Hour 1: KD vs. Draymond
Welcome to Spain. And fits the podcast. Sometimes we watch great teams. And all we want to do is find a reason why the dynasty might be failing a reason why there's a crack somewhere in the foundation something that gives everybody else hope that there's some way that amazing incredible team is going to fall apart. And now we are finally getting it really for the first time in the Golden State area era as the warriors drama continues its benefits on ESPN radio the ESPN app. Siriusxm channel eighty Sarah. Spain Jason Fitz with you ESPN radio presented by progressive insurance. And look there's warriors thing has has legs on the drama that we've already been talking about and we'll get to between Kevin Durant and Draymond green. But now, we also Sarah have Steph curry finding out we're finding out he's going to be out at least ten more days. And it feels like maybe for the first time. Nothing's coming easy. At least off the core. For Golden State, and I feel like it has drama fans excited about maybe the possibility that there's some way somehow we don't know who's gonna win the championship this year. Wow. You took that all the way. No. That's not what I'm John. I'm I going wrong. It's it's a massive failure at every level. Let's walk back. And listen to what I said, Sara this is what if you're an NBA fan. You're looking at this. That's why everybody's erupting over this. They wanna find some reason for hope I'm not saying there is any reason for hope I'm saying that's why everybody's jumping up and down over any. I agree in part that there is always a bit of wanting to watch a car crash the same way people occasionally want the worldwide leader to fail, right? If you're the top dog, people are always looking to see if they can find a crack, and I agree that that's part of it. But I also think we've seen over the course of the last couple years how much NBA petty draws eyeballs even on the worst teams in the league the amount of conversation. We've had about the New York Knicks and mellow versus Bill Jackson everything else tells you it's not always about hoping. And wishing and praying that there's a way to get to the top teams. It's just about watching car crashes and enjoying the drama. That's a lot of what's going on here to I'm not going to go as far as to say that this. Feels. It feels a smidge more serious than previous issues. Right dream on being a button pusher. An instigator has always been an issue. But we've always known that as long as he stays out on the court. And and Steve Kerr keeps them under control. It's not going to go past a certain point curry possibly having injury issues or not being able to play a full season has been an issue every year as well. So the the biggest twist here, and the biggest wrinkle is very clearly conversation about Kevin Durant contract, which is something that cannot be solved or fixed or ameliorated right now. It will probably continue to simmer for the entirety of the season. And the question that you and everybody else is asking is can they at least so the wound for now, or is it going to pull farther and farther now just created an image in my mind of a wound being pulled apart? We'll just grossing that is disgusting. Spain on ESPN radio sarahspain Jason Fitz. And and look like I said I to me this doesn't open up the door to anybody else. In the NBA to winning the championship. But it feels a little like the patriots. We've just become obsessed with any level of drama around greatness because it gives everybody a reason. Hey, if you can't love what they're doing on the court. You can't live what they're doing on the field. At least you can then turn around and hate on whatever's happening off the field because it makes it feel better. You know, maybe the end is near right? And that's the only that's the only beacon light most people. I honestly believed that we not we as in you. And I, but we as a general MBA society are so desperate for Kevin Durant to make some sort of a big statement. And go away we're looking for for any drama that we can find dream onto your point brings all the drama. You could ever want. You mentioned the argument, and you and I last night we we played a little bit of Stephen a Smith audio during the show talking about how he saw and it wasn't a big deal. But Stephen again talked about it on I take today and exactly what dream was change. This. This is what Stephen said today process of dream on. Green. According to my sources in the process of Draymond green going off. He brought up Kevin Durant contract. Now, I've heard this Kerr than others may have denied that. I don't give a damn about the denials. I trust my sources on this one. And I'm telling you Draymond green said to Kevin Durant. Essentially, you got one foot in one foot out. I'm not quoting them paraphrasing. You got one foot in one foot out? You're not down with this team. The way, you know, the way the rest of us are and basically questioned Kevin Durant of commitment to this franchise. And that's where it really really crossed the line. And so in a lot of people's eyes from