"O'clock easter all right Casper taken away all right. Progressives like representative katie porter are pushing back. Corporate clowns in the senate like senator joe manchin who claims that he thinks. We should put a pause on the three point. Five trillion dollar budget reconciliation bill which would include incredibly important provisions including childcare universal pre-k mandatory family leave and an expansion of the medicare program to include things like hearing and vision or vision and dental. I should say now with that. Said katie porter honestly said something during an interview on cable news. That needs to be said moore what is actually motivating or fueling the arguments. Coming from people. Like senator joe manchin. Well let's see what she has to say with. Regard to senator manchin others. Who want to talk about the price tag for this. Let me be clear. Your business person. You get it. You can do math if something costs a then. You have two options. You can negotiate down from a or you can find the money. We have revenue options on the table. There are huge number of corporations that pay zero taxes and by making savvy revenue choices for example using a will corporate profit approach to dealing with those corporations that pay zero we can generate seven hundred billion if we use the corporate minimum tax approach. We're going to generate forty billion right there right there senator mansion right there anyone who's worried about spending we can generate the revenue on. This isn't about three point five trillion. spending it's not even now three point five trillion end spending because we're going to generate the revenue pay for these days. I have the will to do it. The question is does senator mansion or is he more concerned about his corporate donors including large corporations the oil and gas industries the big pharmaceutical industry and others who are getting away with paying nothing under our current tax system. Listen that was a presi for jank uber. So shanks away your american hero katie porter. Okay so look guys. The dams broken this a full scale rebellion in my lifetime. I've been begging progressives. Will you please fight back against corporate democrats and when you do. Can you please point out there. Corporate donors in the entire country would-be hind. You if you did that. Because even republicans go on and like the donors The looks like corruption. It looks like you know. We legalized bribery. Because we did okay. And so. I wouldn't do it. They wouldn't do. They wouldn't do it. And then a new wave came in boccia. Democrats are forty wasn't in. She was in the same class. She's not technically in the squatter. Just democrats provoke cares. She's a world-beater and so as she always comes with facts he comes so well prepared and the other thing is she's so strong steady enrolls actually a bit of a corporate is to say the least. We're showing you other clips that overwhelmingly proves it represented. Puerto came in so strong there. That seventy we'll kind of admire it. So she was sitting there. Okay i mean you get ruled to bob. Her head right ongoing f for corporations and making sure they pay their fair share and et cetera. I mean that was great work by canine. Puerto any guys by the way when they finally did it. Go house fall into the k. k. The cave in the roof. No it's totally fine. I told you like it's okay. You're supposed to challenge. Yes your democratic colleagues. If they're the ones standing in the way of actually getting the bills passed otherwise. We're not gonna get anything done and then this all about ego and not actually helping exactly. There needs to be strong pressure campaign by democrats directed toward the corporate democrats in the senate who are hiring regarding the reconciliation. Bill now I do want to go to one additional portion of the interview that Representative porter had wit stephanie role and in this portion she specifically talking about the need for childcare. And it gives you a sense of just how important it is to pass the reconciliation bill because aside from childcare it includes so many provisions that would just fundamentally and materially improve the lives of americans and their families. Let's check this two separate pieces. The first piece is why should childcare be part of this. Bill is partially addressed. This let me just make a practical point to us that we had the man who have run this country for hundreds of years. The wealthy men herbs wives and others are taken care of childcare so convinced that it was important we would have done something about childcare. Ten twenty thirty forty fifty years ago when other countries debt. So i'm not today. All of a sudden convinced that we have the will to deal with childcare. Put off this issue decade after decade after decade. People tweet my colleagues tweet. A women's payday. Women are falling behind glass ceilings. Guess what childcare is the solution. It's a crisis improved economic productivity in this country. And it's one we have to solve as part of building back better. I.

