"Floor. Fast enough. This was for Carrie Lake's loss, general and happiness with his coverage of the coverage of meeting with Nazis. That was premature. Oh, sorry. Okay. Ryan. Rhino curl wrote with a losing record the likes of which people would go operatives to be able to get away with including his loss to me in 2016 fights so hard and so stupidly isn't constantly on Fox News on the one screen Wall Street Journal explaining how things should be done and he doesn't have a clue. People can't stand the mcclone even more in popular than Paul Ryan who sadly wrote Fox News. Now I want to be very bad path rover designer, denier. Denier. Dion. Okay, which makes him a fool, watch. Charlie Pierce: It's Time the GOP Put the Reagan Era in the Ground

"You talked about the GOP chairwoman. For the moment, until she is replaced with a pillow. Replaced by the sweaty guy. It'll be like a folgers commercial. Ronald Daniels has been replaced by a pillow. Let's see if anyone know can tell the difference. She said, as I've repeatedly said, white supremacy neo nazism hate speech and bigotry are disgusting and do not have a home in the Republican Party and you said the problem is the Republican Party has found a home in all those things. Like, yeah, absolutely. They absolutely have found a home in the Republican Party. Yeah, that's why the project has to be to reduce the Republican Party as it presently constituted the rubble, let them rebuild something that makes, you know, that has at least a tenuous connection to sanity. And abandon a lot of the conservative policies that unfortunately have allowed them to win elections. Yeah. You know, I mean, it's time for it's time to put the Reagan era in the ground forever.

Trump's Truth Social Admission With Charlie Pierce

"Charlie. So what is a bob cesca rule? Trump always makes things worse for Trump. Yes. He has basically in writing now admitted to this document crime right in an ongoing rant posted through social media he admitted he stole the documents from The White House, concealed them for a year lied to the FBI, his lawyers lied in court documents, then demanded a special master now a special master overseeing a likely prosecution. He said, when will you invade Bill and Hillary's home in search of the 33,000 emails? Oh, God. She deleted blah, blah, blah. When will you invade the other person? He wants them to raid Bill and Hillary's house to find emails that were deleted. Right. Because those are easy to find. Yeah. Yeah, I was going to say that's a sort of a contradiction in there somewhere that I'm going to have puzzle out. Right. Right. But the two important words are I did. Basically said, yes, I stole them.

Kevin McCarthy Needs to Stop Embarrassing Himself

"Speaking of horrible horrible men, you tweeted about Kevin McCarthy, which can I just say how hilarious it is that he probably is not even qualified enough to actually get the votes together to be speaker. So we'll see. I mean, do you remember Nancy Pelosi had to put down more than one rebellion? That's why she's such an amazing negotiator, vote counter and leader, but I thought, oh my God, this stumble. He's not going to be able to figure out how to piece together enough votes. It doesn't seem like right now. Yeah. But yeah, and you talked about his oh, and the very first day wolff read every single word of the constitution allowed from the floor. You just said the thing is this yutz knows what embarrassing this is, but he'll do it anyway, cringe or not. Also, they've done that every Congress forever. I know. I know. And it is so cringe. Whenever whichever party does it, you know, it's like this big show. Nobody's watching. I mean, if you're watching, what is wrong with you? It takes you, it takes 5 minutes to read the constitution. You know, instead you're going to sit there and listen to them for a couple of hours. It's the right wing version of virtue signaling. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it is so, and you know, they all carry the constitution in their pockets. They don't read it. Like, it's not available on their phones.

A Friendly Reminder: If You Feel Sick, Test for Covid

"Oh, hi, rudeness, hi. Good morning. I want to add something to your warning there. Which is that even if you're fully vaccinated, that if you are feeling sick, test yourself. Get tested because you want to catch it early. And that's what happened, you know, my stepdad's in the hospital and that was one of the things is he waited to test until it was advanced and you can't get on the pax lova and all of that. So that's why I didn't have symptoms, but I tested yesterday because I was like, yeah. Don't you think that's part of it, rude, and I know you're in Louisiana now and so we're sending our love and light because we've all been through it and it's just I know you've had it like Chris and I have had it. Wait, oh yes, you've had a two I forgot. You finally. I got it in August. Yeah. But yeah, it is terrifying. We have a mom that's almost a hundred with Alzheimer's. It's just the sense in society that we're supposed to take care of other people or at least not be a to other people, right? Just depress me in the airport and on the plane and even in the nursing home. Like, nobody's wearing a mask anymore. I've gone back, you know, on the flights I wore a mask, you know? Obviously in the hospital, I. Just, it doesn't make any sense at this point not to, especially, like you said, as we're going into winter. And you know what? I also don't want to get the RSV bug the time. Right there. Yeah. So yeah, Doctor Fauci was talking about that. RSV flew, here we go. Hang on. We have vaccinations for clearly COVID, particularly with the updated boosters that are now available. We have vaccinations for influenza. We're already starting to see an early surge of both flu and RSV. We don't have a vaccine for RSV. This particularly problematic for children 5 years of age and younger and for the elderly. But there are things you can do with RSV is avoid congregate settings in particularly if you have a cold or a sneezing and stay home, wear a mask, wash your hands. And as Ruth said, get tested if you're feeling anything, right? But anyway, have some tests on hand, you know? Yeah. And by the way, some places, some pharmacies and I hate to be like, you know, you know, mister information this morning instead of making sodomy jokes. Oh, we'll get to those. We're going to want in with those. I saw what you did there. That's a mouthful. Anyway, there's, but you know, you can also some pharmacies if your insurance will allow it. They'll give you the test for free. And they will take care of it. Like a prescription or something like that instead of going through the whole, you know. Thank you. Thank you, mister. They will.

