"And Divine is, as always, Small Saturday is on a Friday, we are beyond our lunchtime which turns Friday into Small Saturday, August 25th, and this episode is 4 .24 from This Mic Rich! And from This Mic Matt. Wow, yeah, that was good. Yeah, I liked that. Well I decided to concentrate this time and not be spacing out. Well that was a good idea because a lot of times, you know, I don't even know you here, sometimes you're sleeping. Well, that's true, but then there's other times that I might just throw you off and I just didn't feel like doing that today. Not today? No, you know, you're usually very professional when you start out and you have all the essentials and you know, things ready to go and then I start throwing monkey wrenches into the engine and it could start setting you off, so I decided I might just try to behave today. Yeah, you know what, by the way, listen up, this is something you need to know, okay? You can't believe everything you hear. Yeah, that's true, just like you can't believe what I just said. But let me just say it again, you can believe everything you hear. You can't believe it? No, no, but you can repeat it. Yeah, that's true. Like what you just did. Yeah, exactly what I did. You're playing mind games with me. No, I don't, I don't have to, you have, yesterday. You know, you keep playing these games. Well, two days ago you said you have army of brain cells gone. Yeah, what I think you're doing is trying to push me into having to lay down on a couch and get some counseling. Well, I don't think that would help. I'm starting to feel like with all these little innuendos and little things that you're saying is that you're trying to tell everybody that I'm a head case. Well, everybody knows by now that you are, so I don't have to do much of work. I mean, that's pretty clear. All right. By now, everybody knows that. All right, I'm fine with it. You've been working on it a very long time, you know, to be very clear that you are head case. Yeah, that's it. That doesn't take you too much work. I asked somebody one time, I said, you know, how much did you pay to get that stoop? He looked at me like, and he played along with it, he goes, about $30 ,000. 30? $3 ,000. Why? What did you pay for? I don't know, nothing. He just picked a number out of his you know what. So now every time I see him sometimes just joking around like we do, I ask him, yeah, how much you pay? He goes, about $3 ,000. Well, nice. Well, I mean, if somebody asked you that - It's kind of cheap for today. Yeah. I wonder what it'd be inflation wise. It's good investment. 30 ,000. Anyway. I mean, I kind of like it when I can look stupid and be stupid because - Yeah, no responsibility. Not just that, it's just nobody wants anything from you then. Oh, yeah. You're taking me along. Hey, he's stupid. Yeah, it works for me. It works for everything. That's good. I've been doing this for years. Yeah, you're an expert. My grandfather always told me, hey, listen, if your wife, if you're married and your wife asks you to vacuum the carpet, you need to play stupid. Yeah, really? How do you do that? He never explained that, but he says, if you don't, you're going to be vacuuming the rest of your life. He was so right. Yeah, I mean, you guys had electricity behind the Iron Curtain, didn't you? Oh, well, sometime. Well, you probably could have used the excuse of just walk around with the cord in his head pretending like he doesn't know where to plug it in. I think what they had, they had a central station somewhere where they put all these people that protested against the communists in jail and they were on the bicycles. Bicycles where else? Where else? Already echoed it. Four days ago. Oh, my gosh. And so if they just got tired and tuckered out, electricity no more, everybody's off their bicycle. So when they say here in the United States, they say, hey, we need to save the energy, solar and all this, and I go like, huh, just put the bicycles in the jail, you got so many skinny people. Oh, yeah. Yeah, right. That's good. Nobody thought about that yet. Keep them occupied. I think there's like just in the state of California that one state has 33 prisons. It's better than Windmill. I think it's anywhere between at any given time 120 ,000 to 160 ,000 inmates. I mean, how many bikes you get every one of them a bicycle? I would just like, listen, it's better than Windmill. Yeah. It works all the time. Yeah, it works all the time. Three shifts, right? And then just like, hey, Mary just turned on the oven, let's go, boys. She's baking cookies for police department. Don't let her disappointed. And it's kind of a way for them to give back to society, restitution. Yeah. Hey, you only got about 50 million more cycles to do. Imagine. Have a meter up there. How many watts did they create that give each prisoner a certain amount of money for every watt they create? It would be a problem if Mary was the lady put you in jail and you paddle a little faster to burn the cookies. I remember you. Or get aggression out instead of actually, you know, creating another crime and doing something horrible to Mary. You take it out on the bicycle and create more energy. Yeah. What is the company that, you know, they have this TV in front of that and it's like a stationary bag and you, they sell them, it's like $3 ,000 and membership and all this. That's a better thing. Look at you. You were far away from bicycle. I don't think they made bicycle for this weight limits. I think it would have been a better $3 ,000 to be spent on that bicycle than paid $3 ,000 to get stupid. Yeah, exactly. I have a friend and he proved to be stupid for $3 ,000 because he bought one. Yeah. He bought one for his wife. What was he trying to tell his wife? No. You need to, you need this thing. No, she wanted it. Oh yeah. She asked him. I thought he might've been saying, Hey, you need this cause I think you're getting a little fat. It's not a way to kind of send a message, but she wanted it, she wanted it for Christmas. It's this bicycle. I forget the name of it. Somebody would have figured it out later. And they sell it in the water side shop. They used to have this store there and, uh, uh, she, she Peloton is called Peloton. Oh yeah. You don't know. How would you know? So they had this store and you know, you pay membership and again, I give a paddle with people and the screen and you know, it's like a, almost like I think it was like a video game. You playing with other people. Yeah. And there's a person, you know, that looks like a real person, but it's recorded. And um, so she asked him to buy the bike right for Christmas. He was like, now I was doing the Fauci virus. Everything was shut down. Well, I'm home. I need to be moving on those. And he was like, now she told me big before the Christmas when I was supposed to get that right. So we ordered that and um, we were sitting here and he said, well, it's going to come within a month or whatever. So after Christmas and I said, I gave her two weeks and then like six months later, I forgot. He came here and he looked at me and says, it's, it's in the, uh, it's in the storage. I said, what is it? Well, that $3 ,000 bike. I said, why are you moving? No, it was not even two weeks. It was less than two weeks. She shoved it underneath of the bed, so I put it in the storage. You should have told them to put it in a garage sale. So then something happened. There was a recall or something like, uh, some, whatever it was, something