"It's the Saturday night show once again here's build huge Simonsson tomorrow for eastern one Pacific number for San Diego state looks to continue their undefeated season when they face Boise state only on the CBS sports television network we do have a Kenyan an ecig they're producing the show back at CBS sports radio in New York City John fast another update here in about twenty minutes swift moving show how the Astros story seems to be bigger after the press conference in the back and forth comments then it was a week ago Kris Bryant McKeon said here this audio this was Kris Bryant roasting the Astros a lot of the apology yesterday was lot about two thousand seventeen two thousand seventeen it's like I'm pretty sure it was going on says anything to on nineteen to like in that that that that this is so sad because like just because you I mean if they didn't get caught they'd still be doing it and you know there's only doing this apology because they got caught and that's it's yeah I mean there's a lot of feelings on it and I know everybody else around the league is really upset and rightfully so because it's really a disgrace to the game this is this is people's livelihoods to that they're they're messing with like guys never pitching game since then guys have won awards that maybe they shouldn't of one who knows I mean yes certainly counts ball players but you know I I personally think it's worse and steroids really do I mean it's Serra do you still have to compete hit the ball you know it's coming I mean office off of these pictures like guys own you know upper nineties with really good curveballs insiders and you can totally formulated unbelievable game plan based on certain things if you know what they're coming like it's just frustrating in I mean they're in there have tough year this year for sure I mean I I got booed really loud in Saint Louis and they're gonna get while everywhere they go rightfully so well Chris Ryan of the cubs and maybe with another team soon who knows dusty Baker is asking Major League Baseball to tell other teams not to comment on the Astros gosh and then from Thomas Boswell I heard this story yesterday too he's with the Washington post Kurt Suzuki as every from CBSSports dot com whose nationals adds the Astros in seven games to win the World Series this past season he says Houston was stealing signs during the two thousand and nineteen fall classic this is suki was asked a question by balls well do you think the Astros are still cheating in the nineteen World Series yeah no question Suzuki said we could hear it from their dugout we heard there whistling what are you going to do I got a couple of big strike outs when their crowd was so loud they could hear the whole thing was crazy I got messed up on signs a couple of times said to call time and take us out of rhythm I kept thinking we have to go to the field and work early on our signs in the World Series just the stop there cheating it's so stupid been so wrong well yes so the whistling hello to replace the trash cans right but that World Series is kind of crazy yeah the visiting team what all their games the nets did in Houston and did the cheating guarantee you because at seventeen roster for the Astros and even nineteen of nineteen was pretty darn loaded wasn't it as Johnny bench said on the Dan Patrick show if I would have known what pitch was coming I could have hit seven hundred that's like softball you know where it's coming you can just crank on the store is not going away you get Kurt Suzuki talking about whistling in cheating two thousand and nineteen World Series you get qureia talking about a tad too and that's why all to me was hold is sure to needed it'll bang the drum okay what about the whistling them then Kurt Suzuki are we just gonna call him a liar believe all the Astros dusty Baker you asking them OB to have other teams not comment on the hand strolls don't throw bean balls and I don't agree with that other groups somebody getting hurt or it'll take it of regular Brister get no baseball to the chair and I I don't agree with that but look how the story we'll tell the story just keeps unfolding and like I said there will be more not just major league players there will be somebody on two thousand and seventeen two thousand eighteen two thousand nineteen if the cheating was going on they'll be people talking their conscience with a munity they can still tell the story now again I don't know what that agreement once was a non disclosure both sides nobody can talk I don't know there's no freedom of information act that all of us can have access as fans and the media to what this deal was with the Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball we don't know what the parameters were I think the more I look at it rob Manfred did not suspend the entire Astros roster it would decimate one of his biggest franchises money lost no TV ratings so he decided to do the amenity thing suspend him sh in lieu now four year but then Mister crane the older who up until that scripted PR press conference this week has been pretty forthright honest up front then I thought as I said a week ago on the show had been brutally honest about the severity of what went on instead the other players back maybe he listens to Houston sports radio writers everybody in Houston they don't have an issue with it not the end of the day does Jim crane care what people in southern California New York Boston Chicago Miami Heat Birmingham Charlotte Salt Lake City or Seattle say about his team no he cares about is local advertisers sponsors partners and the players that he has signed contracts so you did