Let's get real about the fake crowd noise at NFL games

"Revisit the Rams and Seattle Seahawks game. I hated watching the Seahawks game because it was there are so many moments where the crowd fake crowd noise was really really loud above the broadcasters like Tom and all these trying to talk on the sidelines and you couldn't hear him cuz a stupid fake crowd noise, which is even weirder cuz you know that the people on the sidelines Jared Goff Russell Wilson, he came backed up. They don't hear fake crowd noise only people watching the game on T. Hear the fake crowd noise. I hate it so much. I'd rather honestly hear the noise of people on the sidelines. Or people at the line of scrimmage yelling. I was going crazy at one point on the sidelines. We couldn't hear the guy at all cuz of the fake crowd noise and I A friend of mine from high school plays for the LA Rams and I'm going to wait till he retires to ask him this question, but I want to have them on the Shelf someday to be like hey, what do you like to play a playoff game with an empty Stadium? I know the NFL doesn't really seem to answer that question just yet. There's a reason why you haven't heard anybody complaining about it, but I'm so desperate to know like what's it like to play in NFL game? I'll be damned meaningful playoff game a meaningful NFL game with nobody in the crowd and you can hear everything. It sounds like an empty gymnasium or an empty gym. Like I I want to hear what that sounds like and what what it's like to play in that circumstance and I just hated the fake crowd noise in the Seattle Seahawks Rams game

Stefon Diggs Is Buffalos Miracle Man

"The best season of his pro career right now. How good are things going in buffalo. I mean really good. Pablo like you said. I mean you know again this is. This is a team. Obviously that has a lot of scar tissue for a difficult times in the past and so the bills themselves are they won. The division for the first time in a couple of decades and digs is right at the center of their success. I'm always staying for buffalo trust and believe in me. I'm forever grateful personally. He is having the best season of his career. He's averaging i think twenty yards more per game step touched up. He's leading the league in receptions josh allen. Taking a deep shot the separation from dixon. He's and he's doing in so many different ways dick's just electric on the outside best received early. Nfl this season so he's been outstanding and the cherry on top came against the broncos digs broke the bills franchise record for receptions allen fires. This one is caught about step addict. Steph dick sets the club record with one hundred and one catches on the season. Congratulate is showing the bills and the whole nfl just how versatile a receiver he really is. You interviewed him for your cover story. Sam what was he like in person burg. I honestly i came into it. A little bit unsure what to expect when i sat down and started talking with digs though it became clear very quickly that he's an upbeat guy. A positive guy a guy who likes to laugh a guy smile. A guy who really enjoys fashion is a little bit eccentric at various points. We talked about the books. He's been reading. He really enjoyed the alchemist his a starbucks order which is apparently tavon green tea with a little bit of juice in it. Well so he loves the alchemist the book. He's apparently an alchemist. Like juice in your starbucks order really y- apparently he's really into it and i have to say as somebody who enjoys green tea and also enjoys apple juice. I had never thought put them together. But it's actually not bad. I want to rewind a bit sam. Talk about he got to where he is now. That trade in question which happened in march minnesota to buffalo. What was going on with digs in the vikings before that so let's go back a little bit right. He's drafted by the vikings in two thousand. Fifteen comes out of the university of maryland sort of work his way in take advantage of the opportunities and then the minneapolis miracle case on a deep drop. Step up in the pocket. He'll fire to the right side. Does it does that catch in. January of two thousand. Eighteen is arguably the greatest play in vikings history. And they've been around for over sixty years so that's pretty significant. You would think in that moment. Okay this is a play. That's going to define this guy's career and it's going to link him forever to this team. Damn bill says i. I got a Never stop working. Today was went all the work paid off and this is where i found his arc interesting within a year and a half or so. He's absolutely miserable. And even though you might have thought hey. This guy could spend his whole career with the vikings. After having this moment it became very clear that that wasn't going to be the case. So what went wrong in minnesota. Why was he so unhappy.

What Is Wrong With Cam Newton and the Patriots Offense?

"To ask a questions about Camp because I want to know what we're watching here and what I mean by that is this is somebody who was considered throughout his entire NFL career to be a top ten to twelve came back. He was never great from the pocket. He was never super accurate, but he was not a dumpster fire. So what's happening is is it he's just off falling off a cliff at age Thirty-One, which doesn't necessarily happen very often if at all at the quarterback position where a guy just you know goes from the top ten to twelve guy to just plummeting to literally one of the you know, 557 worst quarterbacks in the League this year. Is it physical with him Jay Glazer said before the game in Glazier usually has some really good information, you know, he kind of keeps a lot of the stuff in his pocket, but when he drop off stuff, it's usually dropping a bomb unless it's, you know, teasing 24 hours out and offensive lineman with covid-19 another story, but you know, you've got you've got Glazer coming out saying he's in an awful lot of pain. Is it is it that like what I just there needs to be a reason Greg there needs to be a reason why I saw a Cam Newton for eight to nine years in Carolina again not be supervised celebrated with a program and and not be you know, incredible breaking defenses down but still effective and now this guy is completely completely a mess. I'm just trying to make sense of it. Is it is it is it physical that he fall off a cliff is this what he is like are the Patriots not necessarily utilizing him in a manner like Carolina did which would make him more effective. I want to get to the bottom of it cuz I feel like what a lot of people are doing right now and it's it's listen. It's Justified criticize them all you want he's been bad, but I feel like we're more criticized in the result instead of asking why like what has gone wrong is this just the inevitable deterioration of a guy who took a lot of hits and is now what he is. I don't know what the answer is. Yeah. Well here's Answer it's a lot of little things that have sort of added up and gotten us to this point because I think you know really I mean really in the past month. He's been bad. In fact that you would say he was average or a little bit above average but I think on the whole this season, I would say Cam Newton is average number one. As far as factors would Newton and why he's not better why it's not working here. Number one for me is he's no longer. He doesn't have the legs. He used to have he is no longer. He's fine, He's still elusive, but he's an aging mobile quarterback and that doesn't really work and that's always been part of the equation with Cam going back to Auburn. Anyone Heisman Trophy you can teams had to respect his legs. They realized they no longer have to respect his legs because he's not going to just dominate a game with his legs anymore. He doesn't have that ability would be so instead of instead of being afraid of Cam in and being like we have to have eyes on cam and we have to do this and that they're know in playing Zone soft his own. They're no longer. They they realize they no longer have to do that. So, you know, they're just stacking the box and they'll play cover-3 on the outside or man-to-man or what-have-you. They they do whatever they want to do coverage wise cuz they know cams not going to beat them. I mean at most what's he going to get ten fifteen yards? Like he's not going to change the game. Number two is the Patriots just distinct lack of weapons and we'll talk about this anymore in a little bit. But I mean look the Patriots are goddamn horrible at everywhere other than running back and offensive line. I mean they are they're I mean, they're awful. They are awful. They're awful in this division there at the bottom of the Barrel in this division below the Jets below the Dolphins certainly below the bills. I mean, they're just it's falling off a cliff. I mean they have nothing they have no tight ends. They have no wide receivers. They they have running backs. Yeah. They have a great offensive line. Yeah, but it's only going to get you so place so so it's all on cam like when you when you take off If if Cam had better weapons if he was saved the bills, I mean if he had Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley and John Brown and like, you know Gabriel Davis and Dawson box and you know, all these guys all over the place where you can spread them out and they gotta be like, oh crap. Well, we got a double digs because what's going to happen like Then then cam might be able to do some things like between his legs and the lack of weapons. There's just the Patriots are just they're in a telephone booth. They can't they the quarterback can't do anything with the offense of coordinator can't do anything like to me you combine all those things. Plus there's probably some residuals shoulder stuff with Cam you combine all those things? Yeah, and you're right. It's it's not good in offense right

