"Know steve yang and then you go down joe montana start to realize. Oh well doing this. Let's go on. And do this and give peyton manning. His flowers pain men have multiple championships. Aaron rogers does not. but he's gonna go conversation peyton manning's not. Oh peyton manning has one two three four five and the who else has five. Mvp's in the entire nfl history. No one wanna know what that means for five years minimum because they give you every year for five years minimum. say all. Y'all get line now paying here. You're the best of all of those guys and all those guys were amazing as well. No one else to nfl. History is able to say that so if you combine those two guys who has more. Mvp's anyone else has. Multiple championships differ franchises. Why is he in a goat conversation. Understand if you don't wanna make them go because you don't want to be in a barber shop all night but for me paid men in best. I ever played against on the field. It's interesting sell because brady is the winner. Of course hayden as the better player played against both of them obviously later in their careers Then then you did. Peyton puts more fear in your heart and tom brady. Tom brady might still beat you. But peyton manning will beat mentally and beat you. Tom brady he just kind of gifts. It allows everybody else to get but peyton manning. There's just something different again. You can't entertain the argument particularly with people that just want to be ignorant and just to ring but if you really talk about game play and talent and mind manning in the conversation. I won't say i won't say he's better just because nobody in the conversation. Yes it's weird like tom. Brady's always going to be there at the end. Giving this chain chance win right. He'll be there at the end but you get paid and you might not be there dan because he going light show in the scoreboard. Scoreboards going to be affected. My last point real quick story rocket rocket first we pay men rugged everything was run right right right iraqis come out in the second half say right for rifle we say. Oh he's arguing right. He will like this duck. a harrison. Ninety nine yard fell like special -gratulations. Paid my favorite coming up zac. Wilson didn't think he played well in jet. I practice under the lights of metlife stadium. Which we'll tell you if the pressure is into new york's rookie quarterback that's next or you rivaled. The jets took that wilson's second overall trade. Sam darnold campus. Pretty clear. That wilson start right away. Who struggled in his debut under the lights. Saturday and the jets renew white scrimmage lead off and so on point quarterback described his performance as quote not great. You worried pressure will get to set wilson. No but it's almost like cell. Let's talk balls last blog tall. Let's go rhino grind. Call it like a field scrape. All fields scrape is for y'all is a blitz coming from the outside linebacker in the inside linebacker from the field hence the term fields scrape. You might worry about the outside linebacker getting to the quarterback. But if you've got a beastie tackle he'll get there first. So i'm not worried about zack. Wilson the pressure getting to him. I'm worried about him being rookie getting their i. I'm worried about him. Having a defensive minded had coach. Getting their i. I'm worried about the dominance of the patriots. Defense the dolphins defense which led the league and turnovers and the bills high flying offense all in the division getting there. I i'm not worried about pressure. Getting zach wilson. I'm worried about the fact that six out of the final eight teams in the playoffs. Last year had offense of minded head coaches one had special teams minded head. Coaching harbaugh and the other had a defensive minded head coach yet. A pressure might get there like that outside. Linebacker outfield scrape. Let us a whole lot of things that might get their. I could points good points. Zach supposed to be nice like not just talking about how he got drafted and watching. The highlights always eleven one at byu nam about my boys that i know there were no ball like nausea nights okay. I'm respecting them. Still let me preface everything. By saying this was a scrimmage. And i used to suck scrimmages. You want to know i the gone going against i go against ninety times every single day. So guess what you like wiley not me. I'll even watch. I watch you every day. That's what this defense was doing. Select wilson now be and we know you install. We know you every step of your progression and while you're learning the beautiful thing about going on game day and playing against somebody else is because they had to study up on you. But they know all the subtleties. They learned that on the fly. First quarter. o- self-correct is due likes to do this. On family faster filming look stronger. Whatever it may be that you walk right into first game against the guys that know you know anxiety. Not nervous wearing know who. He is easy target. Let me also say this about new york city. Because i think a lot of people always say new york city will eat you up. New york city is a fire. It will warm you or you will burn you. It warned me. It took me from lowly columbia to a second round pick first round projections in a worldwide distribution in new york times. So they'll act like new york each you up unless you ain't doing that and i think that wilson's go out there and going get it done coming up the sixers. I've been trying to move. Ben simmons off season turns out acquiring damian. Lillard is phillies honor go. We'll tell you if that will make the sixers legit contenders net. This has made it clear that he wants out of philly six or more than willing to oblige so far. Trade has a material into report from athletic goals. That's trade sentence. And more to acquire damian lillard auto. They me a little bit. The sixers legit title. Absolutely you got a score bona fide score from the outside crates base for joel embiid. They were already legit contenders. This year's a one c you ask at dane legitimate. All like coach coach otto. Who you got. Who's bringing it up and down. Dave what's going to visit as oh spot up shooter is that i think it's going to work to. There's this too much star. Power east is wide open outside of the brooklyn. That's it for us. Yeah shot at uber. Wealthy we'll see you tomorrow..

