"Eyes at stake here, and we can see it in the numbers. The New York State Restaurant Association did a survey that came out and said 63.6% of restaurants in the state. Responded that they would be likely to close by the end of the year. If they don't get any additional help. In the city itself. The New York City hospitality Alliance puts out a survey beginning of each month. Talking about who was able to pay rent on looking at the July numbers 83% of restaurants that they surveyed weren't able to pay their full rent 37%. Take no rent, and only one in 10. We're able to re negotiate their lease, so it's when you talk to. It's It's kind of different stories. You talked to the politicians and they say, Yeah, we're working hard. We're doing all we can. Then you talk to some of these small business owners. And they say, Look, this is a five alarm fire. This is a building that's burning in front of our eyes. And, you know, we need a lot more urgency than what we're seeing right now. Just the city sort of losing what makes it New York But just all these folks who are waiting for any certainty for their livelihood to come back and their lives to get back to normal. Yeah, And there's still no sense of when that certainty might be here. There have been a few proposals to try and get things back on track, A Zoe said one in 10 of those restaurants in New York City. Were able to re negotiate a lease. So a lot of people see landlords here is as maybe the big roadblock that they're not giving their tenants much of a break, eh? So there have been some proposals we heard from City Council member Brad Lander talk about recovery leases. He wants. Teo really wants to give people an incentive to renegotiate leases by offering a long term break on property taxes for landlords, so that maybe one idea To try and get the wheels spinning here on allowing tenants and landlords stick to find some common ground. But as of right now, it still seems like they're on two very different pages, and the politicians are on the third page. That's our WCBS reporter Steve Berms, wrapping it up succinctly and perfectly is usually who will keep an eye on the story for us. Thanks so much. Thank you. Coming up on the 80 Rewind. Kenosha, Wisconsin is now a political battleground. Both President Trump and Jova Biden visited this week following the shooting of Jacob Blake by police will examine the very different messages from the candidates. We also talk with the founder of a new Latina focused digital platform with a goal to get out the vote. But next, there's increasing scrutiny on police departments nationwide. And here in New York, where crime is rising dramatically, we'll talk with Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams about the balancing act between police accountability and public safety. But now we get a check of traffic.

"Away from the store for seven years. I remember when I left the store I liked you. Came back to the store. I fell in love with the man you had become do to you had become a man of comedy now. You had become what was told to me. Ten years ago that. When you go back into his game, you have to go back as an Helga and you have to set an example for the younger guys you have to act a certain way. You had lied down at you paid leave you paid everybody. Gave everybody states time along the way as much as you give people. And for. At home listening young comics. Foot plumbers electricians for lawyers listen. Sometimes you gotTa take a bullet. Sometimes you gotTa do the wrong thing to get to the right place. You know what this kid ain't ready for ten minutes. But. Who to fuck it minded decide. Let Him. Go update the same way. Louis. CK put me up for guests at Seattle in ninety five. Okay. It all comes to circle. And I gotta be honest you. You will one of the guys that really had highlighted. that. You, know there was these guys working at the or didn't even have comedy experience. And they're trying to nickel and dime. Ya. And meanwhile they're living in a two bedroom fucking apartment up in the hills. Off a your sweat. You didn't do that. You said, I'm giving everybody envelope. Coming down here with edibles I got a masseuse in the back. I got fucking food. There was Joe's pizza. He was just flock experience. And that's why people. Hate. Comics. Open up clubs. Because they forget a what. was important in that Green Room. It's not the big things I don't want you to plan the helicopter ride around Utah I don't need that. Is when I go to my fucking hotel room, there's a cheese platter. It's when I go to the Green Room. That's the sandwich I like they called the head. Things I. got you that pizza just little things. You know bill bloomer rights you go to Boston he shows up with a pie in between shows from. Regina. Regina's pizza the best and bought. There's little things that people could do to make your day. When I did those shows for you? You made me feel I never complain one time about where might spot was. I went down at. It was an experience. You paid me I wasn't in the original room. And I we go home. Sometimes, you, Thursdays. Sometime you. What's The kid? That Ran Sunday nights? Arc Saratoga? Yeah. He was very good to me. Yeah. No I take those guys they go. Thank God that. You know when you and I started at the store good you and I both know that there was no main. It was Tuesday Friday and Saturday. And we weren't allowed in on Tuesday if you get what I'm saying, yes I it was. Pure African. Night right night hosted by Joe Torry. Just tremendous. You'd see everybody down there ansel. The fuck in director it was great. But the main room we first got there was not really a thing. It wasn't dude and it was like more of a party room coke bad decisions just hanging out dude and you know I miss those days but I. It was like insane when I think about all these dudes are came up with man and how you guys all did my show and we all make money man. We can leave with a grip loot and go home. He didn't have to fly anywhere to do it. We got to get in. And I would always like I go man trust me I, know where to put you in the lineup you'll be like. Like let's say you went up and you always said you'd flaying till the room I'd have to go in and people down to the next person. You know that's why enjoyed do I enjoy putting on a shell that we say, Oh, you're MCA mcnabb master ceremonies dude it's totally different thing for them. That's what I love you. And people it's so weird. Her every comic wants to get out of the EMC Phase I'm sick I remember saying well. It's the strongest position on the field you hot dude is the strongest position on the field. If, you can mc you're never going