"Is making stuff up said. That's why yeah going back to the way. The bias thing was covered. It was covered properly right. He said those things no one you know. Sometimes you'll see a headline where they will paraphrase and it mislead you into what he actually said in this case we we heard it and we saw it right. There was nothing misleading. Burma's misguiding about it. But i do agree with him. That in some cases we as the media whether you want to call it right or not. I'm not really. We embellish as you. you know. i'm not in amelia mets. Wrap up the series of the marlins tonight at city field carlos garage kozak thompson. Seven ten just to circle back to the scottsdale. You mentioned the media. Did you see what jeff passan did yesterday. Oh man so i so. The scots story breaks and he's jumping in on it understandably sees a baseball guy right so he was the first not the first one but he made the connection of on the same night. Scott was arrested for being drunk. He was at steve collins house for sure and but hadn't didn't have the time line part of it so people are coming after them like. Yeah you're trying to insinuate that. Colin is to blame it. Got scott liquor it up and let him leave so on and so forth so because there is kind of an anti met. Maybe steve cohen agenda from passing. It seems you just have to be realistic about that. Maybe it's the national media in general the anti meds and the clown so from passing and i can see why people were maybe thinking that. Be that as it may so a defense attorney david wall much about it. Maybe he's a calling buddy or you know an associate or something. He responds to pass tweet and he writes end question mark. I guess you're desperately trying to smear calling because you've got nothing else to do. She comes after him. So i guess this guy son was arrested. I dunno whenever felony charges for security sales sons. In trouble so fasten replies kofi went right. I suppose whatever i have to do is better than what you have to do. Which visit your son in jail. I actually read that and said that exhausted. Whoa dan right off. Yeah so that was lunar yesterday. Yes yes one other outta down game a note. The dodgers stop the braves last night. Four to three. So the mets pick up another half game on atlanta. They're five back actually. Give another one. Giants loss to the brewers. Five to san francisco is skidding here. The dodgers are shrieking a bit so they have taken over first place in the nfl west. About milwaukee thirty games over five hundred. That is a a good job outta them. Here's joe judge giants practice yesterday. He got into a long answer on the teams run game last season and how they basically changed schemes from outside zone. Stretch team to an inside straight ahead. Team midseason just to suit their strengths and he finished with this and really think more about the players. You're playing with what they do. Well then some magical scheme. You gap me. We'll miss you coach. Lines natural playbook from the waterboy. We all be pretty good. But i love this good movie in the south collection coach but like movies. I like to watch him against straight face like he. Give you like a grin. It was just dead like serious point from here for all coach collins. Boy from the waterboy doesn't even break character or character his his former boss bill ballot check in typically happy mood yesterday as he faced the media. We gave you the quote. Hadn't found the audio yet here. It was on cam. Newton and the his vaccine status and whether or not that played into him being cut in belgium. Kinda got up on the soapbox a little bit you guys keep talking about that. You guys can look it up. You have the access to a lot of information. But the number of players and coaches and staff members that have been affected by cohen in this training camp who have been vaccinated is pretty high number meaning like ed doesn't make much of a number. Well actually people have been knocking him down because of the guys that have tested positive. I think that those who are unvaccinated. It was like seven times more than those who were kind of showing theory. Urban meyer thing. I read something. This morning is interesting because of what he said that yeah. The vacuum vaccinated not vaccinated apart. Meantime they cut twenty four guys. How many were unvaccinated. How many were on the twenty four ten one. Yeah wow schefter said. They're in the top five of rosters as far as trying to make a big deal all right so the players association rattled their cages. And you notice the jaguars released a statement yesterday. We didn't make any decisions page. Look at the troops in the twenty. Three guys were vaccinated right. so right. who's gonna defend them. Meyer should not be getting ripped here for being honest and if it comes down to if two players are on the bubble they are very similar and you got to choose one of the other ones vaccinating not. He was basically saying that it plays them when you have to make a tough decision. You're factoring in everything as you usually in these cases it's bottom of the roster guy someone you really relying on. You don't want to have him taking a flyer anyway. Coaches oriental. Say this guy you say that guy vaccinate. So we're going with him simples that he's going to be potentially less problems that's it that's all we was saying. Yeah one more from ballot check so they get off the vaccine softened. Okay see cut cam. So why did jones when the job. What did you see to make the call. You know we've had you know weeks of meetings on all players so it'd be impossible to rehash everything that happened. That's a clinic man is i. Can't i don't have time. I i know people can't stand him and he's surly new york covering him. It was amazing because if you ask him about the giants when he worked here i mean he will garnish soliloquy talking about his team. Well he filibusters when someone gives him one of those okay. I'll us up ten minutes of my on that and then the less time to answer other questions hoy's with the media like was cutting cam one of the you know the tougher calls you he. I can't rank them unbelievable. Yeah guard vincis an eagle now. Obviously they acquired him from the jaguars. Welcome to philadelphia fans here. What are your thoughts on it men. I've just heard Kind everybody is you know That's the big thing. Tongue-in-cheek sounds like he and head coach nick serianni or of the same. Ill indianapolis draft visit and we're playing horse and it was getting pretty competitive out of button bone now to take that off because of the game was getting moved to competitive. Follow up on how that went dang. Yeah he did buy up and then we started talking. Ball is kinda. Distract me to my shirt off and it didn't help hell. I'm back back for now. View calls out there right. So he's opening. Press conference was not disaster. All but then more. Because i think it was. He was trying to go with almost like a script. He wasn't reading off a script but he clearly had an idea in his mind of what he wanted to say but he was having a hard time recalling it but when you just let him go he's very entertaining and he was. He has arianna. Yeah yeah yeah. He had the whole thing. I thought about like. Oh we're gonna we're gonna play ping pong and we're gonna play this game like games inside the largest competition. Just be football so here you go right when she comes in for a draft visit. Let's play some horse so those two together right does the naked yoga and they'll clubhouse in the locker room right. I'm sure that goes over. Well with the i wonder how the whole holding in his number twos For his competition with lawrence.

"It kind of well. It very get something out of his five get work. That's for sure. Appreciate you getting up early every day. It's been fun to get to know you. Yeah definitely thanks. For having me on today bleacher tweets already buster bleacher tweets for a wednesday. I up we have george franko george writes in the braves lost the pirates. Eleven to one and can't get any momentum on a scale of one to ten. How worried should sn it in the braves be and we should note. That was from two days ago or a dago because they lost to the pirates again last night. Two to one. How worried should they be buster. Yeah that was a tough loss. Last night i put it at about eight and a half to nine at this point according to fan graphs or chances for making the playoffs are something arranged at twelve to fourteen percents in keep in mind. We've seen the mets spent aggressively during the last county. Steve collins took over as as the owner. And you know that they're going to be aggressive leading up to the trade deadline. They're going to be looking. Extend their advantage. And the message got back jaffna gala mike conforto or slowly finding their way getting their swings back. Absolutely you know the braves between now and say july twenty fifth that are going to define whether or not they're going to attend this year last one for the day. Brian pickle nikki at. I don't know about that. Why is the derby and all star game. Always on a monday and tuesday. There would clearly be more views ratings if it was on a saturday sunday. Please don't tell me major league baseball does it. Because that's the way it's always been it's the mid summer classic not the mid week classic but ch- like the casting on that i would say this from the owner's perspective. What is absolute gold that they never wanted. Turn down our weekends in the summertime because the kids go to the ballpark and so those schedule various things during the course of the year. They want their weekend gold mines and so they figure you know what. Let the all star game on monday tuesday. Mid week people are gonna watch the homerun derby. It's probably going to be the highest rated In baseball amount of the year. People watch the all star game and then on the weekend in the summertime. He will go to the ballpark and the owners are not going to bypass that opportunities. That make sense sailor. Oh yeah absolutely. I was kind of wondering the same. As when i saw this tweet for from brian. But that makes total sense weekend. Gold mine. sounds like a knife episode title. Buster while you're the one who puts the titles on it all right that'll be what it is today. And that is it for bleacher..