wrong in the bike. So he read that somewhere in the newspaper that Peloton is offering a exchange or return the money. He immediately returned the money. That thing was out of the storage and back into the store and he got his money back. So he was stupid for $3 ,000 just for a little bit. Yeah. Not very long. And then he came back to his senses and took it back and got his $3 ,000 back. There you go. Let's go to officials. Why don't you go to officials? But we created now the perfect example, how to occupy people in jail. Maybe they can get a little money out of it. I mean, or at least pay restitution for all their bills. The court case, you know how much it costs to run court victims, you know, get repay victims for, I don't know anything about that, but I'm just saying instead of solo systems and all this, we can have, you know, them doing something, but you're, you're smart. It's killing two birds. Yeah, you are. It's killing two birds of one stone. You're genius. Thank you. And they're, they're, you're a genius and they're getting exercise. They're providing energy, a cheap source of energy that's not, you know, ruining the ozone layer. Unless they're farting. And then they can take whatever monies they're making from the kilowatts and whatever they pay an inmate when, you know, like in their industries and work and they could pay the people back. If somebody steals my idea, I'll sue them. We just said it here. Yeah. Right. Okay. It's recorded. Right. There's a timestamp. And I think it'd be good. It's just telling that you got the idea from, from, from your grandfather and living behind the iron curse. Yes, exactly. So, so it's 11 PM on 25th of what is it? Small Saturday. Friday. Yeah. Of August. Now that's the timestamp right here. If somebody dared to steal my idea, we'd have consultation. Right. What are we going to do to them? Just let it go. Do you get some shank? Yeah, don't shank them. Somebody will shank them. Right. Yeah. That's it. We don't know yet who. Yeah. You never know. Or they might, you know, you never know. Something, something that happened. Yeah. God will send somebody with sandpaper as a toilet paper or whatever. 50 grade. We are 50 grade. Instead of 220. Essentials of officials. Julian Bruce Traquita, Apache Music. Oh, yeah. Yeah, with a big red cut. What's the weather? Well, you know, the weather is, again, it's going to be 93, they say, today. And it's going to be a low of about 76, I believe I read. And it's clear as a bell all day today. Is it? Yeah. I like that. Very little clouds. Well, there's something coming, right? Yeah. I see there's X's on the maps. I don't know what that's supposed to mean. Well, we don't want to, yeah, I guess there's some tropical storms out in the Atlantic. Yeah? Yeah. That's X's. But once we, yeah, X's and O's. Oh, you know what? We're going to talk about X's and O's today. What have you been doing 452 on Thursday? That was yesterday afternoon. Have you been around airports sometime? Why? Because yesterday wasn't Tuesday. What's wrong with you? Thursday. Oh. That was yesterday. You said Tuesday, I think. No, I said Thursday. I know what I'm saying. I know what we'll do is we'll just listen to this. We're going to end up listening to this. All right. So what have you been doing? I've been... Nothing. Nothing. Okay. So just so you know, you missed the tornado. Oh, really? Was that up in Cape Coral? No, at the airport road. Oh, wow. One roof and nine cars. That's it. Oh, you know what? That's crazy. And you didn't report it as a weatherman. You didn't even say it. I did tell... Listen to me. Yes? When I gave the weather report for Thursday, I told you that it was going to storm... Let me see if I could be a sage. Oh, yeah. You said that. I said that it was going to have rain very bad at between five and six. Yes. You said that. I apologize. Yeah. You need to. Sincerely, categorically. Right. Sincerely, categorically, I apologize. Thank you. And I could... You know, I could probably... But it says five. This was 452. Okay. So I was... I take my apologies back. All right. You were wrong. You're an Indian giver. I heard it the other day. Yeah. All right. So University Hodge is closing in four miles. Did you know that? I did not know that. Yeah. So they're going to cease to exist. Operations are over. I don't know what happened, but that's the news. You can Google it and you can find out more about Hodge University. You wonder with everything consolidating and with the Fauci virus and all these types of things, how many of these institutions are going to be closed anyway just with technology? Everything is done by the computer. Well... I mean, why do you need the commercial space? You don't have students coming to the classroom, which I think is not the greatest thing. You know, you don't have that human interaction. It's important. So I mean, the social... I mean, we're social human beings. You know, like what I would do... Like monkeys? Yeah. If you don't show up here, what would I do? You tell me. I don't know. Well, I can tell you. Right. I'll be alone. Well, you'd be alone, but you wouldn't be... You wouldn't be doing nothing. Well, what I just found out is we cannot longer provide the quality educational program that we have provided over the past 33 years. And what was that? That's what the statement says in the university. That's what I'm saying. According to the university faculty, advisors are working to establish partnership and trying to reopen. But I don't... I mean, maybe the problem is also additional to that. You know... That's just financial challenges. But declining also number of the teachers. I mean, seriously, it's expensive for people to live here. Yeah. Yeah, it is. And not on a teacher's salary, but also just the total cost for education. Would it cost somebody to go into debt to... Yeah. You know, so in order to keep the institution going and paying your professors and all that, you need people to be signing up for classes and paying tuition. Yeah. Maybe it's just the whole kit and caboodle that's the problem. Maybe we have to start thinking as a society, you know, what's a better, more efficient, cheaper way to educate people? Does that make sense to you? I mean, listen, I've been asking a long time, what I mean, the education is one thing, but you know, what are you learning in the school? It's a lot of times, you know, some of the things are very old school books and you're learning something like which you're never going to use. So, I mean, that whole thing needs to be restructured. Yeah, I would think it needs to be more restructured. Remember when we were talking yesterday about the trades, right? Let me just give you a little bit of philosophy from my perspective. I like your philosophies. So what you have is that we kind of have this like cookie cutter thing. It actually comes from a Prussian educational system, believe it or not, out of Germany. And it kind of made its way here into the United States and we kind of made it like a factory type of industrial factory deal where everybody goes through the same thing and they get their little stamp of approval in this paper. You know, everybody, let me ask you this. You think everybody's called to be a doctor? No. Do you think everybody's called to be a pharmacist? No. Everybody called to be a lawyer? I think everybody would like to be. Well, especially you. Does everybody have the same intellect? Is everybody's IQ the same? Well, in this room I can tell no.