to be Tom. Brady. You're never going to be Tom if you can close and host now. Now yourself and do you can close and hold. And if you go out there and host. Had put up killers like you did and then go out in the back and do another five. I listen to you when night I think I was up last that want to go into the crowd. And I might listen to how Tripoli sending them home. He's sending them home complete and there's a line outside to get at ten thirty next Shell. The next show had to get that show in at certain time. To tire man is like. And I gotTa tell this last time like I stayed away from the store for seven years. I went back in two thousand, thirteen. Yeah. I, it was. Fun You know. It was lot of fun. It took me right back but I knew I went back and elder. I didn't go back as Young Joey Dee is yet dick sucked in closets and fucking. Back as a fuck yeah. That was a good time ninety, seven to two thousand, the comedy store was what was. What the Fuck D will military is and I don't know why people and they see that as like this awful thing, it was a magical it was it was more of a private club at that time. Like L. Magical describe as he goes, it's a private club and like if you were blessed to get in, you're in and comedy was great but it was also about just. Experiencing just be being an entertainer to what we thought entertainment was, and we got a little lost in it and sometimes the party and was a little bit harder than the comedy but man I went it was so necessary from time because every a lot of people. That were there during the dead time where the guys who got a lot of reps in because none none of the cool kids won't go down there. They would stay away like a fucked up place. It's negative energy negative energy. So, all these all these guys got reps in wraps. I worked on getting I go okay man we gotTa build this lineup. So I got a lineup of killers and I knew the way to get people in. On the big thing was the sit next to Mitzi ablaze defense. So, she could see these guys kill sit down, take it easy. Pre Do this this this and let me play defense. And you know I did so much that actually fucked me and put me at the end of the night but that also made me stronger. So. Like all those guys who were there when there were only a couple of people in that. All went on to become National Mur Heb theater murderers. Do you think if come into comes back with the story thing that's GonNa happen again with since a lot of people are leaving there's going to be a lot of room at all these clubs for people who say Well I think this is going to be a rare time because when I got picked up, it was a rare time sore because she just guided the lineup and she got know at my age now I feel for those comics because they're like, yeah, you can't go up anymore and it's like but this is my home it's like welcome business. So then I was like so thankful I would I feel for everybody that happened to cause comedies a CO bitch man and It can be really hard. So but you know Ma Sebastian earns Camarillo and then Ari and all those guys came in and people are getting Rep Steve Berm Bryan callen. L.. Magical. Man in that room other reps and you're getting lower reps in. House getting six. I would call Sunday through Sunday. So I found out she uses how me I don't like when people pick certain nights bone. Once. I heard say that okay. Sunday Sunday even if I didn't WanNa do comedy I went down. Even. If you weren't in the mood to get in the mood, you know 'cause it was fifteen dollars and that was the biggest check you going GonNa get that fucking week. and. It'd be the four those you got sixty dollars. You know your main room on the satellite to fifty to eighty, one, ninety, five. All that. Deal. that. Man. And I couldn't get on the road..

"One for two on the power play for buffalo over two four the roughnecks and chase Frazier. And Nick weeks combining for thirteen face off wins against Tyler Burton who collected eight out of twenty one and the three stars of the game tonight Jeffrey stars third star shot. Evans, one goal four assists. Five points on eleven shots. Second star Dane Smith, one of one but a lot of the other stuff he did these for two points twelve shots. But the number one star without question, number one Christian Dobie Oncle forty eight saves on fifty five shots at, hey, don't assist in there to boot phenomenal performance for the youngster and they know that coach Maleski in the next going to be proud of that effort, and they're going to be bringing the Ray game back in Calgary thirteen thousand seven hundred forty seven on hand here at the key Bank center. They'll be watching next weekend and listening next weekend is the buffalo bandits head over to Calgary. Scotiabank saddledome again we'll have the game show. For you at eight thirty the game at nine before we find out where the world, Steve berm, Liz, we spotted you Steve, you're down at the buffalo bench and nobody's around you, what do you say, buddy? Yeah, you could tell that they're disappointed. But as coach Kilgour said they've been in this situation where it's win or go home before, they'll, they'll know how to rally back in his day mentioned practice on Tuesday. It was interesting when they had that loss to Toronto and overtime. I asked a couple of the players of that loss was a good thing to kind of recalibrate, an appears like it was because they did play well after that, this loss might just be an opportunity for them to recalibrate. Maybe get back to the basics and hopefully for the bandits a win Calgary next week your first time we've ever done this on the broadcast covering the bandits Steve. Did you have a good time robing roaming around the arena tonight? Yeah, I had to learn how to multitask, walk and talk at the same time, which my wife is sure to tell me. I'm unable to do. But I yeah, it was a it was a great time walking around the arena, being around the crowd and had some great views as some of the goals were scored tonight. What do you think the vibe of the crowd was? What did you hear? Well, they certainly got taken out of it early as you guys at the pace of play really wasn't there, there weren't even a lot of fast breaks transitions to get people up and out of their seats. I do remember there was one instance where Matt Spang or scoop to loose ball and went out and transition and the crowds stood up. He was nowhere near the net. So early on there certainly was a lot of energy maybe taken out a little bit. But that fourth quarter, the crowd came back to life. When buffalo went on a run. Well, it's a final Calgary winning game number one of the best of three ten to seven over the buffalo bandits..

