"We are tough times over there as well and i've been unbelievably lucky to not just remain in the industry but the state of the state place and listen. I got young kids man. I'm to keep going for another decade for sure. So we'll say they're gonna have sports and just thinking about the toys and another you know. How old are your kids so my boys just turned nine couple days about twin boys just turned nine and my daughter is going to be in lebanon a couple of months. I i late grow love. You know what. I would love some advice on that because i'm engaged i'm thirty eight. She's twenty five so we're like all right. We got five four or five years but like also you know man like i remember having a friend noah hostetler related to the the hostile qb. Yeah yeah. I think somehow cousin cousin but his dad knows knows my age. His data member when we were like nine was like seventy five and it was shocking. It was like he was fit seventy five year old guy which we've seen those guys are like intimidating to say the least because they're just like your like what have you done to stay this sharp or what are you taking. Where can i get it. And so what i mean. Wh what when did you start. How what's on my accent. I was ten years younger than i was. We was married at forty four worst. My daughter at forty five okay and then we went again and we got lucky there because we had twins and boys at forty seven so the twins conceive on the time. Line if you will your wait another two years or so. So i catch a break there but yeah so i definitely look older that my kids. Dad's games baseball parties. But i think my job still makes me sort of the cool dad. Granddad not ready for that but i would say you have a few years. Okay and then get going. Yeah is is are they sports fans are they like do they dig what you do and do they. I mean obviously if they get to go to a really cool event but my two boys are really really into one. Son is out of control into it awesome. What sleeps with his football wide receiver gloves on that kind of come on and when i tell them sam darnold guttural. That's that's going to be a hard conversation to have a seven number fourteen jerseys. Green and white throwback traditional so have to put those on ebay or something but one of the boys really into the other boy is into it also and my daughter's like a cooler dads on tv doesn't matter what i'm talking about a i don't know the same way like i used to date a news reporter right and when she was coming up. Did the embassy page program in new york You know. I think. John stamos abandoned. We don't we don't know for sure but it didn't work out. She was at a party steam. His same was trying to talk me. I gotta go click. And that was the beginning of the end but but she went to reno she went to reno to try to As like a an upgrade the first market and just seeing the grind of that and then he buddies from sec in sports broadcasting and journalism going to small markets to do one from s c. Two i think Virginia to be a weekend sports guy. And and did you do that. Trajectory is that the only way or were obliged to ask. I always hesitate. I go back to being the luckiest guy. I didn't have to okay and you know. I cautioned and young people want to be in the business about this goes on the one in a million guy who didn't have the novelist i tried to get those jobs most markets and i just didn't i remember coming out of school. I wanted to be the voice of the binghamton rangers. Upstate new york and they called me in and it. We're gonna pay me twelve thousand dollars a year year round. Do the games do sales. And the kicker was on the road. I had a room with the bus driver. And that's where my mom drew the line sort of you know. And i still wanted the job by the way and i finished eighth. Okay as in the running so seven people who were better than me and wanna bet job own and so there so but the truth of it is i did start a new york city my first professional on air experience radio for a long time but instill still was it was w nbc stern. I miss that station and at seven pm. They went to sports. Was dave sam's mike breen. Who dave sam's voice on. Yeah yeah. Mike greenberg voice of the nba for us on espn wc. And they would send me to hofstra. And i would. i would make hostile. Might eight our full day. They would put me on a two minute. Take these covering the jets. And i think i got paid fifty bucks a day. So listen on. Nbc radio in new york so that part of it. I got really really lucky and made a lot of great connections there. See your like the ashton kutcher broadcasting where you showed up got discovered at a coffee shop. They were like. Hey you should under Be an underwear model and then boom movie star. Yeah outside of the underwear and taking my clothes exactly like yeah i was. I was lucky did have a break. I had one connection. You know. And so i tell everybody. Hey bobi ever embarrassed. Take advantage of some kind of connection. You know a guy knows a guy guy. Because everybody's going to do that. Why wouldn't you do that. And so i work really hard my doodles internships and a gave up my summers and i still were really hard but you also have to get a little bit lucky and the way so you did do internships and stuff. She did like half to. You can't just show up at espn after week. Get beyond air and have not had a. Yeah let's do this because this became really controversial thing This was about three weeks ago. Someone on twitter said they offered someone. Unpaid internship wasn't me and i say unto unpaid internships were the key was the stepping stone or something like that for me and i got hammered. I got.

"Wait and get tackle nominee. Ice hockey guys aren't playing around either. Wait so who's how often does that happen. Maybe i haven't been to enough games. Not that not that. You got to climb high over the glass glass pretty high so you get through nylander game. Maybe a couple of years ago. You mentioned kevin harlan. Do you have a crew of guys that you you looked up to like from me. Obviously coming into comedy right greg. Giraldo the gnaws wall Chappel eddie murphy You know just there's a you know guys that are you know kind of more obscure David cross and guys that obviously weren't like at the top The top of the game. Who were those guys for you or gauss. So so just getting this monday night job last season you know. I reached out which by the way fucking unbelievable. I mean that's crazy. Go on but we'll get back into that it was. It was crazy to me too. But in fact it's it's still crazy. Go smoke to all three guys. Would sort of the seat before me mike. To rico and sean mcdonough and joe tested were all extremely gracious. And it's kind of weird right when you say look up to because they really my contemporaries all about the same age no varying degrees of experience but all the same age but Growing up in new york the guy we all want it to be kid couldn't play wanted to announce and one of the professional idols marv albert for sure your so many of us out there that Tinge of sound tube and the and the timing and all that and you don't back in my day. He was doing knicks and rangers. The six o'clock news. The eleven o'clock news and in-between the news. He was going to the garden and doing a game. So that we all want it to be and i became franchisees suncani who's now a great broadcaster on just about every single network. Yeah well so those kind of the guys. I don't really know like a little friendly with joe. Bach his wife works at espn so reached out a little bit. Both talk at michael's one day or jimmy. Not sure they know who i am but hopefully one day sent they do by the way that's crazy. I just assumed probably the same way. People assume with comics are actors. You get to a certain level that i owe you just know everybody. There's a there's a clever. There's a boat party every year. We're like all the The top broadcasters. Go to kick it like russell. I'm not at that level i have. I have the job for one year. But i don't consider myself at that level. I'm in that second tier that's a really great tier being hopefully one day. We'll get to that next boeton vote. Maybe i'll have a boat. But if you make a t shirt with your face on it saying maybe i'll have a boat i mean i'd i'd buy twenty those and give them out to. Is that a seattle cracking hat. You were yeah baby. It is so score ready. They scored already with the name. The logo the colors sweaters. Great i wanted to ask because again. I've been to maybe eight hockey games. Total two of them were king stanley cup games which spoiled with amazing seeds. And just and then. I've been in hockey. You know we had seattle. We had a a aaa team right but didn't really go a lot and when you don't have a big professional team i think really to get Excited about the sport. I didn't play. Add friends played but again not going to consistently as a kid. That's why Hoops baseball and football. Were were my sports. And i've gotten more into it. But i'll tell you this much dude. You know the big games like even the candidate. Us olympic game. You know handful years ago There are certain games. I get real jacked up and live. It's way better. I always said hockey for me is like the kardashians you know like. I can't really watch it on tv. But lie. but. If i saw kim kane caitlyn at a starbucks being like you know what do you mean. I don't know about man You know i used to be one. I'd probably stick around or another cocktail. So hockey live is like you know. It's it's on another level and i can't wait for an and thank god. Seattle has come out to support it and hopefully it will. you know. make a splash. But obviously it was a big deal for vegas does it. Is it exciting for you to know that more cities get it and like should be on board. Yeah me seattle is one of my life. I have no affiliation to seattle but travelling the country for sporting events. Like seattle is in my top three. Nfl experience no shedding. The fans are over stadium. It'll the best home field advantage in the nfl. Green bay candidacy. You're good but there is something special about seattle. My hockey pow barry melrose when you know He's always taught so he coached back junior. I think seattle thunderbirds maybe but the great following their The fans really rallied. This is a much different level. Obviously so it's gonna be great at. Everything's great seattle man. I love cd. Nba go back there again. I mean that was a real shame lose masonic but the business. That's the business that way but there is nothing like hockey in the building. Unfortunately goes against what i sort of. Do you could make the argument. The other sports of better and whole right could make that argument. Yeah and that's something. That baseball football is fighting. Very hard against you know but hockey really is in the building a special end. Listen had an unbelievable fear. The nfl rights get resigned on the mass appeal for espn and now got the nhl coming back home for seven years. So it's been good to that's unbelievable. Today's episode of the about last night podcast is brought to you by five four clothing and the menlo house. If you know anything about me you know that. I like clothes. I love the by him. I love to wear 'em that's what they're for and you only look good. Feel good right. That's where five four clothing comes in. I've been fucking with five four clothing for years. Now they got this company menlo house. That's got five four new republic grand running club and melrose place all under the menlo house. Banner and it's a baller khloe company for dudes. They've got t shirts shirts. Jackets sweaters jeans pants. Shorts active wear shoes accessories. and more. And.

