"Is your plan? What? You don't have one? Well, listen to the program. All right, There's going to be an opportunity to get on the counter with Steve Shaman. It will say financial, no cost or obligation and you can get started. Now if you've already started and you've got questions about what's going on inside your portfolio, and you've been afraid to ask, maybe you feel like you're too locked into your current advisor. Well, a second opinion is the way to go. Let somebody else take a look at what's going on. And maybe those fees and commissions will come out and you go. Wow. Maybe I need to make a switch. Maybe I need to pit it. So second opinion, The spots will be open for you as well. So listen up for that opportunity. Steve Again. I'm Morgan Patrick Consumer Advocate Steve. I just want to kind of jump back into this because inflation is at the forefront right now, because we're hovering around that 5% market is going to impact and you've got some interesting stats for us. Well, I do because you know what our retirement income stream does face an uphill battle, And that's why I personally believe in so many of our clients feel comfortable having part of their portfolio, giving them guaranteed income for life that can actually increase with inflation. Because so many people we really want to maintain our standard of living in retirement. We don't want to have to cut back to make ends meet. We worked our whole life for that money. We want that money to Do you know Payback, pass back and give us a happy, healthy stress free retirement and understanding how inflation will affect us can can motivate people to have money and safe buckets that can't run out. So let's talk about that. Okay, Let's do it and I think you've got different categories for us. So where we going to start first? Well, first of all, if you know, let's say that it costs you $100,000 a year to live today, okay? And that could be for you or you and your spouse is just that's your household requirement. And you might wonder well and that with the standard 3% inflation how much will I need and 10 years 20 years, 30 years and and the number. It's a little bit surprising, because if you need $100,000 today in 10 years, you're going to need 134,000 to keep up. Wow. In 20 years. You need 180 to keep up. And in 30 years you need 242,000 year to keep up And that's when it's at 3%, which is kind of where it's kind of hovered between what 2012 and 2020, but we've had that tick up this year, and we kind of know why There's been a lot going on, but we're hovering around 5%, and that's been the last three months. Well, let's talk about what 5% would look like Morgan and this is shocking. This is big number. So if you're if you're living on 100,000 today, and inflation is at 5% and 10 years, you need 163,000 to do what you're doing today. In 20 years you need 265,000. And in 30 years you need over $400,000 a year and people that are listening to this show. I don't think one in 10 will be working in 20 or 30 years. You're going to be retired living on your money. So if you're not preparing for this up front, you could get unpleasantly surprised and not have enough money As you get older as you're not working. And that's why guaranteed income for life that can increase with inflation is so important. I mean, you think about this, folks. I mean, you hit that retirement switch and you're on a fixed income, You know? How are you set? Moving forward. I mean, just looking at those numbers that Steve Sherman just gave us. I mean, 3% inflation is kind of where we have been. And if you're at 100,000, you know, in 10 years you're going to need 100 and 34,000. You know, in 20 years it's 180,000. And in 30 years, it's 242,000. You know if you're making that 100,000, so you have to plan for that. And now we're in the 5% range right now. That may go down. It actually may go up to we don't know. But 5% 10 years from now is 162,000, based on making 100,000 and then to 65 20 years and then a whopping 432,000. And in 30 years based on that 5%. We don't know what the inflation is going to do, But we do know what it's doing right now. It's ticked up to right around that 5% over the last three months, so it has to be a huge concern. And as you mentioned, Steve, you know having your money safe is key. And I don't think inflation is going away. In fact, over the last 50 years, there's only been one year that we haven't had an increase in inflation. And here's some facts like healthcare in 2000. We spent 1.4 trillion on it in 2019 what 3.8 trillion 270% increase In in what we spend on healthcare. And a lot of people are excited today about money in the stock market. The market's been going up for over 12 years now. But some people think that the market that stock prices are frothy. And here's a really good way to understand how expensive stacks are relative to our earnings because in 2000 and 2000, the market wasn't an all time high, just like it is today. But we had that tech bubble burst and people lost 50% of their savings. And it took really 12 years before you made new money after the tech bubble burst, and I don't know if our listeners could afford Those kind of wild swings in their portfolio, and a lot of people even think it can't happen on one hand, but we know it will happen on the other hand, and that's why it's so important to make step..

"Going route to sprint turf to to pita doing a lot of different things dropping of 4000 non winners of Lifetime. Uh, two races for the first time gets the leading jockey Pedro Terrero. You've got to look at that, so he's going route to Sprint. Dropping down to this level and has numbers that could do some damage. So number 10 6 to 1 seems like a good price. That's why we included him at the top call. Number four persistent. He came off a double line lay off, he'd been off for over a year and a half. Came back at the very bottom level $2500 claimers and ran a decent race showed some speed. For Bill Delia was claimed out of that race by same Calvario, who hit the 24% with its first off the claim, So that's a good angle there. First off the claim for the trainer. He put them in this race restricted. The non winners of two lifetime finds a good spot. And I think persistent could be, um, pretty pretty speedy from up front. And hold on there. So 10 4 to 11 was our ninth race plays. But again, that's a grab bag race. You might want to do one of those exact boxes in the big field and hope to get lucky. So, uh, had do a chance to look at any particular race for tomorrow. Labor Day. I do. I'm a best fit for tomorrow and then a value bet for tomorrow. The best right being the night and so in the ninth race tomorrow would be our best bet. That's gonna be 4000 non orders of two to close out the day tomorrow. Those are thrilled and up Phillies and I think cold Brew Kelly for Steve Sherman. Coming in there. She is the morning line favorite, but I think you can build some tickets and really key her here. She's really well met in this spot. She's been running on turf for her last four. She goes back to Topeka, but which she has shown that she likes. And cold brew. Kelly, uh, should be the one there. Um, number number three in the ninth race tomorrow Number three Cold brew Kelly, the best bet over the other Steve Sherman play. Cocoa Sense number four. So I was a number three was the best bet tomorrow and then in the fourth rate We have a mile for starter allowance believe And I like at a price. I like 10 to 1. Lorraine's Legacy Number four. Over a number five torque. A 2 to 1 tomorrow, so value bet of the day. I think it's 10 to 1 on Lorraine's Legacy Number four in the fourth. And the other horse we like in that race is the five Tor case so value play. They're getting from 10 to 1 on Labor Day, and that's about to end the day. So a little bit of Little bit of Little bit of Hopefully, Labour day winning there. All right. Tell us how you can get a hold of, uh, the speed figures dot com We put out a daily sheet with those picks. We also We also love to play the pick Fours and the pick five. So if you're into that, I think that's the best bet at the track. Are the 50 Cent pick fours and pick five were definitely, um, we put out our sheet definitely with that in mind, but we give our top three picks in every race. And that's always available at speed figures dot com. The website and today's We're giving out today's report..

