Vegas Raiders Cut Down Roster to Initial 53-Man Roster
"Get right to it sam. The raiders cut their roster down to fifty three. It's not etched in stone whatsoever. There's going to be a lot of moves. I think made over the next forty eight hours but any surprises regarding what What we saw today. How you doing great work today. Greg today becky over. A number of those moves broke several of those transactions. Great work as always. We appreciate it for me biggest surprise. I don't think there's a ton of surprises. You take a look at the roster in for the most part guys that we expect it to make the team guys that had prominent roles in training camp guys that we expect to have. Prominent role season are on the team The one surprise to me. And i guess it's not too much surprise when you contextualize training camp and how everything went through the preseason Brown three years removed from the one thousand yard season. You figure you know his speed. His veteran presence could play a factor there that receiving core. But it goes to show you that. The raiders have a lot of faith in henry rugs in bryan edwards to take a step forward in hunter renfro to continue to be a productive sought receiver and and felt it was. It was a mutually beneficial. John brown asked for his release. I expected to be a market for him with the raiders. Feel good about where they are at receiver. So that was the biggest surprise for people for the most part this roster looks how i expected it to look at this point of the season. What about you. What did you think. Yeah and As it relates to john brown zeta-jones also continues To to emerge as a guy that the raiders value as a reserve player maybe even as a spot starter. There's a lot of value in zeta-jones that goes obviously the numbers because he really hasn't put the numbers up but there's a chemistry that he has with dr carr. There's also an understanding now going into year. Three in this offense of what the raiders are doing so Not a bad option to have that deep down on under depth chart. It'll be interesting to see what some of these younger wide receivers Dita turner and dylan. Stoner who did get cut. Whether they're brought back in some capacity. Very lisa i would think both would be on the practice squad. And who knows maybe one could end up. On the on the regular season roster fifty three man roster

I don't either have two houses or two jobs and wasn't it wasn't from to house so yeah okay so you grew up there in the northwest. So did you get a chance to do a lot of skiing women to the passions that you have. Yeah you know. It became more of a passion. As as i got older and stuff. So you start to appreciate things right. it's It's like a lot of things you don't really appreciate kind of. What's around you all times till you to get out you know and i think that's Even the military your show. Sometimes you're sitting there and see for the old lady inspector team cup and he hate it but then you look back on. You're like man out our members joking around with those guys and laugh and the hardest. You've ever laughed sometimes. It's the same with colorado. Sometimes i really appreciate it but definitely you know. It's my favorite place to be because of that reason. I still have my canteen cup. So i went and bought a new in that way. I would pass but you're right. It's a canting. Somebody does brillo. Pads grew trying to get all the stains and everything. They're like dude. Just go buy one of those things. So yeah i think Cf helps keep half the military industrial complex running purchases to replace things people people there are stories definitely and i think maybe if you get a good guy that's like you know he's a good day or whatever he doesn't care you throw that sleeping bag or whatever in there that you'd never used but most guys would look at it and go dirty you know i didn't. I never even use the thing you guys gave it to me. You know. I stopped on the ground. Never used the. Yeah yeah we had a story and rain telling about sergeant major who went to clear he went down to cf. They came back and signed. This papers up. I just would rather stay in band. And then i went through i get. Maybe the little recruited reenlistment office. That's right here's our sign this paper going. They're gonna get so hard to get out so when you mentioned that about the The snow because i was exact same way living around the beach. I grew up in florida and i'll be at the beach here in a couple of weeks and my family. Absolutely love you know. They love going to the beach but they know. I'm not a huge fan of it mainly because the whole ordeal. I think that goes into it today when people go to the beach elise my family. I i can't speak for everybody. But i do see the same aunts moving back and forth and so it's like seven o'clock in the morning people get up. Go out there. They stake their little spot. You know stick their umbrella and put their cooler down the whole bit. They come back to eat their breakfast and they now they've got their land stake go out there and they spend till the sun goes down emblazoning heat high humidity with little win to enjoy the sun. And i burn. I mean i freckle but sun doesn't agree with me and Anyway that's my story. Yeah you know the the locals. I live down there. J. seventy th special forces group who has part of They moved down from brag down to the beach which was right down recruiting toolbox It was it was incredible. The number of people didn't matter as f- guys or support enablers and stuff like that just like to seventh seven. Yeah i'm milton. Yeah okay yes the deal say my house is our and so oh yeah. The locals would go to the beach in the morning. Show up at nine. And then you can off at eleven. There was some function going on. Because it's too hot but then you'd see the line and people heading out at noon you know. Do ninety eight degrees fighting the crowds and stuff. So you knew exactly what you're looking at a week. You exactly what i was talking about. But i love the water on. Like apparently yeah. I love the water. I scuba dive and everything but or used to. I don't do as much anymore. But i just don't like lane out in the sun and baking it just not my idea