We celebrate national rubber ducky day on this day? No. Okay, it first appeared on the Sesame Street calendar in 1973 as rubber duckies birthday. Very cool. Okay, but do you know what the world's largest rubber duck is called? No idea. It's mama duck. She's more than 6 stories high and weighs over 30,000 pounds. What about the top she's in? She's on the Lake. On national rubber ducky day celebrate with this and other trivia and see why this ducky is still the one. One of the greatest songwriters in American history was born on July 4th, 1826, which seems only fitting. Over a century before Elvis Presley or The Beatles were topping the charts, Stephen foster was making his indelible mark on American culture. While his name may not be instantly recognizable, his songs certainly are. In 1847, the song O Susanna became his first big hit and catapulted him into fame. Prosecutors charged Baldwin with multiple counts of reckless driving in criminal damage to government property. A judge issued Baldwin a $40,000 bond in a court hearing last week. He's due in court next month. Nearly 200 dogs were rescued from a dangerous and filthy hoarding home in western Illinois, almost all the dogs are border collies and officials say they were left in fecal matter and many of the dogs were very skinny from malnutrition. Rescue crews spent three days getting the dogs out, 59 year old Karen plambeck was arrested on three counts of aggravated animal cruelty. Court document shows she was previously charged with animal cruelty in 2019, neighbor Stephen foster says the dog situation has been a problem for several years, but they didn't know how bad it really was. When I heard there was 200, I mean, I fell out of my ranger. I'm like, I knew there was a lot of dogs, but I didn't know there was that many. Mercer county animal control officers are trying to find homes for the dogs and are accepting donations to care for them. The pritzkers once again engaged in a bidding war at the Illinois state fair sale of champions. The grand champion steer went to First Lady MK pritzker, who, like in years past, got into a bidding war with the governor, the winning bid was $105,000, tying last year's record bid. Also, by the First Lady, governor pritzker says the young exhibitors are the future of the state's most important industry, agriculture. And they have dedicated their young lives to this work, getting up at three or 4 a.m. to feed the cattle to going up, he ever changing whims of the weather to raise the finest livestock in Illinois. The steer was shown by Ashton geyer of Richmond, Illinois. It will be donated to the central Illinois food bank. And President Biden signed the inflation reduction act into law. He said he intends to show Americans that democracy still works with this bill. The measure includes money to fight climate change, a $2000 cap for out of pocket prescription drug costs for Medicare recipients and a new corporate minimum tax. And now WGN sports. "So. I mean, I almost think like, you know, his season and he'd be headed to stud that have some convenient reason to retire. I mean, he's earned 3.5 million and it's a bunch of grade one wins and I don't think they're cutting him back to 6 for a while. I don't see what that would do for him. They're getting to run poorly in that race at 6 furlongs. When the whole goal all along has been to run him in the classic. I mean, when he won that breeders cup dirt mile, Steve, I mean, they were full steam ahead of the classic and yeah, the Dubai World Cup definitely took some wind out of their sales. But, you know, if he runs, if he runs second, a decent second to olympiad. I don't think they'll definitely give up the ghost just yet on two turn races. Interesting notes I like Steve's opinion there. I'll tell you what, and bob and the standard just mentioned it in the race day show earlier. If you like anyone other than life is good the Saturday. If you like olympiad, you're going to get a better price on them than you've seen in a long, long time. Now, he was three to two last time out when he won the Stephen foster. I don't think he'll be as low as three to two. He's two to one on the morning line. I think there's just going to be way too much life is good money in the race. And, you know, American Revolution in hot rod Charlie always take money in their races. So if you're an olympiad fan, you're probably going to get a better win price on him this Saturday in the Whitney than you've seen in a long, long time should be a really exciting running of the Whitney. Steve mentioned something about Jackie's warrior going in. Before we go to our break, I'm going to ask you this, James, and I want your opinion after the break. And of course, I'd love a big play for the weekend as well. Is there a path for Jackie's warrior to be horse of the year in 2022? Don't want your answer yet, but