"Mccaffrey they're hearing. Is there? Kerry now the question is with more valuable? Now who's better and because the question is who is more valuable is the guy who had the individual success was the engine of their team and that translated into their team's success. And that's how I use the the materials to say that is Derrick Henry. Now I looked at our law breakdown of the numbers and we didn't talk about team success so much and obviously a team that goes to the AFC championship game on the back of their carry has an advantage over Christian McCaffrey. And they're five. Wins the Christian. Mccaffrey certainly did all he could. And he was amazing last year but they're cannery took it to another level whereas we didn't even have to fully respect what we were getting out of their passing. Game Ryan Tannehill and you still weren't able to slow down. Derek Harry so this is this a example of you. Take both of these guys resumes into the pawn shop last year and Chris. Mccaffrey is going to get you a lot back. But Derek here. We got you much more back in terms of what the team was looking for. So is there. Oh come all more sellers. No no no like the reason. It was so easy for Christian McCaffrey to get sixteen million is because he's in the company of legends. Is Gold Jacket Guy? When you look at it scrimmage yards in Very Sanders Russ in yours. The market sadness. I three years receiving yours the Marvin Harrison and more receptions than the Andrea Hopkins. The reason they were so quick to give out that money is because they can envision him standing on the steps of Ken and receiving a gold jacket for what he's accomplished. The Guy just win the thousand thousand club last year rushing and receiving yours. The reasons got his money is because he's a dominant player in the League and the Carolina Panthers certainly value and paying a guy yet is more than just a prototypical running back. Listen I think you make a great argument? I would disagree with it I really. I hate to play the fence here but I have to a little bit. It just depends on your style of offense and your team and your quarterback is who your head coach. Derek can reach playing for a Mike Gravel a defensive coach defensive-minded guy now Christian. Mccaffrey plane for Matt Rule. Because look what he did with Ron Rivera. Norv turner offense that was really trying to fix and trying to get the most out of Cam Newton now with Matt ruling this awhile earlier in the show. I compared this kind of like Dick for meal and Marshall. Faulk big meal and priest told now when you have offense minded head coach and you have a very versatile running back who can do all the Marshall. Faulk like things I think Christian. Mccaffrey will be just says valuable as their Henry. I can't just go to the one loss rare because I attribute their won loss record to the injuries Cam Newton and a defense that I don't think was as good as it. It needed to be. I can't put any of that on Christian McCaffrey. I think there's some equality here in the value of both if I had to flip a coin who's GonNa have a better two thousand and twenty season. I would probably lean toward Christian McCaffrey. But I think there's equal value here. I'm playing offense and I hate to do that. But but that's what I'm GONNA do Marcellus. I'm GONNA play defense. They're equal value but caffeine is going to have a better twenty twenty in my opinion man. You'RE GONNA rip your genes being on offense like. Let me tell you this if you look at if you look at what value is is price and work and look. We're not going to have a conversation about. Are they worth a lot to their teams? Yes one has a higher price tag than other go down. La But if you get Derrick Henry Eh. Cheaper calls to imprison McCaffrey. All of a sudden is value. Goes up because is price went down all topple all that. I'm not so certain that you're GONNA get more out of Christian. Mccaffrey hers the numbers. Because you got to remember. Everyone knows what's coming from both of these guys. But at least when you saw with Derrick Henry Knowles able to stop it this coming year with Christian. Mccaffrey is going to be the test to see if they can stop it. They got Teddy Bridgewater into building to take some of the pressure off him. But Darren can redid it last year and the transition of quarterbacks and when he really didn't have great quarterback play there was a takeout. Allen was playing adequate for Chris. Mccaffrey they look like they could make some noise. That quickly went south. So it's a lot more to prove what Christian McCaffrey doing. Twenty twenty versus dare carry was doing including the playoffs when we solve coming as still couldn't stop. He's unstoppable force arguably one of the best running backs and the national football league in terms of just being a blunt force trauma type producer. I'll ever hit marcellus where it hurts or when you were with the chargers you saw any towns in each and every week and Ladainian impact of the game not only as a runner but as a receiver from a defensive standpoint. It is hard to slow down someone like that. And when Jason Whitlock brings up freeze homes and Marshall Faulk. That's the that you have to Christian McCaffrey really. He's not a running back. He's a playmaker. He's an office of weapon. He so good catching the ball out of the backfield that you have to use nickel backs on them but he can run the ball against loaded boxes. They're a handful. The running backs in this league. Debtor these hybrid players that people falling in love with Christian. Mccaffrey got paid the next ones. That we'll see you get paid would be Amar Saquon Barkley right now. When you were running back you have to be able to do more. Christian. Mccaffrey just opened up the floodgates for running backs to start getting paid like they should be Bucky. Starting to win me over my sauce. I gotTA keep it real. What about where the NFL is about where the NFL is though? Because what I think. Derrick Henry is is an updated version of Jerome Bettis drawn. Marshall Faulk played at the same time Marshall Faulk was an MVP of the league at that time because of his versatility catching the ball out of the backfield running. Now put Marshall Faulk in this modern era and it's great dear camry is done but I think probably more sustainable Christian. Mccaffrey brings to the table in this modern. Nfl both of these. Got Teddy Bridgewater Ryan. Tannehill might be the same type people. What would what would be a better asset for Bridgewater Orion? Tanna hill a guy that can catch the ball out of back to make that kind of magic. Or is it a tank like Derrick? Henry I just think in this modern. Nfl Marcellus Web McCaffrey. Brings to the table. Is more sustainable. That's where the League is headed and is at right now. The the League headed the League already been near League. Did that before I.

Christian McCaffrey Marshall Faulk Marcellus Web McCaffrey League Derrick Henry Ryan Tannehill Derek Harry Derrick Henry Eh Derrick Henry Knowles NFL AFC Chris Teddy Bridgewater Teddy Bridgewater Ryan Derrick Cam Newton Kerry Marcellus Ron Rivera Marvin Harrison

"Now than he did at the Little Kid. According to this picture A. Let's get right. Let's get right to Marcellus and Andres Buffalo Bills. They made a big off season. Move Acquiring Stefan digs from the Minnesota Vikings Andrei get US rolling. Indeed think Stefan digs. We'll have a huge impact for your buffalo bills. Doubt about excuse me Brandon. Beane and Sean McDermott. Having tried to build his team around. Josh Allen. They there's no doubt about that you know bringing him in to the fold is going to be a big plus and then getting a ball downfield even more. I mean who do you double now? You Double Hamdia Double John Brown uncle. Beazley has the middle in. There does what I used to do. Kind of reminds me of Jim. Celli of passing to me James and Dombi. Maybe maybe quite not like that but It's a three headed monster. And they have really a lot of confidence in Devon singled. Terry being a running back and I think Tom Brady is out of the division now You know the bills are supposed to win initiator to go out and play so again. It's all about windows right pieces in a puzzle and I think on. Who's a proven veteran? He's in Minnesota is only going to boost. They're going to get their points for game. Up Offense is going to be revamped and I'm looking forward to no doubt. Yeah I mean on top of all the production that you mentioned in how. He's GonNa fit in and assist Josh Allen and his group I think that his mid his moxie his his swag is going to be well. Well received in this locker room and I could go back to a critical moment last year. We all saw it the meltdown in Houston interns of bells last waning minutes when they needed somebody who was a dog who just said either. I'm GONNA catch this ball or more importantly inspire you guys go out there and do your job to the fullest and that meltdown. The fact that Houston had that dog intern discharge Watson and others and Buffalo. Didn't seem to have that. I know they were green for that moment in terms of Josh Allen being a quarterback first time in the playoffs but that was a game they should have won if they would have someone with this type of Moxie. And I think they're GONNA get it. Let me ask both of your follow up. But I want to start with you. Andrei a wide receiver going from the Indoor Stadium in Minnesota to plane outdoors in Buffalo. Will that be an adjustment for Stefan digs somewhat of an adjustment? I mean these guys are professional. The talk about you know being that big couple years ago. He did it against a New Orleans. You can't catch against New Orleans. They just. It doesn't matter to me. I don't think the weather you just gotTa go out and play like he knows how to play and expect that in certain situations in a lot of situations this year. He's going to be the top guy and again open up a lot of things for everybody else. And I don't think you know receivers nowadays really. Don't think about the weather and I came from an indoor place or not Somewhat of a little bit of adjustment but I think he's going to be fine with that. That's going to be a big deal. Yeah it's always an adjustment no matter what the weather conditions are you play in warm weather you gotta be careful not to spend it all to earlier. You know you'll be fatigued for the latter part of the game if you call whether you gotta adjust in terms of getting yourself revved up in. Obviously there's the sting of catching the ball. And I think it's an easier task than the guy who has to throw the football but seems like Josh Allen has adjusted to that as well so no matter what conditions. You're an is never perfect. Always some type of adjustment to make and I think he's just GonNa make it and move forward. Both of you guys have seen a lot more of Josh Allen. I have I didn't spend last. You're watching a lot of buffalo bills game. I'm skeptical of Josh Allen. Tell me why. He's the right. Quarterback for Stefan digs a guy who can be a bit needy in class with Kirk cousins..