"Me and led to hear your take like it helps if i'm just sitting there in silence pre show i it's not going to dictate how the entire show goes but i definitely feed off of just chop it up a little bit and getting some conversation going almost just kinda like warming up right. Yeah absolutely. that's exactly right even little momentum going into it. I think you're onto something here. I also hate that. okay here. We go three two one take a beat and then go back on so and so i think you can have a really good time but maybe do some of this already like you know all idiots like myself who can't be your out their own zoom second in focus house my writing. I think people would get a kick out of seeing how all the people they see on. Tv in stained our everybody else. The parent teacher conference my second grader. You know what i mean. I look at the total to their teacher in front of my kids. Now it's also That's that's as much better than go. Three two one go roman tease the your your first sportscenter was how many years ago now august one of ninety three toed and brought there was there was no training ground so back in the day right there was no. Espn to know espn news. No radio my first shift was like a week. After i got in the building. I was on sports center on main. Espn holy holy shit. Aaa bring kids. You know they sit around you watch you observe for six months. My what. And then they put them on. Espn news to at three in the morning when not a lot of people are watching launch sporting events but there was no run up when i was there do you. Are you glad that you had to kind of just get thrust into the The wolves then as they say like instead of having a so whatever boring to sit around right. I probably needed a week. Let me see how these guys at the highest level do it you know. Let me let me see and then all right and you know when you're doing local sports which was my background in new york doing three minutes on the eleven o'clock news right so i go free minutes of sports to doing it. S and sixty wounded on forza do the equivalent of an open mic with three minutes. Headlining a week after they started. Stand up and doing our which by the way nobody would pay for so much harder than my thing was. I mean you know it's debatable. But i mean okay so before we Take a trip down memory lane. Take me back to oswego new york. Where exactly new york did you grow up. So i grew up. I went to high school on long island. Great okay and the big three of four if you will from is all adam schefter the warriors and all stuff. You know entourage right. don't come on. I mean those guys are yeah jerry linda creator of course on the podcast. Okay also my school very well known kenny. Dichter of wheels up. Whoa how's that for a fierce enforcing same high school. That's amazing i've got. I've gotten me. Rainn wilson glendon rush and yeager. Rosenbaum's brother sal rosenberg. Whose a big rapper in the northwest. But i think globally as i found out. But i didn't know but because even even if you've been told sal rosenberg is a big rapper. You're still like all right. Let me fucking let me go. Like i haven't heard of any big ju wrappers in the last ever so that was my high school upstate. New york for college. State university It's up by syracuse. Oh yeah Al roker went there. Let's cone jerry seinfeld for a semester or a year. It's it's really cold up there. Apparently jared like the cold. All the classes were tougher. Whatever and then he went down to queens college after that. but that's my name drops by claims. I'm not a homework guy or snow guy that's dubbed it. Okay so sports have been in your blood. It's impossible to not do what you're doing by the way one of the goats dude you already before i knew you. Man were in my mount rushmore of broadcasters. And yet dude i mean and not just for the the deep catalog of And you tell me but like to do hockey baseball football what. I know that you've done like on the highest level. But you tell me if you've done like coming up did you. You know you jumping into like tennis or golf or bowling. Like no so. I never been a joke about it in the studio like if you watch the show is very closely. I almost never do the golf highway. Right i'm just. I'm not a golf guy. I never got bitten by me. Neither man i appreciate it. We're the minority thousand. My dad is joe. Why don't you get into golf more. And there's so many comics do all golfing. I can't play basketball anymore. Which is also about now but but at thirty. But i don't know do just fast pay. I need it's too slow man. I don't know. I just wear the joke is i. Don't do country club. Sports golf tennis and sort of leave the everybody else right. And they're really good at it. Right man pendleton. Anderson of soga kenny mean. And they're all that stuff. So i've always been on the stick and ball the big four and grown up in new york mostly professional sports and so do in college football soda allowed me to see a whole different whole window into a sports people that i've never been around. That was wow. The passionate college sports fans have so that was quite an adjustment to college. Fans do you think arguably are the best fans in sports or just too big of a conversation. It's a deeper kind of fan. You know college football fan man. You got to go to a big place again from me to a saturday night at lsu right or go to alabama on a saturday afternoon to clemson like these places. I probably would have never seen an ever experienced. And i'm so glad. I did of passionate people have and the amazing thing is the college stadiums are bigger than nfl. Sti right. people don't really know the grow. Bigger college stadiums are bigger and they get six home games. That's it so those stadiums are barely touched right now. So i've concerts than the spring game and all that but for the most part it six or seven days a hundred thousand fans why and so an and that takes them through. Obviously the entire year takes care of those college towns obviously financially. He's awful hotels charge. Eight.

