Biden meets with congressional leaders on debt limit

"The road do pressure House Republicans and the debt limit standoff. A day after meeting with top lawmakers to avoid a first ever U.S. debt default, the president said in New York, the GOP wants sharp spending cuts in exchange for lifting the borrowing limit, targeting things like schools and veterans. It's not right. White House and congressional aids have been meeting before the president next meets with leaders Friday. He's again pitching the need to cut federal spending while insisting that's separate from avoiding the default. Number two House Republican Steve scalise says the president should stay focused on the task at hand. To not just sit and call people names and spread misinformation Sagar

Rep. George Santos charged in web of fraud, including stealing from campaign to buy designer clothes

"Republican congressman George Santos has been charged in a web of fraud, including stealing from his campaign to buy designer clothes. Santos faces charges of wire fraud money laundering, theft of public funds and making false statements to Congress and indictment states he stole from his campaign and took undeserved unemployment benefits. The Republican household ready took away his committee assignments, majority leader Steve scalise. There is a legal process that charges just came out. We just saw some of them this morning. And so in America, there's a presumption of innocence, but they're serious charges. He's going to have to go through the legal process. But democratic representative Ted lieu says the house can do more if the GOP wants to. The house is not a criminal court of law. The house has its own rules, the house can choose to expel a member. Kevin McCullough Describes the Republican Congressional Leadership

"Just referred Kevin to the leadership, talk about that. Well, you were talking about holding people's feet to the fire. The leadership with McCarthy scalise, the entire team, Jim Jordan, on one of the committees. You've got, you've got a band of people in there that are significantly different than past Republican leadership teams. Number one, they're younger. Number two, they've experienced some of the real tribal hate from the left. Steve scalise was the guy that got shot by the nut job that showed up to the congressional softball practice and opened fire. You've got people that went through all of the corrupt leadership that they just saw in the previous few years. And new Jim Jordan knew that Adam Schiff was lying when he go out and speak about stuff from the Intel committee. But because Jim Jordan was able to demonstrate the falsehood because of the security clearance issue. They've been a frustrated group. Now they have the reins of actual service. And what they have to do is they have to go in there and be ready to fight every single day, like it's their last day. And typically in the past, Republican leadership teams have not had that kind of fire in the belly. It seems that this group does, and it seems like on almost every committee that the speaker has assigned leadership to. It seems like they're already making headway. For instance, last night, State of the Union, yada, yada, yada, today they're back at it already today. There's the committee, the oversight committee taking Twitter and others to task over the Hunter Biden laptop.

Rep. Jim Banks: McCarthy Promised Accountability Against Biden

"But did you have commitments from leadership notably Kevin McCarthy Steve scalise and others at the top of the hierarchy there that they're committed to this that they're not going to bow to any kind of political pressure because you know that people were dealing with here as you well know I don't need to tell you They're tough They're going to get their groups out there these money groups and the media matters types to start going after people like yourself with the home move on dot org stuff But this is the kind of thing if we don't clean up this Biden pay for play mass that our governments basically for sale forever and we look like cowards Yeah I completely agree And that's why speaker Kevin McCarthy when he earned the votes to become a speaker it took 15 votes but when he earned those votes I mean a big part of the commitments that were made to him by members like myself would be that this will be a new fighting majority and that we will hold this administration the most corrupt administration ever in the history of this country accountable for the many things that they have done to turn America upside down So we have to investigate we have to hold them accountable and let these oversight hearings and investigations lead to the type of accountability that it warrants And that's what I'm talking about I mean the classified documents found that Joe Biden's house and the Biden pen center are a part of a long pattern of corrupt dealings by the Biden family his brothers his son a lot of attention on Hunter Biden but at the end of the day this isn't about Joe Biden's brother it's not about his son It's about Joe Biden himself and how they abuse his position as senator as vice president and now as president to go out and sell access to the big guy and his family and himself even profiting off of it So I don't know that there are any other examples in American history I'm a student of history that provide the layers of corruption that you've seen out of this administration We have to hold them accountable for it

Santos probe sought by Democrats over House ethics

"Two Democrats are asking the House ethics committee to investigate newly elected Republican George Santos, who has admitted lying about his background and faces campaign finance questions. Fellow New York lawmakers Richie Torres and Dan Goldman are asking for the probe, saying Santos has failed to uphold the integrity expected of House members. Some democratic leaders say Santos should be kicked out of the house after being sworn in last week, but so far GOP leaders like Steve scalise have refused to take action. This is something that's being handled internally. Obviously, there were concerns about what we had heard. Democratic caucus CRP Aguilar notes Santos helped give the GOP at slim majority and voted to make Kevin McCarthy speaker. Kevin McCarthy owns George Santos. Locke stock and barrel. How do you see this ending? Can you see yourself voting for a consensus candidate? Can you vote for Steve scalise, for example? I'm voting for anyone who actually brings unity to the Republican Party and helps get our country back on track. To actually govern on the things that we campaigned. Well, right now our candidate is Jim Jordan. This is, he is a fighter. He is a leader. He may not want it right now, but George Washington did not want to be president. He did what was right for his country. So every court is the consensus candidate. Right now he absolutely is. And every time that he speaks up to defend Kevin McCarthy, he actually just reaffirms why he would make a great speaker.

