"Yankees beat the angels four to three in fourteen innings in Anaheim before we continue pause ten seconds for station identification. This is the WFAN Yankees radio network. The metro erase the Phillies the buck swept away the pistons the jazz avoided a sweep the stars advanced in six over the predators. The hurricanes out-skated the caps Tony page after the Yanks on WFAN, WFAN, FM, New York. Susan waldman. It's called AL's report is brought to you by the New York lottery. The newest scratch off games are on sale. Now. Try your luck today. And you could bring home a win Susan's a long trip out there and then even longer game maybe to get this trip started. Yeah. And there's going to be let me get to the news right away. Here. There's been a change in plans of what was going to happen. Tomorrow lewanda is coming tomorrow. But he's not going to pitch. He'll be in the bullpen. They have option. Joe Harvey back to triple a and they're going to move everybody back in their regular turn. So there's not going to be a pitcher. They just they just can't do it. So her mind will go on his regulatory tomorrow, and then CC on Wednesday because they had backed everybody up so low wiser will be here, but he will be in the bullpen, and they will go. With what they were going to do. They thought they could give everybody an extra day six days. It would be helpful. But not after tonight. So that is the news as far as every in the other news Clint Frazier. He says, he's okay. Aaron Boone thinks he's fine. He said it was really scary. But it seems to be subsiding. And they've they've wrapped it pretty tightly. You know, you'll see how it is tomorrow. Because usually you can get through these kinds of things that night with the adrenaline and maybe sleeping. Maybe it'll it'll it'll swell up a little bit. But Steve Donahue's great with those compression wraps, so but they think he is fine. As far as this game this concerned Jay camp is like almost forgotten here because you know, you look at the resiliency of what this team has done and Aaron talking about finding a way to win right now. This is not easy for us where finding away we are struggling at the plate. We had really good pitching. Really good defense or shell who has more fun playing the game than anybody. I've seen a really long time just tremendous. And Erin was saying opportunities were very scarce. But what we saw with her shallow in the spring. He really came along. And we really. Thought he was going to going to help us somewhere down the line. And he certainly has done it. And it's only April Jonathan holder is a guy who struggled ally. You talk to him coming off the field. That's those are two huge innings for him. And for the team. Yeah. And for the team, I think is also I mean, he was smiling. When I when I grabbed him he's been really frustrated. This is a guy who has contributed so much in the times that he has been here and it was fastball command. And I know he's worth every every night when I'm in the stadium in going down. He's down in the video room. And he's looking at tape to try and find something today, they seem to a found it and it was fast ball command. And he's really made some some really good pitches, by the way, Aaron Boone says for Chapman that he thought the strike zone was really frustrating for me said I'll have to go back, and look, but there were some really close pitches there he thought he'd pitched really fine and was not getting the calls. And so he's not worried about Chapman. Susan the guys who. Who are in lineup of the ones the Yankees have to deal with and yesterday role. Mine was the hero today or shelhah. Mike talk minutes had a bunch of big hits. These guys are producing maybe not over the course of a six months season. But right now, we have to worry about is right now. And they're doing it. Well, they really aren't swinging. And it really is. It's kind of fun isn't it because you know, one of the things are loop. Void about on on pre-game. Was that? Now, these guys no matter what happens if they go down tomorrow, if somebody won't be tomorrow, obviously. But you know, when when the team starts to get back. They know they can play in the big leagues. And you know, what else the Yankees? No they can play in the big leagues. So if something else happens, you wouldn't be afraid to bring them up immediately any of them. I think everybody has his earned their stripes. There isn't anybody? That's an automatic out that of these kids that have come up, and it's it's growth in. It's pretty exciting. And they're finding a way to win this very resilient group. And a lot of these guys as you said you name some of the names they're showing everybody that they can play at this. Level. All I can tell you knew the Mike trowel was coming up in the thirteenth inning against Jonathan holder before this game. You would have thought that his angels victory. But holder with two scoreless innings helps the get the win and they're continuing to roll opener of this road trip as you said tell everybody again the pitching tomorrow is now is on and is in the bullpen and the wiser because in the bullpen and Joe Harvey has been option to AAA testing. We'll keep our Clint Frazier and see if that ankles. Okay. Thank you, Susan. Okay. Sweney Yankees win this one in fourteen innings by the final four to three. Yes, we are live at three oh five AM on the east coast highlights of this game. When we come back. This is the Sunway of gas and power Yankees post game show on the WFAN.