Carrie fisher but nonetheless. I'm just saying i was shot. I want to do some research into this. 'cause there is something about getting older and being a narcissist and on both of those things where you just i i will be in a room of france and look around and think if someone forced me to to say all their names right now i couldn't i mean just stop hardier brain just gets switched. Hey buddy how you doing yeah ask. Your brother broke grow Speaking of there's so many new things we have to talk about really quickly and we have so much to do. Obviously there were similar wait. I'm sorry okay. Go ahead least favorite person in the world and my favorite person in the world of covid nineteen. Okay that's easy but at least favorite person in the world the empire doing not to get it and who is my favorite. I in the world also announced this personality who. I don't know. I'll come on stephanie. Raw stephanie role. Yes everybody has it because there. There are two people like each other. It's those yeah. But she's she's sort of in trump. A stan where she's staying so i can see how she got. There were a lot of people not wearing masks in her neighborhood. Shoes me like there was a lot of like covid. Denial around where she's locating herself anyways. But the good news is supposedly rudy. Giuliani was airlifted to walter. Reed and sons piano repair where we're hoping wish ill roti but he. He tried to get a woman to take off our mass during the hearing and he had a full blown copay. It was ridiculous. No we're wishing him a speedy and total landscaping. Yeah right right. that's good. That's by the way that's the genius. Exact bornstein and best call to twitter accounts that i constantly down a little bit. Did you read the two pieces on tony. Shay was enforced muslim in the wall street journal. I'm harris against. I've thought a lot about that. The facilitation of billionaires by sycophants is not a small thing. Like it just depends on who you are. I mean that's one of the reasons. I used to know a lot of them quite well. And i can't stand stanton around. They have so many sycophants around them. It's really kind of depressing and when you push back. They're confused and surprised that you do because they're so used to yes Tony such gentle soul. And so it's such a searcher you know for someone who is delivering happenings actually was seeking happiness because he had a sadness to him And that's why he you know he wasn't. I would when he did that book. I was like you happiest per cent. You seem rather trouble. You know what. I mean like in terms of looking for happiness. He was always sort of searching for the next thing. And so i think you know the combination of of covid and isolate it was. Somebody didn't isolation He had people around him all the time. Like no time. I think it must have been aware me. And then you know the drug use which already You know he drank quite a bit And and so. I think it all it. All added up and did not being able to reach him. His friends were not able to reach him was really critical in terms of bringing look like he was being his. He was with his family in new london. And so i think they were moving him to some sort of facility to get off of all this stuff and that's when this happened. I think it looks like they're making moves to remove him from park city where he was and he paid people to be there all thing not a surprise at all unfortunately but so sad that he couldn't make it out and get to get to some recovery place. He could have Healed himself job into. I've been thinking a lot about this. I know a lot of of men in that sort of cohort. And now there's people who are very wealthy. And to a certain extent suffer from a bit of a peter pan complex and that you recognize success at a very young age especially as a male you're able to outsource a lot of the more substantive meaningful parts of your life you can have. I'm not saying they're fake friends. You attract a lot of what feel like meaningful relationships. Men like drugs. they're fed. They're sycophants that you'd have to see them they will. I think it's probably continuum everyone around you is. That was the one quote. The jewel had which is if everyone around us getting paid his wrong. You know you have. Some people will anyways a jewel case in point he did has. He did have some very genuine real friends. You also i think men with early success can Go through an extended state of arrested adolescence around drugs sacks experiencing you know experiences and not feel the temptation or not feel the urge to at some point for a better term settled down and develop more substantive relationship specifically a family and i think you run the risk of waking up at a later stage in life and realizing you're kind of alone and it's very tempting when you and i'm not comparing myself to tony shay but i had a ten year period. After i moved from san francisco to new york where i was able to. I had some money. I was single. Living in new york and the world was sort of optimized for me to stay that way so i fell in love and had a son and and also.

"In a presidential debate and what Kamala Harris said today about trump supreme court pick. Down Trump's tax record will surely be a key part of tomorrow's first presidential debate with. Joe. Biden. Anticipated and most important debates in American political history. The New York Times supplying new details for suspicions about his business dealings suspicions that also haunted him in the two. Thousand Sixteen GOP primary debates. About it could you allows line anything about bankrupting. I don't know. I took one million dollars and I turned it in one million dollars. I borrowed one. We can say. And my next guest Carly Fiorina came to those same debates armed with her own successful business record which she turned on from. There are a lot of us Americans who believe that we are going to have trouble someday paying back the interest on our debt because. I have run out mountains of debt using other people's money. That is, in fact, precisely, the way read ran your casinos you ran up mountains of debt, as well as losses using other money, and you were forced to file for bankruptcy not once not twice four times