"Discussion. Won't be Mark Slater a former. Denver BRONCO WHO I believe played with Christian McCaffrey's dad in Denver and is known Chris since he was a child. But we will start with you. Marcellus well Christian. Mccaffrey live up to this record contract. Unfortunately he won't and it's no indictment on his abilities and how great he is and he knows about talk to him during the Super Bowl as recently as that. Tell them how great I think is. He's dynamic he'd firstly can do it all but I think what happens with record-setting contracts is that it sets and enormous amount of expectation on a player. They basically can't live up to big about what this contract suggest. It suggests that in a career year. Chris McCaffrey is now the highest. Pay running back ever but when you see that career year there's an expectation that you could actually duplicate those numbers and it's it's kind of observed for people to always expect someone to have career years and I'm not saying that he's tapped out in terms of potential. I'm just saying that. The production that he had last year didn't necessarily translate into ultimate team success so they may tinker with his production in terms of attempts in carries. Then you talk about the fact that this is a guy who's looking to go out there and really have a balancing neck that's going to be on Teddy Bridgewater in terms of production. I'm not completely sold at Teddy. Bridgewater will come in there and take enough pressure off the running game or allow Chris McCaffrey to go out there and have the same numbers in terms of reception so to many unknown for him to go out there and duplicate this amount of success so I would say no yeah I would I would go ahead and disagree with you Marcello. Sin and Chris McCaffrey. Such a unique character. Such a unique football player. And I think that's what sets him apart Number one he can eat can be powerful enough to run between the tackles tons of yards out there. He's dynamic fast up to get outside. The Tackles Hundred Sixteen Receptions. You know that would have led the league in nine of the last sixteen seasons and he took second in number of receptions only to that of Michael Thomas Oh he's a complete player. He's pleased professional. I say this all the time just because you play a pro sport. Does it make you professional? This guy is the ultimate professional from a diet standpoint exercise standpoint taking care of his body standpoint. He learned from his father. Eddie McCaffrey how to do that so he is. He's just one of those unique characters and conscientious. Is I think the thing that comes to mind more than anything else. When I think about Christian McCaffrey. He wanted to know how to become the first team. All Pro guy instead of second team all pro which was in twenty eighteen. He went to Ron Rivera. And say what do I have to improve on wrong viruses? You have to be better in pass protection so we went out and got tapes. A Darren sproles any looked at Darren sproles throughout the course of his career to see exactly how to attack linebackers on how to get. In the line of scrimmage how to take the fight to them so did he could be better and last year I think he played about ninety percent of the stats for the Carolina Panthers. So I don't see I. He's just a unique character. He does not seem to take. Squared up flushed hits. He always seems to be able to protect himself that way. I think the sky's the limit and I think he deserves to be. The highest paid running back and his production will continue to soar. I'M WANNA add to mark's argument with this barring injury I think myself he's GonNa live up to these expectations and live up to this contract. For this reason you have new ownership in Carolina and David tepper. You have a new head coach in Matt Rule and so this is their first big move. We're going to step out here. Make Christian McCaffrey. The highest paid running back in football. We are now moving on from Cam. Newton and the face of our franchise and the biggest decision. We've made is. We're going to build around Christian McCaffrey that type of investment from the hirose. That goes a long way. In determining success. They're going to provide him the offensive line. They're going to provide if they lead fall by whatever they need to do to make sure this guy lives up to the huge bet they placed on him. You'll see this in every walk of life an organization whether it be in the newspaper industry or whether it's in the car dealership industry or what they'll go out and make a higher and make big splash decision and come hell or high water. They're going to prove that they were right for making this decisions. I think for the reasons mark expressed about this guy's character. You know being a second generation. Nfl Player understanding the journey of the NFL. And just the investment the Carolina Panthers have taken in an era right now where everybody's saying don't overspend for running back running backs they just in some people's mind overspent for running back myself. I think they're going to do everything in their power to make sure Christian. Mccaffrey lives up to this contract. Because it's an all their best interests. Yes in their best interests and I totally agree with the sentiment that he's an amazing player. Mazing leader amazing person but these amazing numbers that justified. This contract are now going to increase the expectations and those numbers with the new reset. Expectations will be nearly impossible to go out there and account for this guy who had four hundred three touches last year. We're talking about two thousand. Three hundred ninety two scrimmage yards. And you're saying that he's going to be able to duplicate that one. Why would you even want to attempt to duplicate that? Because only lead to five wins. And you say we'll teddy bridgewater not cal alley. You're right who is teddy bridgewater and turns of taking the pressure off the run game eight nine ten and a box and I'm not trying to compare them impressiveness to other running backs. But there's a commonality the common denominator between the Zeke Elliott David Johnson high priced high prize running backs through all of a sudden find and is a little more difficult despite having this same approach and Save Ability. So when you look at the numbers. Even last year Chris McCaffrey. First Eight Games. They were five and three Christian. Mccaffrey had five games over. One hundred rushing yards in the next eight. They lose all a any only has one so when you're able to focus on him because he's the center of this office core piece if Teddy. Take that pressure off to receive a game. That'll take that pressure off. The numbers will decline. I don't even think it's about whether the numbers decline or not. They may decline to degree but he is such a weapon such a three down weapon and regardless where he is on the football field he can lineup outside the numbers that receiver in the slot. Receiver being carried out of the backfield between the tackles outside is such a versatile player that every time you line up as a defense the first thing you have to do when you break your defense model is fine. Twenty two where easy. And how are we going to deal with him? And that become such a valuable asset as you open this thing up. I don't know what Teddy Bridgewater is going to be either I don't think anybody does at this point but I do know Christian. Mccaffrey is and he is an offensive weapon. And those offense of weapons making haven't affected complementary effect on everybody on that Football Team. And that's why he's valued and that's why he's worth the money. I've seen marriages between a coach. Running back in an organization were beautifully. I saw with Dick for meal and priests tones in Kansas City. You could argue. We saw with dittmer meal and Marshall Faulk in Saint. Louis met rule a big part of this decision. Making the pay. This guy. He's going to make it work. I think this organization's all in on Christian McCaffrey. He's the Modern Day Marshall Faulk. He's headed into the peak the prime of his career the time to give him this money in the strike and live up to these expectations right now. This is the right jeod right investment. I think it's GonNa.

