"Could be looking for in similar situations. Well, of course. I mean, if you look at most of these cases in this bomber, fifth, um Isolation basically doesn't interact. His neighbors didn't even know it. And they hate you lived there for 20 years, and it sort of goes on and on and on of a breakdown of the person. Now they may have a shell, whether they're okay. But the people will know them know that they are okay. Okay. Large purchases of firearms, You know, I mean, Stephen Paddock, The Las Vegas shooter had an inordinate amount of firearms that the person in the last few months before the shooting this things like that again. Is any of it against the wall. The answer is no, It's not. But it would. I think it should trigger law enforcement to informally look at what do we really have here? Who is this guy? But, you know, like never coming out of this house, and he's got a black plastic over his windows or whatever. This bizarre behavior in and of itself. And can you put together something that maybe get you into a house? In this case, the house in an RV? Right real quick. We're talking to Brad Garrett. I got about a minute left the Louisville police in the process of firing the two officers involved in the death of Briana Taylor earlier this year. Yes. So what you have. There is a super poor entry into a residence of people who literally didn't know what they were doing in my feet. I have done dozens of force entry center residences. You have to have a team of people that know how to do them, and that's why you usually use the SWAT team. I'm not going to overshoot. They're going to retreat If they fired at them to see what they have this case one round goes off. The off the second officer in there, just cut loose and fired off 15 or 16 rounds, a large number of rounds. Then you had another officer outside, blindly shooting into a resident to be like shooting inside of your house. Steve. See you don't know what they're shooting at. So that guy got fired early on there now are saying they're going to even fire the guy who wrote the search warrant, and I will tell you Because I looked at that search warrant for 2020. It was not a good search once. There were a lot of holes in it on day, So it's a lot of staleness going on here. In my view, a bread Garrett. Thanks so much for your time we talked to every Thursday morning. Have a great new year. Appreciate your report. You're welcome. Take care. CF..

"Right. And you can buy as many boxes as you want. Right. But when this goes into effect in July, you're gonna pay the eleven dollars for the for one hundred bullets, but then on top of that you're going to be paying another seventy or eighty dollars to go and do the background check us. It's all about money. Isn't it? Well, I essentially putting a six seven hundred percent tax onto that's what it is. Now, this Stephen paddock guy who on October first two thousand seventeen killed fifty eight people as he shot outside of his Mandalay Rome in Vegas wounded, another five hundred people they found in his hotel car in homes, forty seven guns. John does he need? Does anybody need forty seven guns? Probably not. I mean, I can't really think of any obvious reasons. The thing is he only used one gun, I guess in this couple. But right. Well, it's not even sure it's not even being made clear exactly how many guns he's used Twenty-three in his hotel room. I don't know how many, but there's a difference between how many had there and how many used and so look, you know. But I mean, you're right. Whether he had one or forty seven he still did did the damage. Right. And so I mean, if you've been able to do it with two guns or three guns that was there. So I mean that doesn't provide any benefit for anybody knowing that he just used a fraction of the guns that was using there. But you know, what we've learned from the report that is just been released by the FBI is that this person seems to have been motivated as all these mass public shooter seemed to be I mean, they're not certain, but it appears as if he was motivated to get, publicity, and what these guys know and their minds at the more people they can kill the more publicity that they're going to be able to go and get you look at the sandy hook killer. "NBC four news. We lead local live from the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. I'm Debra Mark. John kobylt and Ken chiampou KFI AM six forty coming up. We're pretty soon gonna see a verdict in the shop of trial. Eleven weeks. Most of it. The prosecution's case, we'll talk about the latest with the closing arguments coming up, and we will talk at the health and science desk about the anti vaccine parents and a demographic profile, which might interest you. That's coming up later on this hour KFI. We're gonna talk now. Brian clay pool. He's an attorney with the play pool law firm. He's been on the show many times for a lot of cases he's been involved with involving child sex abuse. He coincidentally also was at the famous Las Vegas shooting in October two thousand seventeen the route ninety one harvest festival. Fifty eight people got got killed there. Hundreds were were shot at and wounded, and it was it was Stephen paddock sitting on the thirty second floor of the Mandalay bay resort. And he was leaning out the window and just going to town on that open lot where the concert took place and play pool. Was there? And now we have reports coming out. After many many months of investigation. It's the FBI and they've already previously reported the paddock acted alone. We all knew that. But in terms of trying to come up with a motive about the only thing they can see because there's no clear motivating factor, and he did not leave behind manifestos. No online profiles. No, real hints is maybe he was seeking some form of infamy was apparently in deteriorating health, both mentally and physically. So go to Brian. How are you Brian? I appreciate you guys have on. I remember one of the last times we had you on you talked about all the all the trauma that you are still going through from from the shooting is that still happening. Funny. It's improving for sure I've been I've been working out with a personal trainer. Four days. A week. I'm still in therapy on