What Did an Opening Ceremony Without Spectators Look Like?

"Of the 32nd Olympiad now underway in Tokyo after an opening ceremony, unlike any other which unfolded inside an empty stadium and which were just now seeing on our televisions tonight. Here in the US joining us live from Tokyo with an update. Now CBS is Steve Futterman. Steve. It's almost old news there the opening ceremonies, but we're just getting a glimpse here unless somebody got up really early to watch. What were your impressions of this most unusual opening ceremonies and overall Olympic Games? Well, I think they tried the best they could. I found it. I rarely try to give opinions in my reports. But I found it a bit sad and no pun intended. There was sort of an empty feeling in the stadium. You know, when you go to an event like this part of the event is the fact that you're sharing that you may not consciously be sharing it, but you're sharing it with Thousands of other people there would have been around 65 68,000 fans in the stadium. I'm guessing there were a few 1000 people there yesterday around 1500 media members, some support staff. Uh, some dignitaries, the diplomatic corps, et cetera. So several 1000 people were there. It just wasn't the same. I was comparing it to. I saw Hamilton in 2015 in New York. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it watching it alone. When you're whipped the crowd, something adds to it, And I think that's what was missing last night, so I did find it a bit sad. They tried. There was some spectacular moments. Wonderful pictures. Naomi Osaka lighting the Olympic cauldron just wonderful, but It just didn't it didn't didn't have the necessity that you have to have the fans there to make it work. Not

Kevin Hart Trolls Nick Cannon's Fatherhood With Digital Billboard in LA

"Nick Cannon prank Kevin Hart by sending him a llama for his birthday, which seems like a no big deal. So Kevin got him back by putting up billboards in L, a Atlanta and New York with Nick Cannon's actual phone number on them that said, for any advice on fatherhood, call my best friend, Nick Cannon. Oh, my God, That's awesome. Would that would suck Could you imagine? Oh, God, I mean, I think it's great, though, if you have that kind of money, and you're going to be able to prank your friend on that level. I mean, that's way better than sending a

How to Deal With A Lack of Passion in Your Job and Life

"If there is one problem that one on one coaching clients come to me with more than anything else. It's this problem. I don't feel passionate about my work. Or i want my work to be my passion. How do i do that. And we hear it all the time. Right this quote. From steve jobs is just one way but we hear all the time. If you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life and other things like that and that is a lovely idea. That's a lovely experiment and if it's what you're striving for men make it your goal i mean go for it but hear me out in this episode because i don't think that that necessarily has to be the case so in the united states we've talked about this in prior episodes where we've talked about role gulf meant this idea that our identity gets very wrapped up in our title and in the job that we do this particularly strong or something that happens in the united states. We tend to identify with our work and with our title more than other countries and other cultures. Do we also work really long hours. And so when you put those two things together the role that our workplace in our identity and also the amount of our life that are work takes up. We can almost forget that there's life outside of work or that there's opportunity to be passionate outside of work. We looked to this lack of passion in our lives and the first place we think to get it is from our job but is that the only place and that's the question. I wanna pose. I'm not saying that it's impossible. No one can be passionate about their work. That's definitely not true. But if you are not passionate about your job and there are real barriers in place for you to make a change or you're not even sure what direction to go just yet. I would offer that asking yourself the question of how might i be able to feel that passion or express that passion in ways outside of my job is a much more near term realistic way to get that passion. Everything You Need to Know About Elon, Jack and Cathies Bitcoin Chat