"Also, close personal friend of Bon Jovi, you were in his music videos, he was in young guns, et cetera that's right. How did that happen? So I was a fan of that song that he wrote called wanted dead or alive, and we listened to it during the first young guns. And Ali sheet is like patient zero. She was friendly with. And me too, from USC theater. She's the she was friends with John and Richie sambora, and she introduced John and I and John says, hey man, you know, I love young guns one. Can I be involved with youngsters? I said, you know, once you come out to New Mexico and we'll throw in cameo, he shows up in the middle of shooting and he says, hey, I wrote a song. I'd love to play it for you. And I said, oh my God, whatever. Sure. Yeah. How good could it be? Can I play it for you now? And he had it written on a piece of lined. Paper and he's sat down and played in the car and it was blazing glory. Wow. And I had the day off. And I said, get in the car. We drove to set. I said, there's the director and producers go in there and play it for them. And he did. And he was nominated for an Oscar. I think he won the Golden Globe for the song. And an entire album was born out of that experience. So yeah, he and I have been friends for a while, and it was I think that was his first solo album, was it?

How Emilio Estevez Got One up on Alec Baldwin

"So Demi Moore though, you were you did wisdom with the Demi Moore. We were engaged. Yeah, that's what I thought. Yeah. No? No, I'm just kidding. No, but I'll tell you. But there's an Alec Baldwin component to this. This is in your new movie? And Alec doesn't even know this. Alex and his latest film does not know this story. Uh oh. Oh. Juicy castle. Do not use this clip. Alec Baldwin does not know the truth of how he came to be known by me. And that is, there was a bunch of us. There was a group of us. It was, you know, Tom Cruise and Sean Penn and so we were all up for the same roles and we, you know, we'd fight it out in some way would get the offer and someone would be in waiting. If that person passed, then you'd step in and we were all sort of kind of interchangeable for a moment. Along comes Alec Baldwin. Right. He's 6 foot something. He's not fucking ridiculously handsome. He's a wonderful actor. And the whole town is abuzz. All your hearing is Alec Baldwin Alec Baldwin. You and Tom Cruise are out slamming tequila. He's a dick. He's too tall. Right. So, Demi and I are engaged. She has a, she's living in a little bungalow that she owns in West Hollywood, and she has to go to the dentist and leaves me a home alone at her house. I sort of for, you know, for the afternoon. Right. Do you remember the days when we used to have the little phone answering machines and had the volume up? Oh, so you could hear it. Of screen calls. Hi. It's Alec Baldwin. Oh, I love this story. Go ahead. The phone rings. The volume's on. Hello to me. It's Alec Baldwin. And he's going on. And I don't know what. I don't know what the relationship is after that point. But I'm her fiance. Did you pick it up? It's Emilio. No. No, no, no. No? No, no. No. I walked over to the machine and I said, interesting. Alec Baldwin just called interesting. Huh. Erase. I hit the erase. And I felt like I had just given him some right hook, a cold cocktail. I knocked out a moment flat he's out overly tall. Done. To this day, I don't know if she ever heard the message or he ever called back.

"I use the other than your dad talked about is how proud of you he was of you that you didn't ever, you kept your name. Which is his name. But he was saying, in his generation, like, I don't know if he would have been Martin Sheen if he'd had a Hispanic surname, but he, you know, he was proud of you that you well, you have to remember in 19 58. Yeah. But I don't remember it. But thank you. From a historical context, you, of course. I've heard of it. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. The Puerto Ricans were being blamed for everything in New York. And so my dad with his real name is Ramona stairs. And casting director said, dude, what? You don't look anything like you don't look Puerto Rican. And so he decided, hey, but even in 1979, 1980, when I started going out on auditions, casting directors and managers and agents here in this town would say, you know, you have to Shane name you should use it. You don't look Hispanic and my dad and I had that conversation. He said, don't make the same mistake I did. Yeah. What did you say? I made other mistakes. Was there any discussion between you and Charlie or your dad why he chose to keep it and you didn't or it just was personal decision? Charlotte takes shortcuts. Oh, what? Did I just do not use that clip to sell this? No. Do not Travis. I'm editing it out. God damn it, Travis, don't. Carlos estevez, you're not fooling anybody.

Emilio Estevez Talks About His Last Fight With Charlie Sheen

"I do remember one night Charlie and I got into it. In fact, he's writing a book right now. And he's going to include this as a chapter. But there was one night where we got in some huge fight, and it was summer in the windows were opened and it devolved into I'll kill you. I'll kill you. I'll fucking kill you. And then, and then it was, go ahead, kill me, you fucker. I mean, it was back and forth. The neighbors, of course, heard. Right. And ten minutes later I don't know, three officers. Hands up. And this was 30 years. This is an activism years ago, right? This is some bullshit. I'm not gonna get arrested for you kids again. No, we were home alone. Oh. Yeah. And so they came to the door and they said, we've heard the neighbors heard someone's going to kill somebody and we're here. To make sure that that doesn't happen. It was very embarrassing. Charlie and I looked at each other and started laughing hysterically, and that's the last fight we ever had. It took the police.

