NutraMedix Founder Tim Eaton Describes Exciting New Product GlucoMedix
"You were just talking about, what does it gluco medics? It's a product we've been working on for it's been under development for many years. And it's a combination of cemento and stevia. Stevia. Yes. Stevia has the sweetener. The sweetener, if it's a whole leaf extract, it has blood sugar support properties, cardiovascular support properties. Does not have that. Saccharin sucralose does not have that. I don't think so. Aspartame does not have that. No. So most people think of stevia as a natural sweetener. But a whole leaf extract of that of that leaf can, as I mentioned, have blood sugar support properties, et cetera. So we combine that with cemento and we did some research and our university did some research and what do you mean our university? Your university now. The one you work with. A university in Peru. Actually the top university improved is doing research and publishing the research is called the calle tano university in Liam Peru. And they did several studies comparing glucoma medics for metabolic support, blood sugar, support, cardiovascular support, and it was very comparable to these other remedies that it was compared to. So that has all been that research has been compiled and it's been submitted to a very high level peer reviewed medical journal in Europe for publication. We're waiting to see if that's going to be accepted for publication. But that's really helped a lot of people, gluco medics,

Addicted or Dependent? What Is the Difference?
"Today. I want to talk about clarifying some things. There has been a big discussion of late around kelly. Sober for those of you. Who don't know it means that you might be addicted to alcohol or cocaine or another drug and you decide that you're going to stop using that one drug but you choose to actually continue smoking pot or if you're a pot smoker and you stop smoking pot you choose to continue drinking alcohol you know. I have my opinions about this. But i like to return to more basic stuff if you know me. I'm much more into okay. What are the definitions of certain things. And why are we so frigging confused about them. Is there really a difference between addiction and dependence for instance and what are the differences between like having a habit or miscues zine or me using something for today. I'm going to be drawing from a lot of kind of clinical stuff that i've done research on most predominantly from an article written by jonathan stevia. Who is a registered practicing clinical psychologists and calgary and he also is an adjunct assistant. Professor at the university of calgary this for scientific america. And i think it does such a good job of at least putting down some facts about the differences that there is so much misinformation out there about in regard to the language of addiction. What is a substance. Use disorder versus. Am i just sober curious. Do i really have a problem. All of that stuff on instagram and facebook. That gets me confused. And i'm in the business.
Can Liverpool Snap Their Slump?
"Liverpool coming off a result midweek in the champions league thought when we focus on their league form not so great. They've lost three straight for merely outscored eight to two in those matches. Stevie the league form not good but can we throw it out the window based on what you saw. Mid week. Leipzig to be honest. I'm gonna base on scene from evan. Rather than what. I've seen from liverpool. I think we know liverpool. Golden played good football. Hopefully they're going to create. The question is what we take chances. And kinda and that's been their mantra. I think this is over. Evan up until i go a bed the smaller and looked and looked to see what had been said for months. You'll autobahn and use a kind of changed my opinion because i was very comfortable when i went to bed. Before the fact that culvert loons black. You've got allenbach. You got hamas who. I think we'll play as well. So they've kind of a as well as liverpool getting a little bit of a kick from winning against light shake evans going to get a little spot as well for most three at the same time. I don't think is going to be an awful thing. Liverpool will take it a business. You mentioned what carlo ancelotti said. You're in club downplayed this earlier but the reverse fixture of this is where virgil van. Dyke got hurt. We'll liverpool's players be thinking about that. Is that at all a factor in this absolutely not liverpool of other things to worry about right now with those vendettas. And when you stop doing that that affects your game when you start worrying about getting a kick it somebody or gone around and tried to get one on the that's going to affect you as you said liverpool too many other problems where they can. They can do things so i i don't think will have any whatsoever correct. Speaking those other liverpool problems basically been a coin flip over the last couple of months which liverpool we get and it's not really between good and bad. it's between feast and famine and look. There's a clear fight for the top four here between a few teams what one of which up until a couple of games ago look it might be able to make still be but clearly live for sure. I'm not going to catch. Set has been questioned whether anybody will catch them but settling from where pearl are so. There's a clear fight for the top. Four and i think they'll be buoyed by their performance and mid week but i'm with stevia. Initially islanders probably going combat but he's lacking much shoppers. Rodriguez is a talent. But he's not particularly away from home. A place like lever put and going to get the ball here because everton do that home in a way. They often the lawyers for as what liver poke can do with an ev. You know the such a hard team to read it. Belet lasted in a sense. Have lost some crazy games as she are still up there. Everyone had i think the three games in hand up until a week or ten days ago and then they lost home to fill them the loss home to set these kind of expected. The hong end then brushed aside. But i could see lever. Pull getting a result here purely going to dominate the game. And i think eventually it will break down. Of course they're gonna watch learn these pace and behind running the johnson. That's a weak point for liverpool at the moment. But i just feel with us. Top four limited as real. Fight that lever pill get the job done here and could run together to get themselves in their shock. Everton haven't beaten liverpool since two thousand ten have one at anfield since one thousand nine hundred ninety nine. This feels like as good a chance chances. They're going to get ride. No all records falling as far as liverpool is concerned in particular over recent weeks. That format downfield. Now i'm different from the voice. I'm sitting around the fence but leaning everton. I just feel as good. A result was against rb leipzig. Maybe a little bit expected especially given i felt. I thought i'd be like coming into this. A little bit light up front and maybe not threatening liverpool anywhere near as much as you would thought but with covid louis coming back. In particular that make centre-half paramount liverpool will be relying on on henderson. I just feel about their goals for forever time here and as a see i'm sitting on the inside but leading everton i just don't see a liverpool win.