Stuff You Should Know
Fresh update on "stoops" discussed on Stuff You Should Know
"And that's the idea that people tend to overestimate How much like one's kind of even sometimes small single thing will affect their future They overestimate it and the example he used is like a kid a high school kid saying well if I don't get an A in This class it'll ruin my chances to get into a good college and that's probably Overestimating things because getting into a college is more about this one class maybe or this one test But people underestimate apparently Like anger goes the opposite. They will underestimate how hard it is to shake angry thoughts So you might think that you can get over something by committing the act of revenge But it's you're really Underestimating it and those those feelings are gonna stick with you even past that revenge act. Yeah with anger in in particular It's its own thing. It doesn't follow the rules of other emotions, right? Yeah, and that is of course part and parcel with with revenge you are angry maybe even hateful and You have to carry out some sort of act of vengeance, right? Yeah, and I think there's also something to the idea that Even though you think committing that act of revenge will Fulfill you What it does in the end is it you've heard about you like, you know, you brought me down to your level Like if you go and slash that guy's tire for cutting you off, you know I got you but those negative thoughts about yourself are gonna creep in because you have now stooped and Done something even worse than cutting someone off you You know cost someone money and ruin their property and potentially created a danger for them You know, well, even if you were cut off by the person I've seen people do this, too And you rev your engine and catch up to them and cut them off. So it's literally tit for tat, right? There's no nothing was was done beyond it's completely even you're still gonna feel bad about having done that And it's insane how it happens Like you you are just driven by this rage is just feeling like this is what you're supposed to be doing This is what the universe is Demanding you do to set things right again and then the moment you do it you feel terrible about yourself in one way or another and it is just such a Just such a BS evolutionary relic that like you're being manipulated by genetics at that point Yeah at that moment you're being manipulated you are a puppet And so the best thing you can do to control your own destiny again is to say man that guy cut me off He's a putz or even better that guy cut me off Maybe he's about as leg is bleeding and he's he's got to get to the hospital You know, there are a lot of things you can do but when you do that you're overcoming Your genetic destiny and taking it in an even better direction Yeah, I mean it's tough stuff man to follow that path For me for a lot of people I have tried and tried the more of the older I've gotten into try Try right, it's hard. Yeah, but try to think like What happened to that person? Why are they like that like when you see someone who's you can tell us a bad person not someone who cut you off in? Traffic but like if you someone it learning traffic No, but when you know someone is doing the wrong thing and someone is just a bad human doing bad things I try to find some empathy of like what happened to them that made them that way and what happened to them today? To make them that angry. Yeah, and I I try to seek those moments out. It's stuff though. I'm trying to but to be real There's a crew of appliance delivery dudes Who scratch my wood floor? Two years ago and the company is using has refused to pay refused to pay over a year ago Yeah, and I still am like should I get those guys back? And if so, how like I Well, you bring it to their house and scratch your floor man. Yeah tit for tat, right? Yeah But then also dovetails with that that idea that tip for tat or even better an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind Yeah part of that escalation in a cycle of retaliation Which is such a great quote and everybody attributes it to Gandhi, but apparently it was not word-for-word But the sentiment was by a Canadian named George Perry Graham. He was a journalist and politician Huge fan of The Raptors no Gordon Lightfoot. Oh Of course, even though it comes back to GL. I think he was probably dead long before Gordon Lightfoot was alive I just wanted to give a little Shout out for Canada's sake Well, why don't we wrap it all up with this idea of mutually assured destruction because it dovetails nicely, right? It does Chuck And here's why to think it away. So the the just as a refresher we've talked about it before the doctrine of mutually assured Destruction was that if you are a nuclear superpower say the Soviet Union during the Cold War Or the United States during the Cold War if you launched an initial first strike The other side even though they were doomed because your nuclear warheads were in the air then going to come and kill Everybody there in the meantime. They were going to launch a retaliatory strike. It would do nothing to save Anybody's life on their side. It wouldn't do anything to stop those missiles from coming It was strictly revenge and the human awareness of The the concept of revenge and that that was a very real thing that the other side really would do That is what kept people from carrying out an initial strike during the Cold War According to mutually assured destruction doctrine. That's right. Oh, did I take up the whole thing? I'm sorry. You shouldn't be okay I mean, I think it's it's a great way to end it. It's for all this talk of revenge, it's like Is that the thing that has kept humanity Mike on the earth, yeah, I mean that's that's what some people say and I mean, yeah the Doctrine of mutually assured destruction keeps getting question Like was that really what what was keeping things in check or was there really like behind the scenes stuff? We didn't know about and it seems like more and more It really was keeping things in check and it seems to be because there was a total awareness that the other side would kill you Just because you killed them first Yeah So that's revenge everybody I think if there was one point to this episode It's get past it as best you can and if you can't don't be too hard on yourself. Just try again next time Yeah, try that that narrow path is narrow and do your best. It's hard. We all struggle with it But but see if the next time you want to get revenge on somebody in traffic or wherever see if you can take that narrow path and There's a really good chance you're gonna feel better about yourself and the world's gonna be a better place because of it Just squeeze your steering wheel until you bleed from your palms and your butt cheeks Since Chuck said butt cheeks. Everybody knows it's time for listener mail This is a great follow-up Quite a while ago not that long ago, but like last year sometime we or maybe that been this year I don't know. We read an email about a guy who's had the cussing dentist Oh, that was just a few months ago. Yeah. Okay. I have no concept of time anymore understood The guy who's Dennis cussed and we liked it cuz my doctor cusses and I just think it's funny You know, it's a funny story about the dentist dropping an f-bomb. We got to pull these f and teeth or whatever And then we get this email. Hey guys, my name is ginger and I'm a dental assistant in Blueville, Maine The patient came into our office this week and said my boss is famous She then proceeded to tell us she listened to your show and at the end you read letters from viewers and Went on to say that the patient wrote in about the dentist that swears I went back found the episode August Oh, yeah, here it is right here August 23 August 3rd. Really Wow. Oh boy. That was this month Well, we read it to be fair Five weeks before that. Okay, the episode was the last meal ritual and it has to be my boss. Dr Travis Castleberry who by the way said it was okay to read this Okay, by any chance did the patient say the dentist was because my ball thinks it could totally be another dentist But I don't believe it if you could could you send me an email back so I could know if I was right he So I did look this up The original gentleman did not give the name of the dentist, but he was a dentist in Maine Wow, and what are the chances that there are two cursing dentists in Maine? They're essentially zero probably zero so ginger goes on to say he does like to cuss Obviously not in front of kids, but he's and he's not everyone's cup of tea But he surely is a lot of fun to work with. He's a genuine dentist They know that means if it takes no BS from root patients I've worked with him for two years and I still love to come to work every day Thank you for taking the time to read my email. Thanks to our patients You have a new listener and I look forward to hearing from you that is from ginger the dental assistant of dr Castleberry, so I almost want to save up a cleaning and go see ginger and dr. Castleberry sometime Why not just book a plane ride up to Maine and do your clean and then come on have a swim in their cold cold ocean That email by the way was ginger v. Itis.