think about that. He's undefeated thus far. Probably going to run two more times this year. There's a very good chance he could end the year undefeated. Can Jackie's warrior, if that happens, have a legitimate argument to be the eclipse award winner for horse of the year 2022. We take our final break. We come back, phone lines are still open. "We saw a lot of great performances this past weekend from around North America of course, getting to see life is good and the nehru charge it winning so impressively in the dwyer CC with a triumphant defending of her crown in the princess Rooney down at Gulfstream park olympiad, of course, winning the Stephen foster, but maybe the best race of the weekend was one of four graded stakes on the card this past Saturday at woodbine the great Nassau. You heard it their heads bobbing on the line lady spite spare crystal cliffs, our flash drive in the end. It was too tight to call, and it was too tight to call. A dead heat for the win between lady spike spear and crystal cliffs. It looked like lady spike spear was in deep trouble in the race. She made the lead was headed by our flash drive at every reason to stop running at this point, crystal cliffs coming on, but you heard it in the call, ladies fight smear digging in, fighting back, not over for her, and she ends up coming back to dead heat for the win with crystal cliffs. Lady spite spear, who was the 5 to two favorite in the race, crystal cliffs was the third choice in the wagering at three to one there were four of them between 5 to two and 7 to two in the wagering and they ended up running one, two, three, four in the race lady spike spear and crystal cliffs. "Tonight and every Thursday night here on the network it's your hour HR RN nation to call and talk about whatever you'd like in the field of thoroughbred racing, whether it's betting, whether it's business, whether it's good, whether it's bad, we're here for you. We want to talk about it too. The number to call in is 888-966-4776. That's triple 8 9 6 6 four 7 7 6. James haven't gotten to speak with you since last week of course we wrapped up another huge meat at Churchill downs and went out in a big way with the Stephen foster and the Florida Lee as well as the bashford manor this past weekend. That's good evening Bobby always good to be on with you and we did. We saw big Reese from olympiad in the Stephen foster, she derrida, bounced back from marana up in the la to IM with a real strong wind in the Florida league and gulf port and exciting made and we saw maiden on Saturday afternoons maiden in a maiden special way Damon's mouth went by 12 months and then we saw golf port for Steve asthma and is now two for two. Come back and win the bachelor manner by 12 and a half. So some good steaks, life is good, one real impressively as well as charge it at Belmont. And then we got a number of us stakes at a bunch of tracks that's coming week. This Saturday. So lots to talk about and encourage our listeners, give us a call about that or anything else in horse racing. Also saw CC for the second straight year when the princess Rooney and earn a birth, the breeders cup Philly and mayor sprint, aloha west, got back to his winning ways on winning this past Saturday over at Churchill downs was a fun weekend and as you mentioned a lot of good racing coming up. Let's head out to the phone's Tom in St. Louis. You've got Bobby and James on the brisket dot com call in show. Bobby James, how are you, gentlemen? Hey, Tom. Hey, just want to comment on your question. You asked at the end of the last hour, and it led me into something I was going to mention anyway, so I'll tie it into one. You mentioned about whether you'd see flight line and life is good running a mile or a mile and a quarter. I obviously think I like most of the betters would like to see them at a shorter distance of a mile, a mile in 70, something like that. Which leads me into my thought. You've got some meats during closing up Belmont and chart show San Anita closed up the major racetracks of closed up. Why doesn't one of these smaller mid sized do something put up the money you get sponsors do whatever and maybe instead of having a traditional stake every year like the Stephen foster and all that. Sometimes go into the schedule, mar April, may. And say, hey, look, we're going to take we're going to put it up and we're going to do our best to bring it in this year. You know, run into my own 70. Am I going to say bring horses? That would attract and be what the people want to see. And yet still have these two horses be able to take the rest of the year, run a prep at 9 furlongs or ten for a long to prep for that race in the fall. I find this as well Saratoga starting and other meats are starting. This is kind of almost a dead period. And you would think that a track would be able to put something together.

