"03 on the fan Evan Roberts Till two O'clock JR Jr Sport brief Coming up two o'clock this afternoon. Taking your phone calls on a day in which we can actually react to some baseball. We've got a busy day of baseball today with the Mets and Braves at four in the Yankees and nationals at seven o'clock, I would assume That outside Of D. J. Lo Mayhew and maybe Mike Ford. I guess Aaron Boone. I'll give you a very similar line up for Game two. Because the Yankees have had a lot of time. Nobody needs an off day. They only played five innings on Thursday night. They didn't play it all on Friday. They got most of Saturday off, so they've got a lot of time in the District of Columbia. I wonder. About Ford. Because Luke void and Mike Ford Are two guys that you think Aaron Boone is going to intermingle a little bit, and it's not going to be a straight lefty righty platoon. But you don't figure Mike Ford's going to start against lefties. There is a lefty on the mound tomorrow with Patrick Corbin on the mound. Stephen Strasburg. Is on the mound today. So I wonder if this is the day or hour and Boone will try to get Mike Ford at bats, because if you listen a Aaron yesterday, and he's really good to talk to, because he's very honest with a lot of his answers. He put over Mike Ford in a huge way about how good he thinks he is, and the opportunity he would get if he was on any other team. I mean, Yankees are insanely deep, so you've got Basically a starting lineup of bench players. Me think about that. You can build a Pretty decent starting lineup with guys who don't play every day. You think about that match it up against the Orioles. You could have Miguel and hard play left field. You could have Clint Frazier, playwright. You could have my talking place on her. You could have Mike Ford play first. You could have Tyler. Wait, Who's batting 1000 place? Second, You could have tyros plays shortstop. If you want to go into the minor leagues, or at least that second sight that they have you could have. Matt Duffy play third. Chris Iannetta catch. I mean, that's not the greatest, but still he's a major leaguer. And those are all guys that don't play every day. But you know what's going to be fun about tonight's game. One of the things that's been lost in interleague play is that when interleague play first started back in 1997 and for the first few years there was a newness to the matchups. I'm not just talking about the team's. I'm talking about the players that even with you know, players jumping around the league, you see matchups that you've never seen before. Tonight is very unique in that even though Stephen Strasburg has been around for a while. Even though James Paxton has been around for a while, Both guys were in their thirties. Both guys were pretty established. Obviously, Strasbourg more so How many times Stephen Strasburg is faced the New York Yankees in his major league career. The answer to that question is zero. He's never faced the Yankees. Jam any times James packs in his face the Washington nationals in his career. I mean spoiler alert. The answer is zero. Now, Okay, you're counter could be and it's a fair counter. But wait a second guys bounce around the league a lot, So I'm sure there are guys on the Yankees that have seen Stephen Strasburg. And the answer is Yeah, really there. Two guys that have seen Stephen Strasburg. These two guys. Giancarlo, which is obvious with all the time he spent the National League East. He's got a lot of at bats against Strasburg decent numbers. The other guy's deejay. LeMay, you again makes sense a lot of time with Rocky's. That's pretty much it cross eyed and has seen him a little bit, But he's not going to play and Mike talk man has one career at bad against them. So it's not just that Strasbourg has never faced the Yankees. He's really never faced the Yankees. I mean, the main Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge Glaber Tourist Brett Gardner. You think about that gardener in Strasbourg, both in the majors for a very long time, never faced each other. Blue boy. Gary Sanchez, your Shelagh never faced him. And it's similar on the other end. When you look at the nationals they have faced James Paxton Emilio Bonifacio bench player has faced James Paxton. Uh, Kurt Suzuki has faced him. Howie Kendrick. Howie Kendrick has faced everybody. You know he's and he's an underrated player. I mean, think about what he did for the nationals last year during the postseason, and Adam Eaton has a few at bats against him. That's it. So, but I do find kind of cool about tonight's matchup. Not only is it a really appealing pitching matchup between Paxson and Strasbourg and its Yankees nationals But a lot of unfamiliarity when you look at this matchup between the two teams. A lot of and that's not that common anymore. When I'm describing right now is not that common. No With guys bouncing around the league. You usually don't see that kind of Secrecy or not seeing guys that often and you will see that tonight the other thing to keep an eye on and I guess you'll be able to get a sneak peek of it in about an hour, so we'll have a sneak peek of it while still on the air is that Fox is airing a triple header today They're airing three consecutive games in a row. They were all on the big Fox network. Why not? Take advantage of the fact that, at least on opening night, the eyeballs were very much tuned. In for baseball. They had huge ratings for the first night of Yankees, nationals and Dodgers giants. And I guess the expectation is why wouldn't remain the same. So they've got the Brewers against the Cubs coming up at one o'clock. They've got what they got. Four o'clock Oh, Dodgers Giants again because we all need to see the Giants incompetence again. Who doesn't want to see more of that? They have an incompetent manager, and they've got just awful roster. But whatever it's the Dodgers, and then obviously the nightcap is the main event. The Yankees against the Nationals, all on Fox. And they're going to do this whole virtual fan thing..