"And torrey pines on saturday well a couple of couple of oddballs. At least bring up. The and i mentioned yesterday when i gave everybody a quick Blueprint of the the racist beside the classic. I'm so anna. From steve sherman. That arrived down here and one the fleet treat and doesn't necessarily well she. May i guess she does kind of need. Need the lead to win. That's been her. that's been really her. Oh when she's been successful. I guess going back to that breaker at at Low sow but that was five furlongs. she she stopped but i'm so anna not impossible here. The most accomplished billy in the deal. She's a multiple stakes where a minor restricted stakes races. She can ran long and if she can avoid a jewel with private mission. I think private mission is a little bit quicker. I'm so honored. So i'm so. Honored could conceivably get a really comfortable trip that he second behind private mission and private mission cannot gave trip will then. I'm so honored we'll get i. I'm so honored my third preference in the race. I respect her. Because she's a four-time winner multiple stakes winner and she can get the trip so you know she has. I think she has to be on your ticket unless your loved ones to stretch out. And i'm not well. What other stretch out to mention just because he's so effective although he's struggled down here so far this summer. Jonathan wong one for twenty six coming into this week and day. Plan for tommy town Coming off of an allowance win at pleasanton and before that maiden breaker golden gate but You know from a standpoint brad Also a kind of a nibble that that's within range of the obvious players while she's also getting better each of her each of star has been a little bit better than the one before according to fire speed figures. Nice win last time out of the pleasanton and you're right about jonathan very bizarre because when you're handicapping northern california you know anytime that one has to start. You have to take a second. Look at del mar top. I remember for years when jerry honduras. Who was the king of california. Would come down to del mar and get his head handed to them summer. After summer and then he finally decided to focus on southern california and then he began to raise for debt in a way. Kinda similar with jonathan. Want he's star in northern california but devin california's a completely different surrogate is tougher and long had a little bit of a difficult time. Getting things going at the rate that we expect them to see based on his northern california Situation so wanna come out of it not having a good summer but that can change in a hurry. Five seconds though and five third so the this is sort of the mo that we received from george weaver back at saratoga. George was was A one for and the ad. I think this going into this week. He had like eight seconds. So some some of that is you know is like roulette just having the peg fall. I imagined brad. The as we turn to the del mar mile. I imagined big ticket players are going to hit the all button in this thing. You're talking about the mile. I couldn't agree with you more. No no no no in the in the torrey pines. I think if you're playing picks you have to have every silly into race. Yeah on at least a substitute ticket exactly might plus with the two favorites. Which is probably what. I'll end up doing but you have to use them all because it just looks like one of those races with so much. Uncertainty can't be positive what might happen. I agree. Let's turn to that del mar mile and i said the i think yesterday i added up the winds and i think thirty seven wins between these six combatants in the mile. The really really good field. I mean you talk about some veterans. And they're all doing what they do. Bhaskar most of them are anyway and run a mile on grass a mile. One eight was probably a little bit too. Far last time out for smooth like straight hit. The road loves del mar runs. Well brash. Hit the road and smooth like straight both grade one winners out a mile on turf but when you get right down to it. Who's the best horse in the race. It he came in off a seven month layoff in this race last year and win a mile and thirty three and he came right back of a few weeks later and ran a mile. In one thirty two at sanity mo- foursome might have been the favourite in the breeder's cup mile last fall but he got hurt. He was sidelined since then. He's coming back off a ten month. Layoff this time. Peter miller had him ready to roll. Ignore said he's quote goods now He's kind of bradshaw. He's always started twelve times but when he runs his race and he usually does He's one top. I think he's the most probable winner. I think he's most probable winter. It depicts sex. I'm gonna probably end up singling him at least automate ticket. I think that that is just too good for hit the road and smooth like straight and this course did summer at del mar has been soap. Closers been an anti speed course like never seen before f time and time again. Rap routes are one off the pace. And that's how moore's he runs. Well fresh she's faster sourcing the race. I'll be surprised more than not right there finishing the dome well a and you're there is there was one story and i should have asked peter mill yesterday when we saw. Maybe we'll see you later this morning and joel rosario is coming to town and I i have guess. Even as as accomplished as flavian pratt is and he's had plenty of success on mo four. If berry was with us as something tells me berry would have insisted. That joel gets a ride. Mo four is a back Being in town very we'll be watching the gravy on. He'll be spirit. That's exactly exactly. Well it just happy. Just flat to get mo- fours back In this back into the peace. hey brad. it's rick you're checking in Sitting next to see. I first second and we wanted to just say hi to you and and and this is this interesting race here at the six pack really always talk about horses for courses and not just on the dirt here. Is you know this turf courses just had some quirks and we see a lot of horses over the years that run runwell everywhere and don't perform well here but every one of these. Every one of these colts has a win over the track. So you know he could throw at that angle. Love your stuff about mo- fours smooth like straight. I think is the horse to beat going a mile a really liked. That name reminds me of a name. I saw a long time ago. Hot like sauce. I'm trying to figure out smooz like straight love it. If you're looking for a play there there's a there's another horse in here in a five count again. Fill d'amato kind under the radar. Joe bravo rides has a couple races. that If if if some of these others falter you're going to get a decent price on him. He has won a stake here. Last year. last november he went to sea biscuit. I like that coming from well off the pace so I wanted to just throw him in. And and you know On c. ticket. Maybe as a shot. If if the race falls apart he could become and i had an interesting stat. That i'm sure you you. You saw two brackets. You're one of these you you look at everything of the ninety four horses enter today. Fifty one of them was seven trainers. So wow You know you have the baffert. Bob baffert baltas phil d'amato mark klatt richard mandela mike mccarthy and peter miller have fifty one of the ninety four races so a horse races. So you're going to see them sprinkled.

"Welcome back to the golf gambling podcast. I'm your host. Steve sherman i'm ryan solo tonight and you might be role. Were my co host. Boston capper is while he's about seventeen. Margaritas jinzhong steve. Because it is his birthday today to go with him on twitter a very happy seventy fifth birthday for that old guy so we'll talk about the olympics with him Tomorrow i had a outstanding weekend. I think i'd i've had a hunch. That zander was going to win the olympics. For a couple of weeks now so i better pre-tournament that came out with aces and had a couple of things go my way to so. Yeah my bankroll is doing. Pretty good i had the wc so but we have a rare pg. We're stop not a rare. Pg tour wgc's it's great field kind of a you know average vanilla golf course but we'll get to that later while we start with the field who's actually playing this event so a lot of guys play the olympics last week and our flying overplay the wc basically. They got nor get a free paycheck. I think that's why most of them are here. So obviously zander's shaath lee. Who won tokyo last week. Let's see we carry momentum. He got justin. Thomas cromwell cower worry maccarone victor holland echinacea patch read lots of heavy hitters in that list. who can win. Wc i think of those. You got one three four six eight yet ten. W she's c wins between just that list alone but about the guys tend to win. Wgc's it's for me. It's gonna interesting to see how these guys recover from playing in hot oppressive tokyo weather and then flying eighteen hours east to play in hot oppressive weather. Conditions the memphis. You know. we'll see how much energy they got. But i think the guys watch are the guys who are going to be fresh coming in to this event and when you have a horse of course about tv southwind if have renamed. You've got dusty. Johnson's won this event twice. Yet brooks won the wdc twenty nineteen teams. Got a couple of top cents was named it. The course to dana berger who's won twice as cbc southwind and those are wins of his career. So i think. Dj eighteen one to win the tournament. Cat goes the term favourite twenty. Got dana berger. I think about twenty hundred. He's getting lots team. So you know we'll see if these guys cannot match their previous greatest this place or someone else wins and then a couple of big names in the field..