not an about face for the kind of shifted with a strong arm then wrapped his arms around his baseball team at the end of the day everybody is above the almighty dollar that's what is this it's about making money across the board it is about making cash still to blood in California thanks to the weight of the Saturday night show your brother doing good buddy I had allowed the astro they were gonna take today that was the name of my little league team I played back in the seventies if I was going to take the day like the big fight is going to take the name of the team away from the kids so there's two little leagues in southern California that of bay on the Astros logo and seen name from jerseys in their little licks yes I play back in the seventies amasses warning that big of a popular names like imagine now there was a point I talked about that Springer show that I used to work on I wrote the book and doing the movie thing yes I got a book deal and that we do the movie you're a big guy obviously because they they do charge if you want to play maybe one of the security guards in the movie review that will take you but I appreciate you listening there in palm springs California thanks to love yeah my only movie acting I was a voice guide the Kurt Russell movie football movie touch back it's good movie they had like a hundred ten lines but is it I did the old arlis HBO series when I was working in Chicago we did the vendor Holyfield in the Dolph Lundgren play in German boxer I think it was a in our list was the HBO comedy is well done to look at Ellis smoke was my broadcast partner when I was in Chicago and we filmed an HBO promo and they had a spot in the series but then the vendor Holyfield the boxer was chewing on a snickers bar and the director for our lists and everybody you know it is true one on a snickers bar and they're trying to film everything that's it and then the NFL blitz two thousand one two thousand and two I'm one of the voices on there you go but I just gave you my resume speaking to Chicago Bob listening on AM six seventy the score here on the Saturday night a huge show thanks yeah I was that I certainly think something half that happened with the Astros more than what happened but I think we your producer somebody talk about banning them from the whole season for a couple years and I think the issue with that is that a fact competitive balance and you have to like to be the rays win ninety five games in your wild card could begin if one hundred games and meanwhile the Astros win ninety five games D. A.'s win eighty six and they get the win a division because the actual can call you you have to do something with the playoffs to make sure it did AL west of the get the benefit of having only fourteen dollars will part of playoffs versus the rest of of baseball if you were if you were going to do that so I I just don't see how that would work in terms of combat in the back so what do you think would be just lard just punishment for the Astros yeah that's the top that's a tough call because you're talking about even if you're talking about banning players that also a fax that their competitive balance you know you could you could take away you could take away the the title like you said what you know the fans at all if you look at the at least the one that World Series even though it doesn't exist I mean colleges get titles vacated in India really think the colleges universities and fans feel like they didn't actually win something so I I just don't know what the higher it's a tough call but but I'm how you could do something like they end up in the post season they're not affected by the balance with the rest of the week thanks for the call from beautiful Chicago listening on AM six over the the score if you want to join in one eight five five two one two for CBS but it's one eight five five two one two four two two seven at Saturday you'll jun Twitter Chuck metals is listening in White House Tennessee he tweets said Saturday huge I can see where you're coming from but I don't see the Astros voluntarily vacate even the two thousand and seventeen World Series title any time soon Ryan Kelly tweet said Saturday he healed from Clanton Alabama the Astros organization should be banned for one year completely from any participation in a post season probation for one year for every year they cheated and tried to hide it thank you Brian and Clanton Alabama hi Jim Harlan says Aaron Gordon got robbed they don't contest sterling Jones one of stay thirsty tweet said Saturday huge what exactly was the Astros punishment hinge and the GM were punished and may never work in baseball again with the Astros have a new GM and new manager where is the punishment Manfred failed here suspend players yeah the girls qureia one villager talks about that we cheated for three years he either doesn't know how to read is really bad at reading comprehension or is just not informed at all two thousand eighteen nothing happened two thousand and nineteen nothing happened but then Kurt Suzuki of the Washington nationals they have no reason to be better they won the World Series we talk about the whistling not going away man and I'm telling you some players are going to talk they're going to there will be some conscience cleansing happening by the time we get to opening day for the Houston Astros I guarantee it players in two thousand seventeen eighteen and nine it will happen baseball for some reason just thought that this was going to go away that's an arrogance when you're in New York City and your rob man for the commissioner one eight five five two one two four CBS you want to join.

