I understand it but we just started to figure this out. I'm gonna guess there other wide receivers who've come from college and been successful in the. Nfl is that right. Paulie checking okay. All right during the live look and we talked about the washington football team going to change their nickname. I stay with washington's washington football team. I think it's it. It sounds good regal. i mean we. We've gotten past the well. It's kind of awkward. It just washington football team. And i liked the logo. Here are the the names. The possible names read. Hogs defenders are mata washington football team. Red wolves presidents brigade commanders. What will they go with. what should they go with. Let's talk about what they should avoid red hogs now. We're past the hawks a long time ago defenders. Okay what if you don't have a good defense or what about your offense. We're the defenders okay. Armata no washington football team. That's the one i would go with. Red wolves presidents no commanders. No the obvious answer is the washington football brigade. That's what i would go with unless you stay with washington football team which i would i think they're going to go with brigade and they should go with the brigade unless they stay with the washington. Football team yes. I don't love forgotten like any of them. But if i had to pick one. I would say defenders only because you're in the capital and you're defending the nation and i understand that there's gonna be a lot of plays on words if your defense is terrible but i think washington defended. I could live with that of that group of native right mclovin about gridlock washing. You know what i'm saying for non. Just k- i like watching football team like you said i think it's kind of cool and unique and they should just stick with it. Okay brigades awesome to that. I would like that but watching football team be number one all right seton. This is funny because no matter what they choose. It's going to be the wrong one for a large portion of the population right. Okay i do like brigade though. That's the out of that list. That's the one that stood out to me but i would also preferred. They just stay with watching. Did football team paulie. I think they will go with armada. It's very generic. It doesn't make people upset or excited. It's very milk toast. And that's why the probably go with it. I liked commanders. Because i like calling people commander like hey. What's up commander. Poleus pin famously. Didn't know anybody's name. There's lots of people walk around the halls and even go. Hey chief commander as for the sport. I think you referred. You is winter to call you seton. First couple of months commander commander. "Is the best. That's the thing is with. The rice is is that the conditions and the type of track and they all play a big pie. We saw wing to pal around a similar sort rice though in racer ascott the king stand when she plays the trial from we've liberty. Youtube is also in this race in blaze the trail and better but you see the stiff uphill finish at escort. She was found there. I felt because they went really really fast that day. Now i think they've gone off just as quickly here winter power. Obviously golden powell ridiculous pace early but your is a different test to escort his needs. A much faster five furlongs. Isn't that stiff up. You'll finish and wind. Power was able to keep up the gallup this time on this track. I remember when she wanted early in the season. A the may meet in the density. I'd i'd never heard of before into power. And i saw the win. Wow that looks fast and sure enough. It was winter power and straight off that race. Oh she would win the nunthorpe. I think even poquito tipped her anti somewhere along the line straight after that right because she just looked tailor made for this right and this race is a the seems to suit a certain talk of host. The meccas angel won a couple of times. And there's been some weird results alphaville fini was he win whereas went very close and i think the hosts like york tend to have a very good record in it because think that five. Furlongs your keys. A very unique test suada obviously had absolutely no john's coming away slowly over quick fly furlongs. I thought still ran very well and dragons symbol. I must be pulling the hair without host because host dragon symbolise still yet a choke up that group one. He's run several good rights at the top level if there is a hosting training deserves spring group on the shortly dragons symbol. T think you'll get this year at haydock or even on champions day. I'm not sure he will mattie because he said quite a tough say's for free spinner is being on the go now for quite a while he's had a bunch of what must have been hard races. He's opr now. There are only five and six furlongs and only only that they light. Rice is a the title allies. They always tend to throw up strange results. Miami times that predate lab iron furnace. We'd result on not sure. That dragon symbol. We'll pick one up. They say he's in but hopefully will next year. He's definitely got the ability to win. One hasn't he he has he's been running fantastic so and looking at commonwealth cut bosnia to be demoted pre lobby for winter. Power case q. Think she can go on to win. That had trained surely. Thanks much more left. She's got to give. She is still the three remember obsolete which is very quick as well. I mean you reap withdrawal as much as anything because it's a massive jewelry. Spur also a all the time. You possibly do wanna get sucked in by a horse. That's already got such an overwhelming balance of the farm on the street course at york dot tends to be a the profile of horses. Destruction do elsewhere hope. I'm wrong eh. She's electric but she has. You know everything's been at york's will fall. I thought friday's race was one of the most archetypal fife on on your rate of ever