"With me and i. I went down there and talk to him and you know he. He's he can convention now. He's got so much. Energy and i ended up coaching and that. Usfl if you remember we played in the spring. It only went on for three years but man there is some great players in it. Great players i mean. I don't need to remind you of reggie. White and herschel walker. And steve young and then just jim kelly and on and on because these owners were grabbing these good players and convincing them to come and play. They're paying them some good money. It was fantastic. My first time really coaching pro football and the they were pros and they were a lot of good ones and made some you know jim. More senior was coaching in that league and it was just very well put together. It's unfortunate that ended only after three years but but we kind of have a little fraternity. Those who played and coached in that. Usfl back in the eighties. Correct me if you think. I'm wrong with statement. But i really liken it to the afl in those early days and all that talent that they had in the style of play that they had. I really thought the usfl was similar to it. And now you know. We're trying to start a new league called the afl another one going to start this spring and eight cities around It's not it's going to be different than the usfl. Because there's not going to be. Reggie white or steve young. Jim kelly plan. There's gonna be other guys that are trying to make the national football league more like a farm club. You know the guys that might get caught and camp and they try for another year or maybe some older guys that want to keep trying. It'll like that it'll be more like nfl. Europe was only. It's in the united states but yeah when the afl tried to get started back in the sixties They started grabbing some guys that were great players paint them some good money and they had themselves a league and and that was the usfl. You bet that's a good analogy now. Is there enough good players to go around to be adding all these leagues. We'll find out but there's such an appetite for pro football With coaches and fans that You can't you can't count it out that one year with the usfl and ninety and ninety one you served as a golden bears california offensive coordinator so you got a chance to you. Know bite into what It was like creating offensive football. But then a ninety two. You were appointed as a quarterback coach for the green bay packers. And you had a young quarterback. Tell me what your first impression was. A brett farve. Brett farr was with the atlanta falcons. He had a redshirt year. Lotta people forget about that. He was with the atlanta falcons for year. Didn't play well. I shouldn't say that he'd played he through. Five thousand. Children are separated. And he and billie joe. Hobart were not billy joe tolliver. We're we're guys that were backing up and just didn't get to play much at all. And he was just kind of a country bumpkin. That was fun loving kid from southern miss. And and i don't i go to green bay. Ron woolfe comes up to me. And he says hey mary i want you to evaluate brett farr. Now i had come from cal- evaluate brett farve. I was in college the year before coaching so i had a look at his. I look at atlanta tape. Which are wasn't much of. And then i had to go back and look at some southern miss tape and i came back to ron and i said well ron. He's got a strong arm and he looks like he's a tough guy and he looks like he's an excitable guy but there's you know you just don't get to see him play pro football at all. He's just the sits on the bench and run had been watching him for a while. You know when he was coming out at southern miss and we all know the story that he got in a car accident and lost thirty inches of his intestine right in the summer just a few weeks before playing alabama and he came back and With the after that surgery and beat alabama. I mean the guy was tough as nails and so run wolf traded for him traded away at number one vic and we had them and it wasn't like he was ready to play. He was very rod to say the least he was two hundred and forty eight pounds when he showed up and he was coming out of a run and shoot offense which gave him no preparation whatsoever for learning west. Coast offense or defenses against the west coast offense with a fullback mean. Running shoot is single back four wides and different right so we were kinda starting from scratch now. The thing about it is. He wasn't the starting quarterback on makovsky was and don makovsky had been magic man. He had been pro bowler good quarterback for the packers and as they would have it done got hurt third game that ankle injuries twenty eight surgeries on that darn ankle to this day and brett took over and aid. Brett farve never missed a game. Three hundred and twenty one starts. I mean the guys ironman tough as nails. Exciting unpredictable strong arm gunslinger funniest guy. I've ever been around toughest guy i've ever been around and the rest is history and so it was. It was kind of fun. It was really really my first. Nfl job With him being a first time starter. So we kind of grew up together. We cut our teeth together in the national football league. Right there in green bay. And i just a couple of sentences are a little more than that. Tell me a little bit about the dance between offensive coordinator and star quarterback who is young and developing. Because that's got to be a real challenge for both coach in quarterback. Well you know. I was a coordinator in college but when i went to the green bay packers we. We had quite a staff. We had a bunch of young kids. Mike holmgren hired a bunch of young guys. And besides me there was andy. Reid you know and We shared an office. He was coaching tight ends. Yeah jon gruden. He was coaching the wide receivers. Dick drawn yeah railroad sherm lewis. You know that that bunch and so we. We had to learn the west coast offense the way mike holmgren wanted to talk and he had just come from the san francisco. Forty niners coach. Joe montana and steve young with bill so there was a certain way that i learned it. So forget everything you've learned and taught before that 'cause we were going in that west coast direction and so I mean actually. I was learning the system. Along with the quarterbacks to really i we all pretty much got there at the same time. After four years with the packers you returned to cal this time as the head coach and your first season was six and six and then you were hired as the forty niners head coach in ninety-seven re you ready to be a head coach the nfl level. Are you ever ready I watched i was a young coach. Ron and i would take notes. I would. I'm a hoarder. I've got things. I just keep things okay and i put a big head coach book together and and i took notes in in things that i liked from every head coach i ever worked for. And whether it'd be from northern michigan or cal state fullerton louisville or lee course own usfl or usc or wherever and it's and it's in preparation of getting my first opportunity My first opportunity happened to be a cow and so luckily two things. I was lucky for two reasons number one. I learned that offense from mike holmgren that came from the forty niners. Okay so my offense at cal and then green bay was the exact same offense. The forty niners were using. Okay and the other thing. I did have some head. Coaching experience cal Some assistant coaching had cal before the packers so so i was somewhat ready. You're never really ready until you do it for a while. And because because of all the things that you'll have to go through and i went from coaching you know cal. Eighteen to twenty year old kids coaching jerry. Rice and steve. Yang and chris doleman and all these hall of famers and So these guys were older than me. I think and so It was it was quite an experience. It was You know carmen. Policy and eddie barlow said that you can do this. And i called bill walls and he and i said what do you think he says do it. We will help you. We will help you with anything you need. Were all your for you. Let's go and so and so we did it. And i and i didn't expect to leave cal. After one year i really didn't and So all of a sudden i was. I don't want to say thrown to the wolves. But i had this huge responsibility with the forty.

