Where does the Republican Party go after Trump?

"To become of the Republican Party Post? Trump KCBS is Mike the wall reports on the debate and says that much of the divide centers around who will become the parties. Standard bearer. The split isn't just among GOP members but also its leadership. Liz Cheney supports impeachment, while Steve Scalise opposes House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy opposes but has also created space between himself and the president. The one thing they have in common is a worry about Donald Trump. After the 20th of January. What a post trump presidency. GOP looks like that cinema state political scientist Dr David McEwan, presidential aspirations and the balance of power in Congress all come into play as to what happens next. There's also another X factor. The wild card of Mitch McConnell could also steer the Republican Party and the direction that's away from Donald Trump the person but not necessarily away from Donald Trump or Trumpism the movement While it's still a long shot, McEwen says that McConnell's support of a conviction would bring more than enough GOP votes. He says that ultimately, McConnell's eyes are likely on the 2022 midterms.

"Republican women are joining the 117th US Congress after dominating the 2020 elections, making history for the highest number of women in the House of Representatives. "For being with us here at the takeout or Major Garrett matchbox great restaurant. We appreciate their hospitality. lunches on the way. Steve Steve scalise Snow House. Minority whip is our special guest. I WANNA play for you. Something Steve Congressman Whip. Steve is good. Steve is good As I mentioned at the top of the show we have lots of different voices and ideological perspectives. On this program November fifteenth we had Jamie Raskin a member of the House of Representatives on the Democratic side serves on the Judiciary Committee. I want to listen to his take. It'd be the last talk about impeachable. We're going to get onto other issues. But I want you to address this statement from I'm Jamie Raskin and then we'll move on. That's number three sir. Well I if their argument is that in the final analysis investigations were not launched. Despite despite every best effort by the President Giuliani and their henchmen and the money was ultimately released. That's essentially confession. They're they're like someone who's robbing a bank who's got two big bags of money is about to leave the bank and then the security guards pounce on the person and they dust themselves off and say. Oh we're all is well that ends well. No money was taken out of this bank. Nothing was ever converted. I mean they're basically conceding that there was a clear attempt to shake down a foreign government and to obtain this political dirt on opponent and so on they're basically admitting your reaction. Steve scalise well for him to use the term shakedown again. Go ask presidents. Alinsky he was the other person on the call. If the bank was never robbed. Then how do you arrest us. Somebody for robbing the bank. President trump never pressured them into it. In fact Zielinski himself said. I never felt any pressure to do anything and by the way. I didn't do the thing that y'all are saying the president it made me do. They never did the investigation and so ultimately Ukraine got the money by the way Ukraine. Got The money prior to the legal deadline for what it was supposed to be you don. I never saw Democrats that are all of a sudden expressing this outrage expressing outrage. When Barack Obama wouldn't give that money in aid to Ukraine Joe Biden was vice president when it gets back to the real quid pro quo? Joe Biden's the one who brag saying. He did go to Ukraine and said. I'm going to leave in six hours with the billion dollars of your money my money taxpayer taxpayer money. Unless y'all fire the prosecutor that's looking in to investigating his son any Brag and they fired the guy. I mean it used explicit language but the fact is is Joe Biden is the one who said in shook down Ukraine and said. I'm leaving with the billion dollars unless you fire the guy in so Ukraine fired the guy that was the real crime. I don't hear them talking talking about going to prosecuting Joe Biden. When you say crime you mean what kind? You don't mean a crime crime that was a quid pro quo. That was absolutely one. There wasn't one in the case of Donald Trump.

