"Can I answer off the off the board and there's no Steve I I don't care I don't care if it's okay to be fix everything I I look they've added a lot to you know the defense in free agency this year they they obviously got Stefon Diggs to handle their biggest need on offense a wide receiver I just wanted to get a really good player offense or defense if if it's a cornerback fine I'm good with the cornerback if they if they can get to a good edge rusher at fifty four may be higher in the second round fine if they drafted offensive lineman in the S. second round tomorrow night I'm good with that if they draft a wide receiver I don't care what position it is I think they really are in position to get the best player available there might feel the need down the road because their needs right now are not the press what do you think yeah I mean I'm totally gonna be okay with whoever they get because I know it fifty four they're gonna get somebody that there's gonna help the team and being a contributor it's not a starter you know I'm I I don't expect the guy to be a true Davis white type talent or guide it's automatically going to be plugged in right away but certainly the guy's going to be on the field for the Buffalo Bills this year he's gonna be talented enough to do that what no matter what side of the ball he is on so I to me I'm with you verify I'm just excited to see who is going to be and whether they move up to get a guy I just don't know there's for me at the anticipation I've gotten at that number at fifty four I know this I'm really excited about whoever it is and whether we talked about the guy or not I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those names that comes out of the blue I got who's active yeah hell even that will bother me I'll tell you what we're gonna do on this show and I think we should do it tomorrow tomorrow afternoon on the show I want you to get ready and you'll know after today's first round tonight's first round who's available but I want you didn't throw out a name maybe two of you and I'll do too as well Blair did you really want the bills to get in the second round tomorrow night okay not today today it's crazy we don't know who's going to be available I don't think the bills moving up to the first round and today I don't think it matters but tomorrow we will go up for that I'll give it a shot one of I've no I've never I've never been you know the draft Nick that a lot of guys are you know you know I got it right either I just have fun with it yeah right and that it's it would be interesting to see there's no question we'll see so yeah yeah I'll I'll do that not today because I don't think they're involved in the first round not today but tomorrow who do you think what side of the ball to the bills need to address.

"Writer over New York upstate glad you're able to join myself and Matt this morning for some bills top man yeah glad to be on they've been pretty active early in free agency yeah and I guess the the where I wanted to start with both you gentlemen was on the offense's side of things side of things in mad I'll start with you I think it's probably good to get this I don't wanna say get it out of the way now but it how are we not going to start this conversation without stop talking about the trade for Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs and and what I want to talk to both you about is the pressure whether it's a good or bad pressure for Josh on and I guess there's a lot of context you could take and either of those when you're talking about pressure on the quarterback position but basically Stefon Diggs takes away a lot of the excuses that we had for Josh Meister led the league in drop percentage we know that but with a legitimate bona fide wide receiver one what does that do for the time line of development of Josh on as it sped up is it the same is there no difference or is this a make or break year for third year quarterback it with the team with a very clear and obvious championship window and that would've been pretty crazy to say about two years ago this time at yeah and I think that what it does from my perspective is really puts the most pressure on Josh Allen is a D. passer because now you know you have John Brown who established himself is that short to intermediate you reach level number two wide receiver last year in my eyes and now you have arguably one of the best ball drafts in the league and Stefon Diggs and now you're deep ball threat but he's kind of a lot like John Brown in that he's well rounded his skill set is unbelievable I mean I was very familiar with them I I have about this obviously watched him over the course of the last five years but really taking a bit of a deep dive it's it it becomes very apparent very quickly as you watching the games how significantly better than almost every corner back he goes up against if his quickness his suddenness the way that he's able to explode off the line and get open right away I mean I think it's going to open up a completely different part of Brian gables offense of a game plan I mean he's going to be able to do things with Stefon Diggs there just wasn't that Allen on the roster last year if you look at the Houston playoff game is.