the top down, the belief is they would have had absolutely no credibility whatsoever. With with the rest of the team if they had not suspended Draymond green. Doesn't that make it a big deal? I mean as much as again as much as people wanna make it a big deal just because they want drama on it. This feels like it is a big deal. It's it's pushing a button that's telling us what is a conversation. It's telling us that we're not making it up. This is a conversation in the locker room. And again, it's telling us that the warriors felt like it had to be addressed while Steven and Steven Smith, and I went through the same kind of rollercoaster yesterday of saying I like this. I liked that they're angry about a November regular season game. I liked the fire. This is a team that we need to be reminded still cares. And then the details start coming out. Oh, it spilled out into the locker room. Okay. Well, that's not the end of the world. Well, and then he called them the b word, but that's not very good for your. And then it was about his contract. And now he's suspended and all of a sudden, this is no longer the usual back and forth from dream on in one of his teammates or his coach this to me. Like, I said could very well start to pull apart a team over the. Course of an entire season, especially if we're this early in and we've already got Draymond taking shots and essentially saying you're not all in. Now, I bring you back to the championship parade, and our producer venture-minded me of this. If you remember the GM was asked I heard you told Kevin Durant. He can have whatever contract you wants next year. Oh that was just for the media. He can't have and then Steve Kerr jumps in just a mid level contract. Ha ha ha sounds like a joke. And then the reporter follows up because I know last year you told Steph curry he could have any contract he wants to. And then the GM Meyer says, yeah. Well, that was different. He's been here from the way before days, he's earned it. That has the whole crowd. Oh, and it was awkward, and even if it was meant to be a joke. No one heard it as a joke because the the clamoring against Katie has always been about joining the team late. And when the conversation is about whether he's leaving. And now his own teammates are joining in and saying, maybe you're not all in just the way. Bob Myers said you're not you haven't been all in since the beginning that makes it a lot easier for this to grow throughout the season. Well, and I think it's such a great point that it is early in the season to have this sort of drama, we expect it I think a little bit because in the marathon style of an NBA season. If we were at the all star break in here in these rumblings. I might say, okay. You know? That's what's going to happen when you're doing this, and you're K, but we're hearing this right now so early in windy Bryant win horse ESPN NBA insider was on the wheel gained show earlier. He talked about it just a matter of time before the warriors had this happened. This is what he said there are people who are around the team who Willie wonder if this team is going to hold together for. Other year that was said before the season even started that wasn't even in the the battle. And again, I'm not going to overreact with single moment. That happens with the team. This team has a lot of stuff. That's happened. There's incredible amount of apple with all those guys in that locker room. I just think that it existed before this. And maybe there was always going to be a breaking point. Maybe if it didn't happen after a disappointing rough loss in LA, did it would've happened after a rough loss in Oklahoma City or Houston, you know, New York or somewhere, and it is interesting because as you looted to earlier, so when you think about what the warriors are doing in this by suspending by suspending dream for a game. They're coming in and saying, hey, Katie, we got your back. They're coming into a guy, that's notoriously sensitive and saying don't worry, we got your back here. I think we're going to have all eyes on what that means moving forward throughout the season. Because if they're protecting Katie to get him to resign. That's only gonna create. A larger divide as the season goes on. Yeah. And we'll get into that later in the show. We'll actually talk to Nick free del who's on that beat because it will be interesting to see if this move to suspend dream aunt was to make sure K D feels like the team and everyone else is on his side. And if that becomes a trend where at every turn they need to prove to him how much they love him and how much they want him. Then even if everybody else wants them to stick around, and they're totally on board with why that's happening. That is frustrating for anyone who's been on a team before there's already favoritism at the top for the best players, but if becomes at my expense to prove to this guy how much we wanna keep them around. Because we're worried about his loyalty when my loyalty is assumed and has always been there. That's frustrating. Spain and Fitz we thought the Levy on drama had ended. And