of a good time. What's interesting is where i lived was just down the road from where ranger school does the water training the little space. And here's always kind of weird because you drive by something you later in life right you go back to it and it's completely different. You remember just kind of remember this very isolated little plays and it's probably because i was asleep on the truck or bus out there and stuff and you get out there and it's kind of surrounded by trees but there's literally houses in neighborhoods on both sides of it right and it's kind of like feels like you're in the middle of the river miller nowhere and then it now i remember. Because i have a list on my computer of all the ones that we want so that anytime you have some money or you're drunk if you're david and on the internet you have something to look for so i was thinking about it and then david pulls out and his nose broken. They had What's her name. Poppy member that had her record. I mean. I don't think they have that gedi prime grimes album which is hard to get to the guy alan. But i don't think it's good records at rough because they're not great but the the songs that are great are really great. That's true she's a queen at that she's really good okay anyway so we got a record where we got the nine. How cancer at home. Yeah it's an hour away. How far collins and we stop by the liquor store. I mentioned earlier and arraigned in a scary scary. Hi kitty cat. And the lanes are walls. Concrete walls like you're driving in narrow two lane highway rural rural highway. What is still interstate. Oh yes so the records so we get home from our drive back. And he takes out the record add. There is a huge scratch on one side and both like. Oh my gosh. What is up with this. This is a crazy. Scrap all sorts of different thought. I thought it was purposefully scratched. Vandalism is this a factory mistake. I thought it was effective because it looked like a rounded like plastic was melted on it. Yes it looked jacked up record. Former Disney Channel Star Alyson Stoner on Mental Health Struggles
"Ellison. What an honor and privilege to meet you to talk to you and to hear you a nasal story so part cost today. Thank you so much. It's truly mutual and honored to be here as well thank you. I'm a great fan of yours. I watched you in. You're a little girl and in movies you've done and you've got such a phenomenal story. Would you mind share you story with the audience. Yes sure. I began working in entertainment at six years old and it was a fulltime job. You could say. It was a combination of training and learning about the craft also embarking on the industry side of things so meeting with agencies and having representatives and going on these auditions and it was a very reoccupying all consuming endeavor that ended up up rooting my entire family from ohio. All the way to the other side of the country to las angeles. And you know there's a mixed way of interpreting this because in many ways i was very very fortunate to have experienced quite a significant amount of success. Early on you could call it. Beginner's luck you could call it really great mentorship from my teachers. But there's also the flip side. Which is the psychological impact the developmental impact when you're removed from normal socialization. And when you're no longer in academic settings and you're you're learning a lot of different patterns that deeply embed themselves and and and give you a sense of reality that's quite skewed from the quote unquote normal. So it's been a multi layered experience but it's the story that i have to work with so here. We are turning turning everything we can into something purposeful. I love it and you've become a huge mental health advocate and just before we began. You made a very interesting comments about helping others in two different states one way you still proceeding through and one way you sort of proceed through now you moving into that other side. Can you talk about this. Because i found it really stinks. Yes as i'm meeting with a lot of different folks in the space were discussing the advocacy at hand for child actors child performers in terms of labor laws in terms of mental health practitioners on sets etc etc. I'm noticing that of course everyone is at different stages of their own healing and process. And you know some like to bring their pain into their advocacy because it's it's the passion it's the spark it's the fire that that really keeps them going

The Lucas Bros, Using Humor 'To Shake Folk Woke'
"Kenny and Keith Lucas are stand up comedians and identical twins. People don't have to react when I see twins. No. Okay, they go crazy like we were in the supermarket looking for some Jell O. Yeah. And we're just about to pick it out. And then some dude came out of nowhere. It was like, you know, you guys have a stick of Doublemint gum. That's from their 2017. Netflix special Lucas brothers were having a moment right now they're writing and starring in a remake of Revenge of the Nerds, But they also wrote the story for the new movie Judas and the Black Messiah. The film premieres today in theaters and on HBO. Max NPR's Elizabeth Blair has this profile. The Lucas brothers are best known for a kind of stoner humor. And here's a rule of thumb You should never do. Shrooms wouldn't do Who looks like you, man. I'm telling you. But underneath the jokes, there's a serious side that draws heavily on their childhood in the housing projects of Newark, New Jersey, called the Garden spires is you always, you know, broken elevators infested with rats and rotten Drug dealing violence everywhere, But you know, there's a community that is people that there's families is my family When they were six years old there, Dad went to prison. My father actually is out of prison. He's not in prison anymore, and it sucks that he's out. I wish he was still there. Oh, yeah. I wanted to go back because all he wants to do is father's sight. Don't like do we pay rent? Now it's over. The Lucas Brothers connection to Newark got the attention of New Jersey Senator Cory Booker in 1999, then a Newark City councilman, Booker went on a hunger strike in front of the Garden