"Their mind that that is how their relationship would ultimately and one of them was going to end up dead. Well I think we Kinda gave it away. When Jacob was at the diner and said that she had become the wife that makes him hold his breath and terror. He was afraid of her because she was so irrational. The problem now is what the cartel GonNa do. They have no use for her and like we said there's no air they also don't need her. I mean right the casinos going ahead. It's already done. It's a done deal. She can't do anything about it so I'm very curious what she's GonNa do where she just GonNa sit around and collect the money because she doesn't seem like a sit around type lady no so I don't know and I don't think she's going to retire and sell honey. "I was like is that a nut cracked in half but it's actually the boat on fire. It's so I knew that was going to happen. I could tell it. was that fancy speedboat. That Wilkes owned owned so I knew that the boat that boat was going to catch on fire. Then there's something that looks like I kid you not a pokey ball so I don't know what I. I'm pretty sure there weren't any pokey balls in this episode so I dropped the ball on this. I didn't even look at the opening. Oh I got to pay more attention I I love looking up here then. There's something that looks like a fork full of meat which I think is related to the next simple which is a buck a deer. Yeah yeah so I think the forkball is from dinner party and them eating a nice forceful venison. Yeah so that's what we've got and as for our dirty dilemma. Aw Don't there you go. There's music so I think this week. It was a little tough for us to pick a dirty dilemma. What we're going to go with ruth because she continues to face an internal struggle? I think I we see her at the marina and when she tries is very legitimately to get them to invest or to accept investment. She is not successful and then she has to come up with a plan B. so her plan B. could've ban to try try again. You know try another way but instead she goes to a criminal plan B. so that was one one dilemma. And then later on she could just you know have the business and the money money laundry through the marina and everything's the way it always has been but she tells her daddy you know. Why don't you go use this place for your own criminal use right? So why did she do that for her father here. Here's one thing I'm thinking. I think that ruth is constantly like I said facing an internal struggle and she's young and she's naive and she changes her. mind minute to minute I feel like I really do and I feel like in this episode. She was shut down. Bye Marty in multiple places okay. She wanted to help. She was excited about getting a new business. He told basically fired her. You know not not really but told her that she can't be around then he has he has to take off of paper rate has to take her name off paperwork and I think that crushes her inside inside. It does so. Then because he's trying to escape that pat exactly then turning and she's saying all right well you know if this is who he sees me as. That's why I'm going to be I'm going to give my daddy. The okay to go be the criminal that he is an condone it. Well and her father does say to her at some point during the episode. I think it was her dad. Says you know what have you done for Mardi. You've only had you've only done his dirty work which is not true because she met knows the club. Yeah and he's put a lot of faith in her and I feel like if it were me and I was really trying to turn my life around and again. We don't know all the history between Ruth and her dad yet but I would have tried harder to get through to Marty to state my value I think. She's got to be somewhat intimidated by Marty. I mean Marty's you know a wealthy suburban family family man sure and so you know I think she wants his approval and acceptance. But I think she's also intimidated by him at the same time so yes. She's struggling poor. Ruth this this really. This whole episode should've been called. Ruth's dilemma that's because once allowing more. That is her dilemma ultimately does does she accept her fate or does she try to rise above. It and ruth were rooting for you. It's right girl we really. We are all right. Well that's going to wrap it up for season two episode three. We'd love to know what you thought about it. We are accepting your calls at three one five stink. "I had to look away for that really really gross About once again Marty is able to talk his way out to save himself. Mardi takes Dell to at a snail's proposes his grand river boat idea that they are going to start a riverboat casino. And this will be able to launder wander and take care of all of the cash that Dell needs taken care of and that the smells need taking care of all solves. Everybody's problem they L. A.. Gray and I'm like nice tidy ending exactly until everybody's happy and Dell is walking out the door and make some kind of a common men about rednecks and Darlene says. Would you say I can't believe I'm going into business with a bunch of rednecks and del turns around and repeats himself and she shoots him in the face. Oh my God like the most. Oh my God head exploded on onscreen. It was a crazy scene completely clearly out of nowhere completely shocking. Fantastic you know and then you see the funniest part of laughing it was. It was actually a horrible scene. But I'm laughing. Because is then the way that Jacob has been conditioned over the years to deal with Darlene like like well she just a Hi Darlene Elaine. And then at one point she goes. I might overreacted. And then then he tells Mardi Gras and he's like Darlene and I'll cleanness up like like it's like oh Joe still yet. They'll just send another Mexican you know like it's no big deal so I don't know what's going to happen with that. That's gotTa have some some consequences there anyway. Did you ever think that the hillbillies would be more more dangerous than the Mexican drug cartel no talking then we see at the end Mason taking his newborn baby into the lake and this very creepy kinda like classical music playing very uncharacteristic of the show and he he submerges the baby in the lake for a really long time. Yes really thinks he's going to drown the baby. Yes but pulls him up and baptize him. And so I'm not sure I kind of took that. As he was struggling in that moment I think he had some kind of revelation relation from God in that moment because it was like as soon as he brought the baby up and place the cross on his forehead and kissed him. He seemed relieved. Yes you seemed happy so I think Mason had a moment there. I don't think his intentions were totally pure. I think you're right. I think it was a moral dilemma. That he had in that moment moment so then at the very end Mardi calls. Wendy tells him it's too dangerous. Just don't come back. He's like I'm okay but you shouldn't be here. It's not safe and than Mardi and the kids. I'm sorry Wendy. And the kids have a conversation in the car and they just picked back anyway and they all hugged. And that's the end that's it. That's that's the end Yup and all of that is to get you ready for season two all right so well. I have unfortunately currently read an article about season two. It wasn't spoilers but it said that it's a little bit slower so I was concerned that season two wouldn't be able to keep up the pace because so much happened in season one. Well that's kind of my big concern. The first time I watched ozark I thought it was very slow through episode four. So I'm I'm willing to go for it because I I think they're going to do not think that okay setting up a lot. So Yeah we've already talked about. We think Roots Dad's going to have a significant art in season two. And I thought it's interesting if you go on. IMDB and look at the cast list. The top billing right now is for her three Langmore. Who is the younger son of Russ and cade langmore? Who is Ruth's father followed by Jason Bateman and Laura Linney okay? I don't trust that means. I don't know if those are all always in any significant order. I feel like they're always kind of weird but I do believe that that the dad is going to be out. Oh and he's going to try to turn Ruth Against Marty and she's going to have I think her moral dilemmas GonNa be the focus of season two. We'll we'll find out. So thanks for listening. The first season one recap we will be back with podcast episodes that go through each and every season two episode so that you can analyze it all all right along with us and give us your thoughts and ideas as well. That's right so tune in and we will see you all soon for more ozarks dirty laundry Eh..

