"Show. Don't forget tomorrow. Steve Gregory, with his big special titled two decades later, about 9 11 2. Airings tomorrow. 3 to 5 and 8 to 10. 20 years. 20 years after 9 11. Un believable. I saw an interview yesterday with the two pilots of F 16 fighters that had to go up and paste the flight 93, which was originally Yeah, not the Pentagon. But there, but they were. They weren't sure where they went down in Pennsylvania, and they were saying that that when things started going down, they realized what was going on. And there was more planes out there. They sent these F sixteen's out there really fast and they were beside this plane. And at one point I was talking to Steve Gregor about this, he says, because he was listening to all the air trap. Thick. Dialogue that have been taking place at one point they had gotten permission to take the plane out before it was going to keep going, But they don't have any button. I am. Oh, that's what they were saying is these two plight was it was a woman and a man in two separate planes, and they both said Yes. We went up so fast to get in the air that we didn't have any missiles and And air traffic, I guess might not have realized that, but they said they were absolutely getting ready to take out the plane. Kamikaze style, like the one guy in the one place is going to take out the cockpit, and she was going to take out the tail of the plane just crashed their planes and and, yes, sacrifice themselves. That's amazing. That's really amazing. I've never heard that. Yeah, I've never heard that either. That's wild. I mean, that there was so many stories that came out so quickly that you couldn't you couldn't hear all of them. That's wild man. How about, you know doing that and knowing That not only you're going to kill yourself, but you're gonna kill everybody on that plane and everybody that that plane lands on you. Imagine the weight on your shoulders in that home, man. That is unbelievable. Anyway, Tomorrow is the big special 3 to 58 to 10 P.m. will be something to listen to it tomorrow with Steve rhetoric. By Taco Bell is in the news. They were moving one of their or one of the locations, one of their first locations down in Laguna. I believe, um, is not to be a taco bell anymore. It will still be a A taco stand. It just won't be Taco Bell and Taco Bell wants the sauce packs back, you know, And it's not your fault that you have a ton of them when you ask for, you know, hot sauce. They give you 90. I don't. I don't know why they keep doing that, right? I They always give you way too many. I have seen more and more signs like in the drive through that says, Oh, oh, two packets or whatever each unless you want more, But you know if you don't say anything, you're getting too or something like that. But you don't have also noticed about the sauce like Arby's sauce or Taco Bell sauce or even Del Taco. It's only good on there. I tacos. You can't transfer to another fast food place You put army sauce is like a dream on a roast beef sandwich. Marv ease. It is a nightmare on everything else. It just tastes horrible and everything so good on robbery. Just got horse horse and RB sauce, Man. I mix those two up and it is the I don't go with the horsey sauce next year. Try one time. I was never able to get over that name. Right, Coursey pass. But that but band that that putting that barbecue sauce that RB sauce on roast beef sandwich It's just It's like icing closer to me. I had one a few years ago, and it closed down about five exactly right. I had another item one in North Hollywood it open and I used to go to all the time in a closed within a year. I think that same one is still open. Not what near Santa Monica in the in the in the one. Oh one. Yeah, it's on sunset. Yes, that's a crazy drive through, though. Yeah, here, hairpin turn in. There it is. I don't know. Aside from that one. How many more there are out there is one out in like a planner. Cucamonga. Yeah, There's one out on Spaulding near the, uh, 1 18. But there's nothing in between. But you know what? What's weird up in Oregon and I just drove back from Portland. Like every every off ramp. There's an Arby's really every city has an Arby's Every truck stop has an Arby's, but for some reason they don't have enough of them down here. You know when, when Sydney was younger, I used to just I take it all the places that I like and go and she was always like willing to try and she's got a pretty good appetite for doing that. And I when I got when it got to the point, I was like, Oh, yeah, I got to do. Arby's man. Horse and RV sauce will put that on the roast beef, and that was one of the few things that she was like. Yeah, I don't know about that. It's like I don't know what it is you and I love it, man. But Jen doesn't care for it either. It's it's a particular taste. But, man, I'm all about it. My wife and daughter, I can't eat it in the car. I have to get out of the car to eat it because of the smell. They can't even smell it. I always get two of the big the giant ones. Those are good. Yeah, the meat and the bun And then the sauces. I don't get any of the other crap on it. No barbecue. You don't get the French dip. No, I get the straight up. I get the straight up Giant RB right And then sink your teeth into a big stack of beef is so great. I got to take it apart and put it back together. Because otherwise that the roast beef kind of sticks together becomes a little bit more solid. I like to have a separation of a little more airy. Yeah, totally understand. Every time man and I was by 21 to save for later because I can't get through more than one because they're so big. They're the best. They're absolutely the best. And but but that RBS is a It's a fighter flight man. Either you love it, or you can't standards and I absolutely love it. I love Arby's, uh and I have since I was a kid, but I remember one of the most depressing things nights in my life. I'm up in Oregon. I've just been fired from Kayla Sex the radio station because they flipped formats. And.