"The political climate is so volatile now because people were kind of forced to give up sports do the pandemic. Now, those crazy fans were passionate about politics. Just the thought that's from Dave. I guess. I think the arc of interest in politics has certainly ramped up over the last couple decades. In this market and other places. We've we've focused on that we've We've targeted the other side. We We've certainly made it a competition. Instead of Ah, a joint group effort and I think No that allow people thrive on that friction. There's talk shows in this market that that's all they talk about that friction point the hatred of the other side. Look, I know there's a market for that. You know, you could do what you want to do when it comes to your media choices, But frankly, we're seeing the acceleration of this story, which is violence played out like we saw on January 6th. Again Baseline, not a hoax. Supporters of the president, some not all small minority Side of the riot killed a police officer. Let's not forget about that. All that black back to blue stuff doesn't matter much when you kill a police officer, beating him to death and we now have a couple. Other officers have taken the picking their own lives. PTSD or otherwise. So let's not forget about that. It's an interesting point to making. The comparison is one that I'll think about. But boys certainly interesting times in our country when it comes to the passionate few people that take it to the extreme when it comes to politics or sports couple interesting developments. I just I was reading on Twitter. The century. We're gonna host the U. S Senior Open. I lost the data and if it's next year or years down the road, but that's a big announcement. Masking Herbal Tastes
"Is a really strong indication of the medicinal properties of plant but as we know from a physiological perspective certain taste of herbs especially bidders actually tasting that flavor on. Your tongue is a really important attribute for actually the medicinal virtues being conveyed to the body and so a question came up. Recently in regards to someone may be sweetening up and herb tea with some stevia or some honey and if we added a whole bunch of things to an herbal formula that changes its taste. Is that going to change the medicinal impact of that formula. So that is the topic of discussion for this week's post and hopefully you learn something good from it all right question. Number three is coming from lara. And laura's asking if a patient takes a bitter or pungent herbal tea or concoction for a digestive condition but then adds a bunch of stevia to mass that strong bitter or pungent taste ending up with a t that tastes sweet and not bitter or pungent. Well that somehow dilute intended effect or send the wrong signal. To the brain and oregon's will the tongue and digestive tract receptors registered as sweet and thereby weaken the resulting action. Intended with the originally prescribed herb. That's a really good question. Laura yeah that is a really good question so different. Herbalists are probably going to answer this question. Very differently i would. So i'll do my best to show both sides of the equation. Here i would say more of probably an old school traditional herbalist that really sees the importance of the actual taste of the herbs. Conveying the medicinal influence. Yes adding a whole bunch of stevia to a bitter pungent t and making it sweet and no longer bidder is definitely going to take away from some of the medicinal properties. More of a bio chemically oriented. Herbalists is going to say no. The herbs still have all of their biochemical constituents there and regardless of whether they're actually tasting it as bitter or not. You're still going to get the medicinal effect So which one is true. Well i would say a little bit of both right and it's always me right. I'm always like trying to see both sides of the equation. I don't necessarily think either one is necessarily right or wrong You know. I don't think that the herbs are going to like completely be nullified by making an herbal formula taste sweet. I'm not sure it's going to be quite as strong as it would have been if it was at full bitter potency right so i definitely imagined that it will still have a medicinal effect but i don't think it's going to be quite as strong as it would be if it were full strength. Now that being said. I think your question brings up an important consideration here. Though in regards to client compliance. One of the biggest reasons client doesn't take the herbs that you give them is one because it's too complicated right. We give them way too much all at once and they get overwhelmed and then they don't do any of it or to Taste right there. Just like i can't take this just absolutely tastes awful. It's really hard for me to get down. So i would say herbalist will take that into consideration and try to adjust their protocols to make it more suitable for the client and their lifestyle and what they can actually do and tolerate. I think. I don't think it's great for a clinician to be like well tough shit choke it down. I don't care like you need to take this. I don't really think that works so much. Maybe for some people it does but for most probably not so much so this is where when you're administering a formula to a client. It's really important for you to listen to those things

"The substrates for which are probiotic bacteria feed off of and keep them healthy them healthy and Stevia has the same thing that's that's of the benefits of Stevia said, it feeds are probiotics. Yeah. So monk fruit has that in it, and the way it's typically made is is extracted using a water process of filtration, and then some selective concentration of the suite components there you know like I mentioned, they're called Magro sides and there's a number of them and there's one that's called Magro side five, which is the one that's in the highest concentration, and so that seems to be the one that you know in commercial production of monk fruit sweeteners. That's the one they're really interested in, and that's the one that will be in the highest concentration in your extract churches. So here's a question. I. Remember US going through this juncture with Stevia and. The question was well, it's processed to create the the sweetener. However, you know the process is kind of a natural type of process at Berry normal scientific, not super high genetic scientific. Is this the same kind of thing with this? Yeah. Like with Stevia like if you're just going to make an extract with Stevia leaves, you just put them in water and let them steep and then if in what they do commercially as they then pour that water through a filter so that only certain compounds come through the filter. Similar to making coffee. Filter right and only certain things come through at the mainly the flavor components but not the fibers part, right. So with this type of an extraction and filtration, it's the same kind of thing that they do with Stevia leaves and they also do it with the monk fruit as well. So it's less processed. I. Guess. What we would say I find it when we're buying it in an extract form like liquid extract that's the least processed. That, you can buy. Okay Now there are you know other products now I've seen like with the advent of the Kito Genyk Diet, which is very low carb..

