And now to a man who very well may be doing the business of food from the bathroom. Steve Alexander not far away. Thank you, Mr Campbell. It's Mr Fizz Friday, and he's talking about vacations. We are planning vacations going on vacations. So what do you do about your garden in your yard and your house plants while you're gone, and there are a lot of things that need to be done outside because you don't want the place look like you're gone. So let's begin with a garden and all that food. You're growing. Find somebody to pick it for you just to have some good friends that own a restaurant here and found And when we were gone, they were very curious and kind to go out and pick as many tomatoes and squash in whatever they could get their hands on as they could get While we were gone. We're glad to have them do that The whole yard needs to have water, and Jim says these next few days may bring some good rain. But that's not going to last forever and long range forecast says that by the end of this month, we're going to be back in the hard drive. As for the House plants, they're a little bit like cats. They can take a week of being by themselves, set them in a cool shaded place in your house. Not until sun. They'll be fine, and you might set them in trays of water or even in the bathtub of shallow water, not deep enough to flood them just deep enough so they can pick up moisture if they need it, And finally there's the lawn. Mow it before you go, and if you're going to be gone for a while, find somebody else to do it. But Mr Fizz says it's important that with all of the vacation help you're getting make sure it's clear what you want them to do and how So you want them to do it? Once upon a time, I was hired by a guy that said, Go cut my grass while I'm gone when I got back is well, I don't do that that way, And I'm not gonna pay you. That wasn't nice wasn't nice. So long time gardening guru, Mr Fizz, Jim fizzle at the Chicago Board of Trade Traders continue to keep an eye on the weather. There's an old saying that rain makes green. "On WGN radio. I want to talk about the cost of buying. New and used cars and what people are doing is a result of the high prices these days. Inventory is such They are like Airbnb renting other people's cars for a day or a weekend. We'll get to that in a little bit, by the way, So Mr Reston is filling in for Steve Alexander today, and he says, Okay, he looked up a little bit more about does coins. So what did you did You find out Let me ask you. Do you remember a MIM on the Internet? A number of years ago, there was a dog. You remember that? Apparently, it was kind of a smiling dog. Ay Dios. It's still pops up every now and again. I was not aware of this. But does this coin came about in 2013 to software engineers decided to make fun of Bitcoin. And they started making this worthless coin with the picture of a dog. It really has no value. I guess you could say the same about Bitcoin, but it was started as a joke. As it may 7th before align Musk appeared on Saturday night Live over the weekend Does coin is up more than 26,000%. In the last six months. 26,000% for a joke. A lot of that due to musk himself because touting on Twitter that he's done out toes over the last few months. I know he tweeted just a couple of months ago. One word on Twitter does Right and it took off crazy, which you know, makes it sound like a hustle then, but so, too, is Bitcoin. It's a limited a currency. It's a digital currency. It's crypto. It's a limited number of quote. Unquote coins have been mined, and not all of them have been purchased yet, as I understand it, and the value keeps going up. You have major financial institutions. So like Goldman, Uh, J. P. Morgan. That are adopting Bitcoin. You don't really have anybody. Adopting does coin except for the traders on Reddit, right? But a theory um, is becoming more and more popular even than Bitcoin because from the little reading I've done Bitcoin is sort of compared to digital gold. A theory. Um, is being called like digital oil because of the systems that it runs on various block chains and stuff. And it hit a new high today If you heard the report about 4000 bucks a coin for for which one if you're a thief, theory, um Mark Cuban loves it. Okay. Then you got Tesla A and does coin. Although he the reason we're bringing it up today is because does coin fell 40%. After on that Saturday night Live skit. He called it or they called it a hustle. Well, something like that. I find those centers staying. Ah, line Musk announced a month through a month and a half ago that they were going to put Bitcoin on the balance sheet for Tesla to And then he starts to promote Does coin. You don't see Tesla's and align must putting does coin balance sheet? So which one does he really like? I think it might be Bitcoin. Well, I'm gonna buy some ghost coin today. I've never done this Vicki Croke Uzi and is going to show me how to do it after the show. Well, no, It's like it's just you want to buy it when it's down. It did just drop something That was my because I'm would bothers me is the victory. Anybody that 0.4 cents a coin and it was what was it 76 cents a coin before the show, But they're now you say you want to buy what it's down. It's a relative. As I said, as a base seventh, it's a 26,000%. So are you really buying it when it's down? Or just Well, I'm hoping that we'll get to $84 Trillion and I will be really smart when I bought it in 50 cents. Good luck. That's my genius plan, Fingers crash or hope My wife's not listening. You know that guy that just been jumping in the lake every day, even though now it's just dangerously cold outside. Again. I'm still not sure that jumping into water when it's eight degrees below zero is much more dangerous than when it's 30 degrees above zero. I'm going to find a cardiologists to answer this question. 