seen anything was remotely slowly away. Our can't keep is gone is dead at the horses on the throne are the ones that don't come back. But you can also go to fast as gordon paladin. He's i mean why did anybody. He was short like he was on on his height. Man wasn't he is trainers much better than most hyped up. His horses and this form acumen was quite impressive. Boat was it. is it really worthwhile. Mecum favorite head of sweetser who is clearly a brilliant horse. One thing suazo the wanted to mention. Obviously she was very impressive at goodwood and king. George that race was quite rare spin furlong sprint. On down downhill tribe candidate didn't go health for letter all the way. And that meant you keep up when you do something like when she goes to nunthorpe where the absolutely blast off what our powers blasted off and not come back. Can't you keep up. that's the thing to ask. But i don't know the what i'm seeing. Is that the unease absolute barna five. Averages she might find. That's where she gets done. I think she probably is the best horse in the world's given the right conditions some fortunate for her that the king stand as an still come this season. Because i think you are steph. Five might be absolutely perfect. This is just something to watch sweeter. She is extremely good. I think we might have to watch the conditions under which we back her issue that you know she might be horse. That doesn't suit these burn up. Fives of eddie. Based and maybe maybe would go for the air. Five hundred breeders cup or something that might be the salaries that she'll when norbert yeah just wondered about these these absolute raw pfeiffer lamberth's because goods dead play to the strengths of a horse the the needs to keep up with us too long more than you would think of. You'd average king. Georgia could definitely thing. You can mark up her performance on friday satiny anyway. Now we're gonna. We're gonna take a quick breda but after we're going get a handicap performance from each of keith and graham and stocks. Talk about some two year olds. "Show her daily route control. Water balloon fight anyway. Shower once every three or four days do exert. We're ten hours and have like machine oil oliver me. Which would you would think you would shower every night. But so ostad by the end of the day that i just sleep in my own filth so now i can see that our. Yeah one hour. I'd definitely choosing minute. I got things to do. I got stuck on got people to me. What do you think about for an hour in the shower. Everything everything everything. You don't wanna show every day. Yeah so you'd be an hour you'd be in the shower our of your day every day almost sometimes twice. Shut off to our married. Do you clean your hands. I'm single if you're listening. Maybe that's it. it's also as birthday tomorrow. I can talk about that. What else. I go looks like i got one more. Is that cool absolutely. We're running out of beer so we've got to keep rolling here. Here's where my. I don't know if i'm happy about these or if i'm like. Wow what's wrong with me an excellent. What if every time see how. I wrote this every time you had to drive somewhere. You had to kill a chicken that was in your backseat. So you get to the car. There's a live chicken before you can drive off. You have to kill it or every time every time or once a year. You have to fight a chimpanzee to death match. You lose to the chip chip. So you're dying. Yeah what if. I give you a weapon. What kind of weapon. Not again sorting matters. Gosh kirk other than a gun. I don't think it matters. Killing chicken and killing like a primate are two very different. Things you gotta think about once a year. You could die every time you have to go to work every day and you have to kill a chicken in your backseat us or do me and my wife drive a lot so you don't ever get in the car to go to the food fight. Water fight you out of the car. There's a chicken rating now. I will say this. It's a lot easier to kill chicken and you get very good at killing chicken soup. And here's okay you would have you turn this small biz. Okay get some chickens. Fresh chicken breast wings yell that stuff. Chicken prices are through the roof right now poultry but your car would be a disaster feathers everywhere but there's something about like killing a prime. I'm a big hunter zero desired. Ever like Primate weird yeah. It'd be so annoying. It's like like you forgot the milk. I the cargonoff kill another check you out like maybe not this time. And it's like i feel i'll meet with killing. This is tough one. Because do you want to get that used to death. You know like killing a chicken every time you get in the car. Is it once a day or every time every time we'll do i don't want to change it a little. Okay okay. i will change every time you use the car after. Kill it not every time you get in the car so say you go to target until one chicken. Not when you go in and out to chickens. Oh i see i think would turn it into a business. I would sell chickens for meat. Because you'd have a ton of it. It would be very annoying. But also i just have no desire to kill primate. I don't have as are really chicken using coal. What's see giggling. 