"Of tailor made it towards the quarterback that was there so he's adaptable but i don't see ben being adaptable to anything outside of his comfort zone. Date your thoughts on that. Canada offense factor here. We weren't going to see it all anyway in my opinion because it's too hard i mean i hate to go back to it and you got to see the movie inside outright i i made a mean but whenever chip kelly went from the the eagles to the forty niners and i said it was the anger. One that had said congratulations san francisco. You just ruined football first eagles. Now you where like. When chip kelly came in and he had a very special system he had to have the right people and they had to do a major overhaul and it still didn't work. The steelers know better than to do that. And they said they're going to have to reevaluate how they look at some of these things with personnel in the future. You don't make that change overnight. That's just kind of like. I mean that's like the one from a three four hundred four three with some of the stuff that they'd be doing and they already hinted that it was going to be a process before they even said that ben was coming back so maybe that was lip service. Maybe it wasn't. I didn't think i still think it was going to. You're going to see a little bit of a hybrid in their based on their personnel anyway. And they're going to have a season to to get there so if that was going to be that way anyway. Then that's why. I don't think it was that big of a deal with rothlisberger but that's just me. I could be completely off if if the steelers have a more typical off-season than they did last year with mini cams with ota's with more traditional training. Camp i think that will also help brought a lot in even with the canada's system and it is not going to be one hundred percents not going to be the full system yet not by any way not not in any way shape or form but at the same time i think the wrinkles that they put in he'll be able to adapt to a lot better with more practice. More reps our last question. We're gonna with a quarterback. Talk here to finish out the first segment. And i want to ask you is simple question. And you're probably gonna laugh and that's okay and i know you're probably going to say is very black and white Clear cut answer. I might disagree with you though. Is the future quarterback of the steelers currently on the roster. Let's think after twenty twenty twenty twenty one and let's assume that rothlisberger is done after this upcoming season. So is the future quarterback currently on the roster brian. What are your thoughts. That leaves you guys if you're talking about a placeholder maybe but the future long-term starter. No but you're next starter. You're next starter. Wow that's tough that changes the question. That's changed a questionnaire. A little bit quite possibly there on the roster. I still leaning towards. Yes you know what i'm gonna say. The way they do things. I can see them working with one of those guys to make them the next starting quarterback and eventually having to give up and bring somebody new in but right now it's either. I still don't think it's gonna be. It's gonna be mason just because his contract running out that that scenes. I couldn't see them giving him a new deal. I don't think dwayne has been brought in for it. But i can see them saying. Let's try one of these guys for years. We've figured out. I hate that move from. That's probably what they're gonna do. Dave i don't think that just because we're contract runs out that they don't find some value in having him stick around as someone who would. Then if if this is ben's last year which you know see got it depends on how he plays Probably thinking it most likely as but he would be the guy that would have the most experience with team so he might see some value in sticking around on you know very similar to what they did with landry jones who did stick around for a couple more seasons at least one after his rookie. Deal if you're gonna say if if if you're saying it's the next starter who's the regular starter. After ben rothlisberger i'm going to save. Chances are yes they are on the roster right now but if you're asking me is the starter for twenty twenty-five on this roster right now let's say no meeting. I don't see if they have someone other than ben. I don't know that there the long term answer kind like brian was saying you can call me the eternal optimist. All you one but for me. My gosh. i can't stop thinking about wayne haskins as a football player as a future quarterback of the steelers when you pair him in his skill set with what matt kennedy typically likes to do. This was a first round quarterback. And i know that's not a guaranteed berth. That article last weekend first round quarterback taken from two thousand nine to two thousand sixteen is now on a different team or out of the league. That's a that's another story altogether. Maybe we'll talk about that. The second site very interesting but He is a high pedigree guy when we city shows the lance. What atlanta always say. There's like five. Ps had pay pedigree. He's got the pedigree in he didn't come from a a mac school like a miami of ohio. Now there's mac. Schools trust made the steelers draft enough matt players for everybody but still i mean this is from the ohio state and he was a high profile player. You all know because you live in maryland to is there any organization in the nfl more dysfunctional from top to bottom then washington via hard. Look if you wanna talk about onfield you can bring up the bengals..

"This point forward. He is no longer number eight. Tommy gun he is. Tommy alfred maddix when we speak of him. Now you entercom. Thomas thomas alfred thomas. Let's make it. Let's make it sound of improper. Was the thomas tommy i. I don't know. I didn't even bubbles real name. I'm disappointed i'm not okay. Let's let's let's do some final thoughts here. Brian go ahead. You have the floor. What ben roethlisberger is back with. The pittsburgh steelers next year presumably. We know that doesn't give them the best chance to win. We talked about that earlier. Yeah look at getting him. Weapons look at moving some stuff around look under the couch. Cushions don't be o-negative period. This is going to be a wild woolley really fun period and we've got a lot to forward to. There's not a lot of what if this guy can take the baton. You know you have a guy that's been there. He's bought the t shirt and he could win another t shirt and you quite possibly could be buying the t shirt as well that says super bowl. Fifty six champions. Dave final thoughts up when it comes to the steelers. The saying that they're moving towards a return for benjamin todd rothlisberger. It tells me that we as fans look back and see how things are and we try to interpret what we what we see only knowing maybe sixty percent of what's actually happening perfect example of you can you can look at statistics and things going on Like you can say oh well. That was a bad throw by the quarterback would it. Did the quarterback overthrows the receiver. Did the receive around the wrong route. One of the made a bad reed. Who was it. We don't always have that because we don't have the call in the huddle and the steelers do what the fact that the steelers so quickly moved on from randy feature but yet they're they're they're saying they would bring back ben rothlisberger. That might not pass. Our i tests but still remember. We don't have all the information of what was going on. Maybe there was more than meets the eye. Maybe there wasn't but if the steelers are making this decision. I'm going to say they have more information than i do. So therefore they do not feel that the problems down the stretch had to do with rothlisberger as much or else. I think they would have. Maybe said it is time to go on so remember fans. We don't have the calls in the huddle. We're not in the team meetings. We don't know if there's you know conflict or if everything sunshine and rainbows we just don't always know we try to do our best to figure things out from what we can see but when it really comes down to it the people that have all the information are the ones that are making the decisions be well said. My final thoughts are really just request. This is selfish kind of But it's also for the brand if you listen to let's ride podcast zometa do something saturday that i haven't done yet Espy nation is partnering with the app called a locker room. "What we're looking at but there are so many tales of two halves with steelers that the make people worry steel dog. Eighty-eight gives us five dollars. He said does it. Make it worth it. If we fizzle out and have to re repeat of last season. I think right now where we're sitting right now that there's very few fans even for office comes back. The views the steelers as preseason super bowl contenders all right. Anyone agree or disagree with that. Silence says it. All dave's gonna say yes the superbowl contenders in the preseason. It's crazy because i don't watch all these talking heads shows and things like that the nfl but the clips of more twitter. And sometimes i'll and there are people like oh my goodness what is wrong with the steelers. Why would they bring back then. Burger there are other places pretty. She was good morning football. I can't remember which one of them said. It said this puts the steelers back in the mix with everything for next year having rothlisberger. That's all some of them felt. So i'm i've been between if you know what i mean but at the same time you gotta look at it. The offense was bad late whether it be skied whether it be ability the offense was bad. It's got to be different and it. Different doesn't have to be ben rothlisberger. Different can be other things. it's already different offensive coordinator. It's gonna you know we're hoping there's going to be different with some other key issues like offensive line. You know whether it's a new running backer. Different philosophy in the running game. How they're going to do it. It needs to be different. It can't just be more of the same and so many people think that more of the same is old rothlisberger more of the same. Not necessarily you can do a lot of different things around him and still have that same quarterback. We'll see it works. Well in isaac said this in he didn't have a super job but he's a longtime listener of the program. He said a lot of people. Don't want ben to walk there too. Attached to him you gotta do. What's good for the steelers. And this is what the next question is for me. Is this good for the steelers. If ben rothlisberger returns is it actually good for the organization. Think about it from that lens and think about it from that looks at it with that lens. Is it good for the organization for rothlisberger back. Brian thing in my own mind. I'm actually thinking it is i you know. I'm glad he's back for that reason. Because like dave said earlier like you've alluded to it. When asked that question does it give you the best chance to win And i i really think it does so it goes back to that. We don't believe in mason rudolph and probably and this is something that i've already put in factor fiction. This is probably meaning the end for mason rudolph in less something happens that he does get playing time Next year but they that means that they don't believe in number two and so they're sticking with their number one who's number seven and best can be ben roethlisberger and when they put together a window two years ago remember. We talked about that window. Big time when they were bringing in guys like eric ebron stefen wisnewski and even chris warmly and they were doing a lot of two year deals last year when they did that. That was done to get back. The best position for a rang. So now we've got to see what the front office is going to do. Are they going to look at free agency. Are they gonna look at the draft on trying to make it a ring worthy draft and free agent period for twenty twenty one because it seems like the window that they put together was a two year window and it doesn't extend a twenty twenty two so i can't wait to see the deal that they make with ben rothlisberger but this is a move that keeps them contenders. I believe with dave as far as that goes. now i've been looking at the first power rankings. They have them eighth in the afc. They have the twelfth in the nfl but eighth in the afc. So it's really interesting. So that's the one that i i read today so you know when you're looking at it. The national media is going to look at pittsburgh is dysfunctional and bringing back because as a move. Because he's done and they need a move on. They're going to do that. Steeler nation ese nation. They're going to do the same thing. But when you look at it when you're the bottom line is what you care about. The most is twenty twenty one and a lot of you will will will give your right arm for a super bowl. Well that's kind of what they're doing. They're they're not giving up on that that right arm. And that's what they're doing by bringing back ben roethlisberger. I still think it's a little bit of a sentimental moved. They're not ready to move on but they're not ready to move on for a reason. K dave. Let's go back to the question that was. Is this the best thing for the steelers organization to have ben rothlisberger back. I i'm i'm going to say. Yes mainly from a number standpoint. Because if you're gonna have twenty two and a quarter million dollars tied up in a quarterback that might not even be on the roster. You might as well tie up a little bit more and have them around. That's from the stat person within me. Then you want to look at. It has been the same player. He was five years ago. I mean other than the guy that just wasn't the super bowl. How many people with this age are the same player that they were five years ago. That that's not what you expect but you also gotta remember that what he brings is above the neck as well and you have to have to realize that that works. We can't do. I have been saying they just can't do the same stuff. You can't do the same thing and have the same philosophy and roll out the same people because it didn't work down the stretch You've gotta fix problems. But it's not that. They're not fixable. It's not that they're not fixable so. Brian said something that i did did want to hit on real quick and that was he said that it showed that that that they had no faith in mason rudolph. I don't know if he said no phase out there exactly how he said it. But i'd i. I'm not in that camp this guy. May i don't feel that mason rudolph even though i thought he was intriguing. An injury in person to draft in the third round. I was in favor of that. I've been a guy that wanted to see him. Succeed was obviously did not do as well in twenty nine thousand nine as we had hoped but he i don't i still don't think that he was the guy that was brought in to definitely be the guy i mean. What green bay did last year by trading up in the first round. That's the next guy for them. That's obvious to me. Rudolph was what he was meant to be to be the guy that's their behind. And maybe he's the next guy but doesn't have to be a decent chance that he could be called on for part of the next season. Could you just don't know k. sean. The dawn gives us five dollars. Thank you very much he says. Do you guys. And this is something i was gonna bring him next. Do you think this is going to hinder running his offense fully. Ben needs to adapt. I feel we can't run a watered-down canada offense. This is something that i talked about on my. I'm just going to say. Dave i apologize. Let's ride on gonna run friday morning if you haven't checked out. Check it out. And it's there's a lot of there's lot of complicated factors to the quarterback ryan this year and one of them is canada's offense. Is ben coming back if they can't run candidates genuine offense. Is it gonna hinder the production of the offense in the long term. And that's that's a question that i can't answer because i don't know what candidates going to do. He's proven that he can kind of alter his offense based on what he has I could tell you. What the atypical quarterbacks like with with him. And i would tell you. It's probably like jacoby. Perset is not been roths but nonetheless. I feel like he can still make it work. Why wouldn't you want a future hall of fame quarterback at the helm. You gotta make more brian. What do you think about this with the cantu offense that we don't know what that going gonna look like. Let's make that very clear. But with ben in in no not knowing what's going on like what do you think i just don't think you will get one hundred percent canada offense. They have to tailor. Make for ben rothlisberger to To work towards the strength so mike cane is not going to be able to do everything he absolutely wants to do. But if he can make it work for ben roethlisberger and like dave said last week that everywhere that he went he.