"The update from one bills live the bills have confirmed the trade they made Monday night for wide receivers Stefon Diggs they said this year's first round draft pick fifth and sixth round picks this year and a fourth rounder next year for gigs I got a seventh rounder in return as well Stefon Diggs coming off a year in which she had the eleven hundred thirty receiving yards a career high for him the year before two thousand eighteen you had one hundred two catches and nine touchdowns Stefon Diggs now officially a Buffalo Bills the bills read reportedly re signed one of their owners understood can free agent safety dean Marlowe reportedly has agreed to terms models member the bill since the end of the twenty seventeen season what on the practice squad in December last that season would go on to sign a futures reserve contract spent the first two seasons of his career with Sean McDermott on the Carolina Panthers last year nine games with the bills with two starts the Marlow reportedly coming back to the bills Tom Brady officially now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers new starting quarterback you spent twenty seasons with the New England Patriots he took to social media this morning to announce it signed this contract six years Super Bowl champion that Brady forty two years old forty one playoff start since two thousand one Todd Gurley the running back has agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Falcons the day after he was released by the rams Gurley agreed to the one year contract the deal will not be finalized until he passes a physical he'll join former rams teammate Dante Fowler in Atlanta the star pass rusher agreed to a three year forty eight million dollar contract with the falcons earlier this week Melvin Gordon the Chargers reportedly is ready to sign with the Denver Broncos no confirmation yet but that's a report six months after elbow surgery on his throwing arm Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he has no doubts he'll be able to come back and play well next season he's trying to return from the elbow injury that ended his season in week two and the Dallas Cowboys late last night I got a deal done with the merry at a remote and ha ha Clinton Dix the veteran safety the contract for one year worth four million dollars two and a half million dollars fully guaranteed and that is is the update from one bills drive John Murphy and Steve Tasker we'd get set for our number two of one bills live in joining us on the line is our usual Friday guest we're happy to have him as well John Murphy and homes deep gashes on one on the line but this is Greg Cosell NFL films senior producer co host of NFL matchup on ESPN Greg how are you everything everything hold up down there in the suburban Philadelphia these days Murph we're doing the best we can so far so good you know uncertain times we live in right now so we just tried I guess look for normalcy yep one of the things that's been hovering around the NFL over the past day and a half obviously Todd Gurley getting getting released and picked up immediately by the Atlanta Falcons Melvin Gordon's name has been floating around our show all day it looks as though the maybe has been started to be reported that he's talking and and in serious talks with the Denver Broncos what kind of backed is Melvin Gordon at this point I know he's going to the Pro Bowl twice but he's you know been in our line up a little bit in San Diego what can you tell us about the kind of player he is it's funny Steve because he came out of college he had a ton of long runs I think his last year at Wisconsin at something like fourteen or fifteen forty plus yard runs most of which were touchdowns I would imagine but in the NFL these kind of evolved into kind of a grinder he's been he's pretty good at it he's got good size he's a little up right but he's a grinder and that's really what he's become in the NFL so you know at this point his career given that he's a good receiver as well he probably ends up being a little more of a committee backed into true feature foundation back which he sort of was a little bit with the Chargers but never quite reached that level due to his his lack of durability yeah I won and Greg put your general manager had on for a while I know you're probably they have fits uncomfortably a little bit but if you're running the Buffalo Bills would you need or even how many would you want Melvin Gordon or similar a veteran kind of premier back with that background knowing that you got single Terry here seven single Terry I mean I think a back like that is a good fit because you're not asking that kind of back to be the number one guy if Melvin Gordon ward to be a bill on it sounds like you will not be but if you are he would not get two hundred two hundred fifty calories he'd be part of a committee with single Terry and in fact single Terry would probably be the number one guy there and maybe Melvin Gordon thinks that I don't know if he goes to Denver they do have available Lindsay so I don't know how they see their backfield but Gordon obviously felt that he was a preemie are back and that's why he held that out prior to the two thousand nineteen season and I think the reality of life kind of struck up a little bit so he's kind of stock yeah and this is as things progressed to the bills are not only stop at the running back position they they've also made one of the three major trades of the offseason you saw the Andre Hopkins go to the Arizona Cardinals and Stefon Diggs comes to buffalo we've been talking that that trade up the thing that makes it good for the bills is the amount of money they have to pay a four year deal with eleven or twelve million a year seems like a bargain when you look at Amari Cooper getting twenty million dollars a year from Dallas but what how good do you see Stefon Diggs al how good a player is it because really good and I think he's one of those guys that gives you he can attack all three levels of the defense and be really good in all three areas short intermediate vertical you know he's not a burner in the strict sense but he can get over the top of the defense he's a really good route runner Stephen you know you know what that's all about he's really has an understanding of how to set up corners and he uses vertical stem had he uses feints and leans and subtle moves and and you know we take that for granted we just assume all receivers are good route runners they're not and Stefon Diggs is a very nuanced detailed route runner and when you combine him now with John Brown and I assume Cole Beasley's back so you know you have a pretty good receiving corps and the guy would really look to take a step up and I can't speak to receptions is Dawson knocks you have no idea what number of receptions but you have a really talented athletic tight end so I think you have everything you're looking for now when you're receiving corps Greg the bills gave away a first rounder in some other pics to get Stefon Diggs it's I would think the price they paid in that regard first rounder and you know fifteen six this fourth rounder next year you know the assumption would have to be because we weren't involved in the negotiations Murphy is that that's what than what it had to be in order to get Stefan Diggs you know I know people probably look at the Andre Hopkins dealing go why would they give away too much but we're not involved in those negotiations so we don't know and digs is not old and he's really good and I I you know again you major team better if you're looking I don't know what they would have been looking for in the first round but I think the other thing to factor in is the other movies you make two and we'll talk about those in a sack I think they factor in as well because when you say they're giving up a first round pick then it comes down to what would they have used a first round pick for and and that's always debatable because you don't know but they they help themselves in some other areas as well in free agency well not only they help themselves in free agency they also had a chance to just sign up one of their own that was due to become a free agent in Quinton Spain yeah Quinn's fate has you know he's not the most athletic guard but he probably had his best years of pro last year did that surprise you yeah I thought that he sort of got declined a bit his last year year and a half in Tennessee because I was very familiar with them from watching Tennessee and yeah kind of surprised me I thought he came back and played well and they obviously felt the same thing and they want continuity you know the one thing you always like to have with your O. line if you can it's tougher in this year of football than ever before but you'd like to develop and keep some continuity and I think that factored in as well Steve we're going to go so he is the executive producer of NFL the match up on ESPN senior producer at NFL films those are kind of busy Greg I'll ask you about some of these moves and some of them are keeping their own steam engine quit in Spain what about yesterday's move to re sign Jordan Poyer and and just the the kind of base they have for their defense now that's a building block they have back there in the second reason I remember I think it was two years ago at the combine speaking with Leslie Frazier and we were talking about Hyde and Poyer and and how critical they are to the defense and the fact that they're interchangeable safeties they line up where they do based on the front and they they they can both play in the box they can both play deep they can they both have corner ability to cover because they both work quarters in college so you're dealing with two really versatile multi dimensional safeties and I think those guys to me and I'm sure the bills think that because they re signed Poyer I think those kinds of safeties have become so important in today's NFL one of the surprising things about this early part of free agencies of the bills signed a bunch of defenders had Degas was top three last year and they list Mostar they signed three guys up on the defensive line in in Mario Addison Vernon Butler and Quinton Jefferson tells a little bit about each one will start with Mario Addison three years Mario Addison is a long lanky edge pass rusher and that's the bills need that kind of player they do not really have an edge pass rusher and Addison has been very good in Carolina he's got some suddenness to him some explosiveness to him but he's long he's lanky he can bend the edge a little bit he's he's a good player not a star you know not to when you talk about the top four of five edge rushers in the league his name will come up he's a really solid player who fills an immediate void because they did not have that guy at all it's.