Forty percent coverage on the rain Saturday fifty on Sunday with a high of seventy wise twelve forty now. News ninety six point five WDBO. Scott Anez with you today. Interesting story on wwl TV channel mine to air later today. Graves desecrated some hidden by overgrown grass and trees. It's a cemetery mostly home to African Americans who were once slaves and even veterans. Let's go live to w f TV channel line, sterling Jones, and Darlene. We're talking about the Oakland cemetery over in Edgewater. Tell us about this. Yeah. You know, there's been some reporting about during the past. What's new now is that the questions starting the state of Florida, and it's the division of a home and cemeteries just that they were now launching investigation because of our questions. We just down that out in the last twenty four hours we received a tip about what's happening there weeks ago. And we started looking into it went by and even talk to the property owner. And he pulled us, you know, we ask him about what we saw. You know, you've got Tim stones out there where people have essentially dug them up, and you feed, you know, remains they're open in the casket overgrown screen, you see pieces of what the volunteers to clean the site up believed to be you know, old school. Also that are just out there on the side of the road, which are not being maintained the property owner said look, you know, when I inherited this property for my father, many many years ago decades, even I had no intention of maintaining it. And if the family members of those berry share wanna maintain and clean it up. They can. But to our surprise, we were we just really were baffled that the state that's nothing to try to protect properties like this, especially when you consider the. Historical perspective of foods, actually, buried there. And and I know you spoke with the owner, and he tells you that these desecrated graves are the results of vandals, correct? Right. That's interesting. When we asked him, you know, how did this happen who's responsible? He told he said that over the years vandals have gotten onto the property, which is one of the reasons why he's restricted who was allowed to go on the property to clean it up. And so we reached out to police department mayor the city because we wanted to know, hey, have you tried anything tried to track down to target this place? And they told us they had never even received any police reports. He's so though there hadn't been mentioned this by the property owner he has not ever kid. The city's not filed any sort of report to try to find out who would be responsible for something like this. "I realized that. That it was home to a lot of people. It's still there. It's old. I mean, it's it's the nails date back to the eighteen forties that cabin. Was home during times of slavery. And after this where people had a life. They had children. They raised their children. They lost their children. I can just imagine. My great grandmother. You know, trying to raise her family in such a small space and the idea of that was quite moving for me. I go over to sweep are probably once a week or more. I spent a lotta time to striving around campus. I'll go read a book or look at the look at the big the buildings look at the bricks that my I know my ancestors helped to build that invention became those as large beautiful buildings. It's an amazing experience to come back to something that, you know, your ancestors were part of and that they may possibly have been enslaved at. Gives a a huge perspective to it. But it doesn't change my Lovin and the feeling that I have about it. Now. Thing is very necessary to reach out to the community to find individuals who are connected to these places and to reach out to them, and to have an open honest dialogue about how they feel about it how their families feel about it. And what is necessary going forward? I think it's it's difficult on all ends. And I think maybe that's why it hasn't happened. It's difficult for people who are not African American to have the conversation because they feel guilty or batter. You know, this is really heavy stuff. And then on the other hand, it's hard for African Americans have the conversation because it was hard in. It was a difficult time and people don't wanna go back thinking about those types of things. But I think it is necessary to get this information out there because otherwise you forget those people's lives if we don't want to talk about it. They were not having the conversation about those people that that went through those things were only having half of the discussion. There's a lot of power and knowing where you come from. And I know now so. I'm I'm very happy to have found out as much as I have. I'm still looking for more. Crystal Rawson is a local historian and genealogist and great granddaughter of sterling Jones senior. Well, descendant engagement to distort sites is gaining more. Attention. It's not a new idea. Michael Blakey is the National Endowment for the humanities professor of anthropology at the college of William and Mary for decades. He's been committed to the idea that descendants of enslaved people should be more involved in the process of telling America's history. Michael. In a recent op, Ed you wrote that history lessons in most American schools are expressions of continuing white supremacy in the United States. That's a strong statement expressions of continuing white supremacy. Do you mean by what they are saying by what they're leaving out? Well, white supremacy is based on the idea that whites are essentially the only human beings in the room. They're the real human beings and their superior to others. Even as throughout the twentieth century. They began to amend that to including others among humans white still put themselves in the center today is commonly thought by many euro Americans who don't believe in supremacy believe they are normal natural unmarked on hyphen aided Caucasians. And then the rest of us are we're the sidebars of history. But that's not what history really was. And we're giving an education that teaches us this, but aren't modern textbooks and school lessons from the very young up to high school doing a much better job of giving a much more complete picture of our slavery routes. No, you know, we have in the interpretation of slavery. A contradiction between the valorization of whiteness, and therefore white ancestors and the humanization of Africans and African Americans ancestors once one realizes or portrays African Americans as human beings who resist slavery as they did then one has to ask what were they resisting? And then discovers the brutality, the constant whipping, the psychological brutality that characterized Jefferson Madison's plantation are there..

