"Not far from one America's most vibrancy D's. Homestead Miami speedway is the home of NASCAR championship. Weekend champs will be crowned across the sports top three divisions. Before the sports best go to work on the track a lighthearted moments from today's media day. There's been a lot of speculation this week that this is the best championship for group of drivers that we've had since the program started five years ago. I'd like to know what you guys think about the competition, you're up against the same foreign ization that were here last year. Yeah. I mean, it just depends on whether Bradsher Joe, you're better drivers. I'm not sure. They both run into you. Does like even mouth shut on this. Let us driving on Sunday about that. I'll look into NASCAR America. Everybody presented by Mobil. One tear lament alongside Parker clicker men, and we are waiting for the next two hours full coverage from Miami. And after that, we're going to cap things off of this special one hour edition of the deal junior. Download as well Kyle petty joins us from NBC Charlotte at homestead Miami speedway. Are trio of booth analyst Steve Letard, Jeff Burton and Dale Earnhardt, jR, will be with us from atop the peacock pit box. We're going to hear from them shortly. But let's start forty one miles from the race track in Miami Beach where championship media day wrapped up just a short time ago. Let's start with reporters for an overview beginning with Brentwood and Kelly status. Thanks caroline. You know, the only thing we're missing here at the Miami edition hotel is is you honestly, it's a great day to beautiful place. I love immediately like this. When we get to see these drivers, relax. It's been a lot of time together this week, but they're all excited to me that really build everything up for Sunday to perfect way. Well, it's been a really busy week farm. They've made a lot of appearances including the tonight show, Jimmy Fallon. They were on the today show today, and then we had them at a press conference that you and I just host it. And I just love how we get all four of them together kind of head to head to kind of start taking some jabs at each other. But really just building excitement for the weekend. I think the fun thing you get to see the media ask questions, and they're trying to sort of get these guys to talk a little bit. Maybe a little trash talk. But they're also composers definitely a great feeling of sort of a mutual admiration society. All these drivers know how hard the teams and the team members have worked certainly a lot of people are thinking about, you know, the seventy eight team can they really get it together. And have that perfect way to end the year. And they might right? I think that's what makes it so special. Well, and the numbers that these are put up are certainly impressive. So they've all been here done that this is going to be a great race on Sunday. And it's such a big event that we had to put all hands on deck. So we brought out the rest of the crew Marty Schneider. I'll throw it over to you. Kelly did a fantastic job hosting. I thought they did a fine job guys obviously mardi cider debut Nate Ryan joining here. And so I want to get your overall impressions of the press conference..

"What, they expect Jonathan. You've got to be there until he chooses to, not drive anymore After a powerplay like Martin Rule out as they go after new up and coming young driver in the years to come I just don't think that I still think they're kinda at the ashes fan down if you could imagine the terror figure out what's wrong with your Chevrolet Where do you think we could see true if he does not resign with furniture row racing I think we need to think that Toyota is going to allow. That guy outside of the total to camp or does that mean that Either bought a, steam relatively shuttle drivers around There's other teams looking for some joke yet I really think Here the next ten? Week between driver All right Steve Letard, I'm concerned. About the forty eight car Jimmy Johnson he's. Not gotten into victory lane this. Year that is not what we expected and we've seen from Jimmy Johns throughout his professional career Yeah it's surprising, I think. This is a guy and we have a. List of drivers have not won. This year Denny Hamlin comes to by Jimmy Johnson's name I mean he is Dominate every category when it comes to accurate drivers dominates a lot of categories comes even every. Driver, in the, series so Hall of, Famer the question is why and I wish I it's definitely been down here for his force but at the last bunker so chase Elliott has made, a recovery not just waiting running at top five leading laps winning the forty eight of Jimmy Johnson's Filkins step behind teammate playoff the coming weeks until the playoffs start checking out of more rabbits up their. Sleeve Jacket out Stevie and the target part. Of NASCAR. NBC's coverage here we got a huge race coming up. This weekend it is the southern. Five hundred and when you talk southern, five hundred it's old school lot of paint schemes going back to what they used to be. Right now the favorite one I've seen so far is. Brad Keselowski Miller like genuine draft