"It's going to spread the field in. Give him more room so when he wants to run. I think he ran for about five hundred yards last year. Submarine for over a thousand Oklahoma So I think this is going to give him more opportunities in the run game and as we've seen he's very good protecting himself once he gets into the open field. Look I made is is is one of those things where you're trying to build strength on strength and with Cliff Kingsbury offensive mine. A guy who showed that he could put together an NFL offense last year. Don't his first year as a head. Coach in the League calum. Murray you talked about Kenyan drake in his Gerald Christian Kirksey. Andre Hawkins. You now have an opportunity in this division where we can say the LA. Rams are coming back to the pack. We say the Seattle seahawks are always there but maybe the Arizona cardinals make some ground up on the Seattle seahawks and put themselves in a position. Where maybe they can't compete to be anonymous seven Tennessee team. If everything goes their way is just really interesting to see how that has been put together. Because if they get this offense rolling They could have one of the more explosive offenses not only division but in the NFC. What do you think about this from? The Vikings perspective was defined dates. And actually even more so the bills perspective of them making a run giving up a first round fit for Sunday's Likes to find the exact player I think he's a crafty route. Run One two best runners in the league. I can't understand why the Minnesota Vikings would want to move on from him. There were issues that you saw pop up on social media where he kinda voices his pleasure. He has a little bit of the wire. Receiver Personality Develop personality where a lot of high maintenance that you have to deal with navigate through and also. Let's be honest. Dj this draft is one where there are so many wide receivers. If you have a good feel for holiday evaluated pick receivers you can find a guy that can replace. Stefan digs production performance for the buffalo bills. This is a tricky one. I love upgrading. The wide receiver core. I think is important that they have the ability to get big plays in the passing game. I just wonder if Stefan digs is a good match for Josh Allen. We talked about building a basketball team and buffalo even building attracting. You got speedsters in the like but you have to make sure that your wide receivers can make up for Josh Allens deficiencies when it comes to his accuracy in his ball placement. I lost their findings. He's not a big receiver. So it just. I just want to get another big guy to do some of those things that they eventually need done when you have a quarterback Josh Allen at the hill. Yeah it's all point guards. Funded six footer coal. Beazley's not a big guy. John Brown not a big guy. So there's nobody really to play above the rim when you get down to the red zone specifically there as well so that to me was a little bit interesting but remember. I think people forget about remember. The buffalo bills had the trade for Antonio Brown before Antonio Brown pooh-poohed it So that was the type of player that they were looking to find. And I don't think Stefan digs is as talented as as Antonio Brown. But he's that type of receiver years until what they mean is remember. Brian Ball spent time with the New England patriots and a lot of the New England. Patriots stuff was catching run. Option routes get it out the quarterback's quickly and then let those playmakers have their way in the open field. We saw the buffalo bills. Colby's ahead a very solid season for the buffalo bills. And if you think about Rework in this offense where you won't Josh Allen to not only push the ball down the field off but they also have some of that quick screen quick `isolation route game some of that stuff to emptied out into formation out. Stefan digs in. Kobe would a headache to defend We just have to continue to see the development the maturation of quarterback to see if he can get his skill set to match the level of the playmakers that he has around him are. Let's get to what happened with the with the D. tackle situations specifically. What the forty niners they resign. Eric Armstead five years. Eighty five million dollar deal We thought okay. They're gonNA keep this whole group together. They're investing in that defensive line. And then the shocker came They ended up trading deforest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts for the thirteenth overall. Pick in buckner sends a new deal there over at twenty one million a year buck which puts him just behind the We talk about highest defensive tackles in the NFL so forty niners a team. That needs some draft picks. We talked about the fact that they were actually in a trade out of the THIRTY FIRST FIT. Just to get some picks. Now they have thirty first pick as well as the thirteenth pick and I actually Kinda liked this. Trade for both teams about you. Know is interesting. Because you know Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts like there is something to when we say in the acquisition business Knowing the proven player as opposed to guess behind West West behind door number. One door number two The one thing that the Indianapolis Colts no is tangible approved. A deforest. Buckner is a dominant player. We've seen him do it. We what system works for him. We have seen him play at a high level. International Football League Sometimes we become so a namen. Look you and I both come from. The Colorado is easy to become enamored with hoarding graphics. And being able to a let's make our picks and we're GONNA get them all right but we understand. The success rate is really really hard when it comes to lean on the draft and so I can appreciate Chris Ballot leaning into the trade market to get a blue chip players someone that he knows can dominate dominate for long time. But also can appreciate the San Francisco. Forty niners wanting to have more ammunition to up their team and this would not be discussed but I think is something does factor intuit I know force bug was a dominant player and for so long lash you we talked about the San Francisco Forty niners having Five number one picks on defensive line and I'm not saying that Solomon Thomas can go and do deforest. Buckner does are dead. They play the same position but I do believe that when they're looking at their roster and they're looking at how they've invested in their d. Line I do believe the Solomon Thomas Factor has to come in because somewhere in that room somebody feel like Solomon. Thomas was a high in blue-chip player. A just needs a chance. Maybe that is why they feel like they could move on from deforest buckner. Maybe find another replacement for him while maybe giving us Solomon Thomas One more opportunity to get on the field in some way shape before we talk so much about those five for round response. There's some good depth and some really good players behind that group too when you talk about. Dj Jones who's got some ability. It's really interesting player there and I'm looking at this draft in the wake out. Just if you look at the needs we're GONNA see a run on the offensive tackles early. We're GONNA see those quarterbacks go so is it crazy to think that in my opinion two of the seven or eight players in the draft our our Derrick Brown. Giovanni Ken Law. I don't think it's out of the possibility. One of those guys gets to them They're thirteen and now you're talking about be they'll replace somebody with a on a rookie deal five years with control and your defensive line knock escapee deaths Deal I think that's a good thing. Dj We talked about Part of building. The team is being able to have those conversations with your brain to fro in college departments together and you talk about the transit weaknesses of the free agent market in the draft and being able to accurately assess. Here's where the draft is strong. Here's where we're looking at. If we're at this pick what could be available and the name that I think about you. Talk About Brown. But I'm thinking John Kinloch could be sitting right there for them. We talked about a mock drafts at madrassa what they are. But we saw about Ken. Lobbying mocked to the Tampa Bay buccaneers. But we hadn't had scenarios where we saw him going before that when San Francisco for non you're sitting proposition to get a guy that can in essence do deforest buckner did and as you said do it on a cheap quick contract to be able to then take that money that you would spend on buckner and spread it around to other positions. Look I I think a smart thing is a smart play and I think is one of those situations where the San Francisco. Forty niners could have a couple of different positions that target. A IF KEN law isn't here let's turn our kids and again the big time wide receiver. You know There's just so many options for what forty niners need that are available. It makes sense to be able to have two bites at the apple in the first round are. Let's talk about a little bit what we've seen free agency in how it impacts the draft because it is it is something we're talking about here with the forty niners and what it does for them but I think it's it's fascinating when you look at the Miami Dolphins loading up. They go out and pay Byron Jones all that money they go out and get kyle. Van Noy They've been very very aggressive. Shack Lawson They brought in him So they've addressed a lot of spots of air flowers on the offensive line. This is not a team that's pointing towards tank for Trevor. In in twenty twenty one. This is a team. That's trying to win right now. Which to me. Points to the fact of any talk of them kicking the quarterback thing down the road is is this team. That's going to take a quarterback And makes a lot of sense with the fifth. Pick to do that and we've talked about it buck We you know. I did not rule out the fact that I'm taking her over to a and when you look at all the pieces in place to go try and be competitive right now. Maybe it's a situation where they say. Herbert we can plug them into the lineup. And let's get going right now Chris to you might be looking at a red shirt. I'm not saying that's what I would do. I know it's not what you do as well but that would not shock me now. I think it gives them options. It gives them options at the quarterback position to do what they WANNA do and do at how they want to do it. Whether it's two or Justin Herbert I think we need to understand it. Ryan Fitzpatrick played well enough for them to be. Very Competitive Ryan. Fitzpatrick also has a relationship with Chan Gailey and dependent upon how Chan Gailey Views Ryan Fitzpatrick as he ages gracefully position. Maybe it does give them a year or two to groom a quarterback to be the starter. But I absolutely like what the Miami Dolphins doing and actually I was. GonNa Pitch this out to you because we've talked about the old model of team building and how everything is about the past game and so we were ranking prioritize positions as a quarterback pass rusher left. Tackle cornerback the Miami. Dolphins went out and got barring Jones. Made him the highest paid cornerback. In football a year ago either year ago two years ago they signed Xavien Howard to a big time extent they have to high price corners on the edges doesn't appear that they have like a marquee pass rusher but we've seen the New England patriots in the past. The pages put their energies and efforts in coverage not pass rush..