So they're definitely not the same thing that I think they deserve apart and everybody's portfolio. The part that you want to make sure is safe guaranteed and that you can't run out on Which ones are right for you. There's hundreds of different flavors out there we have. You have to sit down with somebody like me. Who's a true expert in the field that can help you determine which ones right And these things are not new products. I just want to make a a little comment that 20 years ago In the year 2000 and one Suzie Orman wrote a book called Road to Wealth, and In that book, Road to Wealth, She said that if you'd like to participate in the market But you don't want to have the risk of the market. A good fixed index annuity is right for you. How do you find a good one? You have to work with somebody who really knows the field That will help you pick that right one and service you throughout your retirement years so that you keep on track and reach your goals. There you go, folks. Questions and answers. We give it to you in our final Q and a segment of protecting your assets, Steve Shame and your host. I'm Morgan Patrick Consumer Advocate. We've got one more question. And then immediately following that question, you're going to get an opportunity to get on the calendar with Steve Sherman and to ask these questions yourself in that consultation, no cost no obligation. If you've got at least 100,000 save for retirement in your accounts, these strategies are going to work best for you. So listen up. It's coming up next. All right. We're going to go to Hoffman Estates. Mike is there. Here's the question. Final question of the program. I'm having trouble justifying the concept of paying someone to manage my money for me with all the information that's available to the average person today. What can a financial advisor really do from me that I couldn't do myself? My great question? I think a lot of people share that question. And when you say all of the information available today, there is a plethora. There's an over abundance of information out there. So if you're going to manage things yourself, and you're gonna sort through out that information that can become like a full time chop, And then you're going to end up watching. Your investments every day in and out to, uh know when to buy when to sell. And, like many people, uh, you might end up making knee jerk reactions of buying and selling at the wrong time because you don't have somebody on your side that that's helping you keep Uh, Com. Insane. So a financial advisor. Hopefully, they're giving you choices that are well research Well thought out and and and they're going to help keep you invested at the right times and help you make the right moves at the right time. So certainly people can do that by themselves. But a lot of people really appreciate the extra help, and statistics show the people that work with advisers actually have better returns over time. So there you go. There you go. Question and answer in the books and Mike. I appreciate that. I know that there are a lot of people out there that are do it yourself first feel like they can. It never hurts when an opportunity comes to get on the calendar with an advisor, no cost no obligation. Steve Simon is about to give that to you here at protecting your assets again. "Your retirement goals and every time when I meet with with a client if they show me that they are concerned about this, a counter that account one of my first question is What's your goal with this money? Sounds simple, but it's really hard and we don't really think about that. But listing your goals can give you an idea of how you're going to spend your time how you're going to avoid some potential boredom. And making sure that your money is lined up with your goals so that you can do what you want to do so important retirement. We discussed it each and every week on protecting your assets with Steve Sherman. You can find him. It will say financial Again, just having peace of mind educating yourself on what's going on with your retirement portfolio. If you need a second opinion, I mean, these are opportunities that present themselves and they're few and far between, and the positions on the calendar for Steve Shaiman. That come open are rare. We're going to have three this particular segment of the program. So listen up for that opportunity we're discussing again. If you are in a situation where say you're going to retire and your spouse is going to continue to work or you're going to continue to work in your spouse retires, So you're a couple situation. You're not going to retire at the same time, so making a new budget having a game plan. You also need to really consider the impact This is going to have on your relationship. Because things are going to change, folks. Things are gonna change. They are. I mean the roles and do these can change one's one spouse quits working and the other spouse keeps working. I mean, let's say that the working spouse comes home after a hard day of work. Maybe they're not expecting to cook and clean because you're home all day retired, even though they used to do the cooking and cleaning. Now they're bringing home the bacon and you're watching jeopardy. You know, you got to know. And be good with your spouse so that you guys get along because man a rift in the relationship can make life miserable. Make sure that you and your spouse around the same page. I mean, think about this folks. And again. This is something that might not be on the forefront of your mind when you're when you're thinking about possibly a split retirement. You're innocent. You're you're a couple You're married. You've both been working. And then all of a sudden, there's an age difference and the older decides to retire and the younger continues on that working path and You know, now, all of a sudden, you know everything changes. I mean, your personal routines. Everything is going to have to be adjusted because what you were doing before together now, all of a sudden, you're kind of you're kind of apart, so you gotta adjust. And be in harmony, so retirement in a spouse situation and what happens if again you retire at different ages. You know, most people are probably thinking we're going to just retire at the same time. A lot of times. That doesn't happen. So now we need to think about. You know how that dynamic is going to change. And one of the first things you're going to look at. Is your portfolio. And reducing the risk that's in there, because obviously you now have one salary that's coming in and you have one person that's retired. You know, I'm a firm believer as as we get older, we should be dialing down the risk of our portfolio. This is a mistake that I share with our listeners. Many times happened to me and my family. When my dad was 78 years old, he literally had millions and millions of dollars that he accumulated. For some reason, that wasn't enough for him. He didn't dial down his risk at all. In fact, in the last five years of his life, he turned it up more because he liked the game. And in those last five years of his life, you know Morgan, he lost 90% of what he worked for his whole life Long. Okay, that's hard. That's a hard story to hear. But it happens a lot. It happens a lot. It happens a lot. And you know, one And while my dad was alive, and before way, I was an adviser before I knew what I was doing. He introduced me to a couple of advisors that sold me some variable products. That sounded good and not being an educated consumer. I didn't really know what to do. I bought two variable products. I bought a variable life insurance policy on my parents. The adviser told me that as I got into that policy, if I paid the premiums for six years, that would be it. I wouldn't have to pay any more. And that was based on the market being favorable to me all of the years. But what happened was the market crashed. The accumulated cash value got wiped out. That expenses built into the insurance policy didn't stop and I had to fund that policy not for six years, but for 16 years until my mom eventually passed away. So one product and there were two clients in the office yesterday and one the day before that had variable life insurance policies. And they said, Look, I've made some good money as the markets up. I don't want to lose this. Is there something that you can do? And the answer is? Yes. Absolutely 100%. We like products that don't have the risk of market downturns..