"I want to finish up with hockey Your your hockey tenured. Espn obviously is very notable. You've you've covered the stanley cup forever. You i think called the longest televised. Nhl stanley cup playoff game in history. At least as a us broadcast right. Five overtimes pittsburgh philly and done. I had done the three longest ever canada. us anywhere. i had them the three longest ever and one of them got knocked out last year. I think i've two of the longest three young couple of i'm dan. Okay so and that. By the way is its own skill set to call the nhl versus versus other sports. You know one of the things. That's been very identifiable for you. Is i would say you. Linda cohn and barry melrose obviously are the three most prominent figures associated with hockey at espn. Now of course everybody knows what you grow my apologies. The jumpers grass absolute yet social media juggernaut with his overtime. So you're right so you're for those who grew up with espn. Obviously we saw a lot of hockey at espn before versus outdoor life network nbc esn. Has the contract. Where does your confidence lie. Doubt within your espn lifespan. They will either get the nhl back in some form or that the nhl we will become more prominent as an espn entity. Heading forward So what what's the difference. Between those things we get the rights back or becomes prominent on. Espn the rights back. I mean obviously if you get the major package back well that's a game changer. And obviously you got so. I know you there are going to be games in some form. Probably espn or espn. Plus i should say but you'll have to admit like while the sport is still covered by. Espn it's not as prominent in the nfl and it's not as prominent as college football or or ufc or college basketball and your hockey guy. So i'm just wondering for you like that been like for you. The sports still exists on your at your company and your network but it's not as prominent as obviously some of the other sports that appear. They're the people behind the scenes. Like you know you just mentioned those four. Obviously i love for the game. The people behind the scene. Well we lost the rights. I noticed fifteen sixteen years ago. I mean it was. It was like people lost their puppy like i mean camera. People audio technicians all studio on me. People were like devastated like they lost a family member. The love for hockey run so ranch so deep back in the day That we i optimistic. We're going to get another piece of at back. But i've heard i've been down this road before every time. The contract is come up and i heard from executives in the past. Hey we were right there but you know right of first refusal. They could always go over the top. Whatever it was we offer night. I stay away from that stuff. It's way way way above me but it was kind of cool to be in the know a little bit. So i definitely heard the whispers in the mix. Were right there. It's getting close. So i am optimistic. We'll get some form of it back. And obviously i'd love to be a part of that. That would make for a pretty great levy year right to do monday night. Football figure finish up the super bowl in australia and had right in the nhl. The stanley cup final. Take the summer off. That's a pretty good year rich when you're calling the nhl versus the nfl. Like are you intentionally telling yourself either mentally or something else that you gotta go quicker. Pace has got to be. You know it's it's it's you know. You said an for calling one night. Football and i thought it was a smart like you took a beat. You wanted to bring down at times. Well the nhl. You can't bring it down it's to be the reverse right. You gotta go. You gotta go up. So is that how you navigate that because those are two different sports totally different totally different skill. The way you handle that because there's no looking down. You can't look down in hockey. There's there's really no looking down so there's no spot or you're on your own and it is just constant flow constant action and listen. I could be talking for you. Know four or five minutes without the analyst ever jumping in and obviously the nfl. That's different the play by play. Could be twelve seconds right. The actual action itself in the nfl could be twelve seconds. And then i have an opportunity to look down and come up with a story but the nhl it's totally different and you know the nhl people always. Hey what's the toughest sport. The call hockey must be the most difficult i back in the day. I got the call called five major league baseball games and so a me. I was the hardest thing i've ever done it. There's so much space so much time. Right in between pitches an outs and innings and the silence and the dead air and it sounds uncomfortable. It's probably not but when you're in the booth it just felt that way and so hockey. That gogo is always been for me. I love that pace in that and then the nfl was was definitely different. It was a quick burst kind of being with the enthusiasm and again. I didn't get to experience with the crowd. Right these me screaming touchdown. I was always concerned. The guys in the field could hear me right and empty stadium. Like i'm going to bother them. You know and i think the crowd helps any broadcaster rise up and nothing sounds better than you know. Big time scoring plays regardless of the sport when the crowd roars you lay out and so we really didn't lay out in the nfl this year. And that's a big part of my style. I think whatever style i have. I speak less generally speaking than than most play by play. Broadcasters especially in a three man booth lens to a lot less words from the play by play person anyway but that was a little harder without having the crowd and the hockey crowd in the playoffs. That crowd is just incredible. Just listening to what we love about sports man. I i think. I go to more games as a fan. Made it that anybody in the industry really. I still love my off. Days off. Nights i still love going to games. It helps me professionally because i understand what our audience is is going through in terms joe. Hey paying for parking sitting in lie. Waiting live at a bathroom how much the beer cost. Tv timeouts in the arena in the stadium. So i feel that. I understand that aspect of it but i still love going to games and that's baseball included. And whenever i can. I just do that so you know. I'm just a massive sports fan. I am excited to be there. I am excited to be in that spot and why. Go back to sort of how we started home. I'm the luckiest guy.

"Year. Well we certainly think it was and it was really cool to be caught up in it right and it had you know. It wasn't a surprise because these were to good teams lot of star quality. And then really how how the whole thing worked which was really cool right. Somebody on the field spot. The mars like we're like what lamar is gone. And so we think he might have been gone forty minutes a real clock obviously not game clock real real life clock forty minutes and we'll trace mcsorley getting loose then mcsorley gets injured. And that's when the two minute warning came and then jimmy gets the money. Shot of lamar rushing out of the locker room. Like superman. no time for warm up throws runs out there and throws a touchdown pass to to hollywood. Brad who would drop three passes in that game. We were all over them In that game. And then of course he makes the touchdown catch and so that was spectacular. Ed oh by the way. That wasn't the end right. Baker brings the browns back. They go down the field touchdown and the baltimore comes back. Kicks a field goal fifty yards. Plus you know the second left so that was that was special. You know i don't know could we. Do we do five years of this and not have another game like that. I don't know maybe you get one every year every broadcast group get one of those year but maybe not and so it was really cool to be part of that but we left the stadium buzzing right like we felt really good obviously the game but we felt good about the way we handled it from the truck to the booth everywhere involved. And that's one of those nights but right where you want to go back and have a beer right with the group and celebrate toast. Hey here we are and we couldn't and we did end so that sort of that emptiness off the highest of high but when you first asked that question rich i thought you were going to go in a different direction. We then had a couple of weeks later and there was sixteen. We had buffalo new england and it was alright and the bills destroyed the patriots. And so i think back and that will go down. i don't get involved in any reels. Don't feel like. I'm winning that award anytime soon. By the way it's tough category but if you look at that second half dare. I say that might have been our finest effort of the season. Total blow out mode yet. Total will mode overall on castle. Tell you steve. Right your money you earn your money in a blowout. Not nicklaus game right almost anybody. You should do great game right. It should be able to agree in the game. Takes care of itself. We got lucky in this being. It was the patriots and bella. Check and cam newton. Where going what are they doing. You know it's week sixteen season wrapping up but that was strong heart opinions from greasy. And riddick know about going forward the patriots and and again and that was all. But i think we kept people around because of the strong opinions by my the guys on my right and there was there was plenty to chew on. Hey where the bills going from here. How good is buffalo. Changing of the guard. Afc east and of course you know bill checks legacy all. Tom brady is winning and tampa and those kinds of things but yeah though that was really the high in the low we got really lucky we have like eight eight games in a row that one score and i think that was a new monday night. Football record maybe. Elias keeps that big. We made that up. I really don't know but we had really the only real to blow out. But that buffalo new england at the end of the season could have been tough and i thought our crew really made the most of that. Let's take a moment from our conversation to To talk about something important. And that is It's unbelievable to me. Just what small businesses have had to do to navigate the extraordinary time that we're in. I have such respect for people who are figure out new and creative ways to keep their businesses alive and open when they've never faced these kind of extraordinary circumstances so if you're a business owner you don't need me to tell you that running a business tough but you might be making it harder on yourself..