"Four five and six in the sports leader Francisco forty Niners have eight touchdowns thus far in this game that is just an amazing game so far for the San Francisco forty Niners and you get you got a look at how much more can they do Joe Montana still in there I would guess that the coach is having difficulty getting Joe Montana out of this game exactly Jeff from now on I think they're gonna have to start referring to the Super Bowl record book as the forty niner record at the rate they're going they seem to hold about three quarters of matter today Montana is still in there Sydney is in the backfield along with Terrence Flagler Gerard a wide receiver years again for the running backs Flagler couldn't get outside now from behind very close to the line of scrimmage by Rick Dennison eleven minutes left in this game and it can't end quickly enough for the Broncos the game stadion and I'm sure that with the coaches doing ready and had to believe that the little bit of a dramatic moment you're looking for a back stay in for one play minyak amounts everybody everybody that's left in the stadium to applaud for we'll give you a Montana's final figures here is shaking hands along the sideline what'd he compiled only was twenty two of twenty nine for two hundred ninety six yards and five touchdowns so Steve Yang hands at all but his first stab at a given to Flagler he's knocked down for another loss the loss we aren't on the first play of Michael Brooks.

Sanders has thirty one but a judge has twenty one Biden end out Warren are tied at twelve club journal Levin joining to discuss all this Jake Sherman of politic got one of the I. better political reporters in the country good morning Jake thank you ever you are great I do think that the but its campaign is like the Monkees opening song for those of a certain age they become the New Hampshire there considerably younger than every other Democrat in the field I mean by a lot and they're having fun I think they're having fun I think they won I what what's your assessment well I think I actually kind of believe in but maybe I'm wrong here but I kind of believe that it doesn't actually matter when I walk by from a moment to point if you could work out and during our third Kate passed I will without actually any results so yeah for all intents and purposes he won I what you can get into your answer he's trying to create momentum I thank you the winner and he's done a good job of doing that but listen I think it's going to be really really interesting eighty for you to see what happens in the next two state where he is with them the race is going to get further model by two states that are not as susceptible to Mr booted judge but I I'm going up on Sunday evening and will spend the the first two days of next week there so I'm really looking forward to seeing the candidates in action I don't envy you I had to do that four years ago when the Republicans fight it out I go and watch it up close for the Democrats to nobody talks to me so I stay home I I I do look at these numbers though and I want to repeat them slowly Boston globe Suffolk post Bernie Sanders has twenty five but a judge has nineteen Joe Biden as twelve Elizabeth Warren has eleven club which twelve Joe Biden has twelve Tulsi Gabbard has five Steve Yang has five times there has one so that's a Sanders weight of sex and the standard rate of ten but I think what jumps out of that is that Joe Biden is going to finish that **** fourth again made the third but it looks like fourth again is he out of money Jake Sherman well I think it just becomes increasingly difficult to raise money I don't know which current cash situation but if you don't have a theory of the case for the candidates or not gonna keep cutting you check from I think that's gonna be that's gonna be a problem now if you talk to Joe Biden's people what they say is if you win South Carolina P. places well in the data used very much alive this is not a contract that's going to be decided in Iowa and New Hampshire and that's fair enough but finish it I wonder please finish in New Hampshire regardless of if you served as vice president and the senator for many decades and have a a career that a lot of people might envy it doesn't work or working in the here and now we're not talking about it just out of your of your part we're talking about Joe Biden in twenty twenty three think this deal that basic some other imagine you'll at some point in time so you begin to wonder if you're a Democrat Democrats are you talking to Democrats stalking you begin to wonder what the theory of the case it and if you don't have a theory of the case why give money to somebody who's not gonna make it let let let's talk about Joe Biden and I wish to complain about this what I purchased not often though to do from this pretty boutique yes the Norwegian blue what for what all did you what's wrong with it it's dead that's what's wrong I don't know did when they see one and I'm looking at