"Everything in his personal life plus having to deal with the organization of washington getting trying to get the organization going in the right direction with all the negativity. And then you go out on the road and you beat the pittsburgh team. Alex smith much. Jc bounce back two years of absence in the national football league to give them some sort of energy and joke. You could tell the bounce of the players. When alex smith took over at the quarterback spot and you can see it last night in the game the players are it just feels different in the interesting thing about teams like this. It's not as as you would say zubin tongue-in-cheek it's not it's not in situation indeed. It's not a situation of always. Wear you start where you finish and teams get hot at different times throughout the course of the season and washington along with the giants at a couple of other teams when they start to hit. That's all that really matters. Right are super bowl team that we won. We beat the raiders offense sputtered along throughout the season. We were okay office. Nothing but toward the end of the season you could see. Once we got ready for the playoffs. Our offense was getting ready to take over the match. Our defense and once we got into playoffs whether it was against the forty niners philadelphia eagle. Sorry pat we open link enclosed of it because our offense had kicked. We went down to san diego. And you saw what we did to the raiders in a super bowl but we hit at the right time something that you could clearly see the giants as well as washington is doing. That's fair enough. We should also say from one thousand nine hundred twenty twenty over the last thirty years. What is eleven really get any team. Not just the steelers so in the last thirty years. Eight teams started eleven. Know all of the made the playoffs. No surprise there. Six of the eight made the super bowl three of them. One in the two thousand nine saints the nine hundred ninety eight broncos and the nineteen ninety one washington football team stats incredible brought to you by computer career training. For a better life alum media we find stats for everything. It's been twelve hundred. Lost like sme teams actually went to know and then lost and won the super bowl. We find it. You don't have to go to a you could say teams that have gone eleven or better or better data. We should mention the giants at this. Even though washington did pick up a big win yesterday the giants still have a better than average chance to win the division at fifty six point four percent part of the reason for that is that the giants swept washington football team during the regular season. So that game in hand is very important for the giants. They're going to host a reeling arizona squad. Meanwhile the reds washington football team is that teaching on the forty niners. So that's important to note it's important to know just because even though even though it looks a little tight reigns have a chance of rain on sunday. How is sunday by the time kickoff. It'll probably be about forty five. Okay real quick before we talk to chris. Long the super bowl champion about what's going on with the eagles the team he ended his career with the son of how long the great fox broadcaster in the great raider ledger got a little tuesday night football by the way. Oh by the way the cowboys are playing today. Do you think any show. We've ever done what we've gone three hours and ten minutes on a day. The cowboys played a not discuss them. They got the ravens on tuesday night. For thank you to discuss in the car was right. What are you going to say. I mean it's like the story in this particular. Football game is the pandemic covert lamar jackson. Ingram dating play against pittsburgh laid off now all of a sudden. You're getting ready to bounce back against the cowboys. Cleveland taken over. That's the story. The story is not the cowboys just like. You're not talking about them. Losing forty one to sixteen to two washington football team. Yeah that's like. last time. We saw him was win. Turkey day come on saw them real or soften. There's a distinction. There fly eagles fly..