'cause i could've perspective from you because i hey birds f- birds hate verse. Like i know you would just like immediately. Kill the chicken out peer jo. You just feel like by exactly exact- exact. I don't even care. Exactly what do you do the chance. I'm taking the. I'm taking the chimp. Really because i hate birds. I don't michael myers. I'll be just all day on. I didn't get a weapon with the bird hands snapped i tear. Yeah i feel like out of resentment you would have just been like. I'll probably get the most out of the chicken at five. I mean that's pretty dark. Like four or five times. You'd be like man but after that you kinda get a slight enjoyment out of it. I i think. I choose chimp for two reasons. First we just talked about with the shower. I don't have time to kill something every time. I gotta go somewhere very like i got. I'm but i have to like put that in my schedule. We'd have to take the one minute. You take the one minute shower before you go somewhere you kill the chicken gotta go clean up again knowing you have to kill chimp every year. Here's second time. Second thing what runcie. What's only once a year on the same day every year or at a random time. Maybe once january hits may fifteenth. I don't like that chimp. I would still choose chicken. I would use by reason why. I don't want to deal with that every freaking day. I think you'd go insane really a toll on urge verse champs. I okay kelly you fine. Here's my second reason. I you have a sore sword. That's what i'm saying. I you don't buy the weapon with the chicken. Yeah he said he did say handsome coal that you get a sword with chimp okay. Still i feel like i would much rather kill a chicken tennis champ and you turn it into a small business to make money. Yeah exactly so. I choose champ call you. Pick hundred checked. I'm going chimp yet. To timpson a chicken changed my mind was the may fifteenth suada thousand chimps senate chicken name of our podcast chicken. I listened to that k. Last one because of the chicken thing and then we can start doing other stuff. Don't say to the egg would you know. Would you rather have to fight. Fifty miniature roosters. That are yeah fifty minutes or roosters that are like i don't know we'll say six inches the a the but they're as tough as a t rex or would you rather fight one to one giant rooster. That's a size of t. rex. But so you're saying like your fifty minute chickens with all each individually the strength of t. Rex yes but here's the way better way to say i was thinking i was figuring out as i was saying would you rather fight Fifty chicken size t rexes or would you rather fight won t. Rex is chicken easy. The fifty camp is put on some heavy boots. Let's get stopping. They got a little arms. All they can do is buy steel toe boots done-deal you'd think he could overrun with fifty of them. They just on you. I mean they would but you're not gonna beat a t. Rex sized chicken. Have you ever been in a chicken coop. Kind with one rooster. that's mad. But here's the chicken. Isn't that the female version. They have spurs. Got back there terrifying. Yeah you're not beating any really. No no way i don't know do you know how big a t. rex issue like you capitalize on like a. Do you have a weapon of the world's largest chicken wing. It doesn't matter you're you're.

Twenty two plane. You know a major role as jesse writer. So i don't know if you have somebody in mind. But i eat thinks that they're getting their edgy. Throws well are working on the number of good climbers for you know for juicy positions so i mean this. This is promising for for french cycling for the time being while. Let's face it with john. We haven't found yet the new new bill narino. That's for sure maybe out for thirty two years. I know i know. But i i'm going to retire. Since i guess the jinx will be broken if the micro and the car today would have. It was yes. He was fourteenth of july today with the president and the car. It did seem that the french writers were trying to put on a show. Although there are also groupama fda pretty awful tour a law themes of other pre. Awful lot of teams are going back at the moment with nothing Which could be an interesting day tomorrow in the break. They mitch. You've been. We were speaking about this. But you beating teams that you know. Get towards the end of grunter. Having having not come what they want they came to do. You know what's atmosphere like in what what is the feeling like within the team as you kind of am approach the last couple of days. It's a hard thing and only into the last week. I'd say you know the the loss rest. I is sort of a bit of meeting. You always going to. The rest is typically. have a team meeting. You know knee often that risk die where we at. What have we done. What are we going to do. And the first recital wise a beat you know easy going no matter what's happening in the fish long way to go two weeks ago. Don't worry. boys changes very quickly in that loss. Wave if nothing's happening that second week As a different dynamic there be more pressure as applaud doesn't necessarily help 'cause you always there's no one that is slacking off sitting back going on. We don't wanna do anything. Obviously withdrawing it's just happening In the last week the pressures applaud and it doesn't win the precious applaud things miraculously happened normally. And when you get to the end. Like i said the pressure keeps getting applaud. Everyone keeps meeting breaks. Not doing the sprints. Well whatever it is and you always have the sense of relief when you finally leave the rice. When he finally travel home and jump on. That train will jump on that flight and we get back home this at since relief the is either. You always get that no matter what happens then like well. It's good to get away from that and farm. That's the feeling voice had been on a team when you have managed in the last few days to purchase something to just make you get to the end and real at least reflect on having achieved. Something in the race has ever happened for a really good example. And i'm trying to think of yamba right at the moment because they d unto fog is in a couple years ago we spoke about this crash bergeron. In the world's up we went down to five from monitoring stage nine. I think something like that. Monitoring mean sought lilia and we had to readjust. Had sergio to there. We had lawson critic logano and myself and i'm any martinez in danny and serge with only two goals on jc and lawson has going for breaks. Couldn't kwok it the win and search. I think it was stage. Naw nineteen