An Interview with WWE Legend Kurt Angle

"Incredibly pleased society. We've got joining us. Who never quite expected? That's phones on silent everyone. I never expected that we would have on. Tko wwe wrestling legend. Kurt Angle first of all. Thank you so much for for taking the time to join us. Thanks for having me on. And let's see you're over here with them. WWe promoting the new bt sport. Yes exclusively in the UK for the two thousand and twenty busy day few. Yeah we started early morning and we're GONNA go out tonight we just have like a a gathering at bt. Not and. I think it ends at eleven o'clock but we started early morning and this is normal for for sports entertainers. Yeah do a lot of media so going a huge wrestling fan on A. You didn't have sky in your house. Yes so I was like an a young kid by Cole I was Afam. wrassling bottom was on the subway channels and I didn't have sky the watch it as much as other guys. Yeah but I was obviously a world of high beg ables. Did you know when you first joined. Because obviously in these this day and age social media the Internet you know how truly global the companies and how far you're reaches but were you aware in in the late ninety s just how many people were watching worldwide now. I I didn't watch wrestling. I didn't grow up watching it. I start watching it it would. I started so when I saw the company late ninety eight. That's when I started watching I do WanNa come on those days. But he's okay. You got quite like to find Natalie about your amateur wrestling career because as a professional sportsman. That's something that you were known for his part of your. WWe character but actually that was a huge part of your career and your life you were in a family of rest is your brother's arrest sits right yeah had four brothers. They all wrestled. They were all very successful. I was the youngest. Didn't really like wrestling. The START WITH I. I like team sports. I didn't like it depending solely on me but the more I watched my brothers and growing up I start liking wrestling. I started getting better and eventually I got better than they were and then I became came the best of my family by win the Olympic medal. Yeah 'cause wrestling in America's be of a high school institution because we have it starts when you're serve in elementary school visit. Almost every school has a program right so junior high high school college. It's very big over there. So it's it's part of our culture because a lot of people call for boxing to be put into schools as part of the curric- it used to be in the schools and there's a call for it become back and installs obviously a lot of discipline and everything else and you see the the problems that society has these with Nayef Cram and gang culture and everything else. I think. Think that programs like that rather than in the states and boxing programs and the stats are in the UK. Only going to help us. What point did you? What age did you think this could really be serious for me as a career I would say around thirteen fourteen? I started having a lot more success and got to the high school level and I lost success there and it just carried over to college and I didn't really. Oh you think about Olympics. When I was younger I just thought about that season and if I could win the championship that year and every year I continue to win which Olympic I'm big city one nine hundred ninety six Atlanta Atlanta well? Is that your proudest moment. Out of everything you've done in your career. Olympic gold medal surpasses says anything. Yeah it was You know even bigger than anything. I've accomplishing wwe. Yeah Yeah Imagine. That was a kind of Golden Olympics for the US esteem cousteau was the homeland picked. Michael Johnson it like the basketball team is Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal came one. Those guys Gail Devers. Even Andre Agassi won the tennis and we're legends in that team. What was it like to be off in the Olympic Village? Seeing those people it was pretty cool. You know you knew it was special when you went to opening ceremonies and you saw the athletes there and the guys you mentioned they were the guys and girls that were participating that were already professionals professionals and they made it you know viable for pros to end up competing in the Olympics and so you saw basketball and tennis. Ns and now even golf. So the the pros are going and winning medals as well now so those of it because one of the things the Olympics exp boxing is one of the only sports where there is a kind of. There's another trajectory and other policy if you win a medal for of sports certainly minority sports. That aren't necessarily a lot of TV coverage the Olympic medal can often be the kind of end of the road. There isn't anywhere else. I speak to go resting very well. Be One of those is and and so for you that amazing so the question I was going to ask you without. FMA How to beg then as it was Ni- would you have took that pop rather than the wwe without a doubt. Yeah wow it wasn't at that point. UFC struggling they offered me a ten fight. Deal for one hundred fifty grand and that was our biggest contract they ever offered. This was in ninety seven and then sound very good to me so I decided decide to go pro wrestling