"Who got married? Terry Finley, son, Ryan. Oh, cool. I'm sure that was a time. That was a really good time. It was a great wedding. Beautiful weather was good. It was outside overlooking Saratoga Lake and a beautiful farm. It was a nice day. Yeah, well, congratulations to Ryan then. That's great. Good kid too. Fantastic. Yes, he is. Good family. All right, question number four. Today's grade two Stephen foster at Churchill downs is one of 8 win in your in races for the breeders cup classic division. The others are the February stakes in Japan, which was already won by cafe farrow earlier this year. The Haskell, the Whitney, the Judd man international in the UK, the Pacific classic the jockey club gold cup and the awesome again stakes. Which of those 8 prep races do you guys view as being the most critical if you want to win the breeders cup classic? Timmy? Well, since I did my homework is Dale well knows that I did on this now the breeders cup win in your end started in 2007. And since then, horses that have prepped for their prep, heading to the breeders cup, 5 of them were in the Whitney. 5 of them won the 5 of them were ran in the Whitney. Four of them ran into the jockey club gold cup. Then you go to the Haskell and a couple awesome again too. Stephen foster had one. But there's some other horses that had a different path altogether. You look at arrogate. I mean, his preparations last race before the classic was the Travers. The same thing for American pharaoh. I mean, I think that I think the win in wins win in your ends are an important piece to get to the class. I don't know if it's the all the main reason to get to run in a race like that just to get to the classic. Horsemen know the schedules for their horses and I think they're going to end Dale can tell more about this. They're going to send the horse where they think the horse is fits and is ready to run. But as far as the best race of this group to get to, the breeders cup, I'm going to go with the Whitney. Nick's goal is another. He won last year, won the Whitney last year. Kentucky won the Lucas classic and on the way to the breeders cup. But I think the Whitney is a key race for horses that are heading to the breeders cup because it fits so well on the schedule, you know, early August, and then a lot of them will race one more time. Some might just train up to the race. Yeah, I want to agree with you on the Whitney. I love the way anyway. I think it's just a special race. It's one of the premier races in the country. But it's a good prep for a couple of reasons. Because it does, it gives you options. If you win it, you can sit back and wait and just run in the classic if you got a type of horse. We got a horse think needs more work. You can get one more race between the two. So we're going to need to meet the best prep race, but that's one of my favorite old horse races in the country anyway. Dale, did it seem, I mean, from a trainer's standpoint, is it advantageous, let's say you're running the Whitney, and then you train up to the breeders cup. Would you rather do something like that? Or would you rather race in another race before the breeders cup? Well, it depends a lot on your horse. I mean, I personally, if everything was perfect, probably want to run one more time, but can you take a horse like America federal member? He got beat with Trevor's. I don't know if you remember that. But I do agree. Who beat him? Okay, horse keen ice beating. Yeah. Yo, I remember that horse. Did someone deserve this year? Who trained to be nice? That happened to be me, but besides that, that's not why I brought it up, but if my point is, I think America Farrell was probably getting a little tired. He didn't run into preparations and then officers from The Crown races and the high school and he came over. I think it did him good to have the time between the two races. And he came back and ran gangbusters in the classic king. These 8 horses nowadays have to be pampered more than they used to be. Well, it sure seems like it. I mean, I don't know why, I don't know why that is. I don't know what's changed, but we're talking the other day for a horse. We had ten days between races and my father was training. That was a time offline was put on him. Right. Right. He would run over 7 days. And now you can't do anymore. And I don't know why. I don't know what it is about the horse or if you tried to. The media would tear you up. Is it because of the breathing do you think? I really don't know. I don't know what it is to you. I think we have two things a lot different than they used to. And I think that all plays into it. Everybody's getting so calculating and they're cheaper horses. It would be common to see one on the program would run 50 times. You don't see that anymore. When you consider it to be the bigger upset. Court vision beating gold at kova or keen ice beating American pharaoh. The most historic one. Yes. I think the question to beat a Triple Crown winner. I'll tell you about core vision winning that race. That wasn't a power packed mile. But to me it seemed like it was all horses that may have gone over the tipping point a little bit. And we're on the downside of their careers instead of up. And he was doing so well that day. It was just he just had a perfect day..