"They play the chiefs when it matters the most for a trip to the super bowl. Let's say everything stays on track. Fingers crossed we get there. Can the steelers beat them. First of all the steelers need to hold serve right. They need to not put themselves in position to not have that by They haven't shown me in the last couple of weeks. Really anything that indicated to me that they have the better offensive power to beat the chiefs. They lost several players This last several weeks and into the beginning of the season on the defensive side of the ball. And so i think we look at depre- who just got her two week ago. You look at losing devin bush earlier in the year it so those are key ingredients what they do on defense and i know. Tj while they're still there in in in you know hey would still there and they got a meek of his patrick in on the back end of joe haden. I just feel like from that second. Wave that linebacking core. They're missing some stuff and when you miss them stuff. It's hard to make up that when you're going up against a team like kansas city kansas. He loses to the raiders. And i've always said this. And i'll continue to say it the team out of the afc. Regardless to what seating they wind up being if they make the playoffs will be. The raiders will be the kryptonite to kansas city making it to the super bowl because they norm. The division in kansas city lost to earlier in their struggle to beat them the second time around. I think multiple teams can beat the steelers. I still stay on my comments yesterday. I think the browns with baker mayfield playing at the high level granted. He played the best game of his career. The other weekend I think they have a legitimate chance. I thought the washington football team had a legitimate chance. They prove that last night. Not having james conner. I think hurts mimic. Some one dimensional offensively. You saw this in the last two games. Where big ben is back and thrown over fifty passes. He hasn't done that the entire regular season. They usually have a great combination about and look. I think steelers team is still really good. They will still be there. I think it's gonna be tough game for them. Playing the bills on thursday another week. The bills are one of the most explosive teams to. And that's the thing that worries you about the steelers. Would they have the explosiveness stay with teams like kansas city or two buffalo bills due to the way that their offense has been a little bit volatile. You know and when you look at pittsburgh you would think and hope that they were not looking ahead to buffalo in because you know it was this weird. It was a lot of draw balls that was out on the field on being through have fifty attempts in his game. When you think about it because james caan connors not there right now for him that the running game has somewhat stifled and beanie snails tried to do best. He could in in a reserve role and situation But if you catch the footballs you could continue to advance the sticks if you keep dropping them then. You're not going to advance to sticks. Been a problem the last two weeks. He's running against baltimore. Tina drug you are professionally paid. Why receivers you have to catch the football. You just do one drop every four or five or six. Eight games is acceptable but six seven in a game is not acceptable. Mike tomlin had his team routinely winning their first eleven games. And then something went off. Kilter routine was you know we just gotta make routine plays routinely and i say that often but there's a lot of truth to it you know we gotta make routine plays routinely. We're not making them routinely enough right now. And so it's affecting our fluidity as a collective group of the week routinely routinely. i want to mention. This is a quirky little stabbed. But it's a little fun. And i want to pick up. The feelings of the steelers fans might be a little down this morning. This is kind of fun. I know every years independent of each other. I got you but this is the third time the steelers have been the last unbeaten team in the nfl. The eleven to going to eleven in one. You're steeler fan and need a pick me up this morning. The last two instances the first two they were the last undefeated team the made the super bowl each of those two years two thousand ten. They ended up losing in one thousand. Nine hundred seventy eight. The ended up winning. So perhaps a little bit of history. If you're a steeler fan to enjoy this morning. I also just want to pay a lot of respected to washington football team. I mean think about ron. Rivera thing about alex smith some of the adversity that this team has had to face in the midst of all. This ron rivera. Obviously getting let go the panthers coming to washington football team going through the renaming going through the sexual misconduct and how everything happened with that within the organization dealing with that Going from dwayne haskins. Making that move to cal allen and then going back to alex smith battling back injury. The storyline is just incredible. And i know. Ron expected this to be better. But ultimately their blossoming. At the right time you new york just went on the road and beat seattle and washington. Football team does win road and beat the steelers at home where winter up fourteen points there. Seventy eight one and one seventy eight one and one when reporting points they pulled off. I think speaks volumes about the organization. Amr alex smith re riverboat certainly has gone through a lot in the last twelve months. There's no question about it jay cancer. I'm sorry jay. Got engine that mitch. And the firing plus.

