Los Angeles Lakers Pair LeBron and Russ. Will It Work?

"I wanted to zoom out and go over the big picture landscape with someone who talks on our airwaves every day about the nba. Dhs is favourite league. I think the one. And only the greatest showman in show business and tv for espn stephen smith. Our you sub man. How you doing man glad to finally be here. I'm thrilled to make it happen. You are out in la. So let's start there you talked. I was listening to you on. I take a few days ago. Talking about russell. Westbrook in the amount of pressure that's on russell westbrook. But tell me about you know how. How do you think he fits. Lebron how what are you looking for him. How does he have to changes game or does he have to change his game. Well listen. I think i think both have to modify to some degree. Lebron can't be as ball dominant as as he has been off making all the decisions. Because that's one of the reasons rusting wanna be in houston anymore as you. Well know Because he didn't want to be you know sitting on the sidelines. Playing the role of spectator being on the plane and roller spectator watching james audit. Well that's not gonna change lebron james. He's happy to be back home. He's happy to be la. He's happy to be on a title contender which he is on. We get all of that But in the end he still russell westbrook in you know credit to him. You know like. I told you we've had to be. We've all had to be critical of him at times. What we know that. He's an electrifying talent. The most athletic point guard we've ever seen in nba history. We know he's a walk in triple double and we also know. He never cheat to game with his effort when he's out on a court it's always one hundred percent and so when you look at the slow. Almost snail like pace that the lakers could could. Could you know what wouldn't prone to plan towards playing at at tom's in the past and now you've got somebody like russell westbrook all of a sudden and lebron having a night off. Ad having a night off isn't as daunting as it was the previous two years. I think that helps them during the regular season. And then i think once the postseason comes whatever it takes to win is what i think the character in russell westbrook and lebron james will do.

Stephen .M. Smith and the Iron Bowl

"Stephen smith welcome back from touchdown. Alabama stephen amit always good to see you and great to have you on the program. So it's the week of the iron bowl you've been high on the tide. Since the first time we talked during the summer. let's start with mag jones because you told us. He was different than that was before the public. In the heisman voters fell in love with him. Absolutely i mean. The young man has been battle tested poise and career. I remember him in the us. Freshmen in two thousand seventeen with the scout team out there throwing bombs and of course coach saban told him stop throwing the ball deep all the time. King looks at cope sabres coach. Tell your defense a check me there so you got a guy with that type about and that type of confidence even check his own coach. Nick sabin that you got yourself a quarterback that can really do some special things. So i knew from mack. Jones the freshman that he was poised to this moment but also seeing the growth that he's made targeted stephen m. smith who stephen m. seems like every every aspect of alabama has gotten better the one that has surprised when people is the is the defense. Because after the ole miss game i i wasn't sure that p golden should be buying green bananas. But what's happened on that side of the ball. The main thing is coke. Sabin and pete goading have done a great job. Simplifying things on times player stink too much. You think about my job and is my teammate. Doing his job. It's the guy in front of me. The guy behind me the guy next to me doing their job. And when you're thinking about so many things of your job is and training your is to be district where confusion comes in so nick. Saban has always been one to say. Do your job and the rest will take care of itself. So she and goading been a great june above of simplifying. The game plan players have done their job. You're seeing more pressure on defense guys stopping the run better. More turnovers created a the big thing here. Paul is essentially omits game. You've looked eleven. Shutout quarters football alabama including a complete game shutout of mississippi state and the team is getting off the theater on third down so a better job of simplifying the game plan and players. You know being concerned about doing their job correctly. It's interesting. we haven't really heard much in the aftermath of jason water when he went down some of the pundits. I remember somebody. Espn said alabama was done. They had no chance of winning the national championship. How has that been dealt with on the team. Because it doesn't seem like and i realized alabama has played a top five team Yet they will seem like they've done quite well without him. I remember a conversation. I had with john. Michie paul about you know. How do you feel. Avoid behind by waddell. He's a one type player. Barry explosive guy would. He got hurt against the volunteers. You heard coach. Sabe say you know. I hurt for college football. Not the fact that saving hearts for alabama. I'm sure he pretty much does but he hurts for college. Football due to people enjoy seeing james waddell on the field. He's fast he's a bottle he's gone. He's energetic he's explosive. He's highly entertaining. Obama has found ways to work. Around this. you've seen slade. Boden return be on kickoffs. Of course he got a twisted ankle against kentucky alabama monitoring jam all week and practice. He should be able to go this week. But we'll see what happens We have seen devante. Smith retiring ponts against kentucky patrick satanic. A second has also field in that role a little bit so save has put he and different guys and that special teams role to try to you know. Fill that void but it's worked out for the most part. It is difficult trying to find that guy that can do know what j. waddell does

Why this candidate for West Virginia governor isn't even the focal point of his own campaign

