"If he was playing at an all NBA level and the nets decided, look, we like claxton a lot, we can't play them together. Let's try to get a dollar for dollar value back in return. That I could understand, but there isn't a market for it right now. I don't know where you would trade him that you would get anything of value back right now. It's just not, it's just not on the table at the moment. Where do you land on Joel embiid's suck at celebration? Are you pro against non plus? I mean, I feel the same way about that as I do like the critics of Steph Steph Curry getting ejected the other night for throwing his mouthpiece. The NBA lays it out pretty clear that Joel embiid, you're gonna get fined for doing that. Just like the Sam cassell model dance. You can't do that. You're gonna get dinged pretty significantly for that. Same thing with Steph Curry. What did I read? Steph Curry's three ejections have been related to you. At this point, we can call it goofy and he certainly wasn't throwing it at the referee, but the NBA officials, like they give seminars on this stuff, like they tell players, you know, pretty clear, you can't throw things into the crowd. Because, you know, what happens if it's not a mouthpiece and somebody gets hit, like, I'm not trying to be a wet blanket here, but it's like, you should know better. Stop doing that. Look, I was a DX fan growing up too. There we go. Let's do it. Of course. I know what he was doing, but he's gonna get dinged for that as well, because the NBA is not, will not look favorably on guys that are directing people to their crotch area during celebrations. I just want to say I love it. I love that he's willing to eat the fine. I think it's very funny. I also a big DX fan growing up. I'm glad someone's carrying on the legacy. We, again, I keep mentioning this every week. And I know that you're a loyal listener to the podcast, Chris, but we don't talk about the sixers enough, and we're not gonna get too deep into them. I think today, but they've had a crazy ten day stretch of West Coast trip. They got a bunch of big wins. They get this one against the nets. They're starting to look like the team we all thought they could be after the hard and trade. Do you think the, you know, the Celtics have Al Horford, who's probably, I think, the best defender of Joel embiid in the NBA, at least considering he's the best guy who can defend and beat and also not kill you offensively. Like it's very hard to find the players who you can put on and be that also are not just ruining your offense because you need bulk down. All over it is so good at defending embiid that the sixers gave him a four year deal not to defend embiid anymore. Right. But do you think do you think Boston, I don't think Boston is afraid of anyone, but who do you think Boston sees is maybe their biggest competition in the east? It probably Milwaukee still, you know, because the memory of last year's conference semifinals is still fresh, no Chris Middleton in that series. They still needed a miraculous Tatum performance in game 6 and a winning game 7 to advance. So they know how tough the bucks are. The box of the same team, if Middleton, who's now finally back on the floor, if he can stay there, they're probably the most formidable opponent. I mean, the sixers are tough, but to your point, the Celtics have Horford. They have Robert Williams. Luke cornett, who I constantly want to call Tyler zeller. They've got they've got some depth there. They're still in the lookout tube before the deadline for one more body. Presumably because of the big teams they're going to have to face in the postseason. So they could add somebody else to that mix. So when you look at the backcourt too, I mean, maxi hardened they're great, but the Celtics, they've got Marcus smart, they've got jaylen Brown. They've got Derek white. They have got defenders that they can throw at these guys. So I don't think Philadelphia makes them as nervous as maybe Milwaukee does because it was Milwaukee without Chris Middleton that had them on the brink of elimination on the road in game 6 and that is still something in their rents. Yeah, I know it's gonna be really interesting to see how Philly tries to guard a team like Boston in the playoffs with all the depth they have on the wing, especially if they play Brogdon Tatum Brown together. I think it's gonna be very difficult. For a team like Philly, let's get into the second big national game from last night. You alluded to this. The warriors and grizzlies man, they just played really entertaining games and somehow there's this discourse. Is it a rivalry? Is it not a rivalry? It's a rivalry. Okay, this team's clearly don't like each other. They get up for playing each other. That should be all it takes. We don't need to get into this, but the playoffs and blah blah blah, no, no, no. The teams don't like each other, the fans don't like each other. The games are very fun. Another really good one last night, Steph Curry as you alluded