Crows for? 9 11. I was working here in the building. Well, not in this building, but and, uh, Ardmore. Is that right? Yeah, I was. I was doing some production for Kayla. See back in the day when I was a p D and had the TV on when the first plane hit and then watched it, the other play the second plane hit and we change the radio station to simulcast KF five for the rest of the day. On all the stations on that station, But yeah, all the stations, but yeah, on all was there a vision that I was working on? It was like half music half talk. We completely got rid of music. The second that second plane hit. I mean, half music half talk. You played a half a song and gave a half a story. No, I think it was 6266 P to six. A. It was music. Oh, I think I said, or 10 to 10. I think it was 10 to 10 10 P to 10. A. It was music man that would be really irritating for the audience who played half a song and then gave a half a story until that one, right? Um, I Russia how old were you? You were like 12. No, that was no, I wasn't. Where were you When it happened? I was just waking up to go to work. Is that right? Yep. Misty? Do you remember it? All the teachers were pretty crazy during the day, I kept getting the TVs and turning them on, man. Not much learning other than that. What high school? Do you go to Hamilton and what grade we had? 11th grade. I believe 11th grade bomb. Oh, Junior, I was I living on Enfield and Encino Street called Enfield right near Valley Vista. Which is really near like, um, I guess you know for you real realist. I mean geography. Nonsense is right near Ventura and white oak, right near our Lady of Grace Church there, And then there's also another Catholic high school. Um, they would serve as well. There's also a Ralph's and a S, Uh, Oh, It's enough with the Location. Okay. Why don't you just say though? Why do you have to, you know, shouting my air? Um, but anyway, so I was sleeping, right? It was like, I don't know, early in the morning and I heard the answering machine go off. And I any time The answer machine goes off before seven. In the morning Somebody died. And so I'm like, Oh, no. So the answer machine goes off. And the person hangs up and there's nobody and there's no message right? I could hear it from the other room. And for you, really young kids out there and answering machine is an old machine that we used to attach to the phone where people would call and leave your message. And now you just do it electronically. But back then we had audio tape like cassette tapes, and I think I still have the tape somewhere. And then the phone rang a second time, like two minutes later. And so I listen again for the answering machine. And it's like, Hey, it's Tim and Jan Leave. Message will call you back. It was not the most creative. Message in the world. I didn't get any awards. For creativity. In that message. I gave you the facts, Jack. And then I heard a voice and the voice was Doug McIntyre. Very good friend of mine. And he was, um he was doing radio at the time for KBC or not. I think he was, but I don't remember what he was doing. Remember him leaving a message saying, Hey, you've got to get up to player plane has flown into the World Trade Center on purpose. Remember him, saying that on purpose? And I got out. But I turned the TV and I couldn't believe it. I was watching man. It was like everything came to the whole world was crumbling around us. And then I remember going outside back then. Ni I. I smoked cigarettes. Right and I went outside. I am to have a cigarette, and I remember just being outside and and hearing All the TVs in the neighborhood on like everybody was up. Everybody's watching the T V. You can hear different networks around and and I could hear, like four or five different networks of You know, TV news coming out, and everybody's watching the news. Nobody's watching Blue's clues or, you know, infomercials or, you know, shopping networks or anything. Everybody is focused on the news. And then I came in watch a little more. I made a few phone calls because I was working that night and I wanted to see what was going on. You know, what was the plan was and then I remember going out in the afternoon, right around like 1, 30 or two o'clock. I was going to walk down the street to get something to eat, and I remember walking outside. And there was no noise. There's no TVs on. There were no airplanes or no helicopters. It was eerily quiet. It sounded like this..