"But I do want to ask you Roger Staubach about the current state of the Cowboys you mentioned how Aikman was a a surefire quarterback draft pick. But he was the first overall pick. You mentioned we're Brady was in the six what about a fourth round draft choice in Daklak. You believe he's a future. Dallas. I think Dak is going to be in continue to be a quarterback this getting better every year. I think he's a very good quarterback. And the thing about that is that he he truly has confidence in himself and he transferred transfers that confidence to his teammates. His teammates really believe in everything that you hear you. When I interviewed by players. They love him. They know that it ends come through in the fourth quarter. He never quits never. James anybody else? So he's a leader in, you know, for every bad Passey throws mean everybody, they're they're usually early in the game. He's he's he's he's he's pretty well in the game. And he's got a good winning record. So I I'm I'm disappointed in the the question marks on on back in his his strengthen I think is future's going to be very good. I think think he's he'll be the Dallas quarterback for a number of years. Are you surprised that Jason Garrett is gonna have to coach without an a contract extension next year? I, you know, I've someone mentioned that I'm I'm thankful. Jason. I hope went in there and said, hey, listen, I'm gonna we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna go to the Super Bowl next year. So don't worry about my contract. I don't need extended contract roar. But so he needs to have good your next year. And I I hope Jason does because I like Jason. And he's done some good things in Dallas. But this'll be a big year for the whole team. The whole team. It's a good football team. So this coming year is going to be a big year. And it's going to be a big year for Jason's for us. As futures with Alice. Probably, you know, Jerry, right? I mean, Jerry is essentially kind of putting everyone on notice. He knows exactly what he's doing. I think he really I think he kind of likes that in a way. Don't you think? I I don't know. I'm not Jerry is he's a competitor. He wants to win. And he, but he is he is loyal to players. The one thing about the Jones family. They're very generous people. They do a lot in the community. They they care about other people, and in in I think Jerry cares about Jason wants the handle that the way is should handle things. But you also have to make some tough decisions. And yet I think he believes Jason can get things turned around next year. Yeah. Now, do you think the right decision was made with Scotland hand bringing in a twenty nine year old coordinator now and killing more. Well, I wish. I was I wish I was you know, they are because I don't understand the inner workings of some of the coaches, I I've heard more on just great things about him. Whatever smart giddy is a good guy. And I go back and tonight, I'm having dinner with Dan Reeves, and Dan Reeves was fantastic. He was a player for us. Then he became the backfield coach quarterback coach, they certainly know him here. And then he really helped helped me a lot. He did a great job and in Denver, obviously, the Super Bowls. They went to and then he was here in Atlanta. But so Dan, Dan, really meant men a whole lot to me is a is a coach, and so that's very important position. And evidently more is gonna be the one to take over on to really help that get to the next next level. Also brought back year on the rich Eisen show before let you go. We've got the vices helmet right here. Russell Wilson Patrick Mahomes. Doug, Baldwin, golden Tate. Over one hundred NFL players wearing it since it launched last year. What are you? What do you say about this helmet that actually helps with what caused you? And obviously Troy Aikman. It seems to retire. It's a great helmet. I mean, it's the NFL is recognized in a in a very positive way. That's why you're you're seeing you know, it's a lot of colleges now in high schools, and I wear it all the time with our fifteen grandkids..

Roger Stone compares his FBI raid to those of Bin Laden, El Chapo