and by two thousand one two thousand and two you have see was kicking in high gear but I was already drawn in and a pro wrestling scene. So how how did the what was the chain of events that let you to the door of of the W W well in one thousand nine hundred sixty minutes man offer me a contract. I flew up to meet with them and I wasn't interested. I had a lot of people. Tell me you know you grew up. You never watched the Fake what you did was real a lot of my peers. Were telling me don't do it. So my agent through the contract the way and I'd say in one thousand nine hundred star watching Watching stone. Don't go Steve Austin the Rock and however flannel. They weren't how entertaining they were. I thought man I could do this. I think it'd be a lot of fun and you have see at the time. Time wasn't going anywhere so I went with a wwe. What was the the early memories? Because I imagine wrestling's one of the toughest sports there is a is a amateur wrestling but of red. If in a few places that is a pro wrestling were were incredibly tough. What were your first memories of some of the first lessons and training training sessions? You did all the first day. When I started training I quit? I took three bumps and my neck the pain I was getting my neck and back it was like this isn't normal. You don't it's like self abuse and you know we bump on plywood. It's a lot like this and There's no spring underneath It is self mutilation. You're you're basically beating that crap on yourself because you're allowing. I mean people were throwing around and take your head off with a clothesline and the object. You're bumping on his plywood so it was very abusive in the first day. I I didn't like it and I decided to hang in there. I came back the next day and I continued on. I got used to bumping and and used the pain so eventually didn't bother me as much but I'm paying for it. Now see a leg generation before ours. My Dad's generation. They would not really look favorably upon the tablet Ali. But what these guys do is take some serious stick their body. There's some serious injuries and stuff. It's you know your two weight world champion. And you've taken many punches to the head and body is is anyone WanNa taking a lifetime. What is what is pain to you guys? How do you manage pain? Do you ever get used to it as ever become less painful or do you just become used to living in that place. It's something you get used to. And as a young boxer I think Jimmy Moore. My trainer is spoke about this and said that you can tell from a very young age or someone hazard or not and it's normally a kids barn and if they take a punch annoys on they don't cry and they punch back it's like you can't make the Paean it's like I don't know what obviously adrenaline carries you through a lot of it but it's not like a real specific. If you punch me in the arm Ni- I would feel feel more pain than actually punching ahead fate strange sensation. It's not nice but it's very very hard up. Manassas gray but law detainees. I've not been able describe pain amateur wrestling pro wrestling. What are the worst kind of pain that you can describe? And how do you deal with those. I think the worst pain I had and I still have it now as an amateur wrestling right before the Olympics I got thrown on my head and I broke my neck and I didn't know it. I kept wrestling again that day. I ended up winning the US Open and that put me in a good position to make the Olympic team for the Olympic. Trials made me the top guy so I didn't have the Russell the mini tournament Face the winner of the mini tournament. I was the guy that the mini tournament faced. So Oh i I I couldn't get passed by any doctor doctor. Wood Passer would allow me to wrestle so I eventually found a doctor and and he said the only thing you can do. You can't train you just would just stick in a neck with Nova game and you won't feel the pain. And he was right every match. I had at the trials and the Olympics. I got twelve shots. Novacaine the back of my neck couldn't feel it for about an hour and Russell and then an hour later I'd be in a lot of pain. You won the Olympic Games uh-huh with a broken neck that's insane quotes and wwe also. Yeah yeah I broke both my hands. The last vote doesn't ideal and it wasn't wasn't nice but it's hard to imagine when the pinnacle of Your Sport Olympic Games to be competing against the top guys in the world with a broken neck does that. I can't imagine boxing. We're broken hand. We are called you a few weeks ago and you said this is the most pain I think I've ever been in the radon especially she'll have a little bit of bone removed from the right time but there there was a a tendon that had ripped and it needed stitch together without that Han was give me more than than the left hand which has seven unscrews and appropriate and at night. He's but just because it had to have some work done the Tandon It was It wasn't wasn't nice. I WanNa ask you a question. Did you know ahead had a time that you're gonNA be suffering after your career from the injuries. Would you go back and when you do it all over again I we do it all over again because obviously enjoyed every bit of my career. I've been very successful more successful than I probably would have imagined. I've been lucky