Well, I mean, certainly you can if you've prepared carefully, and you've made sure that you've had that you have your assets protected against catastrophic loss and that you've got your income for sure Coming, no matter what happens, and often times we talk about accounts that give you guaranteed income for life. Even those that can increase with income and those are the kind of plans that can give you the certainty and surety for your retirement years and I believe should be part of everybody's portfolio and again, another plug for segment three. "Yes, thanks Prospect one, the alchemy All Derby and the Preakness and also snow chief one, The alchemy Animal Derby. He was favored in the Kentucky Derby got beat but bounced right back in the Preakness and won that one So in the in the eighties and nineties. Welcome. Mary Al Douri produced a lot of solid horses for the Triple Crown races kind of gone downhill since then, and even lost its great three status a couple of years ago. So it's not a great race. But who knows? Sam After Rombauer won the Preakness may be the great Three status will bring reach revised for the ultimate A real Derby. All right. Well, let's get into today's card to golden Gate. Uh, some of the races that little gate tomorrow and down insanity that today and tomorrow. Um Yep, we have. Ah. Uh, really pick five at Golden Gate, um, in the first race making, claiming 8000 95 favorite stand in your love. Source has been second five times out of 10. Normally I don't like a horse like that. But this field is looks to be so weak that I'm gonna have to use the worst. But I'm gonna also throw in Sam at 20 to 1 Morning Line shot number one Southern venture. One of the horses in this race except for southern venture have shown any early speed whatsoever and in Southern ventures, second start first sight for being claimed by Daniel Frankel. This horse dueled on the lead. Faded badly. But the fact is the horse is not gonna have to duel today. I don't think and, uh Daniel adds blinkers to the horse. So even more speed my becoming, and at 21, this worse has a shot to take a wire to wire. And moving on to the second leg of your pick. Five. Yeah, he used to horses here. Also number three. Q tip. Once again, we have AH, front runner in the race without much speed claimed by seven LaGrone last time from Steve Sherman, the source said the face and finished 2nd 4000 clamor. No up to 60 to 50. That's a positive class rise. Also going to use the bottom worst glitter Lake for Reed Francis. The source was cleaned last time for 60 to 50. From blame, Right? I think Reed's claimed a couple horses from Blaine over the last a year, and I didn't run a great race that day. But I'm thinking with the with the new barn might might might show some improvement, and the previous races has done pretty well. First in the 2nd and 1st to start so gonna take Q Tip and Glitter Lake three and six in the second race. Yeah. I just wanted to remind people that post time and golden Gate today one 21st post, So that got a fortune will be one o'clock fact with Larry continues is early. Pick five. Yeah, we have The $1000 beaten clamors number one extractor has a lot of early speed that I have to use that horse. Also, the horses won four out of eight starts, including three out of six this year with two seconds. Very consistent front runner have to use that horse. And then a come from behind her. The 9 to 5 Morning line favorite Sweet River, Baines. Only one once in the last two years, but ran a good race. Last time in an open 12 5 has run an open claimers for the last. Oh, my in the last years about and this is ah, restricted claimer. This is a big class drop. Not a huge price class dropped 12 5 to 8. But as far as class those he's been running an open races with no restrictions in those races often track a lot of horses that like to win so fever brains might get over the hump this time. Uh, with the class drop finally, Number seven Rally Cat once again another recent claim by Reed Francis this or should a lot more early speed last time out, so I might be able to stay with extractor for awhile. That would set it up for Sweet River Baines. But I'll use all three in the Big five. And so that's the really pick five with the fifth in. We have nothing to the fourth race. We have number one going away party. This horse is making its third start off 11 to start her allowance, and the horse ran second in the same kind of race. Last time out and should be at his best third time after layoff. Also number six, baby Frankie, this first been running great in all sorts of different kinds of races. Three wins, four wins, three seconds more wins two seconds in the third last seven starts. Very consistent speed radiance or are consistent, so I'm going to use the one in six and then finally will single the last race starter allowance. 50 number three, she said. Yes. Once again, a speed horse from Jonathan Wong ran badly for mating. 25 then dropped right to maiden 12 51 easily and came back in the starter allowance, which is a much higher class and still ran really well set the pace and finished third. Not much really speed in this field, she said. Yes might be long gone, so that's the early pick five. All right, Let's take a look at the state Grace on Monday, the All America and at Golden Gate Very interesting race. It's 100,000 once again was used to be a great three. That's great was taking away a couple years ago, they'd integrated States Committee decides this on How many graded stakes horses run in your race over a five year period, and not that many of running this race? Evidently so you know, the fact that it's on the tip eat a synthetic surface, the only one in California. That sort of keeps a lot of the top. Um, created stakes horses that usually come up from Southern California for a race. Uh, keep them at home instead of coming up here. But anyway, we have a really interesting field the field of only six, but there's uh Any port in a storm. He's been like the best friend of Northern California for the last couple of years, but he was switched from Blaine, right trainer down to Peter Miller in Southern California switched back last fall. And he's been stable down in Southern California. They shipped back up here to win the lost in the fog steaks on April 24th. And that's the second time it always won. That race also won the old tree sprint that the Alameda County Fair and look at his record. On the synthetic surface. Sam, seven starts, five wins and two thirds. The only thing is he's a sprinter stretching out and He has had some success going long he's had in a mountain the launchers mile a couple years ago, he only got beat ahead lead after leading all the way. So he's going to be the speed. The problem is with him. There's a horse named zestful also used to be in Northern California horse was playing for 40,000 by Mark Latin Back in July of 92,019. This horse has not sprint speed like any port in the storm, but he has route speed. No matter what distance he's got route speed from a mile to a mile and a half to a mile and three quarters. This horse can run forever. He's got some speed not quite as quick as any port in a storm, but he might be quick enough but pressure on him when they go into the second turn, and that might set it up for a closer and kind of interesting horse that can close Is Harmon on the outside Who's claimed by Mani Meyer. Two races back for 32,000 step right up to 62 5, but he ran for the allowance condition and he won that one very easily and got a really good speed figure that sets up well for this race money. I talked of money yesterday on the phone. He's pretty confident about this horse being able to give him the richest victory of his training career, So it's a very good race. Other horses in the race Cuba's cause one. The Tokyo City going a mile and a half at Santa Anita back in September. He hasn't runs this November. I don't know what to think of that horse and then Quinn how he's got Indian Peak. And may be armed guard give young guards set the track record last last September. 1 35.69 for a mile on D comes off a victory at turf paradise in the grass race, so it's pretty pretty contentious Field. And I think everybody's got a chance to win. Be interesting to see how the pace plays out with any port in a storm and zestful. Okay on today's card at Golden Gate, we did the earlier pick five. Do you have any thoughts on any of the remaining races? Yeah, I have like a couple horses in the late take four. In the sixth race to 12 5. Open clamor, number one is invisible. This horses won three in a row in restricted claimers for cheap prices down to 32. He won for 32 twice and then for 8000. Now steps all the way up to 12 5. It's a big step up, but this horse and so sharp, in other words to look at his number four many roses, the 95 favorites..