"Gail. I'm. Stay with us Kaelin. Stay with us. Stay in that chair. Please. Please. Dave, what did you? Yeah. Yeah. Pick me up. There would you learn if I learned a couple things from this weekend. So I thought more from Sunday I thought it was like a good set of games in general. I thought arlando had a good game plan in terms of when they came out with their subs. Giving more energy and changing the way they play. And that's what I think looking forward. You're gonna have to see from them is can they play that way all the time and can they play with high energy? And can they do that all the time desperate? Yeah. I think so. And I think that's okay. Because they've been a bad team. You gonna help you win. You kind of have to be desperate. Honestly, given the results that they've had. And I don't know if you can start a game that way, and I don't think you're bringing subs on the thirtieth minute. But you know, they had a different roster out there that wanted to play different soccer from the sixtieth minute on. And that's when they were most. So they they would just desperate. They took out there to center midfielders and then put on two wingers. So that was just a move. I think I think the game plan actually for Orlando was was pretty good overall. And they were in good shape. They just gave up these two set piece goals, which is. My big takeaway, and it's it's sort of a personal pet peeve. And you know, I don't really get a chance to talk about these things much. But you know, now on extra time I figured this was the right venue for my rant on every Monday man on zonal marking onset pieces. I just will never understand. I went back and watched this Orlando city, I set piece of they give up to Steve Birnbaum and they've got a line of four across their six. And then they have a I think another line of three in front, but nobody actually I don't even I tried to see it. I don't think anybody actually touches a player from DC United Birnbaum kind of goes a little bit to the back. And then cut in front is one of the easiest goals he'll ever score. And he's one of the best players in MLS for me in you have in the area. If he's me too. He went to Berkeley, so perfectly. But he it those guys you have to if you can you can put some guys on the six, right? And you want to get somebody in that. I just a mix of men in zone marking absolutely have to like at least bump Steve berm. So he doesn't get the Brown. He's the target. If you put Sunday on him and gets dunked on. Hey, yes. Sorry. You know? And if you put Sunday on them and another small guy, then you got a better chance. But if you just let Steve Birnbaum run on her Chad Marshall run on with a free run up. I just you deserve to lose you deserve to lose. And that's what happens I also found plaque Erkin dark these days. I like it. I found out that my girlfriend falls everyone on social media. And I'm Alaska's Birnbaum did the and she goes he just got married, and I was like, okay. Wait, why do you know that? But all of a sudden Instagram. That's he falls everyone and their plus one. Nice, congratulations. Steve Birnbaum little disconnect. You know, he said he doesn't score off. I'm gonna end there. I'm just gonna walk away right now for Portland, though, they lost Alice that was the poison shells at San Jose's next. So hey, timbers fans, you got an opportunity. Get your first win of the season at San Jose on April six you go to Dallas after that to Columbus after that Toronto after that oursel-. So the next five to once are so I think San Jose ought to be looking at Giovanni several says he feels that this team is going to win more games than they lose. And that he leaves the sensation that the first one is just around the road. So they constantly gets realized ain't got a lot not op they got better as this game went along. So there's something positive there. We're gonna put out a tweet here before we go to break, and we wanna revisit the panic rankings. But I think we're going to have to do that on Thursdays show panic one all good no worries here. Everybody knows we're going to be all right panic too, bad luck. Just wait till we're healthy, inform at home, etc. Etc. Panic button three concerned. Yes, panicked. Not yet four. It's time to start bailing water and five this ship might just sink Atlanta. United red bull's NYC AFC Portland rail Salt Lake that you can find your way onto that spectrum. In the meantime, we're going to break on the other side. How's it going? I'm doing well that were you doing pretty well, maybe not as well as a head coach just got a touchdown. I know that that's you know, neither here nor there. "Lord. Awesome. Awesome. I'm doing a podcast. I'll call you back. Okay. All right. Bye. Love you love you. So two thousand eleven Tom Christina come over to my house that Monday, right? So I I do Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday. That's what's three to the seven shows. Right. I go into radio and people are calling Dave and Jimmy and they're like, oh this the machine, and Dave and Jimmy are like what's the machine to story? I told on Rogan. Yeah. And they're like what is it? So I tell it there. And then I go to the show that night on Thursday and it sold out but not sold out. But it's it's half papered. Right. It's sold. There are a lot of soul tastes. But it's papered. Right. But my bonus was papered or sold. It didn't matter if it if it was sold out. So I go up Thursday, and I start doing my act it Zan and the guy goes the machine gnarly on the machine, and I go guys I'm not going to tell it and this kid in the front row goes, hey, man, like loud enough, the whole room for your for the whole room to here. He goes. Hey, man, we understand that it won't be good yet. But in order for it to get good, Bert. You gotta tell it. Scott census, -til, it's like your own mind speaking. Yeah. And he goes and the guys in the back the guys in the back, like don't worry. We're here for you, man. Just gotta tell. You know, Rogan said, you gotta tell it. And trust me. It's okay. If it's bad so often, it's right there. So I tell it, and it didn't do well, but they clapped and then I got done and then I call in the next show. Same thing. They're yelling the machine them shea guys. I'm not in another guy