Tiger Woods seriously injured in car accident in Los Angeles but 'awake, responsive and recovering' after right leg surgery
"It was it was incredible. Um, look, this is the biggest story that we've had all day. Most of us spent most of the morning on early afternoon watching news coverage of the Tiger Woods accident and the update that we're getting is about as good as it could be after an accident. Like he had where he was driving likely at a high rate of speed is not known, but likely for the action that we had. That's what happened. He's on a stretch of road here and outside of Los Angeles and Rancho Palos Verde is That you can get to 80 miles an hour Really fast that really quickly And you know, Mike, you drove that same stretch of road over the weekend. You can go down one of those curvy roads and suddenly you don't even think about it. You're going 80 miles an hour, hitting the median crossing the road hitting a sign the car flipped over. Cut a path through the shrubbery on the side of the road. And Tiger Woods. In many hours of surgery, has very serious injuries to his legs, Compound fracture and at least one of them. We talk to Steven Gregory, who broke the news of the Tiger Woods car accident earlier in the show today and said that look, it was pretty gruesome from the waist down from the legs for Tiger Woods compound fracture. The bone was sticking out of one of his legs. But other than that he didn't have Any life threatening injuries. So now it's about Tiger Woods, his legs and what's next for him, which is as good as you could be. When you see the accent? He had that we're not talking about life or death we're talking about now. Hey, can he play golf again? But certainly for a while it was How is he? Can he live? Is he not what's going on with this? And it was just one of those. Stories where you want, it bore information right away. It's like I don't care I wanted I wanted I wanted because you hear the story and you immediately assume the worst. And of course you're thinking about Kobe Bryant. What happened? And Oh, Kobe and Tiger and now and it was the first hour or so of this story or first out 90 minutes or so. It was just an insane amount of what What is it? We don't know. We know it was serious and he's in the hospital. And the first reports were moderately critical condition. He was in which I don't really know that that's a thing, but that's what we were told. And it was. It was just information flying by you when it was hard to even pay attention. It was just tell me something. Tell me something. Tell me something. Yeah, He really just Carter started to flow right and we had a three man text chain going back and forth very quickly, based on whatever new information Started to come out Steve Gregory K. F I Here in Los Angeles. I joined the show earlier tonight. You know the first to start delving into deeper and giving some details, And then the speculation begins and all the heartfelt Wishes of support and sympathy, and it really just kind of escalated quickly to where it's like. All right, Let's push that away because you don't wanna call it noise because it was a lot of positive energy coming to the To the situation and a lot of love right thinking about all the different aspects as golfer and and well pitchman, Tomo every being a household name. Too, you know, looking at, you know the family man and then the gulf side of things. So, like all these different angles start flowing through and you're trying to just push that all out of the way to go. Okay, what happened? As you said, I drove that stretch on Saturday and they have a couple of spots in it where you have the runaway truck lanes. You know where If you're having break issues, right, it's a different paved differently. So it helps toe slow things down a bit of different incline, etcetera. So those air on the road and you get into these curves and bends that You know, In this case, it's visibilities not not an issue. Aziz. We've talked about it with other subjects that have come up. Certainly what we would think about the horrific tragedy of the Kobe Bryant incident a year ago at visibility playing in and if there is a fog on the highways there in that stretch, Yank it gets pretty dense and with the quick bends that you have You know, could be even more problematic. Obviously, that didn't play here today, but it is one that you've really got to, you know, tenant to as much as we may have laughed at it and driver's Ed This is one of those stretches of road that tenant to use the real thing because you go from 50 and you start going down that highway and down ramp kind of situation. All of a sudden you're at 70 75. You're not hitting the accelerator. You're just going with with what The road grade is so I could see where it escalates. And so now it becomes the Let's dial it back and figure out how this came to pass and And feel fortunate that as we watch the photos and video of the wreckage that he got into a hospital to get the first part of