"It's Corey apple of Stefon Diggs finally speaking and not so cryptic this time he's been sending those those tweets for four months now and it was kind of playful and then it became you know when Kirk cousins signed a two year extension immediately once the news came out he did a a an emoji with the thinking mmhm so yes there was something there I think it was two fold for Stefon Diggs I think it was number one I don't you like the system I don't you like the run first system I don't think he wanted to block all the time you know you look at twenty eighteen you got a hundred and some passes not for a lot of yards but he got a hundred some passes last year got sixty years so and they were a lot of more deep shots and so you just didn't touch the ball as as much although his yardage was up but I think it has been like the system and any cap that with there's something there with Kirk cousins there was something there with Kirk cousins and the Vikings got an offer and no at I've heard this all the Vikings won the trade they got a first rounder now they win the trade yet with that first round pick you are hoping you are hoping no matter what the position is that if you hit it out of the park you get a player that's eighty percent of what Stefon Diggs was you know this isn't winning the trade but they ended up getting the best situation out of a really bad situation and I don't know why receivers outside of Adam Phelan B. C. Johnson had a had a year like he he was on the field and and existed he was he had okay for a rookie but he's not Stefon Diggs shares of Stefon Diggs just released this on Instagram saying school nation just know that I gave all my heart soul and body every time I stepped on the field your chance cheers and unyielding support was everything to me thank you the past five years are truly an amazing experience to say we made memories would be a huge understatement the state of Minnesota and the entire Vikings organization will always hold a special place in my heart because it is where my NFL story began the entire will family I'd like to thank you again for believing enough in me to draft me to my coaches and personnel staff thank you for everything I've learned so much from each of you about the game I love to my teammates my brothers thanks for the un ending support I always have your backs much love school nation and now Diggs is going from really a a an organization that is incredibly stable now and you know the one of the the best stadiums in the NFL the best training facilities in the NFL and he's going to Siberia in buffalo all right UP next we're stuck inside its quarantine day number three but we got your backs Brian Miller and I really seen the top three nineties movies to binge and then also the top three TV shows to binge that's next Hey Greg I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's heart attack thanks he's okay now but it really got me thinking about my family you know could my wife still pay our mortgage if I had a heart problem okay my kids to go to college that is really scary yeah.

Stefon Diggs appears to confirm trade to Bills

"With a big dumb trade with the Vikings yesterday the give of Stefon Diggs just in case you haven't heard engine you like to trade I do like to trade a lot we've bolstered our draft choices for the Vikings so they're going to have a twenty second pick and hopefully they can get some depth because I think death is a big priority for this team they've got some some really good starters at some really key positions but depth is a big key do we want the Oklahoma quarterback or the Alabama court I think he reminds me of teddy Bridgewater a bit that he could be that kind of a a possession type quarterback or he's not gonna lose the game for you but he might not win the game either we're gonna find out though Max he's taken this whole thing because Diggs of course had been if you saw some of Instagram's live all on Instagram he's very coy yeah I know he plays this little cat and mouse game it keeps everybody

"Stefon Diggs that biking receiving records which is hard to do when they used to have Randy moss and cris Carter and Jake reed former morning show producer these days he has the Vikings reporter for score north at A. M. fifteen hundred in Minnesota we have Matthew on this morning extensively discussing Stefon Diggs in this time of the Vikings if you missed it it is available in on demand audio WGR five fifty dot com or you can use the rewind function in our radio dot com app we advise you to well wait till after the show and then go back and listen to it at your leisure and we're getting your reaction to the digs news eight old three oh five fifty you know the exes the notes are are I mean we're you know he's a deep threat he's great route runner contested catches look at his production the impact on the offense on brown Beasley and then Jeremy tweeted out six minutes ago perhaps the them the number one reason one of the like these just gonna be a fun player to watch like we we want to talk about right bills and Sabres and entertainment value and getting really talented players I mean look at what it omits what was a disappointing hockey season we talked about how well this you get to watch Jack Eichel play every night you want players that are fun and really good at what they do and yes this guy will answer he runs the ball route tree and all these different things that you know everybody's talking about with us field Yates Matthew collar which is all good it's great but at the end of day to be like Hey can I have a look up like fun players talented players people well for touchdowns people get goals and like make things really exciting around here well there's a I got a tweet from Joseph was said about Diggs main problem is greed you can see if any other up seven points in a playoff game the swearing in everybody on the sideline I want the ball great receiver but two things on this one there is a video of digs screaming at people on the sidelines and yelling at cousins in one of those videos he's yelling play your game don't worry about throws all worry about throwing the ball to me because lay your game right and right you know I say this a lot before the bills get Stefon Diggs when I tell ya I want them to trade for Stefon Diggs is that I believe that molten much of my opinion you know per share opinions here well socially distancing here's where we come together so come on and share your opinions my opinion is on this and has been for a long time that is the most overblown malarkey you watch other pro sports leagues and if a guy is open and has a better chance to make a play then what the quarterback to sites then you have reason to be upset and somehow we've convinced ourselves that in football you can express that frustration you can't tell a player you missed it I mean you know I was go to the premier league on this but if you ever watch a premier league game and there's you know a push a counter attack the other way and a guy takes a shot and doesn't pass it to the other guy that is square in a better position I mean it is arms up arms down looking around the whole stadium what the bleep is wrong with you and guess what that never registers a blip because just like we have to try to win we're trying to score goals the guy didn't score this call maybe could have scored so like with Stefon Diggs if he's gonna be upset that he doesn't get the ball guess who else is going to be upset that he can get the ball meet these open we think we allow ourselves to yell at the television and call the post game show and say how do you miss that throw right but he's not supposed to like a guy that burns that that fiery I'm good with it you know I'm just I'm not gonna I I'm certainly happy that the bills are not afraid of that that I think is a major step in we probably knew that last year when they tried to get in Tonio brown who obviously is a little bit further yeah actually but he worked at his trade he world consistently one of the things about brownie all always said is that this guy is one of the hardest workers you'll ever see right he's just of course gone a little too far and there was also a funny tweet about what Matthew said there Matthew Coller about practice maybe don't line up digs against Josh Norman no okay so what did they have our noble judgment gets fire always funny because someone tweeted out I thought someone tweeted out a video of actually digs lined up against Norman in the game at one point but you're right I mean I look there's to me it's if you have that drive to be better and I I got it ties into wide receivers want the football but that the top guys believe their game breakers they'll get they'll help their team get wins and if they don't get the ball they get frustrated because they feel they were a really really big option and you need to get me the football I I don't worry about that we know our lets you watch all twenty two was going to say unless unless it's captured on CBS in a in a in a reply I'm gonna gas plays last year were John Brown and Cole Beasley all the top frustrated because there's only but it just didn't get on the ball Cole Beasley had several of those arms in the air right what are we doing right and I'm you know the difference is if it's behind closed doors you don't hear about it if it's not you know you you get to have well is that a problem is that an issue yeah anyway the other thing about digs I mean I just couldn't love this trade more for every just about every reason is he falls in the category of fun to watch here yeah if you watch Vikings games and by the way the Vikings you know they don't throw that much they they used to throw more I had feeling in dynasty for a couple years you talk about auto sure so I'd watch the Vikings a lot when we get a chance and Feelin and digs are both wonderful to watch so bills fans that just you know not only watch it to see if the bills win and see how things go but to really watch great players I mean Stefon Diggs is great to watch eight oh three over it we got a Tom Brady tweet this did we have a Tom Brady tweet this is from right now a patriot forever he writes to all my teammates coaches executives and staff coach bill ballot check R. K. K. in the Kraft family an organization I wanna say thank you for the past twenty years of my life and the daily commitment to winning in creating a winning culture building great values and great for all that you've taught me I've learned from everyone he also allowed me to maximize my potential and that is all player can ever hope for everything we have accomplished brings me great joy the lessons I've learned will carry on with me forever this is all past tense I couldn't be the man I am today without the relationships you allowed me to build with you I've benefited from all you have given me I cherish every opportunity I had to be a part of our team and love you all for that our team is always set a great standard and pro sports and I know it will continue to do just that although my football journey will take place elsewhere I appreciate everything we achieved and grateful for our incredible team accomplishments I've been privileged to have had the opportunity to know each and everyone of you and have the memories we've created together Brady is gone I'll leave okay this is one of those times of the FCC needs to look a little lenient on the obscenity role we should be allowed to drop the occasional he's gone farm break out being done the witch is dead wow hopefully I gotta be honest feeling happiness is kind of fun right now yes can I all this is this.