"The Yankees tried to be they were cutting edge with that they were one of the one of the first things to really stack that bull pen with a bunch of clothes is you know to have three or four closer ties to that open now you see the worth of the Gerrit Cole you see the worth of a Stephen Strasburg and you see these guys are going to be able to take the ball and takes longer in two games for you so I I think we might see a little bit more of an emphasis on that personally I I'd like to see that because I think that's a big part about baseball people like to watch those marquee match ups no they like to see the cold verse to ground gains the subway series they like to see those big names it's always been about that and I know what the analytics and we've got in this value of course in playing that match up and having a great old pen and using as many really was as possible but again for the sport and you want to see the attention on the sport you want the you know the people start liking those marquee match ups again that's what I'd like to see it come back to a little bit yeah and and you you and I would agree I'm sure that the divergence between regular season baseball in post season baseball has never been greater really and and the way you can play in the in the regular season with that mix and match works fine Tampa's done great with it obviously the Yankees one hundred games two years are over that but then you get to the post season and maybe your thoughts are much more along the lines of what you just mentioned where you'd much rather get seven to eight innings out of your starter you don't want to have to mix and match in and do it again the next night in and do it again the next night against the same team by the way it it definitely is a a big divergence now in today's baseball between how you play the regular year and how you play the post season yeah I mean when you when you go into the playoffs crescent and like you touched on was yeah if you want to keep using relievers like that one you raise a great point where in those papers here you see the same guys over and over again you know that familiarity becomes a problem in two we use all those pictures in the same game like that it's a lot of moving parts yeah it becomes it becomes in all its thing at that point if one of those guys doesn't have a one night then he's a weak link in the chain and the chain break so loosely seen it happen a lot as good as those relievers are during the regular season and there's a lock down if they can be you know October they can cause you problems I think the Yankees you've seen a little bit of that you know the office is kind of a quiet in October which is hurt them but yeah I I think we have a lot of those moving pieces all it takes is one four four eight one to break and then the game goes down hill yeah because a lot of more one get one run games one you know right one Adam Levine pitch in the wrong spot and you don't have enough offense to come back for the beach you're a little bit with their guy so it it's definitely fascinating overall as we said pretty good all season in baseball I think that there's you know a good vibe around the game right now for the most part how it what are you hearing or or where do you expect the Astros thing to go in terms of timing what's your gas water the other guys saying what do you what do you believe about the Astros and the way the jurisprudence will play out I think it was fascinated Christy here at manta for talk about it that the winter meetings when he came out and said that they were going through seventy five thousand emails and I mean that the sheer volume of things they were doing here and of course they want that to be out there because they want to show how they're doing their due diligence to get through this and to make sure you know the dotting the I's and crossing the T.'s in this investigation so they want to be as thorough as possible I expecting to come down extremely hard on the Astros no we have to be talking about draft punishment certainly suspensions whether it's to to both change and women know which wouldn't be surprising it would surprise me however Chris to see guys like core Intel trance to spend it I need to see and they'll be taken the extraordinary step of axes suspending other teams managers yeah for infractions they made with the Astros I'm not saying it's off the table but that would really surprise me if if that entered into the equation yeah trying to figure out where they'll draw the line is where the the real drama and intrigue is as as to where the line is drawn and you know because no one cares how much they get fined and and bright you want I think yes draft picks are huge for teens now yes you know that their their franchise differences and that really hurts them and the suspensions as well I mean he just is a very good manager obviously are significant suspensions to hand in Louisville to sell it's going to be interesting to see you know powerhouse franchise like the Astros to see where this leads them and to see the competition for the Yankees almost kind of fall by the wayside this year you know with the red Sox not you know talking about cutting payroll the Astros facing stiff penalties you know not only of the Yankees geared up for a huge year financially adding Cole here you know some of the biggest opponents in Arkansas are gonna be up to snuff made what do you expect to happen with the Frasier and talk men and some of the key fringe players a day in all the the the perfect problem to have for a team you don't wanna lose them because you really respect them but you don't have enough