a record four times. Why should we trust you? This nation. Joining me now is the aforementioned carly, Fiorina, former Republican, presidential candidate great to have you with us. So you are one of the few who's actually debated. Then candidate trump, how would you use these New York Times revelations against trump in a debate if you're the Biden Campaign I would use them, but I would use them carefully and I say that because while of course, the media is fascinated by this story as a my personally because it. Confirms my suspicions that he's never been business man. He's always been in entertainer and he's in a great deal of financial distress. It turns out but I say use them carefully because the vast majority of Americans may not be following this closely and what they really need to see from Joe Biden is how he is going to improve their lives whether it's with regard to Cova or their job or their healthcare or the fact that they're still home schooling their kids. because. They can't go back to school. So of course, he needs to deal with it. The fact that trump paid literally no taxes it would appear federal income taxes for ten years is certainly. Most. Americans would consider that unfair if nothing else but I think Joe, Biden needs to stay in control of this debate in what I mean by that is he has to decide what what are the points that he wants to get across about himself. He to look Presidential Act presidential behave presidentially and he can't get into too much of a month fight with Donald Trump consents with donald trump wants in fact, what do you think and you just pointed out the you're very fascinated interested in these reports just as the media is what do you think of how trump runs his businesses based on what you've learned from the New York Times reported? I was reminded today reading. This report is being asked in two thousand fifteen. If I had only one word to use to describe Donald. Trump what would it be and my answer was entertainer and the journalists said, oh. Don't you mean businessman I said no, he's a lousy business man I mean we knew enough then to know he was allows businessman. What we now know is that he is actually presided over a a lot of financial distress and that he is facing a lot of personal financial liability and so obviously that. Demonstrates that this is not a guy who understands how to manage things successfully we knew that was for bankruptcies in a row, but now we know. At a level of detail I think that's quite surprising. Actually, let me play for you how Joe Biden talked about his debate plans in an interview with my colleague Stephanie Role Watch this. Look people know the presence a liar I mean they know that it's not like it's GonNa come as a surprise. And so I'm prepared to go out and make my case as to why I think he's failed and why I think the answers I had to proceed will help the American people in the American economy and make us safer internationally. It is going to be difficult. I know the I mean my guess is it's going to be straight attack they're going to be mostly personal owning knows how to do. He doesn't know how to debate the facts, but he's not that smart. What are your thoughts about that assessment? You know obviously president trump is Joe Biden said there lies he's not going to stick to the facts. He'll make things up he may not be grounded in truth it may make the attacks personal. What is Joe Biden have to do? What is the moderator in this debate have to do you think Well I think Chris. Wallace has demonstrated in previous interviews with the president that he's willing to hold people accountable for the facts and I'm sure he will do that in a fair and balanced way. But I think Biden, is exactly right trump tries to control the airspace and he has succeeded in controlling the airspace as he did in the twenty sixteen primaries by being outrageous controversial insulting by hurling amazing statements that people fall over themselves trying to correct and Joe, Biden can't let him control the airspace and so part of Joe Biden this job I, think is to let trump be drop you know maybe there's a moment where he can have a reaganesque. There you go. Again because more people see. Donald Trump. The more he reinforces what they think of him and so. Don't try and Control Donald Trump but don't let donald trump control you either Joe Biden has to stay in charge of his own message. All right, very important advice different from Carly Fiorina thank.

"We'll see if he agrees as we shall see indeed up Steph all the question no one really wants to hear the answer to but you may help us with of all these jobs being lost. How many of them by percentage are really coming back Brian. It's too soon to tell someone that's really important to think about with regard to reopening. Yes it's business. Yes it's government but it's also consumers everyday Americans earlier. Today I sat down with the president of Walmart. Usa. So think about it. This is the biggest retailer that has been opened this entire time. But we're all trying to figure out how to do it and I asked him. What's the number one thing? All of those associates are saying. What is their top concern? And here's what's disturbing their job concern. Is that customers. Start Adhering to the social distancing rules and the new guidelines so that's their fear that people in certain regions in the country aren't wearing masks aren't respecting these guidelines and intern could make all of those workers get sick so it's very concerning when the president when the vice president aren't following these rules themselves aren't wearing the masks so yes everyone wants to go back to these jobs. We want things to get back to where they were. But unless we start all practicing these new guidelines it's going to hurt businesses going to hurt individuals. It's going to hurt all of us so it's not a matter of how many jobs are coming back. It's how are we gonNA conduct ourselves collectively if we do it together? We've got the best shot and right now think about it. You're seeing hyper partisanship in every element of this. And you shouldn't see that in the middle of a pandemic it's only gonNA worsened things economically. And