won the stage. And that was that moment okay. We didn't have to do anything. Because we only had five rod as and essentially the pressure was relieved to be booze amazing and see the relief between normally liaz but the staff because it working just as hot as osce. Everyone forgets that. Even the rod is and i appreciate that fee tree that result just as much as you feel it. I want it and it was beautiful. It at allows rolling to madrid and just really be relaxed and enjoy it and the be became just that little bit suada. you know. it's funny because m. i think it was a daniel. We went to the your teams with hal off their payroll on a stage a couple years ago and it was two years since they'd wanna world erase and it was an amazing atmosphere there that night because it wasn't actually the right as it was the staff the staff were could it was just a weight had been lifted and there was a sense of just massive relief that you had there just being in team hotel. It's it's really great to say. It's a nostrum on ron off. How invested the staff are in what we do. Yeah they do so much in in the mechanics. Are they working to the meat. Not the swan years. You just massaging you. They running around doing everything and they're invested in that they're doing everything and minute percent. That probably doesn't make any difference. But they wanna make it perfect for you. So it's great to feel that payback. Almost you know why but the bill teams here where everybody on the team staff on. Writers are just kind of wanting to go home. I think well tomorrow. I think interesting for that fact flattered i should be sprint. But i think it's going to be fought purely because of that reason we're going to see some other things. Come into play. I think some weed things that you find in the end of this team sought chasing teams jc or taunting breaks chasing breaks back because by needs to be in it. And probably you. I have to do much at all Tomorrow i can imagine being fringe sage and all these other. We'd sort of games. That teams need apply to try and get some answers to all. Science book is supporting cycling. Podcasts at twenty twenty one. The science in sport pule by science. Thank you very much indeed. Scientists sport are longtime sponsor since two thousand sixteen very grateful to them for their support. If you want twenty five percent off all your scientists sport products go to science sport dot com and the checkout enter the code. sis twenty five sas p. twenty five if you want to enter our competition as well to guess the winner of sunday's stage in paris and then go to the cycling podcast dot com and if you are one of the people slightly the the winner you have a chance of winning eighty pounds worth of scientists for products. It could be mark cavendish because he's made it through the perez Again you know. Some people didn't expect that he's not ridden a grand tour for several years. He didn't train for the tour de france and think he was writing it so quite an achievement. We talked about peddler ducharme last night. And a lot of people actually have nominated tim de clark for peddler ducharme for the work. He's done in this race and the way he has helped mark common dish through the the these tough sages. if you look at today's Results the the cutting quickstep writers came in together five of them. Michael moore of tim clark. Three stevens dominated ballerini and mark cavendish. The final five places on the stage thirty two minutes six seconds behind but those four writers were were looking after cavendish and doing a fantastic job. So tim clark is a very good nomination i am. I have to mention as well but at a message from stacey snider today stacey makes the beautiful cups mugs. Gelato balls beer cups as well. Met you probably that you got a mug already but you probably like a beer cup as well. Wouldn't you is a ceramic beer. Yeah yeah yeah very popular. Yeah yeah if you're listening to stacey i know you will be Matured lover of beer cup. Stacy did say that. She feels like she correct. The record about the loss botch selling in three minutes said it sold by eight minutes which is still breathtakingly fast. Three minutes with a broken the previous record of five minutes by two minutes which would be on another level and probably raise some questions about illegal performance enhancing activities and so on that subject with the the big story. This morning was barring victorious. And this police raid. 'em as we said earlier it comes from the same prosecutor's office is was behind the raid on ne'er containers room. Well it was. Eric container winner on his brother dire canton las year of sal within archaic sic 'em that petered out and nothing ever came of it. Did it no not far as leaving. Marseille and i know the legal and police authorities there. Nothing seemed to come out of it. But you never know with these enquiries they can drag on for many many months and many many years is baron. Decision linked to argue something investigation. We have no idea whatsoever So while it's very very early to mid to jump to any conclusions As you know the You know this kind of i mean prosecutors offices and and the police are very sick while secrets even as kind of normal. So what were they looking for. What is linked to. We have absolutely no idea. Of course. I mean that there had been talk and we on the podcast talked about it. You know kind of questioning the The the wave of success by baron. Detours reiver's i mean mount mount padukone and and a couple of other guys Once again performing well and awry and win stages that is is not proof of any wrongdoing and so the time being we we we know the only thing we can say that. And i think that's that's the only stand we can. We can make this stages police raids in hotels for on riders during grand tours and specially during the tour de france Have become part of the job of of being a