opportunity to play them what would expect will happen I mean it it it's clear how much that the Yankees front office like talk man obviously I mean even when he was struggling when he first came over they stuck with him and turned into a pretty good player idea that she is a big contributor based on the injuries they had to their field so yeah I mean I think he's going to be a valuable piece for them is far as fitting on the roster Fraser is a guy I mean I it's surprising unity still on the team now you know it's part of the organization I would have thought they would've found a deal for him that they would have like and it's his struggles of gone on to be he becomes harder to trade so I just don't obviously I have not been it not alone in saying this were hardly breaking news but it's really hard to see him with any type of extended future with your organization just the way it's gone for him since he's been there things can change obviously but I do I expect and like I have been in like many people have for him to be put in some kind of deal for a need just hasn't happened yet couple quick words on don Smith and Jay Dee Davis forty expect their futures yeah Tom Smith is another guy that I expected the Mets to put in a a trade by now I wish he'd become a fan favorite you know that the Mets are cognizant of having a valuable chip on their team in there you know I think they can be in in Brody's case who hasn't been a GM for a long time you get nervous about making the right trade but somebody like that you worried about is you need to trade don Smith is almost the something happened Alonso right and then you're already regretting not having him around so dumb really just doesn't kind of fit on this team you no longer with the guy that plays every game obviously but as far as the outfield goes you know I think that's a spot for Katie Davis I mean I I I really think is not is not good defensively at third and I think left field is kind of a spot for him I think McNeil becomes your third baseman and and the way they're currently aligned and movie that's listed as with them what what happens with them another got it's very difficult to train especially for a first yeah I'm coming in and it was under a mandate to get rid of money look it's gonna make probably twenty eight million arbitration this year that's a big hit I think he stays on the red Sox to start the year I know there's been some speculation on Twitter seem traded that's a really difficult trade to make in and I would expect him to to start the year with the red Sox great conversation happy new year to you we'll talk again soon thanks so much thanks there you go they let a Newsday we will take some baseball calls when we come back Chris more.

"Dozo with Sunday it baseball's Jessica and does and Jess Wow that game last night was insane that's the kind of name I got to tell you do the post-game work and you go back to the hotel and you're staring at the walls in the hotel room wide awake because you have so much his rental in and I was what about you because eventually I did go back to sleep but you had to get up like three hours later to get up this morning yeah it was up at five and then you write everything and I know now I have such an appreciation for writers because I like to give all of because I know that everyone that I'm working with this morning didn't watch the game and so I basically the right everything that I feel like we're the highlights of things I want to get into all the stuff I need them to look up graphics Oh that's put me up until one two in the morning and the I'm upset if I walk into work and getting ready to go so I'm a morning person it's been the nights that like that's why I'm so excited about this game six because I'll tell you what there's been a couple of games this world series where I'm like fighting sleep in the sixth seventh innings. I've only got a few hours this one I mean buster there were times I was jumping on my bed in my hotel room liking the TV Blake I'm sure my neighbors the hotel do not appreciate I'm like come on the world series game six you should be watching it was it was a nutty gate for the most part we'll put it this way in the first five games the world series there was one lead change last night we had two plus all the craziness for that game distinguish itself from the rest of the world series and I've got a laundry list of stuff to get tune we'll get into all of what happened last night but let's start with this I thought you know Dave Martinez what an emotional night like he goes absolutely nuts during the course of the game we're in the seventh inning stretch and he looked down the field and all of a sudden I see Dave Martinez being restrained by one of his coaches and he's going after the umpires he winds up getting a in our life by the Japan and their life go ahead the one who's restoring him he's gotTa winds up being rejected first manager in twenty three years to be objected from a world he's game and then after the game you get knuckleheads like me going in there and ask you know the right questions about how he felt in that moment and what did you think about the call I Dave Martinez handled it perfectly because he's like you know what I don't WanNa get any that I don't want to talk about that and he said it respectfully he said I I understand but you know what it's all about game seven in so many words and that's exactly what I thought he should have done in that moment considering what the outcome was there was no reason for him to relive all the details game unless they lose like I feel like and not that you want to relive it anyway and you WanNa take