"The b word was an event held by arc. That was meant to demystify bitcoin and specifically to demystify it for institutions. That had perhaps gotten off track with bitcoin in their relationship with bitcoin. During the absolute craziness of the first part of this year to that end yesterday saw sessions on energy and mining. Courtesy of nick carter sessions on the macro context with lynn alden discussions of human rights and bitcoin with alex glad scene but there was absolutely no doubt that the most anticipated part of the show was the discussion between jack. Dorsey kathy would andy mosque with steve lee from square crypto. Moderating as i said yesterday on the show the whole thing had come up theoretically spontaneously on twitter with ilan making a joke. On one of jack's threads at least that's what we were made to think. It seems far more likely to me that the whole thing was engineered by would herself. Who was up until very recently the connective link between ilan in the bitcoin. Space whatever the providence of the discussion however. There is no doubt that the market had serious anticipation around what was going to be said. Bitcoin had rallied from under thirty thousand dollars on tuesday to around thirty two thousand dollars as the discussion began. I think the best way to highlight the event is to go person by person and give a little sense of the highlights of what they discussed from there. I can provide a bit more of the shared. Sense of how the discussion proceeded.

Indianapolis Colts, Darius Leonard Working on Lucrative Contract Extension

"Is now the highest paid linebacker in football at five years. $95 Million.19 a year But he's probably only going to hold on to that title. Steve for Short period of time because when the Colts signed Darius Leonard to his contract extension It's going to be for more money than that. Probably 100 million upwards of that. Yeah, and it'll it'll be quite the extension. Tremaine Edmunds is sitting there watching that as well, knowing that sooner or later, he's going to sign his extension. We're waiting on the Josh Alex is that season. Where they can get this done before the season begins. They've got a handle on what the cap is going to be this year and going forward. It will go up from there.

Dolly Parton Poses in Playboy Outfit for Husband’s Birthday

"In a Playboy Bunny outfit for her husband's Um, so she presented her husband, Carl, who we never see with a memorial. I'm sorry, not a memorial birthday present a memorable birthday present by recreating the iconic 1978 Playboy cover picture that she was a part of it The time she did an original photo shoot in. 78 became the first country singer to pose for the magazine. So she didn't show too much because it wasn't about Nudity. It was really about promoting her brand, and so I think we have a little audio of her talking about it on instagram. Today is July. 20 is my husband Carl's birthday and you're probably wondering why I'm dressed like this one is for my husband's birthday. Remember sometime back I said I was going to pose on the Playboy magazine 75. Well, I'm 75. They don't have a magazine anymore. My husband always loved the original cover. Fire. Oy. So I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy. He still thinks I'm hot chick every 37 years and I'm not gonna try to talk him out of that. And I hope he agreed. What do you think, anyway? What I did for his birthday? I did a little photo shoot in just all outfit, and, uh, I had a cover made. Of the new Dolly, the old new darling, and in the first one say, Remember this. I was kind of a little butter ball in that one about extreme cheese. Now he'll probably think I'm cream cheese. I hope

The two stories because stephen interesting encounter with billy. He didn't know billy but later in his life. After stephen come to christ he found out he had cancer. He was unable to get any kind of treatment. There was nothing they can do from the hospitals here so we actually went for some very an orthodox treatments done in mexico. And he requested that his pastor leonard dewitt would try to get hold of billy. Graham khazei would like to meet billy. Billy very gracious took time out of his schedule. Why Are People on so Many Prescription Drugs?

"Hello and welcome back to health quest. Podcast i'm your host steve langford. Thanks for joining me. I'm glad you're here. I have what i think is perhaps the most important topic that i've covered that i want to convey to you that i think could have the most impact on your understanding of your health situation and how important it is to understand the medications that you're being offered by your doctor. And what is the value. The real purpose of these medications. And what can you expect from them. I think this is such an important topic. Because i encounter people frequently. Who say i have high blood pressure. I have high cholesterol and my doctor is gonna put me on these drugs and i don't know that i want to be on these drugs. A lot of people feel that way but we also don't feel like we have enough information to make that decision on our own. The statistics that we often hear about the benefits of these drugs are rather startling and they make it sound as if we are all in danger of having an episode from high blood pressure stroke heart disease brittle bone high cholesterol and heart disease. And we think that these things are imminent in our lives because we have an elevated number. Our blood pressure is elevated are bone density as low. Our cholesterol is high. And so we don't quite understand. The context in which these drugs are designed to benefit us and to what degree they will benefit us

What Made Sweden's Asa Danielsson Fall in Love Wih Flamenco?