"Are we talking about two thousand nine with with mike wallis and craig urban. That wasn't who was back to back. In two thousand nine they had jober nat picks in five is when they had their back toback. Pex okay what am i gave you. A hint at one of the players even became a coach for the steelers. And you said since when it's been since the eighties since the eighties karnal karnali. Darren actually have pretty good answer. That's really gonna answer eight eighty nine. It would actually be nineteen ninety nine in round three. Pick seventy three seventy four. Pick seventy four lancaster yet. Well seventy three was was joey porter and then amos sarah whe now it was like kris farris. I think it was was attack. Whom he from. Wisconsin yes they were back to back. Picks highest backed about fixing. I've ever had pick seventy three and seventy four nine hundred ninety nine one detail so but just so you know the years one nine or two thousand nine thousand one thousand nine eighty five twice in one thousand nine hundred eighty and they had back picks in that historic nineteen seventy four draft in the sixth round. So after they picked mike webster they had back to back picks in the sixth round. And we don't know their names. I know he even care enough to write them down. All right that it all right. Brian needed year trivia. Right yes okay. So you know. I love middle names in you. Know that because look at my screen here and we talk about one of the major parts of the show tonight was talking about one benjamin. Todd rothlisburger other steeler picks in the modern era of the pittsburgh steelers which i go from nineteen sixty nine all the way up. So that's how i do. The modern era of the steelers. And i have some very interesting middle names here. And i'm going to go ahead and give you the middle names and you tell me which quarterback and they were starting quarterbacks. You tell me which quarterback had this particular middle name. I'm only going to give you four. So we will go forever on this and gandhi. Who had a presidential middle name. Kennedy kennedy and bobby burster actually i. It's not actually does have a presidential medal name. But no it's it's not bubby brister. Let's go near donald. That's i was gonna say it is. Neil o'donnell neil kennedy donal hail so let's talk bubby brister say you might actually have some of these because i know before you know bubby brister first name now. It's not bubby jeff. Oh come on man. It's walter okay. What was walter. Brister's middle name is an hour. It.

"But i think there's still going to be really good now. Let's do this again with mac john's because he's the guy it happens every year and there's going to be other players as well. We all know this if evolved the nfl draft. There's players that all of a sudden he started to see their stock. Just slowly climb. What's going on with this guy like the second round pick. What the heck mack jones. You trading up for mack jones brian. I would like to invoke my inner freddie. Mercury from queen's bohemian. Rasp when i say no no no no no no no no. The guy had all the weapons in the world. He should have not been a heisman. Finalists i do not like mac jones. I know yet. Good senior bowl i. He is not first round talent in my eyes. Everybody can come at me. That's fine but he's not not trade enough for this guy he's a. I think he's a second of best. Probably a third round quarterback dave mack. John's no take the words. Ohio state from justin fields. put in the words alabama. I'll say the same thing it's the same. It's one of those things did when you have a very strong program. All around your quarterbacks are going to look better. And who's the last. Who's the last alabama quarterback that was that really did a lot in the nfl. I always remember 'cause. I don't watch college football if you know what. I mean. a quarterback j. Now joe nemeth maybe say is no or bryant. Only judging hot girlfriends is that what. It is davis. This guy has been putting us in there The steelers up. Sorry wrong one. Steelers fan eighteen twenty. Three let me find it. He's been saying over and over again. Dave the answer a question. The greatest ohio state quarterback in the nfl. Was mike tomczak here it is. I don't even know the thompson. Besser gathered is above might be. I don't know if the greatest nets all you need to know it. Regards quarterbacks i don't i watched This is what i like to do. I like to go onto specific youtube. Channels that breakdown players and they show a lot of film and then i'll watch some game film of the player and i've watched mack jones film. I've watched trae lands Kyle trask in other ones from florida. That i watch. He's not considered a first-round pick. But i was curious. Matt jones is a. I don't think there's anything special to me at all about this guy. He's more of a traditional quarterback. I'm looking for someone with a little bit of mobility He doesn't have that. Some people are saying is next. Tom brady a. I don't know about all that. We'll see but i'm passing big time on natura uneven. Even passing on these air twenty four brian. Are you do in the same. Oh no i don't want anything to do with them. Okay dave's aim same. all right. very maybe if he's around to think about it you yeah and that's fine but you just don't wanna do the already burns here. You just don't wanna do the j. p. lows men like the bills did because they had to have a quarterback. You just don't wanna pick you. You don't wanna pick the position and that would be picking the position if you ask me. Yeah okay. let's go into some trivia. Now we have be able to take our time with us. dave go ahead fire some trivia. Atas twelve if you've been following my series on behind this curtain dot com your one stop shop for all things. Pittsburgh steelers every thursday. I think the first week might have been on a friday but around thursday. I've been looking at a draft class from the steelers. I started with two thousand four. And i've been going up each week described. Tell you all the players were the in the draft class so and how their careers panned out. Well something was very interesting. When i when for the one today which was the class of two thousand nine and it was at the steelers had back to back picks in that draft. And i know you guys both new this because you of course. You've read the article. So i couldn't ask specifically about that but then i got to thinking. Is this something that happens. A lot with the steelers. So i went all the way back. Year-by-year myself is looking it up all the way back to two thousand nine hundred seventy the merger sets the merger. How many times do you think the steelers have had back to back. Picks in the nfl draft. You know it's at least one. I'm going to say just once. Say actually i know it's been more than that. I can't tell you who. I'm going to see three k. It's so funny. Because every time i hear this number i think the episode of friends when she just at the end just puts up seven Seven times seven times had ex. Here's what's even crazier. There was one sees that they had back to back picks two times in the same draft. Just so happens to be the first draft that was ever televised. that was. i'm gonna say nine thousand nine hundred and you would be correct brian. Anthony davis it was nine hundred eighty. They and that's what's crazy with both of these picks they had the last pick of one round and the first pick of the next round. Of course the last bit. Because they won the super bowl and seventy but in rounds nine nine and ten they had picked to forty nine hundred fifty and then around eleven twelve. They had three or five three zero six but would ask one last question about this. The highest they've ever drafted with back-to-back picks. Was there back. Toback picks in the third round picks number. Seventy three and seventy four. Any idea what year who may be one of the players would have been there if you can remember your your your draft because this one is i'll say this it's not. It's since the.

Mahomes to have surgery to fix turf toe

"Were talking about Patrick Mahomes undergoing surgery turf toe. And we started talking about this about three hours ago, and we were just going around the room going. Do we know exactly what a turf toe is? Because it gets it gets thrown around a lot and remember when dealing Sanders was with us at the Super Bowl when he took off his sock, and he showed us that toe That was turf toe that never healed whether he had surgery on it or nod Jack Lambert, the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, I think had turf toe and it stayed with him the rest of his career, so we thought You know what? Let's bring in somebody who knows what they're talking about. A former NFL offensive lineman won a Super Bowl with Washington a Harvard trained orthopedic doctor, mark addicts and good to have you back on here, Doc. So Do you want us to tell you what we think Turf toe is and then you could probably correct us on this. That'd be great. Let's see what you guys got. Let's see how good you are. All right. I'll start with you, Paulie. What do you think your toe is like a ligament sprain in the toe that hampers an athlete from pushing off like sprinting like running for two. You got a definition for church to one's toe was so severely sprained from the pounding on the torture that it does something. What kind of disconnects Tito from the other toes and needs to be surgically fix a snap back into place. All right, Seaton It is an injury that when, uh, say like wide receivers are going to get their second foot in and they drag it along the left their toes on the turf, and then it gets hurt like that. No, I did not. I did not even look at it that way. Yes, my club, So I thought it was a rug burn style injury from any time she goes on the worse when you're playing with your kids of rug burn, but I do believe it's out. Now ligament underneath your toe that connects to the foot. Okay, let's let's bring in. Doc and Doc. What exactly is Turf toe. Well, I think I think example one wins the ligament injury so it could be a ligament injury. Or it could be an injury to the planter plate, which is almost like a Cartlidge thing That's on the bottom of it, So it is the big toe joint. And it rarely. Is it an injury? There were quite a surgery. The bass majority of players don't require surgery in the NFL there have been about there was a study that was done that had about 30 guys with serfdom. Injuries that were pretty severe, and only about 10% ended up requiring some surgery. Deon Sanders did require surgery. Deon Sanders Strip toe injury did end his career. Essentially, he stuck around for a couple more years, but never really was the same. Antonio Gates had it had a pretty bad turf toe had surgery in 2000 and eight and played Many years was very productive after that injury in surgery, So generally speaking guys, too, Okay. I think John was as his foot with a test was an extreme case. Didn't Mahomes play the Super Bowl with a Tauron ligament? Certainly did. I mean, I In other words, when you have a tip toe injury there, three grades break one. Great, too Great three. It's the same for almost anything. Great one, just a few of the fibers or tourney. Great to a bunch more. Tauron. Great three. It's completely disrupted. So for someone to need surgery generally, there's got to be a little bone chip. It's in the joint or the toe has to be somewhat unstable, which would tell you that that ligament tear had to be pretty significant.

NFL and COVID-19: The Impact on the Media's Access to the Game

"Clayton, NFL reporter met with Mike's Open the bulldog in the afternoon show this week. John Clayton. Maybe it's different to John Clayton on the Western Hotline. How strange is it for you this year, John covering this game and talking about it, writing about it without being there. Really strange. I mean, this is the first one that I've missed now since 1983. But you know, it's an of course everything's on zoom and all those different things. I missed a lot of the press conferences, although I did catch Roger Goodell's today, the more Smith today and you know, maybe a couple others, but that's been about it. But it is so strange because, you know Hall of Fame meeting was going to always be Saturday, the night before the Super Bowl. That's not gonna happen. We've already had that meeting the you know, going to the press conferences and all that would be such a normal thing. But, yeah, this is so different because it's something I'm not used to infect it. Kami cold the other day on radio, somebody says, What do you usually snack on during when you're watching the Super Bowl? I said what was ever in the press box. Well, this is the first Isis 1983 that I'm not going to be in the press box. All right. You're gonna make a spread at home. You gotta figure out what's going to do that, right? Yeah, that is, um it is different. If you this might not be like the most pertinent thing, John. But Have you thought at all about how much if any, of how the league has handled in particular media and interviews and access will change moving forward, even Let's assume in in a in a year or two. We're all vaccinated and there is a new one of these on the horizon, like were quote unquote normal pre pandemic right. People are going to these events and media are there covering it, and everything is like it has always been traveling to and from these games Do you think the league or the teams in the league might like to still restrict some of that access? Just because well, They've liked having access restricted. Well, I think that there's a decent chance of that. You know, my big worry is particularly during the week whether they will not open up the locker room. And will they open up the locker room after games. I mean, that's still a possibility, too, because you know the way the vaccine back Elder backs is the nation's air coming is that you know, we're probably gonna go into maybe the fall to have everybody vaccinated. And so that's going to be the case. You know, you would have more testing and different things like that. So, yeah, I'm a little bit worried that we may have another virtual year of not being able to see or talk to the players except on zoom. It does seem already that there's discussion about from teams that some of the changes last year too many camps and schedule like the off season schedule. Well, if if they don't remain the same way as they were last year, they will also not be how they used to be. Yeah, I mean, you know, you have to anticipate first off that the league is going to go to 17 games for revenue purposes, and I don't cut it down to maybe two preseason games. If any, you know again, they may go without a preseason. But again, I think that'd be a mistake. I think you still need the coaches to be able to put the players on the field and the players Association and the players don't wanna have O T A S and mini camp. And I think you know that could be a mistake to because I think I think about this. I mean, this is gonna be the strangest college draft we've ever seen. Because, you know, did the G m's the scouts and that Have not gone to the schools to be able to see. The players have been prohibited from that, you know, they did have the Senior Bowl. But that takes care of 136 players were able to see in person and there's no scouting except watching everybody in the pro days. There's no combine. And so because of that, you know you're gonna have so many more mistakes because there's so much Little you don't know, And then they make it even tougher. Remember, you have a whole bunch of college opt outs. The guys that skip the season so basically, you haven't seen them play since 2000 and 19. That then I think, by the way, my opinion is that right there is the big one with means, not everybody, but it's got guys that played only a couple of games with their their schedules shortened or didn't play at all. You know, you didn't ask me this and I don't. I know you won't agree with it. There's already so much so many mistakes in the draft as it is, they said the same thing about practice when the Titans couldn't practice. You know, he's supposed to assume they're going to be awful. They were great. And the Browns didn't have their head coach and couldn't practice like more than once. And there were big blowout. The Steelers. You know, like, I don't know. I think I think the draft will end up looking mostly the same, but we'll see. Deanna, and it sure looks like the timing of it, too, is that you know the draft is going to be virtual like it was last year, which turned out to be a pretty good success because you know it kind of give you that home feeling Because now I mean, you're in the homes of the players are in the family of the players and all that different stuff. And so that seemed to work out very well. But you know, because I'm always used to go into the draft wherever it's going to be. So this might be the second year. I might miss that.

