We're still quite early in the transition and we only use data in our analyses from 2013 to 2019 because we wanted to avoid the pandemic years and so we were surprised were that able we to actually start to link it with these health and results and evidence that going electric not only benefits the climate it can also help improve people's health. "Starting or joining a team today. Traffic and weather on the 8th to Carlos Ramirez in the WTO traffic center. Thank you so very much Stephanie hearing now from a listener that if you are headed on the eastbound side of I 66 coming from the front royal area on your approach towards Linden right by the exit four Lyndon, there is a vehicle fire, a rather large vehicle fire according to our listener, says that this smoke coming out of the vehicle is actually causing visibility issues to the point where you have to move over to the far left hand side of the roadway to actually drive past the thick smoke. So if you're headed eastbound on 66, after the front royal exits, heads up, be aware be alert and stay to the left hand side of the roadway. Also keep an eye out for your rearview mirrors likely that you start to see some fire trucks making their way. The extra careful as well because if there is a vehicle on fire, chances are, those that were inside the vehicle are likely outside now. So you also have to watch out for some pedestrians on the highway. So be again, extra cautious eastbound side of 66 after front royal on your approach towards London, past that point, a little closer to the Marshall exit. There is a disabled tractor trailer, a broken down tractor trailer, blocking the far left hand side of the roadway, so watch out for that as well. Westbound side of 66 after the little after the Prince William Parkway towards 29, right lane still blocked. Eastbound side of the dulles toll road, the ramp to northbound four 95 is closed. You can not head onto the interloop of the beltway from the dulles toll road. One 8 6 6 three O four WTO is a traffic tip line on Carlos Ramirez WTO traffic. "Neighbor But that's certainly was not the back story for the fight that i had ever envisioned. Oh my god interesting neighbors. I had a when i lived in rural north florida. One of my neighbors Chihuahua breeder so that was something. Yeah i don't know if we've ever had like super bizarre neighbors. We would probably the bizarre neighbors. Did you hear what they got now. They had a pudding wrestling match and then they got a goat. And there's an iguana in the back of i mean. The goats in the pudding happened at the same time the iguana was. i mean. My dad has another iguana now And my dad doesn't know how to use facebook so he wanted to show me photos of you wanna but thought he was messaging them to me on facebook Really just posting them to my time line on facebook. "If you'd like to join in the conversation tonight that is how you get on the air. It is free talk live and that is what we do here so feel free to dial in. I wanted to kick things off though with an article out of nbc news. From a few days ago that i found interesting the says thousands of service members meaning military saying no to the covid vaccine. I'm surprised they can say no. That's what i thought. I didn't know that they could also surprised that they can say no. Some units are seeing as few as one third agreeing to the vaccine. Sounds about in line with The populace i saw poll saying that somewhere around. Seventy percent are intending to take this thing. I don't know if i believe that of the american people. Seventy percent are intending to take it Take the vaccine. That seems high. Wasn't it didn't you just say one. Third of the troops are refusing it. Yeah so that is in line so there'll be about in line. Well i just. I guess you know i live amongst our community and everybody's rather nope not gonna take it but so many people i know in san antonio who aren't libertarians. They were like. There's no way i'm taking that. So that's why it just seems so high to me. I mean it could just be. Bs who knows it's obviously going to be different. In different areas of the country some urban areas. It's probably going to be more than seventy percent in some rural areas. It'll probably be half or maybe less who knows well. This article says that frustrated commanders are scrambling to knock down internet rumors and find the right pitch that will persuade troops to get the shot. I don't know what they mean by knocking down internet rumors it the idea that The vaccine could be deadly that the vaccine could be dangerous that it could have wanted side effects. You know anything that might be true. would be an internet rumor according to nbc news. I don't get any. I bump into this in real life on a pretty regular basis if you know how to use the internet. It's really not that difficult to get corroborating evidence. I if you suspect a thing you know it's it's not that difficult to go online. Do some research and go. Oh look okay yeah you know. Here's the source user as far as just like from a journalistic point of view. Yeah well actually you can find that There's evidence for all positions so you can take whatever position you want and find evidence to support it usually on the internet correct. But at the same time. I find that people still sort of pooh pooh the internet as a source of information when it is probably the single greatest advancement in mankind as far as to information. It's point. I mean. I guess i don't see that happening. But maybe it's just because the people i spend time around ten to respect the internet and and use it a lot but yeah it stephanie's hearing this nbc news story. I'll give you an example. The