"Across subway lines. A commuter rail halted after nine and on weekends and no ferry service at all big cuts as the tea is almost a half a billion in the writ. Ridership has dropped like the proverbial stone since the pandemic hit, for example, that he says fairies are averaging seven passengers. A day and what was here may not be here again, says nbt, a GM Steve attack. We're going to try to be thoughtful and responsive to two ridership, trends and friends and demand the state is reporting nearly 1200 newly confirmed covert 19 cases, bringing the total to nearly 168,000. I'm down. Nightside with Dan Ray until you BZ Boston's NewsRadio just follow what John said a tough, hard hitting article in The Boston Globe. Tomorrow morning. I'm sure All of you will read it when you get your globe. Joe Biden is bringing dogs back to the White House, including a shelter pup named Major. So once again, the globe doing some fine investigative Hurricane shell. Biden, Can you imagine a a story like that about Donald Trump? Probably not. Let's go to Ken in Wisconsin. I can't welcome. How are you tonight? And good area, Dan. Hey, great. Thanks for holding all I appreciate your patients go right ahead. I just want to contribute some information that Wisconsin voting this there's been some controversy of the Trump campaign has accused Wisconsin There's more votes and registered voters. But the thing about Wisconsin is that they permit on side registration when you're voting, so this database that they're going on doesn't reflect all those people have registered the day of the their vote. And you see what I mean? Yes, I do. Yes, I do know there was someone who called in the other night and made the point that I think it was. Wisconsin had had Mohr People vote that we registered voters and I was able to very, very quickly come up with the numbers and I I think it was three point to roughly three point till million people voted in Wisconsin. But the registration bases like 3.6 million, So it was a trained his voter turnout, But it was not anywhere near more than 100%. Yeah, I I I think I heard that, too. But it's a Kanaan to say that. Dated today. The onside registered voters worn in the database that everybody was going on. I don't know. I get that totally getting close. No, I get the point. Wisconsin of a good system had lots of early voting. It was easy. It'd to vote on sighted over. Well, the library's etcetera So let me ask you a question if I could. Um, in Massachusetts. I voted in the final election. The November 3rd election. By mail. Um, I had I had to request a ballot in both the primary in September and the election in November. 3rd. As it turned out, I did not use I? I took my my my ballot. Ah and I requested. I requested a mail in ballot, but I didn't get it in time. I did eventually receive it, but I didn't want to risk it. So I actually voted the Saturday before the election in the primary. I did use the mail in ballot on November 3rd, but I had to request it in Newham in rather in Wisconsin. Did they just send them out to all registered voters? Or did they did you have to make an affirmative request? I got one in the mail without re question it, But that's the voting was so accommodating just to go to one of the polling places and boat ahead of time couldn't been easy. But I understand that you understand why I said that's the difference, you know. Do you understand why I said my system in Massachusetts ism ism or foolproof system than the Wisconsin system? I'm sure that canal at who knows who's looking in this address where I'm at now, right? And if all of a sudden you live in an apartment complex And and you notice that there's a bunch of ballots hanging around and you happen to be so motivated. You scooped those ballots up. You fill them out. You sign a name? You put him in the mail and they're in the system. No, I didn't think anything about threw it away because I knew I was going to vote in here. An honest person, though you're I'm not not. Everybody's that honest. Oh, I know that. Undoubtedly it is putting that much effort into voting, so I don't think it was a big deal out of it. There's a lot of passion and I'm sure there are people who would take advantage of the system and I just think this system The system needs to be as foolproof. It's never going to be perfect, but you can't make it easy for those who would abuse the system. I mean, no, I agree. I agree, And that's why I think that's why they have gas registers it stores if they said if they said to everybody. Hey, look. Um, come on in. Take what you need. And then the honor system like you, Goto If you ever go to a little farm stand somewhere out in the in the boonies. There's nobody there, you know, They asked you to put some money in, you know, weigh your tomatoes or whatever. And most people do the right thing. But try doing that with a supermarket. It wouldn't work. Uh, no working here you like. I mean, I think a lot of effort needs to go into figuring out that this most important thing that we that we have, I would think With this system we have in place that something could be done. I don't know how to identify everybody. But there must be a different way of doing it..