goes come on, man. Rogue is you gotta tell it. You gotta tell it. And so like FOX why tell it again. And then I go back and saves troops. Like, it's a great story. I go. Yeah. He goes. So you're going to tell that every show, and I go no in the third show Saturday that week. I didn't tell it. Right. And Dave comes back, and he goes, hey, man. I got some guys in the in the bar there little upset they drove all the way from dot dot dot. And you didn't tell the machine story there waiting for you out there. They want to hear the machine story. What's? So I go out to the bar. This is like the first week telling the barn. I tell it to these guys, and they go any minute story right at the time at the time is probably a fifteen seventeen minutes story. So I go to these guys and they go. Hey, man, Joe. Said you have to tell them, and you gotta tell it, Bert. If you want to be a better comic, you gotta tell it don't worry about killing. But like you got better comics challenge. It's mantra right there, legit comedy fans. Right. So then I was like fucking I'm telling every show. So I told it every show I sold out all seven shows competence old. And I and Dave strips like you get I really big bonuses that yeah. And he's like you get a thousand dollars per bonus for sold out, really. And he goes, I didn't tell me why he goes joining cash or a check taking cash, so he gave me seven thousand dollars cash, Tom and Christina came over. And I was making it rain on my daughter. But yeah, that that that how many years into comedy was that how long were you doing stand up professionally or just I'm trying to think so two thousand eleven to two thousand nineteen right now that was eight years ago years ago eight years ago, I was thirty seven. Wow, thirty seven thirty eight. So you were doing comedy for while. And you just it. I was I started comedy in in when I was twenty six. Yeah. Twenty years ago twenty years ago, so ninety nine see that's what I'm saying. Like, and that's why like it's like a comedians like, so there's when I see comedian who's very young age wise. It's like he he or she may maybe maybe not. But there's just on alternately going to get better. Like anybody who I sit and laugh laugh laugh part they've been to some shit, man. Like, I'm thirty four have been doing comedy eight nine years yet. And I feel honored for things that I've been able to get but I feel like I'm nowhere near where I need to be keep work at thirty four headlining. Headlining? I had two kids. And I remember someone saying to me you're the youngest headliner in the chain the franchise. Wow. And I went yeah. And I looked at the lineups. And I was like, yeah. It was me. Steve berm was like thirty four. But like we were the youngest sa- girl was a headlining Eddie was still like featuring he was in his by twenty eight at the time. But that was maybe twenty six, but yeah that thirty four was. A good fucking time. Yeah. I I feel like you know, like, I I have an hour an hour special coming out comedy central size, thirty eight waist Friday January eighteenth, and I'm proud of it. I'm certainly proud of it. But I just feel like, you know, and it's and it's and it's the last ten year nine ten years of my work. So it's great. But I feel like ten years from now I'll look back at this special. I'm hoping it'd be like, oh, wow. Member when I used to do that shit, you know that special rights comfortably dumb if I went through and told you those jokes. I I'm not in barest, but I go that was me trying to write for what was selling at the time. There's a book by called the art of war or

That's like a western award now based off a really good movie real in river. Yeah, the the trailer will suck you out. And really, I think the trailers. That's why I didn't wanna see. It ought such a long story short. He's he's a hunter and he's a girl ends up dead. Elizabeth Arden is with us. She's she's really good. She's good, and he finds he finds a killers, but it's a really wild. Did you see that movie three billboards? Yeah. I didn't see it. Would you think mazing great performances I liked. I don't know. I, it's so weird. It's like there's three. It's like, you don't like any movie. Yeah, we'll see. You know any. I mean, it's well that's the thing is just like it's so much harder to make a movie like, look, I was talking to the dude who made end of the fucking world that there's it's a show on Netflix. It's about these two teams math on Netflix. I think it's October job too big mouth shopping evidence to show to Netflix, shut up, just hit Serena's, the head enough, shut out to enter Goldberg. The co creator, a big, move yourself. A shout shout out to Nick Kroll, co-creator, big mouth, October fifth, shoutout to release dates shut up to the day of October. All of them all the Steve burns out there, not just the Steve berm. We know Steve go on so said that he said the end of the world, Netflix. Oh, right. So so it's a guy is gonna make a movie of it, and it's the show about this like these two kids like teens who like get Lou like in England, they're fucking both of them are different weirdo. Like it's sort of like a Natural Born Killers thing where they then go off on the road and are like crazy together as a move. He as a show, it's fucking terrific because you can watch. It's kind of like we were talking about with like Hamilton may like the intermission and it's fucking long. You don't wanna do anything for three hours in a row that you can watch a show that was a movie. You watch two or three episodes, and if you wanna stay, if you want to binge through and watch like two and content like a movie, you can do it. If not, you can break it up over like two or three days or a week or whatever, and you're good. It's harder to keep people focused for for two, our. Hours on a movie, yes or play. You don't see a lot of movies that over two hours these days, like a war movie or super boring. Yeah, I don't. You know. And the reason for it shout out to time shut up, shut up to millennials for not having attention span. I the millennials Tishman shut up to the concept of time and how elastic or construct other time. Other time, eking physics. Yeah. Yeah. What what movie blew you away? Oh. And look if they can keep us spin the healthy and