first department that i rented When i moved to new hampshire There was the extensive dog throughout the house. You could tell it. The carpets were stained. let pets head. You know taking care of their business on several areas of the carpets throughout the house and You know the landlord said something like well have a carpet cleaner guy. Come over. And i'm like okay but you know. I'm pretty sure that that's not going to seal the deal. You know i've seen this type of thing before and other apartments. And i don't think cleaning is going to take care of it. Yeah it's cetera. And saw i went on the internet you know. Did some looking turns out that you know if you see a certain type of stain and you know it has certain rings around it and you know it appears to have gone through that. It's likely soaked into the under limits and and the whatever if there's any cushion between the carpet and the under limits and usually what they have to do is rip up the carpet the underlying which painting a special kind of paint. They used to seal the under limit and then put new carpeting down. That's generally the consensus. Among renters and landlords online. I went found some forums. I went some pounds of people that had pets former landlords who had rented the people other people have been dealing with this. That's one of the nice things about the internet. Is you can connect with those people right. And so just through some reading. I had mentioned to the landlord. I'm like okay. Well you know. I just you know. I'm kind of a nerd. And i've been online and i've looked at all this stuff and here's what i found in the first thing that of his mouth was well. You know you can't believe everything you read on the internet You can't and i'm like yes. That's true however you know this. These are my sources. This is what i found. This is what. I believe to be true right and so he went ahead and did it his way anyway. Which of course cost him twice the money right because he had to pay for the carpet cleaning guy to come out clean. The carpets fail at it because the stench came right back and then eventually come in rip out the carpets rip out the and then resealed the under limit and sure enough you could tell you could see the stains on the under layment and after they were carpet and the padding and all that stuff so yeah you know. I was trying to help the guy out. Yeah i used to be on anti vaccination groups on facebook facebook. Just because i wanted to get other information that wasn't going to be like as available and there was like forums where lots of people would put all their information about vaccines and it wasn't because i was anti vaccine just want to learn more and if i ever had kids i wanted to be informed if i wanted to get vaccines. And they were always posting their conversations with people who were mad at them for being anti vaccine and not vaccinating their kids and the people always said like you. Just got this off the internet. You're just getting your information off the internet. Even though it was like peer reviewed scientific research from the internet. I was thinking about this actually on the drive over to the studio today that the internet has done something to the human dynamic. And i can say this because i'm older than the internet so before the internet if you had thought about something and you didn't know the answer and you wanted to know the answer you would think a couple of things right you would like well. Maybe i'll look that up. When i go to the library the night encyclopedia get everything. You knew somebody who was you know your community expert. Your family expert. Whatever your circle of friends expert on that particular topic. Oh ask billy. The next time i see him or whatever i have a friend We call him the genius and the reason we call them the genius because his older brother was actual radio dj while he was growing up and so he was exposed to a whole bunch of music albums and what year they came out and i mean all basically rock and roll and then he of course became heavy metal singer and drummer later on in his life but like we call them the genius because we could call them up and be like hey. Do you remember that song from this band and it was probably between this year in that year. What album was oh. Is this doing right off the time yet. Like trivial pursuit of genius. That's how he got his nickname so it occurs to me that that particular part of the social interaction of humans has gone away now because now when i think of you know something like a song that i can't remember what album that's off of immediately. Go to the magic rectangle in my pocket and instead of calling my friend the genus. There's still the people that are worth calling up on that though Darryl perry former co host here on free talk live. He's like that with things. Like the state house of new hampshire. You wanna know. Some sort of arcane obscure rule of the government and how it works how the process. Yeah the process you can call him up and it would it. Would you could find it online but it might take some time finding the right source finding wherever whatever the stupid you know. House rule is and he would just note off the top of his head. So there's those people still are valuable. Yeah absolutely. I'm just saying that like people you know kids growing up with the internet are going to be less apt to think of a person who might be a subject matter expert in authority if you will you know. I'm using the tournament. A non governmental fashion the way authorities supposed to be used. But i figured that that's kinda going the way of the dodo. Yeah probably so. But i- segue this article says some army. Units are.