the high road but there was a moment there and this is for the people who weren't watching the game live but when you're watching it live during the entire time empires had the headsets on that that the showing trae Turner in the out just the emotions completely I mean honestly watching the broadcast they were bleeping out every other word was coming out of that dugout because it was so much emotion it felt like that something we're gonNA WE'RE GONNA be talking about this moment for years because in that moment it felt like the nationals are gonNA lose this game and this is why it's GonNa be because of this so I think Dave Martinez would have been a completely different person had anthony rendon day income and hit that home run I think then he would have been a lot more but when you win the game and it's like why go back in blow up that entire call a hundred percent and that's what I thought was really smart by him to not go back and relive that because they won the game and they force game seven and game seven will be started by Max Scherzer who chess on Sunday comes walking stiffly into the interview room in front of reporters he When he was answering questions he wasn't turning his neck he was sitting in his wheelchair and turning the whole swivel chair to talk to reporters and he was so down he gets a cortisone shot which pitchers talk about is being such essentially a miracle drug and then yesterday when we walk into the Ballpark here in Houston he's in catching the outfield and goes to Intel's Day Martinez I'm ready to go and you get the feeling that this could be something that could fire or at the players I asked David about that before the game yesterday about you know whether or not the players might rally around this any mentioned that time when Max fouled the ball off he was on face broke his nose and the next day Texan picture instead I'm good to go and he started that day with the black is Dave said that got the players fired up I gotta believe tonight there'll be so much adrenaline Max on the mound especially because I mean from that press conference buster and and for those of us that know him he was devastated Leanne devastated on Sunday that he could not help his team and I felt like it worked in the reverse like he could not hide the emotion of how much he felt like he was leading his team down and because of that and not because that's the sole reason they lost by any means at all but I felt like the team reacted to his devastation and not just him not pitching the overall vibe that he was giving like I feel awful that I can't pitch in game that I'm supposed to I think it works in the reverse for game seven because he is battled on everything he can the cortisone shot I think my only concern was shirt tonight is we've seen in his starts in this postseason him go one hundred ten and plus pitches how much length can't he give this team now the good thing is you know Daniel Hudson Sean deal those two pitchers you can use anybody pretty much out of the bullpen and there is more options for Dave Martinez out of the bullpen but what we've seen is they need length from these starters how much length can shares her bring your stuff was just flat from the get-go the guys more pitches than anybody in baseball this year over four thousand he just he just didn't have it and I think it was because he he's tired at the end of a long year and right that's the question about Max tonight on the other side we're GonNa see Zach ranking who's also looked tiredness postseason and I would assume that he's he followed by Garrett Cole I talked to Garyk before game six and asked him about how his ability with game seven was something he was handling because of the flight on the day last turn it had a similar situation where normally I would pen on day two but since we were flying I decided to it settled in DC and throw my pen on day three which for this week sets up pretty much the same exact way and I felt really good last week on day three so I'm just taking the same routine did last week to prepare for the bullpen as I'm doing this week to prepare for possibly having to pitch game seven yes I think he's GonNa wind up pitching like innings four through six tonight what do you think yeah I think so I think this is something that you definitely see and I think just for the royalva nats I mean to be able to get to that grinky you know the point that they want to be able to do they're going to have to do it early and once they do that knowing what is looming in the bullpen and that's one thing opposite of the nationals is the astros have so many guys that they can go to and Garrett Cole who has been the ultimate throw down the hammer are you know for the scene the one point I have to make with Garrett Cole and I know we've seen it so much but the last time he has pitched in relief you go back to his freshman year at us Cla I went and looked at this against the ant eaters gave up a winning run I mean this is like I know it's liked onion cheek like it's been how long since he was a little frothy with the Bruins this is something that I do think fans that now we've seen it time and time again from Randy Johnson no Madison Bumgarner these star pitchers come out of the bullpen it's not as easy is it looks folks he's talking about it being similar to bullpen game he's never done it really he's never done it as a professional he's never done it with the Astros this is something that I think you definitely look for especially early on if he's coming in mid inning what what is he doing where's his heart rate because it's definitely different than than coming in just as the starter all