New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo faces growing calls to resign

"For Governor Andrew Cuomo to step down as the governor of the state of New York or raising our getting to a fever pitch. As more allegations continue to come to light. Now, six women have accused him of input inappropriate behavior. And the State Assembly has actually more Democrats and Republicans more than 60 Democrats calling for him to step down. Is the average New Yorker. Think about this. Let's talk to Steve Casting bomb is a veteran New York journalist and a host of the new podcast called New York Gritty. You could follow him on Twitter at S cast in bomb. Listen to the New York gritty podcast on the I Heart radio app or and why gritty com Gorgeous Steve, Thanks for joining us. My pleasure. Thanks for having me. All right. Tell us about this. Now that the day I saw that married de Blasio really went after Governor Cuomo again. They don't like each other. That's obvious, but he was really hard at him yesterday, didn't he? Yeah. The mayor of New York City just flatly called for the governor to resign now, which is the furthest he's gone. And as you correctly stated, there is no love lost between the mayor of New York and Governor Cuomo. They've long butted heads. We saw that. Come to a head at the start of the pandemic. When married. Blasio wanted Torto issue a shelter in place order, and the governor said. I'm the only one who cannot issue in a shelter in place order, So you know they have not gotten along. They haven't seen I die for a long time. But this is the furthest the mayor has gone and he joins other high ranking Democrats in the state who are now calling for the governor to resign. Yesterday, the Democratic speaker of the State Assembly announced that they were launching in an impeachment investigation. Not an impeachment trial, yet they're starting an investigation. And that this would run parallel to the attorney general's independent criminal investigation. See. What do you think the average guy in the street thinks about all this? I think it's I think most people are disturbed by this for sure. I mean the latest allegation coming from a source close to an aide of the governor on down that person claims that the governor put his hand beneath her blouse and probably her. But there weren't more details about Whether his hand was on her back on her son, But he's supposedly did this in the governor's mansion when they were in a room alone together. According to the allegation, You know, you know, this governor has long had a reputation of being someone who ruled. The capital with an iron fist, and he often steamrolls over people on created a lot of enemies. The process on does sometimes been called the bully. Some ex employees of his administration have said that he created a toxic work environment. So you know, there's there's long been stories about the governor. There was corruption issues be Moreland Commission, which was investigating corruption ended with the indictment and conviction of a close aide to Governor Cuomo. And then he shut down the more than commission after touched his office. So you know, there's a lot of history there. And then, of course, already the stories about the, uh the cover up of the number of death coronavirus amongst the people who had been residing in nursing homes, so he's got a lot of trouble that's been following him around over the years. It seems to have You know, come to a head, but I don't think anyone saw these. These, you know, sexual harassment allegations coming. There were so many other things plaguing Cuomo over the years. This sort of came out of nowhere. To use the process for impeachment, the same as it is for the United States. For a present, for example, is it a vote of one part of the assembly and then a vote by the other to convict after a trial? They would need to be. Ah, just a simple majority in order to impeach him. But first, there would have to be an investigation, and now they have the power. The Judiciary Committee has the power to subpoena witnesses here and look at all of the evidence to gather evidence and examine it first veracity on again. This is happening simultaneously alongside the Attorney general's independent investigation. She hired a couple of other criminal investigators recently T o do this on so that you know there. There's a a two pronged front. As these allegations are examined on D evidence has looked at so right now They're six women who have leveled claims against the governor. But I don't think at this point that that anyone would be surprised given how this has gone in recent days. If more women now feel Comfortable coming forward,