psych prone the work tour. There is always a an ongoing investigation is always guys that and also the tour is kind of kind of Yes big screen even for a anti-doping authorities to say look. We're doing something about it. We will anything come out of. It is really impossible to say because we don't know what they were looking phone with all know what the charges might have been. We don't know if they're worse than anybody you know. Where does it come from. The can be dentists haitians at times. We we actually have no clues for the time being but what what's going on what's the Legal stance in terms of the police. I would come in. And just through those rights know to they need some kind of warrant also wishing or is it. They can just right. Were there was that. Actually there was there was a little. The baron issued a statement about the what happened. And you know they're insane. Not nothing really was no ras rested or you know the they were allowed to go on and said no warrant was issued but entrenched legal system. You don't need a warrant to To you know to specially for drugs offenses so. It's the kind of charges for for investigation. Are pretty vague. You know like like as you while you spell them out. And that's and there are two authorities in france who can act without any Warrants or whatever you know An inspection into whether the drug dealing which is kind of the case and and customs offices customs officers and and very often in drugs in or dope related offenses. You see the customs offices Acting and customs offices can really almost break into your home and and search and look for anything they want without any war. Whether with an any you know Kind of any any control so So so i'm in procedures. We so that. I am not unusual and are not illegal at all. I mean the pl- dope smuggling duggan products or dealing with dokan products is a criminal offence in france. And if the police have grounds to believe that you you might have been involved in sort of Business than they have every right to do what i did. Yesterday mentioned spoke sports. Roger hammond air he and rafal dagger to the people at run that team and he really played it done. I mean he. He said that the they really just to be interested in the writers files am somebody who offered a slightly different interpretation. Vincent mighty march the the the writer and who said that. They seized things on an roger. Hammond said he'd seen it reported that he'd had his phone taken by. He demonstrated they actually still hunt his phone. So yeah he really played dying. But monte morris was pre angry figure out the star in poor under the finnish. And let's hear what you said to the finish. M kate wagner was up there The some of luzon. Dan and she's one of a number of journalists speaking to him there. It's kind of interesting that there was so much activity considering what happened last night. I of thought. Oh i love. We will trying to our point because We have nothing to we have The only thing we have to do is to prove our value our worse we play on the field with all the other center. Which really. i don't know where that makes no sense to me. I mean i will always okay. Maybe sometimes i say my handle on sundays. I really tried to invest everything. I've got but it doesn't mean that those days i have a special Help or something wrong. It's disrespectful but on the other hand once the investigation will be clear. I hope that we are really proven to be one of the best teams and that good is good results can expected. Slow has gone to the please. Why you guy hard for me to comment. I don't know who made the who made the claim whatever who ordered the but snaps modest must've just in the race and i have nothing to hide so i don't care i mean it's a little bit weird mine Tricky situation because yesterday but they also went to my phone my everything what happened apiece. Talk nothing room and gadgets. Five fifteen policemen hotel. I don't know how many because i didn't call them but many many such everything we've got Every single one of us bonds yeah the polls and computer so some rather other computers plastic bags and they were told that they would see them into two against mattie march. It's a story that we will. I'm sure continue to follow. And if we hear any more bites it will obviously say it am in the podcast but I'm not sure anything will come for the last couple of days of the tour de france. Francois we're in the pair knees final appearance. Today and we had up north while towards bordeaux more in the sprint stage. We expect button. What have you got for us. In the way of culture and songs and words writers a few things of course. I mean the worth of the dave for me would be miracle. Which is the same word in french. Mia class we pronounce it differently. The same were only slightly different. Shannon's aca the same to me but yeah anyways We went through lual today. leonard bernie's favorite city Well lots of an well. Lots of people's favorite favorite city. But we don't know about lule the book you know. San benedict subaru. You know At an appearance of the Of the virgin. Mary and you know and so all this business of religion in inland started so miracle a miracle today would be for that pugachev to lose the tour de france. But you never know you know. We're an area where miracles happen. I mean some you know Spas unicef vineyard. God and richard will be hoping for a miracle to happen before the end of the tour but we really don't really believe Something We and in a way we hope nothing happens. You know you punctured dominated. The torchy's i believe in miracles going to be your song. I might least on this one but but it won't be the song you'll you see what is going to be. He's the place. Also you can buy the warsaw. Yeah of course you can watch us make beuge candles Also to to to dedicate to the you've you've never been to to lewis buzz buzz.