maybe it has for the Steelers, but it hasn't for the NFL as a whole Spain Fitz on ESPN radio the ESPN app. Siriusxm channel eighty Sarah Spain Jason Fitz right now. One thing I know is that neither the Steelers nor Levy on her cell, sending each other flowers. Maybe if they had this wouldn't be happening. You guys can celebrate fall birthdays, anniversaries, or just, you know, make up for a fourteen point five million dollar. Hold out with multicolored roses from one eight hundred flowers dot com right now. One eight hundred flowers is offering a bouquet of twenty four multicolored roses twenty four bucks to order. Twenty four multicolored roses for twenty four bucks. Go to one eight hundred flowers dot com slash ESPN. Sarah, so many questions right now about Levy on not with the Steelers anymore. Like those questions we know he's not gonna play for the Steelers this year. But what it means moving forward has everybody scratching their head. And I think one of the hardest parts about it is a conversation that if you people have had over the last twenty four hours about what Levy on could've should've or might have done differently. Ultimately, he reaches where he is right now. Now because he decided that he was going to do things different than anyone else has we just don't know yet. Whether or not it's going to have a great result. Yeah. It's impossible to save for sure whether lady and bell one, quote, unquote, one of this. We do know that he absolutely lost fourteen and a half million dollars. Did he gain enough in terms of erasing a year or keeping tread off his tires or proving his point that what he gets in his next contract makes up for that fourteen and a half million? That's yet to be seen. Right. But a lot of people, and I think smartly are arguing that he easily could have gotten both probably that he didn't need to sit out an entire year that that will become a question Mark for teams if they are deciding whether or not to give him as much as he's demanding and that he could have probably come back for part of the season earlier made up some of the money that he lost while still establishing that he wasn't happy with the franchise tag, not putting a full seasons tread on his. Tires and ending up at a new place with the guaranteed money is looking for especially considering fits the language that he used at the beginning of this holdout and his teammates, obviously seemed to believe it as well when they were mad that he didn't show up was I'm gonna have my best year yet. Right. Like, he didn't think he was sitting out the whole year a wonder why he I mean, I wonder how everybody missed on this so much you know, what I mean like for for Levy onto to act the way he did for the Steelers to seem surprised by his actions. How did everybody not anticipate the other side of it differently in we we've talked so much about the fourteen and a half million dollars? And you know, there were even some questions. I know will Cain raised. I think Golic and wingo also raised about why didn't he take out an insurance policy and find a way to play. I don't think this was about the fourteen and a half million dollars. Once he turned down the massive contract. Once he turned down the big deal. He was reportedly offered it wasn't about the fourteen and a half. It was all about what big deal he thinks he is going to get. So I. We have to remember that as much as we come back and say why not ensure yourself or one give yourself the ability to still play make the money. I think Dan Graciano pointed out smartly on ESPN dot com article that's up right now that this wasn't about fourteen and a half million dollars or playing football this year. This is about the megadeal he thinks he's going to get in the fourteen and a half was just collateral damage. But here's the thing. He was offered according to in Rappaport of the NFL network. He was offered seventy million over five years, which is roughly fourteen million per season with reported guaranteed. Thirty three million to be paid out over the first two years the deal that girlie got that was presumably more in line with what he was looking for was in the end only two million dollars more guaranteed and a half a million dollars per season more over the course of four years. So you're talking about a grand total of four million dollars. But you all out on fourteen and a half. Well, but you're also talking about. You're also talking about the fact that he was adamant about at one point that he wanted to be paid not just as a running back, but as the wide receiver also so that would change his franchise value. So a few wants even more than girl, you think he's going to get it. I don't know if he's going to cause that's my issue is, but you want something all you want, and you can say I'm going to reset the running backs market and unwilling to sit out, and I'll miss a whole year in my prime Inusop in a sport where my position the the link longevity of that position is getting shorter and shorter by the year. I'm willing to do all that. Because I need to reset the market. I don't think he's going to reset