"Rick tittle eight two hundred chicken wings at yo mama's house last night now back to fat boy boy. Thank you for that and Welcome back to the show. One eight hundred eight seven eight play. Hey listen every once in awhile you can have a slow sports day. And i always say there aren't any slow sports days. There's only slow sports hosts. But i mean it's true. There's sometimes you're a you I always think like on a friday. You can spend the whole show just talking about upcoming. nfl games. But that's what she wanted to do. And then on monday. I usually spend at least a third of the show talking about the nfl games. You could spend the whole show doing that but then some days there's not tons but in america we have so many sports always something to talk about. But i bring that up because Yesterday sportscenter twitter sportscenter. Of course that's espn has thirty seven. Point two million fans weeded out. Who has the worse fan base in sports. It's just it's a firestorm out of complete thin air right because all you're gonna do. I mean if you just want to drive quitter traffic as as such thing. It'll work you know it'd be like i don't know i just thought it was funny to pour gasoline on a fire that didn't even exist just to get going one. Eight hundred eight seven eight play coming up in. We don't have a guess until eleven forty so there's plenty of time if you'd like to chime in one eight hundred eight seven eight five to nine wanted to alcohol baseball in the next hour. I'm going to get into the way of the hall of fame is kind of change things around something keep in mind but robbie no don't you know Got himself into another spot of bother. And if you think about all things happening off the field this winter concerning major league. Baseball as i said i'll get into the whole hall of fame thing in the next hour for the the ballot because it was released earlier this week for twenty twenty one but robinson cano has another he. Ed suspension and he has been suspended for the the upcoming season. It was the drug stanozolol and this is always think i always said. That's like a soviet toast. Get your vodka. Aw because it's the second positive test. He has been suspended. The entire twenty twenty one season. I'll about that back. In two thousand eighteen. He was suspended. Eighty games and sandy alderson. Who team president of the matt said. Well we were extremely disappointed to be informed about robinson suspension for violating major league baseball's joint drug prevention and treatment program. The violation is very unfortunate for him. You organization our fans and the sport mets fully support. 'em all these efforts or eliminating performance enhancing substance from the game. Now you could make a statement as i welded. Sandy alderson presided over a team. That kind of invented it. But i mean cano is really giving up some cash and he's rich but he's thirty eight years old. And how much longer can you keep paying his salary. This year is twenty four million dollars. The mariners by the way are responsible for three point. Seven five of the salary with the mets on the hook for the rest. Now here's the thing about robbie casinos contract. He is twenty four million dollars next year. I don't mean sorry next year. He's out he's oh twenty four million dollars in two thousand twenty two and so twenty four million dollars in twenty twenty three. So he's a guy who they say you can go to spring training with the mets in twenty twenty two out. Here's the thing about a guy that signed to play through. He's forty years old. He was great this year. One is not been great. You know for a guy who looks like he moves in slow motion every ground ball ever seen hit the him like cox's his arm back sideways. Like throwing it over to. I now and it's just like oh. There's there's no sense of urgency to them but all he does rake and play great defense. It's weird it's very weird but this year. He hit three sixteen with ten homers in that short season. He's a career three to hit her. He has twenty six hundred. Twenty four hits. He has three hundred and thirty. Four home runs now. Those numbers if you are a d. h. Are good if you're a second baseman. Their incredible that can base is not a position of power. Every once in a while you get a ryan sambergen. Jeff kent at second base is not a huge sluggers position. It's usually a guy who's you know five nine and has a little teeny glove and is a slick fielder a little wizard up there and then punch and judy. At the plate and sits six home runs a year bring up robbie because there's no way he's getting into cooperstown now you just. You just can't see him getting in with to pd suspensions and before that you would say look he was on. He was a yankee was his best years. And now he's a met through new york teams. That's a guaranteed again now. But she could say in a way. This isn't the way the mets wanted it to happen. It's not but it does clear up a little bit of logjam because jeff mcneil's natural position at second base. Jd davis will play third base full-time and that allows them to put michael conforto and brandon nimmo in the outfield corners. But here's the thing the mariners now don't have to pay or connote a play for a different team. They get to save their three point. Seven five million does not count against the team. And the mets have twenty point two five million dollars burning a hole in their pocket and that new owner steve collins from everything. I've seen people saying this is the ultimate owner. This is the guy you want to have. Well that's him coming in because he says he just wants to win. He's going to spend spend spend spend well. He's got an extra. I mean that's more than a qualifying offer right there. And i know they tried.

"The Dodgers won the World Series last night. But it's not just a matter of last night. It's not just a matter of the World Series. It's not just this year or last year. Major league Baseball has gotten over Reliant. On the stats. On the analytics. What happens on the field? What happens of the soul? It's gone. We might as well be watching a computer simulation instead of real human beings. Is the pitcher's scared. Is the batter scared? Is he in a slump? Is it cold outside? Is it warm? Is the picture dealing Does the batter. Swing at every in anything in this game. You have so much information available to you. But it seems like there's an over reliance on it. Instead of just going with the flow going with what feels right going with your gut instinct. Instead of over relying on stats and studies and research and numbers. Human beings. We got souls, human beings. We have intuition, human beings. We have feelings. This is a game of it. This is baseball. Stop taking a soul out of baseball. If you want to see something that still has a little bit of soul, even though it's a cold, heartless business. I want to remind you Sunday, the NFL on CBS features a matchup of two elite teams fighting for division supremacy. The Steelers. They take their defense to Baltimore for battle with Lamar Jackson and Ravens plus a ke A F C showdown between the Bills and the Patriots. You can catch J B and the guys as they get you set for all of the day's action on the NFL Today, it starts noon Eastern non Pacific Sunday. The NFL is on see B s. Let's get back to these phone lines. Bill is calling up from Pittsburgh Bill you on CBS Sports radio. What do you have thoughts on what the game is today? Djorou doing Thanks for taking my call, buddy. Absolutely. Go ahead. We need more people like you out there telling it the way it is. I mean, it's getting ridiculous. It's almost like politics almost like we're watching the debate with Trump and Biden. You know, I mean the pirates or garbage. I mean, we get people and then we trade We're supposed to be good, and I think you're right. It's analytics. But the pirates are looking at the analytics. They're getting rid of people for And I don't know what they're doing. No clue. Yeah, that That was it. Horrible move last night. Terrible. I mean, let him pitch seven minutes. And out of leaks. Yeah, I hear you. I mean, well, I could say about the Pirates. You could blame your owner for just being a cheapskate but across Major League baseball, and and this is this's even for a team playing in a big market and thank you bill for cold enough from Pittsburgh. Like the New York Mets. You know, they have new ownership taking over and and Steve Collins and the Wilpons. I mean, they had to be convinced and pushed and prodded, at least into looking at analytics. So yeah, we still have. Some teams, which are behind eight ball and utilizing resource is Then you have Ah, whole lot of other teams. You know you can't walk straight. I got well, hold on a second. He'd take out my calculator. Do I put my left foot in front of my right foot first? Do I swing my arm forward or back? That's what it seems like. You know when, when the baby's learned howto walk, you just put that little roly Poley out there. See what happens. Carl is calling up from Maryland Carl you on CBS Sports radio. Call your live, my man. What's up? Hey, J. R. How are you doing? A gentleman. I'm good. Go ahead. I'm kind of a half full kind of guy. I am always looking. You know, I accept a change, you know? Thank you. You know, I think somebody has a missing some of the points on some of that stuff on the base. There's still still basis. I still try to hit the ball the other way and all that good stuff for his baseball coach. Um, it's about bets and trout. They moved him up in a line up, so leave those guys and get more of that. That's what I don't have him hidden in three and four. They moved him up because it can steal bases and they have power so they can do. They can do it all. Um, Coach last night. He was in a no win situation. Honestly, I think you made the right move. On the family, and obviously I would have left him in for another inning. But that's what it is a 300 hitter against him and I was going to be his third time up. He was open to win that game that was going to be his third time up. So again, like you said, the averages of this particular where investors favorite maybe get a hit that time the next time up. Not a man. Yeah, but here's the thing. I'm not just talking about last night's game talking about baseball Overall, I understand everything that you just said about making sure that your best hitters can get more at bats and God's still steal bases. This is a simple question for you. Call is the game play the same way today as it was 10 years ago. No, it was the game played the same way It's today 20 years ago. Now, what about 30 years ago? Probably not now, OK, I would venture to tell you and I don't have to be a statistician Understand this. The game is changing at a faster pace than it ever has over the past. Let's say I would give or take. Ah, let's say 70 years. Okay right now, over the past 20 years, the game has changed, and it's going to continue to change and I'm not. I'm not bitchin and wanton and moanin and all. What was me an old man complain an old man cry and why they change in the game? No. Everything in life changes. You know, I don't particularly like what's going on in the N B A. But I accept it. I don't particularly care for everything going on in the NFL, but I accept it. I sure as hell don't appreciate what's going on in Major League baseball, but I accept it. But I also understand that their elements of the game That in a time from never before are being stripped away because of technology because of the ability not just because of what you conduce with Ah pencil and a paper because of what a computer can process faster than a human brain can And that's the difference. That's the key difference. The game is changing, and it's changed in a totally different way. But can I have.

