"stephen larson" Discussed on The Hugh Hewitt Show: Highly Concentrated

"For 30 years, but I'm not a trial lawyer. I'm an administrative lawyer. I have no idea. I don't even know what side of the courtroom to stand on. Well, well, no, no, I've seen Jerry Brown appointed these people here. But I really firmly believe that in order, you are far more better prepared and qualified to sit, whether it's a Supreme Court Justice, a court of appeal judge if you have been a trial judge and understand how it works. I agree. My former law partner, Stephen Larson, judge Larson. You know, he looked at me sideways. 'cause I didn't know anything about civil procedure. And I suspect. I expect cheap jets as Roberts when the conference and they've got to sit pro as you in front of them or a fed court's issue. He's going to sign these right down the line to the district court judge who knows what's going on in the courtroom. And they're not ideological cases, usually, right? Right. That's exactly right. Procedure is straight down the line. That's it. That's what she's going to be doing. McGregor Scott, thanks for getting up early. Former United States attorney. How many years totaled did you do as a United States attorney? I was a little over 9 all told. And you're still standing. My buddy Steven Cox and Tim garrison, you may know from the attorney. Oh, I know them both well. Yeah, they were worn out after short spins. You know, three years spent. Well, I got to tell you that second three year spin seemed like it lasts about three times as long as that first 600 push for a lot of reasons. I'll just say that. Greg Scott, good to talk to you. Thank you. I will hope you will come back again and I appreciate you getting up so early in California. The eastern district of California, my Friends, ought to be its own state. We ought to have 51 states because it's just so different from coastal California. It's got nothing to do. You drive the 5 up the central valley. It's got nothing to do with the rest of the state. I'm going to talk with ambassador Michael Oren next about Israel's very unusual role in bringing the Ukraine invasion to an end its mind boggling what's going on. Welcome back, America. I'm Hugh Hewitt, Michael Lauren, former ambassador of Israel to the United States former deputy minister, joins us now. Good morning, ambassador Oren. I've got to come right out of the box hot at you, Michael beckman, great listener says, when you have on doctor Michael Lauren, tell him me and most of my Jewish relatives who love Israel. My brother and I have been there many, many times. Our very disappointed in Israel's lack of condemnation of Putin and lack of support for Ukraine. How do you respond to Michael beckman and the many people? Good to be with you again. I hope he's listening because I have now for three weeks. But again, start with government's policy. I think it's the long policy. I'd be very nice if Bennett can mediate some type of resolution of this. The chance of that are very small. Bigger leaders, a bigger countries have tried and failed. But the question is, let's say that for Israel, what's in it for the Ukraine, the fact of the matter is that Israel, a democratic Jewish state, is not standing for square with another democracy, fighting for its freedom, often with molotov cocktails against a heinous invader. That opposition is being led by a proud Jew. How do we do that? I don't get it. I understand the need to try to avoid friction with the Russian military in Syria, but you can be surprised only about 4300 Russian soldiers there. And frankly, they should be afraid of us. These really army is more than twice as large as the British and French armies combined. I have sort of a dirty Harry approach to the Russian forces in Syria. I think you get the reference. And they will make Israel's day if they do anything stupid. Well, tell me a little bit about the political problem because this is now it's no longer a fig leaf to say you're trying to mediating. That is absurd. The only people that can mediate are the people in the Kremlin who can somehow put Putin under wraps or do a khrushchev with them. Israel is not going to change his mind. There are considerations that work in the Kremlin far beyond Israel. Is it changing? I mean, you guys have been invaded so many times. You would think you'd be on the side of Ukraine immediately. Yeah, right now, we have the leader of the only democratic country in the world to actually sit and shake hands with this man. Is our prime minister. Any second hands with a war criminal. So really, it's kind of outrageous. It is changing, but not quick enough. Israel went from not participating in a Security Council condemnation against Russia to voting in favor of a General Assembly a condemnation against Russia. Israel for sending aid of all sorts of type to the Ukrainian people to the refugees, but we've yet to sign on any major sanctions. Against against Russia. And that puts us in league with countries like China and India, many countries in Asia. But the west and our relations with the rest of the United States are also a strategic interest, don't you think? Yes. What is going on with UAE and Saudi? I can not have the Biden administration so estranged our most loyal Sunni allies that they've blown up the Abraham accords without officially tearing them up. No, they haven't blown them up. What they're doing is they're afraid. They seem to be by administration is by all means committed. To restoring the JCPOA, the Iran nuclear deal 2015 is going to be a much worse deal. They see that the Biden administration is not willing to portray its allies in the Middle East to sign this drill, but also to portray the Ukrainian people, get this. They're going to exempt Russia. From the sanctions that are placed on Putin frequency because of Ukraine so that Russia will be able to keep trading and buying with Iran Russia agrees to sign the agreement. It's quite extraordinary..