between this enroll you have a little look office plainly Silva, who's just hasn't ever been related. Get back from that injury yet. And they're in a moment right now where it's not like this was going to be the easy part of their schedule. They're managing five games in fifteen days and not having a spindle silv- out there in first place. So if they hit their form after which doesn't make sense to say because they're already in first place, they could actually get a larger lead on that. Sport. This is a team that Steve berm leftback core and camp out. So doing it with anybody step, amazing amazing. What these really impressive so far mantra to Vancouver one also in done. No one could predict. No. Definitely predicted it Montreal Vancouver. One yet another game in which Karl Robinson comes out afterwards. And says man, we played really, well, why didn't we win this? If you're a capstone, you gotta be getting kind of tired of that. But this was a big win for Montreal to get this thing at home. That's where they get their points. Right. Is it home and Montreal we're going to talk to I note to the Philadelphia union head coach so Philly is in that last spot the spot fifteen points from fifteen games Montreal they have eleven from nine. So they've six to make up on the Montreal are in great shape. But you do kind of feel for call Robinson in the Vancouver Whitecaps because again another game where they play. Well. I mean, here's a theme continues up team plays well Vancouver. They did have oke WT. It on the bench. And I know you wanna give him a rest every now. And then but to me you keep playing the guy until he gets back scoring. I mean do ever game at the weekend. Remember getting the startup top. I mean, the problem is that nobody's been really producing Rivero needs a partner. I would actually entertain. We haven't seen too much formation changing from Vancouver. They've stuck to their four to three one steadfast with.

"Wanna hear from you? You're encouraged to Email extra time MLS soccer dot com for tweet at extratime radio with any comments questions orientations. Hey, what's up guys if Fillmore Gonzales and you're listening for extra time radio? Radio through maybe David Goss that is churches off the hunger games, mocking. Jay soundtrack will -til bummbly shout out there for you. I guess it sounds good. I don't think I'm gonna go see it. But listen Simon's out here today. So I just wanna tell you. I hate your music selection. I think you have terrible taste in music, and you shouldn't pick the music. So now that you got that. But feel so good just keep your regular schedule a little bit antsy somebody really crushed on it. I didn't I could really do this show the right way. Listen, I'm in the market for movies. Now, this is my time where I go see movies. So check it. I'm still waiting. I would recommend Byrd, man. Yeah. I did. It's it's a great movie. I saw with it hated it. So there you have to extreme loss in the short of it there. Let's get into male lots of stuff on the rookie of the year. I think a lot of Chicago fire fans out there wondering why they're boy Harry ship. Didn't get the honors. He actually got my vote in the end. It's Tetiaroa can deli of FC Dallas it takes home rookie of the year. Steve berm bomb is third and Christie. Vol is fourth your thoughts show deserve it. Would you rather go to ship it good crop this year? At least I actually wanted to see go to burn out. I thought ship and show put up decent numbers. But not astronaut Michael numbers and their affect wasn't as consistent, though, the the knock-on Birnbaum, of course, the only played what twenty one game something like that. And I think why the reason shipped in because he did his early in the season. When people forget, and that's unfortunate, people do forget, the one note there from show he did not start until early may. And then he got the lineup for good for fourteen straight games there. And he had seven goals. And to assist in those fourteen games. And then tailed off production-wise dynasties, of course, getting the playoff goal, and he started out at a time when they needed a striker, and he was big for them. And they went to the playoffs. And so I think a good crop though. All around for all three of these guys should a good. Season as well. Also, everyone throwing it out there and see doubly tournament reaching the Sweet Sixteen the round of sixteen going into next week. Keep your eyes on that everyone out there today. Also today that the Columbus Crew are no longer the Columbus Crew, nother the Columbus Crew SEC, it's all changing, Dave, and you can't refer to them. Apparently. Now is the crew just crew as C? So what does the over under on? Yeah. You can't do that. Really? I don't think can't isn't the website still the crew. Yeah. But that's gonna change soon. Okay. Don't worry about that. Look how many times are we going to make this? How many times people in unless gonna make this air are casual fans ever gonna get on board with the crew ac- assumption would be casual fans will get there sooner. Because they won't really have it like is ingrained as like frost where it's like. Oh my God. Ron our test is now Metta world peace, and I have to remember that. I could never do it. Yeah. Although Metta world peace is very catchy. So maybe better. Yeah. Me. Yeah. So I can guarantee you on this show. We will be. Making that mistake sizable amount of time. We should have a contest to see who does at the moment. We should crew a C fans. Just let us know when we screw this one up. So you got that one right? Chris pronto on Twitter extra time to give some attention to the other teams in what squad do you had a negative fluky or this year? I'm defining that as a team that had a bad season that it was like a one off that like they were unlucky or things. Just didn't go there or they ended up facing good teams at the wrong moments, and they're gonna turn it around next year. So we're living in this, of course, to non-playoff teams who for you Dave out of the east had the biggest negative fluky going say Toronto. I think if the phones healthy just a little bit more Bradley doesn't have a World Cup. I think they make the playoffs not saying there's not huge issues in that team. But that's my