"What Thomas Edward Brady has done in his forties. Just flat bottles. My mind. How can you just put on another jersey and wind up in the same? Same situation, which is another Super Bowl appearance. That would be 10 10 Super Bowl appearances for Tom Brady. And he says Everybody wants to win the Super Bowl for Bucks coach Bruce Arians at 68 areas will be the second oldest head coach in the Super Bowl. He's 12 as an assistant with Steelers. He's a great man, a great leader, a great person, a great friend Brady set of Arians. He also reflected on the year. That it's been in Tampa, You know, I just thought, Wow, This is really been a magical year. Really, for me as a player to switch teams, which that takes a lot and you know, hopefully we'll go finish. The job that would be the best part about the season is winning the last game boys. It's always been a goal to win the last game of the year, so We got an opportunity to do it. It's certainly not gonna be easy, and it's gonna take everything we got. We're going up against a great championship level team, and it's gonna take our best

The Tempest Stele

"This artifact is at its heart a big stone block it is a slab. It is a big slab made of cal site. That's currently in multiple fragments. I think through at least three major fragments And they were recovered from the temple complex of karnak which is in the ancient egyptian city of thebes near the modern Upper egypt city of luxor. And this artifact was recovered by archaeologists. I think in the late nineteen forties early nineteen fifties Karnak of course this big beautiful temple complex you may have seen. It represented digitally and transformers movies. Where they're big robots slugging around there or as an actual shooting location in the spy. Who loved me. Did the transformers really battle here. I think they did at some point. The transporter the it's part of the the raison d'etre of of Transformers to eventually just slam through and demolish every work of humankind like all artifacts and landscapes must be ground into sand by the transformers until only transformers remain right. Okay just a baron. Featureless earth completely smooth but with transformers with mack trucks and jeeps and stuff. But anyway. what's the deal with this slab. The tempest de originally stood about one point. Eight meters tall so about six feet tall and it bears an inscription texts that was copied on both sides in these horizontal lines. But it also has imagery at the top so to quote from One of the papers that we're going to be referencing today. I think that this description comes from this. First paper that was published by karen pollinger foster robert k. Rittner and benjamin. Our foster in the journal of near eastern studies in nineteen ninety-six quote above the horizontal body of each text is a lou net with to adore st- scenes and brief vertical labels unlike the parallel text. The tulu net labels display minor variation in wording both faces preserve dual scenes of the king followed by female deity of fecundity carrying offering trays. And these traits have like fruits and vegetables on them. So you've got this big old texts. That's on both sides in this image of a king and a lady who represents fertility Carrying up some nice foodstuffs fruits and vegetables. Nice plant matter and so here. I think maybe we should actually just read the full text of the tempus teela because it's not all that long And this is something that i personally really love. May maybe other people aren't as interested in design but it just reading the text of of texts that are this old like these. Ancient egyptian inscriptions really does kind of put me in an altered state of consciousness. You know it's like I i feel like i'm inhabiting a mind. That is so separated from me by time and culture that it's a little bit creepy. I mean to to a certain extent. That's that's exactly what's happening right. The transfer of information across the ages. Yeah and in. There's this like weird tingling down at the bottom of my brain where i just feel like. There's a lot that's really important that i'm not understanding but i'm getting just the slightest hint of what it is coming through in the translation Well that's the tingler you've got that. That's the vincent price movie. Well i know what you're talking about with okay. This english translation is by the american egyptologist. Robert honor who is the one of the authors on a couple of studies that we're going to be mentioning today now again. The steelers text is damaged. So there are some gaps and some of these have been filled in with. What is very likely what their contents were so. There's just some texts that we don't have but we feel very confident you know. This is what it would have been another parts or just left blank. Where there's less certainty and i guess when we get one of those blank spots just sort of pause for a second in the reading so here it goes long live the horace great of manifestations he of the two ladies pleasing of birth the golden horus who binds the two lands king of the upper and lower egypt. Neb feddie raw son of raw ahmosis living forever. Now then his majesty came raw himself had appointed him to be king of upper egypt. Then his majesty dwelt at the town of said. Jeff tally in the district. Just to the south of kandara while on raw. Lord of the thrones of the two lands was in thebes. It was his majesty who sailed south to offer bread beer and everything good and pure now after the offering then attention was given in this district now then the cold image of this god at his body was installed in this temple while he was enjoy. Now then this great god desired. His majesty was god's declared their discontent. The gods caused the sky to come in a tempest of rain with darkness in the western region and the sky unleashed without cessation louder than the cries of the masses more powerful than while. The rain raged on the mountains louder than the noise of the cataract which is at elephants. Every house every quarter that they reached floating on the water like skiffs of papyrus opposite the royal residence for a period of days while a torch could not be lit in the two lands. Then his majesty said how much greater this is than the wrath of the great god than the plans of the gods then his majesty descended to his boat with his council following him while the crowds on the east and west had hidden faces having no clothing on them after the manifestation of the god's wrath then his majesty reach the interior of thebes with gold confronting gold for this statue so that he meaning on raw received that which he desired then. His majesty began to reestablish the two lands to drain the flooded territories without his to provide them with silver with gold with copper with oil and cloth of every bolt that could be desired. The and his majesty made himself comfortable inside the palace life prosperity health. His majesty was informed that the mortuary concessions had been entered by water with the tomb. Chambers collapsed the funerary mansions undermined in the pyramids fallen having been made into that which was never made. Then his majesty commanded to restore the temples which had been into ruin in this entire land to refurbish the monuments of the gods to erect their closure walls to provide the sacred in the noble chamber to mask the secret places to introduce into their shrines. The cult statues which were cast to the ground to set up the braziers to erect offering tables to establish their bread offerings to double the income of the personnel to put the land into its former state. Watson Wants Houston Texans Trade - No Matter The New Coach

"Be enemy. Who watson apparently liked and wanted at the beginning the talk. Now there's nothing better talk narrows it. The shaun watson is doesn't care who the head coaches that he's going to ask out and he wants to be traded now. This is the fact that i've tried to say speculation until he says something. But there's enough insight from these people who do their job morton schefter and and rappaport and all the people that it's this is not fake. It's obviously real people. Think laking this to these. I don't have any idea. But all of them have their sources. It's definitely there's there's no way it's anybody. But sean somebody connected to sean agent. A a buddy whatever it is we everybody has somebody that go to for this. And this is obviously real. The question is how real is the trade. How real would it be. And sean again. The texans on a on a give him all that money which he deserved. But putting a no trade clause in for twenty five year old and an and now if he decides to drop the no-trade clause he can decide where he goes. So let's say it was the pittsburgh steelers who wanted offer but it was less offer than the. Let's say the chicago bears and he says i'm not going to either one and i'm not going to be here so now you've been he'd that the only thing he does control about this he can hold out but he can also pigeonhole you into who you're going to trade with which may cost you less. Because they know the sean while you may get less for him because shawn watson can lead you down all six different teams and lead you down to. Here's the to. it's either here. i'm not going. And i'm not showing up now. You can call the bluff and say we're not trading you there for that and cause they're not we're not we're going to get somewhat close to equal value which is going to be impossible. But then you're going to have to hold out if you wanna play that kind of hard ball or less. Just gonna go in and say you know what we'll give you away for a cheaper price. Let the fact that he's unhappy as obviously real so. It's something that has to be discussed now. I'm not going to sit here and speculate will go into the jetsons you i don't know and none of us do and i don't know i still think it'd be stupid to trade him. But if you play hardball you and you're playing that okay. Are you going to hold out. You're not call the bluff.

Lake Erie's Revenge: The Cleveland Browns Date With AFC Destiny

"Thanks for joining me. Man going to be on with ov pablo jake. Trotter covers the cleveland browns for espn and before that you reported on the big twelve and followed baker mayfield's meteoric rise. So you live in cleveland. I live in cleveland. I live about five miles away from the browns training facility in berea. Ooh so listen you are right at the heart of everything you cover the browns. I want to understand what does winning this first. Playoff game. twenty six years doing it against is truly hated. Enemy in the pittsburgh steelers. What does it do for a city after two decades of being like generally humiliated. How would you describe the energy. Jake in cleveland right now. Yeah i would describe it as one of the greatest moments in the history of the city. And i'm not just talking about football. I'm talking about all moments. If you talk to people who grew up your they would say that sunday one of the happiest days of their lives sunday night after that win you could hear fireworks going off around cleveland. I don't know who has fireworks in the middle of january but people have them. Apparently people were driving up and down. Their streets warns it was a very exciting night. For cleveland and one that they've been waiting for for twenty six years and really forever considering how dominated they have been by the steelers over the years. Yes i'm looking at a list of things. Actually jake that happened in nineteen ninety four when the browns won their last playoff game. Turns out the number one on the billboard charts. Was the sign by ace of base. Is that all sound right to you. In terms of how did all of this has been feeling. Yeah i've been doing this all year checking what songs were number one at a time. The browns headache milestone. I know that when they were foreign one for the first time since nineteen ninety. Four when bill belichick was still the head coach. That boys to men actually had the number one song on the billboard. Hot one hundred. That kind of gives you a little context of how long it's been since the browns were at this point. I mean they're starting quarterback for example wasn't even alive to rewind to a little bit more recently the week leading up to this playoff win over the steelers it was. I don't even know how to explain it. Other than just like total chaos. Breaking news into i ate out of cleveland browns coach. Kevin stefanski has tested positive for covid. Nineteen according to our adam schefter to other coaches and players dealing with kobe related issues. They're closing their facilities fellas. They ultimately competed with kevin stefanski in his basement. Watching the game not on the sidelines. So what is this week been like as it relates to cove it. They had a practice on wednesday which was weird to see because they haven't had a practice or very many of them not even just last week for the last couple of weeks. I mean go back to the game in week. Sixteen when they traveled to play the jets. They had to delay their flight because they had a positive test from one of their players. Then they had to put their entire receiving core as high risk close contacts on the reserve covid nineteen list. They finally get to newark. They stay the night there. They were not able to do a walk through before leaving on saturday so they held a walk through on the fifth floor. The parking garage that morning adjacent to their hotel really from that moment until now it is been total. Chaos i mean they have had almost every single day since then. Something chaotic happen where they'd had to adjust. They went the entire week last week. Almost without a practice until getting one in friday they finally got kevin stefanski their head coach back in the building on thursday. It has been a bizarre couple of weeks. But to this team's credit into kevin's stefanski credit. They have never panicked. They have never felt sorry for themselves and they have been able to overcome it. Which is the most impressive thing. When this team given their lack of success in the past in the way as they've come together their ability to overcome different curve balls that have been thrown their way.