"They're not my favorite episodes but we learned that it's Mason who a bullet to the chest in order to prevent a murder at at this robbery scene and then we flash to mason who is floating in the water. They did a beautiful transition seeing there where he's laying on the ground suffering spring from the bullet wound to hit now. He's relaxing in the lake as his wife calls him his wife. Grace I believe calls him out of the water to get ready for their service and says that ashes here to help quote load up the boat for service at this point. We don't know what that means but we soon find out that there's Sir something special about the hymnals. They used during the service and then a surprise. Bobby Dean pays a visit to the birds by floating his dead body under the dock. Doc So yeah Mardi. Birds starts to draw a lot of attention. How convenient because Mardi birt's now the new owner of the Strip club that did Bobby Dean owned so the sheriff shows up and says I'm GONNA need to see a bill of sale which somehow Mardi polls that together and Marty finally early meets Jacobs Snell? Now this is. I don't know if you know this but the actor that plays Jacob Snow is Scottish. Hey Look Scottish. I'm not surprised. He's he's got really weird accent. And who is definitely not a redneck but a hillbilly. Apparently there's every day for any big differences wants their lanes. That difference right doesn't explain that difference in his story I think he does. I think he does Talking to Bobby Dean Yeah. Yeah because Bobby. Dean is clearly. Clearly a redneck. Hillbillies don't trust rednecks so Jonas starts to learn about guns Bhai cozying up to buddy and You know we we get a little more backstory on buddy and we feel that there's more to buddy than meets the eye. What a surprise in this show and then Wendy sits down to talk to Gary? Her dead lovers son which isn't really important to the story but I think it's important to building Wendy's character and you know just putting more more pieces. This is in that relationship the the very complicated relationship between Wendy and Marty Roy heads out to fish with Russ thanks. Get very very confusing for us. Because I don't think it's revealed in this episode but I'll go ahead mention it now that that we later find out that Roy did do do his homework on Russ and found out that Russ at some point was picked up in another city for you know having having fun with a nineteen year old male prostitute restitute so he knows that Russ probably has some hidden tendencies which during the scene. I'm thinking like. Oh he he just took a chance that Russ has AA. But we don't know that until like episode. I don't know maybe nine or ten or yeah yeah it comes. It comes in later for sure but again the relationships aren't always what they seem. Because you know we think Roy is using Russ and and Russ I love. Russ I gotTa tell you I love him and I just. I don't know seeing their relationship if develop it it's kind of like I feel like Russ's finding himself. Yeah and a sweet it was sweet and then I think they're questions later on about about. Was Roy really just doing an undercover assignment or did he really have feelings for us as well. So we'll get to that but Mardi and Wendy meet with Mason Jason and Gracie to talk about building a church not really knowing the impact that it will have on the snails business and I can't remember if we actually learn in this episode sewed about that now I guess we learn about that in the next episode of the next episode. Yeah he still has no idea like what the smells do anything of nothing going on and they make this this choice because they can inflate construction costs which is great for money laundering. And it won't raise the attention of the IRS because apparently religious structures have some tax exemptions so seems like the perfect solution we find out in the next episode. It's not and then Marty officially hires ruth to to run the Strip club for a thousand dollars a week and I think this is really significant to. Because I'm I'm doing the math. Going for a redneck like ruth in town living in the way that she lives in a trailer fifty two thousand dollars as got to be a lot of money like are legitimate money. And and more importantly it's a male father figure who has faith trust and confidence in her. And that's it. I think this is a a huge turning point for Ruth Yep and an props props to the actress because her face when he offers her the job you know. She visibly stumbles for a minute. Yes she's shocked and he marty says you know unless we unless you to start hiring managers interview managers and she is whereas I think that she had originally seen Marty as someone she could take advantage of and learn from and an ultimately kill and take all your money. I think at that point. She is starting to see that. He's trading like a human being and acknowledging her talents. And maybe maybe she is going to start to like this guy. Well that's what we think till she goes to see her dad. But we'll get to of that We'll get to that so the episode name ruling days. I took this to mean the battle for power begins. So we've got the birds we've touched the SNELL's Snell's the birds representing of course the drug cartel the SNELL's the Langmore 's so who's going to be the ruler and and the ozark symbols that we see in the opening the American and flag the church framework the upside down cowboy boots that I mentioned. That's a Hillbilly boot right. There and a flower which I can only assume is a poppy. Yeah and that leads us to write episode six the book of Ruth. So the SNELL's kidnapped Marty. They they decide. It's time for him to know what's going on. And he learns about the Poppy Farm. They are manufacturing heroin and distributing it on the water and they tell Marty you're are disrupting the ecosystem here dude and you know in no uncertain terms. They tell him that he needs to shut it down. He needs to stop construction on the church. He needs to get the the preacher back out on the water and get out of their business so We also see Ruth's dad in prison. And for the first time we meet him and he instructs Ruth to kill Marty and take his money in case. He's he's like you know. Just do it. And that's it now. Oh I don't know I think again as we were just talking about ruth. I think she's really an awesome fascinating character. I don't think she wants to kill anybody. I thinks she's probably basically a pretty good person to and she's brilliant. But you know obviously. She's afraid of her dad. There's something something is going on there that we don't know about rent and I need to know more about how he has so much power from behind bars. Yeah yeah and also I mean. I think he's not going to be in there long because the way they're all treating him it doesn't because they're so afraid of him and she talks to him all the time and it doesn't seem like he's going to be in there so maybe he has a short sentence and they know he's GonNa be out soon well in in one of the later episodes Ah when when Ruth goes back there with Wendy in Charlotte and I think that's maybe in one of my episodes. Wendy actually mentioned that it is a lower security prison prison. It's that he's in more like a transitional prison and because he's been transferred from a maximum security. Okay okay so then we also have an episode sex Roy by agent Pettis trying to get rust. Go into business with him. He suggests he mentions that he always wanted to open a bait and tackle shop and he's complimenting Russ on his fly fishing bait or whatever. He's he's see. I hate this emotional manipulation. Yeah and and really like because Russ for once is like I could make something of myself. I know I know in Russia's Roy Right Russ's is buying it and he's he's he's found a man and you know but ultimately Roy's trying to get Russ to get money for Mardi he says you know what about that bird guy who's investing money all over the lake you know just dropping Roy's drop in these hints to Russ and Russ is all like I'm Gonna I'm GonNa come into some money and say he's going to do it on his own but there's a scene here where Russ this is constantly. Trying to kind of nudge ruth to get the money from Mardi somehow and I love all the creative swearing wearing that comes out of roots. Smart Ruth's mouth. Excuse me I won't point. She tells ruth to shut your fuck nugget mouth. She you know what she she of it. It just rolls off her talents like she must sing like she must just talk that way in everyday life it is great so oh yeah a lot of things happen in this episode. It's Kinda Kinda jumps around a lot. Yeah Charlotte. She's working at the blue cat and all the rich tourists are coming up. And and you know this nice right white. Rich boy invites her to go out on the boat to pirate's cove or something like that and and she goes and she just you know comes onto him and loses her virginity there on the I that I thought that was a very odd scene. I think what they're doing is they're trying to show how quickly that the kids lose their morals when they realize their parents have none like they're rebelling. They're just kind of I feel like Charlotte's it's kind of given up like well get Charlotte does say that I think in episode ten where she says you know you made us adults. Yep I don't want to steal steal your episode ten thunder but she said you made us adults the minute you told us what was going on. And I've I've made decisions that you can't even imagine John and I know she's alluding to that Yup so I think that's a very interesting scene when when Charlotte does that yeah Ruth considers. There's killing Mardi okay. She has this whole plan because her dad told her to. That she's going to electrocute him on the dock but it doesn't work and I still after watching touching twice. I still don't know exactly what happened there. Who on rigged it? Why didn't it work? Did she go back. I remember the first time I watched the show. I thought she had second thoughts and went back and did everything she did. I think I remember watching it too. I feel feel like the FBI agents on dinner. Okay I might. I might need to go back and take a look at that again but I remember being confused fused about how that happened. Yeah yeah that's one thing. I still haven't quite figured out. So she goes back in a cruise accuses is Russ of unrelenting. It right Oh is she. She said you're the only one that knew. What the Hell did you do? and He. He said he didn't know anything about it. I don't know Also in this episode Marty and Wendy have punishment I like to refer to it all star to they start to bond on a little bit again and they have a moment and they start to kiss and they have sex and Marty starts to slap her butt and do the exact same position that he has a video of her doing with Gary..

"I'm watching like why would she take a dishwashing position. But I realize now it's because she wanted to get close to Mardi delusional journal his dirty laundry right So much to Rachel Chagrin because we do learn through the sheriff through Rachel that the Langmore have a bit of a reputation in down and then we start to question. What's up with Jona? He's watching a lot of videos about the drug cartel we see dead. Animals start showing up around the house. We wonder what's going on and trevor from the FBI shows up in questions. Mardi and Wendy who at this point prove they are brilliant actors. I'm not talking about Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. I'm talking about Wendy in Mardi bird because I'm just watching them going like. Oh my God would I be that quick on my feet. So he says we're looking into the disappearance of your partner Bruce Ladele and he goes disappearance. What I mean what's going on? Yeah and and Jason Bateman is fantastic. Looking he's got that deer in headlights. Look all yes. I have no idea what's going on. He does and I. I would've been like I don't know anything about that like I would give. I would have given it up right away so they basically hold off trevor and keep up their innocent act and this is important and a lot of these scenes aren't important for moving the story forward necessarily but they're so important in just just adding pieces to the complex relationships of these characters so we didn't mentioned that Wendy and Marty at some point have a conversation where Marty says. We're no longer husband and wife. We are business partners and our businesses raising our children. And that's it so Marty's made it clear that we're in this together but I have no interest in in any sort of personal relationship with you but we see these small little scenes where they present this united front and it's really to protect the family but it's also to protect each other and it in a way it's helping them deepen strengthen rebuild their relationship even though they go through a a lot more valleys before they really start to get there so marty in a state of sleeplessness is out on on a boat and stumbles across Mason. The on the water a preacher We learned that Marty is decidedly unreligious and yet ends up taking quite an interest in Mason and his congregation and and Wendy meanwhile decides to start throwing dead animals at the Langmore so she assumes at this point that what is showing up. must be coming from them because it it wouldn't be the drug cartel it would be some rednecks throwing dead animals on her property. Right and then we also see that ruth proves her position in the Langmore Family S. she continues to emasculate her uncle's especially after they