"At the time, it felt like real real accomplishment. But you know what got to win? You gotta win. Eight five five two one two four CBS is the phone number. Speaking of the bills criticism, buffalo, what brother you're on. CBS sports radio. Yeah. Well, I, I said, the bills on time buffalo fan from buffalo. But that's the news. And that was both physical and emotional first year, fourteen when the nineteen ninety one I got the giants fog after missing the last two bottles that first of all we should have wanted to chain, not only emotional painful, but like actually physically capable because we should have blown the giants of the water. The sabres which, you know, they have that nineteen ninety eight against Dallas Stars, no goal, and then two thousand six it's Rui and has Ryan Miller, we lost Caroline, major conference finals, and ever since then we've been pretty much the low man on the totem pole. Yeah. No, they're both. They're both gillen's VIN. They, they really are. I, I was trying to think of the market, that's the most curse to like, because it's again, I don't know that you can claim Chicago's a cubs fan. If you had the bulls, either because they're painful thing. Eight five five two one two four CBS is the phone number, when's the last time that Arizona one championship? That's a pretty good one. We got to where I live. I live in a beach community where folks will rent out, their homes for three or four weeks to the people in the summer, and we've got a really nice family living on the street for three or four weeks. And the dad works at the university of Arizona, and I was thinking about Arizona. Right. That's a that's a really good one. And we've got folks from all over the country at eight five five two one two, four CBS, including from California to talk about Arizona. Anthony hanging on the west coast, buddy, you're on you're on CBS sports radio. What's going on guys? So I'm taking a bullet for there is on a cardinal. That's Louis and more specifically for what Larry Fitzgerald's done for that franchise because I feel like the guys deserved it sticking it out with all those horrible quarterbacks. Oh, yeah. Do you know what we didn't thanks for the call? Anthony, we haven't done that. But like who would you take a bullet for any athlete, don't know that I would? But if I did I don't even know Larry Fisher. I I've interviewed him three two or three times. That's great. That's a great guy. That's nice and cool of normal guys you can find these obviously, multimillionaire athlete. Good call. He does his Irv it. When's the last time Arizona wanna championship, and they wanna championship just a one that's it? Oh, one D-Backs. That's right. The longtime ago. And that is a big cool vibe market. And there are a disproportionate number of professional athletes live in there. So it's got a real sports five to it. It's obviously a year round sports area. It gets hot in the summer, but you can if you can play tennis, you can leave while you can play baseball. I mean year round obviously zone is a good one. Let's. Let's go to Florida. CBS sports radio. Oh young guys. I'm not a bad guy general account. I'm a good guy. Just put a patriots man, just to win one thinking, Super Bowl man. Get out here. But I'm also with, you know, man, you guys got you don't need to harm yourself. You've got your going to get another one Tom Brady is from the future and is brought back nanotechnology. He's forty two going on twenty three forever. Little nail bots, and there he probably shoot and they just repair them scifi craziness. I asked Stu and tries to name any scifi show of any kind. They, they liked and they couldn't do it. That was a nice moment on the show. I might take a bull my leg just from that not to be true. But I don't want to because it would hurt. Eight five five two one two four CBS, Alaska Jack what you're on CBS sports radio. Nice talking to you, and Hello everybody from Alaska. Listen, I'm not gonna take a bullet for the chiefs to finally win a meaningful game in the postseason because we've suffered enough it was great. You know that the royals won a few years ago, and then somebody brought up the Buffalo Bills. That was terrible in the nineties, but we don't want to go thirteen three anymore. The differences, we've had great teams are winning percentage during the nineties. They were tough tough losses. And I just hope Patrick Mahomes, the next two years finally bring the cheese championship, and that's all I got all hang up and listen. Thank you, Jack. Thanks, man. Donald people realize how brutal it's been for chiefs fans Montana, shun Heimer years. I mean you're talking about some really impressive quarterbacks that have rolled through there. I'm absolutely gannet was their blanket on Kurt Warner's back up in Saint Louis. That was back. The guy that he was the backup replaced jump in who is it still on there? It's still not on the buddy. Is Mike is bus at Trent. Green? Right. So we're. Green green. I mean they were awesome with green if at all priest Holmes all these. Yeah, the chiefs have been cursed for a long time. Poor, Stu Stewart shoot himself in the Thyroiditis from microphone works. Eight five five two one two four CBS Thomas. Seth carolina. What up you want CVS worth here on CBS sports radio? Hey, Bill, appreciate it. I don't know what his name is guy who started that question, I think was arm in the Georgia university of