Source: Bills acquire Diggs from Vikes for 4 picks

"Some big moves NFL we're talking about and let's start with what happened last night in case you missed this no that was the Minneapolis miracle from a few years back last night the Vikings traded that wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills for not one not two not three but four draft picks including a first round selection this year that's according to reporting from foxsports dot com the bills also get a seventh round pick in the deal the street cannot be completed until the start of the new league year which is tomorrow but barring any setbacks it looks like dig stays with the Vikings are over we'll have always have the Minneapolis miracle though to look

"Traded for Stefon Diggs according Tom palace Cerro he reports the bills will send their first round pick a fifth the sixth and fourth next year the Vikings for digs and a seventh rounder digs in the second year of a five year contract back in February we spoke with Matthew Coller who now covers the Minnesota Vikings on the idea of a trade for Dixie on purposely put your money where your mouth is he absolutely does that and he was second best in the entire NFL adults catch this year when Adam Thielen went down for a significant amount of time it took you about six or seven weeks Sephardic stepped up and I thought he was hopeful worth reconsidering through the first half of the NFL and over a thousand dollars and if you look at completion percentage and throwing his way quarterback rating stories where he's been in the league receiver for a while now it doesn't quite get the attention they deserve digs a top tier wide receiver and you might hear every once in a while but he's got a bad attitude on the show before this one well we talked about that with math you want to clear a few things up on that as well walked around plays extremely hard and then people start grabbing clips of him on the sideline like yelling at people involved like yeah I know he's definitely the first player ever to get upset with his team is losing on the sideline even though Adams you would get the same thing at the end of two thousand eighteen don't call him in the farm belt senators said anything about him wanting out and yet with the five big does that that's a big problem I remembered the Superbowl time on Matthew was upset on the sideline I don't think anybody said all he must want to get treated for the chief of really competitive player who burns hot he played incredibly hard and he pushes people around him because he believes that this team is good enough to win the Superbowl and wants to see that maximize the talent fast forward to now he'll be joining the Buffalo Bills in this agreed upon trade Josh Allen gets his target digs in two thousand seventeen including the postseason is number one in the NFL according to pro football focus in contested catch rate number one ahead of Michael Thomas and Allen Robinson who round out the top three so Stefon Diggs the bill's not the only top tier receiver traded yesterday the Andre Hopkins sent off to Arizona in potentially one of the worst trades anyone seen the Texans send Hopkins to Arizona for David Johnson and draft picks which the highest one is a second rounder Hopkins has three years left on his deal which is a five year eighty one million dollar contract hundred four passes last year for seven touchdowns the Niners traded force Buckner colts for the thirteenth pick the trade completed after the Niners announced a deal to lock up defensive lineman Eric Armstead Titans franchise tag Derrick Henry the box would check Barrett the cowboys exclusive franchise tag dak Prescott the dolphins make Byron Jones the highest paid corner in the league the Steelers are holding on to but the pre franchise tag writers working on a contract with Marcus Mariota cowboys receiver Amari Cooper appear to be close on a deal agreed to five year one hundred million dollar package the falcons acquired tight end Hayden Hurst from the ravens in a deal bangles use their franchise tag on AJ green the patriots on left guard Joe Thuney NFL boring in person interviews and free agents with free agents requiring local physical examinations for them rather than team conducted exams the draft to be televised regardless of venue or format but will not be taking place in Las Vegas this year the derby is being postponed from may to September because of growing concern about the pandemic the courier journal of Louisville cited unidentified sources close the racing Churchill Downs will postponed to September the fifth first time in seventy five years the race will be run on the first Saturday in may a journey white WGR sports radio five fifty download the radio dot com app and tune in to news radio nine thirty W. Buffalo Bills acquire Diggs from Vikings for 4 picks