got the old number two or rusty Wallace back day in the nineteen ninety companies Do we I love the sponsors that were back then and are still in the sport now More special to. Me You mentioned that author scheme of. The day is cool I think that the twentieth scheme Spin off of you Keystone the forty three that all from the original scheme that that that Richard petty trophy riverside It's just so many rate looking, down here Daytona advance for at that that basically is the fabric of NASCAR that garlic Yeah and of course we can't forget the twenty four Jeff Gordon's Rainbow Warrior it good. Stuff. There hey, Stevie. I appreciate it let's chat down the road okay my friend Absolutely. Thanks, for. Having me make. Sure you turn in NBC. And. This weekend The Lady in black takes center stage for this week in southern five hundred foot pre post game, rates and also the races well is bringing grant Mitch, NBC Colorado, Springs Colorado versus Colorado state tonight in, Denver Colorado state got rolled up in week one by. "You know, the whole, Joe Gibbs thing where the the kid gets in the car or the Kendrick thing could gets in the car. You know, where is going to, you know, it's already been determined the chase, Elliott. When he got into the expanded gar was going to end up being in the Cup series, right? And it's just so hard for guys to work their way up guys who didn't have that Neil silver spoon handed them when they got into the truck or the gun that expanded the car for the first some. And that's where Brett Moffitt is. Because, like you said, he went through that whole thing with Mike Waltrip bracing and he wasn't instantly a hit, and then everybody kind of forgot about him. And then now he's racing really, really well. And I don't know. I don't who what is the team that gives them a chance? I mean, why wouldn't say conceal? We're going to talk. Finessing little bit Odin get Asiya Richard petty or someone like that, who could use a little bit of a shot in the arm. Why don't one of those teams try and pick him up at where even a front row try and pick him up a front row. I mean, hell LeVine, family racing now, I mean, you could pick your many hell you know what? You know what I would love to see right now. Him Brett, Moffitt going that number one car now and for for for for junior motorsports, xfinity series. You wanna talk about a guy, not not Jamie MAC, although that would be a huge coup. I forgot them or ones for sale. Apparently exactly. You put them up an xfinity in good material, see what develops and see what people missed out on, and then he could be much right his own ticket to where everyone's to go. And I mean that union junior motorsports ride is pretty damn. Sweet. 'cause you're getting top of the line stuff top line sponsors, you know, you're gonna race what week in week out. And so, I mean, you have to wonder if that's the next step for now, and they'll junior actually is kind of an exception to that rule that are just said, he's he's seems to be willing to take chances on people who need the second chance from time to time. Elliott. Slather prime example just an ally who won the race at middle high. Oh, Michael and net kind of fallen off a little bit. But I mean, I mean, yeah. I mean, I think junior could be the guy to see this, the talent in this kid and be like, hey, all right. Now, let's got a ride open. Let's do this because because the only other option is, yeah, Brent mouth, it gets exhilarated the Cup series again, and then he doesn't win second race. And then he's, he's done. He's back to Greg Olding it exactly paying for his own right antastic second point of contention. I mentioned middle high. Oh yes, there's xfinity rates. They're very good race just now garlic. I said, one. I think he'd beat what was it. The Austin syndrich. It's right. I can look it up though. Yeah, I think he but Allston syndrich or whoever was finished. Second was her highest finishing thing. They're only nineteen. So there's that first off middle high, very narrow. Yes, very narrow. It really is shit picking up for any kind of racing that is a really narrow track. Understand buddy passes on it. Yeah. Secondly, did you hear about the gimmick? NASCAR? Did this weekend. I did not please. And it is awesome syndrich and then Daniel hammer governor's, third. Okay. So in their infinite wisdom NBC decided are we're gonna. We're gonna put a different look in the booth. Dave burn Dale Jarrett, two man booth. Okay, good day burned did fantastic. Jarrett did fantastic. Yeah years where they screwed up Ohno. Hey, how about you watch the Cup crew? Watch the finish the race. What? How, how did I know about this can watch it. I mean, I couldn't watch it. I was on a plane, but how could I not have seen. Trust me, you wouldn't wanna see it would infuriate you. Watch watch NASCAR. So what are the stricken beer and sitting around on the council was the Cup crew guy. So as Dale Jr. Jeff, Burton, Rick Arlen Krista, Kyle petty, Steve Letard all in the green room at Michigan. Watching these finish the race on Twitter while people watch them watch NASCAR. I watched five minutes of this nary never wants to. They pay attention to the race..