"Trust or is dropping so far in class. If the horse is worth 20,000, why would they running for 60 to 50? But you go back in his record back to January of last year, and he was claimed by Daniel Frankel for 5000, So they're making money on the horse anyway. And if they lose him for 60 to 50 that they still make money because he was only claim for 5000, so he's probably back down to the level that he belonged out all along, so I'm going to use 13 and four in the fourth race. All right. And to wrap up your early pick five. The fisheries, Fifth Race. Whose horse Conquest Women raid. Hey, was it Average horse before racing down south Racing Back east. He comes to Golden Gate and he's improves, runs a couple bad races, then runs second, and after those two races, he was wired a wire for 4000 on Ben. Two weeks later, he comes from fifth place, and this storm's passed leaders and wins by five links. Now he shows versatility in those two races. He won those two races easily. And now he runs in a race where he can't be claimed. It's a 4000 starter allowance. Any horse that ran the 4000 flamer in the last year and a half can be entered for this race and not be claimed. So. That shows confidence from Pablo de Jesus is 14 of his nine starters at the meeting, and he's just been such great form and at a race where he can't be claimed that shows a lot of confidence from the trainer song in a single conquest. Lemonade in the fifth race to end The early pictures. Five. Number six. The early pick five and also to start the late pick five. And so then we move on to the sixth race today, History started allowance for horses that ran for reclaiming price of 50,000 or less and haven't won more than one race. Jonathan Long has got another horse in here, where she claimed three races back. And last time out, uh, in allowance race so much stronger field on. Lee got beat a half length going six going 5.5 for loans, And this is a little bit easier. The field forces have about a lot of back class even ran in the bear fans Stakes in 2019. So this horse has talent have to work on a trip from the rail. But the horse has my speed and on Lee, a couple other speed horses, so I should get a good trip the other horse, and then he used his way to fire from the Steve Spec Barn. Steve's had a great start to the media. Get out of 28. Starting this week. 10 wins out of 28 starters, This horse has been in the money six out of seven times, Never worse and forth, runs his race every time. And has been competing at this level. It's about time the horse breaks through. So one and five in the sixth race eyes we move on to race Number seven Number seven another starter allowance, this one for horses that ran for 12 5 or or less so these horses can't be claimed. Tim McCann has got number one fax matter. This horse shows from speed and from the rail. I think that we're just gonna have to go did go wire to wire an allowance race back in May And, uh, finish third to a couple horses in this field last time out, But I think this horse gets an azure chance easier chance to take the early lead, especially from the rail, So I'm gonna take facts matter number one. The horse. I'm gonna take his number five Slam dunk sermon of the horse like I mentioned from Steve Spec. Smart this horse, one that this condition last time out after winning an allowance race. A regular allowance race, which is a much tougher, appealed the source taken advantage of the fact that he ran the 12 5 player back in the February 1st career debut. He's won six out of 11 his life. It's a very good win percentage and comes from just off the patient. Get a good trip. I'm using number five Slam dunk sermon and number one fax matter in the seventh, alright, or move on to the final two of Golden Gate Today A and the eighth race The eighth race. Dutch painting made his first start in the U. S. And first start since October. Didn't really didn't really finish all that strongly down the lane. He finished third ran third All the way around the track made a move and then kind of hung a little bit. Uh, the horse that won that race pay. Big Didrikson came from way off the face to win. I think with that race Under under her belt, Dutch painting. Oh, probably run a better race today, plus ads blinkers, which is a good sign for, uh, for trainer Mani. Bad idea. I'm gonna use touch bait Dutch painting number one and also reverie. Now this four steps up into a starter allowance class after doing very well in some claimers winning. Four out of his last seven and comes off a win in a 12 5 claiming race Now this race can't be claimed, which is a strong sign of Ah, confidence from trainer Steve Start. Steve Sherman. This horse comes from just off the base should get a good trip like one and four in the eighth race. And we wrap it up with the ninth and final like Golden Gate on this Valentine's Day. Nice and final. We like number 3 61 pour on the coal. Steve Spect reclaim this horse after Jonathan Wall and clean the horse from him and ran ran the horse once. And right away, Steve Spect one right back in and claim the horse back, and after that claim, the horse won two in a row $20,000 claiming condition clamors. This is a tougher field a regular allowance race, but that shows confidence and that the horse can't be claimed today, and the horse has a good work since the last race of One on one and three, So number three is in great form going to use that horse in the last race, plus number 10 Squire to other horse rather number eight claim of passion. The source just won by a nose at this level, but because being a California bred the horse gets a chance to read the same class. That was the horses first race up here and up here in the Don't that communicate feels after running some decent races in Southern California. So strong force claim a passion Kyle afraid. One. The El Camino Real Derby yesterday is aboard and finally going to use shad rack. The source lost by just the nose to claim a passion last time, and it's a very, very strong stretch runner. It's runs a series of decent races, has two wins in four seconds out of 15 starts, He'll be coming at the end. So three horses in the last race number three Number eight and number 10. In our final 30 seconds to have a thought on the late double between Santa need and golden Gate. Um, I didn't like those words. I do have Ah, opinion on the stakes race at Santa Anita. That's the side of the sweet.

"Predator. Ryan, What have we learned in the last few days, even about this story? Well, I made the public accusation that members of Lincoln Project knew about this like predatory behavior. By John Weaver, Former McCain and Case six strategist And they made a public accusations and your claim that we knew were going to sue you. And now The Associated Press and New York magazine have come out of stories saying they 100% knew for months. They knew basically before I knew And they just stayed silent. And they constantly the accusation that Weaver had left the organization August after he had his alleged heart attack, and, um And it was revealed in the in the New York magazine that he actually came back to the Lincoln Project to talk about strategy to turn Texas Blue. So they wasn't It wasn't like he was gone and out of the way, and I have been speaking of sources constantly the last 48 hours, and I mean, it's shocking how much access he had every time that he was, you know, a non figure when in fact he was Very much responsible for getting a lot of interns hired after he, you know, reach out to them to be first sexual it sexually harassed them and ask for sexual favors from that, Ryan, what else has come up here? I've started to see people saying That the FBI may investigate. According to you, Charlie, and another major source that I now love. I can't see the name right now. But another major source. Yes, The FBI is investigating John Weaver, the Lincoln Project announced. This is the craziest thing the Lincoln product announced when The Associated Press story broke Sunday morning. They said that it was a trump hit piece from The Associated Press. Then, when the New Yorker story broke Sunday evening like 12 hours later, they said in a statement, saying they were hiring an outside counsel to do an investigation into what they knew. The only reason you would do that is because you're preparing for a major federal investigation because none of this is not as a private company. This is not like you know the Weinstein, Angkor or Fox News and all those things were happening. This is A company that deals directly with the FCC. Then, later that night, they apparently hacked Jennifer Horn, one of their founding members, whose left the Lincoln project over the John We've, Graham said. They hacked her Twitter account and started tweeting screenshots of conversations she was having with journalists with a journalist, Um, which is a violation of federal law. You can't do that on Why would they? What? What was the conversation? Why would they do that? It doesn't make any doesn't seem to make any sense. What was that? They're doing it to their leadership. My guess is they're doing it to their interns to to find out who their sources were that broke the John Weaver story to me and other journalists. That's my guess. So you think that they're now basically looking for the mole in a sense where they're looking for multiple moles and six members of the Lincoln Project have asked me release from their NBA is to speak openly. About John Weaver, the Lincoln Project and what they knew. Um It, So it is. It is not. It is it is there, apparently looking for people who, you know, It's so funny In one breath, they sit there and say, you know, we stand by the victims and support the victims. But if you are a victim, you have to abide by your MBA. And if you say we knew were to sue you Amazing because the go go ahead. Go ahead. No, that's the dual. That's the duality that they're working with. And because there's so many moving parts and because there's so many different, I mean it's been it's been a month of this news has been slowly breaking drip by drip. Rather than being honest with it from the gecko, which would have been much easier in their lives. They They had. They changed their narrative over and over and over again. First, they didn't know First they were silent. Then they stood by his comment that every conversation was consensual. And it's not a big deal. Then they were outraged that he was a hay was president, You know, being being a predator towards 14 year olds, then Um Then they said any accusation get the knowing if they would, they would be met with a lawsuit. And then they said that, um then they said that they said that accusation, saying that is a trump hippies. Now they're looking for a general outside counsel to confirm what they knew. Who knew it. You know when it turned out that Mike Madrid, a founding member of the Lincoln Project, had received multiple messages stating that that he was warned ahead of time Mike Madrid, They said, Well, he's not spokesperson used on high position. He said next to Rick Wilson during the 16 minutes interview as a founding member. So their story is constantly changing. That keeps throwing people under the bus left and right to kind of keep this ship sailing and keep the grift going. Um, it's just so people know this is a 70. Million dollar 90 $90 million organization. This is not, you know, this is not some little mom and pop, you know, pack or something. This is big money that went into this thing and one thing, Ryan that I think everyone needs to know as well. Is that the media? The corporate media is absolutely complicity in the creation of Lincoln Project as some entity that people should listen to and his honorable the Lincoln projects. Whole thing was worthy ethical Republicans and MSNBC and CNN. I mean, Steve Schmidt, it was like he had his own show at MSNBC during the 2020 election. And now this happens, Yeah, well, the most shocking part of it was that after my story came out, it took three weeks of the New York Times story to come out when The New York Times story came out three beats there. MSNBC and CNN had had Rick Wilson, Steve Sherman other members Lincoln Project on 21 Times and never ask them. Hey, There's a major incredible accusation against one of your founding.