"Welcome to January 13th, 2022 in the national day calendar. Today we celebrate sticky stories and a man who topped the charts. We see them every day, but have you ever paid attention to the stickers on many fruits and vegetables? These are known as PLU's or price lookup labels, and they're the same everywhere around the world. So if you buy a banana in Germany, the coat on it will be identical to the one you buy in Minnesota. These stickers also have a story to tell. If a fruit has been grown with pesticides, the four digit code starts with a three or four. If it's GMO, the code is 5 digits and starts with an 8, and if the produce is organic, there's a 5 digit code that starts with a 9. A lot of info for such a small item, right? And here's a tip for celebrating national sticker day. If you can't remove that sticker from your Apple, use a piece of tape to get it off more easily. I hate trying to get that thing off. There you go. There's your tip. One of the greatest songwriters in American history was born on July 4th, 1826, which seems only fitting. "That got something percolating. Okay that's good. We've got We're gonna go to the lines right now. Tom and saint louis tom. Do you have a good memory for us. Yes i do. Bobby yes i do. I in fact. I'm going to give you a couple of You know the first thing. I i i wanna say is a memory as a child growing up at a little a little track where i went is they had a distance series and it started out at nine for long and every saturday night they would add an eighth of a mile. And i'm gonna tell a quick story. And if i'm too long guys telling me to wrap it up but you every week they would do this throughout the entire meet. Every saturday night it would be a raise. The trainers would get point but it was interesting that you see horses and with the exception of the marathon. You don't see horses on a regular basis riding on my three quarters two miles two and a half miles and i'm gonna talk about my father. My father was the head and the whole standings and everything like that. And it's a hall of famer. Dave gall store but long story short. My father at worst rent is rent. Two and a half miles. Put two horses in the race out of five soggy night dot it was. Foggy was in san francisco except we didn't have a good football team down just the big red at the time. Not the forty niners and literally when they run through. It was one of these nights. You couldn't be three feet in front of you. They decided to have the races. This is gonna be the last race. Was the six on the card. They weren't going to have the rest of it. They but they said the series. We're going to have the fathers horses. go out. you know and come by the stands the first time on a mile track and the second time and the third time. They came down the stretch. This horse the dave golf came out of nowhere and nip. My dad's source you'd on every step of the race. I the wire years later. Dave told my dad. You know what. I ducked down the three quarters shoot. After the first time we came around. I only read only random by one and a half but seeing these kind of things made the fans come out. You kinda got to know the horses. You got to know this whether it be a distance series or whether it be you know kind of these things where they raised every other week or whatever. They didn't have all we get in the van and go somewhere else. We don't we don't go to ellis to run the two mile race. We don't go to this. We don't go to that Literally you had that kind of thing. Another memory. That i had as a child growing up was always you. My dad took me to oak on every year for the arkansas derby and they wouldn't here had had a race. The arkansas derby was always the last race of the car. The last race of the me they had some race. Afterwards i remember. I think it was a contest that two guys that started off in a in a thing but they had to go out and do it. The half-mile pole jog or run in a foot ray. Half-mile of the people stood around and watch this race. And they kinda publicized that and while there was no para mutual betting. You could find a couple of a while. I'm going to bet on that guy in the red shirt and they bet because these guys were locally known. I don't wanna run track and field of where it was that but those are two memories you know. The other one is that i had grown up was on thanksgiving morning. You know going to the race track and you know you were done. By two o'clock they had eleven am post. It was an abbreviated car. But you were done by two. You can still go home and you know. Have a thanksgiving dinner at four o'clock or whatever mom stay home and cook while we all went to the track and when we were in college we really thought that was cool. You stay out late the wednesday before you get with your buddies and go to the track and you know maybe a little food to soak up the hangover have one beer before you went and spent time with the family things like that you get lost in this whole age of let better on our phone or let's have that you don't you lose that touch. I even remember churchill in the late nineties. Early two thousand opening day. You did a t shirt or they always had. Kind of a giveaway. You know to kind of make people come out and they had even the little handicapping seminar in the morning and on stephen foster day. The i'm not an autograph person but my former boss was and i drug him to the track for the first time so he could get the connections of the derby win. Smarty jones wanted he could get calvin autograph and the owners autograph and you went through the little table. And he looks at bought fifteen programs to go through the line fifteen times and get them you know. Get the get the items. Get the item sign and things like that. It just seemed there was a lot more personal touches on too long now. Tom i really appreciate it and thanks very much for your call. Those are all phenomenal memories. But we're up against the break ed. He specifically mentioned like the thanksgiving day in the early posts. You know this is something that a lot of tracks used to do. Hollywood park used to run like eleven or eleven thirty on that day and people could still get home and watch football and have thanksgiving dinner. Calder used to actually run on christmas day. They'd have the christmas day handicap. But you know when. I kind of went the way of the dodo with anyone running on christmas day. Now.