Though of course that doesn't mean very much nowadays but premium high-quality ingredients and high in protein sugar, a would not expect that actually when you look at like a package off fruit loops that they can be actual flavors in it. So it's it's quite impressive and you also have an oil plan with within magic spoon riot. Can you talk more about that direct? So he's a blend of. Highly Sunflower oil, and then avocado oil. Basically, you didn't oil to bind the colors in the flavorings to the base of the cereal and we wanted to, of course, was high quality. Fatty Acids rather than just like sure low-quality seed oils and so high elects unclear. Oil pretty different from regular Orlando it fatty acids and those are the same sort of saturated fats that you find extroversion. And of course, avocado oil very healthy as well. Got It and just going back to the sweeteners, and now that in recent years, the had been quite a few studies on a variety of different sweeteners and some of them half a good and some have a negative impact on one's microbiome worried as long fruit steve here on LAS, stand on that. Do you now that? Yeah, they're good impact which is why we chose them. So Chicago halls are generally very good. So bunch of using things like A. Recruits all tell which can have a negative impact on my own, but also caused just looting and general or stomach aches and a pretty large portion of the population. So we want to avoid sugar alcohols for that reason, which right meet means ingredients are more expensive. So obviously, stadium for are more expensive than a lot of the other sweeteners that might still be natural but he come with other issues, and so we wanted to avoid those issues, which is why you chose these three. Got It. So
Masks, Covid & Nutrition Highlights
"Hey thanks for listening I'm your host, Samantha Leigh Right today, we have a slightly different kinds of episode coming your way in light of all of the things happening with covid nineteen. I, wanted to do a special episode highlighting the foundations of Health for you all focused around the corona virus really wanted to cover the topic of mask specifically because there's so many questions that people have centered around mask right now and I know that I, personally have been wanting some clarity around. How mask are effective why are people saying sometimes, they're not and what the debate on both sides, and then also specifically, what else can we be doing in our lives to boost our immune systems protect ourselves from the scary seaward that's going around right now. So today's episode unlike most of our shows don't focus a lot around the topic of central oils but I really wanted the opportunity to talk to Dr Furman whose work I really admire if you're not familiar with his work. I think you're really going to like what he has to say. So we'll get to that interview soon. But first, let's talk about essential oils for a little while I wanted to share my favorite oils from this past week. Am that has been the thieves chest rub? That is a fairly new product coming from young living right now, if you haven't experienced it yet, it is a chest rub formula that comes in this great little squeeze bottle where you don't have to get your hands all greasy to apply it, which is one of my favorite things about it. So if you WANNA check it out or if you want to try to make your own version of it, you could. Buy One of those empties kind of squirt bottles from Amazon or wherever, or just use like an old squirt bottle. You've got lying around anything that will allow you to fill your own formula of stuff and then squeeze a little bit of the top will do and it is a combination of eucalyptus essential oil menthol and camphor. As you might be able to hear, I've got a little bit of flim stuck down in my chest and I've been putting the thieves chester up on at night especially at night. When you lay down, you've got that extra kind of weight of gravity and that's when when the cough likes to come out. So putting the chest rub on is so soothing. It smells so good. Now, if you WANNA make your own kind of chest rub concoction than I would use a base of coconut oil and maybe even some CA- cow butter or and or beeswax shaving shaven down because what you want is a real thick carrier oil base for this because you don't want the oil soak into your chest and your skin too. Quickly, you wanted to act as sort of an on going vapor that's going to be releasing from that chest rub so you WANNA thick carrier oil base again, beeswax is great for that. If you have some of that, you can shave it down and melted a bit and then from there do a real strong concoction if. You're making a small batch may be twenty to thirty drops of an essential oil nice and strong of mainly Eucalyptus. That's the Go-to for all things respiratory. So whatever eucalyptus oils you have around or blends of our great. If you want to add some other things in there to support your immune system, I would throw in some peppermint open up those nasal passageways maybe nice. Irby oil like Rosemary or time or Oregano. T tree is Great Franken Census Grey also any of those oils you have thrown into that nice thick carrier oil use it as a gesture of as needed or check out the thieves chest rub is easy to apply real strong, real potent, and give it five stars. And now, I'm super excited to share this week's DIY dugout recipe. It comes from Deborah Shannon in Atkins Arkansas and it is a recipe for a citrus phys the sounds. So delicious in glass combined the following ingredients and mix thoroughly half a can to one can of sparkling water one packet of Stevia, two drops, grapefruit essential oil, and then optional if you have any inning sherrod around at one to two ounces of Nick. Sharad. If you don't have Ningxia ride, which is a great will ferry puree juice that young living makes you can add in maybe another dark red kind of juice like Cherry juice pomegranate or something, and then ice. So just combine all that and you've got yourself a citrus phys.