Malcolm Nance Is Right—Far Right Republicans Want to Kill Americans

"I hate that every time we have to talk to you, there's something that's proves you're right that is not a good thing. Someone just tweeted as Malcolm nan says they want to kill Americans. You tweeted, you know, after the Colorado Springs stochastic terrorism, Kerry lakes doing it in Arizona. January 6th, the Paul Pelosi attack, you know, and they just don't stop. You know, they don't stop in terms of targeting people, Mike Pompeo just called the head of the teachers union, the most dangerous person in the world. Wow. Really? Yeah. I mean, I saw that yesterday I was absolutely stunned. Well, yes. And they want to kill Americans, and they are now encouraging other Americans to target other Americans. And the worst part is we are just getting started. Things are going to get much much worse. And I'm going to give that to you straight, no chaser. This is a pure, very obvious intelligence analysis that now because they won the House of Representatives. They feel not just empowered, but emboldened to go after their enemies. "You tweeted Congress if you're listening. It's time for an investigation. I'd fashion it an impeachment inquiry of justice Alito, his lies to the Senate to the American people into the late senator Ted Kennedy must be investigated because women's constitutional rights matter. Yeah, I got to get your take on this latest bombshell report about justice Alito leaking. Yeah, The New York Times made it pretty clear in its reporting. I think two days ago, a couple mister and misses Wright had dinner with another couple, mister and misses Alito, and the next day, misses Wright contacted this reverend shank is his name and said, I've got some very interesting information. No emails, please, and then she told him that basically Alito authored the hobby lobby opinion. Another opinion that basically is religion over the rule of law, and that hobby lobby is gonna win. So Alito leaked his own opinion, the hobby lobby opinion. Don't you think he probably also leaked the Dobbs opinions revoking women's constitutional privacy rights? Yeah. And then acted all huffy about it.

Glenn Kirschner Sheds Some Light on Special Counsel Jack Smith

"So let's get to the big question. Because we've been flailing without you as you know. Ever since the appointment of Jack Smith, who apparently is not the guy in the matrix, he puts on sunglasses. I think he is. But no, it's a different guy. Different guy. Okay. But Glenn, I think it was Barbara mcquaid, I saw on TV first that said, you know, the Justice Department wouldn't be doing a special prosecutor if they weren't going to indict. If they were going to decline. So, you know, and then everyone from tally nostalgia was like, this is no Jill wine banks initially said this is a waste of time and money. And you and I have been obviously impatient for justice for a long time and my first thought is, why isn't an indictment? Why is it, you know, yet another step. But, you know, it takes me a second to calm down. But just a little. But I think we all have Mueller fatigue, right? We think, oh God, are we starting all over again, blah, blah, blah. And a lot of people have pointed out how Lawrence tribe and others that they think this will speed it up and not slow it down. Dying to get your take on it because I do get that it's different a bill Barr's not in charge, it's not Trump's Justice Department. He is not starting from scratch, but give us your whole overview on this. Yes, Steph, I wish we had an hour. There's so much to unpack. And we do have, we have superhero fatigue. We thought bob Mueller was going to come in and take Trump out. His report did take Trump out the problem is Congress and the Department of Justice didn't act on the crimes that bob Mueller documented in volume two of the Trump Russia report. We thought Merrick Garland was going to come in and do what was necessary. It turns out in hindsight, Merrick Garland turned out to be too much judge and not enough prosecutors. So I am not prepared to say Jack Smith is galloping in on the white horse and he's going to take care of all this. However, first thing I did was I talked to all my Friends and former colleagues who worked with or for Jack Smith. I don't know Jack personally, to a person, they can not speak highly enough of his determination to hold criminal politicians accountable. Without regard to politics or criticism or fear of failure, here's why I really like the appointment of Jack Smith. We can do an autopsy on whether Merrick Garland should have appointed a special counsel. There are good arguments on both sides, but I think the bottom at the bottom of it all wants Trump announced he was a candidate. Let's face it, Merrick Garland is Joe Biden's attorney general. So to have Joe Biden's attorney general going after Joe Biden's only announced political opponent in the 2024 election, I believe, left Merrick Garland, no other choice but to appoint a special counsel.

Club Q Shooting Is About Guns Not Red Flag Laws Says Glenn Kirschner

"Not the happiest subject to start with, obviously, because clearly all the talk is about this latest tragedy. Predictable tragedy in Colorado, right? Talk to us a minute just about the red flag laws failing to, this guy apparently legally purchased this AR-15. Just talk to us about your initial thoughts on what's happened. Yeah, so red flag laws allow law enforcement authorities to temporarily seize weapons from somebody if they believe that person poses a demonstrable danger to others. What we are learning in the aftermath of the club Q shooting is that this gunman apparently had made bomb threats. He was charged with kidnapping and menacing. Now, what we have, what I have seen reported as those charges were dropped and apparently the record was sealed. So whether this was truly a failure of red flag laws or not, you know, we'll have to wait to hear more about that. But, you know, this is all about guns. It's not about mental health. It's not about frankly red flag laws. It's all about guns and the Republicans, as we know, will continue to worship at the altar of virtually unrestricted access to weapons of war, assault rifles, and they'll continue to let the blood money flow into their campaign coffers until we rise up and say we're not going to take it anymore.