"Today invisible, founders comes from the title of a forthcoming book by archaeologist Lynn, rain Ville, it's about the generations of African Americans who built I sweet briar plantation and then on the grounds of the plantation sweet briar college Lynn introduced us to crystal Rawson whose great grandfather sterling June senior was born around eighteen seventy five and worked at sweet briar throughout his life. Trying to find the cabinet in. The woods really is how my story begins. When my grandfather passed away overheard a story about a cabin that our family lived in that was a slave cabin. So I began looking for this cabin. Sure of that. I would never find it that it wouldn't exist today. But it actually was there in great condition. In the backyard of the bake house on the campus of sweeper. Sweeper college is a women's college in Amherst county, Virginia that. Was a plantation before it was a college. It's Nestle didn't in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains about two thousand acres large buildings a beautiful Italianate house. Lots of fields very very well. Kept. A very beautiful place to see. The big house is now the presidential home for the president of the college. But at that time, it was their family home was the Williams Fletcher Williams family home, the slave cabin is in directly in the backyard of the big house. And there would have been many many other cabins all in a row going down behind the the house, many, many people who are in slave there. I'm not really sure the exact number. Hundreds. I'm the great granddaughter of sterling Jones who is a worker of sweep are college during period of seventy years. The earliest record I found for sterling he's eleven years old, and he's working to build a bricks that would eventually become the campus buildings would've been pretty intense labor for a child at that time. He's spending a lot of time. They're in really can't find many records of him doing anything other than work at sweet briar. They lived in that slave cabin. Into the nineteen twenties. Many children of his were born in that cabin. And he shared that time there with his wife and several children before they moved into the adjacent community in Cowell that community of cool wall is still there maybe a mile or two away. There's people have been living on that land in working at bar for generations. Many many people are descendants of the NCAA population of sweet briar plantation. I would probably go as far as to say ninety percent or more of the of the African American community that work there. My grandfather's sister. Dorothy started working there is a very young girl and. I know it had to have been difficult for her to watch other young women be able to get this type of education that was not afforded to her sweet bar did not integrate until the nineteen sixties. But she was dedicated to sweep briar continued to love it. They honored her and the nine hundred ninety s with the honorary degree and named a building. After her the Dorothy sales bookstore. Mild life experiences at sweet bar began. When I was just a young girl, probably three or four. My earliest memories. Outcome. Come into the campus every morning with my great grandmother who would drive me in ended to seem like a magical place. It was my grandfather sterling junior that passed away when I heard about the story of the safe cabin. One room and loft area upstairs a fireplace. Few windows. That's about it. I had an opportunity to spend the night there with Joseph McGill with the slave dwelling project, he is going around the country, not just the south but throughout the country sleeping in antebellum buildings to bring awareness for them. Not to be destroyed. It was I think nine of us that stayed that night. And it was a cold October night. I didn't know it would be so moving, but I as I laid there on the floor..

