Small Greenhouses: The How, What, and Why
"Wanna pick up an idea that somebody sent us in an e mail. Few months ago where they asked us to comment about some small ikya greenhouses now for people who don't know key is a big furniture store right. Coup doesn't kia. Well some people may not know but evelyn e. you know about these greenhouses. What what exactly are people asking about. What are they talking about here. It especially if you live in a small home or a small apartment and you don't have a lot of window space or your apartment very dry. These miniature greenhouses can be very appealing because it gives you some dedicated growing space. And it's a way to increase the humidity. Which for some house. Plants is really important. It cracks me up when i see these on pinterest planted with charming little succulents. Because that's the last plant that really needs the increased humidity of greenhouses fact. You're you're probably going to be doing them a disservice unless you leave that. Many greenhouse open all the time. But but i can't actually makes one called soccer and i'm sure that if i spoke swedish would pronounce that better which is very cute and actually functions and the reason that it functions is because the roof is hinged so you can open it up and have full complete to the inside of the little greenhouse and it's small it's like about eighteen inches wide and fourteen inches tall but you could still fit some really pretty smaller plants that need high humidity in a little greenhouse like that. But there it's a maiden hair furner erects or an apiece or something that needs increased shop but don't waste it on a bunch of succulents. That's not really what you need to do for them. And it's probably not large enough to grow any amount of food in either right now. It really isn't. And i get so frustrated when i see these things. Online that are not realistic. That set people up to fail. Because you have a bad experience with something like that and it's gonna turn you off from growing plants completely. If you wanted to start a few seeds in one of these little greenhouses you could certainly do that. But it's not enough. You're not going to be able to grow more than maybe like a basil plant or a rosemary. Plant something in there. It's just they're just not big enough on but the thing to watch out for especially is read the descriptions if you're looking online a lot of these things that are just charming are not functional. There are some beautiful like brass and glass greenhouses up there little mini ones. That would fit on a tabletop and they sit on a tray and the trae is a half an inch deep and to access the planting. You have to lift off the whole glass top. So you've only got a half an inch of soil in there to plant with. That's not gonna work for you the ikya one. Actually you can plant in. And even though it's made out of you know glass it's plastic. It does function. so you could. You could use this. For for instance a almost a terrarium. You could create a little jungle environment in there. Yeah you could and if you if in the ones that let let you actually plant directly in them if you are going to buy one of those beautiful ones that doesn't actually have a solid bottom to it. That's the kind of thing that you're going to have to use like a close. You might just put a couple of pots in there and then put the glass top down on top of the whole thing. But you can't actually plant in soil in that kind of a little mini greenhouse. It's it's almost a display item rather than a functional growing strider. And you need to. It will increase the humidity for those plants. But they need to be individually potted. And i think it's important for people to manage their expectations now I was looking around when when we decided to talk about this. I was looking around. Because i noticed that some people mentioned that you can use these inside or outside and and i'm sure you can put it outside. But why would you want to limit yourself to such tiny thing. If you're doing it outside you know if you want some outside protection so that you can grow more plants on the shoulder seasons early in the spring and and even into the winter there are larger structures. That are much better for this. And i was looking at the gardner supply company which is a company that i'm very fond of up in vermont. An employee owned company. They're wonderful and they have a several structures that fit over standard size raised beds that create this kind of greenhouse effect over a raised bed. The sides come up so that you can get in there and tend your plants you know. And you've got that protection that carries you into the winter or early in the spring and very reasonably priced. Yes and those are a much better. Bet if you're talking about outdoor growing for many reasons because they're they're lightweight they're plastic. You can fold them up in store them easily when the growing season is completely over and they give you much more space than a tiny little kia. Terrarium is going to give you. But if you are interested in doing this indoors and you want a little more space than the ikea soccer will give you my swedish accent soccer so you could just take and this is what i used to do. I would just. I would buy big old aquariums flea markets and garage sales and this was something it may not be quite as cute and charming as something that was intended to be greenhouses concerned. But it solid. It's all glass. So you've got a really strong thing there that you can plant directly in and it's going to give you more growing space so if you're somebody who's just been dying to grow a maiden hair fern or something that requires higher humidity than you can give it in your apartment. Start looking for those old fish tanks because those will really serve your purpose probably better than anything you can buy new