"steeler" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"Pittsburgh steeler fans we are back. steeler static. I'm still scofield and on less something came across the during this time that I'm aware of I'm still the CO editor behind the curtain dot com and we are coming at you or I'm coming you with the steelers Stat Geek this week. What did they hit question that I got this s academy on. Twitter of from John maccallum. He asked me this before the steelers game. Before the steelers game. And if you know what happened to the steelers game and more importantly, what happened the game after the steelers you're going to see how much this question even changed and this question was that he noticed a ridiculous number of missed kicks. In Week one. Wanted to know how common that was well, unless you go back and look at every single week of every single season, it's really difficult to get that answer I didn't look at every single one. I'm sorry I would love to but I also still have a website to help run so but I did look at some I did look at some numbers but here were the numbers for week one. Of Two, thousand and twenty. Now remember every team played a nosy go along the season. There's by weeks everything else serve rather than look at seventeen weeks. I'm looking at this as sixteen because everyone's already played played one game. So when I use my divisor and here I use sixteen because I did it by game rather than by week although I did look at stuff you know some as weeks but. This This week one of two, thousand and twenty. There were five mixed missed extra points which. Since they moved it back. You could kind of dive into that a little bit. It's frustrating about that was one of them was by the Pittsburgh steelers, it was Chris Boswell. Doingit right off I. mean he clanked it. He Clang Right off the the Left Upright. But you know what? Four or five inches to the right and it's good. That's that's the difference there. Luckily, that did not come back to haunt them. What was actually worse from Boswell was the kick out of bounds because that's in essence a fifteen yard penalty they throw a flag and they put it to forty, but it doesn't go in the books as a penalty but because the reason I say it's a fifteen year penalty if that Paul goes into the end zone. then. It comes out to the twenty-five. If it goes out of bounds on the sidelines, it comes out to the forty that's fifty yards. So that's why I say it's like a fifty yard penalty. So imagine getting a fifteen yard penalty touchback. That's exactly the same thing. So five missed extra points. Nineteen Missed field goals one thousand nine hundred. Nineteen. That's a lot. That's a lot. I. Can't go back week by week until you there's ever been. More missed in that just because that would prob. I, probably could have been searching that constantly since the end of the second game and I still don't know that I would have had that answer for you intact with the show that would take a tremendous amount just by the way unless there's another database that I could find the consorted easier is the only way I could. Do that is to go in week by week every year but I did look at some other things before I dive into that there was only one game all weekend that did not have a missed kick one game and it just so happened to be a game where the teams combined for seventy seven points that was between Green Bay, and Minnesota there was no mrs in. The the field goals were three for three and the point after attempts were six for sex between the two teams. Every other game at least one kick missed of one. Of the thirty two kickers this past weekend only twelve of them didn't mystic mystic. So there were twenty players that missed kicks. In Week one. And there are some places where they've already had some some players turn around I'm pretty sure. CLEVELAND. Changed their they're kicking situation and other than that. I'm not exactly sure. So I'm not GONNA say. But some some crazy stuff and it wasn't like they were I I don't mind when a player misses a field go over fifty arts. That's a long way and even when you're looking close. You know I kind of look at it as forty, seven beyond. A forty seven yard field goal means that the line of scrimmage is the thirty yard line. So, you get the yard line. You're kicking that forty seven yard that in is one where I'm really looking for kids to really hit but just listen to some of these distances. These are in no particular order that were missed thirty, one, forty, one, twenty, nine, thirty, four, forty, five, forty, eight, forty, two, forty, four, thirty, eight, thirty. Then there's a fifty, forty, seven, forty, nine, fifty, one, fifty, four there are some longer ones fifty, two, fifty, three. Another fifty three and a fifty five. So there were a lot of fifties in there but there were some short a twenty nine yard field goal. Twenty nine yard field goal. That was a that was in the Sunday night game. That that's a rough one. So, and then you know the Cincinnati bengals ended up losing the game when I missed field goal or at least didn't weren't able to go to overtime. So that that was very interesting. But what I did here was, I broke down some numbers from years past. And it was of just how many field goals I'm doing extra points right now how many field goal Mrs there were per year over the last five years So. Two Thousand Nineteen had the most by lot. There were a hundred and eighty-one missed field goals in two thousand nineteen. There in two thousand that averages eleven point three a week just so you know that's what that average comes to and yes, there were ninety this past week. Two thousand eighteen hundred, forty, five, two, thousand, seventeen, at one, hundred, sixty, one, two, thousand, sixteen, one, hundred, and fifty, nine, and two, thousand, and fifty, one, hundred, and fifty three. So the low one in there was two, thousand, eighteen with one, forty five. Just, I also went back rather than look at each year I went back over the previous twenty years, which was two thousand to twenty, one, thousand, nine, hundred. And on average. The total was one hundred and fifty one. So. Which tells you that they actually were lower toward you know. There was only. The one, forty, five from two, thousand, eighteen was the only number under the average which means in some of those other years there had to be other lower numbers in there. Then once if you WANNA bring that number down. But what's interesting is. Eleven point three was the average for for that year. For Two thousand eighteen. But if I went back and looked at just week one and said, okay, what's the week one average for How many kicks were there in week one? For Two thousand and one, thousand, nine hundred and it was nine. So they were under the average under the average. In Week, one that they were for the season. Two thousand eighteen was a little bit of an anomaly they were ten missed in the first week and the average was nine. Two thousand seventeen early six kicks missed in week one, two, thousand sixteen had ten and two, thousand, fifteen, hundred nine but as you can see nowhere in the neighborhood and nineteen. Over the twenty years thousand, thousand, nineteen that I looked at that was that had. That had one, hundred, fifty, one on the season, which averaged nine point four four. Per Week in specifically averaging kicks from week one. There would have averaged out per year that would have been eight point seven missed field goals per season over the last twenty years during the first week of the season..