"So the area of innocent disaster looking it but it is storytelling in terms of running a business thing of to the hot by so i had no real instinct for numbers and no. I don't think i've ever had i think is the first time i've been forced now by chairman to put together a modeling plan because that just i was through. I've got really good networks. And i have always had this idea that if people aren't happy so when i started when i was on my own at the beginning would say not that i think once where someone wasn't happy with the result of the canvas and you pay what you think it's worth because people need to see value and consequently i've taken clients four or five places where they'll still engaged so i'm doing something but it's the honest be honest e for a lot of pr companies. I knew going in with fixated on reports great things equal way explaining where they went and where i've shot out on whatever. They sorry that i can go anywhere. Where for us the media relations. Soy's being about this is the story we tested. If it's not getting results will talk to the journalists. Have the relationships to go. Why isn't an interesting. Not now not today on a roll and then pivots and go back to the client garage. This isn't you know it's the conversation going on now. You go back to what you're doing all step into this dark room place and magic and safe it lands and sometimes you don't get the results that you want but it's important to either understand why or have the relationship to go. Can i try again a different way and keep going into you. get some kind of result or just. Don't give up and hasn't been a company. We just go back and so sorry your companies. Just boring no. "Upcoming episode on Finding Your Roots on PBS. Dr Gates, Good to have you again. Thank you, Scott for having me on your show. We have lunched Season seven of finding your roots. I can't believe it's amazing. It's amazing and this business second episode in Episode two. It's called Against all odds. And it features Andy Cohen and Nina Totenberg, as you know, Andy Cohen's media personality, and Nina is the famous NPR radio journalists and they meet ancestors who struggled mightily as we're going to hear to survive. Let's start with Andy Cohen and he grew up in ST Louis, where his family owned a food distribution company known as Last Co. And both of his parents worked there and as a youth, of course, So did Andy. The company's origins lay with the Andes. Great Grandfather Mandate. Lewis Allen Lewis came to America from Russia in the 18 nineties, when he was about 23 years old. He had nothing. Of course. He started out as a peddler, hauling his wares from farmhouse to farmhouse on foot before he was even able to afford awards in the cart. And he went on. He saved his pennies. And he found that a dry goods store that would eventually grow into Louis Allen sons and company and its acronym is last Go Now. A rival records show that Lewis came to America from a small town outside of the city of B, A. With stock in modern day Poland. It was at that time, part of the Russian empire located what was known that's pale of settlement. The records from the paler scarce we were able to show Andy Incredibly, the synagogue where his family most likely worshiped and to trace his Alan line. Their name was yelling Back in Russia. We traced the Alan line back to his fourth great grandfathers who were likely born in 17 50. A quarter of a century before the American revolution. Wow! Endings 100% Ashkenazi Jewish, but he had a beautiful, brilliant didna cousin who? Scarlett Johansson. Wow! On those. She's Scandinavian. Her mother is Jewish. And that's the connection. And now I'll tell you about Nina Totenberg need his father, Roman Totenberg was a world famous violinist suit. Let a truly epic life Roman was born in 1911 to middle class Jewish family. What is now pull it In part of the Russian Empire. He was a child prodigy and talents helped him survive and feed his family during the Russian revolution and the massive famines that followed that by the early 19 thirties, he had a fabulous career touring Europe in the Americas. And the statue is an artist's enabled him to immigrate to the United States as World War two loomed, But that didn't mean his family back in Europe was safe. After Roman came to America, his mother status, Wahba found yourself trapped in Paris, unable to leave due to American immigration quotas, and Roman Oh, Scott. It's so sad, desperately tried to get his mother out, found all these letters he wrote to all these government officials. And unlike the vast majority of European Jews, Nina's grandmother got out quickly because of that, the day after France surrendered to the Nazis standing Suada cross into port school the day after France surrendered. Wow! It was able to board one of the last ships carrying Jewish refugees to America, but that his mother has been saved. The family's ordeal wasn't over. His older sister need is on you, Nina. Stranded in Warsaw with her husband and child. When the Nazis invaded, Then fall of 1940. The Germans established a ghetto for Warsaw's Jewish population. You Nina's husband died in that ghetto, though you need to manage to obtain false papers and escaped with her young daughter, Miraculously. At least 10 of Romans. Many aunts, uncles and cousins perished in the Warsaw ghetto, and she had a famous didna cousin. And that was Carly. Simon. Really? Yeah. And of course I can't wait to see the show. It's on Wednesday nights on PBS. Check your local listings for the time and Dr Gates will talk to you again next week. Okay, Take.