"For Some random Adam crime. It's because the president went so far above and beyond what they should have done this never they never started with crime. The other three impeachments all started with a crime yet. Pelosi looking for a definable crime at least in the Fed definable crime but at the end of the day I read the transcript of the Dolinsky phone call here. You had a president of Ukraine. Getting elected did on a platform of rooting out. Corruption thanking President trump starting thanking them for selling javelin missile so he could stand up to Russia when Obama and Biden would not sell those same missiles to to help Ukraine stand up to Russia talking about other things. They're working on and cleaning up corruption in Ukraine which everybody knew there was so so there was there was never a by the way there was was never a link between aid and investigations and so that was the heart of their their first charge impeachment the obstruction of Congress exerting executive authority is something every every president since George Washington would Jerry Nadler vote to impeach George Washington because he did the same thing that president trump is done in exerting executive privilege. You fight that out in the courts but you don't impeach a president because he says I'm going to do what every other president is done at fighting for my rights and article to just like we have rights in Article One you resolve it with article three to judicial branch year voice. Steve scalise nothing shameful or wrong about the president's conduct in this matter no laughing this Alinsky thanked president trump for the help that he's wrong. I'm GONNA pros or the two people who really were participants in the call and both of them thought it was a good call. So what what a what. If somebody else's opinion who wished Donald Trump's shouldn't have gotten elected think so nothing wrong inappropriate or improper. Now his job all presidents done his job and it's not an impeachable offense to carry out different foreign policy than maybe Nancy Pelosi would've carried a moment ago. You mentioned favorably. "Admit I intentionally use Facebook and Twitter much less now, I don't think I ever barely touch Twitter anymore. You know, how far left and bias? They are then Facebook has its own thing with you know, you get in touch with people you have known for years or seen for years or heard from. But I dunno. I it's so clear what side of the spectrum there on and that makes a difference. But in the news, you have heard about their horrific murders at a Pittsburgh synagogue. It's hard to imagine. That you go pray and be with your God and your fellow worshippers, and you were murdered purely because of your faith. It's it's just incredible. Not unlike when you go to your church, and you were murdered purely because of your skin color, or you're a threatened or attempted murder is committed because of your political persuasion. They all have one thing in common. They make no sense, except when you understand there's evil in the world committed by evil and deranged people that people are not born good in. This is seems to be a battle with those. Who are I don't know religious from those who are secular, and if people are left to their own devices can commit horrible crimes as with genocide or slavery. So from the very beginning you, right? We teach our children that not every toys there. I always love it. When you go to a party, and it's your kids someone else's birthday party. The kid goes, then he your kid wants every toy that the birthday kid has because they haven't been taught right? They grow up selfish. Everything is about them when they're babies. Everybody's doting on them and fawning all over them. So that's a key difference, certainly between I think not only the religious and the secular, but the left and the right that people are not basically good because you hear it all the time with the left that you know, you gotta be understanding of the murder. Or got to be understanding of their background and stuff. Oh, yeah. There's a real issue about whether the people would be good if left to their own device, and what Dennis always code something about the German tribes. I think in the eighteenth century, they were so powerful and committed such evil and the answer was because they could. So it's important have guardrails we're good behaviors are defined in bad behaviors are out Lord outlawed or even more importantly prohibited. By by God that you'll have to answer to that that is so crucial. Because if you don't think there is something or somebody that we have to answer to win. This is all over then anything goes, right? And it's your own moral, compass that counts, and yeah, there are a lot of good people that have good morality, and you know, they would never hurt anybody. But I don't trust that otherwise, you would never get slavery. Otherwise, you wouldn't never get genocide. You can't leave people to their own devices. So that's why we have laws, but even more importantly, if you think there's. Oh, good. God that you're going to answer to and this is all over. I think that produces goop much better behavior. I think it's obvious. So that's why I say we're good behaviors are defined in bad behaviors are outlawed or prohibited. By God that you'll have to answer to. So what did we have we had fathers and mothers and sisters and brothers and sons and daughters. They did not come home Saturday. You know, you you go to a sin. Cock. And you think you have some sanctuary to use that phrase, and what was two brothers. I mean, I can't even watch or listen to the details. Could it's