So as the most easily owned lib in America, I get that I'm supposed to go, but I honestly, I don't give a you know what I mean. Whatever. I mean I was actually when that came out because I was one of my reactions was, oh, thank God I don't have to go on truth socially. We're truth toilet as I prefer to call it. And then I saw that, and it was like, well, great. And then he said, now I'm going to stay on truth social. And I was like, ah man, I really hate your site. I mean, why don't we all invade that? Yeah. Why don't we all just flood into truth so sure? Sure. You know, I look to a lot of people we love on like Sarah kensy or something. I do not see the information space. The Rude Pundit Weighs in on Trumps Twitter Return

"Good morning. Hi. I think you summed it up best. You said, let's face it. Anyone who supports Donald Trump doing anything is just a human being. Thank you. Oh, yeah. That's in response to, you know, weird Elon letting him back on Twitter. And if people are going, I support this. No, no, don't support it for anything. Unless it's like for sitting in a prison cell and facing the walls for the rest of his life. And I support. Yeah. So far, that's a big bag of rats, right? So Elon did some fake poll. It's like, oh, the people have spoken. He's back on and Trump's like, I'm not going back and I had my Jude social. You can't legally. Big bag of rats. Yeah. So for now. Early on that, before we let anybody on, we're going to have to look at it. We're going to have to, you know, they were going to have a group, get together and talk about it. No, no, he just let the bots decide. Yeah, no, exactly. AOC said, I don't know, man. Last time he was here this platform was used to incite an insurrection multiple people died. The vice president of the United States was nearly assassinated and hundreds were injured, but I guess that's not enough for you to answer the question. Twitter poll it is. I mean, you know, and the Kanye's back on and he just tweeted shalom with a smiley face. So that means ignore the antisemitism. Right. Yes, and apparently he's decorated his house for a Hanukkah. So speaking for the Jews, I just like to say do you speak for the Jews? You know what? Whenever I feel like it, you know, I'm kind of dewy. I'm up. For everybody else. I think that should be my mom was Jewish. I was raised Jewish. I officially should be your tagline, the rude pundit. Kind of dewy. Yeah, you said funny. What does my Hollywood money? Exactly. We asked George Charles directly for money when he came on this show when he said no. No. Yeah. Seems like you get credit for giving me a lot of money already. You might as well. You actually said funny, I thought of woke mob was supposed to kill Twitter and cancel culture, but it was capitalism and stupidity all along. I don't think I've ever seen anyone other than Donald Trump blow up a business this fast, right? Yeah. Yeah. No, no, it's really kind of a thing of beauty. And I mean, you know, I like Twitter a lot. He will start whether it's true social or they will be able to Jack Smith willing to use those because they always can. As evidence, right? Yeah. Kathleen Madigan on Why People Have a Personal Connection to Trump

"That's an interesting sociological thing 'cause you play all over the country. What is it? Do you think? What is the personal connection to Donald Trump? I don't know. I don't know why, like one lady in Florida. She was kind of a drunk grandma. You stood up in a balcony and a theater somewhere on the gulf side of Florida and said, Kathleen, I love you and I love Sarah Palin. Don't make fun of her. I had not said a word except Sarah Palin, comma. Now if the lady would have listened, my joke was really about the gist of it is there's no people in Alaska to have more respect for you if you were the game warden than I would if you said you were the governor because there's a lot. It's a lot more dangerous if you're okay. It's a stupid joke. It's silly innocuous. But that lady was so upset because she like, I don't know. I'm like, you can't love me and her. And you're at my show, so I'd pick me if I were you. Which one is it? I don't know what the Trump thing you could do any other Republican, any other Democrat and people do not lose their minds. There's something about I know this is going to sound snotty coastal liberal elite, but an education problem where they're just like, oh, I want people that sound dumb, like me. I just can't. I don't understand what the connection is. I it could go back to the, you know, George Bush, people are like, I'd like to have a beer with him. Right. Well, right. You might want to have a beer with me, but I shouldn't be running anything. I mean, just because I seem fun, which I am. You are that doesn't mean I'm qualified to work at NASA. I don't understand that leap. When people say, I think George Bush seemed fun too. The younger one to have a beer with after golf with a country club. I get it. Right. But what is that next level where I defend him like I would, my brother. It's weird.