"Stephen Smith was already running an unconventional campaign for governor of West Virginia. It's opponent fide of the people effort under the banner. West Virginia can't wait the campaign. Its Policy Proposals and budget have been discussed and written by the people. In fact. Smith isn't even the focal point of his own race for governor. Even Corona virus has an upended the campaign Smith says the pandemic has only enhanced their message. But will it work? If Smith who has to win the Democratic nomination in June defeats the incumbent Republican in November Smith. Thinks so hear him explain. Why Right now Stephen Smith thank you very much for coming on the podcast? Thank you so to be here so I've been watching your campaign now for a while since October when we met through our mutual friend justice guests and he wanted me to meet you because he was saying this. Guy Steven he is running a different kind of campaign. And you laid it out to me at that dinner. Talk about the kind of campaign. You're running so our campaign starts with a simple light. Yeah we actually don't think that one governor is the problems we actually believed that never in America district Sunni Non West. Virginia history has a politician in the answer politician League wars years ago or the teachers strike two years ago that we exchanged from the bottom up. So that's how we built our campaign starting Almost three years ago we having conversations with folks all across the state saying what would it look like? What would it take to run a campaign where the ended it just win one office but we won something closer to a people's Government in West Virginia? And that's what we're doing now a a people's government talk more about how this campaign is working because it it's not just hey on Seba Smith running for Governor and you've got volunteers around the state who are running around and getting people to vote for you. It's a little bit more involved in that right. They were to show people that were doing something different. We have to do it with our actions. Not just our word so the first thing I did was build county volunteer teams in all five counts tourist state so in every county. There's a West Virginia can't wait. Volunteer team is not Jefferson County for Stephen Smith Jefferson. County can't wait then. We realized that some people are gonNA come into politics based not from where they live but from their identity as a coal miner or color Muslim are students or social worker so we will thirty nine constituencies teams veterans can't waste seniors can't rate so last piece of the puzzle was New Year more than why can't and five fifteen or twenty people to run the same kind of kept a race that you're so look for people would say no pack money promised Across the picket line promises Behind from a debate never hunch down and again we thought fifteen twenty twenty five people that would be a revolution West Virginia here. We are eighteen months later. There are ninety four of us running together up down and importantly we're running all different kinds of offices and council to Congress and Senate and everything in between we also represent the people of West Virginia in a way that is far different adverse truer than the current I'm ninety four. Candidates are disproportionately black. Disproportionately women disproportionately veterans disproportionately educators. Came directly from the Teachers Strike Movement. Were disproportionately waiting members. The LG Clusky unity and together. We represent something more like what are states. And that's what wrath of these people I mean. You're you're running in. The Democratic Party are all the people who are running in all of these positions. The all these elected hopefully elected physicians. Are they also all democrats from the beginning of this campaign? We've announced strategic read but also morally. We had a duty to build the people's government not just based on the people only go Democrat. Which is a fairly small group of people in West Virginia? We defeat curious about inviting independence. I needed people who voted for the president. Met doesn't mean compromise our values on the contrary. What it means is looking. For the biggest boldest issues that could get and that's what we found in this campaign that on issue after issue there was a democratic position that you could find the state capital a Republicans Find the State Capitol and then it was a bit consensus. Common Sense. Position wasn't being argued by corporate arms of the Democratic or Party. And that's where we find our strength and that's why we broken Joe Mansions Record for the most. Donations ever in governor's race in West Virginia history because you're appealing to literally accountable to a wide range of people from all different parts of the state walks threatening.