"Phi between 5:20 A.m. 6 20 pm Steve Gregory, a two hour documentary on Sunday at four o'clock, the death and the life of Kobe Bryant, and that was purposely named that way because of so much talk about how he died and controversy and some questions. Certainly us. Eve. You had talked about KT l, a news chopper pilot, Timlin, giving a play by play as to the chatter between the pilot and air traffic control. Mayor Garcetti. And what else do you cover in this interview? Because it's pretty extensive. Yeah, you know, Um, Here's the thing that I found out the other day. We were also granted of one on one with sheriff fiend away. But now he hasn't been speaking at all about any of this because He's being sued by Vanessa Bryant, and he's being sued because they're two lawsuits against him in the department over the crash site and over the pictures that the deputies took at the crash site. And I reached out to the department in my contacts there next to the list that I really would like to sit down with the sheriff. And I would like to talk to him about the events of the day. I said. I'm not. I don't want to ambush or anything like that, because it's all litigating units, all pending litigation. I know he's going to be able to talk about it. So let's just go past that. But I So we went back and forth. We had to negotiate this. We had to go through the county council. Believe it or not, just for the opportunity to talk with him about it. I didn't think it was gonna happen, and then I get a call from the last minute. One of the captains, and they said Okay, the sheriff, the sheriff's going to talk with you. But you know, we're gonna have some people in the room and I said, that's fine. I don't care. So he granted us an interview Now when the sheriff left captain came up to me and said, I just want you to know. 15 media outlets have requested to talk to him about the anniversary of Kobe Bryant's death. You're the only one that was branch of the interview. Spring. Impressive. It's actually no surprise. I am assuming that there was no great revelation that was given and the sheriff is being soon actually. Itwas wow, you'll have to lift you have to listen on Sunday. He gave us an interesting nugget dealing with the nest of Bryant that had never been revealed before, and he talks about when he arrived on the scene. He was in Whittier the day of the crash when he got the call, and when he got the call and the White House and did you know it was Kobe said, Well, they didn't know They were just operating on speculation at that point that they said we need to let you know that it's possible. Kobe Bryant was on the helicopter. So the sheriff knew this was gonna be a mess in terms of paparazzi and everything else so he Is he high? Tailed it up from north wittier when he gets to the lost Hills substation and watched in one of the first people he meets us in after Bryant. And he talks about that exchange with her and the other families. When he gets in there something he's never talked about before. Now, it's important. We know what vilification is about. It's not that the sheriff's department was was in any way involved in the crash itself. No, no, nothing like that. What had happened with some deputies apparently took pictures of the crash site, including the remains, and that in itself is sort of morbid in the cob and But that's one thing. But the other thing was. Then you hear the story about the at least the one deputy who was showing the pictures off of the bar and the bartender overheard and oversaw what was going on the bartender's the one that reported it. When they looked into it. They found out that there were deputies that we're doing that on the crash site. So sheriff immediately took administrative action. But the losses feel a lot of with how he reacted what he did, and the allegations from Vanessa Bryant in the state. The emotional distress that that incident caused because now they know there are pictures out there floating around of dismembered bodies and you know and the remains if you will, and those that's why the lawsuits were filed. But from that the sheriff actually took that and made it into legislation. And that was a bill that was just recently signed that now make that a misdemeanor for anyone to take pictures at a crime scene or crash site specifically like that. It's a rule that has never been in law before. No other than I think the Web the investigators who are tasked with doing exactly that Also before we go, I know you have an interview with real FM is a big boy, and I didn't know he had that close relationship with Ryan. Me either, And I'll tell you that was a revelation. I spoke with him for about 15 20 minutes the other day, and he went back to talk about they've known each other for more than 20 years when they were both in their twenties. Talking about getting together and having some beers. Talking about the day he would talk about how Kobe would just calling randomly and say, Hey, what's the big? What's the big music? What's dropping this week? You know, helping him put his music list together. Kobe would just stop by and talk to him on the radio for the sake of it. It was just right as the customer when Kobe was getting really, really big, so big boy talks about that relationship with him and the and the relationship his kids had with Kobe's kids and just the family angle to this. That's why again. Life is the second part of the title and we're getting a little grief already about it. And I understand it's a sensitive topic that I assure you. The documentary is done with the utmost professionalism and compassion. All right, Steve, that's this. Sunday, four PM to our news documentary Steve Gregory, Right here on K. Morgan Cook was the employee of the month and we always like to have the employee of the month on Tonto. Figure out Yeah. How they won why they want And were they excited that they care? I don't know. We have Steve Gregory on when he won. He was that thrilled about it. But, Morgan, you seem to be sort of shocked that you want welcome to the program. Right. Hey, thanks for having me. Yeah, I was a bit shocked to find out and I've done some investigative reporting since then. And Yeah, the election was rigged. 