"Radio back to the NFL some big moves Monday as the talking began Tom Brady hasn't made a decision although some of the decisions may be impacting him meanwhile we know Amari Cooper will be staying with Dallas end the bills reportedly acquiring Stefon Diggs of the Vikings for four draft picks earlier on ESPN radio on Freddie inferred Simmons giving up a first fifth sixth for a guy who has been a massive headache in your locker room for the last two years and and during a you know a playoff game wild card game against the saints when I got but ends up winning the game right exactly Kirk cousins goes to Kyle Rudolph instead of digs no no I'm not some of the game winning touchdown time out at third or those of third down conversion and and they converted and digs goes off the field and throws his helmet into the bench do it you got a first down you about winning the game were just by yourself oh wait yeah we we we we know what you're about so I don't get giving up that much to get him outside from the public but from a kid a skill standpoint I do get it I knew they would take that better back to back thousand yard seasons I mean he is a remarkable talent my problem with Gallic Biggs is in the room because when he's not being targeted he's a pain in the rear end I wonder how much of this is the findings wanted out of Minnesota so badly that he was going to act like that now I'm not trying to explain it not condoning it all in but I wonder how much a whatever led to him wanting a break wanting a divorce in the Minnesota Vikings whatever that was it could be Adam Phelan and his emergence or you want to play a Kirk cousins wait a problem Mike Zimmer whatever it was the findings have enough for Minnesota and he did everything possible verbally invent action wise to make sure that they were not going to keep him even early today when Kirk cousins got his extension the findings was not have a leader was not even Catholic high thought he said I guess it's time to get out here tell me about the Minnesota he was determined to get out of whatever led to the break I don't know what it was but he got his wish now the findings you got what you want to handle it because if you don't people gonna say you had a good thing going to Minnesota where they were building my United Phelan and that wasn't good enough for you buffalo reportedly sending four picks to Minnesota a first a fifth or sixth in twenty twenty and a fourth rounder in twenty twenty one while also getting a seventh rounder back this spring from the Vikings Diggs is in the second year of a five year seventy two million

N. ninety seven five in Houston it's terrible there is no way to look at this got a messenger cook on a bad contract with David Johnson in what you got in return for an A. league wide receiver and I'll use the term elite very easily I think it should be used sparingly in this case it's accurate in a league wide receiver in deandre Hopkins your return price was a bad contract and a second round pick that's how you win this considering that a disgruntled Odell Beckham junior you got a first and a third in exchange for Odell Beckham junior from the Browns going back to the giants if you were dead set on trading deandre Hopkins which I believe the Texans work then you have got it has to start with a first round pick there is no is the answer but it's about this is bad a personnel moves as I've seen from a team and this is why head coach who can not be general managers there's just no understanding of value and team building right now from Houston Texas I think this movie really made it tougher to keep the shuttle Watson you can offer him forty million a year if you want you can make him the highest paid quarterback the fact is the longer it takes for him to get a quarterback deal done the more money he's going to make anyway and when it comes time to franchise and if that's what you do it's going to cost a thirty seven year old thirty six to thirty eight million dollars anyway he's gonna get paid for that year so if deshaun Watson believes that you don't have what it takes to build a winner where he can go compete I don't think you'll stick around and I think there's a real concern now you just made that job harder of keeping your Sean Watson because you also don't have a first round pick this year or first round pick next year so how are you going to build a team the cardinals get the Andre Hopkins David Johnson goes to the Texans and we will see what happens with the Shawn Watson in the in the coming weeks and months SportsCenter all night ESPN radio mention Amari Cooper he is staying in Dallas five years one hundred million dollar deal according to our Adam Schefter well basically we just got this deal and Wendy Amari Cooper intends to sign with the Dallas Cowboys re signed a five year hundred.

Bills to land WR Diggs in trade with Vikings

"The bills first I see first reported I think from Jay Glazer from NFL I'd fax the bills the Buffalo Bills required wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Vikings and you said Adam Schefter has more information as a shifter put out what the other parts the deal A. R. the bills are sending a first round pick a fifth round pick a sixth round pick and twenty twenty one fourth round pick for digs and a twenty twenty seventh round pick she thinks the Texans feel right now yeah that's a ton that's W. said I mean that's the whole that's the whole you're given up for de Andre Hopkins or at least what should have been writing up for de Andre Hopkins yeah he is no where Stefon Diggs being is nowhere near the caliber of receiver that the Andre Hopkins is now no he's not and that's amazing what a great move for the bills huh great move for the bills the Vikings get more and so so now the Vikings become well you you would think better he didn't want to play for the river last year with the injuries they had a tight end out wide receiver that also him not getting the ball and prodding and being upset that he didn't get the ball and now do you see the contract getting paid to Kirk cousins it

"Like a very simple one you bring somebody back next year and you make a strong play for Odell Beckham or Stefon Diggs you cannot run it back with Brady next year if the option is going to be Brady and the weapons that he had last year so if you are the patriots in your thinking short term and you think of it you can squeeze one more suitable out of this great experience but the AFC aside from the chiefs is wide open but let's make a run for it then you bring Brady back on a two year deal it's basically to one year deals and you can get out of it at the end of next season you buy yourself a little bit more time to kick the can you kick the problem down the road a little bit and then you go out and you trade for Odell Beckham that can help Brady in the next quarterback or you trade force the findings of thirty million dollars in cap space get some guys to restructure creates a more cap space and you go all in for next year you try to win the Superbowl the defense is ready do you approve the running game a little bit you approve the passing game and that gives you the best option but the option she can't be you if your Brady going to San Francisco if your New England and you lose out on Brady then you put yourself in a position you can go get Bridgewater you can go get a one year eight million dollar deal for Marcus Mariota and still improve the parts around you can make a move for Andy Dalton no it was not struck at the quarterback position especially given what they got from it last year they got a below average QB last year and Tom Brady you can improve at the position you can absolutely improve at the position you're listening to the Harrison experience live on CBS sports radio my name's Karen says if you want give me a follow on Twitter at C. dot here some people locked in right here the kids fifty eight he he he he also accepting boats motorcycles R..