"Are all valuable and I know there's some things going on in our society now and I know there's opinions on both sides of this that and the other thing and I don. I don't want to get into that all I have to say is this. We're we're all part of the human race. We are all worthy of respects and we not only do. We need to love each other. We also need to listen to each other. I was saying to my wife last night. I feel terrible when I have to yell at my children. I don't WanNa yell at my children. I wish I never yelled at my children but sometimes when I say something that my children are they. Don't listen I say my children. They don't listen to my children. They don't listen. I feel like I have to yellow. In order to be heard and sometimes people people do things that whether or not is good right beneficial or whatnot but sometimes people are things that they need to do in order to be heard so the best thing that we can do for each other. All the time is we need to listen. Just listen listen to people and care about people and care about all of you all here. That are part of this platform. "Been proven bus in the NFL. So you know it's just you're you're you're you're you're sacrificing a lot for for for unknown so you just you just don't know well here. Here's a funny thing we're all playing scout and we're all playing GM. I'd love for you guys to go back to two thousand sixteen all of us to go back to actually two thousand seventeen and read some of the comments and read a lot of the comments in the articles articles leading up to the draft. There was a lot of talk about the steelers Trading up for Patrick Mahomes or the fact that Patrick mahomes might fall to them in that spot. and that was Armageddon. Everybody was everybody was really upset about the prospect of that And if you'RE GONNA get a guy they want to trubisky you know we. We don't know how these guys are going to turn out the beginning of the season two. Oh was the guy remember tank for two now. Now he's not in there at all and it's the now it's Joe Boroughs at the beginning. The raise and I was not talking about Joe Boroughs or Joe Borough extending you know who he was debating the year. I wasn't talking about him. I don't think I if I'm honest. I probably probably didn't know who he was. Either I spend more time with the NFL. I I tried to watch it here. And there Read sports illustrated of look at these guys is but I don't know as much about everybody that's coming up through now. This time of year I start. I start researching like crazy but we. We just don't know who's going to be good. Who is I mean there? Trevor Lawrence might be number two pick at this time next year. I doubt it but he very well. Could he fall from grace or he can have avenue injury next year. That knocks him down. you just never know where it's GonNa go. If on Trevor Lawrence I go ahead and I Or Trevor Lawrence's family. I go ahead and I researched to you names and those names would be tim. Duncan and Peyton manning and the reason I say why am I saying thing that Tony I following you on that one I am. They were first brought picks right right. Yeah but injury thing. They can't what they did. was they They came back for their senior season. Now Trevor is not coming back but this is a season. They knew that they were gonNA come back but they got major insurance policies sees on their season. I don't know whether it was Lloyd's of London who it was but they went ahead and they their families bought policies `these to make sure that that if something happened that they had an injury did that sacrificed their playing career that row. Excuse me not sacrifice ruin ruin their playing career that they could. They can at least compensate from it but trevor Lawrence would be fantastic. Boy We we. We would love that guy but there's a guy out there that we don't know his name that could be the guy because I will go back. I'll go back to two thousand three. Let's go back to September of two thousand three. Nobody knew who Ben Rothlisberger wasn't September of two thousand and three right not a lot of you not a lot of you knew who ben Roethlisberger was in December of two thousand three. I started to find out who he wasn't November. And I was like. There's no way they're gonNA get this guy. But in April of two thousand four. Everybody thought he had a cool name. Some people were. We're excited about him. If you're like me I remember where I was when he was drafted the food I ate prepared for this draft I had a one man party. He was just me and my apartment at the time and I had a party but and I I was thrilled when they got him but a lot of people didn't know who he was and it was either right. So that's the thing there could be a guy that's the next fifteen years starter for the Pittsburgh steelers that we don't know who he is. The only problem is you might have to take a number one pick for that guy is most of the guys that we're seeing playing right now. Our number one picks six at going going deep into the draft. Paul History. I mean most quarterbacks right history or number one picks the great ones I mean interesting that kind of position draws gives us two dollars. Thank you draws while the good comments tonight draws to. I appreciate it Claude Bishop wants us to gave a fifth round pick for FLACCO. I'm just going to say no. Thank you but hope you never know like I said they know more about they know more about players than we do fully bay frank draws. I WANNA do my homework conflate pay. I'm going to be completely honest with you right now. I could not tell you what college Philippi Franks goes to. And that's just rolling my pride ride in telling you that I don't know enough about So I'm going to get up when I get off of here. That's the first thing I'm gonNA Google. I'M GONNA find out more about 'em you that's something that I talk about Jeff. Hartmann talks about We are. NFL is and that's what we specialize is in So I could not I tell you who some of these guys are. I would love to know more about him and feel free to throw in about him on the live chat. I appreciate that But I want to bring us up young and wood-burning not giving him one band Ben Planning for a future after bb if we lose him ever next year we were P two thousand nineteen hopefully by twenty twenty two unless Ben Breaks an elbow before we will finally have caps base base again. I want to bring up something about cap space in. Here's here's something that the steelers have been able to do the last few years and I'm not a lot of people remember this the fact that there is twenty twenty one. There's a lockout scheduled or the the collective bargaining rim of ends in the way it goes. There's probably going to be a lockout and we're going to be having having a lot of talks about Damore Smith than the lockout in the entire thing. That's what I could look at the crystal ball and say that's that's what we're going to be talking about so with that being said every year. Pittsburgh looks at at a guy like steph onto it looks at a guy like Cam Hayward ban guys like that and they extend them and that's why the steelers are always in salary-cap harm right. They can't do that this year here. So if they're bringing guys in there dropping contracts like they're They're dropping a contract. Like Ah. They're not paying eighteen million dollars for Bud depre- Ramone Ramone I don't expect to see Ramon Foster back can one of my favorites so that that's what you're looking at. You have to clear salary cap space that way so and you WanNa look at a guy. You're not going to look at a guy on his rookie contract and get rid of. Because that's not helping you so you know there you go so it's going to be in a very interesting off season we're gonNA plenty to talk about and we're GonNa talk about it with you guys is Tony. What are your thoughts on the show and you think that we have learned something from this two thousand nineteen postseason? I thought I think we have. I mean I think it's well obviously. We've we've learned that you need a quarterback that's but that's pretty much the obvious but we also learned that you can you can Win Game when playoff games with with rushing and defense and. I think it's something that you know. You kind of. Forget about all these years with Ben well as long as we have been we have a chance. And that's true but you know I think we also learned from the steelers themselves twenty nineteen that you can you can Competitive as long as you have a great defense that actually matters. We didn't think it mattered for the longest time but it actually matters so I think we learned a lot from twenty nine thousand nine. I think we have to and that especially at twenty nineteen a postseason. How teams are playing? How teams are defeating the Baltimore Ravens? That's a big big thing. And not only that how teams are getting through with a running game. How they need to rely on a quarterback you set it all? Tony and I do appreciate that. So with that. Being said Everybody in the live chat. Everybody who helped on the super chat. We really appreciate you as always your steeler. BTS's family and we need Asia and we love to have you. We're GONNA get through this entire off season this entire super bowl season with you and Really GonNa talk about some past super bowls next week so we will be glad to do that as well Dros asks draws ask ask if if we do have facebook or email you know what I usually go through twitter handle at bad and in your app tone-deaf that's my email tone-deaf at net zero dot net but you can also find me on twitter at Def Jam my last name D.. Efeo oh man. I don't know how I came up with that name but I've had it for ten to ten years so that's what it is. You can find me there and I'm on facebook my name Anthony. DEF Yeah you can find me on facebook. I I have a public page. I have nothing to hide from me and I mean you could do that as well with Brian Davis but I'll put my email out there. It's Saint Catharine at gmail.com and if you're wondering where that comes from then keep on wondering because it's not GonNa take your a steeler fan it's not gonNA take it too long to figure that one out So with that being said yeah definitely get a hold of US WE WE HAVE A. We have a lot of fans get a hold of us through facebook through twitter Through email that's That's something that that we appreciate been. We do our best to get back. Act here We will do our very best. It seems that Usually the most emails we get our the angry guys. So it's Nice just to get a nice one every once in a while and Real quick where we we drop off. I was talking last week about how you know. Different and fan bases are rough to go to and I talked about how I thought Kansas City fan bases were. I thought their fan base was pretty decent. Fan Fan base. I got a steeler fan that list or show that sent me a long email and it was a very eye opening how he and his girlfriend I believe now his wife but he lived in the area When in the nineties and early two thousands two games and was absolutely terrorized for wearing Pittsburgh stuff and it? It was probably some the worst stories that I've ever heard so We appreciate hearing that kind of stuff. I was really upset to read that I wrote him back. Right away But you know it's We love hearing from you outside the show too. So that's why we go ahead and publish our emails or twitter handles Definitely get hold of us Tony definitely has more a lot more twitter quitter followers than me. I'm trying to get better on the twitter so Hundred and thirty two right now. So here's any Negoti for one fifty and I know I'm actually I want to get to two hundred and we want to get to six thousand we want to get to six thousand Likes for our TSE network so make sure you go ahead and like our show not just like our show. Thirty years later but Giving you the best and I got grammy winner seem sprint a really soulful voice. And if I vary eighty kind of a little deeper than it's just allergies so maybe that's why I'm I'm getting that but I appreciate it that much to talk about so much to keep on going with with a steeler season as we continue that hangover. Look I'm not gonna be feeling better from this hangover. In till the Pittsburgh steelers are in camp and the Pittsburgh steelers are on the field playing. Actually I'm not gonNA feel better until September so this hangover is one that lasts and where he we're Alka Seltzer. Tony how are you feeling today. My friend I'm feeling good. I'm feeling great. Happy Monday to you. Happy Monday to everybody out there and You know we're on Rehab for next eight months. Sometimes you suffer early season injury and you you. You miss the playoffs and you miss you. Miss the entire season that that was the steelers have a steeler fans last year. But we still got how how to find year but you know we'll get through it we indeed we'll we'll and that's what we're here together. Four I just brought up Anita Baker because Donald Nolan brought it up and I hate to be correct correct arson but it was actually a kneeboard named Selena. That had the number one hit. And I know you Tony. You could really sing a few bars offering my ready days ago. Yeah the just was awesome. Wasn't it we. Actually we village people guy. I remember them. them Mainly because Wayne's world but yeah what what is your. What's your favorite Disco Act? Would you say just act I don't if I have one I mean I know the gotten a disco late in the late Seventies. Bg Fan as a little kid. So yeah I'd say them they're they're the best. Ah If you ask If he asked me I think they. You don't realize how. Titanic they were Esp- especially Barry Gibbs who wrote he had a About twenty straight weeks of number one songs the weren't as BG's back in the nineteen. Seventy eight I believe and they actually had a number one song in nineteen nineteen eighty three. That you would never guess was him but it was islands in the Stream. I was GONNA say it okay. She knew that I knew that. Oh Yeah Ken Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton Right. Yes what a what. A great collaboration really good song and it gets better and who was it I know. Od wasn't DB's group that did a ghetto superstar to that. I don't know Gosh and I. I know we know what we'll have to. We'll talk about that but before we get started at the steelers You look at the calendar Lotta a lot of people had The men had off. Today the the banks had off today. Government agencies had off. Today we had I had off today. We had off today for good reason. And I want you to remember the importance of this day Martin Luther King Day this celebration that was first brought up by Jimmy Carter back in nineteen seventy nine so this was about forty one years in the making I believe nineteen eighty six and finally became an actual holiday. If here's something that I do with my children I'm I put that speech on Youtube. Every single Martin Luther King Day and just like I put a Jimmy V. Speech speech on when the espy's rolling around so they I want them to hear these kind of speeches that shaped our thinking in our world and so I thank you to Martin Luther King and the legacy and. I hope that we're celebrating that today and realizing that the world looks a whole lot different than it did when our parents it's in their parents were were in these spots so with that being said just wanted to mention that to you tony absolutely I remember Boura when I was in elementary school. Harvey Harvey Adams who was the head of the local end up Lacey Pe- he would come and talk to us and share share those experiences that he had in the late sixties and in sixty was pretty educational for a little show. Yeah that's what I always think of when I think of Martin Luther King so would that be being said I wanted to go ahead and bring that up. So let's talk about the weekend the weekend that was without the steelers before we get into the steelers. And we're going to bring the steelers into this whole thing to What did we learn from this weekend and most of the show is? What did the steelers learn from this? It's not just this weekend but this entire postseason so far. So let's start off with the first Games The first game this weekend. It was the Tennessee. Titans a lot. The people a favourite of a lot of people going through they were actually. I had I had my heart set on the titans. 'cause I really like a really like their style of play against a team in the Kansas City chiefs that they can turn things around in a heartbeat. It doesn't matter how far they're down. What were your thoughts about that? First Game Tony. Well I actually just wrote something about that before. I came on the air. I was rooting for the titans. Like you you know you like the underdog six seed and and and we can relate to that the steelers fans with the five team but as I started watching that game and they fell behind seventeen seven Kansas City showing bad for the chiefs. 'cause it's been fifty years or it had been fifty fifty years since they made it to the Super Bowl. And you know it had to feel like deja Vu all over. Again for them they just lost a heartbreaker last year. So I kind of rooting for the chiefs. I wanted to see them win because I go that long without making it and coming close so many times and you know Patrick Mahomes. He's just I was wrong. I'm just going to say it. I remember over three years ago. I had many arguments on behind the curtain. With people like Igloo. Joe He's he's he's a regular reader and writer and About how that quarterback class class. We don't need a quarterback and Patrick Mahomes. I got a text yesterday. We shouldn't straight after Patrick Mahomes. And he's just phenomenal player so That's my thoughts in that game. An amazing draft class. That was 'cause you had a teams trading for Shawn Watson teams trading for the chiefs he's trading up for Patrick Mahomes even even the forty niners Traded back and really took advantage of the Chicago bears to go one spot to get Mitchell trubisky which A lot of people are like well. They didn't have to do that. The forty niners taking many ways. But you gotta remember somebody else could trading trading. Let's spot right just as easily so I mean they wanted they. That's the guy they wanted. They went in and look for them. but I tell you what Mahomes Mahomes is to me. mahomes is the guy that is going to be the face of the NFL for the next millennium. Yeah okay wait. I can't say millennium. Stop at the next decade. Okay well you never know how good he could be. It might be. He might be the best player for the next years. We don't know yet it's too. It's too early but he's phenomenal. I mean that that touchdown runny head at the end of the first half. That's one of the most amazing plays of the Twentieth Nineteen Twenty twenty season. As far as I'm concerned it was just phenomenal. And of course he's even an even better passer than that so he should special special player. Let's compare him to Tom Brady. When Tom Brady was was going into his first super bowl? Well Tom Brady he was. I think we were all waiting for the other shoe to drop with him. You know he was just a six round pick. Nobody knew at the time that he would turn into goat at quarterback so I think as far as what we thought of. Tom Brady at the time I I. I assume that drew bledsoe would eventually get a starting job back. That's what I that's what I was thinking of Tom Brady but obviously he. He proved me wrong. Whereas Patrick Mahomes is there's no doubt that he's special in a moment when you see Tony when you see Patrick Mahomes? Do you really think that. Let's what this way. Could he win. With what the steelers reporting on the field at wide receiver and tight end this year which I think he could he would would definitely be successful. But I mean people like tyreek Hill and Travis Kelsey. I mean they're special players in their own right so I don't know if he could if he could have taken all the way Eh but he definitely would have given them a really great chance to advance in the playoffs for sure. I think he actually would have went really far where this esteem. Because I think like I said I keep on saying this all along. I think case keenum would've gone far with his team just because of WHO. This team was a US dealers. Have a much better defense than the Kansas City chiefs. It's amazing though how you bring one guy in where the steelers that really helped solidify everything the chiefs kind of did that too and their defense got so much better when they brought in Tehran. Tyron Matthew Matthew. Excuse me when they brought him in. That's that helped mahomes out quite a bit but I think mahomes is that guy that can be can can be the cover boy for the NFL. going forward I love watching this guy in Kansas City is not gonNa let them get away. Oh no no they were saying today day that will probably be the first forty million dollar player and I can certainly see that. I can't see how he wouldn't commend that much money on the open market. Nothing he would get the new markets market. But when when it's time to pay up I can't imagine them not giving him that Kinda money. So how did Kansas City win this game. Tony just they just well first of all they are able to to shutdown Derrick Henry finally and it looked like he was going to be the same story in the first.