100%. All right, so they rigged it for women. They rigged it. I'm there was enough people out there that you knew where you were You campaigning for employee of the month. I mean, my whole life is campaigning for employees and months, Comma. You see me? I can't even afford a bowling shirt. You know if anyone needs that, you know $100 prize money. It's me. Yeah, that was that That Shannon promo over the holidays was great that you know she was hoping for world peace. She was hoping for a fair election. And she's hoping that one day, Morgan, do you get a shirt that fits our full length feature? It's gonna happen some day. A girl can dream, But so Yeah, Here's what I found out. In January. 1st Steve Gregory, you had him on when he won. You said he wasn't that excited right now. He was acting kind of weird about it. Well, it comes to turn out that he rigged this election so that the person that one after him would be a huge joke, and, like, just literally make him look even better. Such a scheme. Gregory move, right, Conway, right, but just like him, But yeah, so I won and I'll take it but What is it Come with what kind of vibe parking spot or prize or lunch or money? What is to come with? No parking spot. I actually got a parking ticket recently. So it came with that street thinking ticket. It came with a free lunch and, of course, Steve Gregory was Wondering where that Woz which was kind of fishy, don't you think? Um, No, he didn't. He didn't come with a free lunch. He's dead. Yeah, but you know, he's he needs free lunch. I mean, what? What is it? An upscale lunch? Is it the wiener factory? We understand. So what is it? No, I think it was whatever I wanted it to be. So now that you say that I really wish I would have asked her Wiener special because how funny would that have been? If everyone in the newsroom like Oh, yeah. Free lunch today And then Morgan picked Wienerschnitzel women, so it's free lunch for the whole newsroom. Yeah, for everybody. So that's why Steve was so interested. Like, Oh, Where's this? You know, free one. Chad. The Yes. So, uh, everybody owes me because I did get them free lunch yesterday. Uh, You know what? I'm not sure you're gonna have to ask Michelle. There's a Mediterranean place because Michelle was kind enough to make sure that I had something vegan from there. I saw her sweet you had you had the free lunch delivered to the news room, and you didn't even come in to eat with them. No, I hate it. Don't get me wrong it all I had a good four servings of it, but But you didn't know where it's time to pull, Michelle? Yeah, I told myself just get whatever everybody likes. So I guess she checked with Debra know it was a surprise came in. All right. But, Debra, you know if it's a Middle Eastern type deal, you know, those aren't the guys that really care about keeping the meat away from the vegetables man about that. All I cared about was my little rap didn't have any means. Okay, Whatever that rat they've been throwing up on the same grill a selam that day. Yeah, All right. So when we have employed the month I would like to know a little bit about him. I know you're from Texas, right? I am U haul? Yeah, I'm originally from Dallas. And then I went to school in Arkansas and then I've been out here. Where'd you go? Where? In Arkansas. The University of Arkansas. The rate Razorbacks, right? Yes, they were great football team till I got there. So that was pretty ironic, But it was a good time and then you and then you applied for million jobs And somehow you got the I Heart Media Ko Phi job. Yeah. Applied for a million one job somehow, Michelle, you know, got swindled by my application and brought me in. And then now you guys could literally cannot get rid of me. I have. I have a theory that Michelle hires people who are busted out money wise, CNN and then people end up borrowing from Michelle in order to get the money back. They have to win employee of the month to get the S o. She gets her cash back, and that's how it's rigged. Oh, you know what? I think you're onto something. Conway. I think I had. I think you are just might be able what you do. Okay. If I your producer, roving producer, or you're locked into a show now No, I'm still part time producer. So I I'm kind of the one that sells in when people are gone sick. I don't feel like coming in. So Yeah, I'm just there. Every object every day. I'm doing Gary in Jinan tomorrow, but, yeah, I just kind of feeling where they need me. What's the ultimate gold? You won't have your own show. Do you want to be a program Director? A general manager Lee Wanna leave radio? Yeah, Um, Ultimate goal would definitely be late. 90 V So I love news and I love comedy and I want to find a way to put those together. So Yeah. What about On the radio or TV or wherever it is going to be some kind of satire news. Yeah, but ultimately you like the host like a late night talk show. Oh, yeah, definitely had a had a late night show in Arkansas actually was called late night the light and had like two viewers. It was great. Really? Yeah. It's very so. Video or audio. What was it? It was AH TV show. Yes. So in Arkansas was the news director for television for NBC and Fox. Um, so Yeah, my in Arkansas, your news director. A technical news director. Yes, Like what Mondo doing? I was, you know, bigwig like that. No, actually, that that sounds like a bigger job than what you have now. Itwas. Yeah, I had my life together there, but I've always wanted to be out here in California..