Georgia flex flagship station. So I've been hearing about that a lot earlier today 'cause I was Clemson flagship station in some, some fans were Texan in talk Georgia's premature second rival, and people are saying what is what is your ticket? Take a bullet in the side foot every year. Anyway. I would been blessed with as we want a couple of national championships football past couple years. I feel very strongly that will probably get one more in the next two or three years. So I will take a bullet normally full it to where the South Carolina Gamecocks never win a football championship in division, anything. I'll take a bullet for that. I like it. South Carolina and South Carolina crime. I respect do it do it that's him. And sometimes you got the good sides, gotta go to the dark side, sometime needs to Luke Skywalker. Sometimes you gotta be I almost made a trade show. Come do it. George Vader, little Darth Vader in your life. We are gonna by the way. Find out the name of that radio host and shadow amount appropriately is a great topic. We'll give him credit. We we call it the station a few times. But it is a very, very smart call good radio eight five five two one two four CBS, Georgia, Atlanta, Shelby lake Charles Louisiana. Timothy in South Carolina. Dale, missouri. Oliver in South Carolina. Stick with us. We will. Taking these phone calls. We love talking what you wanna talk about. And we'll do that here on the show rather than you with me Bill or your calls continue on, whether you take a bullet for your team after the CBS sports radio update with Peter Schwartz. Sports play. "Queens championship Brown on the twenty four hour home of CBS sports. Brian hickey. My man good buddy making the board. I'm okay. Yeah, thanks my favorite on the show. Thanks bill. I want, you know that Stu Stewart bell? Eight five five to one two four CBS is the phone number. All right. So you guys wanna hear my my complain about about my airline yesterday? Absolutely explode delays happen. There's a time my life routes been one hundred twenty thousand miles a year flying around a lot of time I live, and I'll just get used to it happens. But I'm in Vegas yesterday. My brother and I had to leave for a six o'clock flight. So I left at four o'clock. Right. Get in get seven game of thrones Lori and. I'm playing cards, my brothers in this big term it, what she did well. And I'm hanging out with him or, you know, we're chilling together talking to on the brakes, and I get I get in the tax code of the airport. Check in look down for became five four hour delay at the airport, notice just I'm just saying we, they've invented this thing called phones. Just send the alert your flight is delayed continued to gamble. I mean, that's, that's all that's all mascot for. I don't know. But he cares. Ryan cares. Thank you for your can see on your face. I really enjoyed getting to in the morning and waking up the Lakers news. Okay. I'm done complaining. Eight five five two one two four CBS is the phone number here my takeaways to these, you know what brand has been holding. Let's get Brandon first. And then I'll give him. I take then we'll get to see if Stu and Ryan can throw a more dysfunctional organization toward me right now. Than the Los Angeles Lakers. You guys think about let's go to Brandon I in North Carolina. Brandon. Listen and brother. You're on CBS sports radio. Hey, what's going on? Sports radio. My daughter. She doesn't play. Let your point. I'm like that. Well, what's. That. But. I disagree with you about magic. I feel like going with the. You too with your take. For him coming out, because I think yeah. He's too big of a guy to be a foot soldier and just be quiet. The road. If you agree that the providence. You can't get cancer out there. And I think that's what he was doing. I at somebody that does care about the Lakers organizations since his down to. Got it down to one. That said that one guy, I think he's doing the Lakers of service by calling. Get him out of there in the Lakers can do better. I'm not even fan just objectively, speaking can we could we ran, it can be shut out your daughter? A quick. Yeah. Brianna. What's up your dad is awesome, Brandon thanks for the call. So it's a great. It's a great tank. It's an interesting perspective. Let me let me offer. Why disagree, why respectfully disagree if Magic Johnson round the outside looking in the Lakers organization and had no means by which to get rid of that malignancy if that's what he is in rob Blanca. I might understand more going this route the Magic Johnson was the president of basketball operations. Magic Johnson and said the genie it's him or it's me. Rob. Pelinka doesn't have a job anymore. And if he does then magic has the Clair's everyone's because genie lie to him. She said you're in charge wasn't in charge. I think what magic did was it was cowardly. He had a role. Rica, call rob Lincoln. He could have gone Jimmy bus. They just had dinner of three or four weeks ago, just after he left and said, hey, here's what I've since her. I'm with you. He's not Magic Johnson. You're never going to be a foot soldier in anybody. But there is a way is a former general. To be gracious to genius. And I don't think he did it. This is like if I can use a godfather now, Michael Moore Leoni to got his enemy at a public restaurant, but there was no. Casualty beyond his target. This is just going to the pizzeria with