"4th, 2023. Welcome in this early 4 a.m. hour to WTO. Teddy Kelvin is our producer among the top stories we're following for you was rewriting to this windscreen together here at TLP. Republicans are trying to regroup this day after failing on a string of votes to elect a new House speaker this week. GOP leader Kevin McCarthy failing to get even close to the number of votes that he needs to become speaker. After three different tries, they said they'll try it again later today. We'll keep you updated here on WTO. Meantime, we get the latest from Mitchell Miller. Here at WTO P on Capitol Hill. We all came here to get things done. To get big things done. But the number two House Republican Steve scalise and GOP lawmakers can't get things done until they choose a speaker. They failed to come together on three separate ballots, the first time that's happened in a century. Before the ballots, McCarthy had indicated he was willing to go as long as necessary. I don't have a problem getting a record for the most votes for speaker. But that dynamic may have changed since in the final vote of the day, 20 Republicans, including Florida's Matt Gaetz, voted against McCarthy. We struggle with trust with mister McCarthy. Republicans remain at odds, and for now, can't get a majority to agree on who will lead their House majority. On Capitol Hill, Mitchell Miller WTO. Now, despite endorsing McCarthy's bid for speaker, Donald Trump is refusing now to say if he would still support McCarthy if McCarthy failed to secure the position during an interview with NBC News, mister Trump said, he's hearing from other politicians now who want his support and that he's planning to wait and see what happens. McCarthy's bid for speaker to continue, says Trump backs him

"Republicans ended the new Congress's first day in disarray, failing to elect party leader Kevin McCarthy as the new House speaker. It was the first time in 100 years that a House speaker nominee failed to win the gavel with his party in charge. Is it the day I wanted to have? No. McCarthy vowed to keep fighting even as the GOP's most conservative members like chip Roy pledged to end business as usual. This is about the future of the country. The house is immediate future, though, is in doubt. It can't fully form without a speaker. Number two House Republican Steve scalise is urging Roy and others to drop their protest. Charlie and Congressman Andy Biggs Discuss the Speakership Race

"Joining us now, someone I have a great deal of respect for. I think I agree on every single major policy topic with. However, I do have some current concerns that I hope we can work out here about the strategy for the selection of speaker, the house, Andy Biggs, joins us right now from Arizona. Andy, welcome to the program floor is yours. Tell us what is your perspective and the strategy and the plan going into one three, which is where we're going. You will be participating in selecting a Speaker of the House. Yeah, Charlie, what's going to happen is Kevin McCarthy doesn't have the votes now. He's not going to get them by January 3rd. He's going to offer up anything he can think of to try to get those votes. And then on January 3rd, he won't get the votes and then we'll move into conference and we will find it more consensus a convivial candidate that we can support. And we'll go out and elect them to be Speaker of the House. That's the short end of it. That's a short way of explaining it. Okay, so, but who would that who would that person potentially be? I know you and I talked about this privately, but a danger concern I have is that sounds like it's going to be a circus. Well, Charlie, I am not afraid of a circus, and I don't think you are either. And also not afraid of a little bit of chaos to get to get this all cleared out and get somebody who's not an establishment type candidate. I'll give you some names that I think that might actually might work. So my name is in the mix, okay? But you also have people like a Jim Jordan. You have a person like Mike Johnson of Louisiana. You have several other people. You might even have somebody come forward, maybe Steve scalise says well, and it should be me. You actually have people in a conference, Charlie, who are very, very accomplished. Now, you have maybe not everybody's as accomplished as others, but there are some who are tremendous leaders, tremendously accomplished who have reflected conservative conscience or the conservative center of the Republican conference. And they would be available. They would come through. They probably some of them aren't going to actually even put their name out there. Would never even think of putting their name out there unless it's demonstrated to them that Kevin doesn't really have the votes. So