purchased some exotic animals and she goes. Did you check to see if their balls on either one of them and it's really interesting because at this point. I don't think you know ruth has has thrown around my daddy a couple of times. But we don't really quite understand Stan. The relationship here. She's a nineteen year old girl and these are middle aged men right and we haven't quite figured out yet what power she holds over them other then. She's a little bit smarter than them. And she can think more long term and just beyond the the Saturday night bottle of Jack Daniels and then Marty finally unle sleeps which gives us the episode name at the beginning the opens with an FBI badge stripper legs of vulture and and security cameras and that leads us to episode four episode for. It's called tonight. We improvise so this episode starts with a narrative from Marty and this is actually one of my favorite scenes in all of the in in the whole season one where he explains how money laundering laundering works. Okay I'm still not sure I completely understand it but you see him in the very beginning or you hear him actually explaining this and then at the end you hear him. Start this exact same narrative after Joanna asks him how it works and it kind of ties. Is it altogether which is really cool again. A lot of that. Maybe I picked up the first time around. Maybe I didn't but you know watching it the second time you realize kind of the brilliance of the story arc here. Yeah Yeah Anyway. So Mardi starts figuring out how he's going to take over the titty bar so he tells ruth I can't believe you said city I know well that's a close eye and you know Bobby Deen who runs the Strip club repeatedly tells him tells as you know because Jason Bateman can't really say titty bar like he doesn't like to say it you yell it makes them uncomfortable. Bobby Dean keeps insisting titty bar. Yeah I love it. Good Accent Shannon Anyway. Thank you Marty Tells Ruth. He needs her to do a job. So she's GonNa be start to see how she's going to be his kind of you know partner in crime not not really partner but the go to girl when he knew him dirty work done so he tells her I need you to steal. What's in the safe? She goes in and tries to case the plays in pretends. She's looking for a job and figures out where the safe is and then she devises a really really clever plan. I mean she's she's brilliant. Ruth one of my favorite characters. Very smart she hands out money to a bunch of Underage Friends of hers and tells them to go have a great time at the bar then calls the cops sang shots were fired so they raised the bar and arrest Bobby Dean for having all these underage kids in there so smart. So she's in there. Bobby Dean is arrested and taken away and she's trying to get into the safe but she can't open it okay so oh maybe not so smart. She didn't think all the way through her plan right very end but couldn't couldn't get the safe open so it's pretty funny. 'cause smarties outside in his van minivan and he rigs up a chain or something through the wall it just pulls just drives away employs the safe right through the wall little bit unrealistic but maybe yeah it works so he gets the safe they bring it to some barn somewhere in their opening it up and a Ah Ruth is bitch in the whole time being all. There's nothing in there you promised to twenty five percent of what's in. There's nothing in there but a bunch of worth papers. Well Mardi finds what he's looking for which I had no idea what he was looking for. But he suspected that bobby deem wasn't really running this business on the up and up and it turns out that Hidden in a fake compartment like a fake bottom to the safe was the bearer of the deed to the bar which and there was no name on it which means that the bearer owns the bar. Right if you're in physical possession of it. It's yours which I again I thought was ooh awfully convenient. But again you have to have some of those moments to to keep it interesting. Yeah yeah so Mardi goes to Bobby Dean and Bobby has to accept defeat week because he knows nothing they can do about that when bobby gets out of jail though he goes to talk to Jacob Snow and I think this this is the first time we met the SNELL's right So older couple living up in a nice house on the hill shakeup and Darlene. Orley yeah and not sure why bobby went to talk to them but it seems like they're in business together is telling him the story and what Marty did to him. In in how Marty's got the bar and all of a sudden you see daren't darlene coming back with some lemonade and all of a sudden she injects bobby in the neck stabbed in the neck with some sort of you know it's Harrison. I assume it's era when he. Oh okay any instantly starts foaming at the mouth and drop step and again. I didn't catch that. The first time through. But the sheriff later reveals that it was enough heroin to kill a horse right and that's what they do heroin. That's right so so we don't know that yet though we don't we don't know that right but we see him foaming at the mouth of the arrows. Yes yeah so that's interesting. 'cause I was shocked going non shocked at that I was shot. Yeah I was so then we go back to Joanna who is dragging a dead animal through the woods and brings it out to the dock. disavowals it so okay Hardy sees this from the house and he gets a little freaked out and he doesn't say anything into Jona right then and there which I would have I would have been like dude okay. What is this anyway? He discusses it with Wendy. They're out on the boat on the water and they think no one can hear them and Wendy makes a comment. You know she's talking about I guess. Maybe she had some mental illness in her family. And she's like what if it's genetic what if he shoots up a school while Charlotte is on the shore somehow hearing all of this and because Charlotte's teenage bitch and not happy with her lot in life right now she brings it up at the dinner table in front of Joanna. Nice go which was really mean it turns so they talk it all out turns out Jonas fascinated with Turkey vultures right so he says I still we still Kinda see Jona. He's he's pretty fascinated with death pretty fascinated with just on the fringe. which you know I? I think that he's just curious and afraid. Yes but he says that he wants to study the Turkey vultures and the dead animals if you just cut them open a little bit that the smell attracts the vultures to the yard. That was his explanation. So the other thing happening thing in this episode is agent. Roy Sets his sights on Russ Langmore. He's trying to find a way in so we can find out more about Marty and he thinks his way to Marty is through. Ruth digs up some information on. Russ which we're not quite sure about yet. But but he hires him to take him fishing. That's that's what they do. They go fishing together. If so clever and I forget which episode that comes up but let's make sure we come back to the Roy Russ US relationship so tonight we improvise. I I think a lot of that has to do with the theft of the safe. Let's just put what a chain around it and pull it through the wall. Yeah we'll improve. Improvisation improvisation are we ready for episode. Five the Amoretti so so episode. Five is called ruling days and the Synopsis Is Mardi decides to invest in the religious sector unaware he will disrupt a a discrete business operation. A surprise visitor shows up the bird home. So we start with a very long intro showing a botched robbery at a convenience in store and we don't really understand what's going on here when I first turned this episode on. I was like wait. I must've turn on the wrong show. I know yeah I sometimes. Sometimes the backstory's confused me a little..

"I don't know if you know what it is. Let me know. But until then we're moving onto episode to. Yeah there's a couple of things I I wanted to mention in an episode one. Just I like the way they shoot this film this series where it's a it's not narrated it's not always a perfect time line fine. They do a lot of creative things with the filming of the show so there is a point where Marty is doing a little narration. And there's a quote he uses them. We actually mentioned that in the opening to our show but he says money at its essence is a measure of a man's choices. And I think that's sums up this whole show And the other thing a little bit of foreshadowing where Bruce and martier discussing moving into a bigger Apart office office space space not a rights based on office space for their Financial Planning Business and Bruce Marty's very conservative and Bruce says to him martyr. You're my best friend run. But you're living at tragically subdued life. which I think is hysterical? Considering what's coming up for him yes it's about to get very unsubdued and it's worth mentioning actioning as well. The Jason Bateman directed this. He actually directed six out of the episodes in season. One so fantastic love him. Yep So episode. A two is entitled the Blue Cat and what we're looking at now. Is the family. Birds are in a hotel in lake of the OZARKS. They've arrived and they have eight million dollars in a suitcase or several suitcases. Under the bed in this dodgy motel really The kids are complaining that they can't stay at a Hilton so they are not aware of. What's going on? They just kind. You've learned that Marty has a job opportunity. And they need to move so they're pissed and they don't understand and they've got a suspect suspect something because of all the stress and how quick they left town in this kind of brings me to one of the dilemmas which we're gonNA talk about Dilemmas Lama's every episode will get to our discussions of season two. But would you tell your kids. I mean they do eventually. We'll get there but if I had eight million dollars in my whole life at stake in a tiny motel room. I think I might tell my kids what's going on. Well they're not they're they're both high schoolers. Rulers were told the Jonas a very young looking freshman yet but yeah I I think that at that point they needed to yet they needed to know so I think that was really stupid. That Mardi didn't tell them so. You know the birds tell the kids. Don't let anyone in the room. The kids think there's nothing value of their. I think Charlotte it makes a comment about. Oh what a laptop and a couple of IPADS so they decided to go have a little fun. CHARLOTTE STRIKES UP Conversation with pool. Boy Invites Her to go out for a ride on the lake Turns out why it is not really a good guy he well. I can't say he's not had a good guy born into the wrong family. We think at this point he may not be a good guy but the cops come after them on the bow and Wyatt throws Rose Charlotte off the back so she's picked up arrested for stealing the boat which she obviously was completely ignorant of had nothing to do with and Wendy. Wendy and Marty go oh I did. I did what I forgot to mention. Let me just go back. Because I didn't mention where where they went like. Wendy was spending the day looking for a house and Marty was spending the day looking for businesses. So that's why businesses to invest into for money laundering. So that's why why the kids were alone at the hotel anyway. Sorry about that so they wendy murdy go to the police station to get Charlotte and this is where we start to see a little more more of a steely Wendy. She hasn't really mess around when it comes to her kids I you know. She's not what I don't think innocent. I don't think week in any way and we start to see this about her where it when she threatens the sheriff's reputation and reminds against him that while they just bought a house and they're now voters So Go Wendy and now back at the hotel they realized that Ruth Langmore for who is the cousin of Wyatt. The made the hotel and apparently a local up and coming criminal mastermind has stolen the money. Surprise surprise surprise. Okay so they got the between Ruth and Wyatt at the hotel. They got the kids away from the room and stole the money. Now this is where. Yeah I love this show in. There aren't many parts that I think are ridiculous but I think Mardi figuring things out and talking his way out of things it just. It's a little. It Far fetched. Sometimes so somehow he's able to track them down. Okay Charlotte says. She thinks she knows where they might have gone with the money and suddenly family Marty's able to find them you know when he doesn't know anything about the area. I don't know that was a little little farfetched to me. But he finds the Langmore. This family consists of ruth and her two cousins Wyatt and three and then their goals Russ and Boyd. Okay and Ruth's father is in prison. Who would be the third brother? So the five of them are. They're in this. I don't know like some kind of little public restroom. I something far apart rate right like Warren down building ending in the woods somewhere. And they've got the money in a whole and Marty finds them. And convinces them is like you know what you've got. There is a lifetime supply of gas and groceries. It's like you can't use this money. He explains blames the facts to them of money laundering. And convinces them to just give the money back but then they keep twenty thousand dollars so which frankly is a creative way of As he's explaining to the Langmore why they can't just keep the money they're really explaining to us about why you can't just find a bag of money and go on a spending spree but it's interesting to note that in this scene and in every scene Mardi never pick up a gun no exactly ever. So Yeah He. He talks his way at every Saddam out of everything. Yeah exactly yeah so you know. Ruth's on fire now. She's concocting a plan to get all the monies for Mardi. She wants it all but I she understands that she needs to learn how to launder it for herself so she's is putting together a plan her uncles. They just want to kill him and take the money. 