219 said John jumping into cold water like that has to have some long term effects on the shock to the heart in the system. It can't be good. Other people think it's actually good for you. It's invigorating. I don't know. That Daniel Connor is going to jump in the lake again in about a half an hour. I did buy him a life preserver and a rope. We're going to get that to him today. Then ask a doctor about that. If you're a doctor, give me a call. By the way, you know, we're losing track of some things that we otherwise might have paid a little more attention to the might have even disturbed us a little more. For the pandemic in the election and the unrest, for instance, remember how Much We discussed whether or not we'd be willing to get into driverless cars. Cars that don't worry. We got you. You don't even need you could fall asleep behind the wheel of this thing. The way I will get you where you got to go, and then cars being tested in Arizona in places. Not always without consequence, but mostly going pretty well. I'm not on that bus. I'm not ready to do that. But that seems to have sort of faded. Then moments ago our own Steve Alexander and his business report said that what was it in 2024? We're going to do air Taxi's I'm not getting in an air taxi. United Airlines placed a $1 billion order for 200 of these little better called the E V E T o l aircraft tick. Electorate, vehicle takeoff and landing and they can travel 60 miles on a charge go up 250 Miles an hour, a pilot and four passengers. And that's the way that United thinks people are going to get to the airport. Whether it's still here or midway or any other reporter to the airport. Yeah, so then I live in Schomburg or LaGrange or Chicago. And rather than fighting the Kennedy. I'll go somewhere and get in this drone, and it'll buzz me over, huh? Right? But apparently the plan. Yeah, it's got some big Worley bird things. You know, I don't. I haven't seen a picture of what it looks like A Oh yes, I have seen a picture of what it looks like. It's got the it's got the four vertical rotors right on the wings. So for the vertical takeoff and landing, Yeah. And other than that just kind of looks like a smaller craft airplane airplane with wings or more like just a bubble with the four propellers on either side. It's got the wings and it's just somebody named Timmy with the remote control on the ground, driving it. No, no, there's a pilot inside. So it's not remote control. I guess then the only troubling thing about this is it's electric powered, but it's also I don't know why I'm so nervous about this. It's just I guess it's new technology. And you think Oh, really? Is that gonna work? I guess the power and the batteries will continue to make the blade go round arounds the blades going around. You're good, right? Yeah. Um, you wanna go? I'm a little worried about the other traffic up there. You know, there you will. You will run into Timmy's drone. Yeah, there will be other other of these air taxi's going back and forth. So.

There is a discount supermarket chain in Germany called Ladell L I, d l, which is comparable to another discount German chain that we are familiar with all be in Germany, Lovell decided that the prices farmers were getting for their beef, pork and chicken were too low to sustain the kind of organic and ethical farming practices that Ladell management thought its customers would like to support. So Ladell announced it was raising the price of its meat and would pass along the price difference directly to these farmers. It seems like the right thing to do doesn't have something the ethical and ecological consumer would sure get onboard with. Many of our friends who make and lose money at the Chicago Board of Trade may want to make sure their stash of Durant Amine is replenished as we begin this trading week. Friday alone was enough to make you lose your lunch, the biggest daily percentage drop for beans since August of 18 and August of 19 for corn March Being features dropped on Friday. 4.4% down 60.5 cents at 13 09 and three quarters. Official March corn fill 4.5% down 24 cents at $5 and a quarter per bushel. We traders weren't missing out either. March, Wheat was off 3.9% 25 3 quarters sense lower at 6 35 a bushel and in the first few hours of overnight trading beans were down another nine cents. Corn was back below $5 and wheat was off three cents. Meanwhile, at the Merc, beef prices jumped on Friday. Live cattle rose 2% $2.45 101 20 to 42 feeder cattle ended 3.5% $4.90 100 at 1 44 05 And lean hogs finished out the trifecta increasing 3% $2.25 100. We'll start today's trading at 76 15. Still, if you look at where beef prices have gone since peaking in January 6 years ago, they've been on a choppy path downward back to levels that cattle producers were getting in the summer of 2011. At the same time, the prices you pay at the store have been hitting record highs. Somebody is making money and it is not the men and women who raised the cattle. One more AG related product I want to mention and that is booze. And if you're doing the dry January thing, you've only got seven days to go. Yeah, but today is National Irish Coffee Day. So good luck. The daytime markets open today. 