And yet there is something sad and hilarious, but also kind of terrifying about him declaring for president again. How did you feel about that whole thing? Well, let me put in the context of my Missouri and Tennessee, my friends that are Trump fans. Oh my God. They've all moved on. Yeah. They moved on to desantis. They moved on to Ron, because they think that he's like more presentable. I would say, which I don't disagree with. I think if we're going to say is which person is crazy, we're going to go with Donald, like which person you may disagree with everything Ron DeSantis says, but he doesn't seem like a lunatic. Yeah. It just seems like he seems like somebody you could sit down with and say, hey, a, B, and C and you're going to get DE and F back. Instead of Trump going, I don't care. I don't know. You tell me you're an idiot. I think they seem to be happy. I don't even think he really cares. I think he's just going to go over. I really seriously no kidding. I think at this point it's about merch. Yeah. He's become he's become a road comic. That's why now it's maga, because now they have to buy a new hat, right? Make America great and glorious, again. Well, glorious. I go, oh, that's going to be hard. That was going to be a lot of misspellings. I feel like a struggle. A lot of rally starts to say glare is. Yeah, I think it wants to do the rallies to raise money and sell merch. Yeah. Well, Travis and I have a dream that we could get the trifecta. He will be indicted in prison and run third party. So there are still, you know. Possibilities. We can have it all. Yeah. Yeah. You guys are very, very hopeful, I see. Yeah. I don't I've lost faith in the, I know the wheels of justice move slowly, but I don't understand how you can orchestrate and then say ready set go to attack on the capitol and then you get to run again. Right. That's why people lose faith in all this. There doesn't seem to be repercussions. Maybe there will be, like, my dad was a lawyer to judge at all that. He goes, give it time. I'm like, you'll be dead, Dan. How much time are we talking about?

John Fugelsang's Terrifying Trump Presidential Campaign Theory

"Have a terrifying theory. It's not really funny. What if Trump is doing this, knowing that a candidacy won't keep him safe from any kind of prosecution knowing he has no immunity as a mere candidate. But what if his overall game is to get as many delegates as he can, hold the entire GOP hostage, and before conceding and throwing his support to desantis, extracting a promise for a pardon? Could make a lot of sense. And that might be why he's doing that. Well, Travis and I have a dream because some listeners said, would you rather have an indicted Trump or third party run Trump, and we, big thinkers here, said, why can't we have both? Dream big. Indicted in prison and a third party run, it could happen. I do know he would run to prison. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And by the way, Ron DeSantis is never going to be more popular than he is now. I've been saying for a long time, Ron DeSantis is a greater threat to everything we care about in America than Donald Trump. Trump has done like disco, my Friends. It's just, he can still hurt people, but he can't appoint more judges. He's not going to be able to set more policy. So I think as awful as Ron DeSantis is, now begins the beautiful period of people listening to Ron DeSantis give speeches and say, is that it? That's their savior. He's a terrible speaker. He's a terrible debater. Yeah. Terrible human being. Terrible Christian. So, you know, he's really popular among the people who have been wrong about everything this entire century so far. So we actually the threat I've heard Trump will make is that they don't have a primary at all, right? Either they coronate him. Found him or he'll go third party, right? Yeah, the hilt demand they don't have a primary. Let him try. There will be Republicans who run against him. And by the way, those Republicans will still get votes, Trump's only leverages threatening third party. That's the only way he can really hurt Mitch McConnell, because at the end of the day, the Trump supporters are going to vote GOP no matter

June twenty twenty one and It's a combination of what he has been learning for his family business. That was started by his grandfather. And what he's learned in the biz this what. He's learned in the industry of manufacturing products in plastic and what he has been learning about making plastic composed able so it will break down be recyclable. Be reusable and not just be a glut on the planet and in doing that as visited a lot of places and we were just talking in the last segment about his visit to hawaii To the and the big island of hawaii and I was mentioning about the graffiti along the roadway when the men were building the road from the airport that leads along parallel to the ocean and on the right side it's just fields and fields of black lava laying there for however long and then on the left side is where all vow tells and those are lush green because the landscapers at the hotels have planted evidence of those trees shrubs bushes and flowers and The men wanted to in there. You know to break the boredom of building this endless road They would take white stones and do things like make a heart shape and put an you know. Mike loves lisa that kind of thing they would do. Their graffiti side of the road. Using white rocks on top of the black lava is very cool. But if you went to hilo national park you can actually stand in the same spots. Wear a report louis. Stevenson the author. Who lived in the hawaiian islands in the pacific for so long And a their iraq's be like boulders with with brass plaques engraved with quotations of their comments about what it was like standing there Which were lifted from literature that they wrote also there's one mark twain imagine in the eighteen hundreds which is when they would have been going Imagine a mark twain from his book I think it was from his book. Innocence abroad His commentary about standing in the spot and looking out at the crater. And you're looking at the same thing i mean. That's the ultimate in sustainability that you know you're looking at a scene that looks identical to a hundred two hundred three hundred or more years ago and so we have some obligation There is a whole sector of the travel industry devoted to sustainability and an organization called towards them cares that not only dives in by spearheading fundraising. When there's a soon nami or a hurricane or an earthquake in some touristic destination and just about every destination has something of touristic value so the always raising money to help at end. Send people You know people general managers of oh tells and people that work in the travel industry will take time off from their work and fly to a destination to pitch in you know after. Some colossal messes happened in that destination to help bring things back to normal. But we've got another situation here And that is that all of us have an opportunity to be able to participate in sustaining the earth. So we don't become one big garbage dump We've got about half a minute. Do you have some closing message. You'd like to share with our listeners would so Packaging is not going away. It's going to double in the next twenty years and by far the best the best thing to do is to reduce. I mean that is number one. You want to reduce and you wanna repurpose. If you actually do need a package you wanna look for something. That's bio based made from renewable energy. Sources you want to look for something that has recycled content. Or you want to look for something that may be close. At the end of end of life more recyclable of life so just want to choose the best packaging that really applies to everything closed. Everything we can under the umbrella and when you're going travelling bring along a shopping bag folded up in your role award so let you always have your own packaging to carry away your purchases and that you can reuse. Thank you so much for joining us today. All of you come back next week. This is stephanie. Abrams were flying.