The Amazon Haul
"Okay, don't shoot the Messenger on this one. Has just come out with Turkey dinner candy corn. So it's slipped candy corn, the normal candy corn that we know. It's a mixed bag with six different flavors. So the flavors are Turkey Green Bean, stuffing cranberry, sauce, ginger, glazed carrots, and sweet potato pie. They've been spotted at walgreens and as weird as they sound try them. All right. Well, Brock's is like the candy my grandmother used to eat. So I'm used to that company they I think they're kind of like biting into a Jones Soda did with their remember they made those specialty they probably still do they make their thanksgiving. Soda. This sounds weird. I do WANNA try every single one of these flavors I know they're all going to be disgusting. Well, I would totally try them me too I. Think the cranberry sauce, the ginger glazed carrots, and the sweet potato pie could be Yummy Greens and stuffing green beans candy corn the wonder if they're going to be sweet, we'll have to we have to get our hands on a bag of maybe say something nice about them. They'll send them to. We Love Brock's and did that in the breaking rocks. If we If we have like a bunch of the green beans does that count as a vegetable? Absolutely, and carrots. Kinda like Jelly belly does this to with like they have like buttered popcorn they have some savory on flavors. So weird but a good novelty thing to bring to someone's house and try. E for effort. Okay. So it looks like Uber is getting into the grocery delivery service business. It's already started in a few cities and should be rolling out throughout the rest of the country in a few months and it's available through your Uber App sued us open up the APP and the groceries available. You can order groceries through Uber I. Love that because Insta- card has become my life and I, love grocery delivery more than anything and I will try Uber Uber User. So I've tried Uber eats and that's great. The more people that want to bring me groceries without having me leave the house. The better told her wonderful lift is gonNA. Follow. Suit. Probably. Probably I cannot wait honestly do you guys use the grocery delivery services exclusively? Yeah. Amazon fresh and INSTA- cart like three or four times a week. Amazing and I've been ordering for my mom too which is a whole other story that I will probably get into later. Okay. We should get I think I actually had this idea. I want to start sending certain things to my mom with her INSTA- card orders and having her review them on the podcast I. Think it would be funny. The best thing I've ever heard. MAZING. All right. We might do that flew choose. All right. We're about to jump in to these products that have been delivered. Some of them seem weird. There's only one product I think out of all of these products that actually or maybe two that I've heard of that look familiar and I've only tried one so I cannot wait this first product is something that is totally new to me. I've heard of p being me but this is pbs me powder chocolate hazelnut spread. So I was envisioning it to be a little bit like powdered new tele kind of right like a powdered peanut butter and you tell, yeah, it's. Exactly. It's like powder peanut butter, but it's powdered hazelnut instead and then it's yeah. Two tablespoons, fifty calories to grams of fat. So the stats are amazing. Four grams of protein. I. Don't know Jimmy, you probably know this mark. It's one smart point. Amazing. Okay. So I have mixed it up with some waterman about to try it. It looks like new Tele Ish. Okay. I'm not a hazelnut fan and I really like that It's nutty. It's I've tried like almond powdered almond butter and I did not like it at all. The Hazelnut is better I have to say, I made a second version and I added cocoa. Like amp up the chocolate flavor I was gonNA, say. Yours. Looks so dark. It's really good. I added like, did you add Dr Cocoa I added my. Gear Deli Coco, which I think is dark, but it's like majestic and then I added a little more sweetener to it because I really wanted to amp it up and it's great. I'm just going to sit here and eat the whole bowl. This looks like Mustang. The consistency of years now it's Yummy wally is sitting here like dying to I. Not Allowed. I like a lot. I'm GonNa put it on Yogurt. It's really good. It's like if you like hazelnut, this would be a great dip like you could even add chocolate little mini chocolate chips to it, and and like dip little cookies in it. I'm impressed with it. You could make a dip like we sometimes do with Like light whipped topping stirred into a tub. I think if you're a hazelnut fan, you will love this. Do you think it tastes like New Tyler? I don't have like a strong. Taste memory of new tele. I think because I'm not really a huge fan. I think you tell is really way more wretched. A A. Watered down version of new tele when you add the cocoa to it, yeah. No Pun intended with water down when you add the cocoa to it, it definitely helps and you only need a tiny bit of water. So just to remind people with this is it's like a powder and then you add a little water and you mix it up and it becomes the texture of. Peanut butter spread Gu I. Bet