So he'll always be He was a place in our hearts you know. Did you find brandon that. After that victory year phone started ringing. You started to get people talking. More about brendon walsh and sending you a few more horses here and there did you find that it was almost an immediate increase in attention after that when he went on thankfully might even done that fall and he wondered. Well was the old breeders cup marathon as well. So yeah i mean it definitely would Was it goes. You know he definitely did did more for us than probably any horses done. You know he put us on the map. Finacially kinda got the whole thing. Go and but Yeah i mean that's that's the best form of advertising right is when you can win these He's type races. And now you're sitting here with a horse. That's among the favorites in the grade. One whitney you have a horse in the gray to glens falls stakes at saratoga. Today you have horses running a stakes race at ellis park today and tomorrow d ever just stop and look back and say oh my goodness how did i ever get here. They do all the time It's it's daunting to look back. And wonder how how did i. Actually i think if i was told i had to go through it again. I don't know but i would. I would even try but But no no. I don't mean that it. It's been great You know it's nice to have a horse lake despite today you know That's where we all we're all the game for is to have Or some like him. You know top. Top top course and You know hopefully. I don't know if there will be any Many as as nice as them but You know you're always striving for the next one. I guess you know it's funny. You catch a five horsfield in the whitney and you go okay cool. We're all going to have to beat four other horses and then you look at the past performances. And you see knicks. Go in there. You see the champion three-year-old filly Swiss skydiver in there. You see silver state in there for hall of famer. Steve asmussen the all time leading trainer in the history of thoroughbred racing. And you have to go. Oh my goodness what do i have to do to catch a break right. Yeah no exactly. I mean it's a tough race but you know the weight me it saratoga You know no no grade one. Absolutely no great. What is easy You know and it'll be it'll be a great test for For max today you know. And i think he's off to you know he. He's ready for this now. Not gonna turn around after sale. Maybe wasn't ready for it. You know finally got some seasoning into the horse and you know he's been doing grazed Which i think he showed his last couple of rooms and you know. I don't think we'll of any excuses from that point of view If things don't work out today. I think he's ready to to do this. And to take on these type horses and hopefully proves that he is good enough to To run with the very best of them. What are some of the things brandon that you've been looking for in max 'field sense that win in the stephen foster that that tell you that he's ready to fire a big shot here today You know he he just. He doesn't as very level or temperamentally. Might you know. He came out of this race school since he does. And you know he's he's been he's done grade since he's he's done really well at saratoga which i think horses. Ken do for some reason when they come up here. I don't know if it's the cooler weather the war or what but horses just seemed to do. Certain horses seem to do often when they're You know i was talking about assistant. Yesterday we were talking about. How much easing okay. I mean it's scary the amount of food that this horse consumes You know like stuff like that and then his works been very good. He's he's done great physically. He's moving grazes. his works have been spot on. You know we've gotten to do exactly what we learned to do. And i think when you're able to do that then you know you you show up on the day and you know you've given it your best shot and you know after night. It's up to him. And and up to jose there doesn't appear to be much other speed to keep nikko company on the front end and we know how dangerous he can be when he's loose on the lead he loves this this particular distance. He's two for two at the distance. Do you do anything different or have a different conversation with jose ortiz knowing that okay. We can't let this horse get too far out in front or do you just stick to your game plan and say. Hey we're we're gonna take our shot that we can run them down late. I mean i don't. I don't think that we need to change. You know like like mexico. He doesn't need to change his plan. I don't agree with the change hours You know he. He probably is the lone speed there. But i don't think that kenny mcpeek. He's going to be a million miles away from them. I don't think that steve has some sources gonna be too far away from them so you know he probably will be under lead but if you know if he tries to slow it down there that i think they're going to. They're going to be there where they can jump on. You know I don't think he's going to get an easy lead per se You know my arms probably isn't going to be a million miles away from a meter. Yeah good stuff. Talking to brandon walsh here on the horse racing radio network brennan you also send out temple city terror in the grey to glens falls. Tell me a little bit more about temple city terror. Well she's just great great feeling to have my she. She's you know just a hard trying really hard knocking philly..

Remind myself <Speech_Male> that there's memories be made <Speech_Male> now <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> but no saratoga <Speech_Male> can't wait. <Speech_Male> I mean <Speech_Male> i'm thinking like we just <Speech_Male> bounce around saratoga <Speech_Male> delmar <Speech_Male> sir. Toga del mar. <Silence> We'd just kind of keep that <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> know we're stationed <Speech_Male> right in the middle of the country <Speech_Male> so we can hit those up beasley <Speech_Male> sort of <Speech_Male> easily. Never <Speech_Male> easy to get to <Speech_Male> del mar. But yeah <Speech_Male> so easy as <Speech_Male> air toga. Frankly <Speech_Male> for that. They're <Speech_Male> both bitches <Speech_Male> to get to for. Anyone <Speech_Male> anywhere is <Speech_Male> a bitch to get to <Speech_Male> for us. "Upside a lot of promises for the source looked really good has looked really good since returning off a very long layoff. It's we didn't see this horse. Since august came back inland ran. Well came back. A pinnacle ran well again. I is obviously going in the right direction. Is she good enough to win here. I don't know about that. But i think she i mean she's interesting and then the four horse advertisement mcpeek hate the price. If she was a better price. I might pick her because she is very good at churchill downs. He likes us distance. She's dangerous if you're sucking down to two one on her is just. I can't do it. That's the problem. I think she obviously is like okay. I can. I can try to beat the triska. You look at this this horse okay. Three back they face each other and she was beating tuna a quarter to back. She lost is she. There's talking about any time. And then she never went up and face. The truth wasn't even close up of belmont. Now every talk did win a you know a small stakes churchill last time out really really impressively but every time she steps up to face the top one or two three horses in this crop. The she's in she gets be and it's not a knock on the four. I like her as a horse I watched that live in a person win. The ruling to park oaks. My dad and i were both like. That's that was really nice. She looked great that day. Look great in the paddock. All that stuff. But i don't think she's as good as truth and i think that's what it comes down to. I'm with you. I think spices nice. I think aches and one is a really really bad morning line. I think it's going to be more like three or four to one on them worse. Unfortunately but i think that's the one where it's like. We don't know how good she could be and she might you know she's got that next step in her. She could maybe challenge but again she her problem is somebody's going to need to do the dirty work. She's not naturally fast enough to go with the six early. And i don't think she's going to be good enough to catcher. I if the six gets the right trip so yeah all signs for latrice for me. It's another boring pick. But i just can't ignore best horse in the race and also course.