'cause they're stupid rednecks yeah But she shuts them down. And it's clear when you see see them. Interacting that ruth is in charge now. I believe that's because her dad was in charge in the family. He's obviously the eldest brother of the three and the the other two brothers are afraid of him because she threatens him. Do you want me to tell Daddy. Like in several several cases she's threatening. I realizing that first of all be careful. How you throw that word redneck around as we've learned as in this season it has consequences but I I mean we'll talk about this later but I a end up becoming very curious about the power that Ruth's father holds over the family right right? I think that's going to be a really key in season too. I do too so I do right. So you know Marty's out there pounding the pavement trying to find business to to invest in and everyone skeptical. He He's getting turned down everywhere he finds out that the local strip club is already wandering money basically He starts to feel really desperate and he decides he's going to throw himself off a cliff. He talks to Wendy. He tells her what he's GonNa do. He gives her instructions. Collect Life Insurance money and you know he's he's gone he's he's ready to do it but thankfully he realizes that he's he's not thinking straight great he calls his. I guess private investigator a lawyer friend from Chicago. And he's like well you know just asking for a friend How often and do life insurance policies get paid out? If you know they discover something was a suicide or if they can determine that it wasn't an accident accident and I think the answers he gets kind of set him straight and realize that's not the way to go and you know his wife just had an affair and they're not gonNA Ebony insurance money. Things aren't going great for Mardi at the scene. Yeah but then he's driving down. The road looks up he sees the Blue Cat Lodge in. He Remembers Jona his son mentioning. Oh he met a friend there earlier when he left the hotel when he shouldn't have and Marty kind of takes that as a sign and gets to work convincing the owner Rachel to let them invest in the Blue Cat Lodge Y- so that leads us to episode three which is is called my dripping sleep and as best I can guess this episode is about Mardi finding some semblance of peace of mind wind which I don't think he ever gets in season one but he reaches a point where he's just so frazzled that he can't sleep and so the Synopsis For this episode is is Mardi find a way to control ruth. Wendy worms her way into a job looking for another business to invest in Mardi digs for Info on the strip bar known as the liberty splits the bar so the bird family settles. Settles into the House of Buddy diker who I have to tell you that in season one. I didn't really have feelings one way or the other about buddy. I thought he was a crotchety old man and and watching watching this the second time through them like buddies a bad ass. Yeah Buddy. La Buddy. There's one scene and it might. I don't I don't remember this one or not where he's sitting down with Wendy outside and he goes. What's itching your crotch? I thought that was hilarious. I love when he talks about his daughter's period plugs better. It's better not clog up the system. So they're moving in to buddy diker and then we find out that Roy has come to town. Roy who honest. I think this is so ironic. Roy who has an FBI agent. Who in theory should be the good guy? I can't fucking stand Roy Right Oh my oh my God. He's such an such an asshole and other great thing about this show. Is The people that you think you should root for you. Don't write cut. Characters are really complex. Yes very complex. Yeah I hate that guy so so marty spends time with Rachel at the blue cat and kind of improvise ways to bring traffic and make money. They do the five dollar a a beer and Burger special and they talk about Fixing the prices for the fuel on on the lake and it works and business starts to grow a and Ruth Langmore shows up. Basically says you owe me a job and.

"I mentioned this episode so is called sugar would which they said was Gary Nickname now. I don't remember hearing that are seeing that anywhere. But that's apparently sugar would was gary nickname and as the as the show opens we see symbol of a gun a man on his knees a falling man and then something I can't recognize I don't know it looks like a spotlight on a briefcase or something thinks oh. We're GONNA slide right into the Stinger New Year with our complete recap of season. One of the Netflix original original series owes. So all about the trickle down effect of making a small decision with large consequences. The quiet suburban life of Mardi bird and his family are disrupted. When in his long-standing honest money laundering scheme goes awry? Ever I I was just going to be honest but you know what if you're looking for an honest guy to do money laundering. Mardi bird is issue. Man He's right. He's your guy so each episode as you recall from season one opens with a a big O.. Divided into four quadrants each showing a symbol of some sort of significance for the episode. And then we dive right in and we're just about ready to do glad yeah and it's interesting with the OH. I wanted to mention because the four symbols usually spell out Z. A. R. K.. I never you never. Oh God no come on you have to go back and look. Yeah I mean some of them are a stretch but the way they shape the symbols and whatever they are they are loosely like Z. A. R. K.. You know what now I understand why the cowboy boy boot was upside down making the letter. Got Him an idiot. Please don't let that sway your your choices in Ozark podcast entertainment. So let's dive right in with episode one which was entitled Sugar would or as I like to say it suga would. I don't know I just feels like it deserves a a southern an accent and I'll tell you actually what the significance of that name is. Because I didn't catch it. I had to read about it but Netflix lists the synopsis to this episode. Owed as after his business partner cheats a dangerous client financial advisor. Marty must devise a radical plan to save the lives of himself and his family. I gotta be honest. I don't even know if I knew what the show was about. When I started watching it I just knew that it was really good and everybody should watch it? Oh Yeah I knew. It was about money laundering during which kind of fascinates me well. If had I known that anything financial I usually consider kind of boring but this show is anything but boring so episode one opens with a man wheeling coolers to a boat on a lake after watching it the second time we of course know that this is martyred but this is how we are introduced to Mardi bird a financial financial planner and partner to Bruce. Ladele we learn as you said. He's kind of a mild mannered guy who likes homemade porn. At least that's what we think because we see Marty entertaining a potentially new clients while he's watching a video of someone getting in the I just can't say that she got you okay. And then we meet Wendy Bird Marty's wife and we realized soon. ooh Wendy looks familiar. I've just seen from a different angle Wendy and his kids Charlotte and Joan and they're living the perfect suburban life in Chicago on the surface. Anyway right she talks about going to costco and her. Pretty Benign Day. And you know this is where we really start to. Ed realize that not everything is as it seems so we learned that Wendy's actually cheating on Marty and we learn later in the season and we see a little bit of it here. Is that Mardi kind of He. He has he has this resentment towards her and we realized this is not the first time that that he's learned about this so he's not in shock. He knows his wife is having an affair yet. He continually watches it and he resents her for it. But he buries that resentment deep within and that comes into play later in the season so Marty's out we see him fantasizing with a prostitute. We don't know he's fantasizing at first I but he's fantasizing about how underappreciated he is and in the middle of all this he gets a late night call from his partner. Bruce which takes him to the Office of the Hanson trucking company. And we're we're starting to see that again. Things aren't always what they seem inside. We Find Bruce. The Hansen senior and junior and Bruce's girlfriend talking talking to Dell. Who is Camino del? Rio Talking to you. We know as del but he is clearly an operative for a drug cartel which honestly I thought. Oh he must be big chief but I guess later you realize well the big chief wouldn't be you know flying around making business arrangement so then NAFEESA awesome pretty big chief. What so East Morales Played Dell and he will talk about this later about hot who our favorite characters were and for such an evil guy? God I loved him show. I love to yeah so we realized that mild-mannered Mardi along with Bruce have been can happily laundering drug money and Dell seems like a reasonable man until he the girl girlfriends in the bathroom and he fires bullets. Let's and we realize that girlfriend is not making it out of the bathroom alive followed shortly by the pointblank shootings of the Hansen's sens of Bruce. And I've to say that that scene literally took my breath away both the first time in the second time I watched it I felt like I wear a fine. They're air feeling like the the the panic and Jason Bateman was phenomenal throughout this whole show but watching him pleading and cut of improvising to save his life he does and I was actually reading that he went off script for that scene. which I think you kind of have to yeah to keep it? Real not surprised her so oh he ends up not necessarily saving his life. But getting an extension by promising to launder eight million dollars in six weeks time as he makes his way to to lake of the ozarks large resort area in the mid West so he heads his family down to Ozark. We also meet Roy Roy Roy and his ex lover. Trevor who are FBI agents. And here's where we start to understand that every relationship in the show is going to be extremely really complex. So Mardi liquidates his assets attempts to uproot his family and I know I'm glossing over some really important parts but Wendy goes to her lover Gary for advice he ends up with deadly consequences. That was another scene that took my breath away seeing her lover Gary all eighty stories. Okay Yeah we just. I know I know we're trying. They're like whipped through this. But we have to pause a minute and just talk about that scene because Marty okay. Mardi thinks that his wife his cheating wife has cleaned out his bank account and is gonNA ditch him and take off. Well she did she kind of did right. That was her plan. I think yeah yeah. And he's raging he's pest he goes walking toward Jerry's apartment complex crossing the street and the body just drops in front of him when he was so shocking and he instantly knows he knows and it Kinda Kinda like just let me turn around. uh-huh yeah but that so. That episode was the first of all I should say the first but it was one of many many significant moral dilemmas lemos. I mean this was going to say this would make a great book club discussion but also a great podcast discussion. That's why we're here. So the moral dilemma. Uh is that Marty gets a call from Dell who says your wife is here. What do you want me to do and he? He knows that she's been cheating. He knows he's at her lover's apartment department. It downloads everything. Yes and Marty knows and Marty Nice all of this and yet there's something in Mardi that says this is my wife. This is the mother of my children and he cannot punish her in that way and then Marty is a good guy. He is a good thing that we need to keep our sights on throughout this whole discussion is he is a good guy So and he wants to protect kids protect his family. So the family sets Out For an ozark adventure. That's the nicest way I can put it and the episode ends with Marty Stopping Justice. They're arriving having an when he says what are you doing. It goes just Just give me a minute. I gotta take a leak or something like that and gets out and he goes to this clearing and it's you know I think it's so symbolic on many levels. It could be Cathartic it could be the enormity of this situation it. It could be Mardi weighing his options as he appears down the cliff that leads to the lake. And we kind of see him break down just a bit Emotionally but he knows to to keep most of it bottled up inside and that was the first episode and I liked. I was surprised when I re watched it that well. They got US far in that episode. Yeah why I happened. Yeah they took us a very much into Very much into the heart of the story so real quick before we move onto episode two. I mentioned this episode so is called sugar would which they said was Gary Nickname now. I don't remember hearing that are seeing that anywhere. But that's apparently sugar would was gary nickname and as the as the show opens we see symbol of a gun a man on his knees a falling man and then something I can't recognize I don't know it looks like a spotlight on a briefcase or something thinks oh..