all we really know is gonNA look worse at this time tomorrow night than it does during this conversation a sobering stuff all of it and he carney. Peter Baker Stephanie Role. "Happened. The last week and particularly at the rally yesterday is that we are seeing very clearly that. This is going to be donald trump's reelection strategy slash and burn you know let's make enemies of our fellow Americans let Stoke Fears Around Socialism and absolutely let's play to people's racism and so how do we respond. What are we going to do? We're all appalled. We're all disgusted but now we know that this is how he is going to treat his presidential campaign. I was listening to M._S._N._B._C. in the car yesterday and then I read an op Ed from Thomas Friedman in The New York Times this morning and both of them both Stephanie Role in Thomas Friedman where making versions of an argument it has been in the conversation for a while but I think with renewed urgency. which is this Democrats? Could you just please nominate a decent person who is mostly focused on creating good jobs and restoring America to someplace that doesn't make us all feel like we are on the brink of crisis and can we leave the race for big ideas and fundamentally reordering our economy to another day given the urgency of not having someone who speaks like this in the Oval Office anymore and someone who incites violence in the Oval Office anymore so I left a message for you you Sarah and <hes> for a lease are managing director about that. I'm just curious about your reactions. I thought it was fascinating. I really understand it. I also really understand some of the counter arguments and I'm struggling personally with navigating where to focus right now because I think political strategy is always relevant especially going into an election especially going into a high stakes election. I also feel so compelled especially in light of what happened at this rally to spend most of my energy thinking about what we just person to person voter to voter need to be doing amongst ourselves to talk about what's going on here and so I'm I'm interested in your thoughts on all of that. I was thinking about it a lot and I definitely understand the fear and anxiety when he he exposes this strategy and everybody's sort of Oh my gosh. How do we combat this? This is what we're going to be facing. We absolutely cannot let him win. With this racist racist approach to campaign politics I mean I think the first thing to think about very carefully and talk about amongst ourselves and face is that whether or not Donald Trump wins reelection and I desperately hope he does not damage has been done damage will continue to be done as he talks like this over the next year..

"But she is really the electoral later, she's willing to actually put stuff down on paper and do the work and take a stand. The what do you know who are the leaders who, who by far who's crushing it to, to old like is in their seventies, right, Biden and sandy, I think that's because there's a differentiator do you wanna win? Or do you want to take the high road? And I think that's I think that's the same thing with the impeachment. Do you want to win? Or do you want to really do? What's right. And so that's. Where we are a country because we're, I think at least the Democrats are so desperate to get rid of Trump that they are going to go with what, what works and you know, that's just where we are. That's an interesting point question for you think the Democrats should start impeachment hearings. Are you not? I don't think it. I think it's largely ceremonial because it doesn't go anywhere in the Senate. And I think I don't say beat him at the it's just doesn't it just creates havoc. And we have to just it just doesn't. I don't think people are people are they wanna talk about real topics, and there's they want things to move forward. And it only creates more acrimony and means no legislation and his stupid tantrum which he looks like a big giant, baby, which baby Huey that he is. But it doesn't it doesn't get us. We're gonna go, and I think people have less interest in that then then anything else. And so it's too confusing to it's very clear that, that, that that meal wanted congress to act because he couldn't because he couldn't. And so I it doesn't really matter. The people just don't want the Griff to get off. Well, we might have let the gripper off and win on the real on the things. And so the question is can we have an election free of interference by foreign bodies? We'll see about that. But we can talk about that next week, Scott. Thank you so much for Memorial Day. I'm going to the beach. I'm going to the beach with a lot of family a lot like way too much family way. Too much family. We'll say beachwear beach, Delaware. My friend has a house Rehoboth. "Coming up after the break I will replay. My interview ambassador Bolton from two hours ago. We began the morning with the national security adviser right now, I'm joined by Stephanie rule who I expect we'll be covering Venezuela throughout the day. Am I right Stephanie role while the meeting myself, it's morning? I mean, the most recent images. I mean now I mean yesterday when we were covering very have we had some reporters in the vicinity that this morning, we'll be talking to reporters on the ground there. I mean, it's obviously a food situation, but for people who haven't been focused on Venezuela. If you consider just the quality of life what the people there have been going through. And now what we may be seeing. It's it's amazing thirty three million people there forty five thousand Americans are there and ambassador Bolton pulled me more than a million European Union citizens the clashes between pro Madero and pro glide forces went through the night in Caracas. And Marco Rubio tweeted this morning, quite has no security force. No ability to control the media. He's facing threats to its freedom and safety yeti openly challenge criminal dictator on a daily basis. This one man has more courage than every high raking Madera regime. Official put together reaction Stephanie rule. When you read that tweet, truly chills because it's true that when you think when you