the Tommy gun is open, a lot of people of the rob linka got hit in this one. Magic Johnson damage Lakers. He may genie looking confident. He made this organization look like a joke in, by the way. I don't think he made himself. Look particularly impressive either you watch the whole interview on I take. Beyond the, the sound bites. There are times Magic's talking about the leader's of the Lakers, roster and Randall's deal where what he's saying isn't accurate. He got some details wrong. Not ideal. To not know what you're talking about an advertise that. Magic Johnson could have fired Palinka instead he quit the job. And I don't believe imagine even told you, he was warned when Pelinka got hired to watch his bag with blanket, which I are the same thing. He knew. He just didn't want to be the guy that it'd be confrontational, by the way. Maj was terrible. President of operations, obviously not going to be the boss. Say Kosei like associate move, don't like it. And that'll mean compliment. He would fill up the room with his joy in his vision. Well, sometimes when you're the boss, you gotta fill the room with your silence in your judgment. Imagine wasn't willing to do that. Here for me. Are the primary takeaway from today? And all the guys can can stump me here with a with a better a more incompetent organization than the Lakers. And if you wanna try sportswriter sports, REI C are now. We already have one pretty good. John minal tweets. Hey, billy. Johnny. Hey Billy will the Miami Marlins with the Marmi Marlins doing their stuff down there? Are they in this most dysfunctional category? That's great home. Yes, yes. They are only jeeter that looking at yellow stand, but jeeter didn't exactly take over in organization. That's the Yankees right? The dodgers. The Lakers are the NBA the Lakers and the Celtics are the brands that define the National Basketball Association. Eight five five four CBS are here. My first Kurt Rambis has an enormous amount of power. The fact that Vogel. Thanked Rambiz is incredibly significant. Secondly magic wasn't lying about the power structure. He thought who's in charge and he wasn't Pelinka's pretending he's in charge, and he's not Pelinka has genie to sign off on every basketball season. That's what he said, genie's going to turn to Linda Rams. First Lind is going to turn her husband, Kurt, and that's why Vogel thanked her Rambus Pelinka's not as powerful as he thinks he is. Or is he's pretending to be Linda Ramseys. Magic betrayed the Lakers. It's a betrayal, what he said today, but he was also telling the truth. Eight five five two one two four CBS, our guys. Gimme. Ryan Hickey the first. Sure. Yeah. I like that pens, HR. Thank you giving Notre Dame. We played it on the recap. I think you, you hate Notre Dame. Even though you can't say even you can't answer the question what on? Let's just talk about the Lakers. I'd rather folks in the Lakers, give me yes, please, give me a more dysfunctional organization in sports than the Los Angeles Lakers. It's tough. But if you look at what the New York Jets do right now where Heather G N argon hotseat allowed him to pick a head coach then have that head coach turn on the guy who hired him then, again, to a power struggle still at the GM go through free agency spend a boatload of money go through the entire draft pick. All the players that apparently the head coach was now willing to draft and now willing to sign and now there's rumors that they may trade their biggest guy things on bell before the season starts because their head coach, that's pretty dysfunctional jets fan. I am not no FAM. That's right. That's right. I was about to make money and I just Mr. myself show writer. No. You know, writer no your show. The jets are the jets are going. They're going. I still think the magic Jason Kidd, couldn't hire the coaches you wanted money Williams going to be on the TV show tomorrow. So I'm definitely going to get his perspective. On this deal, Stewart Kovacs you are Lakers fan. I am can you lift the Lakers out of the dysfunctional power rankings by giving us some other names. It's going to be tough. I think the raiders are up there. I think with Gruden Mark Davis. They don't have a home. The ownerships pretty bad. They're pretty much laughingstock the NFL right now. I think the raiders are up there hours will put the Knicks up there again. The ownership, I think James Dolan. It's just a mess. There always is a mess there. They haven't wanted so long. So I think those for me would be up there. It's hard to argue the Lakers but those from your a right up there. I mean the thing is you're not wrong. You can kind of I think this is limited thing about how far the Lakers have fallen. That were having a conversation about the Knicks the raiders the jets the Marlins or the Lakers. And it's not a it's not a stretch. It's not a hot take that. Oh, there's writer again. I mean, this is this is how far they phone. What an utter and total disaster. Greg lake Charles. Happy Monday here on CBS sports radio. Yes, sir. Thank you for taking my call. And what's a nation? Yeah. Man. I'm I'm totally disagree with you on this, you know, you might guy you might guy but, you know, I called in and actually of a couple of weeks back, I think all week or so. And I said, the same thing, one owner you would allow to, you know, Maryland all the business like she was doing. And basically what he was really