"And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. What's up everybody? Dj Bucky here with move the sticks. It is a crazy crazy frenzy. Time Right now. Obviously in the world on on the on the importance scale when football. It's been it's been a while right over the last couple days. Bach and we have a lot of things. We're going to cover today as a recording. This Tom Brady is it's been announced. He's not going to be coming back to the New England patriots so we are going to do the podcast right now. Not Knowing we're top rates go. We're going to get this out to you where we cover a lot of different topics and then once the Brady decision comes down. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA produce another podcast just on where Brady goes what that means for his new team as well as winkle patriots where they go from there to be a brief podcast. But we'll do our best to get that out to you as soon as possible as well. But there's a lot to get to with what we already know around the League right now. The movie crazy stuff that transpired move in the league. I feel like it's just an ongoing Circus just like so many moves so many things happening guys going people using the trade vehicles to upgrade their teams and then finally getting word today of some guys on a trade block. Some guys that are assigned a free deals Has Been Bananas Last? Twenty four hours. Well let's start rolling through Some of these other move circus because we've got a bunch of stuff off to talk about here as we're talking. I mean deals. Just continue to come down one after another after another But why don't we jump in here? I bucket and talk about some of the quarterback stuff Just a little bit before. We started recording. Let's start with the CAM. Newton News That's going to be friendly ending there but it is definitely an ending yet. Dj I think ultimately like the team made a business decision to move on from Cam Newton. They have given him permission to seek out a trade This obviously means that when you look at the timing of it. They've been in. Negotiations obviously was some quarterback and they feel like they're close again the deal during which is why would then allow Cam Newton to shop services to other teams. I feel like this is something that we expected to happen when they say they can with come back. It was a bit of a surprise but now we come to know they were trying to protect themselves to make sure that they get the quarterback that they want before they move on from the long term starter. That really helped a franchise gives us problems. Yeah I mean. I'm just curious to see what his next move is I. I had a tough time coming up with teams buck that I think would be in on Cam Newton A saw a new one that was mentioned was the Washington redskins obviously familiar with Ron Rivera. with coach. Turner their offense coordinator. Who's got had a really good run to start twenty eighteen season so that I guess make some sense of the any of the teams. Stand out to you with him. I don't even know if that would really make sense because what you have. Is You gotta young starting quarterback into Wayne Haskins If you bring Cam in there if you any sense that Dwayne is going to be Your Guy. You only stunt his growth by having cam there and then and actually rally. What is Ron Rivera? Really think about Cam as a starting quarterback he is got Turner. They've embarked on this new mission in Washington. Do they see cam as being an upgrade or somewhere that they could come to build the franchise around as they're trying to change the culture there? When really survey the landscape easy? I don't see really good landing spot for Cam I know in the past. Chicago had been mentioned as a possible destination. But when you get outside of that without knowing his health status. I don't know how anyone could say that. A there's a starting job waiting for Cam Newton elsewhere because no one knows and I also don't know how many officer coordinators are take on their project to get back to playing at a pro bowl Yeah I mean I definitely think it's It's difficult to come up with the team. So we'll see what happens there with him as we're doing this in Buckeye man. I'm just kind of his scrolling through twitter reporting it looks like Teddy Bridgewater in the panthers are close on three year contracts. So that to me is is interesting fit. They're going to move on from Cam Newton and then tape bridgewater comes in there and I would not be shocked if they used their their first round. Pick number seven overall on a quarterback as well but to me. It's kind of a new start hearing and it looks like Teddy Bridgewater is going to be that guy so dj if you go back and you connect the dots There couple things impacted when you talk about the Panthers Teddy Bridgewater Obviously Joe. Brady's the new office coordinator Joe Brady spent time with the New Orleans saints as an offensive assistant basically and talking to people from the saints. They say that when you looked at. Lsu Offense Joe Brady was basically using a scaled down version of what the saints have done for years. Their base plays to really dominate. The college. Game Brady has been elevated to be an NFL office coordinator. WanNA REACH BACK TO NEW ORLEANS GIDDY. Bridgewater who knows not only the base level offense of what he can bring some of the new innovations in new variations. That they've Addison's job rated afford it to me. It makes sense the only thing that I worry about. If I'm teddy bridgewater is how long is my leash on the starting job because if they do. We're speculating a they're going to draft a quarterback in the first round. You know the clock starts as soon as they draft kit. So if I'm teddy bridgewater is this the most stable insecure situation that could be in. And can I get enough money to make me feel? Okay with what could happen in a year or two if they do decide to use me as a bridge quarterback in transition. I would think that the Patriots if the Patriots are in play would be a little better deal just in terms of the way that the team is being constructed in the way to Bill Belichick as treated quarterbacks previously but a when you got sixty million on the table depending on the amount of guarantees that are in there. I can't afford Teddy Bridgewater for taking a big deal. Yeah I think it's interesting and I I think it's also fascinating you're inside this division here with the saints kind of having to make their decision of what they wanted to do going forward and now you have teddy bridgewater playing for a division rival. So it's GonNa be fun to watch that all unfolds We could go through a bunch more quarterbacks stuff here drew brees. I don't think there's really much to say there. We expected that He's back with the saints I expect probably by the time you're listening to this. At the Philip rivers deal will be done with the with the Indianapolis Colts so that takes another one off the market but when we look at the wide receiver position. I mean I try and make sense of this. When you look at the trades for the Andre Hopkins and then you look at at the trade what happened with the buffalo bills acquiring Stefan digs trying to sort out the difference in compensation. There is mad. It's mind blowing a difference between the two they bring the Is is a difference but DJ. We've talked about this when we're building a team in organization. There's a reason why teams have general managers and head coaches and they're typically not the same person ideally want to think about building this like branches of the government. You want to have a checks and Balances System. Ultimately someone has the final. Say would you like in a front office? Have General Manager who can challenge the coach and vice versa. I've always fill hit coaches. Think about the here nail. What can we do for the team today? Maybe tomorrow the general manager is supposed to think about the long term viability of the franchise. How can we have a long sustained stain successful run Were we can compete for titles. And sometimes that might mean taking a step back or not making a move whereas hit coaches because a lot of hay coaches are little more emotional and reactive. They have a tendency to kind of get in their feelings. And sometimes that can be the driving force of the moves that they make a felt like in Houston. Whatever the situation was bill. O'brien and the Andre Hopkins. It was at a point where he felt the need to make a move and wanted to make the move right now where I think a general manager would play it out a little slower and try to really build up that market before. They made the move. Ah Buck I mean. It's it's interesting when you look at the compensation for the two players you look at at at Hopkins. What he was able to get in return. I think you ask anybody around. Lee's top five wide receiver But You J. D. Andrei Hopkins Anna Fourth Round. Pick you get David Johnson. In his big contract running back has not been saying who the cardinals were looking to get rid of. So you're going to take on that contract and you get a second round. Pick this year in a fourth round. Pick next year. So that's what you get for Hopkins and then you look at what the Vikings rail to do in their move they send defined eggs they get a one a five a six and in a twenty twenty one four from the day for for days they also include a seventh round pick with dicks but but to not getting one for Hopkins at least a back in wants something That was shocking to me. I mean it is shocking. But we've seen Lebron can do a handful of these deals and you understand. Dj like is. There's an experience and wisdom that comes with kind of thriving in the general manager role. And when you're a head coach in so many your obligations are getting the team. Ready to play in dillon with things that are related to onfield action. You don't have the ability to understand fully how to execute personnel moves how to weigh in play the TRAE game and all of those things and what you're seeing in in that aspect you saw inexperienced general manager take advantage of it inexperienced personnel man Steve. Tom Played played it out. He was able to dump a player that they really didn't have any use for an get. Becky big time player while without having to get up a top pick. I mean it is just a classic case of inexperienced guy taking advantage of someone who doesn't fully understand what they're doing and that's why I said yesterday when this all went down. This is exciting for Kylo. Murray not just because what you're GonNa get with the Andre Hopkins in this offense with Andrea Hopkins who Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald and also Kenyan Drake. They're gonNA keep who can really get involved in the past Games. Well out of the backfield but this freeze them up now they can take tackle with. The eighth overall. Pick they resigned. Dj Humphrey so the hope is you get this offensive line in good shape. You're going to be able to get more guys out into the route which is going to give him more options. Especially when you have somebody like Hopkins. It's GonNa demand attention so you're going to have more options out the route but buckets..

S. P. Buffalo Bills acquire Diggs from Vikings for 4 picks

"Radio back to the NFL some big moves Monday as the talking began Tom Brady hasn't made a decision although some of the decisions may be impacting him meanwhile we know Amari Cooper will be staying with Dallas end the bills reportedly acquiring Stefon Diggs of the Vikings for four draft picks earlier on ESPN radio on Freddie inferred Simmons giving up a first fifth sixth for a guy who has been a massive headache in your locker room for the last two years and and during a you know a playoff game wild card game against the saints when I got but ends up winning the game right exactly Kirk cousins goes to Kyle Rudolph instead of digs no no I'm not some of the game winning touchdown time out at third or those of third down conversion and and they converted and digs goes off the field and throws his helmet into the bench do it you got a first down you about winning the game were just by yourself oh wait yeah we we we we know what you're about so I don't get giving up that much to get him outside from the public but from a kid a skill standpoint I do get it I knew they would take that better back to back thousand yard seasons I mean he is a remarkable talent my problem with Gallic Biggs is in the room because when he's not being targeted he's a pain in the rear end I wonder how much of this is the findings wanted out of Minnesota so badly that he was going to act like that now I'm not trying to explain it not condoning it all in but I wonder how much a whatever led to him wanting a break wanting a divorce in the Minnesota Vikings whatever that was it could be Adam Phelan and his emergence or you want to play a Kirk cousins wait a problem Mike Zimmer whatever it was the findings have enough for Minnesota and he did everything possible verbally invent action wise to make sure that they were not going to keep him even early today when Kirk cousins got his extension the findings was not have a leader was not even Catholic high thought he said I guess it's time to get out here tell me about the Minnesota he was determined to get out of whatever led to the break I don't know what it was but he got his wish now the findings you got what you want to handle it because if you don't people gonna say you had a good thing going to Minnesota where they were building my United Phelan and that wasn't good enough for you buffalo reportedly sending four picks to Minnesota a first a fifth or sixth in twenty twenty and a fourth rounder in twenty twenty one while also getting a seventh rounder back this spring from the Vikings Diggs is in the second year of a five year seventy two million