Aging in Place with Dr. Randall Williams of WellSaid

"My Day promotes healthy independent aging. What it does is it links. An older adult with their family members loved ones or even their Formal or informal caregivers With a daily interaction and Senior is using a smart speaker of what was assistant device to Go through a program. Each day That program looks at and assesses seven different dimensions of wellbeing that are known to Create challenges to their independence. Things that you would Normally think of like Cognitive decline or balance or fall risk or physical decline. But also things that people don't necessarily Think about that are actually drivers of that loss of independence. Things like nutrition status or safety and security or mobility transportation So a different set of Issues are Evaluated and then within the program each day a senior can learn more about those areas. They can Get coaching They can go through exercises or other interventions to help strengthen her improve different areas of their wellbeing and then adds a result of that information of the and their loved ones can understand where there may be risks vulnerabilities where they might need additional support additional attention etc so that's the the essence of the my day program The back end of the product is a companion APP that allows family members to pair with the senior and for the senior to give permission for their data to be shared with others through that APP. And then Of course they're able to that and track mom and dad are doing Whether they're having any issues or challenges that need attention We also have another property called better every day. Which is a Flash briefing and a daily PODCAST Which is focusing on. The older adult population and again has the goal of helping inform them. Educate them equip them and inspire them to stay on top of the areas of active healthy aging. So that they can prolong that healthy aging stage of their lives so that product is also out there at this point. That's great. That's great so I love to get sort of concrete examples on imagining and maybe maybe can extend this but imagining the the senior would say to the device Start my day. I think. That's that's the application phrase and then the device was start a dialogue and whether that would be would it be would pick one of different domains to initiate or? Would it kind of go through a checklist of all the domains? How does that set up? Yeah so there's an initial assessment phase. Where all the domains are gathered over a several day period and then on assessment report that's generated that allows both the senior and the family member to identify areas that have additional or incremental Needs and then. Our system is actually a machine learning A product so on the back end of that interaction were able to optimize the content and the algorithms to Track and monitor the areas that need additional attention as well so the interaction actually customizes to the needs of the individual over time And then on approximately thirty to a cycle a comprehensive assessment is repeated so that we can track over time how folks are doing not only within the individual areas of concern over a comprehensive spectrum of areas as well and ask and I love the idea of the flash briefing as well as as you may know anomalous I love flash briefings. I think there's such an opportunity their education. Do you link that? Is there a direct link between the better everyday briefing and what's happening in in the my day skill or they relatively independent well it's interesting so they're intentionally synergistic which means that some of the areas overlap? And some of them. Don't I would say that Most importantly we think there's an audience out there of older adults who have interested in time but may not feel like they need to be Plugged into any kind of visibility or monitoring with their family members yet so in a sense the podcast or flash briefing formatted. Suada an invite folks in earlier in the spectrum of the issue process. It's also a way to equip them over time to try to stand pop of Areas of of need And so the content itself is geared toward prevention if you will or You know staying on top of of healthy Status and then. A lot of the content is then repurpose When we find there are areas that are particularly interesting to our podcast episode listeners. We can then test that out within the my day format as part of the content menus and so forth. So we think there's a lot of repurposing a lot of synergy to content itself but we set them up initially as separate products because we think they serve kind of separate needs or solve separate problems at this point

After yesterday's dramatic attempt to oust Venezuela's president. We take a look at coups around the world, what makes them happy. What makes them succeed, and what are the risks for coup-plotters fail? And a surprise raid on North Korea's embassy in Madrid reveals just how difficult and thankless it is to be a dissident against the North Korean regime. But I. In Venezuela yesterday, the opposition leader one Guido made his move to try to overthrow the embattled President Nicolas muddle, he claimed his operation. Liberty would be the final push to depose a man who has retained power only through a sham election. Mr. Guido is supported by millions of Venezuelans or suffering from regime inflicted hunger and hardship. But it's the support of the military. He needs in order to take power. And despite promising early signs not enough of them decided to abandon