Joe Biden's Agenda Is Done With a Republican House

"Let me just put this in perspective so you know the electoral count three states out. If we get two of the three states, we have control of the Senate. We're going to take control of the House. There doesn't seem to be any path at all for the Democrats to take it. They got to win, of course, at this point, nothing could shut off me. But I'm feeling really confident and I think we all feel pretty good about House majority to the Republican Party. We have fired Nancy Pelosi. We flip the house. That's a huge story. Joe Biden's agenda is done. His radical agenda is finished, and maybe even more importantly, with House majority to the Republicans, with Republican control of the House, they'll be investigations over Hunter Biden. They'll be investigations over Joe Biden. They'll be investigations into the corrupt Democrats. Get ready Marjorie Taylor Greene. Come on. Come on, Jim Jordan. Come on, Steve scalise. "More, whether you're going to the gas station. And they're practically bragging like, hey, prices aren't that bad. Yeah, maybe for Joe Biden who flies around on Air Force One, telling you to drive in a Prius by yourself with three masks on. People are fed up with this. The hypocrisy of it. In the tone deafness of it, but let them let them keep talking about things that don't matter to real people because we're talking about the pocketbook issues that people are struggling with every day, how we can lower inflation, how we can lower energy costs. I would secure our border and address crime and communities and defend the rights that we have in our freedoms like our Second Amendment rights like our freedom of speech that's under attack in so many places with the cancel culture of big tech, all of this is what we've been running on with our candidates are running on while they're talking about things that are just divisive, President Biden keeps giving more speeches trying to divide America down the middle. People are fed up with that. They want to actually get an economy that works for them to get a country that fights for them. What happens to the leadership? What happens to Steve scalise when the red wave comes in? Well, obviously, if we win this majority, which again, I'm very confident we're going to win a lot of seats, not just the 6 that we need to win the majority, but I think we're going to win the large majority. And then we'll fight over, frankly, I don't even think we're going to fight over. We'll work through what those new titles would be. But we're going to have new responsibilities too. And part of that is what we're going to do starting in January to address the problems that all these big government socialists have created. It will be a lot of work, but it's going to be a lot of fun. I've been campaigning with a lot of candidates across the country. And you could see the focus in their eyes. They're ready to get to work. A lot of them are military veterans who served in combat in foreign lands and they know the fight for freedom is here in Washington, D.C. and let's go, let's go get this country back on track. And look, we'll do that with new titles, but it's going to be a lot of fun. Even if you're controlling the house, M very possibly, I think, probably the Senate. You're still have The White House and you have the veto going on there. I mean, for some people say, hey, gridlock is good at least we've stopped the bleeding at this point. Is that kind of the feeling that maybe we can just do good work by stopping what they've been doing? Yeah, and I think people are realistic about what's in front of us. I mean, Joe Biden still in The White House with all the leftists that are running the country over there. But at a minimum stop the bleeding, you know, no more of these $1 trillion bills, 1.9 trillion paying people not to work. Bailing out failed states passing Green New Deal kind of radical policies, all this gun control they've done. More than doubling the size of the IRS to go after small business owners and single moms working two jobs at a diner who they think isn't paying enough taxes. I mean, this is the stuff that people are fed up with so we can stop that. And then we can pass good bills, Tom. We can pass bills through the house to show the country how to address inflation and the higher cost of everything you buy and how to secure the border. And if Biden is the one standing in the way and he's saying, I'll detail the bills. Okay, we'll at least now we need to know we need to do in 2024. But at a minimum stop the damage show the country how we can fix these problems with bold conservative ideas that have been proven to work every other time, but right now obviously we're on the outside looking in, that will change Tuesday night. But you got to vote, but you got to vote. You got to vote. And again, we're seeing record numbers. You've seen it in states like Georgia where they changed their law to address voter fraud and you saw Joe Biden again dividing the country line. He actually tried to call a Jim Crow two and voter suppression. Well, guess what, President Biden, they've got record numbers of people voting in Georgia. They're just not going to be voting for socialists like Stacey Abrams. They're going to be voting for Herschel Walker and it drives them nuts because now they don't know what to do when all these people are voting, but they're just not voting for socialism. People are fed up with socialism. There you go. Steve scalise, thank you so much. Minority whip probably majority, something or other, pretty soon here. We'll keep our fingers crossed. The word is that it's a red wave coming, but the fear is don't let people get complacent. So what are you seeing out there right now? What's the realistic view? Well, first of all, you see incredible enthusiasm behind our Republican candidates in every part of the country, including places you wouldn't think are likely to go Republican. I mean, I've been in every corner of the country. I was in Portland, Oregon a few weeks ago where I really think we're going to flip two seats from Democrat to Republican in Portland. You look at New York. I was on the east coast last week all the way from Connecticut through New York down the Florida and we're going to flip a lot of seats in those states and you might expect, okay, yeah, Florida, we could gain four seats in Florida and you know what's going on with Russ Ron DeSantis and the wave there. But New York State, I was not only campaigning for a bunch of our candidates and we can flip three or four seats from Democrats or Republican in New York, but I was with our candidate for governor of New York, lease elden, who's a current colleague of mine. We had over 2000 people at a rally we did Wednesday night with Lee zeldin in Long Island, New York. And I mean, my gosh, the energy there. People want to take their state back. They're fed up with crime as well as inflation. Same thing in Portland, Oregon. Whether you're in Portland all the way over to New York, people are set up with crime with the far left socialism is due into our economy. I think you're going to see people voting in record numbers and voting Republicans in many cases for the first time ever. We're seeing first time candidates Myra Flores in Texas. We could have a full red wave across the Texas border with Mexico where we flip seats from Democrats to Republican with some of these great Hispanic Republican candidates we have running from Myra Flores to Cassie Garcia to Monica dela Cruz. And I think all of them have a great chance to win. So it's happening. It's real. It's all across the country. And it's exciting to be a part of Tuesday night's going to be a fun night, a late night, but it starts with everybody voting first. Make sure you vote make sure you're getting your friends to vote like the future of this country depends on it, like the Second Amendment depends on it because it does. Let me ask you something. At a certain point, we talk about why are people doing this? And I know I've seen some of the Democrats kind of pulling back. You've got old people like Tim Ryan pretending to be a gun guy and putting stupid videos up, like they always do right before the election. Look, I know how to shoot a gun. And yet you had yesterday, yet Joe Biden goes to Pennsylvania and he's saying John fetterman, this is a quote will be in the Senate will be able to help me add one more thing. What I got done when I was a senator ban assault weapons and then Biden continues, he says, ban them ban them ban them. They have no place in America. Are they that tone deaf? It's unreal how out of touch President Biden is with Middle America and you've seen their agenda just recommend class families lower income families.