"Be seeing a lot more that think about it, then its biggest man on the floor is well. Moussa Buddies 69 but he doesn't guard him. That was Justin Anderson, 66 Anderson Baker, on a three moves it right for chosen drives along the baseline out a moose in the corner, hesitated Clark all over him. Moussa working underneath with a reverse it, its good John and Moosa. Finding a scene could be a good opportunity. Good window on a lot of minutes for Moosa to show what he could do. The youngest player on the Nets, rosters John and Moosa even younger than Nicholas Claxton. Turned 21 back in May in the lane, Augustine leans in on, Rosa knocks down a twisting runner, and he got fouled by Rosa as deejay Augustine, who kind of looked they look like mirrors of each other. She owes a in Augustine. And that time Augustine able to find the contact on CEOs and puts it in and have a chance of a three point play. Obviously, I'm looking over the coach Steve Attack composed this guy up there happens. Chios is saying the same. CJ Augustine 5 11 £183. Free throw is good. Orlando with a 17 13 lead, 5 12 to go first quarter nets in their white with the black letters and numbers moving left to right, Chios Aaron hi screen at all the rights tied to Moussa in the corner Camera three. And it's good for TLC and excellent offense that Tam against zone defense shows that got into the teeth and I like the way Musa on the cat's long it with a sideways pass. Augustine out of the right side past. Moussa down the lane, Right Hands. Group off the window. No good rebound, bat around and take a bite. She goes on the run for the Nets. She owes a stops back it out. Mussa steps into a wide open three trains it Nets three for 12. Here in the early going from behind the arc it they take the lead. 1917 4 Have to go in the first really good, good minute and 1/2 by Moussa right now scorn assisting. And it's out of the right wing gives it up top for Birch foul line jumper in and out. No good tapped by Tyler Johnson headed CEOs and it's running must've veers left jump pass back out to Tyler Johnson for a straight on three, and it's good. And yet to me two threes in a row, and they take a 20 to 17 lead with 4 10 to go in the first quarter, playing with that carried energy and pace, getting up and out, running the floor and shooting a ball, passing it quickly and shoot and with confidence. Go ahead and outweigh the way everyone it'd be barstools reacting. This is kind of the reason you don't see journalism done unwell anymore because my by generate like younger people look at that screen shot and say oh steve's attacking this fucking guy right. You know what i mean. There's a reason it's not done that way anymore because people get so offended and they're accusing me of this. I guess yeah. I don't know what it worked his advantage to turn it into an accusation. Well i mean yeah. I mean he's. He muddied the water yeah. I i mean i don't feel like much. "So powerful that he's considered a contender for president of the United States in the upcoming nineteen twenty election and Dwayne yes but who got the vote in twenty all laid as you make all my hands of Batman Lady of overdose Ku Klux Klan that's great. That's a great way to remember that okay so while empower memberships grow dramatically it within the K._K._k.. Indiana or just in general mainly an Indiana the N._F._l.. So in Indiana alone membership grew to nearly three hundred thousand or you could think of it as one third of all white males in the state Jesus yes <music> because remember he's he's like he speaks very well. He's very charming and he's the Dragon. He's the dragon so I WANNA say goes dragon in the imperial wizard so he kinda rains hype man. Yes the hype man for the grant wizard. The imperial was imperial wizard yet so he not only has Indiana but he has twenty two other other states of the northern states. That's his what do you call it <hes> domain no. I don't know all a dragon would have a domain. Yes yes <hes> so in in nineteen twenty four by the age of thirty. Three Steve is a multimillionaire. He's living in a large mansion any of the staff of several bodyguards. He has a small small fleet of cars a personal train and even a yacht on Lake Erie. This is crazy. <hes> <hes> he also is just becoming very very cocky and he he would repeatedly say I am the law in Indiana. This is all gross <hes> <hes> he is publicly racists ACIS and he's against people who sleep around <hes> he's against alcohol in immoral books and movies but at the same time he's GonNa say let me guess how he's living him life <hes> <hes> <hes> at the same time he's having orgies in his mansion. He's an alcoholic in a sexual deviant that enjoyed <hes> degrading and humiliating women and I'm so surprised <hes> yeah because you you always face value right yeah no no all right so in early nineteen twenty four one one woman charges Steve with a seduction and he ended up paying her off then other women are coming forward and he starts bribing local officials to look the other way so steve is in politics and he starts heavily supporting <hes> Republican Ed Jackson who runs for Governor in nineteen twenty four and he wins with with the support of Steve and others interesting so Steve is at the governor's Commencement Party. N._E._C.'s beautiful young woman there in it's our friend manage over page <hes> he instantly attracted to her and he keeps asking her out throughout the night and she has no smitten no no <hes> <hes> but he wears her down and so she says yes and they start going on a couple dates in she like these are getting kind of intertwined in each other's lives she you like starts acting as his aid during the nineteen twenty five session of the General Assembly and she's like carrying messages from his office down to his friends and she also helps awesome right A. Nutrition book