"It's a long way. From stockholm to seville but it never damped danielsson's lifelong enthusiasm for the fiery traditions of andalucia today. She teaches the art of flamenco dancing in between tour guiding in sweden and spain forsa welcome back to travel with rick. Steves thank you so hundred dish woman. Get all excited about flamenco. It's the opposite end of europe. It is that is for sure. I was a little girl. When somehow i picked up the flank existed. And when i went to spain for the first time with my mother i was six years old i told my mother i went to see flamenco and i saw these women and they were so strong and passionate and i decided i wanted to be flamingo as i had no idea what it meant but that dream i kept it alive through my whole childhood. I bought this little doll. You know with the polkadot dress and everything in plastic doll and headed a home. Like little alter and i knew that i was going to be a flamenco dancer. When i was big you were you. Were six year a little bit older than now. Yeah are you dancing. Or what fleming in your life today teaching performing i was the president of the swedish fleming society for some ten years of organized festivals of organized workshops. I've been tour manager of one of the most famous fleming dancers. All all that you can think of. I cannot think of any two more opposite. Cultures in a temperament kind of wave of sweden and southern spain is the heartland of flamenco. I think it's opposites attract and actually. Spain is the favourite countries of the swedes to visit to travel to. And why would that be. I think it's that got although this has. The son has the laid back Passionate lifestyle that you need a little doses of every year. Exactly exactly. maybe you don't wanna have all of it all the time. You want a little bit more structure and calm so you can go down and have it and then you go back to your normal senior regimentation efficiency.