"Leaned on Patrick. Mahomes all season long with a twenty four year old quarterback could crumble under the bright lights of Miami. He could Nikki. Could Doug. Doug we'll start with you you in or out on the chiefs winning Super Bowl fifty four if mahomes isn't the MVP. I still win. I mean they have tyreek Hill entirely kill is is arguably the fastest player in the history of the National Football League. I've had scouts tell me he was the fastest player they ever scouted. They went to Oklahoma state. Never seen speed like that and they've seen some speed come into stillwater stillwater. So they can look he t takes it end around or heaped brings a punt for a touchdown tyreek Hill could have one of those games is. Is it likely no but they can still win. They're going to need somebody offensively to have an other worldly performance in addition pat homes. I think to win this

Broncos Finalizing Deal to Make Pat Shurmur New Offensive Coordinator

"Well we just talk to my class are brokers insider who told us that the deal is done with that tactic Schirmer to be the new see for the Denver Broncos official press release from the team hopefully coming sometime before the end of the week big al with Schirmer being the new offense of coordinator what do you see as the pros and cons for this this young this young offense with the very young rookie quarterback is gonna be going into your to what I'm looking for are the things that that you can give a team and that's easy to roles and I always talk about this because I believe that that's the key to winning football games in this league how can you create an easy throw a one on one getting the guy wide open like we saw Devine to Adam's last night plan for the Packers you know the Packers go with the heavy formation they run a play that look like it's going to be a post but it then it turns into a corner is a seven right and then you look up and you say all my goodness the guy has a football it's one on one coverage he makes one guy miss and any out runs the coverage that's it easy to roll okay it's not fit the ball in the window it's not a drop back play act soon getting a guide you know own a seventeen yard dig route it's none of those things it's making the girls that the good players make to wide open guys but you have to design those plays for those guys to be wide open and the quarterback shouldn't be surprised when a wide open and when they're not wide open take the ball and run it that's what the good teams in the NFL do that's how you win football games in this business by getting your quarterback easy throws that you can feel good about and we didn't do that especially not against the Kansas City Chiefs are we rich gang real and I hate to see guys getting fired trust me it's it's not it's it's you know nobody wants to see that I wish there was a way that he could have stayed on and work with the quarterbacks something of that nature but maybe it's maybe it's too muddy if he's in Rome but you know it just we just have to have a change in and once again the greatest throws in the NFL aren't necessarily the ones that are forty M. fifty yards down the field like we saw this weekend but we also saw we also saw Patrick my homes we were out to the running back I think it was Williams out of the backfield on what looked like to be a six star pass it ended up being a seventeen yard touchdown the design of the play against the covers that was played was perfect and the guy had a free run to the end zone I mean those are the plays that you expect out of a great offensive coordinator and that's certainly what I'm looking forward Pat Shurmur who spent a lot of time with Andy Reid and Philadelphia I take it I think he was there for at least ten seasons with Andy Reid going from offense of line coach tidy and coats two quarterbacks coach so he understands the offense it's complete and of course in that Minnesota offense that's what we have to go last because that's where he was calling plays exclusively you look at that team and what they were able to do and the way that they brought on Adam Thielen out of no where to become a star well you know that he understands what kind of receipt what the receivers need to look like and not how they need to run there are so many different ways that we can look at this as be an improvement to be an improvement to what we had last year in part of it believe it or not Joe Joe is evaluating players for the upcoming draft that's a big big part of it because trust me there is a common formula to run in this offense and really make it work Stefon Diggs is the guy that blows the doors off of the defense is for the Minnesota Vikings before we and you look at back at Pat Shurmur when he was with Andy Reid it was the son Jackson now what is a in to read as he has he'll explosive wires see what to add to re kill who blows the doors off so I'm almost guaranteed you I'm almost guaranteeing you were going to find a guy that can blow the doors off of the defense in round one or two of this year's NFL draft that's how you make that all things work do you have a guy that can a workhorse guy who can catch the balls and make it happen that's called sudden but we need one of those guys that is scary says that blows the doors off the defense the evaluation process of what that guy looks like I trust Pat Shurmur more than I do John Elway to

Vikings' Stefon Diggs Addresses Trade Rumors Ahead of Giants Match-Up

"Have a an epidemic in the NFL Stefan digs now is letting it be known that because times are getting tough in the modern fell times get tough trade me. Get me out of here. I'm not happy be I don't need to play out to my contract. I will be sick. I will go home and then I will try to force your hand to trade me. He came back to the team. After missing a practice yesterday digs eggs and this isn't a season in which we know everything has gone badly right now going badly right now for Minnesota's offense very small sample size by the way but he is not getting targeted targeted the way he did lassie's not even close Stefan digs and on the same week that Adam Phelan called out the offense and the quarterback leading kirk cousins weirdly publicly apologizing to Adam feeling the other wide receiver then lets it be known that he wants Outta town so Minnesota has a lot of issues right now and it's kind of an interesting time for them to go face a giants team that despite back to back wins known is GonNa Confuse this defense with the eighty six giants Minnesota if they just figure out some type of game plan and finds a balance of their offense you would think they should be able to move the ball and if they don't and Danny dimes James and I don't think say quantum Barclays playing but apparently he is he is possible they says not practicing as of Thursday but apparently he's such a superman that it's he's getting close but even without Saquon Barkley at the Vikings find a way to to win this game and if they look bad doing it we might have a mutiny on our hands with the old Viking

Stefon Diggs on trade rumors: “There's truth to all rumors”