"All of you guys in the freedom caucus, man, you're just taking the arrows. Every single day. And now, to be among these folks. Well, it is Todd and to see the enthusiasm. They're not just sitting there sitting on the hands when Scott and I spoke, they reacted and is everyday American issues, freedom. And to see them here to see them voice their opinion, you see the halls. You see the people from all walks of life. And it's just encourages us to do more of the same and it puts a weight on our shoulders to make sure we enlist others to fight the fight. And it's a great feeling, but it's a responsibility that we have. You know, we talked about impeachment. And I loved your answer because, you know, I think there are many in the Republican Party that think that this is some sort of a noble little fistfight. This is a street fight we're in right now. A steel cage death match is what we're in Todd storms. And look, the left uses every single tool and we're still trying to stick to the queensberry rules. Look, the republic is in trouble. And I'm not saying we stoop to their level, but we have tools in our tool chest here. And we need to use every single one and quit acting like they're gonna treat us kindly or that we'll get them next time. There isn't any next time now is the time. It's the only time we have. Do you agree with that congressman? Absolutely. You know, to see what we see. A lot of the damage they're doing, it's gonna be tough to roll back. The runway is short, and we don't have the time to see if they like us. We don't care if they like it. So if they agree with what we're putting forward, it will shock us, but we ready for the fight and we're ready to take it to the American people. The people you see out here today will be the biggest cheerleaders for getting this country on the financial track of financial security and it's a great feeling. And that's something

How AJ and His Best Friend Switched Girlfriends
"I had fallen in love with a girl in high school named Jennifer colletta. And I ended up marrying her, but before that ever happened, Ronnie was dating her. But it was very innocent dating because Jennifer was a virgin until she married me, so it was very innocent it was making out of his hand holding. It was that kind of shit. Calling through the movies, so Ronnie started dating her first. And I was dating a girl named Linda Buren. And on Jennifer's sweet 16th birthday party. She had some people over, Ronnie was invited, obviously. He was a boyfriend, and he told me to go. And I knew of her, but when I saw her, I remember she wore a lavender jumpsuit and I fell in love. I just fell in love as you know my heart often does. Something happens inside me. It happened with Andrea. It happened with Virginia. It happens to people who I know for a fact I'm gonna be with. And I knew I had to do something because Ronnie was cheating on Jennifer constantly. And maybe this makes me a rat, I don't know. But I was the last person to leave that party and we sat on a stoop in the backyard. It was the summer time. No, actually it was February. But it was not that cold. And we were talking about her relationship with Ronnie and I said, but you know what Jen, you're such a pretty girl. I don't think you need to be with a guy who runs around like that. She says, I know, but I don't think he's doing anything too bad. I said, well, why are you putting up with that? Don't put up with that. She says, I know, you're probably right. And basically, you know, I broke them up, I guess, because. When I left the party, I went back to my house, where I live with my mom, and I called her number, and I still remember it. 6 6 one 8 four three two. And I called her and we talked for another hour or two in the kitchen with the long phone wire that stretched around the table and I could sit on the floor by the backbone so nobody could hear me. And I basically told her that I wanted to be with her and wanted to be a boyfriend and she knew she felt it too and the next day or two she broke up with Ronnie and my buddy Ronnie then goes and grabs Linda Buren and makes her his girlfriend. So we traded girlfriends.