enough that my injuries alot. My last night I broke Mahan but previous my husband really suffered injuries but I would one hundred percent hop gum heart do it all over again. What about you? I don't know I mean I'm I'm hurting pretty badly my knees my back my neck. Sometimes I think about you know what when I go back my quality of life right now socks so I do have a lot of suffering. I had a painkiller addiction overcame about six years ago and you know stay clean and struggle. In the way I have been very difficult. was there a lot of pressure even when you had injuries week in week out to go and perform Tom. Did you ever feel that. You couldn't say no part of the problem no I I. Nobody ever forced me to do anything. There are a lot of times. I had a a great doctor that you gave me off had three neck surgeries and he was very easy to manipulate. So you know when I broke my neck and I had surgery I would talk him into clear Amina go back early and At the time he didn't have their wellness policy L. A. C. set where they had their doctor clear. You we go to our own doctor and I was able to do that a couple of times where I should have. I've been back and I did so I broke my neck four more times and WWF and It caused me to go into a downward spiral painkiller. Alert addiction in just almost room my life so it was. It was very difficult. Can I just say you have one of the strongest biggest looking knocks. Have you seen as well. Yeah Rick out again. Yeah wow so. How many times are you performing when when you when you arrested him? Mm to twice a week. You'll be performing five days a week. You for forming five

John Cena Thinks The Days Of WWE Having One Top Star Are Over

"I think the dynamic of the program is changing, for the longest time, I think, if you consider WWE aband-, there's been one front person of the band, I think that dynamic is changing and it's because the audience is too diverse. I think older males are watching it younger kids are watching it females or. Watching it the audience is so diverse. So with the diverse audience, it's tough to universally, please someone in the eighties, you had a family oriented program in hoagie was the front man in the nineties. You had eighteen to thirty five year old males income. Steve Austin, and Dwayne Johnson because they hit right down that wheelhouse. And then there was me, but even myself, as you know, went through a polarizing stage where half the audience likes you and half the audience doesn't. So I don't think there's a universal figure that will lead the company forward, I think as the company grows and especially expense globally. You're going to have like a super friends of the WWE, which is like people who are essentially fighting for equal share of popularity. I think the, the band, essentially will now have ten lead singers of every different race creed color, sex S necessity. So I believe that I was kind of the last of, of that, and I think that the landscape is changed so much that it's more of a group effort rather than individual effort.

August twelfth two thousand fourteen Steve's got a lot of classic. Memphis wrestling personalities in his catalog, and I think it's definitely important to revisit that territory and bring those out here on the classic episodes because it's isn't really cool stuff that Steve hawks about with these guests. So you might be hearing some more of those as we go along. But for this week its superstar Bill Dundee wrestler that was very instrumental in Steve's development in the. Texas and Tennessee. Territories working under Jerry Jarrett and world class and US w way. Bill Dundee a big start his own right in that area. Having many epic battles with Jerry Lawler either across the ring or as a tag team, which will talk about just a second here. But you've got to catch up with Bill Dundee here on this episode. Get some of our presence in the late eighties in the territory as well as a manager in does w in one thousand nine hundred three for Lord William regal. He was known as Sir William back, then but Steve definitely talks about as epic feud with Jerry Lawler Bill Dundee was also in a scaffold match. Not found thing was the first Catholic match, but it was definitely one of the earliest scaffold matches that happened against none. Other than cocoa, beware. Or as he was known as KoKo ware. Also, see talks with Bill about the to below concession stand brawl as mentioned Bill and Jerry Lawler are often adversaries, but also tag team partners. And in this, particular instance, the duo took on the blonde bombers Larry late them and Wayne fair. Better known as Moondog spot and the honky tonk man in epic event known as he Tupelo concession stand brawl, and this was nine hundred seventy nine and if you could find footage of it on YouTube, which is out there. It's quite the event commentated on by the legendary Lance Russell, and a lot of people say that it was kind of one of those small events that set the course for EC w at hardcore wrestling, as we know it today just crazy brawling all throughout the concession stand. And there is tables and stools and mustard being thrown everywhere. So she check that out Bill Dundee awesome wrestler, and he is the guest today on a classic episode of the Steve Austin show today Steve.