think about the courage, he's putting forward ordinary fame time two desperate situation Venezuelans had been in. And it's gotten progressively worse. Over the last five years, it's amazing quite has taken a stuff like this. But I mean, I think they couldn't be more desperate situation. No, I only know cut Hayna I've never been anywhere else in Venezuela except Cartagena. I don't know if you do or not, but it's a very big sprawling country. It's not Panama where we did operation. Just cause in nineteen Ninety-one America can't swoop in with a hundred and first airborne. They would actually need Brazil and Colombian other regional allies to lead any effort here or do you disagree with that? I agree with you. And that could be one of the reasons, you know, yesterday when you saw my Pompeii when you saw pen. Can't remember about showing your support people saying buddies verbal support me what have we actually doing it? That's an easy question. Right. This is a complicated situation will indeed require coordinated effort and support the president tweeted out Cuban embargo that of course means nineteen sixty two styles. Showdowns and I am thinking nineteen Ninety-one the Panama. Do you think are the people around MSNBC time at how do we cover a war because that's actually what we may be on the cusp of here. I mean, how do we cover a war date at what point you consider that a call it a coup or not up to that point yet right now trying to gather as much information as to the Washington Post today said it's not a coup because this is the legitimate uprising the American people, I'm not sure how much I want to argue that semantics I do think one guy though is the legitimate leader of the country, given their constitution. "Stephanie role of MSNBC, she's my go-to person when it comes to market issues. Stephanie apple and Qualcomm settled all their disputes worldwide yesterday. This is not front page news for anyone who doesn't read the Wall Street Journal, but it's actually going to impact everyone. Are you surprised that these combatants of decades have laid down their weapons? No at the end of the day. I I'm looking for my words, Tim cook is a pragmatic guy. And especially now that you have Tim cook not Steve Jobs, oftentimes founders, you know, have a hard time letting go and at the end of the day it simply seem of business wise medically time to put your pencils down. And I think it will benefit everyone right at when when litigation goes away only the lawyers lose. One hundred percent. I often say, you know, the twenty sixteen election who really wanted lawyers. And if you if you talk about whether it's politics or business at this point activist investors of shareholder lawsuits, the amount of losses that are going on across business. He caps sort of now the second major business issue is net flicks reported after the Bill last night that they had added ten million subscribers eighty percent plus of them abroad, you're in the broadcast business. I'm in the broadcast business. This is always good for broadcast when they're new subscribers in new platform, but that's a stunning number for offshore growth for an American base. Content provider. How did you react to that? Stephanie rule stunning number, and especially if you are involved in network television, entertainment, and you think about what people appetite. What they have apple tight for the kind of things net. Flicks put out on our creative. They're new and the fact that there's this appetite part outside the United States remember for a public company. The number one thing you always have to be doing is growing and we've seen an enormous amount of Emina across the board. Sometimes it doesn't make sense. It's like people are buying their both. But man, what a home run Reed Hastings just left. Facebook's board. They maybe had a conflict of interest approaching. Maybe just got a lot of work to do as things is quoted as saying in the verge today that he is not worried about the Disney and apple presentations about their new services Netflixing, I guess too far ahead. Do you think he is looking over shoulder as they really got an advantage like Amazon, the big wall the high wall and the big moat. I mean, of course, he's looking over her shoulder. He's not going to say that right now. One has an absolute advantage. There aren't viewers that have brand loyalty. Penn content. Loyalty, you know, this better than I do if there's good content viewers will find it right now. Netflix just has the majority of it. Now when it turns at your we're both Catholic and Notre dumb strikes every Kathy especially strikes. French catholics. But every Catholic does your reaction when you were watching that I don't feel live on the Arab. They preempted. As it happened. I I was on the state on an additional hour. So for two hours to sit there when we watched seven hundred fifty tonnes crumble, the spire it was so crushing and I would never say, oh, there's a clear silver lining. But gosh, whether it's the money, they raise and the support from around the world, the importance of that could Joel transcends Catholicism, but the beautiful thing to see is similar, and I'm by no means comparing the disaster when I think about what it was like in New York after we had nine eleven attacks watching people come together. And when you look at Catholics around the world right now, especially those of us. I'm gonna say me included, maybe especially who've been frustrated angry furious at the Catholic church with a lot that's going on in recent years when something like this happened you come together. And you think about your faith in the importance of it and gosh of all the time. Of the year for this unholy week. You can only hope for some sort of resurrection. I'm hoping that every Catholic church in America's second collection Easter Sunday to support the reconstruction of Notre Dame. I know it's happening and a few archdiocese. I don't know if cardinal Dolan has called for New York. But it would seem to me every American Catholic would wanna participate agree or disagree. Stephanie real green? And I think it'll happen Stephanie role. Always a pleasure s rule on Twitter follow as well. Don't go anywhere.