one nobody wants to say I'd there it is dad and I I really do not know how you how anybody not you J. chairman of political about how anybody pretends that the former vice president the United States has horribly disappointed in the first state and is likely to do so in the second state he's not performer he should we're his advisers thought they will he will I mean there's no question about that and at I think a lot of Democrats that I talk to elected Democrats which are most most of the people that I talk you're given I'm I'm watch debate cover Congress the most of those Democrats recognize he's not where the center of gravity is in the party at the moment he's not where the energy is in the party at the moment that is is argument as well all be Donald Trump well you have to get other people first and you can't say I if you start running you can't say well I can't run a mile but I I believe at some point I'll be able to run a bear that out that's not this works you need to be able to get your gets important and and get through the primary process in order to get a general election after this game works and you need to excite people would you cannot do with lines like the radio make sure the television version of me make sure you have a record player on the night of the fall eight he's just not connecting yesterday in New Hampshire Joe Biden said this cut number thirteen again he's in New "Talking numbers you know gone through Some of the lower digits and talk about how the New York Yankees have essentially retired every number imaginable. So they've taken a lot of fun out of the retired numbers going through the hall of famers all these. These guys did change numbers at some court at some point in their careers. But I find it interesting. Jim Auto is double zero in the hall of fame. Wilbur Pete Henry or number zero but it was not his primary number he believes leaves. Fats Henry played eight seasons and notably had a ninety four yard punt out of Washington in in Jefferson. He was five foot eleven. Two hundred and forty five pounds. He was born on Halloween in eighteen. Ninety seven died in nineteen fifty two Has the longest drop kick field goal. which is fifty yards the He said the mark for the longest punt of ninety four yards Randall Cunningham had since broken and that but An all around player as many players were early on in their careers and were zero. Once upon a the time I think that At one point he wore no number at all Number one I mentioned war. Warren Moon Curly Lambeau fits the mold. Fritz Pollard. Your Benny Friedman Rafer clarity John Paddy Driscoll Skull and Jimmy Consummate all war number one. I I mentioned four. You know it belongs to far and even the company that he's Got Toffee Lemans and Ernie Nevers who didn't wear it as his primary number You've got Morten Andersen wore number five along with Paul Hornig and and George McAfee John. elway is the definitive number seven but Hard to deny that people are going to know who George Chalices. They're gonNA know. Probably Not GonNa know Bob Waterfield number. Eight AIKMAN Steve. Yang Ray guy. The first punter inducted acted in the hall of fame. Now a Lotta number. Nine's Sunday Jorgensen. In fact the only number nine you know the guy that wore number nine primarily Fran Tarkenton the only guy that were number ten these guys that are enshrined in Canton by the way norm van Brooklyn among Fritz Pollard. Also wore number eleven eleven at some point in his career. Joe Gog I N and William Roy owning climbing. I wore number eleven to twelve to a lot of notable twelve's super superbowl champions superbowl champion. quarterbacks up that Carrie Bradshaw Bob Greasy. Jim Kelly Joe Nemeth. Ken Stabler Roger Your starbuck. Soon you're GONNA have to you know you're GONNA add Tom Brady into that. Mix Thirteen Marino Warner questionable whether warner blogs in the hall of fame or not. But that's for another time out Graham among white at all Don Hudson the first great receiver for the Green Bay packers and Dan fouts the the guy that would have all the records if not for the fact actor. Philip rivers played for the chargers organization for a long time. Steve Van Buren and Bart Starr number fifteen len Dawson George. Blanda Frank Deford Joe Montana. Ken Stabler All wore number sixteen at one point in their career. I can't believe Ken. Stabler is in the hall of fame either. This is really just my excuse to kind of pick apart Some of these guys that are in the hall of fame Number Seventeen I saw Edwards was sure sure that it was not Brillon Red Badge row and Benny Friedman also wore seventeen. At one point in their careers emmitt Thomas and Charlie joiner war eighteen lance all worth were number nineteen in Johnny United's is the most those famous nineteen in football but Probably not right there with Bob Feller. As far as notoriety and popularity I sanders is the premier number twenty ad read recently inducted. Frying dockings recently inducted Dion Sanders one with