You're right you're like a we actually had someone join our facebook group Group TV and movie discussion group which we love and we'd love to have you there and she said that it was sort of that weird experience of putting a face to a voice. Yeah and just keep you generally informed on what's going on in entertainment and by doing the live format that gives you a chance to interact with us directly absolutely. Make sure you've joined our facebook community. It's called TV and movie discussion with Stinger. Because that's where we'll be letting you know about these. FACEBOOK facebook live sessions. We tentatively have them scheduled for Wednesdays at one PM Eastern but we might switch that up now and then so definitely join us in the facebook group or follow us on at Stinger podcast instagram and twitter and will make announcements there too so anyway we would love to hear your thoughts on the a change in format if that works for you. If that doesn't work for you if you are like super sad and crying and depressed because of this change we want to know that too. Because maybe we'll make some some podcast episodes just for you. You know we care about you. We do. We love our listeners. And this changes mostly because we WANNA be able to interact act with you even more so without further ado. We're GONNA slide right into the Stinger New Year with our complete recap of season. One of the Netflix original original series owes. So all about the trickle down effect of making a small decision with large consequences. The quiet suburban life of Mardi bird and his family are disrupted. When in his long-standing honest money laundering scheme goes awry by laundering ever I I was just going to be honest but you know what if you're looking for an honest guy to do money laundering? And you know this is where we really start to would realize that. Not Everything is as it seems so we learned that Wendy's actually cheating on Marty and we learn later in the season and we see a little bit of it here. They're air feeling like the the the panic and Jason Bateman was phenomenal throughout this whole show but watching him pleading and cut of improvising to save his life which he does and I was actually reading that he went off script for that scene. which I think you kind of have to yeah to keep it? Yeah Yeah but that so. Yeah they took us a very much into Very much into the heart of the story so real quick before we move onto episode two..

Netflix Announces 'Ozark' Season 3

"Ozark season three is coming back March. Twenty seventh twenty twenty. They kept that under wraps as long as possible. Possible and kept. Everybody speculating and they kept a lot of websites in business publishing false information. Yes and so many questions. I mean gene these facebook groups for Ozark fans literally every day. It was becoming a joke with people being season. Three coming out and now now that's using three. He's been announced. There are people posting in those groups. When is season fourteen coming out like just to be funny so yeah. I often wonder in those facebook groups. If some of the writers are secretly in those groups that will be cool. Somebody's gotTa be listening to what people are saying what they're chattering about going on to read it it. I'm sure that happens if I'm sure it

"Okay like Shannon good or favorite. Good Well I don't know what you mean by that. I don't know what you mean by that. I'm not sure it's your you know what I think you should give it a try like you might. Yea I feel like you wouldn't love it as much as I do definitely but it has a walking dead vibe. It's okay not it's not a vampire show which is really the unfortunate that it kind of got that stigma when it first was being promoted but it's about a scientist and there is some some sort of bacteria or virus. I haven't really figured it out yet. So I'm not all the way through the series but something that gets released as the polar ice caps caps are melting this kind of thing so that little bit of political agendas thrown in there. Yes yes yes but that too much. It's not sickening or anything and this this whatever. It is a bacterial virus or something gets released and people get infected and the infection spreads you know very similar to the walking dead and people turn turn into these monsters and the only thing that even relates to them is that they drink the blood of their victims Adamska they just attack people drink their blood. So it's not like you know the sexy Vampire Vampire diaries. Where they're going around like sucking people's knacks and kissing them and making them forget added compelling them to do things it's nothing like that they they become these grotesque insane creatures that just attack people and kill them viciously flee and drink their blood so there are definitely a lot of Definitely a lot of violence and Ian Summer holder a Luther Swan that. What is his name? He signed Dr Luther Swan and he claims you know he says I'm the one that can figure this out. I can fix this. He's got a son. Throw that into the mix very very good show so far I feel like I could watch it because even if I didn't like it. My consolation prize is Ian Summer Exactly. Yeah that's and that's not a vampire. He's just a good guy a good looking good guy yes like quake. He's like like superhuman hot in my mind in my mind. Nah So what I mean by fair good versus Shannon good. It is that I tend to be a little bit of an entertainment snob. Like I either like something that has to be award-winning or it's something. That's just really stupid that nobody likes. I like I like you are more like the average entertainment. Yeah I more mainstream than you. That's why I I never know what to think with you. Because you like Madeira. You know I I know vampire so I'm not quite sure I feel like you. I want you to give this an episode or two. Okay I will. I will do that so let me. Just run through a couple things that I watched quickly and and I think this all plays perfectly into what I just said about my style of entertainment viewing so I watched Richard Jewel. I actually got to see a preview of this movie Just came out over the weekend. This stars Paul Walter Hauser who is just like this pillsbury dough boy of a guy like he. He's been in a couple of things he was in I. Tanya he was in black Klansman That's where I've seen him Tania. Okay I never really paid attention engine to him. Fantastic in this role. This is a bio-pic which by the way my sister and I have learned that we pronounce that were different differently. I say bio PIC. That's what I say to. She calls it a biopic And I was like that sounds like you have a vision. Problem looked it up. Biopic is the US pronunciation Gatien bio-pic is the UK so anyway it's a bio pic about Richard Jewel. An actual guy who was cured guard during the nineteen ninety-six Atlanta Olympic like bombing. who quickly went from hero to suspected terrorists and then back again but it was he was basically trial by media and it ripped ripped his life apart and this is the kind of movie the stories? Good it it's sort of a slow story but it's it's really really good and the acting is phenomenal. Kathy debates is in it Sam Rockwell's in Jon Hamm Olivia Wilde so a highly recommended. I did do a full length review a full length video review short video reviews so it's everywhere so you can see what I think if you're interested in seeing this and then we also watched so we started this show on net flicks that I just absolutely love the show and I think he would like it if you haven't watched it yet. It's called the movies that made us. I do want to see this. and IT'S A it's a series of episodes. It's kind of like a behind the scenes. Look at the making of some pretty beloved movies from the Eighties and nineties and I mean obviously it helps if you've seen the movie but we watched the one for home alone own. We watched the one for ghostbusters. And then we watched die hard. 'cause they're all they all are sort of Christmas movies. Actually really if you think about it they take place yeah. I saw that say assistant so we actually watched die hard. which is available on the Sony Sony crackle channel which we have on Roku? I've never watched this show this channel before but tons of movies. The only downside site is you have to watch commercials. But if it's a movie you WanNa see and you don't really want to rent it then like I can live with that so anyway. We watched I hard. I let my son watch it with us and I was like. Oh yeah that guy just got his sprains blown out and you know you just forget that eighties first of all age action movies. Were like tough guy. Eight violent blood movies and hearing the behind the scenes story of that one was like people were laughing. At the fact that Bruce Willis was cast asked us an action hero. 