It was one of the cooler events of the summer. Hey thank you for the call. Bryce is up next in texas. A hey brice. Hey how's it going. I i'm caller appreciating taking mccall. Thank you yes My question is in your opinion. A fan on running up the score late in the game due to what happened last year was one eight games. i believe. Seven eight games by double digits and it doesn't seem to be enough when you get late in the season and they start looking at the playoffs. Pitcher what's your opinion about that and like this week is bringing in canada to hand the ball off until its third long and throws interception price. I am not in favor of running the score up and and quite frankly i don't think it matters Am did not get in the playoffs. Last because of the alabama game it had more to do with that than with whether they beat teams By one point which. I think they'd be florida by or or by fifty points Those people that supposedly judge our football people that understand the difference in beating a bad team. Sixty six nothing and just scoring enough to win a game. The eight eight. Seven eight games winning by double digits last year in total sec schedule it. Just seems like notre dame's win over clemson was with their backup quarterback well but they play with him. I hear you but it really came down to. It was a close call. But but notre dame got got the nod based on one game and and unfortunately for for am. They didn't really get any help. If florida had had finished better maybe it would have helped him a little bit. But the florida lost to lsu. I think hurt because that was an ems best win. I will say this. Am has a chance to rectify that here in october. Hey thank you for the call appreciate it. Corky is in fort worth it. Hello corky very. Well thank you man. I wanna tell you i did. Take georgia's be clemson. Like i told you they will with no problem. Put georgia's in trouble. I'm being honest. They do not deserve to be number two. That offense is pathetic sears. If clemson was to play georgia again. I would take clemson. Georgia remind me of. I was in tallahassee. At the notre dame game reminded me of notre dame where the same team. We just can't do the job man. I'll say sucked in georgia. I'll george suck and defense up. We just can't can't hold onto elite corky i i. I don't think. I really need to remind people were only one weekend who season in georgia has had the biggest win of the season. But apparently it's just not good enough Hey thank you for the call. Mike is in kentucky. You're on the air. Go right ahead. Hey how you doing great man. This has got to be the first time in the history of college football that team as seems to number two in the country without a sin without scoring a single offensive point are i mean. What is this who what. Paul is at the cnn. Fake news poll For being in in in tuscaloosa a couple years ago for the game of the century that ended up three Three field goes to field goals. and we all raved about it. Yeah we're playing a good team. Jam georgia was playing a really good team on saturday. People wanna i. I'm i'm no good team. Yeah really good team. I thought that came wasn't gonna make the college football playoffs. I thought they had no chance paul. They made but it's snowfall to clemson that they're not going to get in. It's the fault of the league. They play in. We tell me. Virginia tech's not a good team. I have no earthly idea. Based on one game well. I watched them play. It looked pretty salty to me. Yeah well good for them. But they're not gonna we're we're talking about. I just think they're setting georgia the biggest. Mike do you want to go through the acc we can. We can talk about duke and georgia tech keep right garage right on going on about four years ago. They see see had a winning record against. Scc remember them days. Far removed has absolutely nothing to do with. Today it's twenty twenty one in case you missed it. Ain't ms nothing i know. One thing georgia's got one good football player on our whole team. They gotta nose guard. Good luck with winning the national championship. Nose guard georgia role. Dadgum todd a we will be right back. Hope.

"Was the interim head coach at sc. And you'd probably across the street out in la You know where do they go now. And and their fans. We're talking big. I mean it's it has a twenty twenty field over again about it and remember something about last year They ended up. Okay because they they they be oh missing a game that really took a miraculous finished for them to beat on this last year. And then the shoe game at the swap salvage the season and then the luckiest thing that happened. Is you know the end. The end on a two game winning streak and i don't even remember what the deal was with They self-imposed so they didn't go to a bowl game which which. They didn't wanna go anyway. So a lot of momentum really came from those two games and i. i mean. I know monday afternoon. Oh we'll be preaching the gospel you wouldn't you wouldn't know that they lost. It's it's On tuesday it's always tell the truth tuesday and it's this on wednesday and and after a while that's not gonna it's not going to resonate very well. You look at their schedule mcneese next week. So chuck it up central michigan. Chalk it up so the till and one mississippi state you know mike leads. Mississippi state had come back from twenty down those largest comeback win in fifty years on the data louisiana tech. But it is what it is. So you're at starkville then your home against auburn and much like georgia. I think auburn is going to be the really i and next opportunity for them to be challenged and paul. I'm looking at it auburn. You're going to beat kentucky florida at mess. We'll see what matt corral lane kiffin when he health is up what they're going to be. Then you go at alabama and then. He closed the season with texas an ebb. There's a legitimate possibility. You're looking at lsu team that's gonna put themselves in a position where four losses could be possible. And i don't know that that's going to get it done coach. Oh i just. Don't you know there are a lot of places that you eight and four record. That's okay. I mean you're you're you're survive but not not in baton rouge then. National championship gave them gave. Lsu people taste again and and and they just are not going to be able to to live with being at best number three in the sec west and potentially worse You mentioned that game starkville. Who knows what. Mike lee house. Okay but it's it's a dangerous game for lsu. I don't think auburn at home is but i think any game on the road for them is fairly and i want to say one more thing you you mentioned kentucky name could they could be very good They may not end up being but but they've got a lot going for them right now. Yeah we'll lavish the transfer he comes in From penn state and he looks the part they toss for four touchdowns on saturday. So we'll let looks the part you never know. Mark stoops always get hops up and get somebody so paul is. We conclude here on the sunday morning after a really really busy saturday between the three that we just talked about a minute. I'll give outlets to four kirby. Smart clemson alabama dominance lsu loss. The rose bowl of the four. Give me the one that you believe will linger the longest while i'm going to give you a one and a half I think the worst loss of the weekend was lsu because it was a game. They should have one. They had more talent And it puts them so in such a difficult position but if they lose another game or two they're not going to matter in the national conversation. So i land as well on clemson because they may not be able to talk themselves out of that loss and dabbled sweeney's the smoothest talker in college football. He can get up there on the sec network with his cronies and and talk a good game but they're they're literally may not be any room at the inn because of their schedule and if everyone else plays chalk and that. That rarely happens that. But i just. I mean i think we could. We could easily say they're dawn. I don't wanna say that labor day hovering over us crazy things can happen but but they are. They are in serious jeopardy right now. You nailed it. One hundred percent of all the storylines. You're not surprised by alabama. Lsu said ucla was gonna win this game for months and it happened but if you look at clemson i'm one hundred percent with you. This is one of those games that right now. Are we being a little bit prisoner of the moment. Sure but big picture. What did you look at a team like. Cincinnati who's got the schedule at indiana which that doesn't look good anymore because they just got stumped by iowa at notre dame ucf three consecutive weeks. What clemson did opened the door and everybody who said. I'm sick of seeing the same four teams in the playoffs. That's all that did in week. One it wide in the field just a little bit more for the teams that we wanna see. Sneak their way in there. And don't don't be miss led by the rankings because client clemson will not be will not drop very much and they shouldn't but that's not really the issue right now. I mean they may come out whatever. Whatever poll you subscribe to you probably know worse than fifth or sixth this week and they'll move up because schools will lose however they there. I don't see them moving up very much and by the time we get to the end of it. They may get a data point on the conference championship. But it's not going to be. It's not going to be a full data point. If the committee is doing his job there were a lot of schools on saturday. That planted their flag. Georgia was one of them. They had the marquee one of the weekend. But we still have two games left that i you know next week. 'cause we sit here and we get ready to do week. Two of this we start setting the table for week two throughout the week and the various platforms. Paul and i work at espn conversations. Start to broaden a little bit of who we learned the most about who was the most disappointed but as we come out of here on the. Espn college football podcast in week one. It's that clemson has now invited. More people into this exclusive club and paul. Frankly i can't wait to see how this unfolds because these two games left. I'm not gonna be surprised. Mike look. I might have some. Ucla money. so. I feel good about but i won't be. I won't be surprised if we see florida. State due to notre dame what ucla did lsu. I won't be surprised in the least bit. Yeah and if that happens that's going to be a for a for Jim phillips in the crowd. I mean they have to. They need it. I mean i i like jim. He's he's a new commissioner He told me the other day he was going to see. I think six games in five days so far it's been a really bad trip for him around the acc. And and tomorrow. I mean just think about this and you know some of. You will be listening to this monday morning or monday afternoon. And you'll know the outcome of the game or even later but you know in the event that the that the acc loses both both both remaining games. I mean what what we're saying right now on sunday morning is obsolete i mean just just your high on i mean just just put take a baseball bat to the acc pin yacht. It three or four more times because it's that much worse. I mean they they. They have to get a win here.

