"One four five three one eleven twenty. I got a pair of tickets to see the cardinals take on the Padres on April the seventh that is this coming Sunday three one four five three one eleven twenty caller number two. I was thinking back about our interview at Tim. Vich? I gotta tell you. I have great appreciation for ten fit. She is a lot like Claire mccaskill and that he's never afraid to go and answer some questions from the media. And he was kind enough to join us this morning, John and having read his tweet this morning, which was saying about the dysfunctionality that's taking place in county government between the county council and the county executive coupled with the investigation he's calling on Steve Stangl to resign. Now. When pressed about the investigation, he says, well that that really doesn't something I'm necessarily interested in it's more of this dysfunctionality. But here's my issue with that, Tim Fitch was elected quite handily to the county council and one of the things he talked about was wanting to bring stability and order back to county government staggered was also retained by the voters as well as the county executive, and I thought it was a little questionable for Tim, which Tim Fitch to be out there questioning the amount. Of money that we have to spend on elections when it's the county council. That's putting those elections to the people. It's essentially blaming somebody else for what your chosen to do which is changed the county charter, which is no insignificant thing. Yeah. And outfits pointed out he voted against this most recent issue that's going to be on the ballot. I guess tomorrow April. The second is election day municipal election day in Saint Louis. And, but you know, I think it's the most the most gracious thing you can say about county government right now is it. It's a mess. I mean from top to bottom. It's it's a mess. I think we can agree that the county councils now operating like some wealthy Russian oiled machine here. And it's been a massive quite some time. Now, you now you can you can assign blame you could you could say it's Steve singers fault. You could say it's it's the county councils false same page, and and those members you could you could share blame I guess with with both. But what's not arguable is that I can't remember a time in my lifetime that Saint Louis county government has been this dysfunctional ever. And and that's something that affects all of us in Steve thing or has issues. But folks, if we're going to start to say, hey, there's dysfunctionality between the executive branch and the legislative branch, guess what that's politics. I mean, that's taking place right now in DC where we have divided government with the president controlled by the Republicans in the house of Representative controlled by Democrats. That's costing us issues. We're not getting focused on us up even in Jefferson sitting on the Republicans control. All aspects accounting of the state government, but they don't get along. So anytime, there's this consternation between the executive branch and the legislative branch we're supposed to call them. One of them to resign. I mean, don't elections have consequences, and that's really part of the beauty of our system of government. You know, the the founders when they put this thing together back in the seventeen eighty s when they put this thing together, they came to it with some basic understandings of human nature and one of them is that people are greedy and they're selfish in their self interested in they're going to pursue their own gain at the expense of others in so recognizing that being part of human nature. They created a a system that pitted in James Madison's own words ambition against ambition in. So you've got these three co equal and separate branches of government that collide and. It's it's they collide not because you know, something's wrong, necessarily, they collide. Because that's what it's designed to do in that friction between an executive and a legislative branch ultimately produces a better policy outcome. I should and but it's to be expected because it's by design. Well, let's be Frank. These things got his issues. Right. We've all been watching it for years now. And then most recently this investigation, you know, but in his art his letter that he tweets out today. He says now we have a federal investigation looting over county government. My experience tells me that investigation will be prolonged even without federal subpoenas an investigation lily little positive is occurring. And you're counting government. Something must give. Well, I mean doesn't Steve stagger. Who look he's got issues. And I don't know how he comes through all the stuff, but. He backed away from that. He said, well, that's not really the emphasis of what I'm asking Steve standard or resign. It's because we all can't get along. I that sounds more like sour grow grapes than and I kind of feel like this is a political stunt. Well, that would be my take I'll tell you one thing though, as it as it relates to all of this here is that I would think that there's some sense in which having the investigation. Now, we all know this investigations going on that ought to be able to relieve some of the tension. I would think because you've had up to this point to county council kind of doing its own investigation, and they're doing subpoenas and calling people in and so forth. The fact that we know the feds are in here Feser going to get to the truth. Totally they're gonna find out exactly what if anything was going on in what happened. And I think I mean, if it were me, I would take that investigation as all right? All of that stuff's going to get handled. Let's let's do our job. Let's get down to business. Let's make this thing work. So then we transitioned to the topic with chief Fitch now the county councilman in Saint Louis county about these police chases that are taking place in Sainte Anne, and they seem to be almost regularly. Happening. Specifically was seen in John was horrible consequences that have come there of this. Is this a real problem these police should I think it is ticking time bomb, and you know, if you're if you're engaging in a high speed chase because somebody's got an expired license plate. I gotta believe that's just wrong. The problem. Of course, we have in Saint Louis county is that the those police departments are independent of one another that is policy in Saint Anne to engage in those high speed chases for broken tail lights, or whatever it may be. And I don't wanna put words in the correct me if I'm wrong, he didn't agree with the policy that the chief. No, he didn't so Mike my tongue in cheek reference to them is is that will now it's causing deaths it's causing chaos and Saint Louis counties. Should we have that police chief resigned full? He said he was elected by the people elected officials say who cares? It's and, but man, you you know, that is that's the kind of thing where you would hope that there's some governing body that would have a thirty to be able to shut down something that is patently dangerous and life threatening and for not a really good purpose. And I don't want to allow this moment to expire because you know, we often. Saint Louis since have grown up kind of making fun of city government, right? The mortem aldermen the consternation that continues there that we've had so many issues that have made both local and national headlines inside a city government. I gotta tell ya city government looks like a well oiled machine. The compared to the the stuff that's going on pal. Let me when you look at this this county council. I mean, look it's not like you have a county council that unanimously agreeing on everything that you've got people who are introducing bills passing them. And then coming back later and saying I really didn't know what was in my own Bill. I mean, I think you got to kind of take a look at it yourself before you start making the allegations of others. Let's check in on the phone lines. And gophers to Floyd Floyd, you're on kmox. Hey. Good morning guys morning Floyd. You were talking about the police chases. Yeah. And they shouldn't be involved for chasing, someone fired license plates and so on so. That's true. And the reason they should be because they should have been arrested along time ago or having. Expired plates. Napoli chase for that. All right. Thanks floyd. And that's of course, one at Charlie's pet peeves. You got all these temporary tags out there, then expire and the dirty little secret is drive around with a temporary tag. You never had to pay your sales tax people are avoiding I'm with Charlie on that. We all have to pay our taxes, if you have the privilege of owning an automobile, that's part of the cost of having it the law is there to be enforced, and and that's what we've gotta deal. Let's see what's on the mind of Cindy this morning. Cindy, you're on came wax morning morning. Listening to you with Finch. And I remember just a few weeks ago. Charlie had an interview with stinger about why he doesn't show up at the county council meetings, and he just moaning and groaning wind devout. He's so overworked, and you put so many hours in which things are things are a mess. I voted for him both time. And I don't think he's doing his job. I'm with a with with chief Finch. I think we need somebody else to step in and I wouldn't vote for him again ever recall Sunday common. He's had enough time for one more L squeeze it in ever so quickly. Dan, you've got the last word, whatever it may be welcome to came lacks. Hey, guys. Down.