Kim Alberta politico Stephanie role of MSNBC, but the big get now, not Robert C O'Brien special presidential on wiper hostage affairs that we love to have the speed haw on as they say in DC. Now, the secretary of state Mike Pompeo will be joining me a little bit later, but I flew back yesterday. And I had a great flight because I got to watch best of enemies that studio sent me a trailer. People are looking over my shoulder trying to see the trailer Sam Rockwell and gang. It is in grossing. It is fascinating. It is a must see movie, and I don't have to say that. I I how do you make a drama out of a civil rights movement story of nineteen seventy-one? Right. Nobody thinks nineteen seventy-one is where. The action is Patricia Henson and Sam Rockwell just light up the screen Sam Rockwell plays a clansman Hinson plays a civil rights activist in the desegregation of the desegregation cases every year, and it's pretty hard to get lost it, and it's even have twenty two twenty two interested in them because it's so long ago, they can't even imagine segregated schools. They just can't twenty to twenty five years old. They can't imagine segregated school. I didn't go to a segregated school and Ohio is a free country. Always from the time at joined the union in the northwest ordinance days. So we did not have the same kind of problems that we had ratio balance. But we did have a deep south problem or midstate problem or even inner city problem, we just had small city America problems. But the I just want you to go see it because it's the resolution of the race problem in America today, the Sharat that is at the heart. And you say what's Charette? Oh, either I was flying with my buddy, John Yeager to Sacramento one day to sit down with the California Department of fishing game on an issue and he used the word Charette. And I said, well, what does your rent? You said you dummy Charette is a cart that used to move among French architects with plans in lots of holes in there, and the idea where there are a lot of ideas on a cart, and it had morphed into a term of a gathering of different ideas Charette, and I bet him fifty bucks that I could use the word Charette three times in our meeting with about twenty bureaucrats, and no one would say a word about not knowing what it meant anything. No. You can't get away with that. I won't be able to use it three times. And and then someone will call you on it. And sure enough I use the word Charette three times. And so the best of enemies drew me in because they use the word Charette. And and it is funny. It is moving. It is troubling it's painful, but it's necessary for these days best of enemies, go see that. Now. Some of the best of my enemies, are are not enemies at all. They're Democrats, and my democratic friends are falling apart on me. It's sort of like the British Tory party too. In the left. I mean, the Democrats are falling apart into the right of me, the British Tory during complete collapse. Let's start with the Democrats Biden's tactile politics threaten his return in the metoo era. Headline New York Times Joseph Biden came up in politics is an old school back slapper who's greatest strength ability to connect. He doled out handshakes and hugs to friends and strangers awaken. His tendency to lavish defections on women and girls are so central to his persona that became fodder for late night television jokes. But the political ground has shifted under Mr. Biden continues times in a tactile style of retail politicking and no longer a laughing matter in their of metoo now's he considers a run for president. Mr. Biden is struggling to prevent a strength from turning into a crippling liability on Tuesday alone. Two more women told the New York Times if the former vice president touches made them uncomfortable. Now is it true that the change will go back and watch the when you go to see best of enemies watch. How people hug in nineteen seventy-one watch. How people hugging nineteen seventy-one. It's a period piece. I mean, it's relevant to today. Like, no other movie, watch enemies with that in the back of your mind. If you don't get engrossed in the story, which you will get engrossed in, but it's not the way we act today. No, no now, so along now to the Washington Examiner. Two more women accused Joe Biden of inappropriate physical interactions. Two. More women came forward to accused vice president Joe Biden of awkward and unwarranted physical contact. Okay. Now, it's this is.