"New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, he joins CBS this morning and says it seems a bit excessive to use all that force to bring in stone. One of the things where I was what I was watching the reports that my wife asked me would you have done that. And I said the only way I would have ever done as your attorney is if we knew that he had a gun and someone has gun in your dining, then you worry about them killing themselves or harming others when I found out that Roger Staubach did not have a gun. I think it was over the top for them to do that. Because otherwise, he risks and as far as some folks saying that stone had electric devices Eddie could have possibly destroyed Christie says you don't need to bring you know, guys with a are fifteen flak jackets as if they're going to get shot when I saw them coming in with all the protective gear signal to me while they must know there are weapons inside which in Florida. Given that. China intimidate them. And I think it's the wrong signal. Prosecutors to do by Mr. Muller made a mistake in authorizing that because you're going to be criticized and rightfully so if you're a prosecutor using those musicians as a means of intimidation if you're using it as a way to protect agents, that's completely appropriate. And I've done it Christie has a new book, titled let me finish what comes out tomorrow and goes into some details on the inner workings in his opinion of the administration

"The United States naval academy two-time Super Bowl champion, a member of the pro football hall of fame, captain America himself, Roger Staubach, Roger thank you for joining us. Well, good to be with Jeremy win the calender rolls around November eleventh each year where your thoughts. Well, I've I've got I've got a lot of lot of lot of good buddies. That are that we went to naval academy together in the service together. And we just had a reunion at the at at navy here for sixty three team. And of course, we we lost some some some of our teammates, Vietnam, they've some some were pilots. And so I you know, I've really have relationships. I I was in the service for four years going the naval academy. And, but you know, my my love for those that committed a lot longer than me that were in the service a lot longer than retired is is military. It's it's it's time to to show our probation and thank them in so veterans as a big deal. It's you know with with USA. Also, we we've involved the sleuth a service and in this year, we. Got the the honor through through action, which is you know, honoring honoring veterans. And you can draw little V on your hand and take a picture of it and put on social media. That's the way that pick out a veteran to say, hey, I'm I'm gonna so. And so so we got different ways to do that. But the the world is still a wacky world. And our veterans are out there. You know, I'm I'm looking at our kids and grandkids. And and even great grandkids that that that that, you know, it's it's important to have these great veterans. Protecting us. We're speaking with the nineteen sixty three Heisman Trophy winner and more relevant to our conversation right now. Vietnam, veteran Rogers Stabak, and Roger you know, the way we appreciate veterans now in the public support for veterans causes obviously very different from so much of what was experienced by your fellow Vietnam veterans during immediately after the war. How do you reflect upon the way America demonstrates depreciation now for its veterans as as opposed to what it was like forty fifty years ago? Yeah, I don't know what what got into us during that the Vietnam period. I mean, it was a war that was definitely kinda virtual, and, but it was, you know, fifty eight thousand over fifty eight thousand veterans died in Vietnam, and they were going over there because our country asked to do it. And maybe you should get mad at the politicians or those that made decisions about the, but the veterans still should've been been honored in and cared for. And you know, I was I was a support officer. So I was into nagging to lie and logistic supply and supporting them, rain course. So I don't wanna make myself. I wasn't out there getting shot at. But we were we were still in your harm's way. Well, we yeah. So we were we we're taking care of the reins. At that time because I that that they were that the I corps area of South Vietnam, where we were and rains were occupying that area at the time. I was there in sixty six sixty seven and and so all the things that that that they did and one through and some teammates that I lost over there. And then then to come back and not not not being love and care for like like, I think we're doing today and in in a in a in a really good way, it makes a big difference to the feelings of our veterans. So Vietnam was was a difficult time and for veterans in in. Now, I think we're we're understanding that they're they're asked to go out to protect us in our country. And I think people really understand that that the veteran and the politicians are like, you know, to a different part of the the the the program, but the veterans are asked to do what they do. And and. Protect our country. And and and they they they there's no question how how good they feel when people come up to them and say, thanks for your service. So what it's just makes a big difference in Roger. To being at nap bliss at that period in time from eighteen sixty one and nineteen sixty five just as the US was getting involved really in Vietnam in building up its presence in Vietnam before before the largest infusion of of personnel..