spires. He also served as the city's mayor. Here's Booker talking to the Lucas brothers on his instagram. I love your insightful, hard hitting humor and the sort of the Eddie Murphy and S O. My great heroes Coming up, you know, were uncompromising how they used humor to shake folks woke like book arm. Keith and Kenny Lucas went to law school and why you and Duke, But unlike Booker, they dropped out. It was weird Tonto Study law and and kind of be poor and black because it's like, Oh, I see what The consequences of policy and law are like on a daily basis, and especially when it in relation to African Americans and the notion of criminality and how it's projected onto blacks and I see that process. I found myself sort of disengaged very early. I always said, you know what I want to do something that has a direct impact on people. From an emotional standpoint, Judas and the Black Messiah is very emotional. Lucas brothers were in college when they first learned about Fred Hampton, the charismatic leader of the Illinois Black Panther Party in the 19 sixties in the movie he's played by Daniel Cholula, Mother Liberating You can't Murder Liberation is another revolutionary, but you can't murder a revolution for murder Freedom fighter, but you get amount of freedom. He's the Black Messiah. Judas is William O'Neal, an African American who was arrested for interstate car theft and Impersonating a federal officer in the movie. We see how the FBI recruited O'Neill to avoid jail time and earn some money. He was instructed to infiltrate the Black Panther Party. And provide the FBI with information about Hampton O'Neill is played by like Keith Stanfield Target You Like some good information, some nobody else No. Is it some kind of bonuses? I'm I'm counting on it. Bill O'Neill became so much of a Panther insider. He was put in charge of security. He provided the FBI with a floor plan of Hampton's apartment in 1969. The Chicago police raided the apartment and killed two Black Panther leaders, including Hampton for the Lucas Brothers. It was essential to tell the story of how the FBI recruited informants in the black community. I think it's important to see just how insidious The system has been in turning young African Americans against one another. Now they Essentially used poor black people against poor black people to execute their goals of minimizing the threat of black messiah is like we just felt it was important to see both sides of the coin. Whether it's a historical drama or its stand up comedy for the Lucas Brothers. It all comes from the same source in a big thing about our act is that we we always try to ground it and stuff that we've gone through, and it's always been Important for us to talk about these systemic issues and a variety of ways. Now they're writing and will star in Seth McFarland reimagining of 1980 four's Revenge of the Nerds Practice a bunch after school. They called US nerds. So one cool. The Lucas brothers promise that their movie will be almost nothing like the original because times have changed. It's like the juxtaposition of being a bully and a nerd is so different from what it was like in the eighties, where you had this one, a stark dichotomy between what it was bullying what it was to be a nerd. Now that's been fused together, and I think That's why the time is right to make a story about that. The Lucas brothers say it's hard to watch the original revenge of the nerds. Even though the movie was a childhood staple. They're excited to give it an update and to make it personal. Elizabeth Blair. NPR news

We drink to the very air we breathe. A growing body of literature has described. How micro-plastics may enter coastal marine and estuarine ecosystems especially due to their close proximity to human activities however more research is necessary to describe the fate of micro plastic in marine animals that live in these systems and the implications. This has for marine community and ecosystem dynamics. Jellyfish are often considered nuisance animals by humans but in reality they provide numerous ecosystem services such as acting as prey to commercially. Valuable fisheries micro plastic contamination of jellyfish could have implications for the health of jellyfish and the role they play in coastal ecosystems. But scant information exists on this danger. Our research provides the most comprehensive data set to date on micro-plastics from coastal jellyfish. Most notably we documented a high presence of micro-plastics from jellyfish in particular micra fibers coming from clothing though micro-plastics densities differ based on the location that the jellyfish were collected from the jellyfish we studied are bottom dwellers rarely move as such these jellyfish may humilate micro-plastics and may help indicate micro-plastics hotspots or places where plastics are most abundant in the ocean. This is important because it may allow resource managers to more effectively manage and prevent plastic pollution in marine ecosystems. That was.

Now when i got interested in actually learning which was back in one thousand nine hundred ninety i had known of simon aaronson stack for quite a few years because he published it in the late seventies. I think and i knew exactly how i wanted to use the stack. I wanted to use it as an improvisational device to be able to sort of make up effects as i go i was influenced by that by burt. Allerton who had a trick in his book that used that and of course experiencing juan do his new monico sus improvised handling so i specifically knew how i wanted to use the stack and at the time the only stacks available really were one stack had not been published in english yet. I had simon stack. There was nicole. There was the ireland stack and i was good friends with simon by this point in time and so i learned that what now i learned to use the method he suggested which is a pneumonic method. One of course and people like what he aragon suggest every other way pneumonic and this is the third piece of advice. I would give you. Which is before you do anything you have to pay. Due diligence and due diligence in deck works and means buying at least choose me four books. Three or four books.