I've been very focused on how to travel. I've been very focused on how to travel for a long time. Because i believe you need to travel richly and you have to travel a rude. I call intentional. Travel know what you want before you leave your house because too often people come back from trips and they say things like oh after we got there. We found out. They didn't have this in that. Which is really important to me or Whatever it was that i enjoy doing was too far away or we found about it on. We found out about on the last day. The trampoline never got to do this. We never got to do that knowing what you want from a trip. Which doesn't mean lining up from google. The top ten sites that somebody else thinks you ought to say but knowing what you want out of a trip before you go will eliminate coming back from the trip making remarks like we went but we miss this that we didn't see this new we found out about it. We were leaving town. We don't want that to happen to you. So that's on the intentional travel side. But there's another side that i call travel richly and that includes not going anywhere that you think you're gonna come back not so good that you want to go to places that you've done your due diligence to know you're going to come back if not the same. You're going to come back better somehow. You're going to feel at the end of your visit that you are leaving enriched enhanced inspired and uplifted and have just had experiences that have made you a better person going forward in your life and i've interviewed scott drinking the president. Ceo of visit dublin. Ohio you can visit them at visit. Dublin ohio dot com before. Because i was so intrigued with the idea that you could find a real irish experience in of all places ohio. A gorgeous state by the way. So if you're concerned about traveling still and with good reason follow all the rules. You know what they are. Take a road trip. Keep your distance where you mask. Have latex gloves available for when you do things. Like stop at the filling station to guess up your tank and keep hindi white kind of things sanitizers hand sanitizers hand joe but pay attention to social distancing and places to stay to minimize contact and there are so many places so many hoteliers who are going out of their way to make a whole check in check out system completely contact lists and so many hotels had contactless check out for gosh couple of decca probably three decades. Since the internet popular people could go on the tv in their room of their hotel and go to the hotel's closed circuit and using the keypad of the remote control. Check out never having to go to the front desk xpress checkout that's been around forever and now that they're hotels biking just as easy to check in without having to do a face to face with anybody but i'm interested in you know we've got saint patrick's day coming up any second and that's a place And a time of year dublin. Ohio the intersection of dublin. Ohio and saint patrick's day. I've never experienced. But i have to imagine it is something uniquely special and extraordinary and i'm wondering what has it been like in years from twenty nineteen earlier and what's happening this year. So let's turn it over to scott dring who's on the line with us live from dublin. Ohio what is a normal year. Saint patrick celebration like in dublin. Ohio scotland it's a bash. It is a huge party and You know we have a one of the largest tugs day trades on as you can imagine young town the saturday You remember at the four. Santa stay as well Streets are closed. It's a festival atmosphere. We have lots of restaurants and bars specialist going on the whole the whole weekend so it. It's it's say it's a great time the here and You know it's kind of ironic that you you're going to your your protocols everything this time last year That saint tash occc weaken the wednesday before. A parade is when Everything can hit and we cancelled the parade two days before it was supposed to happen. So you know it's it's definitely been a unique year. I'm worked side of this year that we thought there's no way would not have to saint patrick's day parades in a row. So we're doing some rural unique We are doing reverse parade so we have a huge park urines. How where we're gonna have the floats and every the band's they'll be stationary and then people will be in their cars. Were drive around themselves. They'll be the ones going enjoying the parade themselves while the praise kind of stationary We can stole the idea from mardi gras. If you if you saw their success down there would be day. The decorate all the.