"I was having a discussion recently about how much i've enjoyed mine. Espresso coffee capsules during these various lockdowns and that comment boorda reaction from a mehta mine. Who said i'd become a coffee. Snob no longer was instant coffee. Good enough for trent. Trent now needs his espressos. He's become a coffee snob and at the same time. Another made the comment that i was a total neanderthal. When it comes to coffee how could. I possibly consider myself to be a real coffee drinker. When i drink espresso a real coffee connoisseur would never stoop so low as to drink and espresso but that to me. Pretty much sums up this whole concept of snobbery of being a snob of considering your taste a little bit superior to it's totally relative. I don't consider myself to be a coffee connoisseur for what it's worth. I just like coffee. That tastes to me a little bit better than what. I was drinking out of instant coffee but i. It wasn't so important to me that was willing to put in the extra to create a superior coffee to the spray. So i i worked just fine for me in some people's eyes that will make me a coffee snowed in other people's is it makes me in the end of a when it comes to something like coffee and over the years i've had similar conversations about whiskeys and wines and cheeses all sorts of things and i think the reality is for most of us. We think about how that reacts how that relates to other people we think about how other people view us are. They going to consume snow before. Drink this particular wine or drink it this way or taste this way. Well the reality is some will. Someone doesn't really matter. Be comfortable with what you know what you like. Just be self aware. Be aware that others will think you're snob. Some will think you're not doesn't really matter because like most things in life is relative

Fan garden died in nineteen ninety one So how are either of those years within a year of the show It depends on if you can do math. Or if you're in a coma or you're an alternate dimension where one year equals four found portals to pill i double check that everything goes like no people died in nineteen seventy eight nineteen eighty one. I don't understand but anyway. I digress a stone of states in that quote. according to the ebay listing. The painting was next discovered in two thousand by an art picker abandoned behind an old brewery. That's is the piece was then given to an older couple. A man the gum who stoops thank god. I needed to know that you can get so far down and you can also get so far off. Course that god in your mind will leave. You will walk away. He will forsake you. But we need to know that. God has no problem at all coming down to where we are. Despite how far of course we are despite how far we have fallen. God have no problem coming down to where we are and the beauty of it. All is that he doesn't come like man combs he doesn't come to condemn us when we miss it. He doesn't come to to point a finger at us when we make mistakes but our god comes to this stuff thump al comes to restore us and he comes to free us to put us back on a new path today. My brothers and sisters people have got. I wanna talk to you about the god who stoops some of the things that if we could live a good enough life will be the perfect christian the perfect thing that god will bless us or even if we like clean our lives get ourselves together get rid of all our bad habits and thins then god will show us some favor. The problem is providence. Slow is that we can't live that way because the reality is that we all make mistakes. The reality is that we all have at times giving in into temptation and the reality is that we all have at some time or another left. Our emotions take over. And so that's win when we flip and when we fall when we miss it that's when the condemning voices come and those voices say to us you know you blew it issue fall. You know god not you know. Forgive you you know. God is not pleased with you. God is not gonna hear you. Pray praying all of the condemning voices. Try to come in and attack but we know that god is not that way. We know that that's not the way our gardez. Because when you can't come up to level the wonderful thing about our god is is that he'll come down two hours see our god. Thank jesus our god if not so high profit unique. Oh he's not so high that he won't come low now now. I'm not not trying to say that. He is not all powerful because profited should miekel. Just hit in this in the word. I'm not trying to say that. Our god is not wholly and i'm not trying to say that he is not the creator of the universe and all power interesting. I'm not saying that. But what i'm trying to say on today beginning training wayne when i'm trying to say is that if we only see him that way then we'll be intimidated. We become over wound and we will.