The Left Media Never Cared About Violent Attacks on Conservatives

"The past several months now. We have been bringing you stories of conservatives of Republicans, pro lifers who have literally been under assault. So we've been telling you about the church as well over a hundred churches that have been firebombed and vandalized in the aftermath of the roe V wade decision. We've been telling you stories about the pro life lady who was shot in her arm, the elderly woman. We told you about the teenager in the dakotas, who was literally killed. He was run down in the streets because of his conservative beliefs, and none of these stories have made national news headlines. None of these stories have generated outrage in the mainstream media. None of these stories has caused the Democrats to rise up and denounce the violence within their midst. Not once, has that happened. Not once. Going back to senator Rand Paul, who was nearly beaten to death in his yard. Senator Paul, who is still suffering medical issues as a result of that beating and yet he was mocked and ridiculed and quite frankly his attacker was celebrated. Celebrated for nearly beating a Republican lawmaker to death. Then we look at what happened with congressman Steve scalise and what quite frankly could have been a massacre. When a Bernie Sanders supporter opened fire at the baseball practice, that was that featured a number of Republican lawmakers. Congressman Steve scalise nearly lost his life. He was gunned down. Others were gunned down as well. It could have been a massacre. And yet that story did not generate massive outrage.

How Do We Take Out the Republican Establishment?

"Lot of you email us repeatedly freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com Charlie. How do we take out the Republican establishment? Look, the Republican establishment, they've been there for quite a while. They have been very powerful. They raise a lot of money from corporate interests. So we need to pick our fights wisely. And a winnable fight and the first kind of step to being able to take back the Republican Party is to excommunicate one of the worst members of the House someone who has voted for all of the rhino policies challenging Donald Trump at every single turn. This guy proposed centering Donald Trump over January 6th. He voted for the COVID-19 hate crimes act, which would allow the Department of Justice to have more power. He voted yes on the LGBTQ business equal credit enforcement and investment act. He has an he only has an 80% reading rating from the ACU, the same as Liz Cheney, there are hundreds of Republicans with higher ratings. So this guy, he went after Donald Trump for foreign aid and all of this, but he's a very powerful person. And he runs an organization called the NRCC, the national Republican congressional committee. Now they raise a ton of corporate money to go help certain candidates. But guess what? They go help the rhinos and the moderates over helping the grassroots conservatives. And so the NRCC he's the chairman of the NRCC is kind of the establishment machinery. Now this guy, his name is Tom emmer. You probably never heard that name for you. Who's Tom emmer? You probably know at least stefanik or Kevin McCarthy or Steve scalise or Jim Jordan. You've never heard of Tom emmer. Tom emmer is one of the most powerful people in Washington D.C. you've never heard of. And Tom emmer is doing everything he possibly can to hold on to power.

The Republican Leadership Has Come up With a 'Commitment to America'

"I want to comment on the House Republican leadership. This is McCarthy and Steve scalise, who's been on this podcast and Elise Stefanik of New York. And they have put forward one, say, belatedly, because this probably should have come a lot earlier, but nevertheless, it's coming in time for the midterms. Something called the commitment to America. Commitment to America. Now, if you have sense of perspective here, you'll recognize as a kind of a similarity to something that gingrich did. And the period leading up to the 1994 midterm election. Remember, Clinton was elected in 92. And this was an anti Clinton wave that the Republicans were able to ride brilliantly in gingrich was able to nationalize the midterm election, not something that is that easy to do with the contract with America. I would say looking back on it the contract with America was a mixed success and got some things accomplished. In fact, to some degree, it put welfare reform at the front of its agenda. It even got Clinton kicking and screaming to sign welfare reform and then later Clinton took credit for the effects of welfare reform, but it was the Republicans who made him do it, and they did it themselves. There were other things that the contract with America tried to do line item veto a constitutional amendment to balance the budget. And those things ultimately faded. They didn't work. But it was a, it was a brilliant maneuver, and of course gingrich was a marvelous articulator of it. And I think with that in mind, we have this new crew, which is basically McCarthy, who apparently thinks he's a little bit of the new gingrich. Now, unfortunately, McCarthy doesn't have the charisma of gingrich. He doesn't have the intellectual firepower gingrich who actually was an intellectual gingrich was a college professor before he got into politics. And with McCarthy, you know, I approached this with kind of a, well, I'm going to call it one sheer for the GOP plan. The plan itself is not bad.

The GOP Whip Race in the House

"Beltway has many, many competitions within it right now. One is underway to become the minority whip and a new House Republican majority should that come to pass. Kevin McCarthy, the speaker, Steve scalise, the majority leader who would be the whip. Many people think it will be at least, but I think Elise Stefanik wants to be chairman of education and labor and razor national profile. Whip is an inside game. Jim banks of Indiana is my favorite candidate for that and it turns out David drucker was doing some reporting and he finds out Jim banks campaigning for it. What do you say, David, good morning? Morning hill. Yeah, I was in Iowa over the weekend and Jim banks was just outside of Cedar Rapids. Speaking at an event, we're actually Henson, a freshman representative from that part of the country. And he's traveling all over the place. And of course, this is what you do when you want to try and build a majority, win in November, but also when you want to try and collect chips and votes for a leadership election that will occur after election day. And of course, Republicans need to win the majority for this slot to open up, but I spent a little time with banks. And he talked about how he's used the job. What do you think is Kevin McCarthy as a potential speaker? And how he thinks a Republican majority will function if they can win and remember again, it's the problem you want, but winning these majorities, especially when they're still going to be a Democrat in The White House and the Senate, even if Republicans win the majority without 60 votes, it can be very challenging.