"His colon would have been. So it just goes to prove that you know you can't these owners. They can't worry about how much these guys they're going to spend. The only thing the owners care about now is how high the value of the team is going to pay. Because whatever whatever the message go for high as it goes, every other every other owner benefits from that because of their own franchise values go up, and that's all they are. The owners care about. Now. They don't care about if somebody's going to spend a lot of money. That's not an issue with him anymore. Yeah, and build depending on how the next Ciba works out and whether it does work out or there's a job action or whatever you know, the players are not real happy with this whole luxury tax thing. They consider that a defect those salary cap and you saw the reaction. Tony Clark head when a Rod even mentioned revenue sharing, so you know you're right in terms of an investment to make money. This may not be such a great thing. It's probably not. I mean, but you know, I don't think you know in this case. I think it's more like Steve Collins, a Mets fan, and I guess Six years, guys. They're you know, they're there Sports fans and and you know, the only Devils And they're from my local guys as well. And you know, I don't think Anybody in baseball something in these places like the Mets and some of these really bigger franchises. I don't think they go into the sport looking to make money. I think they would look, they'll make their money when they sell the team. That's really what happens all over baseball because No, it's you know, it's it's hard to make a profit in baseball. As far as you know, when you get the salaries and everything else away. They've become in baseball. Yeah, there's a lot of TV money and everything else like that. But I'd be interested to see what all the owners bottom lines are Faras. I think they make more money on their marketing and their television stuff when they do on attendance. I don't know. The books are closed, and we don't know, but they say, 40% on attendance. We'll see about that switch topics a little bit. You wrote a piece for Baseball Digest magazine about baseball cards. And it's It's a great piece. I recommend that highlight anybody who can get ahold of Baseball Digest. We had Rick Cerone on last hour and tell us a little bit about the evolution of tops. Because to me, tops was always there. They were always the baseball kings, but they were Kind of Johnny Come lately is back in the early fifties, and they actually put toffee and their their their cards instead of gum and it melted all over the cards and made a mess. Tell us about that. That history I was I was a rookie baseball card collector. So I was I was there at the beginning. Of the tops beginning On back in the early fifties of the Bowman company in Philadelphia. They were the primp premiere of Principle Baseball card company. And they dated cards from from. I guess it was like, 47 48 49 50 51 then in 1951. Tops of which is a company in Brooklyn. I know they're still in Brooklyn now, but they were then. They decided the challenge Bowman and they came out with a kind of a very limited card said was kind of like a game game. Cards. They had game things on the back of the cards. And they, but they didn't want to challenge Bowman directly by issuing them with gum because they would have risked a lawsuit so they issued the cars with taffy. And it was a complete disaster. If you can even find those tops cards in 1951 it's hard to find them in any kind of good condition because the taffy melted all over the cards and it was. It was a total disaster. But Tops recovered quickly, and in 1952 they said they threw caution to the wind. And they came out with a 407 card set, which is the largest card said. Uh, to that time other than going way back to the early 19 hundreds, when the cigarette companies will make cards, But this was the largest cards and in modern times. And they issued him with gum. And they just trampled all over Bowman's exclusive contract that they had with the players. And tops just signed over everybody in baseball. And it was a spectacular set and it put tops on the map. And Bowman, of course. Sued, but the one curious thing about this was they didn't sue during the 52 season. They didn't get a judge to get an injunction down the prevent tops from selling these cards. Which is a mystery to today. No one knows why they waited until after the 52 season to start challenging tops on all these contracts, the exclusive contract that they had with the players. These parts were very different than the moment cards right, Bill? They were. They were larger, and they were actual photographs in color, as opposed to the portrait CE that Bowman was doing right? Exactly. Yeah, the Bowman cards were smaller. On day were they were basically paintings of Of the players painted painted over pictures over, however, tops actually used actual photos from 50 to settle with the largest sent in size. Both in the card sides were larger and they used actual photos. They were black and white photos, which they colorized. And it was a spectacular set. I mean, nobody had ever seen anything like this in baseball card industry. But what happened was After the 52 season Bowman suit and there was a huge that began the great props, Bowman Baseball Card War, the fifties and the following in 1953. Both tops and Bowman has limited set. They were both both lost about 100 tops went from 407 Down to 80 End of the 2 87 of those cards were not issued because they were also supposedly in violation of Romans contracts with those players. So from 53 54 55 The two companies went back and forth, fighting with each other and having both having limited card sets you have if you wanted to get your.