Dania Tomlinson. It think there'd be a longer list. George Blanda one of those quarterbacks that wore number twenty two what is primary number. I think that we look at his primary as number. Sixteen canes or number twenty two night train lane worked twenty two ending Smith First Name Emit Emmett Smith were number twenty two for for the Dallas Cowboys Twenty three. I mentioned how you know how popular it is. In the National Basketball Association Guy Chamberlin War twenty-three at one point in his career not his primary number learn nobody. There's nobody in the history of the National Football League that primarily wore number twenty three that ended up getting a gold jacket numbers in the eighties. The most popular guys it's Court touchdowns as what it comes down to Dante Lavelli Eighty in in pretty exclusive company with Buck Buchanan with the number eighty six. Nick Connie any of those violations of number logic and I think it's better this way I think it's kind of cool and college football kicker ninety seven aura. A Rocket Randy Moss and Shannon Sharpe represent the eighty four group under four eighty four but deal. He wore four eighty three The time that you remember him as Buffalo Bill Ozzie. newsome John Stallworth. Raymond mm-hmm in Berry Rim Berry coach the Patriots in the eighty five super bowl super bowl. Twenty where they got trounced spy The Chicago bears quite a few. The Eighty One's Jackie Smith. Carol Owens Art Monk They trained Lane Carl eller Tim Brown I'm Doug Atkins in the seventies Every one of these guys were their entire career Bobby Bell for for the Kansas City chiefs. Curley culp Stan Jones Anthony. Immune IOS art. Shell First African American head coach in the national football colleague. Jackie slater are. He is the player that you remember from those John Robinson. T. Rams teams of the Nineteen Eighty S at Bruce Smith. Breath the pass rusher from Virginia Tech or pretty exclusive numbers sixty seven. Nobody's really warned. That primarily. Joe Demolli de la Malaya Russ Grimm. Kevin Maui will shields other Kansas City chief. Our number sixty eight much at camping. The only number fifty nine in the hall. There's some pretty limited Dicko were ninety eight but it was not his primary number. Richard Haley Ninety four played on championship. Teams were San Francisco and Alice. Richard Dent at one time he was the most recent defensive of player to win the MVP of the Super Bowl Soviet somebody from Tampa Bay in two thousand three. Let's say Dexter Jackson listen. Rejects Dexter Smith Dave Casper Willie Davis Claude Humphrey. You know. It's amazing to go through the list of the very best players. Nobody's weren't forty-six Lou. GROZA warid momentarily once upon the time twenty sevens pretty pretty exclusive. Nobody that I've ever heard of can Houston Carl Hubbard Cal Cal Hubbard and these are just no I I mean. Of course you're we're GONNA have a lot of quarterbacks using those teen numbers you have a lot of receivers probably you know you got a really really stand out if offense or a defensive line or in a single digit receivers in the National Football League or see a lot. More single digit pitchers in Major League Baseball. I think that these guys you know I. It's becoming less of a stigma on it. I mean single-digit pitchers you see that less often than you'd see Haley's comet in hockey doesn't seem to matter Gretzky warned ninety nine Lemieux war sixty six. No what would never connor mcdavid wears. It's up to the low seventeen. That's definitely not a number of the Jimmy. Johnson drove under twenty twenty eight twenty six twenty nine thirty two mercy. Johnson had a kind of a cool football number. Scott drove the lowest car for EEK is rouse racing your Hendrix no osborne. Sports recognize all sports. Certainly not an expert across the board. I have fun with the NASCAR though. All they've got good looking lives. I don't buy it a little south park torn stupid. They think that it's a Sport did y'all a certain demographic of people like people like camping Out Sitting on bleachers listening to loud motors smell inhaling the fumes. It's it's it's not my cup of tea. I went to a nationwide racial one year. I don't even know if that circuits still called the nationwide series back when you had the Winston Cup think Winston Winston Cup is baked become. The Nextel Cup becomes a Sprint Cup. They put you know how many miles are driving. Forty eight forty. That's not even a good football number. I threw out probably twenty six numbers throughout like every running back number throughout the the double digits I knew that eleven was Hamlin and forty therefore became Dale Jarrett when he switched to switch off the ups car or maybe ups became the forty four where he rudd drove that one once upon a time ager drove eighty-eight for sure ninety nine got was that Carl Edwards Junior then Carl Carl Edwards junior pitched cobs wore number six one of those single digit pitchers not so much a rare item anymore..