"With Ben Rothlisberger in the whole he might not play in two thousand twenty talk This is obviously something. We have not covered on binding soaker the communist but ultimately I look at this say I mean. I'm not surprised you're talking about a a quarterback that's thirty eight years old. WHO's coming off? A surgically repaired repaired L. Bell. That's there's no guarantees with that whatsoever. However I'm not shocked either? That ben might have said something to someone in a net someone tells Chris Mortenson which is the root of all these rumors reports. Nothing if you're a a logical fan that saw it Ben Rothlisberger throwing doing throwing arm in this case elbow injury. You knew that there was no guarantee that he would be back in ready twenty twenty. You knew that it's just fact if you're or someone we'll just wait 'til ben comes back. I hope ends able to come back. Everyone on this show on this panel right now is is hoping dens able to come back but I guarantee this is nothing nothing more than a couple of words got twisted one way or the other young. I'm sure you'll hear from Ben. Rothlisberger wants to season is over. They'll have him on W. D. V. E. or 93.7. The Fan an and he'll say I plan on coming back Yada Yada Yada. The guy hasn't even thrown a football yet. He's not going to have to throw too. I WanNa say I heard about late February march in in that case He. He doesn't know because if he goes to throw football for the first time in that thing it pops essentially he's done he's done and we know the Terry Bradshaw's resented by elbow double injury other quarterbacks have been Ended by number but people just pump the brakes. There's no reason to you know burn down the UPS's Sports Sports Facility. Because Ben Rothlisberger Somehow has rumors that he might not play. Is Anyone surprised and he really. Are you really surprised. The teams down the dumps. They're coming off two straight trey losses and all of a sudden boom then Roth's version the news. I'm not shocked. I know Tony's not shocked. I know Brian not shocked. I got a little greeted sir. So there you go you know what. I agree with that wholeheartedly. The reason these I think these comments come up is we always need something new to talk about on the first person to throw it out there. It's like throwing spitballs. Sometimes in this business so I I do understand that Jeff. Something that I did want to ask. Is there ever a good the time to go ahead and burn down a sports facility. I thought it added after the game on Sunday. Now Mt Bank aside but would you know you're right. I mean there is never a good time for it but I'm sure they have insurance. The Jeff Hartmann last thing today is a very special day in Pittsburgh steeler history of Tony and I were on this earth. Jeff you were not what this is. This is the one of the big anniversaries nineteen seventy two December. Twenty third the Immaculate Reception. Hey I'm Jason Delray. I recently wrapped up a land of the giants. The rise of Amazon in this podcast cast we examined how Jeff bezos turned a small online bookseller into one of the most powerful companies in the world. We start by exploring how Amazon prime became a service with over one hundred million members and the main source of the company's power. I mean I think that's kind of what Amazon's banking on right that you're just so locked in. You'RE GONNA go to any other sites 'cause I don't and we end this season by pondering. The question is Amazon too big and we just don't want to be the United States of Amazon. We just really don't land of the giants has been recommended by the New York. Times axios wired and more. It's a candid. Look at the state of Amazon today. How we got here here and what the future might look like? The entire first season is out. Now find out more and binging on apple podcasts or your favorite podcast APP. So I'd like to ask both of you. I know you have no recollection of I have no recollection love it. I'm sure I was digging it. I'm sure I was in some in. Some kind of Onesie steeler onesie cheering them on. But I have no recollection but what I will say. Hey what I WANNA know from. The two of you is what does this day in steeler history mean to the success of this franchise and the Lord floor of this Franchise Jeff. I'll start with you. I can only speak through my father who obviously lived through it in. He speaks fondly of the. The immaculate reception is kind of the one play that really sparked the steelers from a fan base perspective from a national perspective. A lot of younger fans ends may not even know that they didn't win the Super Bowl that year. The seventy two. That was the Miami Dolphins undefeated season they lost to the dolphins. Shockingly how crazy is it the AFC championship game was in Pittsburgh undefeated they rotated they rotated rotate back. Then it which is really. It's a in terms of today's game. Just really funny. But ultimately I look at the situation and the the lower of that place still resonates and the fan base would be the same without got it and so My Dad talks about what he was doing during. It's kind of like there's certain moments in your life where you always know where you were My parents can tell me where they were one. JFK was assassinated. Everyone can tell you where they were on September eleventh. Two Thousand One for my dad he could tell you exactly doing during the immaculate reception back in Nineteen seventy-two wary. Sorry was what he's wearing is pretty crazy here. This stories I was obviously not even a twinkle in my parents. I at the time but ultimately it's it's every steeler fan knows if you don't read about it watch it learn it. 'cause you're history in. It's something that you should too so I don't think the steelers would would be the same without that play. I don't think it would be where they are today without that play. Not Today. Wouldn't have won super bowls but in terms of being the steelers that place started at all. Jeff Asks Tony. How many steeler fans do you think were conceived after Michael Immaculate Conception? Excuse me there you go rushed we. You're you're you're right both ways. I A lot but with a lot. Track the data from nine months after that. Give or take if you you days weeks and I bet there's a lot so if you ever watch the show this is us on NBC. It's centered around the Pittsburgh steelers and the triplets were conceived in a froggies bathroom in Pittsburgh during Super Bowl fourteen That's A. That's a part of that show that it's all centered around Pittsburgh. The opening winning shot of the series. A man's wearing nothing but a terrible towel. So Pittsburgh means a lot to this family and the series but the fact that they were conceived during that. That's Super Bowl is actually amazing. I know it's fiction but I still think there's so many forty six year olds on this earth today because of Franco Harris and don't forget. The Frenchman Frenchie Aquarium. She UKWA absolutely so. I'm GonNa let you guys go a enjoy the rest of your show and as good to beyond the guys say hey. Merry Christmas happy holidays. Jeff we appreciate Ya Jefferson Hartman. It's good to have him on Tony. Absolutely I was. I was surprised you told me right before we went on the air but I was kinda nervous. I never really talked to him talking to boss before dude. So you've worked with me for about three years that's the smoothest host around. I will tell you right there. I is so great to be on a podcast and I've known him for a while. And we've been friends. I consider more of a friend than the editor in the boss. But I tell you what the guy is really really good. Had you know. I actually think that's a guy that can go national someday. Tony do WANNA go ahead and ask before we move on. I want to ask your thoughts on the reception because this is a very special anniversary today. Yeah I mean it it. It means everything to the steelers. We're talking about a franchise that when no postseason games for forty years. They barely even participated in the playoffs. And then just like that. Their whole franchise the whole their whole legacy changes on one of maybe maybe the most improbable or immaculate play in the history of the NFL. I mean how many times it actually happened since then. You can't even really go back and look at any other place. That's that's even close close to that and it goes back to we. Were talking about before about. Do you want them to make the playoffs or or is it is a futile they. We've lived off of that play now for my hope my entire life I was born in nineteen seventy two. I was nine months old seven months old when that play took place and and they and they lost the next week they lost lost the very next game as Jeff pointed out because you know they lost it a dolphins in the AFC championship game but nobody remembers that because it was such a great play and it just goes to show show you that that you can have a memory that doesn't involve winning a super bowl so that's what it means to me. It means it's what being a football fan is all about. Oh Oh my dad is like Jeff said he could tell you everything about that day and where he was and what he saw another person that I know that could tell you exactly about not that day is Frenchie future and I had an opportunity to drive Frenchie to the airport in two thousand eight. I believe it was. He was doing a show in chantilly Virginia. An autograph show somebody asks me. Hey can you take Frenchie back to their port. One of the greatest guys ever One of these days. I'M GONNA try to get him on this show and if if I had some four thought that the show was going to be on this date I would have tried to call him up. I ever saw home phone number. I would try to go ahead and give them a call all but he is a fantastic gentleman and he is told me how much money. ESPN has offered him for the truth because allegedly he's the only one alive the knows the truth about who that ball hit. I and he says that he will He will take to his grave So I one these days. We're GONNA HAVE TO GET French. That'd be fantastic. But a great anniversary forty-seven years ago. The immaculate reception happened and it was just a glorious day that we will never forget in. Pittsburgh steeler history. So I wanted to bring that up but I'd like to get back to the hangover Over and You Know Hey. We're still in flux. We're still a little upset about this game yesterday and I know this. We've had a a super chat that's been lingering for awhile while but we were talking to Jeff and other things. I want to bring this up snowman. A great fan of the show says. Does anybody wants Sean..

"Also from bt SC. Tony how are you I am doing well. Brian how are you. How was your trip back? I tell you what Tony Is. What Tony's doing right now is he is referring to the fact that I made my inaugural inaugural trip to my inaugural two thousand nineteen trip to Heinz field? Yesterday and I went with Dave Scofield met up with Tony Jeffey so for the first time we first time we ever met in person it was like you could hear like we are the world and the speakers around as we embraced for the first time and Literally kidding I'm like Tony. I'm giving you a hug. I'm so glad But Yeah I got home at five fifteen this morning because as you know I do look in. I do live in Maryland. So I'm a I'm a little Bush but feeling good and I'm going to bring this up here to that. Nine hundred and sixty three says bad. You look good for getting home so late. I appreciate that and I got a mentioned and Mr Nap. Nine hundred sixty three a good fan of the show David. I had a chance to hang out with he and his family and his friends in the Great Hall. Aw and it was an absolute pressure pleasure. It is so nice to meet more Pittsburgh steeler fans and France in our BTC group We hope hope to do it again. We hope to do it again next year to as well of stared at a love. This bad looks awful. Cold hold arriving that the game. I had seven layers and then he drove home in the snow. And I look at Dave Scofield. I said look I gotta pull all over I gotta get some of these layers off because wedding So here's the deal. We're talking about a hangover and we talk talk about that game. Did Not go the way that we wanted. And Maximum McCormick is asking for this bad. I need a pick-me-up me up king. And that's what we're here for because we are your steeler support group and that's that's very important thing for for us to be together and celebrate and revel when we win and when we lose go ahead and take care of each other as well. Oh so that's what we're GONNA do today. We're GONNA talk about this game we're GonNa talk about the state of the steelers going forward. I promise you Maxwell Oh I'm GONNA pick you up pick all of us up and let you know what we're looking at going forward because hey this is a bump in the road of very weird and unique season and we've seen seasons like this and one thing I'm going to say about this season so far is it is completely against the script. We we had no idea whatsoever that we were going to be talking about guys. Like de la Hodges in white and even deontay Johnson at this point. We thought we were talking about Ben Rothlisberger James Connor and Juju Smith Schuster. So that's that's really what we're looking at so there's so many things to talk about but I wanNA talk about once again support of the show. And how do you support us. She asked us all all the time. Well we can support us by going joining the live chat and just talking to us if you want to go ahead and throw in some money in the super chat. It goes and pays for or stuff like microphones. which were we're not getting? I haven't gotten mine yet. But the other fellas have it's it goes to go ahead and pay for contest test which we just gave away. David decastro football as well But also gets you to the front of the line with your question and we'll go ahead and answer your questions a little litter on in the show. But the best way to support us is go ahead and Lance Williams always says tune in and tell a friend and subscribe. And so we just ask you to go ahead and subscribe ringing that Bell so you get notifications and like this podcast. Ask others forty-five on here right. Now Give us thirty five likes in. Let's get going but here's the thing the big thing is we're we're here to talk about the steelers and what we need to do to go ahead and go forward. Hey this season is not over Tony. Let me ask you this us with two games to go or the Pittsburgh steelers currently if the season ended today or they play off team. Yeah yeah they're they're still a number sixty day really damage their Their playoff chances. That all that much by Losing yesterday but it was a sad reality. They can't make those kinds of station and beat anybody so hopefully. It was a wakeup call for them. So Eric Could Jason this. She says time to beat up on the jets. And so that's what that's what we're going to go ahead and look at we're GONNA look forward. We're going to get through what happened yesterday. I and the question is right now. This is a playoff team. Got Some gifts yesterday from from other teams and some of the gifts that we received were the Tennessee. Titans losing at home to the Houston Texans who they played again in week week. Seven the Jacksonville. Jaguars went to Oakland. And beat the raiders which that means they're pretty much out Arizona cardinals. BEAT THE CLEVELAND Browns. So they're out not that they were a big threat but these guys are out now. So you're really looking in a seven teams trying to get into a sixteen field. Adam Lewis is the titans are favored more than fifty percent to go ahead and make it over the steelers lers now so this is where it gets a little tricky. And I'm going to ask for some help on this as well but two games left for the Pittsburgh steelers. You GotTa Win Those Games. Don't if you win those games you're in November so there's nothing keeping them out if they if they win out there in so let's talk about the steelers I and when we're talking about the steelers were saying they've got to go to New York and beat the jets or Jersey meadowlands. I'm not there's no call the meadowlands. It's met Life Stadium. I understand that but it's still in that area and Then we've got to go ahead and talk about what the titans have to do. Now if the titans lose next week against the saints at home it's not over because ause they would have to really really if they win that game next week. That's that's not a not a big deal as much as they've gotta lose against the Texans they've gotTA lose another conference game so that's where it gets really weird so steelers. They went out there in so they control their own destiny. I need this time. But here's the problem. And it's also the title of the show. Is the offense of the Pittsburgh steelers playoff-caliber playoff-caliber or they postseason worthy. And that's the problem. They showed some flaws like a it provoked thoughts. That's like this duck showed some flaws yesterday but if they game plan to what he can do well and he doesn't force beat ball we can win. OC OC has to game plan running the ball at least sixty five percent of the time and I believe I saw something up here from Michael Tool and he he is right to. We lost because we ran fifteen times for fifty yards and the bills ran thirty eight times for one hundred and thirty bills play late. We have been playing in feet and put the Game Indus- hands and we all see the result. That was a horrible game plan yesterday. This does not now. This does not take take the take the onus off of Devon Hodge Devlin Hodges had a bad game. But here's the problem. It's like this. Listen war it's like this any game you play if you get tipped off on something and you know something's coming you and you can predict it. You can stop it. The bills were tipped off on everything. Because the Pittsburgh steelers Randy feeder. They tip off everything. When you see Zach banner and Johnny Houghton Come in the game? You know it's not going to be a pass. Yes you know what's going to be a run in when you go run. Run Pass Credit Dave scofield because Dave has been harping on this for a long time. Now when you see banner come in you pretty much know that it's going to be a run so you're telegraphing everything. When you see that wildcat come in here I'm not staying being scrapped? The wildcat and put it away forever. But what I'm saying is you've got to go ahead and bring in one time in the third quarter when when you're already you already have a game plan established so it was really weird Isaac Aguilera puts five dollars into the tip charts. How do you dress five running backs and running fifteen times? They set up. Tuck for failure. Look look they did like. I said it still doesn't excuse. Ducks play but they knew he was passing in those situations allegations and they can just sit back and wait for it and he is you and I made this. I don't want to call it an excuse but I made this case for Mason Rudolph to when he was playing. Would you know what he's doing. And you have a young player that is still waiting to go ahead and get established. You know. It's a lot easier to go ahead and predict what he's doing and to be able to stop them so when you go ahead and put him him in a situation where you. You've got a young player that I mean with the pedigree of with the lack of pedigree really at this point line of then. You know that you're going to be able to stop Michael o'malley says this and he is absolutely correct. Five Live turnovers and lost by seven. The D. is legit. Need the offense to mature. Tony let me ask you this. Let's go ahead and take a look at the offense and we've already talked about game plan and I know you agree that the game plan was ridiculous. The I know you agree that they need to run the ball more and we agree that Devlin Hodges charges whoever's put in that position whether it be Mason Rudolph whether it be Paxton Lynch and let's not be pining Paxton. Let's be looking for a change right now. Now but let's go ahead and talk about that offense who's the biggest problem on this offense or what part of this offense is the biggest problem. I just think it's it's a injuries number one but then but to your point about the game plan a and you got your your your horse running back back yesterday James Connor back and and you only two as Mike o'malley said you only run fifteen times the whole game ain't it doesn't make any sense. The game plan defied all logic. So I I'm GonNa say I'm GonNa say injuries are the biggest factor but but your your offense coordinator and and I don't like the Tyrrell against the coaches especially fichtner this year with all the problems he's had to deal with but it just defied logic to you're going against an elite pass defense with an elite cornerback. trae white and you throw thirty eight times and you run it only fifteen times. It just did not make any sense so I say right now. Number one is injuries and number two would be the for sure. I love how Dennis Ceratin says is turned four string rookie quarterbacks who are not up to NFL varsity play yet. That's kind of what the problem is here. A lot of people are saying this we we just we just saw it. I didn't read it but we saw it from nap. And Adam saying lot of eight-man boxes in the last game I would have really liked to see audibles from the duck. That's that's interesting interesting as well to..