"Join us it fans for the cured dot org's back with the Buck Showalter and lots of calls. But just to talk about your experience that unusual day in Baltimore in 2015 after the 1st 2 games were postponed due the riots. And the final game of the series was moved from night. Today You beat the white taxes. I mentioned 82 No fans. Chris Davis. It's a three run home run in the first inning, and you said it sounded like a home run in batting practice before they opened the gates. But but it was amazing how quiet it was book. There was something kind of attractive, though at about the Puritans of the competition. Anybody been in the dugout knows that there's these calm. Sweet nothings better thrown out that maybe the people who dug out from here but the whole world on Brother team and sometimes the umpires can't quite hear. But we found out those sweet nothings couldn't been couldn't be used The whole welcome period. You could hear very thorn and Jim Palmer talk and you could hear the conversation in the in the preference. I may it was It was different. It was different, but I once again I really felt good about our club himself Started T but you were talking about earlier and the discipline. You know, they just had a yeoman like approach to it. It was it was. It was going to watch that point. You had to be careful what you say The guy in the dugout. Ah, Are you the guys on the bench? Because everyone could hear made. You had to be careful about what you said around around the umpires because they could hear everything. You know, they've been talking so much about one of my players up, Bring in the sounds of the game. Well, that's what I've kind of found it Strange when they were putting the crowd murmur. And why, if they didn't do that, the fans could hear everything they were, so it'd be very easy to pick up. Yeah, and he didn't use the bullpen phone that day. I heard Oh, no, I'll do it step to the top and yell. Oh, are you bringing up even if it was easy, but it definitely wasn't something I wanted to continue if you've ever been in extended spring. Structurally. That's what Gulf Coast Lee game. Yes. Oh, yeah. He was Ryan in Bronxville for Buck Showalter and Ed Randall's talking baseball hire Ryan. Thanks for the call. Hey, Thanks for taking my call. Give me the honor to speak to Mr Showalter. Yeah, A big mess You've met and talked was my number one choice for manager. I wanted it so bad I would compare it to when the Rangers occupied brought in my kid and I know I wanted Buck to having Wellard ride through the canyon, the heroes I'm hoping that's so one day you'll be able to do that. I have a question about the ownership of the Mets. So Iran coming out and talking about a salary cap. I thought it was private, unwise move at this time. The negotiations Against Steve Collins and the Wilpons for buying the teeth. How did he start talking about salary have at this time when you know what do you think about that, Mr Walter? Well, it's a subject matter. Hi, Ryan. Thanks for the kind words and I really like the past that the manager for the Mets followed you Look at his background. Police say who I think was a very quality manager. You look at his work has been in the minor leagues, Planets trade. He's done this, but everything you do to prepare your resume for managing the bigwigs. And you know, I looked at my half a long time ago. It reminds me a little bit. I'm impressed with his background and I think he's going to do a good job. I really do met fans. I like the way he You read, so speak on what he presents himself. I'm not going to get into my personal opinions aside for everything. I don't think, Alex. Necessarily minute that way, Something might say, why else would you have taken it? Obviously, Alex to tell you the system was great for him. It was great for him and how But I think the base but he was just kind of pleading not pleading. But asking for, you know, Kind of like what we talked about earlier. How much is enough? You know if I was our players, they haven't asked me I'd be more concerned about a floor that a feeling You know I would give them some type of huge ceiling, but I wouldn't want to bring the floor up. I was with some of these clubs that are so called tanking and playing and playing that 60 $70 million payrolls. Um and really taken revenue sharing in a lot of ways put in their populations there. Federal Getting those people upto safe, $100 million war. No, Let's worry about the floor instead of the cat. That's the way I feel about it. To Elliott in, You know, it's funny. You mention that because I I remember speaking to a union official during our nuclear winner of 94 95 buck and he was talking and he was saying here they want and it was all about establishing a salary cap. But he said, You know what? We don't want a salary cap. But then again, we don't want a floor. We don't want to floor either. Just let one free market let it let it breathe. I think the problem is the competition, and people have seen the benefits of going extra low so that you can kind of refurbished. So to speak. I think so. Most things that can survive maybe They're in cities in America that might be able to present our game better. Who knows? To Ah, Mike and Fresh meadows on Ed Randall's talking baseball on the fan, Mike, Thanks for your call. Thank you. How you guys doing? Big fan and I just like Sorry. I just wanted to address the fan thing. Just to be techie about this. They're piping is like video game noise now, but with an application, they pipe in people's noises as a collective Justus. Fans in the stadium, all the fans at home using an app. Would there sounds could be type in as a collective, which would be I think better, then sake, noise. It would be really people watching the game on TV. The fan noise in their house piped into the stadium as a whole, You know, maybe there's 200,000 fans with the application. Come on. That would be a good way to keep the mo mentum off the fan in the game. Oh, my God. I don't know There's some question about whether or not it's needed at all. Sometimes you like to try with nothing, then go the other way. But I kind of liked the idea like someone suddenly Giancarlo Stanton from people that strike out water are probably going to like it because nobody's gonna boot and I'm one thing you can ask. Rose are the happiest people in America. Yes, they are. I think they're trying to eliminate the fact that somebody is walking through the park with no noise. No trying to play the game, but I know it's like to me. It's like somebody that consciously has to be entertained. You know, I could pull up a chair sit out in the yard. And what's the wind blowing the entertained, But they're in today's world. People have this constant need noise, isn't it stimulated? Yeah. Uh, thanks. Here's a Gary in West tamped in. Hi, Gary. And welcome to the fan. Okay, I did. But Hi..

"On your fan. New York City. Wilpon family is now working out a deal to sell 80% of the franchise to billionaire hedge fund manager Steve Cohen. We interrupt this program to bring you a special report. According to our source, the Mets sail to billionaire Steve Cohen is in jeopardy is a life support back on and that's that's what it's about, but I think we will want to get to know Steve Collins, $12 billion hedge fund. Stacy Capital was at one time said to trade as much as 3% of all the stock that moved on the New York Stock Exchange. You don't get to where I am without tolerating a lot of risk, really come out for us, and we're really great at the end of the season, 10 games over which is very nice, but again, we're not playing October baseball, that's that's what it's about. The elusive billionaire has only given two published interviews. Well, I mean, you know, like Sports Express, Brody and everybody else is not meaningful games in September, but meaningful games are clearly wants to restructure where he can be free from as he puts it, being chained to the desk. "To believe they'd be worse than a will punch. But we never know when you got to believe that anybody's wi with anybody's going to be better. But who knows so until until that person actually owns the team. Such thoughts running the team. We don't know what they're going to go. You know, we all assume that Steve Collins going to spend it on the money he was, You know, he's a met fan and all that, and he's going to spend a lot of money because he's got a lot of money, and he's going to bring the Mets back to being a what they should be a pig market team, you know, in the biggest city in the country. But who knows until we see it? We don't know. Richie Acquaints Ritchie, How are you? So it's always a pleasure you go for it didn't go too far. Dear Joe, I have no home. I've been home. You know, I've been home the whole time admit the Florida's It's spring training. I was down there for spring for a little while and I think that was right before you everything all the stuff hit the fan. That's that's the last time it still hitting a banjo. You know it don't dwell shot in Far Rockaway. Now they're saying the police president has got to be there. And you just wonder like, Well, you know, I don't want to get into neat indeed. But with a fire line, Joe, you know the fine line is the cops have to back off. Send in the next day. The cops have got to be there. The disrespect that's happening right now. It's just tragic deceit. It doesn't seem to be a you know, meeting in the middle, Ritchie all say this about the the thought off de funding the police and what's going on with the police in his country. Right now, surrender is that this grace? Okay. I mean, you know, I don't know how anybody I again I don't I really don't. I don't know how anybody could be fore. You know, de funding the police and and and limiting a police presence in this situations. I just don't understand that So, yeah, really very job because people are going to get along this well going to be the criminal criminal element. It's going to be there. You know? And you? Yes. As faras policing the police. I think, you know, obviously you can't have bad cops that initiated this's records. Three years does. Of course. Guy has 12 citations against him. He shouldn't be a police officer. Put him on desk duty. The unions a very strong girl. A bad cop, Abid teacher, a bad doctor. It seems like a rich dad and everything. Let's be honest, I mean, is no matter what walk of where if it is there's bad people in those walks of life, and obviously you're the cops, but that's a very low percentage of that yet we manage Y