"Russell how are you Rick it's been kind of a boring day but I'm hanging in there trying to stay awake so yeah not a lot going on everybody stuck at home and thank goodness the National Football League got their CBA done in we get to this point so give me your biggest story of the day well I think some people would say you know maybe a combination between what the Houston Texans gave away and what the Buffalo Bills gave up for two of the more prominent wide receivers in the league and get under Hopkins I'm sorry the Andre Hopkins headed out to Arizona in somewhat of a shocking move didn't seem like you know Houston dot a lot for him they got a good Johnson the swapping a pick six separate fatter and then meanwhile just not that long ago Stefon Diggs is now headed to the Buffalo Bills for just about everything I think including the anchor bar buffalo wing sauce is part of the deal so does it it it it just kind of said that we were talking with a caller who in a brilliant point tonight that you know who said in a market where the market really upset right now and it looks like in those two deals that they're looking into different market places of I'm going to give up that much in the in Houston and that much an Arizona wow what the world are you guys looking at because it doesn't seem like you're looking for the same twenty twenty free agent market well you know from what I've been able to gather yeah not the kind of like no love lost between bill o'brien de Andre Hopkins you know during their tenure and so on I I guess they didn't really get along I guess you know that was part of the move but still kind of came out of no where Stephon digs it you know he was a little disgruntled the middle of the year all of a sudden went on a little bit of a hot streak and give me a minute so that you know with some of the things they've done with with the draft choice I'm I think you get what a fourth that they're going to be running from me to get a first if it in effect this is the year after end up for the year and they get and amp for gigs and a twenty twenty seventh round pick this year so I will get what it what's funny about the Viking is especially this past year reg this is the team were driven on offense and defense L. mite numbers calling card is defense and I'm trying to imagine where the Vikings would have been playoff wise issue without her cousins without Dalvin cook they were really were the catalyst for the season the Vikings yeah I I I said this is someone earlier tonight I go back to two thousand seventeen the case Keenum year in the big defensive year and they'll certainly go to Philadelphia got absolutely taken apart by the eagles and it depends I know case Keenum had a bunch of turnovers in that game but Nick cold made it look easy and almost for the like the last two years Minnesota's defense has not been the same and you saw what they did earlier a couple days ago little Joseph is gonna take your road is gone now they have an opportunity maybe to rebuild that defense with some use I want to get your thoughts of for those just tuning in right now Russell Baxter joining us right now for pro football guru dot com forty Niners in their moves today what did you make of it what they got arms they re up which I think some people are wondering if it was going to come down between him and Emmanuel Sanders as far as who they've been able to bring back but I'd like to move for both teams we get obviously this call was loaded on the defensive line and you know you know when you use that many first round draft choices that certainly helps in court the cemex raise last year could be working with another former first round draft choice but I think even more so for the colts rich you know they they got Justin Houston off the scrap heap from Kansas city who cut him and of course Chris Ballard knew him from Kansas city came in he played and then the four three got eleven sacks but they didn't get a lot of password for the rest of your defensive line it's a farce Buchner guy give it to you up the middle of the field the Indianapolis defense really slump lately year noted Kobe percent maybe not of been healthy but down the stretch they got taken a point a couple games specially against Tampa Bay and New Orleans specially they're packing fence as a matter of fact so maybe we'll pass rush from up the middle Buckner you know pretty steady in his four years in San Francisco and you know take it now San Francisco are you know how often do you see a team that went to the Super Bowl what are you draft choice in the upper half of the first round what I want to ask you that so if you look at it and you look at thirteen I mean the kid to not if you're if you're jealous you're not real read the stocking your re loading when you get something that high what do you think they're they're big pressing need of San Francisco that maybe they want to go out to be able to get that top twenty draft pick well I think it'll really come down to if they can get Emmanuel Sanders under contract to me they they swung a great deal but I know they gave up you know quite a few draft choices mid round draft choice is to get him in so long but the impact you have on your rock allow any offense you he kind of settled the passing game down I got I mean I know they have George Kittle and so on in terms of the wide receivers I think you'd be able to help some of the young guys like Deebo Samuel and and some of the other day I some of the other younger receivers he just brought a veteran presence does that make it more became a real quick go to wipe out a one M. in cattle were really the catalyst of the passing attack and and I think it will depend on that if they can somehow get him under contract and they've got some cap issues obviously to take care of they also Jimmie ward floating around out there the free safety within might or may not want to bring back I think they're gonna let him test the market so depending on which you know it if they get the respect they could look at another wide receiver the help said to be a lot of you know Jimmy Garoppolo's the garbage is under a lot of criticism especially after the Super Bowl yeah especially in the playoffs as the entire March you know I I've said before to me he's a quarterback the jury still out on not because he's been inconsistent but frankly what she has in place a lot of football in six years absolutely you look at all the time backing up and then getting hurt one hundred percent I don't think I'll use a baseball term I don't think that the sample size is big enough that you can come to that conclusion all right we got forty five seconds left yes I say I same Tom Brady for last what was Tom Brady can end up in your opinion I said all along at least my opinion either goes back to doing whenever he doesn't play football anymore I know there you know the Chargers ideas are flown out there the Buccaneers ideas are full of brown out there would you hire a stopgap quarterback if your team you know to me you know if you're the Chargers why not what Philip rivers remain I can understand what they bring in Tom Brady from Bruce Arians you got a quarterback who played seventy two games for that organization and he turned over the ball hundred eleven time okay you know Tom Brady resume speaks for itself but I I thought all along that either steps away from the game we're going to be going back and doing one twenty years with the same organization you don't usually see a guy leave after that long and I'll be kind of surprised to Brady does and less it's not to play football anymore absolutely hate Russell thank you so much for joining us let's talk later this week as we get more of these free agents in these trades going down Russell Baxter joining us right now from pro football guru dot com thank you so much for joining us we got there all right we'll talk more about Tom Brady worse ago interesting maybe Tom Brady just walk away what do you need to win you're the greatest quarterback of all time why do you need to go somewhere else we'll talk about that right after J. Berman gives us the CBS sports radio update.

Bills to land WR Diggs in trade with Vikings

"The bills first I see first reported I think from Jay Glazer from NFL I'd fax the bills the Buffalo Bills required wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Vikings and you said Adam Schefter has more information as a shifter put out what the other parts the deal A. R. the bills are sending a first round pick a fifth round pick a sixth round pick and twenty twenty one fourth round pick for digs and a twenty twenty seventh round pick she thinks the Texans feel right now yeah that's a ton that's W. said I mean that's the whole that's the whole you're given up for de Andre Hopkins or at least what should have been writing up for de Andre Hopkins yeah he is no where Stefon Diggs being is nowhere near the caliber of receiver that the Andre Hopkins is now no he's not and that's amazing what a great move for the bills huh great move for the bills the Vikings get more and so so now the Vikings become well you you would think better he didn't want to play for the river last year with the injuries they had a tight end out wide receiver that also him not getting the ball and prodding and being upset that he didn't get the ball and now do you see the contract getting paid to Kirk cousins it

"Like a very simple one you bring somebody back next year and you make a strong play for Odell Beckham or Stefon Diggs you cannot run it back with Brady next year if the option is going to be Brady and the weapons that he had last year so if you are the patriots in your thinking short term and you think of it you can squeeze one more suitable out of this great experience but the AFC aside from the chiefs is wide open but let's make a run for it then you bring Brady back on a two year deal it's basically to one year deals and you can get out of it at the end of next season you buy yourself a little bit more time to kick the can you kick the problem down the road a little bit and then you go out and you trade for Odell Beckham that can help Brady in the next quarterback or you trade force the findings of thirty million dollars in cap space get some guys to restructure creates a more cap space and you go all in for next year you try to win the Superbowl the defense is ready do you approve the running game a little bit you approve the passing game and that gives you the best option but the option she can't be you if your Brady going to San Francisco if your New England and you lose out on Brady then you put yourself in a position you can go get Bridgewater you can go get a one year eight million dollar deal for Marcus Mariota and still improve the parts around you can make a move for Andy Dalton no it was not struck at the quarterback position especially given what they got from it last year they got a below average QB last year and Tom Brady you can improve at the position you can absolutely improve at the position you're listening to the Harrison experience live on CBS sports radio my name's Karen says if you want give me a follow on Twitter at C. dot here some people locked in right here the kids fifty eight he he he he also accepting boats motorcycles R..