saying was what out saying. It is genius in overhead, and she had all kinds of stuff going around. So when you say he could have fired Lincoln, he didn't even higher. So how could he have fire somebody? He didn't even hired the owner. You can't use the owner so that I thought he can turn everything. I thought, thank you, Jay gray. Call greg. I think if you're going to blow it up below it up that way. You call Jeannie. You tell her you're firing pulling. And she overrides you say this isn't the job, you promised me, and I'm leaving. I'm nobody. I've had those conversations bosses. I want to boss man that I love and respect he passed away. But. Visit throw salad having twenty four. This is not the job, you're Cosby, and I'm not doing this job. That's a great story. I was young and aggressive little kept guitar. Clutch next CBS sports radio. Dad. What are you doing cramming for college? I'm the one going to call it, we need to figure out how we're gonna pay for it all. Discover student loans discovered a student loans. "Great crowd of bearcat bands in the house. They always have awesome questions for the coach. Let's get to their questions. Jim take it away. Okay. Paul. Thank started tonight. Coach congratulations on wonderful season. So far, so good. Appreciate so far. Huda thunk back in August. I can't help. But say this you have a beautiful family. Joyce. I appreciate that. That's about their max after about an hour and five minutes or so you that you see him I notice nobody's eating broccoli. At some point in time. I'm sure. Questions about kids in the program that have played for three or more years. What do you think the biggest lesson? They learned this year about themselves after a couple of years of not so successful play. Hopefully that it's not all about talent. You know? It's just like anything in life and being successful. It's not about your talent. And I think that we try to make that point. We had talent last year. We have talent this year. I'm not sure that we didn't. We had five guys right now that are on an NFL Rauscher from last year's team to a more active one starting in three of them on a practice squad. So that we had talent. But yet we didn't perform and we didn't play. Well, and it's it's not about the talent. It's about your ability to relate to one another to understand that everybody relies upon each other and together everybody's going to achieve more. If you can find the way to work together in in the selfish world that we all live in. So I hope and I believe that those guys are now recognizing that. Because we've talked. Talked about it since the time we walked in. And they see a little bit of that transformation. I think that we all see better than we hear when you win. It becomes a little more evident. Glad you mentioned the NFL players because how 'bout big country. I know started started his first NFL game last weekend. One of the last players taken in this year's draft. And sure enough in his rookie year. He's starting for the cardinal. That's awesome. They were telling me about it today. And I had heard that we play the week before. And he'd started this week haven't had a chance to actually reach out to him and say, congratulations. A little bit busy. But I told him I said after this week. I always follow the guys and make sure you know, we can week out. Just tried on my Sunday night routine to figure out who was playing did anybody get eight cares. It might get any carries anything like that. And so I'm excited to try to get a hold of here in a couple of weeks. All right. It's move over to Stu Stewart's, Dan. We just decided we beat that one. Okay. All right. Sorry. Sorry. I didn't know it was over. I to get the. You'd call me anything answer to it. Yeah. I agree. Congratulations on an awesome season. Nobody nobody really realized how far you would come from four eight season like getting back to the talent. And and maybe it's a little too soon to talk about recruiting. But watching the talent that central Florida displayed on the field. I just can you talk a little bit about what health are looking as far as recruiting for the next class. Well, I think talent is a big deal. And we talked about it in the off season about we had to do some things and recruiting is one of the talent the talent has also developed, and you know, I think that that's what what plan a game like that. I think it's eye-opening for some for some players all of a sudden get an opportunity to to get out there. And I'm talking younger guys. You know, we have a corner young corner that maybe gave up a big play. And I hope and I really hope believed that he learns and realize it's like, oh my goodness. This is what the the best or this is what the top of the line really looks like if I want to be that. I gotta get bigger. I gotta. Get stronger. I gotta get faster. Now is he gonna change from four five guy to a four three guy? No. But that's not what we're talking about truly detention to detail doing the little things the things that you can increase your ten percent genetic potential. So I hope that game like that. You learn a lot of those things I think the offensive line learned and saw that's the best defensive front. Maybe we had seen in a while. And you realize if you want to be the best you got to pick your game up with that. So I think that has to do with our guys that are there. And then, you know, the the exposure, I think