I believe that in this case that kurtz mom lives in more of a rural environment so that would probably be less of an issue there and this is just more for kind of safety safety insecurity awesome and <hes>. I mean the other one that you had in here too was that there are some rumors of an upcoming wise is outdoor camera. What do you have any experience with the the white stuff so far don't but you know everybody i talked to who's using them just swears by it and i think the swearing by it has more to do with the fact that holy crap. This is a twenty dollar camera. If it does anything it's gotta be good right but they've continued continue to improve the platform. They just added person detection with a logic that they've burned into the firmware now through an update so they are there are company to look at but like you said this is a rumour. We don't know when the outdoor camera is coming out. They have talked about putting out an outdoor camera but they've provided no timelines okay all right well. "Years. He'd never leaves the field yeah ever. I think he does a lot of special teams to you know the defense bird field goals and stuff in the paint barber running back situation looks pretty much like we said it would. I know we're going to find out about ronald jones in the preseason. I think they're gonna look at him in the preseason and if he's not boston out i mean he can't be pulling off two three yard runs. He's gonna have to break some you know they're gonna move andre ellington and his spot. He might only make team. Who this put up in there. We're gonna see ryan griffin. Probably the little bit friday visited verde which one's hurt fitzgerald fitzgerald's her back. He's not gonna play all right so yeah. I don't i don't see where a lot of this is going to change to performance or people getting cut you know as far as the starters go. I do see a few positions positions where it's up for grabs as far as performance is concerned the offense as relatively unchanged from last year juries chris on win. Yeah he's moved up a spot. He's moved out where sean jackson's but other than that and alex kappa positions that are different same old same aw great that was a lot of concern cutter got fired was very often changing because we just had such an explosive never before seen offense really the buchan ear right never before this is beyond anything any buccaneer fan since the beginning of the franchise has ever seen and i want to bring that back to jameis winston you know there's a lot of people crap james winston especially visit turnover is poor decision making and i'll be one of the ones that will sit there and say hey guys got to get better with this decision making but he's the best quarterback quarterback we've ever had. I mean you could say steve yang here. He wasn't that great. You can say doug williams but he wasn't here that long the only one that i would say as even close to be josh freeman in two thousand ten season two thousand ten two thousand eleven. Maybe he was light it up. I thought he was going to be something special but james winston is by far the best quarterback we've ever hat and he's going to break all the a lot of the book and his records this year the ones he has broken already. We've talked about that previous podcast records. He's gonna break coming up. We need to keep a list justin that keep a running tally doolittle special celebration when he breaks the record so stop crapping on the do. It's like you have never dated a girl before for any gopher girlfriend and you complain because she's got a web to- you know she's hot smart. Best your friend you've ever had in your paul crap about her because he's got a scar on her ankle. That's what we're talking about here. Best quarterback we've ever had shut up special you passenger jerk off. It also brings me to another point medicines where there's a little bit here just a little bit china. They've been kind of quiet. All they've done is talking about training came. I don't know how many of them are going good. Point greg allman seen a lot of fan video says on twitter of the practices joe boatman putting up yeah rick podcast. We talked about a couple of weeks ago. Which just glowing about the team yeah ah so maybe he's turned a corner drink of the kool-aid. Come all right drinks cooling with his buddy. We talked about noah spent all the time and here he is. He's starting with a new coaching staff new defense. He's a starting outside linebacker. What in the world happened with him. We brought this up. We brought this up and i want you. I point to the media not getting any information on this because noah spence was not on the field because of performance issue got played well he their own injury yes and he wasn't on not on the field because of injury he just wasn't on the field and nobody has given us an answer as to why they were just throwing only matt there for four or five plays. A game for the past two years. Come on the mostly van is joe buck. Fan said personal issues that i've heard that's all of her to get a lot of stuff from joe bucks that they never follow up on either so i don't care gimme the information don't pull this crap where two years from now you're going to be like oh yeah noah spence ran over the coaches puppy in two thousand fourteen right and they're trying to run amount of towns that they bring it up then that's when they always bring this stuff so i'm really the anxious to see if those are going to come out and play lights out like i think he's going to at least play very well like i think he's going to do but then when that to you point to it was a problem problem to coaching staff. I think we have no doubt it was a problem with the coaching staff and past two years when you've got brent grimes out there basically lolly gagging on the field refusing using the play man coverage or anything other than protecting his little ten yards zone area that that's a cancer on the field and in the locker room that wasn't being addressed arrest. We didn't hear crap about that until he come out and said it after the season when you've got sean jackson and the jameis winston problem that was going l. bad that he'd lose his career over it. Yes and sean jackson have hissy fits in the locker room and kicking display items and all this stuff. We didn't hear about a year a year later yes when they were ready to