"Lose. Why? Because we haven't done anything for a year to dissuade Putin from marching on Ukraine. By the way, this morning, nice little touch by Putin, Russia announces nuclear exercises as fresh Ukraine talks plan. So they're firing off their missiles. There are some other stories. The New York attorney general has gotten court authority to depose former president Trump, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr.. Now the last two will be matter of fact. There's not that it's hell. The accountants withdrew their bank statements. If you think that the Trump kids or the president looked at the bank statements, okay, you can believe that. There's no evidence of that. I'm not sure what the book show, I don't know if they're cooked. I don't know if they borrowed money against fake assets. I don't know any of that stuff. Neither do you. All I know is I could prep Don Junior. I could prep Ivanka to do a deposition. I'm not even good at that, but I could do it. I could be the greatest lawyer in the world. I could be federal judge dick Leon, really one of the better litigators I ever saw work. I could be, I could be dick Hauser, but you'd have to get him off the golf course. And he doesn't do that anymore. Basically, at a restaurant, at home or in a golf course. And I get the best lawyer in the world. I get Stephen Larson in LA. That's the guy I'm calling whenever I get in trouble. And say, you've got to do depo prep with former president Trump. Now every lawyer who is driving anywhere right now or getting ready to go to work just put down their razor or pull over to the side of the road and started to weep a little bit in sympathy with whoever is the lawyer that is going to prepare a president Trump for depo prep. Because he is not going to be a great opponent. No, no, no, no. That's not going to go well. At any event, that's going to happen. And then let me talk to you about this story. And I've been telling you about it. So I feel bad, but I feel not bad. Sorry, not sorry. Mortgage rates close in on 4%. That's in The Wall Street Journal today, and this is an ad for Andrew and Todd dot com. And it's not normal time, but I saw that on the front page of The Wall Street Journal and I got up earlier this morning. Mortgage rates closed in on 4%. I told you, I told you, it's going to get worse. So if you're going to buy a house, do it now with Andrew and Todd dot com, call them a triple a triplet 1172. They've been sponsored the show for a decade. I've known Andrew for 20 plus years and Todd for half that time. I know I'm trust him, love the guys, actually. And my audience loves them. But they can't help you unless you call them, triple a triple and 1172. Now you've missed probably 25, $30 a month. By waiting two weeks, but go call your kid up and say, you got to go buy a house. I'm going to become an unoccupied co borrower. Call up your grandson or grandchild. Go tell them to do this because it's not coming back. I can't tell you can't print $4 trillion and expect interest rates to defend her. Okay, so 4% isn't 3% and 3% isn't 2%. So you miss the only guy I know who hit the mark. I know one guy who hit the mark, the very bottom. One guy. So there's one person you're not going to match. But don't get left behind. Call Andrew and Todd dot com. I also got asked about the Durham filing last night on special report with Bret baier. I am very skeptical of what Durham has got going. And I said it again last night, cut 25. I want to get you two Harold and Hugh to weigh in on that filing and kind of big picture. Hugh first to you. Well, I agree that the media has made too much of this filing. I think I said two nights ago. We don't know anything yet because sussman can either go John dean or he can go Gordon liddy. But I know that John Durham said there will be motions eliminate coming and Harold and I did go to Michigan law school and we both know one thing from our time there from great law professors. Nobody knows nothing about what the prosecution has until the prosecution rolls out its indictment. That's right. I do say, I don't over to you. That's it. All right, I already knew Harold because nobody knows nothing. You don't know nothing. I don't know nothing. I do know that Democrats are in big trouble after the San Francisco school board election, cut 26. We talked last night about the San Francisco school board and that recall effort of three of those members. The national review writes this. Americans rejecting far left progressivism. Americans in overwhelmingly democratic cities are concluding that far left progressivism has not worked, and he's not working. The radical approach to policing was resoundingly rejected by voters of Minneapolis in November. Now the radical approach to education has been resoundingly rejected by the voters of San Francisco. If progressives can't win there, they certainly can't win nationwide. Well, appeasement at home, I mean, appeasement abroad and inflation at home. We've got an open southern border. We've got closed police precincts. And now we have this earthquake. The tsunami warning out of San Francisco, Brad. Democrats are going to run fast. They're going to sprint away from everything they've done for the last two years, especially with.

"I thought the main event was very good but it was a carbon copy from last week like ross. Too many problems right now. And i'm just like i keep rehashing the same thing week after week ultimately so the same question that i don't wanna talk about it because i don't like it because i don't wanna talk about it because i feel it's always the same thing. We're treading water. We're always talking about the same stuff over and over again. So tonight i'm not. I'm not mixing raw. I'm not. I decided to sort of gloss over it tonight because i think there's far more interesting things to talk about than this week's edition of monday night raw but i'm not gonna lie. This is a. This is an internal monologue. Dad i've been having in regards to one when i see you know my peers when i see guys when i see guys like stephen larson from going in raw who come out and say and make a statement and say you know what guys and especially. They're on they're on the west coast. They say you know from to eight. Pm we got other things to do on monday. So we're gonna watch this clip form the next day. We'll fast forward but we've got other stuff to do. And i can't blame them now. It's just when you see that kind of stuff. It's it's sort of externalised something that i've been struggling with for a while and i'm like well. What do i do with raw. And do i keep watching it because it is. It is rough to watch. It is difficult but the thing here is i i. I feel like i have to watch. What the big leagues are doing. What the what the main what. The main national shows are doing as much as possible so they can really get the the best ensemble view of. what's happening. Where are the bright spots where the lesser. The list of them in. Who's doing good and who's doing that. Like i feel if i zero win on one thing. I'm going to be lacking in my overall capacity for critical analysis or judgment. The if that makes sense. It's like if i decided to only watch e w.