"Dot com today and schedule your free in home estimate. It's ten 11. Former president Trump is coming back to D.C. for the first time since the end of his presidency later this month. He'll deliver the keynote address at the America first agenda summit on July 26th. The appearance is being billed as a major policy speech. The group hosting the event is led by ex Trump administration officials who remain close to the former president. Dimitri sodas talks more about it with axios congressional reporter Elena trin. So they're having a two day retreat later this month, there will be a ton of top Republican leaders from across the country. Many people from Trump's administration, including several cabinet officials, 8 of them actually, 8 former Trump White House officials, many House members, including Kevin McCarthy and Steve scalise, ten senators, and other people like Newt Gingrich and some former governor. So a huge event, the significance is the former president hasn't been back here since he left office. And coming here now, the timing is really different. I think it's a really volatile time for the former president. We're seeing him sinking in the polls. People are questioning whether they would support him as the GOP nominee if he were to run in 2024. And of course, this comes right in the middle of the January 6th committees series of hearings as it wraps up its investigation into his potential culpability tying him to the January 6th capitol attack. And so a lot going on for him when he returns here. He is coming back to people that still love him are still loyal to him and are so very much in support of him and his policies. A lot of Republicans do fear that if he announces that he's running for president this fall for 2024, that could really mean big things for Democrats in the midterm elections. What are you hearing along those lines number one is the president ready to announce sooner rather than later and what could the effect be? Well, the facts could be huge. I know that The Washington Post reported that and we have a lot of reporting on axios on how he's been considering this for very long time and he's very much eager to throw his hat in the race. What I'm told is he really wants to make sure that if he does run again, that he's running in a very favorable position. And it's unclear right now that he is, of course, polls show that he's out of all of the Republicans that are being floated as a potential 2024. Nominee, he still leads. He's still ahead of Ron DeSantis and some of the other leading potential candidates. But it could be a bit. I mean, announcing now before the November midterm elections is very early. And it could have impacts on the midterms. And I spoke with some Republicans in the Senate, as well as those in the house today about this. And some of them were really hesitant to say whether that could help them or not or what it could mean for the state of some of these races. Normally, the midterms are a referendum on the president in office, not the president of the previous office or the potential future president. And so that could really skew things in the November elections for Republicans, and I'm not sure it helps a lot of them. Axios, congressional reporter Elena treed on Skype. "Looking at some communications to a number of police chiefs from the gun band people. Coaching them up on what to say when you are being interviewed. This is for police chiefs. Says language to avoid, say goodbye to gun control. This phrase is an effective political weapon that is used against us by the gun lobby with its strong links to liberal politics. This helps explain why some focus group respondents have said quote, I don't like gun control, but I think everyone should have to pass a background check. He says, focus instead on, quote, reducing gun violence. Now there's teaching them, don't say the word gun control, say reducing gun violence. And it also says the gun lobby is they use the term gun lobby, not the NRA, or the Second Amendment. In other words, tell them the cops don't say the word sick of amendment. Don't say the NRA, what you want to say is a gun lobby. It says, avoid attacking the NRA by name and instead focus on quote gun lobby or even quote corporate gun lobby, remember no one likes a powerful Washington lobby. Oh, you mean like the gun ban lobby, like every town like mom's demand like Bloomberg's group. Oh my gosh, it's amazing. 8 6 6 talk gun. Tim's with us out of Carson sitting at that line three. Hey, Tim. Hey Tom hate, love the show and some privilege to follow up on congressman slice. The reason I was calling is I want to follow up on a range report that I had on the sig P through 360 five. Compensated one. Yeah. Yep, yep. And believe me, that baby shoots like there's no tomorrow and sometimes I'm shooting targets and I'm thinking who shouldn't be behind me. I mean, because it's like, I can't believe I'm putting the rounds where they need to go. This brilliant brilliant weapon. The problem that I have, though, the criticism is that the I use 12 rum ags in that and I did the Tom Gresham philosophy of mag purchase. I have a top doesn't mags for and when I'm putting 12 rounds in that, it is, it is very, very difficult to get that 12 round mag. Into that magazine. And I called sig and they suggest leave it in there, leave your mags fully loaded and they'll loosen up over time. But I mean, it's so bad, literally I can't even, if I were to try to put around. Let me change. Let me address that. I've run into that with a number of different guns through, well, through the decades, frankly, where if you load the magazine up all the way, it just won't go in. Particularly with some of the full capacity, higher capacity magazines. What I've done, and this I'm going full practical on you here, not like gee, we shouldn't have to do that. But what I just do is I just download the mags by one rep. It's like, okay, it's a 12 round. I'm going to put 11 rounds in it. I've got one in the chamber. So I've got 12 rounds, and I would rather have that and have full reliability. And yes, if the magazine spring ends up, weakening a little bit later, and I can do it with 12 great, but we can say that she shouldn't be that way. I've just decided not to lose sleep about it. Sleep. And I just download the mag by one round and go about my business. So I mean, that is how I have approached it and not just with sigma with everybody because this is not exclusive to them by any means. Yeah, because I agree with you completely. In fact, that's the solution that I arrived at also. Because I found all as well that I can't even get the magnet to seat correctly. In the weapon, unless you really slam it and then the slide lock. And you know, just thinking about that, when you go to defensive classes using AR-15s, they will almost university tell you on a 30 round mag helo 27 rounds. On a 20 round mag he loads 17 or 18 rounds, always. I mean, that's what they always tell you. And you're willing to give it a brand. No, I won't reliability. So this has been going on for decades. And I understand where you are, it's a little frustrating, you think, but I want that extra round. Yeah. Think of it as this way. It's the 12 round mag gives you 12 rounds with.