it would be good and smoothies to great. It would be great. Cool. The next item we have is also it's yet another nut butter powder but this is a more traditional peanut butter powder by La Canto and Jamie you know more than I do but Canto they make a lot of the they're like a monk fruit sweetener company that makes A ton of different sweetener options that are really good I think. Yeah and monk fruit. If anybody doesn't know it's like the new Stevia. It's like a natural zero calorie or low calorie sweetener and made by Tony, Shalhoub, character monk. Mike he had a safe. He just no, but it's okay. You can make all the peanut butter jokes you want my. You have a free pass you're allowed. So this is just do they usually make products. Are they mostly sweetener based the things that I'm familiar with are mostly sweetener based they might have some other. We'll have to look. Okay. So we'll look we'll look at that Lepanto. They're a trusted company I. Love the fact that this is like a pouch of powdered peanut butter. The stats are very good. It's like some powder peanut butter. The stats are a little higher I don't know why or how that would be because basically, they're just the same thing but fifty calories, two tablespoons and it has monk fruit. So it's not gonNA be unsweetened like some of the powder peanut butters right but no sugar added
"stevia" Discussed on NewsRadio KFBK
"Do you recommend that versus sugar? So stevia. Yes. Oh, stevia can be beneficial in some way at small doses. That's another thing That's important as well. All of these things can have does dependency. You can certainly use too much stevia, and it can cause you no less of a beneficial and negative effects in the system and wooden stevia. There's a couple of different isolates. So there's glycogen sides from stevia. And then there's something called Reb A R E B. A What the studies on the microbiota has found is that the Reb a isolate from the stevia leaf can actually have beneficial changes on the microbiome. You know, similar to other what we call nutritive sweeteners, which are things like zyla tall and man, a tall, which kind of actors probiotics but also have the sweet perception. So I would say the reb. A portion of stevia would be better than consuming sugar in general. Depending on the volume. It's a small amount of Stevie is better than consuming a larger amount of sugar. And that Reb a portion if it's done in a small amount, especially in combination with something like a monk Fruit, which improves the overall taste profile of stevia where you don't have to use as much. Can can be, You know, non destructive to the system. That's interesting. I I had no idea about that. That's that's good. Yeah, you know, look for products that will have stevia with the red. A. Often, it'll say on the label that it's a reb a leaf extract. On Dennis. They're combining it with Monk Fruit. That's a good bet. That's a good option because in the work we've done on flavor profile and you find that you can go way lower on your stevia amount if you combine it with the sweet profile of month. Thank you for that tip. If you stop drinking sweeteners will a probiotic how relieve any damage has been done to the Microbiome. Absolutely, And that's a good thing about the Microbiome does always room to fix it, You know is an ecological problem, right? We've got an imbalance that's created by the artificial sweeteners. Andi imbalance can always be fixed, and that's a positive thing. And in fact, you know some of the sugar alcohols or some of the nutritive sweeteners, the silent halls and all that can also be beneficial. There's some people that don't tolerate them. Well, there's some people that We'll get some gas, bloating and discomfort in the gut. But there are others that Khun tolerated perfectly well and they can act as probiotics. So you do have options there. If you need a sweet perception, you do have a couple options that are Not harmful to the system. It sounds like this would also be a good place to have probiotics be involved in keeping your gut microbiome healthy. That's exactly right. So when you look at the studies on the type of organisms that the artificial sweeteners tend to suppress, and and the types of organisms that the pre biotics tend to increase, there were exactly the opposite. Right Are they have the exactly the opposite effect on the Microbiome? So the good bacteria that a suppressed by the sweeteners Are actually increased in growth by prebiotic so one way of actually overcoming any sweetener based damages to utilize a good prebiotic. My favorites are illegal, Sack writes. I think there's a precision prebiotic that I try to make a habit of taking every day. So we want the neighborhood to be is good as possible down there, right? No, I think that they just drive prebiotic eyes. Great. Put it in with my morning shake. Well, thanks cure, and we've been speaking with Karen Christian chief Science officer for just thrive, probiotics. About how to protect our gut microbiome from the toxic effects of artificial sweeteners. You can find out more about the spore based probiotics and the precision..
What's Up with Monk Fruit and the Whole Food Sweetener Trend?