"Sullivan. Then we welcome. Uh, Larry Stones wasn't but I'm in a while, just like Golden Gate. You didn't check down, but he's back today on at track Hilarious tombs of the Chronicle. Good morning, Larry. Good Morning, Sam. How we doing? We're doing fine. So we're ready for you to run a school. The handicap of today's golden Gate Fields card on the races. You like? Well, we're gonna risk race first base. We're going a mile. That mile Maiden claiming 12 5. You know, there's the fields are very short today and that races they're very cheap. Both here and at Santa Anita. So the pick five I'm gonna play are going to be very Inexpensive because I don't want to invest too much when it's not going to pay too much. So anyway, the first race has got a field of field of six, um, going a mile meeting claiming 12 5. 2 to 1 favorite. The morning lines. Red Hot Cat from Southern California shouldn't sent up to Steve Sherman beaten double digit links every race down there, making clambers down there translate to the maiden claimers up here, even though the Claiming price lot cheaper. The horse I like on the horse. I'm going to single in the pick five as number three dealers hand this horse's race a couple times in Beijing special weights and really didn't embarrass himself, finishing fourth after setting the pace in a sprint than finishing fourth again and I'm route on the turf and then, uh, Back to six furlongs didn't do very well in the maiden, claiming 25 then was has been off since September. 26th. But, um, gets Lasix for the first time and I'm down to the 12 5 maiden level. Jose Batista is good off the, uh Off the lay off like this, and also good sprint to route. So, um, in order to beat the favorite, um the other horses just haven't done anything at all that inspire any confidence, so I'm gonna single number three dealers hand in the first race at Golden Gate. Okay. We move on to the second race I'm gonna have for long started reality. First of 19,000. Yeah, probably the Christians race on the program. Once again just six horse field going 5.5 furlongs. Couple of horses. I like number one. Van Gogh go from Southern California was switched from Louis Mendez to Jonathan. Long, um, before her last two races, and all of a sudden she went wire to wire and crushed both times Maiden, claiming 20 at LaSalle, which is the absolute bottom level and then a 16,009 winners. A to clamor. Now these air a little higher class, but Again shipping up from Southern California. And also there's not a whole lot of early speed in this field. She's definitely the fastest fastest mare in the race. So 321 I'm putting her on the ticket with Kyle Frey and You see that combination of fray and Jonathan Wong 38% over the last two years, so also going to use number two. Away from the sun. This horse really ran a great race. First time out on the turf. October 22nd five furlongs, sat back in the pack and then made a huge move and one by five links. You know, horse. They're one of the turf almost always handled the synthetic been off since then, But that was such a devastating win by five lengths and have to use away from the sun. Obviously, we know she could run. Fresh. So one and two in the second race. All right, I guess Candy camper here on Golden Gate fields. Such are back running is Larry students Turf writer for the Chronicle, and we moved to race number. Three. Their race on the card today. Yep. Non winners the 2 60 to 50 Clamor. Could you use three horses here? The one hypersonic Once again. Jonathan Wong horse coming up in southern California. Jeff Mets train the horse down there. 11 out of 10 starts, of course. Jonathan 37% 1st off first time with him. The training has had some good works of Golden Gate one on one on 11 on one for a minute and one really good works. Um, on the horse. Um, probably a couple off. The pace today went was leading most of the way and mile race March 22nd at Santa Anita. That's the last time that that That he's erased, but I like those workouts, and once again Jonathan's really good off a long way off like that. 37% so number one hypersonic number two at 15 to 1, Idiot and Love. This horses run some decent races also has some speed and just the fact that a horse runs decently certainly translates to a contender in this field. Finally, I'm gonna use number six Bigfoot City Once again. This horse showed speed last time. One of maiden claimer 12 5. Not not a bad rated race. Got a 64 Beyer speed figure, which fits right in with these horses of actually better, better speed figure than the other two horses I have on my ticket and that newfound speed might serve Bigfoot City. Well, especially with the outside boast so 12 and six in the third. And we will go on and you really picked five to the fourth race day at Golden Gate Fields. Most time 12 45 is golden Gate is back running. No friends are allowed to attend. However, you can catch it on T V G or on the Golden Gate Fields website the races from Golden Gate Fields. I'm going to go a mile with made special weights..
Kinder study finds Houston's citizen police review board deeply flawed
"A new study says houston's police oversight board is one of the least effective among the state's largest cities flooring and martin says a report presents a dismal view of police oversight in houston researchers at rice. University's kinder- institute looked at police oversight in houston dallas fort worth austin and san antonio. They found that houston's nine-year-old independent police oversight board is the only one that consists of unpaid volunteers. Only steve sherman is to reports co author. They effectively work under a gag order. They really can't talk publicly about the work they do. In the cases that they review. And they're really just looking at completed internal affairs investigations and he says unlike houston other cities oversight board. Don't just look at the use of force incidents but they also do policy research and make recommendations and things like hiring and community outreach which the police departments usually follow after the death of george floyd in may mayor sylvester turner created a task force in part to the city's police oversight board.