Yes, it is. Well, you know when you see what's going on in New York City right now, because it is the funding of the police. It's it's beyond disgraceful like I can. Can I say I said it, I agree with you. Real quick. A couple of things. The Adams thing, Joe. I told you my feeling about it. I just don't like when somebody comes bigger than that. I just think you know, I think about Becca, my guy, you've got to sign them. Gave him all the money and he had an issue in New York, and he wants to know about this guy's not pick up. He's not the same kind of guys back up is no. No. He's a hobbit. Beckham plays hard to Joe, you know, and but I just think I don't know what what? What's going to make Adam's content. I don't know what I'd be where he feels like eight teams going in the right direction. If it doesn't I'm going to keep sounding off. But yes, he is an impact player. It was for us to golf this week. I mean, every tournament has been phenomenal, often on the CD. Shit. Yeah, these young kids mark our wolf. You see Victor Goblin to having those three right shambo hitting aboard 390 years And just in town is Joe. I mean, it comes down to like Yeah, You got to make a party. He had like three different chances and his dad on the sidelines cringing on every play, but he makes that crazy 50 foot flood. In the play on the kid and the kid comes back with a young five. Yep, Yeah, I mean, it's great to watch. You know you do miss at that particular time you do, Mr Roy. The crowd, you know, that would be there. But we don't know when you're watching it. You know it. You know, you and I become friends or whatever. You're so intent that you're just looking at the plate, a golfer. And at that point to see good golf. It's been great. I think this tournament should be terrific. Dustin Johnson hitting fairways and putting I take is going to be a definite president and, you know As much as and when Tigers back. It just adds so much. I mean, you know, I don't think she'll fan, but the tiger at this point is gone past me, and I think if he's back in this tournament I think he's going to make. It's going to make some noise. Go. Yeah, I look. I mean, it's a different world with tigers playing, you know, it's interesting with Phil. We had that tournament. What was it two travelers when he when he had a real good the 1st 2 rounds? He was terrific. I think it was. Yeah, it was right away. We're going into the third round. I think he was like 13 on the And then he played over Paul, often around for the weekend. Fill you and again that has to do again with his missing a fair ways. He is 40 years 50 years old now, so you know, you wonder right? Hard to believe that he's 50 days. There's somebody young guys like everything smell cow, You know, great swing. You think maybe he'll be dominant? And I didn't realize to Justin Thomas. Good. I would have been his 13 PJ languages, 27 would have been right up there with Tiger and Jack. It's amazing. You know, we talk about speed all the time. Richie. It's amazing out. Justin Thomas has gone right by Jordan speed. I mean, he's a much better way and out. It's pizza is much better, absolutely assed major as the PG and on the other guy that's for gotten Joanne and you know we talk about speakers, Fowler I know, fella. You know they're looking for some positives with him that he had a good round, but it seems like a 31 years old. He's kind of going back way back in the pack, you know, so These young guys every week. Is somebody up there that It couldn't you know, make out, So tell me this, Richard, could you watch like I do? Ricky Fowler seems to me to be the kind of guy that he plays great when the pressure's not on And then when the money's on the line, he doesn't get it done. I've been saying that for years, so Yeah, well, the people tell me, they say they tell me Come on. You know you make a lot of my time. That doesn't make it right with his commercials, the guys down the richest confidence game, But that's beside the point when you're competitive, and I think he is I said, You're not thinking about your money when you know you've got a 10 foot putt, maybe to win a tournament and I do think I think the pressure gets to him. I I don't think he's a very good pressure place because all I hear is the top four partners in the game. And I see it makes him atrocious putts. And, you know, is that his nerves? Oh, you know, what is it if you're real good at that, you know, and that's your game. You've got to be able to play like that. So There's no part of it. How's your game going, Joe? You've been playing a lot. I mean, playing a lot of getting better. There's no doubt about it. You know, I still still a little too were consistent. I think off the tee. You have days when I'm real good. And I have days when I'm not so good. My pudding has got you by my fireplace got a lot better, but I mean, playing a lot, So I mean, if I'm not getting better playing as much as I am, I shouldn't be playing. You know, Rich. You must love it. 90. I love what I hear you're doing well, I know you do. But, you know, the other thing is you playing from the senior team? I play from the CDs. I don't kid. Anybody. You know what rich? I want to be ableto. I mean, look, I can't play for 150 yards, Paul Force. I got no shot, and I have no shot. I could hit the two best shots like I could ever have. And I'd still be you know, 75 yards away from the green. I'm not getting there, Tonto to score some all's right or wrong. I mean, my kid. Yeah, I'm 72. So I've been playing the senior teacher about three years now, and about three years ago, I had a back issue and my driver I hit florins. He and I are going to be key, and I hated to 10. Well, so but and I'm always straight, but I do miss defect. That, you know, I'm not able to hit that driver because I used to hit my driver to 50 but right on my end this game with it with Xena teas and I'm 3 70 out. I'm in it to 10. I'm still on 50 and I get there into so But I do miss today. And if the kind of games do you know how it is, You've got to make adjustments all the time. You had a great ti.

"A jolt last week can't be inside a one year deal. Time out. Let me just go back to the last thing I interrupt, You know, that's what makes the baseball season actually fun this year, even though I am so fed up with baseball, I'm annoying man, Fred. I'm annoyed, but Tony Clark There's a lot of unknown about this baseball season and yes, they have to get the games and that's number one. That's the biggest unknown. Even look at the A L. I expect Yankees in the Astros could ask before the gets the LCS Yankees in the Astros. All it takes three for bad weeks from the Yankees of the Astors. They're slow start. Big injury to apply or two It could be right out of the race. Couldn't agree. More than the ultra marathon is now. A spread like you said, you get off to a hot start. You have to cold start teams that we think they never shot or teams that we think are going to be legit. Like you said Two weeks of rough to ex stretches was that you know what you said the magic. See? See what You know, he said the metal I could. You saw a report? About 30 minutes ago. You see this report? About Steve Cohen combat. You saw that report that Steve Collins, making another big push by the Mets from the New York Post? And Ryan. Traci Key started popping champagne at 3 45 Hudson Street right now, with no one around, maybe sipping a little champagne and you got excited about that thought of big Stevie Cohen buying the match, he said. Why not screw Mets gonna go the World Series this year? You know, I'm by? Yes, that's it. I'm just riding the wave of momentum. Steve Cohen. The baseball schedule gets released. I am just I'm just pushing my chips all into the center here. I think you're the only person excited for the baseball schedule coming out. It's been no reaction about this nun in classic will be fashion. I think a lot of attention been on Patrick Homes and, of course, yes, like in the time and nothing's going on to any sports star gets a ton of news. You said that you think the baseball schedule get some news? No, of course it comes out hours after Patrick Holmes gets well, only that the massive deal They told us this morning that the schedule was coming out. We knew Eventually the schedule was coming. But they had that released this morning that Oh, yeah. The schedule is going to come out tonight. What did you hide that up a little bit. Baseball. I mean, as you know, baseball on marketing don't go well together. Let's just say that think about this logically. I get that there's no big events going on right now. You're coming off a holiday weekend. Why don't you have thought, though? Wednesday. Let's release this on a Wednesday And try to dominate the conversation Wednesday night lead into Thursday. Maybe another thought on a Friday and then everyone goes off on another weekend. Wouldn't you thought that instead of dumping her on Monday, where People, I guess you two get back into the office or get back behind their phones and And news can potentially come down. I think they could. In theory. If this Mahomes news in drop could have dragged it out from us a week. Right. You're kind of you're slow again back to come off a hottie. We could talk about the crocodile scheduled for a week a week. And what else is there to talk about? And hockey comes down with the news today as well, that they gave me a data when they're going to return. Not that Baseball is getting you served by hockey, but Had three big news stories today. The biggest being Mahomes. You got a date when hockey's coming back and in the baseball schedule came out. Zero buzz about the baseball schedule. I will say this, though outside of the NFL schedule, Does anyone really care about any other major sports schedule? Getting released outside of like I know you like many games, right, So it's like Except this year when you had to return to basketball people cared about those eight games. People. Really, though. Did you watch that? That schedule release I was on the air, but the thing I looked at was Pelican getting such an easy schedule. And that annoyed a lot of people now the pelicans their strength of schedule, depending on what you looked. That was very easy down. The stretch league did pause, but that didn't work the way for every other team. There was no more excitement about the basketball schedule. Coming back. Baseball schedule comes out I get it's only 60 games and there could be some or excitement. Have you heard a pin drop about this this evening?.

