And i feel like the same curiosity with with tyron woodley. Even when floyd was at his peak there were times where. I bought the pay per view. And i was like man. This come on. This is the most frustrating defensive counterpunching fight. There was there. Were many floyd mayweather fight. That i felt like that was i. Wasn't that much fun. I mean i get it. He's highly skilled. Economy countries defensive wizard. He's the best but that style. I'd rather watch. Jared heard areas fight twenty times. Then watch dislike that kind of defensive counterpunching style. So i think that those fights still have still an audience for those sideshow type fights. I just didn't like this one. You don't think that this hurt that audience award the future prospects of of that growing the way. it's grown. Maybe with a handful of like hardcore boxing fans but i think the majority of people tuning into this segment. You've got all the boxing fans. But i think that they get a huge audience from there like reality. Youtube crowd data tuning in out of curiosity. That aren't necessarily buying regular pay per view. Boxing matches right. That's good does that. I just needed to ask you. That's my thought. But i'm going to speak in germanic alkyl. I'm going to see him. Saturday night in nashville said hello. Yeah please yeah. He be much like i said we saw at the very infancy of his career when he was just starting to now. He's just well you said it he's tremendous and he says the monster so big chicago guy. He's got that heavy like chicago. Italian accent he's funny. he's really funny guy. I loved the physical motions when he kicks his foot up to you and he just yeah when he looks at you and he got i'd unit barriers a. Let's let's talk about after the after the pay per view. I was up super late. Because i taped the four kings documentary on showtime which was unbelievably. Good you stole the show. And that one. I loved every minute of it. Reliving the time with tommy hearns. Sugar ray leonard. Hagler and roberto duran. Wow what an awesome program. They like really captured. The whole the time in the atmosphere of the time. What an awesome awesome production and ration- was great. How'd you like it was really good. I thought it was really really well done. And i thought that there was some irony there. Some real ironic things going on Those very interesting if you think about it in a way that it was on every everybody is talking about. What's wrong with boxing. Now and you know and why these sideshows of popped up and entertain why people feel a need to see them and everything else and the same night comes to his four kings and it kind of gave you the answer kind of first of all. It reminded you when boxing last was great back in the eighties. And why while you had the great fighters great talent. We have some real talented fighters today. Obviously up these were great fighters and all fighting each other and was on network. Tv where everybody could see. It wasn't pay per view as so you had all of those stars lineup to make it. You know so great and it kind of it kind of reminded you told you what's wrong with boxing today that you don't have the best fighting each other that you have promoters won't allow it. We've talked about this. You know to to know issue right. So i won't go into it too much. But i mean you got these these power brokers three or four five of them that control the a little realm and a they get paid by the networks. So that's what makes them healthy. That's what makes them. You know powerful. And they just protect their staple fighters on that in that network every once in a while they sell out and they go across the street fight so because they have to they they're mandated to they don't have enough guys to continue to fill the cards on network so they have to do that. But for the big big fights you know just one poster child right now would be spence and qualify. It's it's not getting made and and it's it's not getting me because of what i'm talking about. Because the promoters owner to control the different fighters and then i couldn't allow them to fight other if they don't have control unless it becomes sta magnitude of become so enormous like it did with our mayweather that you have no choice. So so you're never going to have with you had eighty so again. It reminded you of when boxing was at its best and why people loved it. How great it was. how great. Oh my god how special would was and just kind of poke in ribs a little bit to say. Hey this is the blueprint fix it today. This is what's warm with today. This is why you have these sideshow. And almost the point..

