"Yeah. I'm just freaked out. No sir. No, absolutely not. When I was 8 years old, I don't know anybody. Prosecutors charged Baldwin with multiple counts of reckless driving in criminal damage to government property. A judge issued Baldwin a $40,000 bond in a court hearing last week. He's due in court next month. Nearly 200 dogs were rescued from a dangerous and filthy hoarding home in western Illinois, almost all the dogs are border collies and officials say they were left in fecal matter and many of the dogs were very skinny from malnutrition. Rescue crews spent three days getting the dogs out, 59 year old Karen plambeck was arrested on three counts of aggravated animal cruelty. Court document shows she was previously charged with animal cruelty in 2019, neighbor Stephen foster says the dog situation has been a problem for several years, but they didn't know how bad it really was. When I heard there was 200, I mean, I fell out of my ranger. I'm like, I knew there was a lot of dogs, but I didn't know there was that many. Mercer county animal control officers are trying to find homes for the dogs and are accepting donations to care for them. The pritzkers once again engaged in a bidding war at the Illinois state fair sale of champions. The grand champion steer went to First Lady MK pritzker, who, like in years past, got into a bidding war with the governor, the winning bid was $105,000, tying last year's record bid. "So. I mean, I almost think like, you know, his season and he'd be headed to stud that have some convenient reason to retire. I mean, he's earned 3.5 million and it's a bunch of grade one wins and I don't think they're cutting him back to 6 for a while. I don't see what that would do for him. They're getting to run poorly in that race at 6 furlongs. When the whole goal all along has been to run him in the classic. I mean, when he won that breeders cup dirt mile, Steve, I mean, they were full steam ahead of the classic and yeah, the Dubai World Cup definitely took some wind out of their sales. But, you know, if he runs, if he runs second, a decent second to olympiad. I don't think they'll definitely give up the ghost just yet on two turn races. Interesting notes I like Steve's opinion there. I'll tell you what, and bob and the standard just mentioned it in the race day show earlier. If you like anyone other than life is good the Saturday. If you like olympiad, you're going to get a better price on them than you've seen in a long, long time. Now, he was three to two last time out when he won the Stephen foster. I don't think he'll be as low as three to two. He's two to one on the morning line. I think there's just going to be way too much life is good money in the race. And, you know, American Revolution in hot rod Charlie always take money in their races. So if you're an olympiad fan, you're probably going to get a better win price on him this Saturday in the Whitney than you've seen in a long, long time should be a really exciting running of the Whitney. "We saw a lot of great performances this past weekend from around North America of course, getting to see life is good and the nehru charge it winning so impressively in the dwyer CC with a triumphant defending of her crown in the princess Rooney down at Gulfstream park olympiad, of course, winning the Stephen foster, but maybe the best race of the weekend was one of four graded stakes on the card this past Saturday at woodbine the great Nassau. You heard it their heads bobbing on the line lady spite spare crystal cliffs, our flash drive in the end. It was too tight to call, and it was too tight to call. A dead heat for the win between lady spike spear and crystal cliffs. It looked like lady spike spear was in deep trouble in the race. She made the lead was headed by our flash drive at every reason to stop running at this point, crystal cliffs coming on, but you heard it in the call, ladies fight smear digging in, fighting back, not over for her, and she ends up coming back to dead heat for the win with crystal cliffs. Lady spite spear, who was the 5 to two favorite in the race, crystal cliffs was the third choice in the wagering at three to one there were four of them between 5 to two and 7 to two in the wagering and they ended up running one, two, three, four in the race lady spike spear and crystal cliffs. Come back and win the bachelor manner by 12 and a half. So some good steaks, life is good, one real impressively as well as charge it at Belmont. And then we got a number of us stakes at a bunch of tracks that's coming week. This Saturday. Hey, just want to comment on your question. You asked at the end of the last hour, and it led me into something I was going to mention anyway, so I'll tie it into one. You mentioned about whether you'd see flight line and life is good running a mile or a mile and a quarter. I obviously think I like most of the betters would like to see them at a shorter distance of a mile, a mile in 70, something like that. Which leads me into my thought. You've got some meats during closing up Belmont and chart show San Anita closed up the major racetracks of closed up. Why doesn't one of these smaller mid sized do something put up the money you get sponsors do whatever and maybe instead of having a traditional stake every year like the Stephen foster and all that. Sometimes go into the schedule, mar April, may. And say, hey, look, we're going to take we're going to put it up and we're going to do our best to bring it in this year. You know, run into my own 70. Am I going to say bring horses? That would attract and be what the people want to see. And yet still have these two horses be able to take the rest of the year, run a prep at 9 furlongs or ten for a long to prep for that race in the fall. I find this as well Saratoga starting and other meats are starting. This is kind of almost a dead period. And you would think that a track would be able to put something together.