"Yeah. And then the list keeps growing. It's definitely never ending list because we saw this. I mean, she's in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I was a state rough back then. And they had sent police door to door confiscating people's guns. It actually happened in the United States of America. I passed a bill in Louisiana to prohibit anybody from ever being able to do that again in our state and then ultimately groups like the NRA and gun owners of America went and got a national law pass to do the same thing, but I watched it happen. They went door to door and there was no 9-1-1, by the way, for days you didn't even have power in your house. And so you and your house with your gun was your only line of defense. And when they came and tried to take people's guns it was shocking, but it really did happen. And that's where they want to go with this. Exactly. So all right, you're the minority whip, but we've got midterm elections coming up. How are we looking for this? The midterm elections, I wish they were coming up tomorrow because people are angry about this far left socialist agenda that Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi all the leftists running Washington right now. Look at what they've done with massive spending with massive regulations driving up inflation, gas prices over $4 and 80 cents a gallon because Joe Biden shut down American energy. He's going to go to Saudi Arabia and beg OPEC to produce more oil. He allowed Putin to have more leverage over Europe and America by shutting down America's pipelines and yet green lighting Putin's pipeline and now we're more dependent on Russian oil. Why don't we just turn away from the dictators and say yes to American energy, people are fed up with all the things that they've been seeing from this administration. And they're paying for it every day when they go to the grocery store when they fill up their tank crime in the streets. You're looking at foreign policy debacles, all of this. Look, I think we're going to have a huge election wave where people say enough is enough of these big government socialists. And I think we're going to win a big majority. My only thought is that for those who are thinking here, we're going to win big. Is it make sure that you're registered to vote? And then you get out to vote because you can't just expect everybody else to do it for you. Well, that's a great point, Tom, because there is going to be, I think, a large turnout this election, but if you're one of those people, I just think let somebody else go take care of it. You can't sit on the sidelines. People see what's going on. They're angry. But they can do something about it. They can at least flip the house, flip the Senate. I do think the Senate is going to flip with the house, but it's going to take everybody getting up and going and voting against all these big government socialists who are voting for all these radical policies. And then let's at least put a stop to the madness and then focus after that on 2024 to get a president of Republican president that actually wants to turn this thing around. There you go. Congressman, thank you so much for letting us interrupt.

"A minute ago score a big deal. It just a few minutes we're going to be able to get House minority whip, congressman Steve scalise is going to be joining us. This is big deal. This is a huge deal. So don't go far. I want to get his take on this discussion that's going on about your gun rights. All right, that could be 6 6 talk gun will get you in here. Let's see, Jim, do we have the congressman with us? All right, fabulous congressman Steve scalise joins us right now, minority whip. Congressman, thank you so much for taking just a little bit of time out of your day. Tom great to be back with you. Absolutely. I don't know if you have probably not have noted it because you're very busy man, but we're coming up on the 5th anniversary of you being shot, tempted to assassination of several Republicans out there and a lot of people in the media were surprised when you didn't turn around and immediately endorse gun control. You want to explain that? Yeah, you know, Tom, it was odd when I was asked about this a few times I know I did chuck Todd's show on meet the press and that was the first question they have asked. And I said, well, first of all, my beliefs in the Second Amendment are rooted in my core values and the values of the country and why the Second Amendment really the founders felt they didn't even need to put a protection for guns in the constitution because they thought it was an assumed right and then later a tax came on the Second Amendment and it was added in and the Bill of Rights and so first of all guys have done to save my life. If they shooter was the only person that had a gun, I would not be here right now. And how many times a day do we see a gun used to save lives and it's never reported just last week in West Virginia. There was what would have been one of the lead stories of the country for days, a guy tried to shoot up a party of young kids and there was a woman there with a concealed carry permit handgun and she used the handgun to take down the shooter who had a rifle. And he killed him. He didn't have a gun. And some of my colleagues in Washington don't believe in concealed carry permits and think it's wild wild west. Well, by the way, the guy that had the gun that was trying to kill everybody, he was a felon who's not legally allowed to date to have a gun. So when they talk about all these laws, we need more laws. There's hundreds of laws on the books. Criminals don't follow the laws. Law abiding citizens are buying guns at record numbers because of the lawlessness out there, whether it's defund the police this crazy movement or these DAs who aren't even putting criminals in jail. People to protect themselves and their family. And I benefited from people with guns that were able to save me because they're good guys with guns. And so no, my view is only hardened because I understand they're bad people that are out there and it's knives, it's guns, it's bombs, whatever they're going to use, we've got to be more vigilant in trying to stop them before they do it, not trying to go after the weapon of choice for whatever it is today because millions of law abiding citizens are going to be heard in the process. If you would, give us a peek behind the curtain because I know there's a lot of intense discussions going on in Congress right now with a lot of folks on the Democrat side wanting to pass their whole shopping list of gun control laws, and yet I sense that a lot of people in the country are looking at this and going, you do understand that these guys are all breaking the law anyway. What's going on? What are the conversations? And what are we likely to see coming out of all this? Look, in the after shot, aftermath of any mass shooting, my first stocks are praying for the families, the victims. There are people in the hospital still struggling for their life. I was there. I needed those prayers that people were giving from all across the country to pray for me to make it through the day. And I did. Thank God. But right now, when you get on the left is, as soon as there's a shooting like Yuval, they're not talking about praying for the victims. They're talking about promoting their gun control agenda and it really gets annoying because the bills that they were talking about in the day of the shooting had nothing to do with the shooter. HR 8 was their bill of the day that they were saying, okay, there's a mass shooting. We need to pass HR 8. We'll go read HRE. It would have had absolutely no effect. Would have made it harder for you to loan your neighbor or gun if she's afraid that her ex-boyfriend is going to come and beat her up that night and you loan or her to your gun and she uses it defend herself. You're now fell in under HR 8. So HRE is not the answer, but that was what they were saying in the day of the shooting. Instead of praying for the victims, praying and trying to find out the facts, let's get the facts. Let's see if there are things we can do to prevent these shootings and other violent incidents before they happen. We have this approach after 9 11, where we said we need to be more vigilant about connecting the dots. We didn't ban airplanes. We got a lot smarter about connecting dots and we prevented future impacts, thank God. Right. I think we can do the same thing if we put our minds to it. But right now, the less immediately goes to taking away your guns. As their answer, Joe Biden the other day talked about taking away handgun guns. He wants to go after the 9 millimeter hand up. What they're real thoughts are. It's not about stopping, it does. I mean, it's a problem. Every time he talks, he's like he includes yet more guns he would like to ban and then when he says, you know, the 9 millimeter will blow a lung out of a body and you're going, okay, number one he doesn't know what he's talking about, but number two, and you said, it kind of exposes the lie where they keep telling us, well, nobody wants to take your guns, and at the same breath they say, but here's a whole list of guns we.