it. Somebody's gonna pay him in my mind. I mean, I think somebody or the early I think in the girly range, you know, it didn't you just say yesterday that you thought that you wouldn't want to take him on because at some point during that deal. He's gonna decide well, I'm not the highest paid anymore because the market's changed again synonymous out again. Correct. I personally wouldn't do it. Somebody will. I mean, if there's anything we know talented people no matter what they've done in their past. I mean, just as people or as athletes matter what they've done talented people are going to get overpaid. And well, let's listen to this an interesting. Let's let's listen to what Stephen a Smith said on first day today because there is a there is a way that Latvian bell. Despite all that talent and not putting any tread on his tires this year could end up not getting what he's looking for Colin capping Nick is suing the lead full collusion. Do you really really think that if they colluded with Colin cap and nickel they colluded about Colin capital? If you have an inkling that they colluded about Colin capital. You dig the same isn't going to apply to Levy on bell. You. You are trying to set precedent. You are trying to send a message. Do you really think league owners are going to allow that to happen? We won't know have this plays out until we see what contract levian Bill receives ultimately end from home. But I'm willing to venture to guess that they're going to make Schule somehow some way this brother gets pinched. When all is said and done because if they don't it will be sending the message that other players can do this. Okay. Couple quick things. It's not exactly the same as capture Nick. So if you if you tuned out when you heard his name, I hope you were still listening to know that it's not about it being the same thing. Because clearly there's a lot more animus and passionate surrounding what capper Nick was doing. Then a guy asking for a hold out, but it is a worthy conversation because fits it would require all of the teams to be on it together. And that's what's tough. Right. You're going to get that one rogue team. That's like, yeah. Yeah. Let's nobody offer him what he's looking for. Meanwhile, they're like we really need. So we're going to do it. But. I do think it's worth thinking about the idea that owners are looking at this and saying number one Steelers don't seem to be hurting too much without him. And number two. If we set a precedent like this how many other guys at different positions. How many other guys are going to be trying to pull the same thing? I think the thing that stands out to me the most when you go back to again reference. The Dan Graziano article understand the reporting is that he was offered a huge deal a couple years ago, but crazzy on the quote is no way did any offer from the Steelers who stubborn traditional contracts structure guarantees only the signing bonus looked like that referencing the Todd Gurley deal when when he turned down the megadeal it was no longer about fourteen and a half million at that the fourteen half million is inconsequential because you don't wanna destitution you don't want to get out hurt yourself for fourteen and a half when he turned down, the whatever it was. And pro football talk reported as you mentioned in the thirty ish million and guarantees when he turned that down it became about topping that number so the fourteen and a half is that's why it's collateral damage because if he comes out. Any plays, and he hurts himself after he turned down thirty plus million and guarantees than than he's lost every opportunity, right? But that's like playing poker. And he went too far. And that's why it's an all or nothing proposition. It's what is that in spades? Shoot the moon. You realize you're in so bad that you have to try to be the worst. But if you're not it's like the Atkins diet if cheat right? I'm going gonna go all in. It's like Kito. I'm going to go all in on fat and protein, and if you put some carbs in now, you're just fat now not died at all. But but I see your point in that. I do think though, that's very all or nothing. And that's the sport itself is always risky, and I agree. Your with your point. He wants thirty three versus fourteen if it's going to be guaranteed. But he's also then willing to say this is just a business for me. Right. I don't care if I don't get to play for a year. I don't care if I disappoint my teammates. I don't care if everybody's mad at me. I don't care if I don't get do thing. I love it's just about the money. Spain and Fitz Spain it's on ESPN radio the ESPN app and siriusxm channel eighty Sarah. Spain Jason Fitz a love this Rachel Nichols. You guys know what a fan of Rachel such incredible work. She tweeted so this week in the NBA Jimmy Butler and tip standoff ends after he's traded to an east contender Carmelo and the rockets head towards. Break-up warriors infighting leads to dream on suspension. And it's only Wednesday like, that's that's so true. And everything that he never lets us down. It's just the magic it's the magic. And