It was outside overlooking Saratoga Lake and a beautiful farm. It was a nice day. Yeah, well, congratulations to Ryan then. That's great. Good kid too. Fantastic. Yes, he is. Good family. All right, question number four. Today's grade two Stephen foster at Churchill downs is one of 8 win in your in races for the breeders cup classic division. The others are the February stakes in Japan, which was already won by cafe farrow earlier this year. The Haskell, the Whitney, the Judd man international in the UK, the Pacific classic the jockey club gold cup and the awesome again stakes. Which of those 8 prep races do you guys view as being the most critical if you want to win the breeders cup classic? Timmy? Well, since I did my homework is Dale well knows that I did on this now the breeders cup win in your end started in 2007. And since then, horses that have prepped for their prep, heading to the breeders cup, 5 of them were in the Whitney. 5 of them won the 5 of them were ran in the Whitney. Four of them ran into the jockey club gold cup. Then you go to the Haskell and a couple awesome again too. Stephen foster had one. But there's some other horses that had a different path altogether. You look at arrogate. I mean, his preparations last race before the classic was the Travers. The same thing for American pharaoh. I mean, I think that I think the win in wins win in your ends are an important piece to get to the class. I don't know if it's the all the main reason to get to run in a race like that just to get to the classic. Horsemen know the schedules for their horses and I think they're going to end Dale can tell more about this. They're going to send the horse where they think the horse is fits and is ready to run. But as far as the best race of this group to get to, the breeders cup, I'm going to go with the Whitney. Nick's goal is another. He won last year, won the Whitney last year. Kentucky won the Lucas classic and on the way to the breeders cup. But I think the Whitney is a key race for horses that are heading to the breeders cup because it fits so well on the schedule, you know, early August, and then a lot of them will race one more time. Some might just train up to the race. Yeah, I want to agree with you on the Whitney. I love the way anyway. I think it's just a special race. It's one of the premier races in the country. But it's a good prep for a couple of reasons. Because it does, it gives you options. If you win it, you can sit back and wait and just run in the classic if you got a type of horse. We got a horse think needs more work. You can get one more race between the two. So we're going to need to meet the best prep race, but that's one of my favorite old horse races in the country anyway. Dale, did it seem, I mean, from a trainer's standpoint, is it advantageous, let's say you're running the Whitney, and then you train up to the breeders cup. Would you rather do something like that? Or would you rather race in another race before the breeders cup? Well, it depends a lot on your horse. I mean, I personally, if everything was perfect, probably want to run one more time, but can you take a horse like America federal member? He got beat with Trevor's. I don't know if you remember that. But I do agree. Who beat him? Okay, horse keen ice beating. Yeah. Yo, I remember that horse. Did someone deserve this year? Who trained to be nice? That happened to be me, but besides that, that's not why I brought it up, but if my point is, I think America Farrell was probably getting a little tired. He didn't run into preparations and then officers from The Crown races and the high school and he came over. I think it did him good to have the time between the two races. And he came back and ran gangbusters in the classic king. These 8 horses nowadays have to be pampered more than they used to be. Well, it sure seems like it. I mean, I don't know why, I don't know why that is. I don't know what's changed, but we're talking the other day for a horse. We had ten days between races and my father was training. That was a time offline was put on him. Right. Right. He would run over 7 days. And now you can't do anymore. And I don't know why. I don't know what it is about the horse or if you tried to. The media would tear you up. Is it because of the breathing do you think? I really don't know. I don't know what it is to you. I think we have two things a lot different than they used to. And I think that all plays into it. Everybody's getting so calculating and they're cheaper horses. It would be common to see one on the program would run 50 times. You don't see that anymore. When you consider it to be the bigger upset. Court vision beating gold at kova or keen ice beating American pharaoh. The most historic one. Yes. I think the question to beat a Triple Crown winner. I'll tell you about core vision winning that race. That wasn't a power packed mile. But to me it seemed like it was all horses that may have gone over the tipping point a little bit. And we're on the downside of their careers instead of up. And he was doing so well that day. It was just he just had a perfect day..