definitely the way we played this year. And I think guys start to believe because even in recruiting now, you can talk all you wanna talk. But you know, those guys see better than they here as well. And when they see the progression. They see the the development and those kinds of things in your program. I think for us it's going to vote well because we're going to get them in the door. And when we get them in the door. They'll realize who we are and what we're all about. And if it's the right place for them. You'll start to see a lot more of those guys. All right. We're here to Tom. I coach couple three games shows ago. I was talking about coal Smith and his poise and all that kind of good stuff. And I are from given up on him. I'm sure you haven't either. And what is your? I know it's not the end of the season yet. But what's your strategy? What what do you do that to help a kid like that you bring somebody in you? Depend on coaches you bring another kicker in. You know, what do you do that? Yeah. We're we're trying to look at that. We're trying to find out who can you know, who's the best to talk to him. You know, I think he understands and knows that we believe in him. You know, there's nobody blowing up on him or anything like that. We've got to put him in those situations that you know, that when we have this year we tried to kind of pick and choose the situations. To give him an opportunity if we could to be successful. But you know, at times you're going to be thrown out there in a game like that. And you'd like for the first one to be, you know, a chip shot. You know, and I think missing one probably put him in a bad situation. And maybe I know the last one I was really kinda, hey, let's get a few yards here in this third down because I'd like to go for it as opposed to maybe putting him in this situation. So I think we all got to do a better job, you know. And I think the preparation for him, and he will he he'll mature he understands and I think the strength of his room to Jimmy Smith in. I think it's going to be really good for him. So there's a lot of things we gotta do here. I'm not saying the off season because we still had a few weeks to make sure we've got him on back on track. But we haven't lost faith in and we'll just going to try to figure out what it exactly he needs. Coach. Can you talk a little bit about the noise, and how it affected the account and the ability to? I think most I had been used to be in environments that are loud, and and even working with the crowd, noise and practice, we haven't had to do that. We did it this week. I think but until the first time that you have to do it. I think it does affect you. I said we got a delay game. I think on the first snap then a false start on the second snap. You know, and all that has to do with crowd noise. And you know, so it's one of those another one of those things that hey, our first opportunity to be in that situation. I think now we realize in our guys realize we gotta do a better job of preparation and how we can handle it, you know, and they did a great job. I mean, we went with a silent count, and it gave that defense front a better chance because they'd see every time we tapped, and it was pretty consistent when we were snapping the ball. And I think after a series or to good teams like them kind of pick up on that. And I think it gave the defensive line for them a little advantage. All right tap for quick time out more questions from the audience when we continue..

"When it matters most and the big moment arrives. I think the chiefs and the patriots are better football teams. And I think either them if you made me choose now, which just did because owed the birthday boy in two weeks. I think maybe maybe just now it's just did I'm gonna choose both those teams Kansas City New England over Pittsburgh. We're going to stick with Pittsburgh still the status of running back lay. Von bell continues to be the question. They're running back has yet to report and now jams Connor who was filled in nicely for bell with one thousand one hundred and fifty eight yards from scrimmage and eleven touchdowns is now in concussion protocol buyer, sell the Steelers should welcome leave on bell back with open arms. If he decides he wants to play this season. I would I like lady on, but I would not I would not turn to him that quickly. I would give it a couple of weeks and see if there's another plug and play option on that roster. Deep deep on that roster. I mean, we just saw the young guy from Mississippi State step. The quarterback position for the Niners. Right. Like, you never know. You're coming off a win. It's a leverage play. I think it could do more harm than good in the locker room. I mean, if if James Connor it's a big if wasn't able to meet gauche protocol for weeks at a time, and you weren't able to win football games. Maybe I don't I don't think yet. Cell. "Sportswriter, sports REIT are give me your take on the Browns eight of the NFL or as several of you have in the last five minutes. What Denzel Washington movies too should watch? For the first time. I'd never seen. It Denzel mopey deplorable Juan tweets at sportswriter sports. REI TR students to watch Denzel Washington movie called carbon copy hilarious. I've never even heard of it. But Adama list now deplorable were there, we got you and Will Smith, and I don't think it's the one you're thinking of her. I'm thinking