"stephen smith" Discussed on 860AM The Answer

"Stephen Smith of Hillsdale college's my guesses today and next week we can finish our review of the yet hopefully tempting you into reading it the Joe Sachs professor Sachs a translation of what we are using or I am using I think dean Smith is using a different one Patroclus is the character we're talking about now as we come into chapter sixteen or book sixteen of the it Stephen Smith what was patrol courses appeal to a killing twenty bags for well he he has just found out that he knows the major Greek warriors are are wounded that things have reached a kind of desperate moment and so he's frustrated with the Kelly is because you know if he if you're ever gonna rouse yourself and fight it's going to be right now but if you won't do so Kelly he's he says and to me there's something holding you back this was not as and so at that point I Kelly is going to say okay fine you can go into battle close to where I Kelly's armor in an attempt to sort of shore up the creek and and help them Kelly is also gives her because the faintest piece of advice as you know like go out there fight for the Greeks help them but only take it so far right whatever you do don't don't go too far engineer in your battle glory don't don't try and without me and so the stage is set for us to go into battle and he is going to do very well he's going to have a lot of a lot of glory and he's going to run into actor and and died what we have is some people know but that's because we assume they watch movies not read the book is it this is all sorts peers in chariots law hand to hand combat fought in front of the walls of Troy you're getting close to the Greek ships in this case but an individual warrior the wearing of some them and how the battle ebbs and flows is well known up and down the line am I right yeah I mean that the is the home the same part of these images of wheel spinning and spears flying in back in for pulling in dragging and screaming over dead bodies and armor so the the war scenes from half a tremendous vivid power and can any kind of real poetry about but with here was a class he's going to not participate in that he's he's going to experience glory and extreme combat but he is going to forget to take that advice or it's going to disregard the advice to the killings gave us worth mentioning Achilles again this is a pretty hard to follow the advice he basically says look go in there site the women gain glory and then just at that moment when you think I can't be stopped actually asking for discipline that I don't know how many warriors out yeah exactly and I think especially when you get to that point in the power on you've seen is actually pretty hard to do that Kelly is you know to really the yeah it's a night is kicking **** and taking names and that you know being on top of the world and then you know it is not happening I go back home now and so he wasn't able to do that and that's one of the reasons why he ends up facing actor and and and sometimes does he take Achilles armor with Achilles consent yeah yeah and so does Hector does he know there's Achilles no that's going to draw the attention of Hector yeah I mean the thing is you know actor the big the big consequence of this is that you know that that armor is probably one of the ultimate prize is available and so when actor defeats Patroclus and nearly killed them he is going to eventually get that get that armor so what what what I thought about is when you from your notes especially when Achilles dispatches Patroclus with his armor he knows he's going to die because he sending him off to Hector is the only guy he's willing to fight one on one and so he knows you gonna die right well I I I don't think he knows it I think he fears that he's going to die treated here but it turns out he he hears it for a good reason and that's because he has a knowledge of a prophecy from his mother one of these the late revelations in the palm that he does not share with Patroclus before he sent into battle tell us that prophecy the prophecy was Kelly's had heard from his mother that while he lives what Kelly so as the bass that his men would die and so you know it doesn't take you know can Aristotle determined that maybe Patroclus could be the best of the Myrmidons Achilles people it and so when the Kelley sentiment about all he withholds knowledge of that prophecy and it's almost like he's kind of betting that well maybe if I you know if I prayed is the use and if I send them out and if I given that advice that process he won't come to pass but alas it does the other thing the the other thing that comes up in class all the time students wonder why did they kill you spell her class about the prophecy well because the prophecy also seems to imply that may be better because it's a little bit better than a Kelly that could be the implication of the prophecy while you live in the back yeah yeah they're interesting given his ego not likely right Hey that's the thing is he conceals and actually Patroclus says unless there's something that you now that you're not sharing in a Kelly says nope so that's the trail angel moment in the tax man that's the trail isn't he betrayed his friend well he certainly did not telling the truth and what does that double well you know there's a line later in the power on this anger creates lies and I think that in any case the Kelly is he said earlier today yes I'm the kind of guy always tells you the truth on the blind guy the direct guy the fourth great guy the what the text shows us is that yeah he he was old and he's kind of duplicitous here and when his friend is dead in just one Buck it's too late right so the good advice is the Kelly's could betray Patroclus don't trust anybody well only if there's something that hard to trust in human nature under the circumstances but it's a killer isn't the best warrior and he lied to his best friend the message of the book and don't trust even your best friend got me tell me if I'm wrong but that's the take away or that we need to learn to be much more so than we they kill you know kill you or whatever yes is seeking to this your age you know that competition of themselves it's more powerful then the need to tell the truth that this case how are our chair so I stand on my point don't trust anybody but now tell me a little bit about before the break what about Hector well actors go into how easy to see take the armor at that point you know he is at his high point in the power on the side from you know fighting Achilles or defeating a Kelly is it doesn't get much better than this and he's going to make the fateful decision and stay outside of Troy and and fighting even though at one of his friends and countrymen urges him returned to try and not to get too far but do we admire Hector I yes I think in and in one respect and now in another yes it is a lot of the desire to help as well as a wife and a child always wins over readers sympathy on the other hand his wife as he is subject you had a lot of pride in his fatal frenzy and yeah at the end will be unable to go back and go back and try to add him to the killings so what you get with these these characters you if you get a kind of double nervous you know you haven't had rebel obviously great quality like flick missiles physical courage about are fighting power then you have these other weakness that comes into view the it with the truth heartbeat with self government a discipline and Homer once he does he does want to just be one or the other excellent point on which to break we'll be right back to America to take you on to the new armor that Achilles cats after the death of his friend and lots of.