"This week we're talking about a whole foods sweeteners. This is a term that spends circulating lately. So we'll talk about what a whole foods sweetener is and Wyatt might or might not be a better choice but I I wanted to share a quick question and answer from a listener Michel wrote. I've heard that plant based BIDMAN's absorb better than synthetic ones is this actually true or not? In fact it is not always true. Some synthetic vitamins are molecular dental to the ones found in plants and they'd be absorbed exactly the same way. folic acid is a synthetic form of the vitamin foliage and it's actually much better absorbed than the full late found in plants or in plant based vitamins. Some nutrients such as B twelve are not ever found in plants, and so for these nutrients, you'd have to rely either honest synthetic form or an animal source. Calcium is a nutrient that's found in both plant and animal foods, and in this case, the calcium in milk is actually much better absorbed than the calcium in spinach. So you see it's impossible to say that a plant based vitamin is always going to be better absorbed. Now I, think it's always preferable to get our nutrients from foods rather than supplements because they often come with a lot of other complimentary nutrients that may help your body absorb or assimilate them. But if you are relying on a supplement to fill the gap, a plant based supplement isn't necessarily going to be more beneficial. Thanks for that question media and now let's dig into today's topic. According to a recent issue of the exploding topics newsletter which was forwarded to me by a listener. wholefood sweetener is a hugely trending topic right now as the editors put it health conscious consumers want to sweeten their food with substances that are natural and whole food. They go on to explain that whole food sweeteners include things like maple, Syrup, sweet potato, puree, as well as plant based non-caloric sweeteners made from Stevia and monk fruit. The Concept of whole foods sweetener seems to be based on the notion that we are better off eating whole and minimally processed foods, and that's something I can certainly get behind as general rule. Whole foods tend to be more nutrient, dense and less energy dense than more highly processed foods. For example, a baked potato contains more nutrients and fewer calories than a bag of potato chips. Prioritizing whole foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, leg ooms, nuts meat, and fish is a great way to improve the nutritional quality of your diet and I generally expand this category to also include minimally processed foods like you're canned beans or tomatoes olive oil soya sauce peanut butter, soy milk, tofu bread, and Pasta. Technically, these are all processed foods and so our pasteurized milk filtered honey frozen strawberries, and basically any vegetable that's had the dirt washed off of it. In truth most of the food we come into contact with lie somewhere on a processing spectrum ranging from just plucked off the tree to I can't even tell what food this used to be. Although I think it's unrealistic and. To completely avoid all processed foods choosing foods that are closer to the unprocessed end of that spectrum is a great idea.

One substitute that I do like is Stevia. So you can trivia okay, and they have a balloon and have a couple of different things products. Some are like a sugar and Stevia combination. So you get some real sugar and Stevia mixed together. It's not all like the artificial, and you still get a natural taste of sugar. And then they have just the regular via. Arsenal Crash Out of Europa League
"Kick things off in the League also against Olympiakos. What a dramatic ending to the game but also without one win in Greece. They didn't they make it through. However Olympia with council out in the second half of this game. See say with the go after avenue for what that would take us into extra-time a brilliant goal from Obama fantastic scissor-kick would make one one on the night two one on aggregate. That would be enough but then arriving in the last minute of extra time would score. That would see Olympia Costco through on the away. Goals robot away the late John Through family. And who you put your house on scoring. How did he puts it wide. Also out of the euro per league. We'll talk to the boys in the studio. And let's stop. Shall we Juliana wrong? Jules we know a big heart piece. Your heart isn't ps some of reserved for arsenal gutted. I think it's a tough nut to take forward the the author funds the of the way happened. Obviously with the the late Gore fall got goose and die by Obama young in the last minute of added time of extra time but also let's be honest. It was a poor performance. I think the attitude was no rights. They looked to be complacent. That no Sean Tiger. For the first one seventy five minutes of that game so in the end is the harsh defeat any Sahara eliminatation but also on the night tonight. There was just off the game too much. Who Do you blame more Stevia Pammy late missile David Lewis and he's defending? I think I think at the end of the day we'll mistakes as players and the players led from the mistakes and what dovid Louise didn't do. He didn't learn from his mistake with the first goal. Because you're in zone regardless of the opposition when the ball comes in your area you have to attack the ball. He didn't do it and didn't learn because the bulls flung again at the end of the game and he didn't attack it so at at an absolutely avid louise. It's an ongoing issue. Without defendants said pieces is a problem area for them and Wyoming end score is a great goal and even after all the struggles that you've had in this game he's gray goal and now you're through. All you have to see is the last two minutes of the match. And then that's it you're going to the next round. It wasn't pretty. It was it was. It must have been learning experience for us. And that's the way that I would have spun this whole story. But you're not able to defend properly said peace and then see you guys later take. Here's the other thing. I was here about Arsenal for whatever reason they thought that after winning the first game the first late one nothing that it was it was all done. That's the way they approach is game as if they had already advanced. The truth of the matter is that where arsenal is right now. They're not good enough to be complacent they're not good enough to like energy. They're not good enough to just be a team that is going to show up and you'll say now we just going to play around on. We'll see our way through to the next round. They're not good enough to be doing that. The players know that but the problem is that they cannot find any sort of consistency with their level of play. One day they look good the next day. They don't look so good one they look okay then the next day. Look what the one thing that they've been consistent about is poor defending set pieces Steve. I'll