of tweets sportsreiter, sports, REIT our man on fire. We're going to get a running tally. You can tweet at me. Sports writers sports. At Stu, Stewart, Kovac CBS or just calls to close to be has more trade. It'd be like here's the movie, you can just hang up. We'd love your talk sports too. But he loves taking calls about Denzel Washington at a five two one two four CBS. Speaking about sports, let's go out to Scranton, Pennsylvania, Markaz listening. Mark. Appreciate your brother. You're on CBS sports radio. Life town Browns fan, and I'll tell you what he had to go. They gave a more tools to work with this year. And he just couldn't get it done. And Hayley was not the right person. Either aren't predictable of an offense. Yeah. Haley's interesting guy because he's been successful. But he's been unlikable. Thank you for the call markets, a tough. It's a tough combo. The other reason I think if you're a Browns fan, you should be celebrating is this. I know it. It feels like an obvious thing. The guy's not very good. The guy can't win games. The guys wanna game in two years before this season. He should be fired. But it's the political maneuvering that had to happen for Dorsey to be allowed and able to do this. And you wanted that as quickly as possible trust me Dorsey did two doors. He was thanking the heavens. When he did that weird thrown me, one of the bus might take the play call calling moment a week ago because you want Hugh Jackson's hands on Baker mayfield's development as little as humanly possible you want him as far away from Baker Mayfield as you can possibly get him. You're talking about a guy who has started seven different quarterback seven in his tenure as the head coach of the Browns. You don't want him to be around Baker. But there's second year worker, my work or any work. There's politics that go on. So thank your lucky stars Browns fans. If baker's the guy if he's the guy he's got to have the right? Helping him and grim or in the minimum not damaging him the difference between Jared Goff is largely Jeff Fisher versus Sean McVay the difference between Mitchell Trubisky hope a bears fan has John FOX and the Gulf between him and Matt Nagy. It matters. I think I think Patrick Mahomes amazing. We all these amazing. We'll get to a little bit later. I mean, the guy may break Peyton Manning's all time touchdown record. And that doesn't include touchdowns on the ground, by the way. I mean, he's a stud, and I'm gonna taking anything away from a homes, but Andy Reid is significant to you have to have the right combination. No talent, no future. Promise. Does what it does without the right steward? At least the beginning to guide them. I'm sure Stewart investigates, Denzel Washington, you'll see a series of excellent directors who pointed him on a path that made it must viewing for Stewart. And if you look at some of the young quarterbacks in the National Football League, many of them required. The right. Head coach y'all grow the guy sometimes the protege outgrowths the mentor moves on. We may be seeing that in a significant way in Green Bay. And it would be interesting. If Mike McCann Mike McCarthy for all of the I think mediocrity that he has displayed in that job of late in the front office shares a lot of that blame. Mike McCarthy helped Aaron Rodgers navigate his growth as an NFL quarterback has development behind the scenes the really unfair situation where Brett farve retired. I'm retired. I'm mad at you. Maybe McCarthy with a fresh start would be an interesting choice. And it's a big maybe Dorsey can't get wrong for another young quarterback. Like Baker Mayfield. You have to have the right teacher for quarterbacks especially in the National Football League in two thousand eighteen eight five five two one two four CBS is a number max and LA. Thanks for listening to buddy, you're on CBS sports radio. Max. Hey, how you doing brother got the layover here? I'll get up. Am loving your show, man. I want to comment on the Hugh Hugh Jackson scenario watching hard knocks. Correct me if I'm wrong, I felt like I was watching big and little alpha with Baker Mayfield. I think it was a good change. They're going to do better now. And I'm looking forward to seeing that change brother max, I'm with you. There's nothing like untapped talent to root for, but it's got to have the ability to get work gotta go. I just thought of this. I could tweeted earlier, you can almost a sitcom, Hugh and Liu right? Like, they're both gone. You. I shouldn't say, I apologize. That's like Hugh Jackson coaching. It's not right. It's not the way it's supposed to be. But it is amazing. Hugh, Jackson Hewitt, Lou. It's amazing because it rhymes. That's why eight five five two one two four CBS time a loved word play Dorian and Oakland, California. Thank you for listening on the west coast. You're on CBS sports radio. All right. Thank you for having me. And I love the show. Thank you wanted to comment on the fans from Cleveland. I know you guys been way worse. I'm a raider fan. And I bet the way worse than the raider fan. And I see .pharmacy future. Maybe we could do a tray we could trade grooten and gives you guys in. We can move on. That's I that's all I wanted to say, I'm hopefully, you guys do good Cleveland. That's nice. You know, what sometimes better to laugh at kirtland cry laughing yourself and cry? How do you feel? How do you feel Stewart Kovacs that when