"Another update on this one soon. But that's what we've got for now. And we've got one more story to hit today before rolling into your live Twitter questions, and this is for a new trailer. So yet again, Netflix we're talking about here. They released a trailer for a movie called the dirt. This one's directed by Jeff Tremaine, and it follows the rise and exploits of the rock band. Motley Crue it's based off their book that they co wrote with Neil Strauss. It's called the dirt. Confessions of the world's most notorious rock band it arrives on Netflix on March twenty seconds. So Riley, given the fact that we are seeing so many music bio-pics right now, what does this one do for you does this trailer in particular the dirt on your radar more? So than all the other things around right now. Well, yeah, I'm a Molly crew fan. I grew up. I mean, we're I we go from whole Cogan and wrestlemainia that would I was in elementary, then we're going to my middle school high school years where I was like motley Crue skid row. Yeah. Metallica yet. This. These are the bands. I used to listen to and motley Crue the dirt. I know that I haven't read the book, but I have a colleague from this like you would love this as a motley Crue fan because I followed their career. I followed all the mishaps the rise in the fall and everything in between. Right. So this is totally on my radar to talk about the performances, and I'm seeing in this trailer and the trailer itself. It was okay. For me. I thought it was like yum interested, I'm gonna see this because a motley Crue and what I know. But the trailer was less interesting me, it looks kind of get it. It's like they're like we're going to be famous. We're famous we're going to blow stuff up. We're going to throw things out windows. We're rockstars. And then what happens after that? So I'm interested in it. I think it's great that it's on Netflix because it's going into that conversation. We had with Spielberg and Netflix streaming that's going to be a real easy. Pull for me, that's landing on Netflix. And I'm immediately hitting stream I had a similar feeling as you with the beginning of the trailer the whole part it's like we want to be famous. I've seen that before I've actually seen that a couple of months ago. I don't know if I need that. But when they start breaking shit. That's where I'm like, oh, I'm just kind of mesmerized by all this right now. And that was making me think that it's an interesting choice to have Jeff Tremaine, the director on this. Because of course, he did the jackass movies and bad grandpa. And that's right. I don't like I can't put like a specific finger on it. But I feel like I get those vibes. You know that that total chaos and just like the physical comedy and stunts of those movies. I felt like that was kind of being applied to some of the more extreme things that were happening here. Or maybe it was just me projecting it on the trailer knowing who was behind the lens. But that stuff felt very extreme to me. And I was thinking about this while we were talking about, you know, having maybe like a more sanitized version of whole Cogan in the story before it looks to me like like, they're they're freaking going for it. They're going to go to all these dark crazy places and they're not going to hold back. And I think that. That's what appeals to me about this trailer more. So than anything, Angie, I'm curious to get your opinion after getting Riley's because you are not the biggest motley Crue fan. You're not not a fan. What you know the band as well as Riley so coming at it from that perspective, what this trailer do for you. I mean, it sounds like very few people know the band as well as Riley do not. Yeah. I mean, I'm kind of neutral on them. I know and enjoy some of their music, but I wouldn't call myself like a big fan or anything, I guess like the trailer looks fine. But I keep having this thing where I watch these like musician bio-pics and I keep thinking like, oh, so it's like walk hard. And I I did get that from the sewer. I'm like, I mean, it's a trailer. So I don't want to judge the whole movie, maybe the movie will have a lot going on that. I don't know. But like, even as I was going darker places. I'm like, yeah. They always go to darker places with these movies like sure, maybe the kind of comedy and physical stuff will be more interesting. Like, I perhaps perhaps it'll be in service of something interesting, or perhaps it will just be a nother movie that we have seen ten million times before. I don't know. That's what I'm a little worried about as a motley Crue fan. And to your point about the director. I didn't pick up on the the bad grandpa and the jackass stuff and that actually worries me a bit. Because that is that is so rooted in slapstick and just let the cameras roll and watch Johnny Knoxville fall off a building. There's not a lot of like creative direction at that. So when you transfer that to the trailer, you know into your point, Angie, then it becomes like I've seen this movie before I've seen like it's following those beats of these 'bio-pics, and these big rock kind of things it's almost following the plot of rockstar that Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Aniston movie, which was a takeoff on the glam metal and him being a part of that LaLa, a motley Crue kind of band. So I hope we get something different. The trailer was okay for me. But I'm going to see it because of motley Crue, and what I know of them. Like I said, but I hope we get something special will say like as a fan. Did you think that the actors? And you know, kind of general performances seemed to capture the energy you're looking for. That's the thing. They didn't remind me of the band. I know, but I didn't mention any of