"steve us" Discussed on 760 KFMB Radio

"The meantime just got to hang out with us but guess what I did some really cool yesterday eagle rock no I haven't okay I'll talk about eagle rock in a little but the way to get to eagle rock is you go through power and then you go through Ramona and the whole time along I'm seein mayor Steve lost sight mayors device for supervisor mayor Steve us all the way out keep going keep going eagle rocks all the way out more springs I don't know if the district was out for but I keep seeing signs all along I went to the Spring Valley swap meet this and and I saw a boss for mayor or supervisor sign there the guys everywhere now and I I that's all I I don't want to have them on skis with this now Steve are you just put signs everywhere what's going on here I got a lot of people are in for signs I I'm not sure it's because they like me what you think really like the song does whatever no problem if you use it for target practice I don't care here's a side just taken place well I don't know if I'd go that there's the vase with this is right for San Diego county supervisor seat to Steve you're twenty two days away if you finish in the top two then you go on the November are you are you happy are you in full time mode where are you in this campaign because I feel like it's been two years you've been running it feels like yeah and you don't it really has almost been two years since I cranked up this machine and fun you know the district as you intimated two thousand square miles the state of Delaware and I'm just going all over the place living with folks we're down in lakeside over the weekend some folks had a barbecue it I told them they are going to be the official barbecue of district to listen homemade barbecue that was just to die I'm always curious candidates whether it's you know you run for supervisor run for mayor what it whatever it is what are you doing on like a weekend are you are you meet with folks where are you going to cut if you don't mind taking us through some of what that looks like yeah weekends are are jam packed yesterday I was out in the lake side like I mentioned on Saturday I was a deputy sheriff's memorial of after next weekend I think I've got for eventual weekend after that five minutes nonstop but it's so much fun because you get to see corners of the county that most folks don't get to see and you get to meet the real people around San Diego county that I just love spending time with yeah yeah you know you're so right you go out and that was actually something that my dad doing something completely different but when he would go out do stories it's it's so great to go to remote and you meet this person to go to Spring Valley and you go you go over here and you really get to see people and I thought you see because I was driving out to Warm Springs yesterday I was on the sixty seven and you know you sit in the sand bag meetings and a question that's always brought up when talking about public transportation as well who actually took public transportation or who actually took their bike here and I want to come back and say Lee takes the sixty seven any it's about doctors through what's going on it said dad what you're trying to do their you know we've been fighting hard for the sixty seven the the sixty seven the improvements that have belonged been promised there by five many folks way before my time are critical not only for for moving people around the county you get a lot of people from each county coming up to sixty seven to work in power away or or be that kind of thing but even more critical for me is the fact that the sixty seven is he a scan crap when there's a fire Ramona Julian or Santa Isabel are you talking about Warner springs you sixty seven this is the primary way to get out and we're gonna have lanes so those folks can get out but also lane for first responders can get in so I was really proud of a couple months ago we were able to get a budget amendment at Tran deck to dedicate ninety million dollars to improve the sixty seven the fifty two the ninety four one twenty five interchange alike some improvements on the seventy eight so we're moving in the right direction but a long ways to go yeah diesel it's a tough fight I've seen it in action Steve you're down there you're fighting a tough tough piece it with that Hey Steve some we talk about when to bring a little lighter who we talking campaign mode kills by candlelight first fights an honor for me to just be a small small small part about it but I heard a rumor do you have to have final numbers are exactly even if not final numbers kind of a ballpark of what you guys were able to do this year and and years previous yeah you know we the last few years so cash just the the four years prior to this we raised well over two hundred thousand dollars and with you slightly over in the fifties each year and I think we're going to match that if not topic this year I'm gonna know in the next couple days and you play a much bigger part than you let on our street come just to see you Lone Star reporter hazel Kenny Loggins they want the miles that's right well I will say Steve a lot of a lot of people go to that event and they say Hey I saw you up there they don't ever say anything after that they never say oh who was good that I saw there was a I know what they say afterwards what were you wearing and that's not the worst thing that could say about it Steve what for someone sitting with their ballot right now in a and they're saying okay I don't know there's some people in the race in this district to race that there's maybe someone that I like maybe there's someone I there's two candidates are like there's maybe there's there's someone I'm not so sure about maybe there someone that say Hey I don't know much about power way I leave in the east county I don't know what what what do you tell those folks Walt Disney one candidate I like and who refuse that's us the boss me and it's a simple reason there's only one candidate in the race who actually has executive leadership experience in getting things done in the community it you know it's it's no surprise to anybody I hope this power is consistently the safest city in the county that were ranked number one to raise a family we take a conservative fiscal approach to everything we do that's what allows us to do something like we're gonna do next week we'll breaking ground I actually get to drive a bulldozer start to demolish