tell ya after the game. Lambasting his defense four goals conceded in last two matches from set pieces. Surely this is something you can work on in the training ground isn't it? I know that we talked about the personnel. The arsenal have and. It's not good enough but surely this is something you can actually physically help with. On a day to day train. You can work on the train and field all day every day seven days a week but if you have players who don't get it and they'll tell you they get but then they step on the field and continue to make the same mistakes and that's exactly what are still have been doing for the last two or three seasons defensively so the comes at time and I've been seeing all year long. The comes a time when it's not about the tactics or the coach. A suburb and Avid Louise. In particular has shown time and time again. He's making mistakes as a set of bike and it's cost and his team and until there's a change until Louise's moved that position and a better players and as you asked me you can walk all day long on an Infield but if you've got players who can't do the job isn't changing Joe's big picture. How big is this defeat for our so considering you up an argument was a great chance to qualify for the Champions League? Yes huge blow. Because of that obviously because that was maybe the easiest way because they can still finish fifth save city are buying for next. Season's Champions League they only four points behind but you would fancy that competition. So that's used blows so she's reforming ties went because he's a proper step back of why you've been trying to do and the resort. That been okay since he took over. There's been some improvement on the on. The field on the field going forward especially attacking wise defensively still issues and he has an address them well enough at the moment and avenue for him. It will be a setback and I think this issue tonight. Psychologically they go again on Monday night in the ETHICA. That's a hell of a tricky game away from home against a team that would have nothing to lose in a cup game in a hosted environments against the team that is playing really well in the lower leagues but also a team that would love that kept Gammon love trying to put more pressure on us on especially after tonight so the next few games will be very important for the where artists are trying to get his plays back on track for Monday. Night's

"stevia" Discussed on Diet Science
"So d- what a topic for this week this week. I'm going to be talking about a quote unquote, new type of stevia. Oh, interesting product that's out there now. Okay. Yeah. So I got an an Email question from one of my students, and she asked she said, what is this thing called rib em? And she said, I'm looking for a you know, a low sugar yogurt and I noticed that it was in, in the yogurt sweetener and spell it for me are e or, and then the letter capital letter M. Like mary. Okay. Rab 'em. And so. People may be familiar with something called rib a K, which is basically has been sort of the, the particular aspect of stevia leaf that has been used for making using and food products in, in the stevia plant there. And by the way, Stevie and herb that has a lot of sweet compounds in at called glycogen sides. And there are a number of glencoe sides, something like twenty different Gleich, oh, sides that are in the stevia leaf, and it's a very complex combination of these compounds. But what it does is it allows stevia leaf to have a sweet taste. That's probably about two hundred times sweeter than sugar from just very tiny amount of the leaf. So what, you know, in the old days and when I say old days talking about like the late nineteen eighties early nineteen nineties, when stevia was I. Available for purchase and health food stores as liquid extract, and people were using it to sweetened things like their tea and coffee, and using recipes, there was a, you know, one of the main complaints about that form of stevia was that it had a bitter aftertaste to it. And so as a result, you know, the companies that produce this stevia extract, have worked over the years to try to filter out the compounds that have the bidder that keep the ones that are still really sweet than the Aten is so that they. Yeah. Exactly. So in two thousand eight Cargill which is basically a big food company. That's basically Coca-Cola's owned by them, and they own all sorts of other ones. They figured out a way to isolate out just one compound in the stevia leaf called, you know, the one that was called Ribaud Ribaud side, a or grab a for short. So, and they've lettered. Than the all the, the different sweet compounds of letters. And so they're called Ribaud DO side, a rodeo side, you know, d- rodeo side 'em. So, so rodeo side, a has been the one that has been used in a lot of products like trivia pure via some, some of the other products that you can buy now as, as quote, unquote, stevia, but in reality, it's, it's a very processed form of, of stevia, because it really is just the extract of the one sweet compound out of his whole. Yeah. And they blend it with some other things. Sometimes they even blended with dextrose, which is just basically just sugar. Right. So, so now what is happening is apparently, rob a also has an after taste that consumers, don't like so these companies have been working feverishly to find another compound within the stevia leaf that. Taste more like sugar without an after taste and they believed to have found one called red 'em. Okay. Okay. And so, but unfortunately read 'em is not in high concentration in the stevia leaf it's not nowhere near as high concentration as rebbe is so probably a little more expensive to get it. Exactly. And it's kind of cost prohibitive to grow a bunch of stevia, and then try to, you know, extract out just the rhythm. It's not very cost effective for the companies. So now what? So what they're doing is from what I'm reading from articles is that they are developing proprietary strain of the stevia plant that has a higher concentration of the rebel. Okay. So it's almost kind of like a hybridization of some kind. I don't know because I didn't read it, but my mind kind of went into there's probably some genetic modification that has gone on here. I don't know. No. But so there they created a version of it that has higher rhythm in it. So they can get a higher yield of it. But they're all they've also figured out a way to be able to make rib 'em. Not even from the stevia plant from from fermentation of yeast. Really? Yeah. It's really interesting housing, Steve, now we have. Yeah, exactly. And they're calling it rhythm is it's because somehow they, I think what they do is they for meant just like a tiny, maybe like a tiny amount of the, the, the stevia, and then, let it for men into something that's a higher concentration of that. And so that's how they're gonna get their big yield on profit from because they don't need to use the plant much of the