that's a good one to run them in the west is tough. The west is really tough. I don't know that there's a team that you look at in the west other than the Portland timbers who were right there. And you say boy this team just got unlucky. They were good. Actually, they just didn't have the record to reflect it. But if I was going to choose one. Of the well, not three to sporting KC in Houston will come over the west and Sheba's USA. We know where they're going. It's no longer. Well, it's nowhere. But. Between the Rapids in the earthquakes rock and a hard place. Dumb Canir new stadium via field. I'm going to go the same as earth. Quakes have the best chance the bottom of the west little note on via stadium. It is now a hundred million dollar stadium. It was announced as a sixty million dollar stadium. The quake saying that they put some more money into it. Make sure you get all the bells and whistles in there. So a lot of people excited for that one bit in Charleston battery he says, he drops the longtime listener first-time Email. Glows? Yes. Your core speaks ran New York with Mike Isiro playing quality game for centers this week in there. I've been to former homegrown Charleston battery players Ozzy Alonzo's the other making significant contributions to the Sounders will mar Nagel he also played for the battery little note for you there. His question is why is the affiliate programs such a one way street players to a designated USO pro side if I wasn't MLS front office. I'd be looking for a deal with the battery of the Richmond kickers Harrisburg islanders that also gave me I right over futile for their fines or does the future of North American Soccer included system or smaller clubs becoming selling clubs. The richer endless teams. Somebody is now. Well, I think the reason why this doesn't happen is the rules in molest. You can't do this. It's all about discovery signings and things of that nature. So it goes through a little bit of a different process. But I think you will start to see that in US pro. That's what we're starting to see what the galaxy except they're doing it a little bit different way. They're signing their academy players. They're homegrown players. L pro deals and saying look you get paid. Now, you have an. Progress you'll probably train with the first team. Some maybe you'll get to a point while we're sign you for that that galaxy first team roster. So I think we're starting to see this. But I think the USO -ffiliated and US stand-alones are so young that it's just hard to really know what the environment will like in four five even two years time. Yeah, I fully agree with you. I think the one thing we're seeing though is how quick the development is in one year that you go from one team to the amount of teams now that will have that. And I know the expansion teams. I mean Orlando has it set up, and I think it's just too much to do quickly. Not quite the same in in city. I think is the ideal for clubs, but similar ownership base. Some familiar with Orlando and live, and of course, our lenders familiar with the affiliate model, the shining example here, and I know Orlando already pushed a bunch of players that were on their team into that Louisville team. So it should be interesting should be interesting. Let us know what you think, you know, to get at us Biddle bit of news here. I will not be around on Wednesday. Dave inside. Simon doing the two men once again, we're looking for. You know, hit us up on Twitter. If you're just around New York your fan, you want to be on the Mike you'll be just maybe Simon Borg is willing to do crazy things. So let us know. That's it for this Monday. Join us on Wednesday. "Want to hear from urine courage to even extra time? MLS soccer dot com for tweet at extratime radio with any comments questions gyms. Reactions. Hey, this is Gregg Berhalter the coach of the Columbus Crew. And you're listening to what what are we listen to? Backdown extra time radio went silent. Lord of the gas man that is of course, the intro to Sabrina the teenage which I heard you guys got into it on the last show apparently Harvey had a New England Revolution pin it on his wall. That's pretty impressive stuff. Josh Mississippi is falling up here. Good. He says there's been a lot of discussion here about the legitimacy of this Melissa Joan Hart following assignment, I'm here to say that I think it's legitimate. He says it's also the real deal. He's a sports editor and Mississippi. And there was recently a bit of a stir down here on social media Mississippi. I didn't even maybe that's where I got like placement of the Kaka calf camp. He's not gonna write us again. Probably gonna write us against until screwed over Mississippi. I think it's a beautiful state. Just maybe humid says absurd down there on social media. After most Joan har- began falling some Alabama football recruits fella journalists into determined that. Yes. She was indeed falling recruits. She's a big Alabama football fan said journalists even went on the have. A brief back and forth with MJ h on Twitter. So he believes heart is probably a legitimate bore groupie, and it Simon should be heartened knowing that she likely did take an active part in following him. I mean, the one question is is she listening right now. That's a big question. If you're listening Joan Hart, please. Addicts time radio follow us. Am I cool? The fact that I didn't follow her back. That's pretty cool with me. Do I need to follow her back to I need to go. Check right now. So when you go back to your desk, you don't quit on follow Molitor. Okay. You're just kinda creepy following because you know, she falls everyone's on you check on her time line to see what she wrote. No, I'm just saying is it cooled. And I'm like, I'm so cool thing. Here's the thing. What how do we know that her kids maybe Harvey has taken over Harvey was her fictional boyfriend? So you're already you're cool points actually might have earned cool point nine nine. Harvey was Brian in DC. Just finished listening to Monday's podcast. And I must take exception with some of the logic used discussing player honors for this year. That's understandable. These two were the ones on it. You were discussing the merits of airy ship Steve Birnbaum and using