"No people like us guys aspired up trying to form our own our own juice our energy so you know that sort of some of the things we were dealing with but the only thing that matters is what comes through the speakers and the screen for the audience at home and i'd like to think they would agree with us that you know we started in a good place but that we got stronger as the season went on. Steve how has espn management left it with you and your group regarding next year so i would say they have been incredible with their communication and without getting the name i would say to the very top and down. We have heard from a lot of people i have personally. You know once or twice a week even either just compliments or constructive criticism and really for the most part. It's been extremely positive throughout the entire season. We have just come up superbowl just getting back from you know tampa saint pete and i'd hoped to hear something sooner rather than later but everything. I've heard that this point has been incredibly positive and points in the right direction of the bus. All returning the nfl next season. Which is all. I can really let me ask you directly and this again would opinion in your opinion should groupie asked back for a second year. Absolutely no doubt in my mind. Like i said i thought we started at a good place. Finish strong and now richard. You know with a year under our belts collectively. And i don't want to speak for brian lewis. Lisa's obviously the staple but in some kind of a normal nfl season. I think we'd only be better. I personally how much better i will automatically be game. One of next season strictly based on the experience and everything i learn what i know now and then with some you know some shred of normalcy hopefully entirely out of this pandemic and everybody's happy and safe and healthy and we're back to packing stadiums. I think we got the chance to now stretch out. You know what. I mean i i. I kind of played it safe. I'll be honest with you. I played it safe. You know. I certainly early on it was safe and take a shot here and a chance here but i'm ready to stretch out a little bit more come next season and so it's a matter of going from. Hey you know. We're good to be really good. Can we get two great can. Is that something that can happen. You know come next season. I think i think this group capable of it. And i'm looking forward to being given that opportunity. One of the one of the things that always exists for someone in your position someone and lewis's position in someone in brian's position is that there's always going to be speculation regarding other names. That's not just the case for steve levy. That's the case for jim or al michaels or anybody who's called. Nfl games even for many many many years. How did you feel When you would see and again. I'm not even suggesting that the the subjects did this themselves. But how did you feel when you would see. Chris fowler street or others being discussed for full-time monday night. Football duty probably put myself in the shoes of the guys who did monday night football before me you know. My name was bandied about their six years ago and then three years ago and then two years ago i think that's i think that's part of the business i think is part of the job and i think anybody who's in the in the football broadcasting business would want to be considered for monday night football and so i get it. I understand that and listen. I wasn't comfortable when my name was brought up when other people have the job. But it certainly wasn't coming from me. Like i said i think it's part of the business get to this point in your career develops tough skin. But i was not bothered at all by it chris. Farrell is really good dude even called me up about the whole thing. Chris hey no issue here buddy and nothing to worry about me and we're good. Never been an issue. That's not who i am. That's not what i'm about like. I said i was. I was thrilled to be doing sportscenter. Richard so like i've traveled. I've travelled a long road. I love this job. It is my all time dream job. I think people say that. But i really mean it. I'm still best friends with two buddies from fourth grade. And they would go back and tell you that was. That was always the job. And i got brandon. He's the hockey guy. And i always tell people you know when i came to. Spn espn at hockey and six games a week or whatever it was sometimes doubleheaders saw an opportunity there and opening seat right and there's always been one monday night football seat and so this has always been the dream job and i love the hell out of this season. Such a pro football guy. Too i am. It's at my core. And i'm hoping to be doing it. Not just next to us and quite frankly them lose for twenty years man until until our wants to come over. I have played that scenario like you know. I read everything that everybody else sees an ally the super bowl in la next year. Who knows after that. You don't have all the sides on a whim he's like. Yeah before money for paul back here you go out. You know what am i. What am i going to see the album. Mike grandfathered into the position. I don't look i'm realistic. I get it. I understand how work so i'd like to get back when he doesn't wanna do it. One of the things about the job that you have is so often This is not just external but internally a lot of judgments are made Because the game that you called was so relevant and if you were able to call a relevant or an exciting game well that of keeps. I think in image in someone's mind and the reason i sort of use that as a preamble is you guys may have had the game in the year ravens. Browns december fourteenth forty seven forty two having talked to many broadcasters in the past. Even you know this like when the game is in front of you. And it's a great game you know you almost wanna stay out of the way a little bit but you obviously. Don't you want to be clean. You don't want it to make mistakes and you want viewers to lead that game feeling like they just saw something great. So i'm you know you had a playoff game and i'm sure you you know you had the bills on your bills fan but i have to think that like to be fortunate to get that browns ravens game especially for group in. Its first year had to be phenomenal because really there is an argument to be made that.

"Goal. It the best guy. Arun robin long. Everybody will your good friend to both ryan. I we really appreciate you taking time. Terrific talent and a be safe travels and can't wait for monday night's football game. I appreciate you guys. Have me on a i really miss. You've is missed the whole hockey community. And hopefully we're all back together someplace Come june oh yeah that'd be awesome Before to seeing you and congrats on the gay. It's awesome to turn on the monday night. Football and cnn another grayson gonna go gonna go pack right now for cincinnati and because back our great shoot thank you know the term is used is just one of the great people you know one of the good guys all of that confused all the time but stevie ray is is definitely a man in that category in both those categories and he is humble dude right. I mean anybody watching on youtube or listening to this podcast. i mean. That's who steve levy is. He's he's the guy that you want to hang around with ill before games and after games because you know you're going to have a good time and you're gonna share a bunch of laughs while he's supremely talented to to be able to be the platforms. He's apt to be at espn to be one of their best Sportscenter anchors for twenty years then grow into a hockey announcer an indoor football and to combat the hockey and grow monday night. Football to do all of that is seamlessly as he does yet. He really is. He's a funny humble confident guy and he's just awesome to be around. Because there's always something going on. I mean he took a lot of time today which we were. You know happy to have him on. And this is unreal gay. He's at monday night. Football a great place to be and how about the story of him breaking news to his daughter in his children. I mean i'm glad he kept talking. There are moments when you're having a conversation. United shared personal stuff in travels about our family and our upbringing our parents and all of that emotional people right but he kept talking because i was starting to dwell up. What a fabulous now drags you have a son and a daughter. I've got four boys. So i don't necessarily know the difference of that reaction of a little girl and a little boy but i found it really interesting that his daughters holding on for dear life so happy for one boys worried up being able to watch monday night football and the other ones like you got the gay gate like i just saw that contrast seoul cool. That was a great those great story. I mean he's got lots that he's accomplished in his career in his life and they're still so much more in front of him as you mentioned. He's john voice on monday night football. That's amazing why. Look i know you do this. And i do as well but i i love talking about the noise that he hears on social media i mean of course he would. He's a play by play guy for an institution monday night football but yet he doesn't dwell on a look you know you you're the best analysts in the game but i'm sure that you watch you know maybe games that you've done or you listen to other sports in all the alison how they approach when you stop learning you. Stop getting back so talk about you. Know man who's again at the top of the field here but he's still finds a way to block the noise but also learn in the process because there are quote unquote monday night..