Why do you get the test? Where you out there? Licking knobs this weekend. I go every week. Okay. I've been going every week, but So this is going to be a little complicated because you're the one true number four numbers. Go on. Which number? Sorry. I'm been negative. Knock wood. In fact, you remember the very first test. I told Yes. We reveal that on this very program that was very number shot up. The issue now is that vaccinations have not been rolling out as fast as everyone. And projected has wanted and people need well. It's the largest vaccination effort ever. So of course, they were going to be delays and hiccups and hurdles. Well, there were a couple things people weren't planning on. First of all, they were not planning on no shows. And that is causing a lot of bottle necking and a lot of, you know doses to be thrown away. And, you know, people are supposed to show up with their medical idea credentials or whatnot. And for those frontline health care workers you have to register. You have to go through the vetting. And if you don't show up, you know they have to remember. They have to dilute the doses each violence to be deluded anywhere from 5 to 7 doses. And when they delude him, they're ready to go. You don't show up. Those doses go bad. There's a time limit on that, and then they're throwing them away. But then that's when they then you start hearing these little rumors. Oh, yeah, Well, I was staring him. I have a friend of a friend in the cousin that got theirs when it's because they haven't left over Now they're just like, okay, fine. You want one Get come over here. Any arm will do will do. They call the Police department their nearest police department and start giving him to the patrol officers. And they're not even in there. Not even getting him. You have the police department. So that was part of a problem. The other part of the problem was the you were getting the doses. You remember. We have what? Three million doses in California. We're barely. We're not even a third of the way through the doses yet. That's because it's like you say, Shannon. This is such a massive logistical effort. And Politics play into this to remember the equity or the equity of equity metric Yes, yeah. You have issues like that Now they really wanted to play in this through, especially L. A county. They wanted to decide who's going to get it first, and they were following the CDC. But now the county started to tweak it a bit. And you see, now California's going to start allowing people over 75 to get it automatically, regardless of background, whatever. And if you're a teacher. They had to add that to the mix, too, because they're not keeping up with the tears. And.

The fire was reported just after 11 30 Friday night. No firefighters were hurt in that fire, and the cause remains unknown. The FDA has resented hundreds of invoices sent to distilleries that made hand sanitizer at the beginning of the pandemic. Distilleries used their equipment to make high alcohol content hand sanitizer. But the companies had to register with the FDA as a drug maker, and that comes with an annual fee of $15,000. Soon after the invoices went out. Officials with health and human services say they realized that was a mistake. On Thursday, the FDA reversed the fees and apologized for the error. Health Officials Warn Americans To Plan For The Spread Of Coronavirus In U.S.
"Be cove in nineteen the corona virus and its continued spread throughout the United States the death toll has risen to twelve people that number could be changing but as of now that's what we have this past week we had our first death in California that was connected to a cruise ship that traveled from the U. S. to Mexico Los Angeles also declared a health emergency after there were six new cases that were confirmed there one of which was a worker and Allie X. two screens incoming flights from China for more on this we spoke to Steve Gregory he's a reporter KFI news in Los Angeles to talk about how local cities are handling the outbreak and also why we might have to start practicing social distancing a state of emergency for people to know is that it's basically a message in which to free up funding resources supplies I think people are most commonly hearing state of emergency after a tornado and earthquake a flood and when they call in female things like that well in a health crisis like this state of emergency do exactly the same thing is other natural disasters and Daddy is that document allows the federal government to tap into a reserve fund or state government or a regional government and they're able to get these funds to help them pay for overtime additional staffing more testing kits which is a really big deal right now with this covert nineteen strain and in Los Angeles actually in some cases a little overdue to do this because we had already had the six confirmed cases and we also know that they've tested at least six hundred fifty people in the Los Angeles county area thus far and only the six have come out with the actual confirmation of the virus so that state of emergency it basically allows governments to tap into reserve funds and reserve resources the official speaking today said that this was not a response rooted in panic and that's important to say because people do your emergency and they are going to AZ what we know about the new cases and L. eighty six cases we do know that they all originated from the same travel situation and that means basically they've ruled out that it was person to person in California or in southern California south but basically those inspected it were a result of inbound travel from northern Italy in that area that people have been traveling there come back together as a group and then they splintered off after they got into the Los Angeles county area and then they were sort of having to work to contain all of them but they found the point of origin for the virus of all the six cases and that was the concerning part of this community spread it which they suspected was what was happening in Washington state that's the bad version that's not what you want I did read and correct me if I'm wrong they said that the six case was a person who works