And my goodness, My life is a sports day, August Miss those days and I haven't like wall to Wall games to talk about. I'm in. Whenever I like. Sit down to write the memoir, which will be like 40 years from now, God willing Put it out, right? You know what? The end I'll be right. A chat about these days, so, baby The pandemic months. What, 2020 Chapter. I think in all of our books we like Tio White boy on a woman that category, but it's there, so I'll be telling. I'm doing an interview with Syracuse radio radio students tomorrow. I'm gonna tell you right now you do radio this time to do radio anytime. Anyplace anywhere. Oh, my goodness. Said how New Jersey Sammy up next He joins us. He's on a famine stuff. Sammy. Hey, how you doing? J. J man. Thanks for taking my call today. Just got a Good question. I'm very pumped a met fan about the baseball season coming up, but I got jumped in the back of my mind. I wanted to ask you Um I want to see if you have any update on the Mets. Kind of sale going on. And if you do have any updates right now to get a gun to your head? Between the Blitzer group going Which they already into sports franchise ownership to some degree. Are you more confident, then tow lead The mat since the future versus the group headed by J. Lo, A Rod. And I forget off top had another guy's name. But how confident are you? Are are you between both groups, But Well, if you're gonna ask me right now, what group would I want to buy the Met Steve Collins. Because he is a lifelong method and he has a ton of money. He's the character that was The inspiration in many ways for Bobby Axelrod show. I watch billions on Showtime and I do well. Great show Sammy. I love acts as a character is badass. I mean, I love everything about it on the takes no prisoners. Holds no punches dominates every which way. That's the sort of guy I'd want running my franchise one. You know, they all think I'm cool with the A Rod jailer group. I'm not going to fight the Mets. If they end up, you know, going in that direction. And I think most people, Sammy would tell you no matter who it is. They will taken ownership changed over the current situation, No matter who it's going to be. And so do you think it's calling? Do you think that he's going to make a splash right away? Because I know right now the Wilpons and not very you can say, friendly towards giving him the team or even negotiating. Going to the table, obviously, after what happened in February. I mean, what do you say about that? Oh, Sammy, I agree. I do not think you will see Steve Cohen by this team. Because I think the Mets would feel and the Wilpons more specifically would feel far more comfortable selling to someone else. I think Major League baseball Would feel for more comfortable. He's selling to someone else. But Lord a point now where? I don't know if it's a couple months from now, a year from now. Two years from now. We will be living in a world God willing, of course, in which the medics and all upon sell this thing like I think it's inevitable. From the failed sail from a couple of months ago to the economic ramifications of what's happened here Post pandemic, the mezzo selling this team And hold up has always been what to do with us. And why. It sure seems like they're now willing TTO include that into the proceedings, so What happened? So A natural $1,000,000 question. 7 38 Here on this Monday evening. We got a whole lot more to do. Get aboard, keeping coming at 877337 66 66 not the least bit surprised with Jamal Adams, because guess what if you have followed the way he has handled himself on social media over the last couple weeks? It'd be like wow like I'm definitely better than this person so I knew I could do it and then I really wanted to to make the leap and actually give it up. Give it a shot. I'm happy I did and now you're very successful. Doing Videos for sports illustrated about sports betting. And obviously you better you bet show on the radio DOT COM APP. So what is your background in betting? Like how long have you been betting before we dive at? Because I haven't seen your tweets about Korean baseball so before we dive into that. How did the whole betting thing happened? Well it was my senior year of college. I've been a lifelong like die. Hard sports fan so I always been super into sports. And then once I kinda betting got introduced into my life and into the lives of our friends. Like one of my budget's was you know my senior year of college. Two thousand four two thousand and four. Like you know I've got. This is operatives sheet or whatever like we can bet on games like we didn't know what the hell we were doing like. I think I lost harbinger of things to come. I think I lost my first like ten eleven. That's like he was unbelievable. Streak like we did not know what we were doing. And there was one that really stands out. Oklahoma Played Oklahoma Oklahoma State Was I want to say Oklahoma? State was ranked team on Road at Oklahoma. Oklahoma was unranked and Oklahoma state. I think was like a or Oklahoma was thirty one point. I'm David there were home. Underdog and we were like Wow Oklahoma state's ranked in Oklahoma is. Let's put a lot of money on Oklahoma state and of course Oklahoma and blowing the map because like when you have ranked underdog that generally a pretty decent pets. That's one that's always stuck out to me and from there to like love affair with it because it really amplifies like experience here now. I'm not saying to people who go. Gamble or means or anything like that. But I mean you couple shekels down. Like pirates brewers game that's otherwise innocuous middle of June that turns into game seven of the world series so really been a love affair with me for gambling now for over fifteen years now basically since two thousand and four all right so let's talk about what the last almost two months have been for. You have been like for you now as well as your long held passion for Korean baseball. Okay well the Korean baseball thing. It's just like nothing to gamble on something to do something. Have some action on like I am not like diving deep in and like Andy Capping these Games. So far think I'm up on dollar betting on carenvale's literally of a dollar on Korean baseball for couple of days here just something to do and I stayed up the other night and I actually watched most of that first game which started with the rain. The Lakers two thousand twenty sucks. And it's the absolute worst but the last two ones have been you know it's been panel like a kind of nights in one respect and like I don. I don't WanNa like make. It seem like there's any real silver lining in this because there isn't to try and fabricate once like it's kind of Nice to get a little bit of a break I've Kinda you know I've got outside interests in my life like I always say that like Yukon sucks because doesn't suck 'cause I love sports but sports like dominates such an believable degree like even without sports fattening even without this being my job like this always been what I've been into like it's always been what I've done like people ask me all like what are you watch on television. What shows do you watch? But I don't really watch shows like I watch sports. I watch a couple shows but like for the most part. It's really just Ford so it's really been over the course of these these last couple months. It's been been listening to music. I had never listened to. I've been watching a lot of movies that I've always wanted to watch. Try to watch. Tv shows that that I've ever watched wanted to and just trying to find inspiration in different places. I Garden and get my new place. These are all things that I never would have done before that. I'm trying to take advantage of with the time right now and do it because the sports stuff like. I know so much about this stuff already and I don't say that's braggadocious like Ross. You've known for a long time like Steve. This is our first conversation. But I mean like I'll be able to drop right in. Sports comes back and I'll be raring to go on and there's no doubt about that so I'm really trying to take time and just try trying editor my life in other ways explore some other passions. Steve I want to bring you in here on a specific question that I think we've talked about before so the differences right is that nick has a really successful media career and gambles on the side but isn't necessarily making his living from betting on sports. It's just you know part of what he talks about etc whereas Steve. Your your primary income is on what you win from from bedding. So would you ever bet steve because you are itching to bet something like Korean baseball like it's a big part of the entertainment value and that's what Nick just explained or unless you are confident or believe that you have an edge. Do you shy away. Oh I shy away now. I May. Well say I'M GOING TO HANDICAP KOREAN BASEBALL? Because it's the only game in town and to make money that way but the idea of If you're I get it recreationally better. It's fun to put a bed on cream based upon. I'm not saying that that's not a fun thing to do. But for me it's all about making money and because of that I'm like the worst guy you can imagine to be in the casino with because if you try to slot machine or play craps or play Roulette. I'm just like what are you doing? It's like there's ways to win in this casino. Why would you go to wheel? Let's go to the poker room so I'm a serious drag when it comes to recreational gambling Ross and for you it's interesting we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA dive into this a little bit but for you. It's really all math right. I mean because you know when we make the picks every week and I had a really good year you to solid year. I'm doing it based on what I know about the teams I think's going to happen. You like everything you do. Is it fair to say is primarily