run him out of jail. When you've got noah spence issues going on i'd there is definitely some bad people management going on there in bed coach on the defensive side of the ball. They did not teach these guys how to tackle or they. The tackling technique they used was absolutely horrendous this whole dive at the waist and legs thing just i got i don't ever want to see that again and the horrible coverage that they were doing with you know they gave ten yards right away. I'm like you can get ten yards all day dow but we're not gonna give up. Fifteen fifteen was kind of like their philosophy because i think i think cut her hedges really pounded it home. They don't give up. Those explosive plays which they did anyhow. They were confused involves what was going on yeah. It was just being bad. Coaching connor was great with his offensive schemes man some of his plays which is fantastic but it was not good at people management. He was not good good at drumming up fan support. He was not good at strategy in mind games with the coaches. They did with hill all the time so like everything thing that makes the head coach basically switcher telling me much. They'll get her. All i cut her. I didn't want to get fired. I think that he's a coordinator very a good coordinator and head coach. That's what i feel the same way about the inquiry novara elena. I think a head coach. I think he's a coordinator. I think there's a lot ought to be the head. Coach of their is just knowing football and i think that's why bruce. Arians is a perfect fit for this. I think that he knows what it takes. Interscience people coaches more people than people very much your schemes in the media in fans. You can do all three yeah. I love the fans in there because if you're jerk to the fans they will turn on you. Quit oh yeah and if you don't placate the fans they will turn on you. Quick quick. I mean if you do stupid stuff like i don't know tell ex football players from the super bowl hair that they can't come on the field as his fans off. If it's yana which is absolutely horrible dealing with the media i mean he was great at in his conferences but as far as football yes as far as getting getting himself yes marketing himself. He didn't play the politics and he just he. He restricted media access to the players that pissed me off so they just went after him. Lovey lovey smith. Oh god horrible lowest. Memphis seemed to be all about the football team. He didn't care about anything. Care about fans didn't care about the media and care about he. He didn't seem care about strategy or really really seemed to be about the i don't know just being turned name very strange range and then you've got raheem morris who was basically thrown to the wolves just kind of like the way dirk koetter was no but you know these are two that we've had three head coaches out of the past i four that had no head coaching experience so we just brought him in and just sit here do this so i think we got it right this time. I think we've finally seen them. <hes> you know take an shot on coordinators and college coaches isn't the way to go right now. We need to win now but i think we always just just over corrected for our previous mistakes. Okay so we have rahim who's younger and inexperienced and then he's also choose friendly friendly with the players to the mass so then you get rid of him and then you go to the hard nosed disciplinarian yeah and that doesn't work mark so then he just go to lovey smith who is i don't know what he is on even on what say fan favorite maybe be the name recognition we went from xiang who was a nobody too yeah an experience head coach the very lead who'd gone to the super bowl and the record wish kogo average so yeah we just bounce back and forth defensive-minded then we go to cutter offensive minded but i think this time we went all right. We're gonna stop doing that. We're just going to get what's best for our team and i think that y- bruce arians being out there was so tempting that we really you can try and get him no matter what because it was just coast coach. He's good all the way around is good people manager. He's good with the media. He's with fans. I love him. I never berlin believe role. Step saying till we get to the super bowl. I'm really excited to see this game aim friday night lots of things i wanna see i wanna see noah spence. You know they're gonna have him out there. They're going to out there more than one series. I'm sure i'm going to say down buchanan taking up <hes> levante david position he plays. I wanna see the secondary one is brad hargreaves very much when he has gotten a tank and then this mike edwards that they he likes so much but you know remember. We're going to be playing the steelers second stringers. Basically i mean they're not going to have i i. I would be surprised that they had been out there at all all right but i don't really mind that because he second-stringers. They're fighting for a job to do so. I don't think you're gonna see all the schemes that you necessarily only see during a regular game negative without saying but i think the effort will still be there. It won't surprise me if aryans purposely stalls us us on about the forty yard line opponents forty yard line and try some crazy plays a you know they just want to try out just so that we could try gig kicking from <music> seven over fifty yards. I am really surprised that he's second-string behind cairo. Switch week to matt gail be postering but but then mullen era to be that matt gave winning this of course football friday we'll do friday. You're going to talk about the steelers and what to expect from that game. Yes who we might see on the field the rivalry between bruce arians and mike tomlin aim. We're gonna cover a review. Move hard knocks yeah. I hope it starts off dramatic immediately jonker. He can't be screen without one making it all about him too. I can sam listening to him on monday night football. Is this gonna be the whole series. Football is totally the different than him as a football coach football coach. He loved everybody. You know he was like this is a great player. Who's ever played football and then the guy right across from him was the great. Can i mean he was getting as football coach pretty much the exact opposite eighth everybody yeah. He's out there in your face cream and calling you cussing out..