And I'm going to teach him how to build a stock. With that combination of good metalwork and my stock, they're going to be able to produce rifles to the standard that I established in 1984. Where we're at right now, Tom and it's kind of it's always been a pleasure to me to recognize that we started in 1984, but a lot of my rifles are at work and on the third generation. Granddad bought it, used it for his hunting career, gave it to his son, who's used it for his career, and now the grandson's got it. Wow. You know, one of the criticisms I've had is that Pelosi never really wanted to just get the facts. She wanted to make this a very political and partisan committee. She kicked Republicans like Jim Jordan and Jim banks off of the committee when Kevin McCarthy was going to appoint him because she didn't want to get the facts out. She wanted it to be a witch hunt committee going after anybody, not just people that went into the capital on January 6th. People that weren't even in D.C. on January 6th to screw their gone after. Two. And so let justice be swift but let it be fair and what about the people that were burning cities down over that summer? Why don't they want to go after those people? They don't want to go after the people on the left that were shooting and killing cops and burning down police stations. They just want to talk about January 6th and try to blame everything on Donald Trump and it's not accurate and I think people are done with it. Follow this man at Steve scalise right now on Twitter also Republican whip dot GOV. Congressman scalise, how much do you think the political landscape has changed in just the last four days here in the United States with the acceptance of the offer by Elon master purchase Twitter? Do you expect a fairer social media landscape or should we not put our trust in just another billionaire? But reaction from the left, it must be really good for us and anybody who believes in free speech because the less on nuts over it. In fact, some of the radical Twitter employees are even going up in arms about it. But Twitter like a lot of other social media platforms years ago started off as true platforms for free speech. You have ideas, whatever they are, if they're left right, socialist, let everybody go and exchange ideas. And if the left is so insecure that they don't think anyone that challenges their ideas should be heard from, it's probably because they know their ideas are bad. And if you point out facts, you point out how freedom actually works, go look at the states right now. The states that are shutting everything down and cancel in people like New York and New Jersey and California are losing millions of people, two states that believe in freedom like Florida and Texas. So the public's already figured this out, the oligarchs in big tech don't want it. But Elon Musk is shaking it up. I'm encouraged by what he's doing time will tell, but at least you've got a new signal that somebody that actually has been a very strong advocate for freedom of speech, not just the speech you and I believe in, but people that disagree with us have an equal opportunity to go out there and make their case in a public square and let the best ideas win. One more question for you, whip scalise before you go and whip the conservative representatives into shape. At the top of your Twitter feed, I see tweet after tweet after tweet about energy independence about America being serious about its energy sector. We've got the breaking news of Russia cutting its oil supply to Poland and NATO ally to Bulgaria and then breaking news literally as we walked into the studio, Biden is again banning incandescent lightbulbs like Obama did. He's reversing the Trump policy that Americans get to choose what kind of lightbulbs they buy. Given this insanity, which sounds like a skit, a comedy skit. I gotta ask you a question I ask all of our political guests are there any normal Democrats left in the swamp that you can talk to as Russia is cutting off energy to our allies, the Biden administration is focused on banning lightbulbs. There's very few and it's Sebastian like this shows you how out of touch Joe Biden and speaker Pelosi, the AOC wing that's driving the agenda right now are with regular folks. I mean, people that are tired of paying four or 5, $6 for gas in America, but also recognize that under Donald Trump we were energy independent. We were exporting oil and natural gas to our allies around the world. We should be doing more to help Europe so that whether it's Poland or Germany or any other country, they don't need to get their oil or natural gas from Russia. And they shouldn't have to because we can produce more here, except that President Biden shut it down. He made it clear by the way, as a candidate. Go look at his speech when he was in the Democrat primary. He said he's going to stop drilling on federal land. Stop drilling on private lands. He's going to stop drilling any halves. No new pipelines authorized. New new LNG export facilities authorized. No new drilling permits on federal lands authorized and it's having a price cost. It's costing people more for gas because of what Biden did. We should reverse that. Let's open up our energy production. And then let's go shut down Russia. Russia won't have the ability to finance this war or to threaten countries with energy, which is what they've always done. If we export more oil and more natural gas to our friends around the world, as we're producing enough to take care of ourselves, we can do it. We were doing it under Trump with his policies..