We see them every day, but have you ever paid attention to the stickers on many fruits and vegetables? These are known as PLU's or price lookup labels, and they're the same everywhere around the world. So if you buy a banana in Germany, the coat on it will be identical to the one you buy in Minnesota. These stickers also have a story to tell. If a fruit has been grown with pesticides, the four digit code starts with a three or four. If it's GMO, the code is 5 digits and starts with an 8, and if the produce is organic, there's a 5 digit code that starts with a 9. A lot of info for such a small item, right? And here's a tip for celebrating national sticker day. If you can't remove that sticker from your Apple, use a piece of tape to get it off more easily. I hate trying to get that thing off. There you go. There's your tip. One of the greatest songwriters in American history was born on July 4th, 1826, which seems only fitting. "That got something percolating. Okay that's good. We've got We're gonna go to the lines right now. Tom and saint louis tom. Do you have a good memory for us. Yes i do. Bobby yes i do. I in fact. I'm going to give you a couple of You know the first thing. I i i wanna say is a memory as a child growing up at a little a little track where i went is they had a distance series and it started out at nine for long and every saturday night they would add an eighth of a mile. And i'm gonna tell a quick story. And if i'm too long guys telling me to wrap it up but you every week they would do this throughout the entire meet. Every saturday night it would be a raise. The trainers would get point but it was interesting that you see horses and with the exception of the marathon. You don't see horses on a regular basis riding on my three quarters two miles two and a half miles and i'm gonna talk about my father. My father was the head and the whole standings and everything like that. And it's a hall of famer. Dave gall store but long story short. My father at worst rent is rent. Two and a half miles. Put two horses in the race out of five soggy night dot it was. Foggy was in san francisco except we didn't have a good football team down just the big red at the time. Not the forty niners and literally when they run through. It was one of these nights. You couldn't be three feet in front of you. They decided to have the races. This is gonna be the last race. Was the six on the card. They weren't going to have the rest of it. They but they said the series. We're going to have the fathers horses. go out. you know and come by the stands the first time on a mile track and the second time and the third time. They came down the stretch. This horse the dave golf came out of nowhere and nip. My dad's source you'd on every step of the race. I the wire years later. Dave told my dad. You know what. I ducked down the three quarters shoot. After the first time we came around. I only read only random by one and a half but seeing these kind of things made the fans come out. You kinda got to know the horses. You got to know this whether it be a distance series or whether it be you know kind of these things where they raised every other week or whatever. They didn't have all we get in the van and go somewhere else. We don't we don't go to ellis to run the two mile race. We don't go to this. We don't go to that Literally you had that kind of thing. Another memory. That i had as a child growing up was always you. My dad took me to oak on every year for the arkansas derby and they wouldn't here had had a race. The arkansas derby was always the last race of the car. The last race of the me they had some race. Afterwards i remember. I think it was a contest that two guys that started off in a in a thing but they had to go out and do it. The half-mile pole jog or run in a foot ray. Half-mile of the people stood around and watch this race. And they kinda publicized that and while there was no para mutual betting. You could find a couple of a while. I'm going to bet on that guy in the red shirt and they bet because these guys were locally known. I don't wanna run track and field of where it was that but those are two memories you know. The other one is that i had grown up was on thanksgiving morning. You know going to the race track and you know you were done. By two o'clock they had eleven am post. It was an abbreviated car. But you were done by two. You can still go home and you know. Have a thanksgiving dinner at four o'clock or whatever mom stay home and cook while we all went to the track and when we were in college we really thought that was cool. You stay out late the wednesday before you get with your buddies and go to the track and you know maybe a little food to soak up the hangover have one beer before you went and spent time with the family things like that you get lost in this whole age of let better on our phone or let's have that you don't you lose that touch. I even remember churchill in the late nineties. Early two thousand opening day. You did a t shirt or they always had. Kind of a giveaway. You