right let's dig into game six last night we'll start with this golf clap or Stephen Strasburg watching that last night just reminded me of how I felt during the two thousand fourteen postseason watching Madison bumgarner where he seemed so in control where even when there were runners on base pitching backwards coming back and counts by throwing off speed pitches he was just absolutely composed and in the end despite the fact that Max Sherzer got up at one point in the sixth inning there Stephen Strasburg still out on the mound in the ninth inning what a performance the fifth five no yeah this amazing to me again Jose Altuva and I remember in the moment I sent this note to our producer in the moment I was like I don't know what's GonNa Happen in this game but to me this is the stories this isn't even the game like that fifth inning at bat it to Jose Altuve to me was the series why I mean you have a pitcher or a hitter up to bat similar to the Anthony Rendon in the first inning where all you really gotta do is put the bomb play take one of those breaking balls fine whole get to the grass score some runs and respond and felt like to all the guys in that order that's what he does I mean that guy can hit anything and Stephen Strasburg you'll get three pitches he started on what the

"Know he's he's one of the best and you know you could tell it was there's definitely a no go and you know I was wearing wearing on him a lot but you know you just you just try to pick each other up I mean that's that's kind of the beauty of this game is is you got a group of guys and will go out there and fight for each other and when we can play good baseball and and do little things like that it makes it that much more special I saw an incredible pitcher and he was he was really good in in and as I said before the game he has a uncanny ability to slow the game down when he's under any duress and we didn't we didn't put a lot of stress on now but the times that we did in the fifth inning leadoff single in the six he you know he kind of backs it down a little bit definitely in all of Stephen Strasberg AJ Hinch pointing out that they really couldn't get anything going against him because even though in the first inning it sounds like he was tipping is pitch is a little bit Strasbourg refers to without his debut Martinez he figured it out he stopped doing it and then he settle into this incredible group and here is the story of October for the nationals and Stephen Strasburg he's five you know with a one point nine eight ERA in sixth October starts five no one point nine eight ERA the nationals are not here going into a game seven attempting to win their first ever World Series in their first ever World Series appearance without even Strasbourg any here I'm on MLB net talking about how he can certainly empathize with what Max Scherzer has gone through and remember he was shut down of years ago in his career despite the fact that the nationals were headed to the post season and had a real good shot to make some noise organization shutting down he's gone through a you know a number of different injuries nagging here and there but such redemption for him this month our phone number is eight five five.

"Roberts here until one this afternoon a very full day today is the definition of fall colors have completely changed there's a nice brisk air I love is my favorite season but not even close because of everything the weather hi moved here when it comes to sports what federal call it the the equal knocks or something the sports he quit whatever the heck it is Debbie I lose weight last night there six straight Nicoletti almost at an apple had actually had a natural hat trick and they took it away from them because it was picked up by Maddie Martin he scored on a penalty shot and right now and then I get it hockey is not the most popular sport this town the owners are the most popular hockey team in this town but in a time in which things are down in New York sports met fans are angry even Yankee fans are angry after losing a six game of the ALCS the giants and jets both staying at Odos of either team has a has a coach they may have a quarterback will see the other is the best team in this town right now this call like it is they're proving that last year was no fluke and they are also proving this that Barry Trotz is the best coach slash manager in this town and I understand that that's not saying a lot right anyway who what's the competition I guess it would be Arab you know the Yankees have had a couple of one hundred when seasons but it's not Adam gase it's not Pat Shurmur will put them to the side they stink the Mets don't have a manager right so he's out boon we throw to the side I would New Jersey now may have a great year last year they're off to a bad start this year so we put him down I think ranger fans are already starting to turn on coach Quin say he's not out there my guy Kenny Atkinson I don't know I don't know nice here last year they had a very good year last year we'll see about this year it's too early to tell but I think right now it's not even close very tribes when you think about how he turned the islanders around last year from a team that was dead last in goals allowed to being number one in goals allowed and obviously to start their off to now winning six straight couple of thoughts are catchments comments will get right back to your calls and everything everything on the table on this wonderful Saturday look I know and I've heard caller say it all week whether it's to us whether was to Richard near before that the Yankees didn't lose because they didn't have an ace they lost