"It was done? That was so campaign. Thanks for hanging with us. You're listening to the shop girls on my top one of 71. I'm Allie Kaplan with my mom. Harmony. Oh, I promised you a little bit of winter apparel news as we continue. I did earlier and then we didn't deliver it. And I wanted to do that. Yeah, probably. Well, I mean, as we all spend more time than ever outside, it does change your thinking about what you need. I have never been so excited as I was to receive this week. Some heavy, duty lined winter pants that I ordered. I mean, I'm telling you, I was more excited about this than anything I've bought in a year. The brand is, um Craft. Called craft, Not like the cheese. Does that, like all the same way? No. It's with a C O. They carry it at the carry Some versions of them at Nordstrom. They weren't the warmest ones that I wanted. I found them at Ari. I Okay. And what do they like the car So I have tried. I have tried the police leggings. I've tried the lined heavy leggings. I have not found them to be particularly warm. Not not warm enough. If you're really gonna be out, or you're gonna be sledding or something like that. I still feel like you need another layer. These are, you know, Kind of feel like snow pants on the outside, But they're not that thick. They're not that, you know, like you can move in them the regular pants, But they are warm and I wore them for my wood chopping session. If you're like what, you better go back and listen to the beginning of the show. And I'm telling you, my I was super warm. Really? Yes. But I also wanted to mention because Stephanie Hansen was talking about needing some gear. And so as we passed in the hallway, I said, Check out craft. I think you'll like it. I got the suggestion from a friend of mine who's in owes a winter runner and that's the brand that she loves. But Stephanie heard from a listener and was kind enough to forward this along. Here is a local brand. It's called Arctic Denham. Okay, Denham made in Minnesota. And they are cold weather genes. And so if you're wondering what the heck do you wear? If you're going to go sit outside of a restaurant in January? Maybe this brand is for you. They are they look. Like jeans. They look fashionable. But they are warmer. The price is I'm going to tell you they have several different styles for men and women. Waterproof windproof breathe a bull. Not cheap $198. Okay, But I mean, if you mean no different, frankly than write a lot of real winter sports person and you're gonna be outside a lot, you know? Let me say I wouldn't know I don't these air not what you're gonna wear when you're going Nordic skiing. I mean, they look like jeans. These have actual buttons these air like hard pants. You know, like that. These are not let these airmen why do you need them to be warm? If because we were taught we were talking about, you know, we're doing all these things outside. Okay? Seven. Nelson was saying, What do you wear? Now? When you go? You know how many of us have set up? Side for lunch in January and February before but suddenly people are doing this. What do you wear? This would be a.

"Knowing you have to produce a negative covert test to get back? No, actually my family and I just canceled a trip that we had planned from before cold. It started. We were supposed to go to the Bahamas and in March and we all the restrictions to get in, gave us some pause. But we were still going to get it. Go for the Bahamas. You had to test negative five days before you left the United States. You have to gonna get the healthy so that you described part of the healthy So though you had to pay a fee. For Medevac insurance, so that if you get cold it while you're on the island, and you are symptomatic they would evacuate you under this insurance. When you're on the island, you had to take an app and you had to put all your symptoms in a nap every day that you're there on your fifth today on the island, you have to take another test again if that test came back positive. And you had any symptoms? They were kicking me out. Now we were going to stay for nine days and so or 10 days, And so two days later now we would have had to get this friend test to get back into the United States Now where we just said. That's enough. That was the straw that broke the camel's back at that point. Because if we tested positive on that one, and we had any symptoms, they're going to try to medevac us out of the country. There's no stand there even with insurance, too. That's not going to be cheap, either. No. And then what do you do? Us Won't take care of the Bahamas doesn't want you. You know, I just realized Stephanie, you only just realized it is easier to vote in this country that it is to travel to the Bahamas. It is it is. Yeah, And And so we just said that was it? That was enough us. I'm jealous of the guy that called prior that could actually extended vacation and do that, But that was just not an option for us, so we can't hold everything. So first of all, congratulations. I mean, a go getter If you put a booked a trip to the Bahamas in a year in advance, I don't know what I'm having for dinner later on tonight, let alone where I'm gonna be in march of 2022 for crying out loud but good for you. But again, Stephanie represents. I think we're a lot of people are mentally they want to travel in the case of Stephanie Heard her family already had the trip booked 13 months in advance. They were willing to jump through the hoops that need to be jumped through in this air of Colbert. But then when Joe Biden decides you know what you got to produce a negative test if you want to come back, and if you don't Too bad, so sad. People are deciding. It's not worth it. And there's an economic impact to that. Let's wrap up with Andy and Hubertus. Andy, you're on Newstalk. 11 30 W Why I said, How are you, sir? Good. Do you think taking my call from my wife and I are actually going to Cancun first week in March. Good for you. So we postpone this trip like three or four times And you know what? Mom and dad need some time to. We've decided to leave the kids at home. Both of us are health care workers. The Bulls had both doses of the vaccine. And we can't remember any That doesn't matter it for this case, you could get 17 vaccines. I do realize that, however, with the exposure that my wife and I have had and that we have not contracted it that we know of, Obviously we feel that the other actually probably in our favor now having the fact seeing that we as a position center after dropped already, so We just feel confident off that We're willing to take the risk. There you go. Have fun. Knowing what's coming our way this weekend. I'm quite jealous. Thank you very much..