know to kind of make people come out and they had even the little handicapping seminar in the morning and on stephen foster day. The i'm not an autograph person but my former boss was and i drug him to the track for the first time so he could get the connections of the derby win. Smarty jones wanted he could get calvin autograph and the owners autograph and you went through the little table. And he looks at bought fifteen programs to go through the line fifteen times and get them you know. Get the get the items. Get the item sign and things like that. It just seemed there was a lot more personal touches on too long now. Tom i really appreciate it and thanks very much for your call. Those are all phenomenal memories. But we're up against the break ed. He specifically mentioned like the thanksgiving day in the early posts. You know this is something that a lot of tracks used to do. Hollywood park used to run like eleven or eleven thirty on that day and people could still get home and watch football and have thanksgiving dinner. Calder used to actually run on christmas day. They'd have the christmas day handicap. But you know when. I kind of went the way of the dodo with anyone running on christmas day. Now.

You know it was great. We are thrilled You know he's a he was a good horse like you said he was our first grade stake when he went on to do some great things and Kept us into game at a time when we were We were struggling a little bit too. So he'll always be He was a place in our hearts you know. Did you find brandon that. After that victory year phone started ringing. You started to get people talking. More about brendon walsh and sending you a few more horses here and there did you find that it was almost an immediate increase in attention after that when he went on thankfully might even done that fall and he wondered. Well was the old breeders cup marathon as well. So yeah i mean it definitely would Was it goes. You know he definitely did did more for us than probably any horses done. You know he put us on the map. Finacially kinda got the whole thing. Go and but Yeah i mean that's that's the best form of advertising right is when you can win these He's type races. And now you're sitting here with a horse. That's among the favorites in the grade. One whitney you have a horse in the gray to glens falls stakes at saratoga. Today you have horses running a stakes race at ellis park today and tomorrow d ever just stop and look back and say oh my goodness how did i ever get here. They do all the time It's it's daunting to look back. And wonder how how did i. Actually i think if i was told i had to go through it again. I don't know but i would. I would even try but But no no. I don't mean that it. It's been great You know it's nice to have a horse lake despite today you know That's where we all we're all the game for is to have Or some like him. You know top. Top top course and You know hopefully. I don't know if there will be any Many as as nice as them but You know you're always striving for the next one. I guess you know it's funny. You catch a five horsfield in the whitney and you go okay cool. We're all going to have to beat four other horses and then you look at the past performances. And you see knicks. Go in there. You see the champion three-year-old filly Swiss skydiver in there. You see silver state in there for hall of famer. Steve asmussen the all time leading trainer in the history of thoroughbred racing. And you have to go. Oh my goodness what do i have to do to catch a break right. Yeah no exactly. I mean it's a tough race but you know the weight me it saratoga You know no no grade one. Absolutely no great. What is easy You know and it'll be it'll be a great test for For max today you know. And i think he's off to you know he. He's ready for this now. Not gonna turn around after sale. Maybe wasn't ready for it. You know finally got some seasoning into the horse and you know he's been doing grazed Which i think he showed his last couple of rooms and you know. I don't think we'll of any excuses from that point of view If things don't work out today. I think he's ready to to do this. And to take on these type horses and hopefully proves that he is good enough to To run with the very best of them. What are some of the things brandon that you've been looking for in max 'field sense that win in the stephen foster that that tell you that he's ready to fire a big shot here today You know he he just. He doesn't as very level or temperamentally. Might you know. He came out of this race school since he does. And you know he's he's been he's done grade since he's he's done really well at saratoga which i think horses. Ken do for some reason when they come up here. I don't know if it's the cooler weather the war or what but horses just seemed to do. Certain horses seem to do often when they're You know i was talking about assistant. They have a really nice card of graded stakes and some some pretty good Listed races But the downside of that is a couple of graded. Stakes are very top heavy in