in a field that exposes them to international travelers what we've been able to find out if it's a worker at the Los Angeles International Airport and that worker with inside a minute what they call an airline trans Atlantic so this could be one of those VIP lounges something along those lines that was the first thing I thought airport I wrote in my notes right here airport and big question marks what are the other interesting things like Los Angeles officials are talking about this was this notion of social distancing it caught my ear right away there's different efforts to try to stem the spread of things so we know about isolating patients that are infected from other people so that doesn't get out quarantining we've heard about that but social distancing is this other element to this tell us about that because that one kind of leads into when you start hearing about ghost towns people not going out or I think the line was stay six feet away from strangers basically all we're saying is be aware of your personal space and make sure you're aware of others personal space that's really what it boils down to the very fancy term that medical professionals use and especially this case epidemiologists and others that have to deal with mass situations there have been a lot of meetings with those that run venues here we have staples center we have the Microsoft center we have a lot of venues in Los Angeles where lots of people gather M. in particular sports arenas and sports gatherings and that's a big problem right now which was funny to me during a press conference this morning when they were talking about that and every political official behind them were all standing shoulder to shoulder and it was kind of interesting that they're telling everyone else to be aware of their personal space and everyone else was almost arm in arm and it's kind of interesting but it really boils down to common sense and that's what the health director of the Los Angeles county health department was really trying to get across the declaration of state of emergency it's just an administrative function there's no need to panic wash your hands make sure you're aware of your space around you don't crowd someone else be cognizant of when you're going to a public space into a restroom or anything like that just be aware of your surroundings we keep talking about this declarations of health emergencies house lawmakers on Wednesday agreed to a deal to allocate about eight billion dollars to help federal government's fight the coronavirus some of this money will go to state officials and trickled on down so that's why it's important that these cities and counties and all star declaring these health emergencies and ice image we're talking about LA specifically but there's at least thirteen states have reported coronavirus cases since late January so this is gonna start popping up as this keeps spreading and you mentioned testing kits and all as they do more tests we'll see the numbers increase but still by and large not any reason to start panicking just yet Steve Gregory reporter if I news in Los Angeles thank you very much for joining us always later Oscar after taking a look at Los Angeles we want to take a look at New York where there have been cases of community spread it continues to spread their New York where there was at least twenty two cases that number could have risen by now and most of these cases in New York were tied to a lawyer in Manhattan who has underlying respiratory issues infected his family then a neighbor then friends and has led to about one thousand people self quarantining this is all happening in a very close knit Jewish community in the meantime New York continues to monitor and test those who are at risk of having contracted the virus for more on the spread there New York we spoke to Ben Guarino he's a reporter for The Washington Post so the community spread has been identified with a fifty year old attorney who works in midtown Manhattan he is part of a close knit community in Westchester New York where he attends kindergarten his children go to Jewish schools in the area and so those are the ones that have been made his self quarantine so hello members of the synagogue he attends classmate of his children who go to the schools have decided to tell quarantine at home so the officials estimate about a thousand people roughly in in Westchester affiliated with with some of these public meeting places have self quarantine so help walk us through how this happened because from my understanding this lawyer he does have an underlying respiratory condition so he's in the hospital but what happened was that there was a bar mitzvah and there was also a funeral where I think the funerals for a founder of of the synagogue there that's why there were so many people in attendance but explain to us what happened with the doctor I have my understanding was it was like the doctor and it was his wife and kids and then a neighbor it help walk us through that yes the New York City has disease detectives they call them and they try to find every link every possible link between someone who might have come into contact so we have this fifty year old attorney D. as you're exactly right you have an underlying respiratory illness and that's one of the demographics that can be severe for this disease so for most people it's going to be okay but in this case he had an underlying respiratory illness so he had a neighbor drive him to the hospital where he's currently in stable condition but then the neighbor tested positive that the attorney's wife who works at the midtown Manhattan law firm with him she tested positive their two children did and then adds more testing was done as these links were investigated then that number started to rise at a positive test a family friend tested positive that French wife tested positive and three of their four children so and as of this morning I don't know the specifics of the individuals but in addition to those folks I just mentioned eight other individuals with some community ties to this attorney have also tested positive in all of those cases their home they have mild or asymptomatic they're not expressing symptoms and