"Network big Ben's I pass to the game seventy five yards to juju. Smith schuster. They go on to score fifty two. That's the most the Steelers have ever scored at Heinz field which opened up in two thousand one play in the day. Play of the day. Brought to you by nascar's lead. Putting it all on line last chance to make the championship four monster energy Cup series playoffs at Phoenix Sunday, two thirty eastern on NBC. That's a lot of fun though, when you have someone like that Roger seventy six years of age, and when you're watching so here, I am a little kid watching Roger Staubach in nineteen seventy-five. But I'd seen him play before that, and you know, hall of Famer Heisman Trophy winner served in the military, and then you have him on the phone. So there's still some of that where you go who would ever thought? And it's never law. Lost on me. Never, you know, you get in that time machine. And all of a sudden, you're like we're talking to Roger Staubach, and he's a special. He's a special person. Not only a special athlete. Police said how about this is a poll question whose career would you want Roger Staubach or Terry Bradshaw? Yeah. Point four Super Bowl rings Bradshaw. College career good, but not anything special as far as notoriety and starbuck has two Super Bowl rings MVP and he has a Heisman Trophy at navy. I'd rather be Roger starbuck. Yeah. I'm with you. Because Terry doesn't get credit for the four Super Bowls. Chuck knoll. Does the defense. Does Lynn Swann? Does it feels like Bradshaw you go? Oh, yeah. And he was he was the quarterback for those four Super Bowls. Yeah. See, but there's a lot of fun in winning. And so you might not necessarily get the credit that you think you deserve or then you make any little overshadow. But that's man. It's a good time. When you win a bunch. Yes. Mclovin. I mean, I can't go head to head Terry. I'm beat them. Lease. Did he beat him twice? Roger, terry. I can't remember I went down. But well won the Super Bowls two times who volun- be. Well, didn't they lose the one when Jackie Smith dropped the Cowboys lost that right? That was a great game. When that thirty five thirty, and it wasn't there at twenty one ten mixed in there. So Terry won the won the big battles. Yeah. But we're talking about who's career would you want? Right. So I think but even winning those head to head. I think would be a compelling. Argument for Bradshaw. I'd rather be the Heisman Trophy winner. And you win a couple of Super Bowl Super Bowl MVP. Yeah. Polling match of stomach had a few more years to work with starbuck as a starter. Never had a losing season. His worst season starting for the Cowboys is eight and six you watch them more than we did is a fair to say not success. But who is considered a better player Staubach? Well, you know, Terry people forget about Jerry Bradshaw. I mean, he was a world class javelin throw. I mean, he was a great athlete. Great arm. You know, Tony Dungy talks about that. He was with those dealers. Terry was a great athlete. But Roger I think was a great athlete at quarterback. I don't think Terry used all of his talents the way Roger did when he played quarterback and Roger came before cherry. Yeah. For fritzy may get a little more credit is compared to branches farms, the winning the Superbowls. But when I think of Dallas, I'm thinking doomsday defense, he had torn Sandton Preston Pearson, and Robert Newhouse and Tony hill and drew Pearson too. Tall jones. Hobby mon- cliff Harris, you can I can on a great team. I can run down the Steelers to but still Dow's Harry's back. Harry gets lost in the shuffle. Though. He does you know, you're talking about Franko. And Lynch swan swan catches me Joe. Greene Jack Lambert. Yeah. Chuck knoll. You know, I understand what you're saying. I I don't think there's a wrong answer there. I would if I could be Roger Staubach I'll take that as far as the football career. I'll take take that..

"I love the approach if you're capable of doing that. When he starts to look at the film. I wonder if his voice is going to be raised a little bit that are be a little bit more anger in their match right after the game. And he's saying it's just one game in it is. But I don't know if he sees things, you know, the offensive line wasn't great with pass protection. Christian McCaffrey, look, really good. But you know, that was a Carolina team that should have been a whole lot better than they were last night. Here is Cam Newton talking about how that loss tasted Serrano was a humble in PISA pob and not only that it was a it was a learning experience for a lot of guys. You know, if we expect to be as good as we expect us to be we have to file a ways away games like this and hostile environment. Yeah. But he got hit forty percent of the time that he dropped back last night. And you know, they were hitting him hard. It's one thing when he when he runs then he's controlling it a little bit. But when somebody's supposed to be blocking somebody who is going to be hitting him. Then it's different because he doesn't know where they're coming from and T J watt last night, you know, in the end zone with the pick six. I mean, he comes off the corner off the edge. Nobody blocks him. But you can't have that, you know, Cam can take some pounding, but not on a consistent basis in the course of a game. But Steelers pick up the win and they tied a franchise record seven different players scoring a touchdown last night. The only other time it happened was back in nineteen fifty two. Pittsburgh scoring a franchise record sixty three