Released forty Ouch. Ouch. Forty years ago this very week. Hey on a morning after you, see a burst of Donald Trump's thoughts, and a burst of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and the big question is how did this play with the American people seeing things through a variety of lenses is always a great idea. And it's always a great idea on the Hugh Hewitt Show when we buzz up at MSNBC Stephanie role. Stephanie Mark Davis. How you doing? I'm great good morning. Mark happy new year. Happy new year to you. And you're all set for some anchoring and some stuff that's going to happen on MSNBC. I try to look outside my own bubble. I mean, I actually agreed with the presidential side of this. But I also try to assess what resonated more the president's sense of urgency on what needs to be done at the border or the democrat assertion through a Pelosi and Schumer that this is all just a contrived crisis. And we should just just let's get the government back open. And then we can talk. I mean, the whole thing to me immigration reform is massively important border security is massively important disappointment across the board last night was no new news. Right. I mean, the president reiterated something about the need for a wall. And that doesn't seem modern. He doesn't have a all Republicans behind him. He couldn't get money for the border wall from his own party last year. And I do think in terms of a crisis. We gotta get the government back open. We've got to get all of those government workers paid as soon as possible. And well, we need to be concerned about our borders. Many of the things that the president said concern me fearmongering because remember it was two weeks before the midterms was pushing. So so so hard on the caravan and calling that a crisis and then after the election. Really didn't hear very much about it. It is a crisis. And let's address it collectively. And you know to John case against today. And he said, listen. Republicans need to give Democrats and Republicans have the willing to go to the table. The president isn't because he's really standing strong on his physical wall issuing it regretted for the loosen up on that. It'd be a lot of people think it'd be great if he'd never given on that at all a lot of people that could be great. If Senator Schumer Nancy Pelosi said, all right? Take the five point six billion. We wasted that much since we all went to bed last night. Go ahead. Take it. You're the president take it. What's wrong with that idea? Not just Nancy Pelosi. How come enough Republicans didn't vote for that last year? Oh, it's a very very good point. And a lot of it is because of a mindset kind of like your buddy, John casick. But here we are now here, we are now the government shutdown. It could open tomorrow. If Democrats said, okay, we'll fund the wall. Why is that a bad idea? If the wall was a bad idea when Republicans were in control. Why is it a good idea? It's not it has always been a good idea. There have never been enough. Republicans who steadfastly believed it maybe that's changing. I don't know. But the question was if the government could reopen by the time, you're anchoring on MSNBC today, if the government could reopen if Democrats said, okay, you're the president. We're going to fund the wall. Why is that a bad idea because the hold everything hostage for a wall that not enough Republicans or Democrats collectively want doesn't make much sense, except I think they do want it. I think they they're enjoying the cover the vote for what you are right about that. You are indeed right about that. So how does this play out how long how long do you think shutdown lasts? And how's this? How's this all going to work out to the benefit or detriment both sides? I mean, like everything I think it's a numbers game. I think I am sure. Mcconnell feverishly count every vote they can on their side because Republicans can't bear to lose support from their own team. If they do that'll sort of force the president chance, but with the president needs right now is a win. He may lighten up a bit on the wall if he gets a win elsewhere. If we start to see progress with China that would be a big positive into the president is in a position right now where.

So so so hard on the caravan and calling that a crisis, and then after the election really didn't hear very much about it. It is a crisis. Then let's address it collectively. And you know, I spoke to John case against today. And he said, listen. Republicans need to give Democrats and Republicans have the willing to go to the table. The president isn't because he's really standing strong on his physical wall, right? It'd be great if we could loosen up on that. But well, it'd be a lot of people think he'd be great if he'd never given on that at all a lot of people that can be great. If Senator Schumer Nancy Pelosi said, all right? Take the five point six billion. We wasted that much since we all went to bed last night. Go ahead. Take it. You're the president take it. What's wrong with that idea? Not just Nancy Pelosi. How come enough Republicans did vote for that last year? Oh, it's a very very good point. And a lot of it is because of a mindset kind of like your buddy, John casick. But here we are now here we are. Now, the government is shut it could open tomorrow. If Democrats said, okay, we'll fund the wall. Why is that a bad idea? If the wall was a bad idea when Republicans were in control. Why is it a good idea? It's not it has always been a good idea. There have never been enough Republicans who who steadfastly believed it, maybe that's changing. I don't know. But the question was if the government could reopen by the time, you're anchoring on MSNBC today, if the government could reopen if Democrats said, okay, you're the president. We're gonna fund the wall. Why is that a bad idea because the to hold everything hostage for a wall that not enough Republicans or Democrats collectively want doesn't make much sense, except I think they do want it. I think they they they they're enjoying cover the vote for what you are. Right about that. You are indeed right about that. So how does this play out how long how long you think shutdown lasts and how's this? How's this all going to work out to the benefit or detriment of both sides? I mean, like everything I think it's a numbers game. I think I I'm sure. Mcconnell feverishly count every vote they can on their side because publicans can't bear to lose support from their own team. If they do that'll sort of forced the president chance, but with the president needs right now is a win. He may lighten up a bit on the wall if he gets a win elsewhere. If we start to see progress with China that would be a big positive. You know, the president is in a position right now.