to getting ejected late so mad at Jordan Poole for taking an ill advised three pointer that he throws his mouth guard. I'm really encompassing the Jordan pool experience pool later hits the game winner on a nice back cut on ziya Williams with a two seconds to go really nice play by him the warriors get the win. This coming after they also beat Memphis on Christmas Day in Golden State that game obviously. Without Steph, you know, the grizzlies were really hot. I think they've now lost a couple in a row. They were really hot after that Christmas Day game. They finally had an extended stretch of good health here. You know, they rest guys here and there, whatever, but Jaron Jackson found out last night. He's been healthy. Bane is back, although I think still working his way into form a bit. There was a play last night late in the fourth. I don't know how you feel about Dylan Brooks. I generally really like him, even though he's just so chaotic, but John gets a double, kicks it out to Brooks. He takes a three that you really don't want him to take Golden State ends up winning this game by two. I'm curious if the playoffs started right now, the grizzlies would be the two seed. Would you pick the grizzlies in a playoff series over the warriors? No. And I think the worries are still a mess. And I think they need and we've talked about this on the crossover. I think they know they need another body. They've got to get somebody for that bench. You know, I'm all for the Jonathan kamina can solve all idea, but that feels a little too pie in the sky for me. So they need one more body there. But the grizzlies, look, last night kind of encapsulated. And even look, they lost on a miracle shot at the end. I'm not a miracle shot per se, but a last minute shot lost by two points. So it was close. But last night sort of highlighted some of their problems. The growth is the number one defensive team in the NBA. But they are middle of the pack at defending the three. And if you look at the numbers, the warriors shot what, 44% from three point range. They also don't shoot the three, particularly well. In this game, they shot 33%, 32% rather from three point range. They're also a team that, and I think the numbers still reflect this. I was looking up last week. They don't play in the half court very much. They're a transition team to get up and down. And look, that's great in the regular season, but you've got to be an efficient half core team in the playoffs to win the highest level. And the warriors know how to do that. The grizzlies have not proven they can do that yet. So I'm not trying to clown the grizzlies here, but they've got a couple of a couple of holes that I think need to be addressed. And I don't think you need to make a deal. Necessarily to address that, but you've got to clean some of that up. You've got to become a more efficient three point shooting team. You got to defend the three point shot better and you've got to prove you can be efficient in the half court. These are just kind of unknowns about Memphis. Against Golden State and everybody else, really. Because everybody kind of looks at that one number, defensive efficiency. Number one, the NBA. And that's great. Jaren Jackson, one of the best defensive players in this league, but more often than not, you either have to be a great three point shooting team or you got to defend the three pointer really well. And the growth has been kind of middle of the pack at that at both those

"Radio CBS Sports Network hoping everybody had a great weekend halfway to Monday show. A lot of football out of the chute will do some submits in the MBA here. Obviously started the MBA with the MBA to with the play in action pressure. Stefan Sparks, Steph, Steph Curry or LeBron Stefan, Step for LeBron has got a Is thick out there Milwaukee fans at that little angst. I mean, that's the thing about when you're when you're a fan of the team. There's different emotions when you kind of when you expect to win it Zig Alvin izing, but it's also you know, like that empty pit like man, if what if we don't bring her a game? Then there's the US against the world mentality on I'm kind of writing that high. Now the Knicks fan like Let's go just keep climbing. Why not? Why not keep going? And then there's the Nets, who are in a really unique space because just mention the Knicks before I mean, there has been more celebration over the next, garnering a top four home Court Eastern Conference advantage, then That the Nets and their and their true chase of a championship. I mean, it's It's amazing. It's like it's almost Polar opposite. I mean, every all the attention's on the Knicks, and here we are at the Nets with three of the 10 12 best players in the entire NBA. Maybe less than that, Um, you know, we'll see where this ride takes us in the energy is not necessarily there. In terms of coverage that I'm sure as a deepens and the Knicks get bounced. It will it will intensify. Bottom line is this. You know, you could tell