too depressing and a lot of them hold it. Right. It's just that. You know, they go about their business. They don't bother anybody else and purely because of their religion, they are murdered by Nevil guy who made it very clear, he's an anti-semitic in all Jews should be killed. I guess is what he's you know, I'm paraphrasing. What was going on purely? Because I think he was upset because they were part of a group that was helping immigrants come into this country even illegal immigrants and you'll hear my position. I'm sure during the day about illegal immigration one could be outraged about politics and not do what anti fa does not do what the pipe bomber does. Whatever side he wants being on it. It looks like he was on the you know, the other side. But who knows it doesn't matter. Evil is evil. No matter what you want to say. But it's hard to imagine a pain of it. All. But I will difference the dentist leave religious discussion for him when he when he gets back. No one's better than Dennis on that in my opinion. But I sure hope that there is good. God waiting for them. And that family members can find some solace that way, I wanna know your thoughts at one eight Prager seven seven six, but the worst part probably not the worst part worst part is what happened to these people. But I mean, an aligned issue here is what the media and others have tried to do to blame Donald Trump that his his the atmosphere that he has not only accepted, but you know, in some way encourage has led to evil as if I if it's only on our site, right? They conveniently forget Steve Scalise, and that the guy there it was a Bernie Sanders supporter as I remember. And he he committed total mayhem, right? If not for the capitol police that happened to be there with some of the congressman he would've wiped them all out, let alone Steve Scalise who almost succumbed his injuries. But I saw it all over the place was a yeah. Former Obama official interviewed on Fox News. Let alone of the guy didn't even. Challenge from the news host on the weekend. Didn't even challenge him when he said, oh, you know, comes from the top down and the kind of things he says and the kind of things he encouraged us as porters to do. That's why we have this kind of violence when it's been going on forever. Not to mention that. And and you certainly can't just blame the president for any particular supporter of his that commits me, whether it's a pipe bomber or and this guy winds up being anti-trump my right? He's anti job. He's on the other side. It doesn't matter thereafter, get the president at every turn whatever he does is got to be bad. And it's part of the, you know. He he's the worst president never should have been elected. He's evil. He's a bumbling fool. All those characterizations. They hate him with a passion. So everything that happens in this country. That is bad is President Trump's fault and everything that happens. That is good. That's president bums credit is credit. If you don't believe that just ask him, he'll tell you that. So this is what we have going on it. You can't avoid politics even in something so awful here, and even in some of the rabbis there was a March in my neck of the woods in the San Fernando Valley. And you could just hear at all. It's it's the spirit of the country. And it's the encouragement of this kind of thing from the even if they didn't say his name you knew who they were talking about. And I knew would happen. I bet you all of you out. There knew that would happen that one way or another. They're going to blame him for anything that happened including people who are against them. None of it matters. And we'll get into this later. I think in the first hour want to talk about the media, and the press what they've done to this present butter relates here. A relates here to these family members that will never come home again. Because the antisemitism. Look, this is the greatest country in history of the world. But there are gonna be evil people in it. They're all gonna be crazy people. There are going to be this is what I say to blacks to say is, you know. Hatred or bigotry against them and the racism in this country. Yeah, you can't outlawed. You can't get rid of it. Totally. They're always going to be people like that. And there's nothing you can do you just and here's the other thing in this horrible incident. Luck luck plays a lot in life that the you know, I think some there's always someone who doesn't go for some reason. And then they have to think the rest of their lives. Why wasn't in my time? So it's it's very difficult as I said, and you can't imagine how what these family members are going through. And it's not just them. Remember, the black church where the guy comes into whatever. His name was just kills people because they're black which is meaningless being black tells you nothing about someone being Jewish tells you nothing about their values and who they are being Christian, right? Christians are under attack in this country. That's the one group that seems to be okay. You can attack them you can get away with the right 'cause it's okay in this country. It's very depressing. Let me back the politics. That's why they hate President Trump so much because he's willing to stand up for a stand up for our values. Say things the way they are which is what we've been waiting for forever for Republicans to have some courage. So, of course, the left the liberals the media, it's all the same thing to me. Of course, they're outraged with them. Of course, he's responsible for everything bad this nothing. You can do. That's good. Maybe he's just evil is.

