It's unfortunate Dan. I spent time with coach Vietnamese. He is smart. He's relatable. There's a reason players love playing for him, but the marketplace is basically told him like, we think Andy Reid deserves a credit, not you. And to his credit, looks like he's going to go off on his own and carve his own path. I heard you say this on the mothership, and I wanted to have you on so you could relay it to my audience about what you would do if you're running the jets and Aaron Rodgers is a possibility there that you got to entice him to give me at least two years and your thought process if you were the GM would be what?

But Shane steichen taking over the colts. Also, this was a topic I had when Jeff Saturday took over as the colts head coach. And he left ESPN. And we had Dan Orlovsky on. And I said, have you talked to Jeff Saturday about coaching with the colts? So that was probably two months ago. I just saw this headline. Dan orlowski discussed coaching jobs with the colts and the Panthers per a report. And I could see it happening. It feels like it's inevitable that Dan Orlovsky will eventually leave the mothership, but he did talk to Jeff Saturday about that possibility of maybe joining him in Indianapolis. Obviously, Saturday didn't get the job. And maybe Dan orlowski will have a job as a quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator down the road. All right, the parade today with the chiefs coming up, we're still waiting on Aaron Rodgers going dark. Zero dark 30. I don't know how many players that we know what they do in the off season. Like Aaron could have done this without us knowing it. As he said yesterday on McAfee show, hey, nobody knows what's going on with me. None of these insiders know. That's right, Laura, the head coaching cycle is now over as the Cardinals have tapped eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan gannon as their new head coach he gets a 5 year deal. Jonathan gannon with a rapid rise becoming a defensive coordinator, going to the Super Bowl and over the past two days going from the Super Bowl to becoming a head coach, the Cardinals, of course, now have a new GM and new head coach hired this off season and ganon's not the only eagles coach that Nick siren will have to replace as offensive coordinator Shane steichen is now the new Indianapolis Colts head coach he was introduced at a press conference earlier today, so the colt hire a former eagles offensive coordinator after the eagles two years ago hired a former colts offensive coordinator as their head coach steichen beats out a field that of course included the interim head coach Jeff Saturday to take over in Indianapolis alongside GM Chris Ballard and Derek Carr is a free agent. He can literally sign with somebody else by the end of this show Laura as the Raiders have submitted the paperwork to release Derek Carr and avoid incurring a $40.4 million guarantee for car who figures to be amongst the most coveted free agent veteran quarterbacks this off season. And again, he has a head start on the likes of Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo and any other quarterback whose contract is set to expire in the middle of March. Yeah, it's a really good point that you've brought up to us a couple of times. And listen, he might have been the most coveted of that group anyway, probably. But still, he gets that head start. It's also beneficial for whatever team picks him up. Thanks to field. Let's talk a little bit more about car. He may not be a league MVP, but the veteran QB has been a model of consistency in recent seasons. In fact, in each of the last four seasons, Carr has ranked within the top 15 in total QBR. Only two other quarterbacks can say that over that span. It's Patrick Mahomes and dak Prescott. So he's in good company and we know what Derek Carr brings to the table. Obviously Dan plenty of great fits for car in his skill set, right? But which team should realistically be having the conversation? All right, so first of all, guys, a top ten top 12 player at the position. He's a free agent that's rarity in the NFL outskirts of the MVP conversation over the last couple of seasons going back to 2018, 2019. I think 9 teams, but I want to group them, okay? Tell me if you guys agree with this. 9 teams, I think, need to be in the conversation or having this conversation with Derek Carr. Indie Houston, Washington, New Orleans, Tampa Bay in San Francisco are in one group. Having a conversation, are we a playoff team with him? Can we afford him? All right? The next group, the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and maybe Tennessee are where a playoff team with him. And we can afford them, okay? Here's my issue with Indian Houston. One, they should go young. Washington makes a lot of sense. But do they think he's the long-term answer? New Orleans Tampa Bay can't afford them. I don't think there's any chance that they could have a good football team with Derek Carr. San Francisco up in the air. Jetson Carolina, the two teams that I continue to go to and say, they are a playoff football team. Now Derek's going to be a free agent. So it's not just do they want Derek? Where's Derrick want to go? Derek, where do you want to go? Where's the best place for you to not only win, but advance your career? It's a no brainer to me. It's the one New York Jets two Carolina Panthers. Those are the two. RC before you go, let me just jump in here really fast. It's important to note that car himself said he didn't want to go to the saints, but it's because he didn't want to be traded there. Right. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to go there. He just wanted to get released so we could be a free agent so he would control all this conversation. Go ahead RC. No, and that's why I think the saints can still be a valuable option for a dairy car. And we talked about it on the set when he was visiting the saints that they'd have to make some cap room. It's guys like Michael Thomas may have to go and you have to rework some contracts and we've seen in New Orleans Saints do that in the past, but this defense has been championship caliber for years. You have a young receiver on the outside and crystallize. You have good tight ends. Obviously, Alvin Kamara in the backfield. I think that this is a spot where he could thrive in a spot where people support you outside of the organization when you do well, it does seem that Derek Carr has even been playing at an MVP MVP caliber, a guy that's doubted as the position as a leader. He proved two years ago that he can lead in any locker room. And I think he proved he's also proven that he's a great talent on the field. He will have his choice and have his pick, but he better pick right because I believe this is his last chance as a starter to lead a playoff team. Yeah, I think to your point RC in New Orleans, things are a little bit more stable. I was the P car Michael there, Dennis Allen, and you walking into knowing what your offensive coordinator situation like. The only reason that I fear the New Orleans Saints just being candid is because of Mike Williams. I don't know if he's going to be available. I know Mike and Michael Thomas Michael tell him, Michael Thomas, I know Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have put in work and I know God went ahead his ACL. But those guys seem like a more sure bit. If you want to push the ball downfield the Tampa Bay is starting over at the offensive coordinator spot as well. So Derek Carr might have some say in who that guy is at some point if he gets this done early enough. But it's to me you got a number one receiver Hall of Famer that's been on the field putting in work and you got one that you don't know if it's going to be available. And I understand what you're saying about Chris olave, but at this current moment, I'm going to take Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and try to build around that group than I would with the skill position group in New Orleans. I agree. I get where you guys are coming from, but here's my pushback on the New Orleans and Tampa Bay. They're both 55 million over the cats. So I don't subscribe. But here's my thing, fellow. And so I hear a knock and I think that it's maybe just the neighbor kids coming over to play with my kids, which happens all the time. And so my kids, they bust around the corner, they go to the front door, thinking that their friends are going to be there. And they see Walter Jones in a big gold jacket taking up both door frames. And I'm still sitting in the kitchen with my wife, and I hear the kids running back from the front door into the kitchen. Dad, there's a guy with a coat at the door. And then all of a sudden, my son, he's like jumping four feet in the air like a Mexican jumping bean. He goes, dad, we made it. And we made it. Because I was just so caught off guard in that moment. I was not expecting any announcement for at least another week. And so it took me a second, but then once I realized what happened, it was so awesome that, first of all, my idol Walter Jones, the guy kind of emulated my own game after was the guy that was at the door doing the knock. But for him to basically deliver the news to my son and then to be my son, be the one that delivers to me allows us to all share in that memory in that moment. And I think that just made it a special is it possible we could have been. Okay, are you leaving out a slight detail of what you were wearing? Or not wearing? Yeah, there were some details before the knock happened because my wife told me we were going to go out to dinner with the neighbors. Friday, I know, makes sense. And so I was just in my underwear, just around the house. But she knew at 4 o'clock the knock was going to happen. And so she's like, why don't you go upstairs and get ready? I'm like, well, we don't have to leave for dinner for like 30 minutes. It takes a man like 5 seconds to get ready. I can wait until another 20 or 30 minutes. She's like, just go upstairs and put your pants on. I'm like, jeez, lady. Back off. So I'm like, all right, fine, but you know, like any good husband, I figured I should probably go listen, so I went upstairs and I did put pants on at least for the official knock at the door. Okay, why are you in your underwear? All day. I mean, that's what you do when you're retired from the NFL, right? Why would you put clothes out if you don't have to? I like that she's trying to get you to put your pants on because she knows they're going to be a knock at the door and you're going to be there in your underwear where Walter Jones is there to tell you you're going into Hall of Fame. Yeah, that would have been very embarrassing for me, had anybody seen me in my underwear. That's awesome. Well, congratulations. Thank you. All right, a couple of things here. The condition of the field in the Super Bowl. Would you rather have grass or turf if you're playing? So I've always been a grass guy. Two reasons one, it's easier on your body, but also as an offensive lineman, we're the biggest slowest guys in the field. They always say we're the last bus stop on the roster. If you can't make it as alignment, your next step is going to coaching. Like, there's no place to go to if you get slower or less athletic after being on the offensive line. And so when you play on a little bit of a slick field, it usually favors the guys that are a little bit less athletic, not as quick because it kind of neutralizes some of that quickness in some of that speed. So personally, I like grass, I think it's better for the players and it's better for us slow guys, but certainly those receivers, those guys that rely on quick cuts, the rely on trying to create power like your pass rushers. Those guys hate it sometimes because they can't get to some of the technique that usually makes them the great players that they are with their quickness and their power. How important was that Kansas City offensive line? They were awesome. I mean, I kind of had a feeling that things were going to come down to line play, but I thought it was going to favor the eagles, right? I thought everybody looked at the chiefs and said, you know, their line is pretty good, but this eagles defensive line is so good top to bottom. And especially looking at Andrew Wiley at right tackle. That was a really a big mismatch going into this game with Hassan Reddick. But you got to give him a ton of credit because he played a fantastic game. One of his best games, especially after not playing all that well in the Super Bowl a