30 Allah be back after that, with hourly market updates all the way through the wind trust business lunch. That's your money on 7 20, WGN. Any chance you could put in a good word for vaccines for man, But I think that's the first question is, When are we could get some more vaccines. What's going on? It's crazy, isn't it? Yeah, they said in Chicago, the number we where you have one in Illinois. 3.2 Million people are eligible in this new round. This one be and the state is going to have 126,000 doses. I mean, let me write that down so 3.2 million people will be eligible, but we'll only have 126,000 doses next week. So that number the 3.2 million. Those those, uh, that reflects who's eligible starting this week. So that's this phase one B. That's the people over 65 Several groups of essential workers that includes Teachers and firefighters and other frontline workers. Right? Yeah. I was looking at that list. It also includes people like grocery store work. Yes. Yeah. Okay, so And we only have 100 26,000 Vaccines 32 to 34,000 in Chicago. But 26,000 in the state just next week, so we need a lot more vaccine. Okay, I'll get on that tomorrow. Can count on me. Dr Fauci tomorrow morning between seven and 7 30 years here on the radio. So I have something from my record collection and let me tell you this. This is one. You gotta crank up. You gotta turn it way up. I know it's early. This a waking up for sure. You've heard the stories about Phil Specter, who passed away over the weekend at 81. He was a brilliant record producer and the insane guy. No question about it. And in addition to Those early hits he produced with his famous wall of sound like he's a rebel and be my baby and to do run run, he worked with John Lennon and the Beatles. He Did production work on the Let it be album. He also added strings and acquired to the long and winding road of a Paul Didn't really like all of that. I've always been a fan of that. I like all that big wall of sound. Specter also Produced All things must pass for George Harrison and the John Lennon. Imagine album and you know what he used to do. He used to mix the music and then listen to it in the studio on a little bitty speaker. Because he knew that's the way the kids were hearing the music on transistor radios, and he made these rock operas and my favorite Phil Specter production. Is the song we're gonna play for you here this morning. A lot of people think this is the greatest rock and roll record ever. Rolling Stone put it on their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. And billboard name This the number eight song on their list of the 100 Greatest Girl group songs of all time and if you if you crank this up and pay attention Phil Specter throws in just about everything but the kitchen sink before this record is over the crystals..

I can hear the cries of the Corvette purists, but an analyst for Morgan Stanley's is a Corvette sub brand could be worth several billion in sales to GM. And by the way, there is a Porsche SUV. After all, it's been after several years. Most other stocks are lower today, too, but we are seeing a recovery as volatility has calmed down a bit that the vics the CPU is vics right now is up. Only about 2.3% of the Wall Street. The markets are offered their session lows by quite a bit on the Dow right now is down about 138 points. The S and P is down 21. Let's make it the Russell 2000 while we're at it up about 15 points right now, vics, the volatility index of the CBO we is down about 1%. Shares of GM are over 2% higher as word comes out about a two part electric vehicle project called Bright to drop. The first part of that is which will be on sale soon is a battery powered wheeled palette that will take goods out of the warehouse. Two trucks and in the second is an TV delivery. Van. Which will be on the road so late this year with FedEx the company's first customer. Potential market. Drivers today include the November jolts job report. Joel stands for job openings and labor turnover survey. It shows 6.52 million job openings in November. That's pretty much the stays right around there has stayed around the 6.5 million For most of the 2020 and most of those openings air in the manufacturing sector. Also coming out today, the Department of Energy January crude oil output forecast that comes out at 11 o'clock, same time on the egg front. The attack on the Capitol did not slow down the rally on Wall Street as traders had their eyes on the additional stimulus expected from the soon to be Democratic controlled Senate and house. The Dow was up 1.4% yesterday of the S and P up just over half percent. The only the NASDAQ, where there is concerned about higher taxes on tech companies was lower off just over a half percent. And that rally has carried over to this morning. In a first half hour of trading, the Dow was up 226 points back above 31,000 and 31,055 s and P is up 47 points and 37 95. And the NASDAQ is up a big 258 points at 12,000 Men right at 