"The two screens terms apply Harman's becoming widespread. In all of this is coming from people who are generally unhinged. And they certainly not educated and they're not intelligent. And what's in the crosshairs with this is the first amendment? These people on the left are making a beeline for freedom of speech and come one thing or another. They're going to find a way to deny it to you and anybody that they can and they're not above using violence and threats to do. So. In wyoming. A Republican office was set on fire less than two days. After opening police say it was intentional Steve Scalise who was shot at a baseball practice, a member of congress, deranged leftist from Illinois angry that Trump had been elected came and shot up the baseball practice. Police was seriously injured took a long time to recover. He is out saying the political left needs to do a better job of policing its members who are inciting violence. It's a nice sentiment, but asking people like Chuck Schumer or or Nancy Pelosi or any of these other people to rein in s you want. You can rain in Maxine Waters. Asking them to rein in there. They're scared of him. He's Democrats are scared to death. But the it's worse than that. They don't want to rein them in Pelosi doesn't wanna rain these people in congressman Scalise. They're happy to live with the results in the outcome of this. They may give lip service. I don't think they do that. I don't think they give lip service to disapproving of this man with switchblade ramping about Trump attempts to stab Republican candidate running against Representative swale. Well, this is in Castro valley, California, Eric's wall is the democrat on TV a lot. They Republican opponent was attacked by guy with a switchblade switchblade malfunctioned or else they Republican candidate would have been stabbed. These incidents are not becoming rare are one off they are becoming comedy. You'll see any outrage at all for any of it expressed anywhere in the mainstream media. Instead, you get story to Republicans are responsible for it. They're to blame for it to radical their policies are anti woman anti this anti Trump is wanting the hurricane to come and destroy North Carolina. You got these. "At least it's honest It's amazing how quickly shut you down I'm growing up And learning so come on out to the, growth tap tomorrow five o'clock for the Minnesota beer cast presented by free, house beer, Representative Jason Lewis, frightened, by political violent political threats from the from the, left, city pages. Pete cots coats. I don't care Yeah guys dumb He, really, is Congressman Jason Lewis is. Frightening under siege the world that seems is becoming quite perilous for, the Washington elite especially the, conservative, variety, Pete we we. We've covered it he's writing it in. A, mocking, way yes he's he's mocking Jason Lewis for daring to, question the the the. Degrees of civility but? What was, it you know just a couple, of weeks ago it was becoming more and more mainstream accepted to drubbed conservatives out of the public square right, out of restaurants out of shopping malls out, of just, a you know they should. Have no peace Jason Lewis has had people show up at his house and harass his family because they. Disagree with him Steve Scalise was shot forget that yeah in look in the time when Jason road it it I mean, it still is relevant thankfully that died off. But it is still is relevant. You know violent political threats are serious starting to spend dangerously out, of control the Republican warns, that, twenty, eighteen America starting. To look like the nineteen sixties it. Absolutely, was, there's no doubt about that I think we all we're, getting over we all. Were getting very relevantly? Concerned especially, when you've got idiots like Maxine, Waters out there saying you know promoting it I never experienced a more toxic environment for speed for free speech, the now wrote wrote Lewis this is a, guy that, was on on talk radio. For for twenty something years we and then you get to Pete's I sort of comment on this right Forgive his hyperbole here's a former talk radio. Host outrageous his vocation you. Use me excuse me Pete right have you looked at your own side seriously and way to go and grab the lowest, hanging fruit of an argument right right Let me come how? Are, you Seriously oh. He's. A talk radio. Host outraged okay To be fair he. Writes. For. The, city pages he's probably. Pretty. Lazy okay Gotcha sorry, my bad that's expected now if he. Weren't lazy he probably be writing for something better he says. They'll present day America is nothing. Like the sixties right Lewis does have a point he cites the shooting of congressman, Steve Scalise a threat called in to Florida Representative Brian Massa office in which nutjob announced that he would. Find the congressman kids congressmens kids and kill him. Yet these are more an aberration than the norm the sad byproduct of living. In the most violent, industrialized, country in, the world so it's Republicans fault right very basically that's that's he's twisting his logic there in a way to make it back to to blame the victims basically to take the Steve Scalise and the Brian masks and the Jason Lewis who have, had, people show up, at his house and say yeah but you know, if you guys weren't perpetuating such a. Violent, culture then you. Wouldn't have these. By I products. He says Lewis has never shown, much interest in violence. That. Isn't. Directed, at the conservative elite. When, it comes to far, more prevalent forms say the tw- two. Hundred and seventeen school shootings Columbine he's been little more than. A thoughts and prayers guy he. Even voted to remove rules to the to the severely mentally ill look nice anecdote, ignoring the moves in the calls to protect schools over and over again that Jason Lewis did basically it. Just didn't do what Pete wanted him to do. What aligned with what Pete thought was the right thing to do so it. Was really convenient and, once? Again, lazy, to just go oh well you know he he he didn't do all these things that I feel like he should have done so again and the subtext of that he's not gonna come right out and say it but the subtext of that, is, we shouldn't be, surprised that people are violent towards Republicans when you, we've got anecdotes like this right You know we we should do you. You you you should understand that this is a byproduct of your actions why did you wear that dress to the party Jason Lewis.