that. Because I'm like, it's a trailer. Let's see I have to get we have to inhabit those characters to see how they like. There's Vince Neal authors Nikki's six. Aw, Tommy there. You are. Okay. You're wearing your sister's pants. All right. So you know, I see the characters I see the personas that I knew. Let's see how they work in motion in the narrative of the story. Douglas booth is hardcore glaring at your right now. He does not approve. He's giving me the side. He's like he's bro come on. Mom, prove quite the side. I ride they're all right. I'm giving it a chance I'm gonna watch this March twenty second on net. Flicks. It makes it very accessible. I imagine I will give it a chance. So we'll see about that one. That's it for our full stories for today. But right now, it is time to tell you about a bunch of stuff coming collider soon. You are already well aware of our Oscar plan so be sure to tune in and tell everybody, you know, about that on top of that tomorrow is Thursday. So that means a brand new episode of jet. I counsel coming your way, we've got collider alive. And then of course, we are right back here. Or at least I'm not Mark rallies host on the show tomorrow. Oh, I should plug. This. I am off to Hawaii for amazing kamikaze was some panels. Yeah. Wait a minute. What's going on? I'm I'm moving talk surprise hope you're prepared. So that's that's the plan. If you are in Hawaii for the event comes to Hello to may say Hello to Corey we're going to be hosting panels all during the Khan and should be good time. So that's the plan. You're in Hawaii. Yeah. It's gonna get some nice weather else. I'm looking forward to it. It's a it's a quick quick trip. I got a rush right back here to be ready for Oscar night. It's going to be a good weekend isn't minute. Wow. My kind of weekend as crazy as it. Sounds and I can't wait her your jetsetter. Oh, yes. Let's say fully embracing mad. We'll so right now, it is time to take your live Twitter questions, and we're going to kick this off with sterling Jones who's asking name, an actor or actress that you feel has the talent to become a well known name, but hasn't due to bad choice of movies or just being overlooked. Oh, that's a good one. I got one. I always you know, what jumps in my head always because he was so great in last survivor, and and didn't get a good chance with his gambit by Taylor kids. I just love what he does Ben foster as well. And Cohen down the last survivors list lone survive lone survivor. Thank you. But yeah, he's always been somebody that he got a bad. He got a bad break with like John Carter and then gambit. And so I always say why don't we look to him for maybe the next wolverine, and maybe he can become something bigger. But that's the first name that came to my head. You got anyone Angie, I'm thinking. And maybe it's because I was just watching this movie like a couple nights ago, but Rachel mcadams who was recently in game night. She's someone that every single time. I say I'm like how does she not have a better grade? Like, she's fine. She got an Oscar nomination for spotlight. And she's not exactly hurting moves like, she seems like she should be way bigger than she is. She did with Rachel vice recently, I heard that was. Good. But it never. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I heard that was really good. It just never kind of broke through the clutter at the time. But one of the names that comes to my mind pretty quickly because the movies out right now is Rosa Salazar. So she's she's been on my radar for so long right now. I think one of the first movies I saw her in is this teeny tiny comedy. She did with them. With his name is escaping me right now. But I'm going to think of it. It's called night owls, and I saw it at south by south west a little while back and just her comedic timing and physical performance in that is so freaking good. And I thought she she was okay in that second maze runner movie. But that movie around her just wasn't super special. And you know, I hear that she is phenomenal in elite. I still have to catch up on that one. But I wish she would get that that major breakout role that would just make her a household name. Because from a talent perspective, she seems to deserve it. Right. Yeah. Adam pally, that's his name. And he is wonderful to I'm sad. I forgot it. All right. We got another question here from Anthony, Shannon. And he's asking what is your favorite musical moment. In a non musical for me will Ferrell singing opera in stepbrothers, always makes me smile. Honorable mention is rocking out to bogeyman rhapsody in Wayne's world. Yeah. That's good. Yeah. That's it is referencing the movie Mohegan Rexiti. That's right. Okay. Nonmusical but music moment. My god. Now, what are the conditions of these musicals? They have to break out in song and sing it in. It's like a well, no musical. Or are we calling like footloose musical the score? Does it have to be like a like a song that I think he could be worked into the I love how I'm making these roles could be worked into the movie more subtly? Like, if let's say like on picturing, I don't know why I'm picturing the karaoke see now in five hundred days of summer, but something that isn't like everyone a song and dance. But it's just something that naturally happens in life. I got one this is kind of random, but in the movie American Honey wind Shiloh buff and Sasha lane. See each other for the first time across like a like a store and then Riyan as we found love starts playing. And it's just it's really perfect moment that I think I feel like so perfectly captures like the romance of it. But also just like, you know, like, it's an expensive. We've all had going grocery shopping, and then that's on comes on. And I don't know