Later to become stunning. Steve Austin Jeff from Canada. Autobahn rootless would be the name. Hey, Steve of all the is you film, which one did you enjoy doing the most key? I think the one I enjoyed doing. The most is probably the condemned. I enjoyed that. It was you know, kind of an ensemble typecast. We had a bigger budget. We had more time to to rehearse things and production value was a little bit higher. The combinations were top notch. You know, we shot that movie. I think about a twenty million dollar budget on that thing. So that was that was one of my favorite ones. I think it was my first movie actually other than the longest yard, which was a Sandler movie and always enjoyed any movie. I did with Santa but other than that. I think hunt to kill would a been my next favorite movie. And I know that the next move that I that I decided to sign up for and I've been turning down a lot of things lately. Because I just don't want to do what I. I don't want to do and will not do what I don't want to do. It's going to be straight up. Almost a stone cold Steve Austin type movie slash roll angle. "About it. Low at good morning. It's the morning when I'm taping. This it's producer Sean with another classic episode of the Steve Austin show bringing you number fifty five with Colt Cabana original air date, October fifteenth two thousand thirteen you all know cult from his podcast of the art of wrestling podcast, which has been going strong since two thousand twelve I believe couldn't get the proper archive date. But they believe at this point. He was just about a year in with the podcast you folks out there if you've never listened to the art of wrestling podcast with Cochabamba definitely do yourself a favor and check it out. And if you're. A so inclined check out some of the archives because Colt has evolved the podcast over the years. And he has done some great interviews, and he's told some great tales on that show. And a lot of wrestling podcast today. I feel definitely do him a debt because I feel without his podcast know, wrestling, podcasting, maybe might not evolved to where it is today and shows like this Steve Austin show. So I think it's really cool that we get to share this podcast today with Colt and Steve hanging out talking about Colt and his pro wrestling trading getting into the UK seen. He's a very big in the United Kingdom also colts love for pro wrestling and comedy and finding ways to incorporate that into his entering work also Colt talks about his friendship with Matt capital. The late Matt capital from tough enough fame. Also around the time of this podcast recording. Sam punk had not yet quit the WB. E so they do talk about punk being the WWE at this time. I guess there was something going around this time that Colt loose to regarding him. Having an announcing gig with though to be or something some sort of role. I don't believe that came to pan out. But he does discuss that here, and is about here before the very notable episode of the podcast that cult did with Siham punk where Siham punk discussed in-depth his reasons for leaving WBZ. So there's an interesting timeframe about this episode. And it's good episode colds, always a great guest on podcasts and him. Steve have a good time. So you're gonna dig this today. "Podcast take that. I'll keep getting y'all snake cool down here in Texas. Thanks for the call. I'll try out here. And if he thinks you bellow is Steve Austin. What's happening? Hey, what's up? Steve halo, just kicking it over here in north Hollywood, California, right outside. Well, I guess I'm in Los Angeles man, shit's going crazy over here. But it's a nice cool day. I'm in a studio taken calls from wonderful people. How to hail you? I'm great, man. I'm talking to my favorite wrestler of all time. And I'm listening to hard from being at the Mark out right now. I. They really quickly. I'm not gonna bother you with my resting marking out by one say, thank you. Thank you. Thanks for everything. Hell Shipman a good time. Doing that job. Brought best job I ever had appreciated you watching some benched yet. I'm going to get to my question is I want your thoughts on the Brock listener going from mixed. Martial arts going from professional wrestling to make more than your thoughts on that how he did in his endeavor. Because obviously, it is really rare to see guy go from professional wrestling to make smarter than being debt successful in that world. Day one. And yeah, you don't see that. But you know, Brock is a special individual with superhuman genetics a- guy came from wrestling background. So that was are in his blood and in his brain. And you know, obviously made that made the obvious graduation from that into pro wrestling, which so many do, and then, you know, kinda got a little bit sick of the business maybe sick of the travel and who's going to try to play football. And you know, Brock has a size and strength to do anything in the world that he wants to do. But when you're trying to play football against people who played football all their lives and are just as good or cutting just as big that technique that they have from the experience is going to kind of win over. So if Braga played football as a youngster more and really focused on that more. So than wrestling, I believe he would have