"Matchstick, along with Meyer Metcalf. Right before we began this segment I heard Fire and say Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul is next week and you started It was an exasperated tone. You're a fight fan, and yet you your poo pooing. This fight as if there you're not going to give them your money. How dare you? Okay, It's It's a terrible situation with boxing. It shouldn't happen. It's a waste of a fight for Floyd Mayweather If he wants to come back, give us a real fight. I will not be purchasing that fight. I have no part. In my paper, few dollars going toward that nonsense. It's not gonna happen. Okay? That might be true. Are you going to is periscope still around? Are you going, Tonto? I won't know about the fight, except for people talking about it on Twitter. I just don't care. And you know, this is unlike me. I always go. I will not participate in any way in the Floyd Mayweather Logan Paul fight next weekend hole that you were all in on the trailer event A few weeks ago, you were all in on that. And the fight had really was like the third or fourth thing on the docket next to Snoop Dog and some musical artists and you were all in on it. We talked about it for a half An hour on the show the next day. This involves a champion in Floyd employed Mayweather and your poo pooing. Yeah, this I mean, That was a spectacle right? That was concerts and a slap contest involving Ric Flair. It was a weird thing to see. Yeah, I would pay to watch that because I kind of wanted to see what it was. This is Floyd Mayweather. Maybe the greatest fighter of our generation fighting a youtuber. It makes no sense. I'm not going to pay and bring down box. That box is gonna go down. Let it go down on its own with not getting the fights. We wanted a sport. Don't make it because Logan, Paul and Floyd Mayweather are fighting on pay per view. Imagine of YouTube was around in the eighties. Hey, Iron Mike, What do you think he's gonna take on this youtuber? It's like, well, he would have died. I mean, that's the problem that have been the end of boxing. Mike Tyson would have done it. But dad have been the end of the sport. Right? So I just it just doesn't make any sense to me. Man does not make any sense. Why this watch someone like Floyd Mayweather who legitimately if he wanted to it. Floyd Mayweather. I think it's 43 years old. Said, Listen, I want to come back fighting even if it wasn't some top guy, even if it wasn't a Manny, Pack your rematch. People would still care. They'd say, Hey, 43 years old. Let's see if he still hasn't. That's what fighters do. Muhammed Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard fighters love to come back and say, Hey, let's see if I'm still the same guy. We would all get behind that. But this is a dude who fights on YouTube who has some basic skills but has no business even being in the ring. With a professional fighter like Floyd Mayweather, and you're putting on pay per view, and it's supposed to be this big event and people are talking about it like it's legit. Like Logan Paul has a chance. I want no part of this nonsense. You draw the line at YouTube fighting. You draw the line at YouTube stars fight you have you have set the line of demarcation where you have standards and you are not going to tolerate it because this is a disgrace to box and that's coming up next week is that next week? Next Sunday, Okay? Can't wait to talk about something tells me you'll be taking a sick day on something so we don't have to. So we don't have to talk about by the way. Speaking of fighting, we almost saw Some fighting over the week or at least you could have any different MBA because we have seen over the last week. A couple of fans. Cross the white. We saw the spitting incident which Ray Young we shall the popcorn thing with Russell Westbrook and both fans have been banned for life. There is a line that you do not cross. You were talking before we Started the show today. We're talking about what we wanted to discuss. We hit on this topic and you mentioned that you believe in its SAT. You sounded really I don't know if it sounded old and I hate to say that to you because I think you and I, we're the same age but that you believe social media. Is at play here. Social media is a cause of some of these fans believing they can do what they want. Yeah, I do think social media has changed sort of that line in that these guys spend their days tweeting that athletes saying whatever they want to say all these things they would never say up close, they would never say to their faces. It blurs the line. And then I think they get to these games and it's sort of that same philosophy. Listen, Midnight is Vernon Maxwell. Some guy says something to him in the stands. He goes up into the stands. Any punches this? Yes, Yes, I'm not. I'm not condoning it. But you were aware that you could get punched in the face during that air. Now I think there is a new sort of idea about what you can and can't say to an athlete and I really do matter. Think social media has fueled that, which is why we're getting more and more fans kind of crossing that line and ended up with these situations. I'm still trying to figure out what the line is. Like it's so it's And anything that that originates from the stands to the players, whether its batteries popcorn spit all that you cannot do. However, I just want to make this clear. I just want to make this clear in the in the day and age of mental health, and we gotta, you know, look out for one another from the neck up. This is a really hard time for everyone. I just want to make clear. That calling out someone's bald. This is okay. I just want to make sure that handing out flyers to make sure that the fans shout Trey Young is balding toe. Let him know that he's got some physical deficiencies. That That are not receiving any time soon. That that's okay. Right? I just want I just I just want the handbook on what is okay and what's not Because I want to make sure when I go to an event, I know what I can say. I cannot do this right? It is, but I mean first, I'm not too concerned about the tray young thing because he's gonna have $100 million and a zoo. Brian Urlacher knows the hair will be fine. It'll come back, but I do think That that is something where You're still saying something to the athlete? You're not in any way making contact with the athletes. So to me the spit, right? Oh, yeah. Corn? Yes, Different thing, right? No, I get it. I get that I'm not. I'm not equating this. I'm not saying why can't we do this kind of that? Like sticks and stones break my bones. Names never hurt me. Go back to the honest Don't play with your food, right? Like this is the parenting thing with this, but it is interesting if you really step back and think about What we are Okay with and what society is Okay With the gladiators in the ring and those around the ring, you could shout, scream, curse you! No, no. Racial or ethnic slurs, Right? And obviously you shouldn't do that. But anything else really is on the allowable list. It starts in high school. You know, you got your list of things. You could say that people you go to college. You go the MBA. You gotta pros and we're okay with it, because that's the way that it's been done. So let's let's mock a 23 year old for balding. Let's let's go ahead and do that during the sporting of it. Let's have fun and a 23 year old who is cooking your team who was playing with your team like it is food. So I mean that to me is the other element of it. Why? I think you're not seeing as much about that trail is destroying them. So it's kind of like that's all Knicks fans have right now is to talk about whether or not his hair is lying is receiving in that right..