just something about the exact setting and the song. And like the characters just played so perfectly to for me. And it also felt to me so much like, and this is from my childhood. But like, you know, the first time limit Capela and Claire Danes each other in Juliette. And it just felt like such a dirtbag version of that. It was over. I love it. Oh, man. This is still. Okay. So I'm going to go just to last night where I finally watched. I did my rewatch of how to train your dragon two. And there's the moment wins stoic finally realizes his wife is still alive and the reconnecting and like hiccups watching them, and he's like, oh my God. My parents are back together. And he's like Obama this. And he starts singing the song about her. I fricking cried. I was like, oh, this is beautiful and they got back together. And then they got attacked. So it was very cut short. But does that count. No. That's a good question. I go almost famous tiny dancer in the bus. Oh, well, yeah. Because that's a musical. I it's a by. It's kind of like a full bio pic about a oh, God Clearwater, was it. No. What's the what's the band's name Delana Stillwater? Thank you down. And. Yeah, that's I mean, I know there's music in that it's their own music, and it's about the rock and roll lifestyle. But that moment when they start singing tiny dancer is one of the most beautiful moments in the movie, I have a much classier answer than that one. Oh, Google go. The Billy Madison song. Hands down one of my favorite things and the answer in regards to Billy Madison can either be you know, the big song and dance with all of his classmates or even the shampoo and conditioner jingle in the bathtub. I don't know. Come more gum. More gum more gum organ. Do you on knee mold gum? Sorry. Never have to apologize for that. That's a good one. Here's a good question from Jeddah idea mess. He's asking who is the new host of movie talk. I have an answer for that not me. And we're not ready to tell you everything just yet. But something is cooking. And I'm really excited to say what if we are ready to go. But in the meantime, we're going to be here making sure you of your movie news every single Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday, never skipping

"Let me tell you something guys. Thriller is Stuart your heartland. This is a stupid. We'll how could Richard Curtis come up with this idea for a movie? I'll wait a second. What would a second? Richard Curtis comes up with these ideas, all the time don't compare them to Shakespeare for God's sake. This is this is his wheelhouse. Like, Danny Boyle, weren't you supposed to do a JAMES BOND movie? And then the schedule ran because you had to get in this musical. What is this movie? John, please help me out here. Look first of all the movie, I was trying to think about is their finest stars, Jim Artem and Bill Nagy and Sam Claflin go. See it. Second of all. Here's what I'll say. I am a Richard Curtis sucker like you put him in about time was great. I love love actually like there's a lot of films. He's done that. Have thoroughly enjoyed from that side of the pond being an anglophile myself that being said this bothered me from top to bottom, and I do and I wanted to love it because it's Danny Boyle. It's certainly well directed from the. Trailer. The problem is the guy can't sing second of all. I didn't. I mean, the be using the Beatles who I get it. But you show in the truly gets hit by car and hits his head. So this is probably only dream in a fantasy in his head to work out his relationship with lily, James. So it's that whole to me. I'm like, oh, okay. It's that then you bring in all these people to be a part of in Kate. Mckinnon eight McKinnon was completely missed west. I just I wanted to fall in love with this. And I did not and just did not work. And that the guy seems like a good actor. I just I just thought I love the cigarettes. You mentioned cold play in this cold play would who would exist. Never been the beetle whose Coldplay a punchline like either way worse bands. That's what the whole playing Chris. Marcus smart rights. Fantastic lyrics. Maybe like moves. It was a good. He's not a punchline for God. This this economy by surprise because I didn't know that. That's what this movie was about. And I'll tell you why didn't know why. This was the movie was about this because they've kept it under wraps on purpose. That's why they were so vague for the last eight or nine months while they were casting and then shooting this movie about what it was actually about. Because if I known it was going to be about a kid who bumps his head, and then for the Beatles, don't exist. I would have called it out way back then you guys are such grouches. Gonna pay to see this movie will one hundred percent pay to see this movie. I thought this was so charming. I thought it was cute and clever. I don't know what you're talking about him not being able to sing. But I obviously loved the Beatles, and the original recordings, but I'm also a huge sucker for Beatles. Cover songs, and the fact that so many were mashed up in this one trailer. And yes, maybe that is the goal of this kind of marketing efforts at sucker me in and see it. I don't know the quality of the movie in the end. But I was totally sold by this thing. I thought he was great knit. I liked lily James. I like James and everything she's in. So whenever she signs up for something. I'm usually encouraged and you guys not I'm not an across the universe ban. Like, I'm only going to fall for something like this. And it's not it's not just the whole beetles stick, even it's like, I wanna see where it goes with the idea of him not being able to reconcile the fact that like he gets this fame. By copying someone else's music. You know, that