"Stephen smith went on. I was saying that the whole point of you guys bring light to racial oppression and whatnot wasn't about ah getting sacrificed job but it wasn't about getting colin kaepernick back in the n._f._l. Is about bringing light to this point and that's what you guys have done so he saying what is the the problem with him going in different route because he's choosing not to go the route necessarily day you in column. Maybe have taken us fighting for calling. The good job is returning him to the status. Quo being an employee. We didn't advocate for him to lose his job. Along the way i think ludicrous that somebody who <music> like stephen who's been so closely reporting on this would make a statement like this azima caught me guys last thursday today. Steven a. discussed jay z and roc nation new long term partnership with the n._f._l. Eric reed critical of jay. Z and stephen defended the move in read as you just heard no critical of steve nice position on doing that steven and i'm starting with you. Do you feel like he's handling this the right way eric i. I don't believe he's handling it the right way but let me i preface my comments by saying as i tweeted over the weekend. I'm not taking that bait. Nobody's going to pit me against ever agreed in college cabinet catholic. I have profound respect for ever agreed and i wanna go out of my way of saying this. I don't think anybody i think anybody on this planet. Rather would want a a friend like evergreen because every re talk about a brother in awe standing behind colin kaepernick my god i mean you talk about a rough rod and a warrior korea going down with the crew and not jumping ship. That's definitely eric reed and he's to be applauded for that. I just disagree with this this position in that everybody's been taking in terms of excoriating jay z and the deal with the n._f._l. As opposed to being a bit more inquisitive about it and finding <music> out what he does and one of the things that i've leaned on marcus is telling folks i remember when denzel washington and spike lee were doing malcolm x. and spike lee had told me there were black people. He were running to all the top domesticity up. Don't mess this up. That is perfectly reasonable. They didn't go off to them and say what the hell you doing the movie for man you don't make no damn y'all ain't y'all ain't fit to do this. They didn't do that what they said was. Don't mess it up and i i have no problem with somebody taking that position with jay z. looking at him as both a strategist and a capitalist knowing how jay z it could be how he's about his money and he's about making money and how adroit he has been doing so in some circles we've spent decades revering hearing him for that and applauding for that but suddenly he pulls that off here while in the process using or attempting to use the straw aw of the national football league to address the very things that colin kaepernick and eric what taking a knee four and we want to engaging condemnation. I think that's wrong now. Let me be very clear. I can understand from an optics perspective how looking at jay z sitting next to the commissioner smiling smiling and laughing at yakking it up. Is that the greatest look in some people's eyes. I get that i also get people looking at jay z and saying during that press conference offered you didn't articulate a game plan that you were going to exercise and what the overall agenda was. You weren't specific enough. I get that criticism because he's too. He's too brilliant to not have details to disseminate to the mass enlighten us about specifically. What you're you're going to do but that doesn't mean he's not going to do it and when i look at markets are closed by saying this. I think that somebody needs to ask eric. Read at this particular moment in time. What exactly is he protesting about. Because if you're talking about bringing attention racial oppression inequality police brutality ability considering the resources that the n._f._l.'s had and the extended tentacles that they're willing to use along with the players coalition and other things that are transpiring. It's the to me that at this point in time eric reid is protesting more about colin kaepernick then he is about the issues him colin cabinet were. We're originally taking a knee four and i'll stop there. Marcus see here's here's the thing stephen and i one hundred percent agree with what she said i would. I i let me preface it by saying this where i grew up at in south baton rouge wa grew up at around nor baton rouge. There's this thing called the g. code. I feel l. like the g code should be conversation between air greed and jay z. That's how you handle it. You have a seat at the table you you earn out these things that you just mentioned what is the plan jay and therefore the criticism that jay z is taken. I don't understand it stephen a cyst angels history when we start talking about more than luther king when we started talking about power infrastructure and trying to infiltrate a situation or system that we're trying to not only gain equality have embiid looked at as respected as the next man what the his skin is white whether he's from another demographic or anywhere you have to have a seat at the table like we we there is a there is a plan that was to kneel four four social injustice for discrimination for black men being killed industry at the hands of police officers. All of that was absolutely warranted today. I don't think anybody has disagreeing with that at all but here's the ball now. Now you have this interpersonal battle of something that i would i would i would take the side of saying this is transpired in order to push the narrative forward. I believe that's what jay z is eluding to. I believe that's what he believes. I don't like the fact that his two brothers attack and brothers over social media instead of having a conversation about what is the play like to look get. This situation is does this hardening for me. Based on your greed is saying but marcus. Here's the thing jay z has a said a word about eric ry. He hasn't said had anything but positive words about college cabinet so the attacks have been one-sided deal and so now we have to get to why that is eric reid went on the field at lincoln -lica- financial field and tried to attack malcolm jenkins for what because you thought he co opted the movement you're accusing daisy theory of the same thing you're alluding to sell out status being attached to him okay and why it's not because us we're not addressing the issues of racial oppression police brutality racial inequality because the n._f._l. Players coalition is clearly making attempts