But yeah, let's get started I guess the the biggest news is that we got to see a forty five minute long presentation on Picton Three Deluxe and a think twenty, five long minute presentation pyro Warriors Age calamity, and they were both treehouse presentations. So it was basically gameplay play with people talking about said game play Let's talk about Pittman three because that demo is available now and also Tom and pair have been plane. So did we learn anything in his treehouse presentation that you didn't already know? From play. we learned about the ultra spicy limit, the ultra spicy difficulty mode, and how it's going to limit Sixty like you can only have sixty pittman in the field at a time, which is kind of interesting like I don't know if that's the type of difficulty increase I would want because I lake having lots of Pitman following me, but it's it's an interesting thing to to hear about but yeah. Tra- spicy, not only great difficulty mode, but a wonderful flavor as well. I completely disagree with that but. Their own. But we did get to see person photo mode showing off, and we also got to see that whenever you encounter a new creature. It gets entering the PICCOLA Pedia, which is new at least for pick three, and there are new levels with Louis, which we saw the split screen. This was announced with the announcement victory deluxe, and now we just got to see it in action like I said the demos out now but I didn't mention that save from demo transfer over to the full game, and also completing also gives immediate access to the ultra spicy difficulty mode in the full game which Tom just mentioned. I'd stuff. And I'm actually going to be on the review for this one. So I've been playing I've been playing in a little bit more than what the Demo has well. And Man I still just love. This game holds up. So well, the the graphics aren't really any better here beyond like there's not lag when the juice goes into the bottles anymore like there was on we you but it was already such a good-looking game that you know it holds up in a lot of different ways are talk one of little little quality of life things that are just so so nice that aren't going to be on like the box or the store page, but are just like if you played the original, you're gonNA feel how much easier it is to control this one in little ways. Juice lag removal obviously is the top selling point. I've Hewlett back of the box to i. saw got very excited. Okay. I played it last night with my daughter. I played the demo not the full version yet but. We immediately jumped into op to see how that would work and I thought it was going to it in the demo of the final game. I. Thought it was going to lock you out until you had other characters on walked right in the picnic games picnic three everybody's scattered, and then you find each other and then you can switch back and forth. But the game actually lets you do you know laid at the same character twice from the from the very so you get this vertical split-screen arden the noise I. Think my wife is printing something on this year printer. Way Yeah, you get a vertical split screen and it is is completely de couple. So it's not a it's not keeping you together. One person can go into a cave and the other person can be outside. You can toss pigment to the one player and the other new obviously split the maximum amount of a between the two, but it worked really while it ran well, and it was just kind of fun to be doing these tax separately. Now I don't know how that impacts. The game because. Can Get way more done. I was battling a Boston. My daughter was like bringing strawberries back so We'll see how that impacts the game, but a works like a cinch and then. Play with a pro control in has two different Gyro moats. So has warned that is more like a pointer away you move around your target on the screen and the other one is more directional with like slight till to adjust. But I felt like the regular controls with the lock on feature worked just fine so. That's how a play on the we you as it was into great man. That's my biggest love that game. That's my biggest question is what the deal with the touchscreen integration was the handled that pretty well with Super Mario Galaxy with the pointer. So what are the most true bugs just feed on plant sap they access a plant sap from a variety of sources including the stems roots leaves fruit and seeds of plants a lot of true bugs or pest because they feed on human crops stink bugs for example. I know they're a pest to various fruits such as tomatoes and peaches are they true who bugs indeed as our bedbugs and water strider. Wait a minute bugs only plants. They feed on blood don't they. I think the offensive linemen and the receivers have some really interesting players receivers, particularly there's like the whole spectrum of type of players. I mean, you've got decay Metcalf. You've got I came and then he got Markey's Brown, and like smaller shifty guys you've got AJ Brown who looks like a running back playing receiver. There's just all kinds of guys in. So there there's a lot of I think if you're if you're gonna say there's buzzer excitement about anything. It's it's watching receivers as watching the offensive lineman, obviously defensive lineman is going to be huge this week. Oh. Ed oliver. I think that was actually kind of an interesting thing this morning, he weighed in I think it to eighty seven. So that was a good way for him. That's plenty. Yeah. That's like more than what Aaron Donald waiting now. Obviously that's a comparison. That happens a lot. I don't think he's earned Donald. I'm really interested to see how akilah Harry runs think. He's just kind of one of those guys that's really polarizing right now because we're from Arizona state. He he's a guy that is like really big physical super productive. But he's also sort like, there's he's kind of in the alshon Jeffery shor mold where you're like Kenny separate or is he gonna have to only sorta use his body in wind contested catches and things like that. I think he's going to be really interesting. The Stanford guy JJ JR Sega white said Whitehead is really interesting player. He's like form basketball player box out king.