"I just allies feel about it but i did put him in second because of the pace advantage Past that it's like really anybody can finish second. Like if you took max out of this race it's a real good allowance slash grade three event. Right that's what it is in the favorite probably four to one. Here's the thing. There's a lot of pressure not not literal pressure on him because he doesn't give a shit. But a lot of pressure maximal because one of these horses if he doesn't win is going to get a free trip to the breeders cup classic and they don't need to be in the breeders cup classic. So max does maximal should. He's he's good enough. He's probably one of the top you know. He's definitely top three horses in training right now. He's got to win this race. And so to me you either singling max the movie non and forgetting about it or you're playing against them and you basically have to play all of them because it's just really if he doesn't win who is it to me. I like the pace of asia. For warriors charge. I don't have any trust in him whatsoever. I have a sneaky feeling about silver. Does he just like. He's capable of running really big races. He's also capable of running very poor races but he is cammy. He likes churchill downs. He runs their a lot. He can wear this distance like he should be key if he won the race. I wouldn't assume max 'field doesn't show up. I wouldn't be shocked. I guess is my point. So i'm playing field as a single. Because he frankly. I mean what's crazy about this horse he's little. It's a weird. He's a weird hours seven starts. He's never ran at this distance ever. He's ran a mouse extinct. He's trying a mile on debut. You're in a mouse sixteenth. Every other time and then of course he ran in amount of quarterly loss in the big cap. Finish third course. Not it wasn't it wasn't like a terrible effort it just didn't win but he's never random out as i looking at dal sheba. Which by the way was at churchill downs. He's never lost a churchill downs. He's he's been very very good. He won the for charity. Hurry sorry he won his maiden he won the matt win. And of course he won last time out now sheba. He's looked pretty damn good at churchill downs. I think he's gonna be tough to beat. i think he's gonna be almost impossible to be. Where i i agree and like i said i i honestly cases like let's see if we can try to beat this source and it's like silver dust one you land on right and then you go through his rails. Okay like he he kinda burst onto the scene as far as being like we kinda take him serious. Last year at the fairgrounds he won a couple of races in a row. You start to look like like who did he. Well he got it twice okay. That's at the time we're like a decent. But now we know he's he's really awful and then he got beat by my standards. Captivating moon he got by owen dale and ever fast he got beat tommy atop by my standards again. He gets by my standards. And i mean you're seeing a pattern like would you be excited to play owen. Nail against maj. Well you said that you said this is a this is a good allowance slash great three and. That's the kind of silver dust is. He's a good allowance slash great three horse because you look at his past. That's kinda raises. He wins and if you remember the race that he did win last time out and give them credit for a win. Win is a win. I don't care what what you're in. We talked about that. Ben ali at keeneland. That was arkansas derby day and it poured on at keelan that day and it was one of the worst. Ben ali's history of the race like it was so bad. They all finished in a blanket. There is only four of them and they all finished right there together and he was just kind of the lucky one to get up in win. So it's it's not even like yeah. Okay he's coming off a win but it wasn't like a. Wow that gives you a lot of confidence for the raised next out. So yeah honestly. If max bill loses this race just out on the beach or the farm somewhere and let him live his life like he doesn't need to be running anymore. That's how i feel about as in the words of our good friend. Paul is texting him about we. Were talking about this race. He said if he doesn't win this race in its onto stud duty. Because i don't know how he doesn't win this race. And i agree. You know by the way you gotta love. The fact like jose ortiz man. Like he needs to be on the source permanently. After this. Jose and max filled to the perfect I i just love the way. He ran road on road him last time out. There's no pressure to get to the lead or anywhere near it. He did his thing he ran. He's going to be really tough here. So max failed to me. Let's talk real quickly. Because i think that's pretty easy to come up with How how much like api if he does what you think he's gonna do considering the fact. That field is not very good but he like you consider it's legit contender in your mind to win the classic in in the fall my horse that we don't know they can even be healthy at that time because he's historic record but if he is is he there no not for me not yet now he goes out and well no. I'm not going to say that 'cause he should dominate this group. I need to see him. Like go to the whitney win. Before i'm really like over the moon