succeeded in professional football. So anyway with the background that he had called up nee and a white got into business with UFC. I think the guy was tremendously successful, obviously, his pay per view numbers speak for themselves and a couple of bad ass fights got caught up in a couple of you know, when Frank MIR tamped tapped. Amount that damn ankle lock. He was in some sla- ju just said he was in slobber knocker to quote JR. And then to kind of, you know, run into all the physical problems had with diver ticky lattice. And I think that's what cut his career short there. I don't know how many times we really saw a one hundred percent. Healthy Brock Lessner compete. He's a very special human being and then just decided to segue back into the business of professional wrestling maintain that who that high profile, which he still enjoys but kind of be a little bit easier physically own his body. So I think the guys kicked ass at every single thing. He's done. Well, according to Paul aiming we've never seen a healthy Brock listener up until today. This is a scary thing and eat it is. And I wish him all all this the health in the world and a great upstanding run in a WWE. Thank you very much. Appreciate you come racing for me. I don't want to. I love you, man. You're the you're the man. Thank you, man. Hello. You got Steve Austin? What you get to know one celebrity that you've been all strata. No. You know, what I can't say that? I have you know, maybe if I met John, Wayne or Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, but never met. None of those cats probably the coolest guy our meal, maybe the guy that I would have to put the top of that list..

"I was hey, yeah. But at theme they go. Here's the thing about that. We go back to the word fail. Again. We I mean, we jumped we jump back in there in in the layman fan out there, you know, can it kind of understands a little bit. But we really into stand it. And that that was what I was going with you when you were in the hold and you refuse to. I mean, they will the cell of that moment made Steve Austin? I mean, it was just this guy is none gonna stop our quit for anything. So going back to that to where they broke they broke the leg you remember what we used to call. We we had a saying back in the day white heat. Okay. White. He was win some some I they've broken leg. And the arena would get stone. On cold quiet that role would stop, and you would look out there and it lasts about twenty seconds. And and then at the at they were absorbing what they just see. And that white he started to build, and that's one we call. Hey rube. That's we said they're getting ready to a riot here. Once they realize that John that the do just went down, buddy. And and these guys are still standing there, you it was like suspended in time. It was like I'm era that it just like everything was in slow motion until they decided now, the roar becomes and as a roar came here, they came and they came and we would funny. Get back a little bit warn. And you know, guys have get back in the hills. We'll get back and say, wow, man. I mean, you know, what that was that was amazing. But you can't do that. Now, they because the social media. I mean, we're we're w is way more about the entertainment aspect of our of our hold industry. Whether it's giving money to the you know to all of the foundations. We do all the work. We do at WWE all the work. You did and all the ground road a wing tell about just wrestling. And we talk about an era of then eras that that set the tone for what we're doing. Why would Vince wanna buy some that wasn't successful? Why would he want to home the whole world if it wasn't successful in? He had vision of where he wanted to go. So then we are. I mean, it's just it's just it's just that simple. And we just, you know, you're you're much younger than me is is cool. But you know, just far we just you know, what I mean who would just dwelling in in the past. But the pets good you had if you ain't got no path. If you ain't got no Pac kit your kid. Yeah. But. I like, I I like talking about some of the heyday stuff that I grew up watching because along in that same and that same area of time. You know, I think magnum was backstage in address room, cutting a promo on telly Blanchard. I guess they were fixing to have a a mass yacht that US titled, and I'll be damned if only darned in in there in beat the hell out of him and Lisa I'm gonna bad way. And I know you. You magnum TA seemed to have a good personal relationship behind the scenes and somewhat of a protege of yours. How did you come to meet young? I think I think he he was the he was the next in line man, I chosen in because I had that much power to time, right? At time your booking behind the scenes in. But I mean, I had power to people with power, but then senior in myself, but an agreement put me into power, and I had it from Minnesota power. And then Vince junior came in of course, and then, you know, the I mean the power I mean, he unbelievable power that I didn't even realize that the time that I had but with magnum he was the children won't even the golden boy before the accident. They love the way for Jesus Christ barrel. Chest good-looking, the here, the Mustang. Are very useful. And he just straightforward and never met away..