"So great to catch up. Same here, Paul. My pleasure. Daddy, Robbins, one of the great sports investigative reporters. Now, he's. With the AJC, and he mentioned that the Sherwood blunt, the the famous Texan who said I have a payroll to meet we're talking about college football here. You're listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. You haven't been watching the af you've been missing some very good football. And the team many considered to be the best. Coach may disagree is Steve Spurrier undefeated and heading out west this week. Coach first of all, congratulations. It's been quite a run for the Apollo's three zero and heading to Salt Lake this weekend. Well, thank you, Paul tell you what we think we've got a good team. We don't always look like one at times. But we got we got a fighting chance to to compete compete for the championship. But it's a long way to go on the play three of the ten and hopefully will qualify for the playoffs for the eighteenth do qualify. So hopefully, we can do that. But we're we're we're looking forward to playing Salt Lake City the Saturday night. I think it's eight o'clock eastern town just from a personal standpoint have been like getting back in it and coaching and being on the sideline again. Yeah. Tell you what Paul hopefully, I'm coaching Leka used to coach mostly at Florida. We only have tennis distant coaches. So I'm back in the quarterback coach fits coordinator and all that kind of stuff and head coach. So I've been probably more busy the last two months than I did as a college head coach. It seems like we have a lot of assistance from so many people and so forth. And but it has been we just got through practicing. I don't know if you know it or not the winning Jacksonville right now. No. No, we had trouble. Securing workmen's compensation insurance for the team in the state of Florida Georgia sold it to us and part of the deal is we have to spend half of our days in the state of Georgia. So we got practice facility up in Kingsland, Georgia, Camden County high school. So we bust about fifty minutes up there and back each day. And but it's very nice and hotel here in Jacksonville is very nice. So we're sort of a traveling much gas. It's a good thing. We're all like each other. 'cause we're with each other all day pretty much about eight eight thirty at night and so forth. You mentioned only having what you said tennis systems. I mean can't coach saving lend you some of those offense of analysts. No. In fact, allows said you can only have one I think one sort of Gabby help out with the equipment that maybe can charge some plays or something like that. So we do have one guy that sorta helps out both sides of the ball. But yeah, we got plenty of guys. You know, the in the pros we only got fifty two guys on the team. And I think we're going to be able to dress out forty five this week the first three weeks, it was forty three EPA. They're gonna give us a couple of more guests to suit up. So we've got plenty of coaches. And and this is the way I wanted to do it. Anyway, as far as getting back spending all McNabb with quarterbacks pretty much all day during practice you. This is you've done professional football and the number of levels from from the NFL. You also were very successful coach in the in the US. How would you rank or rate the quality of players in this league? Tallish great, very similar USFL, and maybe a little bit better. We just don't have the star players. Yes. Fell wanted each team San one or two big names. You know, gosh Herschel Walker played in the US F L, Jim Kelly, Steve Yang. Reggie white. Right. Gosh, hall of fame NFL guys after the league folded up. So we're we're not spending money on those gas..

"We can tell this into the first record we right net as probably late seventeen. But it came eighteen when I was nineteen. So you could sell their thoughts of high school kid rather than what we have now thoughts of a forty something year old. So I think we graduated the intensity of the lyrics. The topics and the lyrics, you know, we never could have grasped on the first couple records. But as you understand society, more you can you can attack things from different angles, so to speak and and present things differently in ways at people were like I thought about this like that. I never thought about this coming from that angle. You know, that's the part that interests me in and makes lyric writing easier for me because there's so many different ways you can slap people in the back of the head. Right. So many times I go to Oz fashioned. Ozzie reading the teleprompter lurks. In the fuck, do you? Remember all the songs that you play as Qatar? That's one of the reasons we pract sit. Sound like maybe a layup question. But that dig it that that question Mark out of the way. Yeah. And Tom I told Dom get a teleprompter years ago, and he'll insists on having a piece of paper like that with like a keyword on it. It'll just look down key where I'm like, dude. They don't cost much prompters. So when you're completely out of your fucking mind down there. And there you go band. There's that lyric it everybody wants you to see. But yeah, he's still does it like, you know. Cheapest possible piece of paper taped to the monitor covering. Yeah. I was talking to Zach wild one time. I'm pretty good friends at him. And I said Zach when you're out there playing all that bullshit Manasota. So we thinking. They didn't even hesitate. He goes Steve Yang thinking, he goes us just doing it goes if you thinking your stinking is that is that true for you? I'm us out there going through your absolute. But there's another perspective when it comes time to go home you've been road for like eight ten weeks. Yeah. My problem is already home, and I'll be on stage. And I'll be thinking about sitting by the pool or going to the bar and having a drink. That's where your by jet. Yeah. And then I'll come back and go shit where we at you got gotta you got to like really kick back into it. But it's so second nature your hands. Just do it without thinking about it ninety nine percent of the time. But yeah, man, I mean that last week is always a pain in the ass because either I'll be going home will be going home. Somebody's sitting at home while we're on stage play in live. It's hard to stay focused when you've been doing it in like we've been on this record since oh nine right? So there will be times when I'd be on the road. And I'd be like man, I can't wait to get fuck off this motherfucker now when I get home two and a half days later, I was Jones into get back on take me a little longer than that. Again. It's a little bit different. We would be home a little bit more often than y'all we'd constantly tour, but we're home a little bit more. So maybe the cycles a little bit different when you on at least three weeks time. Yeah. At least so that when you get home how long does it take you to decompression get back into your zone. Couple days, you know. And that's basically just in case you're you came from time zone. That's opposite of yours. Other net is just going home and not picking up a guitar not head-banging not putting my body through shit. You know, so when when you're at the house where you just chill and not pick up a guitar player. Practice for awhile. You know, and that could be any different amount of time for many different tour. But with Jeffey out of the picture, I play a lot more because I'm responsible for more music coming future music to come out. I keep that in perspective. But I don't sit around and play near as much as act or John five or the guys that you know, that's their life. You know, I come home, and I've been doing this thirty years, and you know, it's good love it, low blankets. I want to come home and sit and do nothing, you know, but you guys are still rolling strong to hell of a damn run..

I remember my heart sank when the company gave me the information that I was supposed to put into the song that good gracious home. I going to do this and make it a single song.