me about Durant. You could tell me about James Harden, and they are I. It's funny, because if you said You know, I've done this pick the two Most important players on the team, if you based on the injuries if you had to take two of the players who had to take I've said I would take hard and Katie and I'm pretty sure you've said No. You said Kyrie. No. Neither one of us in Cairo. Okay, Okay, that hard and Katie. Oh, yes. Ryan Hollins. He said okay. You and I are on the same page with that, but It seems like a bit of a contradiction. Where As much as we would take the other two players over Kyrie. If Carrie's head is not snapped on properly, let's say winning anything, You know, It's a very interesting weekend for Carrie. It was an interesting weekend because of some of the things that, he said and We'll get to that in a second. But you know, it feels like Kyrie has been distant for a lot of this season, even though he's bald. We mention his many times throughout the regular season, especially when Katie was Injured or and or back and playing off the bench or when James Harden got hurt. It was basically just Kyrie and Joe Harris. It was like man. Kyrie is playing out of his mind this this season, but at the same time, it's felt like he's been Like this, this displaced from the team If that makes any sense now, part of this because he actually was, you know, for parts of the season early on when we took the hiatus, and he was gone for a little less than a week on Ben, he's had intermittent. I need to take a personal day here or there, and I think it's only been a couple of those, but but still, it feels like there's something disconnected. Going on with Kyrie Irving in the game with basketball and beyond is BT the comment he made yesterday was probably the first time I could like Pinpoint something that's distracting him and never. I mean, I've met him once, but I don't really know him but knowing him from afar, it kind of now makes sense why he's been so aloof with what's going on with this MBA season, and I think I think it's important to play the sound because it doesn't sound like a guy who's You know, excited to go to the playoffs and you know dowel into winning a championship with now his boys KD and James Harden, who got the got the trade from Houston. It doesn't sound like he's like, jazzed up to get this thing and get a ring for these guys. It doesn't And and that would that would worry me if of the Nets because I'm giving him 40 million reasons to be jazzed up. Yep. Now that we get it has not. His play has been No, it's been great, unaffected. I mean, it's been his best season in large part. So you know, not not. Maybe the last 15 years this let me see if this is his highest PTR of his career. I would venture that It's either one or two. Yeah, it's so not with Boston. No, he s O p r of his of his career this season this year twice is 24.4. So it's a second. It's a little bit. It probably did a little bit, but it's actually second or 30 actually hire PR last year, But I don't count that played in 20 games. Um so you have to go back to 20. Actually the Boston your BT it was born Itwas in 2018 2017 18. His PR was 25. Okay, You know it's been it's been, uh It's been a very unique ride with carrier every begins. You know when when he left the Celtics and remember, and I've said this a few times I remember listening to his introductory presser. Not not when you know not like what he was introduced to this, but The introduction press conference for camp with the Nets. His first camp, right and he said, Hey, I'm gonna shell Kevin Durant is not playing this year. I'm gonna be a leader. Um, you know, I've I've learned from my mistakes and Boston..

"A we clearly see a every four years or every year. We'll take a look at usa basketball. It only takes us a practice to what he's talked clicking again. A couple of games in august and golden if you will to start clicking again and start seeing back see where they match like. You stayed basketball. Players are going to play now. You have three of Not not having a mvp sees this year but these are three Former mvp's that all and the and they're truly one of the best players in the game when you listen to ten players in the game. Three of them actually played at the nets. So it's kind of when you is kind of a situation but yet they're going to be heavy or when you sit there and you look around the overall the overall conference wait. We'll speak now. You have a chance at charlotte. Charlotte is actually in a position to get into that play in position and probably be this seventh or eighth seat now if we look at them as act is just a team that they've clicking on a young team very aggressive play together being moved the ball at a fast pace and they more like a west coast team than any other Eastern conference seen as out there right now. So with that scene in matching up again stone. The a a against good philadelphia. It might not be the route that they wanted to take. Maybe take the loss