look we we got a little straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones. Best networks, no contracts in the form of Tracy McGrady ESPN NBA analyst on the jump giving. Carmelo some career advice Tekoa, Tracy said honestly thing retire. I really do. I don't want him to go through another situation. Like this and people just are just poor negatively on this man legacy. I really think because it hasn't worked out the last two teams SCO head and you have hall of fame career SCO head and let it go. Not straight talk. Straight talk wireless, nationwide coverage on America's largest and most dependable four G L T networks. Sarah, the legacy conversation is always an interesting moment. Athletes will the recency bias of what we've seen from Carmelo over the last few years taint any ability to act. Actually look at his legacy on by with from from a level playing field. No, I think a lot of people will be able to especially when there's a little bit of distance from this tenure with the rockets, and what happened last year with the thunder able to be reminded of his greatness at the Olympic level has national championship at Syracuse and his scoring abilities throughout his time in the NBA before we get to legacy, though, I think first of all I wanna put out there that when a player has achieved as much as Carmelo in terms of notoriety and ability, and I and I think there's I'm using my words very carefully because he hasn't achieved that much in terms of the bigger goals of the game right titles and playoff appearances and leading teams in a way that people found meaningful. He's been a very good score somewhat argue a volume shooter, and he's been a guy who's done his best work at the Olympic level in a different kind of format than the NBA and at the collegiate level. But when he's done as much as he's done. I think he is earned the right to go out. However way. He wants. And I remember having this conversation about Michael, Jordan. I didn't want Jordan to go to the wizards. I would've loved for it to events with that beautiful shot arm up in the air, admiring it another championship. But he was Michael Jordan. And if he wanted to push himself and see what could happen and with the wizards as disappointing as that was the I'm not, and we're not in a position to tell them not to do that. So even if Tracy mcgrady's coming from the right place. I think it's going to be up to mellow how diminished a role he's willing to play and how diminished a skill studies willing to exhibit without it feeling like for him as well that it's taking away from his legacy. I it's so interesting you bring up Jordan because we don't really think of the wizards years as a general part of the conversation about him like, and that's the truth of for many, great athletes in every sport, essentially that they're defined by the body of work that we remember the most I think one of the interesting and difficult parts of trying to quantify mellow. Is that he's defined not necessarily for new success with anyone team? He's really defined by how he approached the business of basketball. We're just talking about lay beyond and what lady on bell. Actually, what's important to him. Is it playing football isn't money. What is it there? There is at least a perception that Carmelo every chance he had to go out and figure out how to make more money made more money, and he took that head of winning, and he took that ahead of contending for championships. And I have no problem with that the the capitalist in me loves it. But it absolutely has to define what we remember about you when we look back and say, well, what did you accomplish other than getting super-rich? Yeah. And that's always been my issue with mellow, and we had been lines on last night. He and I are always beefing about this because he stands hard for mellow. And I've always said that I just at every turn when he has been in a position to prioritize money and place over ability to win or best opportunity to win. He has. Chosen the former and for me, particularly and I noticed this. And it's not about me wanting him on the bulls. But it was most noticeable when he had the choice of going to a stack bull's team or going to a washed Knicks team, and he chose the venue and the place and you're like, okay, great. Well, if he wanted to play in New York because MSG and everything else then he should have been willing to restructure his contract. So they could put some talent around him. Yes. James Dolan's, a terrible owner. Yes, they made some bad decisions surrounding the talent on that team. When he was there. They were also hamstrung and handcuffed by his contract. And if you decide that money is the number one, then you can't later on be frustrated when people point out how little winning you did that's the biggest that's the biggest qualifier. I think for any athlete for me. I have no problem with going out and getting yours. Don't try then later to revise history and create a poor me scenario because Carmelo could have. And if there's anything we learnt we've learned in the last few years, particularly with