"But we will start in Minnesota we we stefan digs and his current situation the vikings white out missed practice for undisclosed reasons yesterday and it led to speculation about his future with the Vikings today today dig said he has not requested a trade but did admit there is true to all the reverse. He said that he's unsure. His agent has talked to the Vikings and what has transpired can't sit up here like everything is everything is okay his obviously not but but I can't say at this point it just trying to work. Do I feel like there's no matter how you sit up. I won't be saved speaking on that off off. Everybody's known to be rethinking the next one that team guy always predicting but for myself. I never made it just about me. I've never been that kind of so my resume persona kind of speaks for itself. I've never been to got to kind of be off. Be like me me me and wanting to have success. I WANNA have team. Success is always what I've been pushing them always without push so my language was stated saying whether I'm giving many opportunities not not not a lot. Have you asked for trade if you haven't communicated anything more so the conversation has been about teen and China had success food ah I haven't spoke to them you gotTa talk to play Sunday. hopefully then you play. I like football. I want to be part of I want to the apart play football on Sundays on CBS practice today you anticipate house and I feel a little bit better as to Yeah Courtney Cronin joins us now from Minnesota. She was there when dig spoke and Courtney. You heard him say. There's there's truth to all those rumors. What's your take a what exactly he met. Wendy he kept repeating that phrase multiple times throughout his media the reliability this morning and I think that that's him not completely closing the door that we're all he did say when I asked him straight out dicky requested trade you want lots traded and he said I had not communicated that and then obviously you have to follow up about his agent. You didn't fully close the door saying that no. I wanted to be your completely like that. Is there some uproot that there might be some validity what we've been hearing me Hainan seeing that this has been something that's been brewing probably for a little bit of time now so. I think what you were. Each phrase wants to continue to say it while he did say walk this year and he's been here for five years. He loves everything about teammates. I think he's questioned what you have to bring his question about whether he's feel value. He does have a role in the offense but it is minutes role than it was US last year and obviously you've been obsolete. I come in the steam because that kind of brings things to a head to where we're at right now. Wondering are we've seen the end of the era. Is this the beginning of something that we should be more concerned with or just going to blow over eventually because feel there's fire. I'm Greg it courtney. Thank you yeah I think in this case. It's fair to say there is some fire that smokes coming from Joe Joe. I'll ask you first of all about attentional trade market for digs if he were to move on well. I spoke to a team last night that I know would specifically definitely be interested in step on just because they expressly told me that and then last night I think an inquiry was made in they came back and said that they were told that Stefan was not going to be on the market and I see we're hearing during that today in terms of other people following up on the reporting what we do know about stuff on digs at here's a career worst three catches per game and five targets per game and and even though he's coming off a career-best production with over a thousand receiving yards and nine touchdowns his production in the two years prior to this season. It's still been under Adam Adam feeling and you know he's working with the new offensive coordinator and Kevin Stefanski and prior to that obviously was Pat Shurmur. WHO's the head coach of the giant so I think talk. You're looking at a receiver who feels like he can do more. You might even feel like he's the best receiver on the team and he's right. He is not a Mimi Guy in terms terms of how he portrays himself publicly. I've covered him a lot of times. I was there for the Minnesota miracle of so many of his games and by comparison you would definitely not put him out there but off in that sense but just listening to his words and the fact that he did leave the door open with certain things that he said he is letting you know that he is frustrated in that also think that that it fits within the era of athletes right now this season and last season being more vocal about their situations taking more control of where they feel like they can best flourish and I'm getting the hint although I have not talked to him directly or his agent that he's trying to let people know that he feels like everything is not completely kosher dill. It's funny you say that Joe Joe and I think Steve Young. You made the point two weeks ago with the genie sort of being out of the bottle I this is another example of a player. I think trying to sort take some control of a situation a situation that from his perspective is not working the way he'd like it to work yeah. I think it's a direct reflection on the quarterback play that that's been in Minnesota. Obviously his diminished role isn't because of injury or lack of talent. It's because the quarterback isn't getting everybody the ball right. Now I think last ask year when you see how everyone was involved in Adam dealing was getting the football step on digs with everyone was happy. Everyone was performing. Everyone was getting the ball. There were schematically. There were in situations where both of these guys were making big plays and that's what you're used to seeing from the Vikings and I think this year those players just aren't there and there's plays aren't there for those plays aren't necessarily there for Stefan digs for any of those past catches right now because of the quarterback play and I don't know if that's schematics. I don't know if that's simply the quarterback but I think he's unhappy with how he's being utilized and he's taking things into his own hands and to his credit. I've known for some time as well. He's never ever been me guy. He's never been so. This isn't necessarily about putting himself before the team I think at some point he has to look at his career and where he wants to go trajectory wise and make a decision and listening to talk. You almost felt like he had a little bit of emotion coming out when saying I'm a team guy and I'm not a me guy and I'm just trying to put the team. I listen as a football player. I know you can you've experienced this. We only have a certain amount of years and we only have a certain amount of time that we can go out there and play the game so you don't WanNa feel like that. You're wasting a season and I think that's why a lot of guys once they realize look. There's no chance for us to get to the playoffs this year. There's no chance that we're GONNA win in this division this year and teams on the flip side of that. I understand okay yeah. This season is pretty much over so let's try and get some value in some of these guys that are good football players and that's why we're seeing that more this year than maybe in years past. I thought the most interesting thing that he said Real quick when you're asking me if he was going to practice US I don't know I hope so. That's that was the less you know that he has expressed something to the team and he's maybe worried about how they reacted to. How that's what I'm thinking yeah I mean he he clearly was not one hundred percent sure you're next and Steve Young joins US now Steve. We have talked about this before given our conversations and I'm GONNA assume zoom. This doesn't surprise you that we're seeing another example of someone stepping up and saying this isn't working for me no players who are going to continue to demand what's going to be interesting. Is there is is there going to be a market and I think the Jalen Ramsey and if this situation does go forward and these guys are able to get to new teams I I think the ice will break because there are a number I mean everybody in the League has had moments star player now this star players that can do this because they're they're not. GonNa risk career other. You know non star players are not going to risk their careers to demand a trade this cut and so the star players going to say. I know there's a better place for me. I know there's a quarterback it'll throw me the ball and others office coordinator that will take care of me and that's going to continue to grow and I think this is a this is really the really important time Wendy right now awesome because of Jalen Ramsey doesn't get moved and digs does not get moved and the kind of kind of chill this whole thing and can stop it then this market will not not be kind of a burgeoning market but if they start to be able to be moved then everyone the legal realize I can make my way out of here and I wanna be somebody somewhere else and to the to the point just I it was victor. Rodman raw made it but the average career is three point two years in the NFL players are very aware of it. If I'm going to be great I'm going to be great right now. Well there's no question is a pivotal point in the league. We'll see digs by the way signed a five-year seventy two million dollars extension last year the thirteenth highest paid receiver currently in the

