"So, Steve, help me understand what is the next step then for Stuart Rhodes? What happens? Because if the government did indeed perjure themselves, wouldn't that potentially weaken the government's case? Yeah, right now I have been in many, many long discussions with various Oak Keepers attorneys from that trial. I've had a lot of time with three of them specifically over the last week since we released this information about these two Capitol Police officers. And obviously they're hot. They wish that they had had this information available to them a year ago during this trial. It was withheld from them. These actual cameras were withheld from them. They didn't have them because these cameras that we were given access to are located in what they call highly sensitive parts of the Capitol building. And so those were not available to them during their discovery process. And so there are talks right now between the various Oak Keepers defense attorneys to file emergency motions to get the attention of the judge, to get the attention of the Department of Justice, and maybe get an accelerated appeal process so these circumstances can be presented to the court. So this opens up a bigger question. How many of these defendants are really in kind of Soviet show trial type situations where there could be exculpatory evidence, right? And another one of this is another question is how were the doors opened because they could only be opened from the inside. I'm sure you've been curious about that. So the footage is just one part of this, though. The government could be potentially setting a standard or a precedent where appeal judges or appeal courts could be overturning some of these convictions. But the government doesn't this particular Oak Keepers trial, and there were three Oak Keepers trial, and then of course the big Proud Boys trial earlier this year. But in those Marquis trials, they got their pound of flesh, they got their notches and their gun belts, and they don't really care what happens in the appeal process at this point.

"Listen. Yeah, these 1145 I'm Dimitri sodas. Thank you for being with us. Founder of the oath keepers has been sentenced tonight to 18 years in prison for orchestrating a week's long plot that led up to his followers attacking the U.S. capitol on January 6th, 2021. Stuart Rhodes is the first person charged in the January 6th attack to be sentenced for seditious conspiracy. It's the longest term that's been given to any of the hundreds of people found guilty for their involvement in the capitol riot, should be as news congressional correspondent Scott McFarland has been closely following the case and joined WTO Sean and Hillary earlier to discuss what the judge had to say during road sentencing. The judge said that Stuart Rhodes is threatening democracy and continues to imperil the United States and said that Rhodes is still continuing with this radicalized talk even from the jailhouse and handed down the longest sentence in any January 6 case and warrant that democracy is still at risk in that the nation is quote holding its collective breath as the next election approaches. So what did road say in his address to the court before that sentence was handed down? He started off by saying that he's a political prisoner and that he's been targeted by in his words the radical left. Typically at these January 6th sentencing hearings and we've been to hundreds of them. The defendants will express some form of apology or remorse to get the better graces of the judge. That was not Stuart Rhodes today. He was strident. He was invective and he was absolutely unapologetic about what happened that day. Could this be a prelude Scott to the kind of sentence that might be handed down to other proud boy members, including former leader and regulator? Yeah, the Proud Boys also convicted of seditious conspiracy, also face sentencing soon. It'll happen in August. Rhodes is oath keepers co defendant Kelly megs also convicted of seditious conspiracy as being sentenced right now here at the federal courthouse. Stewart Rhodes case was kind of one of a kind and the judge said as much, but it does set a precedent and a baseline for these other January 6th seditious conspiracy cases to come. This 18 years is a marker. CBS News, congressional correspondent Scott McFarland, at the end, he was talking about another oath keepers member Kelly maggs, Kelly mags we learned was sentenced to a dozen years in prison. Proud Boys and Oath Keepers Face Severe Sentencing for Capitol Attack
"Why don't you tell us who was sentenced and what their sentences are or are likely to be? So in terms of the sentences for seditious conspiracy, four members of the Proud Boys were found guilty of that extremely rare statute that was established during the Civil War to stop the confederacy from overtaking the United States government. It has been weaponized to criminalize political dissent. Or Proud Boys found guilty of seditious conspiracy last week. You have numerous oath keepers who have also been convicted and or pleaded guilty to that charge. What happened to date after the verdicts were announced, Dennis is Matthew grace, the D.C. U.S. attorney posted a 183 page sentencing recommendation for the oath keepers, including Stuart Rhodes, its founder and leader. And the prison sentence is that Matthew graves wants the judge to approve. Matthew graves once 25 years in prison for Stuart Rhodes for being convicted of seditious conspiracy in other counts. 20 years in prison for another man, Kelly Meg, who went inside the building. Now keep in mind, short roads never went inside the building, none of them carried or used weapons. None of them assaulted police officers. These are strictly conspiracy and obstruction counts. And Dennis, what really turned my stomach is Matthew graves wanting 14 years in prison for a man named Thomas Caldwell, who is almost 70 years old, who is a decorated disabled navy lieutenant commander who used to have the highest security clearance. He also never went into the building. He was convicted of obstruction of an official proceeding, a post enhanced statute, by the way, and tampering with evidence. And these ghouls in the Department of Justice is particularly Matthew graves, the Biden campaign adviser and Biden appointee wants someone like Thomas Caldwell to die in prison. Because he was convicted by a D.C. jury of obstructing an official proceeding.