"She's the starter. Lower level. It's nice, they're protected. They just had to have qualified by racing for 4000. Once they do that they're not eligible to be claimed here so you can just kind of keep earning money and putting him back where they belong and keep him in health robbery on a top writer Kyle Frey gets up. She is going for four in a row today. She won easily last time against the similar group. And it looks good here, but we're going to back her up with number four Hong Kong cowboy 9 to 2 with Santos were very getting in the set back in the saddle. Uh, for the For the third time. He's already written that horse well twice, and that whore stretched out on the turf for the first time last time and one wired a wire with a decent numbers. So I think Brianna couldn't have her hands full a little bit today with the number four Hong Kong cowboy And he should be a single on a lot of pick sixes, but we're going to go ahead. And on our $43.20 ticket. We're gonna back her back her up with two chances. They're going to fire Briana over the number four Hong Kong Cowboy. All right, moving on to the eighth race on the mandatory pick six payout today, beginning on the fifth race of the card first posted 1 15 and the eighth race. Looks like you're gonna have to spread out. I think this is the spread. I think A lot of people will be doing that on the ticket. It's a full 10 Horsfield again. We've got two year old means to deal with these are the top level group top level, maybe level here at Golden Gate. And I just think you're gonna have to visit the private demonstration and have to spread and it's the one that we spread the most on our ticket. I'm sorry, 12 Force Field of Top level maidens. I mean, sorting this field out. You really have to look at there's two horses in here, sired by Indian evening is just phenomenal 28% with his Davey runner so that fire hit Phenomenally first time out. He got two runners here, both for the same owner, owner group Cam and Racing and trained by Steve Sherman. One is so well bred. The dam has had four other starters. Um they all 413 were stakes winners and you know of 500,000 and 500,000. Her full sister Indian evening by the same damn, is a miracle sneaking out who's still a current graded stakes winning hard hitting sprinter in Southern California. That's the 500,000 earner. Siblings that the full sister and this one looks. Looks live here in that they've used a number five Starlight stroll is the one I'm talking about. And then the number eight. Okay, I is the other Indian evening fired. Horse of those are the top two for us. Are also going to back that one up on our pick six ticket with the number two la Panzanella 12 to 1. That one's coming down from Washington as blinkers for Blaine, right, who won the opening race for two year olds yesterday and look actually kind of decently good out of two stakes races behind a really hot Washington two year old. I think that one will be in the nice one toe. Add 12 the one and there's good form. They're kind of hidden in the past performance. She got well beaten, but it was by a really hot Washington state's winner who went off by nine and 10 lengths. And then the other one. We're going to use it the first time starter on the far outside number 11 new Ways to Dream a 12 to 1 trained by Brendan Galvin, who's very good with first time starters. 25% in a limited sample, and also the Sira midshipman sends out from live runners 15% on his first timer, so we're going to take some chances. Here we go 58 to 11. If you have the budget, you can definitely spread a little bit more. One ticket we had given out, also threw in The nine at 20 to 1. As well as the number one at 10 to 1. Those are also two first time starters. You're playing a little bit of a guessing game here, but in trying to read the trainers, read the workouts and read the pedigrees. We came up with five 8 to 11 for our four on our $43 ticket. And once the odds on the 11 11 was a 12 to 1 morning line. And that's in race number eight. Okay? We moved to the nine of the 10 race card. You have the ninth race here. This is for me that the one of the legs of the late golden hours picked for that you're talking about from Santa Anita. Gold negates the overlap there. It's also but, you know, ending the fifth race. Of the pick six at Golden Gate on the Golden Pick six. Those kind of a key race here. 97 horses of the Sprint. I think there's gonna be a lot of tickets singled to a horse called Sadie Bluegrass. Who's 75 on the Morning line Number six. She's a three year old who's won three of four of the last five. And she's five for eight lifetimes. What There's Her interior fraction. She faced some field and say some interior factions where She's had an easy time at one point or another in the first part of the sprint and leaves and the one time she was pushed. Was it pleasant in when somebody pushed her to a half mile that was faster than what she was comfortable with? And that that was one of the one of the second place finishes and she got picked in that race. So There is a horse in here. Finally, I think coming up from Southern California with a kind of big time past performances and big time speed that might be able to push Lady bluegrass Beyond her limits here, and that's number two woke two aces woke up two aces at 3 to 1 Number two. That's gonna be our top call over the 75. And we might be kind of swimming upstream and going against the grain here. We're going to use to over the six on the pick six and hopefully we catch that, too, will not got a lot of the tickets. That singled in this race on the number sticks to woke up aces shipped up here for Michael McCarthy. He's fantastic 30% when he's shipping upto all weather. To our track, but he knows what he's doing..

"At your company's healthcare plan and that's why I call women who recently switched coverages and about to shock him with something in his policy that he didn't notice so we cover what you signed up for it in your photo and it's coming up right after this broken you will more makes me the the in the mornings on the twenty hello hi my name is Steve Sherman I'm calling from health care I was looking to speak with Mike's speaking Hey Mike how're you according to my records you sent an email you had some questions about the health plan you just signed up for yeah I had a question about the deductible it it's obviously a new plant so I just wondered like for example if I if I broke my leg or something I did and then I see a doctor how much but they had a pocket I see nothing about the deductible saws earned about that okay well I don't know if the doctors on your plan cover that type of thing yeah look into that a little more what do you mean like like they don't cover broken body parts well I mean I'm assuming broken bone I mean I'm assuming they do it's just that you signed up for that plan yeah that's the plan I signed up for a mean and I don't know what you mean so if you or any member of your family gets sick or breaks a bone you'll be seen by an animal doctor what yes you signed up for that plan but that like veteran of the armed services no I think you're mistaken you signed up for the vet plan in that short for veterinarian hold on a second hold on it Ukraine human people are looked at by by a veterinarian that's exactly what I'm saying yes we've actually had a lot of people very confused about that but no you will be seeing a veterinarians it's a it's a cheap option and how how are you not spelling out the fact that it's a veterinarian planned like well I thought we thought that was obvious of that plan I mean you're talking healthcare it's it should be not even one picture of an animal on the page what do you mean veterinary well because I can find out for a veterinarian planned well you did and it's a lot cheaper the the the procedures are a bit different from time to time but I would not even legal but the healthcare is basically over crowded so they've moved some things over to the veterinarian or what you know I don't I don't want I don't sign up to bat okay one that got you well we can change that for you wait till next year when the enrollment starts again and wait till next year all hold on holy year are you I am not spending my family and myself to a doctor if something happened here well then that's your choice that's your choice but if you want to go to a human doctor you have to pay the full fee out of pocket we will cover your trips to the veterinarian only this is not happening tell me if it's not real this really isn't as bad as you think Mike sure okay there might be some hope in the waiting room and the doctors take your temperature a bit differently at the veterinary clinic but they're all friendly I I don't even know what to make of this I'm I'm I'm I'm speechless I'm livid and I'm speaking with okay real quick while we're on this topic you're not planning on getting a vasectomy this year are you what are you talking about what well I do want to caution you with your current health plan make sure you do your due diligence and pick a good animal doctor because I've heard rumors of patients accidentally getting neutered because you know that I am not going actor for any kind of operation okay well I I'm not even doing it yeah but if you're going for a sec to me I have no you know not going in for a protected because a I'm not going in for anything I don't know much about this but they tend to take the whole all the kibble if you don't you're not listening to me I'm not going to a doctor for anything you know I'm I might be speaking out of turn here but it sounds like you might be suffering from this temperament which is a condition that a lot of animals specially dogs get where you know the family not a disease a lot of an animal okay I do not have a condition that animal tab you will but it sounds to me like you could I am I speaking to you