based on math? In the odds. And that's like y you would never bet like a MVP bet or a super bowl. Futures Bet Etcetera. Well I hate to say never because there are times. I'll rarely make bets like that but the reason is that the math in these pools for these futures. We spoken about that. The House vigors is so high that it's hard to find good mathematical bets. Having said that when you're handicapping sports you need to. It's not just pure math in the sense that you're parameters you have to go ahead and assess how players are going to react in certain situations and that's part of the math so if the Miami dolphins are completely unhappy with what's going on at the beginning of the year and they're playing Baltimore or New England I start the year. You've got to go ahead and say it's not just the players on the field but sometimes it's the attitude of the players certainly. That's part of the mathematical equation of setting a line. So and then nick on your end like I know you like the idea of Jerry Judy as offensive rookie of the year in the NFL. You look at it and see. There's a pretty big number there you know. It's a long shot. Because there's Joe Borough and the Andrea swift and all these other guys but you take in some long shots you know. The math might not be in your favor. But you think that. There's a chance judy has it. And it'd be a big hit for you if he gets. It only look like rationale by the Judy could pick like. It's not definitely that he's going to but I think there's a strong case to be made that there are some. There's some value there jerry. Judy but like and I fully respect. You know Steve's approach to everything and Steve. You know you're doing for a living and I think if I were doing this for living I would probably be a lot more conservative as well. I don't think it's anything wrong with that. That's actually that's really smart coming at it from my angle. This what I said you know like. I think. I'm a pretty decent Andy CAPP and I think I'm a pretty decent gambler. Like I do recreationally so I'm not necessarily like like it's not life or death whether I whether I win these because I have. I make a good living in in the media so we cook the differently where some of this is for content. Right where it's like. I gotta ask questions like this. We do an interview like this. Like it's not GONNA it's not. GonNa be entertaining if you know someone asked me. What would you like? Well I don't because like I don't have to be able to come up with something. So era like you come up with something like Jerry. Judy offensive of the year where it becomes a point over the course of the year. So let's say I bet on Jerry. Judy and I say it on you better. You Bet and it's my favorite futures which are won't people just say. It is the purpose of this conversation and Jerry Week. One for the broncos goes you know two targets one reception seven yards. Now that's talking points on the show where it's like it just everything turns into everything's content and I think that's kind of the difference in the way it gets approached between a gambler and then someone in the media like me. I admit you know fulltime job. It's not an entertainer first and foremost where everything is kind of content and content supersedes everything. So what's most important is.

Oklahoma Steve Collins Jerry Judy baseball Nick Ross NFL Green Bay Wisconsin Boston New York giants edge Khan Academy Jerry Ford Lakers manning broncos VP Jerry Week

"Seventy two that is Steve Collins new hedge fund, which employs about fourteen hundred people and manages about thirteen billion dollars point, seventy two asset management was converted into a hedge fund in twenty fourteen and last year it reopened to external investors. Matthew comes to us, by way of Bridgewater associates domino, data lab. And he got his both undergraduate and graduate MBA at Harvard Business School where at undergraduate he was the president of the Harvard. Crimson Matthew grenade. Welcome to Bloomberg. Thank you for having. So let's start. Let's start with the most unusual thing on your resume. You president of the Harvard crimson. Not exactly hotbed of future. Your hedge funds officers. How did that come about? What was that experience like? Well, couple of things in terms of that experience running a newspaper is one of the most amazing things in the world. And I got to run a small one at Harvard. But I, you know, I think it's just an incredible job. Because you're in the middle of so much information, you're helping shape the debate you're investigating things. So many interesting people Harvard's an awesome place to do that at. And so there are few jobs that I've loved as much as I love that one is incredible. How you get that job? A couple of things one. There's a bit of a path. So generally is a news person reporter. So I was a reporter for my first couple of years, and then I was the head of the central. What's called the central administration? Beat that covers the president of the university. Also, kind of a traditional steppingstone, then there's a process called the Turkey shoot. Shoot runs for about a month leading up to thanksgiving where they pick the next president all sorts of sort of arcane rules, but the probably the most interesting is that every outgoing member of the paper gets to vote and if more than three disagree, you're blackballed. And so you really hold in sort of in sort of in veto mode for as long as that goes inside the deliberations generally run about sixteen eighteen hours straight whites with exactly and then there's a big party in whatever sort of wants, the unlocking happens. But I had I think six or seven opponents for the job. And you know, you have to. Politics politics. A little message a little of this. And that's that's how it works. But it was a mazing opportunity. So that's an unusual background as a journalist and someone who's publishing the paper to really being a data scientist for a financial services shop how did that career path unwind? Well, the probably more similar than you think. As I mean, a lot of it comes down to information collecting information formation. And so, you know, I've always been someone who likes to know what's going on notes going on the world. I like to be ahead of other people in knowing things. And so that's the that's the similarity, but the, but the career arc was I went from from college to MacKenzie was a business analyst there, and then went to business school like you mentioned, and then ended up at Bridgewater. And which is also a fascinating place is a fascinating place. So I was there for six years, and it's a phenomenal place to work. I'm a big fan of Ray Dallaglio. I find his philosophy. Just totally intriguing. I think Bridgewater kind of gets a bad rap. People of cold a Caulton of criticized the radical transparency use survived there for six years. Can't be all bad. Right. How to be pretty good? No. It's not all bad at all. In fact, I think it's one as investors go there. There's good as. Gets and just phenomenal at it. And look, I think the differences of the culture there get overstated meaning the radical transparency like how different it is. You know, look, I mean like, I would say everywhere I've ever worked McKinsey point, seventy two domino Bridgewater. They've all been ambitious people who are trying to get to the right answer who wanted to do great things, and you know, at core. Like, that's that's a lot of what Bridgewater is about. And Ray and the team there are very thoughtful about ways to. Just sort of apply. Certain ideas, like you want you always want to make sure you're getting the best opinions. Right. And so they are very explicit about who. Should you? Listen to about things. But you know, I see I see Steve asked that question all the time. You know, why am I listening to you? You know, I should be listening to this person. Instead. And so I think Bridgewater is great it's sort of scaling it. But, but, but I think that the ideas are are not not quite as radical as the media would want you to believe the transparency is just great. I mean, I love the idea. Like, he's very clean place to live, and the reasons are very clean place to live at Bridgewater. Is you just don't say things behind people's back just say things to their face? And you're searching he writes about that in his first book in chapter where he describes raise people problem. I mean, most founders and chairman don't spend the chapter describing their own people person that's fairly transparent. Yeah. I mean, I think that's fairly transparent. And that's just how you're expected operate. You know, I mean, if you're going to say something about Ray, you say it to him, and and I've many stories of of of saying things that I think people would find sorrows ING are fine. There's they were me being honest and him and trying to sort of work out differences. But the only rule was just say it behind his back. And that's you know, it's interesting that's considered so radical it's not that radical. So now, let's let's take this phone you'll end up at at point seventy to your. Title is chief market intelligence officer. I never even seen. I as a abbreviation. What does a CMO do that title was the title? I had when I got there, and I was really focused at that point on proprietary research. And so what what we mean by that is how do we take data sets or surveys or web scraping or sort of all the different things, you can do and make that useful to our portfolio managers and analysts since then my job's evolved to include a couple of other things. So I also oversee our central book at this point, which is sort of a systematic best ADS book we have now. So venture capital. And we just haven't really changed the title quite fascinating coming up. We continue our conversation with Matthew grenade, chief market intelligence officer, and so much more at point.