rural community center and we're building a brand new intergenerational community center that we are paying ten million dollars cash you know it's funny we we take care of business yeah that is so funny because I hear that no like wow Steve that's amazing but that's the way it should be done right there but you were one of the only cities that that that ever does that does that you don't normally if you're taking a bond you're doing it this year your tattoo more you just say here we've got the money we raise the money and here's what we're gonna spend we are are never raise taxes and can't wait never well darn proud of that you know we're all to say that how way represents a great blueprint for the rest of the county I don't want the rest of the county to be like how we and you know in the community feel and I but I do want to take what we do in terms of the fundamentals the conservative fiscal thing the safe city best roads in the county and those are the things that I want to bring to the rest of the county and nobody else in the race can say that or point to that yeah yeah that's true Steve Voss mayor power running for di county supervisor district to Steve thanks for coming on keep up keep up the spirit you sound energized to keep going I feel great good to talk to you and look forward to seeing you if not before them next December for Carol for killing his number thirty once can't wait Steve I appreciated vostfr supervisor dot com Steve Austin for county supervisor district number two it was very we're talking about said deck there and you know you're talking about one of the big things and go to understand dag is you know they want more bike lanes in downtown San Diego and I'm not saying you know Steve the one sitting there fighting for it there's a few others fighting for but it's the two of us the mayor it's imperial beach mayor it's the mayor San Diego it's Georgette Gomez it's these people that want these bike lanes downtown and so you know do we need to take more public transportation meanwhile I guarantee you none of those people have written that have gone on the sixty seven could you they could even tell you where the sixty seven is I have no idea you know they don't realize it's illegal county which is supposedly what sand Agra presents the entire county goes for a long time goes out to break a springs goes up to Oceanside to get better the goes all throughout the county but instead they're in their little bubble of their five square mile radius and that's it and that's it so when a hundred seven sixty five three six to do Steve all she's done an excellent job in that amazing characters that thirty six yeah we have ten million dollars so in Pensacola will know what what tax are you gonna like are you gonna do big time hotel tax yeah it's a no no we we have we have ten million dollars in the bank and that the project cost ten million dollars how they expected to be ten million dollars so we're gonna okay so what bond is a bond you know the the home where you know you got it is of no no no have money it's kind of like for instance if like you the normal person would want to buy you know if you were going to rush off at your house now you wouldn't take out a bond you would say I have you know ten thousand extra Four eight four that's four eight four zero four eight nine and we'll make sure we were the reward isn't that? Hey, Steve us get back. Let's talk about some of the change the direction your leadership. We've know it takes time. It takes. Persistence diligence a lot of obedience out. Then today itself, we talk a great deal about obedience and they beatings from above. But let's talk about the change. You've you sounds like your heartfelt from the from the children, and that's really what brought you to eighty without a doubt what things themselves currently right now that you putting in place. All right. And that you're doing right now at the change the direction the life of the children eighty. Well, we we have a school. Like, I say, oh what saying we have a school of elementary school of two hundred kids tour, which I had I had this ticked opportunity and fledged. Yeah. Without a doubt. They're wonderful kids been great kids. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to to help that community out these two hundred kids whom would not have gone to school because either their parents couldn't pay them. I mean people their age Gatien. Oh, I don't know. But two hundred kids were we able with the help of so many friends in partners, which was still trying to reach out to some partners to help us even do more. So incredible. K we have a school for about two hundred kids in a place called me umbrella again in Haiti okay, we have about another fifty kids. But also, what's the age groups do your school? From kindergarten to elementary so from three to about thirteen fourteen deal suburban and after thirteen fourteen what happens to the the children from their well from there. We are hoping to grow with the school moving from elementary to middle school into high school because eagerly makes those saints to you teach the kid, okay now, you have an elementary education. Okay. Go find you a job there. Well, it's not going to work. It's not gonna work. So we will trying to build a a school full blown high school on top of that. We also have a trade school he'll deal. Superb trade school has about fifty young men and women again, the many of them have difficulties going to university. They can't afford it. There's no space for them. So I'm sure I'm sure hit has a university. Somewhere. Yes, they have one university wants state university one state university and the rest of it is private school. Wow. So what do you do when you have no funds and no money Khurana xactly at schools for the haves? All right. So now, we're putting tech trades in. All right. So they can actually learn computer tiling good electrically plumbing being building exists nature. Superb. That's excellent already and what's the reception of the community? What's the reception of the people? I'm sure it's huge. Something from nothing or to now really building in developing really confident or structure out there that people see that there could be a lot of the times. Absolutely. It's it's unfortunate. We have to turn over people who want to get engaged being on. Again. We don't have the means to to open it up. But really we have a community that really could benefit from from that trickle through. So