Trent Grisham fans the flames of Dodgers-Padres rivalry after home run

"The dodgers manager Dave Roberts he complained that the padres didn't show Clayton Kershaw proper respect after hitting a big home run Trent Grisham hit the home run and he hit a home run in the sixth inning off Clayton Kershaw to tie the game. And he stared at down a little bit and. Dodgers Dave Roberts was not pleased. He said, I don't mind guys admiring a homer. Certainly, it's a big game big hit. Robert. Said after the game I really liked the player I just felt that to over kind of stay at home plate certainly against a guy like Clayton who's got the respect of everyone in the big leagues and what he's done in this game, I took exception to that because I think there's a certain respect that you give a guy like that if you homer against him. People I think then said, well, wait a minute the dodgers. Made. Member when they hit the home run off Madison Bumgarner didn't they turn it into a t shirt that they kind of. Sat there and. Admired their homerun. Kershaw himself had the right position. He I'm not gonNA worry about their team. Let him do what he wants.

"Head coaches, Ron Rivera WanNa know everyone else Oh, and four we'll talk to the coach. He'll join US coming up next hour. Also Steve Levy called the Monday night game in Denver last night titans eke it out over the broncos. Sixteen fourteen in the steelers beat the giants twenty, six, sixteen, the reaction overreaction will be ben is back and the steelers are going to be formidable I. Think the steelers are going to be formidable because of that defense I don't know to expect from Ben he had three touchdowns last night, they seem to find wide receivers in Pittsburgh. They don't have the skill level that they once had with Antonio Brown and Levy on bell and the giants. It's going to be another long season for the giants unless they show up the offensive line and I know that's that throwaway line. Well, they got to get a better offensive line. You just can't find these guys. It's really hard and I'll go back to a couple years ago when an NFL scouts said, it's really hard to find good offensive Lineman in college football because how they block what their schemes are completely different than what we're. We ask for in the NFL and I think when we've seen a lot of high draft picks and they've been spent on offensive linemen and there is no guarantee because the giants used a top five pick on an offensive lineman. And he looked like he belonged back in college, it takes a while and what happens is you know New England rarely takes an offensive lineman. You know with a high draft pick, they have a system, they develop it and it helps that you got the same quarterback and you had the same coach offensive coordinator and you just kind of plug them in and you find the right people who understand the system that the Patriots have you know Dallas has a great offensive line. Individually, Great Offensive Line New England always had a really good offensive line but nobody who stood out I don't know how many of their lineman ever made a pro bowl and all pro because you can make the all pro just because guys don't WanNa play in the game. How many times the Patriots had a first team all pro offensive lineman in pretty rare. But last night steelers look good giants did not the titans in those that? No that's Titan football not pretty. You don't like your kicker to miss four kicks. Then, connect with the game winner Stephen Gostkowski. But if you're Denver and you're trying to develop something there you got drew lock you got Jerry. Judy. You got some running backs. Miller, but you got to win that game and they had every opportunity to win that game some questionable clock management there..

"Good steak. I don't know Hello Dave is. That's a tricky one Davis love to a lot of course there are sports broadcaster serenity. Scott they love state You guys are always telling me that. I don't give you enough time to do anything so now you have ten minutes to get me. A parade of steak AAC eaters and SP- sports anchors and a lot of war. I want to talk. I WanNa just ask a bunch of sports anchors call Randy Scott and confirming. No I WANNA ask them these questions on the air and go through a factory line of a variety of ESPN people to see if the way they look is indeed something that connects with what we think of how they look. Doc I could see Barry. Melrose walking into a steakhouse smoking a cigar putting out the cigar in the stake leaving it as garnish and then eating the state. Who Do you guys have better than Berman? Do you have better. Do you have others anyone better than Burma. Just people right now. Are there any thin people. That love Steak Davis Davis thickness is part of what it is that makes someone looked like a steak eater. I think. That's why Steve Steve Levy looks like that early Steiner's Great Trey Wingo loves loves a good steak. I call him but he's in Hawaii right swim or sprint from Miami. I got a good one. What does Kevin Gandhi? Think of steak. Um I think he I think he likes it. I think he's just like I can take it or leave it. It's good but it's not something I need to have all right. Well we're going to get a we're GONNA semblance a series of people here to find out. Who are the steak eaters? Who are the people who confirm what we think about what they look like? Because I'm not sure Louis Riddick likes a good steak I feel like Louis Riddick is being careful there and doesn't want to have a lot of red meat. I feel like he's GonNa be a conscious eater and he's doing a lot of plant based stuff. I think enjoys a good wind. I know guy pair with the state. Yeah definitely if you think. Someone's a good steak person. You are gonNA tend to think they're good wine person to know on the other than that can't have one without the will on loves a steak and I love Roy Mike McCarthy of course okay but yes but the clean air outside of wine you don't think a Migraine car seat really so you've got him as being a person that likes steak but but no thank you probably steak and beer right. who also brought he could crush broads? I would think for sure. How did we end up here? Well you took us to tie and then immediately regretted regretted and then you asked me how we ended up here when we're talking you off as an added bonus you went outside of ESPN and just took McCarthy and you were just trying to sabotage everything everything in every turn. How did we get here? The answer always building two minutes. Get Out of you. Oh Wow what do you think. Do you think Rachel Nichols love steak. Yes so does Brian Winters. Yeah no that's Wendy does not prefer yes out of here. I want you out of here shouting. Hear me go blink from a distance..