"Closer to selection Sunday less than ten days away and teams are trying to improve their stock by the day. And by the game a team that is right on the bubble and his trying to get back to the NC double A tournament or the temple owls. They are twenty two and eight coming off a nice win on Thursday night at uconn. And they welcome in UCF who's ranked in the top twenty five coming up Saturday at the Liacouras center at four PM eastern. We had out to the campus of temple university where I'm a proud alum. And we welcome in a man that I know very well he's in his final season as the head coach of the temple owls, and that's friend Dumpty. Who's kind enough to join us right now for a few minutes on CBS sports radio. Coach always honor to talk to you. Thank you for the time. And how are you? I'm doing great sex. Thank you. Well, thank you for coming on. So let me first start you off. And I know you're focused on Saturday and the match up with UCF, but this is your final year at temple. When you get a moment to reflect on your journey at temple. What are some of the memories that come to mind, and what has this year been like for you with your last go around the house? Well, this year has been terrific. We've had a good year. And obviously we have a tremendous game against UCF to look forward to hear. They're they're a terrific team. So that the challenges absolutely right in front of us. But I I've had a wonderful time at temple. It's been great. I'm gonna continue to help teach classes here. Maybe we'll do one on my own. But we'll we'll see. But and whatever else I can do it's been great for me. And to me as was the university of Pennsylvania. So we're pretty lucky guys neck have you got an emotional this year have you reflected or is it all business still looking at what this team could still accomplish? Yeah. I don't think I thought one bit about this being my last year. The only time I have is when. The other teams have decided to make it make an issue out of it before the game. And, you know, give me something a plaque or a ball, or you know, dozen golf balls or whatever it has to be I've gotten some very nice things and. And it's been very nice, but certainly not necessary. I'm worried about shows Austin and Ernest the plaque the senior year how well we can do. And it just speaks to the person you are. But you see some of the coaches that have reached out coach Brett Brown. Phil Martelli who we know. You're very close with Steve Donahue as well. And also, Jay, right? That has to mean, something extra special when people that are adversaries of yours or even people that are in the NBA take a few moments to send their well wishes coming down through the final games of the season. Yeah. It's been terrific. And I'm very appreciative of that. I've had a chance to to watch some of those things and see and read some of the things that they've said some very flattered by it. But now again at the thought that you have or with the president guys, they they deserve every every ounce of energy. You can put in to make this year as good as it can be friends comfy is my guest right now. It's Zach yelled show.

"Braun is here, gene mcmanus's here. Michael Kornheiser here. Nigel is running the board. I think we have a customer walking in fantastic. He may have. Metro. Yeah. Which way to the buoy. Put them on. What's he doing? So anyway, there's I want to open with this. I will get to I will get to the dinner that I had last night. Celebrate Tori dinner for my daughter. Elizabeth birthday. We'll get to that in a little while. But after the dinner I walked back. It was at the palm. I walked back to the building where we do the show. And I went to get my stuff to go home. My car was in the garage. It's about three blocks in half block, something like that. And while I was in the building the televisions are on all over the place in the area. So I happened to notice there was a game at the palestra this game. At the palestra pen was involved pen was playing Villanova at the police. I have a great soft spot in my heart for the police Joe, which I went to many many times soft spot in my heart for the university of Pennsylvania. Where Michael went to college and Penn was playing Villanova now Villanova has not lost in a big five game since two thousand and twelve the big five for those of you who are not familiar with Philadelphia basketball, LaSalle Penn Saint Joseph's temple and Villanova. And they play each other every year everybody plays each other. They have big five championship Villanova wins. All the time. They haven't lost in twenty five games in the big five since two thousand twelve and for good reason, they've been national champions twice the national powerhouse. Nobody else's a national powerhouse at the time that power right at the time that I walked out of the building the score was fifty eight fifty one in favor of Penn with about seven or eight minutes to go, and I called Michael, and I left a message. I said, I don't know how long is it gonna last? But this is on TV. And and you did what I. Immediately turned it on I texted list because I was walking up front steps at the time. And this was reminding me a lot of the Duke Yale game from this weekend. You'll only was there for a half figured pen put up a good fight. But even with I turn it on with about six minutes left. They would they would slowly crumble that did not happen. Pin wins the