attempts to do that and i'm not saying they're working finish and they don't need to do even more. Please don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the n._f._l. Owners that they're interested all right and above board and they don't absolute no more. I'm not saying any of that what i'm saying. Is that the efforts clearly. You're talking about nine figures plus being put into issues to address those very issues. The colin kaepernick at eric reed swore they were about but here eric reed is willing to attack anybody that remotely disagrees with him about colin kaepernick so it seems that this moment in time that he's protesting on behalf of colin cabinets more than he's protesting about oppression impression inequality police brutality etc and all saying is if that's what you do and then say so and leave it at that and stop feeling the need to attack everybody who remotely disagrees with you because molly marcus. I'm here to tell you who the hell would disagree with. Colin cabinet and eric reid's originalist intention. The answer is no one we have a problem with how eric reed has elected to handle things publicly and i think the brothers a good brother his heart's in the right place but he's better than that and he knows we come but i'm sure eric reid's upset about his boy who is being blocked by the league. It's unfortunate that he doesn't have a job but at the same time with that being said jay z turned down the halftime where here's a labor now like you said he has a seat at the table and we need people to force change leaders in this change movement and he's the perfect guy to do so and he talked action and i'm sure we'll be hearing his plan soon. Could he continued to kneel. How would that be looked at if he was had the ability to sign with this team. I'm sure those conversations had to take place when they were talking about signing him but but in eric eric in the situation in the things that we're talking about here's the thing that's so disheartening to me when when you when you when you pry and when you go oh and when you fight to have a seat at the table to to try to create change being been your occas- outland is we don't want you there we. I understand you making a lot of money honey and then also like can we stop with the whole situation of talking about these things so loudly and publicly and just go get the work done. The one person that's not allowed is the guy that started all of this and that's colin kaepernick like angry have to fight on behalf of colin kaepernick. "You're on the Stephen Smith show with Wilken. Will follow you, because you just broke it down perfectly and keeping all that in mind to Elias think, agree with Paul because, like you, you just broke it all down Klay out to last eight minutes lowly out a lot of people looking at that game fan. I'll tell you one by five came down to the last minute. But I'm quite saw that they had those guys in the rotation. It wouldn't have been that close because they had another go to guy and keep them my linen at thirty four and the bench play from Golden State. These guys they everybody's ready to go. So the fact that you're coming to three minutes. And everybody's ready to go. They put the ball up, they don't hesitate. And I think this these of the team and I said, what the experience that they have, I think right now listen that this could, you know mess with Toronto a little bit. The good think about definitely. Thank you very much. If you think about it not to get all max Kellerman on you. But you guys know the story of cicis says, this is the guy that in Greek mythology was condemned to constantly, roll a boulder up a mountain. Right. He'd roll it up. Of course, sooner or later, the mound, gut too steep. The bowl roll back downhill he had to roll back up. We've all had some moment in like that in our life, where whatever we're doing. We're getting knocked down. Right. Isn't it easier? Let's say you had to do something ten times whatever it is. I don't know if you've got a trainer, if you work. Let's say you do tin burpee, right? All had to be perfect in order burpee is their miserable. Let's say you're trainers sitting there and saying they have to be perfect if I catch one that's in 'perfect. You're starting over from the thumb K let's say the situation Sam burpee two or three you mess up star over that's easier for you to rebound from right? What happens if you're grind in through, and it like seven or eight or God forbid nine that's when you fail these like no, you failed start over. That's crushing because you could taste it. You can taste the opportunity, you can taste the end you're almost there. I'm worried. I know it's only game too, but I'm worried for the raptors because they could taste that opportunity. That was how close it was for them. Michael in DC. What's up, Michael? You're on the Stephen a Smith show with willqejon it will go on. Basically agree that bogie was NBC last night's game. Yeah. And yeah, I know he plays really well compared with, like value, added for the rest of the playoffs. But I don't understand one how you can root for the sky, exceed after lily selling himself out for the easiest championship, and his eyes with the Katie warriors, and to how he deserves this much praise after being an NBA all star for the pelicans averaging twenty points, seven rebounds and cetera. I know he's coming back from tough injury, but literally almost everyone in the playoffs in the series right now injured. So I know I wanted to get your opinion on that. Yeah. Michael, you can keep them up cat. 'cause I want to tell you the answer to this, this is this is something that, you know, if anybody watches I take or is minimal exposure to me, and Stephen a Smith. They know that our, our amount of agreement are overlap of agreement is not great, but on Kevin Durant. It is. And I'm gonna use the Kevin Durant analysis. For boogie cousins here. I hated K dis decision to join Golden State. I thought it was obvious. If you can't beat them, join them I thought it was obvious. Join. Something that's already a winning proposition instead of building your own up. I hated it. But Michael, did not stop me from recognizing a truth that I thought was objectively obvious that he had arrived as the best player in basketball, and I wasn't gonna hold against him this decision that I hated in that analysis. And I feel like Stephen A is in the same spot. And now I'm going to translate that the boogie cousins, even if I don't like boogie joining the Golden State Warriors. And even if I acknowledged it sometime ago he was twenty and eleven twenty and ten player, it's not gonna stop me from analyzing what I saw last night..