"The promised old ski what he was doing there. Okay okay okay. I mean it's always a safe bet. Just say they'll finish points out of the final playoff spot and you'll be right. Fourteen in the last fifteen years put the five points could run could run a couple of years the land you guys. You're killing me for the new Rodney. No see it's hard to do a lot of things and that's the thing that's great about. CVC does where a lot of different hats that I know at this show. We always talk about which coach player you love to have dinner with and and hang out with of all the people at ESPN offense. Do not that. You'd even make my top five. Steve Levy is like my number one because one he always picks up the check. He's got great tasting food but also he's got the best stories. ESPN and student. I hear we're we're talking right before. Halftime like what would you love to know that Steve Levy knows about working in Bristol and St. We don't really want to talk about the best that you've worked with because we get it. We know you ever worked with if someone you don't have to say their name or they were just horrible to anchor sportscenter with where you're thinking the entire time. Like how are we gonNA get through this. It wasn't a delegate question that you mean leave me like they're horrible people or good people with no talent on the go with the latter good people not talent but and I would prefer maybe once or twice I have rolled role rolled by is a little bit saying wow. I'm really sitting next to this person you know. And but then and then he fatherly instinct takes over being the old man. I'm like all right. I gotTa keep this thing afloat. Oh you know and And I gotta I gotTa keep this thing going but I took a lot of people who who are just nervous their first timers you know their ESPN rookies. He's and I can see. They're they're nervous but but they've always been good people and there's always been some talent there. You can't walk through those doors in Bristol with no skills and I uh-huh you could say it's Randy Scott would be God's but he's actually not a good person AH employees. They're not that I'm being randy. Scott Steve you're working working. We know you do nice person right. Good Guy yes very guy accent salad. Oh you're very excited Diana's and is very excited you guys won't be calling games together. I'm wondering why will this league work when others have failed. So that's a great question so I honestly let's see I have turned down. XFL interviews since the news broke. That goes I. Don't know anything about what we're GONNA do. Okay I mean. I'm sure they're going to be crazy rules. I just don't know what they are yet. You know so. I'm only comfortable coming on with you guys because you know as little or less than I know so far about the access out so Aw here's why it's GonNa work I gave. You is GonNa work Vince McMahon a Disney be foxy and I think the NFL wants. There's to work. I I really do and really I think this is the last shot guys. I think this is the last best opportunity and I think because ause the NFL wants this to work. And because based on mistakes that have made in the past with other other Spring Football Leagues. I think I think this is the one plus Rossini. Not Me on the sideline I mean how can we do you know. Yeah I actually was asked to do this and I wasn't certain if I wanted to do it. And then actually heard Levy was on the call and I'm Oh my gosh. Sign me up so Stephen. I got to do Monday night. Football this year together still the doubleheader game. I'm not sure if it was the second game. One raiders broncos. Those are Broncos at the raiders. And I tell you I was nervous disaster and when you're nervous you want people next you to be just as nervous too went away because it's like yeah. I'm scared to wasn't even breaking. Let's get this thing going. Let's go watch the game but I heard I heard okay. I'm just telling you what I heard word that people like that telecast that broadcast team more than the than the first game about that leaves. So why couldn't you stay up past nine thirty at night. Forty seven seven years old. I mean I I didn't ask for any of this. I mean lebatardshow Headman Laboratory. That's what it was. I tell you what honestly the If we're being frank I it was a career thrill a career highlight. Am I take away at one. Point was they had the billboards. You know the music the conic connick music and the showing Jackson You know in the King Dome in Seattle and the producer Tim Corrigan's at my ear. And goes you know goes to you. Okay Steve Stock Doc in Greece. He's looking at me and critics look at me and I'm like I got it. I got it I just wanted to hear the music wash over me one time like I really. In that one moment I just wanted got to enjoy it I have young kids. My folks were at the House. I had him wake him up for the opening of the music and all that like the Dad Monday night it was it was an all time. Career Thrill game turned out pretty good and yeah. The feedback was really nice on twitter. And as you know that is never the case now. which made you more nervous? I'm wondering sportscenter or our first Monday. Night Football telecasts That's a great question. I was much more nervous with my first sportscenter much nervous. I wound up staring at the wrong camera. Camera on a two-shot doing my lead in what's called ravage for about thirty seconds. Yeah I was. I was picked up for the Monday night thing but really once once once we started it was honestly. It's much easier than college football. It just is. There's there's half the players and in the NFL. You don't have to look down. Well you know we got a spotter. We got guy next to me. People pointing got one hundred people in the booth and the NFL. You know all the key players you never have to look down and in college you know. It's it's a mishmash smashed. It's much harder. College Football Steve. This has been a delightful. Thank you for joining us. We'll talk to you again. Four or five.