"And the crazy thing about this Tucker is that it was all done for the sake of protecting Liz Cheney I mean at the time I was protecting president Trump from impeachment and Kevin McCarthy was protecting Liz Cheney from criticism And now she is owning them with their own words and maybe Liz Cheney has done us a favor because now finally you don't have to be a lobbyist with a $5000 check to know what Kevin McCarthy and Steve scalise really think Fight fight fight fight fight fight fight Uganda is like a big fight in Madison Cawthorn's crotch and Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren voter are in there fighting each other and fantastic Okay Matt Gaetz more Just one more He said it was he was sorry if it caused many problems People But what I said to Steve scalise is that if you accuse someone of potentially breaking the law and by the way he wasn't reacting to something he raised the prospect of the illegality of my statement that Liz Cheney was anti Trump I know I really went out on a limb there Tucker But if you accuse someone of breaking the law you have to say what law you think they broke and you have to present what evidence you think you have And if there is no evidence you need to acknowledge that And if not then you're like maintaining this fiction for the sake of your own pride and that's not what leaders do You mean evidence like it's in the Venmo line that this was for underage teen girl I mean stuff like that Fight fight fight big bag of Always talk to somebody about fights rules too Okay so Marjorie Taylor Greene in law but are in a giant girl fight and you know no one knows girlfight rules better because we got a few scraps on sexy liberal tour and I'm just saying.

"Hold the details off and try to spin something when you know darn well that the american people aren't going to be back to full employment till twenty twenty four then the next thing that he takes aim at folks is the fifteen dollar minimum wage hike from where it stands today at seven dollars and twenty five cents. Who don't say that too loud. Seven dollars and twenty five cents. Do you notice that whenever the republicans are talking about the minimum wage. Whenever they're bringing it up they never talk about where it is today. Seven dollars and twenty five cents an hour. That's because it's so frigging embarrassingly low. They don't wanna talk about it. They never talk about it like yeah. That's a seven dollars and twenty five cents. What's wrong with that. That's a good wage. Son yes you can support a family of three on that seven dollars and twenty five cents. No they never spent like that. It's always like oh my god that fifteen dollars an hour is gonna kill us that so high. It's terrible high own my god. It's never like the seven dollars and twenty. Five cents is so low. No it's the fifteen dollars is too high. That's how they always frame it. You know tried to get him to talk about that seven dollars and twenty five cents and they'll start talking about the weather or something like that. But steve scalise uses the use the c. b. o. Report the congressional budget office report to say that the hike would cost two point seven million jobs and then also goes on to say. Why do we need that now. When businesses are struggling to make payroll okay so two things about that first of all the minimum wage hike is stretched over what five years you know for one and the other point is that. He's just cherry picking information that came out of that. Cbo report the c. b. o. Says that there's a one out of three chance that the number is actually between zero and a million jobs cost There's one out of a three chance that it's between zero jobs. Lost a million jobs lost and then they say oh. Yeah by the way. There's a one out of three chance at the numbers at between a million and two point seven million jobs lost so out of those two things. Which when you boil it down folks. They're basically sanders one out of three chance. That might be zero jobs. Lost and a one out of three chance at it might be two point seven..

"Wounded, injured or blinded, kill ships that were killed. For that matter, David Dorn gunned down how many Acts of violence. Have we seen play out in service of politics over the past few years, and especially in the service of left wing causes? This needs to stop. It does need to stop it. I'm glad the president said that. But again, the president's been the one who consistently has been decrying that violence all along and been saying over and over again. We're a nation of laws. I didn't hear that coming from the left, and I think it had to be a bipartisan call to stop the violence. You know the whole Steve Scalise shooting and all of that? That was a very low Did you notice the response was kind of low key to most people even forgot about it. If that had been an assault on the Democrats, and you had a Democrat lawmaker who was almost killed That person. I mean the name of the person of the gunman would we would never forget. It would be burned into our memories because they would be beating the drum over and over and over again and using it for political purposes, and I'm glad that Steve Scalise said. You know, don't use this for political purposes. I chose not to use this for political purposes. That was his choice, And at the time I agreed with him seeing the way the Democrats have acted since then I sometimes wonder if maybe he should have, and that's a really sad thing to think. That shooter James Hodgkinson again attempting to massacre those Republican congressman that that story by the way, if we're if it weren't for Steve Scalise keeping that story alive and talking about that that story would be all but memory hold right now.