"Dublin ohio and aimed it. I do the shields john shields. What was his name. So was the shields family that actually did it. So yeah anuradha though hausa one of those hidden gems And our country that i worked for the state tourism office years and years ago and i'd opportunity to kind of make promotes the whole state as a whole and There is so much travel and tourism product here in the state and so suld everyone immediately so close you know your what five hundred miles from sixty percent of the us taught so there's a lot of people close to The state of ohio as well. So it's a great state for sure right while at. What point did people in dublin. About what decade was it in or what year was when somebody says people come here expecting to really have an irish experience. Let's play it up. When did that happen. It was probably not the late seventies. And i think the thing that really have You know started at all what was festival so you know people are are sitting again back in our city was maybe ten fifteen thousand nine huge at all. You know like okay. Let's do some kind of festival and attract people and for central ohio and across country said create the detonators festival. You know forty five forty seven years ago and That's what really started at all and today festival is the largest three day Irish festival in the united states is bigger than irish best. Where we're well. It's lucky three day festival. So i think that's three irish fest. Yeah it's milwaukee. They have a festivals every weekend all summer long and the ones that are ethnically themed are just called summer fest and the rest are like mexican fast arabic fast. Jewish fest greek fest italian and irish fest. And there's probably more than i can't even think of put. I guess technically that starts on thursday after late late like late. Thursday like thursday evening. There's a like a preview for a few hours. And but it's really friday saturday sunday and they generally get well. I haven't looked at it in ten years. But i'm gonna say they in that timeframe they we get hundred thirty five thousand people in the weekend furnish fast. So are you drying more than that. No ours is just one hundred thousand. Okay good you know. You're probably about the same size. If you extract. Maybe twenty thousand show up thirty thursday night you know then the but the pre preponderance com. It starts usually like four o'clock with a ribbon cutting fry friday afternoon run through friday evening and then all hell breaks loose for saturday and sunday and it's with fireworks so it's It's it's quite you know an event but but it said on the fairgrounds and it's beautiful because it's it fronts. Right on lake michigan your different. I mean you're in a place that you've made look like your in ireland. No yeah for sure. I mean that's getting in like she to your point that the community itself residents civilly gravitated accepted are having a lot of fun. Without giving another example we have three high schools In town and their nickname to the shamrocks the celtics in the irish three nicknames of our high schools all our fire hydrants green town just little examples like that. Decisions really embraced You know the excitement of the irish pubs and restaurants are cubs in town. We have we have a new downtown here that Historic district also new developments. That has a lot of restaurants quick break right back. Don't leave me talking about doubling people. Dublin ohio as part of our stay in play usa. Stephanie abrams here. "After the three digits of the year and whether it's one for bought between january and june or two for bought between july and december is one or two letters and those letters. Define what county the person who registered. The car was in so d is for dublin and g is for galway etc. So if you're driving in quirk with a car with a d. or g on it then the local garda the police know you've probably come more than five kilometers unless this is a resale of a car and the plate stays with the car. So if you're living in galway with a car from you got problems all the time. The french word for that at sorace. Oh you have service. All the time with the police stopping. If you have a rental car you picked up in dublin and you're driving and galway they're going to want to know what you doing in galway. So one of the things are doing to stop essential travel between besides catching you driving about and a good friend who lives in galway told me she was on her way to dublin to pick her daughter up and got stopped three times on the galway dublin. Road by the garda. They let her go each time. But what a nuisance so what they've done is they've instituted a fine if you go to an airport and you decided that you wanna go to lancero tei which is a very popular place in the canary islands and the blair islands and you know you've got all these wonderful places that you can go Where it's the weather's fabulous In spain spain portugal popular destinations for the irish to go in the winter. So you decide. And they've got all kinds of cheap rates and that's the cheapest way by the way to plan yourself a trip like that flight to dublin and then fly with ryanair from dublin to any of those islands and you can get airland packages that are cheap as dirt and good places but in any event her mark up higher here in the states if you go to the airport and you're going to fly from dublin or cork galway or shannon because all of those airports fly to local destinations in your within europe When you get to the airport for your joy ride to the canary islands or somewhere You're gonna find out that you're gonna get fined five hundred euros because you're going on a holiday and that's non essential and you're gonna get find another five hundred euros when you come back so it's gonna cost you a thousand euros. More which american money is about twelve hundred dollars. Twelve hundred and fifty dollars. That's what it's gonna cost you because you're going to non trip because the government is really trying to control this terrible situation so i'm going to need to talk with you about some of the other things on my mind another time because we're going to the top of the hour news and more to come always we're flying. I welcome to travel with stephanie abrams. I've been diligently doing two things one focusing on stay in play usa. Partly because you don't have a choice. Nobody wants us who can blame them. and for the most part there are many places in the world. You don't wanna be. But i just checked this past week. And they update this list. Every fifteen minutes every day from johns hopkins university giving you the updates on from the worst hit destinations in the world as it relates the covid nineteen to you know in descending order and the number one more spice in the world right now is the united states so who can blame people for not wanting to come here or not wanting us to go and visit them but we gotta clean this up and people getting vaccinated will be. I really big start in the right direction but unlike those who particularly i wish you know if you know who that fellow was people Go to my facebook and become a friend stephanie. Abrams ninety four Let me know if you know. Who was that. Toll good-looking skinny i. Oh about three days before thanksgiving came out in a very government authoritative style and said do not travel. I i have no idea who he was. I caught the same clip a couple of different times. And they didn't have his name on the screen so i don't know who he was and you know what a big coward i you know. I won't go anywhere or do anything that i think. I won't come back the same better. So i'm really not a risk taker. When it comes to my life. But i didn't agree with him. He said do travel. I think that was the incorrect message. And the reason. I think it's the incorrect message is that i have spoken with destinations. Their tourism boards Ministries of tourism of various governments around the world individual hoteliers hotels. That are part of brands. That are part of chains that are part of organizations of hotels in the travel industry. Who are knocking themselves out to create barriers between their staff the last guest and the arriving guests and cleanliness protocols and deep cleansing protocols and contactless everything. So i think the message should have been do not travel in congested places. Do not put yourself in close proximity where you are sharing and exchanging air with other people. Stay.