called one Hundred Years of health and she plans to use her reading circle connections to help sell the book to school libraries as throughout the state interesting development <hes> in this. I found different versions of the story. I'm sure debate yeah. I'M GONNA go with the Smithsonian's version but I'm GONNA mention this other one so some accounts say that she found out he was part of the K._K._k.. And was like I'm done. I'm out <hes> and then other no are no and then what what happens next happens. <hes> and other people are like no she didn't know anything yet and and she gets home on Sunday March fifteenth at around ten PM and she'd been out with a friend in her mom tells her that Steve's secretary had called the house looking for her k. and he was like hey. I'm going to Chicago and I want you to just come over and say goodbye <hes> in so she's like okay that sounds great and so he he sends over a bodyguard and he picks her up in in a car and he drives her down to his mansion. <hes> because you know ladies aren't driving driving early in so she gets there in she can see that he's wasted and he's in the kitchen and he starts trying to get her to drink and he he gets her to drink more and more and more until she becomes sick and she doesn't want to drink but he's like pressuring her to and he's like you need to come to Chicago with me like come to Chicago and and she's like no like I need. I need to go home and next thing she knows she's being shoved into his car by the bodyguards and they start driving to a union station and then these kidnapping her <hes> and then they drager out of the car onto seve's private train Anza private true ooh yeah and they push Own Steve Attacks her he starts raping and beating her and he starts viciously biting her all over her body and this is including her face her neck check her breasts back legs ankles and tongue in finally the pain is so bad that she just passes out dude yeah <hes> so the train is going along and eventually it stops in Hammond Indiana and they like the bodyguards and seed like puppet her off the train into a hotel hotel called the Indiana Hotel in they get her up to this room and so at this point may just just like in unimaginable bull like pain amy and she's like gone through hell and she she's like with Steve and Steve's Kinda like passed out asleep and she sees this gun in his pocket so she grabs now's the gun and she's like pointing it to his head and then she's like you know what this would dishonor me and my family like I can't do this. I'm GonNa just kill myself I can't I can't live like this. I can't live after going through this and so she like tiptoes into the next room and she's like preparing for it you know and then one of the bodyguards comes in and says she like scurries off she hides and then she liked puts the gun back into his pocket and like goes to sleep and so the next morning Steve Wakes up and she's like hey you know I just really want to go to the local drugstore to bring it any my makeup like an Isam Rouge. He's like okay fine a have a bodyguard. Take you down there so she goes to the drugstore she buys an entire box of mcgurk chloride tablets. Can I go and so this used to be. We used to disinfect wounds in the Middle Ages and the doctors in the U._S.. Started using it to treat syphilis but patients would often get mercury poisoning poisoning in 'cause you're essentially it's mercury. Oh Yeah and so at high doses that is Lethal Jack Day. People were weird about them mercury. It's a cure Algebra what could go wrong so she gets back to the room and she's like trying to figure out how she can take these pills in the at the same time. There's all these those huge bite marks all of our money. That's just like essentially gaping holes will mouser dirty yes in there like bleeding and she hasn't gone any care here for them and so she finally she's at the drugstore when she gets them like Louis. She's GonNa. She's GonNa commit suicide at this point. Oh that's right so she'll she ends up taking six tablets. It's and she starts vomiting blow. She's got him. I saw in my head. She was going to poison him. No remember that would dishonor her and her family because she's a nice person okay so steve so she's vomiting blood in Sivas like oh I would love to help you. I would love to take you to the hospital but you're going to have to go to this chapel down the street and Mary me I yes because if you're my wife you can't charge me with stuff Babo Bobo Bobo boss. You can't rape your wife. Yes right now yeah yes. I know I get your sarcasm. Yes <hes> so this goes on for the next twenty four hours. She's vomiting blood. She has open wounds and he's like I would love to help you but and she's saying I don't want to go to the chap. She's Kinda holding ground on that part yet. I'M NOT GONNA go Mary you. I can't hear monster <hes> so finally he sees that it's getting serious so he has two of his bodyguards rent a car and driver back to her parents home in Indiana where they drop her off late that night night and they say she was in a car accident <hes> her parents immediately call Dr in while at the hospital. <hes> May Jr tells her mom what had happened her. Mom writes it all down and she signs her confession. Mad then dies on April Fourteenth nineteen twenty five from a staph infection from the bites plus kidney failure from the mercury poisoning Lord <hes> so Steve is taken in on charges of kidnapping rape in second degree murder and although his lawyers argue that Maj committed suicide the doctor testifies that her mutilation injuries alone were sufficient to cause her death <hes> the doctor describes bribes for wounds as similar to having been chewed by Cannibal best crazy <hes> she was chewed by cannabis. Yes <hes> he also states that by failing willing to take any action to help her for twenty four