Join US at noon eastern very good friends of Diana generousity so he will join us at noon. Eastern from Barstool and fat Joe is back very third consecutive week. Wow what was his record last week. It's PFC commenter. It is a commentator. Sorry about that. PFC commenter you know why. I'm excited to have St Leon. Because he has the Levy Lounge. It's probably the thing is most is known for well here. Here's what's interesting because Diana wants to talk to him about the XFL. You guys are doing the Games together. Correct yeah well. She came up to about five minutes before we went to air instead. So who do you want to have on the show and I was like well I feel press now. He's a Kennedy. Get a coach. Like Sean Payton. Maybe get bill belichick. I'm like Stu I I can't do this in five minutes. But maybe Steve Levy will come on. He's in great yes. That's a huge guests for us. So I'm so thank you guys want. Steve is very happy to be on this. Well we're excited by the way. Feel free if you want before one o'clock ought to try and get Sean Payton Honor Bell Gone. We'll take them. I mean feel free. We have two one o'clock. I probably Shoulda told you this yesterday. Yeah I'm actually shocked after working with you a few times. If you haven't taken my phone I just started reaching out to people you probably have. You probably had I face scan. Doesn't work for them every time. But we're excited for Steve Levy. So you talk ex XFL Chris has questioned about the Levy Lounge. And Roy wants to talk hockey so a couple of mentions dog. It's talk about that great leaves. I have a house that are moving into and I get my own little man cave and I would like to. I would like to design it as I wanted to be the Levy Lounge. That's what I want it to be so I need tips on. How designed Barry Melrose to stop by? Then you'll be all set. You should just put up posters of Steve Levy in it and call it the Levy Lounge. Don't threaten me. That's what you should do that. But I WANNA start here. I never thought I would start a show with two thousand nineteen with this topic. Newt Rochdi there is a read coming up a sportscenter coming up. Diana will be handling the sports centers today and she asked me right before we went on air How do you pronounce this? And who is this person and that person is newt rocketing now I was mocking a relentlessly. How old are you? I'm sorry do you not want to give your age on the. I think we've discussed this before. Twenty six okay. So you're twenty six and I said. Are you going to be embarrassed. We discussed this on air. And you said should I know you're a young. I kind of understand although he is considered maybe to be the greatest football coach of the history of football and you cover football okay boomer. But let's say he was borne eight thousand eight hundred eighty eight. You're you're right. Yes he was born just a couple of years before Greg Cody. But here's the thing I thought you were allowed but I just assumed everyone knew rock me was until I went into the other room and I said to Billy Hey Diana does not know who rock knees. Billy said neither do I. What's voted for him once? No He's not a politician. He's win one for the Gipper did did you see the gipper. Look here's what I know. Who's the Gipper Word Association? Gipper Rodney. I just saw the word rock in it so I immediately went to. WWE and it was like maybe he was a wrestler. So we're we're doing these great podcasts on. ESPN and that's the reader about to do. That's what I thought it was and so I mean K N ut that's not an easy pronunciation well then they started doing this thing. I can't believe nobody knows who this guy is is. He's a musician from like the eighties. One Song who is this Guy I feel bad though. 'cause now my credibility is apparently swirling the toilet but listen. You can't be the greatest coach of all time and coach in the eighteen hundreds. I'm sorry the game has changed drastically since the eighty hold on a second so he was the head coach at Notre Dame from nineteen eighteen thousand nine hundred thirty. I understand what you're saying. Okay but he didn't even pass the ball back and billy. His record was one. Oh five and twelve well they have to other teams to play against one. Oh five in twelve. Here's who the GIPPER is. The gipper is George GIPP. He was the quarterback and while he played several positions but he selected as team captain and he died from pneumonia and in a big raw raw speech. New Rock knee said win one for the GIPPER. Mick Stephen's Evens one fifty four and twenty one right and that's better is it. Yeah and we know who that is one of five and twelve. I mean I billy he is. I'm telling you he is regarded as in fact. I'm reading right off his WIKIPEDIA. Okay without question America American. Football's most renowned in coach Knute rockne Now have some question. The question is I. I'll put it on the poll at lebatardshow twitter. Do you know who knew rockne is. How many rings exactly exactly one one? He didn't even win a superbowl. Get outta here. I appreciate the support shipping container. It says one title I I feel like he's one more I do. I mean I'll have to research it but I I cannot believe we started with Knute rockne a upgrade ring against six other teams. One Ring. Yes it's he's thinks he's on. The ball was new rodney overrated array doesn't stack up against Satan. You can and that was just as Alabama record but still I mean this guy's a better career just a one school than rock knee. Did you hear that he's not even counting the national championship at Lsu. Okay okay. Put that on the poll as well at Lebatardshow Twitter Rodney or Sabin making enough about having the two greatest coaches of all time. I can't wait for that. Hbo Thing Wearing Christmas sweaters. And they're just talking about the game in life are the greatest coaches of all time without question David in order you know. Wait for this game I imagine stabile. CHECK DRINK eggnog. Yeah you guys out of a thermal yes yes ask Thermos get crazy. You know. It's it it everyone says Bella check a little bit right. I mean I cover football so yeah but have you ever seen like the other side of Bill Belichick. That's that everyone talks about that. We never get to see the grand sense of humor that everyone talks about. It's not that great in you trying to get him on your bill Yeah I mean he's he's a dry sense of humor if you've spent any time around anyone that was part of the New England way. We'll call it. Whether it's coaches are player they all have a very similar sense of humor. It's dry. They're very good at the pausing When you talk to bill he he it? Does this pregnant pause. Sometimes it can get a little awkward where you you think the conversations over but you asked him a question you just kinda standing there thinking. I mean. He's a patient man. He's calculated. He's very comfortable with silence. Do you think Nick Sabin. Roast chestnuts on an open fire. Yes please ask. Who's the coach you guys most want to go to a roller coaster theme park with? He'd be pretty good but maybe read need to cool for one leach. You WanNa go with someone who's going to embrace it have fun upbeat. Mike Lee Pretty much going to be the answer for every specifically said roller coaster. Here though. Because we've done Disney before we've done Disney parks different. What's interesting is I went to the pro bowl last year and one of the players gave me a pass to go to universal studios radios? And what they do is they shut it down just for. NFL players what you cannot get in there unless your family or good friends. So I mean this was like a coveted pass. I got a Oh man so I hopped on a roller coaster In about thirty minutes before I had eaten something and it wasn't sitting. Well my stomach at all and I one of sitting on the same roller coaster with the entire titans offensive line to rain. Rockets coke the Hulk Gotovina's shoots you out of the I think the farm it's going to work. I'm never works thinking walking up towards the ride. This this is probably a good idea. I don't feel great but I didn't WanNa look like a wimp with these guys stomach are I'm going to go on the go on. Go on it I I hill that we go up. I threw up all over. These ride. Taylor's awol to own up over Taylor. Lewan yes wow. That's a revelation picture from that. I would love to see but I have to tell you. It is so awkard. I even covered n Tennessee Games this year. And I don't want to because I don't WanNa see these guys knowing. The last time they saw me I had puke all over me and on them and and they're beautiful wise. There's like who is this check. Why she with us? Are we going to get sick. I wound up getting food poisoning. I had food poisoning and I WANNA puke all over a universal studios. It was great. What you're different? I go new Disney park. You didn't buy the picture you have to buy the picture after you throw a ball over the titans. That's probably a missed opportunity. I honestly honestly just I needed to just get home just because I felt gross but I had thrown right. That's like a bad. You get aware that you're going to buy the picture you gotTA wearing. It actually definitely probably never will do an interview with me again after that experience. What's your favorite coaster? 'cause mine is doing dragons. I like incredible hulk but yeah dragons is Deng. He's not the same roller coaster named differently. or it's totally done. It's not the doing dragons with wow. I'll say EH. I have no idea what it is now but I know it's different. What was the other one you were talking about the ride rocket select I always pick sabotage by BC? Boys they get right to the newsroom. Alan your head your head rocks around too much but you get the music I like. I like the one with Aerosmith at. That's a good one. Yes but billy that one kind of just goes up it goes up slowly but then it gets right to write rocket yes woah. Does that thing. Where you're like all the way laying all the way back as you're going up and you feel like you're gonNA fall out of the top of the thing but you're not going to? The top of the mummies really underrated by the way in terms of roller coasters in the unit is soul universe. It is good but they don't have like all the pomp and circumstance of the Aerosmith Rock and roller coaster which is kind of weird because they should update it because Aerosmith is twenty years younger. No but they're in the they're during the perfect and it's a joke. Can you give my black cameras in that. Yes Ken Marino enjoy any. How do they get those guys every day? It make it a stretch. Betting in mega super strict spent a lot of time with these parks. Going this weekend. Worse again why did they share that. The Florida thing isn't it. I mean there are three hours from our house. His knee employees. It's four hours from their house and it's about twenty minutes from my house it all I had was action park. That's that's all you need to be honest with you Stugatz here right now. One in four batteries is about to fail. That means at quarter of you are in.

"Hey, Harper made a recital that kind of stuff Holly, put my kids stuff after crazy. You are protective of that's so you think I'm missing out on. I think I got a ninety. Yeah. Would my hand will be for that bag leaves? You don't think that's taken? I don't think so weight loss one because you've had outgrow we've had over men on the podcast. You know? I love Keith. Okay. Give me a case story. Whenever store you got and not the bulging disks story. Well, I mean, that's that's the one. He's the one who was sitting next to me, you know. So I'll never forget that. He is. He is the genius of geniuses us. You know, one of the smartest guys on the planet. You know, when you when I came here, it was all about Keith, Dan, and you try to figure out okay? Which lane are you going to go into right? We can you get close to either one, but probably not. But so I went towards Dan goes, at least I had a shot. I had no chance of being Keith. And quite frankly, I could be Dan either. But at least. That was my kief had the show written in the first half hour. Mike mcquaid was their producer tall stores. I mean, I the right one finger typers volts. Yes. AO just hammers it out. But it's every story. It's throwaway lead ins are so well written and pronounced and produced and his pieces of so much better. That's the hard part is sitting next to him, by the way, you know, because you sitting next to him on the show everything you do in comparison looks a little less little week right than what the guy sitting next to you is done. But but there's an element to you can't out Kaethe Keith you can't do Cao's doing. So you just do. And I'll tell you what he's got a rap at a rap if you will try, and he's always been great to me two guys. I'll give you Mike francesa. Yeah. And keep open. Okay. Guys who have had reputations in the industry for being let's say hard on others hard on people. Yeah. Two guys have been great to me. You'll both. You'll never know when you say one bad word about francesa or KO. Francesa back in the day. When when I was walkout always champion in my my TV work. And again, he was tough on a lot of people made a lot of people lives miserable and parallel to this day. Still does apparently cannot confirm, but he was he was always great to meet and co two from the second. I walked in the building that could not have been kinder warmer, offering advice still sent me a text still occasional text right after I do a show you filled in for radios. Do I mean that's pressure when you filled on his TV show. It was the same thing. You can't do what Keith does. But it's almost it comes into a little bit. I've watched him for somebody who's bars so much the run on sentences that delivery language, so sophisticated he gets into a little bit. And you you can't mimic him. You just be you. But it's hard not to because it's it's it's a big decision. Wouldn't want to debate him on any issue at noon on any issue? I wouldn't say one of the great hall of fame debates would have been 'cause I worked at Curt Schilling a lot can get schilling and Overman together that would be that's pay per view about tiger Phil thing. No punches pulled the great. Steve Levy, thank leaves CFL. Hollywood careers spanning techy case and the tales of Tinseltown are told here. Inside on lions, Dan with Ben Lyon..