we talk about this birth of a mission. Okay. Um? No, definitely no small undertaking car without a doubt. "Hello. Hello. Hello. You know, it may seem the obvious. But it's not easy getting older innocent sci-fi that may be marginalizing you and continually telling you, you can't do it. One of my favorite lines is all the people who said it couldn't be done. Get out of the way, the people who are doing it. And right now, we have with a Steve Duran. He is the publisher editor I really important forum really important collaboration where people in the field of senior housing get together and share with each other and learn from each other, and that's great for the industry. But honestly, it's more important for the rest of us. Because if we are going to be able to age a place, that's fine. When the time comes that, we may want to move and maybe age in place in a different type of place, whether it's assisted living or CCS's or over fifty five communities we really want to be the final arbiter of how we live. And so we should be influencing. This particular industry as much as it's influencing us. And that's what Steve Moran is hoping will happen and has happened through senior housing forum. If you wanna know more about it could having forum dot net the easier, you're gonna read some fascinating things. And because we were at the end of a segment I did ask Steve what did he want to bring out? So that was one thing that didn't go missing from that conversation. And I was thrilled to hear his answer. Was he wants to talk a little bit about life purpose? So you're on Steve US thinker in this particular area. What they call a thought leader. Let's see what you have to say. You bet. So I go to our buildings, and I spend a lot of time doing that. I think it's really important that I actually going communities and and just see what's happening. What if feels like? And if you won't pretend I'm a consumer or it really helps me to write about into think about her. But one of the most distressing things that happens to me is that when I'm talking to a sales and marketing people or even leaders in building we'll say, this is a great great place. It's like a cruise ship or it's like, a luxury hotel, and you I heard that you think that would really really be. That's great. I mean, can you imagine living the rest of your life on a cruise ship or in a luxury hotel sort of business side, I actually met somebody who lives full-time this past thanksgiving? I was on a cruise, and I met a woman who lives full-time on cruise ships, and I didn't like over much. So I don't know whether that was because you live full partner because she's there because she can change friends every week or two. But anyway, so, but when I hear that I always it always makes me cringe because imagine for minute somebody came to you and said, hey, I'm gonna give you a. Two weeks on the most luxurious cruise ship. This today. Anything? That'd be really really cool. But if I venture, oh, this it's not quite like that. You actually are gonna never be able to get off includes shipping again, most of us would not want to do that. Because what we would know is both our bodies and our minds would be come out trophy. Because people would do everything for us. We absolutely know that when people have purpose whether they're giving back or they're learning things where they're making a difference in other people's lives. They have better happier healthier lives in the evidence that when you have purpose of your wife, you actually not only be healthier, but you live longer and the industry is bidding better than that direction. Moving in a direction where we're spending more time in the area. We've still got a long way to go. But if I were out looking for community that would be really. Really high on my list is to make sure there were opportunities to still get involved. So being able to volunteer. Their volunteers place else continues to take classes, maybe even lose things how to paint how out of the scope having kids come in. I can to tutor or entrepreneurs come in. I could mentor so many opportunities out there. And we're just I think just beginning to explore that. You know, I I believe that's so at my core at my core. And what you're saying is extremely evocative on many levels. I do travel one of the things that I write a lot about is travel, and I have a whole series of lectures, and for the Taliban industry that higher talk about somebody called the ageless traveler, and actually it can't be even cheaper to live on a cruise ship. They have medical attention. They have many things however after twenty days on a cruise ship. I would like to be buried at sea. I have absolutely you. I cannot do that. I cannot live purposely. No matter how comfortable, and I think most people can't leisure does kill one of the articles on the aging beginners is don't be busy blissful. Everybody's trying to be busy after they retire with these little petty things. They're really not feeling. The bliss. They could if they gave to others, and I know it's easy to say. "Thursday of this week steve us it unleash and sam roberts was in podcast and it's all journalism and i think again you'll find that it's all journalism show fascinating if you're interested more in my back story and how the torch came to be and how it has evolved over the years i wanna hit a couple of bonus emails as i said here to round out the friday show tony said i am super happy you are on podcast one thank you tony i am to what would you say if a biannual draft was proposed lake the rick flair era but once every two years to spice up the fans about new matchups without losing how special the draft is i feel like it needs to be an event instead of just to shake up because wrestling fans want to be told when something especial in order for them to believe it is i i i get what you're saying i think that doing a full draft is a little dangerous potentially ill advised from a booking standpoint because what you want with the the reason the superstar shakeup is advantageous and i don't think they explained it particularly well i think it was implied how it worked which was danuberhine and shame mcmahon sought sat opposite of of kurt angle and then negotiated rates and you can match up the talent that move from one branded the other and come up with a pretty good gifts of who was traded for who or who was treated for whom just talked about it's all journalism owning a grammar it and if you.