stats tobacco pure assessment. This is always a disservice to defenders because they are not on the field to score goals. Take a look at Burma stats and considering came into the starting lineup due to an injured Jeff park park in NFL. NFL MLS veteran was brought into the team to improve very porous defence Perm Baum had zero plan time, and he filled it on June seventh since then. Twenty starts played every single minute of every single game. He scored ten his ten fouls zero cards in zero red cards. That's pretty impressive in twenty years. If they paid attention to what we said, we actually said berm Bom arguably has the lead on everyone tells gone on drought ship that goes not gonna change anything from me. I think he doesn't deserve it. Games ago? But we were also saying stats in terms of impact on the team that Harrison ship has whatever. But he's saying like Jeff park came into improve a defense. Bobby Boswell, and Sean Franklin also showed up on that back lot. Yeah. Sure. Sure. It's not a Steve Steve berm show to speak. But I'm with I'm actually with them here. I think it sounds like you guys are too bright in DC that is that Steve Birnbaum for me right now leading helping lead DC to where he is. I think he's my rookie of the year. He's great in the air one of the best. I can say about him. I don't notice him that off. Yeah. He just doesn't make mistakes. He solid the ball moves when it hits his foot well-done, Steve we'll see how it all finishes out where these votes go. Eric styles in Hackensack, New Jersey, he wants to know as a beef era sensually, he's mad about the fact that essentially DC will not be Eastern Conference champions Intel they win the conference title in the playoffs. He says that doesn't make any sense at all. Why should we say they finished first in the eastern? Conference. Why shouldn't they be the Eastern Conference champions? What do we have an answer to that? Because he's he's pointing out some things here. There's headlines have them. Hey, they secured first place in the east. Hey there there, you know, first place. It's all first place. It's not champion when the Denver Broncos have the best record of see. And they don't win the AFC championship. They're still. They're not the champions until they win the championship. They won their division though in the. The best record in the AFC. It doesn't matter division champion. And then if I was all about the playoffs. Yeah. I mean, you get like a little thing that you could put up in your stadium. I mean, you put something up if you want if you root for a team that doesn't win. That's fine. You well, they can't as well. Can't they I'm sure they could I don't know you don't put a first place in the standings. And you know, put up supporter shield it's the same as winning the supporters shield is just in your conference. So it's not the same as God. Got it. So I if you won the supporters shield, but you did. And it's the other conference doesn't make sense Eric styles. I understand I understand your frustration over this all the time. It's almost like you have to have a style guide for them unless playoff sometimes. But look you gotta do it in the playoffs. That's the system the title gets earned there. And so does the eastern Western Conference title. That's just the way it is. Let's finish. It off. Jake little I'm assuming LA, but I'm not sure just wanted your opinion on something. Most people haven't discussed since the LDC announcement Donovan's departures going to leave a third EP spot, vacant Keenan guns. Oh, of course, having the other two who are some names that are likely to fill that spot the galaxy of brand name and club identity attract a high profile signing his dream. He says is Josie Alto crazy rotting away on the bench at Sunderland. But he'd love to hear our opinions. I'm not sure I have any specifics. But I have some ideas of the type of player I would go with so started up guys one specific

"Which leads us to a discussion about coach the yes. And we just talked about just a lot of praise on Gregg Berhalter the Columbus Crew in what they've done and the style of play and the fact that he's doing it for me with the same team. Yeah. A lot of people are gonna say Ben Olsen deserves coach of the year for taking three win team last year, and now tops in the east, and I think you can go either way it's just to go top of the east to win the conference after being historically bad last year too. Not just bad, historically bad. I don't think there's any way you can ignore what he's on just for my mentality standpoint. Now, I know you brought in a lot of players, but to get that culture out of the team take to get your players to commit week in week out and to help guide them through a little bit. I think he's huge. Now, we have a third opinion on this. Trevor more from Plainfield Illinois sends us some great emails throughout the year. He says how Ben Olsen be front runner for coach of the year. It isn't most improved. Coach of the year. Just because he set the bar so low last year doesn't mean he should get more credit for the job. He's done this season. Perhaps the front office deserves an award rather than Bengals then he goes on to name a couple of guys who we didn't say he said isn't what Oscar Paret did returning to see Dallas bringing them into playoffs for the first year in charge and also noting how late he arrived to them more impressive. And how about Jeff casare continuing? What Jason Kreis did with no drop off. He then says even Jay Jay heaps are Gregg Berhalter deserve it more than Olsen and the likes of Bruce Arena's Schmidt or even considering them a team so loaded that no, Emily. I think that's the problem is the talent on there. It doesn't feel like they're making magic out of nothing with their talent. Now in saying that Dallas and our cell and the crew and New England talented teams. But I thought it was interesting what he said about Pereira. I don't think anyone's mentioning it. And I think he should be in the conversation. It is the single biggest turn around these United an improvement of forty two. Points from two thousand thirteen the previous best was thirty nine points by the New York team, then known as the MetroStars from ninety nine to two thousand so important