And here's why can't rely on draft picks. A lot of times with quarterback. There's fortify quarterbacks drafted in the first round that are complete bus checkout. All these exciting shows on the underdog sports network every week on podcast one or wherever you get your favorite podcasts. This is the Steve Austin ship. Actually about other than cars. I mean, I I know I know we as we talk is a lot of times, you would just go to your, Jim. You got a bad ass jump down in Florida. And you said you spend a couple of hours training. I get that. I know you love the iron. But but what else do you do when John CENA is not working and you work in damn near twenty four seven every single day because you love to be on the road. What what what would you let us? Do you do honestly, Steve it's going to sound extremely one dimensional, but I know grazie older gentleman. That's just as one dimensional. It's going to sit at grill position tonight. I think about this. I think about. WW as a whole not just me as a performer because this this is a very ego driven selfish business, and a lot of people think of it from their perspective and not the perspective. I think of ways we can we can better the company better ourselves. I'm taking Mandarin in my off time to try to expand our markets in China because with all that going it's tough language, but we don't have enough development in China. We should be better over there. We should can't over there. And they love entertainment the economy is thriving. They've developed a strong middle class strong upper middle class, they love entertainment and WW translates language. But for some reason, they don't they don't understand what we do and for us to be able to get into a market like that. And to be able to tour over there to be able to be televised over there to be able to bring the network over there that would be an enormous financial boost to the to the machine. So in my off time, I lift I drive around from the gym to my house, and I'm trying to get us into China. I guess so how's the the Mandarin lessons going down the road? Are you? I've been studying for about a year now in my off time. So it works out to be on average two to two to four hours a week that dig this back in the day when I was living in Atlanta, Georgia started going back and forth, Japan, I figured I'd get the big idea and get one of them sixteen cassette language kits. I listened to one cassette. I could say CMO say in something else. And that was all I got. So with this process. What's your what's your you got an instructor work? Do. I'm not good with the cassettes with the web. Like they wanna do. Facetime stuff. I'm good like this talking with someone because they can get a feel for me. They can get a feel for what I want out of the language how I to communicate. So I have a good tutor, and we meet whenever I can it's it's not much time. So it's going to be I think in a year, I would be the equivalent of like. Achieving like, a freshman education in man's regret. So it's going to take a long time got you. But China will always be there. I like I said I keep saying I do this you over to work in man in here in your bus. And I talked to you on occasion. Huff we talk, man. I every couple of months, I'll be listening. It's not long enough because you always have insightful advice. I remember a store between you, and I just and it's always been oddly enough, you've always just been kind of a ship passing in the night. But I remember after it'd been awhile since you've been back which around and I was on smackdown. And I had seen the worst of times like when everybody was gone, and they brought up the Lovie w class, and we were doing, you know, events in DC was seven hundred people paid, right?.