because they didn't hit of course that is true now we've all talked about it and I think it's buried out the facts and I think every Yankee fan knows that that the reason they lost to the Houston Astros was because they did not hit on often as you see throughout this postseason clutch hitting kind of a big deal to why the Washington nationals lost last night they were over ten with runners in scoring position but just because the reason you lost is one specific thing doesn't mean you try to not improve another specific thing and so yes the Yankees lost because they didn't head and yes the Yankees don't have an ace both statements are true and so when the Yankees go into this off season which will start as soon as this World Series is over even though the Yankees lost because they didn't hit does it mean that needs to be the priority during the off season because they didn't hit now because their line up wasn't good enough their line up was good enough to score a billion runs this year their line up was good enough to hit over three hundred home runs even in this season was young Carlos stand barely played Erin judge missed a big chunk of time and Gary Sanchez missed a lot of time is part of the time when he played was struggling big time they still had over three hundred home runs and scored a lot of runs so bold statements can be true the Yankees lost to the post season because they didn't hit but the Yankees biggest priority should be adding an ace because guess what if you have an ace you have a better chance of winning nothing's a guarantee in baseball or sports for that matter other than Belichick and Brady winning the AFC so that there's no guarantees in sports but I don't even think it's debatable of course they should go get an ace now if the debate is how much do you spend on Gerrit Cole if it is to the detriment of resigning Didi Gregorius are adding other arms that's fine I heard a color to Richard made a very five point two one well he said one thing in correctly but the point was very salient he said Hey um don't you think the Yankees would be better off signing Zack Wheeler and Charlie Morton verses just signing Gerrit Cole now the reason why wasn't fair is more accu signed a two year deal so he's still signed by Tampa it was a two year deal with an option for a third but I understand that point he said Hey would they be better off divvying up the money for two good arms instead of one great art now my opinion is no no no get me the great honor that's my opinion is getting great arms very difficult great arms don't normally become available and the proof of that is the fact that the Yankees have an added a great arm in years not because Brian Cashman didn't want to but because when you look at the individual situations of what quote on quote great arm was out there there was good reason not to pursue Justin overlander looked like he was on the wrong side of his career I was wrong Cashman was wrong how Steinbrenner was wrong a lot of people wrong the Astros were right Gerrit Cole Wally young with big promise was coming off the year in the National League central with a four three five ERA yeah I think he come to the American League you become the best pitcher in the league no did Brian Cashman I don't think he did either so again it I think everybody was wrong the Astros are right it's a part of why the Astros or the World Series for the second time in three years they've been right a lot but right now we have an off season in which in my opinion there are three game changers that are in free agency three two I think most people would agree with the third is something I feel strongly about Gerrit Cole who's put together incredible back to back years and I think you would agree statistically over the last two years take your pick on him the grommet overlander shares are probably finishes fourth between those four guys that's how good he's been over the last two years he's only twenty nine years old he's a free agent he's a leak he's big time he's an ace and the only thing stopping you from signing him is money number two Stephen Strasburg Stephen Strasburg has earned all of our respect he's always been good at now he's great now he's great he's great because not only did he have a really good season this year not good enough to win the Cy Young but a very good season but look what this man is now gone in the postseason he is all thirty eight incredible postseason resume that matters to the New York Yankees that matters he's thirty one years old little bit older than Gerrit Cole he has a chance to opt out he is a free agent the third guy is Madison Bumgarner and I still believe until proven otherwise that in a big spot with my season on the line I want the ball in the hands of Madison Bumgarner is he a regular season dominant pitcher no he's not he has been a couple of years he wasn't this year the last couple years he had injuries looking injuries but injuries that over the last whether it's falling off a dirt bike we're getting hit by a line drive in his final start of spring training I think Bumgarner is a difference maker in October and so signing him even though he may not compete for a cy young the weak Gerrit Cole will and he may not put up these Cordy regular season numbers I would trust in a big spot those three guys are available and the only thing stopping the New York Yankees from signing anyone of those three would be money money should not be an excuse not when you're this close so yeah if the Yankees had an ace with a winning the World Series this year maybe not they did it enough but just because that statement is true that they didn't have enough