plant itself. So what it kinda smacks of to me is an basically a manipulation, again, of stevia plant. It's really not stevia and this. Point. It's, it's a patented process that they've come up with using enzymes, and, and they do your sugar in this for mendacious process, which most of the time you have to use some kind of sugar to ferment something you do because the, the bacteria feed up on the sugars so but then they add, you know, they add in this other element to it that produces a high yield of this RAB 'em. So there are, there's a couple of believe there's a product out there that is now being sold in in packets. That is basically, you know, it's called Avantis rhythm, and they're calling these now non artificial sweeteners as opposed to a natural sweetener. So there's a difference between a natural sweetener an artificial one right now, this one's called non artificial, which is sort of in between the two in interesting new terminology. So it's showing. Up and things like yogurt, some beverages. Some baked goods typically along with some other sweeteners still doesn't seem to be enough on its own to give something the sweet taste that consumers like so they always blend it with something else. So it's just a new iteration of what rebbe was. I, I wrote about rebbe in the scientists Guinea because at that time, rebbe was the big deal. And, and so, but now there's this rib 'em. And I don't know. I'm I'm not really a fan of this kind of manipulation to a plant, and then selling it as a what people are considering to be something natural which really it isn't right? Natch. So obviously, we will not have linked to this. No. I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I'm not advocating use of it, but I'm still advocating use of a pure stevia extract. Okay. That the, the, the better extracts that are out there now they filter out the. You know, the, the most bitter tasting compounds out of them, and they do have a sweet taste to them. So we like, the, the one the clear liquid type. They don't have any additives. They're they're extracted in water only, and, and that's you know, I feel like that's probably as pure as you could get unless you steep your own stevia leaves extract it yourself. And you can't really filter out bitter compounds on your own because you, it's a special kind of filter paper that, that is developed, specifically for that filter paper has pores that are small enough for the sweet compounds to come through, but not, but, you know, the bigger bitter compounds can't come through the filter. So that's how these stevia companies do that. And they also don't filter through the chlorophyll, which is the green color from the plant, so chlorophyll big molecule in in relation okay. So when they filter when they take the stevia leaves in the steep them in coach. Water, and they basically extract all the compounds out of the stevia leaves, and then they filter that water through a filter paper, and then that's how they get the Stevie liquid extracts that remove out the, the green color and they remove out the bitter flavors. But it's just a pure filtration type of thing. It's not. Exactly. Yeah. Okay. Whereas this other thing is sounds fairly manipulated in s- you know, there's it's a patented process. That's how these companies make money. They do something that they can patent and put put a, you know, basically, they lay their claim on it. And the no one else can make it so. Yup. Absolutely. So, so we'll have a link to the Stevie that we recommend. Yes, we'll do that great..

"And plus I'm hanging out with this girl up this week up there and a bunch of friends. So I'd be like, I'm sorry. This is this might be my this might be it for me like stevia. Stevia? Hey grads on the sex, right? But I think what's it called. So how how are you doing with his international break? Have you been enjoying have? You watched any games? Not really, it's it's hard to watch international games. At least in America. It's not the easiest thing in the world of duly offered. Me, you know, because sometimes NBC has like, you know, they have a lot of primarily games on NBC and stuff, but irrational games. It's hard. I want try lights itself. But I live in watching a lot of college basketball. So luckily, luckily is international break falls perfectly in between March madness police like the first couple of days so held out. I have a question for you, though. Do you think arsenal will make it into the top four with Hannah Chelsea Chelsea being really poor towards the back into the season in the United has been really on form. And I have really been on that great form recently either. Do you think you guys can might be able to pick it up and sneak Champions League spot? I my only hope that arsenal makes the top four. Is if Tottenham keeps bottling it that is my only hope because if tonic he's being taught him. Yeah. Yes. Which you know, it's been known to happen can happen. Yeah. And and United to they've kind of did a little bit in easily. You know, they exploded beat PS. Gee, I watched that game was incredible. I'm never gonna create that. Oh my God. And now, it's kinda you know, now that seems it seems like the high is dumb down a little bit. They're going back to, you know, not like supernova level. So I think it would be obviously, the Champions League money would be really good for you guys as well. Not be able to. Will release out release reportedly Nabi signing players. Did you guys need some defenders pretty badly? Pretty that's that's the you know, definitely on the buying list. Yeah. If STAN Kroenke does anything, right? He will get you defend her and not be. I was just gonna say the guy's just to focus with this guy. Damn LA Rams already signing tons of players. So we'll see they signed a boat. Blake Bortles they did. And also this name the guy from the Packers longhair. What's his name? Oh clay Matthews now, they sent him to God damn they're going to be like just celebrity Dow, but I think if Tana keeps 'cause I think United did take a step back. But I don't think like people were freaking out about it. They have backed back losses. I think United still fine. I really think it's gonna come down. If Tottenham keeps up their poor form. I really think it's going to be Tottenham United in the final top four. And there's an arsenal. Just trying to be honest like because I'm just like like, I think we can in other weeks. I'm like now, there's no fucking way. Yeah. But I think you say say Chelsea done. They fin crappo Danny money. They they'd over. I'm I I know you talked to Brandon I think he's the Chelsea fan or Brian. And that was probably a fun conversation. Dislike man, this is really shit because it's funny like Chelsea were really really good. I think they're undefeated like I twelve games than people realize that hey, we should kind of stick. Somebody on Georgina Lola time and everything just went to shit after. Equate these five yard passes aren't working is. I is I here..