'cause they're like he's wimpy funny. TV Guy and so when you hear all the so they do talk to a few of the actor. But mainly it's like the directors producers cinematographers. Oh cool and it's just so fascinating to hear their take home alone was the first one we watched and that was really really really fun to watch because you know it was like a movie that almost didn't get made and some of the classic parts of the movie that weren't planned or like the stunt guys like. How are we going to shoot the scenery here? It just if you love movies and you love entertainment like Shannon and I I do. I think it's totally worth watching. Okay okay so we also watched daddy's home two which is streaming on Hulu. Sure New Christmas classic. It's my Christmas classic classic. We watched it just as good as it always is and then also on Hulu. We did a Lotta Hulu watching these days because by the way I'm really mad that the good places is not back yet but we watched runaways. I didn't realize this show was back. Marvel's runaways. I think you gave up on this show I I did. Yeah yeah so it's stupid. It's stupid and yet here. We go with the. Something's I'm watching her like really good like Richard. Jewel will like Golden Globe. Nominations and I'm like runaways. It's stupid but it's fun so anyway and we're watching it like we what happened. I don't remember any. Yeah this and it's just so like come on like the flash how the flash was like like oh the flashes so good and then you're like oh come on all right. Let's watch some more so that's kind of how we are with Marvel's runaways so I will probably keep up with that. Keep you in tune with that and the other one that I keep. Failing to mention that I've watched is so you stupid. That's called the masked singer this show. Yeah you talked. You mentioned it. podcasts ago it just started watching it. I think it's so stupid. It's basically like like BC probably more like d list celebrities who are looking to revitalize career so they come on in these elaborate costumes. And we don't know their identities and they perform and then you've got four really stupid judges trying to figure out who they are and honestly it's like it's a forty five minute show and I can probably watch it in two thousand five minutes fast for all unlike like it doesn't even really starting to four minutes in 'cause they're doing like the band term like I don't care I don't care I don't care okay. Clues singing just talk. And then let's do the reveal so anyway anyway. We're watching that because because Evan is like my son He's like let's just turn that on one of those like we don't have to think about it. Let's just watch the stupid Richaud. Yeah Yeah Anyway. Wow that was a lot to talk about and Just real quick. I want to mention the day. This podcast episode. It comes out. I will be on my way to see the rise of skywalker. I have got an advanced screening invitation to you see it and I am pulling my son out of school to go. See it with me because there's only one screening in my area and it's in the middle of the day and I feel like this is a monumental occasion occasion. We're GONNA go see it. I have high hopes absolutely definitely worth pulling out of school. I will be interested. Actually I probably will. I'm not listen to anything you have to say about it until I see it. I think that's a good idea because I don't really want. It's going to be tough but I don't really want to hear I mean I'm going the first day that it opens but I don't want to hear anything don't hear anybody know. "stinger" Discussed on Stinger TV and Movie Podcast

"It was really good it had this other. Little storyline with the concur with Christian Bale's character and his wife which was kind of extraneous that they just threw in there for some kind of I dunno extra emotional thing that was weird but generally the acting was amazing. The story was exciting and they had this fantastic cinematography giving you the view of the race car driver like you were. I mean man. It felt like I was in the seat. I was almost getting like nauseous. I was cringing. It was really cool. All right I'M GONNA take my husband to see it because I you will love it you like. I had someone on facebook earlier. Say I don't know whose opinion I should trust over this over this movie. A movie critic or an automotive journalist and blogger and I was like you know what I'm both I gotta go see definitely I think you should. I think you would like it and and then I saw a few movies on TV. I finally saw Zombie land. This is very old. I know but I finally saw it. Everyone's talking about great. This movie is and it's such a cult classic and it was okay. I think it's just too old now. You know now that the walking dead is out and everything I mean. This was a pre walking dead movie. So okay okay. Okay wasn't as funny as I expected that that was going to be funnier and my husband and I put on this movie called the clapper upper kick. It starts Andy from the office and I apologize. I can't remember his real name there. You go at homes and it is about a guy who's a professional clapper in like infomercials. Okay like he sits in the audience and caps yes Yep and and the how. The story goes that he gets noticed. Somebody unlike a Jimmy Fallon type of late night. Show does kind of like a little sketch in notices that this guy is in several infomercials calls him out and it basically almost ruined his life. Because it's getting him all this negative attention attention in real life and it's just you know and then there's a love story thrown in. It's it's not really good. You know really. At first I was good which which is funny because that was kind of the storyline for his character. At the end of the office he tried to go on like an American idol type show and he had had a big like meltdown and the video went viral and he was known for that sound similar. Maybe that's where they got the idea from now but it was below average. I would say I'll skip it. And then the last movie I want to mention is dolemite is my name. This is a Netflix. Original title. Starring Eddie Murphy. And everyone's saying this is like the Eddie Murphy Renaissance if you were an og fan of Eddie Murphy back when he did raw and his standup and SNL SNL. You will enjoy this movie. I not going to say it's fantastic. It's chuckle on. You'll be like man Eddie Murphy. He's great like He. He is amazing in the movie. It's based on a true story of a comedian. And how he just kind of bucks against the system and makes Komo makes his own records. Everyone keeps telling him no and he makes his own records makes his own movie. and He's you know wildly successful. Lots of really really good people in this tightest process. Burgess Titus Burgess from kimmy Schmidt Craig Robinson who plays Darryl in. The office was in it. Chris Rock was in it. Wesley Snipes was Senate so really great cast and is a very fascinating story and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching Eddie Murphy. Beat himself again. After in the seventies it is okay. Yes it's DOLEMITE. Yes there's a reference there okay. So earth watching yes. I think it's worth watching Joe. Don't expect have to be like blown away but like I said you're an Eddie Murphy Fan. It's it's it's good to watch you. Expect to be entertained as we are saying. Yeah and really. That's our our only goal here guys is to provide a little entertainment. Maybe some knowledge for you. Could Maggots End World Hunger?

"Are that you like me have spent the better part of your sentient life assuming that maggots are gross and a lot of them are due to their intolerable habit of eating rotting flesh and feces but have you considered that maggots might be what saves saves you all of us in the end. Not maggots are created equal of course no one. That's going to save you is not the flesh-eating screw were Maggot of the Florida keys. He's not the larva that Invest Sardinia's infamous end legal delicacy Casa Mars Zoo or mega cheese. There's only one maggot currently known to science that that could possibly save humanity and that's the larva of the black soldier fly and they're still kinda gross thousands of them will feast on a single food source at once creating reading a writhing living fountain of Maggots but sometimes you just have to set aside discussed in the interest of survival. It's arriving Living Fountain of Beneficent Earth Saving Leaving Maggots Common in much of the Western Hemisphere and Australia. You may not have remembered noticing a black soldier fly before the adults are about one inch long around two and a half centimeters and can be mistaken for wasps. Only they're extremely slow and lack a stinger they often issue flight and spend their fourteen days or so of adulthood Mosey around on the ground but what black soldier flies look like as adults hardly matters as they spend very little time in their grown up bodies in fact thus have no mouth parts or digestive organs because once they become flies it's sort of a hit it and quit situation they can meet within a couple of days of hatching and they don't live if more than a week or two after that so it's the larva that have sustainability researchers salivating literally if their plans come to fruition we will all be eating black soldier fly larva which are referred to as BS. NFL in the Biz this is because BS NFL contain about forty three percent protein in addition to who some calcium and amino acids which is astronomical compared to every other plant and animal based food on the planet and they taste like peanuts or Fritos depending on who you ask according to a two thousand thirteen United Nations report insects already made up parts of the diets around two billion people worldwide and as Earth's human population grows meat like beef and chicken will be a protein option for fewer and fewer people it only takes one acre of BS NFL to grow the same amount of protein S. three thousand acres of cattle or one hundred thirty acres of soybeans. The larger themselves can be dried and turned into flour pressed for their oils or roasted and sprinkled over over a salad for a little extra crunch. The Sky's the limit with these little buddies not only that BS F l make great trash processors. They're capable of eating a wide variety of organic waste nearly anything you can throw at them from food scraps and rotting carcasses to poop and toxic algae although they reportedly had a difficult time managing in hair bones and pineapple rhines so farming with them would leave us with a smaller carbon footprint and a whole lot of compost a group of researchers at Texas am and has even figured out how to put. Bs fell to sleep for long periods of time and then wake them up when it's time to put them to work eating waste a few different companies. These are currently trying to make this BS F. "TV. The and you know what Shannon by the way hi hi how are you. I'm good how June like a