the first race. That we're gonna discuss is certainly that. That's the floor. This is probably the best of the two dirt stakes this weekend. Definitely better than the stephen foster and you know. This is filled with a couple affiliates. That are still trying to find themselves and also is headlined by the one big star of the distaff distaff division. I'm gonna let eric talk about this field. Because i also have a preview. On youtube i go pretty extensively into this but my pick is going to be a while. I do think that there there are horses in here. That have upside. I'm not going to try to beat lotrowska in this race. I totally agree with that. That oxide i. It's going to take a ton of money and you're obviously not be favored overlooks rooster. But there's no denying that churchill form her win last time out in the shawnee was one of her best career performance and her best career races last two career. Winds have come over this track in in you know. She looks like a world leader. In my opinion in both of those efforts in n was only being on length but she knows the devil who is still very talented so loud there and then of course you have some old faces. Like point of honor from the rail for new connections spices. Nice coming off that first career on graded stakes win and then antoinette. Getting back on the dirt after we saw her on it a couple times a year picked up some good placings internet's interesting from a set standpoint. We know she likes to go to the lead but she's never been one to go out and said you know lincoln quick fractions and we know lotrowska is the type of course he likes to be done blazing on the front. I don't think it's going to take out though she's my pick and he or she is. She's done everything. Right is the easiest field. She spaced the houston ladies. Classic and i. I don't i don't think coast. He's doing after work for it but She she's she's giving you all indication she's using peak form. I love that the connection to turn around so quick and have that confidence in her. So i think it's a pretty pretty easy pick for me but at the same time. I think the you know with the talent that we've seen from some of these. These female racehorse in the past. They could they could shoot me. Jump up and thrown a surprise. And now we're going to move onto the next race that we're gonna get into we're going to skip the two two year old stakes. There are a pair of interesting two year old races. So if you like a baby races at this part of the year than that is another attraction to this car but You know we're not too focused on two year olds outside of maiden watch at this time of year. So we're going to move onto the war chance stakes that which is a mile race for three year olds in this race is just flat out all over the place you know. You can make a case about every single horse in this race. And i wouldn't say that that's necessarily a positive thing because you know. A lot of these sources are relatively inconsistent relatively all over the place The the headline harrison. You know really calling him. The headline horse doesn't feel right but the horse that probably most people are going to recognize is helium. The one of the starters from the kentucky derby won the tampa bay derby earlier in the year. The reason he's here most likely because he had a couple of runs at woodbine when he was a two year old. So you know the if he can run at woodbine on the synthetic he's probably going to be just fine running here on the turkeys by ironic a horse who ran in the breeders cup dirt mile. I believe in two thousand sixteen was a year and outside of that. You know there. There's a few interesting horses a wesley. Wards here with with Next who i i would say is coming out of two races. Where he was definitely very overmatched. So he's getting a class drop. That's a good thing for him. But i usually like to try to look for consistency when i pick races and the consistency that i got here was a credit This horse is to for four in his lifetime but his two two of his winds have come when he's running on turf. His first start of the year was in march at as a thrilled. That was at turf way on the all weather. That didn't go too well for him. Back wanna maiden keeneland on the turf then ran in the dirt are ran on the journey. Should say chill on the ninth of may also didn't go too well for him Last out you want a turf race turf allowance. At churchill downs going a mile and a sixteenth he is cutting back slightly but I'm not really super concerned about the cutback for him again. I needed to find some kind of consistency and credit was the horse that had the most consistency in this race. Very tough spot credits. A great big. I thought he was producer. You don't know some of the non horses from the derby trail derby trail horses in here. You certainly got some good value. The value horses in here. And i have a preview this over on youtube very good good field. So i'm obviously going on all these horses Definitely worth a watch to to try and find some things. But i'm hearts of the pop.