game. Penn has in the last pen was old and forty one the last forty one times they played ranked teams. Oh and forty one pen was when I was young pen was a national powerhouse the former my former classmate in high school, Stephen Pearsall was the lead guard of a team that did not make the NCAA. But one the ivy's, you know, the pen in Princeton were national powerhouses St. Bilski, my friend who was the former athletic director for many years at the university of Pennsylvania after athletic director GW he was on a final fourteen. He was the lead guard on a final fourteen. Penn was good. But this is is. It's forty five fifty years ago. This is a long time, which you know, when that forty second game was when you say, oh and forty because I'm guessing every year, they get one of the two Villanova maybe a temple and then one in the tournament that mainly that's years and years, it's a lot of years. So I love the pa-. I love looking at the palestra. So this great win for Penn. Now coached by Steve Donnie, Steve Donoghue. He's finally back home right seved on me was an assistant to to Fran Dunphy friend. He's a great coach Fran left about nine or ten years ago to go to temple where he might he might be able to recruit a little bit differently than he recruited at Penn sewer cooed, Philadelphia and might be able to little differently. He's had moderate success. I on balance he probably had more success. Penn bullpen went through a series of coaches, some of whom were alums and great players and never worked out. Steve Donahue, left pen to go to Cornell as a head coach. It was great. Then went to BC was bad didn't work out a BC at all. And is now back in the Ivy league, which is like JT three very successful at Princeton should probably be an Ivy league coach of Penn get Steve Donoghue back. And so it's a very for me, very warm moment..

"Got only two it's one of them was. A home run and that. Was enough to beat the Tigers by. The final of two to one they've now taken two out of three from Detroit in this, four game series one more still to come tomorrow before big nine game. Road trip that begins on Labor Day this is the Aguirre energy Yankees post. Game show I'm Sweeney Murdy Masahiro, Tanaka has really pitched very well for the. Yankees since the all-star, break, he's, allowed two or fewer. Runs in eight of his last ten starts he did so, again today, just one run allowed in the. First thing three pretty weak singles to start the ball game I three batters for Tanaka then he retired eight in. A row ended up giving up a sacrifice fly that brought in that one run in the first thing but then he allowed nothing more ran into a little bit of. Trouble again in. The seventh got a couple of big strikeouts to. Finish that. Off. Stranding, runners. At second and third the didn't get much going against Daniel Norris nothing In fact through the. First four innings glacier Torres hit a two run Homer after a leadoff walk by Magellan do our Yup and do our Torres we've, talked about those two guys lot and what they can do they were. Difference makers for the Yankees offensively in this ball game and that was all. They had it turned out to, be enough in back of Tanaka Jonathan holder and Potenza said that problem, again with his finger with blood coming. From for that cut on his finger and that was why the. Trainer Steve Donahue ran out long with air boon to check on, the Kansas after two outs in. The knife and you know you kind of wonder what happened right there It's a, manageable but you still. Kinda worry. With Jacoby Jones had a two out single up the middle and all of a sudden the go ahead run is once again in the batter's box just like. It was on Thursday night when Batanes gives up. The two home runs and you'd like. To see him bounce back from that he did he got the final out and got the save and the. Yankees ended up put the win that cut on the finger just seems to be a little bothersome I am after watching. For the last three months we've talked about this a little bit I am not the least bit concerned with his pitching and his ability late in, the ball, games right now the only thing I'm worried about is that finger and how much it's. Going to, act up if it becomes a problem but as far as. What he's shown from early in the season bouncing back and being so incredibly dominant over the course of, the last few months be very, I'd be very pleased with what I've seen from him in that regard and gleyber Torres once again getting. A big hit for the Yankees as we hit September the Need a lot more of these big hits they need, to rookies to to. Keep doing. What they're doing because they're going to need these guys to continue to step up as they hit post-season the ankles are beginning to get a little bit healthier. Gary Sanchez over four and Andrew mccutchen made his. Debut with the Yankees he was all. For three Denia Maria came in and he was a defensive replacement late in the ball game so the Yankees. Have started to get a little bit more as far as the reinforcements wait a little bit healthier still as they get. Through September they picked up with number eighty six today equaling their high watermark eighty six and fifty thirty six games over for the season Yankees one, or two, to one over the Tigers or backwards Susan Waldman clubhouse report highlights of the game and. More this, is the Aguirre energy post game show the WFAN Yankees radio network Game.