excited about his chances You know to go when a raise like the classic I i look at maximum. I think you're really good. You might be a step below like what it takes to win the classic like. Can you finish third or fourth in it share alike. You gotta be really good ninety nine times out of one hundred to win a race like classic. Sometimes you can get lucky and get a sneak in their field. That's week but i knew he was really really good. I don't be great in that. That's what i think he's going to have to end up in question here south. Bend the horse that obviously one. That got fem. Sorry finished second in the ohio derby last year Horse that kind of was on the you know triple crown trail so to speak for a bit As a three year old. What do you make of this horses. This horse have any chance likes churchill. Downs i mean obviously with bill motte decent trainer twelve to one though getting the price. So any thoughts and south bend. I think if you're wanting to put the worse in second or third It's not the worst because you wanna try to get a prize. You know underneath max for sure and you do kinda know the south bend is gonna just kinda sit back make iran. Maybe the other horses get a little tired. If they try to chase. And ron with mash with max field where south can just kinda let everybody go and then make his late and try to get past sources but you know as far as like winning the race or getting close to winning it i i just don't see it. What do you think about playing like a eight over like you know. I guess either opinion if you want to display a cold or play like an eight over six seven or eight over five six straight and just hammer the shit out of it because it does feel like you're going to have to hammer in order to make any money but it does definitely pretty logical exacto. Exactly what you should do. You should play..

"He can help you out a deal. You know so it was pretty fun. It's pretty it is a pretty amazing though. Go back to four mark. I totally agree the best goldeneye. I can't even tell you. How many like four split screen. You say that you like someone you know you. Buddy has at a big screen. At that time. It was like the big massive flat screens or the big screens. You get like oh. Let's go play it on then you your your spot. Kill each other. That and mario kart the battle of mario kart. That was something that i remember doing a lot. But yeah that it's been it's been it's been the venture over here but no hope we're hoping fingers crossed a week from tomorrow closing so we'll see How that goes so. You'll know at this time every single we every week. It's a new one. So i get a new closing date. So oh yeah. I know odd job by the way. Hol- piss everyone off because you couldn't shoot them us too low. The natural like aim was go over his head. I exactly what exactly my favorite was an eyeing on mark. You're going to have to help me with this. It was when he did the battle. And you did the oh. The the level with a bunch of different the project not A bunch of doors could hear like shut opening and closing all the time and people go in and out and then we would do like the. We'd always do the mines. They proximity mines which was always fun. Because you get pissed because you can't see them that silver Like covering so you could never see them so anyways. Everybody's listening to this year the love and this conversation. You're hating it so we'll get. We'll get into some horse racing here in the second mark. I'm seriously waiting for you to give me that answer. I let's let's get to today's show. And i'll poverty if he gives us an answer on today's show. We're gonna preview the six hundred k. stephen foster stakes at churchill downs. They were going to read i of some of the remaining stakes actions we weekend build on park churchill. Downs and this'll churchill downs on saturday race. Eleven the stephen foster stakes grade two or six hundred k for four year olds and up going one way. Eighth miles is a breeders cup event. Here's putting your in challenge race win and you're in the breeders cup classic in the horse looking to do that right here. Four to five morning line favorite number eight. Max filled very heavy fair. We have to have favorites. The ford elise. We'll talk about here a little bit in rapid fire to breeders cup challenge races too heavy favorites at four to five. Max filled really should win this race. I mean if you lose this race here your top. Contender is six three six. Two one is a silver does warriors charge and visit of course maximum wiped. You know just killed that. Whereas last time so max ville to me is i mean horses. Lost wants has got to win here right. Yeah i certainly just don't see how he's going to be unless he just doesn't show up in. It's not a situation. I still am not like completely sold. Max feel like a- primetime readers kept classic contender. But how does he lose to the sources. If he does how do you go forward him thinking. He's any kind of like elite prospect. At all like to me. I looked at. This is like okay. I think the biggest chance of him losing his either like us to jess not great pretty inconsistent horse or what if like warriors charge goes gate to wire on him because he does look like