"Are four area college coaches. The four big ones Scott Satterfield, Mark Stoops, Chris Mack, John Calipari, which one leaves their current job first auras poached, which one stays the longest at his current job. Man. I would say that and I hate to do this, But I would say Scott Satterfield probably leaves first just because he's clearly made it. Obvious that he would he would listen to other offers. I mean, I don't think this I don't think the South Carolina situation plays out the way it did unless he really wanted that job. So if everyone has answered that question the same way, But Nick, it's not a good sign for SAT No, it's not. I mean, by the way, I don't know if you guys saw the big news this morning. His offensive line coach Duane Ledford, is reportedly leaving for the Atlanta Falcons, which damage now three coaches that have moved on so and look, that's a that's a promotion for him to go to Atlanta and be the Lord you got. You got three offense. Three coaches that are moving on. Sophie doesn't leave after seven games. Yeah, I would. I would go with Satterfield because it's not crazy to think next year, maybe the year after that he could get to another eight and four season or something like that. And that would be intriguing for other programs. And again. He's put the sign out there that he will. He would listen to him. So I would answer he'd be the guy maybe first to leave the guy who sticks around the longest. I mean, I would say, I would say Mark Stoops because Mark Stoops has the best job in the world, right? He makes a ton of money, and all he has to do is finish three and five in the SEC and fans are happy. I mean, it's not even I know that sounds like a backhanded compliment. But he's looked at is this guy who's achieved something monumental and, yes, Kentucky so much better situation now that when he got hired, But in the grand scheme of things, there's still one of the lower tiered SEC. East teams are not the worst. Not there, not Bandy. But they're not that much better. So I don't think again. Look at Mark Stoops has done. He's gotten pay raises and extensions. Yet he's never been offered another job, and it's because he makes so much money, So I think he'll be there for the long haul. And you know, Kentucky fans are happy. And Mitch Barnhart happy then I don't think you'll be moving on about Chris Mack. Oh, man, Chris Mack. I think it really all depends on what happens with these inside double a sanctions. I mean, he his contract was put together to where if there's added postseason bands, his contract, then gets extended for however many years that is, if it's one or if it's too um, but no, I don't think he'll look to leave. I just think Um, he'll get if Louisville ends up hitting a stretch where they missed the tournament a couple years because of a postseason ban, you know, bands will be angry, and it will be his fault at all, like they were struggling in recruiting now times and people look at Chris Mack and say what's wrong with Chris Mack? Well, nothing's wrong with Chris Mac. There's something wrong with the program. You're facing penalties that he had nothing to do it so I think he'll be here for the long haul. I do believe him when he says he has no interest in the MBA. Let's be real. There aren't better, Many better jobs than noble that you leave for S O. I would say I don't see him leaving anytime soon. Remembering Our Belonging
"And welcome. Some really glad to be with you. Were exploring tonight part two. It's a continued reflection on belonging and the pathways to belonging and as you know as social beings belonging the urge for belongings in our dna and the research. The growing research on our need to belong is. It's very very striking for us. Human jr that how much the sense of connection having active relationships impacts our health our happiness or longevity and it's true for poor for wealthy across all populations our relationship and feelings of connection matter and as we know of course there's all sorts of unhealthy versions of connecting heard. One story of these three novices in i see side monastery and they got caught in a kind of minnie's nami and got stranded on an island They'd been voting got stranded on an island hundreds of miles away and so after keeping themselves alive for several weeks they found a cave and it had zafy. who's in it sitting cushions. You never know on on these desert islands and they sat down in the spirit of the cave began communicating in an echoing voice. Saying you know you found your way to the funk spot on the island and you properly assumed often i will grant you three wishes as the first i one of the novices will my wishes to return to the monastery and vish he disappeared. He was gone in the second set. I two i also on return to the monastery. I you know wanna learn at the feet of my beloved abbott shusha. He was gone to and the third side. You know these friends have been my song my community. I miss them and i want them back rush. So as you know when we don't have a secure sense of belonging we develop either. It's unhealthy attachments. Were kind of like codependence. And the and the like are we move more. Towards avoidance were. There's aversive nece towards others and we either push away or we withdraw ourselves yet if we step back and we really look in the deepest way even when we've had bad formative attachments even when there's a sense that are belonging has been severed through harm from our caregivers and trauma and the way the society treats us three reality is. We can never be removed from this web of a living dynamic energy that we belong to the reality is our living forms are inextricably embedded in this natural world. I read a an interesting article in the new york times This is research. That's been done in deep forests and how there are fungal threads that are connecting all the trees and all the even trees of different species throughout the forest and they're responsible for communication between the trees and the flow of nutrients often from the older trees to the younger trees. We are made of an embedded in this living world. You know our deepest nature is that basic aliveness an awareness and love that really gives rise to this world so we're reflecting on belonging and the gift when we intuit and trust star. Nate is a very profound sense of peace when we belong when there's that sense of one nisar connection. There's nothing out there that threatens us. Everything's part of our hearts and for me. The best words that describe belonging are feeling totally at home. You know at home for me with my life in the world. there's a sense of being part of the living world part of a presence. It's larger than our small self and also one with that larger presence so we're holding the world in our heart now. Some of you may be listening right now and what i'm saying sounds abstract. You know just otherworldly and yet most of you have had tastes of true belonging. It might not have had conscious tastes because we we tend to kind of skim over those moments and re fixate on fears really quickly yet. We couldn't long to belong unless we had some taste of it. So you might sense when you've had tastes for many of us. It's when our minds stoop quiet down. It doesn't happen often but it can happen. Perhaps there's a sense of belonging when there's that absurd. Your wave for of loving for a deer one could be outside that wonder at the stars or gratitude. When someone's kind you know maybe a feeling of care compassion. When there's someone who's hurting

As President-Elect Joe Biden Doubles Down On Calls For Unity, Supporters Have Doubts
"Calls for unity and healing. But as NPR's Toby a. Smith reports, many of his own supporters are having a hard time letting bygones be bygones. He's been saying it since his first speech as president elect, Biden implored everyone to put away the harsh rhetoric give each other a chance and end what he calls this grim era of demonization in America. So that's a wonderful sentiment. It's probably a really sweet pipe dream. Abby Gold 59 year old Democrat from Arizona thinks it may be generations before the rancor subsides enough for any real rapprochement. We're not gonna have any healing until the public at large words to have a nice cup of shut up before they say whatever is on their minds, hoping to help many around the nation are ramping up trainings for cross the aisle conversations. Julie Bowler is with a group called Braver Angels, which runs red blue workshops that aim for common ground and civil discourse. When you have the experience yourself of feeling a little opening a little less frantic rejection, Then you've learned at least that it is possible for some of that softening toe happen, and it's a humanizing process. Enrollment is way up this fall, but Bowler concedes it may be a self selecting crowd that's open to dialogue. There are plenty who would be hard to convince, including 64 year Old New Yorker, Darwin, Bush. When he sees bridging the gap with die hard trump supporters as a bridge too far. This is not an alternate viewpoint. This is racism, Hate lying demagoguery, sociopath, E. What else can I say? Bad people? Capital B. A. D. I will not sit in table with them. I will not have a conversation with them. Nor what Elizabeth and Tracy Murphy, an interracial couple in Georgia, who say they've been harassed, even spit at by people they believe were fueled by the president's divisive rhetoric. For any fence mending, Tracy Murphy says Trump supporters would have to straight up admit that they made a mistake and apologized. It's their turn to extend the olive branch. They're the ones who messed up everything. It's not my job to fix it. You know, is a funny thing that the person who was the victim always has the end of being the bigger person. But many on the right are just is adamant that they're the ones Odin apology by what they see as radical socialists threatening American values. Virginia Republican Katherine Schoonover says she's all for bipartisan cooperation. But she calls Democratic calls for unity. Disingenuous. I don't know how you go from telling everybody that they're all secret Nazi fascists, bigoted, racist people. And then you're going to say, But now let's come together. It's just ridiculous coming from the Democrats now and especially, she says sin. She believes the claims even though there's no evidence, backing them up that the Democrats stole the election. It's shocking, and I think that if if the Democrats try to ram this down of race throats, you have a real problem. It's exactly why Darryl Dwayne, a 51 year old Biden supporter from Washington, D. C has been echoing Biden's calls for unity and imploring his friends, too. Not dig in their heels. Unfortunately, that's a recipe for civil war. But so far, Dwayne says, he's not made a lot of headway. I've gotten in trouble for it. I've gotten called nasty names for being Kumbaya. Same with 58 year old New York Democrat Vincent Downing, who's with a group of humanists calling for more cross the aisle, empathy and understanding. Even though Trump supporters may dehumanize him. He says he won't stoop to the same level. But Downing says it's challenging as he put it. He also tends to think like any good lefty would When I just think I'm right. Right. Right. Right.