Mr. Muto. Lobue leniency called Pai tau. In a defiant television address, the president called the attempt of failure lambasting those who handed their souls over to the coup mongering, far, right? I was waking up shortly after six AM by the sound of saucepans being bashed, which is a traditional form of protest in Venezuela. Stephen Gibbs rights for the economist he was among the crowds in the capital Caracas yesterday as events unfolded. And it soon transpired what was going on. And that was the one I do was calling for a military uprising. We went over the us. Lootah bell imprinting gynecology perfume in no fuel inter inter one hundred zero as soon became apparent that. This was by no means a normal day all shops with barricaded opposite. As they usually are when there is a protest, but this was not a typical protest because a Hong wide other was out with soldiers. And they were all standing on this a motorway that overlooks the military basement airbase right in the center of Caracas and those soldiers will wearing blue on bans as a symbol of their defection and the crowds grew and grew. An inside that base. The sort of big question was whether the people inside the soldiers, the conscripts inside would he'd what those outside were saying, which is come and join us rebel against the Madora government. Pretty quick it became apparent that. They weren't going to do that it will far in ice towards the crowns toward us that were just on the other side of the barricade. And then things got even uglier the rebel soldiers. Apparently sort of rattled by something began to fire live rounds into the air. That go to whole lot of people running and it was a precarious situation. And then there was a sort of a standoff that lasted for several hours. One of the more striking things that was was. There was Leopold Lopez. He is Venezuela's most famous political prisoner. He's been in jail or under house arrest since twenty fourteen. So to see him walking the streets. Not balking particularly far was quite extraordinary in in. He managed to release himself by a defection of those people that were guarding him. So it was clear that this wasn't as I say a normal protest. Something unusual was going on that went on for several hours until after the tear gas through gone on bearable. Most of the protesters recapped to the square in out mirror here in eastern Caracas. And there was quite oh and Leopoldo Lopez and several members of the national guard who had defected, and they were being sort of hugged by supporters. They were some of them with. With the family, and this was the image. Of course, the opposition was hoping would be repeated massively across the country. This is what they're trying to do. They're trying to do a sort of fell revolution where the feared security forces. Give up put down their arms and say, you know, we're not going to support Madore or anymore where with this new president and everything's going to change. It didn't happen. It sounds like there was good public supports on the streets anyway for Mr. Guido or the people rallying behind him more widely. The short answer is. Yes, I mean, given that he was a relatively unknown figure last year. And now he is unquestionably the most famous opposition leader in Suada. It is probably were saying that a lot of the support for two is a sort of protest vote against Maduro Midori is not popular. But he given that he is saying that he's leading a popular revolu. Nation that in his last a contested election. The one that you know, Guido and the opposition and much of the international community says was rigged last year in a he's standing for reelection. Or he stood for reelection. In the midst of the deepest recession in the world inflation heading for ten million percent, everyone feeling poor more miserable public services here. Collapsing. So, you know, the idea that he could really come on Syria support seems implausible and what about the military whose allegiance has always been the Lynch pin here. What what support does Mr. Guido have from them? I mean, it might be fair to say not as much support as he hopes since he came on the scene in early January. He has repeatedly said look, I can only do this. If the military come with me, I think there's no question in the lower ranks of the army and the forces people know happy head because they're suffering. Exactly the same way the most. Venezuelan's suffering. The problem is that the high ranking generals and the of Venezuela that notoriously has a top heavy army with with thousands of generals a lot of them on a benefiting from the chaos here from the corruption which Unity's that may afford them a new also the whole forces. This is one of the things that were job is Maderas assisted. Did he politicized that institution? Effectively everyone sort of fouls their allegiance to the socialist, revolution and not just Venezuela. So it is a relatively world controlled institution. As as one guy to is is finding out and what will happen to Mr White. Oh, if this fails altogether. If this fails, which is perfectly probable identing it's necessarily the end of quavo. You know, he will probably continue an hope that the drip-by-drip discontent in the military against Maduro. We'll alternate. Really bear fruit. And I think the other person to watch is there Puerto Lopez. He's now out of house arrest. He's going to be living. It seems in the Spanish embassy. That means he's conceive people. He can meet people he can negotiate and that will be an instinct additional little twist to this long-running saga.