they have a pace advantage. But we're charges been freddie shitty for a while now right if we're being honest love him but he hadn't been good. I mean he certainly shouldn't be max will. This looks like locked to me. Like i think max built wins this thing easily. It's hard to really come up with like other than like you're saying the fact that he just doesn't just plain and simple fire. Max filled this hard to come up with scenario that he doesn't doesn't win here. I mean really the way the ray sets up i mean he should be able to. You know i guess the one thing if you want if you wish they had any kind of confidence and worse charge because he looks like he's gonna be the load speed. Of course. I'll ask you about that. Of course you needed him to to advance didn't get. Nhc see you need him to win and he missed the break and never ran step and so you know it's hard to kind of get have confidence that he's gonna do that. I'm sure for you. You're done your way done with them. but he you know from a pay standpoint if he breaks he should have an easy lead to himself right. Yeah there's no doubt about that. And and really. He's never had any trouble breaking other than the day that he's loan. Loan leader in a mile at lone star park in a grade three race and if he wins i make like five thousand dollars and get a seat on the day and didn't break very well so and not better now though. Yeah so horse. Named mo- mosa one. So i think he could have held off mo- mosa if you had decent trip there but he's got a hold of max field here so listen honestly. I do think the voice will get in front. I do think the hersal turned for home ahead. I just don't think he's good enough to hold off maximum even if he would have won the sex and mile less time out i would have that same feeling was not really hard feelings for me. It's just. I've got a pretty good gauge. On the talent warriors charge in. It's not good enough to be..

"So let's start with this band in New Orleans. It's called Chaba. First of all, Can you explain where that name comes from? Yeah, Cha wa means something like here we come in the dialect of the Mardi Gras Indians. This is an old New Orleans tradition. You know. In the early days, African Americans weren't allowed to march in the Mardi Gras parades. And so they got the idea to Dressed up in these incredible elaborate American Indian costumes and take fictional names like the Wild Chopper, Tulloch's and Wild Magnolias, and they've developed their own dialect and Chihuahua is part of that. It's also basically a funk band that incorporates this Mardi Gras Indian heritage, and their new song called My People, is Part of a great old tradition of hard partying songs that have a serious idea behind them. That's old man. People always still here. Wait. That's my people from the New Orleans band Cha wa the title track from a forthcoming album, due in April. Next This week, John we hear a collaboration between Grammy winning trumpeter and composer Michael Lenhart and the rapper Jay Swiss. What's their song? Blackout about? It's basically about demanding recognition for the contributions of black Americans to our culture. S O. J. Swiss mentions figures from politics, music technology literature, you name it. But it's also about not just doing that in February for Black History month that this is something that should have been going on all along. Or, as J. Swiss puts it in the song. We should have had it from the jump. Backdoor. I'm trying to get it from the fun. Respect for my people. We should have had it from the jump love in the culture. We always give you what you want on the history. Were you waiting for months? No back door trying to get in front of fun respect from my people. We should have had it from the jump off in the culture. We always give you what you want on the history waiting waiting for months. Need arrangement by trumpeter composer Michael Lenhart with the rapper Jay Swiss. The song is Blackout and Sean the verses of full of references to important black Americans and their contributions. So it is Definitely a song. You can spend some time with. Yeah. Finally, this week, a song from 18 48. I have to say I didn't know that it was this old has now been remade for the current moment. Tell us about this remarkable new version of Oh, Susanna. Yeah, well, the version of Oh, Susanna that we know possibly the first true American popular song and certainly one of the most famous The version we know is kind of a sanitized version of what Stephen Foster originally wrote in 18 48 that first version had some shockingly racist lyrics. So now the singer and composer Morris Miley has teamed up with Dawn Pemberton, Canada's Queen of soul to reconstruct the song on I'll quote her here. To celebrate black love and life, So they really created a whole new song, turning it into a sad tale of two black people who are in love but are not able to be with each other. But we k San him mouth and the team wasn't around, right? Coming home from the sound soothe. Don't you cry? That's more a smiley and Dawn Pemberton. Turning. Oh, Susanna into a statement that Black loves matter. We are actually premiering the song and it's moving video today. New sounds dot or G'kar..