"Getting together hot and heavy breaking off and trying to get back involved, and that sort of lived that life. It's not going so good. Now, granted happy father. You're living the life right now. So this is going to get edited all things whole thing. Every no latte last. It's been great. I don't think it's the place to get out. What about the origin of the catchphrase of its ferrets got right? And then it's a home run at dead center. That's really just the mocking of traditional radio sportscasters, you know, that kind of thing right, which Kenny Mayne does really on a nightly basis with. I mean, he's satirizing when a sportscaster should be every night. In fact, we're sitting next to him, and he's investors making fun of us to our faces. Every sense that comes out of his mouth. Right. I only do it one time. You know, if it's fair, it's gone. Last point. I always admired your humility. I told you one time I said leaves you're on the best anchors here, and you always have been and he said that and I appreciate it. Honestly, I'm not view myself as a second banana. I said, what do you mean you go? I'm the guy with Stu, I'm the guy with van pelt. I'm the guy with Keith. And I said that's not true. It's just as critical to be the straight. Man, you go. I appreciate you saying that. But I've never viewed myself that way, and I'm telling you, man, you're one of the upper echelon guys here. I hope you're sick. I appreciate that. The great Steve Levy follow him on Twitter. Steve Levy, the only place, but your Twitter hill is you are you an Instagram. You actually, though, that's the next level for you. What does the big deal if pictures, right? Yeah. At Twitter started to go down tweet pick. Pictures though. So what what is different Twitter's good just for writing? Instagram's where it's at the pictures. You do stories you're on the road, so much shake Reese you and the kids are out..

"Tune app maple leaves. Not standard just to cheap. He's the to do. You have a wreck it. Ralph of you for us rookie. I can give you one. Yeah. It was a a just preface don't want to be too much of a hot air bag this week. We'll give you thirty six. I'm giving it three and a half. It's phenomenal rate job of carrying over. What the first record Ralph did was six years ago. I think it came out. It's very much for my generation. It's very much for late term millennials earn a lot of millennials. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of internet jokes. A lot of really underlying a lot of subtle humor with that. But it's going to it's going to sit well with kids because it's just loud and bombastic and fund and jovial, and it doesn't really have a traditional antagonists in the movie, it's very much a character piece on Ralph and vanilla p and their relationship now that vanilla peas game has been broken. And so they're trying to go to the internet to find a piece to fix it. Because the guy that runs the K doesn't wanna pay the amount of money for it. So they go to the arcade or go to the internet, which they're not supposed to go to because if they die in the internet their code is erasing. They're gone forever. And they're trying to figure out a way to make money to buy the peace through EBay, and it kinda just goes from there. Runs an hour forty five. So a perfect length. It's so well paced it's just it's a knockout non Pixar Disney movie. And I think that if you if you want to take your kids to see they're going to enjoy it. If you just want to go see it for the for the humor and the little nostalgia for the nineties and the internet and the jokes. I'd say go see it to Sarah Silverman, and John C Reilly both just give it their all for voice acting. And it's it's the best animated film of the year. I was working. My brother took my boys to go see it. And that's why I thought Africa. Maybe I'll just go on my own. I do. So I took my kids kids again like did that much, but I would recommend because we saw a an afternoon showing of it. Right. The Wednesday before thanksgiving figured, okay? It's not gonna be. Still in session three show heads were still in there. But it wasn't that bad. They were invested. They weren't being loud. And even one kid made a pretty good joke. After the the the big Disney song will call it. I'm not going to reveal too much about it. But the big Disney song that has a quite quite a heavy twist to it one kid screamed onto theater that was a good song. And we just erupted in. He he's not wrong. It wasn't good song. Incredible to the favorite right now to an animated film. Do you think that record off to his better than that film? Ooh. I think they're neck and neck. I think those are the two that you're going to be like that. Like, if you're putting a bedding line on gold derby right now, if I'm sitting at their incredible to might be at like, it is the heavy favorite right now. But not by I would say they're like. One in three and one in four chances to get it like they're that close. Wow. All right record, Ralph Ralph breaks, the internet check it out. Now, it's time for my man. Steve Levy when tracking the domestic dust bunny. You come to find them hiding under wardrobes next to love songs. Don't move to sudden scarring off what's utterly fascinating about the dust bunny. Is that ov- o- not actually essential creatures when they have not only saves people money, but also has a ninety seven percents customer satisfaction rating this obvious to them you should switch because Yesler. "Maybe I'm hurting it because the book is clearly better than the movie or the fact that just feels like at times like a hallmark hall of fame movie. We'll movie of the week here. It's har- stands rights harsh. But for the performances. Loan specially shallow may I recommend seeing. Maybe I just been more invested because I read the book mixed reviews, rotten tomatoes. It's like a sixty seven percent is the book in chronological order. Good question. I believe so. Yeah. So you're blaming the director. Yeah. I'm putting the director because the source material is excellent the actors are really good on the director. I would've I would've gone away. It's gone. Also, isn't Beale street in Memphis. Yes. So Baldwin the opening credits explained that Beale street is where every black person feels that they're from because that there's always lineage from there, and we're all from the, south, etc. But the title of book is if Beale street could talk, but Bielsa is Representative of all streets in the city. So the book is actually set in Harlem the movie set in Harlem, but yes, the title is appeals. She because you're thinking of Beale street, blues and barbecue. Excellent work. I dance dancing one more for you. Then we're gonna get Steve Levy in here, a private war stars Rosalind pike, Dan, and I actually love during gone Roach who sought he's Raza M into Rosamund. I always thought it was Rosamund. And then Ben lines had the director of the movie Matthew Heineman on and he kept saying Rosalyn so hat tip to bed lines. We're going to go with Rosalind pike who's in Ganga masonry, Stanford loved it. And this is a real story. It's based on the story of Marie Colvin. Who is a crusading war journalist who as her ex husband perfectly describes her. You're like a moth attracted to a flame wherever the dangerous. That's where you wanna go. And it's really a visual depiction of what her life is. Which is you're literally going into war zones and trying to tell stories about it and make people care, and is there enter says to at one point because the whole stories about this. It's a journalist who wants to do this desires to do this in yet suffers incredibly and has nightmares and his scarred. By the images of babies being killed in Syria, and you know, unimagined Tross ities influenza. And in Afghanistan. And so, you know, any anybody who feels compelled to do some work, but at the same time despises that. They do it and agonizes over it, and is depressed about it, and suffers terribly and she's chain smoking, and she's drinking and as you'll see from the trailers wearing an eye patch for early in the most she loses her left eye. But as their editor says, you're the one that covers these stories so we don't have to. And she says one of the greatest challenges is that how do you make people care about this people worried about their own lives and their own issues? How do use award journalists made people in America care what what's happening in Syria. And she was and that's my job. That's my job is to go there, and to interview people and define stores and human interest stories and tell them all about it. So her performances. Excellent. I'd only she'll get nod for best actress it's too crowded a category. But she's excellent. The director Matthew Heineman who checkout. Ben lyons. His lines Dan podcast, which is on podcast one Matthews. A really smart guy. I like the way he directed..