Magic Johnson continues to tarnish the Lakers' and his legacy

"In addition to Vogel, being officially introduced Monday, the Lakers were front and center with Magic Johnson's comments on ESPN's I take then I start hearing, you know, massing you're not working hard enough, Magic's, not in office. So people around the Laker office was telling me saying things, and I didn't like those things being said behind my back wasn't in the office enough, and so on and on. So Magic Johnson going public again with the dirty laundry from the LA Lakers. What do we make it ESPN insider Adrian Wiltshire around, I think two things with Magic Johnson. Number one, a lot of excuses and blame on other people for the simple fact that he didn't want to do this job. He told he said he told janey bus in the beginning, I'm not going to be here on a full-time basis. I'm going to run my business. He didn't stay in there on a full-time basis. He was not around very. Often. So if rob Pelinka had said to somebody Magic's, not here. He's not around. It was a statement of fact, maybe not so much backstabbing. And number two, the fact that magic brought up the idea today of wanting to buy the Lakers. They're not for sale. But certainly, he got that idea out there that he would like to own that team to me that was certainly something of a message for, gene. Everything he doesn't says, is strategic is that the reason in your mind why he came out and wanted to talk about all of this today? I think it was. There's no question. It was part of it. But the blaming of everybody else for him walking away how he quit. In the end he made it very clear, this job takes tremendous commitment wasn't willing to make it right. Even though he made that clear between bus in the beginning at the end of the day, she's the leader. She's the boss, boss. And so you have to point to the top when there's an issue like those issues, the now she's got an even bigger problem on her hands. Palinka still running things. How does she won't? She has the lead here, and by Magic Johnson not being around by him going weeks at a time not being around the facility, not that valuating talent not working with coaches it created a leadership vacuum. And you've seen a lot of people. A lot of names, the Rambus is Tim Harris. Phil Jackson pe-, different people are going to fill that void. She has to decide about how she wants this organization. Run by committee with lots of people or does, she want to centralize it. And right now, she seems to want this organization by committee. That's a hard way to do it in the states that way, then how can anyone expect things to change by the way Frank Vogel? The new head coach congratulations. This is going to be fun. Speaking, frank. We have much more on his news. It wasn't about him. Of course Pelinka was going to be asked about the match situation. Angeles. Magic's comments on Monday, of course, much of it being a he said he said situation as for the reaction from our Stephen Smith. There's no way in hell. I'm not

They have done damage against those teams Janas MVP candidate, adding Mikla miratec another three point shooter to one of the best three point shooting teams that will help them when it comes to the playoffs. Sag off a honest. You have another sniper to spread the floor. So Janas can still do was work. My heart is telling me Philly because if you look at this Philly team, I think they're bullies. You look at the length. Jimmy Butler defender dwelling beat arguably could be a dimension player of the year. You've got JJ read at creating space, and you add Tobias Harris who can space four but as long and can switch on defense. You've got Ben Simmons who also another good defender that was his number one thing he wanted to do this coming season to be defender. So I'm looking at Philly if they can get there is together and put those eagles together actually put those things apart play together. I think Philly can make some noise and be bullies. They can't play finesse warriors basketball, but they can be really. So my heart is telling me Philly, but my head the bucks Pacers have won four or five in a row with federal diva, which is amazing. It's just not sustainable. Yeah. So I think the Pacers come back to the pack. I'm saying that because right now two four five matchup Philly at the four Boston in at the five. Super Bowl 2019: Pregame coverage before Patriots vs. Rams