anymore okay put me on your supervisor because I've had it this is a charade this is a hand through the line okay all those are a what how you got the job what you guys think you're doing but you're not gonna get away with all of you to provide right now I have to tell you all of those things you used to describe this phone call a charade scam ally really a beautiful way of putting it it is all a charade a scam analyze do not mind at do not me give me a supervisor right now although I'm just telling you this is a prank phone call but you said it much more beautifully than that what this is actually Jubal from broken you will in the morning doing a phone tap on you your friend Pete set you up what it's a prank phone call your buddy told us that you just signed up for new health care and want to mess with you all my gosh are you kidding me yes I am actually you don't have to go see a veterinarian for your stuff up with it moon I was so I was freaked out I don't know why the freaked out there so nice of you "In back to Jalen. Hello. Can you hear Steve Sherman? Mike question is that we're hearing the same criticism of Trump ministrations, bellicose rhetoric and his miss mic mixed messages as we did when he if he will face off against North Korea. He did get sanctions the UN to come to help bring North Korean student Goshi eating table. His sanction the Trump administration sanctions now are, are showing results in cutting off an annual assistance to Hezbollah and Maas. It seems also the Europeans are beginning to come around Turkey is announced it's not going to buy any more oil. I think another Lund's. I see spine oil. Is the foreign policy establishment establishment got got it all wrong. Again. It seems to be working. So I mean well, it depends on what you mean by got it all wrong. So I, there's a, there's a maximum camp next campaign of maximum pressure economic in nature, which is driving Iran and running leaders to a point where potentially and that's this is the issue of a lot of people are, are trying to, to analyze these days. You know, is that that effort to get a change in behavior of going to have the desired results, will the behavior change? Yes, you see Hezbollah funding drying up. You don't see much effect on other activities in Yemen, Iraq, or Syria. So how elastic is the administration's timeframe? And then when you get into the current phase that were in it. Uh-huh. Extremely difficult to parse out again the intent of the Iranians. Do they feel their backs up against the wall? And this is lashing out. Do they see the administration turning to military pressure having finished with economic pressure? That's not the way I read it, but we're trying to understand what the Iranians are reading, and how they are responding. I think what the way I look at it right now is they have a lot of cards to play within that grey zone in, in the symmetrical zone. That can that don't lend themselves to quick solutions in terms of economic pressure. So I don't I'm not taking issue with a campaign of economic pressure. But I think at a certain point in this esscalation that we have ongoing the risk for miscalculation is there, the, the, the concerns, I have are about what the what the US is signaling to the Iranians in what they understand those signals to be. And the president is continuing to say, I'd like to, to talk to Ron leaders, but I don't think we have anything like the same dynamic in Tehran that you haven't in Pyongyang. If I may interject, I think it's important that those of us think tank community of a certain humility, and understanding of how we can influence policy, and it's fair to say that there were no experts in North Korea. Who thought that the policy of maximum pressure would produce a suspension of missile tests suspension, naked tests resumption in negotiations about nuclear program and toning down of calls for US troops to end the Korean North Korean pensive the Korean peninsula. And the release of Americans. It produced all those results. And it's not surprising that a fair number of people important, people probably, including the president are not persuaded the regional experts necessarily are getting it right about what the maximum pressure on Iran. Call will produce. I don't think that it would be easy to persuade the president that maximum pressure will not will have Leslie intended results in Iran. Another comment. After the administration announced that the deployment of additional military assets to the region. There were great many calls that this was yet another slide towards an unprovoked war based on bad intelligence. And what terrible? It was to see the United States going down that same route that we went to Iraq in two thousand and two thousand three. And my dear friends in Tehran to their best proof Trump, right? By the attacks offer gera-, and the, the tax on the attacks on the five fine. Certainly made it seem quite plausible that there were words and then the mortaring of the USA, the green zone near the US embassy in Baghdad only magnified view. And so suddenly, the deployment of additional US forces in the region, which was so widely decried a few days, earlier, look, possibly justified possibly even prudent. And I am impressed at the ability of the Iranians to shoot themselves in the foot. If I could just add my comments were not whether the maximum pressure would work or not, it's, it's my comments were about what I would call, I guess, prudence and overreach that there's probably kind of a sweet spot where you get the maximum benefits from economic pressure without incurring increased risk of pushing adversary in a corner where they feel that they have no other option, except maybe the military option. So, and also, you know, for deterrence to work, you also have to understand what the adversaries red lines are that will cause him to respond militarily and try to find ways to work around them which is what Iran has been doing ever since the birth of the Republic. So I would have just argued that given that around has always said, we can't export all nobody will export oil. They ready said that kind of going down to zero oil exports is kind of like their Redline. So when we when we said, you know, we're, we're aiming for that, and we're taking tangible steps to achieve that. You know is, is the additional bump, you get from going down from, you know. Down to, you know, from a million barrels to a few hundred thousand barrels or. Is it worth the additional risk that you incur by doing that, intentionally and order to make the policy, sustainable domestically you have to consider that, but I think also the administration has a time line because I they're concerned is they want accomplish this on their watch because they don't know what my follow them after the next election. It might be another Trump administration or might be a democrat. So you gotta get it done now. And I think that kind of pushes them to a maximum kind of version of maximum pressure. But there are ways of doing it, which perhaps could kind of hit the sweet spot without creating. Elevated potential for military conflict. I guess is what I'm trying to say. Michael Eisenstein, is the confidence, and director of military and securities program at the Washington Institute. On the other side of the room. Please. Middle East is the toot. Let's assume, though that deterrence fails with the panel want to speculate on what that means, what does it. What is ask elation here? Look like we've said, a lot of things we don't want to see another for example land conflict. But then what are we looking at because all the discussion has been what happens short of that. Well, if only start the comment. We Washington state a few years ago, gave a our book prize to a book, entitled, the twilight wars, which argued that the United States, neuron heaven at war at that time for thirty five years now for forty years, but the, the war's been conducted in the twilight and something like Stuxnet week after all was done by President Obama was not an act of friendship and that the way in which the two parties seem to prefer going after each other is indeed in the shadows and vigorously using proxies, where possible, and I think that good continue to be their preferences, even as turns failed. So no matter how much deterrence failed. I would say that each of the two parties would do their darndest to see that. Any confrontations between them be that character? And neither party is interested in a major head on war. And that would be, I think Iran had shall we say, less than pleasant experiences with its major war with the with the Rockies, and, and the United States had less than pleasant experience. It's war in Iraq, so I would get a lot hotter. We'd read a lot about a lot more things in the newspapers and see them on television. But. I think both sides, which try and send messages to each other. More privately than than public. I'll just have to that. First of all, to Terrence has failed for both sides. I mean it was we crossed Iran's Red lines by deciding not to reissue the waivers saying we're going to go for zero. And they said, if you go for zero then that's red line. And we did it cross it. And then they, you know, as Barbara said, you know, when national security advisor, Bolton's said made his comments, you know, they then proceeded to cross that his red line. So deterrence has failed for both parties. And I would argue actually, you know, the supreme leader says, all the time as we've heard by some of the other speakers that we already at war with the United States. So the problem is Americans have certain kind of preconceptions about wars large scale conventional convict, conflict invasions of countries in a like, well, we've Patrick said, we're, we've been involved in kind of a low intensity conflict that has waxed and waned with Iran. We've had embassies.