it it's gonna hit that point eventually where he has to figure that out. And that to me is what's over was saying that like he has to keep his own personal expression under wraps because other people's hit songs or with or what's working for him to me. And this is my final note on this trailers, this is like the polar opposite of what I wanna see from Danny Boyle who did it was so good making shallow grave and Trainspotting in twenty eight days later, these gritty edgy movies. This looks like cookie cutter fluff from the studio the Brian mama Mia to it's weird that you're right, Jeff. We bring up the JAMES BOND thing that is a little weird. I can't shoot it. Now. I gotta shoot this Beatles. Tinged thing. It's really important for me to get this out there and pair you bring up what is going to be confronted by. We do see an allusion to possibly Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, showing up to call him out on it because they said there's two men who claim that they've written the songs is it a John Lennon imitation with Paul McCartney. Or is it something else? Who knows but there's certain, but the thing is here. The deal about seeing you got to interpret the soul. There is nothing. He's doing in this trailer. That makes you feel what those songs of feel like when you hear them when John or Paul sings or George or even Ringo, and I was frustrated by that except the one moment I will say I like was that something moment when he was on the couch with James corden singing to the actress, whatever that is. And of course. I couldn't I didn't recognize her. They oughta Djaama's they're like I seen that. That was a nice moment in the trailer. Overall. I get with the troops trying to do. I just I just bothered me yesterday. How good the Beatles have allowed this to happen. You guys I can't wait into this movie comes out, and you're so pleasantly surprised or like melts. Hope does I would love that. I hope it does taste on this bit of marketing, the Tunisian this and blinded by the light. I just have a good feeling that twenty nineteen is going to be filled with so much music. Inspired love open John and wrote in which before it, I'm told. All right. I want that one bad a lot to look forward to. I'm telling you believe guys come on tomorrow on collider. We have so much new content. Coming your way. Of course, there is collider live, and then also movie talk coming back at you four PM PT as always in Roco might be a little heroes tomorrow tease. Sure, I can tease J Berra shells. To come on to be interviewed by us on collider heroes who got my Kalinowski joining us to be part of heroes as well along with Koi jandreau and Amy down and talking all the latest from the world of heroes and villains stop. All right. It is that time of the show when we take your live at Twitter questions. And here's what here's one kind of for you, Jeff for I think you'll be able to speak to this. Maybe I apologize for the midst pronunciation here. But this one comes from SatU yen draw and Ben. Ooh, Banerjee, and he wants to know what's the status of the willy Wonka? Prequel? I will never forget that. That was one of the first scoops you broke. When you join the team was honestly haven't heard one single solitary thing about it since that day. Really? I will say so Paul king supposedly fell off of Pinocchio. Yeah, he was gonna do that with Tom Hanks. So I wonder you know. They said that it was because of a family issue that he had to deal with. I don't know if not it was going to be before Willie Wonka or not, I don't I don't know what's happening with Willie Wonka. I talking still on it. I liked that shortlist that I saw with Gosling as Miller down Glover, you know, they all seemingly have relatively open schedules, except for maybe as Miller he may be the busiest set of all of them right now. So I I don't know. Sorry can help. Yeah. I like that shortlist to it. Just it spoke to so many different possibilities, and it'd piqued my interest. All right next Twitter question is from sterling Jones who asks if you were given the choice to take over a film franchise. Which would it be for me? It would be aliens. I would also bring him predator in down the line. Take over a film franchise. Yeah. Precious on our trek, if you gave me Star Trek to reboot as movies now after what happened with Star Trek beyond which I was not a fan of or into darkness, which really split the fandom. I would start all over again and being charged that things I love it. So much Star Wars is it's always the easy answer depends on how you feel about these new batch. But I think Star Trek would be fun to be in charge of. And then the fast and furious movies. I think I know what franchise you would take over Perry. Do you? I think I know what you're going for. But I'm actually going to choose something different. Actually, you might you might not. Well, then I would love to take over the scream franchise. Absolutely wasn't going there. Yeah. I think it scream could could use a reinvention. I know Kevin Williamson is working on it now. But there was this series that I read growing up called the babysitter by RL Stein. It was like three or four different books. And by the end of the I think it was the third book that the protagonists the babysitter. She becomes the killer. Ultimately, because you know, all this years of being stocked in the straw, the sort of center over the edge, and I would love to see Sidney sort of succumb to that. And become the killer herself short short of them. Handing me the scream franchise. I'd like to reinvent home alone. That's fun that I mean that should be they kind of spiraled out of control with all their their sequel straight to DVD nonsense. But I think you could bring that back then get more modern. Yeah.