we're talking about the lowly Cleveland Browns, an Oakland Raiders job actually fits that stuff? Yeah. It's pretty bad. Pretty awful to say, the least Stewart Kovacs, by the way is the voice you just heard that the executive producer? We're trying to find his first ever Denzel film. So if you wanna give recommendation Stewart Kovac CBS eight five five two one two four CBS the phone number eight five five two one two four CBS is the phone number and let me close with this on on Hugh Jackson. It's also was a reminder about how entrenched people who make decisions get when they're invested in someone. They've made a mistake on. And I've experienced this before I'm sure I've been the person that positive experience at through. And certainly for Jimmy has limited organization the more that they gave Hugh Jackson cover the more. They said now, he's the guy. We haven't done in the right situation. The more they got invested in that narrative someday. And the Browns are joke right now. I'm sorry. Cleveland fans Yar someday, you won't be and people are going to look back Warner's familiar with it and say to themselves how on earth that this guy remained the head coach for as long as he did eight five two one two four CBS even Houston. What's up, brother? You're on CBS sports radio. Hey, how you doing? Caller, longtime listener I just wanted to drop off widely exam half for the head coaching position with that's just opened up in Cleveland because my favorite human being after watching. Bob Wiley was a funny, dude. I they've got a couple of guys that have been head coaches. It was probably going to be Greg Williams, unfortunately for Bob Wiley when the guy like you Jackson gets the pink slip. It is almost every guy that's in that organization and a coaching levels gonna go and she'll go it's got to be a fresh start. But I'm with man. Bob Marley was a funny dude on that show. One of the few moments for the Browns are we're going to little buyer or sell. We're gonna hit the biggest stories in sports and let you know which side we come down on. It's coming up in a moment on righter than you with me. Bill Ryder after we get a CBS sports update. Would Jay Berman? Sports flash. Right Bill before we get to the Browns. Let's start the NBA. We have two games in progress. Both in the first quarter Pacers lead, the blazers thirteen eleven also the Sixers and the hawks are in Philadelphia. And the hawks lead sixteen thirteen two more games about to get underway. Nets and Nixon New York kings at heat in Miami. Very interesting game coming up at the top of the hour, raptors and bucks or both six and all but we'll both be without their best player. No Kawai for Toronto Janas four Milwaukee. Again, they'll get going shortly after eight o'clock eastern time just that's the top of the hour. Browns have indeed fired Hugh Jackson. He had this and next year remaining on his contract. So the Browns will be contractually obligated to him through twenty nineteen offensive coordinator. Todd. Haley also gets the boob. Cleveland's interim head coaches defensive coordinator, Greg Williams. Freddie kitchens is the new Browns up of coordinator. Ryan Fitzpatrick will start on Sunday for Tampa Bay. It was James's job up until yesterday when he was benched for Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, getting set for Monday night football, good, one between the bills and the patriots bills or two and five pats are five and two and the patriots are favored by thirteen and a half about that. Meanwhile, the patriots will discipline discipline. Josh Gordon tonight because of tardiness he's expected to be kept off the field for several series roughly the first quarter, and then they'll continue to get him back into play after that small suspension. I'm Jay Berman. This is rich Ackerman eye on college football means great college football coverage Saturday at noon eastern, nine Pacific on CBS sports radio. This. "And the giants that I got this one wrong. I really thought the giants. I wasn't super bullish on the giants. And I didn't think they were gonna win the Super Bowl. But I thought they could be what maybe the Browns like so far this year, which is a bad team last year that could be mediocre enough and competitive enough in games that the line between six and ten wins would be would come down to a handful of situations and opportunities, and we'd see what side they come out on hasn't been that they've been a bad football team. They've been a bad football team. And I know that's going to create a lot more pressure and buzz around the idea, why would you pass on saquon Barkley, or why would you take saquon Barkley when you could have taken a quarterback of the future and to be fair. Every guy that's been drafted this year. You're in the first round at the quarterback position. Looks at a minimum pretty promising every guys in a different situation. They're giving some guys more rope than others. I'm a big Josh Rosen guy. But here's like the handcuffs. Are there a little a little more than there should be? There's a pressure on this organization just to win some football game. So people don't in New York, man. People get crazy. So the narrative doesn't become especially with Eli not planning the level. He needs to what in the hell. Were you guys thinking eight five five two one two four CBS at the phone number. Are you what side are you on this thing on the bedding? And