"It is a beautiful day. Today it is eighty one degrees here in. New York it was cloudy and a little light rain this morning. When I got up and now is mostly blue skies there are some big heavy. Clouds up above but certainly not like yesterday. And they finished that game Justin, the nicotine, yesterday because the skies opened up as I was doing I started a game Greg bird on. The field and under the umbrella actually but it was a really was a deluge early in the. Morning and then, right after the game ended so a Yankees you get and today there should be no problem this, far as I have heard We had. An award ceremony on the field that I want. To mention because one of John and my favorite people knew full world is the Yankees head athletic trainer Steve. Donahue and he just got the national trainer, of the year award from the national athletic trainers association and it's a big honor there's a lot of there's a lot of. Teams I mean every, team has a head athletic trainer and Steve Donoghue has, been this is thirty third year as he told me yesterday when. They're taking the team pictures thirty third. Year and great to see, Stevie recognized for such a wonderful job. Taking care of a baseball team Over the years, particularly with aging ones that. He's gone through over the years and now keeping. Everybody on, the field Steve Donoghue does that he, and his staff do a. Great job so John and I send our heartiest congratulations to the one and only Steve.

"Socks, on the other hand not a problem at, all Yankees finish off, a three game sweep by beating, the socks in Chicago Seven to three and they do it on the back of Luis Severino this time three good pitching performances let's talk about. It, was Susan Waldman all the clubhouse report is brought to. You by the New York lottery play the, new scratch off games from the New. York lottery went anywhere with any time I should mention this is the gear. Energy Yankees post game show Susan Severino I think taking a lot of good steps forward with this out, yeah I think you're writing your. Heard Austin role mind talking about it and I think, he was, very very articulate about what is. Going on with him and how he did get more confidence and so is going on and how they. Are human now Aaron Boone said he looked a lot more like himself he had some. Trouble in the first inning and then. He got sharper after that Aaron thinks this is the best slider that he has had in a while and he said that he and. Remind got on the same page and the change was a factor tonight and the change has Benefactor for for him he liked the tilt on the slider, and he said seven strong innings another big start for him very important I want, to go back to. What role remind had said because you. Know you've been in that club housing you've you've seen Severino after these three losses and he's down on his he was down on himself and you're trying and pump yourself up but you know even the. Best pitchers think that you know. You have three or four bad starts in a row you never. Going, to get anybody out again and it really, happens and and remind, you could see as soon as, the Yankees escorts and Ryan and obviously when Stanton hit that grand slam and that all of a sudden something really changed and and he went. Back, to doing what he has done Stanton Aaron Boone wanted. To talk about a lot because saying he's, been such a pro he's been so. Consistent up there he's got a plan for every guy that he is facing. Another big swing for him somebody had asked Aaron about Sean Carlos Stanton do you ever have to talk, to him because when When judge went down do you. Have to tell him not to. Take too much on himself because this team is actually very. Short handed if you look. At it in the lineup they really are. And he said I don't worry too much? About him He he knows what he's. He knows who, he is and he knows what he can. Do he will never do that. And we knew he. Knows he's a solid pro. And what he, has done Aaron said I'm pleased with the bounceback, here and then he stopped for, a minute. And he said this is not easy. For us right, now this is a very difficult time we're really short handed things have been going wrong I am really I'm really proud of these guys and. You know you try and get everybody resting you can't you have to think about, that too because you know you have two big guys out and people playing. Through little little nicks being nicked, up and you do. Have to try and get people rest and it. Just it has to happen and you wanna play everybody all the time but. You can't because there's no no days off now for another ten days and this is a tough stretch like hopefully. Going home we'll we'll help a lot in, case anybody missing. Aaron judge did, throw from the