hours. He basically killed her yeah. The jury convicts Steve Of all counts and this is impressive like he's getting bright. Once yes us for the level he time yeah <hes> and he sends to life in prison and a little side note. This case is still used in law school today really <hes> I thought that was a little fact <hes> okay but there's more so this case can had a butterfly effect in that so during the trial a lot of clans members become outraged by the violent Stephen Flick did on Maj so much so that entire chapter started to quit and then Oh wow memberships dropped by the tens of thousands this is impressive <hes> and after being denied a part in nineteen twenty six by his old buddy governor Jackson Steve Starts Talking to the Indiana Indianapolis Indianapolis Times in he starts giving copies of letters and checks on the names of officials who had accepted bribes and payments from the clam he starts singing <hes> in after a thorough investigation the state friendly <hes> takes in several high ranking officials including Steve's Buddy Governor Ed Jackson thin and the head of the Republican Party a local county other local officials resigned when facing charges so they're like <hes> I'm just I'm not going to start the the The Times investigation revealed widespread political corruption which helped destroy the clan in Indiana and nationwide by February of Nineteen Twenty eight Indiana Indiana Klan Rosters had dropped to just four thousand from a peak of more than two hundred fifty thousand members in nineteen twenty five what just over this scandal the ripples of crazy crazy. I got goosebumps yeah that because like I know you wouldn't expect not that like this was such Asia under this like one thing that happened between two people yeah horrific but they caused this like crazy Cuco people contemporary club and I'm not cool with what this guy did <hes>. I'm out yeah yeah impressive. I love it so back to Steve. Steve is paroled. He had he was still life. Okay he was paroled on March twenty third in nineteen fifty but he he violates the conditions of his parole disappearing and he is captured in nineteen fifty one in his order to serve another ten years <hes> he's paroled on December twenty second nineteen fifty six on the condition that he leave Indiana and never return normally in paroled. You can't yeah they're like you've got to get out of here. Outta not here <hes> in so in nineteen sixty one steve is arrested in Tennessee. He's about seventy years old and it right now on charges of trying to force two sixteen year old girl into his car to sexually assault her the judge finds him three hundred dollars any walks free and and he dies five years later in nineteen sixty six in his fourth rott-weiss. Maybe fits wife's arms yeah Audra Yeah Yeah so that was the story of David Curtis Stevenson AK Steve Wow. Oh isn't crazy that was crazy. Yes Juicy Black Klansman when it came out so good yeah such a good movie yeah on H._B._O.. Now isn't it. Yes yeah <hes> R._A.. I had that's my that's our story. That's our episodes are stores. Were sticking to it. Yeah uh-huh Jackie now that madman is over. What are you watching listening reading camera? I guess what I started yesterday. I started watching scrubs a belief in this is your first time watching it. I watched it when it first came out so right. I don't think so we're going to enter some new territory soon as I it's funny I like it. That's why you <hes> <hes> I'm in finals week so so now solely dying inside but then he won't be in finals anymore yeah and then we'll be back in school again. It's a cycle it's weird. It won't Stop Avenue. It's great. I'm having your time. It's great new learning. I'm learning being <hes> but this brings me joy this. Every every time we get to record. "Maginness December nineteen sixty two cold and overcast day in Birmingham, Alabama. You're a forty two year old woman home for the holidays from Ohio walking back to your cousin Mary's home after seeing small friends, those children are so big now, they ought to be as much as they eat suddenly from a few blocks away. You hear a loud rumbling it, rattles. A few of the windows on the houses around you Lord that sounded like a big one. What was that thunder? Hugh really have been gone too long. You forgot what dynamite sounds like come on. Let's go see if we can help you cross the street and hurry toward the rising cloud of grey black smoke a head hoping that no one was injured. You hadn't forgotten about the bombings here. You and your cousins still refer to one neighborhood in town as dynamite hill. But you don't know if you've ever been as close to one of the blasts. It's back they bombed the church again, she shakes her head again. They've. Bombed it before this is the third time. Look there is everyone all right behind a small crowd gathering on the curb you see the shattered windows of the church and popping electrical wire dangling, shaking from the ceiling inside you point to a pair of girls sitting on the curb holding white handkerchiefs to their foreheads poetry, the handkerchief are spotted with blood from the cuts on their faces. Godless, Steve attack in a charge like that. Especially with those children's. Yes. Yes. It is the ambulance. A segregated one holds up a few moments later to take the girls to the hospital as it pulls off you and Mary start making your way back home. Retracing your steps. Dr king was back here in September here at the church. No here in Birmingham. His group had a big convention. Look for a while at the city stars might even desegregate. What happened they left everything went right back to how it was. You think it's ever going to change? I don't know the word has it. They're coming back on something big here this spring. She looks back at the smoke rising from the church. I hope they know what they're in for..