Tom Di Benedetto, we have a new segment coming by the way a week from now, and we're still formulating it because we have it depends where we take Tom's last name and take d Bennett, the bend Benedetto and turn into, you know, word it's not and Tom really likes puns. He's just always like man KiKi tumour punt. So Tom doesn't against the spread competition with his girlfriend every week. It's every game against the spreads for pride. She is three in one over the course of their relationship slash competition. The NFL season. So we're going to do a segment called. Tom's debates that we're going to do it off. Are you bats? Yeah. That that make you money tomorrow. The Tom are tommorrow, they'll make you money almost makes sense. So good. I mean, the wagers on Fridays. I guess it'll make this show called rather than your doesn't have to be accurate. What are those three are the eagles three and a half point favorites on their own? I think the real line right now is one and a half. I got minus three through. Yahoo sports. I don't know. Why? It's like that. I guess that was how the open line. Yeah. Yeah. But I took them even giving three points obviously away rather only give a point half. I'm gonna take the eagles sign. Not exactly confident the line with the weather being bad. Yeah. The line has moved toward New York. Which doesn't depends, but Saddam sharp money comes into moves it, but the public using not very smart is the reality. Always I want to go back one second, Jerry. So last year got hurt he played with a certain reckless abandon last year. I think we could all see, and I think that has been absent this year. But I'm not sure whether it's because he's not one hundred percent or because he's consciously trying not to play so recklessly this here, which is smart. And I think they did spend a lotta time this off season drilling in his head. He's gotta take care of himself. The injury that he has your should have never happened. It was an unnecessary unnecessarily aggressive play. So I'm interested in watching him of whether he's especially because not being protected very well. He's kind of got to protect him Stewart where he knows that means to you. But you gamble at a rate and arrange the Tom and are not comfortable with I won't say the amount on the air. But fifty grand a games a lot of money. What? What's your what's your call here? I don't have any money on the game. But if I did I would probably go with the eagles, minus one and a half. I think I think they're going to win by at least the field goal. Maybe even a touchdown. Nobody believes whatsoever in the giants, by the way, we have a bit of a a conflict here in the studio. We're just trying to keep it peaceful Stewart Kovacs rabid Yankees fan Darwin's during the updates today. Huge Red Sox fan, and you know, me just bad person. I've constantly been just asking Darwin to remind me, so I can tell Stu who won the Red Sox. I actually I forgotten already Darwin who who on the Red Sox Yankees. I believe it was the Red Sox. I could be wrong right Boston. The Boston got. Yeah. Hours north of New York, smaller city, Italian Italian food. Yeah. Very good Italian food north end. Great food. Yeah. Hey, Stu Stewart. Yes. Question on Boston won the series against the Yankees. I'm glad I'm glad I know that now very good news as we say at the start of the start of every show her nice here. Sometimes all right. Let's talk. Kevin todd. My guy from the sports brokers dot com. He's not a tear. I mean gambling's gambling, right? But he's been on a tear last week. He told us patriots ten and a half. Maybe nervous a lot of points. And he put he did put fifty grand down that's real and he wanted. So Kevin's going to swing by. We'll talk some lines. We'll get his perspective. I'll give a few pigs. We'll do that next year on the show rather than you with me. Bill Ryder after the CBS sports radio update with Darwin's who's bogged down. Sports flash. That's right Bill. The Red Sox did win.

That's a that's a very big thing for the Rams Marcus Peters has the most interceptions in the NFL since two thousand fifteen at twenty of them. He has a pick six earlier this year when you take the rest of that defense, and you throw in Peter's in what he can do that is significant especially with a keep Toledo also out in some pressure on Kirk cousins to deliver and cousins has those weapons man. He's got receivers. So the fact that Peters out there. It's pretty interesting kickoff coming up in a little bit. We'll we'll keep you updated on that game. The Rams only touchdown favored six and a half points. Last time. I looked right now to the voice of Taliban. Don't question, Mark. Right. Is Thomas, Tom are you are you Thomas on your birth certificate? Yes. Thomas, James Thomas. James, right. I'm William Joseph and is that Stewart spikes Kovacs? What's the middle name? It is Stuart Michal Kovac's junior. Got Stu Stewart. Michal kovac's. That's correct. So I know offensive I call you Thomas, if I call you Stewart, no issue, not at all a lot of people. Call me Stewart Stewart doesn't somebody here? The number two. And you hate it. Yeah. One one update anchor. Here loves the call me story. I don't understand giving people names or nicknames. They didn't ask for. It's just it's totally beyond me. I wonder the trace to do tonight. All right. So Tom Thomas de Benedito right now going to help us do little by yourself. What side.