and that's the reason they lost does it mean you shouldn't go out and improve the most obvious part of your team that needs improvement the way Brian Cashman builds or maintains this line up to me is going to be a fascinating thing to watch because they are not a lot a locks in the Yankee infielder right now here the lock that we know when we know Erin judge will be the right fielder we know John Carlos stand is either the left fielder or the designated hitter and we know that Gary Sanchez is catching we know DJ lemay use on the team we know glabra Tauruses on the team but we have no idea whether playing DJ could be the first baseman DJ could be the second baseman I guess the ticket he would be the third baseman labor Taurus could be the second baseman labor Taurus can be the shortstop does G. O. where shall let get the third base job he deserves it is Didi Gregorius back I would bring him back and does look void get a chance to recapture his first base job at all how about this one all throughout yeah does Greg Byrd exist and obviously you now have a hole in center field I made this point the other day I believe strongly in it when it comes to G. or shell and Mike talk man in the examples I use would be Jeff make Neal and Luke voice I think those guys are in the job I think what they did this season they have earned a first crack at an everyday spot in twenty twenty Jeff McNeil rewarded that right now wasn't at second base because obviously they made the move we can now make meal start off by playing a lot of left field he ended up playing a lot of third base he ended up playing a lot of right field the bottom line was he was an everyday player because the year before he earned it Luke Voight earn that crack a plan for space and he got it and for most of the season until he got hurt he was a first baseman for this team Mike talk with over eighty seven games was really really good and what they're being an opening in center field he deserves that first crack at it every day job G. or shallow let's not forget what he did in game six he was on base every single time give him a lot of credit I was sitting here a week ago saying Hey let me sit geo he hasn't done much offensively let me try to add punch to this line up with Edwin and John Carlo well Edwin played he was awful John Carlo didn't play NG was on base every time good for him he deserves that first crack at third base I would resign DD Gregorius I would add an outfielder I would add another left handed bat but my priority would be an ace now let's get back to your calls eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six Rick is down in Tampa Rick how are you hello Rick I put it to sleep maybe we'll get to him later let's go to Dorne in Marco island Florida what's of Dorne and the nice to talk to you you were discussing earlier about first time managers in baseball yes and I was thinking that maybe because bone is done fairly well his first two years hello obviously we know what he did in his first year in Boston do you think that if the organizations that are thinking of hiring a first time manager are solid organizations like the Yankees and the red Sox it's a little bit less of a crap yes that is a great doing that's a tremendous point that's why the red Sox the Yankees the Dodgers with Dave Martinez a few years ago I'm sorry Dave Roberts a few years ago Dave with Washington I think it makes it less of a risk when you are a well run.

"Stephen Strasburg finishes with a flourish and it would be an eight one win for the nationals in game three they've won all three games of the series so far Strasbourg seven innings no locks a dozen strikeouts as always the games here on ESPN radio teams over but there's still time for extricating this judge John P. alongside Jessica Mendoza the next beat the cardinals eight to one let's start with the obvious spot with the nationals we keep talking about starting pitching but it just seems like every time they roll one of their guys out there they don't disappoint in Strasbourg certainly didn't only heard Adam Eaton talking tonight about when they have Stephen Strasberg on the mound may feel like Hey guys we only need one run maybe two runs because we know how good Stephen Strasberg's gonna be on the reverse and it's amazing book when you have that mentality how that just keeps on rolling especially with this offense they don't just have to three or four dudes but they have Victor roadless weather played five games coming back being able to get a huge home run one through nine and even their bench guys have been so key for them so this is a very strong offense and you're right they don't get a lot of the attention because of how good their pitching is they showcased it tonight against a really good pitcher and Jack flirty and then the point to be driven home over and over again second in the league in runs per game first in on bass this is a good line up there's a reason that they achieve those marks over a hundred sixty two games and now with Kendrick rain dome sold old Zimmerman they're tough to contend with they are tough and like I said Victor robust at the bottom now in that eight spot he had the huge home run and shoot Michael Taylor was his replace it he was one of their hottest hitters SO three true love all with the top there isn't a spot within this line up this week especially amongst their position players and so I feel like for moving forward it's not just going to be about the Strasberg's and the shares are is in the Corbin although that's a huge reason why they're here their offense can get going to Corbin take he got the cold hard same in game four is the.