This text you and I are better together without her let sneak away soon, I have a great idea. And then put call me at work at this number and then give them our hotline number now Steve out like is he awake right now. Oh, yeah. Okay. So listen a few things could happen here. He could text back something like I'm sorry. That's not how this works. There are rules or he could call the number. We give him our hotline number which have you calls that. We know he's interested unless he's calling to say, you're sorry. That's not how this works. These are the rules. Yeah. That is a good point. Okay. All right. So here's what we'll do. We'll just say that Nikki is with like a customer something. She wants you to leave her voice mail, and then we can play a fake outgoing voice message. And we'll see what he says to the voice mail that way, you'll get to hear everything. How does that sound? If we can pull it on yellow. Yeah, we could pull it off. We're gonna find out in just so listen standby, we need Steve's number from you. We'll send the text message while we're in the break here. And then we'll see what happens with his response. And what response he gives us when we come back think you're the real deal. Big fat phony. How smarter you this early in the morning?.

"Everything entertainment i just sent steve attack entertaining one at that red we work in a grid you know that's how we lay out the show document see grid for dong idea next text song points songs song song and that is for our buddy we're gonna play him song before we get out of here but let's introduced on the hotline away from new york city people magazine's his famous jeremy said gerbera how you doing buddy i would i would stick around to hear what the dog ideas whatever that whatever that is i don't know how to tax it's all a work in progress it autocorrect words most commonly text busted got it you called jeremy was i think just about everybody in the room has some level of appreciation for chip and joanna gaines fixer upper we already missed the show what will i do with my saturdays what will you do and they're on the cover of people on the cover it had the baby number five baby crew two weeks early have you has been talking about this a lot we actually have a we talked about it sort of as the build up to fixer upper going off the air and then we've kind of been low profile on them well i'll tell you this i'm just someone being at people it's amazing the audience in the commanding audience they have and people have so much interest in them and so just this issue covers everything into their life now with this fit baby surprise baby and then the second surprise came a little early all that joanna opened up about how they're dealing with it and how for her it's kind of like she's being able to own this experience it in a fresh way almost feels new against it it's been awhile since the last kids you know there other four kids are grown up quite a bit now and so the whole family including the kids are able to kind of get in on it they talk about how the kids loved rubbing her belly and they were around for right around in the hospital and everything for the new baby so they're just having a great time with it the best part that i thought about this whole thing was that she said it it's like she feels like she's twenty five again because had the baby got a little extra chicken or step in life in general because she's back at this phase that she relates to being younger life how old is joanna what does she she's forty how she has okay all right yeah they say kids keep you young yeah so they got chips three yeah there's if you're interested in then there's a kind of deep dives there is love them and i i don't know i gotta come back eventually with the ship left coaltion i think you're right by my thought is that they go away for a couple of years and then when they come back with fixer upper to return or whatever there was somebody mentioned a thought that they could take that show on the road and go outside of their in and around fixer upper on the road with so many kids and then they're going to have a two year old at that point fast forward a couple of years down the road they're gonna wanna get away anyone who has to get out of here to shoot a show around the country is the truth i know i feel like i i drank kool aid because i put a wall up in my house i really did then when i watch fixer upper and the tv is in front of the ship lab wall i feel simultaneously proud and also.