I and he's well known well like here and the people is is it something that many people never thought that he could do here a couple weeks ago we went to the position of the poll and now he's going to South Carolina with a lot of a bit behind you meanwhile lose bid warrant that she you can break into the double digits which is really disappointing for her campaign here considering you know she the senator from neighboring Massachusetts she's well known here but it seems like Bernie Sanders just you know we'll talk all the oxygen out of the room when it when it comes to be the laughter and then people who occupied that lane that that there's there seems to be maybe only enough room for one candidate in in that in that part of this election is there really isn't much help to explain why she called so far behind here in New Hampshire although many of her supporters even she have suggested that maybe there's some sex isn't to that and it's something that certainly going to be looked at you know the fact that she's a woman and and has not been doing well even though she basically is inspiring to achieve the same things that Bernie Sanders is championing in his campaign you know we love talking to people that like you that are actually there because you can get into the mood of of the actual primary voter and I got all I have to say is two words Joe Biden yeah I've gone here I went a couple of the vent and the the energy level compared to the other candidates no matter what those candidates for calling with drastically different I mean you know he he would go into these no rambling stories and and go off on tangents and and the last one I went to almost twenty minutes went by without a creative applause as he was running down a litany of complaints about the current situation at all connecting one thing to another and and and listing everything here under the Obama administration that in the act and went on and on and on it if the if the energy level just wasn't there I it was it was a noticeable difference in the other campaigns and so is Ventolin very long if you could talk about how you gonna get trouble for going on and on it if you watch them from beginning to end you saw people starting leave before was over so that's not a good that's not a good look for can't yeah you know you mentions South Carolina Steve a moment ago the mole men some they was supposed to be and by his favor that's where it was going to be gained as they move into South Carolina and and and through the south because at one point he had very strong African American support some of the later polls show that support is falling off very quickly it is there I mean is there any insight from the Biden campaign as to where they focus now because we were looking at you know the focus is going to be Nevada it does he go to South Carolina and trying to rebuild that support in the south any word from the campaign at all on their next move I think it will start hearing a little bit more in in that regard tomorrow you know surprised that he called out here when you get I didn't get to hear what he had the safety of the video hookup let's watch party here but it you know company we definitely want to hear tomorrow what is what are they going to do where they going here it's yeah we did hear a couple of the candidates that talk in terms of the debate divisive aspects of of some of the campaign and all those terms are being talked about in relation to Bernie Sanders really at that one is good at church we also heard I worked with Warren talk a little bit about that and and the need for unity and I think that's where the focus here you know there are some who are are a part of the Democratic Party who are a little concerned about a few candidates sorry each other up and that obey her going down the road general election

"Almost almost all all of of the the vote vote has has been been counted counted in New Hampshire and it appears the top three are Bernie Sanders he booted Jagga judge and there's apparently some clementa him with any clover shar bursting out of the pack to come in at number three let us begin with Bob Constantini covering Sanders the centrist took the stage here to claim victory after a couple of TV networks declared him the winner the people of the hand so for a great victory tonight with instructables counted at least to Hampshire was nothing like the drawn out Iowa caucus controversy even a small margin win is a win something the Sanders couldn't quite claim out of Iowa we will see Donald Trump Bernie Sanders was expected to win here but it was much closer than anticipated after Nevada and South Carolina it's on to super Tuesday this is a movement from close to call the results could be a mixed bag for Bernie Sanders listen to me reporting from Manchester New Hampshire meanwhile Steve cast and bombs in Nashua with P. bourgeois ge Michael a few weeks ago many of the people in this gymnasium at national community college never would've imagined they'd be in this position just was among them thank you everyone who gave him a chance so many of you turned out are Democrats independents unwilling to stay on the sidewalk on the sidelines and even some newly former Republican pres Sanders and said he had admired the center since he was a teenager he kept up with the hits on the local favorite vulnerable Americans do not have the luxury of pursuing ideological purity over an inclusive Victor he did repeat what is becoming a common slogan on the democratic campaign trail vote blue no matter who his supporters were ecstatic the ideas the it'll I value to bring us all together to start dropping on the solution it's an argument that seem to pay off Michael all right thanks Steve Steve Kassebaum reporting for first light Steve will be back with us later on this morning to give us more detail closer up look at what happened yesterday and last night in New Hampshire of course the rise of senator any clover shar leapfrogging over Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden to come in at a solid third place apparently riding a fresh wave of enthusiasm after strong debate performance last Friday night Andrew Yang and senator Michael Bennet say they are dropping out of the race