Talk of entitlement reform takes over as midterms near

"There were not politically, correct. But they've done what needed to be done in order to unleash the animal spirits. Alan greenspan's. Alan Greenspan, Stephanie. It's pretty tough to argue with him. Are you sure he said he loves the Trump tax cuts or you gotta sit there constructive. Now. He loved he loved it. They were politically incorrect. Now, what he doesn't love is that we haven't done entitlement reform to accompany them. I wanna you know, it's coming to that. But he loves the Trump tax cuts one of the things about entitlement reform that we need is it surprises me the young people. Don't get more engaged on the entitlement reform ya you know, they sort of latch onto issues that are very very popular in the news. Entitlement reform or something I think people should really care about. Listen, the issue with the tax cut is it's a clear positive for corporate America. The tax code as it was far too complicated. But the amount of taxes that they cut you could ask Jamie Dimon. He will say, listen, I'm glad we got the tax cut. We didn't need it to be as much as it is because we are facing a massive deficit, and as far as the tax cut goes we're seeing corporations do so well two weeks ago. I the business council summit there hasn't been a hundred fortune five hundred there tickled pink, and they're saying they're spending there investing hiring and even without the tax cuts. Deregulation has been a huge positive for corporate America because remember in the Obama administration. It was not a pro business administration. And even if companies weren't faced with new taxes, the threat of regulations of threat more could be coming down the pike was preventing companies from spending. You're definitely seeing corporate America in a very good place book at the stock market one of the reasons the stock market is doing so. Well, suddenly. Corporations have twice as much cash on the books. So it is a positive obviously have a very tight labor market time to see wages push up more than they have this far. So Stephanie role year in the second bluest bubble in America. I always think that silicon valley's a bluer bubble the Manhattan, but I just had Marsha Blackburn on she's had a nineteen point swing in her direction over two weeks, Heidi Heitkamp has fallen apart. And she did a pratfall releasing the name of abuse survivors against their will yesterday that is blowing up. You've got mic. Sally surging ahead of cinema. Do you sense that the blue tide is a thing of the past? And that in fact, we're looking at it read time, I've talked about this a lot. I've never seen a massive Blue Wave coming thing that distresses me isn't are we going massive, bluer massive read the thing that distresses me is the hollowing out of the center on both sides. That is what I think is the most concerning and I think we're seeing it in both parties. Did you read David Brooks piece yesterday about the eight percent on the left? China today. Oh, are you really? Because that is that's the most interesting thing. But the noise comes from those two groups, that's the note, and by the way, our cable channels both left and right that noise. I don't know how we're ever going to break out of this you you are one hundred percent, correct. On a us. An example for you on Monday when I woke up I wasn't on TV. I heard what not the media thought of what Hillary Clinton said on Monday on Sunday about her husband, and Monica Lewinsky. Okay, saying it was not an abusive power. So I said via Twitter take something clear what the president of the United States has a sexual encounter with an intern. It doesn't matter how she behaved, blah, blah, blah. That's an abusive pallet. I'm not saying I'm not saying it's a soft. It is an abuse of power. When I tell you, Hugh, I got a nihil lead on Twitter, and I should hold on a second. Because of course, I've wanted what about Trump what about companies both things can be true abuse. Power is not unique to one industry wants sport, one one nation or one political party. But the tribalism we are seeing the absolute forgiveness of one side and an assault of another. Stop. It's unreasonable. It is going to be very difficult to break away from the profit motive of super serving the six in the eight percent. But I'm glad you're doing the David. That's what that's why I watched up and he going do the David Brooks. Brooks column is the smartest thing I've read in ages. Hey, man payments. Definitely real good to talk to you s rule on Twitter American, of course on MSNBC. Don't go anywhere. I'm coming right back America time to keep talking about these midterms. The red tide is coming everything

"She can explain she can explain it because this precedent has a hard time what's inappropriate what's an appropriate for this breadth and ride i'm more wondering though about the inner circle who who pushed for scaramucci who let's just let's leave that story aside for now because it's kind of sad we'll have his job was to push out previous and spicer mission accomplished that leaves steve bannon to represent the establishment yeah teen robinson as a great column on this which we're going to get you a little bit sanders also made it clear that all staff will report to general kelly says six months later they finally get the needed chief of staff at everybody gets in line behind which could really help you never know i guess it's never too late to lose hope even as late as sunday evening scaramucci told msnbc stephanie role that he believed the fallout from his new yorker interview would blow over but as the new york times reports quote it was soon clear that mr scour mood she would not be a fixture of the administration but a transitory figure who created an opportunity for mr trump with his daughter ivanka and soninlaw jared kushner to undertake the farreaching shakeup intended to purge the white house staff up leakers an aids viewed as not sufficiently loyal to his cause and seemingly above the fray of it all the president tweeted a great day at the white house do i understand that to to be them saying that they plan to this.