"S. Korea apple I locked they're gonna holes and highland things inside the. digs talking. opening up on why he missed practice yesterday. that about two minutes first cell. raise ace. I thank the eighties were tough out I thought the ETS would beat the rays I thought the ace would go on and and give Houston a series because their division rivals and they're just a weird out. the money ball a still there just a wee but they're out that's what happens in a one game wild card right anything can happen and the rays who have five fans in Tampa in those five fans are celebrating today they're excited because the rays are moving on they'll get to take on the Houston Astros now for twins fans were hoping that the rays upset the Astros because the twins when they when like six or seven from the race this year or they went all of them so my dad they want either all seven of the one six to seven something like that. so you know yeah six seven because they had their one loss Martine present a bad outing in they want every other game from there so you hope to direct and then you just take your business I know the twins they've they've lost thirteen straight playoff games ten of those to the Yankees Yankees knock them out no three oh four the ETS actually knocked them out no six Yankees knock them out no nine twin twenty ten twenty seventeen but there are a couple reasons why this team is different and why you should have hope in this year's team. I'm Jim to handle a nice job in the a star to be in today outlining that he said well look at this the twins finished with a lower ERA than the Yankees. and as he points out and we've mentioned it this morning with Parker Hagman the twins relievers much much better that twins bullpen the last two months it was a weakness for four months and in the last two months it's saved him well the starters are struggling. so the bullpen is really yeah has been a. a shining star for the for the twins so that's one reason number two. they are so good on the road this twins team whatever it is maybe like being away from home we're like staying in a hotel or something but they've got the best record road record in baseball fifty five and twenty six. no other team won more than forty eight road games in the twenty one fifty five games on the road they're not afraid. they're not afraid of the though that nineteen eighty seventeen that won the World Series was horrible on the road like a losing record on the road they were terrible is one every home game. the Homer hanky nobody could see the dome except for us is all white get the white roof you got the white Homer hanky is twins were in right good nobody could see except for the twins and they won all four games at home in that World Series won all four games in ninety one. okay now on a Stefon Diggs media meeting was Stefon Diggs he's at a he's meeting with the media this morning this just finished up what's on back here. let's try to figure out justified digs rumors going wild that he's asked for a trade he wants out of Minnesota is unhappy with the offense he can't stand Kirk cousins there's a lot going on here don't know those are rumors that's us standing on our jump to conclusion mad and figuring out okay let's jump to conclusions. so here's what Stefon Diggs is sane. I reported he wants to be traded there's truth to all rumors I won't be speaking on that. but in some good. Cordy Cronin from ESPN said I asked digs flat out whether he has requested a trade and he had said he has not. he followed up saying he was not aware whether is agent had either. more from the athletic defined dig said he hasn't been feeling well and said that's why he wasn't at practice Wednesday. but he did add I can't sit up here and act like everything is okay. so he's a. he's clearly upset but the Vikings passing offense is thirty first right now he's got a couple of things working here all right the the they've switched to a run scheme a runs run first scheme and then you had two games outdoors on grass against two divisional opponents where they just her cousins played. a shade above god awful and so that's that's a lot that's going on here and then also to they've gotten such early leads in those other home games but they haven't needed to pass you're just basically trying to get out of the game without getting anybody hurt you're just. so that's kind of a part of it all the Vikings are you there will there what I think they're they're dead last in in passing attempts because of those things because of the fact that two of the games then we would try to pass they needed to they've got defense of a they had a special teams they've had short fields they've been able to run the ball so effectively so it's like well. not going to you got a big leader not going to pastor to run up the score that's a part of it the other part is that. I get to sing figured out I mean he's he's got to get this thing figured he's apologizing to teammates teammates are upset with them there's just a there's a lot going on here. I don't think that digs is line I think there's partly he's he's probably not feeling her percent. I think there that he is he's clearly frustrated with the offense of scheme he's clearly frustrated with Kirk cousins he's clearly frustrated not being the focal point and not passing and he's frustrated to be into into now I would so I would argue. okay you're not alone for number one number two it's been an odd start to the season because of a couple of those wins in over three you control this you control this like you can go out there and help your team win don't fall is a couple times. it also to Alaska would add look at you don't have a ton of leverage here because you're a great player the Vikings feel they need you to win you're the second season of an extension that you signed to stay here. and you are a fifth round pick before that so you haven't so like your first round first overall pick where you've you've gotten a ton of money. your fifth round picks even make a ton of money and I've just signed that contract extension so not a ton of leverage I do think this is just a guy being extremely frustrated I've. it out make maybe there's more going on personally than we know or a or is willing to share. that that could be a part of it too. but a part of me is like you're due dates for games in like this is this is a process if you're this frustrated already. it's not it's not good we could be. and for the. they have a plan for a lot of franchises that don't have a great stadium to play in that have a head coach it as a sixty percent as one sixty percent of his games for five years they don't have a great practice facility at there's there's a lot going on here that are positives. all right up next. this team right I mean this Viking seems always eventful for them eventful offseason for the wild too it's not often you fired general manager on July thirtieth just fourteen months into his tenure but you know it's the while dead house is going to be for the wild this year our hockey guy GS Myers in.