So just a quick inside bid. Here. I've only been producing Steve show for maybe the last year and a half. So I was not working on some of these episodes that I am bringing to you. That was on the dough to be network that Steve did with John. And it is not it is actually an episode of the Steve Austin show wet Steve did on a tour bus with John. I believe it is John's tour bus this is around the time if you remember elimination chamber twenty fourteen it's right before that John just lost Randy Orton at the war rumble, and he's a indie elimination chamber coming up, but the Wyatt's have something to say about that and cause him to be eliminated in the elimination chamber that year John goes on to face Bray, Wyatt at wrestlemainia thirty in New Orleans. "Chances are you'll get it because you would've thought about. In in in watched back on on film and take an infinite out a different way to do it. But nobody takes a hip toss like Harley race accent Harley race, if you cannot mimic stuff like that. There's just certain things that that they look cool because that person makes it look cool. If you try it is not going to look the same. So isn't I have a curriculum where we're gonna start at the beginning walking locking up basic basic fundamentals, and then we're going to build where you can have a fifteen to twenty minute match. You will you're going to be able to tell a story and by the end of sixteen weeks, not going to be anything Briscoe funk or Shawn Michaels triple h won't be won't be in that category after sixteen weeks if you don't have any experience, but we'll get you to where you can tell a story in a wrestling match for fifteen or twenty minutes. But he I I have a curriculum. I've got a sixteen week program worked out in. But it's a it's a living document I like to think back in a day, and you got into business before I did. But by the time, I came around to US w nine hundred ninety we would be in Nashville at fairgrounds and Nashville isn't facility where the hills dressed on one side of the building and the baby's dressed on the other side of the building. And this is when everybody was still calling matches the ring, and you know, I was totally new to the territory and all of a sudden Frank morale or that other guy Paul would come over and say, so and so's good. Hitch with his finish tonight or you're going to catch something quick on. So and so and that was it, dude. That was all you knew going to the rings. I'm sitting there thinking I want and that was very nervous. But on the other hand, you know, when I look back, I didn't have anything to remember. There was nothing to forget. Because I had nothing to remember. So, you know, as green as I was, and I was only Steve Austin, and I would become stunning Steve Austin, but I find it had a character back. Then I can totally Ben that character because I wouldn't try to remember move after move after move the business has changed and sped up. It's so as baseball, I mean, we'll baseball slowdown, but athletes are better athletes to football football gist played at light speed. That's almost like a video game. What are your thoughts on just and this is not an indictment on the system? This is just a way pro wrestling slash sports, entertainment has evolved going back from the days and like like you were saying coming up on stuff and late sixties seventies. And I told you yesterday on the phone my favorite period was at mid eighties. Midsouth NWEA style. What were you thoughts on the way, the business has evolved into really no high spots and to a couple of high spots, and to you know, ninety three steamboat savage and attitude Eric you'll come out of that great stuff from the mid eighties. And now with short attention span theater. The guys and gals are such tremendous athletes much more athletic, and we were but the business has spent up as well. What are your thoughts on that? I think it isn't in inevitable that the world is going to change. I mean, we have to accept that yet. One thing. One thing I do not believe we'll ever go away or the fundamentals and basics. It's still blocking and tackling. When you come right down to it it eating football can change baseball. Everything's gonna change no doubt. Because he will demand faster newer, brighter. Shinier? Gimme something new. They are better athletes. No doubt. But they're missing the things that we had because. Oh, things don't exist anymore. They're missing the veteran. At the end of his leg at the end of his time working with you every night telling you when the slowdown now come up now. No too fast. And then mcdown you they're messing that because it doesn't exist anymore..