Flipping the Stress Switch
"Hi i'm jeff. So when i was a little kid when i get stressed out about something my mum would sit me down and go. Yeah but honey think about all the people having problems in other parts of the world. It made me feel both wes alone. And my problems were more manageable. So this meditation is dedicated to the wisdom of my mom. It's about getting perspective around stress. I by changing how we experience stress in our bodies and then by seeing if we can connect it to a larger perspective. So let's go the is can be open or closed. We start by taking a few deep breaths so here stretching on the inhale and then on the sale that's kind of downward motion the the relaxing softening so nice long out breath as you do. This just imagine you can breathe out any tension. The belly softens the shoulders. Relax okay good so this. First part of the practice is about exploring how we experience stress in our own body mines so notice where you're experiencing stress right now. How do you know your stress. What are the telltale signs in your body. How is stress coming up for you right now to a little survey so now we're going to do this move. We're going to try to do this. One eighty turn here and try to reframe the way we experience this. We call all this stress but really that's just a word. It's an idea before any idea stress. There's just sensations. The question is can you begin to experience. What was once stress has just different. Sensations happening in flowing sensations connected to other sensations. Saw them slowly changing. You're like oh weather pattern. So seeing if we can experience ourselves ads this swirling pattern of sensations. Obviously our problems are real but we also have the capacity to put them in perspective to see them as part of this larger story. Okay relaxing here. Just chill out here on our cosmic stoop. Nice long exhale just being in your body when you're ready can open your eyes if they were closed and notice how you feel now versus when you began

4 SEC football games postponed due to COVID-19
"Games postponed today because of covert issues. So there's only three Games that are happening today. Of course, Kentucky is one of them. Arkansas, Florida at seven. South Carolina illness at 7 30 the SEC not the only conference affected, I mean it Z happening everywhere. Um, SEC using December 12th as a makeup day and could even push that into December 19th for teams that are not playing in the S E. C championship game. I don't know. I kind of find that. I guess I don't find that ridiculous and then I do. I'm thinking I'm mean, Obviously that point you're playing for some sort of post season if you need a win there, but December 19th seems crazy to even think about playing football at that point. Very bizarre. Stoops said

COVID-19 cases hit 1st Caribbean cruise since pandemic
"Welcome back to pass money. Check out the cruise lines sinking. Today's session and there could be some new trouble on the high seas. You're looking at pictures of the seadream. One it is the first cruise ship to set sail and the caribbean pandemic began. A passenger on board reportedly infected with the coronavirus. It left barbados. Saturday carrying fifty three people. Nbc's kerry sanders spoke with one of those passengers about safety measures. The ship was taking to prevent an outbreak every passenger and to be tested before even flying are betas where the crew started and getting on the ship within three days and then tested again at the pierre he went on to say. Passengers were not required to wear masks on board until two days into the trip. This is a smaller cruise line as we had mentioned that this is not a publicly traded one but for anybody who's thinking about a cruise that are going to say take a look at that seadream one that went off and there is one cova case on it. Yeah not good. Well this is something. We've been grappling with this for a really long period of time right. I mean the the whole idea used to airplanes and then people started to get eased back into that and it seems like we are starting to hit numbers again. That are that are at least tolerable but with the cruise ships. Yeah this is something that's been going on and people are all betting on something that's going to be very very positive from a vaccine perspective but wow this is this is certainly something. That's not very pleasing for. I think the rest of the big publicly traded companies publicity disaster for the cruise industry guy. And i'm putting aside the fact that you will. You would not be caught dead on a cruise. Let's put that aside unbiased on the cruise lines because it is viewed as mean this stock viewed as the ultimate the ultimate vaccine. Play right and karen has talked about this. A number of times the way to play a potential vaccine would seemingly is going to be a vaccine. In summer is vis-a-vis the cruise lines. Not the not the pharmaceuticals and she's one hundred percent right. But i think what she would also say is going to be huge volatility from here to now. We mentioned the jimmy cliff song the other day. I won't do it again. But i just wanna point out actually saw this love boat episode a few months ago where i think gopher talks to captain stooping about this. So it's amazing. How are is limited imitating life or vice. Versa melts fascinating to me. I just find it shocking. There is only one person i mean. I think it's going to get worse. Would be my strong guests on this. So if you were to be caught dead on a cruise you gotta be careful about saying that now. I guess given the environment that we're in. I think that You gotta look to delay it post which is obviously very bad for the cruise lines but they do have some cash to survive