Yeah think of a worse when compared to that particular movie. So it has to kind of have a space theme. I would say Fuck there was this terrible terrible movie that Brad Pitt on Netflix and it was a space movie and I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called, but it was so boring and I was stoned out of my mind when I was washing. It was in it Brad Pitt. He was a star. Okay enters that Interstellar Interstellar. It was like a fake Interstellar though with Brad Pitt. That's Matthew McConaughey. Like yeah, that's that's yeah that is literally the opposite of Friday. Exactly. Literally the opposite. Okay, next one this one. I really really love it song Dazed and Confused with Parker Posey. "Stoner dot com Tracy my team do offer benefits to offer line what offer only company well you know it depends so with any company whether be small art or large we have different group benefits that can be offered to to the employees they can either be fully paid by the employer they can be partly paid by the employer in part by the employee or the employer can actually just offer it to the employee and let the employee pay it so for instance one of my favorite that most people don't have it is an employee whole life policy in the beautiful part of that is that when a person leave that particular company it follows them and so most people don't realize and it's interesting I think if you did a survey nine out of ten people do not realize that their insurance policy does not follow them so with the group benefits I can offer life and disability okay for group whether it's a group you know two employees to in over a hundred so they're different different ways are underwriting that they need to go through so if it's under fifty have a little bit under running but not much if it's over fifty it's a guaranteed type issue so that's kind of good anyway getting back to that so life until disability is an easy thing this usually offered I do offer that with group benefits but again my favorite is what is called a permanent whole life policy and people don't understand they've been brainwashed in some ways to think that it's something that they don't need and that they don't need to later there is not anyone I know that has a permanent policy when they're gone gone going into retirement that they get why did I buy that why did my parents get that for me why did I get that my employer that followed me so to me for an employer to actually offer that to the employee and them know that they have something for a final expense or something that they can have to retirement is a beautiful thing to have it is the only company it says a whole lot about the company and so when you're a business owner there's some things you want to offer your employees that they can't get outside with other employers in so when you're talking about a smaller company there you know it might be the benefits that you offer them it could be that it's as simple as and maybe it's not the life insurance part maybe it's the long term care that you actually gave them the option to get connected with someone like me that to to start that before they retire before they need it and is so anyway as an employer it you know what I find is the the more successful business owners do care about their employees and they do want down to to have certain benefits available to them even if the employer is not the one paying the premium yet to me as a business owner what you just said creates loyalty in a loyalty is what makes or breaks companies I thank I don't know what night you know my father was one of those true entrepreneurs and I love to watch them through the years I was fortunate enough to work with him for I guess twelve thirteen years after I graduated from college but what I use on him the you know you know still is something that you know when I think about having my own business as I do it's like you know when you have an employee you want to take care of them and all of his employees that he that that he had they all knew that he would take care of them and it wasn't like he had to give them all the money it was like if they had a situation or problem or something is like he took them under their wing and you know they they trusted him and so for him to offer certain benefits to them even if it was something that he did not pay for they paid for but it was offered because he was the employer it was it was huge for the employees that you know that you know he had if you want to talk about getting this for the possibility of your company you reach out.

"Somebody's wrong to throw rocks at somebody until they're dead certainly for adultery. But in any case. Jesus doesn't say that. He doesn't say get rid of this the standard get rid of this law. He doesn't say overturn this law. I am. I am the Lord I out here by overturn the law. He says okay Stoner but let he is without sin. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone, which makes it impossible for anybody to carry out the law because none of us is without sin. He does this again. And again, don't break the Sabbath that's the law and yet he breaks the Sabbath to do good. And he says, you know, the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. He does this over and over again, he takes the. He takes the institution that is there, and he infuses it with love and humanity. And some institutions when they are infused with love and humanity are destroyed slavery. I think would be a good example of that. That's not the way we did it. We did not get rid of slavery by infusing it with love and humanity. We got rid of slavery by staging a war which killed between six and seven hundred thousand Americans which would have been better, which would have been the better way, we could have handled it if we could have handled it in a Christian way that would have been the right way. If we could have said, okay with the bible says about what the New Testament says about slavery is ok you hold slaves. But remember when you go before God, he's not going to judge you a slave and master. He's going to judge you as human inhuman that changes things is very hard to hold the slave. When you know that you're gonna stand before your Lord, and he's going to say excuse me. But he's not a slave to me. He was just a slave to you that changes everything..