"That's what makes you you with that uniqueness of understanding how how much of an influence you are on this business to this day. And yet you can still understand what it's like when you first started. And I think again, it doesn't matter what you say to people that are does the they'll always remember how you made them feel, and that's that's not everybody has that quality or or ability to that. That's a huge thing in wrestling's communicating with people communicate communicating with your fans with your audience in it during the nineties men, you you took it by storm. Once you became stone, cold Steve Austin and wants things fell into place. My god. I gotta work Vince McMahon think about that. But I can tell the story real quick about thins because we used to train he wanted trade. Sometimes. Eleven o'clock at night just for this match with you, and he was going to get juice. I don't know if it's the first match or second match, but I had to make his blade that night. So I'm making Vincent man's. I played in his life. Hey, and he's working with the hottest superstar in the business at that time. So he gets used during the match and I come back, and I would never go into his office. Never after unless I was really needed to go. There didn't need to go. The I was so happy for him that he got used blade that night. And I went back of what a job that was great. He goes, I didn't never had to use it. What do you make? 'cause no he cracked me hardware look here on top of his head. He hit him with a chair splitting wide open. But you know, that was kinda guy. He was he was ready for the play. But once once you are way to me didn't need it. A guess you're together was trying to advance back in the day when I was working with him. I'm the guy, man. Are they ever knew that all what what you did my go to the studio? And yet it again, you know, I was I was just moved to Stanford to not not that law. Maybe you're two years. I guess whenever you work with him. I don't I don't remember the year, but we would come to the studio with that ring was the hated to serve because all the bumps but sometimes. I would want to train eleven o'clock at night because he'd been working all day. So I was I was at you know, I was on and time back then and our boss, and in fact, we even for the cage match retook the bump on the table. He measured that out at the studio, and he got up on the cage, the cage on the ring and everything we measured it, and he put the vote pads and everything else he took the bump. I think he took it like three times. And I've got it got it. And sure enough during the match he bounced on Dale didn't break, but that was that was a Memphis at the pyramid. And I remember that Saint Valentine's day massacre. And he told me about taking it bump, and I didn't it didn't have any knowledge of it until that day, and as okay, so you'll here's how it's going to go down, and I was going to balance his head off at top that cage, and he was in a spring back and landed at table now had he landed just six to nine inches further and towards the center that table in that sweet spot he'd have been just fine, but it didn't kicked his heart as they could. But he landed right on to edge at spine of that table. Which is the worst. Place that you could land, dude. I was up there on that cage. I saw his head whip down. Like, I was watching it in slow motion right node, like the sale myself on his bump was like shoot. I'm thinking Jesus Christ. Are you shitting me this just happened?.

It's a maroon car with two black stripes across the hood and down the back deck. And I believe I'm going to change that car into a Cortes silver and two black stripes and not use z. Twenty-eight stripes that were specific to the nineteen seventy four year model Camaro and I'm thinking about, yeah. Wigging out the three fifty. It's a numbers matching car. I'm thinking about going LS motor with a four hundred to four hundred fifty horsepower. I will keep it an automatic annum. Looking forward to get that project done and start the transformation. I haven't messed with a car and a long time and going back to my seventy-one Firebird formula seventy three Camaro some of the other hot rods ahead way back in the day, and I'm looking forward to getting his project going and cruising around mean streets in Los Angeles, and I'm probably going to end up driving cardinal Vata where that's where I will enjoy that thing. But anyway, good trip down to Texas. It's good to be back here in California. And just in two days, we are headed to the silver state heading down to the broken skull ranch. Two point zero for hopefully about two weeks. I know we're gonna make week ten days, but hopefully we'll get a chance to spend a couple of weeks down there when films videos, Radna buggies, four wheelers, Madera back down. There continued affects my shop, get everything prepped up. Over there. But nonetheless, I got along as podcast today with a guy that you guys have been requesting back on the show. Ted, Fowler, three, six, one joins Mona show today. You guys been sending me emails and tweets on my Twitter account. Winstead Ted going to be back on the show. Well, he's back today and we're talking about every single thing under the sun from hunting to programming watching stuff on TV. We'll cover longmire the show that my wife and I are watching. I'm really enjoying that show just kicked into season two. They're starting to plan. A bunch of seeds will come up later episodes. I'm assuming so it's very enjoyable show a love. The fact that long Myers Ravin at ninety four, four Bronco and looks about like mine other than the fact that has got a maroon strap. Mine's got a silver stripe, and I'm gonna give me some wheels online. That's mother-in-law project. I'm working on some different wheels. I got the shitty stock wheels that they came with and I'm gonna upgrade knows probably while I'm over Nevada, taking care of business. But anyway, mid teddy shooting the breeze for about an hour and a half..