did take fly balls In the outfield he caught the. Ball and then sort of rolled it in for a, while and then a couple of throws to second base I didn't talk to him afterwards but at least you is out. There has not, swung a bat yet so this is still a ways, away you know, it sounds, Susan Aaron Bill was finally making the first concession about what the weekend series really did. To them because he didn't. Want to admit it he's still talked about the great season they're having you. Know it's, okay to admit that it's more than just a bump in the road. It was a, it was a pretty large bump and they're. Doing their best to get through. This well it is. And it's something you can. Still have a, good season and realized to where you are this, team is what now twenty nine, games over. Five hundred twenty eight something like that. Whatever it is, it's almost thirty games over five hundred know the problem is is that the team in front of them is just playing out of their minds. And at the moment it's just a better team it's a better team now and, they've got problems too but they've been hitting so much that you don't see. The problems in the bullpen and, they end their third. And fourth and fifth starters when you get past. Sales, OS and been there either and you know there's When things go right they go, right diverse comes off the d. l. and has a hit and hits. A home run I it's things go. Right for, other teams to, it. Does not take away from the fact that the team is having a very good year it's probably not what people thought at. The beginning but there's still time to. Write it, is what two months left or a month and a half left and you you you. Do the best, you can to get there but I think this is the first time Sweeney I. Think, you're right now Aaron Boone is a very positive person kind of a smile he'll find the positive in anything and it's not terrible to admit that you're being played by, another team and. You have to. Get your team you know back back. In. Sync the way it was at the beginning of the season and everybody's hands feet and mouths zero k and j half, is still schedule the pitch. Tomorrow yes I hope he's watch air listening to post, game show or whatever he's doing getting all that yes may have to have a swab and it's it'd be tested to. Make sure that, he is not contagious and all systems are go for, j. hap- tomorrow and Yeah that'll that'll be that'll be. Really, good he's he's he's a really, good pitch will waive Tim from across the room and shake hands with and maybe a month from now just don't touch. Anything Don't play. Catch with, the only one that I'm. Thinking about Steve Donahue and Austin, remind were, the ones that were the closest contact. You, as, long as he's not throwing spitters I don't think it's a problem you know by the way it's not it's not that, it is contagious but The people have gotten it and the wives don't. Get it and not every kid. In the, household gets it so it. Is contagious but it's not poison, Ivy Which. I'm. Fighting myself. I brought. That up yes I. Hope I hope you're better I hope he's better and we will see. You both tomorrow we'll see you tomorrow Sweney thank you Susan Yankees beat the White Sox seven to three come home for a. "Yankees beat the socks just not the ones they're. Chasing, a seven nothing. Win in Chicago, opener of a, three-game series against the White Sox and the Yankees come away with the wind and a five. Game losing streak this is the gara- energy Yankees post, game show I'm swinging Marie let's start things off a Susan Waldman clubhouse, report it's brought to you by the New York lottery play the newest scratch off games from, the New York, lottery win anywhere win anytime Susan I dunno if. Lance Lynn will ever, pitch a better game. While he's wearing a Yankee uniform but he sure picked a good time. For that one yeah he sure did and you know and Aaron, Boone it, just said that this is the. One that he was used to seeing in Saint Louis he said he saw him a lot in Saint Louis and. He sa- he said when he knew that he was becoming available Aaron thought that his. Stuff was was a lot better than the numbers that he had had and. You know and I know that Lance Lynn started off slowly obviously when you. Don't it's. A. Big, deal I know people think that while they should be able to do it When you don't. Have spring training and you and. You sign late it takes a long time. To get because that's what spring training is this is the Lance Lynn that I think they thought they were getting now he can be inconsistent we've. Seen that too is Saint Louis but the idea. That Lance Lynn. Went out there and pitch that kind of game. And you know you can only beat who you played I don't want to hear anything that you know the