"To pay so you guys obviously of the playoff win and then the niners game in the niners game you make that big play. Oh maybe there are no that thirteen three but maybe they're a little rusty. You guys have played well the week before are and then the offense with respect kind of ground to a halt was in your opinion. More about what you guys didn't do. or how great this niners. Here's defense has been all urine. Continue to be in that game. They've been consistently good throughout their deny flies around lawmaker slough around and plan where they're playing with a lot goes well you know. They're playing with the energy that you need as defense so more testament to them because we try to do everything you know the game plan we just try to execute. But it didn't Father Oughta we wanted to and we try to adjust. They still got a good deal. You had a phenomenal year. Let me just say days and and it was. It was more interesting staying intriguing for me to watch you this year because your counterpart Adam dealing goes down you step up in your the focus of that offense in the passing game. What was your mentality? What was your approach? You know being kind of a one one eight guys number one receiver with Alan Thinking. What was your approach this year Just far as how it all went down. Of course you'd see a guy go down especially a guy that you call your brother your teammate ground. With Day in and day out for me I would say my approach through the same the same way. Everybody knows me to work really really hard and practice a lot. A and Z. I'm very charismatic. So bring to the table every day ending any new game. I just try to come alive. That's my favorite place. So just doing my job like you. You never shy away from how you really feel about things. You're very open and honest with me media game on the sidelines. There were a couple of times this season where we saw you get frustrated for whatever reason we'll cause some of that frustration fee the say a Somewhat to the point of being only one out there you get a lot of covered two or if I'm just by the backside and they go cloud I'm out of the play I don't I don't have mini rock and Ryan so as far as consistently being doubled or cover to argue dress it up. It's not a it's not a place of being you know especially when you're only receiver out there and you got some young guys that can play. You got great tight ends and you've got to get them involved as well but to me. I'm opposition is not always. Well listen you know this that. I'm a huge fan of yours by fair because you're here now so I have to say what I said of month ago. I was critical of you in the saints game. The game you guys one because you guys is a winning. Many eat. Seem like your emotions boiled over a bit but I had someone real smart say to me. I'd only you understand in. Greg can attest to this as well. The the dependency of the receiver position. How one of the few spots in sports where you can do everything right and still not necessarily dictate any if you don't get the ball Paul? So we're kind of made me want to kind of pull back some of the criticism but I I am curious for you in that spot. How helpless is a word? You never want to use it throw athletes but to a degree degree. How helpless you feel because it's not just about doing your job in order to help your team kind of like replay? The situation on. We're up thirteen to three thirteen to ten. It wasn't a blowout wasn't twenty one. Nothing scores thirteen to ten. I get frustrated because because you want you want to. Do you want perfection all the time and people expect perfection from you so as you want for your team and you want that for the guys around you expect nothing less consumer expect nothing less from you so my game. Is You know you want to do everything right. Even Wanna do everything right. It's not always having to so being. Frustrated is going to be a part of the game for meat not as a player. You wear your heart on your sleeve or your emotions going to sleep and for me. I'm always pushing guys to be the best. They can be later on in the game or not even later on like I mean a mini later. They have another video of Megan's quarterback you don't have to force the bottom you know because that's the kind of player I am always been. I WANNA win. I WANNA win at a high level over Gaza frustrating. How I deal with it? I still want to win. And that's why I didn't have a problem with it because I've watched you over your career do that over and over forget time in and timeout be frustrated as a receiver understanding how dependent you are within also knowing on that. God you gotTa Have that belief of on there. Just give me opportunity. Put me in positions to where I can be successful in this game to play callers. You had to play caller. You lost your play caller like how does that. How does that change things with you? Guys moving forward you talked about getting cloud covers cover too and all those things moving yourself around. What would you like to see in a play? Call it. Well we have a we have a great guy goes Kubiak. Is He's respecting. He's he's well known in this League League. You know we love them. We re appreciate. He's always played like the vaccine this past year. But he's always been like a key part in offense. Oh I we have a lot of respect for him and what he what he likes to do. So for me approach you know. He's not necessarily new but we did build a relationship over this past season so kind of looking forward to see where we go from there you know and we trust you know also has autism. Fancy you know. He did a great job for us. Moving on to congratulate new Dell and Jarvis are going to do with him I mean. I think they're like him. You know from For my specific point of view he brings Structure Organization. You know the way. He talks to US player player coach but respectfully and he understands guys that one win he loves that fire and he says you know what you do long as you play ball so we're a lot of questions about kirk cousins into the season. I think cousin a lot of questions. Nations about kirk cousins coming into this. That's what they say they could play on the big stage. Play in the game play when the pressure is at its highest great great year he I think he answered a lot of those questions with a couple of bigwig games as he got to the end of the season and then in the postseason. Is there anything that chain. There's something the thing that was different and him this season that you saw or the way he approached the game wasn't about her coming into this season because I think he did prove to a lot of people that maybe that monkeys office back just as as far as getting more comfortable I would say just as far like me and a quarterback. I don't know what it's like to be but I assume that is pretty hard and you know you have a lot on your shoulders as far as with his pass and whatever whatever outsiders say about but for him as far as his approach has been the same you know as far as like how he addresses football how justice us how often how our team so I would say nothing clicked say we ran them already. Efficiently Rennebach extremely. Well Your Shadow. The Davin Cook he can hold the load in Really do his job so as far whereas like open up everything else to play action kind of taking the pressure off of him doing doing Xyz he did what he could and you know it worked out well for them. I got one more question. Free free of that I want to. I want the audience know something and I hope it doesn't embarrass you not the I. I saw the emotion in your eyes a couple of minutes ago. When you were talking about you guys WanNa on that play? When you're talking about I could see you almost holding back some of the emotion like it gave me at least sitting a foot from you a window into into how.

"Leaned on Patrick. Mahomes all season long with a twenty four year old quarterback could crumble under the bright lights of Miami. He could Nikki. Could Doug. Doug we'll start with you you in or out on the chiefs winning Super Bowl fifty four if mahomes isn't the MVP. I still win. I mean they have tyreek Hill entirely kill is is arguably the fastest player in the history of the National Football League. I've had scouts tell me he was the fastest player they ever scouted. They went to Oklahoma state. Never seen speed like that and they've seen some speed come into stillwater stillwater. So they can look he t takes it end around or heaped brings a punt for a touchdown tyreek Hill could have one of those games is. Is it likely no but they can still win. They're going to need somebody offensively to have an other worldly performance in addition pat homes. I think to win this

"Well we just talk to my class are brokers insider who told us that the deal is done with that tactic Schirmer to be the new see for the Denver Broncos official press release from the team hopefully coming sometime before the end of the week big al with Schirmer being the new offense of coordinator what do you see as the pros and cons for this this young this young offense with the very young rookie quarterback is gonna be going into your to what I'm looking for are the things that that you can give a team and that's easy to roles and I always talk about this because I believe that that's the key to winning football games in this league how can you create an easy throw a one on one getting the guy wide open like we saw Devine to Adam's last night plan for the Packers you know the Packers go with the heavy formation they run a play that look like it's going to be a post but it then it turns into a corner is a seven right and then you look up and you say all my goodness the guy has a football it's one on one coverage he makes one guy miss and any out runs the coverage that's it easy to roll okay it's not fit the ball in the window it's not a drop back play act soon getting a guide you know own a seventeen yard dig route it's none of those things it's making the girls that the good players make to wide open guys but you have to design those plays for those guys to be wide open and the quarterback shouldn't be surprised when a wide open and when they're not wide open take the ball and run it that's what the good teams in the NFL do that's how you win football games in this business by getting your quarterback easy throws that you can feel good about and we didn't do that especially not against the Kansas City Chiefs are we rich gang real and I hate to see guys getting fired trust me it's it's not it's it's you know nobody wants to see that I wish there was a way that he could have stayed on and work with the quarterbacks something of that nature but maybe it's maybe it's too muddy if he's in Rome but you know it just we just have to have a change in and once again the greatest throws in the NFL aren't necessarily the ones that are forty M. fifty yards down the field like we saw this weekend but we also saw we also saw Patrick my homes we were out to the running back I think it was Williams out of the backfield on what looked like to be a six star pass it ended up being a seventeen yard touchdown the design of the play against the covers that was played was perfect and the guy had a free run to the end zone I mean those are the plays that you expect out of a great offensive coordinator and that's certainly what I'm looking forward Pat Shurmur who spent a lot of time with Andy Reid and Philadelphia I take it I think he was there for at least ten seasons with Andy Reid going from offense of line coach tidy and coats two quarterbacks coach so he understands the offense it's complete and of course in that Minnesota offense that's what we have to go last because that's where he was calling plays exclusively you look at that team and what they were able to do and the way that they brought on Adam Thielen out of no where to become a star well you know that he understands what kind of receipt what the receivers need to look like and not how they need to run there are so many different ways that we can look at this as be an improvement to be an improvement to what we had last year in part of it believe it or not Joe Joe is evaluating players for the upcoming draft that's a big big part of it because trust me there is a common formula to run in this offense and really make it work Stefon Diggs is the guy that blows the doors off of the defense is for the Minnesota Vikings before we and you look at back at Pat Shurmur when he was with Andy Reid it was the son Jackson now what is a in to read as he has he'll explosive wires see what to add to re kill who blows the doors off so I'm almost guaranteed you I'm almost guaranteeing you were going to find a guy that can blow the doors off of the defense in round one or two of this year's NFL draft that's how you make that all things work do you have a guy that can a workhorse guy who can catch the balls and make it happen that's called sudden but we need one of those guys that is scary says that blows the doors off the defense the evaluation process of what that guy looks like I trust Pat Shurmur more than I do John Elway to

Vikings' Stefon Diggs Addresses Trade Rumors Ahead of Giants Match-Up

"Have a an epidemic in the NFL Stefan digs now is letting it be known that because times are getting tough in the modern fell times get tough trade me. Get me out of here. I'm not happy be I don't need to play out to my contract. I will be sick. I will go home and then I will try to force your hand to trade me. He came back to the team. After missing a practice yesterday digs eggs and this isn't a season in which we know everything has gone badly right now going badly right now for Minnesota's offense very small sample size by the way but he is not getting targeted targeted the way he did lassie's not even close Stefan digs and on the same week that Adam Phelan called out the offense and the quarterback leading kirk cousins weirdly publicly apologizing to Adam feeling the other wide receiver then lets it be known that he wants Outta town so Minnesota has a lot of issues right now and it's kind of an interesting time for them to go face a giants team that despite back to back wins known is GonNa Confuse this defense with the eighty six giants Minnesota if they just figure out some type of game plan and finds a balance of their offense you would think they should be able to move the ball and if they don't and Danny dimes James and I don't think say quantum Barclays playing but apparently he is he is possible they says not practicing as of Thursday but apparently he's such a superman that it's he's getting close but even without Saquon Barkley at the Vikings find a way to to win this game and if they look bad doing it we might have a mutiny on our hands with the old Viking