"The game, of course, is a big part of it. But also there are other sort of story lines beyond the the Rams and the patriots in a couple of them. There are interesting to me is I want to start Myron with with with gronk. He's kind of had a resurgence a little bit here in the playoffs starting to see a little bit of the gronk of bold wrestlemainia is the first Sunday in April. I'm of the belief that I'm going to see grog make his debut in the WWE it wrestlemainia and then his time in football. Is over. After today. Do you agree with that? And do you think that whatever happened today win or lose could have any effect either way? Well, I think that makes a lot of sense excuse me, especially because you're talking about a guy who can probably get millions of dollars on a pretty limited. Wrestling scheduled Cadillac around. Arousing Brock Leser, like it's not like the old days where he's going to have to wrestle three hundred days out of the year. This guy's going to get paid to show up on special events and make millions. He's talked so much about how much money he saved throughout his career. He's talked about not wanting to play too long. I don't know if today affects anything because he's a first ballot hall of Famer whether he wins or loses today, he's got a bunch of money in the Bank. And I think he could be the next rock in. In. I think he could be that. He's got a personality. You're not a wrestling guy. He's not the rock rock. Am wrestling. He could be that. Well, rock started out as what rocky my via. He was fighting from the family name. And then he emerged as his own way. I can't broadcast that personality in the WWE. We'll promote him. I think he could become a superstar who eventually goes in the movies and forgets football. All right. I I'm not going to argue with the wrestling part of it. But because you're wrong. But Dan, do you think this is it for I? Yeah, I do. But I do believe that tonight's result swings that okay? I can see if they lose tonight especially in close ballgame Brady convincing gronk for another year. Come back for another year. Don't forget is AO win the first round tackled. It's not part of this team. He'll be back. Like, we give me one more run. Gronk I can see that happening. Now, if they win I do believe that he calls it a career as he rightfully shit. Don't take don't. Remember, the comments he made this last week of him talking about the wear and tear, and how much it weighs on you. Mentally, and how hard it is to get hurt and have to practice, and how difficult it that difficult of a thing that is now to say that he's the next rock is absolutely outrageous. Like the row how first of all the rock is the rock was a guy that went into wrestling because that was the the the means to an end that was the vehicle. News and his family had been. He was going to you second of all the rock is incredibly business savvy and Hollywood savvy works like a dog like this is a guy. When it comes to football. Yes. When it comes to training for football. Yes. But he doesn't. I mean, the rock literally works like a dog. I need more talking about the rotten. Now. I saw the rock when he was in survivor series as rocky my via no one knew he wasn't good. And he was trying to figure out who he would be gronk could come in in the social media air, which rocketed the rock didn't come in in the social media era. All I'm saying is gronk could be a superstar in wrestling. Well, let me add gronk is only he's only twenty nine it feels like he's been around forever damnit. He's only twenty nine now he's taking a lot of hits bodies like a forty year old guy. But I guess what I'm saying is listen to countdown to kickoff on ESPN radio you've been through this process and Myron, and I haven't the process to decide you know, what that's it. Right. That's a hard process for every athlete. No matter the level, whether you're elite or not is it in part of it. I think is do I have something to go. Do do you think? I mean, we we talk about wrestling and a lot of people may roll their eyes. But it is something I know he can do if he wants whether it can be great or not he can do it is that talked to me about the process of saying I'm walking away. And and how how how players go through that mindset. Yeah. I mean for for me, you know, it was a great majority of it was I don't love the crap anymore. Doesn't it feel like he doesn't either? Yeah. I mean, that's that's no you're not gonna pay. Now granted if someone was going to pay me five million dollars. I would have dealt with it again, if someone's gonna pay gronk ten or twelve million dollars, maybe, but you get you deal with the crap. Like, so many people doing their job you do with that crap. Because you still love it. You love all the things that competition the locker room, the fellas the drive to be great the work, you love all that. And then once you don't love the dealing with the crap anymore that stuff doesn't matter anymore. It's not worth it anymore. And that's when you start facing the question of do I wanna do this anymore? And it makes it completely now. When I went through my transition, I wasn't for sure. Like, I was like all right. I want to get into analysts in broadcasting get into TV TV. And I was like I'm just gonna go rather than sitter sitting around. And wait. So I knew that there was at least the opportunity there for me. Gronk scan have way more. More than I had presented to him. But if you get to that point where you're done loving, the crap that you have to deal with and there are avenues for you to go. It makes it such an easier decision in move for you to go. You know what I'm done? Here's the next Chad having those options, I do think is is huge. You will have a lot of options. And you didn't know when you quit you're going to get to do a show with Matt Jones in my. But then sometimes I have earlier if I did exactly the Lord's blessing. There you are. So let's talk about the next to the players on the field. Maybe the person that has the most sort of its state today. Myron is your guy Tony Romo? I mean. I'm not sure an announcer has gotten this level of praise maybe ever like universal praise of people going Stephen Smith said is the best performance he'd ever seen from an announcer. And so the thing is that's awesome. Except you've got one more game. And I always of the opinion the most important two days in your life or the first in the last at a job. Well, the last impression he's gonna get from us is this game. Is there pressure on him to recreate the magic from two weeks ago? I think there's a ton of pressure on him to do that. And I think the problem is announcers like him who get this early praise. How many of them go down as being folks? And a lot of people don't like, you know, it's unfortunate because you start out liking guys like Tony Romo. He deserves all of this praise, but because you expect now people expect him to be some profit every game the minute. He shows any sort of flora weakness people are gonna jump onto that and start to criticize him. But I think he's facing more pressure than any announcer at a Super Bowl or any analysts had a Super Bowl that I can remember because people think he's like something we haven't seen before. And now he's going to have to deal with that pressure. Incomes care like most of the time. I'll be honest with you, Dan. I don't even know who the announcers are until I realized what network game is on. But with Romo I mean, there are prop bets on how many he's gonna call. Like, this is he is not the biggest story the game is. But you know, he's the second third or fourth. Biggest story. I think a big part of it too is like people are having a ton of fun listening to him. Torino because not only is he very good at what he does in. I've said this as a broadcaster networks you better have quarterbacks on there. Because you you've gotta be able to get people to understand the game different levels that communicated to all kinds of people. But it's the fact of he continuously telling educating people on the wise in house put it's fun. Like, you're having fun. Like John Madden was the last announcer. Who seemed like he was having as much fun as Romo, and it's it's okay. For him to talk over Jim Nance for a second. Because if you were sitting at a bar with your friends are in the living room having a beer with your friends. You talk over your buddy here in this moment. So it's not like this. You know in cookie cutter ish. Oh, we don't do that. Because it's television. But what happens if I'm saying is really good. Then I'm gonna do it. You know? And I think that there is that appreciation for for from people going like this is really good. And he's telling me stuff, that's really. Good. But also like the fact that there's really nobody else on TV sounding like him in ways. Like that like talking over Jim Nance, Jayme lake. It just seems like he's having a blast doing it. There are very few announcers who make the crossover into a personality that they matter Madden did mired. I'd say Barkley has vital. Did like there are many. And I think romo's headed groups, Dan Orlovsky will continue to be on. Would you agree with that? Yes. I think he is definitely in that group of guys where you go. You're now going to watch games because romo's attached to it doesn't matter the game because he's gonna make any game more interesting. Just because of who he is become he's become a part of the game now, and that's a good thing. Because like damn fed people. Like, I think I honestly think there are very few announcers that them just being there matters. I think John Madden. Did I think dick Vitale did Bill Walton? I think dick Vitale did. And I think I think Tony Romo is is sort of becoming like that who's going to win the game. After all this talk who actually is going to