In San Francisco, Ahmed Baxter, this is Bloomberg, all right, Brian. All right, thanks very much. It's time for the daybreak Asia media and tea leaves review, taking a look at some of these stories in the Chinese press yesterday, quite interesting this commentary in the people's daily, it calls for people's unity and cooperation in order for the country to do its COVID prevention and control. So there's a softer tone to this. It's more like a request for understanding among people. It's a commentary that is under the pen name Zhong yin, and it says that people should follow the new 20 point playbook that was put out by the government, with COVID cases still rising. It says everyone should recognize the challenge and show more understanding and be cooperative. So that's a request to stick with the rules. But then we had an effective easing yesterday. And I've just put together 5 or 6 points you make your own judgment on it. The national health commission said excessive curbs should be avoided. And that's even as the virus continues to spread. So another indication of softening. China must reduce the inconvenience caused by the outbreak. That's another. People who don't, or people who do stay at home, don't need frequent frequent COVID tests. .4 the elderly and students taking online classes, they should be exempt from the daily tests in Guangzhou. And movement restrictions imposed in Beijing, generally must not exceed 24 hours. And of course, the big one was, pushing the vaccination for the elderly. A couple of other quick points here in some other areas from the FT, Alibaba founder Jack Ma has been living in Tokyo for nearly 6 months. The paper sites unidentified people with direct knowledge of his whereabouts must stay in Japan with his family, has included some trips out of the country to places like the U.S. and Israel. And also from Dow Jones that OPEC and other big oil producers are likely to decide to keep output levels flat at their meeting on Sunday. As a look at the media, we shot to you. Okay, well, we got the fed's rate hikes. We've got COVID, the COVID dilemma China's facing and the current crypto implosion. Well, they all planting seeds of a global recession that has yet to arrive, but some would say is starting to look inevitable if you wanted to have more confirmation of this. We just had Japanese October industrial output contracting 2.6% of the figures -2.6%. We were actually looking for contraction month on month of about 1.8% so it was worse than anticipated. Let's join Edward Harrison Bloomberg senior markets editor. That's really the moment reinforcing this point. Is it not? Definitely. I think that we've held up fairly well given how quickly central banks have raised interest rates. And slowly but surely many different economies are falling, we see Japan having fallen. It looks like Europe is also potentially already in a recession. Same thing with the UK and the United States is smelling like a rose on a relative basis, if you will. But our equity markets globally getting too far out in front of what might be. A slower pace of raising by central banks generally. I think that the equity markets are still looking for a reprieve from the Central Bank because they understand that a recession is coming. If you look at something like the near term forward spread, what's the fed considers its ultimate gauge of recession risk going forward? That's moved into negative territory. That suggests in the future we're going to have a recession. Normally, the fed wouldn't be relenting at that point, but we just had Jim bullard the St. Louis president of the fed come out and say 4.9% was the minimum that the fed was going to raise rates to. And this is a percent more than where we are today. And we already have the sign of recession. What the near term forward spread. Okay, so that brings me nicely also to talk about what's going on