points in that game. But last night fifty two points with seven different players scoring a touchdown. The bucks beat the warriors last night Steph. Curry was injured Draymond green didn't play. He was injured. But the bucks at Golden State blow out the warriors one thirty four to one eleven mclovin is running a little bit late. We'll come up with a poll question. We got a couple of stats of the day play a play of the day as well. That'll be coming up a little bit later on us. I mentioned the great Roger Staubach who I believe coined the phrase or the term hail Mary. I think it was in that game against the Minnesota Vikings. I think Roger Staubach said after the game if I have this, right? And we can ask Roger about this. But this was nineteen seventy five when he crushed my heart because I was a Vikings fan back then and the Cowboys played the Vikings in the playoffs and they won seventeen fourteen. There is a touchdown pass to drew Pearson. And of course, there was pass interference by drew Pearson. But after the game Roger was quoted as saying, I guess you could call it a hail Mary. You just throw it up and pray, and I don't know if the term hail Mary for a pass it ever been used before. But we'll talk to the great Roger starbuck. That's great. Yeah. That's a great little piece of trivia nugget. Yeah. But I hope it's true because oh, no, no, no sorry about it. Don't water it down with facs. Okay. Yeah. Why take away from the greatness of that we were all just sitting here. Like, no kidding. That's awesome. See if you can find confirmation. Well, I'll ask Roger bought the bout this at age seventy six I think he could probably play a couple of down still in the NFL. Did you see the video that went out? He was viral and went viral the twenty eight team draft. I think Roger was throwing a pass and can still he could still slinging a little bit at age seventy six. Here's also something attached to Roger Staubach one of four players to ever won the Heisman and a Super Bowl MVP. He was the first to do it. He was the Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl. Six nineteen seventy two the other three. You should get those when there's one that's sneaky that you might not get Jim Plunkett,.

"Excess rate everything he's the man number twelve roger staubach yeah you make a decent case there is growing up during the seventies and i i have seen the good and the bad from roger staubach and there was more good than bad so plenty of cowboys to choose from now the challenges quarterback do you stay quarterback you go with some of the other great cowboys of all time when you consider all the hall of famers they've generated all the super bowls that they've won boy he's he wants this is the second biggest roy go this is tough you know what talk we talked earlier about how troy aikman was not know he he benefited from all the great players around him we've already gone with one of the great players around troy aikman emmitt smith i'm going to go with another one in michael irvin if i if i was starting to team i'd want michael irvin in my in his prime on my team for everything he brought to the well not everything he brought to the table the good things he brought to the table it was mainly good things that he playing career sex drugs and rock and roll me me michael irvin on the outside as my number two choice for the all time greatest cowboys i didn't think you would actually pick him i was hoping he's one of my favorite cowboys of all time i mean i love you know just the bravado and the swag that he played with the leadership i mean he is he's an awesome i mean he's a dallas cowboy in the fact that when the lights are on he was ready to play and you know the other thing that i don't think people give him enough credit for when you ever hear about anything talked about this guy on the practice field men cowboys players just gush about how awesome he was everyday in practice so that's a pretty good one but okay i guess i'm going to have to stay with the quarterbacks i'll a to go to the quarterback with three super bowl victories his name is troy aikman that will be my number two pick.

"Was back i'd argue it's a silly silly one is a silly argument it's about performance see the reason i don't make brady the best is because he was not the most dominant in either era montana was the most dominant postseason quarterback and payton was the most dominant regularseason quarterback tom was neither so that's the case going to make tom the number one guy because he won the most super bowls that's not a reason to do it yeah which i agree with now the question that had for you about roger staubach yes very highly of upper level why we just curious if the where are you gave him a mouthwash more of quarterback a lot of people overlook them and i think they make a great mistake because the first of all his career was cut short he had his serve time after his naval so so he lost you know he after his naval low academies time he had to give time and spent time in the military so as cut short his his amount of years in the nfl i feel that although he had a couple of drawbacks as a quarterback he was not the most accurate passer in the world that could be a little scott go the times he was as good a leader as good a quarterback and field general as you could possibly ever have and is incredibly on the rated as a quarterback and i think if i had one game to win i would be as comfortable with him as anybody ever seen that's how and i i speak very however because i saw him pull out as many games as anybody ever.