"Well i first of all seventy unless you experience as we we really don't go out Pursuing clients the we are one hundred percents Referral company And so when when we were approached by different hotel or different destination management company Typically they already know who we are and we already know who they are and So in terms of a set of standards These things are are somewhat already in place. We obviously are looking for a luxury hotel. The thing that is some common the common thread amongst our collection is authenticity. Private ownership Not being part of a brand or a chain We liked worked directly with owners general managers. And we'd like to to have that relationship that's very very deep rooted seated so that when we are referring an agent Who wants to book their client at the hotel. We can ensure that those clients are going to arrive and get the best possible personalized experience that there is out there. Here's what i want you to explain for our audience. There are people listening. Who are saying. I know how to go online and i know how to put in what i'm looking for and where i wanna find it because that's where i'll be traveling in this region or in the city or in this province or in this town village and i could find this on my own. Why do i need to work with a travel advisor. And why do they need to come to you. And what's wrong with the travel advisor. They can't find this place on their own. You know That's great question. Our our job first of all for this side of the travel adviser is to provide them with the overall best products that they can sell and best places they can recommend to their clients and we do so through a number of ways and that is by one bringing them there To introducing them and and building that bridge with the owners and management team at the property in terms of people. You know shopping for their hotels online. It's very common right now. And i think a lot of people have done. It's without traveled visors and realize that not everything like in general online is is what you see is not always what you can believe not so cross with the internet. You say those words. Brad makes any giggle. Because truly it is brain surgery. Self-inflicted advisor can bring so many things to the table for you including you know added values but also just personal knowledge and you know they can make your arrival experience so much different your whole states so much different. Your room will be so much different because lee personalized towards who you are You know their algorithms really cannot do that now. And you know it's funny Hundred years ago After i left the realm of being what used to be called to travel agent for the were travel advisor came into play I then went to work for a A wholesaler But we were a wholesaler. We were tour operator. We were the ground service in a whole bunch of countries in europe and you may have run the company in in in europe it was known as via ecuador and we hired a four offices in italy and one in paris one in london and eighty six Spain every every city in spain had of the asset door office in the us. We got them to call the company v. e. tours because nobody could save walks ecuador and they felt. We sold south america. They didn't get it. We always sold was europe and i would have agents. This is long enough ago where this would have been in the early eighties where there were travel agents ready to sell their business and retire. Who had never worked with the wholesaler and they believed that they could do whatever they needed directly with hoteliers because they had developed relationships and this and that and i used to say to them. What else do you use. And they mentioned a country and the hotel. And whatever. And i'd say and what kind of rates are you getting. And then i tell them what are rate was because they would give them maybe twenty room nights a year and we would give them what in that one hotel if it was you know in popular location we might give them five thousand room nights a month so we got treated a little different. You know when you're sitting in that driver's seat the magic you can make that is an even thought about as a possibility by agents or the traveler has no idea and everybody's wonderful and everything is great when things are going right. What separates one from another from from the whole harm to the amazing is when things go wrong. I know who knows how to fly in with a magic wand and straighten it all out in seconds not after come home and you write a letter about how unhappy you are. Well you know. Maybe they'll compensate you with something for your next trip. Maybe if you're really telling the truth and you didn't make it up just to try to get a room and especially advantage for future which already people do is frightening. But you know you can't get the time back. You can't get a little little time as it is. Yeah no kidding. We're gonna take a quick break and come back. i'd love to have just sepe. And his charming accent. Giuseppi happy the palmer chime in and talk with us co owner partner in russia experiences. We'll be right back. Don't leave me be sure you've you. Because i don't know how we would have gotten groceries into our house so we rented in county antrim northern ireland while we got maroon there because we couldn't get a booking time slot at the local supermarket for delivery and once we went into that house. We weren't coming out except to go into the gorgeous garden and the beautiful walled courtyard and get in our rental car. And take a ride around and you know not interface with people but just enjoy the scenery and the historic places. And oh my gosh. As i said earlier. I wouldn't give away that five months for anything in the world. It was glorious. And i wouldn't feel the same way if either my husband or myself gotten sick. So managing to stay healthy is optimum. That's number one and zane kirby. The president and ceo of esta the american society of travel advisers and organization. That years ago when it was called the american side of travel agents Not only was. I an active member but i was active to the point of serving on Acts mo the ask. Every consortium in the travel industry they were all members and there were about twenty of us around the table that represented something like thirty thousand or more thirty. Five thousand travel agents Between us or travel agencies maybe it was a remarkable time not without its challenges and the travel industry has always reacted when there are economic challenges. Political challenges natural disasters man made disasters. illnesses hijackings and skyjackings. None of that was no. I mean it goes back to my earliest days in the travel industry we is. I described it a week or so ago. Being in the travel industry is like having labor pains there are moments of great joy followed by moments of seriously painful contractions and in spite of that if you talk to people who complain about the difficulties of being in the travel industry and you ask them so you're gonna leave. The answer is generally a swift. Hell no because it's in your blood and you're going nowhere and you understand it. And it's all about optimism thinking outside not just the box but the whole closet being creative persevering being mystic and being smart not just working hard working smart so what is it that the folks at asked are doing in conjunction with your membership to be smart on behalf of travelers and the travel industry and the.