"Lord, twenty percent twenty percent of the cars in the field right now have the displacement of the motor painted on other side of the hood. Let's still it's leave it there. Just leave it at that number and move on done. No people are going to do that because they forgot. There's a thing they have to do a gimmick. How could how can Stewart Haas not get sharpie. One race, just one race to just get him because Carl. It be because gene Haas's egomaniac the car looks awesome. Yeah. No, it looks past. I would've rather the blue one bloom black that they had. But what I asked bloom, black was really good to look at that scheme. It looks more yells rubbermaid more than sharpie. Yeah. No, you're right about that. They use that for the rubbermaid. Absolutely. Yup. No, the two best ones for me right now are the Lugano with the c- park. Right. And then gotta give tons of to the skittles too. You know, getting one looks great again, how to earn your oven in there to help that out how friend of the show or any Irvine, by the way on the show all long time ago, I thought it was after you would come on the show. I really don't. David p like years. Probably the data p like we had one, the show was pretty early on the show those a long, long, long time ago. All right. So here we are at Watkins Glen now. So NBC is going to do the thing the broadcasting, like they did last year where I guess they space the broadcasters around the track and they try and do it like imperious style. I don't know about that. Then the thing I don't know about it is why like how is that in that loan? Just like the thing last week or two weeks ago, rather putting Rick Elon in Rhode. I liked it better that way personally, but I don't see how that's going to get people to watch or Mike tirico. If you had to Rico on all season, long dad loan might be enough to get people to watch, but only having him on for one race. How's it going to get people to watch? I mean, you know, nobody's gonna be like, oh, well, it wasn't going to watch this one. NASCAR has been. I'm going to watch one NASCAR is because of the previous show host, you know, I get what they're trying to do. They're trying to mix it up, but it just don't get how that's going to get more people to watch every single week if you're going to do something like this, just simulcast the Marin. Yeah, like I'm a cast that because they do it much better. Yeah, they do it really well, so don't don't don't. You're screwed up in a big way and it's not gonna be great. He said. His Puram. Right? So be oh, it's Marin. Okay. Yeah, Morenz doing it this week and then PRN's back at Bristol. Oh, but and then Indianapolis Motor Speedway radio for Indianapolis, they've got their own. Yeah. So I mean, I mean, let's just let the guys like, don't you have to tell you guys, but you could throw Dale junior and the Marin booth. Sure. They won't mind the the idea. The exposure. Yeah, I just, you know, I guess in a way it'll be different. So that's cool. But I just don't see how that's going to move the needle permanently. It's not enough when you when you only have one guy who doesn't have to do play by play, you're gonna have like. Actually, I know, right? Like. And then they're going to leave Rick Allen by himself somewhere. Because what? How's it going to analyze what's going on? Well, maybe it'll be Rick Allen and Jeff Burton up in the booth. And then like turn turn three or the or the school bus turn. It's going to be Steve Letard uncomfortably close with Dell junior than to be put a little box there. They don't need to put the box little box cameras. It'd be great. Do you is Parker gonna be involved in this. Piest I'm shy hope to know he's racing, no is going to be in the ninety six this weekend. Damn. I didn't realize that. So probably he'll be the correspondent in the car probably will be because he was really good last year because they put him on one of the stands last year..

A preview of this weekend's race with Jimmy Johnson, Eric Merola others, and will also visit with the executive director of the NASCAR hall of fame and senior motor racing network. Pit reporter Winston Kelly earlier today we found out that we lost Tom Higgins a legendary journalist in this sport. One of the greatest storytellers this sport has. Are known Tom passed away earlier today, and Winston will join us talk about Tom's legacy, but I call Ricky joins us with the latest in NASCAR news, Kyle, what he have, Mike. It was an eventful weekend at Pocono, raceway for Bubba Wallace a weekend that will be remembered by his crash in turn one, but just twenty four hours. Prior to that, he signed a multi year contract to remain with Richard petty motorsports, and it continued driving the team's number forty, three car in nascar's premier series. Two pretty nice. Definitely a stress reliever knowing that we have a certain future Eto. So it's been an incredible opportunity for us. I don't think you know, coming into the season, we didn't know what to expect. We had our expectations, but it's it's kind of we've kind of underperformed and we, we both see that from both ends for my end and from the team in butt heads are all in the basket trying to come up with ways, it'd be better in produce better results. His best run with the team thus far is a second place at this year's Daytona five hundred. Junior motor sports has made a change to their coochie lineup for one of their NASCAR xfinity series teams following the series last race at the speedway on Saturday, former LeVine, family racing crew, chief Travis MAC is now the new crew chief for Michael Annett. MAC is replacing Jason Stockard in that role Stockard however, will remain with the organization. And we end on a sad note as longtime NASCAR journalist, Tom Higgins has.