tonight and not clenching that number one spot leaving it open for possibly brooklyn to take that number one spot. These young guys. These young guys the hornets half. I definitely think is going to push the pace against that does on three. Mvp's not stayed in philadelphia. Can't do that. But this is a game of matchups and with a game of matchup. Do you end up leaving steph curry. Not steph steph curry coming off the bench so go ahead. Matchup with kyrie irving. That's putting him in a bad position. Don't get me wrong steph. Curry is a great defender. So when he played against his brother causing four turnovers in the first two minutes of the game make in steph. Look like he wasn't going to be a be wasn't gonna be great that night but of course he forty nine. He was breathing at night. But neither say that's not the hinder there. I'm just dating in that. With the little adelphia seventy sixers going into the playoffs right now in that top seed. They should be a little bit work. Because this young team is looking for domino's and let's take a look hornets in my wanna. Really go ahead and and really take a look at it. In what position what position. They would have been in order for us to say that. Yeah they're gonna walk right into classrooms because they still have to winston and that's going to put them into that plane game now of course you know they have. They are rookie. Be nam lamelo ball doing his. Dang making it very much excited right now. So i i look at things on a whole i say that okay. Look at this playoff pitcher. Now where does Philadelphia fall if they have to go against the metal wall to eight events. Or what what. What do you think that first round. It's like upsets me salamis. I don't i don't think charlotte on miki player Talk thrilling gain love playing game. Right so we know how to play. It works seven versus eight numbers of chain so reception bursting a game by now. Looks like we're gonna be bought me. Charlotte nam bursts chain. Looks like it's going to be the pincers in women's have eight burson stabbed them. I'm a gear boston. The benefit of the doubt just on the strength of the fact on james brown is on now for a gear. So that's you got is absolutely huge. They're acting do you think about it. All it's record was better than boston before lamelo got her. I'm not saying that for muster huge. I'm not saying the but no yet even an email even charlotte wins the series against against against Boston right charlotte will have the sevens league. Not the ac. But if they lose to boston and walker on the seventeen chances are they're gonna pay washington and if brett and bradley. Bill is coming back for the playoff duff the team. I don't wanna see the peak team between washington in poorly to hall of fame players and bradley beal russell westbrook touch recipe. Second in westport or or the hornets knows young. I'm gonna go against about the gorgeous young. Because they don't like the balloon the playoffs for the first time in a of the william b and the the benjamins processors. They're going gonna be older. It's debra that young dog wrote in terms of what things those is all about in the second one is don't have anyone anyone on their locker that can naturally produced savings will be. He'd ever campaign against software. I mean he global is close to thirty five forty points and added gadget. No no talk team idea because they have no one over the saga sticks. Nine commuting of them know what i'm saying so he's a he's he's an athletic so he's kind of like the big man that's the guard so you know. Yeah well. I definitely hear what you're saying. So that scary holder. And let me make one frontal point we start we start putting on a long ball and boone is confidence and ben can utilize his moved in the way he sets up offerings. I think that's i think that's everything short of down in a during sentenced to the kid we can put bible on this kid who over teach bible is one of the better under the emas league as well but we can put in a long long ball something we can send ways. The looks like a ball to computer. Frustrate them rattled him. When he's talking about george hill. Mcfee matisse bible you talk about my big night been semaines bible terms of both a five minute legal skills. You know those player wanna give expensive tablets football and we talked about jovan be. Don't even obtain. I don't see how the athletic athletic sports a lake or a juice and yogurt. I can't think of a digital in other checking with memo from trump Those guys are not going to be the crash thing. Clark nuclear welcome room with so well beaten. In so adding our thanks charlotte hers teen perking up to to be the eighth seed the pay fixing however i think it meet a. They have between played boston in washington. Back back. I think those are two and it won't make make make the playoffs. The washington series of the scary but overall i think talent wise. I think it's more talented to negate these nolan on dc walker beckham penny with job you. That's.