"This station the show sponsors. Welcome back. Great to be here. Thanks for being with us. We sure do appreciate it. We are going to get back to phones we've got a full board. If you want to get your questions up on Facebook. You can do that as well. Let me go to Ron Ron's calling us from Virginia. Hey, ron. Good morning. Good morning. I'm looking for a place or the alternative to the money market account in the brokerage. Okay. Okay. We need to pull the trigger on on the twenty what you would recommend it in the by Lynch. Yes, sir. Not this week you put it on. And I wonder if there's any difference between the two that would make sure the other. Well, here's the difference. So the first one C twenty in strictly a money market account. So it is is just going to be a an account that is going to earn. Whatever I don't even know what it owns maybe three maybe three tenths of one percent. What is it like to point eight? I think something like that it is. And I'm thinking of the wrong. I got the wrong. I got the wrong on my eight. If it's been over two percent. Oh, are you talking about the one? I just put on this week. That the. The other one originally I was considering. He twenty. Yeah. The very first one, and you said that's paying two percent. Well, maybe I was looking at it wrong, man. If that's paying two percent. I mean, maybe it is. I'm not saying it's. I mean, that's one of those cash position. You said looked like it would be a good one or your cash. Yeah. Well, all of those are I mean is that got him noted there. If you read the comments on those funds, you know, I say the same thing on all of them. They have a little bit of risk. So you could have risk of loss, and they have low income you noticed. I don't know if you noticed this Ron, but they were highlighted in blue you noticed I took that away this week. Oh, no. I didn't. Yeah. So they're they're not highlighted in blue anymore. But it's okay. The only reason I didn't because I found that people were thinking it was highlighted in blue without even looking reading the comments that have been there that says low income they were putting all their income, which is not a bad thing. You can't get hurt by doing that. It's just that it is very low income. So instead of blue I just said, you know, it's still an income producing and it is a somewhat of a cash alternative, I call this cash with some risk Kashmir some risks. So either one of those are are growing beam better a annual return standpoint, then if you just left it in the Bank in a money market account either. One of those one is enormously. Protected fund. So if looks like which it could happen does it look like it. But if inflation starts going up, then the return on that's going to go up as well. Get a little bit better. So it's an it's filled with government inflation protected bonds. So it's it's a little bit of a different take on it. The other one is strictly a money market account. I personally in my IRA Ginnie Mae fund I make change that at the end of this year. I'll see what happens may want to start to change that. 'cause that's probably got little bit more risk than I would want for my cash because it's got a lot of mortgage backed securities in it. But nonetheless, I mean, so just look I would look at the returns all of them are going to be about the same. They have a little bit of risk. They have low low volatility, but some volatility and low income. Okay. All right. Ron. Thank you. I appreciate it. Eight four four seven zero seven fifty five thirty three. Let me go to Steve Steve Collins from Arkansas. Hi, steve. Good morning. Good morning. I had a question for you. Okay. I. Just recently. Lurked with a bigger company. So we have the option now with four one K two. No, you don't want to do or move it into the the new I on a. I've been up to the new Kate borders option to move to a or a rock act, right? I don't have a clue what I could do with that. And I'm wondering I don't I'm not a member yet. I don't have any other investments. I don't have any actor. But I'm wondering if you have on your website. And what you do. I don't know what they're back to them. What you invested? I don't know if you keep it in that forever. Or if you should. Sure, are you are you contributing to it on a regular basis. Contributing as much as possible, and I have about twenty minute. Up forty seven years old, and how do they match I would've work forever? They match up to eighty percent. Okay. So yeah, I mean, so I'm not.

"So it's gonna be busy. February is your dad around. Or did he stay around long enough to see you have success in your second career? No, he didn't say round lineup. And I I wish that he had been out that way my mother was for quite a bit. And she wasn't really close to me. So I build a duplex. He lived on the others, really. And but she passed away last year. But then I took really good care of her. And she she has very good life. What other fighters did you train up along the way like a virtual Virgil, James Toney, Steve Collins lights out Tony man that do guy. Wait was I but see I couldn't imagine trying to train James Toney. I saw Jamestown fight at the Olympic auditorium. When they reopened the Olympic auditorium. Think Taylor Hoya fought on that card. Jose you were in. Tony scorn, Tony fought at middleweight is moved his way up to heavyweight didn't give taller. So you can probably do the math on that. Tony was a guy. And you you tell me, well, I'll make this observation you tell me what you think Tony was gifted physical guy. And he he was slick and he knew. Slick is can do things. Don't evolve that much movement, and you can avoid being hit slick is used her shoulders to block punches. So you don't have to have your hands up. You don't have to be up on your bike running around and all that stuff. So he could stay in front of you smoke, the gar sandwich and kind of kind of be slick like Rolla shoulders, take the punches off the shoulders. And so what happens is when that guy starts putting on weight. He just goes. I'm just gonna fight a way deficient because he's slick as like in the climbed way title, and he did win at one time against journalese trained him at like one fifty five one six what was the lightest? He sixty one sixty and what was the heaviest he fought to ten. Yeah. If he if James maybe a little discipline in his life. He probably could have been maybe one of the greatest of all time. He was really he was really slick he was guy. But I remember out of in Holly field. I mean, James only was supposed to really do that James lights out. Tony is a great character. Amazingly, gifted amazingly could have been one of the best of all time. But once again had all this ability. So, you know, training sucks. You can if you can win in a void training, his heart some guys trained getting up at five AM into a row work stuff, and you can still win. Then you can do it. That's what he did. But you won't be the best of all time. Of course is who is the most gifted guy. And then a guy like pack Yao has has a crazy work ethic is where is he on the talent scale tell he's. He's he's he's pretty high up there. He does have talent. But he's he's not really sleek fighter. What was a you'll never see them. Roll the shoulder and his his offense. His his offense is defense. He's is speed in his his punching power is really great for a small person. So let's say James Toney. Let's just give them a ten and ability and three and a half and work affect. Yes. Let's give Manny Pacquiao a ten and work ethic. And what inability I always say about a five thing is so, but what you do then you combine the two scores, and he has a fifteen James Toney has thirteen and a half. And that's why the fifteen yes. When that's how that's how that's how trainers become training of the year because you guys like that. So four times, I had been pack three tens I Jame Sony. Right. Who who is who is the most? Talented or the most skilled fighter you have ever. Either worked with or seen or even seen film of from back in the day light. You know, Michael Moore was really really good heavyweight any move to heavyweight. He was a really slick. Good fighter. Well, rounded and knew the game. Very very well. I always thought he would go into training someday. Because he was set he has so much information, and he was really good to be but his work ethic. Now, you know, it's weird from each Joe Hipp..

James Toney Tony scorn Olympic auditorium Tony Joe Hipp Manny Pacquiao Taylor Hoya Michael Moore Jamestown Jose journalese Holly field Yao Steve Collins Virgil Sony