Stefon Diggs on trade rumors: “There's truth to all rumors”

"But we will start in Minnesota we we stefan digs and his current situation the vikings white out missed practice for undisclosed reasons yesterday and it led to speculation about his future with the Vikings today today dig said he has not requested a trade but did admit there is true to all the reverse. He said that he's unsure. His agent has talked to the Vikings and what has transpired can't sit up here like everything is everything is okay his obviously not but but I can't say at this point it just trying to work. Do I feel like there's no matter how you sit up. I won't be saved speaking on that off off. Everybody's known to be rethinking the next one that team guy always predicting but for myself. I never made it just about me. I've never been that kind of so my resume persona kind of speaks for itself. I've never been to got to kind of be off. Be like me me me and wanting to have success. I WANNA have team. Success is always what I've been pushing them always without push so my language was stated saying whether I'm giving many opportunities not not not a lot. Have you asked for trade if you haven't communicated anything more so the conversation has been about teen and China had success food ah I haven't spoke to them you gotTa talk to play Sunday. hopefully then you play. I like football. I want to be part of I want to the apart play football on Sundays on CBS practice today you anticipate house and I feel a little bit better as to Yeah Courtney Cronin joins us now from Minnesota. She was there when dig spoke and Courtney. You heard him say. There's there's truth to all those rumors. What's your take a what exactly he met. Wendy he kept repeating that phrase multiple times throughout his media the reliability this morning and I think that that's him not completely closing the door that we're all he did say when I asked him straight out dicky requested trade you want lots traded and he said I had not communicated that and then obviously you have to follow up about his agent. You didn't fully close the door saying that no. I wanted to be your completely like that. Is there some uproot that there might be some validity what we've been hearing me Hainan seeing that this has been something that's been brewing probably for a little bit of time now so. I think what you were. Each phrase wants to continue to say it while he did say walk this year and he's been here for five years. He loves everything about teammates. I think he's questioned what you have to bring his question about whether he's feel value. He does have a role in the offense but it is minutes role than it was US last year and obviously you've been obsolete. I come in the steam because that kind of brings things to a head to where we're at right now. Wondering are we've seen the end of the era. Is this the beginning of something that we should be more concerned with or just going to blow over eventually because feel there's fire. I'm Greg it courtney. Thank you yeah I think in this case. It's fair to say there is some fire that smokes coming from Joe Joe. I'll ask you first of all about attentional trade market for digs if he were to move on well. I spoke to a team last night that I know would specifically definitely be interested in step on just because they expressly told me that and then last night I think an inquiry was made in they came back and said that they were told that Stefan was not going to be on the market and I see we're hearing during that today in terms of other people following up on the reporting what we do know about stuff on digs at here's a career worst three catches per game and five targets per game and and even though he's coming off a career-best production with over a thousand receiving yards and nine touchdowns his production in the two years prior to this season. It's still been under Adam Adam feeling and you know he's working with the new offensive coordinator and Kevin Stefanski and prior to that obviously was Pat Shurmur. WHO's the head coach of the giant so I think talk. You're looking at a receiver who feels like he can do more. You might even feel like he's the best receiver on the team and he's right. He is not a Mimi Guy in terms terms of how he portrays himself publicly. I've covered him a lot of times. I was there for the Minnesota miracle of so many of his games and by comparison you would definitely not put him out there but off in that sense but just listening to his words and the fact that he did leave the door open with certain things that he said he is letting you know that he is frustrated in that also think that that it fits within the era of athletes right now this season and last season being more vocal about their situations taking more control of where they feel like they can best flourish and I'm getting the hint although I have not talked to him directly or his agent that he's trying to let people know that he feels like everything is not completely kosher dill. It's funny you say that Joe Joe and I think Steve Young. You made the point two weeks ago with the genie sort of being out of the bottle I this is another example of a player. I think trying to sort take some control of a situation a situation that from his perspective is not working the way he'd like it to work yeah. I think it's a direct reflection on the quarterback play that that's been in Minnesota. Obviously his diminished role isn't because of injury or lack of talent. It's because the quarterback isn't getting everybody the ball right. Now I think last ask year when you see how everyone was involved in Adam dealing was getting the football step on digs with everyone was happy. Everyone was performing. Everyone was getting the ball. There were schematically. There were in situations where both of these guys were making big plays and that's what you're used to seeing from the Vikings and I think this year those players just aren't there and there's plays aren't there for those plays aren't necessarily there for Stefan digs for any of those past catches right now because of the quarterback play and I don't know if that's schematics. I don't know if that's simply the quarterback but I think he's unhappy with how he's being utilized and he's taking things into his own hands and to his credit. I've known for some time as well. He's never ever been me guy. He's never been so. This isn't necessarily about putting himself before the team I think at some point he has to look at his career and where he wants to go trajectory wise and make a decision and listening to talk. You almost felt like he had a little bit of emotion coming out when saying I'm a team guy and I'm not a me guy and I'm just trying to put the team. I listen as a football player. I know you can you've experienced this. We only have a certain amount of years and we only have a certain amount of time that we can go out there and play the game so you don't WanNa feel like that. You're wasting a season and I think that's why a lot of guys once they realize look. There's no chance for us to get to the playoffs this year. There's no chance that we're GONNA win in this division this year and teams on the flip side of that. I understand okay yeah. This season is pretty much over so let's try and get some value in some of these guys that are good football players and that's why we're seeing that more this year than maybe in years past. I thought the most interesting thing that he said Real quick when you're asking me if he was going to practice US I don't know I hope so. That's that was the less you know that he has expressed something to the team and he's maybe worried about how they reacted to. How that's what I'm thinking yeah I mean he he clearly was not one hundred percent sure you're next and Steve Young joins US now Steve. We have talked about this before given our conversations and I'm GONNA assume zoom. This doesn't surprise you that we're seeing another example of someone stepping up and saying this isn't working for me no players who are going to continue to demand what's going to be interesting. Is there is is there going to be a market and I think the Jalen Ramsey and if this situation does go forward and these guys are able to get to new teams I I think the ice will break because there are a number I mean everybody in the League has had moments star player now this star players that can do this because they're they're not. GonNa risk career other. You know non star players are not going to risk their careers to demand a trade this cut and so the star players going to say. I know there's a better place for me. I know there's a quarterback it'll throw me the ball and others office coordinator that will take care of me and that's going to continue to grow and I think this is a this is really the really important time Wendy right now awesome because of Jalen Ramsey doesn't get moved and digs does not get moved and the kind of kind of chill this whole thing and can stop it then this market will not not be kind of a burgeoning market but if they start to be able to be moved then everyone the legal realize I can make my way out of here and I wanna be somebody somewhere else and to the to the point just I it was victor. Rodman raw made it but the average career is three point two years in the NFL players are very aware of it. If I'm going to be great I'm going to be great right now. Well there's no question is a pivotal point in the league. We'll see digs by the way signed a five-year seventy two million dollars extension last year the thirteenth highest paid receiver currently in the

"I'm going to call him pro bowlers to digs and I'm just going to stick to it. Because he got rob this year. He had more than one hundred catches more than thousand yards nine touchdowns Stefan digs with the Viking. Now when you got to ninety nine there was no circumstance, right? Even if you've been going off on a stretcher like there would have been a bubble screen something once you got to ninety nine you were going to get to one hundred correct? Yeah. I had to I really didn't have a choice at that point. I was like if you're gonna be stuck at ninety nine is gonna put you in a, but let's let's argue some football movies. Here was the fund digs to God's because earlier this week. And I don't know if he is he's not old enough to remember the original longest yard, but football movies, generally, been bad. Bryan song. I don't think was on your list. Ryan song was not in the top on the blindside. Well, okay, blindside was number one on the list. So fun. Digs is good with that. I'm not all the way to go blondes being number one, not at all. Okay. Because. Oh, it's easy. You know, we're going to rule out remember to tighten the program. I think it was remember the program gods. Well. Graham now, the preview Stefan for the program was amazing. The movie did not match up to the preview. It's the greatest preview I've ever seen disappointing movie. Okay. Any any given Sunday. Oh, there was an eyeball on the field. Not on the list, by the way, not on the list. There was an eyeball on the field. Okay. So hold on a minute. Let's do this. I'm going to do this different. Let's get this the fund digs top-five from number five to number one football movies. Like, remember the times is good. My only objection quibble is the way that game ended. You can't end it on a surprise eighty yard, double reverse or whatever it is that. What he's gonna win the game kinda wanna game..