13,000. Now up just over 2% volatility is measured by the vics of the CBO. We is down about 10% right now. Walgreens Boots announced its quarterly earnings this morning. And it is right now leading the Dow 30 industrials up right around 5% After beating the street on both revenue and earnings. The trade deficit was announced by the Commerce Department short time ago. And the deficit jumped to $68.1 billion in November as a surge of imports overwhelmed a smaller increase in exports overall year to year. There's a better 14% gain. In the trade deficit compared to the same period in 2019 President Trump had insisted that his get tough trade policies with the rest of the world would shrink the deficit. And bring back American jobs. But that is not proven out. Checking commodities crude oil up a nickel $50.58 at the Chicago Board of Trade, Wheat is down about three and three quarters Sense beans are given back about 14 cents. "By Ace the helpful place Saturday morning at six. Beginning January, 2nd. 25 minutes before six o'clock here on the Saturday morning show a sprinkling of snow overnight Maura than a sprinkling in some areas of the Midwest. And the one thing you that I just got in an email from a loser Who said you haven't given the coronavirus numbers yet, because during my career here at W. GM, we've done many numbers like the arrival of cattle, the arrival of hogs at the Chicago Union Stockyards. And now, unfortunately, more recently, we tend to give the count on the corona virus spread. Not going to give all the numbers, but it's interesting because the numbers and these stories on my writer scream that I'm looking at right now. It. Talks about Thailand reporting 216 new cases of coronavirus. Germany has confirmed coronavirus cases increased by 12,000. 690. Then we get the Russian report 26,301 new coronavirus cases. And 447 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, and it goes on and on and on is I go up and down the Reuters screen. Look at the various headlines and just about every other line has a Corona virus count. So be careful and knew what they're suggesting. We do. And aside. I've said too many of my friends. We're a mask. Don't shake hands and stay away from people. That seems to be what we got to follow until the vaccine finally shows it worth. And I remember the polio epidemic of the mid 19 fifties. When you didn't dare go anywhere. You didn't dare shake hands with anybody. And then suddenly, Dr Jonas Salk came along with the vaccine, and it changed life immediately for all of us in the U. S, and in the world. But I still have friends for my high school days who are crippled because of the polio epidemic back in the 19 fifties. Welcome now to Samuelson says, and thank you for putting up with my thoughts and opinions, and you haven't been too nasty. But despite the fact that I tell you, I'm not going to talk politics on, Samuelson says. You continue to say Oh, yeah. You were talking. I could tell in the tone of your voice that you were talking politics, But I go on to say that I'll never tell you who my choices are for public office and S O. I stay away from the political world because that's where so many media people And viewers and listeners are today. But, Samuelson says has given me the opportunity to hopefully generate some new thinking and generate some new opinions and feelings about the way of life here in the U. S. Politically and beyond, and I will miss doing that. But I think I pretty much run my course, and it's been taken over by. Ah lot of people who express opinions. In media and in conversation with friends and neighbors. My dad always haven't wind that he left with me when I was growing up. He said. Don't talk about religion and politics. Because if you do, you'll lose a lot of friends and I pretty much tried to stay with that thesis from my father. Years ago. I am not get involved in political or religious discussions with neighbors and family and friends. Probably a good way. Tonto survive holidays when families get together And you never know what subjects are going to come up. But keep reading and listening and trying to understand And to me. The one thing I've learned about communications is The Fact that I make my living talking. I find that listening is the most important part of my lifetime. Because until I listen to what you're saying, and what you're thinking I really can't respond to you because I haven't heard what you have said so. Give other people the opportunity, Tonto think and react and then don't get into a political fight with him. Those are my thoughts on, Samuelson says at 18 minutes before six o'clock news time here on W G. M. So thanks You, Mary, who runs the shop for us and all of the other people that I've had the opportunity to work with. Thank you for continuing to realize that agriculture Is an important part of our economy and an important part of our well being. That is, Samuelson says. And we have the Steve Alexander standing by. He's going to join us here on the Saturday morning show with one of my favorite subjects to talk about safety on the farm. And we'll get to his report and his guest when we continue here on this Saturday morning, so Macy's after Christmas sale is going on now, with an extra 20% off with your coupon or Macy's card That's on top of great deals like 50 to 60% off coats for the whole.