NBA play. Layers. We're going to look at this era so differently on what players prioritize because players are they control their own destiny in the NBA. They're finding a way to go where they want play with who they want and finding their own path to whatever their individual greatness is going to be. So as much as we can look back at Carmelo and say, well, man, he never won. And he was on some really bad teams will that was by choice. And that is that has to be part of the qualifier in the conversation. Now, you are hanging out in New York right now. So you feel like maybe a little more. Feeling like going out and getting the mellow jersey. Like, maybe a Knicks hat. No, absolutely not. I'm listen as much as I have been critical of Carmelo Anthony's decision at times, he very clearly has a tremendous legacy that he leaves behind, and I just think what's making this more complicated as a couple of things his buddies some of whom are in a similar position. Dwayne Wade being among them are kind of defending for him. But I don't know that they would actually want him on their team. Right. People are creating this argument that he's being used as a scapegoat for the rockets lack of success, which I haven't seen by anyone except for one report that said a source inside the team said he was being scapegoated most people. I'm just seeing are defending against the idea that he should be scapegoated. No one's actually saying that everyone saying that Houston has a bunch of problems and one of them is that he's not a good fit. There's a five thirty eight story up that tells you with advanced disticts how fast. And how far Carmelo Anthony has fallen from his peak, and they point out that you've got to be pretty high if it'd be very good in order to suffer so large decline, which he was. But that it happened very very fast for him. And you are seeing him dip in every single category in ways that it's not surprising that the rockets wanted to move on that doesn't make him a scapegoat that makes them smart because the veteran's minimum, and you're not losing a lot of money when you say, all right? Let's cut ties if he goes and finds another team and he's fantastic than all of us. Eat our words, but this is not about scapegoating. This is about accurate assessment of where he is right now. And I think the legacy he leaves behind is going to be more about what a great Olympic player and collegiate player is then just, you know, a high level score which everybody is always known. He was but that was always counteracted by being a defensive liability, and he certainly has not adjusted to the way the game is played now Spain and fits better than Bernard Twitter. What's better than burners? Social media brothers social media. That's what. Kevin Durant has. Now. Spain Fitz on ESPN radio ESPN app. Siriusxm channel eighty Sarah. Spain Jason Fitz hanging out with you in look, I'm all in for any ounce of drama that I can get off social media. We've been talking about NBA drama, but leave it to the Durant family with some family drama as teetering Kevin's brother the Instagram account. T- Durant gives us true colors ain't hard to see when someone is med. It's so much clearer now LL instead of competing with what's already written just follow along before the greatness is done rubbing off on you and people see you for what you really are. Wow role. You're helping street while sipping some tea is what he's doing. Oh, that's well done. I mean, I just can't I can't wrap my head around it, Sarah. You know, there's a moment, especially when if you've already had your share of social media issues, are you texting your brothers saying, please for the love of all things. Holy just stopped. Right. Well, this is the same brother who on Instagram. Commented in one of his. Yeah. Get one of the one more ring, and let's get the hell out of here. And then he was like vacation. That's what he meant off season. Yeah. I mean, the whole Mike do they just sit around are? They gonna sit around on thanksgiving. It'd be like how can we troll all fans everywhere on this fantastic day? 'cause that's what it feels like you're like, the I'm not great on the godfather. But frito, right. Freight owes the one who nobody likes can't do much if you're the freight o of the family, you're like how can I get some attention, right? Somehow get people to care about me. Have you ever you ever make things tough on my brother can have you ever watched the show wall burger like the wall out why what about like, you know, the the Walberg brothers the marquee, Mark and Donny who will that incredible success? They basically he goes by Marky, Mark, and yeah, he should they basically they created a hamburger spot for the other brother. That's like a really like. Well, the couponing. Yeah. The manning of the family, and so now there's a whole chain of wall, burgers all across the country. But you do have to look at it and say man, if you're a chef, and you might be a great ship. You might have the best hamburgers in the world. But when you're brothers, you know, you got one that's that's a famous actor and