"Until you tune in Sunday and see how his career starts. I mean you know look at Tom. Brady look at Kurt Warner Etcetera Etcetera Etcetera. You never know when the next great story is GonNa where it's GonNa come from so Muslims Rudolph and I'm GonNa it'd be hard for them this Sunday okay before we go. I've got to bring this up because when I see the name Mr Tummy I cannot I cannot more a a comment from Mr Tummy because I I love the name someday I would love to know the inspiration behind Mr Tummy Mason produced more production versus Ben with fewer drives and the same wide receiver group. I'm excited to see what Mason can do. I think we all are Sean. Manahan ben was your fantasy quarterback. He was one of mine too. I'm looking at the at one comment to WHO it's kind of an inside thing cre- yes there was a conversation yesterday about that. Get with Dave Scofield on that and we'll go ahead and take I will go ahead and take a look at that but with with everything else being said thank you so much I love are a steeler community and here's here's the thing thing for me. It's a rough week. You lose your quarterback. You lose it a game and a game that you really shouldn't have lost lost and we get a chance to right now one hundred seventy four of us and then Tony and I make a hundred and seventy six we get a chance chance to heal together and that's what the hangover's all about that's what BTC bt see is all about Sean. Monahan says we may salk but we're steeler fans for alive right now. We do right but hey that might not be the same thing in two weeks four weeks and in week seventeen so with that being said for my name is bad Brian Anthony Davis and friends. "There's no reason to hate anybody. You just go out. You give it your best effort. You try to execute and you try to win the game now. That's gonna piss off many of you. Many of you are going to hate that. Because many of you fans ads want the steeler players to absolutely hate the patriots you want the steelers players to hate the patriots like you hate the steeler pate the steeler <hes> excuse as we do patriots but that's not the case. That's never going to be the case with current athletes and moving forward to just too much money. There's not much animosity. It's tissue when you try to play the game. You're folks around that but you don't have any animosity. Listen to some of the quotes from airbus article in this is marquees pouncey. I believe one of the captains this year when asked about it. This is how he described it playing playing in gillette on sunday and seeing the banners get dropped from that team up north. It's awesome. I'm going to clap it up. For those guys is hell year. They went out there and play their butts off. They beat every team last year. What that does is show you how good they were last year proves nothing this this year but at the end of the day it's a great ceremony for them and i'm happy for them. Let me just say that again. Let that sink in marquees. Penalty is saying he is happy for them. Everybody in the live chat. How does that make you feel. I am sure hearing pouncey safe that makes your skin skin crawl. It makes my skin crawl because my.

"Whatever you wanna call it those things don't give me a good feeling. So when I think about the state of the Steelers, I think the Steelers are standing steel, which means if you're standing still in the National Football League, you're trending downward. So I'm not in a good place as to where they are. I know they're close. I know all that other stuff. I just wish that the coach could get his hands around all of it. If he had more control of what's going on in the inside, and what's going on. And all this stuff. I would feel better. I would say it was a bad season. But between him the coach the quarterback, the wide receiver and the chinchilla coat. I mean, just don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about it, and I feel probably worse than ever about it because the patriots have six Super Bowls. And now, you know, my brother's absolutely obnoxious. So that's kind of where I'm at with it. All right. I can't disagree with much. But here we go give my state in the Steelers address, my fellow Steeler fans. This is this is in my opinion, the darkest days of the Steelers franchise in my life. Now, I have not lived as long as many I was not around for the seventy Steelers or anything like that. But I cannot remember a time when the Steelers from an organizational standpoint, all the way down to the players have been absolutely ridiculed lambasted any other adjectives that you can think of in the media around the league the perception of this team right now is low as it's ever been in my time. Every Steeler fan around the globe is probably feeling the same exact thing, and that is not much hope Antonio Brown ones out later on Bell's probably gone. Rob burgers in the waning years of his career. You've got my Tomlin. No one wants him anymore. Everyone thinks that are Rooney. The second doesn't know what he's doing any at here. We are. I guess sometimes for me in my opinion. It takes something drastic for change to take place. And if there's ever been a time where it's been drastic it's been this off and it's been the whole last season. And maybe just maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers will start to see some change coming in two thousand nineteen will be as drastic as everyone wants in regards to the firing of Mike Tomlin or Kevin Colbert or anything like that. No, no, it's not. But at the same time might be drastic enough that you see legitimate change in philosophy a legitimate change of preparation, and you see a legitimate change in how the team approaches things like for years and the NFL draft and how they handle their players and how the Mike Tomlin saying of everyone be treated fairly. But everyone won't be treated the same goes out the window. I guess when I look at this team they are at the bottom of the barrel. Maybe non from a skill standpoint. Actually, I know not from his skills standpoint, they're not at the bottom of the barrel because they're still very talented team. But I think that it this stage. I feel like there's only one way for them to go in that's up. I just don't know. How could get worse. They missed the playoffs. They were seven two and one and missed the playoffs. Their star players want out at this point. Could it get worse? Missing the playoffs can get worse than that. I don't think. So I feel like it can only go up and if the Steelers are smart they played their cards correctly this off season. I feel like this is a team. I still feel this way is only I would say three or four players away from being right back where they were in the AFC championship game. You can't tell me the AFC has ran away from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yes, there's the patriots. But you can't tell me that the chargers. The ravens the cheese even the Steelers can hang with all those players might it. Look a little different next year..

"Good evening. Pittsburgh Steeler fans. And welcome once again to behind the still presents the Steelers hangover once again, my friends. My name is Brian Anthony Davis from by the steel curtain with me as always it's my good friend also from by the still curtain empty deaf. Yo as we talked about everything Steelers in the post-game extravaganza called the hangover. Give me about twenty four hours to go ahead and digest the game. Of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers did not play yesterday. But members of the Pittsburgh Steelers were in action in Atlanta, Georgia. In the Pro Bowl and something very notable happened with that line of one catch for sixteen yards shoe do Smith's Schuster limped off of the field. All reports right now for saying that he should be. Okay. But that makes this person think that. Really we come to a point where the Pro Bowl is just not even worth it anymore for what could happen. So that's my question to use dealer nation, and Tony that's my question to you, my friend, good evening, buddy. Hey, Brian happy Monday cook yeti weekend as far as the Pro Bowl. If the question was that we come to the end, I think so yes, I didn't even watch it yesterday. So for me it ended last year when I saw them not tackling the game. You know, what I I did not watch it. But when when Mike Evans is getting interceptions and now with Kamara is playing defense, and you know, it's fun. But I go all the way back to believe from numbers taking I I will say nineteen eighty nine. We're f- AT's were one of the top rookie running back through the game. John Stevens for the New England Patriots. And that was a time when we did not hate the New England Patriots. They were still wearing really cool red, white and blue jerseys the red jerseys that wait how with the the patriot hiking the ball. That's when they were a team that they were kinda lovable losers at that point. They were nothing great. They played once Super Bowl completely destroyed by the bears a few years earlier, but he was at the Pro Bowl, and he wasn't even in. The game. They were playing the rookies we're playing an organized by the NFL beats football flag game. And he tore up his knee and just ruins career. I'm if I'm not mistaken, I don't the he ever came back. Was severe of in the injury Chon. Stevens was his name S T E P H E N F. Go ahead and look up. If you have nothing better to do. No me for my money yesterday. I I was happier. Just watching watching the Royal rumble last night. I would much rather watch that than the game which the AFC did prevail actually twenty six to seven. If anybody does care. I guess, you know, this is the hangover, Tony, I guess maybe we should go over stats from that game. What do you think? Sure. I know once that Jude you had one catch for sixteen yards. The other ones I'm not so sure about what's what's okay? So the leak outlet, you guess. Suit was the leading rusher for the AFC. Leaving the AFC James Connor. Same kind of six carries for eleven yards and a one point eight average. So the leading rusher was tyreek hill who had two carries for twenty four yards. And I guess they were probably reverses. But if I'm looking at this, a twelve eighteen total Kerry's, the the loan touchstone that came on the ground was from Anthony Sherman. He's a fullback, isn't he? I believe so. Yes. Sherman was four for eleven. I mean, the not not very good on that. And let's go head over to. This is so fun. So and I say that very quickly. But let's go ahead and see who the leading rusher in the NFC was and give me a phantom who's not Tom girly. He did not play in the. I'm gonna go. Errs rain back Cohen. I'll just take stabbing dark show reek to Rico in actually no star with three carries for thirty three yards though. TD's Zeke Elliott. Barkley was to for ten year. Boy, Cohen one Kerry two yards. Wow. The woman came were this did you? You know? I mean, I didn't even check to see if there was a fan or yesterday for the Pro Bowl actually should have the I'd put two there was and I bet you guys some BTS's..