stuff going on for and by the way, they get Eddie Johnson seems like he's now becoming contribute and they need him too. With Luis Silva being out injured staying in the east as we mentioned before Columbus Crew making it because Toronto failed to win. They could not get past Montreal that game finishing ugly. One one is how finished Montreal having the satisfaction of knocking off their their rivals. So Toronto's eliminated, and I'm not as I'm not alarmed by this as much as other people who are calling it you spent one hundred million dollars. And by the way, you did. They didn't invest one hundred million dollars. Because if you're saying hundred million tell me talk to me about one hundred million at the end of Bradley in the foes contract. That's when they have technically spent one hundred million. So I don't buy into that nineteen. There's a lot of hyperbole. We talked. I believe in the first segment a lot of hyper blow around Toronto, and like what should happen. And what's interesting to me? Is a comment that I think it's worth discussing Alexi Lalas at halftime of the LA Seattle game mentions. He wonders whether Turner should entertain trading. Michael Bradley to get a few other pieces. And clearly other teams around the league with value him. Who knows how much of this country? They'd pick up who might be able to pick up his contract. I think Toronto shouldn't panic. No, no, one should panic. Michael Bradley shouldn't leave do you credence shot? Michael brandon? Absolutely not because you're not gonna get three players of equal of quality that creates Michael, Bradley and MLS trait. It's not gonna happen. You have a few young pieces on this team that I think get better next year. No sorrow in Beker in went, and you have a chance to put together a roster that fits I think a lot of it. This year was doing it on the fly because they didn't have enough time in the offseason knowing that they'd have to phone Bradley, Bradley kind of came out of nowhere. So I think now you put together a roster that actually fits correctly. And I think you go out and you got a couple MLS vets to play behind Bradley on that back line. Like, you didn't Justin Morrow, and I think you have a much better year next year. I agree. I still think they're missing two or three pieces. I think we said that earlier on in the years. Well. And look the foam missing this game as well with a groin injury. So that's been a discipline. These he's missed too many. And that's the thing is they invested that much of their salary cap in one player Who Wasn't There and Bradley had the World Cup, and that's a huge factor as well. On top of that they tried to get a couple of these vets and crawl and Darrow and pieces like that some of them were some of them didn't. But I think if you have the full offseason to get who you want. I think it will be more effective we wrap up segment two with some award talk, which I think is interesting because Harry ship resurfaces gets goal for Chicago in their two one loss against DC Tesha can deli who I think was a lot of people's pick earlier on the he's gone on a drought here of goals. Yeah. And Nick Hagglund because maybe didn't succeed probably low on people's pecking order, you gotta look at maybe Steve berm bomb. Coming coming now into the stretch run of the season one week left as perhaps the front runner for the rookie. But now the scope by Harry ship, does it change anything for him? I think if it brings him back into the conversation remind you how good he was. And I think he's the guy of those four that you name that really carried his team at times. I'll deli scored big goals. Birnbaum started in a team of eleven ten other great players. I think Harry ship was a bigger piece of his team which has struggled when he struggled. And I think that I think for me he's that's why he deserves it impacted the team as many games as you think seven goals, six assists, which are really good numbers for a guy who has fallen out of the lineup for a starter. And for a team that isn't that explosive offensively. And that's what I think is big for it. He doesn't have other guys carrying the offense of load. We mentioned tissue can dilly last goals. He's had for for Dallas August sixteenth when he hit that hat trick. So it's been. A a drought for him. The other not a good drought, but a long drought. The other award is Lee win getting two goals helping New England comeback from one goes that won't go down in Houston. Not an easy thing to do. If there's a single player changes to me can make a plate of change game right now in MLS. It's open. Martin's Lee win. Yeah. And it's impressive to watch him. He now has seventeen goal. So I've been giving the MVP award with me Martins. Yeah. He's now tied with Martin's on goals. I think Lee win is now officially among those top three. It's keen win over on heart. Is that is that the red bulls have faltered and Bradley Wright Phillips doesn't look like he's going to break the record. And so that's a spot. That's now open for him to step into. I agree. The issue for a win is on national TV this week Seattle and LA are gonna play supporter shield and Keene. Did they did on Sunday? And they didn't make a difference. If they didn't then makes a difference. I thought Obama had a good game keen I thought was poor. But part of that I think is the travel for him if Robbie. Keno if they win that game and keen scores a goal and has an assist he wins it. But if Lee win if Lee went has a great final game and neither one of them has good game. Yeah. I think he may have a chance I think he has a better chance than we've given him so far they I wonder because of his style of play people rate him as much as he's again, a more of a fancy player technical player. I wonder if among all these people are gonna vote general managers players, I wonder if they rate the forward the veteran forward the guy who's been around. Yeah. Maybe. But also, I think New England right now is a hot story, and he's clearly the centerpiece of what they do. And so I think people are going to see that with him. We want to know what you think about the rookie of your race and the MVP race. You can Email us extra time at soccer dot com. You can hit us up on Twitter at extratime radio.