the other was in new kids on the block. You gotta you gotta sell burgers. Yeah. I got it got to be some good burgers. I'm not sure there's a lot, you know. Kevin Durant and Durant's brother is doing to bring you, you know, you keep creating more burner accounts that I was Kevin Durant. Now, it's Kevin Durant. Durant? Bro rant. He's bro his ranting. That's why. Right. That's I'm gonna talk about this later and see if t Durant is a doing any favors for his, bro. Yeah. That's fantastic. Spain and Fitz on ESPN radio. Sarahspain Jason Fitz. Speaking of people, we're gonna talk to we're gonna talk to ESPN's Dave mcmenamin who covers the Lakers on the shell Pennzoil performance line at the top of the hour. But I wanted to get your thoughts a little bit on some of the conversation because we find out at least there's been some reports that LeBron almost cracked is. You know, it is wit's end essentially with this team that had to remind himself. Hey, I knew what I was signing up for. And it's it's a reminder that whatever we see with the Lakers is going to be over analyzed it. Feels particularly volatile. And when you add to that the number of things LeBron is doing right now just be we expected the the number of outside ventures. He's taking on is there any concern in your mind on the ability of the greatest basketball player of our generation to be. Able to handle everything that's on him right now in LA. Well, I'll tell you why thought of this because I was I was listening to a show catching up on the lebatardshow a couple couple of days or weeks behind and they were talking about LeBron getting the rights to the Friday the thirteenth franchise. And that's his new game in Hollywood's gonna reboot Friday the thirteenth, and I was thinking to myself. That's the list of things are really starting to add up. These got the shop. He's got a documentary. The warriors of liberty city. He's got the HBO flick student athletes that's another documentary. He's got shut up in dribble on Showtime. He's got another HBO on Muhammad Ali. He's got a Netflix show called Madame CJ Walker. He's got a Netflix show called top. Boy, a CW in development called lean on me and NBC in development called hoops, an NBC in development called brotherly love. This is all through his growing Hollywood slate of projects with his Springhill entertainment and digital platform. Uninterrupted not to mention. All of his endorsements and playing basketball. All right. Let's throw that one on the end and taking meetings with Leonardo DiCaprio and everybody else. So it's not for me to say. I don't care how the bronze spends his time. But I was thinking to myself that when you're Lakers fans and the excitement of him coming to your city was able to sort of sh quiet down any of the commentary from people who said, this is an interesting move. I wonder if this is just Tim sort of setting up for the next part of his career early getting one foot in Hollywood and one foot in basketball at the same time and everybody was a Laker fan. Oh, we don't care. He's coming to our city. All right, purple and gold. Let's do this. And then I'm just curious how long once that initial joy fades away. Are they going to be patient with him? If it feels like the team isn't as good or if he's not as invested or if he's maybe focusing too much on other things, I think he gets this year. But then next year there is a level of expectation that will come from Lakers fans. There's an expectation not even next season next summer. There's an expectation. In that they will land a big name for agent that wants to play with them. Then there's the expectation that they'll immediately become competitors. And if all of this warriors drama results in any roster change, I believed Lakers fans will walk into next season saying, okay, we want a championship. And that's a high expectation from a player that as great as LeBron is does. I mean, he is aging and he's putting on a ton of minutes. Like, they he should be getting himself into a situation where eventually hit a wall. Like, he's never hit that wall. I get it. I understand it. But someday it will happen when brave never hits a wall. But someday it happens. Right. So that's when I think they get impatient. Well, I forgot about the Space Jam reboots too. So he's got to get his body ready for the mon- stars. You know, they are a tough match-up no series the guy who before has said he needs to go off of all social media when he goes into zero Dirk Twenty-three because he needs to only focus on basketball. And that was just I can't be on Twitter or Instagram unless I'm like, you miss perfect booty pictures. Well, well, you know, what a meeting with Leo is more important than anything Twitter has to offer. But it's invigorating is. Yeah, I I would only imagine it's all charming right now. And it's all something that's easy to root for fun to have a conversation around when you think it's gonna lead to greatness. But when the greatness, if the greatness doesn't come and come quickly, I think there will be a quickly hit wall for Lakers fans because expectations will be there.