"Okay. So you're here the phone relegate. But for the Pittsburgh Steelers right now after at sixteen thirteen win toppled with a Cleveland Browns loss to the Baltimore Ravens who won the AFC north the song should pretty much be the eagles desperado. 'cause that's where the Berg Steelers are right now. But luckily. Jim Carey would say in a number of the nineteen ninety four heads. So you're still saying we've got a chance it's fourteen seven right now in Tennessee. No one knows if that's gonna hold up to be a tie. I pretty much doubt it, but you have got a big Steelers right now or in death for move. Hello once again, my friends and welcome to the Steelers hangover, I think all of us have that the banging and clanging or melons after after the win it still feels like a loss because of the way the season has come down. Especially what happened the hope that was happening in charm city in Baltimore, but turned out to be just a marauders as the Cleveland Browns and bigger Mayfield could not finish up the miracle to give us help. I'm Ryan Davis with me as always is by good friend. Anthony duffy. Oh. And we're here to talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers fortunes of the team, and basically sit here and just hoping that they could somehow make the playoffs but pretty much by the end of the show, we're probably going to have to face reality. What do you think Tony feel? Yeah. It's just I can't believe how the last six weeks ended. But. Oh, well, what are you going to they made your bed? No. That's why Brian. You've you've got Mike Tomlin said that last week. Yeah. They're definitely lying in it. We could point to so many things from this season. We wanna finger point and a lot of things there's a lot of blame to go around. You know that blame has gone around in two cities so far today and Tampa Bay and the New York Jets have both buyer coaches, so Todd Bowles and their cutter or or looking for jobs right now. But I pretty much don't think that's going to happen Pittsburgh. But I know a lot of you on the message boards and a lot of Yuki board warriors hiding behind your keyboards or calling for it. But that remains to be seen once again, you know, the hangover, you know, it's brought to you by behind the still curtain youth for joining us for all your Pittsburgh Steeler needs. Ten new articles every day. You're up to date Steeler talk. We have the four podcast all week long too..

"Learn the teams everything really move. Fate was Lee learning about the. Players in all those things because we didn't have the internet and you had to read about you learn about the by the newspapers and all those other things wasn't so having children. I was like I'm gonna piss shoot saying you have the Chris rock show paying your mom's every so bad, and my family looked at this ice cream on the heels, then I other family members who said, well, I'm gonna be doused with him just gonna go get you, and they became die. Hard doubts. I heart Cleveland Brown says all of that just to to combat me. But what I did not know what I did that. No was how crazy the fan base of the Pittsburgh was feeling Mason. There's no of the fans like feelers 'cause we go all out for whatever. I don't care. If is a bad season or food the eighties that we really sucked, but we feel go outside. And we're out via probably and let everybody know that we're still friends in the thing is that I love the most about this as with all the diversity and everything goes on. I don't care the losing season, you if you haven't you're going for regular grocery store, and then you feel Pittsburgh Steeler fan. And I'll guarantee you wanna have Lisa five conversation that doesn't have any any other. In the NFL. Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. That was fantastic. Thank you so much can senior. And I gotta tell you. I do wanna pay you a compliment you have very fine, son. That knows what bone. We enjoyed talking every week. So thank you so much for sharing sharing your thoughts on the Steelers with us. You got you. And I lot in common. I can speak for Tony. 'cause we're we're a lot closer to age in we grew up with that. And it was just agreed feeling in. You only have three networks back. Then FOX wasn't even out yet. We're only three net. Right. You were watching you were watching football, and you were relying on blocks for you were relying on football cards and sticker books. And and that's how you did it but day in it. I tell you what I I feel. I feel blessed that I I was born into a Steeler family. And I'm glad to be wanted. When my children were born I have two children, and they were draped in terrible Taus within I've been at of entering this world. That is so beautiful. But it's a really know of fan nor the fan doesn't giants fans. Don't do that you mind saying then do that excel much of I really wanna be with. No, we don't do that. It's a different. And that's what makes us feel nation. Mel sudden Israeli this nation. It's ridiculous. Absolut absolutely of mazing. Thank you so much for talking to us tonight. I mean, this was a tree. This was a treat for me. Because I you know, what I. I talk about it. But I the grocery store guy that would be talking to you. And if I see that opening I see you where it I'm talking to you. That's that's who I am. And that's being special Steeler family. This is this is Ken junior from New Jersey. So. Close close with it. Give you a little bit of now is just like I do every week. I've only here already Bernie already burns was supposed to be covered three on that on that Brady touchdown. And he did not I was ability. That's the end of Ardy. Unfortunately, think vase with a second Silvo he bought himself another week. And the last thing I'll say is the defense really needed that stop. And I think that's gonna carry us to the play offs. So I think we will run the able because we finally beat the New England Patriots. It feels like a spiritual win. And I'm just so proud and blessed to be a Pittsburgh Steeler said, that's it..

"Joining me as always my coz Lancia's, we have a lot to talk about. And before we get into anything specific Lance was at the game last week. He was there to witness the pathetic performance in person. So we welcome Lance to the show the Lance. We wanna get you weren't on the post game show with me. So I wanna know tell me about it. What was it? Like, I know you've been there before I know is probably depressing, but go ahead and explain what that environment was like for Steeler fans listening to the program. If you've ever watched a Steeler game away from Pittsburgh. And you felt like cheese. This is a Steeler home game will multiply that by two to just simply put it into perspective. When the Steelers have the ball down seventeen fourteen driving to go up eventually twenty one seventeen. My section was yelling. Here we go Steelers. Here we go in half the section was standing with terrible towels. It felt like I was in Heinz field. Yeah. But then the end the Evans, what was the reaction of the fans because they're obviously a lot of Steeler fans. What's the reaction of the fans when Boswell slips let's back up. What was the reaction of the fan base? When the hook and ladder works in juju. Smith Schuster's rumbling down the sidelines getting into field goal range. We're less. I'll describe my reaction. It was it was a little chilly at the game. I had my at my jersey ill, and I was little buttoned up because I was a little chilly. You know, have it lived in Pittsburgh for quite some time. So I'm getting older. My blood is a little thin. Thin. So. I'm good to other Trump. I'll probably was a little chilly brothers, Charlie. So, you know, my my my Jackie was zipped up. So when the Steelers scored a touchdown. I did the Cam Newton unzip the jacket open the jacket and stick my chest. It out in shell the number on my jersey..

"Uh-huh. Pittsburgh Steeler fans. Happy thanksgiving. I'm Jeff Harbin editor of behind the curtain, and you are with us for another episode of the standard is standard. I'm joined as always of my co host, Lance Williams land, happy thanksgiving, my friend. How are you? Everything's given to you as well. And I want to thank everybody for the well wishes and prayers the air quality is starting to get better out in the west coast down south and up north. So everything starting to stabilize. Thank you guys for that. Yes. Absolutely. If you don't know lands lives in California, they're dealing with wildfires out there. So crazy stuff going on. But we like to keep it a little bit lighthearted here. Relate to talk about the sport of football and in specifically Pittsburgh Steelers. And last night, you know, is crazy week with thanksgiving on Thursday for those visitor. Merican their, you know, Thursday's Thanksgiving Thursdays. Typically preview show we had to bump that to Tuesday. So if you missed the preview show, you can go back check it out Brian Davis. And I break down you have coming game. We talk about fantasy yadda yadda, yadda, all that stuff with Lance. I'd like to talk about more football subjects any. We'll we'll talk about some of the same stuff. But hey, you're gonna get a very different spin from Lance than you do from Bryant not not one is right. Not one is wrong. Way is typically negative. But that's. Okay. So here's what I wanna talk about first lands. And that was the Monday night football game. The Rams and the cheese. And this was the major be main talking point from national media syndicates all the way down to local radio on Tuesday. And that was the fact that they put up a hundred and five combined points, Las Vegas took a big L on this one. I wanna say the over under in this game was around sixty three or sixty four depending on the sports book visited my gosh. Are you a fan of that? Like what were your thoughts on the game you wake up Tuesday morning? You're thinking what in the world? Did. I just watch. What were your thoughts on that game will first of all Europe fit guy, and I'm a fat guy. So after watching this show I was exhausted. Yeah. Was literally exhausted. I I was I felt tired. The game was so exciting. There were so many ebbs and flows in. Emotional ups and downs. I I was just tired, and I thought akin to that type of football acquired taste, you know. It's maybe it's like drinking possibly really good scotch or doing something. That's really in a really intense activity every once in a while. I mean, I got some salacious examples that I could come what with but I don't wanna give those. Doing something really intense for that one time, and it's really good. Maybe it's like your favorite piece of pie. It you eat half the pie this while. I can't have another slice of that for maybe six months. That's how that game was as entertaining as it was. I couldn't watch football like that every single game. I mean that was big twelve. That's why I don't watch the big twelve or I think is the big twelve in college, Oklahoma state. It's just too much. It's too much of a good thing..

"You know, if you're going to your bookie might wanna listen to me more than him, Brian. Go ahead. What's your prediction for this game? First of all, I don't care if you get your late, not you Jeff, but I don't care if anybody gets their legs broken Pitch. pitch. They don't pick their book. They don't pay their bookie because what I'm telling them to do because what do I know? But here's the thing. Some of that is by design. It's me being cautiously pessimistic because I hear it when I picked the Steelers and I'm told, I'm wrong this week. I hope I don't. I don't ruin everything, but I'm going with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend. I have that feeling that they are turning things around. I see them. Just. Jeez. You don't pay. Well, if you didn't listen to the show last night listeners. Yeah, Lance take the Steelers and now Brian's picking the Steelers and you know who I'm gonna pick because if you listen to the shows that I host, I'll three of them. You know that I like the Steelers a lot. I picked the Steelers almost every week. There are games that I haven't, but I am a Homer admit that I think the Steelers going to win this game. I had the Steelers winning this game twenty four to twenty. Now, Brian, I did not catch your scored if you gave it to us, what was your score again? Because you mop twenty seven to twenty six Pittsburgh. Okay, very good. Very good. So okay, the connection is a little shoddy down there Bryan but anyways twenty four twenty it's okay. Twenty four twenty. I said twenty seven twenty six. Brian said and the Steelers are underdogs by Vegas. For the first time this season they are two and a half point underdogs currently and sit there. You have it. So Brian, before we get off the air, anything that you'd want to add or anything like that before the we call tonight. You know what? I have been paying attention to other websites, competitor websites from other competitive teams, not Steeler websites, but I've been in Cincinnati websites, listening these guys on the punk cast in. I'm no leery of the Steelers. They do not. They feel that they are snake bitten when they played the first. He'll I being bullied. And we talked about that earlier by the Steelers in the Steelers own them right now. So they are really hoping to get off the king against their team, feel like they have a chance and we don't hear Steeler nation as as it was the big bad bully engine STA yoga, another women. But that's what they think's happening in Cincinnati. It's very interesting to see the dying. Namic con as what this really means to Cincinnati. And I love the sea pitched again and shut them and put them. On the escalated like we still fe- years ago with that Mexican love to see that again. So if you have to call us the bully, hey, I will be the bully. That's right. I think I think it's now been affectionately called the escalator because they typically are on it as a bunch of losers going down the escalator out the gate early because it's a game, you're, I'd love for this game to be a blow out. I don't think it's going to happen. I also don't think it's going to be as high scoring as people might predict nonetheless, we'll see how it pans out. I do want to mention if you're listening to this show, whether it's on YouTube or whether it's on podcast, maybe you just found it on behind the steel curtain dot com.