"Fun begin. Here's Robin Lundberg. It is the Robin Lundberg Show here on CBS Sports Radio. Let's get into some on the court action in the MBA, and to do so I'm joined now by Mitch Laurence of Sirius, XM, NBA Radio and Mad Dog Sports Radio and Mitch. Let's start with, You Know, I guess you're talking NBA. It never hurts to start. With LeBron James, and he's the M V P favorite so far this year. I mean, I guess you just get to the point. It's kind of like with Tom Brady where you're almost numb. To the excellence and the standard that, he said. But how impressed are you by the level LeBron is playing at in the year 18. First of all. Good morning, Robin. Thanks for having me on. I don't think he's a favor. I think he's the right route right now. The runaway winner and he should be considering. Here's a guy who led the Lakers to a championship. Okay, it was in the bubble, but it still counts. Had a quick turn around. We all figured he's probably gonna take a bunch of games off. I remember when the season started. They played in the opening an idea with the ring ceremony. Then he knew they were gonna play on Christmas. I figured that 3rd 4th game he'd be taken off. Guy has answered the bell every game out. It's obvious he wants to win the M V p this year. And he's carried the Lakers and games. They haven't had Anthony Davis. He's made just so reliable and the thing I keep coming back to is your 18. Let's set aside. Yeah, he's 36, but he's in his 18th season. Nobody in history of the league in their 18th season was the best player on their own team. If you go back to Karim's years, and I watched Kareem and then when you know when he was finishing up with the Lakers, he was not the best player in his 18th 19th year with the Lakers. This guy's the best player in the league still So it's just an incredible means Having one of the more incredible years and to me, I you know whoever is going to be the you know the number two guy in the M V P. As long as things continue to play out the way they are, and LeBron dominant, he's not getting injured. It's gonna be a distant second, whether it's embiid or yoga teacher. Whoever LeBron is justifying, you know, Father time. It's incredible to watch. Are you a little bit miffed that he only has four MVPs at this point is to me should have at least six. I'm still mad. Shaquille O'Neal only has one You know, I'm not. You know, you're laughing. Kobe Bryant only had one. I mean, we're talking about some of the guys who are the all time greats, especially Shaquille. And you know when nothing against Steve Nash. Was, you know, M v p worthy, But how? How do we look back down? And how did the media and I voted for secure on the a lot? That's why I'm bringing it up. But that's to me the most egregious one. We said it's just amazing that the guy was so physically dominant as shack was only one won M v P and he should have been unanimous. That was the joke there. He wasn't unanimous, and he should have been When Fred Hickman CNN voted for that's a name from the past voted for Allen Iverson League. Try to get Fred to change his vote Not happening, but yeah, I mean, and then you know what you killed Did. He just took it out on whoever he was playing in the playoffs in the finals, and he won three straight M v P in the finals, so When I look back at LeBron will I feel? Yeah, I'll probably feel like you should have had more. There's no doubt about that. But start with Shaquille O'Neal. If you're looking for someone who got slighted by the media. Yeah, I mean, look, when you're an impact player of that level, it's It's hard to argue that you weren't the most valuable player in the league more than once. And for me, you know, I always say, like the default argument is, if LeBron's out there and healthy he's the most valuable guy. A couple exceptions, and they're obviously a couple years ago when he got hurt. And there's just like, historically special seasons. You know, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry Guys like that. Speaking of Yeah, yeah. Speaking of Steph Curry the season he's having this year. I mean, It's funny, cause he got this. I know this was mostly like Yahoo's online and the like, But there was this. Like, you know, Kenny carry a team sort of thing coming into the season. He's proven that pretty well, Steph Steph Curry, you know is that he's got to be the reason that the Warriors air above 500, right? Oh, yeah, There's no doubt It also helped that they got dream on green playing. I mean, here's a team if they beat the Nets late tonight, out there in San Francisco. They're only going to be three games over 500. That would be the first time all year they be 15 and 12. Um, They've had a chance five times this year to go three games over in their own five in those games. So, uh, in the last state, therefore, in four, but he's just been monster numbers. 35 points a game shooting 53% for threes. I mean, you saw the great He had the 57 points a week ago against Luca did everything he could shoot the warriors to the wind couldn't get it done. But you know, here's a guy. He's the only unanimous M v P in the history of the league, and that was well deserved when he made 400 Plus three back was five years ago. When Golden State one there 73. So Yeah, I mean, coming into the season, I thought No clay Thompson. Not there, And that's going to prevent them from probably going deep in the playoffs. Robin. But if you have Steph Curry and if you have dream on green and you have the pieces around him, and if you get some production from Wiseman James Wiseman, the rookie. I figured Golden State would make the playoffs. No doubt, and it starts with Steph Curry, who's still the greatest shooter that the game is seen in one of the great scorer. So you know Steve Kerr right now says he's playing the best he's ever played. I mean, that's pretty good, considering the guy. Was the unanimous M V P at one point, So it's great to see class act on and off the court, and it should be a great one tonight when Kevin Durant finally makes it back to Golden State. Robin Ledbury talking to Mitch Laurence. Serious..