the, White, Sox. Aren't. Aren't, very good the maybe they're not they just swept Tampa but you can only beat who you, who you play I thought he was masterful with those. Fast, balls and Aaron. Boone saying he, was able to, change plane with the fast ball and the two seamer and he used the four seamer at. The top of the zone and then gets the sinker, and the bottom so uses two planes consistent work in his career consistent, worker and his career we needed that we thought that he was coming on that's all I. Wanted to get, him he's capable of giving us a lot of. Of, innings to arrest, the bullpen which was. Very very important yeah this is a lot different than a game the The one. Seven to five or seven to six I've said many times there is nothing. That makes team looked better restores order quite like a. Well pitched game yeah absolutely and a. Quick well-pitched gain and it helps the infielders helps the plane lecture offense go, to work you're, not always. Coming. From behind and you're not always tense about. Everything Aaron said this was a, very tough day. Today I, thought we played, well, we, gotta keep it going and see may, be can take it from here tomorrow then he said look we know that we're really good we had a bad weekend and it. Was able he was able to rest the pan how, 'bout Aaron Hicks it's, because I asked him about Matt. Davidson face high school I mean that's. He said oh no he was. A, pitcher in high school and do you know that's that's a roster spot if. He can. Do, that and comes in into the pan and things like. That that's a one guy being instead of two in. There, but for the. Yankees I, think a very big win it was a good day for glacier Torres who needed one, of those obviously Hicks has been pretty steady and. Neil Walker gets to get into the afternoon it's good no no reason to about Andrew Hart was just to. Give, he. Said he was going to have Walker play today anyway no matter what so very it's I understand. The stinging of of this weekend is still very strong in everybody's minds You can only, play who you're playing, at the time and today was the day. To go and beat. The White Sox and that's just. What they did and this is important for tourism and. Do hall so I mean they've been pushed into roles because, of some of the injuries to move. Further up in the lineup, did not have a good series in Boston it's important for them to wipe that. Taste out of, their, mouth pretty quickly well it really. Is also and then you know you know that. They're going to hear the same while you know their rookies. And they make mistakes and it's the end, of the year. And maybe, it's too much, for, them, I it's not you get to regroup, and you get to go out the next day and then do har- has gotten an awful lot better and and you're going to. Have to live with this if that's you are going, to live with this, that's what's going to happen he. Is going to play and you know. He's been most of the time. Been, awfully good obviously the footwork gets to him a little bit I pretty much. Cost him. The, game but as of yesterday that game was not just. And do hard Greg bird could've cotton that could have. Gotten, that ball also. Game would, have been over starting to get healthier adding Lance Lynn to the rotation is a big Difference from what Sonny gray was providing and. All signs point to. J. hap- coming off the deal. On Thursday absolutely so far yes evidently the swabs you, take you have to make sure he's not contagious I think that's very. Important I. Think, it's, really important particularly for Steve Donahue, and the trading that have to do? That and I guess that is I guess the swab was negative and all signs point pointing pitching on Thursday all. Right. Lance Lynn, I. Guess I is anybody asking, will they get another start next time I'll Think maybe. In five days out, there again I think so maybe we'll. Have to ask tomorrow and, you, can, report back okay I will thank you. Susan Yankees beat the White Sox by the final. Of seven nothing ending, a, five game, skid it's the opener of a three-game series in Chicago than the return home for. A, long homestand we'll take a look the schedule coming up a little. Bit you'll hear from Yankee. Manager Aaron Boone we hope to hear from Lance, Lynn, you'll listen to. The highlights of the ball game we come back plus look the scoreboard the AKIs. Have shaved half a game. Off of that deficit against, the Red Sox now nine back a guy in the AL east. Boston was off tonight we'll, check the full scoreboard the rest of the scoreboard a little bit Yankees seven. Nothing in. Chicago, this, is the Aguirre energy Yankees post, game show on the WFAN Yankees radio? Network Hey guys pack in your car Hey neighbor Yeah we're just taking overnight trips to. The.