average about twice a month. But I'll tell you it just pops about an hour. The other day, I was just driving driving to my office. My little girl donder school earlier in the morning. And I literally just broke down crying at a stoplight. Why? Because for some reason I felt like I wasn't going to see my little girl. Grow up. In other words, I thought I was gonna like something bad's going to happen. To me. I'm gonna die before my little girl grows up a lot of victims of the Vegas shooting or going through this. They have fatalistic catastrophic FOX that just pop up. I don't know where and we all think we're gonna die. It's like that movie final destination where you think you're going to die because you you probably should have died at the Vegas shooting. So that's really one of the biggest things I'm still coping. And that's what you talk about. In therapy. Are these panic attacks that you have? Yeah. Yeah. Panic attacks. And then the exile is is is is another big one. And and and that's in the context of like, we all we all our everyday lives. So the world doesn't stop when somebody goes through major trauma, and that's a real battle. And it's still I'm still struggle with. I I run a law firm, I'm a single parent, and I get I get very overwhelmed, and then and then the shooting filters in and what helps me in therapy to manage my responsibilities in. There was I prioritize my therapist helps me realize that I'm doing an okay job. My daughter's number one, they how are you doing as a dad there for her? You're delivering the goods for number too. How's that going I'm holding onto things? So as part about validation that you're doing okay. 'cause we all think we're not doing that. Great and hundreds of people are going through the same thing. The hundreds of other people. Imagine the hundreds that were affected by that shooting in Thousand Oaks. Months ago by ex exactly. Yeah. No. I come out as well. I mean, they're they're going through that too. It's going to be a life changing event. And you don't wanna be around crowds. Your another thing too. You don't trust your surroundings. That's another big thing for all these victory. Anybody involved in a traumatic shooting like that? You just don't trust your surroundings. Where did you get out of this FBI report that the only reason they could come up with is that paddock wanted to be famous before? He he left the the planet. I'm telling you a big goose egg. Okay. You call this an FBI report. I mean, I two and a half page report after you should rather I tear rapper. She did. Oh after Skift eighteen months of copious investigation by created. What's called a Las Vegas review panel here, our our findings, and and and the findings exactly what you said, basically what we all knew. And and I'll tell you what people across this country want to see not just the victims mattress. I'm not cry. Baby victim on your show. Just saying what I want. Look anybody who wants to live in a safer country would want it to have known. What went wrong to allow this douchebag mental case to be able to carry out such a mass shooting civilized society? That's what we were hoping for some kind of investigation into the breach of security at the Mandalay bay. But fifteen months later, we have to law enforcement agencies. There include. Asian to make sure to preserve the integrity and image of the multi billion dollar business of casinos in Vegas. What do you think? What do you think MGM the parent company? What should they have done during that time? That paddock was staying there. What what is it that they should have known? How would they have known it? How should they have reacted? Yeah. Great question. Well, and you can't answer that question in a vacuum. Your your listeners need to know, the all the full facts leading up to the shooting and six months prior to that shooting. There was a credible. Isis threat of a lone wolf gunman. There was going to attack casinos in Vegas. Hello. That's called red flag. Warning, what people don't with every month all the casinos in Vegas where meeting with sheriff Lombardo. His crisis team with federal homeland security all these casinos. You guys were supposed to be raping up their security to be on higher alert, for example, have security guards that have guns, right? None of the guards Mandalay bay had a gun. Don't let gas use freight. Elevators look for suspicious backs. This guy stayed there. What three or four days carried up? What was he too far out of the range of how you'd profile an ISIS member? No, no. I think what the real with the real problem is. Is a culture of this high wrote this this world of high rollers within these casinos. They are pampered the their paper more than a playboy playmate. I mean, you can do whatever you want as a as a high rocks. What does your spending money they will? They will look the other way cultures that are that are propagated in these casinos in my opinion, aided and abetted. This paddock to get away with a look at the housekeeping rules. I mean, they broke the rules there. Every other casino. You're supposed to be you know, every twenty four hours you're in there where the alarms on the on the win on the windows. There were no alarms. They're supposed to be. Where's the video surveillance in the hallways? There wasn't any. There should have been. Can you hang on Brian goes? Yeah. No problems. We're talking to thanks to we're talking to Brian clay pool. Attorney with his own law firm, and of course, been on our show many times before over topics concerning the sex abuse of students in such a schools, but. He happened to be in Vegas on October. First twenty seventeen at the festival the route ninety one harvest festival when the gunfire broke out from the thirty second floor of the Mandalay bay resort and casino shooter. Stephen paddock killed fifty eight people injured many more there's been a new FBI report on the shooting. But but boy it's going through which is kind of fascinating is really the laps and on the part of security MGM owns Mandalay bay. He says it goes beyond that. I it seems like the whole city is protecting the vaunted casino industry. We'll talk more with Brian when we come back. John and Ken KFI your chance to win a thousand.