linked and may was over and we're into June soon. Oh it's funny. I think may drag on May was a long month for me so I'm happy to be done with it. We know it's weird so on our last episode. If you guys didn't here we did a summer movie preview not all of the movies but we talked about kind of like the big ones that have a lot of buzz and I realized Oh my gosh a lot of these movies zero already out and I don't really feel like going to see them. I've always found for a movie. I'm not into that summer. Movie Mode and you have to remember for for those of you that don't know I have a twelve year old son so we're like on that cusp of were not quite ready for rated r movies yeah like not not without what thought anyway right so some of these movies like. I think like what was the one that we talked about. Bright Burn said Yes yes. We like a superhero horror her story he saw the trailer is like that looks really good and I just you know a rated R. Horror Movie. I just don't think we're there yet right. You gotTA airflow. Oh Yeah at least you have to wait and hear other people's reviews right right and other mothers. You know like good omens which we're going to talk about today. I started watching it without the family and my son said I really wanted to see that because he loves David tennant because the whole Dr who connection and and I said Oh well I think you could watch excited already watched the first episode. I'm like I think you could and I looked it up and it's TV M. A. But it's not really a hey at all yeah. I know some of those things maybe because they use you know they said Fox a few times. They have to rate it. May Yes and nothing else what's in there and there's like implied sex and yeah but there was zero nudity. There was nothing I mean I guess if you don't want to expose your child to demons women's and the end of the world but that was pretty much my childhood which I will talk about because that's a big part of this but before we get into our Stinger type of the week because this is is going to be sort of a fun and interesting show to talk about for a lot of reasons. Let's talk about what we're watching. What are you watching Shannon well. We are up to our eyeballs in madman still. I think I talked about this last episode but my husband who is in the PR and advertising business has never ever seen madman. I've never seen madman for years. People have been telling us. You have to watch it. It's great. You'll love it. Finally I don't know I guess you know a few weeks ago. In May we were kind of a a a show whole there was nothing that new out and I'm like all right. Let's let's try it. Let's start watching madman well now. My husband like cannot cannot stop it. It'll be like Oh what in the morning and he'd be like one more episode. I'm like I have to go to sleep. I had so he's late for you. Oh superlight I have not been sleeping while because my body is weird. I will wake up like automatically at like seven o'clock. I just my body just does that's. That's Emmy lately too yeah and now we've got this weird. Can I just talk for a minute about the mentally impaired bird that we have living outside the house. Okay there is a bird and I actually I actually video. I took a video of it. This bird every morning actually all day along at random times just flies right into our window. It's like did not not flying hitting it but like pecking like he's trying to get unlike pecking at the window in fluttering packing you know and then I walk over to the window and he flies away can can i. I tell you what it is. Yeah please. I think it is springtime. It is the season of love and maybe maybe he's just been shunned by his community and he sees this handsome bird in that mirror and he in that window and he's like. Let's get it on wow. Do you think I think trust me. I've seen I've seen a lot of bird sex lately. I'm telling you know I was talking to my neighbor. The other day she has birds that live in her shudders okay and I we were just watching standing outside talking about and I look up unlike other birds. I'm like Oh what is he doing. adheres like hello lovely lady. Birdie and yeah yeah they were. They were having some vertex. Oh my gosh. I don't think I know what bird sex looks like. It's the boy bird on top of the girl bird up. Okay Trust me. You would know it you know it so that I do it. Do they. Do it from like on top behind like like a lot of animals or you like missionary. Bert Sex and I need to know cuddled caress each other in their wings and they know the dude is on top. Let me take care of business. It just like goes telcos. Yeah all right that is that's that is my theory on that. That is a is a very interesting thing theory. I'm glad because everyone in my family's just like what is wrong with this bird like you guys we love to talk TV and movies but you the sexist fun too yeah and if you have some theories you wanna share about what's going on at Shannon's house. We'd love to hear anyway. We got off track but my point Whitewash Madman bird yes. This bird is waking me up at like six o'clock every morning now even earlier than I would normally get up and I'm not getting enough sleep. However we are are just all my God so enjoying madman because you have you watched Ben. I watched the first episode a couple years ago. Okay now. It's it's very very different and I'm actually surprised that there isn't anything I feel like. There's nothing else like this. Since isn't it sort of soap opera ish kind of I. I would not say that like IRA units like desperate housewives kind of no not no I mean it's definitely a serial drama that type of a show but it's so unique in that it is just I. It's almost like here's how I would explain it. It's like drama version of Seinfeld. It's really what yes it's. It's almost about nothing. It's just about these people's lives. It is it's like there's there's so many points in the show. Show where I'm like. Oh my God something really bad. It's going to happen and this is and it never does and then I and I talked to my husband and I'm like well. That's Kinda like real life like you think something bad might happen but muscle time. Bad stuff doesn't really happen. I can't tell if this is glowing endorsement because it's only it no it's amazing. It's amazing. It is just it's so real. The characters characters are real. The dialogue is excellent. It doesn't over explain or spoonfeed anything to you. In fact it like from episode episode. Even it can skip over weeks. It'll be like the next accepts Odin. It's weeks later and you're like wait what and then it'll slowly fill things in for you which tape brilliantly done the acting is amazing and the other thing that I have to say about madman if there's anyone out there sauce and seen it it is the only show I've ever seen where every single character you love and hate though I love that Yup and Yep. There's no true villains. There's true heroes. Everybody has depth so I was in my car this morning and my car has this this issue where it randomly starts playing stuff on my phone and started playing this stand up bit from Jim Gaskin who I love and he he he started talking about how you know how when you finally watch a movie that everybody else has seen and you're like hey okay. I'm ready to talk about it and it was like I watched it fifteen years ago so I wanNA say guys. If we discover it for the first time it is new to us and we are all about talking about it so if you're just if you have just started watching stranger things and you're like Oh my God stranger. It's totally okay. We're absolutely absolutely and if anyone's looking for something new I can highly recommend madman so there are seven seasons. We just started season six so yeah that has basically been taking up all of my time. I did however go to the movies and see Aladdin and I love to write loved my daughter. You surprised I was I work. I didn't really go in with any expectations and anybody who knows me or listening to. This podcast knows that I'm really not a fan of the live action reboots like I wish wish they would just stop with it already but this this was brilliantly done and I was very nervous about will Smith right you know comparing comparing him to the iconic Robin Williams but I thought he was perfect. I thought there were some very subtle callback and some parts where will smith was kind of trying to be Robin. Williams and I thought it worked. I read reviews where people said they didn't like that. I like it. I thought it was beautiful that it was a great tribute. You extremely well done. I mean my daughter. She's very emotional anyway. She's almost she's almost fifteen this. I know she the the the first scene she started crying crying through like seventy five percent of the movie she cried. It's so beautiful sorry cassie. I just laughed oft but yeah yeah but it was it was it was very moving very emotional very bright very vibrant. You know the way it was filmed film. I I loved it. I think I think I talked about it on our last episode and we all know I have a heart of stone so I go so in never expecting to like anything not true I do sometimes and but I was really pleasantly surprised I did a sixty second movie review on this and it's funny because some people are like well fainter liked it then I'm GonNa go see it because pretty much like implying. I don't like anything and so now I've had a couple of friends friends that were like I it was good but it wasn't an and I'm just thinking you're wrong. You're okay because if I liked it. It's good all right so that's right listeners. Yes if you don't agree with us. You're wrong go well. I'm glad you liked it. I mean usually usually I watch a movie. It'd be like and it really like it but I could see why other people would like it or this. Movie is good for fill in blank but this this when I was like I really liked this so that was good..