"So I don't have a problem with it. And he also a lot of times he deferred to DC. That's a question for the expert DC. So I liked that he goes not so out of control where he's chime in on those things. So I like Stephen Smith. I like those guys. But I hear you. I can see why against upset at Seth on score. Tutor? Why is TJ such a sore? Loser. Well, I think you know, this one you would be upset to imagining training for how many weeks and come down to one twenty five and eating a fucking croutons for last seven days, and then you know, it stopped prematurely. I think the majority of people think that including the owner, you have see so, yeah, you're gonna be very very upset because when you're fighting for a belt a double champ champ status. You're talking about a legacy fight, and that's going to go down in history forever. So it's going to take a kind of a hit to your legacy. So that's why he's such a sore. Loser. "Laser something really high tech you powerful. And I think our unique contribution has been to use these very high tech expensive state of the art scientific measures. To prove how powerful these very simple and low tech and low cost interventions can be so e well is the first one. So let's stick with eat. Well for a second because he said something that I'm sure lots of people's ears are gonna park up to all the people who are on a high protein Kito type Palio type diet have just said, what did he say, let's dive into this a little bit because people will need it unpacked are appreciative. I mean, I'm I'm so tired of his diet wars. You know, I debated Dr Atkins numerous times in so many different forums before he died in his his autopsy, which was publicly released the died of heart failure. So it wasn't a tad. He's because his heart. His there was an article in England a medicine Stephen Smith wrote the looks at what happens in arteries on different diets and on a whole foods plant based I like, I recommend the arteries are clean on a standard American diet, which has the unfortunate, but probably appropriate acronym of sad. They're partially clogs and on Atkins, Kito, paleo, whatever. The latest version of that is there significantly clogged. Even if they lose weight even cholesterol levels, come down. And so that's why I approach would sets it off apart from all these others is that we have the science. We have the only randomized trials showing that these lifestyle changes can actually reverse heart disease, reverse prostate cancer, reverse other conditions like that. And we published in the Lancet and the New England Journal Madison in JAMA and circulation and the Americans of cardiology, and you know, all the leading peer reviewed medical journals because it works, you know, that's what it's work apart. I'd love to be able to tell people that an Atkins paleo Kito, diet, whatever can telling people what they want. Here's a great way to sell books and so on it's just not true. I mean, it's it what makes it so seductive in some ways dangerous is that it's based on a half truth and a half truth is that we Americans eat too much sugar. Intimidate refined carbs, no doubt about it. I mean, that's where we all. Agreed. It's where you go from there. What he replaced that with and replacing those with me and pork rice. And bacon and sausage. These are not health foods, you know, they will cause you to get sick and die prematurely. Whereas if you replace them with good carbs, fruits and vegetables, and whole, grains, and legumes and soy products. They not only don't make you sick. They have literally hundreds of thousands of substances that are anti cancer and heart disease and.

Tallahassee police raid apartment of Florida State Seminoles quarterback Deondre Francois, no arrest made

"Orlando sentinel florida state quarterback andre francois spent the last two months under surveillance by the tallahassee police department because someone convinced them he was selling weed oh boy because what everybody's gonna go back to the team it's winston thing and everybody's going to go back to all its jameis winston two point oh listen to this so after the tipster went to the tallahassee police department with their theory back in february there was a two month investigation by the tpp that they went through francois's garbage and they went through some stuff to see if he was selling we well apparently after they felt like they got enough of enough evidence to get a subpoena and go break in and searches apartment they found seventeen grams just over half an ounce and for those that don't know in states where lee weed is legal it's it's pretty normal for somebody to carry a full ounce per person that's the you know so it was less than that so they've got a little back back explaining to do i think the tipster set him up apparently the tallahassee police department was by some tipster somebody guaranteed it was a gator fan i was probably hurricane fan trying to get the andrea francois kicked off the team belt head coach willie taggart says he's still on the team but you know what it's not surprising that he's using smoking we because he's got that tendon tear could remember that he suffered the play in the alabama game took him down so hopefully he's recovering back in and i don't want to give to dictate or anything because you wanna stay off the weed i am with stephen smith on this stay off the we'd do not get addicted but apparently for people that are a massive pain it's an acceptable l a lot of people that get on that you know say it helps so i i'm not going to get into the we debate in my side of it you know what if it's very very small control amounts and it helps it you're okay but the sentinel article says after the cops figured out they had wasted their time they went.