You might know anybody. Wingnut it Stephen paddock. Okay. You said they'd like you're afraid to say oh. Generally, we don't like to say the name. Shooter. In the newsroom. Okay. And I guess the while we're on the subject the newsroom is should be held responsible for you ruining. Everybody's Super Bowl commercials. I know you. Here's here's why. Here's why throw that out. I know how it works. But for those of you listening who don't know how it works charity writes and reads, some of her news. But most of the news that she reads is written by news director, Jim Forsyth, and I don't guess you have the right to go. No. I'm not gonna do this the way you always have that. Right. But what's been released? It's on the internet. There is a difference. I'll tell you what's the difference. Hillary. Okay. I know that you can handle it. I tell you what the difference is. And I'm only saying this because I'd like to know from our listeners what you think the differences between now and Friday. Because I've been talking to Tim about this for a week now because I knew that the week of the Super Bowl. It was going to be just like you said charity the internet and everybody else is going to be telling you what these commercials are in their entirety and I've asked him ad nauseam. Should I do that? No. Because for the most part ninety percent of the time. I know what my listeners want to hear and what they don't want to hear when it comes to something like that Super Bowl commercials. I don't know. And I do know that I would not want to know. Now, there's no way I can avoid it. Right. Because it's it's there you don't do the line. I haven't done anything on the commercials because I just can't decide whether I should tell you or not I think just the thought one of the reasons that we have reached the conclusion that commercials aren't as good as they used to be in the Super Bowl. And they aren't but a lot of that some of them are. But we've come to the conclusion that they're not because we already know what it is -actly. There's no surprise element involved. And we all know Christmas your birthday anniversary. If you know what you're getting as president. It's not. Odd is much fun. So the FBI shared its key findings from this report from the behavioral analysis unit and experts spent nearly a year pouring over information and evidence, and they still couldn't find a single clear motive shooter wasn't driven by a religious, social political agenda. He acted alone. They didn't find a manifesto a suicide note of video or really anything to explain why he did this. But the. The report also said that often shooters don't have any singular big motive behind these really senseless acts of violence is often a combination of things like in this case. The report found that the shooter was at least in part driven by the desire to die by suicide. And remember he did kill himself at the end of this horrific shooting, and he wanted to be infamous now, what makes the FBI think that he wanted to die. Well, the reports findings depicted man whose physical and mental health were declining. He wasn't a healthy sixty four year old. And apparently, he was making plans that you make at the end of your life, and he wanted to take control of of how he died, and he might have also been inspired by his father who was a Bank robber and fugitive and was on the FBI's top ten most wanted list in nineteen sixty eight this was also very carefully planned the shooter stockpile of weapons and ammunition ammunition, and he went on this year long buying spree at forty seven firearms the day, he opened fire on these people. And he was researching police tactics and response ballistics, and he was going to different sites to figure out where he could inflict the most damage on a lot of people, but he didn't have a particular grudge against the people he shot or the hotel. He chose to do it from. He just wanted to hurt people. And the FBI report found that the shooter didn't have much empathy that he that he saw people through this transactional lens and so- hurting people that were just out having fun matched his personality. So many people were affected by this. What are survivor saying today? Yeah, I spoke with Mendez Smith, and and her sister was shot and killed and her name was Nisha Tong. She was a single mother of three boys. Those boys now being raised by their grandparents here in Las Vegas. And she said she'd rather that the shooter take the reasons he did this to his grave, and he'd be alive. Honestly to not have the answers in exchange for not having to deal with him. I'm okay with that. You know, I truly believe that if he had lived he. He would have just made my parents life miserable. Keeping we would have been caught up in in trials and having to listen to things that he would say the Las Vegas police closed their investigation over the summer also found no motive, no why. So no one's looking into that anymore and a lot a lot of people really do want to know why? But for others, this aftermath has been just traumatizing and emotionally exhausting. And that they're the last thing they're thinking about is the motive that's NPR's. Leila fadel. Thank you. Thank you for having me..