"And I'm Fager, welcome to stinger TV movie podcast where we're talking about TV and movies. Although this episode we are going to be talking almost exclusively about movies because as Shannon mentioned. It's that time of year it's that time of year where all of the sudden, it seems like we have these movies that just come out in rapid. Succession. Yeah. And everyone's always trying to capture that big summer blockbuster. Like what's going to be the big summer movie? I have a prediction will sign you to. I've a prediction to I mean, I think looking at this group of movies, there's only one or two that could I think there's only one that's going to be Lee blockbuster. And I know last year we're gonna disagree. I know already. Well, didn't we have some sort of contest last year? We had. We did. So last year we had CARA on, right? And she went through all these with us. And we had a little contest about which was now. What was it the most money? What made the most money or the opening day? What exactly did we decide that you're asking me to remember from a year ago, I am? I think I think we talked about what we thought would be the most popular movie, and then what we thought would make the most money like, what would what was the best movie and what would be the highest grossing movie. I think that's what we talked about. And I don't even remember what my prediction was. Well, I don't remember what our predictions were. But I remember CARA was right when she said, the Jurassic Park movie, I think that was the highest grossing last summer. I went and saw it. I liked it. I think one of the few men, I saw it. I didn't like it. But okay. I mean I didn't hate. It just was typical you guys. That's why we're here because Shannon, and I almost always have different opinions. Nhs on movies. And last year when we did this summer blockbuster episode it was long. It was, I think it was like a two hour episode we decided we don't need to Wade through each and every single movie that's out there. Although that's how we first learned about eighth grade. And I'm not sure I was just thinking about it. That's right. That's right. That's right. Well, we've picked out what we think, and what is generally accepted by the internet, of course as the biggest releases of the summer and we're gonna most anticipated early. Yeah, we're gonna talk about the trailers and what we think, and whether we're going to see them and I think that we should make our predictions at the end about what our favorite movie is going to be, and what the highest grossing movie is going to be so many later. It sounds good. To do what I have this crazy idea that before we start on our stinger topic of the week. It's really crazy. Especially if you've been here week after week with us that we talk about what we're watching. Oh my gosh, really I'm completely unprepared. I know what? Well, what am I watching? So what have you been watching our? Well, I've been watching some old school shit. You're going to be very proud of me. I finally watched the forty year old virgin had you not seen that never saw it never saw it at. That was, I think that was the laugh out loud. Funny movie. It was it was absolutely Aleph outlet and it stands the test of time. I mean. Okay, the waxing seen. Yes, you know that, that was real by the way. Oh, yeah. So what you saw was real. If you guys have seen this, this is Steve Carell, who is a forty year old virgin and his friends are trying to give him all this great advice about how to get. Late or get a girl or whatever, and Steve's a Harry dude so off, they suggest that he goes and gets his chest. Wack when he's coming home on his bike, and there's a lot of ensure I was like, oh. Yeah, it is definitely left out loud. Great booby great cast. It's so fun seeing all of those actors Paul Rudd, Seth Rogan like as little Mindy Kaeling little bit. Yeah. In a very unexpected role. Yes. Yes. Yes. So very very much a joy that also I started watching madman, my husband and I don't typically watch the same sort of stuff and he kind of has the attitude, like I don't like to waste my time watching TV. So it has to be something really good for him to sink his teeth into, and he's in advertising and public relations as a career so madman. We finally sat down and decided to watch it, and we pretty much can't stop. Now. It's really it's like a real. We've been on a bender. Yeah. So enjoying that. And a while now on that too, a lot of, you know, race see all these people they're like, wait. I know who this is. And then you gotta go look them up on I am db and all that. So and, and I've a huge Jon Hamm fan now. I've only seen the first episode of madmen, and I didn't hate it. But it wasn't like, oh man, I got to watch more. But yet, it's one that, that I've gone back to, I think that's what's interesting about madman is it isn't that type that sucks you in, and you're like, oh, my God. But there's a lot of very slow purposeful. Character development that I think once you keep watching, if you episodes it really you get immersed in it more than, like, I, I can't wait to see another episode. It's just like you want to. You know how sometimes you watch shows and you feel like you're living in their lives. Well, that's how it was with the Walking Dead like they were part of my family. That's, that's how I'm starting to feel about this show. You know, like that, man, I can't wait to see what happens with her, and the psychiatrist and the kids. And so it's like is that kind of show really enjoy definitely add that I've been watching a little bit of a show called the society. And this is a all right here. It's Lord of the flies meets under the dome. Ooh. That sounds like my kind of show. Well, maybe not because it's so all teenagers. Oh, so you've got thrown in everybody that wants to fuck each other. You know. All right. So I, I don't know romance. Right. I don't know that it would be your Cup of tea. I've kind of half watched it, my daughter's watching it, and I am in the room, awas, and I'm show skip she'll watch episodes like honor iphone up in a room and then she'll come back downstairs, or, and put one on and I'll be like, all right. So just catch me up. You know, it's like that kind of show for me, like I don't have to. I'm not compelled to watch it all, but the basic premises there is a, the very strong weird smell in this town. So they take all of the high schoolers and put them on buses, and like, kind of evacuate them. And when they come back, there's nobody in the town. Okay. I'm at the power still on all their phones work. They can text each other. But when they tried to call their parents, they just give voice mail, then a couple of kids decide, they're going to go and see, like try to find people, and they try to get out of the town and the town is completely surrounded by woods like where there's a bridge and a road out of town. There's just a forest popped up. So. So, you know, kind of under the dome vibe, they're completely cut off from the outside world. I feel like there was a there was a show like this. Why feel like there have been a couple of shows, like, yeah, yeah. It's not a super original top. Okay. All right. I think I think, for teenagers it's. I think it's a good show for teenagers. I think it's one of those that kind of makes you think because these kids have to deal with, like their own getting food and their own criminal Justice system. Like huddled gonna charge my phone. Yeah. See they do actually still have. Power, and I don't honestly know what happens in the end of it because I didn't watch the whole thing, but, you know, and that I just have to mention game of thrones. I mean I don't know the, the internet is talked out on this. But I loved the last episode, I didn't love the last season as much as previous seasons but I'm going to say for anyone out there. That's listening and watches it. I know a lot of people hated the last episode. I think I have some pretty strong feelings and arguments about why I liked it and what it meant. And I hope people will maybe read my blog post, the TB traveler dot com because I'm kind of, like I will fight people. I'm kind of passionate about this because I yes I know you are and I I love it. When people feel very strongly about something one way or the other. I mean I didn't watch the show. I'm not in invested in it at all. But I love I just I love seeing people get passionate about it. Yeah. And I feel truly like people some people just didn't get it. You know, if they're just like a hated it like Johnston didn't get what he deserved. Like I I'm just dismissing comments like that. Because if you can't logically reasonably our make your argument about what you think would've been better than I don't I don't wanna hear it. You're whining. That's me typically with everything that I critique if you strongly disagree with me, I'm like, well then you just didn't understand it. That's me. But I wanna know why. Like if someone were to tell me, why. Then. Yeah, but, but then I'm usually like okay, but yeah, you're wrong so pretty much. I'm right. You're wrong. I'm pretty open minded. But I do I do like to have a good discussion. So what you've been watching. So I've actually I think the only TV really that I've been watching. I watched the flash. I watched the season finale of the flash, we actually got to watch it live, which was fun because I used to love to live tweet that show. I remember. And, and I forgot like, oh, yeah, I could actually watch it live because we finally got caught up and we went, oh my gosh. The season finale tonight. So I watched it live. I live tweeted, it was so much fun. The flash fans are just crazy and. I mean, people were like. I am legit crying over here. And I'm like I am legit annoyed because this show is like so stupid. But it's one of those like I can't stop watching it. It's stupid, and you roll your eyes, but, you know, well, I mean how many what seven seasons or something five only by now that's a large amount of time that you've invested in these characters and the show. And, and it was awesome. Like, I think I stopped watching it around season three but, you know, when you're invested in that you do get to that point where you're like, that's kind of high in the Walking Dead. I'm like, you know this objectively this isn't really that great and rare. But there's no way I'm not going to watch right? Yeah. So first season was the best the other four it's been going downhill ever since, but I will I will be back for stayed true. Yes, I will. But the rest of the time, I've been watching movies. So the last time we talked I mentioned that I saw token, the theater, which was the bio pic about JR token from Lord of the rings..

"Whole it basically Gli is kind of like a book end to the battle of dunkirk and told from Winston Churchill's point of view and what he did to basically we save England in the war because they were at risk of losing their entire army and so it was really well well done. It was felt like you were watching. It felt like you're in history class but it was good. It was GONNA okay. I also watched eighth grade which I know you talked about a while ago that movie and it was one of those that if I sat down and said does anyone want to watch this movie it would never get picked in my hand so I just turned it on and if anybody wanted to watch it so my twelve year old ended up watching it with me and I thought this is probably okay and he I was looking at his phone like I'm not GonNa. Watch it but I know he was watching most of it uh-huh which was fine until there was the whole scene about her figuring out. What a blow the job is like? Oh speaking of awkward that whole movie was Awkward and Oh my Gosh. Did she win anything. Because she was amazing she was amazing. I think she's going to have a bright future. I don't know that she went anything. No Oh my God. I don't think that movie got not half the acclaim. It should have it was just A. I think the topic was just a little bit too niche for it to win awards Kalash. I just I felt like I was reliving middle school and I watch so much I know I am. I have a teenage daughter exactly that age when we watched it and she was I mean there were moments. She was crying. She left the movie and she said it was all spot on for everything girl. Her Age feels yes. It was so well done and yet I still feel like you kind of got a happy ending and I really liked it. I thought it was happy as you can be an eighth grade. I know I've got it was really really good and then I actually went to the movies last night and saw a preview of a new bio-pic called token which oh I'm always thought it was pronounced token. This is the the story about the author of Lord of the Rings. Jr are token apparently pronounces it token so oh see now. I have a third pronunciation you thought it was toll. Qui N and its toll keen I think I always pronounced toll key token toll kind okay. I think I have pronounced it tolkien well. They actually make it a point to talk about the pronunciation okay. I haven't done a review yet. I'm going to write a review. It's interesting because this is not the normal type of movie I would review and not the one I'm normally asked to review. I actually asked if I could go and review it and I think there were like some serious hardcore critics there because I heard them coming out giving a little bit of their opinion and and there were like well I mean it kind of glossed over Blah Blah Blah and I said I thought it was a beautiful movie. I loved it so anyway. That's my quick spoiler. I am going to talk talk about it in more detail but I really enjoyed it now. I think I'm GonNa do a Lord of the Rings Marathon this weekend.
